Jim meant it as a joke. He forgot who he was talking to for a moment, otherwise he never would have asked. He knew he didn't like a lot of the answers to his questions even in jest, so he didn't know how he could have forgotten, but he regretted it as soon as it slipped past his lips. "Do you ever feel truly happy, Tones?"

It had been a joke, Jim thought, heart sinking to his toes as he watched Tony blink in surprise. To anyone else, they would have laughed it off, taken it as the hint it was to stop complaining about his failed experiment and instead look at what went right. But as he watched Tony's lips purse and his brows furrow in thought, he knew he was going to get an earnest answer.

"...Not really, no, I don't think so," Tony finally answered. After another moment of consideration, he added, "I was always trying too hard to make other people happy and I never learned what it felt like myself."

Jim swallowed thickly, so his voice wouldn't crack when he said, "Oh."

Tony looked back up at him, guileless, eyes steady. "But I feel good when I'm with you. I think that's better than being happy."

"Oh," Jim said again, and this time his voice did crack, and he walked over to sling an arm over his shoulders. "Are you coming to mine for Christmas this year?"

"Yeah," Tony answered simply, looking back down at the computer program he'd been complaining about, as if he hadn't just said the saddest thing that Jim had ever heard. "Um, tell your mom I'm bringing something? She'll tell me what."

"Sure," Jim choked out, and then, "Come on, let's rubber duck this code."

Usually, Jim adores all the nicknames that Tony gives him. They're all slightly ridiculous and random as all hell, but it's Tony's love language and it makes Jim smile like a loon.

But really, Tones, there's a time and a place.

"Come on, dude, stop teasing and just fuck me," Tony pants.

Jim pauses from where he's mouthing at Tony's thighs and looks up. Tony's head is thrown back and his eyes are closed and he is clearly completely unaware of what he's just said. Jim bursts out laughing.

Tony's eyes pop open. "What?"

"Tony, baby, I love you and would love nothing more than to fuck you but you have to understand how unsexy it is to be called 'dude' when I'm about to go down on you."

"I did not call you dude. I have never said the word dude in my life."

"Yes, you did! 'Come on, dude, just fuck me.'" Jim does a poor imitation of Tony.

"Lies. I did not."

"JARVIS, did Tony ca–"

"Okay, no, don't bring our son into this!" Tony giggles and covers his face with his hands.

Jim falls onto his back next to Tony and laughs some more, egged on by the breathless giggles he hears from the other man. They clutch at one another's hips and burst out into little fits every time they look at each other, and it's a while before they start to calm down.

Eventually, they start kissing again in between their laughter, teeth clacking together messily because they're smiling so much and Tony asks, "Well? Are you going to fuck me or not?"

Welcome to my Iron Man 1 spread, the first in my series of MCU journal spreads!

This took me a couple days to make, probably about 10+ hours of work from finding photos, editing said photos, printing it all out at the library, cutting them out, planning the layout, making the arc reactor and quotes, writing all the lil entries and comments, finding the perfect sticker placements and generally staring at a bunch of scraps of paper and trying to figure out what the FUCK to do with them. Of course filming and editing afterwards adds another like 5 hours onto that time haha.

I think my favorite part was drawing the devil horns and tail on Obadiah lol. And of course rambling about like love for the Ironhusbands ship. I wish the red paper with blue pen looked better on camera, but oh well, it looks fuckin wicked in person!

Anyway, next up is Iron Man 2!
