I'm an argumentative bastard just like both my parents but I try not to get into fights too much because a lot of arguments just turn into a waste of time but fuck man. It's really hard sometimes.

Who Are You?
Erik!Stevens x Black!Reader
------------
(Y/N) and Erik have known each other since they were kids, they have been fooling around with each for the past few years. After leaving her for months with no contact, he pops up with a not so settling surprise.
Warnings: Blood, Cursing
(Y/M/F/N) : Your moms full name
(Y/D/F/N): Your dad’s full name
--------------
Erik!Stevens x Black!Reader
“It was a nice time seeing you again.” Sean said licking his lips at her as she smiled at him. This was the 4th date they been on, things starting to get a little more serious with him and honestly she was enjoying herself. It’s been five months since she broke up with Erik, and honestly she was enjoying herself. Sure, she missed him. Wondered where he went. She warned him the next time he up and left her, she would move on. She stood by her word.
“Thanks Sean, I really enjoyed myself.” she said biting her bottom lip. “Maybe next time we can have a little more fun.” she said stepping a little further towards him. She most definitely hit the jack pot with him. He owned two dealer ships out in L.A and two in Oakland. He was a gentlemen, kind, freaky. Didn’t leave her on read, it was like he was sent down from heaven.
“What kind of fun you tryna have lil mama?” he said gripping her waist and pulling him towards her as she giggled. “Lemme come in now, show you something real?” he said as she rolled her eyes pushing him away as he smacked his teeth.
“Boy I have work in the morning. I have to be at the office at like 8 in the morning.” she said as he shook his head.
“Yeah, I’ll let you get away with it this time but next time that ass is mine, you understand me?” he said biting her exposed shoulder as she moaned a bit.
“Yes sir.” she said. After they said their goodbyes, she walked inside the house with a huge grin on her face as she took off her heels.
“Who the fuck is that nigga?” she heard. Her head shot up, as she slowly turned around and saw Erik walking towards her with a glass of, assuming Crown Royal. His favorite drink. Next to Hennessey.
“The fuck are you doing in my house?” she asked walking past him, His head turned towards her direction as she placed her purse on the kitchen counter. His eye twitched when he saw that she wasn’t excited to see him.
“(Y/N), answer my fucking question. Who the fuck is-”
“He’s my boyfriend.” she snapped turning around looking at him. Erik busted out laughing, putting his hand out on the counter closing his eyes.
“Yeah okay. I’m going to ask you again. Who the fuck is that bitch ass nigga, (Y/N)?” he snapped as (Y/N) rolled her eyes.
“That’s my boyfriend, Erik.” she said taking off her heels. “You know, significant other. Lover. Someone I fuck on the regular.” she said looking at him dead in the eye. Erik soon saw that she was serious.
“Are you fucking serious?”
“As a heart attack. I don’t know what you expected. I warned you that this was going to happen. So you can kindly get the hell out.” she said pointing towards the front door. “And leave the key.”
“You must have lost your mind.” he whispered. “(Y/N), I’m sorry that I left. Really. You know I can’t tell you where I go and-”
“And you know what? That’s fine. You don’t ever have to worry about telling me shit because I don’t want anything to do with you, or whatever the fuck you’re doing.” she snapped at him. “Just-Just leave. Now.” she said.
“You know I can’t do that.”
“Why not?” she said walking over to him pointing her finger into her chest. “You do it all the fucking time. Months on end. Well I’m putting my foot down. Maybe some other bitch can deal with it but I can’t.” she said to him, her nostrils flaring in anger.
“I understand. I really do but-”
“If you understood like you say you do, you would understand why I cut you loose and moved on. I played along with this for way too long and I need to look out for myself.” she said. Something that she said triggered something in him.
“(Y/N), no offense but I have a lot of shit in my life personally. I have shit to do and you can’t know that. Yes, I be gone. For a long time. But what I do I can’t just, just say out and about because I-” he stopped himself before saying something.
“Because you what?” she backed away crossing her arms over her chest. “Well I know damn well you’re not going to say because you don’t trust me because I’ve known you since we were kids.” she said shaking her head. She was hoping that he would contradict but he just sat there looking at her.
“You really don’t trust me.” she said quietly, looking at him with so much defeat it almost broke him in half. “Get out, Erik. Or I’m calling the police.”
“(Y/N) wait.”
“Erik! Just shut up! You don’t understand how hard and stressful it is not to hear or speak to you, thinking that you moved on with someone else, or hurt or even worse! That shit took so much of my mental state that I couldn’t eat or sleep. You don’t understand! You think that you can come up in here, dick me down, buy me some shit and tell me what I want to hear and all will be well but no. I can’t do it anymore. And if you don’t trust me enough to tell me what the fuck you have going on then I don’t want nothing to do with you or whatever the fuck you have going on!” she yelled at him.
“(Y/N), listen to me.” he said grabbing her hands. “Look, I know what I do to you ain’t right. You don’t have to tell me because I already know it’s true. There are so many things that I want to tell you  but I can’t.” he said as she looked down sighing.
“I can’t, do this.” she let his hands go. “Just go, please.” she said, tears rushing down her face.
“(Y/N) please. I-”
“No Erik. Just go.”
He gave her one last look before walking out.
----------------------
“Good morning everyone!” she exclaimed to her staff. “So as you all know, I will be opening a store in Miami. That means that I’m going to need a manager there to run the store. So I am sending out an email, you can apply and we’ll go from there.” she announced to everyone. Chatter spread through out the room, as she made her way to her office.
“Hey, so I sent out the invoice about inventory check list. They should be emailing it to you by the end of the week.” her assistant Tonya said.
“Thanks.” She walked into her office going to her desk and opening up her Desktop.
“Also, Erik came by this morning.” she said as her hands clenched into a fist. “He said to call him when you get the chance.” she said as she rolled her eyes.
“Yeah right.” she laughed to herself before opening her email.
“Everything alright? It’s been a while since he stopped by the office.” she said as (Y/N) looked up at her.
“That’s because I haven’t seen him since June.” (Y/N) told her. “No text, no call, no nothing.” she snapped.
“Jesus, that’s five months...” she trailed off as she nodded.
“He came to my house last night when Sean dropped me off. Questioning me about Sean and shit. Like nigga you have no room to be questioning me, questioning me in my house at that.” she scoffed, hearing her phone ding to see it was Sean texting her.
“Forreal? The audacity.” she chuckled sitting on the seats that sat in front of the desk.
Sean: Hey, you free for lunch this afternoon? I know you said you wanted to try out that new BBQ place on 21st street...
She smiled at the text before texting him back.
(Y/N): Yeah, I’ll meet you there around 1:00?
Sean: Sure thing beautiful.
“Anyways.” she closed her phone placing it on the desk. “Erik came by the house last night, telling me he couldn’t tell me because he didn’t trust me. A-And that he wanted to tell me but he couldn’t tell me. Like what am I suppose to think about that? It makes him looks sneaky.” she admitted as Erik nodded.
“Have you ever thought about him being like a... you know. Drug Lord? Or like, a gang member or something?” he said as (Y/N) paused, than laughed.
“A drug dealer? That’s a good one. I’ve known Erik my entire life and trust me, I would’ve noticed if he was hiding something like that from me.” she said shaking her head.
“I mean- think about it? Do you know what he does? Like, career wise. Nigga be driving the newest cars, dripped down in designers, spoiling you with money and shit and you haven’t even thought about it just once.” she said as (Y/N) sat back in her chair.
“I mean, it’s crossed my mind but like I said, it’s just so far from what I know.” she said as Tonya stood up.
“Well, just a thought to think about. I’m going to go down to customer service and get their weekly review.” she said as she nodded.
There is no way that he could be a drug dealer...
-----------------------------
(Y/N) walked into the restaurant, looking around and seeing Sean sitting there looking at the menu. She walked over to him as he saw her, smiling at her. “Look at you, you look good.” he smirked standing up as she smiled. She gave him a hug, and pecked his lips as she smiled.
“Thank you, same to you. Sorry I was late, my last meeting with a little longer than I wanted too.” she said sitting down on the other side of the booth.
“No worries, I ordered you a sweet tea with a slice of lemon.” he said to her as she smiled at him.
“Thank you.” he nodded closing the menu.
“There is something that I actually wanted to tell you.” he said as she nodded. “Someone reached out to me, by the name of... Killmonger? Said that he knew you.” he said as she tilted her head to the side.
“Killmonger...” she trailed off before shaking her head. “I’ve never heard of them before.” she said as he nodded sitting in his back.
“Really?’
“Nope.” she said shaking her head. “That’s a cool name though..” she trailed off looking at her own menu.
“That’s interesting.. because he said you were his ex.” he said as she put the menu down on the table looking at him. “He knew a lot of things about you, that you lived on South Viker Elm,  what cars you drive, your full name...” he trailed off as she looked up at him, scared to death.
“What the fuck..” she whispered.
“You sure you don’t know who that is? Because I’m having a hard time believing you.” he said to her leaning forward as she thought about it before her eye twitched.
“What did he say?”
“He knew your mom name was (Y/M/F/N) and your dad’s name is (Y/D/F/N),  you were born in (H/C).” she was freaked out until she realized it was most likely Erik. “Hell I didn’t even know you’re parents name was-”
“Actually, I might have an idea. We aren’t really exes. Just.. just someone that I used to mess around with. He left me a couple of months ago.” she said to him.
“Oh.. it’s that dude.” he said as she nodded.
“Yeah. I swear I don’t mean to put you through this. He came by the house last night and we got into an argument, but that’s about it. I have no idea how he got your number.” she said as he chuckled.
“He didn’t only know my number. He knew my name too.” he said looking at her.
“Sean, I swear. I don’t know how the hell he got that information. I would never do that to you. Did he threaten you?” she asked him as he chuckled.
“Something along that line.” he said taking his drink to his lips. “But don’t worry about that, I handled myself. I just want you to know that ya little ex-fling is tryna check me and that just don’t sit right with me.” he said as she sighed closing her temples.
“I’m sorry, I-”
“I’m just fucking with you ma.” he said as she threw a napkin at him as he laughed. “But I’m serious about the ex thing.”
“Don’t worry, I got something for him.”
----------------------
She walked into the building, to not only be surprised to see Erik reading one of the magazines that was in the waiting area. ‘(Y/N) can we-”
“You. In my office, Now!” she exclaimed quietly. He looked shocked about her outburst, confused she followed her instructions. She put the stuff on the table before looking at him.
“The fuck is wrong with you!?” she yelled at him as he stared at her.
“There are a lot of things wrong with me. For starters-”
“Erik, I’m serious. Why the fuck are you calling him threatening him?” she asked as he still stared at her confused.
“The fuck are you talking about?”
“Sean! He told me you called him using this name Killmonger, a-and that you were telling him shit about me?” she snapped. “Now I don’t know what the fuck you have going on but leave me and him alone.” she said pointing a finger at him.
It felt like his entire heart stopped. “(Y/N), I swear on my mother I didn’t call no one. What’s his name?”
“Are you seriously going to sit there and play stupid?” she laughed shaking her head. “Erik he knew my mom and dads name! The only person in my life who knows that is you!” she exclaimed.
“Fuck!”
“(Y/N), listen. You can be mad at me for whatever reason. I don’t care about that right now? Tell me what his name is?” he said walking over to her. If there was something about (Y/N), she knew when Erik was in distress. Or scared. The look on his face showed nothing but pure fear.
“Erik, what is it that you’re not telling me?” she asked him. It looked as if he was in deep thought about something, something in which had his mind racing. Like he was debating. “Erik, please talk to me. Be honest. I need to know because if it’s not you someone out there knows shit about me and I need to get that shit dealt with. ASAP.” she said as Erik looked at the door biting him lip.
“Lock the door.” he said as she nodded. She walked to the door locking it before walking back to him.
“The reason why I go out for months at end isn’t because I’m cheating on you, or I’m hiding from you. I get paid.. to do things. Bad things to people.” he said as she backed up a little.
“Do what?” she asked him as he sighed.
“People pay me to handle their dirty work. They pay me to top people off.” she stared at him in complete shock. “Look, it’s not just random people. It’s people that do bad things.” he said as she looked at him. “So all this time, I’ve been fucking a murderer.” she said as he groaned rubbing his handsome his face.
“It’s not like that I swear, it’s just- you know my background. I was good in the military and now I’m good and it pays good.” he said as she scoffed.
“Yeah it pays good until you mess with the wrong people. Erik, some dude name Killmonger got ahold of my shit and-”
“Killmonger is me. That’s what I’m called.” he said as she scoffed.
“So you did call Sean, right? Wow-”
“No, can you shut up? Let me talk.” he said to her. She was taken back by the outburst but he continued. “Whoever that is knows about me, and knows enough about me to get to you. This dude you been messing with, knows too much information (Y/N).” he said stepping in front of her.
“You need to trust me, I need to know everything. I really don’t give a fuck if you’re mad at me or you never want to see me again. I just need to know you are safe.”  he told her. She was scared shitless out of her mind. There was so much on her mind at the moment that she couldn’t quite gasp the fact that someone was out to get her. Never mind Erik being an assassin.
“(Y/N), look at me.” he grabbed her chin to make him look at me. “Please, you need to trust me.”
“That doesn’t make sense. Why would he lie about that if he knew I was going to confront you about it..” she trailed off as he shrugged his shoulders.
“Maybe to throw it in my face...” he said as he looked at her. “But I gotta plan for his ass.”
----------------------------------
“Come in.” She smiled at Sean grabbing his hand. He looked her up and down licking his lips.
“All this for  me..” he whispered looking at her. It was a new set she bought a couple of weeks ago, it was emerald green with rhinestones along the bands, her hair was in a slick back bun, her makeup was perfectly done.
“Yup. I told you I wanted to have a little fun.” she whispered starting to unbutton his shirt.
“Sheesh, you ain’t gotta tell me.” he said as she smirked at him. She grabbed his hand leading him to the spare room as he stared at her ass the entire time. “You got in touch with that nigga yet?”
“Killmonger?” she asked tilting her head.
“Yeah.. him.” he said rolling his eyes as she chuckled.
“No. Not yet. I tried to but he ain’t answering my phone calls.” she said as she pushed him on the chair that she had in the room. “But let’s not worry about him... I want my focus all. On. You.” she said pecking his chest. She got on her knees in front of him.
“Oh you a nasty lil bitch ain’t you...” he smirked at her as she smirked back at him. She grabbed the handcuffs as he looked at it laughing. “Oh shit..” he whispered. (Y/N) handcuffed him to the chair. That’s when she saw Erik come out of the closet, putting the pistol to his head.
“So your Sean.” he said as (Y/N) stood up. She grabbed her black robe slipping it over her body as she looked at Sean, Sean giving her the dirtiest glare.
“You been working with this nigga the entire time?”
“Actually no. She cussed me out thinking I called yo bitch ass.” Erik said. “But don’t worry about my girl. Worry-”
“Um, I’m not your girl.” (Y/N) cut in as Erik looked at her. “What? You think you can just say that shit after everything. No.. hell no.” she said looking back at Sean shaking her hand. “I don’t want a relationship with no one.. at all.” she said.
“We’ll talk about that. You.” he said looking back at Sean. “Talk.”
“Man fuck you, ain’t saying-” Erik punched him in the nose, knocking the chair over as she gasped.
“Erik chill!” she yelled as he turned to look at her. “That chair was hella expensive. You think I want his blood all over my shit.”
“Bruh, I’ll buy you another one.”
She rolled her eyes sitting on the bed. Erik sat the chair back up. “Talk nigga.”
“You remember Kingston?” he said as Erik nodded. “That was my brother.”
“Kingston don’t have no brother named Sean.”
“No shit dumbass. You think I’ma use my real name fucking with y’all. I wanted you dead. And it seems like the only family you got is her.” he said nodding his head towards (Y/N). “By the way, (Y/N), at first it was just a get up to get to him but I really do like-” And another punch sent to his face.
“You really think you can just sit up here and confess your feelings to her in my face nigga!” he yelled at him as he coughed up blood. All over her floor.
“Who is Kingston?” (Y/N) asked Erik as Erik sighed.
“A target. He was trafficking girls in Uganda. One of the girls died and the mother offered to pay me a good 10 Thousand to get his ass. Guess what?” Erik said lifting that nigga off the floor.
“I did that shit for free.” he laughed in front of Sean or whatever his name was.
“You get paid that much?” she asked as Erik laughed.
“Nah, that’s probably one of the lowest bids I’ve gotten. The highest I’ve had was like... 10 Million plus an extra 2  million if I could get the target and his crew.” he said as she looked at him in shock.
“Anyways, just know that I killed that bitch ass nigga with no price.” he said. “Like I’m gonna do you.” he said taking off the safety on his pistol making her flinch.
She was scared out of her mind to see him like this. Was he really about to kill him in her house? All that blood and-
BANG!
She looked to see Sean's body lumped over in the chair as she stared at him in shock. “Well we don’t have to worry about that nigga no more.” he said putting the gun in his waist band. “I know some people who’ll come and clean this up. Make it look like someone was never killed here before.” he chuckled. He noticed she wasn’t saying anything before looking at her as she stared at the dead body in horror.
“Oh fuck. I should’ve done this without you in the room..” he trailed off. “Let’s go.” he said grabbing her as he took her to her room.
Erik saw this look before. He knew what was happening. She was going to be scared of him. “You want me to run you a bath?” he asked her as she looked outside the window.
He went to her bathroom, filling the bathtub with bubbles and water. After setting it up he walked to the room to see in her in the same position. He took her undergarments' off before carrying her to the bathtub and placing her in. He bathed her as she stood at the wall.
“(Y/N), baby. Look at me.” They heard the people coming in making her jump as he grabbed her. “(Y/N), it’s just the people here to clean up the mess.” he comforted her as she relaxed some more. He grabbed her make up towel, putting on some of the makeup removal solution she has and rubber the makeup off her face.
About an hour later, she was in the bed as Erik was out in the hallway talking to the people. “Aye, thanks man. I owe you.” he heard Erik say.
“No worries. We gonna cremate the body and throw the ashes somewhere along the river downtown. So don’t worry about it, okay?” he heard a voice say. After a few more minutes before he came back into the room, as she laid in the bed.
“Hey, I’m gonna go. I’ma give you some space.” she heard him say. She sat up before looking at him.
“Can you, can you stay please?” she asked him as he nodded. He stripped from his clothes getting into the bed with her. He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her closer, tracing her arms.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked her.
“No.. I don’t.”
“Fair enough.”

The Last Pan of Dressing
Dressing is my favorite food group. No, it’s not the same as “stuffing.” All black women and rural Southern white women know how to make it — everyone else just attempts it.
Consistency-wise, it should be like finely crumbled cornbread (not shredded loaf bread) near-soupy in chicken or turkey juice, with chopped onions and egg-whites and tiny chunks of chicken or turkey. I like to put it in a bowl and pour milk over it and get it piping hot in the microwave.
The four main grocery chains in my area are Walmart, Kroger, Publix, and Ingles.
That’s in the order of the most-used to the least-used.
It’s not surprising that Ingles is more popular among conservative evangelicals. It’s headquartered in 85% white Asheville and proudly emblazons “AMERICAN OWNED” over every door of every store.
Because the South is genteel and religious, a lot of things are spoken in code. By now everyone knows “Let’s Go Brandon” is code for “Fuck Joe Biden.” This one came about accidentally as the NASCAR audience was chanting “Fuck Joe Biden” and a NASCAR official tried to cover for it by claiming they were actually saying “Let’s Go Brandon” in reference to a NASCAR driver named Brandon.
When President Biden held a mass phone call with kids who called in to find out the progress of Santa’s trip, the father of one child yelled, Let’s Go Brandon” on the group call and is now trying to parlay his newfound stardom among evangelicals into a run for political office.
Evangelicals would never cuss but they will substitute-cuss and giggle like a third-grader who just got away with eating a booger.
What a lot of people don’t know is “Fuck Joe Biden” was ALREADY code. Do you think Confederate-evangelicals really hate an old white man? Of course not.
“Fuck Joe Biden” stands for many things: *Jews will not replace us; *We need to ship all the foreigners back home; *I’m tired of my hard-earned white money being stolen from me to support black people who won’t work.
There are other codes among white people in the South. “That area has gotten really bad” means black people have moved in. “Don’t go through that area after dark; you’d be in a mess if you had a flat tire” refers to a black neighborhood. “That store has really gone down” means a lot of black people are now shopping there.
I love dressing. My second favorite food group is Brunswick stew, another dish that can’t be replicated outside the South.
But dressing is my favorite. My Granny Omie used to make the best there was when I was a kid. My former mother-in-law actually beat that during the happiest 20 years of my life. She would often make a second pan just for me to take home after the big family gatherings on Easter and Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I understand the trauma of someone beating me to the last pan of dressing. I really do.
But this was not about dressing.
This was code for something much bigger and deeper.
One of my old classmates from my high school recently posted this: “The Carrollton Ingles needs to overhaul and revamp their Customer Service in the Deli Department (possibly replace a few employees) and the so called Non-Caring Manager needs to be replaced ASAP. I had an experience about a month ago. Went to get a few plates of dressing on a Sunday afternoon. I was told the pan of dressing was the last one they had and a fellow of color wanted some at the same time. I asked the lady to make sure I got mine first because I was ahead of him. Well after scraping the sides of the pan in order to get me 2 plates, low and behold they brought out a fresh pan of dressing for him. My damn BP went through the roof but I kept my mouth shut until I got to the counter to pay and then I brought up what happened. They said they would adjust the bill but I went ahead and paid for it. About 45 minutes ago I went out there one more time after work to get a couple of plates for me and my mother. I just had got to the Deli and looking at what choices I had. At that point, no Deli employ recognized that I was around. About that time a man of color walked between me and the Deli counter as though I wasn’t even around. The woman of color turned around to help the man of color and didn’t say a word to me. BP boiling once again. Luckily I kept my mouth shut not to embarrass anyone and went to find the pot-bellied store manager who expressed no concern whatsoever. Last time dealing with this disgusting place. Piss poor customer service in the Deli and very piss poor response from the manager. I just don’t and won’t get it.”
I’ll give you a minute.
Jesus.
And bear in mind, neither the hand that wrote this or all the eyes that read it have any idea that there is anything at all wrong with what was said here.         He even thought he was accommodating the latest politically-correct jargon by saying “man of color;” as proud of himself as a third grader eating a booger. Brother, if you’re now reading this, “of color” encompasses black people, Latinos, Native Americans, Asians, and anyone else who is non-white — the term you were looking for is “black.”
Notice he wasn’t at all empathetic over the thought of the black man not getting ANY dressing. And he was just fine with his own dressing being scrapings from the sides of the pan, AS LONG AS he thought those scrapings were the very last of the dressing and he “got his first” and the black man didn’t get any.
He was only upset when a fresh pan was located and his “me first” greed had already filled his own plate with sub-par scrapings.
His blood pressure was boiling because the black man had ended up with the better dressing that he, in his whiteness, felt HE deserved.
I can say, with no doubt whatsoever, if I had been in his shoes and knew the black man beside me wanted dressing too, I would have turned to him and said, “you wanna split what’s left?” and then told the Deli clerk to give each of us a plate of the scrapings, instead of me getting two plates of scrapings and him getting none.
And in this particular case, I would have been rewarded by the discovery of a fresh pan of dressing, so I and the black man would have both received one plate of scrapings and one plate of fresh dressing.
I do that sort of thing all the time. The Golden Corral buffet I go to almost nightly has about a 90% black customer base. If I am at the bar dipping food onto my plate, there is usually a black person behind me waiting for the ladle.
I love fried chicken, especially dark meat, especially legs. If I’m at the chicken tray and I see some black children behind me, I will skip over the legs I really want and get a thigh because I have, many times, heard parents explaining to disappointed children that there are no more legs.
Yesterday I went by Golden Corral and made three to-go New Year’s Day plates to take to my parents. We had black-eyed peas, turnip greens, chicken livers, cornbread and raw purple onions.
But a similar thing happened. There were three pieces of cornbread on the bar. I needed all three. But a black woman was behind me, so I only got two and left the third. I was rewarded by the man behind the counter asking if I needed more. He brought out a fresh cake of cornbread, sliced it like pizza and drizzled clarified butter on it.
I’ve gone to that Ingles in Carrollton twice since I read that post. First times I had ever been in the store.
It was clean and well-lit and items arranged immaculately on the shelves.
And in despair I bowed my head "There is no peace on earth," I said For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on earth, good will to men.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote these words when his son was terribly injured fighting for the North in the Civil War.
This is what caused the Civil War.
This is what caused the Confederacy to rise again beginning with the election of Barack Obama.
This is what led to the election of Trump.
This is what led to the Insurrection a year ago.
Hate.
It both defines and mocks evangelicalism.
It’s right in front of us, in black and white.
The Great White Fear is “the blacks are taking over.”
EVERYTHING else, is in some way related to that fear.
All the way down to the last pan of dressing.

Here it is! This is part 1 of Heaven! It’s based loosely on (and uses lyrics from) Heaven by Julia Michaels.
Rating: M for Mature. There’s violence, mentions of blood, reader gets in a pretty sticky situation with a guy who won’t take no for an answer and gets injured but nothing more. Also, mentions of a gun. Next part will be E for Explicit for NSFW stuff 😘

Working at Lennox House as a bartender was no easy task. The men couldn't keep their hands to themselves and catcalled often, every night was busy, and just the sheer nature of the business turned your stomach. But a job was a job and at least you weren't one of the call girls. You had to give a portion of your tips to the club, but you still always made out with plenty of money. A smart move would be to set aside as much as you could and find a new job when you had a good savings, but there was something about Lennox House… something that called to the darker part of you.
You knew what, or rather who, it was that kept you there, but you buried that knowledge deep within you.
Late one evening, or really, very early one morning, you were cleaning up the bar following the show. The club was empty, all patrons long gone for the night and the other workers off to bed. Thinking yourself alone, you sang aloud to make the time pass faster. Little did you know, someone was awake and upon hearing you, mosied his way into the theatre to listen. Blue leaned against the wall in the shadows, watching as you wiped down the bar.
All wrapped in one he was so many sins
Would have done anything, everything for him
And if you ask me I would do it again
You sang well, your voice projecting through the open area of the house. It surprised Blue. You were a spitfire, always had been, and it was one of the reasons he hired you as a bartender. You could keep the patrons in check without involving the guards most of the time and were a damn good bartender. But hearing you sing so sweetly made him want you. Licking his lips, he opened his mouth to interject but stopped at the next lyrics that tumbled out of your mouth.
They say, "All good boys go to heaven"
But bad boys bring heaven to you
"Do you want heaven brought to you, Scotch?" He took pleasure in the way you jumped, looking around wildly before your eyes settled on him as he walked towards you. Still in his silk suit, hands in his pockets, he looked exquisite in the darkness of the empty club. You found yourself looking him over appreciatively before you remembered he had asked you a question.
"I'm sorry, sir. What did you ask me?" You watched as Blue smirked, finally reaching the bar. He leaned easily on it and let his eyes roam over you with no shame.
"I asked… if you wanted heaven brought to you, Scotch?" He purred and you felt your breath catch.
Blue was gorgeous. There was no doubt about that. You would also bet all of your tips from that night that he would give it to you good. But the real question was could you lay with a man like him? One who only cared for his money? Who beat and even killed people? Your body might be okay with it, but your mind was still very much in control. With a soft sigh, you pulled yourself away from him and grabbed your bag from under the bar.
"Maybe I would but my mama raised me to know better than to deal with bad men, Mr. Jones." The man merely chuckled, watching you.
"If that were the case, you wouldn't be workin for one, sugar." The pet name rolled off his tongue and you had to suppress a shiver.
"Ah, but here's the difference, Mr. Jones. It's one thing to work for a bad man… and another thing entirely to trust him." Blue feigned a hurt look at your words but before he could say anything, you were moving towards the exit. "Have a good rest of your night, Mr. Jones."
You left Lennox House that night with your shoulders squared and head held high. You wouldn't show Blue the effect he had on you.
But oh, did he have an effect on you.
~
Over the next week, you barely see Blue. Not unusual but a part of you wishes to see him more. Ever since the night he propositioned you, you can’t help but to wonder what it would be like. To touch him, kiss him, taste him… You shake your head hard to clear your thoughts and get a few strange looks from the patrons at the bar. You just flash them a flirty smile and they let it go, already uncaring that you might be a little crazy. The club was extra busy that night and the men cared more about being served than they did about you. Or so you had assumed until the end of the night when a man approached you, a creepy and salacious grin as his face. Your skin immediately crawled at the sight, and you made sure to stay behind the bar.
“Hey, sweet thing. Blue says you’re s‘posed to come with me tonight.” He slurred his words hard and was clearly drunk off his ass, but his words had you narrowing your eyes angrily. Blue and you had made an agreement when you took this job. You were not to be bartered to the men.
“Yeah, that’s bullshit. If you’d kindly leave, I’d appreciate it. Don’t make me call the guards.” This seemed to only anger the man who rounded the bar before you could get out and backed you against the back counter. You tried not to gag at the alcohol on his breath and made a mental note to pay more attention to how much customers were drinking.
“You think you’re sooo fucking special, don’t you?” He reached for you, grabbing your arms painfully tight. You fought against him, bringing your knee up into his crotch and punching him hard when he released you. You shoved past him and made a break for it.
“HEL-” Your call gets cut off by a cry of pain as the man caught up to you and yanked you by your hair.
“You BITCH!” He yelled before turning and throwing you back to the bar. You stumbled hard, trying to catch yourself on the shelving only for it to come tumbling down on you and sending you and the bottles to the floor. Glass shatters everywhere and you cry out again as several pieces slice open your skin.
“What the FUCK is goin’ on here?!” You gasp at Blue’s voice and hear the man start to stutter out some kind of explanation. You manage to shakily stand, looking at Blue with wide, wet eyes.
“This asshole… said you told him I was supposed to go with him and I told him no.” Blue’s eyes darken even more in anger and he growls.
“Scotch, come here.” You step around the glass as best as possible and over to Blue. You’re immediately shocked as he pulls you to stand behind him and reaches into his jacket, pulling out his gun.
“Get. Out.” Blue growls. “Get out before I blow your brains out over the fucking floor. And don’t think for a fucking second that you aren’t gonna pay for all of this.”
The man watched Blue with wide eyes before scurrying off, disappearing out of the main area. As soon as he was gone, Blue turned to look at you. You were staring off after the guy with terrified eyes and you didn’t realize you were shaking until Blue carefully set a hand on your shoulder.
“Scotch. Look at me.” Your eyes snapped up to his and you blinked up at him. “You’re safe now. He can’t hurt you anymore, okay? Let’s go get you cleaned up, sugar.”
You let him lead you out of the auditorium, passed all of the rooms, even his office. When he finally stopped in front of a door, it was one you didn’t recognize. He pulled a key from his jacket pocket and opened it, leading the two of you into a bedroom. Blue carefully leads you into the ensuite bathroom and helps you to sit on the counter. He kneels down and roots through the cabinet, pulling out a first aid kit. You can’t help but to raise an eyebrow before laughing. It’s a little hysterical but Blue looks at you in amusement.
“What? Can’t I keep a first aid kit in my bathroom?” He asks, smirking.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, I think I’m just finally losing it.” You giggle and he chuckles softly, setting the kit on the counter beside you. He opens it and begins looking through it, pulling out some gauze pads and alcohol. Your laughter dies down as you realize he’s fixing to use those on you.
“Since the glass was technically already in alcohol, can we just forego that step?” You try. The look Blue shoots you is thoroughly unamused and you sigh, accepting your fate. Blue is surprisingly thorough and cleans each of your cuts. Some of them require bandages but none of them are deep enough to need stitches. When he finally finishes, you’re exhausted and all you want to do is sleep. As Blue works on cleaning up the mess you two made, you lean against the wall and close your eyes. You don’t even realize you’ve dozed off until Blue sets a hand on your leg and you startle awake.
“Sorry. I should get out of your hair. Thank you for helping me, Blue. I mean it.” You look up at him from where he’s moved in front of you. He’s biting his lip and seems to be thinking something over. He seems to come to a conclusion when he steps closer to you, placing his hands down on either side of you.
“Stay here tonight.” Your eyebrows shoot up and you look at him in shock.
“What?”
“Stay here. I’d feel better if you didn’t walk home tonight. You can have my bed, I can sleep in my office.”
“I- Blue, I can’t do that. I can’t kick you out of your bed. I can walk hom-
“Scotch, please.” Now you’re really shocked, mouth dropping open as you look at him. He hesitates for a moment before leaning forward and letting his forehead drop onto your shoulder.
“Please stay. Nothing has to happen. Like I said, I’ll even sleep in my office-”
“Okay. But I’m not kicking you out of your bed. I saw it on the way in, it’s big enough for us to share.” You bite your lip, gently squeezing his upper arm. “If that’s okay with you, that is.”
Blue stays where he is for a couple more moments before straightening up and nodding to you. He helps you down from the counter and leads you back into his room.
“Do you wanna borrow something to sleep in?” He asks, scratching the back of his neck.
“Uh, yeah. Please” You scrunch your nose up, suddenly realizing your clothes have blood on them. “I don’t want to get blood in your bed.”
“Thanks for that.” Blue chuckles, digging through a couple drawers before handing you a shirt and some sweatpants. You duck back into the bathroom and change, the clothes not quite fitting right but well enough to sleep in. You pad back into the room to find Blue already laying in bed and walk over to turn the light off. You take a deep breath before laying down next to him. The both of you are as close to your respective edges of the bed as possible, trying to give the other the space you think they need.
“Thank you. Again. For everything.” You murmur. You hear Blue shift and something about it helps you settle down yourself.
“You don’t have to keep thankin’ me, Scotch. But you’re welcome. Goodnight, sugar.”
“Goodnight, Blue.”
The two of you manage to slowly drift off, shifting throughout the night until Blue is curled around you, holding you close to him.

What about an Akechi/Joker role swap AU where Akechi is still the detective prince and Joker is still the Shujin delinquent, but the major difference is that Morgana never lost his memories and found Akechi before he approached Shido with his metaverse assassination plot?
Like, imagine Akechi, bitter and jaded, who has just awakened Loki and felt the terrifying and thrilling rush of the berserk power. He's formed a plan to get back at his piece of shit father, even managed to set up a meeting, which he had to set up months in advance, and on the day he's going to present Shido with info on the metaverse, he winds up arriving a few minutes late, because even though he intended to be early, he was accosted by a talking cat (he's been in the metaverse, so he can hear him) on the way over, and in the whole wtf-ery of the moment, lost track of time. Shido, being Shido, refuses to see him and will not reschedule because he doesn't like having his time wasted.
Pissed off, Akechi leaves to find Morgana still waiting for him outside. So he doesn't look like an idiot yelling at a cat on the street, he brings Morgana back to his shitty apartment, where Morgana explains why he had found Akechi and whats up. He doesn't know about Yaldobaoth taking Igor's place, he just knows there's two champions, and Akechi was the one he found first, so he must be Igor's chosen champion. (It is my theory that it doesn't actually matter who was Igor's and Yaldobaoth's champions, it was more about the choices they each made and where they ended up.)
Akechi has no interest in saving the world, but he knows that if he wants to get back at Shido, he needs to become someone of consequence, so he agrees to undergo Morgana's training, since Morgana clearly knows more about the metaverse than he does, and he can use it to solve cold cases, earning him a place as the Detective Prince. He changes a few hearts, to pacify Morgana, too. It takes a couple years, but during his senior year in high school, he makes it, earning himself the cooperation of the police and the spotlight of the public eye. He's getting so close to making Shido notice him that he can practically taste it. Also, what’s this ‘velvet room’ he keeps dreaming about?
Then Morgana finds Kamoshida’s palace and is like ‘heyo, you thought changing hearts in the metaverse was cool, check this shit out’ and Akechi is admittedly intrigued , so he takes a look. He sees the inside of Kamoshida’s heart and is appropriately disgusted and says to Morgana, ‘hey we should totally kill this guy’s shadow.’ Morgana’s like ‘why is your first suggestion always murder, we don’t know what would happen if we killed his shadow, Igor wasn’t very clear about that bit, we should try stealing the treasure instead’ and Morgana has been useful (and it’s been really nice to have the company these past two years, though he won’t admit that) so Akechi agrees ‘fine, we’ll steal the treasure, but if that doesn’t work, then I’m killing his shadow.’
And that’s when Ryuji and Ann make an appearance (’ohmigawd, goro, be more careful with that damn app, i s2g.’) Ryuji’s mom apparently thinks Akechi is pretty neat and watches all his interviews, so Ryuji knows who he is and is delighted to find out that the lame-ass detective his mom has talked about is actually a grumpy badass in the metaverse, with this shadow that has some kind of insane power, and hey, he helped them bring down Kamoshida (alive,) so maybe he is actually pretty cool, even though sometimes he spaces out and talks about evil twins and some longed-nose dude. He decides then and there that he’s going to be Akechi’s best friend, since he apparently has none, and Ann is all too happy to join in for the ride, and all of Goro’s protests have fallen on deaf ears, and they know about the whole detective prince thing being a facade, so he might as well indulge them for now.
The ‘Phantom Thieves’ (a name that makes Goro want to roll his eyes whenever he hears it, and why is everyone calling him ‘leader?’) gain fame and change hearts, gaining new members such as this weird-ass artist dude who fights with ice, and oh, god, one Nijima is bad enough, don’t tell me there’s two! and she uses nukes, wtf?!
Around this time, he also meets Shujin’s delinquent, enigmatic transfer student whose talk of hope and justice never quite seem to reflect in his stormy grey eyes, and he and Goro are clearly birds of a feather in a way, he can tell, there’s just something about him, and he thinks this guy might actually be his best friend, but don’t tell Ryuji that, he’d never hear the end of it.
Akechi learns the truth behind Akira’s arrest and Shido’s involvement and he is disgusted to find that he genuinely wants to help this guy, and he can’t do that if Shido’s dead, maybe he doesn’t want his revenge as badly as he thought??? Oh, ew, I have feelings that aren’t anger and it’s all my friends’ fault, I can’t just leave them and go off to get revenge, they’d literally die without me, those lovable idiots. Also, when Ryuji saw his home, he pretty much insisted he stay with him instead, and Ryuji’s mom reminds him of the good times he had with his own mother, and he honestly doesn’t think he has the strength to disappoint her like that. So, he decides to change Shido’s heart, but he knows that there’s no way that this little group of miscreants is strong enough to take on the fucked up bullshit that he’s seen in Shido’s heart, so let’s hit pause on that for now.
Shido had Wakaba killed via completely non-supernatural ways and stole her research, same as before, so Futaba still has a palace. He found out Akira worked at Leblanc a while ago and started dropping by, and then somehow Ryuji found out about it, and now all the Phantom Thieves know, so much for a peaceful place to get away, but he actually doesn’t mind that much, and Akira lets Akechi keep an eye on the shop when there are no customers so he can go out and do errands and Boss doesn’t mind, so they’ve ended up hanging out there as a group from time to time and talking Phantom Thief business, so Futaba knows who they are, and asks for their help.
Okumura’s palace pretty much goes the same, Okumura dies somehow, are we responsible, why does murder actually make me feel kinda bad, stupid friends and their stupid good influence.
Goro attends the Shujin student fair as guest speaker, whoa, the class president being friends with Akechi does have its perks, doesn’t it? Akira finds them all there together and approaches them, tells them he saw them go into the metaverse, awakened his own persona, and saw a guy in a black mask kill Okumura’s shadow, hey why don’t I join you, you probably need all the help you can get, who’s heart are we stealing next, how about Sae, she knows my probabtion officer and has been giving me hell, plus I already checked, she definitely has a palace.
They agree, and oh, hey, Akira can hear Morgana talk now, but WAIT A MINUTE?! Didn’t he hear Morgana talk before when he told Goro that Leblanc didn’t sell sushi, even though Goro hadn’t asked for any?
They hack Akira’s phone, learn that Shido (Akechi recognizes that voice) will have thugs waiting to capture them when they leave the palace. They plan around it, pull the metaverse switch and manage to sneak a heavily drugged Akechi out of the warehouse Shido stashed him in by traveling through the metaverse. Shido’s lackey’s have written a fake suicide letter from the leader of the Phantom thieves, and the chief of police, under Shido’s orders, delivers a statement confirming its authenticity, and look the plan succeeded. All they need to do know is take down Shido.
Things are going great, until they get to the engine room, where Joker, having realized what happened, is waiting for them. Joker, who lost everything after he transferred, who discovered the metaverse completely alone, who didn’t mean to kill that guy’s shadow, but he attacked him first, and Shido had somehow known, had been keeping an eye on him, had him convicted for a crime that he didn’t commit in the hopes that he would break because he needed an agent in the metaverse, and so far he’s had no luck. Joker, who had nothing left to lose and had accepted the only hand that had reached out for him.
They fight, and when it looks like things are going badly for Joker, he pulls out... a second persona?!?! At least, it looks like a persona, but something about it is off. it looks familiar somehow. And then Akira asks if they knew it was possible to fuse personas and Akechi realizes what he’s looking at. These aren’t the clean executions that Caroline and Justine perform, these are personas that have been ripped apart and haphazardly thrown back together with no thought to form or elegance, look, there’s a Yaksini’s arm, and that bit right there clearly used to belong to a Rangda, and I think that piece might have belonged to a Seiryu, and Akechi should stop listing personas now because Ann thinks she’s going to be sick.
They keep fighting. Joker can’t understand the difference in power between them. After all, aren’t they the same? Unloved, unwanted, soldiers pitted against each other by some bullshit higher power?
When Joker shoots the bulkhead door closed and Futaba reports that she’s lost Joker’s reading, Akechi vows then and there that he’s going to kill Shido after all. And he almost does. He stands there, with his gun pressed to the head of the shadow of his father, his friends can’t blame him, and even Morgana knows better than to try and stop him. But he doesn’t. He remembers Akira’s madness there at the end, and wonders what he would have become of him if it weren’t for Ryuji, who somewhere along the way, he’d realized he’d stopped tolerating and started actually liking. Ann, who shared his woes about being in the public eye and swapped tips with him about how to handle the press. Yusuke, who, although he was still completely bizarre to him, appreciated the beauty in life and didn’t tease Goro for his taste in Grandpa clothes. Makoto, who knew the importance of hard work and who, between herself and her sister, had caused Goro to pick up some healthier coping mechanisms. Futaba, who made fun of him for his food blog, but liked the same nerd bullshit that he did and would bombard him with memes until his day somehow became a little less shittier. Haru, who dreamed of starting her own business and actually cared about Goro’s opinions, and could threaten someone with a smile in a way that even Goro was jealous of. And Morganna, who had reminded him what it was like to not be lonely, and demanded more sushi than he could afford, but always made sure Goro ate his fill, instead of getting so focused on his work that he forgot.
Akechi guesses that he must have turned soft somewhere during the past several months, but after seeing what happened to Akira, he can’t help but be grateful, knowing with certainty that if things had turned out differently, that would have been him. Hey, Morgana, you know that world-saving bs you talked about two years ago? Let’s leave this piece of shit here to rot and focus our attention on that instead.
And you guys know the rest.
Or, at least, that’s how I thought it would go. Feel free to share your thoughts. :)

“Nothing to see here,” you muttered and scooted across the café as quickly as you could, heading for the sanctuary of your office.
Closing the door firmly behind you and heading straight to your fancy CEO swivel chair, you sat down and shakily placed your hands flat on the desk. You took some deep breaths. That stupid big idiot and his BDE! How dare he kiss you like that in front of everyone.
And even worse, leaving you all hot and flustered like some kid who’s never been kissed before! Let’s be honest, that’s what was really getting to you... he hadn’t actually bent you over the counter and fucked you, but by your reaction he might as well have.
How ridiculous, you told yourself sternly, get a grip! You put your forehead on the desk’s cool surface. They’d all been staring at you, and you could feel your face heating up again at the thought of them watching Billy kiss you really quite passionately. And you melting like a complete fool in the process.
After a couple of hours hiding out in your office, you knew you’d have to face the music sooner or later and made your way back down to the café. The regulars, you saw, had gone by now so that was something but by the mischievous looks on your co-workers’ faces, you knew you were in for some serious teasing.
You made your way over to one of the two monster Gaggia coffee machines in the café and started making yourself a cappuccino. “Anyone want one?” you asked over your shoulder. Jake said he’d have one too, but the other two passed. You could just feel their curiosity crackling through the air like electricity. They were of course fully aware of the Ex and that whole daytime soap plot, but were just about losing their shit as they didn’t know anything about this hot dude, who’d walked in to the café and kissed you like he knew you extremely well.
You handed Jake his coffee and helped yourself to a danish cinnamon pastry - yeah, eating the profits again - munching into it and then pointing at your staff members with it. “Okay, guys. Here it is. In its entirety. I went to little cousin’s cocktail party last night as you know, and met the guy who was in here earlier. We left the party, went for a couple of drinks elsewhere, he drove me home, I got out of his car and he drove away. Like, immediately I got out.”
You really didn’t feel the need to mention the kiss he’d stolen before you got out of his car.
Gabrielle’s mouth fell open, “You met him last night???” The implication being that A) how was that possible and B) where did that kiss come from if you hadn’t slept with him? You sighed, taking another bite of pastry. “Yes! And as I’ve just told you,” you looked around to make sure there weren’t any customers in earshot, “he did not stay the night, okay? He didn’t even get out of his car.”
“It’s just that it looked a bit ...” Steve trailed off nervously. “Well...umm... friendly... for someone you’ve only just met,” finished Jake. You nodded. “I’m aware of that. What you saw there was the Billy Russo Show, done purely to embarrass me. He’s a cocky big shit. And trying to get me to go out with him.” “Are you going to?” asked Gabrielle. “Oh, hell yes! Wouldn’t you?” Jake almost got whiplash, he nodded so emphatically, “Yes. Yes, I would.” You all had a good laugh at that.

There were only 2 days to go until Friday, and you found yourself panicking. What to wear, what to wear? OK, after mentally reviewing your wardrobe you decided that a shopping trip was in order.
Hanging up your new purchase in the wardrobe, you felt pleased with your choice. Nothing too flashy - you weren’t sure of the venue, so went with smart/casual - a sleek navy number, wraparound style, mid-thigh length and showing only a hint of cleavage. Less is more right?
Teamed with a pair of metallic navy heels, it would be fine. You hoped. What if he was taking you somewhere really low-key? Oh well, you shrugged, if you ended up looking a bit like Cinders at the ball in some local pizzeria, so be it.
Jake and the others were still buzzing about your upcoming date, in fact you’d eventually asked them if they wanted to come along too. They’d at least had the decency to look guilty, but only a little. You were sure that if they found out where you two were headed, they’d follow you. You decided you’d better check for shadowy figures tailing you on Friday night.
»»————————————-———- ⚜ ———————————-————-««
8pm on the dot, the buzzer sounded in your apartment, Billy’s voice announcing that he was downstairs. You were not quite ready, still had a couple of tweaks to make so buzzed him up. He strolled in as you opened the door, leaning in for a kiss to which you turned your head, so it landed on your cheek. “Lipstick!” you trilled, moving back towards the bathroom. “I won’t be long, have a seat. You’re looking good, Russo, by the way.” “Thanks,” you heard his voice from the other room, “and you’re looking absolutely gorgeous, sweetheart.”
You’d felt happier when you saw that he was also smart/casual.... what looked like a cashmere burgundy sweater over black jeans, with a leather jacket. He looked edible.
When you emerged back into the living room five minutes later - a veritable vision in navy, you mockingly smirked to yourself - Billy Russo was nowhere in sight. You stopped in your tracks, and then heard a drawer opening in your bedroom. You walked through to it, just in time to see Billy picking up a pair of your lacy silk panties out of your underwear drawer.
“Russo!” you yelled, “put those back, you perv!” He slid the smooth fabric between his long fingers, grinning devilishly at you. “Mmmmm, are you wearin’ something similar right now?” Before you could stop yourself, you bit back, “Who says I’m wearing any at all?” His eyes widened, a big grin appearing on his face. “Oh, really? Wanna prove it?” “No!” you replied, knowing your face was scarlet, “just forget I said that. I’m joking with you.” He shook his head, “Yeah, like I’m goin’ to get that image out of my head anytime soon.”
“Let’s go, Billy,” you said, walking to the front door and pulling on your own leather jacket. “Hey, we’re matching,” he laughed, pointing between your jacket and his, “ain’t that sweet!” “It’s creepy, actually. Matching clothes? Vomit-inducing.” He laughed, “You’re funny.” “No, I’m just not some soppy sappy woman who’s going to fall at your feet, Russo.” He took your hand as you closed and locked your front door, and the two of you headed for the stairs.
“Yeah, I’d kinda got that vibe already,” he grinned at you, “but it doesn’t matter, I know I’m gonna get you in the end.” “Just keep on telling yourself that,” you snarked back.
Looking at the back of his head as he walked down the stairs in front of you, you really wanted to run your fingers through that hair but managed to keep your hands to yourself.
Fastening your seat belt, back in the gleaming Wraith, you watched Billy’s fingers as he fastened his and then placed his hands on the steering wheel. You mentally shook yourself, you were beginning to fantasise about different parts of his body and you’d better snap out of it, you told yourself.
»»————————————-———- ⚜ ———————————-————-««
He took you to a really nice Italian restaurant, not too posh, just nice and relaxed with friendly staff and really good food. The conversation from the night in the bar was picked up where it left off, each of you adding more and varied information. You learned that Frank had sadly lost his wife and kids when they innocently got caught up in a savage gang war gun battle. Billy told you that his friend had gone off the rails for a while, but had recently met a lovely lady called Karen and they’d started dating. He was really pleased for him, as he’d been so worried about him for a while. You thought you’d quite like to meet Frank sometime.
You told him something more of your life, thankfully not involving assault and cheating ex-boyfriends this time. He’d been fascinated and truly appreciative of the struggle you’d had to get your business off the ground, saying that he’d been lucky in having a major investor lined up before he’d even left the Marines.
You saw a dark look flit over his face for a moment, but then it cleared and he went on to ask you more questions about your business. You’d both chatted easily together until it was almost midnight, and you’d become “that couple” who were the last ones in the restaurant. You realised that, when he dropped the ‘Billy Big Dick’ nonsense, you really enjoyed his company and felt that you two had clicked even more this evening.
He drove away from the restaurant, and it took you a few minutes to notice that he wasn’t driving the route to your apartment. “Billy,” you sighed, “are we heading to your place by any chance?” That damn smirk was back on his face. “Yeah,” he said, “I’ve seen yours, so now you can see mine.” ”Oh, ha bloody ha. I’m not sleeping with you, you know.” A grin appeared on his lips as you glanced across at his profile, illuminated by each passing streetlight. “Just keep on tellin’ yourself that, sweetheart,” he replied mockingly. You laughed out loud, “You cheeky big bastard.”
»»————————————-———- ⚜ ———————————-————-««
His apartment was everything you would’ve expected - open plan, with modern, sleek furnishings and decor in dark masculine colours. You settled yourself onto the large sofa, and he headed to the kitchen area; a moment later, you heard wine being poured then his tall figure reappeared, holding the two wine glasses. He handed one to you, and you took a sip - it was very good wine. “So, Billy... I’m guessing your li’l batchelor pad here sees quite a lot of action, and not the type you saw in the Marines, huh?”
That smirk. He sat down next to you, hand going to rest on your shoulder and playing with a strand of your hair. His expression became serious, “No. I don’t bring women back here.”
You scoffed, “Oh come on, Billy... you’re...” then you stopped, looking away from him. “I’m what?” You shook your head. “C’mon, what were you going to say?” “Never mind. Well, if you don’t bring them here, let me guess... you go to their place and disappear before the morning light?” He shifted uncomfortably on the sofa, breaking eye contact with you. “Okay... that, I can’t deny. How did you guess? And what were you going to say before?”
Oh to hell with it, you thought.
“I was going to say... you’re hot, Billy. So obviously - unless you’ve got a problem down there and need some little blue pills...” his eyebrows rose, his mouth dropping open slightly before he started grinning, “...you won’t be a saint and you’re more than likely a player.”
He leaned in towards you, eyes staring deep into yours, “Firstly, I have no problems with my equipment in any way shape or form,” ....smirk... “it’s in perfect workin’ order. And I’d be more than happy to prove that to you.” His lips met yours in a kiss, quickly growing heated. He pulled away, making eye contact again, “And you’re right, I’m no saint. A player? Yeah, maybe. But I can be a saint for you, if you want me to be.”
“But that wouldn’t be the real Billy Russo, would it?” His eyes were still on you. You carried on, “Look, I’ll level with you. I like you - when you’re not wearing your BDE persona. It’s a total clichè, but I really don’t intend to be just another notch on your no-doubt designer bedframe.”
He smiled at you, “I get it, I really do.” He trailed a finger along your cheekbone, “I wouldn’t be tryin’ to be someone I’m not. I just meant that I like you too, and I feel comfortable dropping the persona with you.” You smiled back. “OK, but Billy?” “Yeah?” “I’m still not sleeping with you.”
Laughing, “Oh, yeah?” pulling you against his chest, a hand going to your cheek as he kissed you long and hard. Breaking away, hand on his chest, you whispered, “Yeah...”
»»————————————-———- ⚜ ———————————-————-««
Billy was poised above you, looking down at you as if you were something he wanted to devour. Your clothes had joined his on the bedroom floor a little while ago; you were both lying on his very large bed, and yes it was designer-made - you’d asked him.
He gently pushed aside a strand of your hair, before kissing your lips. His mouth then made its way slowly but surely down to your neck and collarbone, and you felt little nips on your skin before his tongue licked your skin slowly. He moved slightly lower and sucked your nipples while his hands were busy massaging your breasts. Your hands moved to his broad shoulders, pulling him down further so you could feel more of his skin against yours.
You heard a chuckle, “So yeah, I guess you really aren’t gonna sleep with me after all, huh?” You shifted out slightly from under his body, “Shut up Billy, and put this to good use,” letting your fingers trail down to his hard length. You slid your fingers around it and gave his tip a firm squeeze. His breath hissed between his lips, and those big hands pulled you back underneath him. “Don’t worry, I was gonna.” You smirked, “I confess I was impressed when I saw what you were packing,” another squeeze, another hiss, his mouth on your neck, “but actions speak louder than words.”
He laughed, “Be careful what you wish for, sweetheart.” Deciding to head for the mother lode, you gave him one last squeeze, firmer than before, sniggering as his hips shot forward. “Same to you,” you said, before sliding your hands into his silky hair at last. Running your fingers right back through it, you sighed out loud and grabbed a handful with each of yours, and tugged. “I see you like my hair,” he smirked.
You leant forward and kissed him, hard. He groaned, kissing you back even harder. Then your hands ran over the muscles of his chest, down the trail of hairs on his lower stomach, before grabbing his cock and wrapping your fingers round it. He growled, “And what ya gonna do with that, sweetheart?” You began stroking him firmly, “This.... until you decide to get off your ass and do something.”
He laughed out loud, and suddenly his hand was between your legs, his thumb on your clit, rubbing hard. His lips at your ear, whispering, “Something like this?” and you felt a long finger plunging into you, swiftly joined by a second one. He began sliding them in and out, curling them, and it had an instant effect on you, your breath hitching. “Billy,” you sighed, your hand stilling momentarily on his length. You heard his low chuckle, and he increased his pace. Okay smartass, you thought, and gave his tip a very firm squeeze. “Aahhh!” you heard, and gave him another one for good measure. “You minx,” he laughed, then picked up pace with his fingers again. Then they were gone from you, and you saw him moving his head downwards, hands moving to your hips, his tongue replacing his fingers. He was lapping at you, his thumb back on your clit, and now you really were in trouble.
You grabbed his shoulders, digging your nails in, beginning to writhe on the bed, and then his fingers were back, sliding in next to his tongue. The combination of thumb, tongue and fingers was like an incendiary bomb going off in your core, and you could feel your climax building by the second. His pace increased and that was it, the explosion happened and you now grabbed his head like a vice, keeping him where he was as the aftershocks of your orgasm washed over you in waves. Very pleasurable waves. Finally, you released his head and you saw his dark eyes meet yours, a satisfied glint in them. “That was only number one, angel,” he grinned, “fasten your seat belt.” “Cocky bastard. And I’m an angel now, am I?” He moved up and back over you, hands sliding up your body.
“For sure,” kissing your neck, nipping the skin lightly with his teeth. “And I’m so lucky, havin’ one in my bed.” He sat up, opening a drawer in his bedside table, scrabbling around until he produced a condom, unwrapping it and holding your gaze as he rolled it on.
His hands moved to your breasts, palming them then circling his thumbs over your nipples as they peaked once again. You grabbed that hair of his again, little gasps making their way between your lips. Your feet were flat on the mattress, knees either side of his thighs and you felt his hand moving down, then the head of his cock was between your legs, edging its way in. Billy thrust right inside you, and there were loud groans from you both as he sunk in. “Mmmm...” he kissed you, tongue diving into your mouth, then he pulled away, gazing at you, “you don’t know just how good you feel around me.” You shifted a bit, rolling your hips to his, “About as good as you feel inside me.”
A low growl, then he was moving on you, fast right from the get-go, his thrusts forcing a moan from you on each stroke. Your legs moved - seemingly of their own accord - around his hips, and this new angle obviously pleased both of you, as the noises the two of you made got even louder. You felt him deep inside you, and every time you squeezed and held him there, he actually whimpered.
“Good puppy!” you managed to gasp out, hearing an answering snort of laughter from him. “I am not...” he gasped back at you between thrusts, “...a fuckin’ puppydog, sweetheart.” “But Billy, you’ve got those big brown eyes ...” your own eyes closed at a particularly forceful thrust, “...and you are fucking me, so...”
His only answer this time was to pull one of your legs higher onto his back, thrusting deep as he did, and then his hand cupped your breast and massaged it hard. That shut you up.
His fingers were at your inflamed core again and then he was rubbing at your clit, making your back arch with sheer pleasure. He was switching between kissing you hungrily and nipping and sucking love bites onto your collarbone. Thank god he wasn’t targeting your neck, you thought, that would look so professional at work. You, meanwhile, were over-indulging in your obsession with his hair, running it back off his forehead with your fingers and tugging on it to your heart’s content.
Finally your over-pleasured body couldn’t take any more, and your climax hit you like a truck. Your nails dug into his muscled shoulders, grabbing him in a death grip and a small scream of “Billy!” exited your open mouth. You felt him give a few sharp thrusts, realising that he was about to come; you heard your name, then a long groan and he released his warm seed into you. He sunk down onto you, kissing you softly but with passion, long fingers laying gently along your jaw and neck as he did so.
“Angel....” he sighed.

The simple fact was that they glowed. Virgil had long ago given up on trying to explain it to himself; they just glowed when he saw them. It was like a premonition- a beautiful soft light that needed to be contained lest it sullied the rest of the world by leaving it dim and grungy in comparison.
Virgil was grungy. He knew very well he didn't and would never glow as they did. Maybe that was the reason why. Maybe if he ever had to tell someone why he did it, he'd tell them that.
He killed them because they glowed and no one should be able to glow.
However, he'd never cared all that much about the whys. The hows were so much more fun. How did he pick his victims? Easy. They glowed and walked in at the wrong time. How did a weak, little, pathetic loser subdue the perfect glowing people? Bitter coffee was a perfect cover for bitter poisons. How did he end their lives? Any way he pleased.
How did he avoid detection? A healthy dose of anxiety kept him careful. Too many of the brightest glowing people escaped because they'd be missed. He never went by his legal name anywhere. He stayed patient and alert. He was the nobody that no one could ever remember. Playing barista sucked but it was the perfect cover. No one ever suspected the sulky, little, dimwitted worker stuck on the insomniacs shift at the quiet little 24-hour cafe. And no one ever really noticed if the store's hours were a bit unpredictable between 2 am and 4 am. That was the best time for hunting; it worked and Virgil wasn't going to stop anytime soon.
---
Virgil knelt, his latest catch already unconscious and tied up behind the counter when the doorbell chimed. Cursing at himself for forgetting to lock the door, Virgil grabbed a refill pack of napkins and stood cautiously. He gasped, finding the man who had entered shone twice as brightly as the woman he already had tied up. Certain that Miss Double-Soy-Latte-with-Hazelnut-Syrup-and-Whipped-Cream-you-got-that-Sugar? wasn't about to wake up and cause a scene, Virgil watched the man as he studied the menu.
The first thing he would do is take the man’s studded wrist gauntlet and fishnet fingerless gloves. Those things couldn't belong to someone who glows. Virgil squinted and could just make out a loosely looped studded belt to match, hanging off the man’s hip and exposing his lack of undergarments. Virgil hungrily followed the curve of that hip with his eyes up to the man's stomach peeking out underneath the ragged edge of a homemade cropped band t-shirt. He wanted to punch that stomach, to feel what it was like when the man tensed and when he stayed soft in compliance.
Next, he stared at shapely arms crossed in front of the man's chest. Those arms looked strong as a vice and he wondered how much effort it would take to break those delicate bones to render the muscles useless. Would he break first?
The man wore a sleeveless leather vest, displaying a museum's worth of inkwork, tentacles and snakes, and other writhing forms accented periodically with teeth and eyes and fangs and beaks. A rendition of the Harry Potter Death Eater mark set into the shoulder and tattooed thorns circled his neck. Virgil found himself getting hot under the collar and decided two in one night would be a fun challenge.
It was hard to see the man’s face until he flashed Virgil a brilliantly blinding smile as if on cue. The smile was all the sign Virgil needed to know this man would die tonight. He was practically begging Virgil to save him from the light radiating from his face. His gorgeous, handsome, wild-eyed face.
Virgil wanted so badly to touch the messy, overdue 5 o'clock shadow, to feel the scars left by razor nicks and frequent skin irritation. He wanted to wipe away the heavy eyeliner and mascara, run dirty fingers through greasy, dyed hair. He wanted those eyes to see him for who he is so he could spare them the pain of hoping there had been another ending once he'd entered the shop.
If the stranger was uncomfortable with his intense gaze, he certainly didn't show it as he approached the counter. Virgil squirmed as a cacophony of overlapping mismatched beats of a second hand overwhelmed his entire sense of hearing. Looking down, he quickly spotted a wristwatch on the unconscious woman's wrist and stepped on it to deaden the maddening sound. Soon all he could hear was the new customer's watch ticking erratically as though it needed to be wound up.
"Heya, kitten! Like what you see, baby?" the man smirked at Virgil as he leaned down on the counter and made sultry suggestive eyes at him.
"Excuse me?" Virgil hissed, recoiling from the familiarity.
"Woah, kitty's got claws huh?" the man giggled. Virgil stiffened, well aware how close the man could come to looking down and spotting the woman. And if he attempted to turn him in it wouldn't end pretty. He didn't want to have to clean up the shop after a struggle before having his fun.
"What are you ordering?" Virgil asked tersely.
"Me-ow. Guess you don't swing my way- darn. I bet you've got a totally bodacious booty too," the man batted his eyelashes at Virgil.
"That isn't on the menu. Order or get lost, yeah?" Virgil growled, trying to seem as disinterested in the enticing man as he could manage.
"Right. Seven shots of espresso, a shot of creamer, and a shot of the pineapple ginger concentrate, s'il vous plait," the man listed off as though he'd ordered the same thing a hundred times.
Virgil froze, unsure how to ring up the disgusting concoction, "what the hell? What kind of drink is that?"
"It's like me. One of a kind," the man beamed, brushing bleached silver hair out of his eyes, "can you handle that, kitty kat?"
"Stop with the pet names," Virgil rolled his eyes and finished inputting the drink, "um.. that will be… $6.69."
"Eyo! Sixty niiiiiiine," the man giggled emphatically while pulling out his money to pay.
Virgil rolled his eyes, "childish. Name for the order?"
"Uh, your phone number."
"What?"
"Damn you don't take hints!" the man placed one hand on his chest and bowed with a flourish, "my name is Remus, and I think you're very cute, kitty kat."
"You are maddening! Just call me Virgil!" he snapped, getting a cup ready to prepare the last drink Remus would ever have, "it's gonna take a minute to pull all those shots. Gosh… that much caffeine could kill you…" Virgil smirked at his own joke.
Remus took the smirk for a friendly smile and grinned, "I got all night for you, Virgil."
"That's cute. I'll let you know when it's ready," Virgil smiled, making direct eye contact as he added his favorite blend of sedatives to Remus’s cup.
It only took 30 seconds before Remus hit the floor with a confused grunt. Virgil was almost impressed the man had downed half the drink in one gulp. Moving quickly, Virgil locked the shop and dragged Remus back behind the counter, binding and gagging the flirtatious idiot. Tonight was going to be so special.
---
It hadn’t been easy, moving both bodies- cursing his weak, pathetic self the entire time. He made sure to dose both of them again after stashing them in the trunk so he could go back and finish out his shift.
He smiled pleasantly at the officers who stopped by just before the morning shift, careful to not give them any reason to be suspicious as he packed up day-old donuts and prepared two drinks nearly as caffeinated as Remus’s drink had been but significantly less poisoned. But still a little poisoned because fuck the police.
It took every muscle in Virgil’s body to not run gleefully to the car when the morning shift came to relieve him from work. He hid his excitement behind his usual persona of snarky disinterest and exhaustion until he was safely in the car and blasting his favorite CD on the drive home.
Pulling directly into the garage, Virgil shut down the car and giggled as the door shut slowly on his prisoners' last hope for rescue. Working at a leisurely pace, Virgil dragged first Remus then the woman down into his basement, both drowsy and barely able to make a complaint. It only seemed fair they die in the order they'd been caught so Virgil laid Remus out on the couch while he tied the woman down to his workbench.
The woman began to moan pathetically just as Virgil was tying down the last limb. It was not a moment too soon. He chuckled to himself and smacked her face a few times to help her wake up.
"Look alive, sunshine! You won't be much longer, I'm afraid," Virgil quipped as she blinked awake and started to panic at the restraints holding her down.
God, he hated when they screamed almost as much as he hated the watches. Virgil waited as long as he could stand the high-pitched whining pleas for freedom and help before loudly shushing until she quieted.
"Shh! Stop yelling or I will restrict your breathing," Virgil hissed, laying a prohibitive finger to her lips, "I promise you'll live longer if you stay quiet."
"You'll let me go?"
"No. I'll just take my time," Virgil smirked as the color drained from her face and her lip began to quiver, "ohh. Ohh, don't be so dramatic, sweetheart. It's time to grow up and realize death is inevitable."
Virgil laughed as she started screaming again, only turning away when Remus stirred from his sleep.
"Oh, dear. You've woken up my other guest. Now you know, he's special. You're going to have the life choked out of you, slowly but surely, but he gets to lose a lot more than his life. Count yourself lucky, sweetheart." Virgil turned to examine the man on the couch again as he blearily blinked up at him.
"You coulda'sked, kitkat," Remus mumbled nearly incomprehensibly. Virgil tilted his head in confusion as he watched Remus. The man slowly regained awareness, and even as Virgil stood above him with a hard frown, he smiled back up at his captor.
"What the hell are you getting on about?" Virgil asked with a growl, hoping to startle that unsettling grin off Remus’ face.
Remus laughed, "you coulda just asked if you wanted to do a scene, cutie! Although I love the attention to realism. Like you actually drugged me to bring me home!"
Virgil stared, completely in shock at what he was hearing, "wait.. you think…"
"That you were too shy to ask me out so you drugged me and dragged me back home? Yes," Remus nodded enthusiastically, "if you have some whips and an electric hand mixer we can have some real fun, you sexy little kitten!" Remus bumped his eyebrows suggestively, leaving Virgil absolutely stunned.
"What is going on here?!?" the woman on the table cried out.
"Shut the hell up!" Virgil barked back at her, too confused to do much more than stare at Remus. Why did he like this? Why did Virgil like that Remus liked this? He felt hot and confused but also certain about one thing he absolutely wanted.
Experimentally he reached down and laid his hand on Remus’ exposed stomach. Watching Remus for his reaction, Virgil slowly slid his hand along the skin and up to Remus’s chest. Remus shut his eyes with a smile and shivered at the touch, "oh yeah, baby. I can purr for you, kitty. Anything you want."
Virgil inhaled sharply, pulling back his hand and looking back at the other prisoner as she lay whimpering on the table.
Well shit, what was he supposed to do with a captive audience?
---
Virgil didn't know what he'd been thinking, letting Remus go after all was said and done. Remus had been fun and so down for all of his sickest fantasies, supplying quite a few of his own. He'd stolen Remus’ watch and put it on the woman's body before shooting both timepieces on her wrist. The ticking had probably driven him to let Remus go. That had to explain it
He dumped the woman as far as he possibly could and hoped beyond reason that Remus wouldn't recognize her in the news and realized what he'd done. For a week he lived in fear of the cops showing up at work or worse his house, armed with search warrants and one hell of a witness. For a week, nothing happened.
It turned out he'd worried for nothing. Just when Virgil began to itch again to get rid of another glowing being, despite the police pressure pushing him to lay low, Remus came back in during his shift.
"Hello, my little purrrfect kitten!" Remus beamed as he walked into the shop.
Virgil froze and slowly turned back to face him, "you- you came back?"
"Mhm. Never got your number but I wanted to see you again, Virgie. Figured we could have some more fun this time," Remus smirked as he leaned casually against the counter, "one usual with the special sauce please!"
"Special sauce?" Virgil asked, still amazed Remus had even come back to the cafe.
"You know," Remus leaned in close and whispered, "the stuff that knocks me out so you can take me home and we can get it on freakier than my last BDSM club"
"Wow, you- you liked it that much?" Virgil let out a low whistle. He studied Remus again, stricken by the fact he didn't glow so much this time. Even though Virgil wanted to take care of another glowing bastard, he was so much more interested in this willing abductee.
"Yeah, I did! That shit's hot as fuck!" Remus beamed. Virgil checked the time on his terminal display and realized it was nearly the time his least favorite police patrons would be making their morning run.
"Look, uh… why don't we save the tranqs for my place?" Virgil smirked as he started to prepare Remus’ strange order, "I'm amazed this drink doesn't put you in a coma already."
Remus giggled, "sometimes it takes a little something extra to get the heart pumping, yeah?"
"Hm. Well, I get off in two hours-"
"I'll be sitting right here in the corner then. I wanna get to know you, Virgie."
"A horrible mistake for you, really," Virgil laughed, heart fluttering far too much.
"Plus I think I left my watch at your place…"
"I haven't seen it this week. We can look though," Virgil lied smoothly, knowing very well the police had the timepiece in evidence.
Remus kept flirting as Virgil cleaned the store and served the early morning crowd, true to his word about waiting to leave with Virgil. They walked out to his car and Remus held out his arm expectantly when they sat down.
"What?" Virgil asked suspiciously.
"You're off the clock, let's get this party started. Surely you have the special stuff in here- you injected me last time."
Virgil flushed, "um.. really? You don't want to wait to know where we're going first?"
"How am I supposed to pretend I'm getting kidnapped if you don't knock me out? At least tie my hands?" Remus bat his eyes at Virgil who rolled his eyes and leaned over to grab a scarf out of the glove box.
"You're ridiculous."
"Yeah but you like it, kitten."
---
Logan stared at the evidence bored, absolutely baffled. In 5 months there had been 18 victims, a consistent signature, and every promise that someone would turn up with a connection to this perp. Or someone should know where these folks had been headed when they fell into the unsub's trap.
And then after Lydia with the two watches- nothing. No bodies were found for weeks. No whisperings of the media-named Black Widower who aggressively mutilated his male victims almost beyond recognition after raping them and humiliated the women after strangling them with silk scarves.
"I just don’t understand. Guys like this don’t go dormant! It's against every drive they have. What are we missing, Patton?"
Patton looked up from his third cup of coffee, "I don't know, Lo. What about the two-unsub theory? Maybe they met up and are keeping each other occupied?"
Logan rolled his eyes, "oh sure. Two serial killers, one who's gay and one who hates women meet and start playing house. Real cute."
"It could happen…" Patton replied defensively, already reaching for a second donut as his partner glared disapprovingly.
"No. I think it's the same unsub. The watches are always shot while the victim wears them. It's consistent. It's a single, unique signature that the media still hasn't published. If it's two different killers, they knew about each other and were purposefully copying each other long before they went dormant."
"Well, I'm not going to complain that we aren't finding more victims. I'd rather people not be mysteriously killed and maimed by the Black Widower...s," Patton lifted his chin defiantly. He stood and walked over to the evidence board, studying the geographic profile again, the map showing a confusing cluster of dumpsites, victim's homes, and last sightings, and puzzled over the strangeness of the case.
"If this case goes cold, we may never find the unsub. He lives his life, free to decide to start again while all of his victims lay rotting in the ground. Their families don't deserve to live with that fear," Logan sighed heavily in near defeat, "of course I don’t want more victims. I want this man caught. Why did he suddenly stop?"
---
For a month, Remus had come in once or twice a week, asking Virgil for the secret sauce and flirting with him until the end of his shift. The randomness of his timing and anticipation of his visits made it impossible for Virgil to hunt. He didn't quite mind because seeing Remus was always better than the thrill of the kill.
Virgil finally relented and watched with quiet admiration as Remus celebrated over getting his number, and their relationship only moved faster after that. Pretty soon Remus was able to convince him to go on an actual date after work, grabbing breakfast at a nearby diner and hitting up his apartment afterward. Virgil had rarely spent so long away from his own home, but being out with Remus made him feel almost normal.
Media slowly stopped covering the Black Widower and Virgil smiled to himself just imagining how frustrated the police must be that they couldn't find him.
Virgil was happy, laying next to his boyfriend who loved him despite almost every eccentricity. He almost believed nothing could go wrong with Remus there.
"Uh, kit kat? I have a bit of a confession to make," Virgil winced, cursing himself for being so naive to believe that foolish sentiment.
"What’s up, dukey?" Virgil rolled to his side to face his boyfriend, "you can tell me anything."
"I don't- promise you won't get mad or like.. react badly?" Remus asked quietly, alarming Virgil even more.
He gently laid a hand on Remus’ neck and rubbed that roughened cheek with his thumb, "what's going on, Rem? You're scaring me."
Remus visibly gulped and whispered, "I know what happened to my watch. Virgil, I've always known.."
Virgil pulled back slowly. So this is what it actually felt like to be caught. His heart hammered in his throat, making a verbal reply impossible. He strained to not start crushing Remus’ throat and his own heart in his panic. This was love and this was a threat and god the way Remus looked at him right now only complicated everything else so much more.
He wasn't scared. He wasn't wriggling away from Virgil’s touch. Remus stared death in the eye unflinchingly.
He'd always figured his boyfriend must be brave or stupid, but Virgil hadn't counted on both.
"I know… what you are… and I still fell in love with you, Virgil. If you're gonna… could you at least drug me first and let me kiss you with my last breath?"
Very quickly several pieces fell into place as Virgil stared at the man who loved him despite every flaw and couldn't even beg for his own safety or life.
Remus knew what happened the night they met.
Remus had made the connections to the other murders and the subsequent drought of victims.
Remus could have turned him in- directly to the officers at the shop a half dozen times and a hundred other times when they weren’t spending time together.
Remus loved him.
Remus loved him and was scared of this confrontation.
Remus was not scared of dying.
Killing his boyfriend would be the exact link the cops would need to capture him.
Not killing his boyfriend for knowing his secret would be the largest risk imaginable.
Virgil couldn’t live without Remus
His hand was slowly choking Remus out despite his reluctance to take action.
Virgil gasped and pushed Remus away roughly, darting out of the bed and down the hall. He didn't stop until he heard Remus calling out for him.
Shit.
"Virgil!" his voice came out hoarse and painfully weak sounding. Virgil knew he should run.
But Remus was calling for him. And this was his fault.
"Virgil?" it was a question, asked in a voice that couldn't get enough air to support itself. He could leave and Remus would probably die a very painful death, all alone, with his fingers and palm emblazoned in the bruising that would provide the cause of death.
Remus loved him. He couldn't let this be the end.
Virgil flew back into the bedroom, grabbed the landline, and made the call.
"Remus, I am so sorry. Just keep breathing, baby. I am so so sorry!" Virgil apologized profusely, waiting for the emergency operator to pick up.
---
Hospital staff had to pry Virgil from Remus’ side as they moved him quickly into the O.R. Virgil paced and wondered how exactly to explain Remus’s injuries without getting arrested to distract himself from the fear that Remus would die in surgery.
He should have never let himself get so close to someone so smart and funny and perfect and… glowing. Virgil sat and waited for the doctor's verdict, pulling his hood over his eyes to block out the throngs of injured, sick, frantically glowing people around him.
Ages passed until Virgil heard his name and looked up suddenly for the source. A doctor and a police officer stood before him and all of the adrenaline in his body screamed that he needed to run.
"Uh.. how is he, doc?" Virgil asked, fighting himself to not scream or make a scene.
"Remus Crowne is currently in recovery and you may visit him. Due to the nature of his injuries, we have contacted the police to speak with him first," the doctor intoned, voice dripping with suspicion.
The officer took the pause to speak up, "would you like to make a statement, Mr. Kier?"
"I just want to see him," Virgil replied in a raspy voice, shaking his head in denial as he stood.
"Very well. This way, sir," the doctor led Virgil and the officer back towards the recovery rooms. When they arrived, Virgil nearly choked seeing Remus talking with the same two officers who came into his shop each morning. The shorter one knelt beside the bed to hold Remus’ hand. He spoke softly and asked all the questions while his partner stood tall and took notes, looking incredulously at the injured man. Virgil instinctively wanted to barge in and protect Remus from these pigs but the third held him back with a firm hand on his shoulder.
Before long the two officers left the room, eyeing Virgil disdainfully. He waited for the words that would send his world crashing around him even more than it already had.
"You- you can go in now, hon," Virgil's head tilted in confusion as the third officer let him go, "just be more careful in the future."
"I- what? No charges?" Virgil barely whispered, glancing towards the bed where Remus laid watching the tv.
"Believe me, if it had been me, I don’t care how consensual- I would have pressed charges for sending me to the E.R. have a good day, sir. Come along, Patton." The stricter-looking cop turned, gesturing to the kinder one and all three left quickly. Virgil beamed and ran to Remus’ side.
"You're welcome, kitten," Remus coughed and reached for Virgil’s hand.
"I'm so sorry- I didn't want to, Rem-"
"Shhhh. I told them it was a sex fantasy gone a bit too far. If I'd known you liked strangling dudes too-"
"Now you shush!" Virgil leaned in close, "you get better fast now, okay?"
"I always wanted to date a serial killer.. promise you won't leave me over this?" Remus grinned weakly up at Virgil, "I could help you, ya know."
"Shhhh this is just the pain meds talking. You don’t know a serial killer," Virgil laughed as tears of relief streamed down his cheeks. He gave Remus a dramatic stage wink and held his hand securely.
"Aww, you're right. I'm just stuck with a pretty boy who doesn't know his own strength," Remus grinned and watched Virgil rather than the tv until a nurse came to shoo his boyfriend away for the night.
Remus couldn't wait for their first hunt together.

Fighting Fire with Froyo
Tumblr media
oh my goodness hello friends plz dont roast my title bc @verryberriess already has LOL it is ✨quirky✨ anyways the first fic back is always rough to write and i got tired of editing so without further ado ...
Nesta pried the uniform hat off her head and wiped the dripping sweat from her brow. By the cauldron, it was burning up today. It amazed her that the frozen yogurt wasn’t melting right out of the machines. That probably wasn’t even possible, but the heat was making her delirious. Of course on the hottest day of the year something was wrong with the AC. She added calling the maintenance guy to her 5-page long mental list of things to do after her shift today.
She truly did not have the time to be working on the service line today. The Archeron sister froyo shop had opened almost a year ago and already she was talking to people about expanding it to become a chain. That’s what she should be working on instead.
Nesta supposed she should be happy their little shop was so popular. The sisters had been so nervous when they were finally able to launch their yogurt shop after years of planning. It was a dream come true.
They named it Archeron Delights and it became one of the most popular dessert places in Velaris. Elain was the mastermind behind the frozen yogurt recipes. People came from all over the country to try their unique flavor combinations. Feyre was in charge of all the interior designing. She remodeled the entire space and made it look modern with colorful signs and trendy photo taking spots - a necessity for kids obsessed with instagram worthy pictures. Nesta was the official manager which meant she dealt with finances, hiring the team, making schedules, and other administrative duties.
To be honest, Nesta never really worked at the counter, but Morrigan their newest hire, and Feyre’s best friend was sick with the flu. Definitely not a good idea to put her near customers. To make matters worse, the shop had been extremely busy today so she didn’t have time to take any breaks. Unlike her sisters, Nesta was already not the cheeriest service worker. It’s why she worked in the back in her quiet, private office.
At least she could distract herself by filling out their monthly budget summary while waiting. However, her calculations were soon interrupted by the cheerful bell dinging, meaning the shop door was being opened. Damn another customer.
Nesta began quickly finishing up the section she was on, “Hi I’ll be with you in one -”
“You need to get out of here,” the customer interrupted.
Nesta’s smile dropped so fast. Who did this man think he was?
“No, you need to get out,” she snapped back without looking up from her papers. If he was gonna speak to her like that she was gonna take her sweet time.
“Excuse me I -”
This time Nesta interrupted. “This is my shop and I say you need to leave.”
“Ma’am if you would let me explain -”
“Stop calling me ma'am, you have no right -” This time it was Nesta who trailed off.
She finally looked up to see a man equipped fully in firefighter gear staring right at her. Shit. She just yelled at a fireman. To make matters worse he was handsome. Extremely handsome.
“There’s a small fire in another location 2 units from yours. We’re containing it, but you still need to evacuate,” the man explained.
Nesta was still gaping. It seemed she was unable to form words. How was this man so attractive? He was wearing full protective fire gear and wasn’t even breaking a sweat and here she was, literally dripping.
To be quite honest she couldn’t tell if she was sweating because of the heat or the fireman’s burning gaze.
“Ma’am can you hear me? Ma’am? Oh for goodness sake.”
Before Nesta knew it she was being lifted off her feet. Literally.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she exclaimed in surprise.
“Ah so you can still talk.”
“Put me down you oaf.”
“Oaf?” he raised a brow, “That’s a real nice way to thank the person saving your ass.”
“I’m serious,” she said crossing her arms angrily.
“Let’s get to safety first.”
Nesta gave the man a withering glare, but he continued to carry her bridal style to a tent where it seemed other shop owners were gathering.
“Oh my goodness Nesta are you hurt?” Aelin asked as they approached.
Aelin owned a dress boutique in the same plaza and they often grabbed lunch together. She was Nesta’s best friend.
“No I am being harassed,” she deadpanned.
“She means saved,” the firefighter corrected as he finally set her down.
“Woah he’s hot,” Aelin whispered in her ear.
“Shut up or I’m telling Rowan.”
“Just an observation” Aelin laughed.
The man gave them a polite smile before heading back towards the rest of the firemen.
Nesta stopped him before he got too far. “I want to talk to your boss,” she said sternly.
“You mean the captain?” he asked.
“Yes.” Obviously.
“Why do you need the captain ma'am?”
“Stop with the ma’am, I’m serious.”
“Ok fine. What’s your name?”
Nesta stayed silent.
“Ok then, sweetheart. Why do you need the captain?”
Nesta growled at his stupidity. “I am not your sweetheart and I am reporting you for inappropriate behavior.”
Something like amusement crossed his face, but it quickly vanished, “I see. I’ll be right back then.”
For someone about to lose his job he did not seem the least bit frightened.
***
It was only a few minutes before the man returned. He was still wearing his fire pants or whatever they were called, but the protective jacket was gone. Now he wore a tight shirt that read Velaris Fire Dept. It framed his muscles a little too perfectly for her taste. How was this man real?
“The captain is busy at the moment but I will take your complaint and hand it to him myself,” he said, pulling out a pen and paper.
“How do I know you’re not going to rip it up as soon as I leave?”
“You can watch me hand it to him once we have this mess sorted out,” he assured her.
“Fine.”
“First I will need your name.”
“Nesta Archeron” she grit out.
“Nesta. I like how that sounds.”
She rolled her eyes. This man was absolutely insufferable.
“Ok, now your phone number.”
“Why do you need my phone number?”
“So the captain can contact you about this issue, of course.”
She grabbed the paper from his massive hands and scribbled her number down quickly.
“Ok and what are you complaining about?” he asked, clearly amused.
She rolled her eyes, “You already know what I’m complaining about.”
“Well, I need to write it down word for word,” he said, laughing softly.
His laughter was the last straw. “You know what this is ridiculous I’m going to find the captain myself,” she said, stomping off.
“That’s gonna be hard to do sweetheart,” he called after her.
“Oh yea, why?” she yelled back over her shoulder.
“Because I am the captain.”
That stopped Nesta dead in her tracks. She turned slowly to see the big oaf smiling.
“Cassian Nazari, Captain of Station 17,” he said, extending his hand.
“Are you playing a game or something?” she scowled, slapping his hand away.
“No,” he chuckled softly, “Just doing my job.”
“By pretending to not be the captain and stealing my information?”
He smiled again and half of her wanted to slap him, but the other half was tempted to kiss him. What was wrong with her?
“I take complaints seriously. So seriously, that I would like to hear all about your complaint over dinner.”
“This is not funny,” she said crossing her arms over her chest.
“Don’t tell me you’re not interested. You took one look at me and were absolutely speechless. I literally had to carry you out before you burned to death.”
“The fire was contained, evacuating was a formality you brute.”
“If you say so,” he said sarcasm lacing every word. “I’ll pick you up from your shop at 6.”
Nesta’s jaw dropped, the audacity of this man was astounding. She paused before answering, debating her options. She figured she could either continue pretending to hate him or just give in. Gods above, was she actually considering this?
“Say yes you idiot” Aelin whispered.
Nesta flinched in surprise. Where the hell did she even come from?
“Are you kidding I’m not going anywhere in this.” Nesta argued, gesturing to her work apron and leggings.
“I think it looks great,” Cassian said with a wink.
“Me too,” Aelin added.
Nesta gave Aelin a deadly look before saying, “Let’s meet at the Sidra at 7. That way I have time to change.”
Cassian only looked surprised at her suggestion for a second before agreeing, “Ok, I’ll see you there.”
He waved before heading back to the rest of his crew and Nesta against her better judgement waved back.
“Nesta Archeron, are you smiling?” Aelin teased as soon as Cassian was out of ear shot.
“Shut up. I am absolutely not,” she said, quickly bringing her face back to neutral.
And then it hit her...
She was going to dinner with Cassian - a fire captain she just met. What the hell was she thinking?

You guys know what?
Modern AU idea thingy where Din finally gets to meet Luke’s biker gang and yet somehow still thinks Luke killed a guy once and is on the run from the law after meeting those idiots???
Din meets them after he and Luke have been dating a while - officially dating, that is.
Not that confusing period of time where Din things like Din thinking Luke was inviting him out to watch a movie they both wanted to see because friends do that kind of thing, don’t they? And if they both realized they’d skipped lunch - Din had to deal with a stubborn kitchen sink leaking in one of the units, and Luke got suckered into talking about him teaching classes at her gym outside of the ones she let him and Obi-Wan hold there for their kids, for paying customers of hers.
Anyway, Luke knew a place nearby, if Din doesn’t have to get back to Grogu yet, and other such shenanigans.
Those times Luke thought Din was asking a buddy to keep him company at the some event or other with Grogu’s daycare/school, and you would not believe the amount of pictures Luke has saved on his phone of Grogu dressed as a sunflower, or the frog that one time, and Din is like, dying, because Luke is exactly his kind of idiot and anyway.
They cleared that one up and have been dating for a few months when Din goes to Luke’s to see him sitting on his couch with this look on his face. The kind of look you see on people in the movies when some important historical landmark is destroyed in front of them by invading aliens or they’ve somehow managed to survive Black Friday.
(Din was in the fucking trenches okay, worked retail for a while way back when, worked for a damned toy store, he has seen hell and lived to tell the tale.)
“Luke?”
Luke looks at Din, which is when Din sees Luke’s holding his phone. Thinks he got bad news? Maybe his family on the other coast, the one he struggles with sometimes, wants to share with Din because he loves them and he loves Din, but.
Complicated.
Din sits next to Luke, watches him carefully. Doesn’t want to push him, spook him, Telegraphs his intent when he takes Luke’s phone out of his hand and puts it on the coffee table, takes Luke’s hand in his and squeezes.
“Is something wrong?”
It takes a moment, but then Luke blinks, comes back from wherever he went -
“What?” he asks, and seems to realize that oh, hey, Din’s there. “Oh, uh. No. Nothing’s wrong.”
Kind of blurts out that last bit, and realizes it gives him and his current mental state away because he winces, gives Din this wobbly little smile.
“Nothing’s wrong,” he says again, Din closer to believing it, that vise around his heart loosening -
“Wedge and the others want to meet you.”
Luke’s just blurting things out again, but it’s fine because Din is like !!! and also !!!
"Oh?” he says, because it’s obvious from what Luke’s told him about them that Luke also loves his very stupid, very dumb friends who ride motorcycles and are in a gang that have matching tattoos and jackets and patches and who knows what else, but murder is a a very real possibility. “When?”
Luke gives Din a look, because it’s kind of a joke between them now, the thing where Din thinks Luke killed a man once and is on the run from the law, but it also kind of isn’t, because Din.
“I promise you won’t have help them hide any bodies,” Luke says, which is great because Luke’s the only one Din will help when it comes to hiding bodies
(Well, and Grogu, obviously. Possibly Cara, but really only because she would be carrying the body with her and the neighbors might see, and anyway, yes.)
Din finds out Biggs and Wedge and the others do this thing once, maybe twice if things are going well for them, a year. Take a couple of weeks off to hop on their bikes and go on a road trip. Usually there’s a biker convention/gathering on the other end of the road trip, but this year?
Luke’s told them so much about Din and Grogu and this happy little life he’s built for himself out here they just absolutely have to check things out for themselves, you know? Make sure Luke’s okay, that Din is treating him right - Luke rolls his eyes as he tells Din about that part because he can take care of himself, and they know it, but still.
Anyway, this year they’re coming to see Luke, will be by in a few weeks, and sorry to freak Din out, but they can be a bit much, sometimes?
Anyway, anyway.
Din is quietly !!! about Luke’s old biker gang coming by to vet him. Like, the thing about not having a squeaky clean past, but he’s kind of a do-gooder.
(Boba thinks it’s hilarious the way people who come to his shop are wary around Din like he’s not the biggest softy in the world - look at how he dotes on his kid, you know? Also, marshmallow, but yeah, fine, bad boy you wouldn’t want to take home to mom, whatever.)
He almost, almost forgets about the upcoming visit, but then there’s a day he’s down at Boba’s shop. Picked Grogu up from daycare/school and dropped by to talk about covering for some of Boba’s people the next week when they hear bikes coming down the street.
Nothing to worry about because Boba’s bike shop? Place where bikes are taken to fixed and whatnot???
Only, huh, sure does seem to be a lot of bikes, you know? A lot of bikes all at once, even. And just as Boba gets this annoyed look on his face about the racket, Din gets a text from Luke.
Ignores Boba going out to see what all the commotion is when it stops outside of the shop and checks the text to see a simple, chilling message: we’re outside
He gets an equally shilling message a few seconds later: :DDDDDDDDDDDD
Din is like !!! because, well, that explains the bikes outside? But Boba yelling to Din there’s a biker gang outside that wants to meet him is also a clue, so.
Din looks over to where Grogu was quietly playing with his toys and is like oh, no, because Grogu is gone and Boba left the door open and he runs out to find him.
Not worried about Luke’s biker gang because Luke loves those idiots and anyone he loves that much can’t be bad, but his kid, okay, his kid is a goddamned terror.
Looks cute as hell, but even Luke agrees about Grogu being a terror.
(That whole thing about taking one to know one, Din assumes.)
When Din gets outside it’s to Boba giving him a look before he goes back inside to wrangle paperwork.
Grogu is sitting in front of Luke on his bike, and Grogu is now sporting a tiny bike helmet with the starbirds on either side that looks like Luke’s tattoo.
Also?
A tiny jacket that matches the one Luke wears sometimes when he’s riding his bike, that the other bikers surrounding Luke are wearing and Din is like.
His heart because that shit’s adorable as hell? But also, oh, no, his kid’s going to be in a biker gang like Luke and Din’s going to have to help them hide so many bodies. :(((((((((
And then it’s Luke introducing Din to his friends (also people who helped Luke and his family unravel this major conspiracy that went on for over twenty years and was on the news for forever and also everyone but Din seems to be aware of, but yeah) who are all :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD when Luke’s around to run interference, but the moment Luke’s out of the room and whatnot?
Wedge is a high-ranking military officer, as are most of the gang, and they have their own connections who wouldn’t rat them out to Luke if Din does something to hurt Luke, you know.
Just putting that out there, friend. :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD
(Like, hey. Arguments and shit, they happen. But do something to break his heart, and he’ll have them to deal with, forget Leia and the others.)
But also, also.
They do like him, think it’s hilarious he thinks they’re a bunch of hardcore bikers or whatever, you know? They just happen to share a love of bikes, and friendship with Luke who they are super protective of, and also adore the hell of Grogu, as much as he adores them.
Also, though, also?
Din riding with Luke and Grogu goes with Wedge - “Din, relax. He’s as safe as he would be with me.” - on a ride on the roads outside of the city.
Gorgeous views and when they hit a wide open stretch of road they can see down for miles the others show off a little, switch positions and the whatnot so smoothly it’s obvious they’ve been riding together for years, know one another and how they think, react and so on.
Wedge and Grogu pull up alongside Luke and Din, and friendly insults are tossed back and forth and then Wedge guns it, and Luke glances back at Din, like are they really going to let him get away with that?
Which, no. No they are not, and then it’s this race between them, the rest of the Luke’s little biker gang (family) fanned out behind them.
Wedge and Grogu win of course, because Luke’s bike is carrying two full grown men while Wedge’s is carrying a tiny child and also Grogu.
Still, looking at the look on Grogu’s face, that huge, huge smile as Luke’s old biker gang high fives him and pats him on the back, the way Wedge puts him up on his shoulders and floats the idea of them teaming up from then on since he’s good luck -
Din could maybe understand if Luke would have let them win anyway.
But also, also, there being a lake or something out there where they decide to camp for a few days, Have tents set up and a barbecue pits and bonfire going, Grogu learning teaching Wedge and the others the correct way to roast marshmallows and build the perfect s’more while Din and Luke go for a last spin around the lake before it gets too late. Stop on a little rise over lookig the lake, smile at the boonfire on the other side, laughter drifting over the water to them and it’s like.
Din can’t be expected not to kiss Luke, you know? Pull Luke’s helmet off and smile at how happy he looks, lit up with it, and the worst case of helme hair Din has seen in his entire damn life -
“Rude, hurtful,” Luke accuses, but he’s laughing, and happy, and anyway.
Din kisses him, because he can’t not, and Luke seems to be on board with that whole line of thought because they do that for a while.
Don’t stop until their phones buzz at the same time - and Din has no idea how Wedge got his phone number, but the picture he sent him and Luke of Grogu about to shove a truly impressive multi-level s’more in his mouth while the others cheer him on is both adorable and horrifying.
“Oh my God,” Luke says, having the same realization as Din that a Grogu powered by that much sugar would surely be unstoppable.
They get to the others too late to stop things, of course they do, but it’s almost - almsot - worth it to see Wedge and the others being terrified by Grogu in the throes of major sugar rush.
The two of them certainly get excellent video of the whole disaster that will kep their black little hearts warm though the coldest, bitterest of winters.
While Grogu traumatizes Luke’s old biker gang Luke tells Din how they all met.
Luke who was this weird kid who’d made friends with Biggs right? Neither of them remember how that happened, assumed it came of growing up togehe i the same small town and such.
And then Biggs met Wedge and the others through school or something, college, and Luke came out to visit one summer. Had just finished fixing up his dad’s old bike and wanted to show Biggs, you know?
Wedge and the others impressed because Luke’s dad had good taste in bikes, and hey want to come up in a couple of weeks for this road trip they do?
Luke kind of figures it’s them being polite because he’s Bigg’s friend from back home, little brother kind of deal, but he really wants to go on the ride they tell him about.
Problem is, when he goes out to see them a few weeks later Biggs is in an accident, small one, not seriously hurt or anything, but his bike is going to be out of commission for a while and Biggs needs to take it easy until he heals up.
Luke was like, oh, man, that sucks, but at least Biggs is going to be okay, you know? Figures he and Biggs will hang out, maybe work on his bike while the others go on the road trip?
But Biggs and the others are like, no, dummy, they want you on the ride, go have fun!
Be young and stupid and do something that will convince the future love of your life that you killed a man and are on the run from the law!!1!
“...Something tells me that’s not what they said to you,” Din says.
Luke shrugs admits he’s paraphrasing things, but that’s the general drift.
Anyway, he gets to be friends with Wedge and the others, enough that they are like, 100% on board that one time they found out someone was to kill Luke and his family and the thing where his dad - and conequently Luke’s family - has been tangled up in a decades old conspiracy that involves world leaders and the safety of the entire world, and really.
“I met them a few months before all that happened,” Luke says, like he still doesn’t get why his friends would want to get involved, help him. “but we couldn’t have done it without them.”
Din still doesn’t know the whole story about that, whatever affected Luke so strongly he literally wandered the country for a while, a year, maybe more, it’s hard to tell, before he went to visit an old family friend in Obi-Wan and finally settled somewhere longer than a few weeks for the first time in years.
But he can wait until Luke tells him, if he ever does. Din doesn’t care about knowing the details, just enough to look after Luke when the idiot won’t do it for himself.
And it’s why Din lets Wedge and the others posture, let them threaten him and all that because they’re doing it to look out for Luke even now, know he’s the kind of idiot who won’t bother for himself.
He’s a little concerned at the way they’re obviously out to recruit his kid into their gang, which.
The bodies? But also Grogu would be safe with them, and that’s like. Strangely reassuring.
Still, his kid is years away from getting his license so he has some time to convince him he doesn’t want to be in a biker gang.
So of course, of course Wedge and the others have to make it harder for Din to do that when the next time Grogu’s ready to move up a bike size they send him a present.
Claim it’s to make up for all the birthdays and Christmases they missed before getting to meet Grogu in person.
It’s  bike, yes. One that will grow with Grogu through the next several growth spurts, but?
It’s painted in the gang’s colors, has starbirds on it. Little goggles to replace the ones Wedge gave him the first time they came to visit, the strap worn through from Grogu handling them so much. A new helmet with the starbirds, and a tally mark for the race he won with Wedge, Luke explains, grin in his voice and apologetic shrug for Din because his friends, okay. Kind of impossible.
So far there’s just the one, but there’s space for more and Din is like. *SIGH* at the thought of his kid with a biker gang, even if it’s Luke’s old biker gang and they’re all idiots, just.
*SIGH*

Treasure
Misdirection, one of oldest skills in history. It’s also not hard to pull off. People see what they want to see. Good or bad, that’s just how life works; and that’s exactly what makes or breaks a thief. A young girl at the age of fifteen learned this long ago. Dirty, hungry, and poor, the people of Vacou could only see one thing. A weak street urchin, capable of nothing. The ultimate misdirection. How did she know? Simple. She was the one with diamonds around her neck and a backpack. And for those who saw her as weak, they were busy seeing the dirt kicked up from her stride.
“AFTER HER!!!” The many rushing officers cried out. “She has the clerk’s diamonds, and the customer's belongings!! Don’t let her get away!”
The crowded night streets ripped and raved with chattering yelps from citizens being pushed out the way. The fully masked blue blur bolted between the individuals, laughing as the light of the city dazzled the jewels she dawned.
“Hahahaha!” She laughed, the girl made a hard right into an alleyway. A few people cluttered it as well but it played to strength. She ran along the wall then hopped off this homeless man’s head to reach a fire escape. “Wohoo! Thanks for the lift Pete!”
“Damn you Mona!” He yelled, rubbing his head. “Why are you always such a- huh?” A flicker of light hit his eyes off of his wrist. Pete brought his arm back down to find a glorious and lavish watch that was certainly worth more than his life. He quickly took it off and slid it into his pocket, chuckling. “Hehehe, I swear, that girl I tell ya.”
Fast and free, Mona made it to the rooftop, continuing her escape into the night. To her left, cops stood on buildings with their gravity restraints at the ready. One after another was hurling at her from multiple angles.
“Tsk,well I guess a rooftop run was a little predictable, but…” Mona ducked restraints near her neck then jumped over one aimed at her ankles. This was getting a bit interesting. Too interesting for her taste. Mona did a handspring forward into a flip. While midair and upside down, she grabbed a restraint that would’ve hit her feet and flung it back to the cops. The end knocked two off course before nailing an officer in the chest, wrapping around him. “They’ll have to try a little harder than that.”
Mona kept her pace. What they lacked in skill they made up for in numbers. So many eyes on her didn’t leave her too much room for sleight of hand. Good thing a pro like her knows how to work the room. Her eyes scan the area around them.
“Water tower on the right. Nothing, nothing, and more nothing. Welp, guess I’ll play possum.” A restraint comes flying a few feet ahead. “That’ll work.” Mona jumps out in front of it ‘accidentally’ let’s her legs get snared. Mona let’s her knees buckle before rolling off a roof’s edge.
“Got her! Ground units, the alley right off the market’s left entrance.” Calls the captain to her colleagues. Several of the troops go rushing in without hesitation. “Is the thief apprehended?”
“Uhhh ma’am? You sure it’s this alleyway? Nobody’s here.”
“What do you mean!? She fell at least twenty feet with legs tied! Check around the building!” She yelled. Her trained eyes double checked the roof. “She definitely fell. Where-”
“Hey loser!”
Two restraints came flying from the captain’s right, capturing her. The impact knocked her on hard gravel roofing. “What the!?” She looks up to see mischievous golden eyes behind a black mask, twirling two knives.
Mona took out the cop’s ear piece and crushed it in her hand.“Word of advice. Anyone that gets caught after doing things like flips, probably isn’t caught. Have fun stargazing.” She put her knives away and ran off in the opposite direction of the police, vanishing.
xxxx
Racing on the rooftop filled with pride, Mona continued fleeing. Flashing blue and red lights danced in the background to blaring sirens that made the surrounding shadows move back and forth. “They never let up. Guess I’ll need more distance.” She looked ahead of her to see a tall building to run up. But as she prepared to lunge at it, Mona backsteps, avoiding a rider kick that slams right where she once stood. A figure landed right behind a second later. A young girl with red and blonde hair and carrying a backpack. The simple blue plaid skirt and white button up makes it clear that she’s a middle schooler.
“Well then, judging by all that jewelry, you’re what has the cops out in full force.” The girl spoke. Her red eyes were drawn to the necklace in particular. She had recognized those particular diamonds. “To think someone would be insane to steal from the biggest jewelry manufacturer on Remnant? Here I thought a traffic accident was making my walk home from tutoring more annoying than usual.”
“Ummm little girl, who the fuck are you?” Mona said, despite the actual height difference. In fact, it was only the school uniform that gave away the age. This girl looked just about the same height. To think someone younger was already 5’8. Not only that but there were noticeable cracks where her kick landed. This chick was not normal. As a matter of fact… “Have I seen you before? Your face is jogging memories.”
“Maybe? Doubt it though. I tend to leave lasting impressions on people, but who knows? You’ll have time to think about it in jail.”
“Jail?” Mona laughed, “Hahaha! Kid, go home to your juice box and crackers. It’ll make it easier for both of us.”
“Nah” she cracked her knuckles. “Turning a blind eye isn’t really my style unfortunately, so- ”
Mona was tired of hearing this girl’s voice. She ran up on her with a roundhouse kick that missed the kid’s head. Before Mona could register that her opponent had ducked, a fist slammed into her gut, sending her flying backwards. Mona used the momentum to tuck a bf roll back to her feet. “Well then, that was unexpected.”
“It won’t be the only thing if you-hey! Is that my wallet!?”
Mona smiled, flipping a red wallet in her hand. “Hey, you were asking to get robbed.” She opened the wallet and took all the money out. An ID was also in the front. “Huh, Carmine Arc-Rose.” Her eyes looked at the girl then back at the idea. The first name was foggy, but the symbol and last name were known anywhere. “Ohhh, you’re the hero’s kid. Small world. To think I had the privilege to rob the child of the famous Story Teller, Ruby Rose.”
“It’ll be a short lived victory.” Carmine glared, “I don’t know how you managed to pickpocket me, but you won’t get away with it!” Carmine charged forward.
Mona thought nothing of it until the Rose disappeared then reappeared midair with her roundhouse ready to snap forward. “Oh.” Mona ducked in time. A flurry of left and right cross punches came breezing by her face. She eventually got both of her hands up to start redirecting the powerful blows away from her face; until she found an opening to open palm Carmine’s chest, grabbing her by the collar and flinging her away. “Someone is feisty!”
Carmine landed on the balls of her feet, springing herself upward. Her body jerked forward to attack again. This time Carmine spun like a top to deliver a spin kick that hit the crook’s blocking for arms.
Mona grunted, “Damn, of course she’s trained!” Her arms gave out from the force of the kick and Mona got sent back again. This time she backflipped to break her momentum, landing in a crouching position. “Well, you’re annoying.”
“And you’re weirdly nimble. Not to mention agile, faunus?”
“Tah! It’s called hard work.” Mona threw one of her knives at Carmine’s face.
Carmine caught it with her bare hands. However, that wasn’t the best move. With her eyes paying attention to the immediate danger, Carmine didn’t see that Mona had already moved. The thief was right over her, landing on top of her shoulders upside.
“Bye, bitch.” Mona’s gripped Carmine’s shirt again as she fell backwards out of her handstand. Her feet hit the ground fast and her upper body flung upright, hurling Carmine overhead with enough power to completely fling her off the roof. Her knife was dropped in the process for her to pick up. Mona took off! Fleeing the scene again. “Well that was fun, but the last thing I need is some famous brat and the cops chasing-”
“HEY!”
Mona looked over the shoulder. She had to be seeing things. Unless her memory was wrong, but she was certain the hero of Remnant didn’t have triplets. Yet right now Mona was looking at three very pissed Carmines. “What the!? You split yourself or something!?”
“Are you seriously telling me we live in the same place and you don’t know me!?” The Carmine in the middle said. She grabbed the arm of the one to her right. The middle one jumped high in the air, spinning the other around and laughing her at Mona.
“This fucking kid…” Mona turned completely around and ran at the one speeding her. She dove over the midair tackle, grabbing the bag on its back and throwing them at the middle Carmine to catch. She kept running at the third one. “Get lost already!” Mona flipped into a helicopter kick that forced hit Carmine across the jaw. Her legs then came together as she used her arms to laugh a donkey kick into Carmine’s chest. Mona wasn’t finished. Once she landed on her feet, Mona did another backflip onto Carmine’s shoulders; this time to lock her legs around each side of the girl’s face. Annoying or not, Mona wasn’t about to go too far. She chose to drop her elbow on Carmine’s head really hard instead of using her knives.
The Carmine struggled to breathe and pry herself free. “Let...go!” She fell backwards, slamming both of them to the ground.
Mona rolled off the girl to find the other two flying at her with a rider kick each. A hop backwards for her to safety, then a dash forward clotheslined both. The sudden burst of speed was more than enough to knock them over. In the distance, she could see yet another one coming at her. However, that Carmine visibly had Mona recognized was trash on her. That was the one she threw off the roof.
“What, your semblance cloning or something?”
She said, running off as the other three got on their feet. “That’s cheating!”
“Says the thief!” The three said in unison. The left and right clones grabbed the middle and chucked her like a javelin that flew past Mona and to the next building to cut her off. “You’re not escaping!”
“WELL I AIN’T STAYING EITHER!” The open was to the right so Mona made a hard left to unblocked buildings. Sadly, cop lights flashed in that direction. Three Carmine’s were now on her left, one to her right, and as fast as she was, Mona wasn’t liking her chances of dodging busy traffic unscathed. This wasn’t looking too good, and all because of one freaking middle schooler! No matter. Mona did her best work under pressure. Time to kill two birds with one stone.
“You got nowhere to run!” The Carmines said.
“Not with you around! Carmine Arc Rose, was it? You’re gonna wish you minded your business! The name is Mona, and I like your moves. Think I’ll borrow them!” Her left hand pointed to the trio of Carmine blonde redheads and glowed a dark blue. A blue and red band wrapped around her wrist with a rose symbol on the underside.
The same happened to the Carmine in the far back, but the symbol created was two knives crossing each other. “Huh!?”
Mona laughed mischievously, “Hahaha, marked ya.”
Mona slammed her left foot hard and blitzed right at such speed that she all but vanished. The lone clone couldn’t keep track of her until Mona was right in her face, performing a spinning kick that crashed into the clone so hard that it burst into petals. Mona stabbed her knives into the ground as she skidded on the roof trying to control her speed. “Damn, she has this kind of power!?” Mona launched herself forward at the other three.
The real Carmine witnessed the clone furthest in front get roundhouse kicked to oblivion, then the third wasn’t ready for the series of cross punches that turned to petals. Without thinking, Carmine brought her hands up to block and sure enough, it was a very powerful rider kick. “My moves, she-gah!” Her arms buckled from the impact. Even aura didn’t stop the pain. Her arms gave way.
Mona dragged her foot down, opening up Carmine defenses. “Hold this for me.” Mona took her mask off and slapped it on to Carmine and swept her legs from under her. “Later…” she spun violently then put all of might into throwing her into the flashing lights.
Carmine could barely see anything as she was sent down and out like a falling star through piles of trash, tumbling onto the sidewalk concrete. Her backpack helped break the fall but only a little. Carmine groaned and stumbled to her feet, head pounding from the landing and flashing lights. She groaned, “Uuuuggghhh, ow. That piece of-”
“FREEZE!”
Mona looked around her. Cops and bystanders surrounded her with varying expressions. The mask began cracking off her face and light hit her eyes hard. Carmine brought her hands to block some of it, then gasped to realize more light hit her from the diamond jewelry that shined on her arms. Her situation was beginning to settle in. Carmine hissed under her breath, “that little…” she sighed in frustration, dropping to her knees and putting her hands behind her bed for the cops to come and cuff her. “Mom is gonna kill me.”
xxxx
Finally, a clean getaway. Mostly. Mona leaned against a metal beam underneath a water tower, exhausted. Her arms ached from the kick she gave Carmine and the fall the girl took didn’t do Mona’s ribs any justice. “Ugh, I should've broken the connection. Then again, no guarantee she would’ve walked off that landing otherwise.”
Mona took off the jeweled necklace and put it in her bag. It was a good thing this one item was worth more than triple on everything else. Mona kept rummaging around and pulled out half a sub happily. “Aye! I’m surprised this is still in one piece. Come to mama!”
Mona closed her eyes and took a bite. But...she missed? Her eyes opened to find no sandwich there. “Huh!? How did...where…?” She looked around to find it missing.
“It’s above you.” A voice called.
Mona looked up. Above her was another new person she’s never met. A boy with black wings with a shred of white across. The plaid blue pants and white shirt made her mood change from confusion to anger. “For the love of- don’t middle schoolers have curfews or some shit!?” Mona blinked, gasping immediately from the boy suddenly not being on the beam. “What…?”
“In front of you.” He said.
She looked down to see him holding her sandwich. She blinked again and the sandwich was gone. Now it was in her hand, but her bag was in his! “What!? Hey!” She stood up. “Give that back!”
The brown eyed boy laughed, “hahaha, you want this?” He dangled the bag on one finger in front of her. “Judging by your comment earlier, you’re the reason Carmine called me from a jail cell.”
“And if I am?” Mona crouched low, ready to fight.
The boy examined the girl before him. The redness of her forearms and slightly ragged breath gave away she’s not up to full energy. Not only that. Dark circles around her eyes and frazzled hair made her look like she’s never known full energy. Her fingers were skinny, face a bit too thin. Then there was her skin. Though tanned, it looked a little off color. “Question, how old are you?”
Mona raised an eyebrow. For some reason, she felt compliant. That vanishing trick wasn’t speed. Whatever it was, Mona was smart enough to know to know that it was a problem. “Fifteen.” She answered.
“Really? Huh, ya got two years on me then. Guess that means I should respect my elders a little bit. Catch.” He tossed her the bag. “Mona, is that right? Name is Aero.”
“That supposed to mean anything to me? She said, pissed. Mona put the bag on her back and bit her sandwich.
“No. Not yet anyways. You may or may not have heard a couple of snot nosed brats going around and stealing from the adults and messing with gangs?” He said confidently. “I run it.”
She had actually heard of him. Cops around south Vacou had been extra alert as of late. Considering the little stunt he just pulled, Mona was inclined to believe him. “That rings a bell. So what, this your way of telling me not to mess with your people? Your little girlfriend should’ve stayed in her lane.”
“Oh Carmine? Eh, she’ll be alright. What you did was kinda funny!”
“.......” Mona looked around for a second. “Uh, what?”
“You heard me. I just wish I saw the whole thing. Trust me, that girl isn’t that kind of person who needs a bodyguard or someone like me to go fighting her battles. Honestly, I’d sleep with an eye open if I were you. She was upset.”
“So then why find me?”
“Easy, curiosity. Possibly recruitment too.” He pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and held it out. Mona looked at him suspiciously for a second before swiping it faster than he could see. “Wow. Light touch.” he flapped his wings to take off. “That’s a map to my little hideout, and don’t worry about it being a trap. That map also has my address.”
Mona opened up the paper and sure enough. There were two spots marked.
“I’m sure I don’t have to tell you all the good spots to sell that necklace, but I’d do it one jewel at a time. The reward on your head is bound to be massive. People are bound to realize that necklace if you sell that whole.”
Mona’s scrunched her face. “I know how to sell stolen goods, pipsqueak. Why are you helping me?”
Aero shrugged. “Eh, call it an investment. If you do go to the hideout then do me a favor and not eat all the food in the fridge.” Aero saluted her with two fingers and flew away.
Mona watched the strange boy fly in the direction his house was marked in. It could be an elaborate trick. And yet…
xxxx
It took almost twenty minutes, but she found it. In an unmarked alleyway enveloped by the shadows of tall buildings that even blocked the mood, Mona pushed a massive dumpster out the way of a whole in the wall and went in, blocking it again. Inside was a fairly big room that spread out into multiple caverns like a labyrinth, but she paid no mind to any of it. She was too focused on the beanbags in the middle and fridge in the back. She walked over to it and found dozens of fruit and other foods. A stronger rumble in her stomach made her take what looked like half a half and some water. She stumbled back to a beanbag and sat down.
Against her judgment, Mona relaxed her guard. In the distance was a first aid kit but Mona couldn’t be bothered to get it. She was so...so tired. Her body sunk into the cozy beanbag, sighing in relief as the tension of the outside world finally felt blocked by shelter; real shelter.
“Maybe….I can finally get some sleep?”

Sweet sweet revenge
So for starters this is from about 2 years ago now. I used to work at very well known pizza chain restaurant. If Scooby doo could say it, it would called Rominos. I first started out there as just a cashier and would just do the normal stuff, running the register and placing orders. I eventually learned how to make the pizzas. Over time the store manager wanted to promote me to shift runner. For those who don't know what that is, it's a step below assistant manger. So when I promoted, id be in charge of running the shift and delegate roles for the shift and tell employees when they could leave.
Anyways, getting off topic... while I was working there, there was a guy who started there that had worked there before. When he was there before, he was an assistant manager. He left one day during a busy evening when the store was slammed with orders and customers. He apparently got too stressed out and couldn't handle it anymore. So two years later he comes back, but now as a delivery driver. When he first started for the second time, I didn't know who he was and I had never met him before that. He seemed nice.... at first. After a few days he kept trying to be the person in charge. I had to put him in his place a few times when I was running the shift. Now I wasn't on the best of terms with the store manger. We had a few blow outs here and there, mostly from him breathing down my neck when we were really busy. I snapped at him and told him to back off and let me do my damn job. So when I went to him to tell him about the delivery driver (we'll call him Brad) was trying to act as a manger he didn't seem to really care. Alright whatever. I was talking to the one assistant manager that I was friends with (we'll call him Chad). I had told him the deal and he told me to just tell him off. The next shift I worked with Brad, he again tried acting as the manager, I told him he isn't an Assistant manager anymore and he's driver and needs to stop as I'm the one that's in charge of the shift. He huffed and walked away from me. Everything was fine for a while... Well one day I was sitting in the office taking care of a few things on the computer, and in comes Brad. He starts talking to me about an order and just messing around with me. As I'm finishing up on the computer, he kneels down making it look like he's picking something up off the floor so I don't pay him any mind. Next thing I know, he's jabbing a finger into my breast. I froze unsure of what to do. A million things ran through my mind in a split second. Now before I continue on I should note, this isn't the first time to happen to me in my life. When I was in high school, a guy thought it would be funny/cool to grab my breast as hard as he could one day we were on the bus. In the end I beat the living hell out of him. It took a few people to keep from doing some real damage. He then got expelled from the school. A year or two later I had moved and a similar situation happened on the bus again, this time I didn't get a chance to do anything because the school bus pulled up to his stop and he ran off the bus. Got him suspended from school and his parents apologized to me along with making him apologize as well. Theres some other issues, but you get the point.
So anyway, he jabbed my breast hard and I froze. All those times I had that happen to me flashed through my mind. I got up and I went out back slamming the door hard. I was pacing back and forth for a few minutes. I didn't know what to do, didn't know what to think... I was shaking from being utterly pissed off and from a feeling I couldn't recognize. Now this is the kicker, he comes out acting like nothing happened and telling me how I need to keep the back door locked because that's how the place got robbed before, 4 years ago by the old store managers son... Well the conversation went a little like this
Me: I don't give a fuck! Leave me the fuck alone and go the fuck back inside!
Brad: Don't yell at me and curse at me!
Me: Dude you really do not want to fuck with me right now! Go the fuck back inside NOW! I am not going to Fucking say it again!
Brad: And what are you going to do if I don't?
So before I can say another word Chad comes out because he hears me yelling at Brad. When he sees how red my face is, he gets Brad back inside and then comes to check on me. At this point I'm sitting in my car crying and shaking because I was so mad and so upset. I explained to him what happen. I lived with my mom at the time and he told me to call her, so I did. I told her what happened and she told me to call the Store manager and tell him that something needs to be done about Brad. So I call the Store manager and this is the conversation:
Me: Hey so I wanted to let you know that Brad was very inappropriate and sexually assaulted me. (Blah blah blah you know the story).
Store manager: Oh my god you guys seriously act like children. You all need to grow up.
Me: What!? Are you being serious right now? I need to grow up? Dude one of your MALE employees assaulted me!!
Store manager: Whatever I'll take care of it. Bye.
So when he said he would take care of it, he meant "I'm gonna smack him on the hand and tell him that's not nice and send him home for the night".
Okay fine, I take it a step further and call the District manager. He doesn't answer so I left a voicemail telling him that I needed to discuss something with him in regards to Brad and that if I didn't receive a phone call back, I was going to press charges on Brad. Never got a call back. So I take it another step further... I decide to file a police report. Got my statement written up and had a court date set. Now mind you the day he got arrested we were all working, myself, Chad, Brad, and Store Manager, plus a bunch of others. When the cop that I had given my statement to came in and arrested him, the look on Brad's face was amazing and the look on Store manager's face was priceless too. Store manager kept asking the cop why he was arresting Brad and the cop said that he wasn't at liberty to tell him and that if Brad would like to say then he could tell him. Well B was released a couple hours later and turns out THE DISTRICT MANAGER BAILED HIM OUT!!!!! I was livid. So Brad came back to the store and told Store Manager what happened and why he was arrested. Well I got sent home early because of the issue. I was told neither Brad nor myself would be allowed to return to work until after the issue was resolved in court. Well my mom worked next door, and guess who she seen back at work the next day having a jolly ol time with Store Manager and District Manager.... you guessed it, Brad was back at work already. I call up the District Manager and ask why Brad is allowed back but I'm not. He spews a bunch of bs about how I have a toxic relationship with Store Manager and that's why I'm not allowed back and then offers me to work at a store over an hour away from me, not guaranteed the same position and pay. I told him to shove the job up his ass and to fuck off with that bullshit and hung up on him.
Court day comes, I show up and head over to my lawyer and my support lady that was there. The hearing gets underway and the verdict, not guilty. Great. If only I had gotten this guy who ill call Zack to come (not his real name for privacy reasons). Remember how I said Brad used to work there a few years ago, well that's when Zack was there. Zack was 16 then and Brad was 32.... He told Zack to get down on his knees and to suck daddy's balls..... If Zack had come to the hearing, I could have gotten a guilty verdict. But because I had no proof of what he did, he got off free. Well.... this is where my revenge takes place..... My entire family found about what happened and I legally couldn't take to social media for legal purposes, but nothing ever said my family couldn't. Little did Brad, Store Manager, and District Manager know, my family had a lot of connections and ties in the community. Within a day everyone in the town and in surrounding towns too, found out what had happened. Well needless to say, they lost A LOT of business. Rominos FIRED District Manager, Store Manager, AND Brad!!!!! They aren't ever allowed to work or come into any of the stores ever again. On top of that some how in the midst of things, someone in town found out that the DM was cheating on his wife and told her.... She divorced him and got everything.... Everything could have been fine had DM called me back or even just sided with me. But nope he wanted to side with a pedophile/predator. In the end, I still came out on top!
TL:DR
Employee sexually assaults me, district manager and store manager protect him. Store gets boycotted, store loses sales, higher ups find out what happened, the three of them get fired and black listed from all stores. District managers wife in the midst of everything gets told by a local boycotter that he's been cheating on her. She divorces him and gets everything.

i told my coworkers how stressed i am abt school and how hard it is to be at work knowing i have so much to do and they were like "omg you need to ask for time off!! you can leave early today if its slow!!" so i was like "ok.." and i left 2 hours early (a lil less bc i had to finish up writing an invoice). i have no qualms abt doing so i just feel guilty doing it and i have this Thing where i feel like i CANNOT call out unless im literally dying. but my coworkers said i should leave early so i was like. ok well if you say so. im not gonna say no lol
BUT ANYWAY literally just as i was about to go a customer came in and started screaming and making a WHOLE SCENE at our office manager and i was so glad i was already leaving bc ppl like that piss me off SO MUCH and i would not have been able to keep my cool. like i wouldve had to excuse myself lmao
and i really feel for my coworker who had to be in the position to deal with that because i know that its awful but im so glad that its not me. and im glad its not me bc i wouldnt have been able to handle it like she did. bc i just wouldnt have been able to stop myself from giving this lady such a damn attitude and that just wouldve made it worse lol
my coworker was trying to tell her how all our manufacturers keep getting delayed and the lady was like "i dont wanna hear those bullshit excuses!" and i just. ma'am idk if you noticed but theres kind of been a PANDEMIC going on for the last 2 years? you really think that doesnt affect the supply chain at all? hm? you really think that? really? huh? are you sure? go fuck yourself maybe
its taking everything i have not to rant about it for like 10 thousand words. its the kind of angry where you cant even type it like if i was gonna rant about it id have to start yelling at a microphone bc text just doesnt do it. bc it pisses me off so much. like. listen. if youre reading this and youve been waiting for furniture thats been delayed. get over it
... ok thats mean, i dont mean that. i know it sucks. it does. i hate having to call people and tell them about delays bc it sucks being the bearer of bad news. but thats just it! we dont WANT to upset people! we're not trying to victimize anybody! youre in this with everybody else! We Are Literally Doing The Best That We Can! WE WANT YOU TO GET YOUR DAMN FURNITURE ALREADY! so when people STILL decide to come throw fucking fits like damn children, screaming at my coworkers who have done nothing wrong and fucking INSULTING us... i dont have sympathy anymore! you lost me! go get fucked!

New Rules
Hi, it’s been a while. I was writing the sinner and the i kissed a boy Au, but I nearly sashimi-tised my finger so I couldn’t finish it earlier.
Criminal Minds
Aaron Hotchner X Male Reader
Words: 2.1k
Warning: F words
I Kissed a boy AU!
                                                       -Hotch-
It was your fault, alright. You didn’t delete your ex’s phone number from your phone. But you keep reminded yourself that it was better this way because you didn’t answer the call. If you did delete the number, you would’ve answered the call and who knows what he’d say to you. Your ex has been calling you several times during your day shift including your breaks, receiving curious and amusing looks from your colleagues.
“Either block the number or answer it,” your colleague, June raised her brows while driving.
“Damn it, sorry,” you mumbled an apology as you turned off the sound. That was a third call from your ex while you were with June.
“You know, Ben told me you’ve been getting calls.” That big mouth Ben, you inwardly growled at one of your colleagues. Ben was a good guy, but he was a blabber mouth. The ambulance slowly halted as the light turned to red. “It’s your ex, isn’t it?” She asked knowingly, she was one of the people who knew about how bad your relationship had been with your ex.
“Yeah, I don’t know why he’s calling. It’s been some time we broke up.” To be honest, you forgot how long it had been when you were with your ex-boyfriend. It wasn’t a good relationship, and he was a violent guy. You weren’t sure what you saw in him back then. An ill-tempered sanguine man, he was. Having a relationship with Aaron made the former bad relationship forgettable.
“Just don’t answer and delete the number. No, block it.” June rolled her eyes. “I don’t know why you’re dragging this staff.”
“What if something happened?” You mumbled, he might be in a trouble and might be asking for your help.
“So?” June looked at you incredulously before turning her face to front again. “He’s neither your boyfriend nor friend. You’re not a police officer or anything, you don’t have to help him. You already have that Aaron guy as your boyfriend, don’t think about others.”
You just stared outside. One by one, the cars were turning their light on as the Sun dropped to the horizon.
“You listening to me?” She narrowed her eyes as you didn’t seem to hear her. “F/N!” June yelled out your name.
You dropped your phone from start. “Shit!” You bend your waist to pick up the phone. “What the hell, Matsumoto!” But you couldn’t reach your phone as it went under the seat. “You’ve done it, thanks.” You said drily, giving up getting your phone.
“Well, you didn’t answer me,” she snorted. “You can get the phone out when we arrive.”
“Thank me for muting it, or else we would’ve traumatised by my ringtone.”
                                                       -Hotch-
You wanted to be alone but didn’t want to be in a quiet place after your shift. Your colleagues invited you for a booze, but you refused tonight. You will have your own booze, but just with yourself. With the calls, you didn’t want to bother Aaron with your depressed feelings. While walking along the street you found a boisterous bar. You peeked the inside if there was a party going on, but the noise was just from patrons talking and music. You went inside a dim lighted bar and found yourself a stool in the corner.
It wasn’t that busy so the bartender came to you as soon as he saw you sitting on the tall stool. “Hey, do you need something?” The bartender casually asked with a friendly smile.
“Yeah.” You mindlessly nodded and ordered your drink and something to eat.
Hopefully the food will be alright. He said something but his voice was buried by some patron’s yelling, and he yelled at the patron ‘hey, no fighting in here’, then he left to the kitchen for the order. With narrowed eyes, you put your phone on the bench which was still silently ringing. Can’t he just give up already? He was getting on your nerves and you glared at your poor phone.
                                                       -Hotch-
The bartender looked at the last patron of the bar. The guy who went in and ordered his drinks several times. And he was sure the guy was drunk as a sailor.
“Hey, pal, you need to go home now.” Sean looked down at the guy who was tapping his phone with his finger.
“He migh’ be there, waitin’ for me.” The drunk guy mumbled miserably. It was hard to decipher as he was slurring too much.
“You have friends? Family, I can call?” He sighed. “Hey, I don’t know what’s going on, but I have to close the bar and go home. You can’t stay here.”
“Righ’,” he rolled the ‘r’. The guy pulled out his dark wallet and fumbled out his card. “My ex’s keep callin’ me, I don wanna go back.” Despite his slurred speech, Sean could understand most of the part.
“Yeah, don’t answer your ex. Ex is ex, it’s just another stranger to you now.” Sean asserted, and the guy pouted at him. He just shrugged at the drunk guy.
Suddenly the guy’s demeanour changed. “Check, please!” He grinned at Sean who shook his head a little.
When Sean returned to him, unfortunately he passed out. “Sometimes I hate this job,” he swore under his breath. Sean tried to wake the patron, but it was futile. “Ah, fuck.”
He couldn’t call a cab now. His eyes went to the drunk’s phone and hoped it wasn’t locked. It wasn’t locked and he was relieved at that. He could just find someone to call and he just froze at the contact the patron had.
“What the?”
Sean dumbly stared at his brother’s smiling photo. He couldn’t remember when his brother smiled like that, and this guy had a photo of Aaron smiling. Which was a rarest thing in the world. Moreover, Aaron’s contact was on the favourite list with a pink heart next to his name. He was sure his face was making a ‘puking’ face. Urg, his brother smiling like that made him goose bumps. At least it wasn’t towards Sean. Anyway, if his contact was on the favourite list -with a scary pink heart- they must be close, right? Like close, close. Sean shook his head roughly, definitely not thinking his brother that way.
When he called his brother’s deep voice answered, though with affection. Sean shivered, nearly dropping the phone.
                                                       -Hotch-
Aaron was happy you called. It was rare for you to call him this late. With a smile Aaron answered your call, but there was no reply. “F/N?” He furrowed his brows, a train of thoughts quickly rushing in his brain.
“Aaron.” Aaron blinked. This voice was familiar, and he never imagined he’d hear this voice from your phone. “Hey, it’s Sean.” His brother said in a quiet voice.
“I know.” He could only managed to say that.
 “This guy, is he your…?”
“If you’re looking for a word ‘boyfriend’, he is.” Aaron knew he said it rather defensively, but he wasn’t about to hear any stupid comments from his younger brother.
“Well, this is quite a first impression for both of us.” Sean tried to ease Aaron’s stiffness. “I have nothing against gay, don’t worry.”
“Why do you have F/N’s phone?” Aaron asked impatiently. He was already dressing up from his pyjamas to go out.
“He’s drunk. You need to pick him up.”
                                                       -Hotch-
Firstly, he stared at his brother, who seemed to be working at the bar. Secondly, he saw you all drunk, sleeping on the stool. You were the last customer and Sean was shrugging at Aaron.
“I thought you wanted to cook?” Aaron raised his brows, remembering a little quarrel from several years ago.
“Well, I still need to work more.” Sean shoved his hands into his pockets. “Don’t analyse me, Aaron.” He squinted his eyes towards at his older brother.
“Fine, I’ll not ask for now.” Aaron huffed. Sure, his little brother was an adult, but he will always worry Aaron. “You could’ve told me you were in the town, however.” He snapped at the younger man.
It’s been years he actually saw Sean face-to-face. Aaron understood Sean being busy when he didn’t attend Haley’s funeral, but he actually wanted his brother to be there for him.
“Hey, sorry, I was really busy. I would’ve called you sooner.” Sean held his hands up, for once admitting what he has done had hurt Aaron.
The brothers stared at each other for a minute and Aaron’s attention turned to you. “Hey, F/N,” Aaron called you softly, but you were deeply in your dream.
“He’s not waking up, you’ll need to carry him.” But Sean looked rather doubtful at his brother carrying you in a drunken state. “He already paid.” He added as soon as he saw Aaron taking out his wallet. Sean then whistled lowly as Aaron easily held you into his strong arms. “Bridal carry, does it mean he’s gonna be your wife?”
“Sean!” Aaron glared at his younger brother. Sean apologised but Aaron knew his brother didn’t mean one bit.
“I’m really sorry I didn’t call you. But I recently found this job after your birthday.” Sean scratched his head. “You can introduce him,” he nodded towards you, “when we see next time.”
“Hopefully soon.”
“Yeah, man. And tell Jack Uncle Sean said ‘hi’ Oh, by the way, he’s ex’s been calling him a lot apparently. You should do something about it.”
                                                       -Hotch-
Your head hurt. A lot. You shouldn’t have had so many drinks last night. But you did anyway and now you’re having the consequence. Bugger. Right now, you needed water. Without looking around, you headed out to get water. You could smell something delicious, but you ignored your grumbling stomach for now. Before you could reach the refrigerator, someone handed a cup of ice-cold water to you.
“Thank you,” you mumbled as you swallowed the cold water whole.
“Feel alright?”
“Nah ah.” Then you spat your water in a comical way and stared at Aaron. “What’re you doing here?”
“I thought this was my home,” Aaron said plainly as he grabbed a rag to clean the water.
Grabbing your throbbing head inwardly, you quickly looked around your surroundings. Especially several child’s drawings on the refrigerator caught your eyes. Jack’s drawings were attached proudly on the metallic surface, and one of them was Henry’s birthday drawing for Aaron.
“Sean called me, and I brought you here.”
You sat on the stool, your hands on the bench looking at your boyfriend. “Sean?”
“The bartender. He’s my brother.” If water was in your mouth, you would’ve spat it again. This time Aaron laughed at your face. “I didn’t know he was working as a bartender there. Bet he was shocked when he saw my picture on your phone.” Your first impression to your boyfriend’s brother became drunken you. Fuck. You could feel your face going hot with heat. “Don’t worry about it. Sean’s another topic for now. You’ve been getting calls from your ex, I hear?” He casually turned and moved fried eggs from the pan to a white plate.
“I, what? How?”
He devilishly smiled at your grumbling stomach. “I will set some rules for you, F/N. You can eat after if you agree my rules.”
You looked at Aaron and the food back and forth. Aaron wouldn’t do anything to harm you or do something bad, unlike your ex. You trusted Aaron. “Okay…?” You agreed hastily.
“Now, block the number. Don’t answer him.” Aaron put the plate in front of you.
“I’ve heard that a couple times last night already.”
“Well, they did give you a good advice then.” He moved back to get a fork for you. “And if he comes to your home, call me and don’t ever let him enter your house.” He placed the fork on the plate and grabbed your chin lightly. “Finally, don’t be his friend.”
“Aaron...”
“I don’t profile my family or friends, but it comes to natural for me. I can’t stop myself from picking a hint or two. He’s not worth it and forget about him. I can’t be there for you all the time, but I’ll protect you with my life. I won’t let you get hurt because of some guy.”
You shook your head, huffing out a little laughter. “You sound like jealous.”
“Wouldn’t I be when I heard your ex’s been calling you and you couldn’t block the number and became drunk?”
“I don’t intend to run away from you.”
He cupped your face and kissed you, his tongue gently sweeping over your wet lips from the water. He pulled away with a satisfied smile. “Good.”

A Slice of Happiness Part 2
Including Katherine Tudor by @ellielovesdrawing and Sibylle of Cleves by @blackdiamondwrites127
T/W: Mild Language, Hint of Violence, and Mention of Guilt and Past Abuse
The next day Ann decide to drop by Tudor Rose before going to work to see if Kath sell that dessert. She step into the building as the door chimed and walk to the counter. Kath step out and said " Welcome to.. oh hey Ann, what brings you here? Going to buy those tarts again?" Ann shook her head and respond " Not today. I'm here to see if you sell a dessert called tiramisu and how much it would cost?" Kath cross her arms and answer Ann" I do, but that would be a custom order, since I usually sell them whole and can only last for a few days. Would that be okay with you?" Ann though about it and wonder if it was worth it. True, she was interested on trying it, but she knew she isn't going to finish it all by herself. Kath saw Ann was thinking and told her " Wait here" She soon went to back of the kitchen to grab some baking pans and came back to the front where Ann was. She place the pans on the counter and explain " Normally it comes in the size" As she point to the large pan, then she point to smaller one and said " But I could make it this size so it easier for you to finish it. Ibby told me how much you're not a dessert person. Plus I would only charge you half the price of a regular size one. Would this work?" Ann saw this was perfect for her and nodded at Kath for approval. Kath smiled and said " Great, let's go ring this up, so I can work on it as soon as I can and will be ready by the end of the day." They both head to the register and Ann pull money out to pay for the dessert. Once the transaction was done, Kath gave Ann the receipt and told her " Thank you for shopping today. Hope to see you soon." Ann nodded and head out the bakery to head to work.
As the sun had set and evening was upon London, Ann manage closed up her shop for the day. She had hectic day with last minute orders, people coming in and out, and someone deciding to show up close to closing time to ask her about what was best time of computer for them. After talking to them for almost a hour, Ann mange to take care them and had a satisfied customer. Ann soon closed up everything and got her things so she can go home. She locked the door to her shop when she remembered about her bakery order. She check the time and saw it was pass business hour for Kath, which means she would have to stop by tomorrow. Ann sighed and was about to head out when she heard " Hey Ann" She turn around and saw Sibylle walking to her carrying a covered pan in her hands. Sibylle stop in front of Ann and said " Kath told me that you stopped by the bakery this morning and order something. When she didn't see you come in yet to pick it up, I offered to take it to you since I figure you got caught up with work, which by the look of it seems to be the case." Ann scratch behind her neck and answer " Yeah. It was kind of crazy today and dealt with a last minute customer. I'm sorry that I made Kath worried and made you walk here. I was planning to pick up tomorrow, since I knew she would be closed now." Sibylle shook her head and told Ann " You didn't make me do anything, Ann. I was the one who offered and chose to walk here. You don't need to apologize." Ann put her hand down still feeling a little bad that Sibylle did walk across the city for her and said " If you say so, anyway, thanks for coming to deliver this to me then." Ann open her hands to take the pan from Sibylle and Sibylle gave it to her soon after. Ann look at the pan and said " Well, I better get home. I was nice see you, Siby." Ann turn around and start head to her house. As Ann was walking away, Sibylle watch her as she was leaving and got little worried for her. Sibylle may not know much about Ann beside what was told to her, but she knew how dangerous it can be walking alone at night. Sibylle soon follow after her, caught up to her, and asked " Do you live far? I can escort you home, if you want" This cause Ann to stop, turn to Sibylle, which cause her to stop too, and answer her " It's okay. I don't need you to do that and take up more of your time. You did enough already by delivering this to me. I'm used to walking home by myself." Ann smiled and said " Plus I don't live that far. It's takes about thirty minutes to get home. Thanks for the offer though."
As soon as Ann turn around to head home, she accidentally bump into someone, which resulted the covered pan being push against her chest and had some liquid splash on her face and clothes. Ann step back and was ready to apologize when she saw who it was. It was the older man from the restaurant yesterday. Ann thought to herself "Crap" The man stumble a little after the hit and yelled " Watch where you .... oh, its you. What the hell you're doing here? Trying to start more trouble with me." Ann could tell this man had been drinking due to smell he was giving off and what was on her. Ann fixed herself and answered in calm voice " No, I was just trying to get home. If you excuse me" Ann walk pass him and was on her way when he grab on to one of her arms from behind, pulled her a little, and said " Where the hell are you going? You owe me a brand new drink and apology. It's the least you can for fucking with my meal yesterday." Ann was ready to get him off her when Sibylle grab one of the the guy shoulders and said all serious" Would you kindly get your hand off her?" The guy turn his head to see Sibylle, which cause him to let go of Ann, turn his body, and yelled " Who the hell are you? This has nothing to do with you. Mind your damn business." Sibylle raise her eyebrow and answer seriously " It is when you are grabbing one my friends and demand her to buy you a drink when it's was an accident. " The man looked at Ann then to Sibylle and responded " Your other friend wasn't good enough for you, so you decide to ditch her and make friends with a brute. What a good friend you make? I bet you're this awful person who manipulated them on being your friend to only abandon them when they outlived there use or the ones that hide behind them, so they protect you to only see how pathetic you. You cowardly heartless bitch." This stung Ann internally since it brought back memories of both her past and current life. Ann tensing up a little and trying her best not let this bother her. Sibylle got little annoy listening to this man, notices Ann reaction to his words, and spoke " I don't care what you call me, Arschloch, but when you start calling my family and friends names is where I draw the line. I want you to get the hell out here or I will make you regret it." The older man look at Sibylle and reply " What are you going to do? Hit me? The moment you do, the bobby will arrest you and take you away." Sibylle then answer " You think I care if they come. I'll..." Ann yelled "Stop"
Both of them had turn their head to Ann and Ann try to calm herself down. This has gone on for far too long and Ann was tired of it. She doesn't want Sibylle to get in trouble and get arrested because of her. She already feel bad that she got Sibylle involved in this and would hate herself if that did happen, because it only remind her how weak she was. Ann continue " I have no problem giving you the money for the drink, but I'm not apologizing for what I did at the restaurant. You were treating the staff like crap and try to walk out paying your bill because you didn't read a sign that they were currently only taking cash." This upset the man and yelled at Ann " I can treat anyone whoever hell I want and nobody going to change that." Without any warning, the man jab Sibylle in the stomach with his elbow to make her let go of him and said as he looked directly at Ann "And I will make you apologize to me. No matter what it takes." He soon rose up his fist as he tighten it and threw a punch to hit Ann. Ann saw this and knew she couldn't block it due to her hands be used to carry the pan or wasn't fast enough to dodge it, so she just closed her eyes and brace herself for the impact, but it didn't happen.
Ann slowly open her eyes and saw the older man being arrested by an young officer while being lean against the wall as the man was yelling " What the hell are you doing? Get off of me. Damn it" A police vehicle soon drove by and come a complete stop next to Ann. Another officer then came of it, walk up to Ann, and said " Looks like we made in time. Sorry for being late. Someone call in for a noise complain and my partner decided to jump out of the car when they saw this man hit your tall friend and ready to strike you. Are you okay?" Ann nodded and answer " I'm fine, but I think my friend may have got hurt." Sibylle walk to Ann and told her " I'm fine. Got surprised for what he did, but it didn't hurt at all." The officer heard this and said " That's good. At least we don't have to call a paramedics for this. Let me check on with my partner and we will take the man in." The young officer took the man off the wall and was guiding him to the car, but not before he started yelling " Let go of me, you fucking idiot. I didn't noting wrong." The other officer replied as they watch the man lead to the car " Really now? So we didn't see you hit the tall woman and ready to attack this girl. Let's not add that you are intoxicated in public, causing public disturbance, and had witness testimony saying that you already assaulted her by grabbing her as she was leaving while hearing you threatening her. You're going to spend some time in custody." The young officer then put the man in the back seat of the car still detain and the man still yelled " Don't you know who I am. I can have your jobs for this. I will make sure you don't ever work again. I'm..." The young officer shut door on him before he can finish and walk to the other officer. They talk among themselves for a bit before heading to Ann and Sibylle and ask them " Well, that take care of that problem. Sorry that this man had interrupted your evening. All we need is some information and we will be on our way."
After exchanging info and explaining what happen, both officers had what they needed and went on their way. They got in the car still hearing the older man yelling and drove away to take the man to the station. Once they left, Ann look down to the ground still feeling bad that she got Sibylle in this mess and was ready to leave. Sibylle notice this and ask her " Are you okay?" Ann nodded and said " Yeah. It just i'm sorry that this happened. I got you hurt and you got involved with something that you have no part in." Sibylle sighed and told her " Ann, this isn't your fault. You try to walk away from it and the guy didn't leave you alone. In fact, he would of continue to bothering you until he either hit you or you apologize to him, which by the way it look, you were in the right not to. Also he didn't even injured me at all. True, I didn't think he would try something like that, but that just it. And I would of taken any punch he was going to give to you, because we are friends." Ann felt a little better hearing this and said " Thanks" Sibylle answer back " It's no problem" Sibylle then told Ann " Also I should be thanking you." Ann looked confused and Sibylle explained " Because if you didn't interrupt us, I would of got more angry by the man to the point where may have hit him and the officers would of arrest me too. You save me from getting in trouble, so I like to say thanks." Ann smiled and said " It was nothing"
Sibylle soon turn her body and said " Let's go" Ann nodded and was started walking when Sibylle ask " Where are you going?" Ann stopped, look at her, and answer "Home?" Sibylle walk up to Ann and reply " After what just happened, you are certainly not. It's already late and I'm not going to let you walk alone for you get attacked by another drunk person. You're going to my place to change and stay there for the night." Ann was took back from this and said " You don't have to do that. It's fine. My home isn't too far from here. As I said, I use to going home alone" Sibylle looked dead serious at Ann and told her " This isn't up for discussion. You're going to follow me and stay at my place. It's not that far from here and Kath told me that your order need to be refrigerated, so considering that the time I walk to your shop and the trouble we delt with, your order isn't going to be good to eat by the time you get to your house." Ann check the pan and did feel it was started to get little warm. Ann didn't know what to do. She already inconvenience Sibylle by her delivering the order to her in person and got caught up in the mess with that man. On the other hand, she didn't want her order to get spoiled, which she been looking forward too and need to clean herself from the alcohol that spill all over her. Sibylle saw Ann was thinking about this and said to her in a concen tone " Please Ann, I don't want anything bad happen to you. I can't let my friend get hurt knowing that I could of stop it from happening." Ann cave in and said " Fine, I'll follow you and stay at your place for the night."
This made Sibylle glad when she heard this and started walking indicating to Ann to follow her. Sibylle then told Ann "Thank you. Now, I'm going to call Kath to let her know about your arrival, so she can get you some clothes to change into by the time we get there." Sibylle took out her phone out, dial the number, and put on her ear as they were walking. After a few rings, Kath answer " Ibby, are you okay? Where are you? It's started to get late and I was worry that something may had happened to you." Sibylle told Kath " I'm okay. I deliver the order to Ann and I'm currently with her. We had a small altercation with someone, but everything is okay and on my way home." Kath sighed when she heard this and said " That's good to hear. Hope to see you soon." Sibylle then said " Hey Kath, can you get some spare clothes out when I get there and the spare room ready?" Kath ask " Why?" Sibylle answer " I'll tell you when I get home, but Ann going to spend the night with us and she need a change of clothes, if that okay with you" Kath got little worry and reply " Okay, I can do that and yes, she stay the night here." Sibylle smile and said " Thanks babe. See you soon." Sibylle soon hang up and put her phone away. Ann didn't pay much attention on what Sibylle was talking to as they were walking. Ann had other things on her mind and wondering if it was really okay for her to go. She already been a burden to Sibylle so far this evening and didn't want to add more to it. Sibylle could see Ann uncertainty and told her " Relax Ann, this is not a big deal to us. Kath likes it when we have company over, so she has someone to talk to outside of work. Plus Kath would love to see your reaction when you taste your order, since she does put a lot of work into what she makes." This made Ann a little better, but not by much. They soon were walking next to each other and made their way to Sibylle place.

🥞☕brunch café owner! jin☕🥞
Tumblr media
tw: a tiny mention of anxiety and shitty people that you may have encountered in school / uni ( but a lot of fluff to make up for it! )
- so far, your day was a complete catastrophe, im not even gonna tone it down, it was a complete shitshow to be honest
-it was like god woke up and went "i’m gonna let y/n have a shit day lmaoo"
-you overslept and missed your bus... on the day you had an appointment with your lecturer about your term paper
- after tripping on the stairs and hitting your knee, you hobbled to the office where this gollum lookalike was already waiting for you
- your lecturer was unreasonable enough to not let you extend your deadline for your paper... the one book you needed wasn't in the library for the past 3 weeks and there was no other edition available. so you explained the situation multiple times even at the beginning of your writing process, you even wrote him mails to explain the issue
- but this man who literally radiated boomer energy with every particle of his being really had the audacity to not answer, not even to your second mail and then he actually said that he does not understand "how someone of your age doesn't manage to even get a simple task as writing a paper" done
-you explained the situation again but he was pretty much tone-deaf to your situation and didn't even care when you said that you're actually gonna go to the library now to get the book scans
- so you went there already drained and exhausted from that conversation
-but the library was an even worse experience tbh .......
[fic mode: on, hohoho]
The lady in the library yelled at you for no apparent reason after you informed her that the scanner wasn't working and made you look stupid in front of other students who were there until one of them intervened and helped you out, which you appreciated. But this whole situation grew even worse on you after you left the library because your anxiety kicked in. You went straight into a quiet alley nearby and started crying quietly. "But hey!" you then exclaimed angrily, while wiping away your tears "At least the paper is gonna get done, right?! because who gives a shit about mental health and all huh, Mr. Go?!" and you started sobbing again. "Dickhead... And that stupid library lady... with her stupid fat 80s glasses. And her ugly yeehaw look...". This was something you wouldn't ever do in public, crying and ranting that is. but the alley was quiet, your only company was a stray cat that was sleeping underneath a tree's shadow. or so you thought. "Ugly yeehaw people and their ugly ass clothes, like... go read a magazine or something...". You started feeling more liberated with each mild insult you'd utter, so you went on. "Ugly library lady and her giant wart, like who the fuck are you? yubaba?" you heard someone snort and start laughing a squeaky laugh that almost sounded like a windshield wiper. Taken aback by the unexpected witness to your mild breakdown, you stood still at first, then looked around, left and right, but you couldn't see anyone. "Over here!" you heard someone say. You looked around again and sighed when you still couldn't see anyone. "Did I finally lose my mind?" you mumbled to yourself, only to hear the squeaky laugh again. "Hey! Turn around and look up!". You got up the bench and did as you were told by the omnipresent voice and finally saw the person it belonged to. Up at the 1st floor, there was a guy looking down to you from his tiny balcony that had plants hanging down from it. He smiled at you when your eyes met and you felt your heart rate go up in an instant, as you realized this stranger, this awfully handsome stranger witnessed how your petty little rant and crying about yubaba's twin in the library. "Tough day, huh?" he asked, you just nodded and quickly wiped your face with your sleeve. "Oh no, hold on" he mumbled and suddenly disappeared from his window, leaving you behind with a surprised look on your face. A box of Kleenex suddenly landed in front of your feet, as he reappeared at his window. "Just one would have done it, too, but thank you. I appreciate it!" you said and smiled at the guy. While you wiped your face, you heard another something land on the bench. You looked up again to the guy who, all of a sudden, avoided your gaze. "That'll help, you know..." he said and looked at you in surprise when you started laughing. What he threw on the bench was a... bar of chocolate. One that also happened to be your favourite. You looked at him and gave him a huge smile that made his heart flutter. He looked away shyly and scratched his head. "Tough day, yeah... but this right here," you raised the chocolate bar, "this makes it all better, you're right about that. Thank you!" The stranger couldn't help but look at you once again. He almost felt compelled to it. It was like staring at the sun when it sets, you know that you shouldn't stare at it directly, but it's so breathtakingly beautiful that you can't help but look. He intently watched you while you happily munched on your chocolate and smiled to himself. "What's your name?" he asked you. "Y/N! How about you?" - "I'm Seokjin. You can call me Jin..." - "Nice to meet you, Jin. I wish it would have been under different circumstances, though. I'm actually quite embarrassed about that, but chocolate helps with that, too." You two smiled at each other. "You know what, Y/N? Sometimes good things happen at weird times. Don't be embarrassed about crying earlier. I'm the last person who'd judge you because of that. I know that library witch, by the way... That Yubaba comparison was spot on!" You laughed out loud - he very much wished to hear this sound more often now. "Y/N, I gotta get ready for work now. But I'm gonna share one last bit of wisdom with you. I know a good remedy for bad days." - "Better than chocolate?" - "Oh, yes. Even better than chocolate. There's a café in XX street. There's a whole lot of lavender growing right in front of it, you can't miss it. That cafe has the best pancakes in the entire city." - Oh my god, pancakes are the best thing on earth!" - "(!!!) You must go there and try then! They're fluffy and come in 5 different variations and the sweetest maple syrup! I'm telling you, if you have a bad day like this again, go straight to that café." He already got you at pancakes, so you definitely would go there. "I'll finish this damn paper and then go reward myself with pancakes! In one or two weeks I'll get like 2 plates of pancakes then!" - "That sounds perfect!", he laughed. Shortly after, he excused himself and you two bid farewell. He disappeared from his window and your troubles had disappeared from your soul. You went home with a smile on your face, thankful for the kindness he had shown you and hoped that you would see him in the café some day. "Who knows... Maybe he's a regular there. It sounded like it."
~
Roughly one and a half weeks later, many all nighters and a whole lot of take out food, you finished the paper and handed it in. Liberated from this massive pain in the ass, you went straight to the café that your thoughts circled around during the times you weren't busy with your paper. "God, I hope he's there...", you thought and thought of Jin, who you thought about as much as you dreamed of the huge plate of pancakes you were going to get now. The café was not very far from where you lived, you walked there in about 15 minutes and recognised the place by a very accurate description Jin has given you. The smell of lavender bewitched you as soon as you stepped into the alley the café was in. Lots of flower pots were in the front of it, not only was there lavender but also gardenias and petunias. The flowers were all around the tables outside. "Of course, the flower boy loves the flower café" you said to yourself and smiled. The café wasn't too busy, as you came by at a rather early hour, when there were still lectures for most students and older people were busy at the local market place. You were greeted right away when you entered the café, by a younger man, probably also a fellow student, who was wearing an apron and gave you a warm welcome with his bunny smile. He showed you to your table at the window side from where you could watch bees hurdle at the lavender pots outside. You ordered shortly after, it didn't take much thinking when you saw the "Eat the stress away" menu, with regular pancakes, hashbrowns and a tea/coffee option. "Excellent choice! It's my personal favourite~", your waiter added. You glanced at each other. "Fellow student?" you asked and laughed when he suddenly looked at you with a gloomy look, but joined you in laughter right away. "Shared struggle", he said laughing, leaned over real quick and whispered: "I'll get you some blueberry pancakes, too. I'll tell the chef you're a friend of mine." - "Oh my god, thank you!" He winked and went straight to the kitchen, while humming a tune. Well, this was certainly the sweetest waiter you'd ever encountered. But you had your eyes on the door, hoping for a divine intervention that would lead to Jin coincidentally walk into the café when you were there. Around 15 minutes later you finally sipped on your coffee and were about to devour the fluffiest pancakes you'd ever had on a plate in front of you. The hash browns were a tad bit disappointing, as they had a slighty burnt taste and weren't spiced very well, in your opinion. But the pancakes were absolutely amazing. Their soft and fluffy texture was  complemented with butter and the sticky-sweet maple syrup that as truly as good as Jin said. And the blueberry pancakes were so good that you feared losing control over your facial expressions. Your waiter came along to your table, after he got the newest customer orders to the kitchen. You invited him to sit with you, which he gladly accepted. "How do you like it? They're really good, right?" - "I think this is what the kids call 'foodgasm'...", you answered and the two of you giggled. He looked at your plate and noticed the hash browns that you put at the edge of your plate. "Oh? Didn't like the hash browns?" he asked with wide eyes.
"They're slightly burnt, I think..." you said shyly. You were never one to criticize the cook when you didn't like your food in a restaurant. The only time when you actually complained was when you once found hair in your soup in a restaurant, and even back then you apologised for the trouble whereas it was clearly the chef who was at fault. "Please don't tell anyone, this can happen sometimes, I accept that." you quickly added, but your waiter shook his head ferociously. "You paid for this, so it is our duty to bring good food to your table. Our chef is a perfectionist, I don't understand how this can happen anyway. I'll get it sorted out, but not without teasing him. Can you wait a little until the customers are gone here. We close for lunch time. So people are gonna leave soon." You agreed and waited, while befriending the waiter - Jungkook, a 2nd year student who was currently doing a side job at "Café Smeraldo". After the last customer left, Jungkook decided to call the chef by yelling across the café. "He's also the manager you know. We're a bit short-staffed, you know... This is gonna be funny~~ JIN-HYUNG!" You almost spat out your coffee and started coughing as soon as you heard that name. "JIN-HYUNG COME OUT OF YOUR BUREAU! YOU BURNT A CUSTOMER'S FOOD!" He cackled after he heard noise coming from inside, while you sat there mortified. The door from the staff room slammed open and you instantly wished to turn into dust, as said manager/chef was the guy who consoled you on one of the worst days you've had in your academic life. The two of you stared at each other in shock, but before he could say anything to you he started scolding his younger co-worker and the two of them started bickering, while you continued sipping on your coffee, because this whole situation was soon more entertaining than it was mortifying. At some point Jin shushed Jungkook who shut up right away when he realized that this wasn't playful bickering anymore. Jungkook bowed deeply and went to the kitchen where he started cleaning. "You're friends with the boy?" Jin asked and sat down at your table. He looked tired, you thought. "No, actually we met earlier, but I suppose we just clicked very fast." - "So this kid got you my famous blueberry pancakes on the house, huh?" - "...I guess so. Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause you trouble. I really didn't want him to say anything about the hash browns either." He quickly glanced at them and grabbed one to take a bite, but put it down again before doing so. "I can see it already", he said "you don't need to apologise, it's my bad." He sat there with a gloomy expression and sighed. "Tough day, huh?" you asked and smiled at him when he laughed at your reference. "Tough week is more like it. We're a bit short-staffed at the moment. But enough of me and my manager melancholy. Finished your paper?" You were surprised by his sudden change, but you went along. "Yeah, I turned it in earlier and came here right after. I gave you my word after all." You smiled at him, and he felt the same rush that he had experienced the day he first met you. You continued: "You were right, by the way. These pancakes are everything!! Especially the blueberry ones. Is that your recipe?" He laughed and nodded. "I'm glad you liked them!" he said. "I'll serve you better hash browns the next time, pinky promise. I got a phone call while preparing 3 orders, yours was the only one that suffered from it." - "It happens sometimes. Don't dwell on something so minor." - "Says you, who cried beneath my balcony because of some witch!" The two of you giggled. He looked at you with a look, that made your cheeks burn. His gaze was fond and soft, it was the kind of look you have whenever the sky looks pretty, or when a bird lands near you and sings a little song. Neither of you could break the look you shared, as neither of you could describe a bond that was apparently now formed with chocolate and pancakes. It was him who spoke up first: "Got room for more pancakes?". This question took you by surprise, but pancakes are always a welcome surprise. "Hell yeah, you can never have enough pancakes." - "I need more proof for that, but based on that sentence alone I can say that we may be soulmates, Y/N." You started laughing, as did he. "But why? What do you have in mind? Also, I'm surprised you still remember my name." His cheeks got a very apparent pink hue after your remark and you noticed how grossly you were endeared by this man. "Y/N... How could I forget..." he said with a low voice that made your heart flutter. "How could I forget someone who made me believe there was a banshee at my door for a solid minute!" He broke out in his loud and squeaky laughter as soon as he saw the pure offence and shock on your face, after he said that, because *that* was certainly not what you expected to hear.  "You're mean, oh my god!" you exclaimed but had to laugh, too. You guys needed two minutes to calm down again. The pink hue on his face was still there and you felt the rush of confidence in you. He noticed you looking at him and spoke up:
"Y/N... How could I forget someone who has made me smile on a day I didn't feel like smiling at all? I got the news my cook had to quit on the day we met. I thought this was the end for my café. But then, I met you, shortly after I got the news. And seeing you going from crying to happily munching on some chocolate despite having issues that made you cry in public in the first place... Seeing you forgetting your troubles with something so small as a chocolate bar. I don't know... I felt hopeful for some reason. And I love this feeling. And, god... I really hoped you'd take my advice and come here to have my pancakes! (he chuckled) But I have to admit something... I so regretted not asking for your number. For the past week I jumped through the kitchen door everytime a customer came in...". You were pretty sure your heart was soon gonna explode through your chest. He hid his face with his hands and sighed. "I'm not like this at all~" he whined, before facing you again. "But... How about I make us some more pancakes now? And hash browns, if you like. I haven't had breakfast yet and well... I really want to make you pancakes. Can I?" His voice became thinner with each sentence he added, since he came shyer with each bit. You chuckled, in disbelief about how your rapidly beating heart became so calm, yet so full when this man told you he wanted to make you pancakes. No nervosity whatsoever, no second thoughts, nothing. An epiphany over pancakes... Who would have thought? This was safe. This was a safe place for both of you, and both of you felt it.
"A breakfast date then?"
"Breakfast date it is."
"I like the sound of that."
💕
epilogue:
-you two enter the kitchen after you insisted on watching him cook for you-
jk: hyu- oh, hi y/n! you guys know each other? ah hyung, i cleaned up everything and tidied up in the bureau. i'm sorry about earlier. (bows again and stands there shyly)
jin: (sighs very deeply) come here, you dodo.
the two of them shared a short but sweet hug, after which jungkook had a huge smile on his face again. jin and you shared a look and the same thought as you looked at jungkook after.
jin: jk, you wanna have pancakes with us?
jk: huh? yeah sure, i'm actually pretty hungry... (he smiles at you two) I'll go clean up inside real quick and prepare the table! yayy, pancake brunch with friends ☺️ (he leaves you two in the kitchen)
you turned to jin and smiled. "don't even start." he said quickly, while he started getting the ingredients out. "AWWW~~" - "NOOO!"

“So, I know I might sound like an entitled douchebag,” the blonde hair, blue eyed guy began. Oh, you think, you thought as you took a sip from what could be your tenth glass of rosé for the night. “But my dad really went off to Italy with some twenty year old and left me his goddamn company to run.”
The guy, Ken, who was your blind date, feigned a groan before chuckling to himself. His eyes slowed into a close as his left hand - a Piaget watch on his wrist - collided onto his chest, knuckles thumping into his perfect, creaseless white button up. His laugh rang in your ears, causing a bitterness in your mouth. God, please just end me, you thought. You took another sip, the softness of the rosé coated your tongue gently. The sweetness of the alcohol glided down your throat magnificently and it almost made you forget that Ken was here. Up until he opened his mouth again.
“I mean I’m not complaining,” he sighed happily, swinging his wrist obnoxiously. Your lips tightened into a smile as you slightly tilted your empty glass at him. I should get another drink before he yammers again, you thought. You breathed in deeply, eyeing everyone in the restaurant. An old couple sat in a booth just across from you caught your attention. One of the old women - a sweet lady with round, pink glasses - had her head pressed against the cheek of her partner’s. Her partner - grey hair tied up in a tight bun - had scooped a piece of cake and was about to eat it, when ‘pink glasses’ swooped in and took a bite of it. Their laughter warmed your heart, relieving you from the tightness on your chest. You audibly sighed and wished you had what they have.
But instead, you were stuck with Ken whose personality and looks matched teeth to teeth with his name. You were going to kill your best friend for setting you up with the biggest asshole on Earth. Every time you tried to talk about yourself, he would somehow manage to direct it back to him. He even answered the questions he asked you as if, somehow, he was the director of your life. It has been two full hours of him talking about himself and all you wanted to do was rip your hair apart. You knew he was too good to be true when your best friend listed all the good qualities he had - mostly that he was good looking and was the CEO of Piaget - and mentioned that he wanted to bring you out for dinner. And of course, you said yes because your two previous blind dates went horribly and you believed that third time’s a charm. Third time’s a charm my ass, you thought as an uncomfortably warm feeling knitted at your chest.
“I got a pretty good gig with an office located on the top floor of the highest building,” he was still talking as you leaned forward, feigning interest. Just as you were about to nod, a person wearing a pair of black trousers flashed past you. In a quick motion, you grabbed the person by the arm and tugged them towards you. Ken was lounging on the wooden chair like it was his office, only to be cut abruptly by your sudden movement. “Damn, you’re missing out on the view. An-”
“Um, sir, waiter, sir,” you began, tripping on your words. Your tongue felt heavy and your eyelids were beginning to droop. Maybe you shouldn’t, you thought. Too late. The words had already fallen off your lips before you could close them. “Could I get one more glass of rosé?”
The waiter eyed Ken as Ken had a smug smile plastered on his face and he shook his head. His eyes fell on you and you swore you could see his forehead softened with pity before nodding.
“Alright, Miss, I’ll be right back,” he said, gesturing his head to where your hand was tightly clasped on his arm. A harsh warmth struck abruptly to your cheeks and you quickly removed your hand from the waiter’s arm, watching as he left and you awaited for hope to come back to you.
“Alright, where was I? Oh yeah,” your mind could no longer grasp whatever he was about to say so you sat back against the cool wood and allowed yourself to be distracted by everything else that was going on. You searched for the old couple who were sitting across from you but all that was left, was an empty booth which was now sparkling clean. You were about to sulk when a crow of laughter rang noisily in your ears. Your eyes followed to where it came from and landed on a group of - drunk - women gathering at the bar opposite of where you were sitting.
They were laughing in unison and clinking their glasses together but what made you curious was the way they were positioned; everyone was facing to their right. Their empty hands were practically fanning their faces and some were chewing on their lips. Curiosity got the best of you and you looked to the right to see a man in black - dark hair gelled neatly to the right - shaking a metal cocktail shaker up in the air. You couldn’t see clearly but from where you were sitting, you could see his beautifully sculpted broad shoulders. The way his shirt was practically about to rip apart had your knees wobbly. As he continued to shake the shaker, his biceps flexed and a vein popped out, causing your stomach to knot. The group of women screamed at this and giggled ever so loudly. He grinned at them, loving the attention.
“You should do a shot with us,” one of the women yelled and you watched as the bartender smiled sheepishly and waved his hand at them, trying to say no. They were persistent though; pounding on the wooden counter and chanting for him to take a shot with them. The bartender poured the shaken drink into a cocktail glass and served a guest while the ladies incessantly banged the counter. He sighed at them, still grinning before reluctantly putting his hands up in surrender. The veins on his hands popped up and a warm feeling trickled down the back of your neck. He grabbed a shot glass and brought up to the group of women, clinking his glass with theirs. “Fuck yes!” They screamed in delight.
“Um, miss?” You were abruptly pulled into reality. You turned to look at the person who had called you, only to realise that it was the waiter with your drink in his gloved hand. You nodded and he placed the drink onto the table. “Thank you,” you muttered with a small smile and brought the glass to your lips.
You wandered back to where the bartender was and watched as he downed his shot. His head was tilted back and a thick vein bulged out on his neck causing you to squeeze tightly around your glass. Feeling a little thirsty, you took a sip just as he bit into a lemon wedge. He pulled away from them and grabbed the plaid towel that was peacefully resting on his shoulder to wipe off the mess on his hands. He was about to serve another customer when the group of women started yelling no at him.
“Another one,” they yelled. His hands were now on his hips and his cheeks were sucked in, jaws clenching at this. He shook his head, but stopped when his eyes met yours. You bit your lip and tilted your glass at him before taking another sip. He raised his eyebrows at you as his lips tilted into a smirk. Now that he was facing you, you could see that he wasn’t entirely clean shaven. C’mon, take another shot, you mouthed, hoping that he could read lips. His eyes darkened at this as he bit the insides of his cheek, now a little smug. This is on you, he mouthed back. You grinned, swirling the glass in your hand.
The bartender licked the back of his hand, eyes still focused on you. The knot in your stomach continued to tighten at this. He salted the wet skin, gaining cheers from his fans before licking it again. The heat was now slowly moving to your ears. He poured himself another shot and clinked his glass with theirs before turning to look at you. Lips curled into a smirk, he topped his glass at your direction and winked at you, making the final blow as he downed his drink. All of them screamed again, before the server came to collect them for their table. Sadness practically rained down on their faces as they followed the server but not before saying goodbye to him. Good riddance, you thought and smiled to yourself.
You chewed on your bottom lip as you shifted your focus back to the handsome bartender. His arms were on the counter as he brought the shot glasses back to the bartending area. His eyes met yours again and he tilted his head to the side, gesturing for you to come to him. You lightly shook your head as your fingers subtly pointed to your date. He playfully rolled his eyes at this and slapped his chest in feign hurt. Ditch him, he mouthed.
You stifled a giggle and was about to respond but waving hands flooded your vision. “Hey, are you even listening?” You blinked away from the bartender to find a red faced Ken staring at you. His eyebrows were knitted together with an obvious frown slapped on his face. Your eyes slowly widened, realising that you had been caught. Not knowing what to do, you nodded your head and took a big gulp of the little liquid left.
“Jeez,” he huffed noisily while gripping the armrest. His frown deepened as he started shaking his head. “How many have you had?”
“About a dozen,” you admitted and he rolled his eyes, huffing once again. “But ‘m not sure.” He clicked his tongue at this and raised his right hand, before snapping his fingers.
“Well, that’s the end of this then,” he said sharply just as the waiter came rushing over with the check. Ken reached for his pocket and took out a thick, brown wallet. Not bothering to take a look at the cost, he dropped off a $500 bill onto the black leather checkbook. The waiter lightly snapped it shut and thanked him before making his way to the cashier. Ken only glared at you as he waited for his change. Swinging his wrist, he looked at his watch and groaned before standing up.
“You’re not waiting for your change?” You quipped as he threw the napkin onto the chair. He took his coat off the back of the chair to put it on. He only shook his head as he straightened out the coat on him and cuffed his wrist. “That’s just rude,” you retorted and narrowed your eyes at him.
Ken turned to look at you, as his arms were now at his hips. His jaws squeezed while his temples tightened. “You just lost your Uber rights, have fun going home alone,” he said bitterly and turned to walk away, his coat flaring up in a dramatic notion. Your chest dropped as your elbows leaned against the table top. Your fingers circled around the brim of the empty glass until you noticed the same bartender behind the counter.
He stood tall, arms crossed against his chest with the towel hanging under his armpits. His face was turned to the side where the door was at. His jaws were clenched tightly and a big bold vein popped across his temple. His nose flared up and if you weren’t tipsy, you’d realise that he was glaring at your date who fled and left you alone. He shook his head and turned away, only to meet your curious eyes. He tilted his head towards, gesturing for you to come over. Very slowly you got up from your seat, and the napkin you had on your lap fell to the floor. In an instant, your hands covered your mouth in shock as fits of giggles escaped your lips.
The couple sitting next to you gave you a dirty look before shaking their heads. You mumbled an apology and bent down - or tried - to pick up the napkin only for your legs to give way and fell onto the pristine floor. Heat spreads onto your cheeks while pain shoots to your butt. You slid your fingers through the side of your hair, pretending that you weren’t embarrassed but the redness of your cheeks showed it all. You sighed softly and picked up the napkin.
“You okay?” A low, mellow voice called out causing you to drop the napkin. You turned to find the voice and was met with a pair of ocean blue eyes; the bluest shade of them all. His eyes were sunken in like a vampire’s or someone who had never slept. You felt your face flushed at how pretty his eyes were and how in this moment, you wished you could drown in them. Up close, you saw the tiny flecks of facial hair growing from his sides and lower border of his chin. You gulped thickly and bobbed your head. The corners of his mouth tilted up into a grin and put his hand out. Without hesitating, you reached out and placed your hands on them for him to yank you up. You straightened out the outfit you wore as he turned his head to the other table. “Nothing to worry about here!” He cleared out, gesturing everyone to turn back to their food.
“Thanks,” you muttered, smiling at him before picking up your purse. You were about to make way to the bar when your knees buckled in. The bartender caught you by your waist and held your hands tightly. “I think it’s best if you held me,” You said, causing him to laugh at this. His deep warm laugh soothed you from the embarrassment you were facing and made you soft and icky in your chest. He walked you to the bar, large hand still on your back as he made sure that you were properly sat onto the bar stools.
“Thank you, again, uhh” you said softly, trying to figure out his name but there wasn’t any name tag on his shirt.
“My name’s Sebastian,” he mentioned, still grinning while he made his way towards the back of the counter. Now standing at the opposite of you, his hands are on the steel countertop while looking at you. “And yours?”
“I’m Y/N,” you introduced yourself as you tucked a strand of loose hair behind your ear. “And not just the girl who embarrassed herself after one of the worst dates in her life.” You smiled wildly, showing your teeth. He clicked his tongue and shook his head.
“You didn’t embarrass yourself, that date of yours was a class A asshole. A guy who leaves a drunk person unattended is a fucking dick,” he grumbled, his voice now lower and strangled. Your fake smile shifted to a small one as your heart lurched. Patchy pinkness bloomed on your face. You chewed on the inside of your cheeks, noticing how he took out of his phone and turned to you. “Want me to book an Uber for you?”
You shook your head but quickly stopped when it began to throb mercilessly. You didn’t want to leave, not when your day was just getting better. Though it had been only a few seconds, you were having fun with the beautiful Sebastian. Your stomach fluttered just thinking about him. “Nah, not yet but I do want a piña colada.”
“As a bartender, I know when someone has reached their limit,” he started as he poured clear liquid into an empty tall glass. “And it is my duty to get you home safely, so,” He sucked in a sharp breath and wiped away a few spilled droplets before placing the tall glass in front of you. “Here’s a glass of water, it will sober you up.”
Your smile quickly changed into a frown and you sat upright, arms crossed against your chest. You shook your head like a grumpy child while he gave you puppy eyes. Wide bright, blue eyes made you all tingly on the inside and in a matter of seconds, you let out a  groan in defeat. “I’ll only drink that if you share stories about your worst dates,” you suggested as your hand moved to grab the cold glass. He silently stood there for a second before propping his elbow on the counter top and leaned forward.
“Deal,” he uttered, fingers tapping intriguingly close to your hands. His lips now slightly pursed with his twinkling eyes on you. Your insides were screaming with glee, trying to rip you apart in happiness while your lips were thinned and your eyes told empty stories. You were immersed with his soft yet mysterious vibes and wanted nothing more to find out about him. “But you have to tell me about yours too.”
Your eyebrows knitted together in dismay. “You just witnessed one of my worst dates,” you declared as your free hand flew upwards. You had not noticed but this caused many heads to turn at your loud voice. You immediately covered your mouth and Sebastian giggled at this. There it is again; that warm giggle fighting all the coldness in your body. “That’s only one of your worst dates! C’mon tell me about the others,” Sebastian begged and clasped his fingers together.
“Fine,” you obliged and leaned forward. Your lips coming close to his face. “You’ll tell me yours, and I’ll tell you mine,” you said before bringing the glass to your lips. “Cheers!” Sebastian watched you downed the entirety of it, impressed that you could chug down that much water. The fact that you did not have a high tolerance boggled his mind.
You wiped your wet hands down on the sides of your clothes and tilted your head at Sebastian, gesturing for him to begin his story. “Alright,” he clapped his hands in excitement. “So, I went on a date with a person I was set up with by a friend. Basically, a blind date because I’ve never met her before. We went to a nice, casual seafood restaurant and I think it didn’t sit right with her. Throughout the date, she kept going back and forth to the washroom and then, after we paid for the meals and said our goodbyes, we hugged just for a second,” your eyes widened as a huge sadistic smile appeared on his face. “And then she pulled away and puked all over my outfit.”
“No fucking way,” you mouthed. A loud gasp left your lips as you leaned backwards. Realising there’s no back to the bar stool, you quickly grabbed onto the countertop to stop yourself from falling. You shook your head, trying to process his story. Sebastian raised his shoulders and gestured his hands upwards, palm facing up as a way to say, ‘it is what it is’. He grabbed your empty glass and filled it with more water.
“If you want a second story, you gotta drink it,” Sebastian urged, placing the drink in front of you once again. This was getting interesting so you downed the second glass of water and gently put the glass back. “Okay, so the second worst date of mine consisted of another blind date and their ex,” he dramatically said as his fingers moved in the air as though he was sprinkling magic dust at you. You leaned in forward, propping your elbows on the counter top. “We were at a small carnival in a suburb. It was autumn so it was chilly and I thought that’s why she was holding my hand and leaning her head against my shoulder. To keep herself warm y’know? But it turns out, her ex was there with his date and she was just trying to get his attention. She had dragged me all over the carnival to follow him and while I was getting drinks for her, she had left me to chase down the guy,” your fingers found their way to your lips.
“And I came back to her making out with him,” you sighed loudly and your hands moved to cover your eyes. You were shaking your head in pity and frustration for him. If he had been your blind date, you wouldn’t be on the floor, drunk off your ass. Why would anyone leave this gorgeous greek god for their ex? Some people, you thought. You lifted your head to watch Sebastian pour you another glass of water, “I don’t know whether I should cry or laugh.”
“You can laugh,” he assured as you took a small gulp of water, knowing that your stomach was hating you for drinking the other two way too fast. He raised his eyebrows at your confusion. “Seriously, you can laugh. These bad dates also made it to my funny story list,” you lightly scoffed and drank the whole glass down. Hands covered your mouth and stifled your burps.
“I just think that your previous dates don’t know what they’re missing out on,” you remarked and breathed in loudly. Sebastian’s head was tilted and a small smile appeared across his face. He breathed in happily and inched his face forward, closing in on you. You could feel his warm breath against your lips and just as you were about to close in on him, he whispers, “Okay, onto the worst date of the millenia,” and then pulled away.
“My uncle set me up with his colleague's daughter, with the date and location all set, so I went to meet her at a restaurant I previously worked at,” he paused what he was doing - wiping glasses with a towel - to check up on you. Your eyes were narrowed with your bottom lip tucked in between your teeth. “You’ll understand why I’m working here and not there anymore later in the story. Anyway, the person seemed lovely but every time I asked about her, she would answer and add something about me. Like for example, I asked her what her favourite food was and she answered it and then asked me whether my favourite food was my favourite food,” you nodded your head slowly, trying to follow his story but it was getting confusing.
“And the stuff that she mentioned weren’t even on any of my socials, so I was kinda confused on how she knew about all these things that were personal to me,” Sebastian was gesturing his hands a lot as he spoke, blue eyes as wild as a tsunami. “Because my uncle wasn’t even close to her or her father. To cut things short, she confessed that she had been following me around since an office party I went to months prior before the date and that’s why she planned for the date to be at the restaurant I worked at previously.”
“Oh my god,” you exhaled loudly, fingers massaging your temples. Before you know it, fits of laughter escape your lips. “Okay, you win the worst dates trophy because that shit is top tier!”
“I’m glad I’m making you laugh,” he teased, making you shut your lips but failed to do so as your laugh abruptly came off your lips. Just as you were about to ask him for another story, one of his co-workers came out to the bar area and yelled, “Last call!”
You sighed while moving your tired feet in circles, checking if they were okay to start walking. No longer feeling dizzy, you took out your phone and ordered your Uber. “Okay I think that’s my cue to leave”, you muttered only for Sebastian to quickly grab your arm gently. This made you face up and stare into his puppy dog eyes. His lips pouted slightly and his ocean eyes were gleaming.
“Don’t go,” he pleaded and squeezed your arm. “You promised me answers.”
Heat rushed to your cheeks as your heartbeat fluttered at his touch. Your lips curled upwards and you were dying trying not to pull on them. Slowly, you removed his hand from you and tilted it so that his arm was facing up. You grabbed a marker from his shirt pocket on his firm chest and started scribbling your numbers on his skin.
“Maybe I’ll tell you my stories over dinner,” you hinted, your shy smile now shifted into a teasing one. You turned to look at him and before you knew it, you were pulling him in by his shirt. Your lips grazed his before you closed in to leave a gentle kiss to his plump lips. As you pulled away, the feeling of his lips lingered on yours; he tasted like lime and tequila. You gave him a grin and a bing popped from your phone, indicating that your Uber was here. “See you soon, Sebastian.”
With that you head home for the night, with a text from Sebastian on your phone.
