Time Travel is my favourite trope and I think we need more fics where both Obi-Wan AND Qui-Gon time travel together because no matter when they get sent it's chaos. They're saving the galaxy and being physic flash-bangs to everyone around them.
like before Bandomeer?
The entire council is baffled to watch as Qui-Gon 'never taking a padawan again' Jinn has suddenly cut off his post-Xanatos depression tour to return to the temple and beeline to the creche with a frantic energy. His wild eyes immediately single out a fluffy, red-haired initiate.
"You." he exhales with a pointed finger, slightly ominous as he towers over the child. Said child starts vibrating with delight. "Me." he agrees, launching himself at the man. Qui-Gon drops to his knees with a thud that cannot be healthy. Obi-Wan's attempts to clamber into Qui-Gon's robes and maybe onto his shoulders is thwarted by the fact that Qui-Gon's massive hands are cupping Obi-Wan's tiny squishy cheeks. He stares at the initiate for a few minutes with an intensity that is starting to worry people.
Finally, "You're so small." Qui-Gon sounds like he might cry.
'What the fuck?' Plo Koon projects at Mace.
"I'm 9! That tends to be the case!" the child chirps back.
"You're nine." Oh. Ah. Qui-Gon's eyes are distinctively misty. He squishes the boy in a hug so hard he squeaks. Mace makes a series of gestures that imply the need for a head-scan. Depa obligingly drifts off towards the halls. Qui-Gon scoops the child up onto his hip and claims him as his padawan on the spot. The assorted council members and creche-masters burst into noise. Mace tells Depa to bring some space ibuprofen as well.
after Naboo?
Anakin is a little apprehensive of his place in both the order and Obi-Wan's life, but then one day Obi-Wan wakes up and is suddenly a lot less sad in the force?? In fact, if Anakin didn't know better he'd say he was almost giddy, but he's watched Obi-Wan try to pretend his world hasn't fallen apart for the past few months so it can't be that, right? And um, Miss Bant? He knows grief is a funny thing that affects people differently but he's pretty sure 'massive mood swing' and 'having full conversations with invisible people' is not...great? and you said to tell you if Obi-Wan got really weird in any way.
Anyway after a lot of medical exams, intense consultation with the archives, and a couple exorcisms, Anakin ends up being raised by his 'real' master and his ghost master. He is far more well adjusted emotionally and far less well adjusted for what counts as normal people behavior(not talking to thin air). When questioned on this, all he ever says is that he's talking to Qui-Gon. Isn't he...dead? Well, yes. Wait, he's a ghost? Ghosts are real? ...Well this ghost is real.
This starts a great number of existential crises among non-force sensitives and incredibly heated theological arguments amongst the Jedi. Whenever Obi-Wan is questioned on this, all he ever says is some variation of "the force got to know him for 5 seconds and kicked him back out." Mace backs him up on this even though that reasoning is technically blasphemous. Qui-Gon is having the time of his un-life. He's ascended to his final form, his sheer existence is a heresy, this is truly all he has ever aspired towards.
the Clone Wars?
The minute they get dropped back Qui-Gon immediately goes and haunts the shit out of Dooku. They have a signed terms of surrender and promise of info on the Sith Lord within the year. Only half of it is because Qui-Gon's giving Dooku complexes that are only perceptible to shrimp, the other half is because they now have a ghost spy that is not bound by the laws of physics nor spacetime.
Obi-Wan only nominally pays attention to this as he immediately goes and implements his 19 step seduction plan with Cody (he had to focus on something on Tatooine to pass the time). It fails. Spectacularly. Publicly. Ah right. Tatooine was not exactly the height of his sanity. Everyone in the GAR and temple is now riveted by High General and Councilor Obi-Wan Kenobi's attempts to go on a date with his Commander, who bats him away him like a particularly annoying stray and seems one bouquet of cactus away from committing mutiny. Anakin is worrying if it means his master knows about his secret marriage and this is some sort of really weird power play. (It is, but not in the way he thinks)
The next time Dooku goes after Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon spends a good few months appearing tear-stained at the edge of Dooku's perception and only communicating in terrible wails and discordant mutterings of 'padawan. my padawan. my little one.' 24/7.
"Wait, you're annoying Dooku into surrendering?"
"Oh no Anakin, we're crushing his psyche like a bug. :)"

for clone Danny, Clone Damian
I give you
Edit Clone Talia as somehow Girlfriend of Danny, just think of the comedy
nah brO BECAUSE LITERALLY I HAVE THOUGHT BOUT THAT. Literally since the conception of Clone Danny, I have thought about it. If only for, as you said, the COMEDY of it all. Plus I love writing romance.
Literally my motto for my aus is: A) is it plausible, B) is it FUNNY (and a secret third option C) is it ANGSTY)
Clone Talia would be an offshoot au of Clone^2 because idk how she'd fit into the original timeline, bUT, she'd exist. And to avoid confusion I'll call her Nasra - I thought about Tameka (which means twin) but I like Nasra better. "Talia and Nasra" just flows so nicely doesn't it?
Idk WHY there's a clone of Talia running around -- maybe the LoA made her, maybe n unknown organization who hates Batman and knows he has romantic ties to Talia, and started making a clone of her to fuck with him and then she got nabbed by a portal when she was still Danny's age and in the middle of training. She might be like Connor (??) and have memories and thus her training is more proficient than baby Dames.
Either way, regardless of how she was made, I think it's hilarious if she, much like baby Dames, immediately attacks Danny on sight. She falls into his city and Danny only has a moment to go "goddammit not agaIN" before he's fending off a very confused, very violent Nasra. Fortunately he's able to actually try and talk to her and be at least somewhat successful -- Nasra knows english. although even if she didn't, Danny would still be somewhat successful since he knows Arabic.
Also Bruce and Danny are the battinson bat because i think that is also hilarious and 'wet rat' is STILL the perfect energy for Danny as Phantom - especially in the early days when he's running around in all but jeans and a hoodie. (and god watch me go on a rant in a separate post about his outfit and reasonings for being Phantom when he has no powers later on because it makes me go FERAL. and his active choice to look as inhuman and ghost-like through his behavior as phantom and the decision to wear such a creepy mask as possible)
(like seriously, imagine walking home late at night while danny was still in his early vigilante days (and even now when he's got damian and a better suit) and seeing a skinny figure in the shadows with sunken in black-and-glowing-green eyes, and a bone white, skull-like face, crouched on all fours like a wild animal about to pounce. THAT is the level of creepiness I was going for for clone danny)
In my head, Sam offers to house Nasra and Nasra stays with her. SAm is able to convince her parents to let her stay, or she pulls a Danny and just straight up smuggles her in and her parents are none the wiser. I also think it's funny if they have unspoken BEEF with each other. Only to later become like sisters. Nasra teaches Sam the martial arts she knows, and also Danny joins in too with Damian because goddamn he needs it even IF he's learning stuff from his mom (as per the most recent snippet post I made).
OH AND DAMIAN AND NASRA. I think it's equally as funny if they ALSO have beef with each other. Nasra is a clone of his mother (of whom he might have complicated views on due to being a clone but still is his mother) and Damian is a clone of Nasra's "son". This beef largely starts from Damian's own refusal to want to share his Danny with another clone, especially with a clone of his MOTHER.
Danny and Nasra don't become lovers for a good, long while I think. They're besties first before they even consider the idea of dating -- not only just because of the whole "uhhh our counterparts dated so it'd feel kinda weird and forced if we dated" and also because Nasra, with her newfound freedom, is busy trying to figure out herself.
A big theme here in clone^2: discovering your identity and who you are as a person when the only thing you own that's unique is your name (which isn't even the case for Damian), and figuring out if your choices are your own or because you're a clone and its something your original would have done. Nature vs Nurture and the illusion of choice and whether it really is one or not.
Also Nasra also becomes a vigilante. Danny appreciates the help but is also tearing out his hair because what the fuck is up with these assassins and becoming vigilantes?! Nasra goes by "Nesha". She's similar to Red Huntress at first where she kinda does her own thing, but is lowkey forced to team up with Danny about it because she doesn't have any proper ghost hunting equipment with her.
And then a duo becomes a trio, and Danny is spending more time with her. And they steadily become friends. Very snarky friends who are very bratty to each other, but friends. Damian still doesn't like her so Danny spends extra time during patrol keeping the two of them from making insults at each other.
"Nesha please stop fighting with a nine year old. Wraith, quit insulting Nesha."
Nasra also uses like, weaponry as Nesha which exasperates Danny a little because why are you using swords??? They're already dead its not gonna kill them,,,, If you cut off their heads its just gonna piss em off, its re-attachable. Let him ghost-proof it first too. But well, its still gonna HURT he supposes. He's still a little exasperated.
And MMM i'm sorry lmao im so focused on Nasra becoming her own person than the actual romance aspect of it all. Nasra cuts her hair short for the same/similar reasons that Danny keeps his long - to try and gain a semblance of autonomy and identity that's away from their original. Danny has his alternative rock-kinda geeky look and Nasra's got, from influence from Sam, a more alternative fashion style. Although she still leans into being feminine, which is a good challenge to Sam's belief that feminity = bad, and gets her to unlearn those bad habits since her new adoptive sister is feminine while still being an unapologetic badass.
And ykw I think Nasra gets into rollerblading and loves it. She rollerblades constantly. Damian is furious because skating is his thing (even if what he gets later on is a skateboard - skater boy damian ftw. i can see him wearing flannels and graphic tees as a teenager. very grungy/skater aesthetic. He also has a much more relaxed and teen-y speech pattern compared to DW's more formal way of talking. He also spray paints as his form of artistic medium.) and he refuses to have Nasra be a copy of him.
They will sort out their differences eventually. LMao.
Anyways they eventually do get together, but not before Danny finally has his run in with Mister Wayne. Which, they only meet because Danny starts destabilizing, and thus needs Bruce Wayne's DNA to help stabilize himself. Which that meeting in and of itself is pretty chaotic on its own, but then add clone Damian and Nasra? Bruce needs coffee.. or alcohol.
Because picture this: its late at night, you're on patrol with the rest of your family. It's like, two in the morning. You suddenly get a call in from your butler, Alfred, informing you that not one, not two, but THREE children -- two of them in their late teens and the other one not even ten yet -- showed up on your doorstep. One of them is unconscious. They are all clones.
The girl and the boy are twins - and are clones of YOU - and the girl isn't even technically YOUR clone she's a clone of your clone - and also this clone of you is your college friends' kid. And then the youngest boy is a clone of your youngest SON. Bruce is running across rooftops when he gets this call and does a literal 180 degree turn and touches the ground because he basically did a figure skating turn, and sprints back towards the manor because what the fuck? He needs to check this out.
And then half a day later a clone of your fucking ex shows up on your doorstep demanding to see the clone of you - the boy that is, not the girl - and then immediately gets into a verbal lashing with the clone of your son. Like what a fucking DAY. Your kids are equally as baffled but also laughing their asses off -- except your bio son, who is very unhappy about this turn of events and keeps getting the stink eye from his clone.
Like??? I'd quit right then and there.
While Danny recovers he's staying in Wayne manor and Damian is very reportedly not leaving his side. Ellie has to leave to help take care of Amity Park with RH, and then Nasra is also very determinedly not leaving his side either. This is her friend dammit. The first thing she does when he becomes lucid is insult him, and he insults her back - they're bantering. It's how they flirt later on. None of the Bats know how to deal with this situation.

AU where Jango lives and somehow Jango and Dooku manage to get a hold of Obi-Wan at the same time and for once Jango is torn on who to go for first, arguably, Obi-Wan is the better target, seeing as Obi is less likely to hurt his son if he manages to win their fight and will likely drop Boba off with a more pandering adult to take care of him, but Dooku is Right There and he would very much like to murder him, but who knows if Obi-Wan’s family instincts will kick in and protect his ba’buir. But then. Dooku. Is just standing there. Vibrating at a frequency so high he’s almost able to perceive Qui-Gon in the force through that alone, 17 caffs into a binge on day 5 away with an annoying ghost son in his ear threatening that if he hurts Obi-Wan in any way whatsoever the first thing Qui-Gon is doing when he dies is punching him in the face and no he can’t hurt the baby clone either might as well just take a step back from this situation as a whole cause it’s not gonna go good, so, being the smart man Dooku is, Dooku just sorta shrugs (in the force, he’s so tense rn he couldn’t shrug if he tried) and proceeds to kidnap all three of them (confused preteen Boba is confused but relatively okay lmao) and that’s how Obi-Wan and Jango wake up locked inside a lovely set of ‘guest quarters’ in the Count’s palace with Boba and now they have to cohabitate with Dooku occasionally coming in to cry about how perfectly stupid Qui-Gon was as a small child and how he’d bitten So Many People and Qui-Gon says Obi-Wan bit even more as a kid than he did and Jango is just sitting here listening to a (tired??? Drunk???? Unsober. We’re calling that Unsober) Dooku cry about how perfectly feral his kids were and how most of their family is DEAD and it’s always falling to the dark side that does them in and Komari was ferally adorable as a wee one and Xanatos had been the bubbliest lil boy before Qui-Gon spoiled him too much and now Obi-Wan is somehow the most sunshine of their lineage while Obi-Wan looks on in horror at his childhood being spilled like this before mentioning that maybe Grandmaster should take a nap only to be picked up by said grandmaster and cried on because ‘he called me grandmaster! Fett did you hear that the sunshine baby called me Grandmaster!’ And Jango is like ‘god I wish I had a camera this could be so much blackmail’ and then finally Jango and Obi manage to escape with a still confused Boba (it’s his natural state) and make their way back to a very annoyed 212th where Jango is all ‘listen. I’ve thought about it. And I’ve decided I’m marrying Kenobi.’ And Obi is like ‘you are???? Why???’ ‘According to your ba’buir you’re the only good one’ and now Cody and Waxer and Boil are staging a ‘YOURE NOT MY DAD’ protesting fit and Obi-Wan is so confused at this turn of situation. Wtf.

So if you’re new to the Danny Phantom fandom whether that be because you have joined us via a crossover, the new graphic novel coming out or just somehow got hooked into this fandom there are a few things you should know.
90% of content you will see is purely fanon lore.
I’m gonna divide this into two different sections, going over what is canon and then the most common things from fanon.
So if you go by the show, we have at least three different kinds of ghosts. We have ones like the Fright Knight who is a spirit formed from the feelings and beliefs of people surrounding the thoughts of Halloween and we have ones who were once humans like Sidney Poindexter and Desiree. There are also some who are the product of two different ghosts like Box Lunch. We technically also have the Ancients, but we don’t know anything about them except that they existed many years ago and then they enclosed Pariah Dark in the Sarcophagus of Forever sleep.
We know that a high concentration of ectoplasm introduced very quickly can causes human to turn into a half ghost. This happened with Danny at least 3 times, and the accident Vlad had (as well as Jack in an alternate timeline). Danny was changed twice by the portal and then once by being blasted by a bunch of ectoplasm.
In canon, the Fenton parents are very loving parents with just a bit of absent mindedness to them that leads to them missing the obvious signs that something is up with Danny. Every time in the show that he is exposed to them, he is accepted by them entirely. Even when in an alternate timeline where his parents never got together, he is accepted by them.
In canon, Jazz started out not knowing how to help Danny, Tucker and Sam, but it is shown in the show that she trains to be better later on. She still calls the ghosts by things she designated them as though, not how they would like to be called.
In canon, Vlad is awful. He regularly tries to Hamlet the main character. He tried to ruin/kill Jack to get with Maddie and make their kids his kids many, many times. He cloned a child, gaslit the clones into thinking he cared for them and then planned to melt them down to have his “perfect son”. In canon of the show, Vlad is not redeemable. (This sorta changes a bit in the graphic novel, but it’s a toss up whether that is actually considered active canon or if it’s its own canon now.)
In canon, Tucker is a genius after he was forced to sit through 12 hours of study programming. In canon, he is the reincarnation of a Pharaoh. He can speak a made-up language, Esperanto, and can hack into nearly every piece of tech he comes across.
In canon, Sam is obsessed with all things goth and so has tomes about magical beings and artifacts. She is athletic and is always ready to throw down. She only has plant powers in the episode “Urban Jungle”.
Now onto the Fanon, at least the most popular headcanons that I have come across.
The most common thing among the fandom is that Danny is half-dead. Some have him a ghost possessing his own corpse. Some have him be Schrodinger’s boy. Some have him have lower vitals or just no vital signs altogether. He is said to have died and not come back all the way or right. Common things have him be cold to the touch, a lower heart rate, and him forgetting to breathe entirely.
Probably the second most common headcanon is that Danny is the Ghost King after having fought and defeated Pariah Dark in single combat. Ways he takes the throne are varied, everything from him being forcibly put onto the throne and unable to go to the human world, to having to name Jazz or Maddie as regent until he reaches either human or ghostly majority, to him taking the throne but it being more of a figurehead thing. Most stories will have him have a plethora of titles and names he goes by. Along with this he now has a lair inside the Zone, most have him taking over Pariah’s Keep and some do have him have his own new lair.
Another popular headcanon is Ancient of Space or the Balance Danny (going with AGIT, the balance actually is now canon). These lead to things like Danny having an eldritch form. Something that is obviously “other” and hurts to perceive.
Both of these result in an OP Danny and probably around half of them will have him stuck at 14 and/or functionally immortal.
Another very common DP headcanon is Bad Fenton Parents and that their research caused the GIW’s formation. Alongside that come the most common type of fic you will come across which is where Danny has been captured by either the GIW or his parents and then is vivisected. Majority of them will have him vivisected by his own parents. Many of them will have them be varying levels of neglectful, from just not noticing things about their kids to straight up forgetting they were there and Jazz having to take care of them both.
In most fanon, the GIW are actively trying to genocide an entire species. This is closest to a canon thing considering that they did try to nuke the GZ, which would have resulted in their universe also collapsing. The things that some people write/draw for the atrocities the GIW and Bad!Fentons are things that I bring up to my therapist frequently. Be prepared for descriptive gore.
There are a few characters that have spawned in fanon that are widely accepted as canon characters now. The main one is Wes Weston along with his brother Kyle. Wes Weston was a background character that we see for about 3 frames in one episode, but he looked similar to Danny and had green eyes and the fandom latched onto that. It started out with someone claiming the A-listers would think that Wes is Phantom because he’s athletic, had the same build and green eyes. From there, the fandom has decided that he also is the only person to figure out that Danny was Phantom and tries frequently to expose him. Kyle Weston is Wes’ older brother, in the same class as Jazz and he doesn’t believe that ghosts are real and is played for gags a lot.
Another major piece of fanon lore is ghost cores. This stems from a remark Frostbite said talking about Danny’s core temperature and the fans took it and ran with it. In fanon there’s all kinds of different types of ghost cores, usually an element or an aspect of existence. Many have Danny possess an ice core, in some he has a space core. Others take his “death” into consideration and believe him to have an electric core. Commonly people have Vlad have a fire core. Usually cores are an orb that a ghost can retreat into to heal. If the core is shattered, the ghost is ended and no longer exists in any capacity.
Similar to cores is obsessions. These are essentially the purpose of the ghost, their drive and purpose. Skulker’s is hunting, Ember’s is recognition etc. Most give Danny a protection obsession, but will sometimes give him a space obsession.
Something that has gained traction in the last few years (to my knowledge mostly since the pandemic) is liminality. Liminality is where people are contaminated with ectoplasm due to overexposure or ingestion of it and it gives them ghostly abilities. Different people have liminality give people different abilities. Some have glowing eyes, lengthened canines and pointed ears. Some have enhanced senses, strength and speed as well as extra durability. Some have eyes that reflect like a cats and night vision. Some even go so far as give them at least one of the major ghostly abilities.
How someone becomes liminal differ depending on if the writer wishes to have it just be main characters or if it’s the entire town. If it’s just main characters then usually their frequent exposure to ghostly things as well as close proximity to it makes them liminal. For the whole town people will usually have the portal give off essentially radiation or when the town was pulled into the GZ be the cause.
Frequently Sam, Tucker and to a lesser extent Jazz are given extra abilities. Sam usually has residual powers from her time possessed by Undergrowth, Tucker usually has some form of techno Nancy and Jazz usually has some sort of empathetic ability, if not that she get’s the basic extra strength, speed, durability and senses.
There are some lesser known ones that should at least be mentioned in case you come across them. One of those being ghost hunger. This is where ghosts or liminals thirst for ectoplasm similar to how vampires thirst for blood. Another common thing is that ghosts socialize by fighting. That most of the fights are ghosts greeting the baby ghost. The last thing is that the main characters are known as Team Phantom.
I’m probably going to think of more later and I’ll post when I do, but this is the basics that I could remember on the fly. I hope this helps people!!

Clone Troopers Masterlist
Tumblr media
A knock on your office brought your attention back to the world around you, and you called for whoever it was to come in. Feeling your lips curl into a smile as Captain Rex stepped through the doorway, you put down your datapad. “What can I do for you on this fine-” a quick turn of your head put the chronometer on your wall in plain view “-evening, Captain?”
“You can go to sleep, that’s what you can do,” he said, and you could see a slightly disappointed look on his face. “How long have you been holed up in here?”
You chose not to answer his question right away, pretending to think when in reality you knew by the amount of ration bar packages on your desk and floor that you’d been sitting in the same spot for over 20 hours. “I don’t know, a while?”
“And that is exactly why you need to get some sleep,” Rex said. “This cannot be good for you.”
“If it isn’t good for me, I guarantee it’s not good for you either then.” Yeah, you had a bad habit of working through meals and not getting enough sleep, but you also knew that he shared the exact same bad habit.
“This isn’t about me,” Rex said. “Don’t try to change the subject.”
You playfully rolled your eyes, this wasn’t an unusual conversation to have. “If I go to bed, you need to go too, because I know you haven’t slept either.”
Rex sighed, but he didn’t try to refute your point. “Fine,” he said. “I’ll walk you to your quarters, and then I’ll go to sleep.”
“Do you promise?” You didn’t know if you believed him, but maybe you could actually get him to take a break if you pushed a little bit.
“Yes, I promise.”
“Good,” you said, straightening up the piles of flimsi on your desk before getting up and throwing the trash you had accumulated in the small can on the other side of the room. You would never admit it out loud, but you secretly loved it when Rex came to visit, because his presence automatically made you feel better.
As you walked the quiet halls of the base side by side, you couldn’t help but sneak little glances at him. The 501st was rarely on Kamino for long, although they did stop by at a higher frequency than some other battalions. You had quickly formed a friendship with many of the men in blue, but the captain was the one you felt the most pull towards. In another world, where there wasn’t a war going on, maybe the two of you could have been more than casual friends, but right now you both had more pressing duties than romance.
As you finally approached your quarters, it seemed like Rex wasn’t going to let you off the hook that easily. “I really don’t like that you sleep so little,” he said.
“I could say the same thing about you,” you said. “I think we both have a problem that’s not being helped by the jobs we’re working.”
The ghost of a smile crossed his face, and his shoulders relaxed slightly. “I think you’re right,” was his response. “And we both need to try to get a little more rest.”
There was a pause, a moment where neither of you spoke, and instead you just held his gaze, not sure what to say. The silence wasn’t awkward, and you felt an invisible force pulling you closer to him.
Right as you opened your mouth to ask him if he wanted to stay and relax for a few minutes in your room, a loud crash echoed through the hallway, which set off the automatic alarm. The two of you shared a look of confusion as the deafening noise blared for a few seconds and then stopped, and whatever moment had been starting to form was already broken between you.
You would never admit it out loud, but that night as you fell asleep, you couldn’t help but think about Rex’s kind eyes and warm smile.
***
It wasn’t for quite a few rotations that you found yourself once again in the company of the 501st, but this time you were on their flagship. Apparently there had been some major mixups with their filing, and the GAR wanted to permanently assign someone to each battalion so that this type of trouble was avoided in the future. You had been overjoyed when you received your assignment.
It was certainly an adjustment, living permanently on the ship and familiarizing yourself with the 501st’s systems and files, but you enjoyed it. And the company was much better than any of the Kaminoans that you had met or worked with before, so you really didn’t miss the rainy conditions back on Tipoca City.
There was one other big plus to this particular assignment: and that was the presence of a certain clone captain, even if he had a slightly annoying habit of forcing you to go to sleep every now and again. But as you spent more time with him on the ship, you couldn’t help the way your feelings grew even more. Every time someone knocked on your door you hoped it would be him, and you treasured every single conversation that you had.
You were currently sitting in the mess hall, picking at some flavorless blocks of ration material while you chatted with Fives, Jesse, and Kix about your day. The 501st had just come off a long and tiring campaign, so the fact that the ship was headed back to Coruscant and not another battle was a major morale booster. Even though you didn’t see any active combat, you still felt pain and worry every single time the men went off to fight, because there was the chance that some of them wouldn’t return.
“You should come to 79’s with us!” Jesse said brightly, pulling you out of your thoughts back to the world in front of you.
“Yeah!” Fives chimed in, smiling brightly. “You said you’ve never been, and it’s the best!”
“I don’t know if she would agree with your statement,” Kix said, not looking up from the datapad he was typing on. “But I do agree that you should go. If nothing else, watching these two on leave is nothing less than entertaining. Last time they got picked up by the Coruscant Guard for speeder racing after we left the bar.”
You couldn’t hold in your laughter at that. “Really?”
“Hey, we weren’t charged!” Fives said, rolling his eyes in the direction of his brother. “Thorn just took us in as a joke!”
“He still called Rex to pick you up, didn’t he?”
Silence settled over the table, which meant Kix was telling the truth (and the others didn’t want to admit it). “Well, at least you’re here to tell the tale, right?” you asked, smiling at the two ARC troopers.
Fives just smiled as Jesse opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by someone else sitting down at the table. “Hey Rex,” you said, unable to completely hide the way your face brightened when you saw him. “How are you doing?”
“Not too bad,” he said warmly, returning the smile you sent him. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for this leave though.”
“You’re coming to 79’s with us, right?” Fives asked. “We’re gonna make sure it’s a good time!”
Something about Fives’ tone must have set off alarm bells in Rex’s mind, because he had a quizzical look on his face. “You go to 79’s every single time we’re on leave, what’s so special about this one?”
“It’s because I’ve never been,” you said, and Rex nodded as you spoke. “Technically I haven’t even agreed to go yet, but I don’t know if I have a choice.”
“You don’t!” Jesse joked. “Come on, it’ll be fun! Captain, you both should come out with us!”
You and Rex shared a look while the others waited for your answer, and eventually you broke down first. “If Rex agrees to it, I’ll go to 79’s with you guys.”
Now the hopeful looks were being directed at the captain, and you knew he couldn’t really say no to them. “Fine,” he said. “I’ll go with you all.”
Happy exclamations were heard from all across the table, and Rex looked like he was about to say something to you when his comm device started to beep. Everyone quieted down as he stepped away and answered it. “Hello?”
You couldn’t hear exactly what was being said, but you recognized the confident tone of General Skywalker on the other end, and soon Rex was nodding goodbye and heading off to whatever he was just called to do. You watched him leave with a small smile on your face, not realizing that the others now might be able to pick up on your certain feelings for their commanding officer.
And thankfully, other than a few raised eyebrows from Fives and Jesse (which you just playfully rolled your eyes at), no one said anything to your face. You just hoped they weren’t secretly scheming to get you and Rex together at the bar, because you didn’t want to potentially jeopardize the friendship you had with him if he didn’t feel the same way about you.
***
79’s was packed and loud, but it possessed a certain charm that made you understand exactly why Fives and Jesse liked it so much. There was a feeling of laughter and light-heartedness in the air (as well as the smell of sweaty troopers, but you tried not to think about that) as you walked over to where the 501st was already seated.
“We got you a drink,” Kix said as you sat down, pushing a glass in your direction.
You smiled at the medic as you picked up the glass and took a sip. “This is good!” you said brightly.
“Yeah, the drinks are good tonight,” Jesse said, already halfway done with his. “They must have just gotten a new shipment of liquor.”
When Rex sat down at the table next to you, there was no way you could ignore the way your heart fluttered. He looked good, having removed the top half of his armor, and you couldn’t help the way you stared at little bit at his muscular frame in his GAR-issued blacks. “Glad you could make it, Captain!” Fives said, passing him a glass of beer. “This is way better than doing paperwork all night, right?”
You and Rex exchanged glances as he answered. “It will be if you don’t get yourself arrested like last time.”
Fives scoffed. “We weren’t charged!”
“And yet I still had to pick you up from the holding cell.”
Fives opened his mouth (clearly to retaliate), but no sound came out, and you tried to hide your laughter by taking another sip of your drink.
“Don’t worry, we don’t ever plan on getting picked up by the Guard again,” Jesse said, and Rex just smiled like he wasn’t sure he believed him. You did believed Jesse when he said he didn’t plan on getting arrested again, but you also didn’t think that would be the last time Rex gets a call to come get his troopers from a holding cell.
The night went on, and the group ended up dispersing a little bit. It was now just you and Rex at the table, and you were glad to get to talk to him without the rest of the 501st around. You loved them all, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like the situation you were in right now.
“Are you glad you were assigned to the 501st?” Rex asked, taking another sip of his third beer of the night. “Or do you miss working on Kamino?”
You paused for a moment before responding. “Other than the friends I made among the other battalions, I don’t really miss Kamino,” you said. “And the 501st certainly makes my life unpredictable.”
Rex laughed. “I feel like I should apologize for that.”
“You absolutely do not,” you said. “It just makes my life more interesting to know that a food fight could break out in the mess hall at any moment.”
“Still, I don’t want you to feel like you’re stuck with us.”
You put down the glass you were holding and looked him right in the eyes. “Rex, I could never feel like that. I love working among the 501st, and I love working with you.”
“Really? That’s the opposite feedback we usually get.”
You laughed. “Rex, I mean it. Unless you’re really trying to get rid of me, then I take back everything nice I’ve ever said about you.”
“I’m definitely not trying to get rid of you,” he said. “I’m just trying to figure out how the 501st got lucky enough to work with someone like you.”
“You guys are pretty great you know.”
“Yeah, but we’re nothing compared to you.”
The two of you were now much closer than you had been at the start of the night, and you were certainly not complaining about it. Your eyes flicked down to his lips for a fleeting moment, and you could have sworn you saw him do the same thing. Your name came out of his mouth, and you nodded in response, breath caught in your throat as your mind came up with all kinds of fantasies about how you wanted these next few moments to go.
“Yes?” you breathed.
“You really think the 501st is great?”
You just smiled. “Why don’t you give me a kiss and I’ll tell you.”
He didn’t need to be told twice, and when his lips landed on yours, you thought this had to be some kind of perfect dream. At that moment, nothing else in the entire galaxy mattered enough for you to care about it. It didn’t matter that you were in the middle of a crowded bar, it didn’t matter that if the rest of the battalion saw you’d be teased for weeks, and it certainly didn’t matter that neither you nor Rex were technically allowed to engage in romantic relationships due to your work with the GAR.
When you pulled apart for air, the two of you stared at each other. “I’ve been wanting to do that for a while,” Rex said. “But every time I made up my mind to say something, I got interrupted.”
“I’ve wanted to do that for a while too,” you said, leaning in to place another quick kiss on his lips. “And I’m still not even sure if I’m dreaming or not right now.”
“Why don’t you kiss me again, just to check?”
A soft snort left your mouth as you playfully rolled your eyes, but you would never turn down an excuse to kiss him.
And little did you know, Kix was sitting up at the bar with a smile on his face and a small pile of credits next to him on the countertop (his winnings from Fives and Jesse). He knew exactly how you and Rex felt about each other, and he also knew how to give you both the slight push you so desperately needed.

Alright, here are my Top Ten funniest guesses (+1 that I bet nobody ELSE will guess) for who Inquisitor Marrok actually is!
You are most welcome to correct me or let me know who YOU think is most probable.
And just to challenge myself, I’m NOT putting Ezra. Because that would be too obvious.
Tumblr media
1. Barriss Offee
I’m serious when I say that this is probably the most likely.
We know that she is a very important character in Ahsoka’s life, the writers could be trying to mislead us into thinking that the Force User is a man when really we have no confirmation that they are. Plus Dave Filoni has said in interviews that he refused to have the character make cameos just because he wanted to save her for later. Also, many people already speculated that Barriss became an Inquisitor after Order 66, explaining the double-sided Inquisitor lightsaber.
Tumblr media
2. Darth Maul
Their build is a little too skinny for Darth Maul, and also wow, he must really be getting up there. And also, he died in Rebels. But when has that really ever stopped Disney from resurrecting him? I just think they should keep bringing him back. For the bit. I want the opening scroll for the upcoming Daisy Ridley movie to contain the words “Somehow, Darth Maul returned…”
Tumblr media
3. Bo Katan
I highly doubt this because her character arc on the Mandalorian is already concluded, but I can kinda see her doing this as like, a side gig. Homegirl is probably broke from paying off Mandalore’s restoration fees. She’s not a Force User unfortunately, but when has that ever stopped her? I like to believe that Bo Katan simply woke up one day and decided to be Force Sensitive and it all kinda worked out for her somehow.
Tumblr media
4. Lux Bonteri
If this is the option David Filoni is going with, BOOO. Yet another character who isn’t Force Sensitive. If you really think about it, Dave Filoni probably wants to include someone with an important history with Ahsoka, someone close to her that she held dear and that betrayed her and that she still has lingering feelings for.
Well actually that person is Barriss, and yknow, she kinda went MIA. Sooo the next best thing we could get is Lux, I guess!
Tumblr media
5. Anakin (Force Ghost)
Daaaad, what are you doing here?
Well, the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Yoda told him to fuck off and get a job. So here he is. He’s putting in the work! He’s logging onto his Zoom! Ahsoka is gonna be sooo surprised when he finally takes off the mask and reveals it was him along. Just you wait! It’s gonna be so funny!
Tumblr media
6. Korkie Kryze
Now we’re really starting to get big brained here.
In Legends, we have Jacen Solo. In the sequels, we have Kylo Ren.
But in the Brand New Republic era? Hark, a new villain arises. Korkie is embittered about being left behind and forgotten by his biological parents, Satine and Obi-Wan. And now he is out for revenge against all the Force Users and Mandalorians who abandoned him. Mwahahaha. We should’ve known he would turn out like this, he’s a ginger after all.
Tumblr media
7. Ventress
This would technically make Dark Disciple non-canon? But I don't think Dave Filoni cares, considering he hilariously made the Ahsoka novel non-canon. Ventress is obviously very powerful and capable of dual-wielding and she would make a great candidate for an Inquisitor. Plus her and Morgan Elsbeth are both former Nightsisters so points for rapport.
Tumblr media
8. Anakin’s Evil Clone
Hey, I mean Palpatine HAD to start somewhere, right? He didn’t just create Snoke without practice. I like to think he tried making a second Anakin at first, only to discover that Clonakin was a huge pain in the ass and doesn’t wanna follow orders just sit on the couch all day eating the space equivalent of Hot Cheetos.
Tumblr media
9. Cal Kestis but he’s evil now
This one pretty much goes against everything we know about Cal but hey, I’ll take a live action Cal cameo any day now. I’ve been on the frontlines defending my babygirl Anakin since day one, don’t even try to lecture me about the ethics of stanning Darksider Cal.
Tumblr media
9. Mara Jade
OK no more messing around!! I'm serious this time!
EVERYONE LISTEN CLOSELY!
I think the reason why Dave hasn't made any references to Eli, or Ar'alani, or Vahnya must be because he grew up on the 80s Legends trilogy (not the canon trilogy). Whenever Thrawn is mentioned, there is a direct reference to Heir to the Empire. The same novel where Mara Jade is introduced as the Hand of the Emperor. Coincidence? I think not! Obviously, this must be part of Dave Filoni's master plan to softlaunch the upcoming top secret Thrawn series adaptation.
Tumblr media
10. Starkiller
My only real proof is that his name (Marek, Marrok) kinda sounds similar?
Making Starkiller canon would create a whole bunch of problems for the Star Wars timeline. I think his origin story is too Mary Sue-y for even Dave Filoni to try and integrate into current canon.
However, it would be interesting to see a showdown between Anakin's two former apprentices. Interesting, but unlikely.
And finally, for my last guess, I will tell you exactly who Marrok REALLY is. Kathleen Kennedy told me personally, so don't get mad at me! She said it, not me!
Tumblr media
11. Luuke (the clone Palpatine made out of Luke's dismembered hand)
This is the ONLY correct answer.
Us Timothy Zahn enjoyers know that this was really Luuke all along. I told you, Snoke isn't the first clone that Palpatine made! I imagine he had a lot of downtime and got bored and decided to fuck around, and that's how we got Luuke.
And yes, I would cast Sebastian Stan to play him because I'm petty AF.

I AM GOING TO THROW UP FROM FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. It’s a little hard to capture in just a handful of panels, but the heart of this issue really rests on Obi-Wan’s relationship with Anakin, in this moment during the Clone Wars, but also as a parallel for their greater relationship. There’s a sandstorm brewing over Tatooine and it’s been howling in the distance for three issues and now it’s finally here.  The vaporators that Obi-Wan has repaired so many times are shattered anew, there’s a cold that dims the warmth of the planet, there’s a darkness descending over him in his home there. All of this sets the mood for the flashback Obi-Wan thinks of, that time he and Anakin were sent on a super top-secret mission to hunt down a rogue agent who has turned to anger and fear and hopelessness, that all that matters to him now is death of anyone he comes across.  Republic clones or Separatists leaders, guilty or innocent people, it doesn’t matter, he cuts down everyone. Obi-Wan speaks to him in philosophical riddles, about how names matter, the names of the people in front of him, the names of his friends, the name of himself.  He reminds Mekedrix of his homeworld and the sunrises there, how life is what gives the sunrise meaning, that it doesn’t just exist in the galaxy, but that life gives it purpose. We don’t know if Mekedrix was really going to kill Obi-Wan or not, if he was just trying to get a reaction, but most likely he was just trying to find a way to end this, to get back to the sunrise.  And it’s Anakin who steps in, who kills him with his lightsaber and he’s devastated by his actions, that the killing still bothers him, especially when he sees that Mekedrix wasn’t serious. Obi-Wan comforts him, “It’s all right, Anakin, you did nothing wrong.  He is home. Let us return ours,” he says with a comforting hand on Anakin’s shoulder, and older Obi-Wan’s narration says, “The light will shine again once the storm passes.” AND I AM GOING TO THROW UP FROM FEELINGS ABOUT ANAKIN SKYWALKER’S JOURNEY AND OBI-WAN’S CARE FOR HIM. That Mekedrix wanted to die (like Vader will want to die), that he killed indiscriminately (like Vader killed indiscriminately), that he was trying to cut down an Obi-Wan who was trying to reach him by giving him philosophical riddles that were meant to give him pause and make him think (like Obi-Wan did for Vader on the Death Star), that Anakin throws himself between someone he loves and the danger to him (like he will do for Luke to save him from Sidious), and how it makes me think of how Lucas said that Obi-Wan and Yoda were the ones to help Anakin become a Force Ghost, that I imagine it went similar to this.  Anakin has done wrong by that point, but he still wants to return to his sunrise, and Obi-Wan is there to put a hand on his shoulder, to say, “Let’s return home.” to him, and Anakin will clutch at Obi-Wan’s hand on his shoulder and have the same expression here.
Tumblr media
The storm will have passed and Anakin’s light will shine once again. This issue is a remix of Obi-Wan’s relationship with the course of Anakin’s life, it’s a kaleidoscope version of what Obi-Wan has experienced already and will experience once he gets to the Death Star. And through it all you can feel Obi-Wan’s sorrow, his bone-deep weariness of death and loss, but also his compassion and hope still shining for the galaxy, you can still feel his love for Anakin Skywalker. This issue is just as much about Anakin Skywalker as it is about Obi-Wan Kenobi, because that’s kind of the point, that you cannot separate Anakin’s story from Obi-Wan’s story when you look at the grand scheme of things.  Nor can you separate Obi-Wan’s compassion and hope for the galaxy from his story, nor his love for Anakin Skywalker from his story.  These are all fundamental elements of who Obi-Wan Kenobi is.

As a kid watching Ninjago, I was just interested in the flashy powers, and the heroics of the main characters, like any kid would. Like, 'Aw these guys are so heroic and selfless and awesome'
But now as an adult, when I recommended my GF the show, I specifically said "This is Family Issues: The Lego Cartoon"
Honestly, Jay likes to complain and hide his upbringing, but he's probably the ONLY ninja with any resemblance of a normal happy childhood and backstory. He has two loving parents who supported him, and was an aspiring inventor.
You could argue Fritz Donegan rectified it, but Jay didn't know this, so how would this affect how is childhood turned out?
At worst, he was dirt poor, living in a junkyard and all, but compared to what the rest of his team went through, I think they'd WANT what Jay had.
Nah, instead most of Jay's trauma and emotional baggage is in the present.
And who else do we have?
We have a robot who didn't even know he was a robot, or had any idea of his identity or memory, so much so that he was just... wandering around the land with amnesia. (Then, you know, everyone thought he was weird)
We have Cole, who grew up in a harsh family background where his dad forced/pressured his kid to be a musician, and canonically suffered depression and bad violence habits after the loss of his mother/during her illness. (Idk about those other Royal Blacksmiths if they are in the family or not, but either way they didn't seem supportive)
Kai and Nya's parents up and vanished from their lives at ages five and three, and they had to raise each other all by themselves with just a blacksmith shop. Basically means they were forced to end their childhoods right there, especially Kai, because older sibling. And there's no indication they had any friends or anyone to help them in their town, at most there was that one lady that they hated, so... ouch.
And... Lloyd.
Just Lloyd.
Half of the show is just Lloyd suffering.
Born as the son of a man forced into an evil oni maniac, said father ditched his entire family.
Mom decided it was a good idea to abandon her kid in a boarding school about villainy. (That's like, the ONE thing I genuinely think the movie did better than the show.)
And that school heavily bullied Lloyd and even exiled him, forcing him on the streets, basically
Everyone hates him and doesn't help him (until Pythor)
Gets tricked by Pythor
Gets kidnapped by Serphantine
Nearly dies in lava
Is given a destiny as the savior of all of Ninjago where he's forced to be on opposite sides of his father, and part of said destiny involves him needing to kill him
AGAINST HIS WILL MIND YOU
Was LITERALLY forced to give up his childhood for this destiny
Was tortured by the Overlord for his golden power
Ice Ninja died
He got his father back, and then he died.
Was possessed by an evil ghost tyrant and was forced to do horrible stuff with no control over himself
Was also physically strained to his limit with that possession
Lost his uncle
Fell in love, and then said crush turns out to be a twist villain who wants to TORTURE him, resurrect his father and steal that fatherly love from him, and have said father try to KILL HIM
Which he was very close to succeeding at
Has to live in hiding for a week thinking all his friends are dead
Twist villain crush dies in a building collapse
That traumatizes him and haunts his trust and empathy towards people for A LONG TIME
Gets cubed in a video game (idk if that counts as trauma)
He's also a dragon oni hybrid, and his oni hide haunts his mind for his entire life, and is terrified to even think of a part of himself
Merge. For weeks he thought all his friends were dead. (Again)
And you know, physical beatdowns from being the Green Ninja, one of the most responsible jobs as the savior of all of Ninjago.
And that is not even everything, I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I didn't mention.
This poor, poor Emo Child.
If this wasn't a Lego show, this would have a Clone Wars tone, I'm convinced.
So yeah, 'Family Issues: The cartoon'.
At least they all have each other. They're a happy found family, and the light in each other's lives. They're here for each other. Their dynamics are precious to me.

Ok so I've seen a lot of dcxdp crossovers where Danny goes feral on someone (mostly superman) who mistreated a clone. But you know another media that has clones who could use a feral Danny fighting for their rights? Star wars that's who.
Ok so the idea I had is that Danny ends up going into a portal in the ghost zone. Maybe after a reveal gone bad or even just cause clockwork said so. But he comes out in the star wars universe sometime during the clone wars near some random jedi. I personally like the idea of it being the arc where they are trying to get supplies through a separatist blockade over ryloth.
So Danny is on this weird new planet when he sees some aliens and decides to follow them while invisible. He sees how they are hungry hurt and tired and sees this different alien and these dudes in white armor protecting these people including what's obviously kids. Now while I think the obsession thing can be interesting if done well.... I don't think it fits this au at least not a protection obsession (plus I love the idea that Danny chose to sacrifice everything he did as a conscious decision and I feel like a protective obsession takes some of the gravity out of that choice.)
So Danny is following them maybe Master Ima-Gun-Di senses him but can't tell where he is and assumes he is a force sensitive twilek. So the time comes where he and his men make their last stand and Danny sees them in real danger and steps in because these alien dudes were clearly protecting people from these creepy droids. Master Gun-Di is clearly surprised by this teen with weird non force based powers (maybe since the force is basically life itself ecto energy is the flip side of the force not dark but part of the universes balance.) Anyway Danny saves these dudes only for them to realize he doesn't speak the language and sends him to the jedi temple.
I like the idea of him spending time with obi-wan (he does not join the Jedi because he doesn't have the force.) I just think they would like snarking at people together. Anyway time passes he gets close to Obi-Wan Anakin and Ahsoka as well as all of the clones. Now this is important Danny did not know they were clones he assumed they were volunteers from a humanoid race that did not have much in the way of physical diversity and hey how's he to know how alien biology works.
So he's with the group and one of the clones mentions that they are disposable or something. Danny give a pep talk about how all the people they have saved are alive and safe because of him and the others volunteering thinking that he just was having a moment from trauma. No the clone meant it literally and explains that they were a clone army bred solely for war. Danny is livid that this is basically an army of slave and demands to know who signed of on this. He gets told it's Palpatine who Danny already does not like (he gets serious fruit loop vibes) so Danny decides he's gonna get these babies rights. (He learned they were aged at an accelerated pace)
Que Danny haunting the senate he harassed everyone who mistreated the clones. Fox and Padmé love this feral bastard. Eventually when it was just the two of them Palpatine who had not realized that Danny was live streaming his latest prank goes full sith lord trying to kill or control Danny who just bodies this wrinkly old man the moment he starts trying to shoot lightning.
Danny saves the Galaxy by being a feral rat boy who exposes the secret shadow ruler who leads both sides of the war. Danny traps Palpatine who gets a official trial. The clones get rights and maybe they wear Dannys logo somewhere on their armor as thanks. And Danny gets to explore the Galaxy and learn about all these wonderful new cultures. (Until he learns that there are slaves in the galaxy which causes the return of the feral boy)

Fic: A man is not dead while his name is still spoken
1,707 words. Set during Rebels, ft. Captain Rex.
A short story, because I refuse to believe that the clones' story - their mistreatment, abuse, betrayal - was allowed to fade into obscurity, until all that was left was three old men hiding out on Seelos. AO3 link here.
Kallus was waiting for them when the Ghost touched down on Yavin IV.
Or rather, waiting for Rex.
“Mothma and Organa are waiting for you, Conference room four,” Kallus muttered to him, as the rest of the squad began off-boarding procedures and checks.
What for?” Hera demanded. Ever the protector “Rex, you need me to come with?”
But Rex waved her off, running a hand over his bald head. “No, it’s alright,” he sighed. “I think I know what it’s about.”
It’s not like it was a secret. The news had even reached the Outer Rim by now. A scandal like this, news travels fast.
But not many people would know what it means to Rex. Organa was perhaps one of the last few to understand.
As the door slid open to the conference room, Mon Mothma and Bail Organa turned to face Rex with a sorrowful expression he’d become far too familiar with over his long years (metaphorically speaking). He hated it. “Senators,” he greeted.
Bail, only there as a full-sized hologram, smiled at him. “Rex, it’s good to see you,” Bail said, in a gentle tone that only served to put Rex more on edge. He didn’t want to have this conversation.
So he cut straight to the point. “I’ve already heard,” he said, perhaps a bit sharper than intended. “They’re playing it on the news in every port. Riyo – Senator Chuchi’s death. What happened?”
“As far as the public is aware, she died of a heart-attack following a particularly stressful debate in the Senate,” Mon Mothma said. “But, there is cause to suspect foul play was involved.”
Rex nodded. “Of course there is. Can we prove it?”
“It’s unlikely,” Bail said. “The press report was issued by Palpatine’s own office, they won’t allow an autopsy to reveal anything, and any dissidents – I’m sorry, Rex. With Riyo’s death, it’s clearer than ever that we are losing our grip in the Senate.”
For most of his life, Rex’s face had been hidden under his bucket, emotions indecipherable. He still hadn’t quite got the hang of schooling his expression. He took a deep breath, and forced his scowl to fade. It wasn’t their fault. Stars knew Bail did all he could. “I see. I… thank you, for thinking of me.”
“Of course,” Bail said, quickly, one translucent hand reaching forward as if the hologram could comfort him. “I know how close you and Riyo were, in the early days.”
“But, Captain, there is something else,” Mon Mothma cut in.
Intrigued against his better judgement, Rex glanced between the two of them. Bail was no longer quite meeting his gaze, and Mon Mothma had clasped her hands behind her back in that way she did before starting an important speech. “Oh?” Rex asked, hesitant.
“Riyo was a vocal component of our campaigning,” Mon Mothma said. “The most vital spokesperson in the senate, in fact. With her gone, we have, as Bail said, lost our hold in the Senate, and any hope we had of passing de-escalation, de-militarisation, and reparation bills has dropped significantly. In fact, we’re taking steps to withdraw key figures to positions of safety.”
“Including myself,” Bail cut in, with a wry smile. “I will be returning to Alderaan on a more permanent basis.”
“And, unfortunately, it means we’re having to abandon some of our current campaigns, even some of our most long-running ones.” Mon Mothma hesitated again. “Including Senator Chuchi’s Clone Rights bill.”
Rex almost laughed. Was this what they were so concerned about? For all Riyo’s efforts, that bill had died a slow and painful death years ago. “I understand, Senator,” he said, hoping Mon Mothma hadn’t yet spent enough time around soldiers to pick up the ‘no shit sir’ undertone.
But Bail raised a hand, as if to ask Rex to wait a moment. “We aren’t happy with this,” he said. “I, personally, cannot allow Riyo’s work to be dismissed so easily, not when she has probably lost her life because of how much she cared. So we were hoping you would help us take this case to an even more ruthless court.”
Rex frowned at him. What other court? All there was, was the Empire. And it wasn’t like the Rebellion had anywhere near enough funds to provide the pensions Riyo had promised.
Bail smiled. “The court of public opinion,” he clarified.
Mon Mothma took over, as if practiced. “We want to share the clone’s story,” she said. “Your story. It is, perhaps, one of the clearest examples of how underhand, how manipulative, how immoral the Empire and Palpatine himself are. It shows how everyone has been played for fools since before the war even started,” she said, passionate, and Rex remembered that Mon Mothma had been a Separatist. “It shows how none of us had a choice, how so many of us died for nothing. You and your brothers most of all. If you – and any of your brothers – would be able to share your story, it could make a huge impact on how the Empire is perceived. It could sway a lot of people.”
Rex took another steadying breath.
She wasn’t wrong.
“My brothers and I,” Rex said, slowly, parsing through his thoughts as he spoke, “Have spent a long time fighting to get out of the eye of the Empire. They gave us their attention once. It wasn’t good.”
Very few people knew the full truth of what the clones has lost, following Order 66. Mon Mothma and Bail at least knew enough to flinch at Rex’s harsh understatement.
“We understand,” Bail said. “I don’t expect you to come to a decision quickly. Take the time you need.”
“But don’t wait too long, Captain,” Mon Mothma said. “The Empire will make everyone forget Riyo Chuchi soon enough.”
Rex stared at her, unsure whether to resent her callousness, or admire the cold practicality. A solider through-and-through, he was leaning towards the latter.
He didn’t say anything else. He couldn’t, thoughts too full of his history, the chance to share it, and Riyo.
Falling back on muscle memory, he saluted, about-turned, and walked from the room.
**
It was Zeb who found him later. “You’re moping,” he said, nudging Rex to shuffle along the crate he was sat on and make room.
Rex sighed. “I’m old. I’ve seen a lot of shit. Sometimes, it requires moping. I’ve earned a good mope every now and then.”
Zeb chuckled. “Yeah, but no one’s allowed to mope alone. Hera’s orders.”
“I’ll be fine Zeb.”
“I know that. Want to take it up with Hera?”
Rex smiled – for a couple of seconds.
Zeb let him sit a silence for a good long while, the lasat instead paying attention to the bowl of food he’d brought with him. Rice dish, a concerning shade of red.
Most of the food was gone before Zeb spoke again. “You want to talk about it?” he asked, through a full mouth.
An easy dismissal sat on tip of Rex’s tongue, but he hesitated. Bail had said he understood, and he might have meant it with all the genuine goodwill in the galaxy, but he didn’t. He couldn’t.
Rex hesitated, before asking, “If you could tell everyone what happened on Lasan – the massacre, the ion disruptor rifles, how you’ve been persecuted and hunted since – would you do it?”
“Yes,” Zeb said, without hesitation, with an air of finality, and through another full mouth.
“Even if you knew it would put a high-priority target on the back of every lasat who survived?”
Zeb’s fork paused halfway to his mouth. He hesitated, then lowered it back to the bowl, swallowing his current mouthful loudly. “Alright,” he said, voice carefully measured, “that’s a bit of a problem, I’ll give you that. Is this a theoretical exercise?”
Rex shrugged. “Not exactly.”
Zeb fell silent again, food abandoned. “I think,” Zeb said, eventually, “that telling the truth is as much about stopping it happening to other planets, other cultures, as much as it’s about getting justice for me an’ mine. I think any lasat who lives is already suffering enough that another target ain’t gonna make that much of a difference. I think any lasat who’s survived this long, can take care of themselves. And I think I’d owe it to all who came before to have their death mean something, not just to me, but to anyone else who’d listen.”
Having said his piece, Zeb took another mouthful of rice and kept eating.
A few more bites in silence later, Zeb swallowed and asked, “Did that help?”
“Yeah,” Rex said. “Yeah, that helped.”
“Good. Now let’s go get you fed, before Hera hunts us down and skins me for wilful neglect of an elder.”
**
Rex went to Mon Mothma’s office early the next morning.
“I can’t promise you anything,” he said, before she could speak, “I can’t even say how many I’ll be able to contact, let alone how many will agree to it. But I’m going to need a bunch of brand-new encrypted channels, and a really long-range transmitter.”
**
**
“I am CT-7567, Captain Rex of the 501st Legion, CO of Torrent Company.”
“CC-36 36, Commander Wolffe of the 104th Wolfpack Battalion.”
“CT-9901, or Sergeant Hunter, CO of Clone Force 99.”
“I am ARC Trooper Echo, formally of the 501st and Clone Force 99.”
“I served as Sergeant Hound in the Coruscant Guard, this is Grizzer.”
“Commander Bly, CC-5052, of the 327th Star Corps, serving under General Aayla Secura.”
“I am CC-2224, Marshal Commander Cody of the 7th Sky Corps, CO of the 212th Attack Battalion, and Second in Command of the Third Systems Army under General Kenobi.”
“You probably think you know all you need to about us. I doubt many of you look at us favourably, these days, if you see any of us at all. You probably think we were loyal soldiers of the Republic, soldiers of the Empire. Some of you might think we were traitors to the Republic cause, who assisted with the Empire’s takeover of the galaxy. Some of you might even think we betrayed the jedi – and I can’t fault you for that.
“But, here’s some things about us you might not know…”

After reading this thoughts of a part two had my mind running from this prompt
Just a heads up this is going to be all over the place, but won't be too difficult to follow just bear with me, I don't usually write down my maladaptive daydream plots ideas
Either Jason ask
"... so what kind of powers am I going to have?"
Or one of the other bat-fam asks
" So, what kind of powers is he going to develop?"
[Got me thinking Danny would respond like]
"Oh that's easy I finally remembered them all, flight, invisibility, (Danny proceeds to list a crazy long list of powers)"
Or
"....Well there's flight, invisibility, ecto energy like ghost ray and force fields(he could even shoot a small one out for example), intangibility, telekinesis, uh.....increased strength and senses like hearing, smell, sight, then there’s ghost sense, overshadowing, hmm.... oh right duplication, I always forget about that one, there's creating portals but Dani and I had a hard time learning that might take you a while, uh.... did I mention ghost wail yet?.....what? (mouth gaping shock)
[Probably depends if Dani is his sister or daughter]
[And depends if she got her own core type or same ice core]
[the response depends on which bat-fam member responds]
"(shocked and asks what's overshadowing but then stops themselves) we'll go back to that one, who's Danny?
"Dani with an 'i', your sister, oh teleportation forgot that one too
"Tele-I have a sister?!?"
"Yeah older sister and aunts(I'm counting Val as an aunt) and [depends on the ship ex: everlasting trio, just Sam or just Val, I’m leaning towards everlasting trio], I have to introduce you to the rest of the family, actually I have to tell the rest of the family first....”
“You didn't tell them about me”
“No, didn't have time to, I came straight here when I sensed you"
[random bat-fam] "Wait, you said Older sister?! When did you have her?!?"
"Huh? Oh no no no she's a clone”
Or
"Who's Danny?..."
"Oh my sister, one of your aunts”
“You guys are both named Danny/Dani? Doesn't that get confusing”
“Its Dani with an “i” or Elle, short for Danielle and she’s my clone so we make a joke out of it”
"You've been cloned?!?
"Yeah, by my ex evil Godfather... well that's another story, actually he might be able to help you with your duplication better than me when we get there
Oh and Dani has a different core so she doesn't have my full kit, you might develop a different core too, but the base powers won't be different"
[This could either be bad parents or good parents]
But if its good I imagine Maddie and Jack spoiling him with weapons aka ecoto guns
...... writing this I just remembered how Jason even came to be because they kicked Danny out......
Well damn, well Danny could make him guns
Honestly I just see the family trying to spoil him rotten
I would like for him to stick with calling Bruce Dad though he can call Danny GD like in “ The curious case of D. Grayson” for Ghost Dad
And if it's Pharoah tuck and undergrowth Sam
Val could be a ghost zone hunter or a ghost zone bounty hunter/infinite realm bounty hunter
They could be uncle tuck/uncle pharaoh tuck.... aunt Sam and aunt Val/aunt V
don't know what he would call them if its everlasting trio
[Since Danny was 14 when Dani was made, 18 when Jason was born, he how old would he now if Jason became red hood when he was 18-19]
I'll make him 19y for a red hood vigilante foundation, kinda want to make him older but I'll just figure out the math and add on in my mind if I want him older in my daydreams
So Danny would be 37 along with Sam/Tuck/Val
Jazz is 2y+ than Danny so she'll be 39
Danny stop aging at 25
Id say both Sam and Tucker stopped aging like 2-3 years after 25 when they fully took in their liminality powers?  Now they're just waiting to die or something, got no clue i just need them to either die and revert or stop aging
What if Danny faked his death and is just waiting for them to die
Or he's just shapeshifting to appear like he's growing older but still waiting for them so he can dip from the mortal realm
I disagree with my previous thoughts now, I still want him and everyone else to have a human identity as long as possible, he could have a bunch of degrees with a job at Nasa or something
Wait…. How old would Bruce be?
So Bruce was 34y when he met Jason at 12y
22y years older than him would make him 41y, not that much older than Jazz and Danny at all especially Jazz, maybe they could be friends [Just friends.] she can help with his family connection problems or something
I high key want Jason to be small boy robin in his ghost form, but i want Danny and Dani to look older, so that would put on the possibility of him being able to change his form to look older
No wait I like it, they all still look the same age they died/were created
No wait….then he’ll appear older than both of them..., I'm just not going to think about this right now
Well at least they're tall as freaks in their human forms, which explains why Jason is the tallest bat sibling, but still shorter than all three Jazz, Danny and Dani
OP daddy Danny
... I got carried away again

A GLITCH IN TIME SPOILERS!!
So yesterday i was rambling to my friends about the graphic novel since I didn't want to spoiler anyone at first(i didn't know how to do the spoiler text here yet, I do now)
A list below of stuff from the novel
Quick note I've been refering to Dark Danny/Dan as "Full Phantom" or F.Phantom because of how adamant he was about not being called Danny, Hope this clears uo any confusion while reading this!
Heres a list I made of things that I personally feel like can be added onto for a new plot n stuff
This is copy pasted from discord abdbwn
Feel free to add onto this list! Its vv possible we missed out on some stuff
1. THE WHOLE UNITE THE GHOST ZONE AND HUMAN REALM??? ALSO PROTECTER OF HUMANS *AND* GHOSTS??? THATS A WHOLE SERIES PLOT RIGHT THERE
2. Movement from ghost hunters to ghost helpers, and trying to convince the town to do the same? absolutely series material right there, this is an amazing set up frfr
3. Vlad and Full Phantom(he doesn't like the name danny and expresses that alot in the comic), Vlad is now in charge of him??? also hes in a clone's body now which holy fuck?? like theres no way danny and f.phantom aren't gonna cross paths again
4. Vlad's redemption, He wants to be a better person now and that's evident throughout the novel, this isn't really without closure but they have all the ability to make a proper redemption arc, and give he and danny an arc to reconcile SOMETHING I LOVE IS HOW DANNY STILL HATES HIM EVEN THO HE WANTS TO CHANGE, ITS REALISTIC AND ISNT FORCING FORGIVENESS)
5. VALARIE. We now have 2 valaries, og valarie living outside of time, and clearly knows something's up with clockworks medallion, theres also 90% chance that she saw the interaction with team phantom and clockwork too, new villain arc(although i desperately want her to have an arc where she actually reconciles with danny)
6. Clockwork said he feels weaker, thats probably not gonna be wrapped up but i think its something they can definitely use for something

-----
"Have you heard from Vlad at all?"
Jack followed Maddie out of their bedroom and shut the door behind him. "Why would Vlad say anything to me?"
"He said he'd send a text when he finalized all the configurations for the new Danielle clones." Maddie looked at her blank phone screen. "I guess I'm just excited."
Jack's shoulders fell. He did not want to think about the new set of clones Maddie had ordered from Vlad.
They walked down the hall, past Danny's and Jazz's bedroom doors.
"Danny's home already," remarked Maddie as she held up an ecto-scanner. Danny's ecto-signature appeared in two locations on the screen, one in his bedroom and the other in the basement lab. "That's good, he really needs to get a good night's sleep. He's been going through a lot lately."
Jack held his tongue, knowing it was no use to remind her that she was the one orchestrating almost everything that had been happening to their son.
Down in the lab, clone 26 was lying on the main examination table right where they had left him earlier, wearing a hospital gown with his wrists and ankles secured in belted restraints. The clone stirred and groggily opened his eyes as Maddie approached. Jack hung back as he usually did. He hated this part, when the clone begged to be freed and Maddie told him no, no, he had to stay here and die.
The clone's eyes widened as Maddie hovered over him, her hood down and goggles up on top of her head. The clone began pulling against the belts, throwing his head wildly as he lifted his upper body off the table as far as he could. Maddie pressed one hand to his chest, forcing him back down.
"Sweetie, calm down," said Maddie, her voice hushed. "I know you're very confused and scared right now, but you're just going to hurt yourself if you struggle."
"What do you mean? What's going on?" The clone's breathing was erratic. "Why am I here? Mom? How did I get here?"
"We have a couple procedures planned for you tonight," said Maddie. "Just a couple, don't worry. Then we'll let you rest until tomorrow night."
The clone stared at her, all fight stopped for the moment. "Procedures?"
"Yes," said Maddie. "Because you're a ghost hybrid, and there is so much more about you that we want to learn."
The clone's eyes widened with shock and panic, as they always did. "You know I'm a ghost?"
"We do," said Maddie, taking the clone's hand in hers.
The clone's gaze moved to Jack. Jack looked away, squeezing and massaging his jaw with one hand.
"What are you going to do to me?" asked the clone, struggling more against the belts. "Why have you brought me here? You know I'm your son, don't you?"
"No, you're not," said Maddie.
The clone froze up. "I am. You know I am."
"No, honey, you're a clone," said Maddie, brushing his bangs out of his eyes. "You're a nearly perfect clone of our son."
The clone stared at her in dumbfounded silence.
"We're going to tell you the truth before we start tonight's work," said Maddie. "You can ask any questions, and we'll answer them. You deserve that much, at least."
Jack grimaced. He hated when she included him like that, using the word "we" when he didn't want to be here at all. At this point, the only reason he continued to join Maddie in this cruel line of experimentation was to ensure she didn't take it too far.
Or at least, that was what he kept telling himself.
"The truth about what?" asked the clone.
"Your ghost powers," said Maddie. "The reason you're a ghost hybrid is because we configured the ghost portal to rearrange the molecular structure of your DNA."
"What—no, you wouldn't do that." The clone fiercely shook his head.
"We had to," said Maddie, her tone soothing. "You had the right DNA that could be stabilized after an ectoplasmic mutation. We tried looking for others, but you were the only one. We had no choice."
"No choice?" spat the clone. "Why did you need to turn me into a ghost at all?"
"For our research, sweetie. You know how crucial our research is."
"Crucial for what? How is this going to help anyone?"
"Oh, so many ways! Health care applications for improved surgery that uses invisibility instead of invasive scopes and expensive MRIs and CT scans, intangibility instead of incisions that can get infected. Military applications for super soldiers enhanced with ghost powers—"
"You can't be serious," said the clone. "You're experimenting on your own son so you can find ways to sell ghost powers to other people?"
"You are not our son," said Maddie. "You remember how Vlad attempted to clone you and created Danielle, right? Well, he didn't actually fail. We asked him to clone Danny so we could experiment on his clones without harming the real Danny." Maddie ruffled the clone's hair. "You are one of those clones, sweetheart."
The clone jerked his head away. "I'm not a clone."
"I know you don't believe it. You're not supposed to believe it," said Maddie. "You're supposed to believe you're the real Danny. That's the only way we can get the most accurate data for our research. And you want to help us with our research, don't you?"
"I'm not a clone." The clone shook his head. "Let me go, let me leave."
"We can't do that," said Maddie. "There can only be one Danny. You have to stay here, and you can't leave."
"I'm Danny," the clone insisted with tears in his eyes. "I am your son."
"Danny is upstairs in his room." Maddie pointed to the ceiling. "You're down here in the lab because you're his clone."
"No, you're wrong," said the clone. "I'm not upstairs. I'm here with you. I've always lived in this house with you."
"Sweetie, those memories you have of living here before today aren't real," said Maddie. "You didn't exist until this morning. You had never been to this house before until this afternoon when Vlad brought you here."
"They're real memories," asserted the clone. "I was hanging out with Dad in the lab earlier today when he showed me the Ecto-Dejecto."
Jack's brow creased. Yes, he did indeed show Danny the Ecto-Dejecto that very day so he could later use it to stabilize Danielle, but it was impossible for the clone to know that. The last time Vlad took an updated DNA sample from Danny was over a month ago. The clone's last memories should not and could not be this recent.
A sinking weight dropped deep into Jack's gut as he stared at the clone, noticing for the first time a scar right behind his ear, the same scar Danny had. But the clones were supposed to have unblemished skin, untouched and new.
The clone continued speaking, "And then I went to hang out with Sam and Tucker—"
"No, sweetie," said Maddie. "Those memories you have aren't real. The only reason you have them is because you're an almost perfect copy of the real Danny, including his memories."
"I am the real Danny."
"No, you're not."
"How can you say that? How can you know that for sure?"
The clone's expression was angry, something Jack had never seen before. The clones were usually frightened or hurt, not angry.
"How do you know I'm not the real Danny?" demanded the clone.
"Because of the tattoo on your arm," said Maddie. "Here, let me show you."
Maddie pulled up the right sleeve of the clone's hospital gown, just as she had done twenty-five times before. But there was nothing but skin, no tattooed 26 on the clone's upper arm that Jack definitely remembered seeing when Vlad first delivered the clone.
All blood drained from Jack's face as Maddie screamed and jumped back, her hand clamped over her mouth. Danny's angry expression broke into a wicked smile.
"I told you I was the real Danny," he said.
Maddie's other hand shot up over her mouth as she shook her head furiously. Jack was frozen in place, unable even to tremble.
Danny sat up, slipping out of all four belt restraints and jumping off the table onto the floor. He changed into his ghost form, black and white jumpsuit replacing the hospital gown.
"Did you really think I wouldn't figure it out?" he asked. "Did you really think you could make Vlad clone me twenty-six times and I would just never know?"
He started walking toward Maddie with slow steps. Maddie stepped back each time, still covering her mouth as she watched him come closer.
"Did you think I was too stupid to figure it out?" Danny paused, chuckling darkly. "I guess maybe you're right. I guess I was too stupid to figure it out. You were able to experiment on me and torture me and—and kill me twenty-five times and I was too stupid to realize it until now."
Maddie cowered, hunching her shoulders and covering more of her face with her hands.
"And you were going to kill me a twenty-sixth time tonight," yelled Danny. "And you—" He turned to Jack with a snarl. "You were just going to stand there and let her."
Jack held up his shaking hands in defense, but he could not think of a good reply. He could only meet Danny's hate-filled eyes, trying to somehow communicate just how sorry he was.
"You and Vlad both," muttered Danny. "You'll both just do anything for her, won't you? You'll even kill for her."
"Danny," Maddie gasped out. "Danny, listen, I'm sorry—"
"No, you're not sorry," roared Danny, turning and pointing an accusatory finger at her. "Don't say you're sorry. If you were sorry, you would've stopped a long time ago." He choked, his voice losing strength as he stifled a sob. "If you really cared about me—" He sucked in a deep breath. "If you really loved me, you would've never done this."
"Danny, I do love you." Maddie clasped her hands as tears streamed down her face. "So much."
"How can you say that?" demanded Danny. "How can you look me in the eyes after everything you've done to me and say that?"
His fists glowed with ectoplasmic light as he stomped toward Maddie, backing her up against a wall. Maddie whimpered and curled in on herself.
Jack stared at her, frozen with shock.
She was scared.
He had never seen her look so scared before. In fact, he wasn't sure he had ever seen her show any sign of fear at all.
And Jack realized he was also afraid, because Danny could very easily kill both of them right now and they would be powerless against him.
His gut sank and twisted with the horror of what they had turned their son into.
"Danny, please," bleated Maddie. "I'm your mother."
"You're right, you are my mother." Tears began falling down Danny's face. "Which is why I can't believe you would do this to me. My life has been hell ever since I became—this." He used one gloved hand to gesture to himself, top to bottom. "Fighting ghosts, protecting the town—it's been painful and terrifying and exhausting."
Danny's tears were coming fast and hot now. Maddie continued to whimper while Jack stayed still.
"But I kept doing it because…I thought I had to," continued Danny. "I thought it was my fault that all of these ghosts were coming in through the portal and invading our town. But now I find out that…you did this to me. It was never my fault; you set me up to do it. You wanted me to do it—you were counting on me to do it."
Danny sobbed, covering his eyes with his hands as his body shook. Maddie looked at Jack, begging him for help. But Jack could only stare back.
"This whole time." Danny uncovered his eyes now swollen with ectoplasm. "You've been pulling strings, watching me like I'm a marionette in your sick puppet show. And you made me afraid of you. You pretended to hunt me down and you would actually shoot at me so I would believe that I really was a freak and I could never trust anyone with my secret."
Danny lowered his eyes, his face drenched with tears.
"You made me believe that I couldn't trust you, my own parents," he whispered. He then raised his eyes, which flashed green. "But I guess I was right about that after all, wasn't I?"
He came close to Maddie, raising both of his glowing fists. Maddie pressed her back to the wall and held up her hands in front of her face.
"Are you going to kill me?" blubbered Maddie.
Danny stared at her for a long, long time.
Then his fists opened, their green glow disappearing as his whole body relaxed.
"No," he said with a soft shake of his head. "Of course not. Because you are my mother."
Danny glanced up at the ceiling, more tears glistening on the lower edge of his eyes. He sniffled and brought his gaze back down to Maddie.
"I hate that my own mother could do this to me," Danny continued, his words strangled, "but I can't hurt you. Obviously you're more than willing to hurt me, but…I can't." His eyes hardened. "But I'm not letting you hurt me ever again. Whether it's the real me or a clone of me, I won't allow it."
Danny looked up at the ceiling again, but this time in a very particular direction, up toward his room. Jack took notice of the look, and he could see Maddie also noticed, her brows drawing together in scrutiny.
"Where is the clone?" Maddie's voice was suddenly much stronger as she straightened her back and stood taller. "Clone 26, where is he?"
Danny's eyes once again returned to her. He frowned but did not reply.
"Vlad delivered him this afternoon," said Maddie. "I saw the tattoo on his arm with my own eyes. Where is he now?"
Danny stiffened. "You don't need to know that."
"I do," said Maddie. "You won't let us experiment on any more clones, fine. We'll stop. But that clone cannot be allowed to exist."
Danny's eyes twitched, his jaw clenching.
"We have to kill him, Danny," said Maddie.
"No," said Danny with a firm shake of his head. "You are not going anywhere near him."
"We can't let a clone of you run around freely, Danny," said Maddie. "People would notice. How would we even explain that? It would only be a matter of time before the police or the Guys in White figure out that you're a ghost hybrid, and then you'd be taken away for far worse experimentation."
"Don't pretend like you care about what happens to me," spat Danny. "You just don't want them to find out what you've been doing."
"You know I'm right," retorted Maddie. "There can't be two of you."
"Then kill me." Danny held out his arms in offering. "Do it."
Maddie's mouth fell open. "Danny—no, I'm not going to kill you."
"Why not?" asked Danny. "If only one Danny is allowed to exist, then why does it have to be me?"
"Because you are Danny. The clone is no one."
"But isn't the clone a perfect copy of me? With all my memories?"
"Most, not all of them."
"He's good enough, isn't he?"
Danny glared at Maddie, still holding his arms out, ready and waiting for her to come at him. Maddie did not move, simply stared back in tense silence. Jack watched, wondering for a moment if she might actually do it, if she might actually grab an ecto-gun and blast a hole through Danny's chest.
Jack was ready to throw himself in front of Danny if she tried.
"The clone must die, Danny," said Maddie. "That's why he was created. That's his purpose."
"So now you think you can just assign people purposes?" asked Danny. "Does this sick little game make you feel like God?" Danny pressed a palm to his chest. "What's my purpose, Mom? Have I been giving you everything you wanted? Or am I a failed experiment now?"
Maddie narrowed her eyes. "The clone has to die, Danny."
Danny shook his head. "No."
"Danny."
"No."
Danny shot up into the air, soaring straight through the lab ceiling and disappearing. Maddie bolted toward the stairs to follow him.
"Maddie." Jack grabbed her arm before she could get too far up the stairs, forcing her to stumble back down onto the main floor.
"Jack." Maddie struggled in his grip. "Let me go, Jack."
Jack kept a tight hold on her, using all his strength to keep her from getting away. "Maddie, what are you planning on doing?"
"We have to kill the clone, Jack," said Maddie, sounding panicked. "We can't let Danny help him escape."
"But why? Why do we have to kill the clone?" asked Jack.
Maddie glared at him. "You know why. I shouldn't have to explain this to you."
"Maddie." Jack took hold of her other arm and forced her to face him. "But maybe we shouldn't, Maddie."
Maddie stopped struggling and became still, unblinking.
"Maybe we shouldn't kill the clone?" said Maddie. "Are you saying we should kill the real Danny? Like he asked us to? Remove the clone's tattoo and just rewrite our son with a copy?"
Jack balked and slacked his grip on her arms, but she did not try to break away.
"The clone's earliest memories will be from a few weeks ago." Maddie nodded as she spoke. "Clone 26 won't remember any of this. We could continue our experiments and Vlad could continue creating new clones and we'd just have to be more careful and watch the new Danny a lot more closely, make sure he never discovers the truth again—"
"Would you listen to yourself?" Jack shouted in her face. "Are you fucking insane? We are not going to kill the real Danny just so you can keep fucking with his clones."
He shook her, causing her head to snap back, her eyes wide as she stared up at him, frozen.
"It's over, Maddie," yelled Jack. "It has to be over now."
Maddie stayed frozen a little longer. Jack waited for her to move, to respond in some way, never letting go of her arms.
"You're right," murmured Maddie. "He's my baby. I carried him inside of me—he was part of me for nine months. The clone was never part of me no matter how much he looks and acts like the real Danny. I can't kill my boy, never."
She started crying. Jack felt a twinge, a strange urge to comfort her even though he knew she didn't deserve it.
"But the clone still has to die, Jack." Maddie used the heel of her hand to wipe her eyes and locked her gaze with Jack's. "And you know it."
Jack stared back at her, the scientist inside of him activating. Because as much as he hated to admit it, he did know it. The clone was an abomination, an affront to the natural order, an entity that was never supposed to exist in the first place.
And Danny himself would be in danger of being discovered and taken away if the clone was allowed to exist as its own person.
Yes, the clone did have to die. It was the only way to protect the real Danny.
And the only way to stay out of prison.
Jack loosened his hold on Maddie and watched as she ran up the stairs, numb and empty.
And then he breathed deep and ran up after her.
Just one last time. One final murder.

My Bad Batch Musings
Sooo...after that scintillating Episode 9 with the resurrection of one of my fave SW antiheros, Ventress, we're heading into the final 6 episodes. Now my brain is busy processing all that's happened and pondering what will come before the curtain falls. No doubt the Lucasfilm team will be feasting on our fan tears with at least a few painful losses.
One thing that definitely comes to mind is that particular "filler" episode that featured the Batch dealing with the almost unstoppable Zillo beast. Said beast is almost assuredly somewhere in Hemlock's lair and methinks it will somehow get loose when the Batch and their allies come to break their clone brothers out:
Tumblr media
Such chaos that would ensue ups the odds that at least some of our heroes will escape. Maybe even Omega will be able to talk to it a bit via the Force to keep it from digesting her and her brothers in the process.
Some other things that could possibly happen by finale 's end are:
Tech is alive in Hemlock's lair, maybe the Batch finds him in one of the experimental labs. Tech also has the potential to be the CX shadow warrior, but I'm rather suspecting that's Cody instead. I'm pretty sure the CX is one or the other, but I believe the writers said that had something special lined up for Cody, so having him be brainwashed into a CX would certainly hurt Rex to the core.
I'm 99% sure that Hunter is going to die by sacrificing himself to save the rest of the Batch and Omega. After all, he's the leader, the main mentor to Omega, and oh how does Star Wars love to kill off the lead mentor character so the "mentee can grow."
There are not enough episodes left to be killing off other Batch members and give the audience enough time to process it. In Rebels, they killed off Kanan but no one else from the Ghost crew. We lost Gregor as well, but he was already a shell of himself at that point. Perhaps what happens in this last part of the series will set the stage for Gregor to start losing his mental stability.
There is no way they will kill off Omega (or her sharkpuppy, Batcher). Omega could go into hiding with Ventress and be part of the Path to help other Force-sensitive refugees and/or assist Rex with helping cast off clone soldiers in need. Because Omega is not mentioned in any existing canon yet as far as having much impact as a Force wielder (plus she's so devoted to the clones), it seems most likely she'll continue to support the clones however she can in all the aftermath.
I do think Hemlock will die or at least be set back very far in his research in the attack . After all, when we see Palpatine in the Sequel Trilogy, he doesn't look like he's in a younger cloned body, he looks like he's still his original, broken, body and it's being held together with machinery and probably blood/plasma pumped into him that has the M's he needs to stay on the brink of life. In this regard, everything the Batch has sacrificed to stall the genetics research and rescue their brothers from the prison will be evident.
I know we're getting more of Cad Bane and I won't be surprised if Fennec makes another appearance. Who know what other cameos might be in store, but I believe they will only appear if it makes logical sense for them to do so. For example, I would like to see Cid the traitor reappear in the picture and redeem herself somehow. We've also had reappearances of the Devaronians earlier this season so they could come into play in some fashion as the Batch and Rex call upon whomever they can in the planned attack on Tantiss. Maybe Saw Gerrera returns for this assault as well?
In the end, I am feeling confident there will be a major victory for Omega and her team, but it will come at a high price. For now, looking forward to chewing my fingernails during Identity Crisis this Wednesday!!

Cody-Centric Fic Recs
Name of the Game - esama
There's a new Dark Sider on the battlefield, one who has it out for Cody's General.

Of Warnings (Ignored) - Trixree
“Listen to me, Kote. Are you listening? Because it is very fucking important that you listen to me right now,” 17 says. He would seize Kote by the chin and make him pay attention, if 17 was looking to get bit on top of all the other pain his body is gifting him with.

Bonding Rituals - blackkat
Cody smirks, tilting his head. “Sounds like Fox has a date,” he says, and Rex is suddenly, vividly reminded of the fact that Cody and Fox are batchmates. Something must have gone wrong with the cloning process there, because that much asshole in one batch should be physically improbable. For a moment, he almost feels sorry for Fox.
Then he remembers that Fox yelled at Fives last time they ran into each other during an escort mission on the front, and decides that he actually doesn’t.

sunshine and the shade of poetry - Petrichordiam
"Sorry sir, but I don't think we've met," Cody said, turning up the friendly customer service representative levels by two points.
To his delight, there wasn't really any visible change in his general's expression. "Have I neglected to leave an impression on you over the last several years?"
"I'm not sure you want an honest answer to that question, sir."
===== The war comes to an abrupt end, and everyone around him begins the long road to recovery and discovery. Cody, on the other hand, just needs to find a new job.
Unfortunately, he has no idea what to do next.

girlboss, gatekeep - deniigiq
Captain Gregor immediately leans his chin on his palm and smiles at Fives. Fives smiles back. He does not perceive this action to be the threat that it truly is.
“That man’s going to kill him,” Jesse says with his neck craned as far as it will go.
“Yep,” Kix agrees solemnly.
“You never know,” Echo says. “He’s squeezed better outcomes out of worse odds.”
(Fives decides that he's going to join the illustrious, mysterious, and oh-so exclusive Commanders Batch, and he's going to start by becoming besties with Commander Cody. Rex cannot stop this trainwreck but he can certainly watch it happen in slow motion - and occasionally he can offer a word or two of advice.)

Retired Commander Cody moves into a new neighborhood and becomes furious at the way a nearby roundabout is treated as a dumpsite. He installs a giant Jedi Crest fountain dead in the center of it and accidentally creates a safe place for the diasporic Jedi community to worship.

the time when stars align - qigiined
Lord Vader stands before Cody with a ruined body and asks him between puffing, hissing breaths, how he has found the latest therapy.
Cody explodes.
Never before did he realize how hopeful he was that he would soon die. Never before has he felt so helpless. The only natural process he could depend on has been snatched from his fingers. He is again a young man. His accelerated aging factor has been ‘cured.’
