More shit for my dpxdc merfolk au!

No I’m not censoring boobs. I have Opinions TM on this matter, don’t get me started. Basically: If mermen don’t get their nipples censored by unnecessary clothing, neither do mermaids.

I’m trying to have some diversity with body types in these designs, for no reason other than wanting some variety.

For Cass [Sting Ray] I can’t really decide on a body type I like for her. I’ve drawn her before with the “conventionally attractive girl body type” (bc that was my reference pic and I turned it into Cass lol) and I liked it bc she’s fine like that. But I also love her being more bulky/muscular like she is in WFA. But for this design, I am spreading my Chubby Cass Propaganda TM. Okay, she’s not that chubby, but I like the idea of her moving past her whole living-weapon thing and gaining some weight bc she’s not training 24/7 anymore. Obviously she’s still very physically fit ofc; she’s the best fighter in the world.

Steph I kept exactly how she is in canon bc she’s already perfect just the way she is. Though I am considering making her a bit more muscular.

Dick’s also pretty similar to canon, but I made him a bit slimmer. I always imagined him as more of a lean muscle kind of guy but dc loves giving all of it’s characters of the same gender the same exact body type.

Duke I made more square. He’s based on an eel so the rectangle body just made sense to me.

Jason’s just huge and Damian’s just small.

Next up is Babs. Then comes Bruce and Tim. Danny’s last bc I haven’t figured out what fish he’s gonna be yet lol. The rest of the fentons are human so I don’t really need to redesign them so much besides maybe different clothes.

FURTHER RAMBLING UNDER THE CUT bc i put a lot of thought into these

Steph is a betta fish. Ik that doesn’t make much sense bc they’re tropical (i think?) and domestic and like super aggressive and only the male ones have those pretty fins— but suspend your disbelief! She a mermaid. I’m using some real science but some of it’s just me playing with fish like dolls. ANYWAY! The reason she got fired in this au was bc her long, beautiful fins were way too fragile and Bruce stopped it bc she got hurt too easily. Nowadays she binds her fins close to her body and attaches fake ones for swimming as Spoiler. Either that or they’re not vigilantes at all in this au, I’m still deciding. I also based her hair on her Robin look.

Dick is a flying fish, bc of COURSE he’s a flying fish. What else would he be, huh? I have visions about him jumping out of the water and sailing over or onto the Fentons’ boat. The transition on his waist is supposed to mimic the nightwing symbol if you can’t tell. That’s another design element I’m trying to vary— fish to flesh transitions.

Cass is a Sting Ray. She was originally gonna be a manta ray, but when i looked it up, sting rays were the ones with the more round shape i wanted. Mantas had much bigger wings, which were absolutely not gonna fit on this paper. But sting rays are cool! They’re super friendly, some aquariums have little “petting zoos” where you can pet the sting rays! And also, yk, stinging. I’m betting the ones at the aquarium didn’t have stingers that can affect humans tho. I may have to do further sting ray research. Yes that bigass thing is attached to her back everywhere except for her neck and the base of here head (bc i love drawing hair too much). Her arms are, ofc, not attached to it. I made her a ray in the first place bc they have very good camouflage at the bottom of the ocean. I saw this picture of a ray blending in but it was ominous af. It felt perfect for her.

My Little Hybrid Family_Part 2

A.N: After a thousand years, this 20+ chapter is finally ready to start rolling out!! This is a hybrid AU that features all my husbandos, Leona, Malleus and Scarabia.

In fact, this started because I loved the Scarabian Halloween cards so much, I thought I’d make a hybrid story for it. Then Octavinelle slid into the story rather seamlessly being they are mermen. That’s just hanging out in the wind.

As for the rest of the characters, there are hints and cameos around.

And so Kalim’s and Jamil’s new lives with you began. Kalim seemed to quickly latch onto you, smiling so widely he shamed the sun. The first time he threw his arms around you, you had never seen Jamil so panicked as he tried to pull Kalim off you with a murmured apology.

Realizing what he did, Kalim apologized, both of them bowing deeply.

You waved them away, “Enough. It was a hug. No big deal!”

Kalim gazed at you, “Really? You don’t mind?”

Jamil hit Kalim on the arm to be quiet as he spoke to you, “Our old owner had very few rules, but one was to never touch him or his guest unless they requested it. I apologize for Kalim, he forgot his place.”

With a hand to the back of Kalim’s head, he forced him to bow again, himself included.

“I want you two to understand something....”

Still bowing both tensed even Kalim hearing your serious voice, “I am not your old owner. And I’m not a human that gets jollies in tormenting hybrids, either mentally or physically. We are to live together it seems, and while you are here you will be afforded respect. I cannot attest to how it will be when my parents return, but since they are seldom here, it’s nothing you need to concern yourself with. I don’t want you to fear me. Now, please stop bowing. It’s uncomfortable.”

Jamil allowed the two of them to straighten, looking at you. Kalim seemed to brush the tense moment off and smiled.

And then you smiled back.

It was different from that moment on, Jamil felt it. Kalim seemed to grow closer to you each day, sometimes giving you a hug. But after a week, Jamil still did not tell you his name. You both knew that you had heard it, but you still pretended not to know and never addressed him as such.

“Yo, What are you cooking? Smells good.”, you asked as you entered the kitchen.

Jamil tensed once. You had discovered that Jamil was very adapt to cooking. Even with their old owner, he left them to their own devices when it came to cooking. Since he didn’t want them to go outside, he provided the food, but never did he or have anyone cook for them. He didn’t want anyone to see them.

“I’m surprised that a human would allow a hybrid to cook for them.” Jamil spoke instead.

“I’ve heard many have hybrids for domestic duties.”

“Yes, and how do you know if said hybrid wouldn’t poison the owner?” Jamil stirred the pot, looking into it as he asked lightly. He didn’t want to seem as though he was challenging you.

But wasn’t that exactly what he was doing?

But why?

He never tested their previous owner before. But with you, he had been testing boundaries all week, and each time you brushed it off or never responded as he expected you to. You let them have their space, not policing them.

“Yeah, I often wondered myself, actually.”

Jamil snapped his head up to look at you. You were serious, “I mean, if you are going to treat someone badly and then tell them to cook your meal, how can you reasonably expect them not to try to poison you? I would try, though I guess they are bound by fear, so there is that.” You shrugged.

Jamil had stopped stirring to just stare at you. Then he caught himself and returned, “Dinner will be ready in an hour.”

“Cool!” you responded, going to walk out the kitchen.

“Jamil.”

You stopped and turned to him, “Excuse me?”

“It’s my name. Jamil.”

There was a beat of silence, but Jamil didn’t dare turn around.

“Then, it’s nice to meet you, Jamil!” you said before walking out the kitchen.

And so three months passed in this manner. Jamil slowly began to warm up to you, and you caught glimpses of a rare smile. You even discovered that he hated bugs. Thankfully there was Kalim because you hated bugs as well. Kalim only laughed and said the two of you bonded then. Both of you yelled at him to can it, but he only smiled and said, that you two were clinging to each other and didn’t even know it. That was the first time Jamil had touched you.

But then, your peaceful world ended, and you found yourself lost. The private jet that your parents were on crashed. Although you didn’t see them much growing up, they were still your parents. But now they were gone.

You shut down.

You were barely aware of Kalim being at your side as much as he could. Even Jamil started worrying in his own way. You barely ate and seem to go through motions.

As rich parents, their funeral was covered in the news. Jamil never seen Kalim so serious as he paced in front of the TV. As hybrids, they were not allowed to go with you, and Kalim wanted nothing more than to be by your side. Watching the TV, seeing you so distant, broke his heart.

Yes, even Jamil.

After your initial shock and break down, they hadn’t seen you cry since.

Not even at the funeral.

Mafiafell Papyrus (Noir): To be honest, he thinks it’s awesome! Sure, you swim reeeeeeally slow, and can’t breathe underwater, but there’s so many other cool things you can do! Like running, or gymnastics, or driving a car! He demands that you show him all these things, so you attempt to take him places. It looks pretty hilarious when you pull him around in a wagon while he’s sitting in a bathtub.

Mafiaswapfell Sans (Scar): Like Butch, he’s kind of bummed out. Naturally, he loves you and wouldn’t have it any other way, but he wants to live his life with you. He knows that’s not possible (for now, at least), so he makes the best of it. He doesn’t let you know about his feelings inside, and shoves them away to be his normal dramatic self.

Mafiaswapfell Papyrus (Hound): “wow darlin’, legs give me such easy access~” Really, he is fascinated with legs, and not just because he can get to your private bits easier. He loves sitting on the beach with you, his head resting on your thighs. You’re so soft and sweet, he’s so lucky that you chose him!

Also this is a "the celestial boys x y/n" kind of au

Moon is an halfmoon blue betta fish

Sun is an orange and yellow fancy goldfish

And Eclipse (he is a thing) is a common pleco

The story goes that because of an error of a new employee in a fish shop, Moon and Sun ended up in the same tank

Moon instantly tried to fight sun necause who the crap are you and why are you in my home

Sun, being a fancy goldfish, is just a dorky, goofy guy and didn't really got that Moon was trying to throw hands, and tried to befriend him

It kind of worked, surprisingly even to Moon, who realized this new fish was akin to a golden retriever and most definitely not there to fight

Adoption time.png because how have you survived in your own (Moon fully ignored Sun has ever only been around to similarly dorky and goofy fancy goldfishes before who had no fighting instinct whatsoever)

By the time anybody noticed a fancy goldfish was missing from their tank, Moon refused to have anybody take Sun from him

Like, he bit the employees and tried to hide Sun in the rocks (he got l Sun stuck a couple of times as well), and to avoid either of them being hurt, they were labelled as "Sold as a Pair"

Later Sun also tried to whoo Moon, which also worked

This is where Y/N comes into play

They walked in searching for a new betta and found the two clowns right there

Took them both home because why not, their home tank can fit both of them, even if some minor accomodations have to be done

Despite how diffident Moon was at first, with some time he warms up to the dry giant that occasionally brings them food and pets them

No warm up needed for Sun who instantly decided the pets were the best thing ever

Y/N really fucking loves their fishes because despite Moon biting them at every feeding time, they are still extremely cute and funny

At first Y/N thought Moon was bullying Sun or something and were worried, but Sun enjoys being spun around the tank so there is that

Moon also hides in the algae forest and Sun tried to do the same, promptly getting bapped in the face by Moon each time in a whack the mole kind of show

Later Y/N got then two separate tanks connected by a tube so each of them got their own spaces and habitats

Moon fits in the tube, Sun is too chonky and can't get in there, this is on purpose so he doesn't end up stuck in the many decorations Moon's tank has

This is where Y/N also got Ecplise

He lives in both tanks and being a Pleco, cleans around the glass

Neither Sun or Moon are that friends with him because he is a weirdo and licks the rocks

He ain't evil or anything, he is just weird

and being way bigger than either of them, Moon never tried to throw hands only once and failed because Eclipse was just that big

Traumatized from the A4 trailer? Me too. Here are some fics.

It’s been a long-ass time since I’ve done one of these, but I thought it was necessary. These will be organized by ship (mostly Stony), and they are my go-to fluff and feel-good fics, whenever Marvel is hurting My Boi.

STONY (Steve/Tony)

Wed on the Fourth of July by Assisted Reality Interface - 616 (but only knowledge of MCU characters are needed). “The trick, as Steve slowly realizes, is not just to actually propose to Tony and pull a post-Civil War wedding off - it’s to survive everyone else’s attempts to help and plan as well.” Super fluffy, super long, tooth-rotteningly sweet.

My Son, My Sun by Wordsplat - A fandom classic. Tony’s son, Peter, born out of wedlock, is left on his doorstep the night before he is captured in Afghanistan. Spans Peter’s infancy, childhood, and adulthood - and Steve and Tony’s developing relationship right along with it.

Tony Stark’s Unusual Love by A Dueling Heart - The Avengers are all the Avengers, except Steve (and Bucky) are mermen. Iron Man rescues a handsome blonde from drowning...or not. Steve adores Tony and so do we.

Home is Where the Time Machine is by Wordsplat - Steve and Tony’s OFC daughter falls back in time to before her parents got married. Adorable misunderstandings and cuteness ensues, and domestic avengers!

Some Dragons Are Famous Dragons by Eudoxia - Tony is a dragon. Steve and Bucky are struggling students who find him in an alleyway and nurse him back to help. Dragon!Tony is like a cat, but less fluffy and more self-sacrificing.

Drag Me Up From Down Here by EllOnWheels - ONGOING. This noble author has embarked on a 100k+ word journey to fix MCU Steve and Tony’s relationship, post-AOU, and god, I love her for it. Mostly fluff with a little angst - lots of love from Tony’s bots!

STUCKONY (Steve/Tony/Bucky)

Long Distance by NotEvenCloseToStraight - No Powers AU. At the end of a bad day, Tony gets drunk and texts Rhodey all of his woes. Except he typed the wrong number, and has been texting some blond art teacher named Steve and his boyfriend, Bucky. Tiny bits of angst, but for the most part, extremely sweet and cuddly!

Literally any of Reioka’s Stuckony ficlets or fics - Seriously she is the master of Stuckony, and really, of Tony whump fics in general.

IRONHUSBANDS (Tony/Rhodey)

Twenty-Five Years by Not Applicable - Tony and Rhodey have been in a monogamous relationship since Tony was 18. Basically canon at this point, amirite? Cute, old married nerds.

Propagation by Not Applicable - MPREG (you have been warned). Through hand-wavy Avengers magic, Tony wishes upon a star to be able to bear Rhodey’s kid and what do you know, it happens. Just go with it. Tony’s an emotional wreck and Rhodey’s supportive and the Avengers are excited to be aunts and uncles.

IRONPANTHER (Tony/T’Challa)

The Care and Wooing of Tony Stark, Billionaire by AngeNoir - Team Iron Man (slightly negative towards Team Cap, so stay away if you won’t like that). Basically, T’Challa and Tony spoil each other and are adorable. There may or may not be puppies involved. Shuri is amused.

GEN (No Ship)

The One Howard Couldn’t Solve by Jack_Ten_Master - MCU, but Tony has a dragon. She’s amazing, and the other Avengers are jealous.

Sure! I’ll try to get into more details- There’s also some more stuff here!

Courting is, like tickling, a way to strenghten bonds. However, it is the only way to engage in a romantic relationship, meaning that you can court someone and remain as very close friends, but if you want to date someone, you’ll have to court them first. Dating without courting isn’t seen as a good thing- it is said that the relationship has higher chances to fall apart.

The process is different for everyone. Sure, there are some acts/gifts that are seen as ‘standard’, but aside from that, the process differs from merperson to merperson. It tends to start out at 15-16 years old, but it is usually taken more seriously around 17-18.

The first stages of courting are to impress and getting to know your partner. The ‘impress’ part is basically showing off your beauty to get the other’s attention. A common thing they do is to move their tail in a way that it’ll reflect light and look shiny, attractive. After that, it’s a lot of talking and spending more time together to get to know more about each other.

Following those first stages, comes the ‘gifts’ part. Merpeople who are courting may give gifts to each other- the gifts can be anything. This part is seen as the hardest one, because it’s usually when you get to know your partner’s type. Some partners are only impressed with expensive stuff, while others prefers softer things etc.

Shortly after the gifts phase, comes physical affection. Ear rubs, tickling, interwining tails, it all comes around this phase. It’s here that most merpeople start giving each other single pearls too, to show their affection. Hugging from the sides and behind, playing with the other’s hair, caressing their tail and massages are common.

On the final stages of courting, the partners may make algae necklaces to each other. Necklaces are a really big deal when it comes to relationships, so seeing a couple wearing matching necklaces means that they’re really happy together.

In the end of the courting process, there’s the handmade gift. One of the partners has to make the other a fully handmade thing. It can be anything, it just has to be handmade and made without anyone else’s help. If that handmade gift is accepted, the receiver will keep it, usually placing in their bedroom. If it’s not accepted, it’ll be destroyed. It doesn’t mean that the courting has failed, but that something went wrong and that the couple isn’t ready to date.

Courting can be done a lot of times with the same person, in case something goes wrong. Younger merpeople tend to court someone two or three times to get it perfect.

After the courting has ended, they start dating. If everything ends up alright, the couple may start wearing matching pearl necklaces in a year or so.

How the courtship happens differs from territory to territory (basically from country to country). Every ‘nation’ has their own way of courting someone.

The division between those phases is a huge blur. There’s no defined start and end to a phase, it all happens naturally. In cases that one of the partners is rushing a phase, the other has to tell them to keep it slow and continue in a slower pace. Communication is important when this happens!

Viktor, for example, is the kind of merperson who rushes a bit. But not because he’s desperate, but because he’s…a bit of an airhead and doesn’t really know where to begin or where to end. Yuuri had to tell him a couple of times to slow down.

Extras

Hair ornaments are a popular gift both for friends and for courting

Gifts such as bracelets and earrings, when kept and worn, are usually seen as a hint that the courting process has been successful so far.

Mermen like to flash their fins to get attention during courtship. It’s seen as a dorky, sometimes childish thing, because the ones who do that are mostly young mermen.

Mermaids tend to interwine their tails with their partners’ during courtship. It’s also done a lot with close friends- mermaid might interwine the end of their tails with a close friend’s.

Throughout all of the courting process, there’s almost no neck touching. This only happens after at least six months of stable dating.

Pet names are a thing.

Silly playing, such as chasing/playing tag, hide and seek etc usually mean that the couple is extremely comfortable around each other.

Happy couples may swim with their fins relaxed. Unstable couples swim with folded, thinned fins, as a way to show their discomfort.

Domestic things, such as sleepovers, cooking, cleaning etc are also nice courting strategies.
