warning: kinda sad ANGST, Simon losses you :( , ooc kinda?? But he's soft for you only, trust me bro
This was kinda inspired by that one part in the comics where our poor, Si holds his mums skull, n he jus'... Kinda nuzzles into it. I dunno it just bought on some sad feeling, mkay...
Simon who slightly raises the cup of tea he's drinking each time he has one, just to let you know he's relaxing. Or trying his best too, at least. Doesn't know what he'll do if he worried you from beyond the grave. Sometimes he looks at all the belongings you left behind. Saying how they probably miss you, but not nearly as much as he does.
Unlike some, Simon uses your things. He doesn't want the house to go through the pain of loosing you too. So he drinks from your mug, and sits on your chair. Reads your favorite books, but never takes out the book marks in case you want to continue reading them. He also completes your bucket list for you, and even though he's the one doing them he always whispers 'good job, to the wind, hoping they'll carry the messenge to you.
Simon who speaks to your framed pictures. He remembers each, and every memory behind them. "Bet your happy... Now it'll always be my turn to grab the 'bloody groceries.." he jests. He hopes that one made you laugh. Knowing you, you would've. It's a mystery how you always laughed at his lame jokes. Though your laugh's always been better than the awful punchlines.
Simon who passes by that cafe you bugged him to go with you to, and he feels his throat go dry. He never got to take you there because of a sudden call from Price, telling him about an urgent, albeit sudden, mission. He definitely regrets not taking you out on dates more often. There's so many shops opening that he knows you would've loved to see.
Simon who's heart breaks at how quickly the world turns without you. Everything's moving so quickly, leaving him behind like it's already moved on, and he hates it. He hates how there's less clothes to fold now. Food is served, but only for one. The taste of it is flavorless, and dry. It's times like these, that he wishes he should have took the time and learn your recipes.
But what's worse, is that your side of the bed is cold. And it'll remain that way forever. At times he'll reach for you absentmindedly. Nightmares about war traded for dreams about you, but during those dreamless nights where sleep doesn't visit he'll stroke your pillow the same way he'd do to keep your hair out of your face, and pull the covers over the empty space you once occupied. He wonders if it's cold where you are right now. But just know that he's always willing to warm you up if ever you come back.
Simon who...
Stands at the doorway. Bag slinged over his shoulder, full of everything he needs and more for deployment. He knows he can't leave without properly saying goodbye, so he fishes out his wallet, and digs out a picture of you. He holds it up to his face, and it's funny. How you're not even staring at the camera when the photo was taken. No, you were staring at him. This one's always been his favorite. So he clears his throat, and wishes you don't hear the slight shake in his tone.
"..By now you would've told me to be careful.. And I will, by the way. But, m' sorry for all the times I didn't...'
....
" I have to go now. Don't need them gettin' on my ass for 'being late.. so.."
....
"..You just rest now, ok, love? There's nothing else for you to worry about' anymore. I love you, always. Wish me, and the boys luck, yeah?.."
He gives a light kiss to your photo, and it's as if you're with him when he steps outside the door..
a/n: This was a challenge to write, and I don't know what to feel about the results. I'm just polishing my english, I guess. M'not good at writing angst, you can probably tell, also my grammar feels off on this one, again. English isn't my first language, sorry. So please correct me on any mistakes I've made! But putting all that aside, I hope you like this more than I do! And, always remember that you are loved, and cared for! Have an amazing day, my darlings!
Yours, truly,
–dolly

Batman #105
I know bruce is just being a petty brat as usual but also... I bet this question has been underlying a lot of their interactions in the last few years. At some point, khoa's obsession with chasing bruce around the world to force him into fights stopped being about simply proving that he's a better vigilante and started being also a way to check if he changed his mind and if not, if he could be convinced
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #103
and all of this culminates in this moment in argentina, when he finally manages to get over his pride enough to make his proposal - but not enough to admit why he's making it. Why is his problem if bruce dies fighting his war on crime - if and why he cares about him.
I just love the way these flashbacks scenes manage to convey how much their time together had an impact on khoa - him being the one to propose to bruce that they work together was such a huge fucking deal. I love how you can see that he had to get over a shit ton of stuff to finally decide to make the proposal literally at the last minute - but you can also see it was not enough. And not even just bc of him not admitting his feelings - later when you find out about his backstory it only gets worse. 'Cause yk what? He really did have a chance.
By the time we get to argentina, he had already managed (somehow begrudgingly) to get over most of his problems with bruce's mission and his promise to his parents, bc he is willing to compromise - to a certain point. He say's, "We'll start in a small city in southast Asia, and systematically dismantle it's criminal underworld (...) And then we'll go to the next, and the next. (...) In time, maybe we could even tackle a city like Gotham."
But why start in a "small city in southast Asia", specifically? They travelled the whole world. Couldn't it be any small city, anywhere? Does it make any difference where they start?
My bet is that actually it does. The Midas Empire is from the south east asia. We know from dick that ghostmaker operates mostly in south east asia. He's about to spend a good part of his career working to dismantle the Midas Empire, his biggest challenge and his main motivation for becoming a vigilante, so he had to start there. What he's actually proposing to bruce here is that they work together to reach khoa's goal, one that will take years for them to acomplish, and by the time they finish it, they'll be so fucking good and have so many resources that they'll finally be able to start working on the gotham problem and make sure that bruce also reaches his goal (tho i'm sure he would be delighted if bruce just changed his mind until then). But he won't even tell bruce that.
And sure, there are other problems, bc they don't actually agree on their methods to save any city, even if it's not gotham (and it's not really just a matter of not agreeing about the murder stuff, tho dc writers have been writing khoa and bruce's conflict focusing just on that aspect since tynion left the chat) but you can't tell me things would've happened the same way had bruce known all of this. He throws some pretty harsh words at khoa to make him leave him alone and almost immediately kinda regrets it; most of it comes from the fact that bruce has spent years trying to find proof that khoa's cares about anything (about him!) and having khoa denying it repeatedly, sometimes hurting other people to prove his point (if this sounds like a lot of bruce's other relationships, part of it is bc he has a type and part is bc he has a big heart full of hope, mind you). By the time argentina happens, khoa has almost managed to convince him he's right (he might even be fully convinced at the time, tho we know he must have changed his mind later when he tries to mend things with khoa asking him to join batman inc. the first time).
He might not have accepted khoa's offer anyway even if he knew all of this... and I wouldn't go so far as saying their relationship would've been any better than it was.... but bruce might not have burned the bridge between them that day. Bruce might never had said "You're sick. There's a part of you that's broken and you're angry that it's not broken in me". Their divorce could have been more amicable. It might not have lasted 20 years.
Just imagine, a batman story where everything is the same, except he and ghostmaker text regularly and even get to work together every once in a while over the years (much to dick's distress). You can't, because khoa never tells bruce shit unless it's some highly encrypted stuff that might impliy something if you look at it in a certain angle through rose colored lenses under a full moon in july.

Ok I'm gonna request something! Put it at the back of your list or feel free to ignore!
And my request is... free reign. As in, whatever you feel like writing, to your heart's content, involving Riot or not, but fluffy happy things! Love you! <3
Masterlist
Fluff, a bit of comedy.
Pairings: Ghost x Riot (Riot belongs to @gamergirlbonestaskforce141riot ) And a bit of Nikolai x Zhar from A heart full of pity
Summary: Friends gathering. Silly, happy, peaceful. Riot and Ghost just having their little moment of domestic bliss. Nik and Zhar forgetting for one evening, that they have Chimeras to subdue.
AN: This happens wa-a-ay after A heart and your story. Love, I remember, you wanted many kisses. I'm sorry, I really tried, but I didn't want Ghost to feel uncomfortable. At the same time, I wanted them all to spend some time together. So it was either\either situation. How about a pact? If you need a story without my chaotic guys - just send me a req, that says "kisses" and I shall deliver.
“I feel like lately I’ve been asking this question too much, but do I need to know?” Ghost didn’t try to spy on Riot, but he couldn’t make himself unsee that vulgar cover of a paperback book, she just purchased in a duty-free shop.
“That’s a gift from us.” Riots wears a mask, but Ghost learned to read in her expression by this time. If he had to bet, he’d say, she has the most mischievous grin right now and this doesn’t bode well.
“You'll spoil them, and they'll invite you every chance they get...” Simon side-eyed her, but it seemed to have no effect whatsoever.
“Oh, don't get jealous, I'll take you with me occasionally.”
***
They both are secretly happy, no one met them: Nikolai may have been a madly skilled pilot, but his driving style wasn’t something, one would wish to start their relaxing weekend with, and Zhar would immediately start talking about work. Ghost and Riot would maybe not admit it openly, but they lived for these little domestic moments, they got now: seeking for their car rental desk, buying shitty, but so much needed coffee in small thin paper cups and enjoying it on a parking lot, squinting at the bright rays of morning sun, checking their maps, lazily going through unfamiliar radio stations. This is such a desperately needed routine, they both seem to do everything slightly slower to savor every moment.
Riot sets coordinates of their destination and explains something to Ghost, pointing to a monitor on their dashboard, but he seems to not really listen. He looks at her, not tearing eyes from her face for a single moment, and almost unconsciously reaches out and caresses her cheek. An urge to feel her proximity, suppressed by Ghosts power of will, finally manifests in simple, careful and soft touch. It disarms, yet brings peace, catches her off-guard - yet comforts.
They pull to a lonely road that winds through the forest and slowly climbs uphill. Riot looks from her phone to Ghost, since there are no exits from their road anyway.
"You think, he is reckless enough to somehow tinker building of an entire road, just to be able to get to his house comfortably?" She wouldn't be surprised, if Ghost shared her opinion.
"I think, when it comes to Nikolai - it's better not to ask or think too much, if you want to sleep soundly." Ghost glances around, but the road is caged between two thick walls of forest trees, so there is not much to look at anyway.
When they finally reach their destination, Riot opens her door and takes a slow breath. Deep inside, she is ready to admit, that even if some sketchy schemes were involved, while building this all - it was totally worth it. A dark silhouette of a spacious house hides behind pine trees. Distant bird trills and the echo of a babbling brook bounce off the mountain wall, behind them. Apart from that - this place is immersed in a peaceful silence. A freshness of the mountain wind, and a scent of wet pine needles and resin fill the air.
"Long ago there was a safe house somewhere around here. We used to stay there for a few days with Price," Ghosts breaks the silence, coming from the car.
"It's still there. Well, almost there - I converted it into a guest house, so there was a bit of renovation and moving included." A familiar accented voice comes from behind. Riot and Ghost simultaneously turn towards the sound and see Nikolai smiling broadly at them. He emerges from somewhere in the woods, wiping a military knife with a cloth.
Nik nods to Ghost, but when Riot greets him the same way - he shakes his head, extending hands to embrace her. "Idi syuda, solntse. My skuchali po tebe.*" Pulling her into a bear hug, he was still careful enough to keep distance between Riot and a knife in his hand. Any other person on his place would die right after that, under Ghosts death glare, but Nikolai didn't pay too much attention to that.
Leading them into his house, Nikolai invites Riot and Ghost to make themselves comfortable on the veranda or in the living room. "Feel free to explore house and raid the wine cellar. I have some business to tend to." Nikolai was about to leave them two alone, but Riot stopped him on the doorstep.
"Ahem, Nik? You didn't forget anyone?" As shifty as Nikolai sometimes got - even he couldn't escape her, when Riot wanted answers.
"I didn't tell her about you coming here, otherwise, I'd have to tie poor thing up to keep her away from kitchen and cleaning. So she's working somewhere back in town. I think, she'll be back in an hour or so." When Nik talked about Zhar - he always smiled, even when he was obviously not happy with how restless she could get.
"You don't tie a former TF lieutenant up if you value your life," noticed Riot, following Nikolai to the kitchen counter, where some vegetables were laying besides a cook book.
"Oh, I highly recommend it - believe me, those workaholics sometimes don't understand other languages." Nik found a recipe, he was looking for, and left to fetch the rest ingredients.
"¿Qué tonto del culo escribió esto?*" Her voice was so mad, Nikolai shuddered. When he turned back to Riot - Ghost was already by her side.
"You see this? See?! ¡Insultan a toda la nación con estas tonterías!* And it says 'Spanish cuisine' right here! 'Spanish', my ass..." Riot hissed through her teeth as she showed Ghost the recipe.
Before Nikolai could understand, what was happening, he and Ghost were already standing before cutting boards, which Riot loaded with veggies and meat and gave each of them detailed instructions on what to do next. Nik wanted to ask Simon, what was going on and how does one end this, but Ghost was ahead of him. "Don't complain and just do whatever she commands."
Riot stood beside them for a while, supervising the preparation of the ingredients. Convinced that both men were doing exactly what they were told, she turned around. "I guess, I'll raid that wine cellar of yours after all. Let's hope, there is at least some decent Rioja wine there..."
"Fifth row from the bottom, left side," guided her Nik, not turning away from his cutting board.
***
In an hour, another car parked before the house. Zhar flew in with such speed and hurried to the second floor that she did not notice the guests.
"Nebo moye*, I have a surprise for you," called her Nikolai.
"Niigard is out! So as long as your surprise is not a seasoned tactical operator - it has to wait for a bit, ok?" As expected, Zhar was constantly throat deep in her work.
"How about two of them?" Ghost suddenly intervened in their conversation. For a moment, everything felt silent. But then they heard fast steps descending back to the first floor. Zhar was so happy to see them both - she completely ignored the fact, that Ghosts hands were red of the meat, that he chopped, and she shook them anyway. And when she saw Riot - she couldn't stop smiling, hugging her tightly.
"Ok-ok." She finally let go of Riot. "What are we cooking?"
"They are cooking, darling. And we don't lift anything heavier than wine glasses today, so let's go." Riot is about to lead her out of the kitchen, when she notices Nikolai desperately but silently pointing at Zhars pocket. "Yes, this," Riot takes out a work phone from Zhar's pocket and leaves it on the kitchen counter, "This is obviously way heavier, so it stays here." When they both leave, Nikolai turns to Ghost. "Lieutenant, Riot is an angel, and you are a blessed man."
***
At dinner, they all have a relaxed slow talk, remembering how each of them learned to cook. Ghost tells about his and Price's nighttime forays into the kitchen, and the others can't help but laugh. Then Zhar remembers how her parents taught her how to can vegetables so that they would last for ages.
"How come you never told me, you could cook that?" asks her Nik.
"What, that would have helped me in bargaining for higher pay rate in Chimera?" Maybe it's an outcome of Riots good choice of wine, but Zhar seems to be in so rare for her mischievous state of mind.
"Whoa, that reminded me of something!" Riot grins and leaves them for a short moment. When she comes back, Ghosts notices the book, she purchased before their flight, in her hands.
"Before anything happens here - I have to state, I have nothing to do with that." Simon grunts, glancing at the book cover. Zhar and Nikolai look at him in confusion.
"Don't be so dramatic, Ghost, it's just a small gift to make our friends happy. It's... kind of a manual to that one, I guess." Riot points at Nik, but gives book to Zhar.
"Hm, never knew, Nik comes with a manual. I should check if there is a guarantee as well, o-o-oh..." At first, Zhar falls silent, her eyebrows rising in surprise when she sees the cover. Nikolai tries to peek over her shoulder, but she gets up and moves away, leisurely leafing through the book. With each page turned, her face becomes more mysterious. "Ok, there is no guarantee here. But apparently there is 'an exciting and sensual story about the leader of the Russian mafia and a killer who received a contract for him, but found herself falling for him'."
"Riot, solntse moye*, I love you with all my heart, but what the hell?" Nikolai couldn't fight off laughter, asking that.
"I read maybe 2-3 pages, and guys, this has the most hilarious set of all clichés about Russian guys and everyday life. I'm serious, think of all those American movies from 90-s with a scary 'Bandit Ivan' and multiply it by ten - this is how bad it is. Oh, and it has the most inaccurate depiction of armed conflicts, you've ever seen, I promise! I laughed so hard - I just had to share this with you." As Riot explains why she had chosen such a gift, Ghost begins to quietly regret that he hadn't had time to steal a bit of reading. But he immediately changes his mind when Zhar asks if smut-chapters can be considered a manual as well.
"Ok, that's enough of reading for today, love, give it to me!" Nikolai jumps up and tries to grab the book, but Zhar dodges and runs deep into the house.
Ghost gets up from the table, following the two with a glance, and, taking advantage of the fact that the room iss now empty, puts his arm around Riot's shoulders.
"I don't know what scares me more: the fact that these two are older than us and have a private army at their disposal, or that you somehow know how to turn them into giggling teenagers chasing each other in a minute..." Simon whispers in her ear.
Riot relaxes and rests her head on his shoulder. "I guess, I just know how to make menacing beings harmless."
"Oh, that you've mastered for sure," purrs Simon, squeezing her shoulders ever so lightly, before letting her go, as he hears Nik coming back.
"Ghost, I don't know what Price was teaching all of you, but your former colleague almost broke my arm back there." Nikolai runs his hand through his hair, brushing back strands that had fallen on his forehead.
"You knew what you were going for, Nik. She is your blessing now." Ghost scoffed.
"And for that I'll be thankful to every single one of you guys till my last day." Nikolai smiled and offered to escort Riot and Ghost to the guest house, so they could finally rest.
They stepped off the veranda onto a boardwalk winding through the trees. Nikolai promised to turn on the lighting of this path at night. After 15 minutes they came to a small but incredibly cozy wooden house with panoramic windows.
"This place has changed quite a bit since you were last here, Ghost." Nik unlocked the door and tossed the keys to the lieutenant. "Damn, I completely forgot, I was sharpening knives here and left the machine." He hurried to the table in the hall, but Riot quickly caught up with him and grabbed his sleeve.
"Hey, this isn't just a simple knife sharpening machine? If that's what I'm thinking, don't you dare take it with you..." Riot moved Nik aside and proceeded to sit on a couch before a shiny tool station.
"Well, I guess, have fun, guys?" Nikolai chuckled, and left Riot and Ghost alone.
***
Evening silence was broken only by the creak of crickets in the forest and the measured hissing with which the knife blade met the sharpener. Riot took her time; she was mesmerized by the beauty of her knife, that showed through with every move. Simon walked somewhere in the back of the room, immersed in exploring the library that Nik had left in the former safe house. Although it still felt safe - it now looked like the most luxurious version of a safe house possible.
"What are you reading back there," asked Riot, not looking away from the blade in her hands.
"Some poem." Ghosts voice is suddenly much closer, than she initially expected it to be.
"For me the world holds no other delight Than the ring and glitter of your dear name. No rope will be noosed, No stairwell leapt in. Nor will bullet or poison take my life. No power over me, Your glance excepting, Has the blade of any knife." He takes a pause and Riot freezes, heeling his bare hand on her back.
"Oh, I know this one...
Descansar elefante cansado querrá - Sobre la arena quemada se tumbará. Mas que no sea tu amor no tengo otro sol, Y yo no sé, con quién y dónde estás.*" She shifts to the side giving Ghost more space, as he moves to sit beside her. "You know, it's a poem about quite a brutal break-up? That woman, this guy writes about in his poem - she broke him."
Ghost hums. "So instead of books on history or weaponry, those two are stashing stories of broken people... But what strikes me the most in this situation is how many keys your hands bear. Somehow you know even this poem, buried deep in their library." He takes Riots free hand and presses lips against her palm.
"Careful, lieutenant, these hands bear freshly sharpened blades as well." Riot smiles predatory and in one motion straddles him.
"Still worth a risk." Ghost pulls her slightly up, brings closer. His fingers splayed over her lower back. Riots breath slowing as the space between them folds together. Ghosts eyes lid, touching his lips to hers, drinking in her sigh - an answer to some long-standing question and she... she breathes him in. He stills, and then only the warmth of his hands gathering her small frame dissolves the shivery anticipation with the warmth of his relief.
Idi syuda, solntse. My skuchali po tebe. - Come here, sunshine, we missed you.
¿Qué tonto del culo escribió esto? - What piece of shit wrote this?
¡Insultan a toda la nación con estas tonterías! - They insult the entire nation with this nonsense!
Nebo moye - My sky/heaven
solntse moye - my sun

top 10 otps?
Now THIS is MY kinda ask! It took me a full day to think about this ask because I wanted to answer it as thoroughly as possible, but now that my writer's block has cleared up, it's time to answer this one.
My Top Ten Ships (in no particular order)
Tumblr media
John Murphy and Emori kom Spacekru ( The 100 )
The ultimate rags to riches love story. These two went from having absolutely nothing, fighting tooth and nail for just the smallest scrap to get by to living in a huge castle on a moon. You can't get better than that!
Without a doubt the most passionate and intimate couple in the series. That scene where they share each other's very souls? Epic!
What makes this romance such a strong favourite for me is how it surprised us all. I don't think anyone was betting on John Murphy of all characters to end up in the show's most enduring love story.
Tumblr media
Lois Lane and Clark Kent ( Superman )
If you have Lois and Clark as a ship, you're never starving because their love story has been adapted to practically every form of media out there. Comics, Radio, TV shows, Movies, Books, Animation, Video Games, you name it, they got it. It's a buffet!
Their staying power as a couple is incredible. 80+ years later, and people STILL get goosebumps whenever they meet for the first time in any new Superman continuity. To have the ability to take people's breath away like that is unbelievably powerful.
The way they inspire each other to reach new heights, to beat the odds, and to take challenges head on is eternally rewarding to see. They are the definition of power couple.
Tumblr media
The Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler ( Doctor Who )
These two right here are at the root of my entire blog because my newfound obsession with Doctor Who was perfectly timed with me starting this blog. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them, so they'll always occupy a special place on here.
Every time I look at them, they just radiate happiness and comfort. They're each other's beacon of hope in the dire of situations. All of time and space is a much more beautiful place thanks to them!
What will always make me emotional about these two is how they saw something beautiful in each other, and bit by bit, they gave each other the courage to show it off to the rest of the world.
Tumblr media
D'Artagnan and Constance D'Artagnan nee Bonacieux ( The Musketeers )
Speaking of going back in time, let's go back to 17th Century France where we meet my next ship, D'Artagnan and Constance from The Musketeers, my favourite period drama romance.
What I love the most about them is how they provide each other the one thing that's been missing in their lives. D'Artagnan liberates Constance from a life of boredom, emboldening her heart that's been yearning for adventure. Constance becomes D'Artagnan's sanctuary, becoming his home after losing his own.
In this version of the story, Constance is able to defy her fate and live, so we're able to see their relationship grow, and by the end of it, they become a formidable team.
Tumblr media
Niles Crane and Daphne Moon ( Frasier )
If there was an award for the best sitcom romance, this one would take home the big prize, because Niles and Daphne are a showstopper.
What makes them so emotionally resonant for me is how, when they first meet, they both are a little insecure and lonely in their own way. Their combined happiness and newfound confidence when they're finally able to be together is so worth the wait!
Then, of course, there's the sublime modern fairy tale aspect to their story. It's a bit like Cinderella in a lot of ways!
Tumblr media
Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese ( The Terminator )
I love 80's action movies, I love sci-fi, I love time travel stories, and I love romance, so Sarah and Kyle's romance is a winning combination for me.
The Terminator, for the most part, is a movie that's fairly bleak, and that's why Sarah and Kyle's romance with each other is such a standout. It's the one string of hope that eventually leads to humanity's victory over the machines.
I'm a huge sucker for the bodyguard crush trope, too, so it makes this ship tremendously appealing. What makes it even better is that halfway through the movie, they trade places, and it's her protecting him.
Tumblr media
Father Andrew Kiernan and Frankie Paige ( Stigmata )
Now for something from my more obscure collection of obsessions: Stigmata. Still in the vein of talking about tropes, this ship's all about having some fun with the Hot Priest trope. Forbidden love at its finest, am I right?
What draws me into this dynamic and into this story is its subtlety. It doesn't hit you over the head with it, which makes every intimate touch and moment they have hit like a train off its rails whenever they occur throughout the movie's runtime.
Now this is just my personal take on the ending of the movie(it has an open ending), but I like to think that Andrew eventually retires being a priest because he can't fight his feelings for Frankie, and they go off to be together.
Tumblr media
Talon Spears and Garret Spears ( The Outpost )
This was the little ship that could because I thought for sure the series would get cancelled and left on an unresolved cliffhanger due to the utter lack of promotional material it received from The CW, but it managed to make it to four seasons and finished on a satisfactory, conclusive note.
And that endurance to make it to the end is definitely instilled in these two, because they never stopped fighting for each other, protecting their realm with everything they had.
Through compassion, bravery, and resourcefulness, they won the hearts of the people, becoming their champions. They're truly deserving of their royal titles.
Tumblr media
Cyclops and Rogue ( X-Men Evolution )
When you think couples from the X-Men franchise, your mind usually goes to the regular suspects: Scott x Jean, Anna Marie x Remy, but this series will have you thinking twice on that front because of this unexpected surprise.
In this series, Cyclops and Rogue work so well off of each other. They're a walking contradiction because despite having a lot of common ground with each other, their personalities couldn't be more different. That creates a perfect storm of opposites attract + birds of a feather.
One day soon, I hope to see a continuation of this version of the X-Men, because it would mean I would be able to see more of these two.
Tumblr media
Commander Nate Shepard and Jack ( Mass Effect )
This is a seemingly new addition onto my blog, but it really isn't, because I've been a fan of Mass Effect since 2012. Back in the day, I wasn't able to capture video footage of my custom Shepard with Jack because I'm a console player, but with the PS4 being able to record gameplay footage, now I can! It feels so much more personal this way instead of using the default Shepard, you know?
I feel like this portion of this massive list needs its own segment, because I have so much more to say about them(it involves a lot of explaining about how I've developed my Shepard's backstory and why it aligns so perfectly with Jack's), but that wouldn't be fair to the rest who're on this list.
So I'll just say this romance is a beautiful showcase of how someone can enter in your life, offer an escape when you think there's no way out, and give you the chance to rehabilitate and recover just when you least expect it.
And now this list is complete. Thanks for inspiring me to chat about why all these fantastic and amazing couples resonate with me so much and why I can't stop editing them!

“not today satan” + steve/eddie
"I still don't understand why you don't know when you're gonna be done."
"I told you I'd call when it's done," Dustin says with a groan. "Why can't that be enough?"
"Because!" Steve snaps. "I'm not your chauffeur, you little shit. I can't just sit around all day waiting for you to call to come get you."
"Oh, really?" Dustin drawls. "What grand plans do you have for today?"
Steve falters and drums his fingers against his steering wheel. "I have plans," he replies lamely.
"Uh-huh." Dustin crosses his arms, smirking as he turns to the window. Steve hates that stupid little smirk, he sees it way too often.
"Just, like--" Steve groans. "Ballpark?"
Dustin sighs heavily and throws his arms up into the air. "I dunno, six? Seven, maybe?"
"That's--" Steve pauses, doing the math in this head, "--eight hours from now!"
"Yeah?"
"You're gonna sit around for eight hours playing this stupid game?!"
"First of all, it's not stupid. Second of all, it's way more than just a game. And third," Dustin says, counting them off on his fingers, "eight hours is nothing. Some campaigns last for weeks, Steve. Weeks!"
"You're insane, you know that, right?"
Dustin rolls his eyes as Steve turns onto the road leading to the trailer park. Steve shakes his head and scoffs. He can't imagine sitting around for eight hours playing some dumb game. Surely they'll get bored at some point, right?
"You could just stick around," Dustin says. "Who knows, you might even like it."
"Pass," Steve replies flatly as he pulls into the trailer park, slowing down as he turns to park alongside Eddie's van.
Dustin springs out of the car as soon as Steve shifts into park and cuts the engine, and a moment later the trailer door bursts open and out walks Eddie Munson himself.
"Henderson!" he whoops, grinning widely as Dustin approaches. "About time."
Steve sticks his head out through his window and shouts a reminder to Dustin to call him, and Dustin just waves him off.
"I will abandon you," Steve calls back, muttering under his breath about ungrateful little assholes.
"What, you're not staying?" Eddie says with an exaggerated pout. Dustin disappears into the trailer but Eddie walks towards Steve's car instead, a wicked look in his eyes. "C'mon, I bet even you would have fun." Eddie wiggles his eyebrows at Steve, who is absolutely not affected.
"Not today, Satan."
Eddie clutches his chest and staggers a little, the grin on his face not faltering even for a second.
"Oh, Harrington," he teases, "aren't you a charmer?"
Steve's mouth is suddenly dry and he pulls his head back into his car, cursing sharply when he fumbles turning the keys in the ignition. He jumps when a pair of hands suddenly slam against the car door and as Steve fights to catch his breath, Eddie continues just smiling at him.
"You're a dick, Munson," Steve grumbles. Eddie chuckles and leans in a little closer.
"You know what they say," he muses, licking his lips as he keeps staring at Steve, whose heart rate kicks up another notch. "You are what you eat."
Steve's eyes go wide as Eddie steps back from the car and cackles loudly, walking back to the door of his trailer with so much swagger in his step that Steve couldn't look away even if he tried. Eddie pauses as he reaches for the handle on the door, looking back at Steve and winking as he makes a kissy face at him, and then pulls it shut and vanishes from Steve's sight.
It takes a full five minutes for Steve to feel like he can breathe again, and another two minutes at least for him to get enough of a grip on himself that he can start his car.
As he pulls out of the trailer park, he tells himself there's no way he's going to spend the next eight hours thinking about what Eddie meant. He's gonna make himself forget all about it and find another way to entertain himself until Dustin calls him for a ride.
Unfortunately for Steve, Eddie's voice is still ringing in his ears when he pulls into Robin's driveway fifteen minutes later, and it ends up being exactly what he spends the next eight hours thinking and ranting about to Robin.

Paintless Dent Removal in St Petersburg
Taking care of your car can be a tedious task. It's not just about keeping your vehicle running at full power. Aside from regular maintenance, you also have to protect your car from damage. This means you may need to go the extra mile. One such option is paintless dent removal. Not only does it preserve your car's paint, it can save you money on body filler.
Paintless dent removal is not for the faint of heart. You may be surprised to learn that it takes more than a simple brush and a hammer to make your car look good again. Some dents are in difficult to reach areas. Other dents are simply too big for this method. In many cases, paying out of pocket is the best bet.
Aside from the usual repair tasks, you'll find that удаление вмятин без покраски comes with the benefits of insurance coverage. In addition to saving you money, it can help you get your vehicle back on the road quickly. The process involves using special tools to remove the dents. Most of the time, the work can be done from the comfort of your home. Depending on the scope of the job, you may be able to get your car back for a fraction of the cost of a full-blown body shop.
The amount of damage a dent causes to your car will ultimately determine which process is most effective. When it comes to paintless dent removal, the best approach is to choose a company that has experience and the tools needed to handle your job. If you do the proper research, you can find an expert that can help you get your car looking and feeling like new again.
To determine the most appropriate method, you'll need to know the size of the dent, as well as the location. Obviously, a large dent is much harder to fix than a smaller one. Also, a dent that is uneven in its depth or shape will require more time and work.
The most important part of any repair process is to identify which is the most cost-effective approach. For instance, repairing a scuffed front bumper may only be a few hundred dollars. However, repairing a damaged transmission or replacing the rear window will likely cost a lot more. Luckily, a service contract is a great way to avoid having to shell out thousands of dollars.
While paintless dent repair can be a cost effective and eco-friendly solution, it does come with its share of drawbacks. For instance, if the repair is too extensive, it can result in your car looking worse than before. Similarly, if the car isn't painted properly, it may not be repainted in its original color. So, it's a good idea to find a paintless dent removal company that has been in business for at least two years. They'll have a wealth of experience to draw from.
If you're curious about how to get your vehicle looking its best, you'll want to visit a service center that offers the best in paintless dent removal in St. Petersburg, Florida.

How about a Bucky x reader,(with a personal twist): She had not been able to go near a water-slide since she was 5, after a near drowning incident! Even in her adult years, she was fully capable to swim- but could not indulge in certain water park activities.(I am 40, and still not able to go near slides without a racing heart, high pulse, legs shaking-and if being forced screaming my lungs out) So when Tony arranged a day off at the local water theme park, reader was so anxious to come along...
Water-Slide Dare
Pairing: Bucky x female!reader
Word Count: 1,032
Summary: You’re terrified of water-slides and you’re afraid the team will make fun of you for it, so when you’re dared to go on the biggest one, how could you refuse?
Warnings: anxiety mentions, self-doubt, fluff!
Notes: First off I’m super bad at titles😅
I received two asks so I sorta combined them, I hope that’s okay! The other was about proving yourself worthy to the team because you don’t think they like you, but Bucky assures you they do.
Tumblr media
With the sizzling summer heat, you were certain you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, which meant it was finally vacation time for everyone in the compound. You'd hoped to see that theme park in California where they had a mock Avengers Campus or even a trip out of country, but of course, a unanimous decision lead to a trip to the waterpark. Hooray. It's not that you were disappointed, you just...had a history with them.
It was every kid's dream to tackle the tallest water-slide at the park, but it was a dream turned nightmare when you almost drowned. You were five years old when you swore to yourself you'd never go near another water-slide again. The only one on the team who knew what happened was your boyfriend, Bucky, so when you stood at the waterpark's entrance a few steps behind everyone else, he was surprised you even came along. And you were surprised they invited you.
The team only teased you because you were still new, but it made you feel as though you didn’t quite fit in with them. They didn’t know how you felt because you hid it from them, so if they hurt you, you’d play along. You volunteered to do things you didn’t want to in hopes of gaining their full acceptance, and no matter what you always said yes. It was the default mode for you; you didn’t think you were enough until you proved it time and again, and you were adamant to do so even though it was unnecessary.
"You ready?" He asked you, kissing your temple.
"It's okay,” he soothed, “we don’t have to.” He reached to wipe away your tears, smiling down at you softly. Your mind raced with the thoughts of the team making fun of you because you couldn’t face a fear you’d had for years.
With a nod and a shaky breath, you responded a quiet "Yeah." And with his hand in yours, you both met up with the rest of the team.
"Alright, kids, time to literally blow off some steam," joked Tony.
"I call dibs on the wave pool!" Peter yelled, already taking off.
"Man, I just want to kick back and relax. I'm hitting the lazy river," Sam told Steve.
Clint tapped Natasha on the arm and pointed to the tallest waterslide you'd ever seen. "See that big guy right there? He's mine."
"Oh sure," she scoffed. "But I bet they'll want to race you to it."
You didn't realize you and Bucky were the ones in question until the silence went on for too long, forcing you to look at the team in front of you.
"Wh-me? Us?" You gulped, the anxiety immediately kicking in.
"Yeah! Unless you're...chicken," Nat taunted playfully.
The team let out a collective "ooooh."
"Come on, Nat, don't tease her," Steve chided, shaking his head. Bucky noticed your widened eyes and wrapped an arm around you.
"Leave her alone," he warned. Nat cocked an eyebrow.
"It's just a joke, Barnes. Unless she’s scared...?"
You shoved his arm off your shoulder. "I can handle it just fine!" You crossed your arms over your chest, challenging them with your eyes narrowed.
"If you say so," she smiled. "It's not like you've got something to prove." Her words cut through you and you huffed indignantly as you stomped away from the group and towards your impending doom.
"You don't have to do this," Bucky assured you, following in your footsteps.
"Yes I do!"
You reached the top in time to see the last two people jump in, and you swallowed the lump in your throat as you realized you were next. The guard motioned for you to hop up towards the entrance and you hesitantly took a baby step forward, your legs already trembling as you gripped onto Bucky for dear life. The splashing of water below did nothing to drown out the sound of the blood rushing through your ears. Your eyes screwed shut and you froze, hyperventilating as you recalled the traumatic event that instilled fear in you from an early age. Your heart rate accelerated and you lost track of time until you heard your name gently being called by your boyfriend.
"Hey, it's alright." Comforting arms draped around your body and you heard a steadier heartbeat against your ear. "Come back to me." When you regained your senses you saw the concern etched in his pretty face, his steel eyes searching yours to make sure you were okay. Suddenly you felt tears trailing down your face.
"I don't want to do this," you rushed out.
“But what are they gonna think of me when we get back?”
Before he could respond, the life guard loudly popped his bubble gum and your heads jerked towards him. "Are you getting on or not? Cuz there's like, a line." You turned to look back at the kids who impatiently stood behind you and stepped out of the way.
“We’re not,” he answered. He took your hand and started to lead you back down the steps.
You almost walked past the team’s spot when you realized you were the only two there. “Worried for nothing, see?” he told you. “They’re not even here.” You laughed and wiped your face, sighing in relief. “You wanna go find Sam and Steve at the lazy river?”
You cleared your throat when you got to the bottom. "I'm sorry I dragged you up there." He chuckled, pulling you into his side.
“It’s alright, I got my steps in.” You smiled for the first time that day, nuzzling closer to him as you walked back to the rendezvous point. “You know they only tease you because they like you, right?” You shrug. “And even if they didn’t, who cares? That’s not your problem. But I promise, they won’t judge you for this at all, they really do care about you and they’ll understand.” Your whole body relaxed at his words. Even if you couldn’t trust the voice in your anxious mind, you knew you could trust his. And for now that was enough.
“Yeah,” you answered, smiling and linking your arm in his. “I’d like that.”

Hello! Is it okay if you do Fluffy Danny Johnson headcanons with his wife during her pregnancy and maybe an aftermath with a little girl? Plz and thank you!
FINALLY got DBD on my ps4 so I've been playing it a lot in the past days! I'm still a newbie but hey I'm getting the hang of things! I've been in a few trials with Ghostface, in which I always die, so this has awaken my love for him once more. He kinda is a bit ooc here too but tbh I don't care :) Sorry for the delay! Hope you like this! <3
Reminder that requests are currently open.
DANNY JOHNSON (GHOSTFACE) WITH A PREGNANT S/0
If you thought Danny was possessive before, clearly you haven't seen him during your pregnancy. The man refuses to let you go outside without him - he can't risk something happening to you or the baby. Danny knows how cruel people can be.
He's Danny, so expect him to also mock you in some of your emotional-pregnancy crisis. He doesn't actually mean it; but it's Danny. You knew what you were getting into after you two married.
In fact, Johnson didn't want children. He thought they were a waste of time and money - although after you got pregnant, the idea of doing a pregnancy photoshoot fell from the sky like a brilliant idea. Plus, the way you glowed, with that motherly look on your eyes...Warmed up his heart. He would never admit that tho.
Gets you whatever you desire. Fruits, clothing, you name it; he doesn't mind picking them up in the middle of the night, although he can take...more time than it should. He always apologizes and gives you chocolate as an offer, along with the stuff you asked for.
About the baby; Danny wanted to know the gender the minute it was possible, but you wanted to keep it a surprise. So you both, especially you, did the best gender-neutral bedroom ever. Danny hoped it was a girl, you were happy with whatever.
The best part about being pregnant, besides Danny giving you (even more of) his full attention, was watching him build a baby crib with his hair in a small, low pony-tail and rolled up sleeves. His eyes focused on the instruction book - you loved when he got this involved and focused. Truly a beautiful sight to see, trust me.
When the time finally came, it was for sure an adventure. Danny was downstairs when your waters broke, and he rushed to your sight to take you to the hospital - still, keeping his calm and dropping jokes here and there. You wonder how he managed, since you were literally shouting at him.
Although the doctors and nurses offered him to wait outside, Danny refused. He wanted to be there all the time - plus a little blood won't scare him off. He held your hand and watched intensely, while praising you at the same time.
"You're doing such a great job." "That's my girl." "C'mon, just a little more." "I bet they'll have your eyes."
You kept cursing at the world and Danny sometimes. He laughed it off, but you saw the sweat forming on his forehead.
Nevertheless, the moment the first cries were heard, his head almost immediately turned to the nurse holding the newborn.
"It's a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Congratulations Miss and Mister Johnson."
Oh and it's the most perfect lil thing you have ever laid your eyes upon. She has Danny's eyes but she has your hair. Her small hands reach out for Danny once he picks her up in his arms - and it tears you up. He's holding her so carefully and gently - something that's very unlike him. He tilts his head a bit, in both curiosity and wonder, and thinks to himself 'Is this worth it?'
Danny had promised to be better for you. He hides his true face, his true job, from you, and now your and his daughter. He promises to himself that she'll never find out about it - and anyone who dares to hurt her will have to face The Ghostface.
He kisses your forehead, "You did an amazing job, honey."
You smile fondly, "We did."
Her name is Olivia. Danny picked it and refused to explain why he chose that name.

When her lawyer called your name you couldn't believe this shit, he can't just do that right, but then the judge denied the defendants appeal, thankfully. After that it started to look a little better, bdsm agreement was nullified and Eddie was called to testify against her and the evidence he submitted sealed the deal almost, but the major turning point was her first victim, a woman, she looked around 20, you felt the hair on your neck sticking up as you realised what that meant, she was probably just a minor when Carla must have groomed her. How awful one person can be? She's the real monster, And to think there are people like her working at such prestigious positions everywhere, who use their position of power to harrass and abuse people is scary, after the girl testified with full proof evidence, her team didn't really have anything to counter attack with.
The proofs you kept of her harrassing loki with texts, and nudes and voicemails also came in handy, when jury members made their decision, it was upto the judge to decide. Your hands felt clammy as you waited for the decision, you could finally see her starting to lose her calm composed attitude as she realised she would be in for a very very long time. She abused loki and other people just for fun, all this was nothing but a game to play for her, worst part is out of everyone, it was loki who never suspected her, who didn't think she was abusing him, she gaslighted him so much that he would think she was doing this out of love. Even when she berated him he thought she loved him, that he probably deserved to be hurt like that, to be called a monster, she made him believe that he deserved to be treated badly and that she was doing him a favor by loving him, she made him believe that he would never be loved like that again, that bitch, Your heart breaks everytime you think of his time with her.
You snapped out of your thoughts when the judge announced that she would spend her next 7 years in jail with the charges for abuse, statutory rape, as well as she was fined a hefty amount for defaming loki publicly, It's over, it's done, she would finally be out of your lives and you couldn't have been happier. When the judge made the final decision that's when she finally realised how fucked she was, she started wailing and yelling at loki, calling him all sorts of name, telling him it was because of her he was even an avenger and what not. She almost ran to attack him but a cop stopped her, and then all of a sudden she stopped wailing like a banshee as if someone hypnotised her, it was either frigga or loki, your bet was totally on frigga "they'll kill me, she'll kill me, please don't leave me in a jaill" she yelled again n again as they took her. It was the most satisfying thing to witness ever.
You looked at her one last time, before you all stepped out of the court, you were just glad she didn't have any superpowers, that would have added to her evilness, the damage she would do if she did, you shuddered just thinking about it, not that this wasn't enough already, You held Loki's hand and he clutched onto you tightly, he was relieved it was all over, he felt peace finally, nothing will hurt you both or keep you apart from him anymore. It was only when you reached the tower is when you finally embraced him in the tightest hug ever, both teary eyed, both getting to breathe in relief finally "you did so good lo, you finally got her, I'm so proud of you baby, look at me, I'm so so proud of you" you smiled between your tears as you cupped his cheeks, you wiped his tears and he hugged you so tightly "we did it princess, I couldn't have done this without you by my side, you can't even comprehend how happy you make me" he mumbled and you pulled away to look at him "I have some idea" you giggled and he picked you up and sat down on the couch in his favourite position, with you on top of him.
You kissed his forehead, then his nose , then his lips, you took your time, he needed to feel, he needed your love and affection, you'd never let anyone hurt him like that ever again, it's you and him against the world forever, no matter what happens you'd never let him go "I love you princess" he mumbled between the kisses, and you smiled, he looked so good in that suit he was wearing, so hot, you wanted to absolutely smother him in all kinds of love but he had to go see his lawyer soon and then so many press meets that tony and the pr team organised "I love you my precious baby, it's because of you now that hopefully, men would start to speak against abuse too, they deserved a voice and you gave them that lo" you kissed all over his neck as you mumbled and he placed his head down on the couch "thank you, I don't want to go princess, I want to stay here with you, and ma" he said like a little kid, god hes too adorable, how he's all yours to cherish? "I know baby, I do too, just few more hours okay? Then you can spend time with your family I promise, and if you get bored and sick of all these meetings, you could always run to me, I'll help you hide"
You assured him and he smiled as he heard you, now that all of this is over, he have other things he needs to work on, important things, he had to ensure your safety. Once he was satisfied with all the lovings, he went to the meeting, thor was by his side throughout, you spent your time with jane, frigga and wanda in the tower. Then frigga wanted to talk to you in private so you took her to Loki's room "I have to leave tomorrow, Asgard needs their queen back apparently" she rolled her eyes and you giggled "I'm happy loki got the semblance of midgardian justice, but I still feel as if it's not enough" she said to you and you nod in agreement "it's not, how could it ever be, she deserves to rot in hell after what she has done but atleast it's something" you smiled at her and she caressed your head "It is for now"
"You know my mother, if one could call her that, she recently tried to contact me after years, but I just can't bring myself to forgive her, I know everyone deserves a second chance but I just.." before your could finish your sentence she interrupted you "you shouldn't forgive her my child, not after what she did, it's a mother's job to keep her child safe from everything and she failed, don't forgive her if you don't want to, a broken bond like that can't be rebuilt, and besides you have a mother now"
You teared up as you heard her and she hugged you tightly, then waved her hands just like loki does for magicky stuff and she conjured a plant? "What is this?" You asked her as she gave it to you "I don't suppose I'm the right person to answer you that, but think of it as a valuable gift, keep it in your room by the window and if you go somewhere take this with you, you have to water it everyday, you can't miss a day or it will die, after 6 months it will bear a herb" she told you, it was alot to process but what it is this for? You wanted to ask but she already said she's not the right person to answer that, maybe loki can tell you more about it. You kept the plant in Loki's room for now and watered it like she said, you didn't want to hog on all her time so you both went back to spend time with others, everyone was in the living room except, loki and thor but they'll be back soon. Bucky wasn't there as he couldn't face you after what he did.
When loki finally did come back he seemed happier, he finally seemed at peace, you clicked so many pictures of him and frigga, and thor. They are so cute, you sometimes still can't believe that someday you'll be part of this royal family, you still worried about Odin though. Would he even accept you? What about other people in Asgard, how would they react to you if you go there? When it was time for dinner, Tony raised a toast for you and loki, for finally getting over with the case, and that reminds you of their wedding a month later, you're the goddamned bridesmaid, you have never been one and it scared you. Plus pepper gave you the impression of being nothing less than a bridezilla, not necessarily in a bad way though.
After dinner loki spent some more time with frigga, she was leaving tomorrow and he wanted to have all the love and care. Then you took loki back for much needed spooning session, he was exhausted from the day, so you both showered and dressed up in comfy clothes, you did, he just liked sleeping naked in his briefs, "sweet baby, how do you feel now" you asked him as you scratched his scalp "I feel perfect princess, I have you here with me, safe and loved and that's how I'm going to keep you, I have a surprise for you" you smiled as he said that, you wondered what he meant, he waved his hand and he had two tickets in his hands, you sat up as you saw them, you have never been on a plane before "are we going on a vacation?"
You asked him and he smiled as he perched himself on his elbows "San Juan Island, I love islands" you squealed, even though you have never been anywhere, you liked what you saw in movies and pictures "I wanted to take you somewhere out of America but you don't have a passport, so we are getting it made when we get back okay? " He said softly, you didn't need to go out of this country, you were just happy to be able to spend some alone time with him, just you and him "just wanted to take you somewhere quiet and peaceful, I even booked a cottage for us, Clint helped with that, we are going to have lots of sex in there" he giggled and you kissed him, he's so cute "thank you I love it so much, we leave in two days? I'll have to do shopping" you gasped and he pulled you in to snuggle, he took the tickets and kept it in the bedside drawer. He have one more surprise for you but he will give it to you after the vacation, and he also have an extremely important question to ask you as well "I'll take you tomorrow okay?" He kissed the tip of your nose and you giggled. That night you both finally had a peaceful sleep after a long time, no Thanos, no Carla, Joysha was gone, well for now , Bucky seemed regretful, things finally felt as if they were falling into the right place, there was still this thing with your mom but you won't let her disrupt your peace.
Next morning you both spent some time with frigga, just like last time lady sif came to receive her again, but this time she had some guy along with her too which you later found out was fandral, another one of Thor's friends, sif again glared at loki just like she did last time, god get over it, didn't it happen like 300 years ago? you're still holding a grudge for that?
Once they were gone loki took you to eat, you kept thinking about the vacation, you never got the chance to have a vacation before as you couldn't afford it. You were kind of nervous about it "Princess, I wanted to come with you but I have to go see my lawyer for some paperwork, I asked wanda already and she's more than happy to take you" he kissed your forehead and wrapped his arms around your waist as he spoke "mmm okay, you'll be safe?" You asked him and he smiled "I will, you be safe too please, come here" he hugged you and you stood on your tip toes to wrap your arms around his neck "if you need me, anytime, just say my name three times in your head okay?" He told you and you look at him "in my head?" You asked him curiously and he nods "three times, try it"
You said his name three times in your head as you giggled and you heard him in your head "oh my god oh my god" he chuckled at your reaction "how did you do that" you asked him really surprised with whatever this was "I have been working on it from a long time, if you ever need me just say my name three times and I'll be with you anywhere you want, I need to protect you princess, can't allow anyone to hurt you anymore" he told you and you teared up, he's trying to keep you safe "okay you're just ..just amazing" you kissed him softly "Just doing my job princess"
He left you with wanda and you both went to the mall to do hell loads of shopping, you got dresses you'd like to wear, some sexy lingeries for the vacation, you can't wait to see his reaction. Pepperony's wedding is next month but you'll think about that after this vacation, no distractions for the next 7 days. Once you got done you went back to the tower and went straight to Loki's room. He kept the door open for you so you stepped inside, there he was, your sweet baby, sleeping peacefully. You kept the shopping bags on the dresser and walked towards the bed, you took out your phone and clicked a picture, he's so cute like this, then you laid down next to him carefully so as to not wake him, he shifted a little as you did but he was still very much asleep.
"I love you little kitten" you mumbled softly as you kissed his neck and you don't even remember when you drifted off too. When you woke up next he was looking at you, with a smile on his face "hey there" you smiled as you heard him, and rubbed your eyes, he giggled as he watched your eye liner smudging all around your eyes "what are you giggling for" you asked him and he kissed you "nothing, how was the shopping, got everything you needed?"
"Mmmm everything" you smiled and he got up "Did you water the plant mama gave you?" He asked you and you almost forgot about that, she asked to water it everyday or it would die, it's a gift and you didn't want to disappoint her "oh no I'll do it now" you got up too and quickly watered the plant, you needed to ask him what is this plant for, she said something about a herb.
"Princess" he called your name and you turned around to look at him "I have to ask you something very important" you couldn't read the expression on his face, he looked happy but very nervous for some reason, is he going to propose, oh my god hes going to propose right "yeah? Everything okay baby?" You asked him and he went down on his knees, oh my god hes proposing "Come here, put your hands in mine" he raised his both arms and kept his palm in supine position and you walked towards him to put your hands in his, feeling a little anxious about this.
"Just know, that even if you say no to this, I would be hurt yes, but I would understand, it wouldn't change anything I promise, I know it's a huge commitment and I just want you to be happy with me, as long as you would want my darling princess" you look at him as he teared up, why would you ever say no to marrying him, it's your dream, he's yours, you're his forever "lo baby.." before you can finish he interrupted you quickly "sorry, didn't mean to interrupt, but I just need to ask you this right now, I have waited too long already" you nod your head as you heard him and he took a deep breath. Definitely proposing.
"Princess" he stopped for a second as if thinking about it "I love you so much, more then I'll ever love anyone in my life again, and it's only growing everyday, and I'm never going to stop, I won't be able to even if I want, you're everything I have ever craved for, so I really, really need something very valuable from you" he spoke softly, his voice almost afraid, as if you would reject him, you looked at him intently.
"What is it baby, you know I'll do anything for you right? What do you want lo?" you asked him and he sighed.
"Your mortality"

• tohma knows, and he understands. that's all I'm saying. he knows how hard you work to please people, he knows the things you have to do and most importantly, he knows how to help you.
• he notices the little things and drops in your mood like how your shoulders just drop when you reach a dead end, or how you seem to curl into yourself when someone isn't pleased with the fruits of you labor and how you take much more time in the shower after a particularly trying day and once, when he went to go check on you, he heard you crying and it broke his heart.
• tohma would abruptly hold your hand in his when he notices your eyes start to glaze over.
• he would massage away the soreness in your muscles after you spend all day running to and fro or carrying this and that from point a to point b.
• reminds you that one day of rest won't hurt you or make anyone hate you, and not taking a rest day would hurt you and sadden everyone.
• he learned how to carry around spare clothes and a first aid kit because you would walk around in ripped clothes and poorly wrapped cuts while working.
• takes your shoulders in his hands and forces you to look at him, and then he smiles and reminds you to take a deep breath.
• was taken aback the first time you cried in his arms, but was also relieved that you finally allowed yourself to let your walls down, and to him of all people.
he was pretty proud of himself.
• while he is happy that he can help you, he gets upset when you overwork yourself again and again because he thought you had managed to pace yourself.
• asks you if you're happy with what you do.
• kidnaps you and takes you to the beach where you can have a talk with him.
• kidnaps you for lunch and snack times too.
• tohma looks for you about 13 times a day and passes by you by accident at least 3 times.
• carries a water bottle around with him and lets you take a sip when he sees you.
• he gave you a lucky charm to protect you when he has other things that pull him away from you.
• some days he walks with you while you do your business and if he thinks you're packing in more than you can handle, he is the firm voice that says enough.
• he splits the jobs between you two so it can get done easier and he can drag you home to cuddle.
• when he wakes up earlier than you, or wakes up when you try to sneak away in the morning, you can bet he hugs you tightly so you cant escape and so you can actually get a full 8 hours of sleep.
• "i'm proud of you,"
• "no, listen to me, you have worked so hard today, you're allowed some rest,"
• "good job! let's work again together tomorrow!"
• "let me shower you with love, please, you've been running around all day,"
• "no, they wont be mad at you for delivering the package on the day they asked you to deliver instead of tge day before,"
• "have you eaten? no? then we are going to eat!"
• "i think they'll be more upset that you didnt eat yet,"
• "if you think finishing that is important, then i think that your health is important,"
• "come here and cry in my arms,"
• you cant lie to this man because he just knows. and he never tires of taking care of you or of reminding you that feeling emotions and putting yourself before others every once in a while is okay.

I am losing my mind with your marriage pact ficlet. Losing my sh!t as well. Good lord that's so them it makes me want to smack them in their heads for being so damn ridiculous and dramatic and so very in love with each other. I also bet that Kara bought those the day after they made that pact or maybe it was the day they moved in, but it was definitely one of those two day. I'd bet money on it. Ugh they're so ridiculous they'll be the death of me and I love them (and your ficlet) dearly.
ahdkjfhsak thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I've had that idea percolating in the back of my mind for a while but couldn't figure out how best to put it into words until recently.
It is so desperately them to keep dancing around each other—so deeply in love, but so deeply afraid of losing the other that neither is quite brave enough to take the risk. It's like they need the tension to finally reach a boiling point for either of them to make a move, even though that move barely even needs to be a centimeter in length because they're already basically married in season 2 lol. (Someone (probably Nia) just needs to bonk their heads together already, because something needs to get through their thick skulls.)
Kara totally would do that, though! I think it was probably spread across both of those days. She purchases the ring immediately the day after, because she's just so damn gay and hopeful. And she needs to have it on hand, just in case. But the bracelet, that was a process that started the day they moved in together.
See, I imagine it as a traditional kryptonian marriage bracelet, which Kara would work to handcraft for her. It'd be a labor of time and love. Especially the etchings. I think the pair moving in together was an 'oh shit, this is very serious and potentially very real' moment for Kara, and she realized she very, very much wants this with Lena. But not just a marriage of convenience because 'oop we're both still single so might as well.' What she wants is real and meaningful and so full of yearning. She wants to share her life with Lena, every little bit and piece of herself, including the kryptonian ones. Because she trusts Lena to hold those fragile pieces of herself and not break her again.
So she makes this piece of home to give to her new home, Lena, and waits and waits and waits for a sign that Lena wants this, too. And when Lena does, Kara gifts it to her along with her heart and a ring.
And of course, Lena recognizes the marriage bracelet for what it is instantly, having heard so many of Kara's stories of Krypton over the years. She recognizes its significance, and that's why she asks, almost brokenly "are you joking?" Because she sees the gravity of this gesture, and she... she can't believe it. Not without Kara saying the words.
Even with the ring, for a split second, she still believes that it's a platonic gesture from a joke and a promise made between friends. But the bracelet says everything words can't.
Anyways, that got way longer than intended, but they are so hopeless and so deeply in love. And I'm dead because of it XD

𝐁𝐨𝐤𝐮𝐭𝐨:
This man would go to your favorite places and then get sad because he remembers you're out of town and he can't see you for like 2 weeks.
Will call you when you're not busy ( he is very considerate 🥺)
Looks at your pics saved on his phone with eyes that scream I LOVE THIS PERSON WITH MY WHOLE HEART💓
Will Ft you before bed and and tells you he loves you and he misses you.
Whines to Akaashi that he misses you
" Agasheee!!! Y/n s gonna been gone foreveeeer.!" Bokuto whined as he leaned on Akaashi.
The annoyed glint in Akaashi's eye was gone as quick a [ a phrase that fits ] letting out a tired sigh he shook of Bokuto eyeing him as he watches Bokuto whine about how he misses you.
" Bokuto-san, it's only been 6 days since l/n san left, besides that they'll only be gone for 2 weeks. " Akaashi calmly states to Bokuto
" but but Akaashi!! It's gonna feel like forever" throwing his hands up as to emphasize the point to the tired looking Akaashi.
Letting out a sigh Akaashi was already analyzing how not to make Boukto go into emo mode when they're having a practice match soon.
" well how about this, call them "
" Ah! That's a great idea! " Glowing and in a good mood Bokuto goes on his phone to call you.
~bzzt bzzt~
"kou? Is there something wrong?"
" Y/n !! Nothings wrong just missed you♡´・ᴗ・`♡. "
Dont question how he said that out loud
"I miss you too, Babe! "
" I'm really sorry tho I have to go I'm busy right now but I'll call later"
" hmm. It's fine babe call me later k? "
" definitely. Bye kou!"
He loves you and will be so excited for your call so don't make him wait!
𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢:
Ok he is more subtle in like telling you he misses you
Like sending you uber eats with your fav foods
Long good morning text about how much he loves you and how he is so grateful to have such a wonderful s/o.
Ok maybe not so subtle when you're not in arms reach
Gliding through the seemingly endless rows of book shelves... Akaashi see's something that you might like. Taking the book from the shelf and placing it in his arms as he finds a desolate place near a window, scanning through the book "hmm y/n would definitely like this"
Imagining you with him on a library date then going out for some coffee/tea/juice/etc. made his heart heavy since he can't be with you right now since you're out of town..
Instead of wallowing in his loneliness he finds comfort in imagining the content look on your face when it's really peaceful or the look of excitement when you go on carnival games.. he could list down a lot more moments with you that made him fall deeper than he already is and when You come back, you bet he's gonna take you on the loveliest date you've ever experienced in your whole life time.
𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚
This BABIE will think of a positive side but then as a few days go by....he really misses you
Will call you everyday
Got teased by tsukki how he was just a simp
And this boi will just Proudly stated with full confidence " Yes I'm a simp but only for them! "
Tanaka and noya are proud🤩✨
Wiping the sweat from his face after practice and checking his phone if there were any calls or messages from you, when there was nothing he sulked a bit and of course our salty middle blocker noticed.
Tsukishima let out a "pfft." As he saw Hinata looking like a kicked puppy
Hinata noticing glanced up at him" WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING ABOUT HEEHH SALTYSHIMA. "
" nothing nothing it's just you're such a simp"smirking thinking he embarrassed Hinata.
Puffing up his chest as he states proudly " Yes I'm a simp! But only for them! "
Loosing his smirk Tsukishima lets out a
"eww"
" YES SHOYO EMBRACE THE SIMP!" Noya jumped up and down he was excited his kouhai growing up!
" EMBRACE THE SIMP HINATA EMBRACE IT" Screeched Tanaka as he was also proud of his junior🤩
Welp¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Kenma
Ok ok he doesn't seem affected but to the people close to him aka Kuroo Tetsuro know other wise
Takes one of your shirts from his closet when you left it at his house after cuddling with him
He sleeps in your shirt and wants you to big spoon him when you come back
Would seek you out after practice only to be reminded that you aren't there
Just 3 am FaceTimes like he's gaming while you're either dozing off or is full of energy
The bright light of the Nintendo switch illuminates through the room at God knows what hour as kenma focuses on the final boss while you were dozing off on the other side of the screen.
Kenma paused the game to look at you..
" hey y/n, you know you don't have to stay up with me.." Kenma said in whisper he knew you were tired but stayed up just to talk to him and he may not express it but he really does love you and it just warms his heart.
Snapping out of your dozing state, you were quick to reassure the pudding haired boy.
" Ah! no no I'm really not that tired. " Trying to convince your boyfriend.
" Y/n...." Kenma looked at you not believing a word that came out of your mouth. Letting out a sigh you avoided the non believing look of your boyfriend as you try to explain yourself.
"A-ah well it's just I haven't seen your face or heard your voice for a whole day cause I was so busy and you were on my mind the whole day and I really miss you..." Curious since there was only silence on the other end, you looked up to see a rare sight Kenma Kozume blushing a small blush but still still noticable in the dark nonetheless.
" hmm.. I miss you too" looking at him with a smile that could rival the sun. " Now go on finish your game Kenma. I'll just be respectfully looking at your gorgeous face"
" hmm..k" unpausing his game he continued for another 15 minutes... As VICTORY flashes through the screen. He heard small snores coming from his phone and there you were sleeping peacefully. Kenma couldn't phantom how he got such a amazing s/o who loves him so much just as he loves them.
" I love you y/n. " Pressing a kiss through the screen he plopped down on his bed, positioning his phone on his night stand. Sighing as he eases into the blankets looking at you with eyes full of so much love.
" good night kitten.. "
You and him may be miles away but times like this we're the beating of your heart were in sync.. You can't even feel the distance between you and him.

Title: Winter Break
Fandom: Leverage
Summary: The team find themselves snowed in in a little town in the middle of nowhere.
Ch 2: Fussing - Nate has to choose between supervising a shopping spree or supervising a grumpy hitter. He definitely chooses the lesser evil.
Author’s Note: I still don’t know where this story is going or when the next update will be.
Many, many thanks to @whumpybliss for beta reading this chapter!
You can go here to read this on AO3 instead.
"I know what you're trying to do."
Eliot's glare was less impressive than usual, but Nate still would have bet his money on him. Not that he wouldn't always bet on Eliot, and with things much more valuable to him than money.
"Trying to get you to eat saltines, so you don't throw up when you take the prescription strength anti-inflammatories I know you have in your bag?" Nate waved the open sleeve of crackers in front of the hitter.
"Stop fussing," Eliot snapped and snatched the sleeve out of Nate's hand.
Now that Parker had pointed it out, Nate could clearly see Eliot was favoring his left arm. Or, possibly because Parker had pointed it out, Eliot was putting less effort into hiding it.
"They shouldn't be in there alone," Eliot pulled a few crackers out of the sleeve and shoved it back at Nate.
"They're not alone," Nate swapped the sleeve for a water bottle from the grocery bag at his feet, "they have each other. We might be living off of orange soda and Trix for the next two weeks, but I think they'll get each other out of the store in one piece."
Eliot gave him a dubious look but refrained from talking with his mouth full.
"Anyway, I'm listening," Nate tapped the comm he had slipped into his ear.
"Where's my…?" Eliot frowned and tried to reach behind the seat for his bag, wincing hard at the twisting motion.
"Stop it," Nate thumped his side lightly with the back of his hand, "I've got them. Parker hasn't managed to convince Sophie that Froot Loops are both a vegetable and a fruit. Sophie is giving her tips on being persuasive, and Hardison doesn't know the difference between a zucchini and a cucumber, but one of them has made it into the basket."
"How have they made it this far without dying of malnutrition?" Eliot let his head flop back against the headrest.
"Cereal is fortified," Nate said dryly and poked Eliot with the water bottle, "which bag are your meds in?"
"It can wait until we get to the cabin," Eliot grabbed the offending bottle away without opening his eyes.
Nate didn't have to wrangle an injured Eliot often. Most of the time, he was more than capable of managing his own injuries. When he wasn't, Nate usually let Parker take the lead in poking and prodding while he helped Hardison track down whatever medical help their hitter needed.
Parker needed to burn off some energy, though, and Nate would rather supervise a cranky Eliot than his team on a shopping spree. He had trailed Eliot through the first aid aisle, listened to him mutter over spices and knives on the baking aisle, and then dragged him back to the van with saltines and water bottles in hand.
"Just take the anti-inflammatory," Nate argued, "it won't make you drowsy, and the longer you wait, the less well they'll work."
"Stop. Fussing." Eliot growled, somehow managing to drink his water angrily. Nate was always impressed by how Eliot could make the most mundane tasks look threatening. Luckily for him and the rest of the team, Nate was not easily intimidated.
"Just for the sake of argument..." Nate started.
"No," Eliot said flatly.
"We're stuck in the car until Hardison picks a shampoo. Humor me," Nate ignored Hardison's protests over the comm about his sensitive scalp.
"They need to hurry," Eliot groused, 'the snow is getting worse."
"Right," Nate agreed and held the sleeve of saltines out to Eliot again. He was disproportionately pleased when the hitter grabbed a few more without protest, "so let's just say there really is some shadowy figure waiting behind the curtain to get us…"
Eliot raised an eyebrow at that, probably cross-checking his mental list of people who matched that description, but Nate ignored him.
"And they orchestrated stranding the five us in this specific tiny town, in the middle of nowhere, by waiting until we were both split up on five different planes, and there was a massive storm front to force our flights here…"
"Look, I know…" Eliot rubbed his eyes tiredly.
"Which is possible," Nate continued to ignore him, "highly unlikely, but possible. After all, shady figures are usually good at seizing opportunity when they see it. So let's say all of that is true. What's their next move? Where do they expect us to be?"
Eliot frowned before reluctantly admitting, "They expect us to be stranded, at the airport or one of the hotels."
"Right," Nate nodded, "and even if they somehow anticipated us renting a summer house, it would be almost impossible to control which summer house we rented. Hardison must have skimmed through a half dozen search pages worth before we went after this one."
Eliot's frown deepened as he worked the problem and thought how he would have managed something like this from the other side. Nate let him be for a minute because he was still eating crackers while he thought, seemingly without noticing.
"There are ways they could stack the deck in their favor," he finally said slowly. "Knowing what we would want in a place to lay low, making it available even though it looked unavailable, monitoring Hardison for the search criteria he was using, then populating it with multiple properties that they have control of."
"Possible," Nate conceded, "ridiculously elaborate and unnecessarily complicated, but possible."
"So, one of your plans, basically," Eliot snorted.
"I don't have the patience to wait on mother nature," Nate let the jab slide, "my point is, the best thing we can do in this situation is not be where we're most likely to be. The rest, we'll just have to deal with as it comes."
"I know that. It's just…" Eliot just looked worn out now, tired of having to run through every scenario and possibility for every given moment.
Nate had figured out fairly early on that Eliot's paranoia was rooted in both a lot of experience and a lot of trauma. It meant they would be idiots to ignore him when he said something was wrong (and Nate had, unfortunately, been that idiot on more than one occasion, although he tried not to be these days), but they also needed to be a second check on those things for him sometimes, because he could always work his way around to those perceived threats being possible, even if they weren't probable.
It had gotten a lot better over the years, and the team had gotten better at finding ways to help him deal with it when it did come up. There was never a perfect solution, but they were more than happy to settle for an imperfect one if it made things at least a little better.
"And we'll deal with everything a lot better if you just take your diclofenac," Nate cut him off again, "so what bag is it in?"
"Duffel," Eliot conceded defeat finally, "they really do need to hurry."
"I know," Nate turned around and started sifting through the bags they had tossed into the third row of seats, "they're almost done."
Parker had been sitting in the back row, and she had rearranged the luggage that hadn't fit in the trunk to make a nest of sorts for herself around the middle seat. Nate had to practically crawl over the back of the middle row to reach Eliot's duffel bag, and he only felt a little bad for messing up her carefully crafted arrangement.
Eliot carried prescription meds with him and had for as long as Nate had known him. He had worried at first about the bottle of oxi that was always packed in the hitter's personal medkit. In hindsight, he could see the hypocrisy of constantly watching Eliot for signs of opioid addiction while simultaneously getting blackout drunk on a regular basis.
It had only taken a couple months for that concern to shift from Eliot taking too many painkillers to getting Eliot to take them at all. Two years in, and Nate had been worrying about why Eliot felt like jobs would leave him in enough pain on a regular enough basis that he would need to always have that level of painkiller with him. These days, Eliot and meds were mostly a bargaining act, a give and take informed by context and where Eliot's head was at at the given moment.
Oxi made him disoriented and dizzy; he wouldn't take it if he didn't feel safe. Diclofenac made him nauseous if he didn't take it with food (sometimes even when he did). Of the two problems, that was the easier one to solve.
Nate finally managed to find Eliot's duffel bag and pulled the medkit out, tossing the bag back in the pile of luggage for Parker to rearrange and poke through to her heart's content once they got back to the van.
"You want one or two?" Nate opened the kit and sorted through the neatly labeled bottles.
"Just one," Eliot was slumped back against the headrest again, eyes closed.
"You're out of Zofran," Nate shook the empty bottle.
"I gave the last of it to Sophie when we hit that patch of turbulence on the way in for the job," Eliot said dismissively, "it's fine. I'll refill it later."
Nate handed the pill and another water bottle over to Eliot, then texted Parker and asked her to get a bottle of Zofran from the pharmacy. A little thievery would do her good after 8 hours on a plane.
Eliot took the pill, and the van went comfortably quiet aside from the rest of the team's chatter in Nate's ear. It was surprisingly relaxing to listen in on them doing something as mundane as arguing over pasta sauce and gummy frog brands. They were on the comms a lot, but during jobs, there was a certain amount of tension, the constant need to be assessing and reassessing everything that happened.
Nate didn't care what kind of pasta sauce they got, and he didn't like gummy frogs, but it was nice just to sit back and listen to them be together.
There was suddenly weight against his shoulder, and Nate held still as Eliot gradually slumped more heavily against him, eyes closed and breath even. Nate waited until he was sure he was settled before shifting to get an arm around him and stop him from sliding down too far. Eliot fidgeted in his sleep for a moment, then relaxed with a soft sigh.
It wasn't that unusual for Eliot to sleep around them, but after how keyed up he had been at the airport, having him resting solid and relaxed against his side felt like winning.

Even during Summer, with the break you have from college, there's nothing good going on. Nothing but the new pool guy, Billy, the most handsome man you ever saw. You were successfully avoiding him, not wanting to act like an idiot in front of the guy until Billy accepts to be your date for a fancy gala you're forced to attend. The night was going well, even better when he sneaked you out to go to the beach. But a gang of criminals breaks into the party, kidnapping the heirs to the wealthiest families, which includes you. So, for your safety, your parents want you to stay with Billy, living in his apartment until the criminals are caught. And that could take weeks, maybe even months.

Distance
In the morning, you tiptoe to the living room, but everything you find of Billy is a small note left on the kitchen table. He's at work and must be back by 5 or 6 pm. He said you can make something for lunch, and that he'll bring dinner. So, now that you're alone, you can't help but think. The names of those who died to keep playing back, and Gisele's is the one that comes louder. You feel bad for all the times you were mean to her, when you left her talking alone, storming away. But it's useless to feel this way now. It won't bring her back.
You're pacing around the living room, the news channel on, as they repeat the same things over and over. When you put both hands on your head, out of desperation, you feel as Billy's shirt lifts a little, exposing your thighs. And you realize you'll need clothes. And all your personal stuff. “Ame.” You mutter, going to the phone and calling home. As usual, it's Amelia who answers, and she squeals, happy to know you're fine. After telling her everything that happened and where you'll be staying, you start giving the instructions. Well, she's the one to point out what you'll need and how to cover up who you are.
The goal is to remain hidden, but you won't be stuck inside the apartment. So you need to look different, and for that, Amelia advises you to buy new clothes, normal clothes, instead of using the ones you have. And she kindly offers to buy everything you'll need and bring them over later today. She'll also bring all of your personal stuff. And money. Amelia tells you to keep some money with you, in case you need it. You're not sure what for, but you agree.
She gets here after lunch, with three huge pieces of baggage, and she helps you drag them to Billy's bedroom. Then, after you change out of Billy's shirt, she shows off the last part of her plan. Amelia wants to dye your hair and cut off a few inches. You don't think it's necessary, but she's worried about the situation, and for the sake of the woman who raised you, you let her do it. Once she's done, she helps you clean the bathroom before leaving, giving you a tight hug and asking you to keep in touch and be careful.
Then the rest of the day is pretty boring. You do give some trips to the bathroom, just to check the hair. It's nice having your natural color back, but you never thought it would be in these circumstances.
You're watching the news again, seating on the couch, when the door opens. Turning your head, you give Billy a small smile. When his eyes find you, he furrows his eyebrows. It takes a while for you to understand why the confused expression.
“Oh! It was Amelia.” Quickly, you explain, standing on your feet and noticing the pizza he brought. “I called her and she helped me get some stuff done and well...” You gesture at your hair. “I've been bleaching it since Elementary school so I bet nobody will recognize me now. Amelia is probably the only one who remembers my natural color but... This is it.” You're speaking too much, and maybe a little too fast, but you're not sure why. “What do you think?”
He squints his eyes, moving to put the pizza on the table. “I think you're already planning on going out.” Well, obviously. He can't possibly expect you to stay locked up in here.
“I was talking about the hair, but ok.” Shrugging your shoulders, you gesture at the pizza. “Can I eat it?”
“Yeah. I'll take a shower.”
“I'll wait for you then.”
“Alright.” Billy stands there for a few seconds, awkwardly, before walking to the bedroom. “The hair is good, by the way.”
“Thanks.” You mutter, smiling a little.
“(Y/N)!” He calls out suddenly, startling you. “Why is there a bag full of money on my bed?”
“Oh!” Rushing to his bedroom, you find a very confused Billy. You left the dark blue bag on the edge of the bed, and you completely forgot about it. “Amelia said I should have money with me, just in case I need it.” Running a hand through your hair, you sigh. “But, uhm, if you need or want to buy something, you can, I mean... It's fifty-seven thousand dollars.” Reaching out inside that bag, you take one of the many piles. “Every pile has one thousand... So if I fall and break a bone you can use it to pay the hospital.
“Break a bone? Should I worry about that?”
“Just trying to light up the mood.” Giggling, you glance at him. “I won't jump from the window or anything. And those are my things.” You gesture, at the pieces of luggage. “Amelia got me new clothes. Normal clothes, not the expensive ones my mother makes me buy.”
“Amelia has everything figured out.”
“She does... I'll let you do your stuff.” Nodding to yourself, you walk away. You can't help but feel a little weird with all this, and the sensation of being nothing but a bother to Billy is starting to kick in.
You patiently wait for him, watching the news again. And the content of the tape was finally made known. And it's not good. Everyone was expecting a normal rescue. They'd say how much they want, get paid, and let the kids go. But apparently, that's not how it'll be.
“(Y/N).” The mention of your name startles you, your heart skipping a beat, and that's when you notice how focused you were. “Everything alright?”
“No.” You breathe out as Billy turns the TV off. “They have thirteen kids, right? It means they want thirteen parts. They'll let the media know how much, and when they get paid, they'll release one. Whoever they want. It doesn't mean that the Whaylands will get James out if they pay up.”
“These guys know what they're doing.” Billy looks down, thoughtful. “This will create chaos between the families.”
“Yeah... I'm even glad I'm stuck here because I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that mess.” Standing from the couch, you move to the kitchen table. “Can I?”
“Sure.”
Drumming your fingers on the table, you sit down, thinking about everyone they got. Alice, James, Daniel. Melissa, Candace. Michael, Antony, and Ryan. There are more... But you can't remember. Where are they now? Are they hungry? Are they being treated nicely? You doubt it. By the violence those men showed, they're not being nice. It could've been you, who knows where now, maybe starving, terrified... They're not your friends. They're just people you know, but still, you want them all back, alive and well. You want to hug them, to talk to them again, even if it means being part of their superficial conversations. You just want to have the chance to.
“Hey,” Billy calls, and you snap out of your thoughts, noticing you were biting your lip too harshly. “You ok?”
“Yeah.” Muttering, you take a slice of pizza, taking a bite.
“What did you have for lunch?” The question comes in a careful tone. Low and steady. He knows what you're thinking about.
But you can't answer it. It only hits you now that you haven't eaten anything all day, and the pain in your stomach is only surrendering because you're eating now. So you clear your throat, giving Billy a look. “Uhm... I haven't.”
“What?” He puts his slice down, a serious face on. “Couldn't you find anything you like?”
“That's not it I... I was watching the news all day and the police did next to nothing.” Gesturing at the TV, you sigh. “And I just can't understand how those big ass vans just disappeared into the night. It's just... One of the three people who were in the hospital died. Five of those working in the kitchens died in the explosion. They found the bodies today, and I just... I just wasn't hungry...” Maybe you should just say the last part. Billy doesn't need to know how desperate you feel.
“(Y/N), you gotta eat. What would your father say if he knew–”
“Billy, I need you to stop thinking about my father.” Cutting him off, you push some of your hair back, out of your face. He has to stop doing that. You don't want to be a job, you don't want him to see you as someone he has to look after. “What? Do you think I'll give him daily reports on my routine?” Making a pause, you take another bite, now a little annoyed. When you swallow it down, you stare at Billy again. “Day one. I woke up in Billy's bed, wearing one of his shirts. He left a cute note. I spent the whole day watching the news, freaking out a little, crying a little. Them Billy came back and brought me pizza.” You make sure to sound as annoyed as you feel. “Day two...”
“Maybe you should do that.” He says, those blue eyes locked on yours. Why is he staring at you like that, so intensely? Is he doing that thing again, trying to understand you? Because he always succeeds.
“Maybe you're crazy.” Shaking your head, you focus on the pizza again, silently finishing your slice. It might be so weird for him. Billy doesn't bring girls here, and here you are, invading his private life, stealing his bed. “The bed is yours today.”
“Alright.”
“Yeah...” As you take a second slice, you remember the gala. From the moment he picked you up until right before the explosion. It was easy talking to Billy, you didn't have to think before speaking. It was... Good. Effortless. You couldn't stop smiling, and you did wish you could hang out with him more. You felt free from all the rules and regulations, finally able to be someone genuine. Not the fake version you present to people.
But now... It's weird, uncomfortable. You did expect it to change as the days go by, but it didn't.
You started to count, obviously. Day three, day four... And it only got worse, if that's even possible. He always brings something to dinner, and you eat silently on the kitchen table, only to sit on the couch for a while, as far from the other as possible, and watch TV in silence. It's like two strangers sharing a roof, and you slowly give up the idea of this being something good. It isn't. Billy doesn't want you here, that's pretty clear. And it got even more obvious after the weekend. You told him he could go out if he wanted to, but he didn't. And it was just the same. Few words were spoken, a cold distance kept. He's like someone else entirely, not the same Billy from the beach.
And on the eighth day, you had enough. So you wait for Billy to go to bed, since it's his turn, and wait an hour before tiptoeing to the phone. Amelia is the only one you can talk to, whose advice you trust. So you call the private line she keeps in her bedroom, nervously biting your lip as you wait for her to pick up.
“Hello. Who's this?”
“Ame. It's me.” You whisper, giving the hall a look before turning around, leaning against the wall. “I'm sorry to call so late but I needed to talk.”
“Of course, honey. You know you can call me whenever you need.” When you were at the house, you used to bug her even late at night when you needed help, or just to rant about something. She was always there. “What's going on?”
“Uhm... Ame, this... This isn't working. Living with Billy is... Complicated.”
“Why?” You hear something in the back, maybe a glass being put down. “I remember you were getting along just fine since the day he saved you from drowning.” She giggles. “I saw you going around with him, laughing and chatting.”
Sighing, you shake your head a little. It was different back then. You don't know how, but you know it was. “Yeah, but he just... It just...” Damn it. Of all people you know, if you had to pick someone to do this, as crazy and insane as it is, you'd pick Billy. In any other house, those mansions, you'd have to act on your best behavior, participate in those formal rites for every meal, be always polite and kind. Here, you thought it would be better. You thought you'd have fun, as you used to on those days, with funny comments and quick remarks. Now... You don't know. “Billy doesn't want me here.” You burst out, keeping your voice low.
“Why do you think that?”
“He's just... Distant. Cold.” Why does it bother you so much? The Billy you met before was the one treating you as his boss. One of the owners of one of the houses he works on. What did you think? That he'd keep the act? “I'm an inconvenience. He's just doing that because my father will pay him in the end and no, I have no idea why it bothers me so much, but I just... I thought it'd at least be nice, but it isn't so...”
“(Y/N), Billy is a guy. I'm sure he's just making sure you don't feel uncomfortable.” She speaks slow, and you start bouncing your leg nervously.
“Amelia, I don't want him to fall in love with me, ok? I just thought we'd become friends or something like that.” The words come out fast, and you're a little pissed. “Billy doesn't want me here.” You repeat.
“Why does it bother you so much?”
“Because I had a nice time with him.” You burst out, throwing your free hand in the air. “He's so different from the idiots I'm surrounded by. I don't have to fake it, I can just say the stupid things that come to my head and I never had anyone I could be myself with. And God, I was so stupid to think this would be fun, or...” Taking a deep breath, your voice fades as you collect your thoughts. Moving from the wall, you start pacing around. “I'll just look for some apartment to rent, Ame. I don't want to be–” The sentence is cut short when you see a figure standing by the end of the table. Your eyes go wide, a hand on your heart as you recognize Billy, arms crossed, his eyes on you. “Ame, I'll have to go. Talk to you tomorrow?”
“Alright, honey. Try talking to Billy before making any decisions.”
“Ok. Good night.” You mumble before hanging up. Swallowing hard, you step back, leaning against the countertop. “Did you... Hear anything?” That's a stupid question, of course he did. He wouldn't be looking so pissed if he didn't. But it doesn't matter. This gotta be over soon, so you both will feel better.
“From the very beginning.” He says, tilting his head at the phone. “Heard you talking to someone and decided to check.”
“Ok.” Nodding to yourself, you look down at your feet. “I was thinking and I believe it will better if I look for some place I can rent around here. But don't worry, I won't tell my father so you'll still be paid.” As you speak, you make your way back to the couch, but Billy grabs your arm, forcing you to stop.
“So you think I don't want you here,” Billy mutters, his face lit up by the bluish light coming from the TV. He's gorgeous, so gorgeous that it's hard to say something to his face.
“That's crystal clear, Billy.” Giving your arm a pull, he let it go. “You said it yourself, you don't bring girls to your place and you were forced into having me here and I totally get that you don't like it.” Turning your back at him, you sit on the couch, eyes on the TV, but not paying any attention.
“You got it wrong.”
“I don't think so.”
“I just...” He makes a pause, so long it makes you look up at him. “I'm trying to give you some space.”
“Well, you gave me so much space it actually feels like I'm living alone.” Angrily, you move to lie down, fixing the blanket on your legs. “It'll better if I just move out.”
“Listen, I know you don't like this place.” Billy turns the TV off, and if it wasn't for the dim light coming from the street, you'd be in complete darkness. “It's tiny, your bedroom is bigger than this apartment.”
“How could you possibly know that?”
“Remember when the railing of your balcony was broken by a storm? I fixed it.”
You remember it. There was a huge summer storm, and a branch was ripped from a nearby tree, knocking down half of your railing. When you came back home on the next day, it was fixed. But you'd never guess it was Billy. “Thanks.”
“You don't have to thank me for doing my job.”
“Goddamn it, Billy.” Kicking the blankets away, you stand up. “Stop treating me like some rich chick! Stop putting words in my mouth and stop saying I can't thank you for doing something!” You're yelling, despite the late hour. The neighbors won't like it. “You never asked me what I think about your place so you can't possibly know if I like it or not. And yes, thank you for fixing my railing, thank you for keeping my pool clean, for cleaning the leaves, for... Hell, for sheltering me! But it's getting tiring. I thought you'd treat me like a normal girl like you did on the beach, but I get it now that it was just an act so I'll just leave.” That said, you're already in motion, not sure why. But you're unlocking the door and storming out, furious, easily finding the stairs and rushing down.
“(Y/N)!” Ignoring Billy, you don't stop, wiping some tears that escaped when you push the building doors open, the fresh night air making your breath in deeply.
You're overwhelmed. There's nothing new about the kidnappings. The criminals asked two million dollars for the first kid, but that was it. The police can't seem to get any closer to finding them, and the same goes to the many private investigators on the case. And the only good thing that came out of this shit, being with the only person on Earth with who you felt like you could be yourself, backfired. You feel stupid, deceived. Walking down the sidewalk, you roll your eyes when you hear the building doors banging, quickening your pace.
“(Y/N).”
“You wanted to give me space. Then give me some freaking space.” Your voice is cracking, which only makes you feel more like an idiot.
“Alright. I'm sorry, ok?” He raises his voice, and soon enough he's grabbing your arm. But you push him away until he let it go. “I shouldn't assume you would turn out to be like the other girls. You're not like any of the rich kids I met.”
“You don't have to do it now. You made everything very clear.”
“Would you listen?” Billy furrows his eyebrows, stepping back, a hand on his head. “I have this habit of expecting the worse, it always kept me from being caught with the guard down. But I'll admit I was wrong about you.” Avoiding his gaze, you pace around, not sure if you want to believe it. “I had a nice time with you too. That was the worst party I've ever been to, but it was good to know there's someone from their world who isn't completely rotten on the inside.”
You don't know why but the insult makes you giggle. But it's only because he's right. The fact that they're being held hostage doesn't change how some of those people are mean and rude. Their situation doesn't change who they are. And, being born into what Billy called ‘their world’, made you see the worst side of everyone. Money corrupts weak minds, you've seen it. The more they have, the more they want.
“Fine then...” Finally turning to face him, you sigh. “What now?”
Billy reaches out his hand, and you look at it, not moving yet. “First, let's get inside. You're in pajamas in the middle of the sidewalk.”
That makes you laugh, looking down and taking in the leggings and the baggy shirt you're wearing which leaves one of your shoulders exposed. “My mother would literally squeal if she saw me now.”
“She doesn't have to know.” That makes you smile even more, and you feel like you just got a glimpse of the Billy you were with at the beach. So you take his hand, breathing in, and letting him guide you back inside.

sleeping in the same room with buck is proving to be extremely annoying to eddie because at 2am, they'll be trying to sleep and buck will randomly start singing this is halloween from the damn nightmare before christmas and it's the middle of fucking june, and the only way eddie can get him to stop is to kiss him (for the first time)
“Wait, what do you mean you’ve never seen Toy Story?”
Eddie’s voice is in a weird balance of shock and accusatory, the tone making Buck squirm a little on the couch. Chris had all but conned (well, not really, Buck was just a sucker who didn’t know how to say no) Buck and Eddie into a movie night to start off what was affectionately being called ‘birthday week’.
After all, it wasn’t every day that your kid turned ten. Double digits were a big deal—Buck may not know the Toy Story, but even he knows that.
“I don’t know, no? We weren’t really a Disney family growing up.”
“How is that possible?? You’re basically a Disney prince!”
Eddie has that look on his face, the one he gets whenever Buck tells him something that he thought was normal about his childhood—it’s a combination of sad, and desperate, and a little angry, though Buck can’t figure out why—but he has figured out that defending his childhood doesn’t usually go as well as he hoped.
(“I had food and shelter. What more could I ask for?” Buck asks, one particularly exasperating night, after Eddie gives him that look again. Eddie’s response is so soft, Buck almost misses the “So much more.”)
So they watch Toy Story. It’s not a bad movie, at least. It’s... nicely made. He definitely doesn’t feel his entire body tighten up as the toys strap themselves to a rocket and race after a moving truck. And in no way does he breathe a sigh of relief when they fall through the sunroof.
The movie was nice, but the bet part of the evening is, by far, Chris falling asleep against his arm. It didn’t register immediately—he just put his arm around Chris instinctively to keep him comfortable—but as the credits roll, Buck can’t help but smile as he looks down. Somewhere in between gently pulling Chris’ glasses off and scooping the little man into his arms, he catches Eddie’s gaze, and he actually feels his breath catch in his throat.
Because the look on Eddie’s face fills Buck with want. Buck’s seen it before—the soft, dreamy look that Eddie gets more often than not when Buck and Chris interact with one another—but lately, he’s been noticing it more and more, when Chris is nowhere around, at work, on calls, when they’re just hanging out, and it’s dangerous enough that Buck catches himself seeking it out.
Which is a terrible idea, really, one that would only end poorly for him.
Buck clears his throat to break the spell, nodding to the crutches that Chris left by the couch as Eddie jumps up. “Wanna grab those, and we can get little man to bed?”
Eddie doesn’t know when Chris and Buck fell so in synch with one another, but it lifted a weight on his heart that he didn’t even know was there, knowing that even though Chris didn’t trust easily, he could still trust those that deserved it. He followed Buck’s lead as they got to his room, and had to literally grab onto the doorframe to steady himself as Buck tucked Chris in and kissed his forehead.
Wishing Buck a goodnight was never easy, but somehow that night was harder than it had ever been. Eddie wanted to reach out, to tell him to wait, to stay, but all he could do was swallow and smile and wave when Buck pulled out of the driveway.
--
Unfortunately, fires did not wait for birthday weeks, and Eddie and Buck were both stuck on an overnight shift a few days later. The beginning of the shift had started out easily enough—back to back calls could keep anyone busy—but Buck felt himself lagging as the night wore on.
Around three AM, Eddie swooped in and saved him, as he had a knack of doing. Pulling Buck into the media room, he all but dragged him over to the couch, picking a DVD off of the shelf and putting it in as he claimed his space next to Buck. As soon as the Disney castle became clear in the opening credits, Buck snorted, turning toward Eddie as he rose his brow.
“Hey, don’t shoot the messenger. Chris said Disney would be good for you. If I don’t at least try to fill this apparently horrendous gap in your life, I’m not sure he’ll ever speak to me again.” Eddie said defensively, raising his hands in surrender as Buck laughed. It was always nice to know that Eddie was a full grown man who was so totally bent to the whims of his son.
More dads could be like that, Buck thought.
He had to admit, though, he definitely didn’t expect what was coming next. While Toy Story had been emotional, the Lion King was kind of a fucking wreck, hitting him with sucker punches left and right in the first half hour of the movie.
“What the fuck.” Buck actually found himself whispering as the dust cleared, only to be confronted with Mufasa’s whole fucking corpse, because apparently that passed for okay in a G rated kids movie in the 90′s. “Eddie, what the actual fuck!” he said again as Simba entered the scene, not entirely proud of how his voice cracked.
Eddie must have heard it too, because the movie was immediately paused, Eddie giving him a concerned once-over before he had to actually hide a smile, the bastard. “Eddie, it’s not funny! This is fucked up! How is this a kids movie!” Buck hissed, reaching out to shove Eddie’s shoulder. Eddie did laugh at that, even if it was a quiet one, and Buck found himself smiling in spite of himself.
“You want me to continue the movie, or do you need a break?” Eddie teased, but Buck could see it for what it was, an easy out. Waving his hand as he wiped at his cheeks, he sunk deeper into the couch, watching as the scene continued. He didn’t realize how close he had been to Eddie until the other male spoke, voice low in the darkness. “You know, whenever something like this gets to Christopher, he usually lets me hold his hand... just a thought.”
Buck almost laughed at the absurdity of the offer until he turned and faced Eddie head on, the words dying in his throat as he saw just how... soft Eddie looked. The trace of teasing was long since gone, the only proof that he had spoken were the way his lips were slightly parted, and Buck felt color rise in his cheeks once again as he shrugged.
“Well... I suppose that would be alright. If you do it for Chris, anyway.” he murmured, letting himself move a little closer to Eddie, their shoulders and arms flush against the soft fabric of the cushion beneath them. He felt a shiver dance along his spine as Eddie gently brushed his thumb over Buck’s wrist, never breaking eye contact, and Buck could feel himself drawn in, moving in closer, until—
—until he jumped about a foot in the air as the siren went off, awake and more high-strung than ever as Eddie doubled over laughing.
(The call was a false alarm—and as annoying as that was, when they got back to the firehouse and finished the movie, Eddie didn’t let go of him until they were off the clock that morning. So, Buck reasoned, it wasn’t all bad.)
--
Chris had all but begged to have a sleepover the night before his birthday, and who was Buck to say no?
Granted, he thought that Chris would be inviting his friends over, like, friends from school, and not just Buck, but... that was fine by him.
(Eddie was a gracious host, at least—he seemed to realize how weird Chris’ request was, and he had given Buck about ten outs at work before Buck had easily shut him up. They had been... flirting? For lack of a better word, for the past few days, and Buck wasn’t afraid to use that to his advantage.
“Eddie, are you telling me you don’t want me to come over and stay the night?” he asked, a grin spreading on his face as Eddie blushed, he actually blushed, and just like that, Buck knew he won that conversation.)
He figured he may as well move up the ranks in Chris’ friend group, so he showed up with pizza and soda, depositing his winnings onto the kitchen counter before joining his Diaz boys on the couch. “Alright, nearly birthday boy, what’s the movie pick for tonight?” he said with a grin, the juxtaposition of Chris’ answering smile and Eddie’s near grimace catching him for a loop.
“Nightmare Before Christmas!” Chris almost shouted, as Eddie let out a sigh. “It’s his favorite movie.” he explained, making sure that Chris was looking forward before mouthing “I hate it.” Buck only barely managed to catch his laugh as he sat beside the pair, pizza at the ready.
The movie wasn’t bad, honestly, but even then Buck could absolutely understand how Eddie suffered through the movie whenever Chris demanded. The kid was absolutely entrapped in the entire movie, from skeleton to Santa Claus (”Sandy Claws”, Chris corrected, and Eddie actually groaned).
One good thing, though, was that the movie was short.
The bad thing about the movie was that meant Chris could ask to watch it again, and neither Buck nor Eddie could find it in their heart to say no.
The other bad thing—the worst thing, even—was that no matter how hard Buck tried, even as Chris was tucked in and read to, he could not get some of the fucking songs out of his head. He didn’t know the words. Hell, he barely knew the tune. But that didn’t stop him from humming as he and Eddie got ready for bed.
They were no strangers to sharing a bed—when you were on a twenty four hour shift, you slept where you could, and if that meant sharing a bed, it meant sharing a bed. At the very least, Eddie didn’t have a twin sized bunk. Buck also wasn't a stranger to death threats, which Eddie was full of the longer that Buck hummed.
“Buck, please.” Eddie groaned, one hand reaching over to smack Buck on the chest. “You’re cute and all, and I love how much you’re enjoying your Disney binge and I love that you’re having a good time but if you don’t shut up right now and get some sleep I will actually kill you.”
Needless to say, it works, though probably not for the reasons Eddie intended. Buck can almost feel Eddie drifting off again beside him when he clears his throat—ignoring Eddie’s groan—as he says “You think I’m cute, huh?”
Buck actually felt Eddie freeze for a minute before he rolled over, and the smug grin on Bucks’ face only grew as he came face to face with a scowling Eddie.
“Yeah, I do. You got a problem with that?”
Buck’s smirk softened into an outright beaming grin, only encouraged as Eddie started to smile back at him. He brought his hand up to Eddie’s hip as they both moved closer together—Buck let his eyes close as he tugged Eddie chest to chest—and then they were kissing.
It was soft, and it was sweet, and it was perfect.
The best part, though was the blush that was painted across Eddie’s cheeks when Buck opened his eyes. He brought his hand up from Eddie’s hip to his cheek, stroking it with his thumb. Eddie was cute as fuck, and that was undeniable, but... Buck couldn’t help himself.
He brought Eddie back into another kiss, painfully—unpleasantly—aware that a kiss was about as far as they would be able to go tonight, with an impatient Chris in the next room.
That might have been part of the reason that Buck decided to open his mouth—the other reason was probably because he was a child at heart, and nothing would ever change that.
“You’re blushing, you’re blushing! I can’t believe my eyes.”
Eddie actually beamed for a moment, before realization clicked on his face, and he shoved Buck away, groaning as he covered his face with his hands.
“Buck, oh my GOD.”
