On season 4 of my current AOS rewatch and I’m just being sad over the fact we didn’t get more Daisy and Robbie content. They’re such an awesome duo, and Robbie is an awesome character in general. I genuinely would’ve killed for Robbie to stay in the show a little longer, or at least come back at some point temporarily (totally get why they didn’t though- the Ghost Rider CGI would’ve totally taken up like all the budget every season 😭). I simply forever wish we got more of him, and him and Daisy. The wasted potentiallll. I’ll stay being sad.

Plot twist, I’m physically incapable of sticking to one idea. Thus I present for LMK tumblr’s review:

Ao Lie goes to Ninjago.

S3 + S4 LMK Spoilers; just a lot of Ninjago spoilers, I don’t know what season each is from anymore </3

Because I’ve been poking this concept of Ao Lie, ill and dying from what remains of the Samadhi Fire within him (the rest passed, dampened by cultivation, unto the next generation), accidentally find his way into Ninjago.

Specifically Ninjago of old, during the era in which Wu & Garmadon were still kids (specifically when Aspheera was still free). The idea of him meeting them, befriending them and FSM & accidentally becoming their uncle, helping them in their misadventures (the Forbidden Spinjutsu Scrolls, the Devourer bite, their quest to cure Garmadon, Garmadon leaving to join Chen, and their eventual fallout) and living longer than he had expected thanks to FSM is all just so interesting to me.

This unaging dragon prince who is literally on the verge of death gets voluntold to keep living by a bunch of almost-humans. And that’s another thing! Wu & Garmadon are both partially dragon, meaning Ao Lie will understand those smaller nuances in them- see them fully in those softened instincts of distant times, different in details though they may be, and lend his own knowledge.

If Ao Lie did live through to the current ninja then I feel like he would take a backseat in everything that happens. Outside of token attempts to reach Lloyd (and Garmadon when he returns), I feel he wouldn’t do much for the pilot and most of the first two seasons (Rise of the Snakes & Legacy of the Green Ninja). I think for the Devourer fight he would focus more on helping evacuate the city, maybe even use that dragon speed stuff that Mei does. For the Overlord fight, however, I believe that would be a big enough issue that even his mindset against rash action would abide by going with the ninja. Of course, there would need to be a reason why he doesn’t just wack Overlord or get evilled up; maybe proximity to the bad goop stirs the Samadhi Fire some.

Maybe he would be needing to take a step back afterwards if that’s the case, refocus on strengthening his golden core now that FSM’s seals are weakened. To that end, for season 3 (Rebooted), he would be at Garmadon’s monastery and spend the season protecting it. Similarly, he would be absent for season 4 (Tournament of Elements).

I need to watch/rewatch Possession, Skybound, DotD, Hands of Time, and just generally everything post-season 4. When it first came out, we couldn’t watch a lot of them for some reason and I picked it up again only for a little bit after Sons of Garmadon. Now usually when I go to rewatch it, I always end up rewatching up to Tournament of Elements or just ToE since it’s the best season imo.

Regardless, when I finish a few of those, I’ll add a second part to this :)

How did you get into the fandom?

I’m a ship fic writer by nature, and while I’ve been a fan of many films/shows/books over the years, it’s rare that I get the urge to delve into and explore a relationship through fanfic. I watched the 2009 Star Trek film when it came out and enjoyed it well enough, but nothing really grabbed me as a writer, the juggernaut pairing inherited from TOS having always left me pretty cold. I then got distracted by writing for a different juggernaut pairing for the next few years, plus I was living overseas at the time and spending limited time on fandom, so I completely missed that AOS McKirk had become its own fandom force to be reckoned with.

Years later, in the summer of 2017, I watched Wonder Woman and was delighted by Steve Trevor and, by association, the man I’d later come to appreciate as the Lesbian Chris. A couple months later, desperate for distraction on a flight to a work meeting, I spotted the 2009 film as an on-demand option and still had enough residual CPine affection to decide oh, what the hell, I might as well rewatch it, and hey, weren’t there a couple other movies in the series? I had a pretty ehhhh response to STID, so I went into Beyond expecting very little, only to reach The Bar Scene and find myself abruptly sitting straight up with eyes wide and hair on end like a cat woken from a deep sleep by the distant sound of a can opener.

Holy shit, thought I, is this…is this a THING?? And lo, it was.

I read a small handful of McKirk fics – I don’t even remember which ones, probably just the latest fics in the tag – and had that familiar feeling of, Hmm, okay, I guess, but the way *I* see them is… At which point I stopped reading and turned instead to getting down the broad strokes of both palimpsest and smoke in every lane (simultaneously at first, as evidenced by my very first note drafts with their original working titles):

I started a new Tumblr, eventually started posting palimpsest, was astounded that people actually liked it and wanted more of it, and, well, here we are.

Anyone else want to share their story? I feel like the majority of people currently active in McKirk fandom got later starts too, and I'd love to hear how folks tripped into the fandom.

Seriously or at least release the dam scripts I love reading scripts, I would not mind shows being canceled if they just released the script cuz 4/5 times the script is already written they just don’t follow through.

I feel that n I used to have the issue but now I just repeat everything they say in my head like if I’m reading it lol. I found that that really helps + being in the complete dark so nothing catches my attention.

Yeah!! Or even just like, give us a summary of what would have happened/what plans for future seasons were. The writer of The Midnight Club did that when the show got cancelled, and I was SO grateful to him for having done that, instead of leaving everyone with all the questions unanswered.

Lmao I just straight up just have the attention span of a goldfish, for real. 😭😭 It doesn't help that I need to be bouncing between like, at least two or more other things simultaneously at the same time lmfao.

Honestly it's not even worth it, not even for Ruby Rose. 😂😭

Yasssss!! It truly is. Lmao, I loved Terry from Batman Beyond. I wish the comics did more stories for batman beyond. I liked the 2016-2021 run of the comics (the "Rebirth" era), before Batman Beyond: Neo-Year (the current run, where they've killed off Bruce 😭😭)

Yeah, which was sO lame of them. 😤😤 Literally most of the appeal of AoS was that it was a continuation of the movies TL.

Anime Recommendations!

Hi everyone, I hope y’all are safe and happy! With quarantine still in place (at least in my country), I’m gonna keep the random rec lists coming! I’ve been watching a lotttt of animes and rewatching favourites, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites of all time! A lot of them are pretty mainstream, but for my friends who aren’t really into anime, these will get you hooked! In no particular order, let’s get started!

1. Snow White with the Red Hair, 24 episodes

This is hands down my favourite anime of all time. This shoujo anime make me feel so happy and it’s so wholesome, honestly such a feel good anime. Without spoiling too much, it’s about a herbalist named Shirayuki who ends up having to flee her home country and ends up meeting Prince Zen and goes to live in his country. The cast of characters in the anime is so good, there’s not a character to dislike. The genuine build up of friendship and eventual romance is just so sweet please watch.

2. Demon slayer (26 episodes)

One of the best anime I’ve watched this past year. This anime has amazing plot, awesome animation and a great cast of characters. This anime follows Tanjiro as he becomes a demon slayer after a demon killed his family. Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko were the only survivors but Nezuko was turned in a demon and now Tanjiro is on a journey to change he back into a human. If you are into anime with amazing fight scenes, I highly recommend.

3. Hunter x Hunter (148 episodes)

I am currently watching this anime and it honestly made it onto my lists of favourite anime super quickly. The series starts with Gon and his quest to become a pro hunter and find his dad and goes on from there. With so many episodes and arcs, you can’t stop watching. The characters immediately hooked me on this show, Killua and Gon’s friendship is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen in anime, I literally want to adopt both of them. This anime is so heartwarming but also kinda dark and action packed.

4. Haikyuu!! (73 episodes, on-going)

My favourite sports anime my god. Haikyuu follows a high school volleyball team as they try to make it to nationals. This series made me so much more emotional than I thought it would, but you get so involved with the team and characters and want them to succeed. All of the characters from all of the teams are also fantastic and hilarious. If you need a fun but exciting anime, please please please watch Haikyuu!!

5. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (64 episodes)

Where to even begin. I would say this is one of the most popular anime and for good freaking reason. Without giving too much away, this anime follows brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric as they go on a quest to get their bodies back. Honestly this is one of my fav animes, if you like awesome fight scenes and really intriguing plot, you will love this anime.

6. Yona of the Dawn (24 episodes)

Another amazing anime but sadly, unfinished. I think this anime is best to watch w/o knowing very much. Just know that there is really good characters and character development and a very attractive love interest :))))

7. Soul eater (51 episodes)

One of the first animes I ever watched and as I remember it’s hella awesome, if you like halloween then the whole atmosphere of this anime will intrigue you. The fight scenes in this are really fun and so are the characters. If you need a fun medium length anime, I would recommend this one!

8. Inuyasha (193 episodes)

This anime is worth all the hype in my opinion. The plot was great, the characters are fantastic and romance is so freaking cute I can’t. I’m also a sucker for asshole characters who are secretly really sweet.

9. Fruits Basket (2019) (25 episodes (S1), S2 on-going)

This is the cutest anime. The whole cast characters is amazing and you get so attached so fast. The protagonist is so sweet and optimistic and I really just wanna protect her. I went into this knowing next nothing and I think that’s the best way to do it. The 2001 version is good too but 2019 has better animation and is closer to managa (and has more episodes!).

10. My Hero Academia (88 episodes, on-going)

I love this anime with my whole heart. There is an adorable cast of characters and amazing fight scenes, I love this sm. It’s set in a world where like 95% of the population has ‘quirks’ which are basically super powers but not all of them are super powerful. Super heroes protect cities and the anime follows a high school where the students are training to become heroes. The main character is born without a quirk but through some crazy circumstances he ends up acquiring one. In my opinion this anime is worth the hype.

11. Ouran Highschool Host Club (26 episodes)

This one is wild. Ouran Highschool Host club is so iconic and it’s hilarious, I laughed out loud watching this one so much. Honestly I went into this knowing nothing and I think its funnier that way.

12. Yuri!!! On Ice (13 episodes)

THIS ANIME. The first sports anime w/ canon LGBTQ+ romance and its beautiful. I love the style, the skating, the music, the characters, just everything about it. This follows Yuri Katsuki, a professional figure skater from Japan and his skating career. After messing up a major championship, Yuri is lost and doesn’t know what to do w/ his career. After seeing a video of Yuri skate, his idol Victor, a skating legend, shows up to be his coach. Please watch this anime.

13. Attack on Titan (62 episodes, on-going)

If you are looking for a badass action anime this is the one for you. Humanity has fallen to the mercy of giant man-eating titans, and the people that survived live within a walled city to keep the titans out. This anime is a little disturbing and violent but it is so badass. Also Levi, the most badass character ever, makes this entire anime worth watching.

14. Ao Haru Ride (12 episodes)

Hands down my favourite romance anime. This anime is so freaking cute and it gave me so many fuzzy feelings. The animation is also super nice so that is always a plus. It follows Futaba and Kou who liked each other in middle school but were separated. They meet again in high school but they have both changed so much. If you want a romance anime I really recommend this one.

15. Naruto (720 episodes)

This is a freaking classic and really long. Almost everyone and their mother has heard of this anime or watched some of it before. Basically it’s about ninjas and follows mainly Naruto Uzumaki who want to eventually be the leader of his village but his ninja skills need a lot of work. I honestly didn’t think I would love this anime as much as I did but its just so good. It is a very big commitment to finish though so be prepared.

16. Your Lie in April (22 episodes)

Well this anime is literally beautiful. It is centered around 2 teens w/ major musical talent. It gets deep very fast but its also light hearted and wholesome. This anime made me cry like a baby so get your tissues ready.

Hold up, ok, look, I’m a massive nerd, but I only just remembered. Because I’m currently rewatching AOS. That Our first introduction to Fitzsimmons, even before they appear, is the line.

“Fitzsimmons is not cleared for combat.”

‘is’, I love that the writers used ‘is’ instead of ‘are’, like seriously, that’s basic first ten minute proof that they’re one entity and the creators and writers knew it since day 1.

as said before me , i’ve tried to be better about updating since i know i leave some stories to go to others , but i still need some work on that since i usually just follow my muse for whatever i want to write. nothing will never be forgotten or abandoned , just left for a bit until i get back to it.

anyway starting with some newer wips :

• Broken Power ( a The Falcon & The Winter Soldier story set in Madripoor ) is my most currrnt project & hasn’t been updated yet because i’m still 2k words off from the next chapter goal & i haven’t been feeling the best lately so i haven’t worked on it much the last week , but it should be updated in the next few days.

• What Silent Love ( a stucky AU fic set in university / college ) is as well a current project & hasn’t been updated for the reasons above. it’s set to be updated very soon though as well.

• Bound To Happen ( a The Witcher fic ) hasn’t yet been updated because my muse has fallen so very far into the MCU fandom & has latched onto Bucky Barnes , Sam Wilson , & Steve Rogers with no sign of letting go yet. but I have been working on this in bits & pieces , writing on it a little each day so that I can hopefully update it even though I don’t really have much muse for it.

• Pushing Through ( Tenacity ) ( a Band of Brothers fic set post The Breaking Point ) hasn’t been updated because of the reasons above as well. too it appears i’ve lost my malarkey book in the last move i did & that made sad because i can’t just replace it , so that effected my writing on this story. but i’m hoping to get back to it soon , i just need to have a rewatch i think.

now for some other projects that haven’t seen much attention in awhile :

• Orbiter Dicta ( a Doctor Who fic set in the eleventh doctor era ) which hasn’t been updated because i haven’t felt muse for the fandom. that’s usually the reason i don’t updated on stories , but i will say i’m a bit stuck on the motives for the people behind the kidnapping / imprisoning , i have two ways it could go & i like both of them so i'm writing each out to see which i prefer better. so it’s just taking some more time because i’m indecisive. i’m sorry.

• Grief Is Yours My Friends ( a Star Trek AOS fic ) this one hasn’t been updated because i haven’t felt muse for it , i really need to do a rewatch of the films & i think that’d help so that’s in the plans for the future.

• Of The North ( a LotR fic set pre-FotR ) hasn’t been updated because again i haven’t the muse really for it , even though the next chapter really only needs like three hundred words to go before i can post it :\ which really sucks because i still adore this story so much & it has so much written for it already & just need to connect it all , but alas no muse for the characters & such.

• Trying To Find ( a The Witcher fic ) was one of the fics i deleted & then reposted ( along with bound to happen ) due to reasons you can find on the author’s notes in the story , so i won’t go into it here , but just that plus lack of muse for it. just i haven’t give much thought to it lately since other fandoms have jumped in the way. but as always nothing is ever abandoned just put on hold , so to speak , until i can get back to it again.

• Equilibrium ( a The Maze Runner fic set in the glade ) this is one of my oldest wips & something i began on a whim in two days of inspiration which i haven’t had back since i posted it so that’s why i haven’t updated it. ^^’ although i do love it & have tried to get muse back for it , i just haven’t been able to yet. it’s still a wip on a wip xD

𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐌 / ��𝐇𝐎𝐖 : i honestly have no idea what the last movie i watched was. maybe black widow?? i have no idea. but for shows i’m currently rewatching aos s1 w/ @terrifyingstories we watched ep 8 last night. i’m also watching chicago fire rn. i watched about half of the latest ep of supergirl in between breaks of reading for school.

𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 : i go for sad people who are trying to be good usually. some sort of vibe there. i know there’s definitely A Better Description of my type but like that’s a good start. as for other inspiration, reading gets me really motivated !! it doesn’t really matter the genre, though fiction does help more than nonfiction. sometimes certain songs will put me in the mood ( like warriors for bellamy ). the best source of inspiration though is just talking about my chars. it gets me all jazzed and helps me find their voices when i’m struggling.
