This discussion got very chaotic very quickly lol but I've done my best to sort it all by category. Enjoy!

Topic One: Sam's Kids

If I’m allowing myself the privilege of indulging in AU where Frodo doesn’t leave, I often imagine Elanor calls him [Fro]. But she is the only one who is allowed to.

meg is me:

"Fwo" Frodo, lifting a cup in his hand: "throw?" "No! Fwo!"

I've been imagining Elanor calling him "Unca Fodo."

And then there's "Unca Mewwy" and "Pip-Pip." (Pippin tries to get her to call him Uncle too, but it doesn't work. He's not Unc-y enough 😂)

Better yet His older siblings And they half believe him because quote "Daddy is rather ugly" and Elanor gets SO offended on dear old Sam's behalf

Elanor could be overheard hugging her dad and saying "don't worry you're very handsome" Sam just laughs

Me:

“Well your mother thinks I’m handsome, and that’s all that matters ;-)” Cue the chorus of “EWWW”

It's split between ewwww and awwww Bby frodo ships his dad and mom so hard and is ecstatic to learn that they have in fact gotten married to each other

I like that this is true in your bones and not in your heart. Because the heart is fickle and can be changed by things like canon. Bones are more stubborn. Sometimes not even canon can break them.

I adore that they aren't named Meriadoc and Peregrin but rather Merry and Pippin Sam took his dad's advice to heart- if you give them a short name you don't need to worry about nicknames Guess old Gaffer learned from needing to shorten his son's names to Ham, Sam, etc

“I’m not giving my boys those fru-fru gentlehobbit names, they’ll have short names like sensible folk”

Pippin casually mentions to Sam if it's a boy maybe we'll name him Aragorn Strider Elessar, Gorn for short And sam is an inch away from taking custody of Pippin's unborn child

I wrote a fic where Pip had a daughter named Sable because my best friend at the time was named Sable and the only place the word sable was found in lotr was in regards to Pip's tower guard uniform

Pippin in many ways will never mature and I love him for it I'm still stuck on him and diamond naming their kids the most obscure things after Merry stole all the Friend Names besides Faramir The tooks already sound Outlandish

Pippin and diamond would be that couple who wants to choose Unique baby names but their friends keep reining them in "Let's name him TREEBEARD" "hmm and Enta for a girl" Sam: do you HEAR YOURSELVES

Me:

Sam sitting down with little Faramir Took and having a Very Serious Talk that if he intends to court sweet little Goldilocks he’ll have to be very kind and good and generous to her and always look out for her good above his own even if it’s hard and it hurts

Faramir was like 9, and all Sam was concerned about was Faramir pushing her and pulling her hair and stealing the berries out of her picnic basket, but it stuck

Years later, after the wedding, Faramir tells Sam that he’s never forgotten that talk and it absolutely changed his life and Sam is like “wot” cuz he’d forgotten all about it

The sky was aglow, deepest crimson washing over the land and undimmed by the bruise-purple clouds that clutched at the edges of the horizon.

The sands shifted beneath him, deep and perfect as only a desert that has consumed everything within it can be.

Hi hun! First off, I LOVED the artwork you made for my OC, it was very sweet and expertly done, so I really can't thank you enough for it. I saw that you offered to write me some comfort headcanons, so I hope it's alright if I request some. Maybe something about the characters comforting their s/o after a surgery or with chronic health issues. For the characters, could you maybe write for Eomer, Faramir, Merry Brandybuck and Fili please? Hope that's not too many, I figured you could just do it preference style. Lotr and The Hobbit characters comforting you after your jaw-surgery

Eomer

He would be so sweet to you. After the surgery your face is swollen and you’re in a lot of pain, so much so that for the next few days you can’t get out of bed. He knows how much you hate this, how you’d rather be outside or in the library, or just pacing around your room letting your thoughts drift this way and that, but now it brings you too much discomfort to do so. He makes sure that for the next three weeks he spends as much time with you as he can, asking Eowyn to keep you company when he does have to tend to his duties. He brings you bouquets of flowers so that you still have a bit of nature around you, he tells you stories about his childhood and the Rohirrim to keep you entertained and he presses soft kisses to your head to comfort you, telling you that you're beautiful and so very brave for taking the surgery. Once the swelling goes down and you feel better he will go on walks with you, loving the sight of you being out in the open again.

Faramir

This man has some knowledge in healing himself, and he will use that on your way to recovery. He wipes away the blood, makes sure you take your medicine on time, helps you clean your teeth and mouth and is very careful while doing it as he does not want to bring you any more pain than necessary. While you are bed-bound he brings books from the library and reads them to you, while softly combing his fingers through your hair. Because you can’t do much more than lie in bed for days, your chronic pain gets worse. Faramir will give you massages to try and elevate most of the pain and to regulate blood flow, and he will press soft kisses on your skin and whisper sweet nothings in the hopes it will distract you from the pain.

Merry

He hates seeing you in pain, and he especially feels bad when he learns that you have to be on a liquid diet for at least a week. He had hoped to cheer you up by cooking you some delicious meals, but seeing as that is off the table for the next two weeks he decides to take the liquid diet with you. You tell him that he doesn’t have to do that, but he insists. If you have to suffer a jaw surgery and then eat those disgusting liquids that they call food of all things, then the least he can do to support you is eat them with you. During your recovery he will do everything he can to keep you distracted and entertained; expect him to do some silly dances, tell you funny stories and maybe even some gossip he heard while out and about in the Shire. He will help you clean your mouth and has this adorable determined expression on his face whenever he does it, trying his hardest not to hurt you. After two weeks, he starts pulling you into shenanigans with him and Pippin again, though he does make sure you don’t strain yourself too much.

Fili

The moment you wake up in the hospital from your surgery, Fili is there with an ice-pack and kisses. His mustache-braids tickle your face as he nuzzles your hair, asking you how you are feeling. He will have some tea prepared for the nausea and some herbs for the pain. The moment he gets to take you home he is so sweet with you; fluffing the bed to make sure you’re comfortable, having you lay against his chest and singing songs to help you fall asleep. Once the pain and discomfort has lessened he brings you your sketchbooks and sewing supplies so that you don’t get bored, and he will sit and chat with you, telling you about the things that have been happening in Erebor. When the two of you began courting, Fili started to teach you Iglishmek, which comes in handy (pun intended) especially now. Whenever you need something you can ask Fili through sign-language, preventing any strain on your jaw. Fili wants to make your recovery as bearable as possible, so expect a lot of kisses and cuddles!

I've heard vague references to a letter Tolkien wrote to a fan (not included in the volume of the Letters) in which he told her that Merry named at least one son "Periadoc." I kind of like it, especially if the "Per" part is related to "Peregrin" or "Periannath"! What do y'all think? Does this go with the other headcanons we came up with about Merry's kids?

Then it ends up being twins, but they don't know. A boy is born first, and they're like, "Yay, another kid, but this is kind of a bummer because we REALLY wanted a girl." And then, BOOM. Surprise daughter! And Merry is just over the moon

Elanor moving into the Tower Hills with her husband but they always welcome her favorite cousin Theodoc who brings them gifts from his adventures

Theodoc rides horses and boats with equal ease, he has his own nickname in Bree
