I have a DC X MLB prompt: Captain Marvel and MLB characters.

I want the Justice League to be appalled at Marinette and Chat's age, only for Marinette to turn to Captain Marvel and absolutely out him for his age.

I want her to notice he's not actually that old because of the way he talks. (There is a difference between how adults talk and use modern slang versus how younger people, such as teenagers and children talk and use modern slang).

I want him to look at her and be like, "Yep, I feel that."

I want them to bond over the fact that they were both given an obscene amount of magic and responsibility at an age that is far too young to actually have this put on them.

I want him to be immune to Akumas because he has magic invulnerability, making him one of the only outside heroes allowed into Paris without fear of him being Akumatized.

Marinette and Billy bonding over their somewhat irresponsible predecessors. (Shazam the Wizard and Master Fu)

I don't necessarily want him to be in a romantic relationship with any of them, I just think that it would be really cool to see them interact and be friends.

Okay i get that alot of people make alot of well written but sometimes weird crossovers and alternate universes but can someone please explain how bruce wayne IS marinette dupain-cheng? 😭 i somehwat understand the maribat fanfic but cmon BATMAN BEING LADYBUG?

Oooh, good point! I think I’d prefer to go for a mix of two and three. An experienced Danny who’s super sick of the hero life, but he’s still pretty experience and maybe even harbors resent for the league since they never helped him out. I kinda have a thing for stories about Danny having issues with the league, lol. What do you think?

From what I've seen you're not alone with that preference/niche! lol I've even read some Miraculous Ladybug x DC crossover with a similar concept, back when I used to read fics for MLB (it's been a while since I last read fanfic for MLB though). I know I did play around with the concept for down the rabbit hole (goes the throne). However, something that's very tricky to balance is making sure Danny doesn't come off as... self-centered, I guess the right word would be?

Because yes, it's understandable that Danny would be upset that no one tried to help him if they did reach out. At the same time, you have to consider the possibility of censorship thanks to the GIW (which is a popular headcanon) or that Vlad used Desiree to make a wish that would shield the town for his machinations and schemes (which is another headcanon I've seen used before). Danny can be upset at first but if he finds out that their attempts for contact literally could not connect, then it would be unreasonable for Danny to keep harboring that resentment when they're here now because they found out. That implies that had they known back then they would have tried something too, but they are not meant to be omniscient, no matter how hard Bruce might try to be.

Plus... the JL already have a lot of responsibilities. Most if not all these heroes have a base of operations- an entire city to take care of. And yes, so does Danny, but they can't just drop everything and come to his rescue, especially if the problem is much more extensive than just closing the portal. (Which Danny could technically do at any given time, but chooses not to.) But let's not talk about that. And there's also all the off-world missions they're in charge of or participate in. And many heroes have their day jobs and civilian lives to maintain, and plenty of these heroes have kids! Things are complicated!

But complex situations make things all the more interesting, do they not? ;3

Let's play around with that, shall we?

"Are you really a ghost?" Bart asks Phantom in curiosity. Is it just 'Phantom' or is it 'The Phantom' because the latter sounds much more mysterious, but is that trade-marked by-

"You think too fast," Phantom grumbles under his breath as he zips around a burning piece of rubble. He hardly bats an eye at it, just watches it fly past and then freezes it, effectively putting out the flames. The rubble slides innocently across the blacktop, falling alongside all the other pieces he's already frozen over.

Phantom's hardly even trying. It's so not crash.

"You're not like any ghost I've ever seen before," Secret agrees with a small frown. She doesn't distrust Phantom necessarily, but her own curiosity is hard to fight down.

Phantom's lips twist with amusement. "I could say the same to you actually." The group collectively watch as Phantom's legs twist and disappear into a wispy tail, the ghost curling it around as if to hug himself.

"What kind of Casper..." Kon overhears Tim mutter to himself. It's a good thing he doesn't have a piece of paper, else he'd be taking rapid fire notes. A computer would've done in a jiffy, of course, but it's not like they had access to one of those in a blown out city street like this.

"I've never heard about you before," Cassie comments with pinched brows. She doesn't look happy about it.

And for what it's worth, Phantom doesn't either.

"You wouldn't," Phantom drawls. There's no mirth in his voice. He turns back to the villain of the day, hands sparking as he zaps the machine so thoroughly that sparks fly and the metal audibly creaks.

Kon shivers at the display. He's not afraid, not really, but he's still uneasy... He knows that Captain Marvel is one of those heroes on par with Superman, and right now, watching Phantom wield his lightning, Kon's starting to see why.

The group shuffle around uncomfortably as Phantom sucks up the villain into a soup thermos? Now that's not something you see every day.

"What's that do?" Tim, ever perceptive, prods Phantom for answers.

"It contains ghosts, spectral entities, the works," Phantom replies curtly, capping the thermos with practiced ease. Ease that spoke of experience. "You kids alright?"

"Dude, you're barely four years older than some of us," Anita deadpans with an unimpressed look. "You don't get to call us 'kids'."

Phantom lifts his shoulders in a shrug. "Sorry, y'all are still babies to me." He points at Kon. "You've gotta be, what, not even six months old?"

Kon prickles at the remark. "That's none of your business." He knows he's not that old chronologically, but that doesn't make him an infant. He'd appreciate some respect about it.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Danny replies and it sounds sincere? But most of them don't take too kindly to him anyways. He just gives bad vibes is all. "Where are your mentors? I feel like there should be at least one of them around to supervise."

"We can take care of ourselves," Tim insists, crossing his arms over his chest. Uh oh, he's hurt Timmy's feelings. That's never a good sign.

"You're kids, you shouldn't have to," Phantom sneers slightly, snidely more like.

"Like you did?" Secret asks tentatively. Phantom's hair visibly floats up, picked up by an inexplicable wind. His eyes glow a shade brighter. It's eerie. It's uncomfortable.

Phantom's face might be impassive, but he still remains an open book.

"Yeah, something like that," Phantom murmurs, his tone unreadable. "I hope you can take care of yourselves. One day you might be the only ones that do."

With that ominous warning, Phantom disappears. Here one minute, gone the next. Like a true ghost.

"I vote we call him 'Casper the Unfriendly Ghost'," Bart announces out of the blue. "Raise your hand if you agree?"

At once, every single member raises their hand.

"Motion passed."

SAYS: Maribat, Jason Todd x Marinette Dupain-Cheng • This was originally a short 2k fic I wrote to get out of my head. A couple years later, I dusted it off and polished it up, and then the ideas wouldn't stop flowing (I still have several outtakes and bonus scenes to write & post). I'm proud of myself for sticking to it (it was my longest fic on ao3 for a while) and not rushing it when the dopamine high faded. I think it's a testament to my improved writing skills and it's special to me, as it was my first long fic for the Maribat Fandom that I posted. I also became close to the absolute love of my life @sarcasticbambi, who was my beta for the fic and gave me some lovely, absolutely heartwarming and forever-remembering-worthy compliments that really boosted my confidence in my writing.

Daminette Headcanon - The Generational Chaos Gene

Ok so we all know the bio!Dad Bruce Wayne trope but what about bio!Dad Damian?

Imagine him finding out about his daughter;

Was she created from a one night stand with assassin!Sabine during their time in the league?

Could Talia have planned this and when the Dupain-Cheng’s were getting IVF, she switched Tom’s sperm with Damian’s?

Could some villain have taken advantage of him whilst he slept? (He discounts this idea when he meets Sabine due to her being THE LITERAL EMBODIMENT OF SUNSHINE)

Ok but Damian never saw himself as a father, he has no clue what to do. Now Mari isn’t some toddler she is a teen and he could definitely tell that she takes after him. She loves animals, runs a eco-friendly business & doesn’t let anyone walk over her.

He is proud when he discovers she also takes after him in the heroism department. He had never thought a yo-yo could be a weapon. While he is proud he also become anxious.

The miraculous team were much more reckless than the Batfam.

“How could you just JUMP INTO A T-REX’S MOUTH.”

“Like you haven’t done anything in the heat of the moment, Mr I-Want-Vengeance.”

Goddamn these kids were gonna make him into Dick.

He might need to go to a doctor to check on these heart palpitations, I MEAN COME ON CHAT NOIR DROPPED A BUILDING ON HIS DAUGHTER? WHO WOULDN’T BE SCARED.

I can imagine him dragging a hand down his face grumbling about him (Damian) “not being this much of a hassle for Father (Bruce)”

He brings up hypothetical situations with his family on the possibility of him having a daughter, the laughed but humoured him. Mar’i (aged in her early 20s) was the ‘first’ to discover the actual truth, she was so excited to have another little cousin. But let’s be real Tim probably already knew, he’s not gonna tell Damian that, he needed to live to feed his birds (a carrier pigeon on & Kon, but I’m sure if Tim were to sadly pass Damian would care for at least one of the birds). Jason smoked a cigarette and laughed before booking a flight to find this new member of the Wayne clan.

Actual shaded art, imagine that? And a little bit of Daminette themed at that. This was one of the first things I did before I started designing my own personal suits and outfits for her for this verse ( again, I write Marinette on a roleplay blog so I’ve got a LOT in the works ), and I thought this was a cute idea bc I love the animated movies and I love Wayne Family Adventures, so—two different versions!!

I reckon Jon helped her get a hold of it ( dependent on the Damian version ) so she keeps it for a time, gives it back and steals it again because she secretly loves wearing it?? I like to imagine that Marinette & Damian have this love-hate rivalry kind of deal at first and THEN it starts to develop into something more series. Idk, just my personal take on it which I try to apply to my art. ♡

Someone on A03 asked how the Kent’s and Wayne’s in my Songs of a Kent series would react to Marinette knowing Jagged Stone.

I decided to just go ahead and give the headcannons I have for this, since I don’t think I’ll be able to cover it in the story. But as far as Lament of a Kent and any other installments in the series go, everything below is canon.

I don’t think Jon or Clark would care. They’re both country boys at heart, and are more likely to swoon over a country singer than a rock artist. Lois, though? I think Lois had a crush on Jagged when she was a teenager (for the purposes of this story, Jagged and Lois are almost the same age) when he was just starting to get popular. So she would totally have an internal freak out if Jagged ever visited Mari, but she would try to play it off cool because she is a Suave and Professional Interviewer, she’s met tons of famous people, she can handle this. Totally.

Kon would go nuts. Jagged is one of his idols, both in fashion sense and music. He would play it off cool as possible in front of Jagged, but when he’s gone he’d unapologetically call Mari his favorite sibling and fanboy with her over meeting his idol.

Now, the Wayne’s? It is no secret, every last one of them had an angsty punk/emo phase— one that Jason clearly never grew out of. Every last one of them, except Damian, wandered upon Jagged’s music sometime during their teen years and it fueled their rebellious phase and seriously helped them gain more confidence in themselves. Dick suggested that Damian listen to Jagged’s music about a year or so before the story begins, so he’s still a baby fan. But he likes the music, not that he’ll ever admit it to anyone. He listens to Jagged when he paints, now. But if they were to find out that Mari knew Jagged personally, all of them except Damian would immediately bombard her with questions or beg her for stories. Tim would ask about the rockstar’s favorite foods and drinks and other weird trivia. Dick would want all the stories of the craziest things he and Mari did together. Jason would just want her to ramble to him about random memories of her and Jagged. Damian would pretend to be disinterested, but listens whenever the topic is brought up.

None of them know that Bruce and Jagged went to high-school together, so Bruce just hangs back and watches the chaos with a smirk as he plans to invite Jagged over behind all of their backs. He also, by virtue of being his friend when his music career first began, is Jagged’s Number One Fan. Secretly, of course. None of the kids know that Bruce has signed copies of every last one of Jagged’s albums, including the ones where Marinette had designed the covers. He even has one of Jagged’s old tour outfits that Jagged gave him as a joke— he keeps it in a glass container like the old robin costumes, but in a hidden part of the wall that only he and Alfred have access to/know is there. His secret Jagged Stone collection also contains tons of pictures of him and a young Jagged at various concerts and even just hanging out, and lots of other fan collectibles and limited edition Jagged Stone merch. It’s great.

selina likes to joke whenever she needs to get marinette to eat, drink, and sleep that way marinette doesn’t feel guilty or a burden

selina asks her about the school ‘tea’ to make sure she’s doing okay at school

she makes sure marinette always has a choice, but also makes sure she’s not feeling overwhelmed by the options

she moves slowly with marinette

she subtly distracts marinette from scratching her wrists/neck

selina goes shopping with marinette and makes her do a little fashion show in the dressing area

she also makes sure she sees jagged and penny frequently

she makes sure damian either keeps his mouth shut, or just leaves marinette alone

dick might try to talk to her, but he doesn’t really help

bruce rethinks his life choices and regrets his past actions

he tries to make it not seem like he’s the ‘boss’ whenever he’s taking to marinette

he tries to muster out the most gentle voice he can when talking to marinette

he has to remember not look upset in front of marinette

he asks harley for tips and tells her not to tell selena

So I love literature nerd jason but more than anything I love young literature nerd jason. Before he was reading jane austen and shakespeare you just know that he was a percy jackson nerd. You know he's read all the Maze Runner books. He adored the Divergent series. You just KNOW that he used slang from the books and took quizzes on buzzfeed all day about his godly parent and hogwarts house and the like. I love the idea of Marinette finding out about how big of NERD he is and Jason frantically trying to maintain his badass aesthetic. It brings me so much joy I swear

Oh hell yeah.

He read Animorphs and all the Magic Treehouse books that were out and pretended the entrance to the Batcave was his own Narnia. He had a whole shelf devoted to Dr Suess and Shel Silverstein (where the sidewalk ends). He tore through all the Bones comics (and pronounced quiche wrong for a month until Alfred corrected him) and his copy of Matilda didn’t leave his side for a month as he reread it over and over and over again, putting notes in the margins and dogearing pages and loving the story down to his bones.

(Bruce caught him one night, pretending to make all weapons in the Batcave dance like Matilda does with her kitchen).

The moment he had the means, he began devouring any book he could get his hands on. His ‘to read’ pile was as tall as him and even reading a book a day it never shrunk cause he just kept piling more on. He has sticky notes in all his favorite books and rearranged his shelves every other week cause he’d get new books and need somewhere to put them.

Effectively, I think Jason just likes reading in general. I think his taste is so eclectic that the genre, length, or book type has so little bearing on his enjoyment that it’s practically a nonissue.

But then why does he seem to have such a soft spot for classic literature as an adult? My personal headcanon for that is that those are simply the type of books Alfred (and Bruce) would have enjoyed/talked about with him the most.

That isn’t to say they didn’t read the same ‘kids books’ Jason loved, but often by the time one of them finished Jason’s newest interest book, the boy had already moved on to the next one. it’s hard to hold a conversation about a book you never read, and with how Jason probably babbled about plot points and debated themes, the adults had to rely on the things they read before Jason came around ie Shakespeare and Dickenson and Mark Twain and whoever else.

So Jason likes the classics for themselves, but I also think that nostalgia plays an important role in keeping their place at the top of Jason’s favorites lists. (classics were the type of books Bruce and Jason would collect first editions of after all)

It’s about the Bonding for him and whether that’s subconscious or not doesn’t really matter.

Which! (bringing it back around to maribat lol) If mari learned about how much of a nerd he was about kids books or how obsessed he was with them, she wouldn’t even miss a beat. Sure, she teases him a little bit, but the next day she has a copy of percy jackson in her hand and the Chronicles of Narnia set to go next once she finishes the series. she tells him her thoughts and they get into playful disagreements about best characters and Mari looks up cons two cities over that they can go to (because Jason will never dress up where his family can see). She redecorates their chore chart into a Hogwarts house points system and knits him his own ‘weasley sweater’ for christmas and basically supports him in his childhood interests so much that he starts saying nerdy things as Red Hood.

(criminals around town notice him doing it but would deny that they do on pain of death. Half of them are actually convinced he isn’t even doing it on purpose, like, “the Red Hood just accidentally quoted Dr Suess at Black Mask, this is Fine.”

Mari thinks it’s hilarious. Jason wants to slam his face into a wall every time he does it.)

I'm requesting a fanfic with this prompt. Don't really care what Fandom, but I'll probably tag most, if not all the ones I'm in in the tags.

I'm sick. And I have been coughing so much, that I'm pretty sure my throat is in shreds.

Anyways, I basically lost my voice, and can now hit whistle notes while talking when my body decides to randomly do that.

I want someone to write a fanfic where the reader or desired character (AMAB, AFAB, male, female, nonbinary, anything really) is sick, and the way the love interest notices is their voice is either lower than it normally is, or it's much higher than it normally is, and it is constantly alternating between the two.

Like, just imagine, talking to the love interest, and your voice just suddenly becomes so high only dogs can hear it, and they're just like O.o

OMG I'm so in love with Daminette its not even healthy anymore.

Daminette Soulmate AU headcanon where they can mentally communicate with each other. Not mind reading where they can tell what the other is thinking but the one where they can talk with each othee without speaking out loud. And they can consciously turn it on and off.

So, the canon MLB happened here. Marinette will fall in love with Adrien despite having a soulmate. If anything, she hated her soulmate. They are rather rude whenever they talk. Kinda gives the Chloe I'm-better-than-all-of-you attitude.

Besides, she's pretty sure he hated her, too.

In fact, Marinette could count on one hand times they talked to each other.

So. Years passed and post-Hawkmoth and while Adrien and Marinette dated for those few months after hawkmoth's defeat, they agreed they are better off more than friends but less than lovers.

Imagine her surprise one day, when she heard a tentative are you there? from the other side of her bond. Confused as to the tone of his voice and what prompted this contact, she replied a curt yes.

What he said next will had her opening the Miracle Box and bring her out of Paris and to the most crime ridden of the world, Gotham.

"Listen," he started,"I don't think even the Pit can resurrect me after this and I want you to tell my father that its not their fault. I'm such an arrogant know-it-all I thought I know what I'm doing. Knowing him, he will surely blame himself for my death. His name is Bruce Wayne"

Sensing her soulmate is not quite finished, Marinette tried to clear her thoughts even though her insides are screaming for her to move.

"And to Rachel: Please tell her I didn't like the way it ended and if it's up to me, I'd rather it end in any other circumstances..."

By this time, Marinette had already managed to quickly pull up a general Google search and saw that Bruce Wayne lives in Gotham. She's surprised to garner much results but for now, her soulmate sounds as if he needed her help.

"And Marinette... I wish we could have met. Maybe in another world where I'm a better person than I am, we would have met. Perhaps I will be more deserving of you, I can tell you're a good person—"

Before he could continue, Marinette snapped at him. "Where are you?"

"It doesn't matter. I already have the Bat—er, my father's car and I'm driving away this trigger from the City."

so headcanon (and this is going to completely disregard any kind of dc canon) that, in a dc x mlb crossover, the reason we never see alix's mom is because she was a retired supervillain.

Alix's mom had super-speed and was from gotham, but fell in love with alix's dad when he went there on a business trip. She retired from the supervillain life to settle down and have a family with him. However, she eventually had to go back to gotham to clear something up, officially announce her retirement, and leave complete. but when she was there, she was killed by the joker or some other supervillain. maybe even the police if we want to go that way.

some part of my brain is niggling me about either alixs brother or dad having something to do with death, so alixs mom being dead could tie into that?

Duusu created the emotianal entities that power the lantern corps. The kwami would be held very high regard by the Guardians of the universe (GU) (the guys who created the green lantern corp). Duusu would probably be held in particulary high regard.

How would Mari react to Lex Luthor? Plus some scenes and bits

Oh she's on a warpath

She's been commissioned by him once and she knows exactly what kind of person he is

She and her family are immune to his 'charms' and not afraid to call him out on his BS

She's had enough practice with Lila, who changes situations to her benefit

Meanwhile, Luthor thrives in a known environment, taking calculations and most likely risks

He's not prepared for a 5'2 teen absolutely destroying him with two billionaires, a genius brother, two ninja brothers, a hacker sister, a Tameranian sister and niece, a grandfather who's not afraid to throw down like he did in his youth, a spider brother who's also a genius in his own right, a brother with a potato gun, Pepper (who deals with Tony's form of BS and the public), Penny (who's on the same tier as Pepper because Jagged is wilder, but with somehow less room to make her hair gray), Wayne and Stark lawyers, an ex-assassin aunt, a super-powered ex-assassin uncle, a crocodile, the entirety of the villains from Gotham, an Amazonian princess (who slays like the Queen she is), a mother who can and will throw down, like 4 archer aunts/uncles, two Kryptonians, two superheroes from Paris (who are screaming curses at him in French and every other language they may or may not know), and two major journalists waiting for a chance to dethrone Luthor

This is the one instance (minus anything related to the Joker) she lets Damian go wild with the katanas

"Now?" "Yes. Have fun." The grin Damian Wayne has fills even the Joker with fear should he see it

As it is, Luthor is really starting to panic on Plan B

He doesn't last long against the Mari Protection Squad™, and in a last-ditch effort, he tries taking a few hostages

Mari is one of them

Imagine his surprise when the 5'2 child who started this mess easily takes down his defenses and actually beats his arse

The Mari Protection Squad™ has never been prouder

"Look at our baby! She's all grown up, now!" "She's my kid, Stark, go get your own." "You have, like, seven, Wayne. You don't need anymore."

Sabine smiles at the billionaires, a threatening aura around her.

"Don't you mean my baby?"

They respond at the same time. "Yes, Ma'am."

No one questions how sunshine incarnate got so many people in her protection squad

Everyone knows that, if Mari so asked, she'd get the entire world and everything in it within an hour, tops

But she never asks, and everyone wonders whether this child has any desires

Like, seriously kid, shouldn't you ask for something? Like, anything??

The only thing she asks for is for her family to stop embarrassing her

Alas, that's the one thing they can't give

Can't believe I forgot about Lex Luthor. Obviously, Marinette loathes liars and manipulators and bullies now, so imagine her fierce hatred for Lex.

Harley didn't expect this tiny little girl to go toe-to-toe with both him and Tony, but it's a welcome surprise. It's been a while since he's sassed someone this hard, and yeah, Pete's surprisingly sassy and sarcastic at times, but he's just too... pure. Nice. He usually ends up apologizing to whomever he sassed, and while nice, it kinda ruined the mood.

Mari, though?

She wasn't afraid to bite. And after meeting her mother... Harley knew where she got it from. It seemed the only one in Mari's family who was too nice to sass besides Peter was her father, who was hilarious in his own right. It seemed to Harley the sassing was genetic.

If Alfred was a lesser man, he would've stood gaping like a fish in the doorway. As it was, Master Jason, Master Damian, and Master Bruce weren't much better. Alfred didn't blame them, though, since Master Tim actually looked alive instead of the zombie he was. "How did you sleep, Master Tim?"

"Actually okay, Al. Pixie Pop makes a mean Sleepytime Tea."

Alfred made a mental note to get the recipe from Miss Marinette sooner rather than later.

Marinette frowned, crossing her arms and looking between the three boys on the couch, who were all fiddling in one way or another. Dick was crossing and uncrossing his arms, about five minutes apart. Jason's eyes flitted from one end of the room to the next faster than Tim's shuffle to the coffee machine in the morning. Tim was sitting ramrod straight, knee bouncing minutely. Damian's scowl had deepened so far Marinette feared it was etched into his face now. Bruce was standing (ahem brooding ahem) in the corner, but Marinette knew his gaze was marking and remarking the exits. Marinette's brow furrowed, her arms crossed and stance intimidating. "So you're telling me... every single one of you has died and been brought back to life?" It was phrased as a question, but said as a statement, her voice overly sweet and high pitched.

Shivers trailed down the BatFam's spines, the understanding that 'yes, we're dead. Again' flowing into their heads like a collective thought. They knew that tone, that voice. That's the voice she used when she was absolutely pissed. When she knew she was gonna win and kick arse. When she had a plan to destroy her prey. When she was done with whatever act she had up, her true colors shining free. The bright confidence and strength blinding to whoever wasn't expecting or used to it. She turned back to the Batman- Bruce Wayne- her face a chilling smile and deceptively sweet. "And you let them?"

Now, Bruce didn't scare easy. He's Batman, for crying out loud! But, for that one second... he was terrified. And he knew it wasn't just him. All his boys were scared beyond belief at the sheer.... emotion Marinette radiated, none of the Waynes emotionally competent enough to name the mixture, but they all knew anger was in there somewhere. It was there in that spark, gleaming proudly in her eyes.

The same one they saw in Sabine when she pummeled first the Joker, then Lila, then Lex Luthor. And the thought that Marinette shared that spark?

It terrified them, mainly because they saw the effects of that spark.
