cw: fantasy!au shoto x princess!reader, implied quasi-arranged marriage, some place names i made up for my au <3
Court ladies, particularly the ones that are of your age, marriage-eligible and plagued by thoughts of wedded bliss, are notorious for embellishing stories. Especially those that concern men, especially those that concern those rich and powerful men, and most of all those who are thought to be blessed with powerful magic.
The prince who hails from the Terras Magi far away, whose personal history already sounds like the stuff of fairytales, is one of these bountiful sources of mystery and fantasy. Third in line to the throne after the original crown prince of their hidden kingdom went mad and after the second prince disappeared into the night, the mage prince is thought to have strategically kept himself hidden away from the remainder of the continent, declining to partake in the many royal conferences held over the year. Few have seen him in the flesh, aside from the reported occasional meetings with prince Bakugou of the highlands, who somewhat begrudgingly claims to be his friend.
However, that changes tonight. You will meet him, and you are expected to charm him, as princess of Phulblume, to consider forge a stronger alliance with that part of the world that has remained closed off and uninterested in the much more mortal remainder -
and there is no greater alliance than matrimony.
Yet,  the thought of courtship tires you immensely. You’ve been in love before, and lost it, accepting that a relationship between a future Queen and her Knight would cause more harm than good; your previously furtive glances, held too long across the court of flowers, have now been reduced to averse, split second looks. You cannot bear to lay eyes on him and neither can he on you.
Love is laid to rest, and you expect not to be impressed by another man ever again.
And yet, the mage prince is everything you’d heard and more.
The prince arrives with his older sister in tow, who watches him carefully, not to protect him but as though to mind his manners for him. He bows before the throne where your father and mother sit, where you stand in polite wait and then curtsy.
As he introduces himself to the court, you find yourself waiting for him to look at you. He doesn’t immediately, and you notice the red and white of his hair, starker in contrast to his sister’s gently swept locks. She is radiant despite the gentle frost that follows her, and it is reminiscent of the first snow of the season, the kind that is too gentle to accumulate but warns you that storms may approach soon. She turns to you and smiles, and you curtsy politely, your cheeks warming.
Then he turns, as though instinctively following his sister’s lead, and he sees you. There is a split second of hesitation as your eyes meet. He forgets to bow and you forget to curtsy, perhaps because you are both feeling out each other with your souls.
You are earth and he is both water and flame.
You catch yourself first, starting your curtsy, and he takes your hand and bows deeply, his eyes falling to the ground at your feet.
“I am pleased to meet you, your Highness.”
The pleasure is all mine, you think and forget to say. His voice reminds you of the gentle crackle of firewood on cold nights as a child, sat comfortably in the lap of your mother as she reads your favorite book.
His sister watches carefully, and you think of morning dew.
“I am glad you have arrived safely,” you can hear your father, the King, announce. Prince Shoto has not stopped looking at you, although your gloved fingers no longer touch. Princess Fuyumi nudges him gently, then speaks first.
“We are thankful to have been invited to your kingdom on behalf of our country,” she cuts in when Shoto remains mute. He seems to snap back into attention at the sound of her voice. He nods.
“We look forward to tonight’s gala and to what you have to show us in Phulblume,” he adds.
He glances at you again, and you look away, your face warming, and wonder if it’s his magic, or something else.

❥ · ゚₊ You sailed the seas with your cover up flag raised high in the winds. yes you were a pirate, yes this was your ship, and yes this was your crew. now you didn't steal a treasure or anything like that, it was more of a crew made just to protect the outskirts of land from pirates with really foul intentions. your cover up flag presented you as simple sailors gathering goods and sailing them across to neighboring kingdoms across the oceans for the trading process.
sure at first you and your crew were looked down upon, after all, having a lady on the ship was said to bring bad luck. you proved them all wrong of course, that sword on your hip wasn't just for style. although not everyone has truly accepted you all yet, that's okay, they'd need you in the end anyhow.
turning the wheel, earlier you had received a letter from the king in the south. he has an offer for you, and you didn't trust this one bit. yet you had to keep your connections with those of the southern kingdom, they were one of the wealthiest kingdoms after all.
your second in command was busy giving your crew different chores that needed to be completed. softly whistling a tune to yourself, you fixed your feathered tricorn hat as you gazed out into the open ocean. if you squinted enough, you might've been able to make out the smallest outline of land.
just what did this scoundrel king want..?
docking your ship, you left your crew in the hands of your second in command. you didn't want any of them involved with this, especially since you had no clue what this sudden call of your presence was about.
a guard was escorting you to the castle, they offered a ride yet you wanted to get used to walking on land again. being on the sea for so long left you a little disoriented on nonfloating grounds. you preoccupied yourself with taking in the change of scenery and smiling at those who waved at you. now at the gates of the castle, a knight opened the door for you. you walked in with caution, taking one last glance out the door before it closed.
the person in armor led you towards the king's chancery, and this is when your life took a turn for the worst.
King Enji sat proudly on his throne replica of a chair as he waited, once you entered the room he offered you the chair on the other side of him. signaling the guard to return to his post, the king watched with cold eyes as you shifted in your seat.
"do you have any idea why i requested your arrival?" he suddenly spoke.
you stared at him with your best poker face, "for some offer i recall, so what is this ever so important offer the king himself had to extend to me?"
the monarch's face darkened as his flames glowed brighter, "i want you to marry my youngest son."
silence took over the room, was he serious?? it took everything you had not to explode on this man, the absolute nerve.. your eyes must've given away your distaste, about to refuse with your ever so sour tongue, he spoke before you could.
"and before you refuse, i know you and your crew aren't truly simple sailors. the people are already skeptical about you being a lady sailor, much worse a captain. once word gets out you all are sailing as pirates, you might as well say farewell to your seawater life."
oh that's right, the true reason you and your crew covered up as sailors was that people still never accepted pirates as good. surely you'd be burned at the stake if word got out you were a pirate all along..
you gritted your teeth, "what're the consequences for both parties?" annoyance and aggravation was clear in your tone, and all this tyrant did was laugh.
"well since you asked so kindly. if you marry my son, you'll stay here with him and your crew will be free to sail as either a bunch of pirates or sailors. refuse and i'll inform everyone about your secret identities and you and your crew will be doomed the moment you step out of my castle. so captain, what'll it be?"
you felt your world crumble apart in front of you, you never wanted your crew involved with this.. why.. why you of all people?? you weren't even a noble for crying out loud!
what his highness didn't tell you, is that he selected you since you could take charge of your crew with ease and your fierce determination to start your crew on your own. plus the fact that you had been nearly all over the world, including well loved enough by those of the neighboring kingdoms. he loved the amount of connections you brought him.
your head hung low, you didn't even get to say goodbye to your beloved crew.. "alright, i'll marry him." you hope your crew handled themselves without you..
the king smiled as his flames grew brighter with a glint in his eye, "very good.."
and that was a year ago, you had no knowledge of the state of your crew. whether they expanded or not was unknown to you, i mean, how would you know when you're chained to your bedside? the cuffs around your wrists provided a long enough chain between them to be able to stretch and stuff, and that connecting chain was attached to a way longer one that bounded you to the inside of your room. shoto had informed his father that you wanted to walk around your room, so that's basically why you have your minimal available walking distance.
you often stared out through the windows of your balcony, searching for the slightest bit of the ocean. you hoped that one day, you'd see your familiar ship. even if you weren't the one steering.. you had been stripped of your old clothes, only left with gowns nowadays, slowly forgetting your life before all this.
sure prince shoto and y/n did eventually grow to appreciate each other's company, one more than the other, they both knew it was still only an arranged marriage and it would take some time to get used to. although the prince learned to like y/n, neither of them saw themselves as 'husband and wife' yet.
with shoto catching feelings, y/n tried her best not to let them feel anything for him in pitiful yearnings that the king would see it and choose someone else to be queen. due to y/n being distant, shoto took this as y/n hating him. leaving him to treat her to every luxury available that didn't overstep the king's rules.
one day though, shoto had brought her food and while she was eating she was reminded of her past adventures. maybe it was due to it being seafood, but it reminded her of that time her right hand man accidentally fell into the water while he was fishing.
she paused, and shoto instantly looked over in concern, "are you alright lady y/n?"
y/n took a moment before responding, only giving a nod of your head, suddenly having no willpower to lift your utensils to finish your meal. taking it upon himself, shoto gingerly picked up your utensils and hesitantly began feeding you. which was abnormal, to say the least, he's never done anything like this before.. you felt your heart beat loudly in your chest, and you sighed as you couldn't do anything about it.
and this other time, you were given a butter knife to assist you in eating your breakfast. feeling memories flood back into your mind, you proudly wore your captain hat once more. faking a sword fight in her room, y/n happily relived her past. unexpectedly shoto walked in, probably to check if she had finished eating. when y/n saw him, she didn't get embarrassed. instead, she raised her 'sword' and said, "dear prince! I hear by challenging you to a duel! and no fire or ice is allowed."
shoto softly smiled at how carefree y/n seemed to be, taking the sword from his satchel, he tossed it to y/n. she caught it of course, but stared at him in confusion when he left the room. moments after, he returned with a different sword in his grasp, boldly smirking at his betrothed, "I accept your challenge, my lady," he answered back with a glint in his eyes that matched hers.
the two cracked up as their harmless sword fight moved across the room, clashing swords with smiles on their faces as giggles and chuckles filled the room. this was a bonding moment that was expected of them to come naturally as if they were dating. yet they never had time to date, maybe if they had a moment like this before their marriage wouldn't feel as 'arranged' as it is.
jumping onto her bed to avoid shoto, it was similar to how she once jumped onto the upper deck back on her ship to avoid an ambush. king enji walked by the room, pausing due to the loud laughter he heard. peeking into the door, he flashed a sinister grin, "HAHAH SHOTO!! THIS IS PERFECT! Getting along with your wife i see?" than as smug as ever, he walks away.
y/n's cheerful mood is instantly ruined, hesitantly taking off her hat and placing the sword down with her head hung low in sadness. meanwhile, shoto was ready to murder his father, like how dare he ruin y/n's mood?? shoto slowly raised his sword in question, and y/n shook her head. watching as she stumbled over to her bed and flopped down, shoto's displeasure with his father only grew. y/n has lost her carefree attitude, she was closed off again and it seemed like more invisible walls were built. after that whole ordeal, shoto would find y/n sadly staring at her pirate hat and his sword he let her keep.
and one night, y/n laid awake in her bed. she couldn't sleep, both her past and the new addition kept her awake. the prince, she forced herself to hate him. yet how could she keep her facade up when he looks at her as if their marriage was never arranged in the first place?? he's treating her as if he's been in love with her since the very beginning.. y/n isn't much different either, she said she'd hate him, but isn't she the one happily allowing shoto to feed her? or the way she asks him to stay behind with her? or how she finds herself unconsciously tracing her fingers along his scare when he accidentally falls asleep beside her when he stays.
yes, she fell in love with him, but she desperately wished it was under different circumstances. a sudden knock on her door led her to stare into the darkness of who was there.
"lady y/n? are you awake?"
"i think so? i'm still seeing darkness"
shoto silently chuckled, walking over to her bedside with enough grace that it seemed he had her room layout memorized. he patted around her bed for a moment, before taking her hand in his grasp and holding it to his lips, and softly kissed her ring. suddenly the room burst up in flames, y/n sat up wide eyes "what do you think you're doing shoto?!?"
he only grinned at you as a loud blaring alarm rang throughout the castle, he gently grasped your chains and melted them to nothing but a molten puddle on the ground. you gaped at him, before the pounding on your closed door that shoto had most likely locked, started getting too loud for your liking.
"run away with me my lady, let us be free together," shoto practically pleaded with you as he grasped your hands in his.
you coughed, the air was filled with ash. the banging on your doors didn't get any quieter and that's probably the angry shouts of the guards you're hearing too.
you shut your eyes before a determined gleam flashed across your ires. you gripped shoto's hand, jumping out of bed before quickly putting on your hat to make sure it didn't burn in the slowly raging fire. also taking the sword your prince had gifted you, you held him close as the door broke down. jumping out of the side of the balcony, you stabbed the sword into the wall. you kept a firm hold on your prince as you and him descended to the ground. he held onto you just as tight, simply distracting himself with how attractive you looked at the moment.
landing on the ground, you both broke out into a run, laughing at the taste of freedom, "sorry about your blade your majesty," y/n giggled as the adrenaline had yet to run out. shoto simply chuckled along with her as he motioned to the sword on his hip, "no worries my lady, i have a spare."
off in the distance, y/n saw the familiar con flag of her original ship. taking shoto's hand with hers, y/n ran faster, "c'mon prince, run faster! we're going home!" she laughed as her sights landed on her old second in control.
shoto silently chocked on his breath, "pardon me? did you say home?" y/n nodded to him over her shoulder, sending him a cheeky wink as his ears turned pink. the sound of their fast approaching footsteps appeared to have alerted the crew, as now their attention was on the couple running towards them.
"CAPTAIN??? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING?? never mind that, LOWER THE BRIDGE!" your dearest right hand man recognized you immediately, and you happily waved at him and your old crew.
he leaned over the ledge, "aye?? and who might that be with you captain?"
you paused, turning around to face shoto, and glancing down at your connected hands. you turned back to your loyal associate with a smile on your face, "my husband! prince shoto todoroki."

𝐈t is finally the day of the ball, and as royal families and other nobles get announced. You stood there fumbling with your fingers. You’ve never been in front of a big crowd of people before, and this crowd being filled with powerful people makes it even more overwhelming. And Shoto’s arm behind your back didn’t help to suit you either.
Searching for your parents among the guests. “They’re over there.” Shoto points over to your right to see your mother looking at you. As if she wanted to hug you already. “Come, let’s greet them.” He says softly taking your wrist walking the two of you over to your parents, the crowd looking at the both of you with whispers and smiles. Mostly jealous eyes from young women your age. Some jealous of you, some jealous of him.
“Mother.” You called, almost in tears before engulfing her in a hug. Your father is behind her with a proud smile. “I do wish you weren't hard on her, are you Prince?” Your father asks, you gave him a weird look and then to Shoto who seems to change demeanor despite his expression being the same..
‘Hard on her’ your father says. He wanted to ask “Didn’t you put her in this place yourself?” but he restrained himself and feigned a smile. “She’s in great care here, sir. Everyone will make sure she gets the most care she’s ever had.” He said kindly with a hint of hatred in it. And your father surely caught on from the slightly irritated chuckle he let out. He hates irresponsible fathers the most in this world. If it weren't for his will to overthrow his father, he would refuse the marriage and just let you live normally with your life.
You were about to speak up when the King took everyone’s attention by tapping a fork on his glass loudly. “It is lovely indeed to have you people here, having fun and drinking away. But it is no party without a surprise isn’t it!?” He laughs and everybody cheers. Everyone got lively and excited at the awaited announcement. “So let us applause my dedicated crown prince! and his soon to be bride, [name]!” The cheers got even louder, cheering the two of you on and it's finally the cue for you to get your act on.
He wrapped his arm around your waist pulling you close to him with a feign smile on his lips. You almost couldn’t tell if it was fake or not. But to be honest, you found him more charming when he smiles like that. You stepped into the staircase with the King and Shoto in order to be seen by the guests. Shoto noticed your hands get a little shaky and so he slid his hand next to you holding it securely. ‘This is not certainly part of the act.’ You thought to yourself before clearing your throat.
“It is a great h-honor to finally announce… M-me and Prince Shoto’s wedding..” You cringed at yourself for stuttering, gosh you wanted to get off there and lock yourself into your room. Shoto could really feel how overwhelmed you are by how much your hands are shaking. “I apologize, she's not quite fond of crowds just yet. As said, I hereby announce me and Lady [name]’s wedding that will be held a week from now. I do hope that you treat her well with the same respect as you do with me and my family, regard her as a new Princess and the future Queen of this land. Plese, continue on with the party.”
He says, before letting go of your hand. The people clapped and congratulated you both. You got off the staircase with him, embarrassed. “I’m sorry, I practiced it many times last night and I never thought it would get this overwhelming.” You looked down on your dress, playing with the lace attached to it. “It’s fine, I understand. Please, enjoy your time. You are free to roam around outside if you feel overwhelmed.” He assures standing right next to you. “I’ll attend to the guests.” He says leaving your side, unfamiliar with the people surrounding you. A few noble ladies came to say their congrats, have small talk and then leave. Those ladies had more manners, probably even had a face more than you. So why would the King come to your father?
You look around and see Prince Shoto talking with the well known Princess Yaoyorozu. She’s said to be kind, thoughtful and smart. You hear people talk about her from your home. And you can see those qualities in her from how she can make Prince Shoto smile so easily like that. He seemed calm and happy to be around her. It’s fascinating. They looked much more fit together. You smiled watching as they talked. “Shouldn’t you be mad or something?” Asked a raspy voice from behind. You turn around to be greeted by a buff and tall blonde guy, dressed like a Barbarian. You are guessing that he is the well respected Prince of the Barbarian Kingdom.
“I.. Uhm…” You couldn’t respond at all, he looks so scary and angry. Last thing you want is offending him or something. “I knew it, of course. That hag Enji does whatever just so he can get some good name on ‘im.” He rolls his eyes. Your mouth agape ‘Did he just call the King a hag?!’ ”Anyway, my old hag forced me to come here anyway. Let’s fuckin’ dance or something. Your too good of a husband wouldn’t mind that would he? Besides, I take it you know the etiquette of celebrating parties like these?” He asks, taking your hand and leading you to the dance floor where many are already dancing to the rhythm of the music.
The music slowed down a little as soon as you stepped into the floor with the blonde. “Oh, yeah my Kingdom is different. Other men are allowed to invite the soon to be wedded bride for a last dance with a random. My old hag would give me an earful if I don’t go. I trust you know how to?” For an angry looking guy, he sure does talk a lot. With his hand on your waist and yours in his shoulders, the both of you swayed as the music started to slowly pick up. People whispered and talked while the two of you danced. “And here your husband goes.” He sighs when Shoto comes along with Yaoyorozu.
“I’m not sure if I know your name, your highness.” You embarrassedly asked such insolence of you that you don’t even know his name. “Katsuki. We won’t meet again till your wedding anyway. I’m gonna spin you ‘round to your husband.” He says before taking your hand to spin you around to Shoto.
Then the music stopped. You always felt so nervous under his gaze. “May I?” He asks for permission which you answered with a simple nod. He then places his hand on your waist as the music starts once again, slowly the two of you swayed just as practiced. “I see you getting along well with Prince Bakugo.” He smiles, still you couldn't tell if it was fake or not. You gave him a small nod, it is also a must that the both of you look in love while you danced. “I have just met him, Prince. I apologize if that wasn’t lady like. I couldn't decline his offer.” He shakes his head.
“It’s fine, it’s part of their culture after all. I trust he didn’t hurt or offend you in any way?” You just nodded and continued on dancing. You wanted to tell him to stop with that, no one can hear the both of you anyway so what’s the need to talk. You remained silent but looked into his eyes that started back at yours until the music changed into a new one. Your feet still hurts so you asked for a break. He gladly let you have your rest.
You made your way to find your peace, away from the people and the music. Not really since it still can be heard but not too much. And from there, a smile crept up your face when you saw your lady Uraraka with Izuku, dancing together under the light of the moonlight. You didn’t want to interrupt so you stayed where you were, watching them from behind the rose bushes. Just staring at each other but affection filled their eyes. It fascinated you. It felt like it was out of a romance novel you have read.
“He looked into her eyes as he pulled her in. His other held her hand as gently as ever. He could see stars in her eyes, so beautiful, so alluring. Her breath hitched as he inched closer, feeling the warmth of his breath against his lips… If I could see you everywhere I looked… There's a spider, oh my god!” You shrieked when a spider suddenly crawled up your arm. Quickly shaking it off and the two quickly shaking each other off. Uraraka quickly came to your aid.
“Princess, are you alright?” She embarrassedly helped you stand. You smiled looking at the faint blush on her cheeks. “I’m sorry to interrupt! You guys can continue with what you’re doing.” You smiled about to leave when Uraraka stopped you. “Please, no! It’s alright. You must’ve come here to rewind…” She chuckles. You smiled and patted her head and then looked at Izuku who was mumbling to himself.
“Please don’t punish her, I know romance between two palace workers is prohibited but it’s my fault! I beg you!” He says going on his knees. “Prohibited?” You asked, how can that even be part of the rules? Does it hinder their job? “‘Zuku, stop. It’s fine. I accept whatever punishment you have, Princess, but I beg you to let him out of this.” Uraraka helps him up, and Izuku now has tears in his eyes.
“What do you mean? Why is it not allowed?” The two looked at each other. You pulled them to where the benches are to have a talk because to be honest, my feet hurt from too much walking and dancing now. “Y-you see… the king, he once accused the Queen of cheating with one of the royal guards…” You let out a small gasp, looking at Uraraka if she were serious. “And so he b-beheaded the guard and locked the Queen up at the west wing of the palace… Please don’t tell anybody that we talked about this! Being caught is enough but… I don’t wanna get killed just yet.”
You shake your head no, there is no way you want him to get punished just because they love each other. You held both their hands. “I’ll keep what I saw a secret. That’s just… Cruel! How come the prince never did something about it? Please don’t apologize for loving each other.” You assured. “Princes… You’re…You’re an angel. I see why the King chose you for the prince.”
Izuku cried tears of joy. You figured that he is and has a sensitive and kind heart. “You kind of remind me of the Queen somehow… My mother once worked here as the Queen’s personal lady and she described the queen just like you. It’s ironic how you too are bound by contract.” Ochako mumbled the last part but you definitely heard that.
“But princess, why are you here and not inside? Shouldn’t you be greeting guests?” Izuku asks, you chuckled and wiggled your feet. “It’s become sorer than yesterday. I can barely walk properly.” You sighed. Izuku crouches down to take a look. “Oh no, it’s gotten worse. It’s probably best if we get you to your quarters and tell the prince.” Ochako suggests. And at the time, you didn’t decline and stood. “Please take her to their quarters. I’ll inform the prince.” She says before going. “Their quarters?” You asked him, Izuku then gave you a nervous chuckle. “The King has requested to move your belongings along with the prince to a new bedroom this morning. He says it’s best that both of you get to know each other quickly like that.” A blush crept up your cheeks. ‘Like that….? But isn’t that too quick?’
Izuku had just left after bringing me into the new quarters. This one is bigger than what I was given, more spacious and luxurious. Two palace ladies have come to help me get changed. “The prince will be here with a healer, Princess. He orders that you rest until then. Have a nice evening, your majesty.” she says before leaving. And so I hopped on the bed, careful not to make my feet even more painful. I layed there staring at the ceiling, until my eyes got tired too and fell into slumber.
Waking up in the middle of the night, feeling a shuffle of something above you. Slowly opening your eyes to see the Prince raising the blanket over your body. “I apologize, I couldn’t have noticed sooner.” He says, as usual with the same blank look on his face. “It’s fine, thank you… Taking over the speech once again…“ You sat up, fumbling with your hands.``Please, lay back down. The doctor advises you don’t take walks for a while until you heal again. I’ll make sure to get new shoes that suit your comfort. I’ll have to stay up and discuss business with other nobles.” He then grabs his coat that is resting on the couch.
“But the moon is still up. Wouldn’t it be-” “Please worry about yourself first. Have a goodnight, princess.” He interrupts before leaving. A sigh escapes your mouth, laying yourself back onto the mattress. He sounded so cold, you wondered if you’re ever gonna get along with him. Scared at the fact that he may be just like his father.
“How thoughtful, not inviting his own to the party.” The jet black haired male shakes his head with a smirk. “Here he goes again, wanting to rebel against his father. But oh I heard the new princess is really really pretty~” The blonde lady daydreams of the princess’ beauty, wishing to get ahold of her. “Shigaraki, I want to watch my father’s downfall. You better make it possible alright?” The jet black haired male laughed as he looked at the castle that was bustling with guests. “I want to see my little brother suffer too.”
“Ochako, I can feed myself. Please put the fork down.” You chuckled at Ochako who sits beside the bed, holding your plate of food, trying to feed you. She looks away embarrassingly. “I-I’m sorry princess. It’s just that the prince entrusted me to take care of you today since he’ll be out of the castle today for business...”
You nodded. You couldn’t help but be curious about both of them. From the looks of it, they seem to be in love of some sort. Being a romance enthusiast, you know of the way prince Shoto looks at her highness Yaoyorozu. “Do they like each other?” You asked, catching the palace maid off guard, the poor girl became a stuttering mess.
“I-Uhm! I don’t think I should be telling you this, Princess. Wouldn’t that be…” She looks down, she didn’t want to offend you by the answer. “Please, our marriage is nothing but a contract. It is none of my business who the prince falls in love with. So, are they in love?” You looked at her with hopeful eyes. Ochako doesn’t know how you could ask such things about your husband's love for other women.
“In some way… They kind of are, being friends since they were little. They’ve always dreamt about being married and such… From what I heard. I hope I didn’t offend you!” She bows deeply. You shook your head with a smile, out of sadness and fascination. “She must hate me, for I’ve taken what she loves the most…” You sighed deeply, fumbling with your finger.
“She’s a great and kind princess, why didn’t the King choose her instead ?” Ochako shakes her head, she didn’t know the answer to that. “That, I cannot tell you, princess. Please, finish up your breakfast. And, I know princess Yaoyorozu doesn’t hold hatred for anyone.” She cleared.
“She seems to want to talk to you someday. When I told the prince about your condition last night, I saw how worried she looked and how she went with the prince to see you. Unfortunately, you were asleep.” She chuckles, a smile creeps up your face. “I too would want to talk to her someday. But, is it really necessary that I lay in bed all day?” You joked wiggling your bandaged feet. “Yes, the prince ordered me to not let you out and keep you company for the time being.”
“I can walk just fine you know, I noticed we have the same shoe size, can I borrow yours?” You asked about placing the plate on the table just beside your bed. “Princess, you’re not allowed to leave your quarters.” She says worriedly, trying to put you back to bed but it didn’t work since you already are stretching your body. Your walking still looked limp.
“Is it bad of me to want to go to the library? Come on~ It isn’t like I will walk a lot.” You begged. Ochako only sighed as she nodded. “Don’t worry, if you get in trouble I’ll take responsibility. Can you please get me something really comfortable to wear? And a spare of your shoes if you may.” Ochako nodded before heading inside the walk-in closet connected to the room. And coming back with a dress that’s just to your liking. You have cleaned yourself up before eating so you took your clothes off and just changed.
“Here are a pair of comfortable shoes, princess. Let us head out now.” She smiles before taking the tray with her and giving it to the butler waiting just outside your door. Slowly making your way into the big library. It was dark in there, only candles lighting up the room. “How… Dark. Ochako, would you mind opening those curtains, just beside the couch please?” You asked her too and she quickly obliged. Grabbing a candle that’ll help you see through the dusty bookshelves. It looked as if these were rarely touched. Grabbing a romance book, you made your way over to Ochako who’s dusting the couch off.
“Princess, if you don’t mind. Will you read me the book?” She meekly asked, a smile grew on your face before nodding as quickly. “I would love to, now sit beside me.” You tapped the seat beside you and you flipped through the pages. “‘Tis about two lovers, do you like romance?” you asked and she answered with a nod. “Let me start then. Andrea sighed as she looked out the window of her castle, watching as her husband talked and laughed along with the neighboring princess. She’s not a young Princess from a kingdom, nor a noble from a rich family. She was just a daughter of a farmer who lived outside the Kingdom of his majesty.
The crown prince, her husband, claimed that he didn’t want a wife from a powerful clan. And so he decided to search for a maiden, perfect fit to be his bride and future queen. Though his search only covered the kingdom’s town. He came across Andrea on a sunny day, as she bought apples and other veggies for her mother. He thought she was beautiful, just like a princess he’s seen in paintings. Harold was childish then, only looking at her face before he decided ‘I am going to marry that woman.’ And she was taken to the castle out of her will. But Andrea was a shy girl, who never spoke against anybody, even if her freedom was taken. Harold did the best he could to get the lady talking, but nothing seemed to make her.
On most days, she stayed inside the bedroom she was given, dressed beautifully but she’d rather not wander the halls. Even if she was alone, all she did was sit beside her window looking outside, in her own thoughts. Harold did come to visit her, in the morning and in the evenings. Greeting her each time but all she gave her was a nod or a smile. He badly wanted to hear her voice, hear her utter even just a word. But Harold didn’t do as much as she wanted him to. Andrea grew to hate him, but her face remained calm with a small smile plastered each time he visited.
And now, just like everyday. She sits alone beside her bedroom window, looking at her husband laughing along with the neighboring princess. Oh how she wished the girl was in her place instead. She was tired of pretending it was alright for her to feel caged inside a big stone castle, where she had no real friends, and no one to care for her. All Andrea wanted was for him to ask ‘Is this truly what you want, my dear? Is being in this marriage truly alright for you?’. Even he didn’t bother to get to know her.
A tear slipped down her porcelain like cheeks, as she looked outside. If Andrea was to be asked what she wanted, it would be for her old life to be given back. Back to where she could smile genuinely, though without a voice, her giggles would fill her father’s ears. But the marriage has happened, and the vows have been made. Her life is now bound to love the very man who took her freedom from her, the man who made no effort to get to know her.
Andrea was never fond of talking, but she would if you gave her the time to.” You finished the first chapter and you could hear Ochako sniffing beside you. “P-princess, is this truly what you want?” She asked in between tears, a chuckle escaping your lips. “I guess Andrea and I have our similarities then.” She then hugged you out of the blue.

Not really any warnings for this one! Thank you to everyone who has been reading ♡

“Where is my grandmother’s necklace? I’m not being presented without it,” Fuyumi was nearly frantic as the time for her entrance drew closer and closer. Her cheeks were flushed and you could only hope that she wouldn’t start to sweat.
“Right here my lady,” You confirmed, retrieving the gold and sapphire necklace from her jewelry box that one of the servants had brought downstairs earlier. From the moment you had kissed Shoto goodbye this morning and then went to awaken the princess, the day had been busy, barely even a moment to breathe, the corset of the dress Fuyumi had presented to you this afternoon not making it any easier. The silk material was finer than anything you had ever worn before, the dark blue shining like shades of midnight, a special gift for you from Fuyumi crafted by a seamstress couple in the capital city. To say you had shed a tear or two would be an understatement. You had practically been Fuyumi’s shadow that day, but everything that needed to be done was done and now the grand moment was only at most an hour away.
You saw the relief flood her face, a shaky sigh of relief bringing her shoulders down as you moved behind her to clasp the chain. Fuyumi ran her fingers across the necklace, delicately grazing the gold and jewels with shaking hands. You wanted to bring her some comfort, words of encouragement to seal her walls from crumbling but you couldn’t find a thing to say, instead laying a hand against her shoulder. Her dark eyes looked back at you from the mirror as if she was searching for something in your reflection.
“Do you have everything you need?”.
You nodded stiffly as your heart sank into your stomach. This had been the last thing you wanted to discuss right now, you hadn’t wanted to be reminded of it at all, the impending heartbreak of escaping into the night like a ghoul to try and make a new life for yourself making you sick to your core. But you were staying steady, Fuyumi needed you to be strong for her now, as much as you needed to be strong for yourself as well. A sharp knock at the door stole your reply, stomach instantly sinking as the Queen entered followed by her own two court ladies.
“Guests are still pouring in but the Prince just arrived,” Rei said with a bright smile, looking down at her daughter with a fond smile, “you look absolutely beautiful Fuyumi, this will be a perfect match”. Her dark eyes flicked down to Fuyumi’s bodice before turning to you swiftly.
“Go upstairs and get the brooch I bought for her, why isn’t it in her jewelry box already?”. She waved you away dismissively, the curl of her lip displaying her disgust. You fought any kind of reply away and just left the room, cheeks heating in irritation. You could already hear the string quartet playing softly from the Great Hall and the low murmuring chatter of guests. Could practically feel the energy vibrating through the floors. The rest of the castle was quiet, the only busy place being the kitchen, which you could gratefully avoid, and head to Fuyumi’s room. Candlelight from the wall-mounted lanterns cast rippling shadows along the hallway, the curtains pulled tight to the windows to guard against the starlight and the almost too-cool air of the broaching fall. You were thankful her bedroom door wasn’t locked so you wouldn’t have to worry about getting your dress dirty retrieving the key. The brooch was set aside almost deliberately on the vanity, the soft ivory cameo overlaying a black onyx stone and the silver backing spiraling around the edges like lace. It was truly a beautiful piece but it had been one of many gifts that the King and Queen had given Fuyumi in the last few days, just another thing to appease her she had said with a solemn sigh. You hoped so very much that she would find peace in her new life, that this prince would whisk her away and give her everything she deserved. With the items in hand, you exited the room; nearly jumping from your skin when you came face to face with the King’s guard Captain Keigo, his ochre eyes regarding you suspiciously.
“What are you doing up here? Aren’t you supposed to be downstairs getting the princess ready?” He commented, peering over your shoulder as if looking for something. Or someone.
“The Queen instructed me to retrieve the princess’s brooch,” You said with a furrowed brow, confusion evident in your tone and through your eyes. He relaxed a bit, though keeping his chin high, and fixed you with a hard stare.
“I’ll escort you back, don’t need any detours”
“I’m fully capable of making it back on my own, thank you,” You said respectfully but firmly, you were getting more nervous by the minute.
“I’ve been instructed not to let you out of my sight,” He said cooly, reaching to take your wrist in his hand.
“If you want to keep that hand attached I suggest lowering it and stepping away from her” Shoto’s tone was dark, sending a shot of adrenaline through you when you noticed him over Keigo’s shoulder standing at the top of the stairs.
“I’m doing what the King has told me to do,” Keigo said, looking away from you and allowing you time to move around him and go to where Shoto was.
“And I’m telling you, try anything again and I’ll cut your throat open, Hear me?”. His expression was murderous, the glint in his eyes begging for blood. The blonde seemed to weigh his options, betting on how serious Shoto actually was, and eventually made the smartest decision of not testing him. He made a small sound in the back of his throat, like he was noting something of interest, and walked past both of you to descend the stairs.
“Are you alright?” Shoto asked you, his voice turning soft as he turned his gaze to you, checking carefully for any thread out of place.
“You showed up just in time actually,” You sighed, taking a shaking breath, “I really was just doing what your mother asked”. Demanded was more like it.
“I know, I’ll escort you back,” He said, not making any movements, only tracing you with his eyes as if memorizing every part of this moment, “You are an absolute vision of beauty”. Your cheeks burned as his hand caressed your cheek, drawing you closer with fingers against your jaw.
“Kiss me”. It was the same demand you had made that morning, his voice breathy as if this request was his last line of life. You pressed your lips together before his next inhale, your knees shaking as he gasped and pulled you even closer, still careful to not mess up the dress and your makeup. You wanted more, to clutch him closer, hold him longer, and never turn this moment into memory but you knew time was running thin. Pulling away from him he sighed, an almost dejected but understanding look in his heterochromatic eyes. His right hand was strangely cool, but you held it close anyway for the short time it took you to get back to the hall. Shoto paused a few paces away from the door but you continued forward, taking one last squeeze of his fingers before going back into the room.
You were helping Fuyumi attach the brooch to her dress when Shoto knocked on the door, deliberately taking a few extra minutes to dispel suspicion.
“Good you’re here, how is everything out there?” Rei asked as Shoto shut the door behind him.
He shrugged, “Guests are mingling, the prince’s arrival caused quite a buzz but everything is going as planned”. The Queen clapped her hands excitedly with a wide, pleased smile.
“Excellent, Excellent, everything is going just as we planned” She chirped, turning Fuyumi by her elbow to get a look at the brooch, “Does everyone remember their places?”. How could anyone forget? She had been keeping everything on a precise schedule. You fanned out Fuyumi’s dress, checking once more to make sure the brooch was attached fully. You could hear the quartet begin playing the song you had heard more times than you could count over the last few days and knew the time had come. You could hear the crowd quiet till only the music could be heard floating along the floor.
“Deep breathes your grace,” You said as you stepped up next to Fuyumi, her eyes slightly widened and her hands trembling ever so slightly. She nodded, stealing a shaky breath in through her nose and out through her mouth as the doors opened. The ballroom was filled with a large crowd, Royals and Noble men and women lining the walls and the doorways and around the main floor after they were cleared away to make room for the engagement party. The music hit a soft crescendo as Shoto made his way through the ballroom with this guard Inasa in procession, going up to the throne to stand next to his father as the guard stayed next to the edge of the wide stairs with the others. The Queen and her consorts coming out next to lead the Princess's procession as they announced her arrival.
“Now Presenting, Princess Fuyumi Todoroki” King Enji announced to the room, all heads and pairs of eyes on her as you fanned out her dress once again to glide across the floor. The room was dead quiet as the music seemed to absorb the moment, a collective breath being held as if she had the entire room enchanted. But as much as you wanted to focus on her, your eyes were immediately drawn to Shoto. He looked so resplendent, the gold threadwork displaying the coat of arms for the Todoroki family glimmered so brightly against the deep crimson of his cloak, his hair smoothed back despite the discomfort you knew he had about his scar. You had heard the whispers about how “it was such a shame about that scar, marring his handsome face” but you thought it only made him all the more beautiful, strong, and resilient. You bowed politely to the Prince, a handsome man with deep blue hair that thankfully wasn’t much older than Fuyumi if any at all, and squeezed her hand once more before stepping away to take your place on the second step where the Queen had instructed you to stay. Until you felt a soft hand brush your fingertips and pull delicately at the sleeve of your gown. Shoto let go and took your hand then, moving you up to stand beside him next to the King, in front of an entire countries worth of people. You didn’t dare look at the King or Queen, feeling their eyes glowering into the back of your head. You didn’t need to see the confusion, disdain, and shock on their faces. You stood quietly next to Shoto, his hand gripping yours as you watched Fuyumi and the Prince begin their first dance, her dress smoothing like dark midnight across the floor as he spun her with a bright smile etched across their faces. How happy they looked together even after only knowing each other for a few minutes. The sound of Fuyumi’s trilling laugh made your heart feel warm and brought a smile to your face. The audience of captivated Royals erupted in applause as their first dance drew to a close, the music picking up a different tempo and dragging others onto the floor. Shoto continued to hold your hand as he moved in front of you, bowing deeply before bringing your hand to his lips.
“May I have this dance, my lady?” He asked, his eyes full of something so warm it heated your cheeks.
“I would be honored, your grace,” You said with a soft smile, giddy butterflies fluttering in your stomach and up your chest. You would enjoy tonight to the fullest. To hell with the King and Queen tonight, to all the titles and royal bloodlines. Now that everything you could do for Fuyumi was done, maybe it was time to have a bit of a selfish moment of your own.
“Shoto” the King’s voice rumbled behind you, his reprimanding tone evident. You turned to see the Queen’s hand resting on the King’s arm, seemingly trying to keep him in his seat.
“Father” Shoto replied, ice heavy in his voice. The moment was tense, so different from the frolicking atmosphere of the rest of the room. Enji’s eyes were hard as stone as he stared down his youngest son, Shoto not withering in the slightest.
“Shoto, Y/n, coming to dance?” Fuyumi’s voice called above the crowd and the music, breaking the tension like glass. Her face showcased her worry and irritation.
“Yes, they are,” Rei commented, squeezing Enji’s arm a little and turning her face to his, “Aren’t they”. Enji looked at her and seemed to read something in her gaze, settling back against the throne without another word. You didn’t miss the snake-like smile that pulled at the corners of Rei’s lips though, her dark eyes filled with venom. But you turned away, not wanting the night and the moment to be poisoned, tomorrow and the days following would come no matter how you tried to stop it. Maybe letting tonight be what it is was the smartest course of action. Shoto held your hand tightly as he guided you onto the floor, immediately sweeping you into his arms and holding you close.
“I told you I would ask you to dance,” He said, all the joy he was feeling spilling forth from his smile and infecting you easily.
“You always seem to make good on your promises, your grace” You addressed him teasingly, rewarded with an amused snort.
“I always will, my love” He replied, spinning you out with the tempo of the music before curling you back into him, keeping one hand against your waist and the other grasping your left hand. It was like a dream dancing and spinning about the floor with him, all other guests and problems forgotten as you moved as one, feeling as if even your heartbeats had synchronized and the very air in your lungs the same. How badly you wanted to kiss him when he pulled you in close, a matching heat in his gaze when you caught each other staring at the other's lips. The feeling of his hands holding you so tight and close sent heat flowing through your body, barely keeping from stumbling.
The quartet was finishing their fourth song when Shoto linked your arm with his and exited the dancefloor, walking with you over to the open balcony to get a breath of fresh air, the night cool and sending goosebumps up your arms despite the sleeves. The wind was blowing lightly through the trees, branches whispering like they were sharing secrets, and clouds rushing across the rising moon.
“Runaway with me tonight,” Shoto remarked, not taking his eyes off the stars twinkling in the dark sky. You opened your mouth to speak but resigned yourself to closing it, knowing it wouldn’t change his mind no matter what you said.
“Just for tonight,” He asserted, turning to you and resting a hand against your cheek, “I want you all to myself”.

(sorry, sorry, but here's another recommended song!!)
You were majestic in his eyes -- a piece of art that would be too expensive to buy. Someone who seems untouchable, yet drawing everyone's attention.
Todoroki knew this even as the prince. He often watched you leave the castle with the basket in your hands, flowers of all different kinds scattered in it - or what's left anyway.
You were "just" supposed to be the "flower girl", or in other words the one who came to replace the flowers almost every other week. His father was kind enough to let you stay on the days you came to work, providing food and a luxurious room before you left again. It was the same process. He hadn't even discovered you until he bumped into you one day.
He just so happened to be coming back from an exhausting training session with his father, leaving him angered and tired. Sure, learning self defense and knowing how to use a sword would come in at a good time but it didn't feel like that would happen if he was barely let out of the castle.
He was grumbling all the way back to his room, the long hallways teasing him about how far of a walk it was just to get to his bed. His eyes weren't focused on his surroundings, rather the red carpet that decorated the floors, resulting in an accident he never expected.
You came rushing out from the corner he was going to turn, a basket of white flowers wobbling in your hand before you crashed into the prince who was too distracted by the ground. It all happened in mere seconds, leaving you dumbfounded. You completely didn't realize you had just ran into the soon-to-be king.
You groaned softly, the impact leaving your head spinning for longer than you wanted before the realization hit you. How could you do that?
'The flowers!'
Without a second wasted, you jolted up, your hair in a mess, quickly turning to check on your flowers you had just brought. They were one of the freshly grown ones from your village and you didn't plan on destroying them anytime soon. But when you saw a few of them smashed from the accident, your lips slowly formed into a frown. It hurt you more than someone would think. Flowers were something you cherished.
"Pardon."
The voice brought you out of your trance, your face melting into one of horror. You could recognize that voice from anywhere. This had to be a joke, right? Your head slightly turned towards the one and only prince that stood before you, his expression stoic as always. If you looked close enough you thought there was a flash of anger behind it but you swiftly took your basket and made your feet stand.
"Prince! I..uh.. I'm so sorry! Please forgive me I had no idea that was you. It was my fault for rushing like that, I promise I won't run in the halls again-" You continuously bowed, the flowers in your basket swaying with each movement of your body. Todoroki had to calm himself from having another headache so he brushed you off.
"Just don't do it again, alright?" His voice was surprisingly softer this time, a ping of somberness attached to it. You immediately froze in place, letting him walk past you. For a moment you felt the fabric of his shirt pass by your sleeve but he was already off to his destinated area, leaving you left with no words.
It wasn't everyday you ran into someone with high authority -- the only thing close to that was introducing yourself to the king very briefly to explain why you were doing your job at his palace.
You shook your head, lips still in a frown as you walked off, the two of you going separate ways.
-----------------------------------------------.
As todoroki finally stepped foot into his room, he collapsed on the bed that awaited him all day. Each new morning felt like a chore, repeating the same schedule over and over again just to be scolded by a father who could care less about him and he feels. All for the money and power.
He promised himself that he wouldn't become like that. He never wanted that for his future, if he even had one. He's gotten so used to people faking their own personalities around him just because he's the son of the king, he doesn't know who's real and fake anymore. Other than his siblings of course. Though they often went out of the castle for "Kingdom matters." It left him alone most of the time, wanting the attention from a loved one he hardly got to experience.
It was a couple of minutes before he eventually got up from his bed, groggily looking around the room before he noticed something. White flowers were placed on his window seal, bringing the eery scenery some enlightenment. They were eye-catching, although they were plain white, it was the pureness they held that got his attention. For a moment he recognized them.
Weren't those the ones he saw when he ran into you? He recalled seeing that same color in the basket you held. He also remembered the way you frantically apologized to him over something so small. Another thing that he didn't particularly like about people.
But he did remember your face slightly. Even if it was just for a couple of seconds, he was sure to catch some of your features. He assumed you were the one who took care of the flowers in the castle because he heard of someone now taking care of that matter but he never got to meet them -- or in this case, you.
He remembered your long eyelashes, the village-like dress you wore, the color of your hair, and your hands. He particularly noticed how small they were.
He found himself in a daze, wondering who exactly you were. He knew what you looked like to a certain point, but who were you? His eyes danced along the flowers, admiring their beauty in the sunset.
Just for a minute, he wondered if he would ever see you again.

I’ve been working on a Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) AU fantasy/royal/magic fic for a while. Can’t seem to get a good storyline in place. I have the idea, but there are some gaps and things that don’t make sense.
Could be over thinking it, but I just don’t want it to come out poopy lol
Anyway, thought I'd share a bit of a snippet of it.
Bakugou x Reader x Todoroki (Final pairing and gender of reader: Undecided)
Warning: None
Words: 198
-------
"Why are you so upset? Is everything okay?" You frown at Bakugou's unusually short temper.
"I said I'm fine! Just leave me alone already." A low growl flees from his downward turned lips, marching off in a different direction. "I don't understand why he is so angry. I don't think I have done anything to offend him." You replayed today's events and you couldn't find anything that you had done to wrong the blonde boy. "He's upset that I'm here." Todoroki immediately knew the origin of Bakugou's resentment. "What do you mean? Isn't it good that we're building numbers against the enemy?" "It's not that. He's jealous because he's in love with you." Your mouth opens slightly, but no words come out. Heat starts to rise in your cheeks as you fidget in your spot still failing to produce a sentence. You quickly compose yourself, letting out a short laugh as you wave your hand in front of your face. "That's impossible. There's no way. We've only been traveling together for a few weeks." Todoroki takes a step towards you, gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"It didn't take me long to fall for you."

『midnight, midsummer』 — four
Tumblr media
— pairing: shoto x reader — tags: university au, urban fantasy au, selkie shoto, accidental marriage (lmfao), faerie antics, 18+ — wc: 4.6k — notes: it Begins
“I have no intention of forcing you into anything,” Shoto says evenly, expression neutral despite the roiling depths of his mismatched eyes. He seems to hesitate slightly before he continues. “Let me propose something, then. A bargain.” Your eyebrows shoot up before you’re able to stop them. Shoto is offering to enter a faerie bargain with you? As though he can see the cogs turning in your head, the corner of his lips lifts in a half smile. He breathes in deeply, closing his eyes a moment before he lets the air go and meets your gaze once more. “If you find that you do not have any feelings for me at all, come Midsummer’s Eve, then I will dissolve this marriage and leave you be.” ---- You get a little more than you bargained for when you knock some poor guys coat off his chair in the library. You pick it up and give it back to him, of course, because that's what anyone would do, right? Well, apparently not when it comes to selkies.

Tumblr media
It’s at dusk the next day that you find yourself at a familiar stretch of sand and rocks.
You’re all dressed and ready to go to the celebration; you were actually on your way there, barely ten minutes away, but decided to stop for a few minutes. This is a beach you’ve been frequenting since you first came here. It’s where you go to sit with your thoughts and unwind. The ocean has always been a secret love of yours, and this beach is sequestered off and separated enough that more often than not you’re able to be in complete solitude while you bask in the sun and sea breeze.
You’re sure that amongst the dolphins and seals there is a bunch of sea-dwellers that can catch sight of you from the water, but you don’t have to deal with them in your everyday life so you’re relatively unbothered by it.
A particularly brisk breeze cuts against your skin, and with a shiver you shove your hands into the pockets of your jacket, nestling further into the fabric. However warm it may get during the day, the wind at night is another matter entirely.
You pause when, in the midst of your shivering, your fingers brush against something at the bottom of your pocket. Confused, you draw the item out and attempt to discern what it is in the moonlight.
Recognition lights in you not long after you set your eyes on it. Right, this is the jacket you were wearing when you arrived home to the ring and orchid on your front porch. Normally you’d be inclined to shove it back into your pocket in an effort to forget about it, but for some reason you feel like you can look at it without having a lowkey panic attack today.
Drawing your other hand from your jacket, you crack open the box and retrieve the ring from inside. It’s a beautiful piece, you have to admit. The style is something you probably would have chosen yourself, too. You’ve never seen a pearl with this colouring before… it’s quite mesmerising to the eye. Against the backdrop of the night sky, it’s like your very own drop of the moon.
Your fingers fiddle with the band, fingertips dipping into the ring as though to put it on before shying away. A part of you kind of wants to see what it looks like on… but you’re paranoid that once it’s on it won’t come off.
It’s a little bit silly of you, really. You decide that fear is a little irrational and proceed to slip the band onto your ring finger.
… It looks good.
Immediately after that thought you rip the ring off your finger and cram it back into the box. Said box is then banished back to the depths of your jacket pocket, and you return to your original journey towards the docks in the distance. Stubbornly, you force yourself to think of something else, and decide to focus on your destination.
The location of the party is a place called Tinsel Cove – contrary to the name it isn’t a natural formation, but rather an abandoned warehouse that has since been repurposed into party central for the sea-dwellers. Hence, the tinsel. Between the ocean folk and the land fae, there is no shortage of celebrations year-round. This is only one of many regular haunts that host these parties, but it’s probably one of your favourites if only because of it’s proximity to the ocean.
True to what they had texted you earlier, Toru and Himiko are waiting for you at the entrance to the building. You actually hadn’t seen the former until you caught sight of Himiko next to her. Toru really blends in come nightfall. As you approach, she pulls something out from behind her and cracks it with both hands. Glow sticks. You try not to snort as she fashions them into jewellery.
“Looking good,” Himiko croons with lidded, appraising eyes, licking her lips. “Offer still stands if you’re up for some rapid weight loss.”
You laugh. You don’t think she would know what to do with herself if you ever said yes to one of her frequent, half-hearted requests for a drink of your blood. “I’ll have to decline – I’m quite happy with how I am currently. Plus, I don’t think your method is very recommended by health professionals.”
You’d heard bits and pieces of the music from half a mile away, but now that you’re approaching it’s quite booming. It would be just shy of deafening for those with more sensitive hearing. Your friends seem to hear you okay all the same, though, because they both snort.
“Right, well, enough standing out here-- there are drinks inside with our names on them. Everything but the green ones should be human friendly.”
“Noted,” you nod, following them both as they enter the building.
The insides are interesting, a peculiar combination of open and staggered design. There are portions of the warehouse that are completely unrestricted, nothing separating the floor and the sky-high ceilings. Other parts are sectioned off, with several levels to the structure. Each room seems to have its own little party happening, but in the open-plan area there are a bunch of different games occurring at once.
People all throughout the building are dancing, some more wholeheartedly than others, but there seems to be a section by the far corner where everyone who wishes to do so have gathered together. You make a note to avoid that corner like the plague, because if some drunk pixie grabs you and pulls you in like they did last time you’re not going to be able to move your legs for three days.
A mesmerising mixture of twinkling fairy lights and gradient LEDs (likely mixed with a few real faery lights) illuminate the room in ever-shifting hues, but shadows truly dominate the space. You didn’t realise how important the glow sticks were until you attempted to find your friend and only managed to locate her by the pink one she had fashioned into a choker around her neck.
“Don’t go wandering or I won’t catch sight of you ever again,” you joke, leaning down so Toru can actually hear you. She lets out a loud laugh that oddly reminds you of a tinkling bell. A lot of things about Toru are evidently hard for your human senses to perceive. They seem to be doing their best, though.
Himiko slips her arm around your waist, pulling you close. “First, let’s go check out the chaos over there – I think they’re playing potion pong and I saw that harpy pour something funky looking in some of the cups. It’s gonna be fun to watch.”
Toru is in immediate agreement, and loops her liquid-cool arm through your own. “That’s Tokoyami! He’s known for his odd creations in Concoctions class, so whoever has to drink his cup is going to have an interesting time.”
You are then unceremoniously dragged over, neither of them bothering to ask if you want to watch (probably because they already know the answer, but still). The three of you pick up drinks along the way, and your night officially begins.
True to Himiko and Toru’s words, the potion pong match does end up being really fun to watch. A majority of the drinks were safe, but a good number of them were rigged with potions that had weird effects once consumed. You watched someone’s hair turn red and mould into feathers at some point, and the most recent penalty you observed was a poor shifter who shrank about two feet and had to suffer a high-pitched voice every time they spoke. The potions wouldn’t last very long, the ones with outlandish effects never tend to, but you still felt a bit bad despite your laughter every time some poor sap got hit with another one.
You wouldn’t want it to be you, let’s put it that way.
While your friends had promised they would stick with you the whole night, and to their credit really attempted to keep you company for most of the time, you’re not really surprised when you slip away to get a drink and return to find they’ve wandered off somewhere.
Honestly, with the way Himiko was eyeing off someone in the corner who looked eerily like Izuku, you’re actually kind of relieved. You’ll find them again later anyway.
You walk around aimlessly for a bit, a few drinks down and feeling nicely buzzed. When you pause in front of a bunch of boys playing King’s Cup (or at least, some abridged version of it from the look of the rules and the weird mixture in the cup), you could swear that you feel someone’s eyes on you.
Turning to your left reveals a very familiar silhouette, violet hair as wild as ever and heavy-lidded eyes sporting a lazy, amused curve.
“Fancy seeing you here,” Hitoshi says, turning his gaze to the game beside him for a moment. “Have I missed the fun?”
You laugh, taking a generous sip of your drink. It’s purple-pink, and tastes like pomegranate and roses. You can identify the alcohol in it by the remnant heat as it slides down your throat, though.
“I only just started watching this one, so I’m not sure.” You peer over, wrinkling your nose. “Whatever is in the King’s cup looks nasty, though.”
“Oh, ew.” Hitoshi immediately agrees, eliciting another laugh from you. “Almost makes me miss the banquets and carnivals of the Night Quarter.”
This festivity is actually one of the more PG ones. You’ve been to a few that are a hell of a lot raunchier, muchmore R-19, and more often than not they’re hosted in that part of Moonhollow. The Night Quarter is home predominantly to those of demonic descent, incubi and succubi included along with the occasional yokai. While there is no true segregation in this city, historically those of similar ilk tend to naturally gravitate towards each other.
“Not enough orgies for you?” you ask, and Hitoshi bursts into laughter. He takes a sip of his own glowing drink before giving you an answer.
“Definitely not,” he snorts. “Or at least, not for Izuku. I’m not even kidding, you should see him in his element. Get him in the Night Quarter and he’s like a completely different person.”
Hitoshi is always telling you this. “I’ll believe it when I see it, dude.”
“You won’t believe it when you see it,” he insists, laughing. “I’m telling you, he only looks cute and innocent.”
Quite frankly, you refuse to believe anything that comes out of his mouth right now until you see proof for yourself. Hitoshi has bamboozled you before, and you won’t let it happen again.
“Yeah, yeah,” you say, waving your hand. “Where is he, by the way? Don’t tell me you came here alone? All by your widdle sewlf?
The lavender-maned incubus rolls his eyes, but you catch the smile that tugs his lips. He tilts his head beyond you. “The stallion is over there.”
You turn, eyes seeking, and freeze. Izuku is over by one of the many drink stations, chatting to a small, familiar-looking group. That’s not what made your heart skip a beat, though. No, it was the glimpse of pearly-white hair you got when you first looked over. You don’t see it again in the moments following, though, and can only guess the owner had wandered off.
“Who was that talking to Izuku?”
You ask before you can stop yourself, and Hitoshi hums. “Ah, that’s Natsuo, one of the Todoroki kids. He only ever comes to gatherings held in the Marine Quarter, so Izuku tries to catch him when he can.”
You release a breath you didn’t even realise that you were holding, and you feel the reverberation of the music go straight through your chest. Ah, right. You’re spending tonight taking your mind off of everything that has been stressing you out – surely the universe wouldn’t be so quick to pull you up on your hubris? You need to chill out.
“Oh, I see,” you turn back to Hitoshi, downing the rest of your drink before shaking your cup. “Wanna come top-up with me and then hit-up giant jenga? I figure it’s probably one of the most human-friendly.”
The tall man agrees, downing the rest of his own drink and following your lead.
A long while later finds you leaning against the wall in a small little alcove, Hitoshi leaning back against the one opposite you with his feet between your own. You didn’t win jenga, but you also didn’t lose it either, so there’s that. The two of you ended up making the rounds through most of the weird shit happening in amongst the chaos of festivities, and he even managed to pull you into a brief dance that left you in a fit of laughter. You’ve lost count of how much alcohol you’ve consumed, and if you couldn’t hold your liquor so well, you’d most definitely be drunk by now.
“This is a good place to be in, drink wise,” you say aloud, mostly to yourself. You turn to Hitoshi. “Can you even get drunk?”
The incubus looks borderline offended. “Why would I even drink if I couldn’t get drunk? Stupid.”
You smack him lightly on the arm for that, and he laughs. You haven’t managed to find the two friends you initially came in with, but Hitoshi has done a good enough job of distracting you that your problems are the furthest thing from your mind right now.
The only thing you can’t seem to shake, is the thought of how nice he smells. It’s a characteristic of his genes, you know— the sweet honeysuckle scent that caresses your nose in the most unsuspecting moments. Your inhibitions are sufficiently lowered right now though, and you can’t help allowing yourself to acknowledge the thought.
“Did you forget whatever it was you were trying to forget?”
Considering you’d been completely lost in thought and staring off into the distant crowd of dancing bodies, the question takes you by surprise. You pin the incubus with a suspicious look. Since when was he in your head?
Hitoshi snorts. “I didn’t read your mind. You were just downing drinks like they were water, it wasn’t too hard to guess.”
You frown. You’re not sure you believe him, but it’s a lot of effort to be suspicious right now so you decide to let it go. You chew on your answer for a moment before releasing it into the air.
“Mostly.”
Hitoshi hums, leaning forward and craning his neck down slightly. His half-lidded eyes meet yours, still with that sense of playfulness that always seems to be present, but also something… different. Honeysuckle and traces of lavender swirl together, overwhelming your senses for a moment.
“Well, just how big of a distraction do you need?”
Your breath hitches ever so slightly in your throat, tummy doing a tiny little flip in something akin to excitement. You survey his features, scanning the open expression splayed upon them. Alright, you’re not opposed to this. You lean forward yourself with your eyes flicking to his lips, mouth opening to answer.
“I—”
“SHINSO!”
You jump in place, flinching back in bewilderment as familiar forest-hued hair blurs before your face. Hitoshi also flings back, eyes wide as they fall upon his friend.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you, I need your help with something.” Izuku’s voice is bright as ever, but as he turns his gaze to you over his shoulder, you feel something is different. “Oh hey, y/n. Sorry, I gotta steal Hitoshi for a sec.”
You shrug, bringing your drink to your mouth and hoping the action hides the warmth swarming to your cheeks. “Yeah, do whatever you gotta do.”
“Thanks, sorry again! See you later y/n!”
You refuse to believe this boy has a hidden side to him.
Hitoshi is then whisked away before he can even give you the apologetic look beginning to form on his features. With his departure, the haze in your head brought about by the alluring aroma of honeysuckle and lavender seems to clear. If that had continued, you might have jumped him. You really need to get laid if you’re going for one of your friends.
You’re kind of at a loss for what to do now, but to be fair you probably need a moment to pull yourself together. Hitoshi wouldn’t have let his pheromones out on purpose, since it’s normal to lose control when inebriated, but it doesn’t change the fact that shit is strong. That wasn’t even a quarter of the full potential. You’d have been in trouble if they were any stronger tonight.
You draw a deep breath in through your nose, allowing your eyes to close. Calm, calm is good.
A hand slips around your waist and immediately breaks the illusion of peace you’d summoned, and your eyes shoot back open.
Warmth emanates from your side, lips brushing the shell of your ear. A familiar sensation washes over your limbs at the proximity.
“We need to talk, a mhuirnín.”
Things happened very rapidly from the moment you heard someone in your ear, and a chaotic few minutes later finds you here.
In a room somewhat distant from the heart of the festivities, with none other than Shoto Todoroki. Perhaps it really was him you saw earlier. Probably should have looked a bit harder.
Shoto had led you here with a gentle grip on your wrist, and to be honest you’d just allowed him to pull you along. You saw his face and in your buzzed state its handsomeness had momentarily stunned you. Kind of sad, really.
The door clicks closed behind the two of you, but you notice that it doesn’t lock. When he draws closer, you see that he has positioned himself further from the door, and you closer. Oddly thoughtful, but it pains you a little bit to realise he is giving you an easy escape because you’ve been unreasonably dodging his presence like the plague everywhere you go.
“You’ve been avoiding me,” he says, without a single hint of accusation. You blink in surprise. His handsome features are neutral, and combined with his neat, dark clothes in stark contrast to the energy and crowd outside, it’s almost funny.
For once, your feet aren’t forcing you to flee. You decide to make the most of the opportunity.
“I have,” you admit, frowning a little. “Look… I should have said this sooner, but I’m sorry for how I acted when you came up to me. It’s not your fault, and I kind of just freaked out.”
Shoto tilts his head, reminding you of a puppy. You smack that thought down before it continues.
“You don’t have to apologise,” he says, and when his low, soft tone brushes your ears you find yourself relaxing involuntarily. His arms come up, hands cupping his elbows “I should have been more mindful of the fact that you’re… probably not used to things like that. I could have handled it better. I was just… excited. I apologise for making you uncomfortable.”
He continues to surprise you with each thing that leaves his mouth. His mismatched eyes are clear and earnest as they meet your own, thick brows drawn in a slight frown.
“As it turns out according to the magic, we are still married, though.”
Well, fuck.
The look on your face must be funny, because his lips tug up in a half smile. You can’t decide whether your heart dropped or skipped a beat as a result.
A different, familiar feeling is beginning to well in the depths of your chest. You attempt to squash the panic down, wanting to remain reasonable.
Shoto steps forward, head tilting once more. The music still booms in the background, but all you can focus on is him and the tingling feeling his gaze leaves on your skin.
“Why did you run, wife?”
For some reason, the term makes heat rush to your cheeks. It’s the alcohol, it has to be the alcohol.
Your sudden fluster has your mouth running before you can stop it.
“I- I can’t do it. I can’t just — This has all really happened so fast, and sudden, and I’m not ready for anything like this and I don’t – I don’t even really know you—“
You cut yourself off before you start sounding as panicked as you feel, and instantly regret the word-vomit you just released. A few beats of silence pass between you, each one weighing heavier on your shoulders, before the selkie finally hums.
“I have no intention of forcing you into anything,” Shoto says evenly, expression neutral despite the roiling depths of his mismatched eyes. Reading the look on your features, he seems to hesitate slightly before he continues, “Let me propose something, then. A bargain.”
Your eyebrows shoot up before you’re able to stop them. Shoto is offering to enter a faerie bargain with you? Something twists in your gut, a nameless feeling of unknown origin.
As though he can see the cogs turning in your head, the corner of his lips lifts in a half smile. He breathes in deeply, closing his eyes a moment before he lets the air go and meets your gaze once more.
The low, velvety timbre of his voice caresses your ears in the most persuasive of touches, almost succeeding in drawing your focus away from the important matter at hand.
“If you find that you do not have any feelings for me at all, come Midsummer’s Eve, then I will dissolve this marriage and leave you be.”
“That’s it?” you find yourself asking, disbelief colouring your words. Something deep within your chest is protesting his words, but you steadily ignore it. “If I don’t have romantic feelings for you in three months time, you’ll leave me be and you’ll drop this marriage thing?”
Shoto nods, and while his face still maintains neutrality, there is something solemn about the motion.
“You have my word,” he says, a glimmer flashing through his eye. “And as you know, I cannot lie.”
It’s rare for fae of any kind to propose a bargain that doesn’t suit them better in some way, so you find yourself reasonably shocked at the man’s words. You can’t find anything that would be a trick, can’t sniff out any possible loopholes. He has simply given you an out, a clearly marked exit from the situation you’ve found yourself in, and he’s presented it on a silver platter, It almost seems too good to be true, but in his defense… he hasn’t exactly been behaving in a way that is completely inappropriate. All he’s done is look good and call you ‘wife’.
“Okay,” you say, the word spilling out before you can lock it down. “You will have my answer by the end of Midsummer’s Eve. I agree to the terms of your bargain.”
Shoto smiles, and holds his hand out. His expression is kind, as always, but his smile… this one doesn’t reach his eyes. You ignore the way that observation makes your stomach sink, and take his hand into your own.
It’s like a spark of electricity, an instantaneous tingle that zips from the tips of your fingers and travels over your skin, up your arms. You don’t even realise you’ve gasped until you notice the look that Shoto is giving you, a mixture of amusement and fondness. It takes you a moment longer to realise that your hand is still holding his, and the deal has already been done.
You pull your arm away, the movement somewhat mechanical, but halt as you catch sight of something foreign on your skin. You’d offered your left hand to him, since that was the hand he had led with, and on that hand now lies the visual seal of your bargain. A delicate dance of white and scarlet winds around your ring finger, shifting and swirling over the back of your hand until it reaches your wrist, which it loops around once
Shoto’s eyes are trained on the mark, somewhat unfocused, as though he has become lost in thought.
“What a beautiful seal,” he murmurs to himself, before turning his attention absently to the one on his own hand.
While yours had been intricate and endearing like the curl and climb of ivy, his swirling lines are decorated with thorns and thistles. You’re confused at the sight – you would have thought that your marks would be the same, considering you’re equal parties in this bargain. Unless that isn’t the case…? You don’t really know enough about faerie law, you’ll have to go and do some research when you return home.
You do know, however, that Shoto frowns slightly upon seeing it, a look of poignant understanding flicking across his face.
He brings the hand to his chest palm resting over his heart, and turns his gaze to you. For a moment he simply looks, saying nothing, before a soft breath leaves him and he attempts a smile.
“I will let you get back, your friends are probably looking for you.” He turns, beginning to move towards the door.
“I’ll see you around, a mhuirnín.”
The sound of his receding footsteps mixes with the beats beyond the walls, and for a few moments you simply listen. When he reaches the door, words bubble in your throat.
“Shoto,” you call, before you can think better of it. You’re still in the same spot, flexing your hand like you expect to feel the mark branded painlessly on it every time you do. When he halts in the door way, head tilted slightly in your direction, you muster the will to continue.
“If, come Midsummer’s Eve, I find that I have feelings for you… what will happen, then?”
At your words, he turns his head so he can meet your gaze over his broad shoulder. The amused glint is back in his stormy hue, and a sly smile tugs his lips. You can feel your ears begin to burn in advance of his words.
“If, after three months time, you find yourself accepting of my feelings, the bond, and you come to me, wanting and willing... ” He hums, and the secretive curl of his lips is the last you see of his expression as he turns back.
“I suppose that’s something I can leave to your imagination, wife.”
He leaves before you can chase him out yourself.
— — —
Before he can even make it fully around the back of the building, Shoto’s gut seizes and his body convulses, hunching over. A wet cough rips from his throat and he retches, throat and nose burning from the acrid combination of bile and blood. He has a hand braced against the brick, nails catching against coarse, gritty clay as another round of spasms roil through his gut and leave him choking and sputtering. An explosive arc of dark, glistening maroon paints the building wall before him, stark in the moonlight.
As he leans, hunched over and braced heavily on the arm against the wall, he sincerely hopes there isn’t anyone who sees him in this moment of weakness. He is panting, attempting to catch his breath and banish that awful smell and taste from his senses. His eyes move of their own accord, boring into the ring of thorns that now gleam against his skin.
All of his life, he’d been told not to, had been warned of the consequences. He should have known better than to make a bargain he couldn’t keep.

synopsis- prince todoroki is on the quest to find out about his mother's death when he meets you - a mermaid. what will come of it when you both really get to know who the other one actually is?

for the todoroki family, being cut off from the wider kingdoms put them at a slight disadvantage in many ways - namely trade. however, whenever endeavour, shoto’s father yabbered on about it, all he could do was daydream about what was beyond their island, what was there to see beyond the walls of the shore.
for you, being underneath the sea was first nature for you, you knew nothing else of it. however, maybe due to you human mother, you had always had a fascination for the human world, for how they worked and lived. though, whenever you mentioned that thought to your father, your relationship became ever-strained. since your mother died at the hands of an unknown man on that island, your father had become cold and distant just like the rest of your 6 sisters. and though you knew humanity was to blame for the death of your mother, you couldn’t help but feel a strong calling towards the surface - towards a new life.
however, as the light shimmered through the clear blue waters, you swam gracefully throughout the sea determined to find more human ‘gizmos' for your ever growing collection in your cavern. your long iridescent tail propelled you throughout the waters, your sea-creature friends following behind you worried. with a mischievous look in your eye, you’d tease a passing school of fish by catching them off-guard before playfully darting away leaving the fish to continue on their journey. the water caressed your skin as you made your way towards another (more recent) shipwreck. carefully, you rummaged through the remains seeing fragments left behind from the humans up above: photos filled with love and adoration, letters that confessed their love for one another explaining concepts like ‘dancing’ which were so foreign to you. hours passed you in a flash and the clear blue waters turned navy but flashes of warm orange light flickered on the service.
enchanted, you made your way to the surface, a sense of never-ending wonder growing bigger inside you by the moment. an array of stimuli hit you at once: the loud booming of bright lights in the sky, exploding stars; fresh air hitting your face; sounds of boisterous men echoing loudly on the boundless expanse of sea. as you approached the festivities, you felt that for once in your life, you were so close to a dream that you had always wished for.
the men on shoto’s ship were loud, boisterous and he could hardly blame them - they were celebrating his birthday after all. january 10th. the weather was colder than usual and as dusk had rolled around, the only lights they had were the warmth of the lanterns strung on the ship. he tried his best to revel in the festivities of the ship however he had a nagging feeling. though his trip from the neighbouring kingdom was successful, he doubted his father would be impressed enough. his father’s assistant - keigo takami - warned him on multiple occasions he should stop living in this fantasy that he’s find something, someone, out here.
shoto was busy essentially brooding in the corner of the ship when takami ushered him to join in on his own festivities.
“it’s your birthday for god’s sake!” takami beginning to slur on his words due to his lack of self control. “ you need to give up on this fantasy of trying to find shit that isn’t there. you’re going to be a king.” though takami said it lightheartedly, built-up anger seethed in his chest. he knew something was out there - something or someone had saved his mother that night many years ago. that night, a beautiful melody rang out throughout his kingdom which echoed throughout his mother’s dying body. she had fallen off the ship but was brought to shore somehow. in his heart, he knew someone had brought her to them and though she never woke up, he was given the grace of never being left wondering about the whereabouts of his mother. through gritted teeth and an unwillingness to fight with keigo, he joined the festivities once again.
you watched all of this play out on the side of the ship, entranced by the events playing out. how they sang and danced and were smiling so bright, it competed with the explosions of stars in the sky. you watched eyes widened, particularly interested in the man they all seemed to be praising. though he tried to reject the contagious festivities in the air, not even he was immune to it, a small smile tugging his lips. he was beautiful you though, his hair was split - one side as white as the pearls in the sea and one side as red as the coral that was plentiful in your home. that prior dream burned inside of you, wanting to be one of them, you had to stop yourself from boarding the ship too. a cute animal had come to you, a black cat, one with the silkiest fur that was quickly taken away from you from a gentle calling from the dual-coloured hair man.
the festivities lasted for hours on end and as you were finally ready to go back to your home under the sea, a turbulent rumbling entered the atmosphere. all of a sudden, the calm waves became violent, hurling themselves against the boat, unbalancing the sailors on the ship. once a boisterous crowd became deathly serious. the sailors struggled to maintain their footing as the vessel tried its best to fend against the crashing waves. torrential rain hurled from the clouds tearing the lanterns from the strings causing an onslaught of fire to dominate the ship. paired with the winds that picked up with an eerie howl which helped the spread of the fire.
“abandon ship!” shoto demanded, his crew immediately following his orders. he searched frantically, making sure everyone was able to get off the ship. you did your best, underneath the water, guiding those towards the ship pushing away excess wood that had been ripped off the ship.
todoroki heard a distant meowing. one he knew well, he made his way towards his inky black cat, athena. quickly, he was able to save her from getting squashed by burning wood. as gently as he could, he hurled her towards his crew which were eagerly waiting for her (and him) to board. underneath, you gently guided athena towards the crew members wishing her a safe travel. the ship became more strained than ever, its timber groaning and creaking in protest, unable to withstand it anymore, it split in two, causing shoto to fall off the other side from the rest of his crew members.
overwhelming. water flooded all of his senses, it consumed him and he had no will to fight back against it. all he could wonder if this is how his mother felt all those years ago. alone and cold but at peace in a way. he lost consciousness, the thought of those who he loved easing him into a deep sleep.
adrenaline was present in every fibre of your body as you grabbed the dual hair coloured man and brought him to shore. you stayed with him till daylight (after making sure he would be okay till help arrived in the morning) admiring his features and how the rising sunset kissed them so gently. and as the sun rose, you sang your siren song to call the other sailors over to come and find him. a sense of disappointment washed over you as you were coming to the end of your song as the man interlaced his fingers with yours, becoming more conscious by the moment. though not fully awake, as he locked eyes with you, he felt as though his whole spirit had been restored and time had stopped completely so he could take you in. you were beautiful, stunning, the finest person he had ever seen. it felt like the atoms in the universe had conspired so they could be together, their souls respectively noticing something profound in one another.
though, he was too weak to convince you to stay, you hurried away, giving him a final squeeze and a quiet ‘good luck’. as soon as you left, time returned to its steady march continuing on as it did prior. and as he drifted back into a deep sleep, he could only see the way your kind eyes locked with his own.

You wanted to a guard so bad. Your older brother was a higher up guard in the castle, and you wanted to be just like him, you wanted to protect the kingdom!
Your older brother, Izuku, didn’t exactly approve of being a guard but he knew that you were just a child and wanted to play as if you were a real guard. The royal family knew that as well, often letting you pretend that you ere a guard. Especially Prince Shoto.
You absolutely loved him, he was definitely your favorite member of the royal family. You often went out to find him, pretending to guard him while he was doing something as simple as reading in the library or sitting in his throne. He didn’t mind it though, seeing you as a little sister.
Although, strangely enough he hasn’t seen you today. Shoto couldn’t lie, he was a little worried. Not seeing you for a full day was uncommon and it was only natural for him to worry a bit. You were his favorite guard after all. Shoto stops at the sound of small sniffles. He turns the corner, seeing you barely as you’re hiding behind a throne in the empty throne room.
Shoto is going to talk but is cut off by the sight of you softly crying behind the throne. You wore a fake guard outfit made of materials you could easily find, pots and pans on your shoulders and a basket on your head to mimic a guard’s uniform. “Y/n, why are you back here?” Shoto asks simply, watching you get startled a bit from his sudden appearance.
You look back, bringing your knees up to your chest. “One of the new guards told me I wasn’t a real guard and that couldn’t be one” you mumble. The castle had had a couple of new guards in training in the building recently.
It seems one of these new guards didn’t get the memo not to mess with you. Izuku was one of the highest trained guards and the leader of many of the armies. And Shoto was incredibly protective over you, which the new guard also didn’t exactly know.
Shoto sighs before sitting down on the marble floor next to you. “You are a real guard, don’t worry about what another guard says. I’m the prince and I say, you’re a real guard” He’s says, knowing he’s saying that just to make you feel better. He would never let you do any actual guard duties. But he would never want to hurt your feelings or make you upset.
You nod your head, still keeping your knees to your chest. “What if I get you a specially made uniform? Then you won’t be told that again” Shoto asks, seeing you finally look up, that sparkle back in your eye. “Really? A real uniform?” You ask, Shoto nodding at you to your bright smile.
“Can I have a sword too?!” You say, anxiously waiting to know because you really want a sword. Shoto smiles a bit, knowing that he would never allow to have a real sword.
Shoto would never put you in danger.

He started off as a vtuber on twitch, just to dip his toes in the shit show that is streaming. Probably had some sort of demon model, definitely the type A LOT of people simped for (think that streamer Shoto). His model was def how he got his first 1k followers.
Alas! He slowly opened up more, and eventually did a face reveal, of which went viral and trended, and then just started streaming with his real face.
He always has somewhat tousled hair with dark eyeliner. His eye’s are so captivating even through the screen!
His model is still beloved in the fandom, but now it’s a joke that he’s a slayer of demons because he “killed” the demon that possessed his channel.
Yeah, most of his followers are weirdo’s in that fun creative way.
He’s actually an artist, too, draws his own Twitch emoji’s and avatar.
He supports small artists, though, often commissioning Discord server emoji’s.
The king of vibing in a dark room with nothing but a bunch of colorful LED lights everywhere to provide light, as well as the king of streaming in the dead of night (for him, anyway). Starts his streams at 9pm most days, ends somewhere around 1am. This changes sometimes, of course, but you can clearly tell he’s some sort of night owl.
He’s always playing horror games, and absolutely did all the FNAF games in a month because he never played them when he was younger. Xiao is always looking out for his inner child that never got to do this sort of stuff.
Little shit does not get scared easily, jump scares don’t get him, but Archons when he played Phasmophobia with his streamer pals, Childe, Aether, and Venti, he was laughing his ass off at how easily scared they’d all get. Sadist.
He’s definitely regarded as one of the hottest Twitch men out there, and his discord is extremely chill. People are always on VC listening to music.
Has around 2.3 million followers!
He enjoys single player games the most like Skyrim, anything fantasy, and that’s because he’s not the most competitive person. Completely chill dude.
As Xiao’s following grows, so does his revenue from Twitch, and he tries to pay the community back after every stream by donating at least a thousand dollars to a small streamer he finds and likes. He’s more likely to donate to a vtuber, though, only because he has a soft spot for them since that was his beginning too.
Now.. Xiao is EXTREMELY reserved, people barely know anything about him. They know he’s 23, they know he likes almond tofu and tapioca pudding, they know he has a pet cat he found in a dumpster one day and named him “Dumpy” and a Parakeet, but they don’t know much else? Sure they know his Twitch friend group, and that he’s probably some ~city slicker~ (just a hunch, really), but that’s not really anything.
Yes.. that’s right.. they have no idea he has a s/o, you. (or so he thinks.)
It’s not like he’s ashamed or anything, he just sees no reason to talk about it.
Also the thought of him blubbering on about you like a love-sick fool on stream makes his face explode with a fierce blush.
But you’re so supportive! You’re literally the best!
He’s never mentioned having a s/o, but chat isn’t that dumb.
They can clearly see and hear someone walking into the room and handing him food and drinks - it’s especially noticeable during his bi-monthly 12 hr streams.
You guys actually met before he became famous, before he even hit 1k followers, you met on Twitch. You were a follower. How cheesy??
God, you joined his Discord and somehow immediately intrigued him with your goofy cute self.
Late night’s staying up on voice calls with you, just chatting about games and life.
He was very easy to get along with.. after you dug your way past that reserved exterior that is.. Such a tsundere. And sure, parasocial relationships with streamers is everyone's worst nightmare, but he was the one who confessed to you!
Aha! So you weren’t a creep for liking him!
Cue the online dating for one day because one day was how long it took for both of you to realize you live 15 minutes apart and could literally go meet up.
Brings you a lego flower because it lasts longer than a real flower <3
That was around four years ago, and he fucking grew FAST. (Thanks to becoming friends with a certain someone who’s in the top 50 most followed Twitch users).
Your sweet man who’s obsessed with parakeets.
Yeah, the parakeet and cat cuddle, his apartment is crazy.
Dumpy is usually found chilling on the couch behind him during streams, and his blue parakeet, Milk, can either be found on his shoulder, head, nuzzled against his neck, or gone (with you in the next room).
Has a redeem to kiss his pets for 10k points lolol.
Dating a streamer was definitely a challenge at first, I mean their schedules are CRAZY? He always make time for you, the light of his life, but streaming was his primary source of income, so he had to pour himself into that as well.
He gets burnt out rather quickly, so it’s not uncommon for Xiao to cancel a stream a few hours before he was supposed to go live, instead opting to worm his way into your arms on the couch and watch movies. He tends to fall asleep like this, often drooling, so watch out!
He always returns to Twitch with a pep in his step! Rarely smiles though.
His streams are actually really fun and entertaining, not too chaotic but fun enough for time to melt away so quickly. He’s usually calm and collected but FUCK he rages HARD when something goes wrong, like when a cyclops beats the shit out of him in Skyrim or a monster one-shot’s him in Monster Hunter.
I’m talking yelling at the screen, breathing heavily, but unlike most dudes who rage, he does all this while going right back at it, effectively using his anger to slay whatever beast pissed him off.
Afterwards he sighs, leans back in his chair and is like, “Ugh.. sorry..NO! I’M NOT A DEMON SLAYER STOP IT!” Aggressively drinks a juicebox.
He knows you watch him sometimes though, so he does that kpop idol heart thing with his fingers just for you <3 Granted, all the fangirls and guys go wild but yeah, it’s for you.
He also likes to cosplay, so his Instagram is filled with cosplay photos that you or Venti took of him.
He has so many side jobs- modeling (thanks a lot, Venti), selling art and merch, brand deals, he’s LOADED.
His childhood friend and small streamer, Zhongli, actually helps him manage his finances since Zhongli is a history nerd accountant.
You can expect merchandise all over your shared apartment, coolest tech pieces, so many games, literal heaven. So many cozy spots too, even has a little nook next to a wide window where he likes to read.
Yeah, he’s a book worm. Has cute reading glasses too.
He’s a weeb too.. so.. anime figurines. Nothing explicit, but yeah anime figurines. Loves those chubby little nendoroid’s!
One time before a stream, you put his hair up in a bun and he just left it.
So much fanart the next day..
You were actually the one who dragged him into playing Genshin, “I wanna play games with you!” How can he say no???
Only plays if you co-op with him, but of course his other streamer friends like Tartaglia and Scaramouche notice he’s online and join too for shits n giggles. They leave him to die to the bosses, you have to go save him haha.
Yeah. He’s a Genshin noob, but at least he has the funds to be op! He’s also a quick learner, so before long he’s got a better understanding about builds and what teams work best together than you! Pissed you off a little bit and he loves it.
After every stream, you’re usually asleep in the bedroom, so he smooches you on the cheek, crawls under the covers, hugs you close, and passes out for the next ten hours.
One time, though, he got SO tired at the end of the stream that he forgot to end the stream! He thought he did! Man got up and left!
Only found out he was still streaming when he walked into the game room loudly eating cereal the next day and saw his camera light still on and blinking.
Pictures of him with messy sleepy hair, droopy eyes, oversized sweatshirt, and knee-high kitty socks overtook the internet for three whole weeks.
He’s such a cute mess.

𝐌arriage wasn’t really part of your bucket list. At least not yet. You’d first want to learn about politics, governing and ruling, and maybe even find the love of your life along the way. But you knew that was too far fetched and being a daughter of a Barron is hard if you were to be asked. Your father had always wanted a son, but your beautiful mother gave birth to you instead and she was told she could never bear children anymore. Sure, your father always cherished you like your mother does, but you could see that glint in his eyes whenever a son of his subordinates came to see him for a meeting.
Your mother’s job was to be with your father till the end of their time, to love and be there for him at all costs, through sickness and health like they vowed. She doesn’t have a say in anything when it comes to decision making. She just… Loves him regardless. She knew how to read, how to paint and how to play the piano but she never got to work like your father’s job, because every woman is taught to be just on the stand by behind the men. Taught to just be there for support but never to rule.
And as a lady and a daughter. You also don’t have a say in the decision making. You always wanted to make your father proud, for he had such high expectations from you even though all you’re taught is to read, understand, paint, and to love. And he is going to put it to good use. Your mother tried to convince him it wasn’t a good idea, it’s still too early for that. But your father didn’t listen to her, he isn’t going to let this opportunity to rise slip through his fingers when the king Todoroki himself asked if he would like for his daughter, you, to be King Todoroki's son’s betrothed.
It is the first time you wanted to deny your father his wish. But he looked so hopeful, as if for the first time he wanted to depend on you. And so you agreed.
You have met the Prince once in a ball held by his majesty, but you never spoke to him. And now you’re inside the quarters of his castle. Sitting on the comfy bed alone as you tried your hardest not to cry. No mother to comfort you, just the empty silence engulfed you with the unfamiliar surroundings. Covering your mouth so that no one could hear you despite the halls being silent. The King showed kindness despite the rumors circulating about him. It makes you feel a little at ease that you’re welcomed somehow. But the tension at the dining hall was too much. King Todoroki had to do all the talking because it was only you, the prince and the King himself.
You huffed, wiping the tears off your cheeks, before opening the big curtains letting the moonlight seep in the big bedroom before jumping into bed, closing your eyes and hoping for a good start of tomorrow.
And that tomorrow came like years. You couldn’t sleep at all! So you just read all night long, crying, giggling, and chuckling all night. And the palace women were shocked to see your slightly red eyes, messy hair and a stack of books on your bed. “Oh, Princess! Have you gotten any sleep at all?!” Says the brunette girl, quickly rushing over to you with the other women holding your change of clothes and some towels, a bowl, and a pitcher of water fragranced with some kind of flower in it. “I am fine, please don’t worry! I hadn’t realized it’s morning already.” You chuckled embarrassingly before getting off your bed to take the bowl from one of the ladies.
“Oh no, please let us. His majesty ordered us to take care of you. Please, let us get ready for breakfast. Princess Fuyumi has been waiting to meet you.” The lady holding the bowl smiles. The Princess Fuyumi? At least now you’ll have company and you won’t feel lonely. You took your nightgown off, helping the women get you cleaned and dressed. You aren’t that shy since you also have women to help you dress back at your home.
They dressed you up in a light but elegant looking gown just enough for you to not get tired walking around on. “You look beautiful, princess. Please, let us go to the dining hall, the royal siblings are already waiting.” The brunette then leads you to the dining hall, which is oddly silent. There is Princess Fuyumi, and then your betrothed Prince Shoto. “She must be the lady?” Fuyumi points with a smile, standing up to greet you with a warm hug. “I am very much honored to meet you , Princess.” You bowed right after the hug out of respect.
You have heard of the good deeds she has done for the neighboring kingdom, and to the Iida clan. She is a very respectable Princess according to your readings. “Oh, you are so lovely! Come on, sit and let’s eat and talk.” She quickly pulls you to the seat next to her, and Prince Shoto silently watches you and his sister talk. “I heard of how my father made the deal. It must be hard for you.” She rubs your shoulders carefully and reassuringly. “I, uhm. It kinda is because I am still not used to my surroundings yet but I’ll make sure to manage day by day. It is an honor to be picked as the Prince’s betrothed.” You smiled shyly and she gave you a chuckle. “Oh, do not worry you’ll have me around until the two of you get married. That’s what me and my husband came here for.” She then takes your fork, and proceeds to take plenty of your pancakes to feed you.
Shoto watched amused but his stoic expression remained. A faint blush painted your cheeks, opening your mouth to eat it. “Aw, such a cute kid. Shoto, don’t just sit there and watch. You’ll be marrying her so at least talk once in a while. I heard from father that you hadn’t spoken to her once.” Fuyumi scolds, making you just want to run away from embarrassment. It’s not like she was embarrassing you, she was just trying to help lift up the moo a bit.
You didn’t dare look at the prince’s face, scared that he might be glaring at you right now. “We won’t force each other to talk if we aren’t comfortable. I’ll be going now. I have to prepare.” Shoto says before standing up to leave the both of you there. You sighed covering your face, Fuyumi slightly panicked at your discomfort. “Oh no, please don’t think he hates you. He’s just a little shy around new people and is probably mad about the marriage thing but he’ll come around somehow.” she then pulls you into a hug. And for the whole morning, she accompanied you. But unfortunately, she needed to go somewhere for business with her husband. And you are once again left to be on your own, but at least you got a beautiful garden to sit in right.
Not really, though the view of the town square is beautiful from here. You still felt lonely. In a big castle but no friends at all. You wish you could’ve asked your father to take your personal butler Shinsou with you so you wouldn’t feel lonely. “U-uhm! Princess?” A timid sounding voice called, you turned to see a green haired boy with freckles. He looked so scared so you gave him a smile as a gesture that you mean no harm. “Prince Shoto asks for your presence. P-please, follow me.” ‘So suddenly?’ you thought. He shyly turns around and you silently follow him. “I’m [name], I assume we’re gonna see each other often. Please don’t be scared.” You chuckled when he suddenly shrieked a little when you touched his shoulder.
“I’m Izuku Midoriya, the prince’s personal butler. It is an honor to serve you, Princess.” He stops to bow with a smile. Suddenly a bit of his shyness is washed. “Are you always with the prince?” You asked, catching up beside him. “Only around the castle or when he isn’t attending official matters. His highness forbids me to go with the prince.” You nod, he seemed nice and so you wanted to be his friend. “Will you come accompany me when he’s off to official meetings then? It gets lonely whenever I’m alone and… I don't really like that.``
“Oh, it'll be my honor, princess. But the prince is waiting inside, please go in.” He smiles, opening the big oak doors for you. There prince Shoto sits, looking over at the mannequins with different attires but all have partners and are complementary to each other. The maids and tailors have left the room, leaving you only with him. His gaze is enough to make you feel small on your feet, you wanted to go. “Do I scare you?” He asks so suddenly, Not daring to come close, the last thing he wants is overwhelming you. You’re already burdened enough with this arranged marriage, and he knows it must be hard.
And you couldn’t answer that at all. It’s not that you are scared of him, it’s just- “Is it the scar? Or do you just despise me?” He asks once again. You couldn’t bear how straight forward he is! You didn’t know what to answer. “I-it’s not like that, your highness! I just… Like I’ve said earlier I’m not quite used to this… I apologize, I’ll try to be as calm as possible with y-” “I don’t need you to force it. I want you to be comfortable.” He says with a stoic face. You’re flattered, and didn’t know what to say to that at all. Getting comfortable may take a while to happen, and the royal ball is the day after tomorrow. The king is holding a ball to celebrate the announcement of your marriage with him.
You aren’t even sure if you could make a public appearance with the prince. Everyone will be talking and congratulating the both of you thinking you’re in love. You thought it’s plain wrong to trick people but it’s for your and his family’s image. “I’ll tell my father to cancel the ball, just say the word.” He sits back down waiting for you to respond patiently. “Please no, let’s not make him mad. I’ll oblige to whatever he wants to, the last thing I want is my father’s wrath.” You ran up to him going on your knees to beg out of impulse.
“And I’m not scared of you or your scar. I also don’t despise you. It’s just that… You give off a really cold aura that it kinda scares me. But I promise, I’ll be good.” You held your hands together. Shoto was taken aback at your actions, he is shocked at the fact that you’re leaning on his thigh. And also being the first big reaction he got out of you. “Please, there’s no need for you to beg.” He helps you stand up and dust your dress. “Just pick the attire of your taste, we’ll go with it.” He gestures to you to look through the mannequins presented. And there are like 50 pairs in there.
The day went longer than you had thought, and it was also tiring and kind of overwhelming. Choosing the theme of the ball and all, but at least you had two gentlemen to accompany you throughout the day. But your feet sure are sore. “Princess, the king sent me to tell you that you’ll be having dance classes with the prince tomorrow. Please sleep early this time, his highness is going to be watching so it’s a must be on time. Have a good night's rest.” says the maid of honor before closing the door.
“What?” You whispered to yourself. Tomorrow is the only day you’ll be practicing, can you even manage to remember the steps?
It’s not that you didn’t know how to dance. You do but it’s the simplest once for the common balls. But this one? It’ll be special, not only to the king but also to the kingdom, for you and the prince are the next ruler. That simple thought is enough to get you overwhelmed . Again. What if you can’t even be a good Queen? What if the people don't accept you? You’re not even a princess in the first place, you’re just a noble from a small title.
How did you even end up in this place? Many questions are on your mind, you feel like you're getting choked up from the silent crying. You wished your mother was there to hug and comfort you. And then reality hits you once again. You’re put in this position on your will. But it’s not like you wanted it either.
You felt like you had no choice but to do so, for the sake of the name of your family. But what if you declined? Would your father hate you? Would he understand? Would he tell you that it’s alright to not do it? If you were a son, would he have loved you more than he does? Is he even proud of you?
You didn’t know it but, your cries are now louder, that it could be heard from the outside. And unbeknownst to you. A certain green haired boy is just outside, sadly staring at your door with a handkerchief in hand, for you had left it.
“Princess, please! The king is already waiting at the ball room! Please wake up!” The brunette, named Ochako, shook you awake. To your surprise, you’re already dressed and there’s breakfast beside you. “Please eat up quickly, I apologize for the rush but they have been waiting for 30 minutes now.” She apologizes with a bow. Your eyes widen before grabbing her hand out of the room. You’re still not quite familiar with the palace so you’ll need her to lead you there. Your feet hurt but still, you ran as fast as you could. “I’m sorry! I must’ve slept pretty late!”
“You’ve been reading again!?” She asks as the two of you ran, you just responded with a quick nod before. Nervousness filled your veins hearing muffled music from the inside. You slowly opened the door to see Princess Fuyumi with her husband, prince Tensei from the Iida family. They both danced to the music while Prince Shoto and the King stood there looking irritated while Shoto still had the same stoic expression. “The princess has arrived.”
The butler standing beside the door announces. The king was about to speak but then got interrupted by Shoto. “She was tired, she did the most yesterday. Let her off will you.” He glares at his father who couldn’t say anything but just clear his throat. “Please, let us proceed to the lesson.” And so it started. It started off slow and easy. But the gown is said to be pretty heavy and all the gowns were big so you needed to practice with a big gown too, to at least get used to it.
Your feet hurt, you badly wanted to take your shoes off but that would be inappropriate and unladylike. And then the twirling parts started, to the carrying and stuff. It had to be elegant for people's amusement. And now you’re dancing the steps all together without instruction. “You look pale, you haven’t eaten have you?” he asked as the two of you swayed and his hands were on your waist. You shook your head.
“I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to oversleep. My body just felt really sore and I had a really goodnight sleep.” You lied, biting the inside of your cheeks and looking elsewhere but to him. “Hm, let’s get this over with and you can have your leisure time. I’ll let you borrow Izuku. Take your maid with you.” He says stoically like always before lifting you up and back down to twirl you around.
The King looked satisfied as ever, you didn’t make any mistakes at all. So he dismissed the practice early. The Prince also had to leave for a meeting with his father and other governors and other politicians. Leaving you with Izuku at the garden again with Ochako preparing tea for the both of you. “You did really great, no mistakes at all. I can tell the King already favor’s you as the Prince’s bride now.” You blushed at his statement.
You rarely get praised by men, because they see your talents as a bare minimum and every woman should be able to know and do that. “It’s really cool, I got to take a peek. But princess, you walked a little limp. Is your leg alright?” She asks. You actually didn’t know what your leg looks like by now. But it does hurt more than it did earlier. “It’s probably just sore. I danced a lot after all.” You smiled, taking a bite out of the egg pie, happily.
“If you don’t mind, Princess. May I check?” Izuku bends down in front of you. You lifted the skirt of your dress up revealing your shoes. He took it as a ‘yes’ and carefully took your shoes off before your sock. And hell was he horrified. “Y-your leg it’s. It’s got a bruise in it! My majesty, are you not used to walking around in shoes like these?” He asks worriedly. “Let me go get some ointment! please take care of her for a moment, Deku.” She then runs inside.
“I don’t usually wear such formal clothes so I usually wear flat shoes back home. Don’t worry too much, that’s part of getting used to it.” You smiled. But after hearing you last night, he left pity towards you. Being thrown into a life you didn’t ask for must be hard. “I could request comfortable shoes for yo-“ “Then I won’t get used to it if I go the easy way. My mother told me that hurting one’s self unintentionally is part of the learning process. I’ll get used to it so stop worrying.”
He sighs in defeat, nodding while still looking at you. Your feet resting on his thigh while waiting for Ochako. “You guys join me. It feels weird eating alone.” You turned to the butler in waiting and asked for two more tea cups and out of nowhere took two out of his vest pocket.

You met Touya Todoroki when you were thirteen.
All your life, you had lived in a large town named Deika Village, located near a forest. You grew up with a fairly normal childhood, went to school with the other kids.
However, you had a secret: you and your family were witches. Your parents used their magic to help the village, making the crops prosper and kept the town safe from natural disasters or illnesses.
Nobody knew about your family secret because if people found out, you’d all be killed for witchcraft.
So, you put up the image of a non-magical child, and blended in with the other children, who got along with you.
Except for one kid.
His name was Goto Imasuji. He was tall for his age, had unruly blonde hair and onyx eyes. What stood out the most was how bulky he was, which earned him the nickname “Muscular”.
He called you mean names, pushed you around, and pulled on your hair. You don’t know what you did to piss him off at such a young age, but out of all the other kids he targeted, you seemed to be his favorite to harass.
Oddly, despite calling you “uggo”, he didn’t seem to like it when you interacted with other boys and would intimidate them into not talking to you anymore. You didn’t understand why, and just chalked his behavior up to him thinking girls were inferior to boys.
You tried telling the teachers, but they would dismiss you with the same excuses: “boys will be boys”, “just ignore him and he’ll leave you alone”, or, “if he’s mean to you, that just means he likes you” (there was no way in hell you believed that one, considering how many times he called you ugly).
Eventually, no one wanted to hang out with you anymore and would join Goto in bullying you, their fear turning into adoration. You were ostracized and excluded, the only kid with no friends.
That all changed when one day, you would meet a boy your age with snowy white hair and ice blue eyes.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
It was a chilly autumn afternoon when a family of six passed through your village, stopping to spend a few nights.
The family consisted of a husband and father named Enji Todoroki. He was an imposing man with spiky red hair, piercing blue eyes, and a permanent scowl etched on his face. His wife, Rei, was a beautiful woman with sleek white hair and warm gray eyes.
They had four kids; three sons and one daughter. The youngest was Shoto, who was no older than five, with dual colored hair that split right down the middle and heterochromic eyes. You rarely got to talk to him, but whenever you saw him, you’d always give him a polite wave.
The middle son was Natsuo. He looked just like Enji but had Rei’s palette. Out of his other three siblings, he had the most easy-going personality that was almost contagious.
Their only daughter, Fuyumi, was one year younger than you but you envied her looks. She had clearly inherited her mother’s beauty, with red streaks in her white hair, and was just as kind-hearted.
And finally, the eldest son, Touya. What stood out about him the most was how short he was for a boy his age. Despite how frail he looked, he was surprisingly strong and agile. Personality wise, he was reclusive and seemed to prefer being by himself.
The only way you met him was when you caught Goto picking on him for his height. You had stepped in and told your bully to back off, threatening to tell an adult if he didn’t stop.
The blonde menace glowered at you and called you an insult, but left like you told him to, not wanting to get in trouble, grumbling as he stomped away.
As soon as he was gone, you were about to ask Touya if he was okay, only to be met with a glare, like you had personally offended him.
“I didn’t need your help! I could’ve handled him!” He yelled indignantly.
Wow, rude.
“You’re welcome.” You replied sarcastically, turning up your nose at him as you stormed away.
You decided you’d never talk to him ever again, but fate had other plans, seeing as how the next day, Goto shoved you to the ground and shouted at you for interfering yesterday. Just as he was about to kick dirt in your face, he was suddenly pushed by a pair of hands and you heard a familiar voice.
“Leave her alone!”
You looked up to see none other than Touya, standing over Goto with his fists balled and teeth bared. You both made eye contact, and you could’ve sworn you saw his expression soften upon seeing you.
Before either of you could say a word, Goto stood back up and tackled Touya, bringing his fists down repeatedly. Touya was able to dodge his blows using his arms as a shield, but you knew that wouldn’t stop Goto.
With a surge of adrenaline, you leapt to your feet and kicked the bigger boy right between his legs.
He let out a pained wheeze, immediately clutching his groin, and with his hands occupied, you took the opportunity to punch him in the face as hard as you could. You then grabbed Touya’s hand and helped him up, running the both of you away to safety.
Once you two were far away enough, Touya pulled his hands out of your grasp so he could clutch his knees, worn out from running.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
Although you knew the correct response would be to thank him, you felt like being petty.
“I didn’t need your help. I could’ve handled him.” You replied snarkily, repeating his own words back at him.
Whether or not he knew you were being impudent, Touya rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Yeah, you really looked like you had everything under control with the way you were on the ground.”
You crossed your arms and looked away from him. “Whatever, it’s not the first time I’ve dealt with him and it won’t be the last, so don’t think he’ll leave me alone just because you told him to.”
You expected him to scoff again, or make another snarky remark, but he went silent instead, which prompted you to look at him again. He actually stared at you with concern.
“He treats you like that a lot, doesn’t he?” His voice sounded like he had seen this type of behavior before
You nodded solemnly. “Has for a long time.”
Your response caused him to tense up, thinking about all the times he had seen his father treat his mother the same way Goto treated you.
“I’m sorry.”
You furrowed your eyebrows at him in confusion. “What are you sorry for? It’s not your fault.”
“I know that!” Touya huffed, “I just feel bad that you have to deal with him everyday and nobody seems to stand up for you”
You sighed. “It’s not that nobody won’t stand up for me, it’s that those who did were threatened or hit by him.”
“That doesn’t mean you should have to be used to it.” Touya replied softly.
You felt your throat tighten and your eyes burn with tears.
“You’re right, I shouldn’t.”
What happened next was a blur; you collapsed to the ground and broke down crying. Suddenly, a warm pair of arms enveloped you, and a hand was gently patting the top of your head.
From that day on, you and Touya became friends.

By the time winter rolled around, Touya and his family left.
You were devastated. Despite his brief time in your village, Touya had become your closest friend. You two were practically attached to the hip, hanging out from morning until evening. You already had no friends to begin with thanks to Goto’s influence, and Touya didn’t either since he and his family were treated unkindly by your village for being outsiders.
The best part about being friends with Touya was Goto left you both alone, knowing that if he bothered one of you, the other would scare him away, knowing he couldn’t fight the two of you (he didn’t forget what happened to him last time and still resented you for giving him a bloody nose).
You revealed your magic to Touya, knowing he wouldn’t judge you, and in return, Touya opened up to you about what his family was like behind closed doors, how his father bribed Rei’s parents into letting him marry her, the way he physically abused Shoto, and neglected his other three kids, including him.
You were understandably horrified but now finally understood why Touya didn’t want you hanging out at his temporary house. He probably wanted to protect you from the monster that was Enji.
Despite your protests, Touya would beg you not to tell anyone else about his father. You didn’t understand why, but looking back, he was most likely afraid of what would happen to him, his siblings, and mother.
You even offered to let him stay with you for the night, but he’d always respectfully decline. Secretly, a selfish part of you wanted to share your room with him, because you had developed a crush on him. Though you both were comfortable enough to hug and hold hands, you wondered what it’d feel like to cuddle him, to listen to his heartbeat while he played with your hair until you both fell asleep.
The day Touya told you he and his family were leaving was the same day you were planning to confess your feelings for him. You never got the chance to because you cried in his arms while he apologized and sobbed with you. You both tried to enjoy your last day together, but it was hard to be happy when you knew you’d never get another moment like this with him ever again.
The next morning, you woke up early so you could say goodbye to Touya before he left. You wanted so badly to tell him how you really felt, but if he didn’t feel the same way, you didn’t want to ruin your friendship and part ways on a bad note, so you hugged him one last time, told him you’d miss him, and watched him leave your village with a broken heart.
You’d never forget the boy with crystals for eyes, who was the best part of your life.

As time went on, you grew up, and now that Touya was gone, Goto had resumed teasing you, only his insults had changed. He made inappropriate remarks about your maturing body, touched you intimately just to make you uncomfortable, and possessively referred to you as “his girl”, like you were his girlfriend instead of his victim.
One day, he went too far and groped your rear end when you weren’t paying attention. That was your final straw.
You told a teacher, but when confronted, Goto replied that he had accidentally bumped into you. Unfortunately, the teacher believed him, and as soon as you were both alone, he cornered you with his burly arms and threatened you to not snitch on him ever again or he would “do something worse”.
You didn’t know what he meant, but the dark look in his eyes was enough to scare you into submission, so you nodded and promised to keep your mouth shut.
He smirked in satisfaction and called you a good girl. You wanted to throw up and slap him across his smug face.
As soon as he let you go and left, you ran outside until you reached the spot you and Touya first met and had an emotional breakdown.
You wished Touya was here, so he could comfort you while you told him about what Goto did and then kick his ass later. If Touya was still here, Goto would’ve never bothered you in the first place, and you might have been spared from being humiliated and threatened by him.
You hoped he would come back to you someday.

Ten years passed and you were now a full grown woman in your twenties.
After your parents died of old age, you inherited their house. You had given away most of your childhood belongings to the younger kids and whatever belonged to your parents had been buried with them.
You adjusted to your new life and became a waitress at a tea shop. Although your boss was a strict, middle-aged woman who grated your nerves, she paid you well and the tea shop was a peaceful place to work in, so you stuck around.
You were happy. You liked your job, you liked your pay, and you liked the customers.
Except one.
Even years later as adults, Goto still continued to torment you. However, he would continually ask to bed you, and you always turned him down. Your rejection didn’t dissuade him, and he refused to take your no for an answer. It was like he was hoping that you’d eventually change your mind if he wore you down enough.
To make matters worse, a year after your parents died, some unknown beast made its home in the forest near your village.
It made itself known when it mauled anyone who trespassed onto the area it marked as its territory. At first, everyone thought it was a bear, until a survivor said it wasn’t. Although they didn’t get a clear look at the predator, they claimed it was larger than a bear, and ate its victims. The bears in your forest were herbivores.
To appease the creature, the village leaders offered criminals as sacrifices, and in return, innocents were spared. Nobody knew about the sacrifices, not even you. This was done purposely so the crime rate wouldn’t go down, lest your village lose people to offer as food.
What was most odd about the monster was that it was only active during full moons.

“For the last time, Imasuji: I’m not interested.”
“Aw, why not, sweetheart?” Goto asked with a fake pout. The audacity of this man.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because you were mean to me when we were kids?” You hoped your sarcasm was obvious.
Goto only threw back his head and laughed in response. “Y/n, that was the old me! I’ve changed.”
At least, that’s what he believed. You had seen the way he treated other people, especially the men who were nice to you, and nothing about him changed. He was still the egotistical brat you knew since childhood. The only reason nobody ever called him out for his behavior was because they were either too scared or regarded him as some sort of deity simply because he was the best hunter in the village. He also had a few women who were infatuated with him, and you had to endure the scathing looks they gave you out of jealousy.
You even had other people try to convince you to give Goto a chance, claiming he’d make an excellent husband who’d be able to provide for you (and any future children).
If only they knew what a walking red flag he was.
“Imasuji, either order a cup of tea or leave if you’re just going to waste my time.” You seethed. As much as you wanted to smash a teapot over Goto’s head, none of the fine china belonged to you and therefore, weren't yours to damage.
Goto regarded you with cold eyes and a lecherous smirk, “Your parents never taught you your role as a woman. You need a man to put you in your place.”
Rather than humor Goto by wasting your time arguing with him, you excused yourself behind the shoji. You could really use a hot cup of tea.

When you were finally allowed home, you walked to your backyard where your vegetation was growing. One of the stalks was drying up, so you looked around, and when you were certain there was no one else around, you whispered a spell incantation and the plant grew rapidly.
Not only did you grow fruits and vegetables, you also grew flowers. The most abundant were your nemophilas. They were a beautiful shade of blue, almost similar to the eyes of-
You shook your head, not wanting to get emotional over your childhood friend. You couldn’t help but wonder if he thought about you the way you thought about him.

The smell of brewing tea seemed to overwhelm you as you entered the shop the next morning. You chatted idly with the customers, which helped distract your mind from yesterday’s nostalgic memories, and you were confident your day would go smoothly.
Until a certain blonde walked in and soured your mood.
As usual, he flirted with you, despite how busy you were, but what caught you off guard was when he said:
“Marry me, y/n.”
You had nearly dropped the tray you were carrying. It wasn’t even a question; it was more of demand, as if your feelings didn’t matter to him.
“Why do you want me to marry you? Why should I marry you?” You asked, appalled.
Goto smirked, “Because you’d make a fine wife for me. You wouldn’t even have to work here anymore,” he gestured to the shop surrounding him. “All you’d have to do is stay home, cook, and clean.”
He then leaned forward, leering. “And give me children.”
“W-what?!” You spluttered.
“I prefer sons, but if we have daughters, I’ll teach them to be future wives for their husbands-“
“No.”
Goto went silent, and you could’ve sworn you saw his face twitch before he quickly smiled again, only it didn’t reach his eyes.
“You didn’t even let me finish-“
“You don’t need to, Imasuji.” You snapped. “I don’t want to marry you and I never will, so just drop it already.”
Goto’s grin became more menacing, and he leaned down to make you feel smaller. You hadn’t felt this scared of him since the time he threatened you to stay silent.
“I’d reconsider your answer if I were you, y/n.”
Despite the warning bells going off in your head, you were too prideful to let yourself be intimidated by him.
“Or what?” You challenged.
There was a shattering sound, and you realized he had gripped his cup so hard that the glass broke, tea and blood leaking from his fingers.
“Or you’ll regret it.”
Don’t push it don’t push it don’t push it don’t push it don’t push it don’t push it don’t push it-
“I’d regret marrying you rather than staying single for the rest of my life.”
You heard a gasp, and, to your embarrassment, saw that the whole shop had been watching you and Goto. Everyone looked at you like you were the crazy one instead of the creep invading your personal space.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Goto snarled, and then turned around to leave the shop.
Before anyone could berate you for turning him down, you bolted to the shoji and felt yourself having a panic attack after what happened.
You couldn’t breathe, your heart felt like it was going to burst out of your chest, and you had begun to cry. You grabbed one of the zabutons and clutched it for comfort, the soft fabric bringing you back from your hysteria. Finally, you began to calm down, and did breathing exercises, your heartbeat slowing down.
Suddenly, the shoji opened quickly, revealing your agitated boss and making you gasp. She looked down at you with annoyance.
“What are you doing back here? We have customers!” She yelled shrilly, seemingly uncaring of the tear tracks on your face.
You stood up and hastily wiped your uniform, “Sorry, I had a breakdown and needed to be alone.”
Your boss stared at you critically before sighing in irritation. “Fine, you can go home early. Can’t have you crying in the tea.”
You chose to ignore her passive aggressive remark and thanked her for letting you leave. You quickly made your way home, ignoring the curious stares from the other villagers. Luckily, Goto wasn’t one of them. You didn’t think you could handle another panic attack, especially outside for everyone to see.
Once inside your house, you locked your door and closed the curtains to the windows. Although you hadn’t seen Goto since this afternoon at the tea shop, you still felt paranoid that he’d be outside your home.
You retreated to your bedroom and changed into your nightgown, figuring a nap would help calm your nerves. Under the safety of your blankets, you fell asleep immediately, hoping you’d feel better when you woke up.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
You were awakened to the sound of fierce knocking at your front door.
Jolting up, you stood from your bed and walked to your window, peaking through the curtains. Outside, were some of the villagers and the leaders, holding torches and rope.
You felt uneasy, especially since it was already nightfall. Had you really slept that long? And why were there so many people at your front door this late?
The knocking became more aggressive, and you knew if you didn’t answer, then your door would be kicked down. Grabbing a red silk robe, you covered yourself since you were still wearing your thin nightgown. Normally, you would’ve changed into more appropriate clothes, but you had a feeling they wouldn’t wait any longer.
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” You yelled impatiently, hoping the villagers heard your agitation. You unlatched the locks and opened your door ajar, keeping as much space possible between you and your unwanted visitors.
“May I help you?”
“L/n, step outside, please.” One of the leaders said, leaving no room for argument.
“Why?” You asked suspiciously.
“Step. Out. Side. Please.”
Not wanting to cause trouble, you did as told and walked out your door. You stared up at your leader, trying not to look as nervous as you felt.
“L/n, we’ve received word that you might be a witch.”
You did a double take. “I’m sorry, what?”
“We heard from Imasuji that he caught you using magic outside your house.”
The fiend himself appeared from the side of your house, arms crossed and smirking. You had a feeling why he would accuse you of witchcraft.
Unknown to you, he had followed you a few nights ago and saw you whisper the spell incantation to make your plants grow. Your refusal to marry him was the final push for him to decide that if he couldn’t have you, then no one could.
“That's a lie, I’m not a witch.” You responded. Your leader didn’t look convinced, and forced himself, along with and Goto, inside your house for inspection, despite your protests.
At first, they didn’t find anything that looked suspicious, like potions or animal familiars, so you assumed you were safe, until Goto came out of your bedroom.
“I found a spell book!”
You felt your blood turn to ice. It was your family’s spell book that had been passed down for generations. At this point, you knew there was no point in lying because you had been caught.
“Okay, fine, it’s a spell book and yes, I used magic to make my backyard grow faster.” You admitted, “That doesn’t mean I’m an evil witch! I’ve only used my magic for good.”
The crowd began cornering you and you felt multiple hands grabbing you, tying your wrists behind your back. That would explain the rope.
As you were escorted out of the village, everyone cursed and spat at you, saying you deserved to die and that you were going to hell.
You had never felt so betrayed.

There was a full moon in the sky, giving you some light as you were led out to the forest.
It was bad enough you had a shitty day, now you were having a shitty night.
After walking for a few more minutes, you arrived at a large tree, far away from your village. You wondered if you were going to be hanged because of the rope, but instead, the leaders began tying you to the trunk, binding your arms behind you.
When you asked if you were just going to be left outside all night, you were then told of all the previous criminals before you who had been offered as sacrifices to the beast, and you were horrified.
You vowed that the leaders wouldn’t get away with their sins, but they laughed you off and, as one last act of defiance, you spat in one of their faces.
Now, you had been left alone to die at the claws of some unknown monster.

The monster himself raised his nose to the sky, smelling fresh blood in the distance. His stomach rumbled with hunger and he took off on all fours.
Ever since he marked the forest as his territory, he couldn’t control his primal instincts and had accidentally killed a few people in his starving frenzy.
Then, one night, he saw a man tied to a tree. The animal in him dominated his humanity and all that was left of the poor soul was a mangled, bloodied corpse.
From then on, during every full moon, he would find someone left out for him to eat and he would be satisfied for the rest of the night. Humans were more filling than animals.
The smell of blood became stronger as he neared his prey, and drool began flying off his muzzle as he ran faster. He growled with excitement.
He couldn’t wait to devour his next victim.

You pulled at your binds, trying to free yourself, but it was no use. The more you strained, the more the rope dug into your skin, leaving red, painful welts.
You knew there was no point in calling for help. There was no one else around, and all you’d do was attract an animal, or the beast itself.
You hoped it wouldn’t find you, or would ignore you instead of eating you alive. You’d rather stay tied to the tree and die from either starvation, dehydration, or exposure than be mauled to death.
Despite your resolve to stay strong, you felt your eyes begin to water at the shittiness of the situation you were trapped in. Your family secret discovered all because you refused to marry your childhood bully, finding out that the village leaders were murderous sociopaths, and neither of them would be punished, while you were paying the consequences for their actions.
Your head snapped up when you heard the sound of twigs snapping and large footsteps approaching you. The birds in the trees across from you flew away, panicked.
Oh god. It was coming for you.
You finally began to openly sob. Why bother keeping quiet when it knew where you were? You prayed that your death would be quick.
Then, from the trees emerged the creature itself. You couldn’t hold back the gasp that escaped your mouth, eyes widening in horror.
It looked like a wolf, but it was bigger than a bear and stood on its hind legs. Its fur was white with gnarled, purple scars underneath its eyes, covering its lower face and neck, all the way down past its collarbone. Its chest, arms, and legs were a patchwork of fur and scars. But the most striking feature was its glowing blue eyes.
Its muzzle formed into a snarl, drool dripping from its sharp teeth. You could see the black, protruding claws from its fingers. You didn’t know which looked worse: the fangs or talons.
It lowered itself on all fours again and began to slowly approach you, as if taunting you. By now, you were loudly weeping, thinking about all the friends you’d never see again. You wanted to live a long life and die peacefully in your sleep from old age, not like this.
The wolf-like beast sniffed you, its nose pressing against your body. You cringed and looked away, feeling like your personal space was being violated. Why was it dragging this out? To antagonize you?
Suddenly, it jolted its head back, as if electrocuted. It stood on its hind legs once more to get a better look at you. Then, its eyes widened in realization.
“Y/n?”
Your eyes flew open in shock and you turned your head to look at the bipedal wolf, jaw dropping. It just spoke to you, and it knew your name. Did it know you? And did you know it?
“How do you know me?” You asked in a shaky voice.
“Y/n, it’s me, Touya.” It replied in a masculine voice.
You felt like all the air left your body at the mention of the familiar name. There was no way this giant apex predator was your beloved childhood friend.
“Stop tormenting me,” you demanded, though your tone sounded more like a plea. “You’re not Touya. Don’t lie to me!”
Its face looked genuinely hurt but it gently grabbed your chin with its thumb and index finger so you were face to face. Despite its large claws, it was careful not to scratch you.
“Look at me, y/n. Look at me and you’ll see.”
Despite your better judgment, you did as told, studying its face. Even with the pointed ears and muzzle, something about it did look familiar.
Then, you stared into its eyes, and memories of a blue-eyed boy whom you fell in love with invaded your mind with flashbacks.
“…Touya?”
The wolf smiled and nodded his head, “Yes.”
“But how?” You asked, “You were human when we met but now you’re…”
Unable to figure out what exactly he was, your voice trailed. Touya, however, didn’t seem offended, and let go of your chin. “Let me get you out of these ropes before I explain everything.”
He circled around the tree and slashed your binds with his claws, never once grazing your skin. With your arms free, you began to rub your sore wrists as Touya entered your field of vision again.
“First off, I’m a lycanthrope, also known as a werewolf.” He explained, “I only take this form during full moons. My entire family are werewolves, too. Lycans are born, not made.”
“Why didn’t you tell me when we were kids?” You asked, feeling somewhat hurt that he kept such a big secret from you.
Touya sighed, “We’re not supposed to tell humans about our kind, or they’d probably try to kill us all.”
There was a few seconds of silence before you threw yourself at Touya, wrapping your arms around his middle while crying into his fur.
“I missed you so much, Touya.”
Touya stiffened, taken aback by the sudden hug, but then relaxed and wrapped his arms around you, lifting you up so your feet were off the ground. He inhaled your scent, familiar with the pheromones since he first met you.
“I missed you too, y/n. I thought about you everyday after I left.”
You heard a swishing sound behind Touya, and peeked over to see his large white tail wagging. It was cute, knowing he was this happy to see you again.
Touya placed you back on your feet but neither of you pulled away from the embrace. You had to look up at him due to the height difference. It was then you remembered the scars littering his body.
“These scars… how did you get them?” You asked before realizing you may have overstepped a boundary. Luckily, Touya didn’t look angry, only sad.
“When I came of age, I left my family and traveled to find a new home. I ended up in a forest called Sekoto Peak. Another village saw my werewolf form, and lit the forest on fire in an attempt to kill me. I survived, but was left with these burn scars.”
He shuddered as he recalled the heat, how the fire was so hot that it turned blue. Had he not found a creek and jumped in the water, he would’ve been cremated.
You felt tears roll down your face, which Touya wiped away with his thumbs. “Oh, Touya…”
“It’s okay, y/n,” he said gently with a soft smile, “they don’t hurt me anymore. Now, I have a question for you: why were you tied to a tree?”
You were the last person Touya thought would commit a crime. You were feisty, that he knew, but he couldn’t see you doing anything illegal or immoral.
Your face twisted into a scowl as you looked away, “Remember Goto Imasuji? He accused me of witchcraft because I refused to marry him.”
There was silence as Touya processed what you said before his shock was replaced with fury. His fur bristled and he bared his fangs, though you knew his anger wasn’t directed at you.
“He fucking WHAT?!”
You hadn’t seen him this pissed since the time he caught Goto bullying you. Funny how both times were because of him.
“He caught me using magic on my crops, which was stupid on my part, but I thought I was alone.” You confessed, “Goto saw me, told the village leaders, and when they invaded my home, they found my family’s spell book.”
Touya snarled with rage. How dare the leaders leave you to die, all because a man felt entitled to have you? He was going to make them pay, especially Goto.
“I’m going to kill them all.”
You opened your mouth to protest, until you recalled not only how terribly Goto treated you, but the leaders and the entire village.
Your anger began to rise as you remembered how they all betrayed you, and now you hated everyone. If they saw you as an evil witch, then you would become what they feared.
“No, we’re going to kill them all.”

Back at your village, the residents set your house on fire to “cleanse” their town from your magic. The leaders had gathered around to celebrate your demise. Goto had stolen a few of your clothes for himself when nobody looked.
There was a scream from someone, and everybody ran to the source to see a large, white bipedal wolf sprinting full speed, with you on its back, before coming to a stop.
“She’s alive?” Goto asked in disbelief. You glared down at the blonde man. Your red cloak billowed behind you in the wind, the color matching your hatred.
“Yes, I’m alive, but you won’t be.” You promised darkly, “Before I enact my revenge, I want everyone to know that your leaders have been offering our people as sacrifices to the beast.”
There was a gasp in the crowd, and you continued, “And the only reason I was accused of witchcraft was not because Goto Imasuji cares about the village, but because I refused to marry him.”
Goto snarled and pointed a finger at you. “She lies! Do not believe this monster!”
You narrowed your eyes coldly at the blonde. “No, Imasuji, the real monster is you.”
“Do you have proof of your accusations against us, witch?” One of the leaders asked accusingly, and this time, Touya spoke up.
“Me, for I am the beast they have been offering sacrifices to.”
Everyone gasped in horror, and Goto raised his spear. “The creature stands before us with the witch! Don’t just stand there, kill them!”
Before he could make the first move, you extended your hand and blue flames shot out, engulfing Imasuji. He screamed in pain as the fire consumed him, until he was reduced to a charred corpse.

-flashback-
“Touya, I know this is asking a lot from you but I need you to remember the fire you were in.”
The werewolf shifted uncomfortably and you sighed. “I know you don’t want to, but in order for me to use my magic, I need to absorb the memories of the fire. Do you trust me?”
Touya went silent, and you feared he was going to say he didn’t, until he finally spoke.
“Yes, I trust you.”
You smiled reassuringly and placed your hands on either side of his face. He closed his eyes and you felt like you were experiencing what he went through:
The heat from the flames, the gorgeous yet deadly blue color, the smell of smoke, the excruciating feeling of your skin burning-
You pulled away with a gasp as you were brought back to the present. Touya looked distressed, his eyes still tightly closed, so you reached up to gently rub his ears. He immediately relaxed and his chest rumbled, like he was purring.
Releasing his ears, you concentrated all your magic and a small blue flame ignited in your palm.
You extinguished it and Touya knelt down so you could climb on his back. You held on to the fur on his nape as he ran through the woods to your village.
They had no idea what they were in for.

Your village erupted into screams as everyone, including your leaders ran, terrified that they would suffer the same fate. You jumped from Touya’s back and set a blazing ring of fire surrounding your town so no one could escape.
“You know what to do, Touya.”
With a growl, the werewolf sprinted after anyone who was too slow, and whoever wasn’t mauled by him was burned by you.
Eventually, the chaos went silent, and what was left of your village was ash and dead bodies. Touya stood beside you, his white fur covered in blood
A few children came out of their houses, yawning and rubbing their eyes, to see what all the commotion was. When they saw the corpses, they began to cry and wail in grief.
You felt you heart break with guilt, and Touya looked remorseful, too. As inhuman as he was, he couldn’t bring himself to harm a child.
Quietly, you whispered a fatigue spell, and watched with relief as all the kids lay down to sleep for the final time. At least they would pass peacefully and not have to live the rest of their lives as orphans.
With no one left alive, you summoned a weather incantation and thunder rumbled in the sky as a steady downpour extinguished the fire.
Climbing on Touya’s back again, you both headed back to the forest.

You knew eventually you and Touya would have to depart again, so you did what you should’ve done years ago.
“Touya, there’s something I have to tell you.”
You felt him tense up before he asked, “Is it good or bad?”
You laughed quietly, “Depends on how you react.”
“Alright, what is it?”
You looked up at him, still keeping your arms wrapped around his waist. “When we were kids, I developed feelings for you. I wanted to tell you, but then you and your family moved away, so I never got the chance to.”
Touya didn’t say anything, and you expected him to pull away from the hug and tell you he didn’t feel the same way. Instead, he looked down at you with wide eyes.
“You… you liked me?”
You smiled and shook your head. “No, Touya, I loved you.”
There was a familiar swishing sound, and you looked behind Touya to see his tail wagging again. “I’m glad you told me because I felt the same way about you, too, y/n.”
Your heart felt like it was going to burst out of your chest from happiness. “You loved me, too?”
Touya smiled and reached a hand up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. “Knew I did the moment I saw you kick Imasuji in the crotch.”
You let out a watery laugh as your eyes brimmed with happy tears. Standing on your toes, you pressed your lips against his muzzle, catching him by surprise. In return, he leaned down and affectionately licked your cheek, making you giggle.
He pulled back to look at you tenderly, and you felt you core begin to heat up, making you rub your thighs together. “Touya, make love to me.”
Touya raised his eyebrows, “Right here? Right now?”
You nodded, unable to wait any longer. “Yes, I want you, Touya, in every way possible. Please, touch me.”
Upon hearing your plea, something primal awakened in Touya. Not the urge to hunt, but the urge to claim. He gently tilted your head back and lowered himself to lick your neck. You ran your fingers through the fur on his nape in encouragement, and he lightly nipped at your throat with his teeth. He slowly removed your robe and nightgown, letting the garments fall to the ground around your ankles.
When he finally pulled away, your eyes were hazed with want, and you looked even more beautiful to him. He suddenly became self conscious about his appearance, worried that the scars would turn you off, so he spun you around until you were facing the tree.
You looked back over your shoulder to see him get down on his knees, hooking his claws in the waistband of your panties to pull them down. You gasped when his cold, wet nose nudged against your clit. Bracing your arms against the tree, you arched your back.
You heard Touya growl in satisfaction and he used his thumbs to spread your folds apart, revealing your pretty pussy to him. Unable to wait any longer, his tongue licked up and down your slit.
You moaned and rested your forehead against the trunk, grinding your hips against Touya’s face from behind. He moved his hands up from the back of your thighs to cup your buttocks, massaging the supple flesh in his palms. He hummed at the taste of your fluids, the vibrations stimulating your inner walls.
Touya felt his cock harden and stick up, leaking precum. Slowly, he pulled away from your folds, a trail of his saliva and your cum connecting to his tongue. You were about to whine about the loss of contact, until you felt him lightly bite your ass cheek, making you yelp. Touya chuckled with your glute still between his teeth, before he let go and licked the bite mark he left. He trailed his tongue up your back as he began to stand up.
He stood to his full height, hands gripping your waist as he pressed his tip into your opening. You whined and he stilled, his mushroom head halfway in.
“Tell me you want it,” he growled. “Tell me what you want, y/n.”
You looked up at him from over your shoulder and grinded your ass against his length. “Please, Touya, I want you inside of me. Make me yours.”
That was all he needed to hear. He slowly pushed himself in you, grunting in pleasure at how tight you felt around him. Your mouth dropped open in a loud moan, feeling so stuffed and full. His girth filled your walls, and the long length touched a certain spot inside that made you see stars.
Touya paused, waiting for you to get adjusted to his size before he began to slowly thrust himself in and out. Your feet were dangling off the ground as his large hands encircled your hips. You stretched your arms above your head, nails scratching the bark.
Despite his large size, Touya was careful not to hurt you. Even though his animalistic side wanted to dominate you, he knew you were still human. Your submission was enough to satisfy his inner wolf.
A particular hard thrust caused you to throw your head back and moan, exposing the side of your neck. Unable to control his primal urges, Touya’s fangs elongated and he bit down on the soft flesh. Your eyes rolled upwards at the mix of pleasure and pain.
Touya pulled away, licking the bite mark he left on your neck, then suddenly maneuvered you so you were leaning back against him, his arms under your legs. You wrapped your arms around his neck from behind as he fucked you in a standing full-nelson.
Sliding his arms up further until the backs of your thighs were resting off his inner elbows, Touya’s hands crept up to cup your breasts, pinching your nipples between his fingers. The sensitivity made you mewl, grasping the fur on his neck. You felt like something inside you was going to burst, and you knew you were close.
“T-Touya, I’m-“
You didn’t need to finish your sentence, because Touya brought his long tail around and rubbed your clit with the tip, making you scream in ecstasy as you and Touya both reached your climax together.
Once you both came down from your high, Touya gently lowered you so your feet were touching the ground again but kept his arms wrapped around you, knowing you were too jelly-legged to stand. He then sat down on the grass, pulling you with him so you could sit in his lap.
You snuggled your face into his furry chest, sighing contentedly. Although the night air was chilly, his pelt kept you warm. Something was still gnawing at your mind, so you looked up at your beloved.
“Touya, why didn’t you let me look at you?”
You saw Touya’s jaw tighten, and you worried you may have ruined the mood, but his hand reached up to stroke your hair, tucking a few damp strands behind your ear.
“I thought my scars would make you change your mind about me.”
There was a vulnerability to his voice that ached your heart, and you sat up to straddle him so you both were face to face.
“Touya, your scars don’t disgust me at all. I love all of you, and I hope you can learn to love yourself the way I do.”
Tears began to well up in Touya’s eyes. For years, he wanted his family, especially his father, to look at him, only to be denied that wish. Yet, here you were, looking at all of him with the love and adoration he longed for since he was a child.
You kissed his forehead and gently pushed him down so you were on top of him while he lay beneath you, looking even more ethereal as he stared up at you. You began to grind your pussy against his hard-on.
“Let me make you feel beautiful, Touya.”
Slowly, you sheathed yourself onto his cock. Touya threw back his head and gritted his teeth, hands coming up to grasp your thighs. Once he was fully inside of you again, you began to slowly bounce on his length.
You heard Touya mutter curse words, knowing he felt just as good as you did. He thrusted upwards into you, matching your pace. When he opened his eyes, he saw your breasts bouncing and pulled you down closer so he could lick one of your nipples, making you whimper. His hands traveled down to cup your buttocks in his palms, claws ever so slightly digging into the plush skin. You yelped in surprise when he spanked your ass before massaging the mounds afterwards.
You felt your second orgasm approaching and rubbed your clit against Touya’s pelvis for friction. He pulled you down into a tight embrace, your face buried into his chest as he gave one final thrust, making you both cum at the same time.
Exhausted, you collapsed on top of him, his cock still inside you. You rested your head in the crook of his neck as his hands ran up and down your sides in a soothing manner. You would’ve fallen asleep in his arms until he asked you:
“Would you like to live with me?”
You perked your head from his chest, staring at him unbelievingly with wide eyes. “Live with you?”
Touya removed one of his hands from your waist so he could scratch the back of his neck, feeling shy. “I don’t have much of a place to live but I could take care of you. I know how to hunt and-“
He was cut off when you kissed his nose, “Of course I want to live with you, I’d love that more than anything.”
You heard Touya’s tail thump against the ground as he wagged it, and he licked your cheek, making you giggle at the sudden affection. He helped you stand and put on your nightgown and robe for you, before getting down on all fours, allowing you to climb on his back.

Touya ran past the forest until he reached a hot spring waterfall and leapt to the other side, soaking you both wet. You climbed off his back and saw a rocky wall. Just as you were about to ask, Touya moved a large rock covering a hole that led to a cave on the inside.
You stepped in while Touya followed and closed the gap. At first, all you saw was darkness, but then the ceiling and walls began to glow with blue lights. Your jaw dropped in amazement and Touya chuckled.
“Those are glow worms. They’re bioluminescent, which is how they’re able to make their own light.”
He then grabbed your hand and led you down the rest of the cave while you admired the glowing larvae that resembled stars.
You suddenly recalled a fond memory of the time Touya told you about his fascination with the stars, and you’d both lay out at night to stare at the sky while he pointed at every constellation.
You were snapped out of your reminiscing when Touya softly called your name, and you saw his den. One side had a pile of fur and pelts, which you guessed he slept in, and on the other side was another hot spring surrounded by a pool of water. At the end was a keyhole that filtered water from the other side. Thankfully, it was small enough that you knew neither man nor animal would be able to swim through, giving you and Touya privacy.
Although caves were usually cold, the steam from the hot springs kept the air warm, so you knew you wouldn’t have to worry about winter.
You made your way over to his fur pile and sat down, feeling the soft pelts between your fingers. Touya sat down with you, looking shy.
“So, what do you think?”
“I think it’s beautiful,” you replied dreamily, “and I can’t believe I’m going to live here with you.”
Touya sighed in relief and pulled you into his arms, nuzzling his face into your neck. You hugged him back and giggled when he licked your cheek again.
“I’m happy you’re here with me. I was lonely for so long.” Touya admitted. You kissed his nose and rested your forehead against his.
“You’ll never be lonely again, Touya. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Touya’s tail wagged and he pulled away from your neck, looking at you with a serious expression. “Y/n, will you be my mate?”
You blinked in surprise, and Touya worried he may have rushed things, until you straddled his lap, smiling at him.
“Yes, Touya, I will be your mate.”
You watched as Touya’s pupils dilated and he leaned down again to lick your neck. You tilted your head back in submission, and he began to remove your garments again. He gently pushed you down onto the furs once you were naked and hovered above you.
“Mine.”
“Yours.”
Placing your legs over his shoulders, Touya slowly entered inside you again, and you arched your back off the pelts, moaning as he filled you. He grabbed your wrists, holding your arms above your head as he began to thrust in and out.
This was different from the first time he took you. This felt more intimate now that he was allowing you to look at him.
Touya lowered his head to lick your nipples, making you whimper in pleasure. His pace sped up, the sound of his cock hitting your wet pussy drowned out by his grunts and your moans that echoed all around the cave.
Sensing that you were close, Touya brought his free hand down to rub your clit with his paw pad, your vision going white as you came all over his fingers and cock. Touya’s chest rumbled as he spilled his seed inside you and collapsed on top of you, breathing heavily.
Slowly, he pulled out and picked you up in his arms, carrying you to the hot spring pool to clean yourselves. The water was warm, and you leaned against Touya as he washed you down with a sponge.
When you both were cleansed, he carried you back to the fur pile and laid down, resting you on top of his chest. Just as you were about to fall asleep, Touya spoke again.
“The sun is coming up, I’m shifting back into my human form.”
You lifted your head and watched as the fur on his body receded, though the scars remained. His ears shrunk to normal size, his muzzle shrinking inwards to form a normal nose and mouth, and lying before you was a human man with familiar white hair and blue eyes.
“Aw, I’m gonna miss your tail wagging.” You teased.
Touya softly laughed and brushed a wet strand of hair behind your ear. “This won’t be the last time you see it.”
You smiled and finally got to kiss his lips before laying your head on his chest. “I’ll have the rest of my life to see you in both forms.”
Touya kissed the top of your head. “Forever.”

+ Izuku and you were home alone while Shoto was attending to royal duties. Neither of you was expecting him home anytime soon. And neither of you was expecting him to come home early in a complete emotional breakdown. When you both find out why, you're pissed.
Y/N POV
Izuku and I were cuddling on the couch in front of the fire. There was a snow storm outside and it was bitterly cold. I had draped myself over Izuku's lap and he placed a blanket over us. He was rubbing slow circles into my back and it was putting me to sleep.
"Tired honey?" I looked up at Izuku and smiled.
"Yeah, I'm so comfy." I said. He chuckled. "The only thing that could make this better is Shoto being here."
"Yeah..." He nodded. Shoto had to go back to his kingdom for royal business about a week ago and would be there for a while.
I turned over in his lap, to be able to look up at him. He immediately placed his hand on my waist and I reached up to cup his cheek. He nuzzled into my hand. I giggled before snuggling in. He moved his hand up and started to rub circles into my head. I was nearly asleep when the door burst open.
"What in the world?" Izuku asked. I shivered as the bitter wind blew in.
"The audacity..." We heard Shoto's voice mumbling. We shared a look before I sat up. Izuku was up and walking through the house swiftly while I untangled my legs from the blankets. I walked through the house to the front and saw Shoto hanging off Izuku, sobbing. He had his arms around Izuku's neck, letting his body weight be held up by Izuku.
"What happened?!" I rushed up and cupped the side of his face. I looked up at Izuku but he looked as confused as me. He guided Shoto to the couch. I sat down. "Shoto, Come here..."
"Love..." He whimpered and reluctantly let go of Izuku but sat down next to me and buried his head in my chest. He nearly pulled me into his lap while he cried. I held him close and curled around him. Izuku ran to his workroom.
"What happened, Sho? What's got you so upset?" I asked gently. He tried to say something but he choked on his tears instead. He started to hyperventilate. "Okay, okay. It's alright. Breathe honey." I pulled his head up.
"Y/N..."
"I'm here, match my breathing. Okay?" I put his hand on my chest. He nodded and tried. He got in some good breaths.
"Zu...Zuku." He choked out. I could tell Shoto needed the greenette.
"Hey Izuku!" I called with urgency.
"Coming!" He came back with a tray. He set it down before handing me a bowl with some herbs. He poured some hot water over it. "To help him breathe."
"Okay. Come on, Sho. Breathe in deep." I held the bowl up to him. He cupped my hand and the bowl with trembling hands. He took a breath in. "There you go." I brushed his hair back. I looked at Izuku to see him making a cup of chamomile tea.
"That's good, Sho." I could see the pure worry in Izuku's eyes. He was very protective of both of us and Shoto being emotional like this was strange. Izuku came up next to me and cupped my head, kissing my temple before whispering in my ear. "Can you go get some comfortable clothes for him?"
"Yeah." I waited for Izuku to sit down on the other side of Shoto. He took the bowl from me. I stood up and kissed the top of Shoto's head. "I'll be right back."
"Okay..." He mumbled. I went upstairs and pulled out some comfortable clothes for Shoto. I came back down and saw Shoto's cloak, boots, and sword just laying on the floor. I took a minute to put everything in its place. I walked back into the living room. Shoto and Izuku were cuddling on the couch.
"Hey Sho?" I reach my hand up and I run my fingers through his hair. He looked up at me with watery eyes. I gave him a soft smile. "I got some comfy clothes. Let's get you changed. Is that okay?"
"Yeah." He pulled away from Izuku and stood. We helped him get changed. After he got changed I went and put the clothes in the laundry then we sandwiched him between us. Izuku sat against the arm of the couch. We had Shoto lay between Izuku's legs and I curled up with him, setting his head on my chest. Izuku wrapped his arms around us.
"Thank you." Shoto mumbled. I cupped the back of his head and pressed my lips to his head.
"Of course Sho." Izuku said. He grabbed my discarded blanket from earlier and laid it over us. I rubbed slow circles into Sho's back.
"Can you tell us What happened? We weren't expecting you home this early. Especially not like this." I asked gently. He let out a shaky sigh.
"Of course it was my father..." He started. Me and Izuku shared a look. "He was fine for the first few days but then he seemed to switch. He began to insult every little thing and got worse and worse. Normally this wouldn't bother me but then he insulted ..."
"What Sho? What did he say?" Izuku gently probed.
"He said something attributing to me being a disgusting useless Fag and Nempomaniac that belongs in a brothel..."
"What?!" I exclaimed. He flinched a little. "Oh, I'm sorry." I held him tighter and kissed his head. I cooed and comforted him. I finally noticed Izuku had gone completely silent. "Zuku?"
"He's done." He muttered before slipping out from underneath us.
"Zuku?" Sho looked up and whimpered. Izuku stormed through the house, heading for his sword and the front door.
"Izuku!" I exclaimed. I got up and kissed Shoto on the head before saying I would be back. I chased izuku out into the cold. "Izuku!"
"He went too far, Y/N!" He yelled. I could see the green sparks coming to life. Following barefoot through the snow, I finally caught up with him.
"I know but this isn't what Shoto needs right now!" I said, shivering and wrapping my arms around me from the cold. He stopped and took a big breath before he turned. Izuku looked at me, barefooted and shivering in the snow before sighing. He picked me up around the waist and went back inside.
He set down his sword and walked us back into Shoto. Putting me down next to Sho, he covered my feet with the blanket. He went to stoke the fire.
"I'm sorry..." Sho whispered.
"No, don't apologize." Izuku sat back down and grabbed Shoto's chin lightly. "You have nothing to apologize for."
"Your father is in the wrong, not you." I added. Cuddling up to Sho's side, I gave him a soft kiss.
"You're right. You're right." He smiled. I snuggled up to him glad he was feeling better.
A little while later, Shoto had fallen asleep and Izuku had disappeared into his workroom. Curiosity got the better of me and I went in silently. Izuku was sitting at his desk, writing away. After he finished he rolled it up and stamped it with a wax seal. He dusted it with a powder and muttered a few words in dragon Language.
"What are you doing?"
"Eek!" He screeched and jumped sky high. He looked at me wide-eyed and clutched the scroll to his chest. He sighed and relaxed when he saw it was me.
"Sending a message to Kacchan & Kirishima-kun." He grabbed a box of matches. "You want to?"
"Yeah." I grabbed a match and striked it. He held out the scroll. I lit it and it went up in smoke and orange & red cinders. It flew out the open window. "Telling Bakugou about this?"
"Yep." He confirmed. I nodded.
"Come on. I think it's time for all of us to go to bed." I said as I kissed his cheek.
"Yeah." He got up and took my hand. We walked back into the living room and Shoto wasn't on the couch.
"Shoto?" I called out.
"Baby?" Izuku went to look in the front of the house and I bounded up the stairs.
"Shoto baby? Where are you?" I walked down the hallway, checking in every room. Thankfully, I found him in our room. He was dragging extra blankets to the bed from the closet. He froze when he saw me. "Would you like help?"
"Yes please." His voice was so small for the man he is. I smiled and nodded. I called for Izuku and went to help Shoto with the blankets. We made the bed with all the blankets he wanted.
"Here you are." Izuku came in and closed the door. We all climbed into bed with Shoto in the middle. He cuddled into my chest with his arms around my waist. Izuku laid behind him, wrapping his arms around the both of us.
"Thank you." Shoto said while nuzzled into my neck.
"Of course baby." I kissed his hair.
"We'll always be here for you." Izuku nuzzled into the back of Shoto's neck. Shoto sighed in content.
"I love you, Zuku. I love you, Y/N."
"Love you too, Sho." I mumbled into his hair, already drifting off.
"I love you too, Shoto." Izuku said while pulling us closer. I took one of my hands and placed it in Izuku's curly hair. He sighed at my touch. I stayed awake until they were both asleep.
"Goodnight my loves." I whispered before letting myself fall asleep. I jumped when the sound of an explosion and a roar went overhead. I listened for a second to see if I was hearing things but shrugged it off and drifted off to sleep.

Night was falling. Flames from a small fire shot up cheerfully and five tired hikers warmed themselves around it, talking about the events of the past weeks.
— My magic didn't work on these creatures at all — said Ochaco. — I still have a lot to learn.
Everyone shuddered at the mention of nasty flying monsters.
The only one who knew who the mysterious beasts were was [Reader] but she wasn't going to reveal it to the rest of the group.
She played her role, one of many previously prepared for the destinations. As the queen of Kamino, she was taught from a young age to take on various characters and put on appropriate masks. This time she chose the role of a wise woman who didn't stick her nose out from behind books. She changed her appearance and became a quiet mouse. One of the advantages was that she did not have to completely shed her highly developed manners and higher education, which would have been difficult for her to hide.
— Thank you again for saving us, Your Higness — she said to Shōto, who nodded and returned to sipping the aromatic brew of phosphorescent mushrooms.
— It was amazing — Izuku added and began to mumble in fascination.
It didn't take a few moments for him to start writing something down in the leather book he carried with him throughout the journey.
The only person who did not speak flatteringly to the prince that evening was Katsuki Bakugō — the last living representative of a wild tribe from the South and the owner of a huge dragon. With a frown on his face, he repeatedly announced that he didn't need rescuing. Todoroki did not accept his challenge to a duel, which was considered a personal grudge. Finally, in order not to escalate the situation, [Reader] asked the blonde to go collect more firewood. Despite this, curses and the sounds of branches could be heard coming from the forest, which (judging by the cracking sounds) were probably broken by the force of muscles.
— So, if I understood correctly earlier, you are going to try? — Shoto asked.
— Yes. — Ochaco pulled her cloak tighter around her. — We hope that we will be able to convince the oracle. I want to get money to ease the burden on my parents. Along the way, I met Izuku, who wants to become a hero. As for [Reader]… — the girl trailed off.
Until now, she hadn't really thought about what the scientist's goal was.
— My wish is a secret.
— Anyway, she's the only one who knows the way to this place. — Without her, we would probably have been wandering for a long time. Katsuki joined us later. He saved us from monsters similar to those your majesty fought this morning. Then he said he wanted to get to the cave as quickly as possible and joined us. I didn't even try to ask about his wish, I'm too afraid of him. — She pouted. — Along the way, we also met Tenya Īda, a noble knight following an ancient code and...
This was going to be a long story.
— We have a lot of adventures behind us. — Izuku smiled. — And now we're a day away from our destination. I think it's time to rest a bit.
Thus the blankets were distributed and the company fell into a deep sleep in the midst of the ancient forest.
Some time later, Katsuki also joined them. Ever since they first encountered the beasts, they had been on guard duty. That evening, he was first in line.
However, he didn't wake [Reader] up so she could take over his shift like he should have. As he approached and tried to pull her from sleep, she muttered something about five minutes and then began to snore softly. The blonde wanted to shout at her but eventually he adjusted her blanket, added his own and only muttered:
— Sleep well, idiot.
He didn't want to admit it but the scientist caught his eye at the very beginning of the trip. In the first days, she stayed away from him but after he rescued her from the hands of a famous thug called Stain, their relationship warmed up significantly. Sometimes, sitting under the stars, they talked about various trivial and serious topics, enjoying each other's company. They also happened to fly on a dragon in the moonlight.
This was the guard that Katsuki wanted to send, a being who, contrary to appearances, is very intelligent but cunning. It was hard to get him to do any favors other than tearing to shreds and burning everything he could find. [Reader] seemed to be his favourite though because he even let her pet his muzzle. For most of the group, this was an unattainable phenomenon.
In reality, however, the dragon instinctively sympathized with the girl, after all, like her, he was pretending to be someone he was not.
The mythical animal flashed its eyes and nodded in agreement.
The wild one needed sleep too. He planned to reach the oracle with the others in the morning.
This is how the last night before trials passed.
***
At dawn, the travelers said goodbye to Prince Todoroki and his brave white steed and headed towards the caves.
They managed to open the mysterious door to the underworld because Izuku solved the mysterious riddle thanks to his knowledge of mythical heroes.
The dragon had to stay outside, there was no chance of dragging the huge creature into the narrow corridors.
It was dark inside, so Ochaco turned on the light on the end of her wand. They went deeper, trusting the [Reader's] notes, which actually belonged to the castle's book collection. The air was thick, stuffy and stale. They passed stalactites and stalagmites, occasionally scaring bats, to see the mysterious path and the shadow at its end.
When a person hears the word "oracle" they usually imagine a beautiful woman. However, it turned out to be an older man with long black hair who introduced himself as Shōta Aizawa. He obviously just woke up.
— You're interrupting my nap, you idiots. — He rolled over.
— We came to take trials — Izuku said.
— All of you?
He was answered by four nods.
— Great, let the trials begin or something... — He rubbed the sleep from his eyes. — Oh, I would have forgotten. Only one of you will reach the end and I will grant theirs wish. The rest will fly out of here faster than you can imagine.
No one was prepared for such a quick turn of events. Especially the young queen when she realized her hopeless situation.
Before they could ask anything more, white light surrounded the hikers.
This is how the journey through a strange maze full of traps began. It was somewhere above the caves. This was indicated by the green grass, clean air and daylight.
During the trials, Izuku came to the conclusion that he could become a great hero without his wish, willingly giving his chance to the others. Ochaco said that if it weren't for [Reader] who saved her from the thorny vine, she would have beend dead and she honorably retired. They disappeared in a cloud of dark smoke and that was all that was seen of them.
So Katsuki and the false scientist remained on the battlefield. They reached the end of the maze without any major obstacles. There were two shining swords lying there and nothing else.
— I think they want us to fight. — The girl raised her sword.
She took lessons at night but she was aware that she had no chance against the wild man.
— I won't fight you because you pose no challenge to me. — Hey you, Aizen, or whatever your name was, come up with something else! — he shouted at the top of his lungs.
— A fight is a fight, these are the rules of the final trials — the man said in a dispassionate voice.
He was sitting on the wall, unnoticed so far.
— I don't give a damn about your games. You can't force me. — The blonde crossed his arms on his chest.
— You will die here.
— You have to watch us, otherwise you wouldn't be here to begin with. You want to sleep, so going away is not an option for you — [Reader] deduced.
It was a mistake. A nasty smile appeared on the face of the previously calm man, heralding trouble.
— I know you inside and out. I also know what your wishes are. You want your family back, Bakugō — he continued. — Do you even know who you're up against here?
A shiver ran down the girl's neck and she tightened her fingers on the hilt of the sword she was holding.
— Enlighten me.
— Queen [Reader] of Kamino — he said in a quiet voice, then disappeared in a black cloud and reappeared on the wall.
— Katsuki, listen...
— A family of murderers!
The girl could barely withstand the force of the angry boy's attack. The hail of blows fell with unexpected speed. [Reader] felt adrenaline coursing through her veins as she tried to use any defense. Every breath she took was burning with fire because the enemy did not give her even a moment's respite.
The blade clanged as it hit the floor and the girl felt the blade close to her throat. After a moment, she saw him raise it up to deliver the final blow. Her ears were ringing. She tried to articulate a sentence but her voice refused to obey her.
— You've won — a scathing voice whispered to the last of the wild people — I told you I'd make you fight.
The sword was pulled back to a safe distance.
— Get her out of here before I change my mind!
— NO.
[Reader] felt like she was doing one of the biggest stupid things in her life but she had responsibilities and debts to pay. Even if she was defeated and had to be on her knees begging for help.
— It's not fair. Why should I be judged for something my parents did? I know they murdered your tribe fighting for the land but it's not my fault. It's also not the fault of the humans, who will soon face an army of beasts called Nomu. The ones you dealt with along the way. My people don't stand a chance against them. My wish is to stop Shigaraki, their master. I know that tens of thousands of nameless people are nothing to you compared to the parents you lost but I'm going to ask you to use my wish anyway. If revenge or a crown is of any value to you — she felt a lump in her throat — then I'm ready for that too.
— Enough of these sappy speeches — said Aizawa.
With these words, he snapped his fingers and [Reader] disappeared in a cloud of dark smoke.
***
— Your Highness. — Maiden bowed. — Our savior, Katsuki Bakugō, has arrived.
[Reader] nervously adjusted her diadem and smoothed her dress.
— Let him in.
The boy entered as if he was oblivious to the dozens of pairs of eyes watching him in the throne room.
In fact, he admired the craftsmanship and wealth around him. Like all the way to the palace. The city had been blooming and prospering for a year. When he made his wish, he was not fully aware of how many lives he was saving. Now, with so many residents in front of his eyes, he was convinced that he had done the right thing. Strangers who recognized him on the street began to congratulate him, invite him to dinner and give him flowers. This wasn't what he expected.
Even more so, he didn't expect that his heart would accelerate so much at the sight of her.
— I thought I'd drop by.
He had the same cheeky smile as before.
The girl gracefully descended from the platform to kneel in front of the blonde. There were quiet whispers in the room:
— It is not proper to stand higher than Her Highness.
As if on cue, each courtier lowered themself to the floor and bowed their head. There was complete silence.
The boy felt his cheeks turning red.
— I'm not going to kill you or take your crown, so get up, you idiot.
There were murmurs again:
— The hero insults Her Highness?
The queen obediently stood up, dismissing the court with a gesture. A sincere, warm smile appeared on her face.
— It's good to see you again, Katsuki. I would like to thank you for your wish. After the oracle sent me away, I was almost sure that I would have nothing to return to and yet I am standing in my own palace among my subjects.
— You declared me a hero and publicly confessed your parents' sins. — He glanced at her.
— I know it won't bring your family back but I want to fix as many mistakes as I can. Is there something you want? Do you have any treasure or reward in mind that I could repay you with?
— I don't need anything — he muttered.
Suddenly the distance between them decreased dramatically. The boy couldn't stop following every detail on [Reader's] face. The last rays of the setting sun passed through the colorful stained glass windows and danced in the girl's hair and eyes.
— They say every knight should be kissed after saving a damsel in distress — she whispered.
— Well... I think that sounds good.
Bakugō expected it to be just a kiss on the cheek but he received so much more. The girl's lips were soft and warm. He swore he felt sparks spread throughout his body. He placed his hand on her cheek as if he wanted to hold this moment in his memory longer.
From behind the closed door one could hear:
— They look so cute together...
— You see, man, I said that it's a wedding, gimme that three gold coins...
— Youth, I used to be the same...
[Reader], smiling, moved away slightly.
— I think I'm in love, you know? — She looked at him from under her eyelashes.
— That's good, because so do I. — He pulled her and kissed her again.
