Can you write a mermaid au where the reader attends a circus with poorly dressed employees who are supposed to look like fairy tale characters but the main event of the circus is a merman ( kyojuro) and he does this amazing performance and the reader goes and talks to him to ask how he does those stunts in the water without breathing (because she don't think their a real mermaid) until she see the gills actually moving?
Please and thank you I just think Kyojuro would be so pretty as a merman
Ooohh! Cute, a Merman Kyojuro~! Let’s go, I can’t wait to finish this up! Thanks again, loves!
Rengoku Kyojuro- Fantasy is True
Tumblr media
You could tell why this cheap half-assed circus managed to attract the attention of a number of families. It spilled out so many promises on online advertisements and it rolled around your little homely village regularly, it was clearly a quick cash-grab type of business
On a meaningless but yet only relax day of Sunday, you truly had nothing else to do once you finished your power nap and your curiosity got the better of you, ended up with a single ticket to this circus that proudly proclaimed to have had a real fairytale creature performing for them
You want to see if they really do have a real life fantasy creature at their disposal, willy-nilly or if they are just bullshitting to further get money off circus-addicted children or bored adults like you
Taking a lazy seat at the first empty bench row you spot when you enter through the curtains, you slid the paper ticket into the case of your phone and pocketed it. As a extra measure incase you need that ticket, you propped your hands on your cheeks over your knees and stared at the empty stage, already bored out of your mind with loudly speaking children and occasionally scolding parents filling up the seats all around you
You hoped this circus would make your day even the slightest bit better
Boy… it for sure did
The employees’ last-minute baked uniforms were clearly modelled after fairytale characters; Riding Hood, Fairies, Elves, all kinds of would-have-been pretty looking displays if they gave a shit to actually look good. You could tell how badly careless the outfits were thrown together, stitching all over the fabric and even a zipper busting out from the back on the Riding Hood actor as many came out of the darkness circling the stage
You truly had no right to complain as the children in the stalls were cooing and cheering at the performances. Clearly, they had some reputation of being incompetent and children aren’t that brainless, even some lonely middle-aged adults or bored teenagers were remarking openly that the performances were decent
The juggling, the fire ring jumping, the clown scene, all do the stereotypical and common circus parts came in so quickly, filling the lousy stage with people doing their best to entertain. Crossing your arms and hoping something else would come, your request suddenly came to reality as the much more fancy and lavish-appearing Ringmaster appeared in the centre of the stage
The non-dressed employees that clearly hid in the back, possibly operating the music and lights, wheeled in a huge mysteries rectangle covered by a pale yellow sheet and held off the ground by a massive dark blue metallic mini-trailer without the walls. Was this the fascinating real fairytale being this circus proclaimed to have?
“For the grand finalee~! Ladies and gentleman, I present to you! A real lifeeee—” The Ringmaster dramatically called out into the microphone clutched tightly in his hands as his makeshift clown tore the sheet off the rectangle and revealed the content underneath. A gigantic glass container without the lid and filled to the tippy top with clear yet noticeable light blue water
What was inside was actually more believable and realistic as compared to all the other circus performers here
A human being, a fully grown man was swimming around the thick, you assumed, seawater with a bright smile on his attractive fan. His skin was a healthy tan, his visible torso and arms were built to the brim with muscles and athleticism and the most interesting part. A merman tail that directly mirrored the long-finned tail of a Firefish Goby. From what you saw of his fingers, they were webbed and his ears looked more like fins then ears
White at the hips and fade to dark red at the ends with light orange to dark orange completing the beautiful fade. This most-certainly fake merman tail prop looked very convincing and very professional! This is beyond amazing as compared to every other actor, they must have poured all their love into a merman actor
“Welcome! Our lovely merman, Kyojuro!” The Ringleader cheered pridefully, quickly rushing into the black shadows as the many high-beam lights illuminating the wide stage shut off mysteriously and all the ones remaining tilted over to the supposed merman’s container as to place the centre of attention onto him. Like it was nature, Kyojuro flung himself out of the water beautifully and begun to harmonise, seemingly as ready as he would ever be
His singing voice is incredible, so angelic and majestic as he hung over the thin glass wall before he flopped back into the water without stopping his singing, your eyes widened in shock. How was a human singing underwater? No, it must have been a technological trick of the radio playing a convincing audio of a man singing as the actor pretended to sing, he probably isn’t singing at all!
You carefully followed every movement and stunt the supposedly Merman, Kyojuro performed as he leapt out of the water, flinging thin strings of water around, in which glittered with the artificial light by a flip of the tail’s small round fins. Even the adults were gawking in wonder at Kyojuro’s fascinating show and by the end, the Ringmaster excitedly thanked every paying customer for taking time to come to their circus but you ignored his little speech
Your eyes followed watching the employees wheel away Kyojuro from the centre of the wooden-pane stage in a extreme sense of wonder and want of discover. How he could stay underwater for so long and even keep his mouth open underwater so effectively, wouldn’t it cause water to enter his lungs? Thankfully, the Ringleader was too ego-driven to not let the children approach the employees and praise his work
You manoeuvred through the wave of parents with their young children once you stepped down from your seat. Most other patrons had left with only a handful exploring the stage and speaking with the actors. You were the only solo adult doing so but you didn’t want to pretend you were believing that you were talking to Snow White, no.
You just wanted to meet and greet the amazing “Merman”
Pure amazement overflowed your eyes as your pace grew slower, you pressed palms on the thin but tall glass pane wall facing you once you reached it, flinching when Kyojuro does the same from the inside. Your palms looked as if they touched his on a angle. You couldn’t believe this human was doing all these stunts for almsot three hours non-stop without needing air as he was singing and speaking everytime he went up, was he using a invisible oxygen task or something?
The floating locks of firey yellow and red crossed his neck and face slowly by the water pulling it around, highlighting his gorgeous flame-coloured eyes, in which calmly bored through you with enlightenment for finally having company again, especially company from a pretty woman. Your world begin spinning in amazement and disbelief at what you noticed after examining him up close
Three thin lines on both sides of his neck, almost like strange lacerations, slowly flaring in and out like how a chest would rise and fall. Exactly as how fish filter water for their own breathing needs, he did the same
Kyojuro was worried for you by the way you reacted as he pressed his brick-like muscular chest against the glass like he was trying to break out, his expression dissolving into concern as you stumbled back, clutching your head with one hand. You almost didn’t want to believe it but all the evidence, you couldn’t ignore all the evidence
…He wasn’t a normal human nor a very trained human actor. The oddly-marketed main attraction of this dilapidated wannabe circus is no joke nor a fake, he is a…
A merman! A real merman!

Had the chance to sit down and play the new installment (that makes it sound like an appliance... OW: Smart Fridge Edition) and it's so viscerally raw and human. The whole game is, but wow. My favorite genre of fiction is fantasy, for being able to see a creator and their world as 'look at a life these people are living and the world they're living in'. A world surreal, fantastic, and all too easy to think about what it would be like if it was real-- acting like it is real with dreams of dragons and elves. Our Wonderland goes beyond that, in a way few other fantasy stories I've read have. It's not the fantasy of magical beings living in a sprawling, epic world; it's not the fantasy of a gigantic battle of good versus evil-- the fantasy comes in when the cast thinks their lives should be just like the tales of knights and glory. The fantasy is just humans trying their darndest, despite it all. Hoping for a better world. Which wouldn't be so worth commenting on if not for the execution. Every emotion, every action-- beat-by-beat it's gripping and a perfect sell into the world. Playing the finale elicited some feelings and memories I had forgotten about. The sense of turning on the GameCube late at night, going to play Mario Sunshine. Long road trips immersed in the scenery of forest and buffalo, after having spent hours staring at cities. Getting up to dumb hijinks with people I'd only know for a few days. Staring out into the open ocean upon a swing. I'm not sure why it brought those out, but I think it's because of how human the game is, it gets you to think. It got me to think, anyways. Anywho, thank you for an amazing experience Carrot. I hope you have a good rest, and that my thoughts are written here somewhat coherently. If not, I'll summarize: DAMN GOOD GAME. DAMN GOOD STORY. DAMN GOOD ART. DAMN GOOD.
SOB
i don't know how to respond to this... this is incredibly sweet and thoughtful and i'm not sure i have the eloquence currently to type up and actually decent response 🥺💦
but i can definitely feel in my heart what you mean. even if it's not necessarily the exact same emotions or in the exact same way, especially as the creator rather than the experiencer in this case. but like. OW has always filled me with those types of nostalgic feelings as well. maybe it's because at its core, its about these types of fundamental happinesses. and these fundamental relationships we form as kids. and perhaps also simply because so much of the OW cast's pasts and experiences draw so heavily from my own, so it becomes almost as though i'm looking back into my own past through some kind of slightly warped threshold or something
stuff like the final scene in the field for instance was inspired by a scene in majora's mask, which is something i used to play with my sister. we would talk the characters aloud and make up our own stories rather than what they were actually saying (usually really ridiculous and stupid stuff lakdsfjad) or make silly radio plays where we recorded ourselves acting our chars from the game. also a lot of the references both in and outside of the game (like in my non-in-game art and such) was inspired by my own memories. so thinking about the game often makes these additional nostalgic coils drift up through my own memories
at any rate, i can't be sure that's the exact type of same feelings you're talking about, but... i feel like i understand the vibe of what you're saying at least
AND OFC I'M JUST REALLY HAPPY YOU ENJOYED THE ENDING DLKJALDSKJFASD
i still can't believe it's really over. and i mean sure it's not OVER over because i still have plans for other stuff with the chars and even the revamp which would include still working on stuff for the main game. but nothing will ever be the same for me as working on this game itself. and i'm really so grateful for everyone who's joined me in this journey because i'm not sure i would have made it to the end without all of you 💦
but i digress. thank you for this lovely message and for attempting to write up your thoughts lsakjdfasd it really means a lot!! 💕

Hello Nana! I'm not sure if someone has asked this before but do Mirion, Turhir, and Arvellas have birth-mates too? (If I remember correctly, Tauriel is Legolas' birth-mate while Darthol is Gelir's birth-mate)
Can I just say, first of all, how delightedly impressed I am with you Anon, for naming ALL those OCs with correct spelling, and for remembering the little tidbit about Darthol being Gelir's birthmate! Like... what?? I am beyond flattered and thrilled that you seem to actually be learning/studying SotWK lore!
100%, A++ correct, the Silvan elf lord Darthol is Gelir's birthmate, just as Tauriel is Legolas's. For those less familiar, in Greenwood/Silvan culture (SotWK headcanon), "birthmate" refers to the relationship between two Elves born within the same year who therefore share a special bond of lifelong friendship. In most Elven communities such as Rivendell or Lothlorien, where births were very rare in the Third Age, most Elves have no birthmates at all.
But in the Woodland Realm, especially during its Golden Age early in King Thranduil and Queen Maereth's rule, its people thrived and their population grew so successfully that for many years, an Elven child usually had not just one, or even two, but upwards of three birthmates! In "Greenleaf's Day Out, Chapter 5", it was even mentioned that the number of births in one year reached a historic, freakish, unbroken record high of 24! To me, the Woodland Realm's gigantic population in comparison to the other Elven realms was their ultimate "flex": a sign that their people were far from "fading", or their time in Middle-earth "ending".
So yes, absolutely, Princes Mirion, Turhir, and Arvellas all have birthmates of their own--I just have not created those characters yet! I may do so eventually, but I believe Darthol and Tauriel will be the ones playing bigger roles and have more frequent mentions in the SotWK stories.
Thank you for this wonderful Ask! <3

Oh, hell yeahhh! I'm the anon who sent the ask about the modern girl trope, and I loved reading your thoughts :) But I had different ideas involving the reader! One idea I had was keeping her human but immortal....through some alternate universal logic I can come up with LOL. But trust, I'd want her humanity intact because there'd be a lot more dynamics between the old elven world and a modern human being. Another was a specific idea where I'd start my story. I was thinking of maybe at the very beginning of the story when Melian and Thingol first met in the forest (can't remember the details because it's been a hot min since I read the book)??? I was thinking that the reader wakes up in that forest after being isekaid into SILM. but they first think it's all a dream until, well yeah, the realization sets in like a big "WTF" moment. Is she tweaking hard right now or are there two gigantic (I'm assuming there'd be an insane height difference as the reader is a human) beings who look otherworldly gawking at her like she's completely alien???
The hardest part right now is tackling the multiple characters and the entirety of Tolkien's legendarium...it's a difficult goal to implement when you want to consider staying somewhat canonical and within ME logic. How would specific characters react to the reader? How would their relationship progress as the story goes on? How do I even give justice to a character; am I portraying them right? How will the readers existence affect the plot and the events--because that's a big part of SILM. You know...the wars and stuff.
Speaking of which, with the readers modern perspective and outlook on life, I think it'd make up for a pretty funny journey for not just the reader, but for everyone else involved. I can just imagine the reader trying to get used to the culture shock, as daunting as it is, and learn to accept the change of scenery. But sometimes she'd be faced with trials and tribulations, it's hard to keep calm sometimes. I can just imagine if there is ever a certain point where if the reader meets an unhinged character like Faenor, she'll definitely butt heads with them. Perhaps her personal moral and ethical compass is seen as........foreign. It would get heated, I'm sure, with all the "outdated" politics and standards within SILM. that the reader will be in for a ride!
BTW, do you think adding romance would do? I think about adding some romantic relationships between the reader and some characters, but I'm not sure how I'd pull it off...hmm...who'd even be a good candidate LOL??
Also, I wanted to come up with a reader who's probably an overworked desk worker, so her attitude at first would be: "I don't care, I'm not getting paid to fix anyone's problems," while simultaneously trying to make it alive for the next day.
Sorry I took so long, I've been busy running around the place 😖. But I'm liking these ideas 😯😯. They're intriguing!!
Given that you want to stay on par with the canon of the story, you can have moments where reader makes suggestions, however as mentioned, due to their morals and ethics being outdated and modernised compared to traditional ways, the character can have a moment of awareness but eventually return to their original plan. This only makes reader's relationship strained with the character.
You can also contribute to some of the discarded drafts Tolkien wrote for characters or fill in the plot holes for unspoken events by the loremasters. Like certain events that took place was believed to occur a particular way, however, you being there and having witnessed it can attest and say otherwise. Then observing that eavesdropping and miscommunication led to feuds between the groups of elves and so forth. Maybe have a moment where you break the truth to one of the main characters (preferably for an event that doesn't pertain to them, but showing how themes of hate and spite can lead to unnecessary consequences).
As for adding romance, that's solely your decision, but I can provide options to choose from if you're stuck in a dilemma.
You can have reader and character's relationship purely romantic.
A flirtatious relationship where both are aware of their feelings, unfortunately due to their future ahead, they wish for nothing intensely romantic. Sorta like a fling.
Mutual pinning which makes this more tragic.
Unrequited love
Purely friendship because there isn't anything wrong with being friends. Friendship tend to have some of the most heartbreaking emotions and moments.
Picking a character is something you could spin the wheel and select. because at the end of the day, they'll all be dead 🙈. The office worker vibes you want to include would bring so much humour, I'm here for it. Insert the, "don't speak to me until my shift begins" or the, "I'm here to work, not solve your problems unless you pay me overtime". 🤲
There's lots of themes being included, history, traditions, personalities and perspectives, differences, and the original silm lore to remember. The real question is, how in depth are you going with the lore and plot since the 1st Age had multiple events and you wish to begin from Melian meeting Thingol?
Like are you planning on skipping through big chunks of the years and focusing around the important events and the years before, during and after? I think this would save you the stress of focusing on every detail and you still get to mention history in the chapters.

tes full essay please
Alright, so the question asked by this post is - are TES games fun? Do they hold up? Are they good? And well, a game being good is mostly subjective, same for fun, as it depends on your tastes, but "does this game hold up to this day" is a different thing. For the four last main games (I'll be ignoring Arena, I know a single maniac who finds it fun) let's explore what they brought, what they lost, and what they have that's unique compared to the series.
Daggerfall
Brought: In depth character creator
Brought: Lore that'll remain for the rest of the series
Unique: gigantic map and dungeons
Daggerfall is a very interesting game that I can't call good because it's, let's be honest, a chore to play. While unmatched to this day in RPGs, it's map is endlessly generated nothing, and the dungeons are repetitive and labyrinthic.
Gameplay wise, it really shines in some aspects. The character creator gives you so many options no other game has, and some small details add wonders to the immersion, like the fast travel system giving you real time travel days. While unpopular I am also a huge fan of the swing mouse to swing sword mechanic. The controls are rough but the way they're set up favors a slow gameplay and coupled with adjustable reflexes, makes it easier to play for me than action games. Unfortunately, it's bug ridden, and the graphics have not aged well.
Is Daggerfall good? Eh. It has some gems if you can dig through the sludge, but it's aged poorly and that makes it inaccessible to modern gamers.
Morrowind
Lost: map size
Brought: map detail
Lost: customization options
Brought: full 3d, and quality of life improvements all around
Brought: new lore for the region
Unique: world design and uhm...writing quirks
Morrowind is so radically different from the change in leadership that occured after Daggerfall. While it's map is tiny in comparison, it's filled with things to do. It's a completely different philosophy. Player characters lost many customization options but it's clearer where to get things in the world.
Graphics - while polygonal to hell and back, Morrowind benefits from killer art direction that makes the game look surprisingly decent for it's age. Might make zoomers cringe but I doubt anyone who grew up playing games where you can see the texels will cringe at the visuals. The world design is so iconic it carries itself.
Gameplay wise Morrowind is aged. It's a game that can barely be played without a manual, and new players often complain about the difficulty. But if you ask me, it's not a hard game, it just works differently. If you play it like Skyrim it'll be hard. Morrowind forces you to read and to accept the rules of the world it's set in. Luckily, reading makes you understand the world. Now in terms of game feel, it's clunky as hell and below barebones.
Writing wise, Morrowind is easier to follow than Daggerfall was with a better journal and a more guided main quest. The genius of said MQ is it makes you explore the world and contact it's factions organically, as well as read into the lore. It's also a weird game, made by a bunch of guys in a basement, with quests that feel like an injoke and others that come off as offensive. It's a relic of a production that wasn't made to appeal to a large demographic, for better and for worst.
I believe Morrowind is a good game that's aged...more or less well, depending on the background of who's playing.
Oblivion
Brought: fully voiced dialog
Brought: active NPC AI
Brought: graphics improvements especially a physics engine
Lost: character skills
Lost: world design
Lost: weird shut-in appeal
Unique: main quest and game design experiments
Unique: Have You Heard Of The High Elves? Bwah! Urmf! Guhhh!
This one will be quick because...to be honest with y'all i have not played Oblivion. I have tried several times and i hate this game. Sorry TES 4 fans.
Oblivion is a weird one. At the time, it was a revolution. An open world game who was beautiful and let you dick around as you wanted. Oblivion was less weird and more forgiving than Morrowind, so had mass appeal. It had physics and voiced dialog. Everyone wanted to be Oblivion.
The problem with being a revolution for your time is computers progress at a neck breaking speed and relying only on what's impressive technology ages terribly. To prove this...have a good laugh at Oblivion's graphics. Unfortunately, the game opted to surf on LOTR visuals so has no originality, and just looks bad to this day.
Gameplay is...different. By being less strict than Morrowind and with a game feel that isn't "rolling around naked on an unpolished wooden floor", it's way more fun to run around in. Character customization lost some options, nothing too drastic unless you played Morrowind for the dressup or hardcore RP.
When you get into the writing, Oblivion has some very clever and memorable quests, unforgettable (for better and for worst) dialog and delivery, and a MQ where you play not the hero, but assistant to a hero of the lore, which I have not seen any other game attempt.
But nowadays, you don't see Oblivion known for its writing, most people know it as a big joke. Because the awkward graphics, the mess that is the dialog system and NPC AIs, make for an unmatched comedic improv experience. If you ask me, a game that's known for being goofy because of how shoddy some of its systems are...is not a good game. Unfortunately for Oblivion, gamefeel also improves as games progress and it's open world hill hopping appeal will get obliterated by the next installment.
Skyrim
Brought: more graphical improvements!
Brought: return to a nicher art direction
Brought: action game influence
Lost: RPG mechanics
Unique: Dovahkiin, dovahkiin, you know the song by now
Skyrim is funny to me as a game I remember everyone being amazed at when released. Nowadays the graphics look dated, but compared to Oblivion, it's nicher more cartoony art direction is iconic. Skyrim isn't a game that tries to be photorealistic like Oblivion did and that saves a lot of how it looks.
For the gameplay Skyrim ditched the RPG. Character customization, as in mechanics wise, is barely existing. Sure you can play different weapons but they all play similar. Builds have little influence. Choices are minimal to nonexistent. The main quest, unlike oblivion, has a cheesy chosen one story you can't escape. Asides of the daedric quests and if you do the DB, writing wise, it's pretty damn boring. The game doesn't even give you correct options to opt out of these. Skyrim assumes you play it the way it wants you to play it. If you fit that demographic, it's great! If you don't...its not fun.
The gamefeel in Skyrim is the best the series had. Taking from action games, combat was much improved and so was walking around the map, even if transportation skills were all axed. And the map is gorgeous. It's varied, it's big enough to explore without getting too lost, and it's just plain pretty.
And Skyrim has mass appeal. To the average person that doesn't care about justifying their elves action based on their complex lore rich backstory. Wandering around and slashing at things has never felt better! It's hard to meet a single person who hasn't played this game and most who did put HOURS into it.
However, the open world genre exploded several times since and took with it a lot of what made Skyrim special. Games now effortlessly make prettier maps and polished games that go all in on what exploration means. Skyrim does have its unique atmosphere, but the gameplay isn't unique enough to demark it from the rest. Someone who just wants to run around the map shooting at stuff will be better off with Far Cry who's entire gameplay is built around that. Skyrim isn't built around that. It's a large game that wants to be an RPG but doesn't give you choices. It's too rough around the edges to be a good action game. The content gets stale fast. Most people who still play it do so for the mods.
Every time I open Skyrim it's out of a deep longing for it's world and every time I close the game after 30 minutes of trying to find what to do. The atmosphere is there but the moment you take action, nothing. If you don't like killing draugr in dungeons or bandits in forts, there's just not much to do, as even city quests redirect you to those. It's a hiking simulator that doesnt do much to simulate hiking.
Currently Skyrim is the last game of the series and has been for over a decade and I believe that's why it still has any relevancy. It's success was a product of it's time like it's predecessor, it just hasn't had a successor yet. Skyrim is...not a very good game. Iconic yes, but not very good.
My conclusion
What makes these games interesting is often the features that get removed later, as basic features who remain get degraded by time as technology proves one can do them better. No TES game has aged well and the series is stagnating. That being said the earlier games sporting features not made for mass appeal but for the benefit of the game make them interesting in parts. These games nonetheless benefit from art (visuals, but also music!) that contributes to atmospheres one doesn't forget. TES has never been outstanding mechanically, but it can write a world.
If you want to experience the Morrowind high of an alien world created by basement dwellers who obliterates your first three lvl1 characters, play Kenshi. TES will never appeal to RPG nerds again.

The Owl House Except Everyone Plays Magic the Gathering AU
[Part One: More to come but this post was getting long with just what I have SO FAR]
Luz early-Season One:
Playstyle: “Five Color Good Stuff” / Lots of Janky Bullshit
Takes lands out of her deck to make room for better cards which she cannot play because her mana base ends up being just two tap lands and a Snow Mountain.
“Okay so how does the Stack work again? Okay got it” Doesn’t get it at all.
Says “HAHAHA you’ve activated my Trap Card” whenever she plays anything 100% of the time.
Eda
Playstyle: Spellslinger / Storm / "Chaos, if you're feeling nasty"
Runs the game shop
Unclear if she actually owns the building or has just squatted there for God Knows How Long
Tries to pretend she doesn’t know or care much about playing MtG, is actually a gigantic nerd about it
“Still can’t believe they banned ante just because that’s technically and factually illegal. Pffft. Cowards”
Keeps trying to teach the actual children how to cheat at actual gambling but she’s mostly kidding (…probably)
“Awww it does my heart good to see you kids have a good time hehe…now buy a collectors booster or get out, I’ve got bills to pay, kid”
Willow
Playstyle: Tap Forest Followed by Curbstomp
Every deck has Green in it. All of them. If she ever had to play a deck with a land base of only Wastes, she’d somehow find a way to make it generate Green mana.
Her spirit animals are Rampant Growth, Giant Growth, and Llanowar Elves.
Doesn’t look like much at first until does some infinite mana bullshit, does a ridiculous amount of damage, and obliterates an opponent and all the hopes and dreams they ever had without mercy.
“It just makes sproutling tokens, what are you even worried about?” is the sound you hear before you die
Make a shitty comment about her friends during her game and she’ll Trample and Double Strike you in Real Life
Amity early-Season One
Playstyle: Blue Mana / Artifact Shenanigans / All Manner of Control Fuckery
A total Spike
Is rich and thus plays Modern
Good at the game but in an assholy kinda way.
Decks are loaded with $50+ cards.
Memorizes every spoiler card before Prerelease. Not an exaggeration, literally takes the time to actually memorize them.
“Wow, that’s a good spell ... how sad for you” (Casts Counterspell)
Gets cocky and toys with Luz during their first game until Luz gets the win and Amity has a mental breakdown in a very noticeable embarrassing way in the middle of the game store.
Gus
Playstyle: Flicker, Bounce, and Enter the Battlefield Triggers for Days
Doesn’t always win, but he has fun just watching something cool go off
Doesn’t have a lot of self confidence so their turns often take like over five minutes
Very excited about showing you the new sleeves and deck box he bought
“LUZ! YOU DID GREAT! I went 0-3 myself but who cares about that, look! I got a deckbox with Yargle on it! I don’t have a frog deck to put in it now, but when I do, watch out” (finger guns)
Belos
Playstyle: Thousand Dollar Decks Loaded with Nothing But Bullshit
(Posting on Reddit) “And that’s why proxies and casual play are ruining Magic the Gathering and new product shouldn’t be sent to stores that allow either. Furthermore, women—“
Motherfucker has the Power Nine in a Legacy deck and uses that shit against CHILDREN
He’ll use Mass Land Destruction, he don’t give a fuck
ALL the free Sac outlets, can’t get enough of that shit
“Surely you’re not afraid of a friendly casual game?” (Turn One: Black Lotus into Doomsday)
Seriously, fuck this guy

Fair enough on both counts. Prefer Kirk personally. I actually am like, sorta not a fan, but am? I can watch some of the shows, and get into to them maybe, I’ll read the fanfics, but my family has tried to make me watch all of it and that’s how you make me hate a series. So I’m in this weird place. Aliens are actually a plus for me but I also think that stuff is cool. (If you like practical affects, check out the show Face Off)
And a different anon: If you love practical affects I highly recommend watching the show Face Off
The majority of the problem is that I don't really love reality TV nor do I care so much about the making of the practical effects, but I do love seeing the finished product and strongly feel that movies and shows should use practical whenever possible and thus when they do have to render something entirely in CG they have a larger amount of money they can put towards it looking good rather than forcing actors to talk to tennis balls in a giant green room. Many of the movies and shows I really love have practical effects and not only does it feel more real to me, but also when the odd CG creature does show up often times it's more believable because they were able to pour most of the CG budget into said creature.
Looking at you, cave troll and balrog in Moria or even the fell beasts of the Nazgul, as compared to the janky-ass elves and orcs and goblins and fucking Dain and Azog themselves in the Hobbit movies. Overreliance on CG spreads your budget super thin especially when you've gotta animate an undertaking like a gigantic dragon that is a major plot point for why this story is being told. It would have been way better for the Hobbit movies to have taken a page out of LOTR's books and have practical effects for everything except what needs it, such as the trolls and the wargs and the eagles etc.
So of course I'm always going to point to LOTR's reliance on well made, hand-crafted practical effects to ground us in the story so that when we do have CG there's more of an ability to make it feel real. I think the bits of CG I liked in the Hobbit were the sequences with Smaug, because that's what they blew most of their CG budget on and it definitely shows, and believe it or not the sequence with "the necromancer" revealing himself to be Sauron, which I also felt was really well done. But why did we have to completely animate characters that could have been physically within the world, such as Dain and Azog and Bolg? We apparently did have a practical Bolg and he even appeared very briefly in Dol Guldur (he pulls Gandalf's cage down) so why was he swapped with a CG version if they went through all that effort to make a practical version? I just don't get it.

So I think my perspective on Xadia is colored quite a bit by the fact that I actually really hate elves in every fantasy setting I’ve ever encountered (with the exception of Hilda, because I love tiny things and neurotic Kafkaesque bureaucracies). Yes, I am That Bitch(tm) whose favorite LotR character was Boromir.
But, like… Lux Aurea reads on the surface as a dystopian theocracy (but maybe just Khessa was awful, who knows), and the Silvergrove apparently trains child assassins, and while I’m definitely biased Xadia’s also legitimately kind of shitty. Not to mention we’ve seen like 2.5 Archdragons, their omnipotent god-rulers, and an entire 2 of those were gigantic dicks. Zubeia’s reaction of sending assassins is honestly pretty restrained in context, as she’s willing to just trading lives one-to-one, versus Sol “Welp, Time to Wipe Out Humanity” Regem. Also lbr when you maintain a tradition of assassins everything’s gonna start looking like a problem assassination will solve.
So idk I honestly don’t have a ton of hope for how the human/Xadian situation is looking, two years on? Zubeia wakes up and has her son back, returned to her by heroic elf/human collaboration… but there’s also still the waste of a huge-ass army sitting outside, so humans are not really giving the best accounting of themselves, here. Some fought and died to protect Zym, but if we’re looking life-for-life… a shit-ton of them also fought and died trying to kill him. At best, it kind of evens out?
Then apparently she immediately sends Zym back off with Ezran like nothing happened, since he’s in Katolis for Ezran’s short story. I really hope they explain that if he continues to be hanging around, because, “well, you killed that one creepy guy with the bug, so never mind the other hundreds of people who followed him, I’m sure it’ll be fine. It’s not like there are any other dark mages in the world. And I certainly don’t remember any important mirrors going missing at the same time that we may want to think about retrieving before they end the goddamn world, or anything” is a really weird take to have to on that situation.
Meanwhile, as far as anyone in the human kingdoms knows, their monarchs were still assassinated at Zubeia’s word, and denial from her would probably not land super well in the “believability” area. On Xadia’s end, it was (again) Dark magic that caused all these problems, and they’re unlikely to compromise on that just because of some nice kids and their cool aunt.
So what’s really going to make or break S4 for me is just how shitty are things, still, and how much has it worn Callum and Ezran down?

Abburth Lore and Relevant Gods
I just realized I am very unclear about lore in my writing, simply because I forget that people are not reading from my private notes, and then I feel repetitive whenever I explain in parathesis or between comas. So, I dug up my lore notes and decided that this may help any of my readers in understanding the overall layout of Abburth, as well as the Gods of some form of importance to the story itself, because, believe it or not, I actually planned the plotline of the story.
First, we have the hierarchy of Abburth, which includes the High Council and their Matron Mothers, and what they are known for.
The Head Council, or first five Houses of Abburth in order from first to last are Houses Coborial, Kilsek, Vandree, Telenna, and Eilservs. House Eilservs was recently appointed into power after they destroyed House Caddath in a raid. House Coborial is led by Matron Aunerae, who is known for her skill in battle and her intelligent twin daughters. House Kilsek is led by Matron Haelra, known for her cunning and skill in subterfuge. House Vandree is led by Matron Ilharess, who is known for her abundance of slaves and cruelty towards Houses below her. House Telenna is led by Matron Nathrea (not to be mistaken with Matron Nathrae II), who is known for her interest in religious lore, and her successful wizard sons. As well as House Eilservs led by Matron Chenzira known for her life dedicated to prayer and commitment to Lolth. The late House Caddath was led by Matron Angaste, who was known for her sternness towards her soldiers, earning a strong fighting force.
Next, we have the schooling system within Abburth itself, which here will be listed the names and purposes of each school, as well as pronunciation, since some of the names are quite strange.
The wizard school is known as Gloufmarth, whose head wizards are from the High Council Houses of Telenna and DeVir, as well as a few other minor houses. The school of the sword and its arts is called Slaekmia (sly-kee-ma), whose heads are K'yornl, Matron Aunerae Coborial's mate, and one of Matron Chenzira Eilservs's sons. And finally, the most important school and training center, Amaxselts (amax-sleets) the Center of Religious Training, whose heads are the Matron Mothers of the Head Council to train all future priestesses of Lolth. Eventually, these priestesses-to-be lead congregated masses that the school holds, specifically the daughters of the Matron Mothers of the High Council.
Finally, in the Abburth lore, we have landmarks or places of interest within the city.
The time teller, otherwise known as the grand clock that tells the time of the surface, to determine when drow elves should retire for rest and evening prayer is known as Mystérieuse (myst-air-ri-oous.) The time is told by a lit and extinguished blue candle. At the beginning of the day it starts as a new flame, and it wanes as the "day" continues, until falling as those on the surface would loose light and retire for the night. Another landmark would also be centerpiece of Abburth itself, a gigantic spider-tiled plaza where exterminations or killings would take place. The last notable landmark would also be the arena, which is located near the outskirts of the city itself, with a large circular dome with black sand in the interior.
With the lore of the Gods, I will list a few, some have been mentioned so far in the book (for those who have read the currently released chapter), while others have no, and that is perfectly fine. All will make sense in due time.
First, we have Corelleon, the main God of the elves, and often called the Lord of Cowardice by the drow as a term of hatred towards Him. He fathers three children, Eilistraee, Vhaeraun, and Vandria, although all of them take residence in the Abyss with their mother, Lolth, or at the time of their birth, was known as Araushnee before Her dealings with a faction of the elves who soon retreated to the Underdark, and soon became known as what we would call drow elves.
Next, we have the aforementioned Lolth, Queen of Spiders, and ruler of the Demonweb pits, the sixty fifth layer of the Abyss. Mother to Eilistraee, Vhaeraun, and Vandria, and former wife to Corelleon, She is the chief deity of the Underdark, and the most terrifying of all of them. Sworn enemy to Eilistraee, Goddess of Dance, she idolizes malicious chaos, and supports senseless death, and even encourages it in Her followers.
Eilistraee, the most important of Lolth and Corelleon's children in the book, is the chaotic good Goddess of dance, song, and the moon, commonly known as the Lady of Dance or Lady Silverhair, on the account of Her long and beautiful silver hair. Her goal is to bring the drow to a better future, by reconnecting Her followers with the surface, to maybe one day tear Her mother away from Her throne, and end the conflict between the surface elves and drow.
Tymora, commonly known as Lady Luck, is a chaotic good Goddess of the surface world, and patron to most gamblers and rogues, and main deity of the Halfling race. She is the embodiment of luck in its entirety, where in front of all of Her temples there is a fountain, where, before entering, all believers must drop a coin in it for good luck, to be taken by the Church to further their journey to worship their God.
And lastly, we have Paladine, or Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon. He is a lawful good God of the surface, and twin brother to Tiamat (otherwise known as Takhisis), while also standing for justice and the distribution of fairness between all parties. His followers hold their friends closest to them, and have a silent vow to keep them safe no matter the obstacle.

Writing nonesense until I get a novel out of it
You are, of course, free to believe in fairies or not. But the image we have of them is often wrong in many ways. We often imagine small, shiny beings with wings, dressed in leaves, with big ears. Wings seem to be an important part of the image of fairies. There is almost no representation of a fairy without wings, it would be like painting a unicorn without a horn: it just doesn't make any sense. Unfortunately, these same wings do not exist, or at least not on fairies. They do have big ears, though, pointed and pale ears. They have arms, legs, eyes like humans. In fact, their appearance is closer to the conception that we have of elves. They have a human size and their morphology varies from one individual to another, like humans. Their skin color also influences their caste and social rank, in an elaborate form of racism. They have eyes so beautiful and large that in representations, their entire face is replaced by a beautiful pale blue or white eye. However, they are only human in appearance, because no human can have the same way of thinking as fairies, and fairies only try not to learn the human way.
I said: you are free to believe or not to believe in fairies, but they are there nevertheless, in tight rows, with their right hand placed, in a graceful movement, on their bust, each one wondering what kind of exam they would have the honor to pass… Or not, of course, but they had this absolutely miraculous tendency to always see the good side of things.
At the very beginning of the third row from the left, among the Blues, absolutely melted in the compact mass, a young fairy, her face closed, like the others, was carefully scanning her competitors. They were all gathered in a hall of absolutely prodigious dimensions, paved with red marble coming directly from the palace of Babylon, and where gigantic torches were hung everywhere, lighting up considerably the faces of the five thousand or so young fairies gathered in the room. All of them were hoping to be selected for the semi-finals of the entrance exam to the Academy of Magi: the institution where they were standing at that exact moment.
The five castes were clearly distinguished by their skin colors: at the front, the Grays faced the remarks about their arrogance with a snide look. A little further back stood the Yellows, proud but forever hurt to be the eternal seconds. Then came the Blues, covered with the symbolic traditional scars. At the back of the room, the Reds were wearing their indelible neutrality, preceded by the Greens, who, as usual, were chatting happily about strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and the weather tomorrow.
The fairy mentioned earlier closed her eyes and sighed softly. She was beginning to find time very long. She was wearing, like all those of her caste, a large tunic that was tight around the waist and ankles, which looks like a very large saroual. The garment was made of a single piece of light canvas, very effective for combat, in summer as in winter. The older Blues were topless while she still wore her tunic pulled down over her shoulders, the only notable sign of her adolescence. Her very white hair, gathered in a tight braid that beat against her hips, was the only thing that set her apart from the others, since all the others had hair with different shades of gray. At her waist hung an empty scabbard - she have left her sword at the entrance, which made her more nervous than she should be - and her cheeks and shoulders were studded with thin pale pink scars. In the center of her face, large green eyes looked out over the world with a calm gaze.

About the War Table mission Bestow Mourning Halla.
What the fuck is this?
Hawen's clan wants to give the village of Red Crossing a halla as a sign of mourning for the tragedy that was Red Crossing (elf and human fall in love, elf goes to be with human and become Andrastian, elf's sister's just lost a sibling (to the same humans I think?), doesn't know what brother is doing, wants to drag him back home, goes to village, kills his beloved bc she ran towards her screaming, villagers get up in arms, elves and humans kill each other. This kickstarts the Exalted March on the Dales. I'm not convinced by this either).
So, Keeper Hawen gets told about this, decides to gift the village of Red Crossing a halla (super important for the Dalish!) as a show of good faith but knows that the humans might not want to take it bc prejudices. Your options as Inquisitor to mediate are:
Twist the noble who controls Red Crossing into accepting this, but "it will end two marriages and lead to at least one duel". Twist!!! The noble!!! Into accepting??
Spread rumors so that the villagers of Red Crossing believe, I'm not making this up, that they're guarding a trophy that honors their victory over the Dalish
And, last option, and I quote: "If it's this important, we can march the blasted halla in with some troops to guard it."
Why. Are those. Your options??????? Hawen is offering a show of good faith. He's putting one foot forward. He's being NICE!!! His people lost the war and their kingdom and their way of life, have been harrassed by humans for centuries. He hears this story of the two star-crossed lovers, says hey, maybe my ancestors made a mistake, let's make reparations although it will be hard, and your options to help are a gigantic F You and a JOKE
I am angry!!! The writers had the opportunity to tell the story of a town that, blame here or there, lost people to hostilities between elves and shem, and they threw it into the dirt and stepped on it. Force the humans to accept or trick them. No "thank you". No "hey, maybe our ancestors did something wrong too". No growth, no peace, not even begrudging acceptance that hey, these people did something nice to us although they didn't have to and they probably had good reason not to. A halla. And it gets disrespected in such a way. What kind of storytelling is this?????

Some drawings of various species I’ve been poking around with as part of a random just-for-fun worldbuilding thing, lined up next to each other to give a general idea of how tall they are in comparison.
From left to right: Gnome, dwarf, elf, orc, and human.
Gnomes are actually made of fresh clay, and need to stay moist and out of direct sunlight to avoid drying up and either cracking or becoming too stiff to move.  As such, they live underground in a network of tunnels and caverns that’s come to be known as “the Gnomelands” (or Gnomegardren in their own language), and stick to shady or very moist areas if they’re ever stranded on the surface during broad daylight.  Their “beards” are in fact growths of crystalline or metallic substances, rather than anything close to hair.  They have no need for food, which sometimes leads to awkward situations when they have to attempt to take care of visitors from species who do need to eat -- a guest in a gnomish home may be served something which is only technically food, such as a raw potato or a hard and very moldy loaf of bread that has probably been in storage ever since the last guest came through months or even years before.  “Where do babies come from” is a philosophical question for a gnome rather than one of basic biology, because nobody knows what causes one particular lump of clay to spontaneously come to life and shape itself into a new gnome.  They are possibly immortal, though only in the “can’t die of old age” sense; they can still be killed, and it’s usually assumed that a gnome that dries up completely and hardens into a little statue is killed in the process.
Dwarves are pretty much like you’d expect -- short and stocky, bearded, can see in the dark, usually live underground, and known for mining and a love for gold.  Their attachment to gold isn’t out of greed, however, but rather for religious reasons -- they believe that all the gold that exists came crashing to the world’s surface in falling stars sent by the sun-god Khom ages ago, and that because of its divine nature it is the preferred offering to their entire pantheon of gods.  Gold coins are never used as “everyday” money, but rather donated to temples, where they are often smelted down and shaped into temple decorations or exchanged for other forms of money to be used to pay for temple repairs and improvements.  All dwarves grow beards, though dwarven women typically have thinner, wispier beard hair and much less mustache growth; a total lack of facial hair is strongly associated with disease in dwarven culture, so shaving is all but unheard of.  Their bones are actually denser than those of other humanoid species, contributing to the overall sturdiness they are known for.  Dwarves can interbreed with humans, though the resulting “half-dwarves” are usually indistinguishable from full dwarves.  They can also interbreed with elves, producing what the elves call Lugreleth (”Dark-Elves”) -- slightly shorter and more muscular than elves, with better vision in the dark and a strong dwarven tendency to grow beards (which is all but unheard of in full-blooded elves!)
Elves are known for their pointy ears, keen senses of sight and hearing, and unusual hair and eye colors (dark blue hair and bright yellow, green, or red eyes, for example.)  There are two major racial/cultural subgroups among the elves, the Lonneleth (”Moon-Elves,” so called because their legends claim that they once lived on the moon and were forced down to the world’s surface by some lunar catastrophe ages ago) and the Bosq’eleth (”Wood-Elves.")  The Moon-Elves’ society is based in the far western desert, with their capital city being built in a “forest” of gigantic cacti that has sprung up around a major oasis, though they have been known to travel far from their home country both over land and by sea.  The Wood-Elves, on the other hand, are more isolated and prefer to stick to the swampy forests of the Mureen region in the southeast, where they build their houses high in the branches of the trees with complex networks of ladders, stairs, and walkways which can be raised and lowered to different levels as needed.  The two races of elves speak essentially the same language, albeit with different slang terms and a bit of linguistic drift, suggesting that the two must have some common origin.  Elves can interbreed with humans, producing Miteleth (”half-elves”) who closely resemble full elves, but with slightly shorter ears.  Further crossbreeding with humans causes the elven traits to fade, until eventually after several generations you end up with slightly longer-lived humans who may have unusual hair or eye colors.  The elves refer to hybrids with less than a quarter elven ancestry as Belideth (derived from Belido, “round-ear,” their name for humans.)  Some say that elves and orcs can interbreed, with the result being green-skinned, pointy-eared goblins -- but both the elves and orcs are insistent that this is false and that the occasional goblins seen in the western mountains are a third, unrelated species.
Orcs are muscular, tusked, and typically green-skinned (several different shades of green are possible, ranging from the rare darker blue-greens to greenish-browns to even paler yellowish-green tones.)  They are known for their tough skin and their even tougher stomachs.  Orcs are extremely omnivorous scavengers by nature, capable of easily tolerating food that would be unpleasant or even downright unsafe for a human, whether that would be due to decay, parasites, some other contaminant, or all of the above.  Contrary to popular belief in some parts, Orcs are not inherently any less intelligent than other species... but currently their culture is struggling through something of a “dark age” thanks to a succession of several corrupt leaders (and their supporters) who have pushed them further and further toward a way of life that values an aggressive, paranoid, and anti-intellectual concept of “Orcishness” above all else.  All problems are blamed on supposed threats from outside (especially the elves), and orcs are strongly encouraged to distract themselves with athletic competitions, religious rituals, and large quantities of alcohol and other mind-altering substances rather than thinking about their situation too much.  Of course, not all orcs simply go along blindly with this; orcs have always made long journeys on foot from time to time, and now some families have taken to simply never returning to their homeland (or at least not the regions closest to the capital, where things are at their worst), living as nomads in other lands.  Orcs and humans can interbreed, resulting in half-orcs who are more human-like in appearance (albeit with small tusks and greener skin than any full human) and even taller on average than either of their two parent species while retaining much of the orcish muscle and toughness.
Humans are... well... they’re humans.  You’re probably a human.  You know what a human is already!

Artemisia chapter 4/4
I reach the caravan in less than half an hour, unlike them no creature will attack me if I deviate from the path, I cross a group of gigantic black bears, red eyes, a thin green mist follows their step .. the Plague, I growl in greeting without stopping, I silently follow the group hidden in the shadows that relaxes as they approach Hindafjel, a young witch is waiting for me in the shelter among the trees, "Here you will be hungry" she hands me a plate before saying goodbye, "the Mater has warned me of your arrival, you can rest easy I check that no one comes near" she smiles at me giving me a blanket, "Let them come I fear no one" I smile in turn, "After what they have done, and continue to do, I am waiting for our people ..", "Shhh puppy don't be in a hurry, we've been waiting for the right moment for generations" she tries to calm my impetus, "Many puppies have been saved and now there is the fear of losing you, you understand, right?" she explains to me that they are ready, that the rescued puppies are old enough to fight and have answers, I am not the only one with a head full of questions, she tells me about other parties to have explanations and never returned, of those parties who have taken their revenge and they live as fugitives because they don't feel like demons or elves, I understand that there are many stories behind the smiles and eyes of the people of Medveja, "Nobody will stop you from making this journey and we will not stop you unless your life is in danger ", she gets up to go back to the city before she is noticed, "..Thank you .." I say over thought, it gave me many ideas to think about, I eat without haste watching the rising night, I lie down looking for a comfortable position, wings and tail are very beautiful and useful but I'm not used to having them and finding the position to sleep is not easy, my last thought before falling asleep goes to Kaleb who is waiting for me at home. I don't feel the excitement of the gone, in me the fury is taking the place of curiosity I caress the Shaggays while I secretly get on the boat, the dwarf of the gone smiles at me, "I notice the changes .. now it's you" he says giving me a basket of food, "In Edelween you will have to stay hidden until the people of the Canopy leave, the news of your disappearance has arrived and the Sanguis control the area" he tells me that on his return to the future city of the clan the Sanguis boarded to check that I was not there and questioned him, ".. I didn't say anything .." he reassures me seeing my thoughtful face, "I did not want to cause any harm to our people, I beg your pardon" I answer with my head down, he strokes my fatherly head, "It's okay baby" he smiles, "No damage, did you find the answers you were looking for?" he asks me, "One part yes, I found my mother waiting for me in Medveja" I tell him about the journey to arrive and the people who welcomed me as a daughter, "I also found a partner" I blush, "Very well a new generation is a blessing to the Dark Ones" he laughs at my expression, it's very early to think about having puppies, "the Shaggays will give you the green light when you can go out, I know your blood boils at night but try to hold you back for now ", I ask him what he means, I was taken by the news that I know very little about my being," Wait I'll start this tub and I'll be back "he comes out laughing from the hold, I sit down and eat something, I share the honey with the Shaggays, the female is clearly full of eggs and I want her to be well, they are robust and tender animals but the others do not know it, all the breeds that believe themselves evolved ignore certain animals and it can be an advantage, "What do you want to know, puppy?" he asks me getting comfortable on a pile of skins, I answer that I want to know everything, I have all the time .. and he too, "I would say to start from the night, like all the Dark Ones you feel your blood boil as the sun goes down, it's normal you are a creature of the night you have to learn to exploit the darkness to your advantage .. "he gets up, turns off the torches and passes me a mirror," .. look at you now .. "he smiles at me, I pull up the mirror and I see two bright eyes that they stare at me, I turn around suddenly but there is no one, the dwarf laughs heartily, ".. breathe and see what you become in the dark .." I raise the mirror again and I understand that it is me, the skin seems to shine as if was covered with diamonds, my purple eyes are gone, they have become bright .. I see everything .. I stare at the dwarf and see his blood flowing in his veins, I'm curious more than scared, “Ohh” I say continuing to explore my appearance in the darkness, the tattoo looks alive it moves with me and on me, the wings seem to be loaded with stars, I remain mesmerized watching them move, “I understand why Kal finds me beautiful. . "I smile, giving the mirror back," ... I'm gorgeous "I laugh in a low voice, "Yes you are and this beauty attracts your prey, it will not be you who seek them .. they will crawl adoringly at your feet" i explains how to move your wings to hypnotize and subjugate others, "On the Darks it doesn't work" he smiles, "In addition to making you irresistible, the night protects and hides you .." he explains my strength, how to glide and how to fight, the dagger in the I will not need my bag, I have an arsenal of nails and teeth and my tail in addition to giving me stability is a defense tool, like wings, they seem delicate but their fabric is dragon skin .. impenetrable, it spends hours giving me tips and suggestions and I absorb everything like a sponge, "Now you know practically everything puppy" she smiles at her and gets up to dock in Edelween, we're almost there, "One more question .." I stop him, she looks at me expectantly, "..what is your name?" I ask, "Call me Rethundil" she replies introducing herself, "Thanks Rethundil .. thanks for everything" I smile watching him go out, I hide waiting for the night, the ship is docking and the elves are relaxed .. I'm almost at home .. and me too. I run in the darkness and reach the caravan, they are no longer silent and afraid, they do not see what I see, the animals of the night staring at them, the big wolves that follow them waiting for someone's false step, it would not be the first time someone does not come back, I realize that it was never the fault of the "wild beasts" but of the stupidity of the elves, a big black wolf that I didn't even notice shows me his teeth in greeting, I answer by lowering my head, he is an alpha and I have to respect, he growls in my ear and I understand that he is giving me the welcome back home, like other creatures he has seen me grow up, he has saved my life several times without me ever knowing it, my elf parents love me. . but it is nothing compared to the love of the Dark Ones, something so strong and wild that it fills me with joy, I dig my fingers into his thick and soft fur and scratch his ear, pant cheerful, I join them in following the Sanguis , it is almost dawn when the caravan a arrives in sight of the Canopy, I slip into a cave as soon as I hear the cries of the puppies waiting on top of the big oak, many times I too have waited with my brothers for the return of our father from a trip, I smile at that memory despite everything I miss my brothers, they have done nothing wrong, I spend the day spying on the Canopy, I see my "parents" running to meet the Sanguis hoping to see me with them, I hear them talking agitated and worried about theirs curious puppy that has disappeared, the Sanguis reply that they have not seen me but that they will immediately return to the north to look for me .. or find my body, I see my mother crying about that idea, I realize that I am growling with anger "her" she has no right to be worried, she didn't care about the pain she caused my mother when she took me from her, she didn't care about chasing the dark Ones out of the canopy after the war, selfish .. selfish and stupid, I want go out and jump in her throat but I have to be patient, I try to rest I snuggle with the wolves and I fall asleep, a puppy wakes me up at sunset, the mother licks my face as if I were part of her furry litter, I caress her head and I follow, the herd shares with me the big turtle captured the night before, I feed myself feeling the blood warm up, it is almost night, I leave the cave and I walk silently towards the Canopy, the Sanguis are watching as always but I am invisible, they do not expect a "visit", I enter the village with the favor of the waning moon, the night is darker and offers me refuge as I walk fearlessly in what was my world, I hear the voices of the elves hidden in their trees, I come before that that was my home, my family is gathered around the table, my place is set as if they were waiting for me, I effortlessly climb the plants that I have always used to sneak out at night and enter the room that I share. I share with my sister, I silently go down the stairs and enter the dining room I have wings open dancing everyone is breathless hypnotized by what they are, motionless, in adoration, I want them to see the old me in their head, the sweet Artemisia curious puppy, but it will be the new me to drink their blood, "My little Artemisia" my mother in tears runs to me and hugs me, my father and my brothers smile, "We have been so in pain, Lothien warns the Matriarch that your sister is back ..", "Not a step Lot" I hiss to my brother, "Let's not disturb the Sanguis .. sit down like a good man", "Sure little sister" he replies dazed, "Art we must warn you that you are here, they are looking for you everywhere" says my father touching my arm, I burst out laughing and the spell ends, I want answers and I want them to see me for who I am, "WHO ARE YOU TO BE UNFORGETTABLE!" shouts my older brother putting himself in front of the little ones protective, I turn to him growling, "Sit down and shut up, I don't want to make hurt you.. brother "I smile trying to stay calm, my fury would like to tear him apart, "Brother? BROTHER??" he shouts, "Who are you I don't know you .." remains mute as soon as he recognizes the scar next to my ear, he made it to me playing some time before, "..how can you be?" cjiede staring at me, "My puppy what happened to you?" my mother clasps her hands to her chest and cries, I'm disgusted, "Nothing happened to me, I'm just a teenager" I laugh staring at my family, "But you and your husband did know", I walk around the room, "I want to know why and I'll leave as I came ..", "After your brother we could not have other puppies .." my father begins, ".. many couples could not have any, after the war the elves were decimated we had to survive and there were many mixed puppies left alone ..", "I was not alone .. I had a family that you destroyed .." I reply furiously, "Artemisia, my daughter, you must understand .." my mother goes on in that calm tone of voice, ".. the Matriarch could not allow healthy and robust puppies to be raised by beasts, half of your blood is elven and you should be grateful to have found parents who loved and raised you "she continues convinced," who made you want for nothing, allowing you to grow up in comfort and in a beautiful home .. ", I don't let her finish, it's too much for my ears, these stupid elves think they are right, they think that snatching the puppies from their mothers is right, that keeping my people in the dark and discomfort is right .. the poison runs in my veins I throw forward towards her, Lothien gets on between me and my prey, he is the first to fall off his head with a single blow, the blood gushes from his cut throat, everyone starts screaming, they try to escape but they are too slow, I move like in a dance, I tear eyes, I shatter bones spreading the lo useless blood everywhere in the room, I come upon the elf mother who is on her knees and weeps amid screams, I dig my nails into her neck and open her throat by tearing her tongue from the base, I enjoy the gurgling of her agony, my father has succeeded to take his dagger, I turn to him laughing and show him my teeth, I am about to put an end to his useless life when, out of nowhere, the witches appear and drag me into the mirror with difficulty, not before he has torn the ears of the elf, the last thing I see is the Sanguis breaking in, "My beautiful Misia" Kaled kisses me as soon as the portal closes, my blind fury takes a moment to understand where I am and who is holding me, I freeze with my nails planted on his chest while he squeezes my face excited by the vision of me covered in blood, "..Kal .." I blink and hug him, "..why did you stop me .." I growl furiously at the witches who are catching their breath, "As I told you no one would stop you .." Zathia replies out of breath, ".. unless your life goes away .." she smiles while drinking the rum that my mother is passing to her, "The Sanguis asked for Queen Mantida's poison before coming to your parents' house," a witch explains to me, "she would not have killed you but weakened you enough to be able to capture and torture you .. we could not allow it", "..Thank you .." I smile, my fury is waning, I'm covered in the blood of my family, the adrenaline and the poison run fast in my veins, "You won't be able to go back .." I say sad for them, "We wouldn't have come back if it weren't for you," Mater says entering the tent, "We have everything we need to defend the dark races, all the witches have been recalled and the mirrors destroyed, even if the elves and humans are not. they can use them "he laughs giving me a pat on the head," Don't worry no one will come here to look for you, you have humiliated them and the Matriarch will hide everything ", Kaleb takes me by the hand, "Come on you are so beautiful but it's time to take a bath before the vampires mistake you for dinner" he laughs, dragging me towards the hot pools, "Tell me everything in detail please" he asks as he weaves a strand of blue hair of my brother to mine, I tell him everything, the fury, the noise of my brothers' bones crumbling, my elf mother crying, blood everywhere, "I missed a great massacre .." he laughs taking me by the hips, ".. come here we must celebrate your first blood" he pushes me to the edge of the hot pool kissing me with passion, the fury has given way to excitement, I lose myself in his arms imagining the stories that will be told about me, only that they are not a story I will become their worst nightmare, my nights will be dedicated to pleasure and blood, when they wake up there will be no more laughter but screams and tears.

Norse Mythology
ig: @sunshine.writing
As with every culture, there are many different interpretations and I tried my best to use the most popular ones. There are also many different versions and spellings for the names of the gods and goddesses, but I used the anglicized and most popular spellings.
Aesir and Vanir
The Norse gods are divided into two families, the Aesir family, and the Vanir family. The Aesir family is the larger of the two and is mostly connected with war and government and includes the gods Odin, Thor, Loki, Baldr, Hodr, Heimdall, and Tyr. The Vanir family includes the fertility gods and goddesses such as Njord, Feyr, and Freyja. Both families reside in Asgard but don’t see eye-to-eye as shown through the Aesir-Vanir war.
Besides the Aesir and Vanir, there are also female deities known as Disir, Alfar (elves), Jotnar (giants), and Dvergar (dwarves).
Aesir Gods and Goddesses
Odin - Odin was the King of the Aesir clan and known as “the father of all gods.” He’s depicted as a one-eyed, bearded old man wearing a hat and a cloak. He was said to have slain the first being known as Ymir before carving up his body to help create the Earth. He was one of the most powerful and revered of the gods and associated with wisdom, knowledge, healing, death, and war. He also ruled over Valhalla.
Thor - Son of Odin, he was regarded as the strongest of all the Norse deities because he was tasked with safeguarding Asgard. He was the most popular of all the gods and worshipped by most Vikings. He was the god of thunder and lightning and wielded the Mjolnir. He rode a chariot drawn by two massive goats called Tanngnjostr and Tanngrisnir.
Loki - Loki was considered a “blood brother” of Odin. He was known as the trickster god and was equipped with the ability to shapeshift into different forms. He was the chief engineer behind the death of Balder.
Frigg - Frigg was the wife of Odin and the queen of the Aesir gods. She was the only one allowed to sit next to her husband and always stuck by her partner even though he had many extramarital affairs.  She was worshipped as the goddess of the sky and associated with wisdom, marriage, family, and fertility. She was blessed with the power of divination but never revealed her visions to anyone.
Baldur - Son of Odin and half-brother to Thor, Baldur was the god of light and purity. He was described as fair, kind, and handsome, whose beauty was unparalleled. He was the epitome of all things wise and good and often praised for his mercifulness. Also thought to be immortal, he had been prophesied to die and was slain by an arrow made out of mistletoe, his death orchestrated by Loki.
Heimdall - Heimdall is the son of Odin and no less than nine mothers, and is the watchman of the god. He dwelt at the entry to Asgard where he guarded Bifrost.
Tyr - Tyr is the god of War and the Lawgiver of the gods. The bravest of the gods, he makes the binding of Fenrir possible by sacrificing his right hand. He’s the son of Odin and the son of the giant Hymir.
Idun - Idun is the goddess of spring or rejuvenation and is the wife of Bragi. She was the keeper of the magic apples of immortality which the gods must eat to preserve their youth.
Bragi - Bragi is the skaldic poet of the Aesir and his name means “poet”. He’s the son of Odin and possibly the giantess Gunnlod, and the husband to Idun.
Vili and Ve - Vili and Ve are the two brothers of Odin who helped to slay Ymir to create the remaining seven realms. They’re the sons of Bestla and Borr and were raised in the realm of Nifelheim.
Forseti - He’s the son of Baldr and Nanna, and is the god of justice and reconciliation.
Gefjun - She’s the goddess of agriculture, fertility, abundance, and prosperity. Her name can be translated to “Giver” or “Generous One.”
Sif - Sif is the wife of Thor as well as a giantess and the goddess of grain and fertility. She was one of the Asynjur and mother of Ullr.
Fjorgynn and Fjorgyn - Fjorgyn, also known as Jord, is a giantess and the mother of Thor through an affair with Odin. Her masculine form Fjorgynn is the father of the goddess Frigg, the wife of Odin.
Sol and Mani - Sol and Mani were the beings who drove the sun and the moon in their courses through the sun. They were sister and brother, and both were fair and beautiful. Sol had to travel at great speed, pursued by a wolf named Skoll who would eventually devour her. Mani kidnapped two humans named Bil (waning) and Hjuki (waxing), children of Vidfinn, and forced them to travel with him. Like his sister, he was also being chased by a hound named Hati Hrodvitnisson.
Ullr - Ullr is the god of sports, particularly archery and skiing. He’s the son of Sif and Egill and step-son to Thor.
Hoenir - Hoenir is a warrior god and is the travel companion of Odin and Loki. He was also part of the creation of Ask and Embla. He goes with Mimir to the Vanir as a hostage in order to seal a truce to the Aesir-Vanir War. He’s the god of indecision, avoidance, and mystery.
Vidar - Son of Odin and Gridr, he was known as Vidar the silent, the possessor of the iron shoe, the enemy and slayer of Fenrir, the avenger, and he who inhabits the homestead of his father. He’s a warrior god and an excellent fighter.
Hodr - Hodr is the blind god of winter and warriors. Oftentimes he’s depicted with a bow and arrows, or the spear that Loki used to trick him. He was the son of Frigg and Odin and twin brother of Baldr. Sometimes he’s thought to be a god of darkness.
Vali - Son of Odin and the giantess Rindr, Vali was born for the sole purpose of avenging Baldr. He kills Hodr and binds Loki with the entrails of his son Narfi. He’s the god of vengeance.
Vanir Gods and Goddesses
Freya - Freya was the goddess of fate, love, beauty, gold, war, and fertility. She ruled over the meadow of Folkvangr and owned a torc or necklace known as the Brisingamen as well as a cloak made of falcon feathers. She rode a chariot drawn by two cats and was accompanied by a board called Hildisvini most of the time. She practiced Seidr, which is a form of magic that allowed her the ability to control and manipulate the desires and prosperity of others.
Freyr - Freyr is associated with sacral kingship, virility, peace, prosperity, sunshine and fair weather, and good harvest. He’s the son of Njord and the god of fertility, rain, and sunshine. His twin sister is Freyja.
Freyja - Freyja, twin sister and counterpart of Freyr, was the goddess of love, fertility, battle, and death. Her father was Njord. Pigs were sacred to her, and she rode a boar with golden bristles.
Njord - Njord is the god of seas, wealth, wind, and fishing. He was the father of Freyr and Freyja.
Nerthus - Nerthus is a goddess associated with fertility. She was also associated with peace and prosperity. She was the wife and sister of Njord and the mother of Freyr and Freyja.
Gullveig - Gullveig is a sorceress and seer with great love and lust for gold. She was speared by the Aesir, burnt three times, and yet thrice reborn.
Odr - Odr is the husband of Freyja
Norse Creatures
Dwarves - Also known as dark elves, they’re small creatures that originated as maggots from the corpse of Ymir. They live underground in Svartalfheim (literally means “home of the black elves”) and are said to have crafted the finest weapons and jewelry such as Mjollnir and Gungnir. In certain myths, they’re portrayed as turning to stone if exposed to sunlight.
Draugar - The Draugar are the undead. Some myths describe them as creatures who drink blood, they’re more similar to zombies than vampires. They possess superhuman strength and can increase their size at will, but have a constant stench of decay and appear as a dead body. They often live in their graves to defend the treasure they were buried with but can also enter communities to torment those who wronged them in life. They’re said to be able to enter the dreams of the living to torment them, and would leave behind a gift so the victims knew the encounter was real.
Elves - Elves are separated into two different types; Dokkalfar, or dark elves, and Ljosalfar, light elves. Dark elves are thought to be the same as dwarves and light elves are described as more beautiful than the sun. They’re generally described as having an ambivalent relationship with humans.
Fenrir - Fenrir was the son of Loki and the giantess Angroboda. He was raised by the gods of Asgard to stop him from wreaking havoc across the nine worlds but the gods ended up deciding to chain him up. It’s believed that when Fenrir breaks his chains to get his revenge, it will lead to Ragnarok, the end of the world.
Fossegrimen - Also known as the grim, he’s a water spirit who plays the fiddle mimicking the sounds of the forest, wind, and water. He can be bribed to teach his skill with an offering that he deems sufficient. He’s also known to lure women and children to lakes and streams where they drown.
Huldra - Wardens of the forest and part of a group of Ra that protects various locations. Female Huldra are described as beautiful and seductive, with a long tail of a cow and their back covered in bark. They can disguise themselves as young women to walk in the world of men but their power of illusion is broken if someone sees their tail. They lure young, unmarried men into the forest and keep them as slaves, lovers, or sometimes they’ll suck the life out of them.
Jormungandr - Also known as the Midgard Serpent, Jormungandr is another child of Loki and Angrboda. He is a snake or dragon that lives in the sea surrounding Midgard. He is described as an enemy of Thor and during Ragnarok, the two are fated to slay one another.
Jotnar - Jotnar, meaning “devourers”, are giants with powers that rival the power of the gods. They’re the enemy of the gods and the Jotnar embody chaos. Many of the Asgardian gods are descended from Jotnar such as Odin and Thor.
Kraken - Aquatic monsters that are believed to live off the shores of Norway and Greenland. They’re depicted as gigantic octopi or squids. They mostly ate fish but when it rose to the surface, it was believed to cause large whirlpools which would help it attack ships.
Valkyries - The female helping spirits of Odin, depicted as elegant maidens who ferry the slain to Valhalla. Their name means “choosers of the Slain”, which hints at their more sinister side, the fact that they also choose who lives and dies in battle. They would sometimes use malicious magic to ensure their preferences.
Sleipnir - Odin’s mighty eight-legged horse is the child of Loki and Svadilfari. It had eight legs so that it could have one leg in each of the Norse worlds.
Mare - The Mare monster gave people bad dreams at night by sitting on them in their sleep. Often they were witches whose souls took the forms of animals, but normal people, particularly adolescents, were also thought to become Mare when their spirits wandered. It was believed that when the Mare touched a living thing, people, cattle, or trees, it would cause their hair to become entangled.
Trolls - There are large ugly trolls that dwell in forests and mountains, and small gnome-like trolls that live underground in deep caves and caverns. They’re depicted as not very intelligent and malevolent but can show kindness in exchange for a favor.
Norns - The three principal Norns served as the caretakers of the tree of life, but their care only slowed the death of the tree.
Ratatoskr - A squirrel that runs up and down the tree of life delivering the messages of the gods. He enjoys stirring trouble between the wise eagle that sits atop the tree and the hungry dragon that swells in its roots.
The Nine Realms
Yggdrasil - Yggdrasil is the mighty tree whose trunk rises at the geographical center of the Norse spiritual cosmos. It’s believed that the nine worlds are all held in the branches and roots of the tree of Yggdrasil. It’s commonly said to be an ash tree.
Niflheim - The realm of fog and mist. It’s the darkest and coldest region of all the realms. It’s one of the first two realms and is placed in the northern region of Ginnngagap. Hvergelmir is located in Niflheim, which is said to be the source of the elven rivers. As Yggdrasil started to grow, it stretched one of its large roots far into Niflheim to draw water from Hvergelmir.
Muspelheim - The land of fire. Muspelheim was created at the same time as Niflheim but was created far to the south. It’s a burning hot place filled with lava, flames, sparks, and soot. It’s the home of the fire giants, fire demons, and is ruled by Surtr.
Asgard - Home of the Gods. The most commonly known realm, Asgard is located in the middle of the world, high up in the sky. It’s the home of the gods and goddesses and is ruled by the chief of Aesir Odin. Inside the gates of Asgard is Valhalla, the place where half who die in battle will go for the afterlife and the other half go to Folkvangr.
Midgard - Home of the humans. “Middle earth” is located in the middle of the world below Asgard. Midgard and Asgard are connected by Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge. It’s surrounded by a large, impassable ocean that is occupied by the Midgard Serpent. The first two humans were Ash and Embla and were sent to Midgard after being created from tree logs by Odin and his brothers Vili and Ve.
Jotunheim - Home of the giants. Jotunheim consists mostly of rocks, wilderness, and dense forests, and lies in the snowy regions on the outermost shores of the ocean. There is no fertile land in Jotunheim. Jotunheim is separated from Asgard by the river living which never freezes over.
Vanaheim - Home of the Vanir. Nobody knows where exactly the land is located or how it looks.
Alfheim - Home of the light elves. Alfheim is located right next to Asgard in heaven. The god Freyr is the ruler of Alfheim.
Svartalfheim - Home of the dwarves. Svartalfheim means dark fields, and they live under the rocks, in caves, and underground. Hreidmar was the king of Svartalfheim until he was killed.
Helheim - Home of the dishonorable dead. Hel is where the dishonorable dead, thieves, murderers, or those the gods and goddesses feel are not brave enough to go to Valhalla or Folkvangr. Helheim is ruled over by Hel and is a very grim and cold place. Any person who arrives at Helheim will never feel joy or happiness again.
