Hey guys! I'm back to talk about something that I've been thinking about for a solid week and I'm ready to info dump.

So, I've been thinking about just how much Percy and Luke are the same character. They are so much the same and it's really amazing just how much detail and thought Rick put into making it where Luke and Percy go through so many of the same things and life experiences.

Like, It's something that I had noticed from the beginning, but it wasn't until just recently when I reread some parts from The lightning thief, and the from The diary of Luke short story, that I realized just how similar Luke and Percy are.

Let's start with just the way both of their characters are written. They both have the same underlying anger towards their fathers for leaving their mother's alone to deal with terrible things. In Sally's case, that is Gabe. In May's case it's the curse of Delphi that has driven her insane.

Both Luke and Percy have the same feelings of self doubt. The way they treat and talk to their friends or people they consider important, are very much the same. They act the same towards people who they don't know and don't trust. They have that same underlying snarky humor. It was scary how when I was reading TDoL, that I thought I was just reading something from Percy's pov.

And that's far from all of it! Another thing that I realized that they have in common is that there is a character that represents the promises that they couldn't keep or fullfil. Let me explain.

With Luke, that character is Annabeth. In TDoL, Luke promises Annabeth that Thalia and he would be her family. Did he know how to even be a family given that he had never had one? No. But he was going to try for Annabeth. However, he wasn't able to keep that promise, especially with Kronos brain washing and manipulating him. Breaking that promise is something that he feels guilty for all the way to his death. It was a constant reminder that he had failed those he held dear.

With Percy, that character is Nico. In The Titans Curse, Nico makes Percy promise that he would protect Bianca and make sure that nothing happens to her. Percy says that he's not sure if he could do that. He had no idea he would even be able to protect himself, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't try to keep his promise to Nico. Unfortunately, he's not able to and Bianca dies. He wasn't able to keep his promise and that guilt follows him. And Nico himself was a reminder for sometime of the promise that Percy wasn't able to keep.

So in short, Nico is to Percy what Annabeth was to Luke. A physical manifestation of their inadequacy and failure.

Both Percy's and Luke's stories have so many parallels to them and it's quite clear to see. Which is why I find it a bit funny when others say that, "Percy would've never done what Luke did!" To which I have to say, "are you sure?"

Because really, there would've only needed to be one major change and Percy could've easily ended up in Luke's position. If Sally wouldn't have been a strong pillar for Percy. If she would've ended up like May, it would've been quite easy to get Percy to change sides. Because it's quite evident that Percy loves Sally and would do anything if it meant making her happy and keeping her protected. If Kronos would've went to Percy instead and promised to help Sally and keep her protected, Percy would've joined him. Because let's not forget that Percy's fatal flaw being loyalty gets him into some rough situations if he thinks that he'll be able to help or save a loved one. It would've been easy for Kronos to manipulate him like that.

The only main difference with Percy and Luke, is that if Percy would've been the one that Kronos was able to manipulate into being his vessel? He would've won. With Percy's amazing power and strength combined with the power of Kronos, the gods would've never stood a chance. Not to say that Luke didn't have his strengths. He was cunning and charming. He had a fierce determination to see change. He was able to rally others to his cause.

However, Percy also shows those same attributes in his own journey. There is a reason why everyone else at Camp Half Blood so willingly rallied behind him and trusted him as leader, and it wasn't just because of the amount of times he had saved the world at that point. There was a reason why so many people were drawn to Percy, and not all of it was just Aphrodite playing with his love life.

Long story short, Luke and Percy are basically the same character with just how much they have in common, and I think it's time that we talk about it more 😌💜

(Ps. Sorry I wasn't on here for a good bit. I'm ok, life has just been... Rough. But I'm back to my usual delusional ramblings again 😌👌)

Hello Hinda! I had a question I was curious if you had any insight into. I know that in Judaism, preservation of life is a top priority so much so that other laws can get thrown out if breaking them means saving a life. What does this mean for self-sacrifice/putting oneself directly in harms way to help others and/or sacrificing one life for the many type of decisions? I know that there are Jewish firefighters/paramedics/soldiers that do put themselves in harms way for the many so they are allowed to hold such jobs, I am just curious as to the more philosophical/legal opinions on such things. Hello, thank you for your question! I did a lot of searching to find this answer, because I've heard that self-sacrifice is both acceptable and unacceptable. Like most things in Judaism, there is no clear consensus.

In Leviticus 19:16 it states "One shall not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor." Jewish life places the preservation and saving of another life above everything else. As Nachmanides says: "Saving life is a great mitzvah. One who approaches it with alacrity is praised, one who hesitates is despicable, one who questions it is guilty of murder, and certainly so, one who despairs and does not do it." Therefore, we believe that saving another's life is of utmost importance. From this, many people have understandably concluded that if you were to intervene to save another's life, it would be permitted should you lose your own in the process. But this is not the case.

If we look to Yesodei haTorah (5.4), Maimonides argues that if you are threatened with death if you do not violate certain mitzvot, you should violate them instead of dying, except in regards to three specific transgressions. If you choose to sacrifice yourself needlessly instead of violating the mitzvot, you will be held accountable for the loss of life as if you had murdered someone in olam haba. He uses Leviticus 18:5 as justification, that concerning the mitzvot "which a man should perform and live by them." Maimonides states: "[They were given so that] one may live by them and not die because of them. If a person dies rather than transgress, he is held accountable for his life."

The three mitzvot that you should die rather than violate (if threatened) are the worship of other gods, forbidden sexual relations, and murder. A Jew should choose to sacrifice their life instead of violate these mitzvot ONLY if they are violating it in front of ten or more Jews. If there are less than ten other Jews present, one should "transgress and not sacrifice his life." If there are ten or more Jews present, it is considered a Chillul HaShem (desecration of His name) if you violate them in public.

Above all of this, if there is a government decree that signals that one might face a situation such as this, Jews are obligated to flee. Maimonides states: "One who could, however, escape and flee from under the power of a wicked king and fails to do so is like a dog who returns [to lick] his vomit. He is considered as one who worships false gods willingly. He will be prevented from reaching the world to come and will descend to the lowest levels of Gehinnom"

Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook disagrees, and argues that if one sacrifices themselves in place of another, they are not violating the commandment to "live by" the mitzvot, because the commandment to live also applies to the victim. If one sacrifices their life for them, they are not violating the commandment to choose life, because they are choosing life, just not one that is their own. Simple, right? Except no, it's even more complicated due to two factors: who owns the body, and the value of each human life. According to Jewish law, God owns the body and He can take a life when He chooses, so it's not permitted for one to take their own life, even if it is to save another's. Finally, there is no way for a human to know whose life is considered more valuable than another's, so we're not allowed to make decisions based on this.

I dont know if anyone caught this and I really hope people see this but I have come to a realization:

"Solas" in Dalish quite literally translates to pride, further more there are common phrases within the Dalish language that speak of pride ruining everything and blah blah blah here's my source.

What I find funny is that Fen'Harel/Solas shows up and is like "YEaH iTs ME, YOuRE LocaL ELVen ApOSTAte PrIDe" and if your playing a Dalish inky they don't question it or mention it, it's even funnier if your a Dalish Mage because then you're the First of your clan and you're supposed to know this shit. Like they're literally like "Suspicious amount of Fade knowledge, weird ass name, able to drag me into the Fade... Yeah isn't shady at all lemme continue to trust this guy."

Furthermore, Solas' fear is dying alone and the Dalish sayings are quite literally "Dirth ma, harellan. Ma banal enasalin. Mar solas ena mar din." Which roughly means: "Your pride is responsible for everything that has gone wrong; you will die alone." And there's another one thats: "Dirth ma banal. Mar solas ena mar din" which means "You have learned nothing. Your pride be your downfall." The wiki also says that these are common Dalish phrases so...

This likely means that Solas is probably super self aware and we, the fandom, can take this a bajillion ways. One way is that past Fen'Harel was often told that he was prideful and that it would lead to his misfortune and so in DAI he brands himself by his shortcoming to stick it in the faces of his fellow mages but fast forward to DAD, pride will be Solas' downfall and the DAD protagonist will leave him to die alone and pondering what would of happened if he wasn't so arrogant because he wouldn't have lost his friends, his lover (if romanced), or his future.

They should do a sort of remake of Ninjago where everything is the exact same, except they make the animation ATLA style and it's actually PG-13 so it shows how violent and bloody a lot of the fight scenes are. Super detailed fight scenes. The plot is all the same with the first seasons having all the funky shenanigans like the Blade Cup dance battle and Zane's funny switch. We get height differences between the ninja and we get to see a big age difference between kid Lloyd and tomorrows tea Lloyd, he also gets subtle oni feature like glowy red eyes and fangs and pointed ears. Katniss is Lucy Gray this. Katniss is Seganus that. Katniss paralleling Tigris. Both Katniss and Tigris willing to do absolutely anything to keep their families alive. What's your FAVORITE Starkid or Tin Can Bros musical/media, and why? Or, if you can't pick, which scene is the most compelling to you?

Ohhh for a favourite I'm gonna have to pick two shows which are Spies are forever and The guy who didn't like musicals, both are so different in tone and I love the stories in both.

For which scene in most compelling I have to say scene on the stairs at the end of Spies are forever, something about the lighting and how it was staged just make me love it so much the part where Curt says "some secrets aren't yours to share" and then goes on to say "what about our secretz the time we shared, the feelings we had... for eachother" just kills me, Curt's acting in that scene never fails make me emotional and Joey is amazing in that scene as well as an antagonist both are a mission they care about and will do anything for it.

I have to mention that I do really admire Joey and Curt's acting in general but that staircase scene at the end really manages to get to me everytime the way they played their has really stuck with me and it's just on of those shows that I'll forever love and enjoy. I also love the rest of the cast they all played their characters so amazingly and really made them feel real.

I'm would talk more about how much I love the show but I'm very sleepy but I'll definitely be posting more about it later since I really want to go off about how amazing the show is and how much deph all of the characters have mainly the leading man himself, Agent Curt Mega because he's character is the one character that I have managed to think about in depth and I could talk forever about that character and everything we saw in the show hopefully I'll make that post soon because I have so many thoughts on each of the main and supporting characters 😆😆😆
