My honest review of The Marvels (2023):
6/10
I really don't want to be negative about this movie, but I really don't think this movie was great. I enjoyed it, but I don't think this movie was great.
First of all: the plot structure. Everyone says it is messy, and I didn't understand what they meant until I watched it. It was incredibly rushed - there was no clear structure, and things just happened. Nothing was developed, and when it was developed, it wasn't developed enough. There was no character development in this film, outside of Carol and Monica talking twice, and Carol doing something towards the end.
The beginning was incredibly messy and just felt like random scenes were thrown around. You don't need to see Wandavision, Ms Marvel or Secret Invasion, but that doesn't help. This film desperately needed to be 2 hours and 30 minutes. So much needed developing. So much needed to be done.
Kamala and the Khan's were excellent. Iman Vellani was excellent, and Zenobia Shroff was brilliant as Muneeba Khan.
Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris are doing the best they can, and that best is amazing. But the plot doesn't allow them to act like real people, and their respective characters suffer a lot.
Park Seo Joon as Prince Yan was... eh. He was okay, but Aladna was just... why? The Aladnans were just there.
Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn was great. Her motivations, plan and acting were great. But again, she suffers from the same problems as Carol and Monica - there is no time to flesh her out. Nevertheless, she remains intimidating and fun to watch.
There's a scene with the flerkens that's executed beautifully. But in the grand scheme of things, they took up valuable screen time that I would have preferred being seen on the characters.
I'm just numb. This movie could have done so much. It didn't. I desperately hope this is a Thor: The Dark World scenario and the 3rd Captain Marvel movie, but I don't trust the MCU with Carol, Monica and Kamala anymore.
At the end of the day, I'm going to keep making memes and fanfic because I love these characters. I love what they can be. I love the people hidden beneath them.
I know why people love this movie, and I absoloutely know why people hate it.
At the end of the day, I just want to rewatch Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel and Wandavision. I want to see Carol act like a character again. I want to see Kamala be where she is strongest. As much as I don't like Wandavisions involvement with Monica, I just want to see Monica have motivations.
6/10 is the highest I can give it. Other than I enjoyed it, I don't know how to describe my feelings towards this movie. I don't want to. Guys, I really tried to love this movie, but I can't.

Ranking the MCU shows cause I'm bored and think I have controversial opinions.
1. Wandavision (Feel like this one is obvious.)
2. She-Hulk (Pure fun for me, has problems but all of these shows do and I see through this one the most.)
3. Falcon and The Winter Soldier (Seeing the boys hanging out is worth the price of admission for me. Wish villains were better.)
4. Loki (Character interactions are very fun for me but I felt this was over-hyped. I just never really understood why this is considered so good, maybe I need a rewatch)
5. Hawkeye (I still enjoyed this one! Even though it's pretty low on this ranking, I really liked Kate Bishop and hope to see her again soon.)
6. Ms. Marvel (I really liked the first episode but the plot got really bloated and convoluted real fast. Kamala is still really charming though.)
7. Moon Knight (I didn't enjoy this one much, I almost fell asleep during the finale. I rewatched it to make sure I just wasn't biased but I still don't find much to latch onto here. Characters aren't super interesting, Action is okay. I don't think this is bad, I just can't call it good either.)
8. Secret Invasion (I kept waiting for the rug pull that would make this show amazing. I was waiting for some crazy twist that they were saving would amaze me and make this all feel worthwhile. It didn't happen.)

@ancientforged replied to your post “Went and saw the new Ant-Man movie. Personally, I...”:
MCU movies often work best in a vacuum, where they aren't too reliable on continuity or setting up stuff i think, i guess that is mostly my problem with things post-endgame, altho each to their own i say
I don't quite agree but I can understand that point. For me I like the broad continuity stuff, it reminds me of being a little Lis reading comic collections of things like the Infinite Crisis or the original Civil War. So to me specifically the movie arcs feel kinda nice.
But I super get that to a lot of people it's a lot to deal with. Like you can't just watch, I dunno, Spider-man No Way Home, because not only did you have to watch the first two Spider-man movies but also you gotta know who Doctor Strange is from his movie. And you gotta understand what the "Blip" was from Endgame. Then you gotta know Sony's Spider-Man 1-3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2. Which, if you wanna just sit down and watch a movie, is way too much. Particularly since they're being more and more like this.
Or, like, with this Ant-Man movie. The plot references Ant-Man's actions in Endgame a lot. Also the television show Loki (which I never saw) did a fair bit of set up for this (that was also a problem with Doctor Strange 2 as I have never seen Wandavision and that was apparently quite important to the film). And this movie was used to set up the main villain of the later coming Avengers movie. So then you'll probably need to see it to understand things in 2 years.
So I totes get how that can be folks problems with the more recent stuff.
For me though, my problem is more a matter of tonality. I'm not saying that the old Marvel movies weren't funny, like there's totally jokes in Captain America, Thor, etc. BUT.
Guardians of the Galaxy came out. And it was good. GotG 2 is personally my favorite film in the MCU. The GotG were a specific kind of humor. Where they were constantly quipping. Serious moments were almost (and the almost is genuinely very important) undercut by some sort of gag. And it was basically funny all the time. Which worked fine with Guardians of the Galaxy. That is the tone of that particular set of films and it is a tone that fits those set of five characters.
But ever since it came out. It honestly feels, to me, like every single Marvel movie was wanted to be Guardians of the Galaxy. It took some time and was a bit slow but nowadays every time I watch a Marvel movie it just feels like GotG but without the Guardians. Every Marvel character has become, like, a wisecracking constantly joking sarcastic dude that's vaguely an asshole. Which just makes them all feel samey to me.
Like I still watch the Marvel movies but most of them, even though I enjoy them, I don't find myself with an interest in going back and watching again. I'm down to rewatch, say, Captain America: The First Avenger because it feels distinct. But I don't think I'll be rewatching most of the stuff that's come out since, oh, I'd say after Thor 3 because it feels the same as watching any other. TBH even Thor 3 does but Thor 3 manages to be really funny with it so I am down to rewatch it every couple of years.

get to know the blogger questions!
Which MCU film is your favorite? Which is your favorite of the ones that don’t have Steve in them? Which is your least favorite?
Hi! Thanks for jumping in 🫂
Which MCU film is your favorite?
This is actually insanely difficult for me to answer 😭 My mind immediately goes to CATWS but I've rewatched CATFA, IM1 and AV1 way more than that movie. I want to say CAFTA for the sole fact that I may be able to quote the entire damn thing from memory, but I think I'll settle on CATWS because there's just so much going on in that movie.
Like, it blew my fucking mind watching it for the first time, not to mention we get so many important character interactions that make my heart so fucking warm and full. It's insane! Also it's great seeing Steve's world collapse right in front of him all over again. And seeing him stiffen his lip and push forward just made me so....so in love. Not to mention, I know that a lot of people knew about the Winter Soldier before that movie came out (maybe it was in the trailer or maybe I'm just dense idk), but I had NO fucking clue so I was jaw dropped, eyes wide in pure shock when I saw Bucky? Like omg? Natasha and Steve were such a welcome duo and then the introduction of Sam was even more delicious.
And the Steve characterization 💓 The way they showed his morality, his leadership, his loyalty, his resilience - in love!!!!
What really made me starstruck though - and it may be a little insignificant to everyone else - is how when Fury had no one else to trust, he trusted Steve! The spy of spies! Not only trusting him not to be Hydra, but trusting him to make the right decisions about how to navigate SHIELD's infiltration. That was huge to me. I like Fury and I adore Steve so this moment was mwah!
Which is your favorite of the ones that don't have Steve in them?
This is much easier! Captain Marvel! No question, no if, ands, or buts. I don't think I advertise just how fond I am of Captain Marvel/Carol because this is a Steve account, but I fucking adore her and her character arc. It hit me in all the right ways, everything about her story was so perfect, everything about her is so delightful. She's my girl. The movie itself is so engaging to me and still makes me tear up every time! The soundtrack is awesome, seeing young Fury and Coulson was great, seeing how Carol is in the face of betrayal and realizing that she was the oppressor was so, so, so dear to me. I have been practically clawing at the walls for a Captain Marvel 2, but even though I doubt it will ever happen, the original movie is still locked safe within my heart.
Which is your least favorite?
Now, I have a few least favorites for various reasons, but it all comes down to characterization. I can get through a semi-sloppy plot just fine. I'm very good at taking the pieces of a movie I need and making them fit to make sense. But some things just make me want to tear my hair out.
Now the first thing that came to mind when I saw this question was Infinity War which had a lot of silly moments in my opinion. But overall, it's not at all my least favorite. It's actually a "newer" movie that came to be my least favorite.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Let me tell you how damn excited I was about this damn movie. I was bouncing off the walls. I rewatched WandaVision and Doctor Strange twice in preparation. I was literally counting down the days to watch it. And then I did. And, yknow what, I'm able to find enjoyment in most movies I see so I enjoyed watching it, but boy was it still a disappointment.
Not many things in that movie make sense. Mind you I love Wanda DOWN. If you asked me which was my favorite non-Steve MCU Project instead of film, I would have said WandaVision. But the way they set up this movie is so goddamn sloppy it makes me wonder who the Hell approved it. I liked the visuals, sure yeah, but that can only take a film so far. Starting off with my most nitpicky thing that I noticed right away is who the Hell decided to call the MCU Earth 616?! They could have said literally any other number but they're sticking to conflating the MCU with the comics? Why? Why would they do that?
Obviously the thing that disappointed me the most was...well, a lot of things. Concerning Wanda's use if her powers for one which was ridiculous. I've said this before but I'll say it again since I've outed myself as a powerscaler, the MCU is dogshit is utilizing the characters abilities. I- Yknow what, I can't even rant about this movie. Lmao, NEXT, but now you know!

More Thoughts on MoonKnight E4
I just really need to talk some more about this episode, I’m so sorry it’s not my usual content, but this episode has been niggling at my brain rent-free since it aired, to the point where I’ve had to rewatch it a few times and now my meta-brain which LOVES doing character studies has been firing all weekend and won’t leave me alone until I write this down. Spoilers, discussion about mental health, and frustration with a tired-assed trope below cut.
Please know, before I begin, what I know about DID is based on reading wikipedia and mental health resources online, and watching a few systems on YouTube. I am not a professional, just someone who reads a lot about mental health to help understand my own issues, as well as someone who likes doing fictional character studies as a hobby. PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong anywhere and please call out anything offensive, I will fix.
First though, I need to get this off my chest:
I’m frustrated with the pre-E5 theories (especially now that everyone is caught up to the press and no one knows what will happen) that insinuate Marc is “just crazy” and the whole series is all in his head and that the psych hospital was “the real world”, even though it’s SO FUCKING OBVIOUS it’s not (sharp and breakable objects everywhere should have been the first red flag).
I HATE HATE HATE those theories, and there are a couple big-name YouTube review channels that are dying on this hill (one was JUST uploaded this morning AGAIN), and it’s SO frustrating. I GET that Marc/Steven are unreliable narrators, and that’s the point of the show, but for some reason these theories specifically bug me. Not sure if it’s because:
It’s such a TIRED ASSED trope that I’ve seen done ad nauseam;
I can’t speak for anyone with DID, but... to me this theory seems SUPER insensitive?? Marvel SEEMS to already have kind of been trying to be treating this character and his disorder respectfully, and these reviewers’ are treating it like Marvel would take this route for a "what a TWIST!” in their penultimate episode, which with these shows have statistically been the “all plot threads are coming together and now the main lead understands themselves better” episodes (see WandaVision, FATWS, Hawkeye...). WandaVision explored Wanda’s past / psyche, and I think we’re getting that too with Marc/Steven/Third Alter. Or;
I’m low-key suffering second-hand embarrassment because this “everything or nothing is a dream” is the same stuff I’ve been through already with Sherlock, but to varying degrees and I’m just tired of it I guess. Maybe I’m having some mild flashbacks from that time, specifically with one theory I disagree with that I’ve talked about a few times.
I actually prefer and suspect, working on the data we already know about the characters (and again, probably as someone whose been through this all before with Sherlock and trying to figure out the whole “being shot” sequence), that this weird final 10 minutes is actually Marc’s version of Sherlock’s Mind Palace, sort of how Marc is coping with his own death, either in his Inner Space or within his own perception of the Egyptian underworld. The lights and everything falling sideways? Marc’s body being moved on the outside as someone is trying to save his life.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, some stuff I absolutely adored about this episode:
LAYLA. Holy shit, I want to marry her. I love her. Marc is a big dummy for pushing her away, and it’s no wonder Steven is smitten with her.
Steven is SO innocent and genuine, I love him so much. He instinctually knows what Marc should have done (by telling Layla why he was pushing her away), which in turn shows that Steven is the more empathic of the two. Marc even comments on it later that it was “unexpected” that Steven would have done that and that Layla reacted the way she did. Steven can read people better than Marc. I like that they’re showing each of them realizing their strengths in this episode.
Steven geeking out NEVER gets old for me. I relate to him so much, hahha.
Layla and Steven as a ship, it’s a sweet dynamic with chemistry that’s so innocent and genuine. I actually ship it more than Marc/Layla, but I, regardless, love the idea of Layla accepting Marc is a System and she will love all of them by the end of the series. Layla is seeing this whole other side to her husband that he has (understandably) hidden from her, and trying her best to understand it. I think through Steven she sees just how much her husband feels he has to hide from the world, and I think by this point she understands how much Marc is struggling and trying to show them that the system doesn’t have to be alone.
Love the payoff of two one-liners in this episode. The first is “I’ll throw us off a cliff”, which is followed up by Steven falling into the pit, literally looking like he was thrown into it. The second and more ominous one that foreshadows the climax of the episode is Steven asking Marc if “you’re gonna drown us now?” and Marc replies “Maybe.”... which kind of foreshadows Marc’s second death falling into the water and metaphorically drowning them both into the inner space/underworld.
Steven and Marc reuniting in the ward (more in next section). It was sweet and just showed how much they need each other.
Just Steven and Marc in general, slowly coming to understand each. I’m interested in what this will do with another alter introduced (it’s obvious to me that the “twist” in E5 will be the third alter introduction, which will be satisfying because they put the clues there since episode one for you to figure it out) into the system, and how they inevitably come to work together and learn that they all serve important functions for the system, and that they all need each other.
I loved the whole... aesthetic of this episode. Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones meets creepy fantasy-horror elements meets the fantastical meets psychological mindfuck.
GOD, Ethan Hawke is a FANTASTIC villain. Creepy, charismatic, vindictive, and cruel in a subtle way. Great choice.
Oscar’s acting, holy toledo. The confrontation scene with Harrow and Marc was AMAZING, and until Marc and Steven were on screen together, I didn’t realize how MUCH character Oscar put into each alter... I REALLY believed he had a twin acting alongside him. Amazing.
Only TWO gunshots, I think is SUPER SIGNIFICANT. One for Marc, one for Steven, both in the heart (which was established in an earlier episode was important for keeping in tact in Egyptian mummification... BRILLIANT Chekov’s gun getting its payoff in episode 5 or 6, I hope), because they’re the only two alters that Harrow knows about... I think it’s the THIRD alter, which I suspect is a Protector Alter for the system, will be the one who they need to learn to accept into the system and help them come back. This DELIBERATE showing of ONLY TWO shots, and BOTH into the heart was very good.
Taweret is so cute OMG. I’ve been learning a few things about her from Wiki and videos, and she isn’t just a fertility goddess, but also one who helps with REBIRTH, which I think is a BIG important theme... Marc / Steven / Altar 3 will be “reborn” as a full system who have learned to work together after their mind-journey in E5 (rather than hide from each other) to stop Ahmmet and Harrow.
And totally selfish: I REALLY want to be hugged by Oscar Isaac, OMG, that was such a snuggle hug that I crave so bad.
Finally, I need to talk about that WHOLE psych ward scene, because it was HEARTBREAKING for me. This show is doing a great job at having its audience sympathise with Marc and Steven, but I found that I was less invested in Marc UNTIL this scene. After just ten minutes, I adored him and I just wanted to give him a big hug, because this scene (after a rewatch) emphasizes just how chaotic Marc’s mind is, and how horrific his trauma that caused the DID must have been.
First, the fact that his inner-world is a psych ward screams to me that he has probably spent a LONG time in and out of hospitals just like it. It’s a place of familiarity, and probably “safety” of sorts for Marc as his dying mind retreats here to cope with it.
The fact that everyone he has ever met as either Marc or Steven in recent memory show up here makes me think that his initial reincarnation by Khonshu was traumatic enough to fracture the walls between he and Steven (given that there is a drawing of Khonshu in this memory palace, I am linking it to the resurrection). Every person they have recently interacted with affects them on a subconscious level... I haven’t worked out why it’s only recent people and not people from his past yet, but if rumours are true that E5 is about Marc’s childhood thru to his first death, I’m hoping that will be answered.
The dialogue in this WHOLE scene from various characters is SCREAMING to me that this is all shit Marc has had to deal with before: • With Layla, “You Won” vs “We won” vs “I won”: I’m wondering if Marc feels some sort of resentment towards Layla for something here. OR if because he, as Steven, not minutes before, uttered “We won” that this is fresh on his mind, and he’s feeling resentment for that. Hmm. • “Here you are, you’re favourite spot” from the cop-orderly, who parks Marc right in front of what INITIALLY seems like a wall, but is actually a reflective surface, and we also discover that he’s chained to his chair and drugged up the wazoo: I suspect that this has happened to Marc for real, and it fucking HURTS me. Drugged and tied up to a chair probably because his other unknown alter is a little-less-passive and probably is a Protector for the system... In turn that Protector – if Marc’s trauma got so bad he ended up in a hospital numerous times unwillingly – possibly fronted every time and fought all of the staff to the point of him needing to be drugged and chained to “stay calm”. And I imagine, in the past, he may have had an orderly take pity and let him sit in front of the only reflective surface they had in bright-light settings so he could talk to Steven at the very least.  Also, I think it’s important to point out, the absolute FEAR when Marc calls for Steven in this scene. It broke my heart because it suddenly clicked to me after a second rewatch that Marc can’t FEEL or even SEE Steven, and that’s why he’s scared – possibly it’s how he felt every time he was drugged, being forced to lose the person/people who helped him cope with his trauma... I feel like he and Steven, at one time, were aware of each other on the regular and shared a close bond, and every time Marc was forced into this similar situation, it terrified him because he COULDN’T FEEL STEVEN and as such, Steven couldn’t take that fear away from Marc (my theory is that Steven is the one who bears the weight of all the fear and anxieties the system has and just goes with it, so Marc dealing with that on his own is traumatic in itself) • With Harrow again in the Office: Basically everything he says SCREAMS shit Marc (and many other people with mental health issues and illnesses) has heard before... the gaslighting (making Marc question his reality); “you’re only sedated because of your own actions” (refer back to the Protector alter point I made above); Harrow belittling Marc’s need for Steven and Marc’s need to deflect; belittling Marc’s triggers; “I understand how you’re feeling [...] you can be healed... this one hurts the most because of HOW it’s said, more like “you’re broken and we can fix you and make you ‘normal’” which I’m sure he’s been told so many times by people in his life. • Finally, the reunion with Steven. Up until this point, the two seemed to have a bit of a contentious but begrudging respect for each other. This scene though... holy shit it was powerful. Marc and Steven reunite, and grip each other tightly, knowing now how much they need each other to survive. It’s a sweet scene that broke my heart, because here in the inner world (which Marc I think understands he’s in in some capacity) he can’t FEEL Steven, but if he sees him, knows he’ll be okay. I also find it interesting that Marc pointedly ignores the other sarcophagus, but if you watch Steven in the background you see him a bit puzzled as to why they’re bypassing it, even pointing at it behind Marc’s back. I think that’s important because I think Steven KNOWS on a subconscious level they need to free the third alter, but Marc – for some reason we do not know yet – is either oblivious to who is in there, or is not ready to face that trauma that caused the need for a third altar to begin with.
I think in the end, we will see all three come to an understanding that they need each other and all of their talents and skills will in turn make them a formidable opponent. I feel like the end will be their system finally working as one, and finally at peace with each other (if my understanding of the Lemire run of Moon Knight is correct, a similar thing happened at the end)
Also, kind of unrelated, but I think it would be interesting if by the end it’s STEVEN who fronts more than Marc, rather than the other way around, as a flip on the comics, which Marvel tends to do with their shows. I dunno, maybe I’m just biased because I love Steven, and I want to see him interact with the other characters, and because I want him to meet Dr. Strange and go “I’m Steven with a V!” because I adore his innocence and his ability to find positives in everything.
Anyway. I love this show. I look forward to see if Marvel either fucks it up completely (I have found – with the exception of Hawkeye – that all their final episodes for these shows have been really lacklustre, and I would hate for this one to just... fall at the end) or if they cement Moon Knight as a character I want to see more of. I think I like this show so much is BECAUSE it’s so detached from the MCU, it’s got a character that is GENUINELY interesting and so different that they’re actually putting focus on, and it’s a nice change of pace. I like the genre switch too, hope that we’re done with all the big blow-uppy shit and focus more on the supernatural, magical and psychological. Interested to see if this ties into MoM which comes out the week of the finale... I have a feeling they will, that timing (and the MoM reshoots and rewrites following the schedule reshuffling of the TV Shows) is NOT a coincidence, in my opinion.
Thanks for reading, all. I LOVE doing character studies so much. I’ll probably have more to say following Episode 5. We’ll see. E4 and 5 are usually the best ones of these shows.

MCU Phase 4 Rant
Phase 4 has really left me feeling empty and upset with the mcu so far so i wanted to rant about it just to clear my mind. if you disagree with anything i say, that’s fine but know that your different opinion does not in any way invalidate mine.
I honestly didn't have an issue with wandavision until the end of the show when she didn't face the consequences of her actions. she didn't intentionally hurt people, but she didn't accept the consequences when she learned she did. the bullcrap about her making a sacrifice or something was so dumb. and then the criminalizing the dude trying to FREE A TOWN OF ENSLAVED PEOPLE was ridiculous. its like, near the the end of the show they realized he wasn't a compelling villain so they tripled down and made him jump from trying to save the town to straight up ATTEMPTED CHILD MURDER OUT OF NO WHERE. like yea okay, sure.
falcon and the winter soldier made it seem like tony didn't care about the others and that cap would forget about sharon. that coupled with a nonsensical plot with a weak antagonist butchered the show. "do better" and "don't call them terrorists" were terrbiel lines that shouldn't have even left the drafting phase. then the race subplot with isaiah provides further retconning and other issues but it also felt forced given the blm protests and riots at the time of filming. and then the criminalization of john who, while he wasn't a good cap, wasn't even given the chance. he at least tried but nooo it's funny when the dora milaje try to MURDER him and lemar. at least it was entertaining and mackie and stan's chemistry was brilliant. i think, even though i didn't really like the show, it has the most rewatchability of the three.
loki hurt me the most as he was my favorite character. the plot itself was fine, but the characterization of loki was terrible. they completely glossed over, yet again, what happened to him between thor 1 and the avengers 2. additionally, despite giving him more powers, they nerfed him even further. they made him into a joke and then brought in sylvie like she was his superior which is just such an insult to loki and the fans who have been wanting this show for HIM for so long. he gets made into a joke, nerfed, and set aside to set up sylvie. yea we got some nice emotional moments and confirmation that he wasn't evil, but it was done in such a rushed and sloppy way. unfortunately, owen wilson and tom hiddleston's chemistry was not enough to save this show.
and we got black widow which was just so bad. bad writing, directing, characterization, etc. characters made illogical choices, had invincible plot armor, they butchered nats character so much (yea right like she'd not check in even once on the people from her past??? we know how much family means to her! and she makes such dumb decisions in the movie too). they turn potentially great, serious and emotional moments into flat out jokes. they disrespected the character so much in order to set up yelena. i just got into marvel during the pandemic as i needed something as a pick me up as i was going through a lot of crap. at the time, i felt it was the perfect time to come into the universe with all the shows coming out. i loved the shows when i first watched them as i was riding the high of experiencing them for the first time and when they first came out, but now that i have had time to digest them and think about them more, i am upset. they ruined so much and have really lowered any expectations i have of future installments. if i see any of the same directors or writers from these projects on future mcu projects, my expectations will immediately drop.

WANDAVISION EPISODE 6 THOUGHTS
Tumblr media
SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
GOOD GOD I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS
GIF NOT MINE
pietro maximoff as ‘himself’ | in the opening credits, pietro is introduced as playing himself? this just made me more suspicious about him and who he really is. it’s like wanda (since she’s the one broadcasting her show) trying to convince us, and herself, that this is her dead brother.
billy talking to us | i know tommy talks to the camera at the beginning for a brief minute but it’s mainly billy talking. i think this was a hint at his incoming powers. plus, in promo trailers for the ‘modern family’ episode, wanda’s the one talking to the camera. i bet we’ll see the kids talk to the camera in that episode but i just find it interesting that billy’s the one leading us through the beginning of the episode. plus, in rewatching the episode, pietro seems to be aware of billy talking to us and reacts to when billy talks about vision and wanda’s relationship going through a rough patch.
haydick hayward’s an ass | there’s no denying that hayward has something up his suspicious ass. first with showing the footage of wanda stealing vision’s body. then, putting in a missile and planning on killing wanda. yea, the five years were hard for everyone - no one’s denying it but there’s just something that isn’t right. we clearly see that he’s hiding something when darcy finds a file of sorts that only hayward can see and that he’s been able to track vision without telling the team. either he’s got a personal vendetta or he’s covering for something more sinister. personally, i think he’s just pissed that wanda, one of the most powerful beings in the universe, took away vision’s body when he needed it to create more weapons and whatever else he was planning. i wanted monica to punch him in the throat when he told her it was better that she wasn’t around when her mom died. bless monica for keeping her cool.
wanda’s interaction with herb | their brief interaction makes me believe that herb is just as aware as agnes (if she happens to be a victim in all this and not agatha harkness) about what’s happening. we got a hint about it in episode 3 when he tried to tell vision what geraldine’s purpose in westview was. we see him mimic agnes from the previous episode when he asks wanda if there’s anything she wants changed. he looks to her the same way agnes did when she was thrown off script. both these times involve vision throwing everything off. vision’s the one that’s been off script from the beginning of the episode this time around instead of after a weird event.
residents being in a loop or immobile | as vision gets farther from wanda and explores westview, it’s evident that there’s something off about the people. we get that shot of the woman and presumably her husband stuck in a time loop of hanging decorations and putting a pumpkin on the front steps. the woman not only sheds a tear but her hands look purplish presumably because of the cold or being stuck doing the same task for god knows how long. clearly, the woman’s in pain and is aware that she can’t break free. as vision gets closer to the loop, residents are completely immobile and stuck wherever they stand. it’s eerie and further proves that this may be wanda’s doing and wherever she is, it’s easy for the residents to be active or for her to control those near her. it could also mean that the closer you are to the hex’s border, that you become immobile as you’re farther removed from the fantasy life wanda has created.
yo-magic commercial | by far the creepiest and most disturbing commercial in the series. i’ve seen people theorize that this commercial is referring to wanda’s detainment on the raft in civil war. it would make sense since the yogurt could represent wanda’s powers and opening the lid should be simple and easy, just like using your powers. on the raft, wanda was detained with a straitjacket and a collar on her neck so she couldn’t use her magic. the island could represent the raft since it was in the ocean. ‘yo-magic, the snack for survivors’ could represent wanda being a survivor in many instances: strücker’s experiments, the battle of sokovia and the lagos incident.
pietro’s ‘part’ | when wanda questions pietro, he gets defensive about how he’s just trying to do his part: come unexpectedly, create tension with vision, stir up trouble with the twins, and ultimately give wanda grief. grief holding a double meaning. obviously, pietro did bring wanda grief when he died in 2015 but it also means to cause trouble which he has done since his arrival to westview. whenever wanda questions him about their childhood or tries to trip him up, pietro retorts with a question or makes rather meta remarks about westview.
the details are fuzzy | the comment pietro makes after a moment of silence between them. he claims he got shot in the middle of the street and next thing he knew wanda was calling her. i think when ‘pietro’ was brought into the westview reality, his memories mixed with those of wanda’s pietro or skewed them at least - it’s probably why things seem hazy to him and can see that wanda doesn’t believe him to be the pietro she remembers. pietro knows he looks different to wanda and it’s like a comment to us because even though pietro only appeared in one movie with wanda - we the audience know he’s not the same actor. this could also be mephisto really mind tripping wanda because she would remember what her brother looked like but the memories are remembered differently. enough to keep her on edge with him and make her suspect but not want to because he also says “i knew you needed me” no stranger would say that right? of course, siblings and family can tell when another member needs them. this episode really makes you laugh at pietro’s antics but go down a rabbit hole with every line he says.
the hex’s effects on people | when darcy explains to monica that her cells have been greatly affected by her entrance and departure from the hex, it doesn’t seem like monica is surprised. maybe this is hinting that monica already has her powers or simply mean that she’s putting on a poker face to hide her fear (or astonishment) at wanda’s level of power. it’s interesting to see if wanda’s gonna be responsible for birthing some mutants or at least awakening the x gene if it hasn’t already. does it mean that anyone can simply leave or that if you leave, you’ll come out with serious side effects that are possibly life threatening? monica states at the end that she’s seen cells in remission which makes me believe that this is hinting at the x gene. we’ve seen what the hex does once you go in, but what happens if an ordinary westview resident leaves?
agnes and vision | we see agnes in her car supposedly leaving town or as she claims, she got ‘lost’. when vision takes her out of her trance, agnes seems shaken and even questions if she’s dead. she also seems to confirm that wanda is the one controlling everyone because she doesn’t even let them think about leaving westview. we see more of where vision’s memory stands because he doesn’t remember (or know) that he was an avenger and that he died (twice). when she says that all is lost, she quickly starts laughing maniacally like a witch. this again makes me think that agnes knows more than anyone what’s going on. assessing what she got from vision, she’s probably laughing because it’s amazing to her that wanda’s gotten so powerful and maybe everything is going according to plan - she just possibly couldn’t overcome wanda’s control and only has a heightened awareness of the situation. there’s no mention of ralph this episode and you would think she’d bring along her husband to leave and go to her desired destination in town. i don’t know, i still think she’s got an ulterior motive and plays a bigger part in all of this.
the twins’ conversation | after sharing a sweet moment, pietro quickly calls out the obvious - the kids. only in episode 3 did children finally come into the show through billy and tommy. now, for halloween, all the kids are out and enjoying halloween. pietro, like rapid fire, remarks that wanda probably kept them peacefully asleep in their beds and didn’t wake them until now for the “occasional holiday episode cameo” so as not to traumatize them even more since she’s always been the “empathetic twin”. he seems to know that this is all in a television reality which gives him even more awareness than any other supporting character we’ve met so far. he even goes into assessing (and somewhat praising?) wanda’s handling of this whole westview reality as ethically possible. he knows that wanda wouldn’t rewrite everything: couples and families stay together and personalities aren’t far off from what they are. with this, it heavily hints that this isn’t the pietro we’ve known in the mcu or the peter from the x-men universe. to me, this furthers the point that this ‘pietro’ is just a puppet for whoever is behind all this (or just a multiverse version of piet) since he seems more impressed than anything by wanda’s powers. also, he’s been the only one to ask what we’ve all been thinking since the first episode: how the hell did wanda do this? once again, wanda doesn’t remember how all of it started which still makes me thinks she was probably taken advantage of by someone and earlier in the episode when recounting a childhood memory, pietro comments that she’s probably suppressed the trauma hence why she doesn’t remember it the same way. at the end, this could all be wanda’s doing due to her feeling so alone and grieving that she may have suppressed that memory of how this all started.
pietro’s corpse | again, us the audience and wanda are reminded that this universe’s pietro is dead. it’s another person closest to wanda that isn’t alive - harking back to her comment about feeling so alone and endless nothingness. this may just be that when wanda lets her guard down and is possibly at peace with a situation, this one being of her accepting that this is the pietro that’s going to be her brother that sticks with her moving forward, she’s reminded of the truth - none of it is real and she can’t bring them back.
vision’s breakout from the hex | as we’ve seen in promos, vision is able to break through the hex. what we were hit with was vision nearly getting killed...again. it seems that he can’t live beyond the hex either due to him just being parts when wanda recovered him or because wanda won’t let him go. either way, vision can’t live outside of westview. it physically seems like wanda can’t let him go because as he steps out of the hex and is being torn apart, the hex looks like it’s trying to pull him back into it. i know the hex was wanda’s doing but this physically makes it seem as if wanda can’t let him go and is holding him back. it’s kind of true because since vision became more aware, he’s been breaking away from wanda and she’s been trying to keep him in place and on script so that they can be happy together. in their fight in the previous episode, she says that all of this is for them as to say that everything she’s doing is for their happiness. it’s a twisted way of showing how vision can’t live without wanda since it seems that she’s the one keeping him alive.
wanda expanding the hex | wanda’s clearly gotten more powerful over the years and this episode really shows us how fucking powerful she is on her own. it’s hysterical that the base and the most of the agents are turned into circus acts such as clowns. i’ll admit i’m upset darcy got sucked in and not hayward. i’m very interested to see who monica’s guy on the outside is. with wanda expanding the hex, it’s becoming more evident that wanda may be the ‘villain’ of the show or if there is someone else behind all of this, we may not see them until multiverse of madness. still, i believe wanda is victim in some capacity - even if it means she’s fallen victim to her trauma and grief.

General off-the-cuff Loki thoughts now that the series is over:
First, let's just get this out of the way - I want to rewatch the entire thing, pillar to post, as I think going through it without the weekly speculation and expectations will make a difference.
Confession time: I wasn't a fan of the whole Loki/Sylvie romance angle and am still forming my opinions of Sylvie's character as a whole. (I will need to go back and rewatch the whole series before making judgements.) I almost wish she wasn't a variant, as I think her character would have been stronger if she didn't have those ties to our Loki.
This being said, I, on the whole, enjoyed her character, even if she felt a little one-dimensional at times. (I would have liked to have seen more flashbacks to her on the run to really dig into that need for revenge.)
Loki is not the same god of mischief by the end of the show. Not that this is bad - just different. And I'm still figuring out my opinions and interpretations of the whole thing, which waxed and waned depending on the context. Loki with Mobius and the rest of the TVA? A Grade. Loki with his own Variants? A+++++ Loki with Sylvie? Still working on that, as there were parts I loved and parts I really had a difficult time with.
Top 10 emotional right hooks to the jaw? Loki watching Frigga's & his own deaths; Loki realizing the TVA (Kang) is a greater power than he could ever imagine; Loki and Sylvie's conversation on the train; Classic Loki; Mobius not recognizing Loki at the end of the series; Kang's whole...thing; Miss Minutes jump scare; jet skis; the hug; the apocalypse (Ragnarok) realization
Honestly, I wish we had had more Sylvie and Mobius interactions
Loki had the best camaraderie with Mobius
I. LOVED. THE. VARIANTS.
Best character of the show: Crocki, obviously
By the end, I was less invested in Loki's development than the whole mystery revolving around the TVA, which only skyrocketed with Kang's reveal. I am now VERY intrigued as Loki and Sylvie (and Mobius and Hunter B-20) just blew up the timelines.
I did appreciate the greater meta revolving around free will and how we define our identities (internally, externally, or a bit of both?)
Natalie Holt killed it with the score. Enough said there.
This finale was so much much better than either Wandavision (as much as I loved Agatha, she kind of came out of nowhere) or FatWS (was not a fan of the Flagsmashers, Bucky and John Walker needed a little more development, and as much as I love Sam, the costume and speech totally threw me). Kang was believable and didn't feel like some kind of deus ex machina, especially considering that he wasn't defeaated. Also, I have mentioned this before, but holy hell, Jonathan Majors, yes, please.
I read a comment on Reddit that I think was a great observation in that Loki - our Loki - has again lost everything. He's dumped into a different timeline, no more Sylvie, no more Mobius as a friend; no family; no timeline he can go back to; and stuck with the knowledge of Kang's ascendancy with no one to listen. Our poor boy.
I wonder what Sylvie's future is going to be in the MCU, as I sincerely doubt this is the last we've seen of her.
I DEMAND MORE CROCKI. WHERE IS MY SON? IS HE SAFE? IS HE ALRIGHT?
So...Kang was deciding on which timelines passed muster. Why did he choose this particular one? Was it only because these were the only events that would keep the peace? Or was there something else?
This also makes Infinity War and Endgame just feel...like a footnote. But also opens up so many possibilities in terms of variations we can see of our characters. It's going to be insane.
On the whole, I loved this show. It wasn't at all what I was expecting - I ended up far more invested in the greater mystery of the multiverse than Loki's development, but I'm okay with that.
This means Loki - some form of him, at least, is showing up in Dr. Strange, correct?
Also, a Season 2 means the possibility of MORE CROCKI ALL HAIL YESSSSSSSSSSS
On the whole, I enjoyed this show, occasional warts and all, as it was a great piece of storytelling above all else: 9/10

April 2021 Picks
Tumblr media
And we’re back with the end to another month. April! Wow! Lots more great picks to talk about this time. Lots of new ones to the list too. So, let’s dive in!
Spoiler territory ahead!
Tumblr media
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER
or should I say Captain America and the Winter Soldier
I just finished the finale last night, so it felt right to start off with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I really enjoyed it and I feel the episodes got stronger as the series went on. Each one felt like a mini-movie and I was upset it was over and had to wait another week for another one. I think the finale was my favorite. Especially the reveal of Sam as Captain America. I love his suit, his speech and the montage of everyone watching him. The last part of the episode was definitely my favorite and one I can watch on repeat. I loved seeing happy Bucky and him goofing off with the kids in Louisiana. He deserves so much happiness as he has now accepted he’s no longer who he once was. Bucky and Sam’s relationship is fantastic and I can’t wait to see it more. I know there’s a possibility of a second season and they have to be in a future MCU movie. Regarding the villain, I feel I was confused for most of the show as to what their objective was. I’m curious if this is because they had to reshoot parts during the pandemic. I also am mad with Sharon. Like what happened with her? She is definitely the true villain of the show. I also don’t love that we haven’t seen the end of Walker (but Wyatt Russell did a fantastic job). I also loved Torres and I hope he becomes the next Falcon. Definitely so different vibes from Wandavision, but just as good!
Tumblr media
THE IRREGULARS
This is a show that more people need to be talking about! It was SO GOOD! I feel like I heard some buzz about it when it first came out, but not much after. It follows the teens featured about who live on the streets during Victorian London. The leader of their group, Bea gets approached by Dr. John Watson (that’s right...as in Sherlock and Watson) to take on a case that has more supernatural qualities. The story takes off from there. I think the group dynamic was fantastic. There wasn’t a character I didn’t like and each one brought something else important to the group (which they even bring up towards the end of the show). [I’ve watched a few cast interviews since finishing the finale and they seem like they get along really well in real life too.] There is a kind of love triangle, but it didn’t bother me and was over fast. I did like both combinations though. Lots of twists and turns along the journey. I have no idea if there will be another season, but there should be. It didn’t end on a major cliffhanger, but definitely ended in a way where it could continue nicely. Come on Netflix.
Tumblr media
HBO’S THE NEVERS
From one show set in Victorian times to the next. The Nevers just premiered on HBO and HBO Max earlier this month. It follows an ensemble of characters, similar to other HBO shows, ranging from characters who are called “the touched” to men in government who are against them. Being “touched” means they have a special talent or power, which can range from healing to speaking other languages, being extremely tall, or being an expectational inventor (I seriously love Penance. I just don’t know how to explain her ability). Amalia True and Penance Adair are two of the main characters and they help bring in others who are touched to a remodeled orphanage that is a safe haven for people like them. Of course there are those who are against them existing. This seems to be at least two groups as someone is abducting and experimenting on some of the touched, but we don’t know who they are...yet. I love the fusion of a historical setting with a fantasy element. I am very excited to see where the show is headed. I also love seeing so many of my favorite British actors on the screen together.
Tumblr media
ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND
Time for a throw back. Fans of ABC’s Once Upon a Time might remember the short lived spin off following Alice in Wonderland (and some of Aladdin). It only lasted for one season of 13 episodes, but I remember loving it and I am so happy I can rewatch it on Disney Plus. It reminds me of why I enjoyed OUAT so much and I think this show deserved another season or more crossover with the original show. (Luckily the Knave got that opportunity.) I think it should have aired as a summer show or when OUAT was on hiatus, this way more fans would have tuned in. It is something I’ll believe forever.
Anyway, I’ll stop ranting now... I love Alice. I think she’s a badass and a fierce warrior. If you follow some of my posts on my other blog, Lydia-yougowith-Stiles, you’ll know that I love a warrior romance and Cyrus and Alice fit that perfectly (even if they are apart for much of the series). I also love Alice’s hair and outfits. Everything about her is cool. Her relationship with the Knave is one of my favorite friendships ever. I think they balance each other out so well and how they spend most of the journey together. Back in the day, I totally shipped them, but now I definitely don’t. (Even though I don’t love Anastasia.) This is definitely worth the watch if you’ve ever heard of Once Upon a Time or not. There is very cheesy CGI especially for 2013, but once you get pass that you’ll love it.
Tumblr media
ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST
It was on a longer break than I expected, and I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I would (which I know doesn’t sound good for a show), but I am still loving all the episodes this season. It feels like there are more musical numbers, which I love. Mandy Moore is killing it with the choreography. There are so many amazing moments. I also was a big fan of the newest glitch episode. Everyone is so talented and I also like that we’ve started to hear from more like Jenna and Tobin. Leif has become one of my favorites. I don’t love the new neighbor next door, but I think we’re done with his storyline. I’m not loving the Zoey love triangle, but I do like her with either Simon or Max. She seems really happy with Simon now. (FYI: I haven’t watched the most recent episode yet. The glitch one was my latest.) Can’t wait for more!
Tumblr media
KUNG FU
CW’s newest show this month was Kung Fu, which I just learned was a reboot. It follows Nicky who returns after 3 years to her home in San Francisco. Her family has mixed feelings as she has had no contact with them for the last 3 years. She is now a Kung Fu master and warrior, out to avenge her mentor’s death and stop a villain from acquiring mythical weapons. The show gives me Arrow vibes every time I watch it. It has similar flashbacks each episode to an earlier time in Nicky’s life. While Nicky’s mission is different, the style just gives me early seasons of Arrow vibes, which I am not complaining about. It stars Legacies’ Alyssa Chen, who I didn’t love on Legacies, but instantly fell in love with Nicky. I think she’s a bad ass character and love how she’s fighting for the underdogs on the streets of San Fran, while also taking down a bigger evil. The love triangle is heating up and I’m definitely team Henry (even though there’s some mystery there). I think he’s great and once again we have an awesome warrior romance. They balance each other so well and it’s only been like 3 episodes. Now they’ve also been sleuthing together and it’s just amazing.
Tumblr media
NANCY DREW
Are you sick of hearing me talk about CW’s Nancy Drew? I hope not because I’m going to fangirl again. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I can’t wait till Wednesday comes and I tune in a little after it starts, so then I can fast forward on my DVR. Then when the episode is over I basically start it all over again and watch select scenes that were awesome. (More specifically, they tend to be Nancy and Ace scenes because I love them and we’re entering so much angst I don’t know if my heart will be able to handle it!!!)
I’ll say it a thousand times: THIS CAST IS EVERYTHING! Their dynamic is amazing. You can have any match ups and it’ll be a great time. There is not one person I don’t like. I was so upset that there wasn’t a new episode last week (especially because it was my birthday). I loved the last one with the Hardy Boys and that Nace reveal! OMG! I’m so sad that Grant has left again because we barely had him, but I feel he’ll eventually come back. He has to. I loved the ending when he spoke to Thom by signing to him. (My heart!) I seriously can’t say enough great things about this show. It is not your typical CW show and deserves more love and views. So happy a third season has already been confirmed!!
LAST NOTES
Just started Shadow and Bone on Netflix and am loving it! I’m sure I’ll have an entire post dedicated to it when I’m done. (Currently going to start episode 6.) I have no background on the universe or the books (just what my sister is filling me in with as we watch). I definitely plan on reading Six of Crows after this!
Tumblr media
So what are you enjoying? Let me know. I’m always looking for more shows to add to the list! Can never have enough.

Rewatching Wandavision after scrolling through Tumblr for hours, here we go let's see what else I notice
Oh I forgot how cool the MARVEL logo fading into black and white was
The way she just puts the sold sign on adds to the self-made fantasy feeling
the way she cleans the dishes feels so unnatural
"well that explains the empty refrigerator"
I would celebrate a national holiday for Wanda and Vision
"My mother in law was in town. So J wasn't."
Yeah it was definitely a moving company not me & my husbands magic powers
She doesn't know how long she and Vision have been together, adding to the feeling of how this was all set up
Gee Willikers!
I love Vision questioning what he does in the company
ah yes, I am human like you
he wore a turtle neck
The death rate of single men is twice that of married men
The phone call is so jslsndheusjbahd the misunderstanding is killing me
The commercial woman is so robotic
"Forget the past this is your future"
(I don't think I need to mention the way the toaster is representing the Stark bomb)
I forgot to mention that my wife who has an American accent is from Europe, don't mind my British accent
Mrs. Hart is so unsettling, I don't know if it's just me remembering the "stop it" thing every time she talks or what
Ah yes, Old MacDonald, the best way to make your guests welcome
"yeeeeeees it's... a pet name for me."
Wanda's dress I just can't
"The man selling telegrams"
The questions they ask are setting her off because she doesn't have the answers set up yet
"Leave them alone they're setting up their story"
Vision seems so confused, he doesn't know why he can't seem to find an answer
Holy shit that scene is so creepy
Wanda is making everything ideal again, he's getting the promotion, they leave happy, and everything else
Wanda only makes something as soon as it needs to exis, the rings show up after she notices they're missing, etc. etc.
THE CREDITS I FORGOT
i'll do a separate post for episode two, this is already super long

I cannot even begin to express my love for WandaVision but I certainly tried:
Ok so I just rewatched WandaVision (and had the pleasure of witnessing someone watching it for the first time) and I feel the need to once again express how incredible this show is, on literally every level. The viewer experience ranges from shock to heartbreak and everything in between. It’s unbelievably thrilling and exciting to watch and uncover the mystery as you go. It’s a show that’s so complicated and confusing when you first watch it, and as things start clearing up until the last episode, it just becomes clear that this show is simply about Wanda’s grief. It’s devoted to character depth and development in the most beautiful way possible. I loved Wanda since the moment she made her (extremely iconic) entrance in Age of Ultron, but never once did I think she would end up being the focus of something like this. She was always so badass, but now she’s so much more.
The show takes you on a journey through the decades, each one representing a stage of Wanda’s grief. The level of sheer detail and thought put into the show is incredible, and that really becomes clear with the decade evolution. Each costume, hairstyle and set piece are all accurate, down to the camera lenses used by the cinematographer. That made it so much more fun, intriguing, thorough, and detailed. I’m honestly still stunned. Not only does it take you on a visual journey, but a mental and emotional journey. The whole show is so unbelievably shocking, confusing, and heartbreaking. 90% of the show is just one hint, easter egg, and cliffhanger after another. Not to mention the fact that you really have no clue what the hell is going on for the first 3 episodes. It’s by far the boldest project Marvel’s ever released, certainly the most creative, and because of all of that, I have a feeling it’ll remain my favorite show released by Marvel. I genuinely still can’t believe they did that. BUT THANK GOD THEY DID.

Life and Happiness: Logan x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You’ve been really depressed lately and Logan helps comfort you in his own way. (sort of college AU?)
Words: 1100+
Warnings: Some angst, hurt/comfort, reader is kinda sassy, reader is also depressed (not su*cidal depressed though so no mention of that)
Author’s Notes: Got the idea for this while rewatching “Why Do We Get Out of Bed in the Morning,” basically a self therapy fic lol. I’m more likely to listen to Logan than I am to myself so why not put the words in his mouth? Also I’m thinking about opening Sanders Sides requests again after I finish my WandaVision requests so this is kinda a warm-up for that ig lol

“Are you alright?”
You look up to see a somewhat familiar face, or at least you think so. It’s a guy you’ve seen in one of your classes, the one always sitting at the front and wearing a tie as if it’s a special occasion. He seems nice enough, but you’ve never really talked to him.
His words bring you back to reality a bit, your attention moving from your thoughts to your surroundings. It’s dark, it’s late, and no one else is around except for you and him. You’re sitting on an uncomfortable bench with a bag of work you’ve barely touched, and honestly you’re not even sure if you had any intention to do it at all tonight.
“Oh...I’m fine,” you finally say, forcing a smile.
He shakes his head, “It’s not safe to be alone at night. Do you want me to walk you to your dorm?”
“I…” you sigh. “I don’t really want to go back there,”
“Roommate troubles? I understand that,” he laughs.
“No, it’s not that,” you fidget with your hands. “I guess I just feel like I don’t deserve to go get some rest right now, ya know?” you try to play the heavy statement off as a joke, but his face clearly molds to concern.
He sits down next to you, “Taking a break and sleeping aren’t things you earn, they’re necessities. Why don’t you think you deserve to rest?”
“Because I haven’t gotten anything done today, I guess, I don’t know,” you shrug, clenching your fists a bit to hold the tension in. “And I hate myself for it. I just…” you reach for your bag to pack it up. “Never mind, it doesn't matter. You probably don’t get that anyway, you seem like the kind of person that’s good at everything,”
He stops you, taking your bag and setting it aside, “That’s not true,”
“Really?” you exhale. “You don’t have to be modest, man. It’s just a fact,”
“No, that’s your opinion, actually,” he says. “There’s a big difference,”
“Fine, then my opinion is that everything’s probably come easy to you all your life and you don’t understand how I feel right now. Happy?”
“Actually, come to think of it, that’s an assumption, not an opinion,”
“Whatever,” you smirk, almost letting out a genuine laugh. “How about you tell me the facts then, Mr. Know-It-All,”
“My name is Logan,”
“Know-It-All refers to your last name,”
“My last name is Sanders, actually,”
You chuckle, “Alright, Logan Know-It-All Sanders. I’m Y/N,”
“Geez, you’re almost as bad as my roommate,” he huffs. “But pleased to meet you, Y/N,”
“Your roommate gives you nicknames?”
“At least eight times a day, yes,”
“Ah,” you nod. “Alright, I’m sorry, what were you saying?”
“I was saying,” he emphasizes. “That your assumptions about me are completely untrue. I do enjoy learning, yes, but that doesn’t mean it comes easy to me. I have to work hard and study just like everyone else, and sometimes I fall short and fail. Many times, actually. I’m not ‘good at everything,’ I put effort and practice into the things I want to be good at, and eventually I get good at them,”
“Hmm,” your smile fades. “Still, you’re very naturally motivated to do all that. I’m just...not,”
“Why’s that?”
“I’’m only here because I have to be. If I don’t get some sort of higher education I have less of a chance of getting a good job, and I’d like to have at least a somewhat stable life. I gave up on my dreams a long time ago, I’m just trying to survive,” you don’t know why you’re venting to this guy you barely know, yet now that you’ve started you can’t stop. “But it’s not just that. Everything feels wrong, I feel empty, I feel nothing. School isn’t the only thing that brings me down, it’s just life in general. It’s like the weight of the world isn’t just on my shoulders, it’s actively pushing down on them, and it’s just a matter of time until I break,” your face falls to your hands, covering your watery eyes. He probably thinks you’re crazy or overreacting, you should’ve just let him walk you home and not bothered him with your problems.
“Is it happiness that’s left you, or living?” he asks.
You look at him, your voice croaking from holding everything in, “What?”
“You said you don’t feel anything and you’re just trying to survive. So which has truly left you, happiness or the figurative ‘feeling’ of living?”
“I’m...not sure,”
“The way I see it, we are never promised happiness. It’s never a guarantee, it’s not a right, it’s not something we can always count on. Emotions come and go, and just because it’s a positive one doesn’t change that. But living…” he grins. “Living is a gift. Just the fact that you’re here is amazing. You’re breathing, you’re you. It can be easy to forget that, but it’s true. Your life in and of itself has meaning, no matter what you choose to do with it. You may feel like you’re only surviving and working towards the bare minimum, but you’re alive. I guess that’s why I’ve never understood when people feel worthless if they’re not achieving their dreams and greatness and the like, just being alive and experiencing the world seems like enough to me,”
You stare blankly at him, not sure what to say.
“I really shouldn’t keep you any longer,” he checks his watch and hands you your bag. “How about that walk back now?”
You nod, getting up and walking in the direction of your dorm.
It’s a relatively silent stroll, nothing except your breathing and a few cricket chirps. Logan offers to carry your things, leaving you empty handed until you hit your destination. You appreciate the gesture, you just hope he’s not only doing it out of pity.
“I know you believe you don’t deserve it, but I really urge you to get some rest,” he turns to you at the doorway, handing you back your bag.
“I’ll try my best,” you nod with a smile. “Thank you, Logan. For everything,”
“Of course,” he smiles back, handing you a piece of paper as he leaves. “Let me know if you ever need anything,”
You look down to see his number scribbled on the paper, and he waves to you again before turning around the corner.
You never thought Logan Sanders would be the one bringing you comfort on a night like this, but here you are.
And you really hope he’ll do it again.

Final Goodbye
Paring: Billy x Tommy Maximoff
Warning(s): Angst, heartache
Word count: 700
Summary: We know how it ended with Wanda and Vision but what about the boys? What did Billy and Tommy do after their parents left the room?
A/N: IM SORRY!! Please forgive me! I was rewatching Wandavision and this story popped into my head and I needed to get it out. I cried while writing this...

“Boys...” Wanda murmured, looking lovingly at her two children.
Tommy and Billy silently met their mother’s gaze, seeing only sadness and fear as visible tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
“Thanks for choosing me to be your mom.” Wanda whispered. Vision stood in the doorway silently, both watching as their son’s curled up under their blankets.
Billy could feel the energy coming off of Wanda and it broke his heart because inside he knew what was about to happen and he was absolutely terrified. Tommy, usually being a talkative kid just lay there quietly. They gave their mother and father one last smile before they left. Within seconds the room was quiet and the buzzing sound in the distance from the energy field as it approached became more obvious.
Billy closed his eyes as focused hard, his powers allowing him to see the images of Westview reverting back and catch a glimpse of his father’s last moments with his mom which only made him gasp. He bit down on his lip but couldn’t hold back the tears as he let the fear and realisation hit him. He pulled his blanket up to muffle the loud sobbing and so not to alert their parents.
“Billy?” Tommy had heard his twin brother’s whimpers and slipped out of bed without an ounce of speed.
He climbed up onto his bed, only managing a glance outside and seeing the red energy field getting closer, a sigh leaving him as he curled up under the duvet with Billy wrapping his arms around his younger twin as tightly as he could. He could feel tears welling in his eyes but he ignored them. He needed to be strong, for his brother .
Billy just buried his head into Tommy, allowing the tears to come streaming out. “I’m scared... I don’t want to leave you I don’t want to leave dad and w-we can’t leave mom... she’ll be alone.” He said desperately, his wails still muffled slightly.
“I know... I know, I’m scared too, but you’re not leaving dad or me. I’m with you until the end.” He said softly as he subconsciously held him tighter. “Mom will be alright... she’s an avenger, you know she can do anything.”
“She can bring us back... she can fix the dead, maybe... she can?” Billy said, calming down just a bit to try and think.
Tommy only sighed as he fell silent, listening to the buzz sound of energy field . “She can only try...” He whispered.
“You mean so much to me, thanks for being the amazing brother I never knew I’d have. I’m sorry for always hogging our games.” Billy randomly confessed, earning a small chuckle from his brother.
“You’re kick-ass, Bill.” He said, resting his head on top of his brother’s head and leaning back into the pillow.
Billy closed his eyes and watched as the energy field rounded the corner and fast approached the house, he could hear his heart pounding in his ears. The fear was real. It was time.
“I love you, Tommy.... I love you.” Billy choked out as he burst into tears again, clinging tightly onto his brother.
“I love you too, Billy.” Tommy said softly in rely, feeling his own tears begin to fall but this time making no effort to stop them. He closed his eyes tightly, fighting the urge to use the last of his speed to get them to safety.
Billy closed his eyes as well and saw his parents together for the last time. There was so many things he wanted to say to her, thank her for but, the pain in Wanda’s eyes matched the feeling of acceptance and he knew she would be ok. He knew he would see her again soon.
“Goodbye... mom, thank you.” He mentally whispered to her, one last tear rolling down his face as he returned his mind to his brother.
The room around them changed and both boys hugged each other tightly as they faded into thin air, along with the reality that they had called home. Their last thought was of their parents and them together, happy, because let’s be real...
Family is forever.

If you've watched it yet, what are your thoughts on WandaVision? If you haven't, have a good evening and I hope your weekend gives you a chance to relax!
I did a full rewatch recently! I actually watched it more or less as it came out last year -- I think I watched the first five episodes at once, then the others as they came out. I went in...mostly blind, tbh? Before last year I hadn't kept up with the MCU since 2014 (I had only seen three MCU films that came out after TWS, which was when I more-or-less topped watching); I'd never actually seen Wanda or Vision in anything, which was an interesting way to experience it for sure, but I am really good at putting contextual clues together to work out previous occurrences. I don't have super strong feelings about Wanda or Vision as characters and I also don't necessarily have very strong feelings about it as part of the MCU or whatever Phase Four's Plan is. (I suspect with Phase Four I'm going to need to see the whole thing to figure out how I feel about it as a whole.)
But I did enjoy it a lot. I think it did some really clever things; it was explicable to me as someone who was barely familiar with any of the characters involved, which, considering the MCU, is not a given. I think it will be interesting to see what happens from there (which is kind of a Phase Four problem, tbh, it's not unique to WV). It did make me care about the characters and I'm pretty sure I cried a couple of times (I cry at everything, though). I'm really impressed by how well they hit the specific speech/environment tones for each sitcom decade, especially once we got into the eras that I am familiar from growing up with them ('90s and '00s); that was very definitely, like, full body sudden flashback. I don't have like really serious thoughts on it because I don't really care strongly about anyone involved and it does kind of feel like set-up (which is a huge Phase Four problem), but I liked it and I'd watch it again.
also a friend of mine actually consulted on the Latin for Agatha's flashback -- way back in the Before Times, someone from the production staff e-mailed the classics department at my university asking for help and included some truly terrible Google Translate Latin and my friend (who was a VAP at the time) and at least one other prof in the department changed it to make it accurate, so that Latin: it's accurate. When that episode aired, Disney sent them a bunch of WandaVision swag. (I don't think they're actually credited, because I've gone through the credits for that ep a few times and I've never seen their names.) So...that happens when you live in Atlanta, where Marvel does a bunch of their production. I have soft spot for WandaVision for that reason. (Ant-Man and the Wasp also filmed at my university, and Hawkeye filmed at the university I'm adjuncting at right now. Loki somewhat infamously filmed at the Marriott Marquis downtown. A number of other Marvel films have been filming here -- I think Black Panther 2 is right now but not around where I am -- but those are the ones who have filmed in places I've been. Well, the infamous airport fight in CACW too. Hashtag just Atlanta things lol.)

tagged by @jivewise; thanks!
rules: tag nine people you want to know better.
three ships: Steve/Loki might be my favorite ship; it’s one of very few I’ve actually written for. definitely fond of Loki/Valkyrie. and I guess I do genuinely ship Loki/Sylvie--for various reason I might’ve been happier if the show hadn’t made it explicitly romantic, but it’s a canon queer ship for my boy, and they’re both so cute, and the fanart is great, and also there’s pain, and the anti-Sylki stuff from disgruntled Lokius shippers is, uh...well, I did say their behavior would make me start genuinely shipping Sylki out of sheer spite, and here we are.
last song: apparently, “You Are The One” by A Place To Bury Strangers, because it’s in my huge playlist of completely random songs I got from completely random places
last movie: uhhhhh. I...don’t know? I mean, the last movie I saw in theaters was Birds of Prey...and the last disc I stuck in my Xbox was the show recording for Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba, which is not actually a movie (and I was only playing it because I wanted to drown out my asshole neighbors’ noise and we were close enough to our data cap that I didn’t want to stream anything)...I think it might have actually been Haywire, which was months ago, and I only watched it because I’d been vaguely interested when it came out and it was about to leave Tubi or one of the other free streaming sites. no, wait, around the end of July I watched Burrow, a short film on Disney+. and a couple weeks before that I watched Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth, a different and longer short film on Apple TV+. does that count?
currently reading: The Night Manager by John Le Carré, because I liked the show a lot (primarily for...reasons that I imagine are obvious) and had some mild fic/headcanon ideas about a specific scene, so I figured I might as well read the version that actually lays out Jonathan’s thoughts about various events to see if I’m totally off base. (verdict: nah, I was dead on about some of it, and I still had a reasonable interpretation for the part that wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the book.) in general it’s, hmm, in that genre of media that I’m pretty sure I’m too stupid to appreciate entirely because apparently I need a lot more things spelled out for me? (if the word “intrigue” shows up anywhere in a plot description, I’m probably lost. or even if it doesn’t but it could.) and of course there are various passages that make me roll my eyes about cis straight dudes, and I’m partial to the show (again for reasons that are probably obvious, but also because we don’t get Jonathan’s internal monologue in the show and sometimes he thinks some shitty straight-dude things about women), but it’s still interesting, and there’s the occasional passage that makes me sit up and go “well okay, dude can write, damn.”
currently watching: nothing, I guess. I’ve been meaning to rewatch the whole Loki show now that it’s all out, and I still need to watch the behind-the-scenes episode for it, plus several other things on Disney+ (WandaVision, TFatWS, The Mandalorian, What If I guess, behind-the-scenes stuff about Disneyland/WDW that my dad mentioned yesterday, probably other things I’m forgetting), but I don’t have Disney+ right now and I don’t want to use the 30-day code I have until I think I’ll make better use of it than I did the two months I bought. which is impossible to know because I’m just...very bad at TV, somehow. I was watching Earth At Night In Color, See, and Ted Lasso with the last few days of the free year-and-a-half Apple TV+ subscription I ended up mostly wasting...and that’s definitely not “current” because it was over a month ago. uh, I’ve also had an anon message in my askbox for a week or so recommending Crash Course Mythology’s videos on tricksters, so that’s something else I’ve been meaning to watch.
currently consuming: just ate some lasagna
currently craving: if you mean a food item, 95% of the time when I’m craving something, my brain and body very helpfully refuse to tell me what it is, and the other 5% of the time it’s something that isn’t available to me. for non-food, I don’t know, I’m always craving more Loki merch.
gonna tag, um... @ladylowkeyed @taaroko @bedlamsbard @simuran @aurorawest @swinging-stars-from-satellites @adreamer67 @iamanartichoke @scintillatingshortgirl19 but only if you feel like it, of course. and/or anybody else who sees this and wants to do it should consider themselves tagged

bc anon again hello anyway AAAAAAAA SO SAD BESTIE SO SAD okay first of all these two are so fucking obvious like going back to asis from a random persons pov if I was just some kid in that class and the one student Loki always pays attention to who is always hanging on lokis every word and staring at him like he’s the moon and all the stars suddenly stopped saying anything and Loki never even looked at her anymore? I’d be like yeah okay so that girl and the professor slept together. Anyway WANDA <3 bro I know you said awhile ago you have trouble keeping your crush on Wanda out of asis bestie I have trouble keeping my crush on Wanda under control too when they were talking I was like okay forget the fact that y/n is yearning for Loki and Wanda is in love with Nat can y’all kiss or something PLS also i actually rewatched wandavision like uhhhh 3 days ago so I am very much back in love with wanda rn it’s bad ANYWAY THE LOKI PREVIEW SHATTERED ME THAT CHAPTER IS GOING TO RIP MY HEART FROM MY CHEST I KNOW IT AAAAAAA also HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO MAKE THE SNIPPET FROM THE SADDEST CHAPTER READ SO BEAUTIFULLY GOD BRO YOURE SO TALENTED I DKDVKDJDJDBBBXBXB
Wait sorry BC Anon again REAL QUICK QUESTION THEN ILL LEAVE is Wanda American in asis? Bc I feel like a lot of her mannerisms and actions make her seem like she was raised in Europe but idk if you’re just taking from her character in marvel anyway this doesn’t matter really I’m just Curious lol
//
HI BC ANON so good to hear from u! BUT NOT THE RANDOS IN CLASS KNOWING Y/N AND LOKI ARE SLEEPING TOGETHER 😭😭 Listen Loki and y/n are so smart and academic yes yes but they um. You know they might not be as slick as they think lololol
And yes,,,, Wanda,,, I will admit every time I write a chapter with Wanda I daydream about her. Just as a treat. Like I've said before I really have tried to make their relationship read more platonic because I know it was coming off Not That Way but I also just think Wanda has so much (familial) love for her friends and is overall very gentle + would be this kind/physical with anyone she cares about. That's part of the reason she and Nat work (in asis that is) - because Wanda is a great way to balance out Nat's overall adversity to affection. Wanda is the first person asis Nat has been in *romantic* love with and I think Wanda would be a great person to explore that with :') I just reallyyyyyy appreciate Wanda's willingness to be unabashedly affectionate. It's what the reader needs at this point in her life and Wanda is the absolute best for just... being the way that she is.
As for if she's American, I honestly haven't thought of it! She is a transfer student, which was briefly mentioned when she was introduced to asis, but I never specified from where. I certainly picture asis Wanda as MCU Wanda (mostly because I physically picture everyone else as their MCU counterparts so it'd be weird to not think of her as the same), but at this point, I'm not sure how similar their characters are (I haven't actually seen WandaVision lol. I think you can tell this fic was written before the show came out because of WandaNat). I feel like this is a middle ground Wanda, one who is mature, grounded, and comfortable with herself, but is also still somewhat reserved/shy. I think because she conforms the least of anyone in asis to a specific comic arc or MCU interpretation, it's up to the reader to decide where she might be from. Sorry if that's a cop out answer :/
AND OH YEAH BABY THE LOKI CHAPTER. OH YEAHHHHHHH just you wait BC anon. I have two more scenes to write but like. It's devastating in terms of Loki of course but I slipped the most gut wrenching heart breaking detail about Narvi's life pre Loki that I just KNOW if going to wreck y'all. It's just. WHEW is what it is it's a whew! I don't want to hype the chapter up too much but I really do think it's probably going to be everybody's favorite (if they enjoy angst, at least). I'm just...
Whew!
