@laurfilijames and @middleearthpixie both asked me, so here is to the both of you. Thank you so much for the wonderful ask.

My all-time favorite is my first published story Art and Vampires - New Orleans. It is the introduction to Mitchell the vampire and Amy (Ames) my OC.

And it's so hard to choose between other stories. I just like all my Mitchell's diaries stories a lot, the shorter one-shots. It's just great to get a glimpse of what Mtichell is thinking or to read about his history. And I loved turning them into podfics as well. I mean, it's not Richard Armitage level of narrating, but it's fun to do. I posted the podfic Autumn Reflections. The rest will follow.

I think I need to mention So Fucking Hot here as well. A steamy Daniel Miller fic, which a lot of people seemed to enjoy ...👀

I also love Art and Vampires - Oxford. I love the background story of Rick we get to hear in that one and the description and history of the city and library. I love doing research and put actual historical facts in my stories.

And I'll close off with one of my Rick fics, just called Rick. Rick is a bit of a mystery. We haven't heard a whole lot about him yet, but the snippets we get are interesting. They are glimpses from his past. And I'm cheating now, if I wasn't already, but I love that the story Moon and Stars was inspired by a song. Songs are great to base stories on or build stories around.

So there you are. I love my own stories and yes, I'm saying this out loud. I'm proud of my work and I love sharing them with others and the few reactions I do get to the stories make me so happy. It really encourages me to write more or to narrate more of my stories.

Thorn in Your Side

If there are worse ways to spend a day than being sliced to ribbons while being Dr. Phil’d by the King of Hell, Sam can’t think of any.

This one was an absolute blast to write. I thought I’d have difficulty finding Crowley’s voice, but it actually came fairly readily. I’m not sure what that says about me.

Man-in-the-middle

Sam hears the driver’s side door open, hears footsteps approaching. He remembers that Dean still has Ruby’s demon-killing blade.

My second fic ever, a voice-mail fixit. I think these are a rite of passage for SPN fic writers. I love the blood imagery and the transitions in Sam’s thought processes.

Threshold

Dean is forced to come to terms with his relationship with alcohol. There are people who want to help him, if he's willing to accept it.

This one was a tough subject to tackle and not something I ever would have thought of writing on my own. I’m glad I got this prompt.

Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc

Sam waits, kneeling, for his execution.

What if Dean hadn't missed?

This one was another challenge. There was a tumblr thread with people saying how they wished SPN had gone through with Dean killing Sam, and no one took up my double-dog dare to actually write it. I finally lost patience and did it myself.

Thick as a Brick

In the days following Dean being cured of the Mark of Cain, Dean is fine. Sam isn't.

This was one where it felt like someone else was typing the story through my fingers. It’s my go-to comfort fic when I need to read a ‘brothers’ story that isn’t schmoopy.

Honorable mention: Convergence

Sam wakes up after his wall breaks.

This one is done in a very experimental, stream-of-consciousness style. It was a major risk, and I’m glad I took it.

Don't Be a Stranger

written for ladynoir july 2023 prompt "in every universe." this one was fun for me as i got to sort of reverse ladynoir's dynamic and make her chase him (totally platonically ofc) in a world where she just randomly shows up one day knowing everything about him.

summary

Chat Noir has been fighting Chrysalide alone for years when one day, Ladybug appears. She seems to already know him, and is a little too eager to be friends. But the more she pushes for her and Chat Noir to reveal their identities, the harder she is to trust.

She was red from head to boot, spots black as her hair decorating the material of her suit and dotting her mask like ink drops. She looked like she was dressed up as a watermelon for a children’s theater show, and when she pulled back to beam at him, it was with a grin of manic joy. “It’s me!” the girl said, laughing. “Ladybug!” Chat Noir gaped at her, too stunned to notice the approaching pulse of light bearing down from overhead. But then the girl—Ladybug—tackled him to the ground once more, and they rolled to safety behind a row of cars. When he looked up, the remains of the cobbled street where they’d been standing moments before were scorched black. “Do I know you?” Chat Noir asked, turning to look at her. Ladybug’s smile rapidly deflated.

this one was written for the ladrien june 2023 prompt "panic attack." i felt a bit out of my depth writing ladrien since i'm not normally a ladrien writer. however i did find a way to work and that was basically by making it about chat noir lol!

Water shone on her skin, upon her mask, collecting in her eyes like the glint of moonlight just beyond the clouds.  “Ladybug,”  Adrien said slowly, raising his hands in surrender. “It’s okay.” “It didn’t work,” she gasped. “He’s not here. He should’ve come back!”

i swear i'm getting back to this one. i haven't abandoned it, it's just other wips get in the way! maybe adrien's curse has been passed onto me ahaha. anyways it's very teen romcom and i love this fic. it has a special place in my heart <3

When Chat Noir activates the curse of the Black Cat Miraculous, he must get a kiss from Ladybug to break the spell. If only they weren't sworn enemies, he might have better luck. An “enemies” AU, but fun :) featuring the PV kiss plot

“Lucky Charm,” she said cheerfully, catching the red-and-black spotted cushion in her hand as it fell.  Chat Noir sighed, raising his hand unenthusiastically. “Cataclysm,” he said, all his gusto deflating as inky blackness swirled into being over his palm.  She took a step back, eyeing his hand. Though he had never directed a Cataclysm at her, the crackle of his power turned the air electric. Her down pillow was a mere toy in comparison.   “You know what, buginette?” Chat said casually, and though the way he shifted slightly away was subtle, it served to lower her nerves just a fraction. “This is getting old. Instead of fighting, you should give me your your Miraculous, and I can finally take you out on a—” Ladybug gripped Chat Noir’s opposite forearm, yanking him forward and using the momentum to tug him into a flip. He landed hard on the pavement, wincing as he twisted his arm to avoid infecting the street with his power. She would have felt bad if he didn’t immediately look up with his bottom lip protruding in a pout.

what makes a monster

part of the reason i love how this whole series turned out is because i think i nailed the characterizations. also, this was written pre s-4 finale, so if you read it now you'll get to see all the predictions i got right!

An Akumatized victim steals Gabriel Agreste's wedding band. When Shadow Moth turns up, desperate to obtain the ring, Ladybug and Chat Noir decide to Cataclysm it.

one does not love breathing

my personal favorite, not just because i really like how it turned out, but because this is what catapulted me headfirst into fandom and how i got to meet so many of my friends <3 it was also great for my own self-confidence as a writer!

People jostled them as they walked by, trying to get photos of the statue or drop mementos at its feet, but neither Marinette or Alya moved.  “I’ve always wondered,” Alya said, almost certain this was the wrong time to ask. “Did you love—?” “Don’t.”   Alya bit back the reply, and Marinette wrapped her arms around herself. She leaned her head back, closing her eyes, lines tight around her mouth as she spoke. “Just…don’t.”

In no particular order, my top five!

1. Himbo Noodle Soup for the Soul - this one was fun and I absolutely did not take it seriously while writing it. I love my 501st boys!

2. You Hold the Stars and My Heart - my first Rex fic! I had originally planned on it being Fives but I now definitely think Rex was the better choice.

3. The First Cracks - this was my first short fic about Avery and I’m loving establishing her back story. I already have a few more ideas rolling around for her but this is 👌🏻

4. In Case of Panic, Hug Your Clone - this was my first Kix fic and it started me down the path of Kix love 💖 and I really loved the prompt I used for it

5. Rewriting The Stars - I just really like this one lol. 🤷🏼‍♀️

:D my 5 favorite fics that I've written?? okay.

"It's No Secret" - Hinata returns to Konoha after 5 years studying abroad in the Moon Kingdom. She just wants to enjoy her last year of high school as a normal girl, but blossoming love forces her to confront her future. (Rated M). - My baby fish. A high school AU for which I was really trying all different kinds of things and making all kinds of mistakes, finding my writing style. As a fanfic writer newbie, I felt so free to do whatever I wanted! Every scene for me was gripping, and I was so immersed in the world I was trying to create. It has an original, lengthy plot that I still hope to finish one day!!! I love this fic just because it was so instrumental to helping me improve. It's definitely NOT my best work, but from the first chapter to the most recently published chapter, my growth in writing is so apparent. All of the comments I got on it, even the ones that criticized, were encouraging for me and I cherish those readers who've followed my fics since then 💞

"Nightdreams" - Naruto and Hinata find comfort in each other after the war. (Rated E). - The easiest multi-chapter fic to write. Ever. Since then, I've never had quite as much fun writing a fic (I think Catskin came close). Certainly never as easy a time. "Nightdreams" had its moments of growth for me for sure, though, like the mission chapter, the argument chapter, all of the smut! It had its challenges, but the story flowed so easily, from beginning to end. I think there were only a couple of small writer's blocks. Overall, "Nightdreams" easily takes fave #2 just because it was so fun, and I think readers can tell that I really enjoyed writing it.

"Awkward Jocks" - She knows that if he were to ever ask her out, she would accept in a heartbeat. After all, he's the star quarterback and basketball player. Plus, she's liked him since...forever. But when her home phone rings, and he's on the other line, she hangs up. (Rated G). - The sweet and funny love story based off of my ex-coworker's life...bittersweet now, don't remember if I shared on Tumblr why. But I wrote this fic full of my love for her, so it takes the spot for fave #3.

"About You" - A summer job at the Dole pineapple cannery, graveyard shift 10 PM to 6 AM. A long bus ride into and out of town. Two teens, shy beside each other. (Rated G). - One of my most personal fanfics, though many of them are super personal. This is possibly the MOST personal because it's slightly based off of my parents' stories, I set it on my home island, and I experimented with writing the dialogue in pidgin. The only reason it's not higher on my list is because I somehow feel like I didn't do as good a job on it as I would have liked. It's like, the cultural/historical details are not accurate enough for me. But this is definitely a fic I wrote for myself, and it's been a joy to see other people love it, too.

"Matcha" from "Shared Vows" - Naruto calls Hiashi "father" for the first time. (Rated T). - ooooh it was a toss-up between this one or "Finally Home" from "Shared Vows," but I decided on "Matcha" as my fave #5. I love how I framed this fic, its ending reversing the beginning, and I somehow managed to communicate exactly what I wanted to say about Naruto's new family. This fic gives me such feel-good vibes, and I'm so glad it captured the feelings I felt.

I know that my personal faves do not align with readers' personal faves. Except for maybe "Nightdreams" haha. That one is easy to love. I know people loved "White Lilies," "Friend of Mine," "Tell Me of Forevers," and "Undercover," ...those exhibit some of my best technical writing, so I'm glad readers recognized that effort! My personal faves have more sentimental value, I guess, so that's what makes them special to me.

This whole series is so stupid and I wrote half of them on various days at midnight on my phone. Dkdjdkskslsoa. Izuku causing problems and both Shouta and Toshi suffering psychic damage is so important to me actually <3

2. Adsumus

Gotta write more of this but it is so silly and I have so many worldbuilding notes for it and fuck do I love worldbuilding. Plus I get to make Bakugo suffer when it isn’t even his fault and that is hilarious.

1. AFO’s Subpar Parenting AU

Skdjdksksksoaloa this is my magnum opus. My most Fic. The fic I have put the most work into. The one I think about and have been thinking about for some years. It is The Fic to me.

In no particular order:

Once Was Lost - The start of it all. I still “enjoy” the feeling that the inevitable approach to the gallows gives.

To Tame A Tiger - We are all miss Blaseball, RIV, and all that. I wasn’t as active as I would’ve liked, but I’m still proud of this piece, and how it gives a bit of character to an underrepresented player.

Future Past - While Once Was Lost is the start of things, this is where a little of the meat of the story starts coming into play.

Pulling Loose The Threads - Escalation is the name of the game here, and shows a solid link to the established canon, which I’m always wary about doing.

Holiday In Eorzea - Not just a Dead Kennedys reference! This is easily the most ambitious thing I’ve written to date, and it’s far from over. The sad thing in my mind is that it comes after a lot of other parts that are yet to be written. But sometimes, stories have their time and demand it.

Of course! I'm actually really glad you asked this because I've been in such an odesta phase lately. Here are some of my current favorites.

Below the Surface by deathmallow - This is a cool oneshot focusing on Annie and Finnick pre-relationship. It's well written and offers some great outsider POV, so I'd definitely suggest checking it out. This author has a ton of great THG work, a lot of which features odesta.

The Finish Line by voidshade - This is a great one that focuses on Finnick's time as a new victor. Because of how early it takes place, it doesn't actually feature Annie, although I think it will eventually. I love how this one highlights Finnick's youth and his transition from a teenager to what we see in canon.

The Kindling by perilearring - This is another one that takes place while Finnick is young. This fic tells the story of his Games, and although it's still in the early stages, I'm really liking it so far. Odesta is tagged as a relationship so I think that's something we can expect to see later on. This one really captures the writing style of the original trilogy.

Exit Light, Enter Night by grumkin_snark - This is a short one that really highlights the tragedy of Finnick's life. I would definitely recommend checking out the author's other odesta works, because I love them so much. They're all so well written and pretty iconic, in my opinion.

The Moment I Knew by wisteriawall - I love this one, it's so sweet. There's definitely an undercurrent of sadness running through it, but the ending is so poignant and hopeful. I also love the other odesta works from this author.

It Takes a (Victor's) Village by sakurasencha - I'd seen this one around before but I only recently read it, and it was so worth it. This is just so funny and sweet, it brings such a welcome levity to a dark story. I enjoyed every minute of reading this and I think any odesta fan should give it a try.

Like the Tides by Indefatigable - If you're into AUs, this series could be a great one to check out. It puts Finnick and Annie's relationship into an interesting new context that I find really cool, and it's nice and long so you'll have plenty to read.

Once, the Stars Aligned by Gamemakers - This is another AU that I really love. It's a historical AU, so it doesn't take place in Panem, but we still get to see Finnick and Annie come together anyway. I will warn you that this story is unfinished and most likely won't be updated, but I thought I'd throw it out there since I really enjoy it anyway. The author also has several other odesta works, many of which are cool AUs.

I am bored out of my mind, so I decided to make this post even though no one asked for it. A list of my current favs (I have many more, trust me, but I will try to keep this list concise) 1) over the counter by AmazingAngie 1/1 (modern) This fic makes me unreasonably happy. Idk, it's just endlessly hot and positive and all the good things without being tooth-rotting. 2) give me what i want by Amazing Angie 1/1 (historical) This is so self-indulgent - like a mug of your favourite hot chocolate. Ticks all my boxes and is exceptionally well-written 3) There's Just Something About Older Men by grandlovescheme 6/? (modern) Am I biased? Yes, I am. But this is a modern AU with OC Baelon being tortured and Daemon being the perfect father and husband... The emotional maturity of this man is so hot. 4) Your Body in My Arms by grandlovescheme 1/1 (modern) Another fic I love to reread when I am feeling sad or uninspired. It's just pure serotonin, and we all love bookstores, don't we? ;) 5) the echoes of your faithless prayers by Awfullylongtime 7/7 (canonverse)

Canonverse with Daemon being Rhaenyra's prisoner on Dragonstone. It has poignant writing unique to Awfully and a beautiful ending. 6) The king's song is a battlecry by Awfullylongtime 14/? (canonverse)

King!Daemon AU. Brilliantly written and has so many tropes I enjoy. Captivity, bondage, mind games. Gods, I love it so much! 7) i got a bad desire (baby i'm on fire) by luthien_under_bough 9/? (modern)

The true OG of maybedaddy AUs - the one by luthien. It has a perfect mixture of angst and smut - the author is a pro in writing these complicated feelings. 8) ain't nobody hurt you like i hurt you by luthien_under_bough 6/6 (modern) Daemyra being a mess - cheating on their spouses, trying to figure out their feelings, hurting each other as a form of revenge. It was recently completed, and it's just so, so good!
