My therapist suggested I write a letter to my younger self so here it is 

“Dear Me,

I know your world is scarily and confusingly devastating right now. You have no where to turn to, no where to run, no safe haven, and our stepmother is full of hatred. You feel like it is your fault, that there must be something you did that made your parents incapable of loving you, but the truth is they were incapable of being parents. But brighter days are ahead, and you will take back your life. You will move away from home much younger than normal, you put your feet underneath you, and you walk away from it. From every heartbreaking moment. The cold silence, the isolation, the insults, the humiliation, the shame; you leave it all behind you. You are happy and slowly healing. It takes time, as the years of blows shattered you into a tiny million pieces, but the pieces that are lost bloom into someone new. You are smart, you are strong, you are beautiful, and you are worthy of love. You are worthy of being loved; they are just not worthy of loving you.
