Sometimes I honestly think people are too distracted by the fact that Solas has a fancy sounding accent—it’s Welsh, not British—and speaks eloquently to listen to what he’s actually goddamn saying half the time.

I think people see a well spoken and vaguely Lex Luthor looking white guy and just assume ‘we’ll clearly he’s bad’ instead of paying attention to the things he says and what his actual opinions are.

He also gets held to this insanely high moral double standard, and again I think it’s because people just have a preconceived notion that he must always be in the wrong because ‘we’ll he’s an antagonist in the next game ergo I should interpret him with bad faith takes only.’

We don’t see people holding Vivienne to account for her adamant support of putting mages in concentration camps. Or Dorian’s BLATANT racism and support of slavery. Or Bull’s support of fascism and startling lack of empathy at times. Varric’s insistent centrism when he has seen the horrors of systemic oppression up close for years, but it never affected him directly so why have an opinion? Or Sera’s incredibly self centered motives for joining the Inquisition and refusal to engage with opinions that might complicate her world view. Not to mention the way she and Vivienne openly dehumanize Cole and refer to him as a ‘thing.’

All I’m saying at the end of the day is can we stop pretending that everyone in DAI who isn’t Solas is somehow morally perfect and superior in every way. It’s a bad take, people.
