Controversial Opinion:

there are zero benefits to being a twilight Vampire. You can't sleep or eat anymore. Not even to mix blood with anything because food automatically tastes like ash. The only way to avoid killing humans is to eat animals. And it still sucks because it will never fully satisfy you. Your always a hair trigger away from killing someone because the blood thirst is that bad. You can't fly or turn into a bat. Which is one of my favorite things about vampires the flying and the turning into cute bats.

The only things that can kill you is this tribe in Forks that can turn into big wolves or the vampire mafia ripping you to pieces and burning the remains. If you live near said tribe in Forks you end up ruining their lives because your very presence activates their wolf defense mechanism. You look like an idiot in the sunlight and sparkle like a disco ball. You have to constantly be careful of your strength because you can easily kill something with a flick of your finger. When your not hunting for blood your constantly either bored or having to pretend to be a high school kid forever? And you can only have sex with other vampires because you can easily kill humans. Like what benefits do you get from being a vampire forever? Being an immortal cold mannequin were your family dies in front of you, and your stuck with the most boring toxic person forever? No thank you.

Stephanie Meyer just sucked out all the gothic emo tim burton fun things about being a vampire and I won't have it. Thank you Smeyer for forever adding your sucky ideas to Vampire lore. 🧛‍♂️

Dilbert

Twilight

Stephanie Meyer’s series glorifies an unhealthy relationship dynamic and exploits a real Indigenous tribe which has yet to receive any monetary compensation for her cartoonish use of their people to make money. (You can help the Quileute tribe move their homes out of the area that will be flooded by global warming here, btw).

Twilight is being turned into a tv series just like Harry Potter.

I cringe thinking about the about 2010s and all the generic young adult vampire romance books that flooded bookstores for years because of Twilight's influence, but at the same time, I understand why they were there. It's sad that a lot of writers were probably pressured to shit these things out in order to be able to sell books. And in the end, it did nothing for their careers. We talk a lot about fast fashion, but I think we need to talk about fast fiction. Talented writers should not have to write shitty knock-offs that are ultimately meant to carry the careers of Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, and the like.

Twilight worse sin is being boring

I remember back in the early 2000s when twilight was "The" book/movie franchise, it was quite like mint ice cream some love some hate and I was in the love side as I was still on k-12 when the movies where released, and surprisingly I was on a team Jacob school as I remember most of my class mates fighting for the unofficial and probably illegal sets of twilight cards they used to sell with his face on it.

As I grew older and more rebellious I started hating it because all the cool kids hated it

It's been a long time since I even thought about twilight the most I thought about it recently was that famous butterfly effect of 9/11 caused the end of Ellen DeGeneres career (of course I only knew that because it involved my chemical romance, and speaking of them the song vampire money is another twilight thing I had been thinking about)

Anyway I went to the library recently and realized that I never actually read the books to form my own opinion, so I did and my opinion is that

It's a boring book

Yeah it's also a objectively bad book, it's whiter than a kkk party and Edward is objectively a creep (he literally uses the "you are so mature for your age" line) the quilelute tribe doesn't have a big participation yet but even if I didn't knew how this would go I won't thought that they would have a good treatment

But all sins considered what surprised me is how utterly boring this book is

Maybe TikTok and fanfic burned my attention span maybe I am being judgemental but this book was a snooze

There are no stakes (pun intended)

Because Meyer's vampire's have to be objectively good angels (literally she calls Edward that in the end) it robs the story of the easiest and more attractive concept of vampire romance which is the erotic yet sinful concept of blood drinking

Edward keeps repeating over and over again how dangerous and tortured he is and yet he does nothing objectively evil(recognized by the text, again he is creepy)

To pair with Edward I'm evil but not really vibes we have bella who only reaction to anything is polite interest or overtly distaste, she is the live embodiment of IDGAF but not on a ironic way more on a disassociating way

Ad this combination creatures two annoying ass characters Edward makes a big deal of anything he does and bella just reacts with interest but not excitement

Also by the fifth or sixth time bella described Edward's beauty I was ready to throw this book at a wall, this is what you get when your characters have the depth of a tea spoon you have to hammer over and over again about their hotness so the reader won't think about how again he has nothing else going on .

We could've had a conflict about loving a creature who kills to live, but he doesn't kill he eats animals, or loving something so much older than the character, but bella is mature for her age, or is him doing all this to get a lunch but Edward refuses to even consider taking a sip

So we have pages and more pages of nothing and then some action right in the end but you have to go through the boring parts

It's a boring book

I'm not good at ratings but this book is a solid 3/5 for me good concept shitty execution go read any other vampire media at least there's horny blood drinking

Never assume that female authors can't be misogynistic.

JK Rowling literally wrote the most appallingly embarrassing and vapid female characters known to humankind, and she's a woman and supposed "feminist." Every female character she had fell under 4 categories:

1) Dutiful and devoted mother

2) vapid girly girl who's a bitch because she's girly and she's hot and pretty but empty headed and hates books

4) a fat villain, whose main physical attribute is that she's fat, and also she's evil.

3) cool girl who's not like other girls because she's nerdy and/or a jock.

Then you have Stephanie Meyer. Who has insisted she isn't misogynistic because she would've written Bella as a flat and boring character even if she was male...and then when she wrote a gender bent twilight, she immediately gave male Bella an actual personality.

Like.

It's sad but.

But you know.

Women can be bad writers, lol.

Women can see other women as not people too. Women can be so vicious about other women, in fiction and in real life, maybe even more judgmental and harsh and callous than they'd ever be towards a man.

I kind of laugh at it because think of it like this...

Why did JK Rowling write from the perspective of a boy?

Because she probably grew up with the idea that she wasn't like other girls.

She had a working brain and didn't chase after boys all the time, like those other dumb lipstick wearing ninnies that were popular and cool and made fun of her in school.

So she wrote from the pov of a boy because she secretly thought I'm like the boys!!! I have thoughts!!! I wish to live vicariously through a protagonist who's a boy, and has his opinions and feelings heard.

Which is also hilarious in hindsight, because of how anti trans she now is. Like JK, my girl, my dude, what are you doing? You can't be a boy, silly.

And Stephanie Meyer is a Mormon, but let's say the reason she can't write female characters, or more specifically, a protagonist, is because she also frames the male as being the interesting one.

Neither of those authors could shake off the feeling that all women are bland and vapid and uninteresting, and men are the main focus.

And this was with vaginas, you know?

Shockingly...having a vagina does not immediately guarantee that you'll have any sympathy for other vagina havers.

Anyway.

This wasn't about anything, I was just thinking the other day of how female authors can be so violently misogynistic and it's really sad.

I admit I was also thinking about lizzo.

Being a woman...doesn't mean you support other women.

And when you are a woman, and you don't support other women...you're just awful.

Oh my God ?! Are you team Jacob for Twilight ?! So then ! I have to say that I have nothing against the canon ships of this saga. (Yes even the very controversial Jacob & Renesme. I generally put my brain in off mode for that by telling myself that SM as a mother herself must not have thought about it very deeply) And I must say that I always been team Edward, even still technically today. But I'm no longer an enthusiast at all because the flaws in the story are now staring me in the face. And even if I'm not crazy about Jacob & Bella either and hated it when I was younger, I have to say that today I totally understand why we would love these two together. BUT ABOVE ALL ! Damn, I have a huge crush on Jacob in the second film... Like the actor, after gaining muscle, had a wow effect on me and I've always liked guys with beautiful, long, well-maintained hair. And Jacob was just magnificent in the second movie. Even his behavior towards Bella was adorable. Beyond that, I still say it today that if I had been Bella... Even if I am very fascinated by vampires... Damn I would have been with Jacob. Also... Damn the heat he must give off ! As a big chill person, this totally appeals to me ! And the wolf shape is so awesome and impressive ! When I watch the films again I admit I don't understand why Bella prefers to freeze to death with Edward. Also, I realized growing up that when Edward talks... I sometimes want to make him shut up because it can be so corny and annoying.

I am not a fan of twilight. I only read up to eclipse and stopped reading the books after that. I've seen the movies but mostly find them boring except the last two. Saying that, I do find the secondary characters and background characters more interesting than Bella and Exward. Everything is more interesting than Bella and Edward. I especially hate Bella. Book version of her more than anything. She is a very annoying, boring, selfish person. Just every thought in her head makes me want to slap her.

Twilight Vampires freak me out and are way too over powered. For the most part I don't like Stephanie Meyers. You can tell she is a Mormon white woman with how she writes. I do love Jacob and the werewolves though. Jacob in general is my sunshine boy and he deserves happiness and I hate Bella or leading him on. I feel so bad for his tribe and what these selfish Vampires constantly do to them and their land. I especially hate the books and movies for the bad reputation they give to classical novels and plays. Especially romeo and juliet. Twilight has nothing to do with romeo and juliet. And there are no parallels or comparisons between them. If Stephanie Meyers wanted to do that, the should have made Edward and Jacob fall love than if anything.

If I had to choose werewolves no question. Not only are they cute looking and badass. But they're warm and human still for the most part. Twilight Vampires are stone cold statues that are ment to look beautiful. They don't live. They don't sleep, they don't eat, sex would eventually get boring because their never tired, and any second now they can lose control from hunger of human blood and kill everyone, plus animal blood never satisfies them! So honestly what joy comes from being a vampire in this universe?! Bella is just so stupid for picking this life and Edward.

I had a huge crush on Taylor Launter as a kid. Had a poster of him on the wall of my bedroom ceiling. Though I also cried when him and Taylor Swift broke up and listened to 'Back to December' a million times.

Edward I find so boring too. Mostly I hate how he treats Bella more like a pet/child. While reading the books it annoyed me so much how he wouldn't fuck her or kiss her in a hot way. His romance with Bella and his reasons for holding back were stupid and boring. Though when he left in New Moon. I hated him. After everything they been through he's just going to abandon her just like that. Moron. The whole save your soul thing I did not understand because I wasn't really religious so I did not get it. Now though I still find it stupid and I'm constantly reminded that Stephanie is Mormon. The whole book I'm constantly reminded that Stephanie is a white female Mormon. She grew up as one and your constantly reminded of that in the book and it freaks me out.

At this point, the hazbin/helluva critical community has fallen flat. And when I say that, I mean that it lacks potential. Like, I thought we were criticizing about the characters and the show itself. I thought we were talking about it's issues and what Viv could approve on it. But now, these people are just targeting fans of Viv's show who are just going on about their day, taking screenshots of harmful posts and posting it on the critical blog just to shit on them. You can't even consider that "critical" now when you're just being an asshole. They wonder why Viv and her fans think the critics are so bad. On top of that, these people love to make assumptions about Viv harassing Gooseworx all because she's a "terrible person" like please stfu. "She probably did this" and they don't even have any proof. Maybe consider that Viv actually enjoys tadc and it's success? What is all of this "viv is mad because the amazing digital circus is more successful than her shitty shows"? I dunno, man. That critical community is just so fucking dumb and stupid. They're not even talking about the shows anymore. They just bitch and fuss about everything.

For real, I had never seen such a critical community this much of a train wreck as the fandom is.

I mean hell, I engaged with the SVTFOE community before (and that show has the EXACT same problems as Helluva boss) and the critical blogs were very chill.

I feel like what didn’t help is how immature and unprofessional Vivziepop acts publicly. But at the same time…. I can’t really blame her for getting defensive when these antis dogpile her on everything.

And yes, the screenshots making fun of harmless posts of fans were red flags to me. Like dude, we have rabid fans and Stans do that to us, why the hell are you stopping to their level??? (I’m not gonna include the voodoo controversy because that to me needed to be talked about. A lot of POC fans and criticals had every right to discuss that and Viv should had given an apology or explanation over that. With closed religions that always got stereotypes due to colonizers, you need to be careful when writing about them. )

Oh God don’t get me started on the whole Vivziepop and Gooseworks relationship assumptions… that actually annoyed me too and I’m sure there’s no bad blood with them. I get she had bad blood with Tracey and possibly Ashley, but I don’t think it’s fair to assume she’s like this with every indie creator.

Honestly, its both of their fandoms that are acting unhinged. But I even seen hardcore fans of Viv like Dani praising TADC and Gooseworks, so I doubt the whole fandom are planning to sabotage them. TADC isn’t a rain full of sunshine either, they too have so much bad apples there.

Also my big issue with this community I’ve noted some critical blogs that claim they wanna make an original series (well one already made a webcomic) but they NEVER stop bitching about Viv and go on and on how they never do this to their project… unmmm dude? If you constantly compare your project to Viv’s, your gonna lose your audience this way. This can make you come off as an a logger and a very petty person to others. Trust me, this is NOT going to make people want to be interested in your original projects.

It’s also very unprofessional to do this publicly. I get looking at bad writing motivates you how to not to things… but the constant comparing is going to make you look like a very petty person to your outside audience. And they feel like your project won’t have agency on its own without being “better than Helluva/Hazbin.” I say this because I too am working on an indie project I want to make to a webcomic. And I REALLY don’t wanna ruin my reputation that way.

That’s what Zeartist did when he made his shitty ass books and would constantly hitch and whine about twilight on his life journals. And he would always bring up his original series and how it’s “better” and how he wouldn’t write such garbage like Stephanie Meyer.

And guess what???? His books are just twilight 2.0 but even worse 😂😂😂 he ended up doing the exact same thing stephanie did, bitches out over criticism, and yeah a huge hypocritical asshat.

That’s why constantly comparing your project to another person’s to seen as better is NOT a smart idea. Please have some self awareness there if your actually planning to make a webcomic or an original series.

Also… I’ve noticed people that have beautiful startled would waste it on blind hatred. Like that “I HAtE VIVZIEPOP” blog. Like godamn, their art is beautiful but they had an unhealthy hate obsession with Viv… why waste your energy on that when you can make something better?

I’m not talking about rewrites, AUs, or redesigns because to me those are like fanfics and for fun. The stuff I do is mainly just for fanfic fun and a writing/world building exercise for me. But also a little bit of self indulgence since I sitll admire Viv’s characters. You can enjoy something without giving your support to the actual creator. I’m trying to show my support to the team behind it.

(I’m even planning to buy fan merch from one of the clean up artists on their shop. To me it’s the ethical way of getting Hazbin/Helluva merch without directly giving it to Viv but to her artists instead. )
