Haku Yowane- A sweet, lonely, sensitive girl with a lot of heart. Age 17.

Neru Akita- A courageous tomboy who is misunderstood. Age 17.

Miku Hatsune- A bubbly, cheerful, outgoing girl with a lot of friends. Age 15.

Luka Megurine- An artistic girl who has a bit of anxiety. Good friends with Meiko. Age 18.

Teto Kasane- A bubbly, cheerful girl with an unexpected temper and badass side. Age 15.

Megumi “Gumi”- A bit shy, but underneath, she is very brave and resourceful. Age 16.

Meiko Sakine- The Mom Friend. Confident and likes to help people. Age 18.

Momo Momone- The nicest girl, to the point of being a pushover… Age 15.

Dandy “704”- A very arrogant and vain guy. Quite selfish and loves to show off. Age 18.

“Lady” Parsec- A commanding bully who demands and orders people around. Age 17.

Spencer- Parsec’s “servant” who is actually just as diabolical as she is. Age 17.

Yuu- A cheerful guy who likes parties and fun. Age 16.

Daina- Basically, she’s a furry. Her fursona is a fox. Age 17.

Ruby- A girl who likes memes and is basically just vibing through life. Age 16.

Yukari Yuzuki- A modest girl who has a crush on Ruby. Easily impressed. Age 16.

Shian- An innocent girl who is also quick-tempered and pouts easily. Age 14.

Muxin- A kind, knowledgeable boy. He loves history and astronomy. Age 14.

Cangqiong- A very classy and demure lady with wisdom beyond her years. Age 18.

IA- A bit mysterious and seems cold and expressionless. Age 16.

Piko Utatane- Shy, quiet, and cold. Gets along with Muxin due to similar interests. Age 15.

Genbu- Overly-enthusiastic and brash. A bit of a loudmouth. Age 18.

Chiyu- Bold, brash, and brave. Kind-hearted and strong. Age 17.

Haiyi- Talks a lot. Usually has something up her sleeve. A prank perhaps? Age 16.

Leeds Kasumiga- A timid girl with a mysterious heart illness that inhibits her. Age 14.

Mizki- A real goth, unlike Zatsune, who is a goth-in-training. Age 17.

Tei Sukone- A dastardly, manipulative villain who fools people, then bites. Age 16.

Cider- A smug, self-absorbed inventor of elaborate but stupid inventions. Age 17.

Bruno- An agreeable, outgoing guy who likes spreading good vibes. Age 18.

Clara- Bruno’s girlfriend. A little bit timid, but always kind and optimistic. Age 17.

Aku Yamine- Quiet and a bit melancholic. She’s… a different type of goth. Emo? Age 14.

Lily- A tough high-school delinquent who stands up for the weak. Age 17.

Amy- Cheerful, optimistic, yet quite chill. Doubts herself often however. Age 16.

Chris- He might be a big guy, but he is quite shy and very gentle. Age 18.

Kaori- She seems confident and bright on the outside, but hides sadness? Age 17.

Ken- He’s talkative, smart, kind of a dork, but very focused and brave. Age 17.

Iroha Nekomura- Innocent and sweet, but agile, with cat-like reflexes. Age 14.

SeeU- Energetic, hyperactive, makes bad puns, silly, makes bad puns… Age 16.

Kiyoteru Hiyama is the host of the game show. Big Al is in the role of Chef. Sweet Ann is in here too somewhere. Yuki, Oliver, and Ryuuto are three kids who watch TDI on TV and love to watch the drama go down.

———Episodes———

Episode 1-

Introduction to concept. Characters see the advertisement for the game show and contemplate going on it. The winner gets a million dollars!

Episode 2-

Introduction to characters via their audition videos. Kiyoteru chooses contestants.

Episode 3-

The audition videos are wrapped up… Kiyoteru’s decisions finalize. Then, the fateful day comes. Everyone is flown to the island… they realize it’s not a tropical island in the Pacific like they were shown. It’s in the wilderness of Nova Scotia.

Episode 4-

Everyone arrives at Total Drama Island and meets each other. Some get along, and many clash.

Notable big-drama-causers include Tei, Eleanor, Dandy, Parsec, Cider, Merli sometimes, and Zatsune sometimes.

Koto, Teto, Genbu, Ritsu, Haiyi, Daina, and Dex stick out for being especially wild.

But really, everyone’s unique personality contributes to the drama and pot of chemistry in their own way.

Another camper who sticks out is Gakupo Kamui, who enthusiastically boasts about his skills in martial arts and how ready he is to win Total Drama Island. He begins to get on the nerves of the other campers.

“I can out-run, out-kick, out-sing, out-wit, and even out-PISS anybody else here.” Gakupo says.

“Well, can you do us a favor and GET-out?” Meiko says.

Episode 5-

Campers have to jump off a one thousand-foot cliff into a shark-infested lake. Then they have to pull some crates back to camp, and the team from before with the most people who jumped get carts to help them. Then they have to build a hot tub from material found in the crates. The team with the best hot tub wins the challenge.

The campers who were too scared to jump off the cliff have to wear chicken costumes for the rest of the day.

Despite his incessant bragging previously, Gakupo is one of the few campers who does not jump off the cliff, because it is revealed he is scared of heights, sharks, AND deep water! He even pisses himself and dramatically faints when he gets close to the edge of the cliff... and then he faints off the cliff! However, his jump isn’t accounted for, because Gakupo was not conscious during his fall. Luka has to be the one to jump in after and rescue him! This causes Gakupo of The Dangerous Dolphins to be the first campter voted off.

“Well… I guess he was right about out-pissing everyone here.” Neru laughs.

The other campers too scared to jump are Taya, Dandy, Eleanor, Clara, Muxin, Chris, and Kaito.

Haku is at first too scared, but her best friend Neru encourages her to be brave. They jump together and yell funny things on the way down.

Even though Eleanor is scared, she ends up going over anyway after Chiyu pushes her off the cliff, being sick of Eleanor’s arrogance. However, it isn’t even accounted for, because Eleanor did not jump by her own will.

Clara is too frightened and doesn’t make the jump, which is surprising, because she was so enthusiastic before. However, her boyfriend Bruno had jumped without her…

Taya takes one look down the cliff and starts backing away, crying from fear. He feels ashamed that he’s so scared, but he cannot help it. He gets pats on the back from Clara.

Dandy is scared and makes an excuse as to why he can’t jump. He says he has an open wound from a fencing accident. In reality, Dandy does not fence.

Muxin is too scared, but asserts that he doesn’t have to jump off the cliff if he doesn’t want to, and that the challenge is ridiculous. He then comforts Taya, who is curled up sobbing, and tells him not to feel shame. Taya and Muxin become friends, but sadly are on different teams.

Chris is too scared and actually starts crying too. People don’t expect it.

Kaito is scared to jump, panics and makes a bit of a scene, and is then picked on and belittled by his brother Akaito for the rest of the day. Kaito then vows he will become braver from here on. Braver, and stronger!

Leeds actually does jump from the cliff, but the stress causes her heart to become weak and she has trouble walking for the rest of the day. Some of the members on her team rudely deem her a nuisance, but others tell her to take it easy and understand her.

Afterwards, Clara gets a bit sour at Bruno, who is her boyfriend, for jumping the cliff without noticing she was too scared.

Koto jumps the cliff and she actually has fun. But afterwards, she wears a chicken suit anyway, because she loves birds.

Episode 6-

The challenge is to stay awake the longest in the "Awake-A-Thon" after running twenty-kilometers and eating a huge meal that includes turkey, which is known for making people sleepy.

Dell of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for falling asleep first. He generally has a bad attitude and is apathetic. Haku feels heartbroken because Total Drama Island was the first time she had seen Dell since her parents’ divorce (by complete chance, even,) and he is not the warm person he used to be. Also, their time together was so short. But unexpectedly, Dell acts nice to Haku right before he leaves, calling her to his room when he’s packing to go off the island. They have a nice conversation. Before Haku says goodbye, Dell says “Listen, I’m just not cut out for this wacky game. So you better win. I KNOW you can do it.” Haku begins crying and hugs Dell. Just like when they were kids.

There will eventually be a list here of who falls asleep first to last, but that’s quite convoluted. So I will say Dell falls asleep first, and Ruko second. Campers were not allowed to drink coffee during the challenge, rendering our Long Sleeper without access to her “secret weapon.”

Koto stays up the longest, because she is a bird lover and loves birds too much to consume them. Therefore, she was the only one who didn’t eat any turkey with her meal, and didn’t become as sleepy as the others! Also simply because Koto is badass and feral.

Episode 7-

A best-of-five dodgeball game. Five people are randomly chosen on each team. This is repeated three times for a total of three rounds of dodgeball. The Dangerous Dolphins win 2 out of 3 games.

Zatsune of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for being scared of dodgeball. It was a fear ingrained into her from her elementary school days, when the “dodgeball kids would bully her.” Sadly, since Zatsune always acts so cocky, nobody feels much sympathy now.

Taya and Muxin want to spend time with each other. Being on different teams, they can’t, and are deemed traitors. But when Tei, on Taya’s team, suggests Taya could get valuable information about the other team via Muxin, Taya refuses to sabotage their friendship. This causes Tei to begin picking on Taya…

Episode 8-

A three-on-three talent show contest. Dex of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for no reason. He wasn’t even in the talent show!

Dandy wanted to get chosen by his team, the Dangerous Dolphins, to be in the talent show, claiming his “talent” was unmatched. However, he wasn’t chosen because he didn’t exactly have any real actual skills despite his claim!

Taya, Luka, and Gumi are eventually chosen by the Dangerous Dolphins for their talents in music. Luka will play piano, Taya will play the guitar, and Gumi will play the electric bass as they all sing a song cover. This causes Dandy to criticize their every note and call them amateur. Given Taya and Gumi’s low self-esteem, Dandy’s criticism gets to them before the final talent show.

As for the Killer Porpoises, Yuuma, Ritsu, and IA get chosen as the team’s musicians. They form more of an idol dance group, with a pre-recorded background track. (It will also be a cover.)

The Dangerous Dolphins actually win. If they were to have lost, Dandy would’ve probably been the one voted off for being a prick.

Episode 9-

Campers have to go to the forest, stay out there overnight, then race back to the campgrounds in the morning. Yukari of the Killer Porpoises gets voted off. See, it wasn’t really Yukari’s fault, but… she got attacked by a bear and is now too injured to stay for the game, so the voting off was mandatory, even though the Killer Porpoises otherwise won. Everyone becomes more-or-less traumatized at this, and feel very hurt for Yukari.

Episode 10-

Campers have to face their worst fear, specific to each camper.

It seems many of the campers had been traumatized by the bear incident…

Koto’s worst fear is the perfume department from Spongebob, because that scene scarred her as a little kid. So the host of the game show, Kiyoteru, magically opens a door to the perfume department at a real department store and Koto has to walk through it. Koto only makes it 5 steps in before she runs out, screaming. She does not pass her fear test!

Yuuma is scared of the Crab Rave because there are too many crabs. So he is taken to a part of the island overrun by crabs, and Kiyoteru turns on the Crab Rave song and they all start dancing. Yuuma dives into the water screaming. But the crabs chase him. He doesn’t pass his fear test.

Taya attempts to outwit Kiyoteru and pretends he is afraid of strawberry shortcake, which is actually his favorite food. But everyone remembers how scared he was in the first challenge at the cliff. So Taya’s specific challenge is to jump off the cliff this time…

Yuuma gets voted off because he was scared of crabs.

Episode 11- Row a canoe to Boney Island, portage across the island, start a bonfire, and canoe back to camp. Wil gets voted off.

Episode 12- Hunt the other team dressed as deers with paintball guns, or if one is a deer, avoid being hit by them. Piko gets voted off.

Episode 13- Create a three-course meal for Kiyoteru to judge. Three chefs are chosen from each team. Miku gets voted off because her recipes went overboard with sugar, spice, and “everything nice.” (And also a tiny plastic Barbie shoe, for some reason.)

Episode 14- Participate in a set of three-out-of-five trust exercises. Shian gets voted off because she is a tsundere and has trouble trusting people.

Episode 15- Make it through Big Al’s life-threatening and disgusting boot-camp challenges. IA gets voted off.

Episode 16- Participate in three extreme sport challenges. The challenges are "sofa skydiving", riding a moose while avoiding being tossed off it, and water-skiing on mud. Lapis gets voted off.

Episode 17- Eat a nine course meal of disgusting food made by Big Al. Drink shot glasses of blended cockroaches. Yuu gets voted off.

After this challenge, the teams are disbanded. It’s now every camper for themself.

Episode 49-

Get through several rounds of torture, lasting at least ten seconds in each one. Eleanor gets voted off because she can’t take torture.

Episode 50-

Receive a clue to find a key hidden somewhere in the island to open a treasure chest containing a prize. Ritsu found a dud chest and his prize was… getting voted off.

Episode 51-

Avoid getting sprayed by Big Al’s water gun in a game of hide and seek. Parsec gets voted off. Good riddance!

Episode 52-

Build a bike from scratch, and then race it.

Who rides who’s bike?

Anyway, Dandy gets voted off. Probably because he’s 7 foot 4 and huge. He probably broke all the bikes.

Episode 53-

Watch a horror movie and then avoid being captured by a "deranged killer". Gumi gets voted off because she was scared.

Episode 54-

Catch the specific animal assigned by Kiyoteru and bring it back to the campground unharmed.

Taya had to bring back a raccoon. He came back first.

Koto had to bring back a bear. She came back second. What a total beast! And I’m talking about KOTO!

Genbu had to bring back an eagle. He came back third.

Leeds had to bring back a frog. She came back fourth.

Kaito had to being back a squirrel. He came back fifth.

Haku had to bring back a moose. She came back sixth.

Tei gets sent off because she couldn’t bring back a mere chipmunk. The little chipmunk was trained in king-fu and ended up beating her up! Hooray!

Episode 55-

Compete in the following while handcuffed to one of the other campers: eat disgusting food with your hands behind your back while the person handcuffed to you feeds you, return a fragment of Teto’s cursed tiki idol (it is literally shaped like an “idol” figurine) to Boney Island, and assemble a totem pole with the wooden heads of the voted out campers in the order that they are eliminated. Taya gets voted off.

Episode 56-

Campers have to find Kiyoteru and Big Al after being washed away by a storm. Leeds gets voted off because her condition came to its worst. Her weak heart had finally failed on her and she suffered a heart attack. She was doing so good in the game despite her shortcomings, and will serve as an inspiration for many. Leeds will not die. She is in good hands. She will get top medical care.

Now, a twist is revealed to the audience.

Everyone who was voted off actually went to go to a beautiful island resort. The remaining campers still don’t know about this.

When Leeds finally gets consciousness back, she finds she is in a hospital bed… in paradise. At first, she thinks she is dead. The room then fills up with everyone else voted off, and she begins crying because she thinks she is in heaven.

“They really killed you?” Leeds cries, thinking everyone else is dead.

“No, Leeds!” Yukari says. “You’re alive! You made it… to Paradise Island!”

Episode 67-

An episode dedicated to the Island of Losers, which is actually a five-star island resort paradise. Yukari has fully recovered from her injuries.

Gakupo and all the others who were eliminated early finally get their time to shine! The losers will also be involved in the episodes to come, as they will be the audience.

Episode 58-

The campers have to find their way back to camp after being left in the wild with limited supplies. Unexpectedly, our total beast, Koto Fuuga, comes back last. Rumors have it, this is because she found a bird sanctuary and got totally distracted…

Episode 59-

Survive a series of dares, given by the eliminated campers until someone drops out. Haku is forced to do something horrible by Tei. Tei dares Haku to joke around and portray offensive stereotypes. On national TV. She just can’t do it… She drops out, but not before insulting Tei to her face for having an offensive sense of humor. But Kaito says Haku made the right choice. She sacrificed her chance to win a million dollars so that Tei didn’t have to force her to make a choice that could hurt people when they see it on TV. Kaito thinks Haku deserves an amazing consolation prize. Genbu respects Haku for this as well.

Episode 60-

Another episode dedicated to the Losers on Paradise Island. A bit of a breather before the final challenge.

Episode 61-

The two remaining campers have to climb a pole and retrieve a flag, walk across a board on top of shark-infested waters while carrying an eagle's egg, and run a race to cross the finish line. Everyone on Paradise Island has someone they are rooting for. Kaito is about to give up… but… There is ice cream at the finish line! Meiko sent it there because she knows ice cream is Kaito’s favorite food, and it would motivate him at the last moment! Kaito makes a mad dash to the finish line and wins Total Drama Island!!

Episode 62-

Kaito won! But there is a twist. In order to actually win the million dollars, he has to find the a case containing the $1,000,000 and bring it to the Dock of Shame before anyone else does! Now everyone has a chance again! This is a race between him and all the other campers! If any of the other campers being it to the Dock of Shame before Kaito, there will be a whole second season of Total Drama Island, and Kaito will have to win all over again before he gets his million dollars…

Those voted off actually get to go to a beautiful island resort. Reveal this plot twist once Leeds is out of the game. However, Kiyoteru had kept vaguely hinting about it the whole time, and Haku kept contemplating “Maybe they’re at a resort.” However, this isn’t actually confirmed until Leeds’ departure.

Episode 3-

New prose-

The advertisement and hype also found itself to the internet, where it found the attention of 15-year-old Uta Utane, hardcore girl gamer, amateur computer-music producer, and internet addict. She knew Japanese fluently and interacted with overseas game and music communities all the time. Internet circles affectionately nicknamed her “Defoko,” meaning “default girl,” due to her faithful devotion to mastering playing strategies with the default characters and skins in five of her favorite video games. Uta was in her natural habitat on the web. But offline, she was as shy and awkward as a wilting flower.

The reason Uta signed up for Total Drama Island was because she lost a bet with her pesky siblings—two older brothers and one younger sister. They were quite lively, unlike her. However… Uta found a bright side to the whole situation… Think of all the video games, software, and music tech one could buy with a million dollars!

It wasn’t long enough before Uta overheard her classmate Teto Kasane, talking to Momo Momone about a cool new game show she herself signed up for. Teto and Momo were best friends, but many people mistook them for a doting dating couple all the time. They were so affectionate always, even kissing each other on the cheek at times.

“Momo, have you heard of Total Drama Island?” Teto asked.

Uta couldn’t help but eavesdrop from her desk. And Uta was very, very good at eavesdropping in plain sight. She was so quiet. People always thought she just wasn’t listening…

“OMG!” Momo replied. “Teto, I’M going on Total Drama Island!” Momo said. “My brother Momotaro told me I needed to do more things in life. So he signed me up. I was angry at first, until I saw what the prize was for winning—“

“NO WAY!” Teto’s yell suddenly interrupted. “Momo! I’m going on Total Drama Island too!”

“OH MY GOSH!”

The two girls hugged.

“EEEEE!” They both squealed in bliss.

Uta, interest piqued, was now awkwardly walking up to the scene. She wanted to perhaps talk to Momo and Teto… but definitely didn’t know what to day.

“I… um, wouldn’t get too happy.” She tripped on the words quietly, stammering somewhat. “In Total Drama Island, you two might have to be pit against each other…”

“Aaaaand now here’s Defoko, here to dampen our spirits again.” Teto said.

“…My name is Uta.” The quiet girl said. Once again, she came off as harsh…

Indeed, the nickname Defoko had even spread to her classmates at school. They all thought it was a fitting name for her, given how much of a plain, blunt, “default” girl she was.

“Well then, Uta. Why do you have to be so mean to us?” Momo asked.

“I’m not being mean.” Uta answered, with more conviction this time. “I’m just… being real. I’m looking forward to winning Total Drama Island as well, and even brushed up on insider knowledge from obscure web sources. Perhaps you two shouldn’t get your hopes up too high…”

Momo and Teto looked at each other for a few seconds.

“Wait.” Teto suddenly said. “You’re going on Total Drama Island too, Defoko?”

Uta nodded.

“…I see.” Momo said.

“Hm. No offense…” Teto said. “But you’ll be lost without any teamwork. And you don’t really have any friends… do you?”

“There can only be one winner of Total Drama Island.” Uta said nonchalantly. “And I work alone.”

Uta dramatically flipped her hair and tucked part of it behind her ear. Then as mysteriously and nonchalantly as ever, she walked away… into the deep, hazy distance… of the algebra classroom at 7:00 AM.

“She has such a cold attitude...” Momo commented.

But deep down inside, Uta didn’t mean to come off as so snide.

Rumors had it, there were even flyers, strategically hung up in random places where young people tended to hang out. Some of the contestants who were on the show could even tell you they found out about the show in this way. Namely Yuuma, who found out at his mall’s bowling alley. Yuuma was a popular guy in his school who hung out with his friends often. The day he saw the flyer, he joked with his friends Shuu and Souta that it sounded like a dumb scam. However, the advertisement wouldn’t leave his mind… and down the rabbit hole he went, until he found the guts to enter the contest.

“Quick way to perhaps make a million.” He thought. “Maybe make some friends. Play friendly competition games.”

Nothing would’ve prepared Yuuma for what would be in store for him.

Ads were even printed in teen magazines. In the latest issue of the gaudy LUXE VIBE magazine, geared towards teenage girls and young female adults who either dreamed of, or had the bucks to buy the showcased expensive clothes and cosmetics. Eleanor Forte, who lived a life of luxury, came across the ad, and her first thought was…

“Barbaric!” She said out loud, while lounging on her expensive chair by the outside jacuzzi by her expensive private pool with massage jets (and poolside maid service.) “The absolutely senseless things that those common plebs would do for money…”

“Oh, Ellie, dear!” Eleanor heard her mother call her.

“WHAT.” She answered.

“I signed you up for Total Drama Island, dear. Wouldn’t you love to have a chance to come out of your shell, meet some people your age and play some wholesome games without being on that phone all day?”

“…WHAAAAAT!?”

Eleanor yowled so loud that she scared her purebred cat who was taking a nap indoors.

Ritsu then says he is a boy (which is true) and that his boobs are missiles and he weighs 10 tons and he is actually 6 years old because he was created in a lab in North Korea (which is not true.) An exhausted Ruko says “that’s enough” and turns the camera off.)

(Gumi is painting a beautiful painting of a tiger and all of a sudden, the painting comes to life… because she has boss editing skills. She also does some gymnastics with the painting. Because Gumi is a boss. But she is unexpectedly very shy.)

Request: Growing up the way you did doesn’t exactly make it easy to make friends. You get used to being a lone wolf but revelations at Alfea makes you want to change that. @melisacharles

You look in the mirror trying to perfect the bun you’re currently sporting. You’ve got the natural curly hair that can be hard to control if you don’t know how to style it correctly but a bun fits your features perfectly so a bun is what you’re going with. You put on a pop of colour on your lips perfectly matching your brown skin. Today will be your first day at Alfea and you feel the nerves starting to arrive. You’ve always been more of a lone wolf never getting attached to anyone because you’d experienced first-hand how easily someone could just walk out of your life. Your biological father had left your mother long before you even had the chance to enter the world and while your mother had been the best mother in the world and did the best that she could, you still struggled with the feeling of being abandoned. In all honesty, he didn’t know you were going to exist when he left but you’d sought him out when you turned 16 only to find him with another woman.

After that you started keeping to yourself always being the listening ear but never allowing yourself to open up. Your mom had raised you to be kind and compassionate, but you still struggled letting people in. It doesn’t stop you from entering the grounds of Alfea though. It’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen. What confuses you the most is when you see the redheaded girl with fire abilities the first day in class. At first, you brush it off as just another fire fairy because there’s no way you’d meet another fairy who wields the Dragon Flame.

“Y/N, I’m so glad to finally meet you.” The headmistress of Alfea is walking right towards you abruptly forcing you to focus on the present and not get lost in your thoughts. You look away from the fire fairy and smile politely.

“Your mother has told me so much about you.” You’re not sure why but it gives you an uneasy feeling in your stomach that the headmistress has already talked about you with your mom. You didn’t want her to worry about you.

“Only good, I hope.” She motions for you to follow her as she leads the way to her office. You’re not sure what you could possibly have done wrong to be in trouble already considering it’s only the first day of school but you keep quiet as you follow her not wanting to make it worse.

“As I’m sure you’re aware, there’s another fire fairy who started this year,” she starts you sit down in the chair across from her desk.

“Yeah, I didn’t quite catch her name.” You’re not sure what this has to do with you but you’re hoping she’ll get to the point so you can get out of here.

“Bloom wields the Dragon Flame same as you. I believe that your father is her father.” This is not what you had in mind when you woke up this morning. You see your own reflection in the mirror behind Headmistress Dowling seeing the look of pure shock on your face. Your dark brown eyes are wide open from the surprise of finding out you have a half-sister.

“Does she know?” you ask wondering if Bloom is waiting outside feeling what you’re feeling right now.

“It’s more complicated in Bloom’s case. I’m not sure she’s ready for that kind of knowledge yet.” And you are? You’re not sure if you should laugh at the absurdity or start pulling at your hair out of frustration.

“I need some air,” you mumble already looking for the exit.

“We’ll need to discuss this further. There’s so much more to uncover and I’m hoping you’ll be able to help.” You want to help but you also want to run away and never come back. You compromise and head for the forest just needing a minute to yourself. The boy sitting on the tree log smoking a joint seems to disagree with you.

“Sorry. I didn’t figure anyone would be here.” You’re about to leave when he pats the space next to him.

“There’s room for one more.” And that’s how you get to know Riven. That log becomes your log as time goes on. Headmistress Dowling insists on your help trying to piece everything together since there’s not much literature on the Dragon Flame and the only thing that gets you through those meetings are knowing Riven is waiting for you outside. Bloom still doesn’t know and you’re not eager to tell her. The more people that know, the higher is the risk of it getting back to your mother and she really doesn’t deserve to learn what your father did with his time after leaving her. It’s a closed chapter and you don’t want to reopen old wounds.

“So, Bloom is your sister?” Riven asks. He’s the only one you’ve dared confide in and you’re not even sure why. You’re still debating whether you truly trust him or not but he’s been the only one persistent enough to get through your walls and that means something to you.

“Half-sister,” you correct him. You’re sitting much closer than necessary on the big tree log out in the forest. It’s the only place you can speak freely.

“How do you feel about that?” You’re not feeling great, but you have to admit that the idea of having a sister could be exciting. You’ve yet to work up the courage to talk to her seeing as she’s always surrounded by her friend group.

“I wish I could make it easier for you,” he says giving your hand a gentle squeeze. It feels natural when you lean over and kiss his cheek. It feels even more natural when he turns his head and kisses you. He bites down on your bottom lip deepening the kiss. You’ve wanted to do this since the first day you met him but your head has been a mess and you needed to figure your feelings out before you acted. But it feels right with him. You’ve kissed a lot of boys and girls before but it’s never felt like this.

Walking back to Alfea hand in hand is what gives you the courage to finally go talk to Bloom and it turns out she’s not so bad. It’s weird how different she looks compared to you when you share some of the same DNA. You have big plump lips and the small button nose - you might share the nose though. Terra is the first to welcome you into the group with a smile. You catch yourself wishing you could leave the table sometimes not used to so many people talking to you but Riven rests his hand on your thigh under the table letting you know that he’s here for you. It’s what you need to stay seated and get to know your sister who is not that bad all things considered. You just might end up enjoying your time at Alfea.

Something Thicker Than Blood Pt. 1

Pairing: OT7(eventually) x Reader

Summary: For most people, family is the people you’re related to- cousins, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, mom and dad. But sometimes having genetic ties to a person isn’t enough, and sometimes it’s not necessary to consider someone family. Sometimes people create their own family. And sometimes families form in the most unlikely situations. So, when you find yourself without your family, and not really looking for a new one, the universe seems to have other plans for one, newly established lone wolf

The melodic but sudden sound of your alarm jolts you from your sleep as it always does. With a slight groan you shut it off and roll out of bed. It's Saturday, and while you don't have clients to meet with today you have a ton of errands and chores to complete before the end of the day so you can't afford to be lazy this morning.

You quickly wash your face and brush your teeth. Today is an errand and chores day so you throw on a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. After making yourself breakfast and eating you get started on your weekly list of chores. You start with cleaning your kitchen since you're already there. Your next chore is sweeping and straightening up your living room. Once that's out of the way you tackle your bathroom, scrubbing the toilet, disinfecting the bathtub, wiping down the sink, and straightening up all your stuff that usually ends up scattered when you get ready. You quickly work your way through dusting the extra rooms you don't use in your much too large for one person house.

By the time all of that is done your clothes reek with the scents of your different cleaning products and you decide you need to change before leaving the house. You take off your current outfit and toss it in the hamper, changing into a pair of jeans and camisole that you layer with a sheer cardigan since the weather is still nice during the day. You start a load of your laundry in the wash before slipping on your shoes and heading out of your apartment. You're hoping your first couple stops won't take too long and you can throw your clothes in the dryer before going grocery shopping. You make a quick run to the post office down the street and while the trip there is short the line there on a Saturday afternoon means by the time you're walking back your laundry is ready for the dryer.

After transferring the damp clothes to the dryer you hop in your car to make your store runs. You make several returns to various shops in the mall but of course, it's a weekend so the lines are insane in shopping malls, and by the time you're leaving the sun is starting to dip behind some of the taller buildings. Your next, and last stop is the grocery store trip for the week. It takes you a while to get all the things on your grocery list so by the time you're leaving the store the sun has pretty much entirely disappeared. You hum to yourself as you start your trip back home. Because of your space-related needs your house is kind of far from the grocery, half an hour usually but now you're caught in standstill traffic for reasons you can't see when you poke your head out of your open window. You wonder idly what could be causing such bad traffic all of a sudden as you tap against your steering wheel to the beat you're humming. After maybe 10 minutes of hardly moving at all you start to pick up on a scent you hadn't noticed before. You slowly stop your humming and drumming to pinpoint the smell and see if you can hear something to help you identify it. It takes you a couple of moments but you soon realize you're picking up the smell of an injured wolf, the metallic scent of blood mixing with the woodsy scent carried by most wolves. Straining your ears just bit you're able to hear pained panting that likely belongs to the source of the smell. Your eyes scan the area to see if you can see any indicator of where the wolf could be. Your eyes spot an alleyway a little further up the road that seems like a likely spot. You quickly pull over to the side of the road and hop out of your car, making sure to lock it as you follow the smell to the alleyway where you suspected the wolf was. You make your way into the alley with cautious steps, your ears picking up the whimpers that seem to grow with your presence.

"Hello?" You call carefully. You're met with a weak snarl as you realize it's not one wolf but two, cowering against one of the walls in the alley.

"Who are you?" One of them asks trying to keep his voice steady. He appears to be thinner than the other but he's clearly in better condition.

"My name is y/n. I could smell blood while I was driving and wanted to see if I could help." You explain to the pair.

"We don't need your help. Go away." He growls out at you.

"Are you sure? What are you guys doing out here?" You frown.

"I said go away." He snaps.

"Alright well, be safe then." You say. You're not going to argue with wolves who don't want to be helped. You can't save everyone. Before you can make it more than two steps you hear the quieter of the pair whimper out your name so softly you would've missed it if you weren't paying attention.

"What are you doing?" You hear the one you spoke to hiss at the other wolf.

"I don't want her to go Yoon. She wants to help us." The quiet wolf whispers back.

"We don't know her. She could be dangerous." 'Yoon' tries to tell him.

"I understand your apprehension, but it looks like your friend could use some help. I'm probably the best chance you've got right now." You say. 'Yoon' let's out a threatening sounding growl which you respond to with a growl of your own, followed by a command for him to stand down. You know he's scared but your wolf will not tolerate his attempts at intimidation. He lets out a whimper almost immediately, bowing his head in submission.

"Now, are you going to come with me so I can help you guys or not?" You ask.

"We'll come." He says quietly. You nod your head and lead the pair back over to your car. With the two situated in the back seat you pull back onto the main road and make your way home with the boys. When you get back to your apartment you let the boys in and show them to an upstairs bathroom.

"I'll be back, I have to grab a couple things from my car because I was coming back from the grocery store when I found you two. The frozens need to make it into the freezer." You tell them. "Wait here." You add in a voice that leaves no room for argument. You run back to your car and grab your groceries quickly placing the frozen foods in their place and leaving the rest on the counter. With that done you practically run back upstairs where the two are waiting for you.

"Okay. What are your names?" You ask them when you walk back in.

"I'm Yoongi, this is Jimin." The one who has been doing most of the talking says.

"Right. Why were you all bloodied up in an alley?" You ask next.

"We wandered into the wrong area. Got into a fight with some wolves." Yoongi says avoiding your gaze.

"Wandered into the wrong area? Are you rogues then? Runaways? Do you have a pack?" You quirk an eyebrow at them. It's not common to find wolves venturing far away from their own territories, so you wonder how these two ended up around here- there aren't any packs nearby. That's why you live here.

"Our pack was dissolved." He tells you.

"Dissolved? How?" You ask.

"Hunters took out our alpha and his family. The rest of us were forced to scatter. Some found refuge in other packs that welcomed them, others just- took to going it alone, without a pack." Yoongi explains.

"Goodness, and you two? Are you brothers or something?" You ask. They look at each other.

"No. Even though we're from the same pack we only recently ended up traveling together." Yoongi says.

"Right, well lucky for you it seems whatever wolves you ran into weren't looking to kill you. Your injuries look relatively mild. A first aid kit should fix you both up, but you should each shower first." You tell them.

"Do you have another bathroom?" Yoongi asks.

"Yes, it's down the hall. Jimin sweetie go ahead and shower here so I can take a look at your injuries better, I'll find you something to wear and bring it in after I show Yoongi the other bathroom alright? All the towels on that rack are clean so help yourself." You tell him.

"Thank you." He mutters quietly as you and Yoongi leave. You direct Yoongi to the other bathroom.

"Same to you, go ahead and shower, I'll find you something to wear and bring it to you. The towels on the rack are clean." You tell Yoongi.

"Got it, thanks." He says. You shut the door behind you and head to your bedroom to look for some clothes for them to wear. You have a lot of t-shirts and hoodies that they should be able to fit and you manage to find them each a pair of basketball shorts buried in your closet. You knock on the door to Jimin's bathroom before entering once he gives you the go-ahead.

"I'll be waiting in the hall okay? Put these on when you're done showering." You tell him placing his clothes on the counter.

"Okay thanks." He calls over his shower. You then go to Yoongi's bathroom and repeat the same thing to him, placing his clothes in the same spot. You wait on the floor next to Jimin's bathroom, since Jimin wouldn't know where to go if you wait with Yoongi is it makes more sense to wait here. It takes about five or so more minutes for Jimin to come out of the bathroom.

"I hope the clothes fit alright." You say standing up.

"Yes they fit well, thank you." He mumbles.

"That's good let's-"

"Where's Yoongi?" Jimin asks.

"He should be out soon. He's showering in another bathroom down the hall." You tell him.

"Okay."

"Do you want to wait for him before I start patching you up?" You ask.

"Yes please." He nods.

"Alright, no problem." You say. The two of you stand quietly in the hall for only a couple moments before Yoongi joins you both, rubbing a towel through his damp hair.

"Were you waiting for me?" He asks.

"Yeah, didn't want you to get confused when you came out and couldn't find us." You say.

"Oh. Well thanks. I'm done now." He says.

"Okay follow me." You say, you don't walk that far, only a couple of doors are between the bathroom and this room you're entering.

"What's this?" Yoongi asks following you in. You flick on the light switch to reveal one of your several spare rooms in this house that's definitely not designed for one person.

"An extra room." You say.

"Do you live here alone?" Jimin asks.

"Yes I do, have a seat I wanna make sure none of your injuries need to be wrapped or anything." You tell them both.

"Why such a big place for one girl?" Yoongi asks as the two sit next to each other on the bed.

"It's a long story. Where were you guys hurt besides the bruises that I can see?" You ask.

"Jimin got scratched on his side. It bled a lot earlier but I couldn't tell how bad it actually was." Yoongi says.

"Jimin can you lift up your shirt for me?" You ask.

"What do you mean it's a long story?" Jimin asks as he raises his shirt.

"What are you talking about Jimin? Well, luckily it doesn't look all that bad. I'll wrap it just to keep it clean for the night but you should be all better by morning." You reach into the first aid kit and grab the roll of gauze. "Arms up. Yoongi can you help hold his shirt in place." You instruct.

"You said it was a long story about you living here alone. What's that mean?" Jimin asks putting his arms above his head as Yoongi holds his shirt.

"I just mean it's complicated. I realize how bizarre it is for a female wolf to be living on her own but that's how things are for me." You shrug as you wrap the gauze around his body enough times to cover the fading scratch wounds.

"Well, where is your pack?" He asks.

"A couple hours away. Yoongi how about you? Any wounds that need tending? Want an ice pack for that bruise on your face?" You ask.

"I'm okay, it doesn't hurt anymore, and I got lucky, no major wounds." Yoongi shakes his head.

"Did you leave your pack then?" Jimin inquires.

"You know before your shower you barely said more than 10 words to me and now you're Sherlock Holmes. What's with all the questions pup?" You ask tapping his nose as you pack up the first aid kit.

"I was just wondering." He says looking at the ground like he's been scolded.

"Hey I wasn't scolding you. I don't really care if you ask questions. You just didn't strike me as the inquisitive type is all." You tell him gently ruffling his hair a bit. "To answer your question yes, and no."

"Yes and no?" He tilts his head.

"Jimin cool it with the third degree." Yoongi nudges his younger companion.

"I just said I don't mind Yoongi don't berate him." You say sternly causing the older male to shrink slightly.

"Sorry." He mutters.

"I wasn't like kicked out or anything and I don't think they technically severed my pack bond, so I guess if I went back I'd still be considered part of the pack but I probably won't be doing that." You shrug.

"Why not?" Jimin asks.

"Hm, that's a story for another night." You say with a hum. "Did you guys want something to eat or would you rather just head on to bed?" You ask.

"You're letting us stay here?" He blinks at you.

"If you would like to of course. It's not like I don't have the space, like I said I live alone." You shrug.

"Why are you helping us?" Yoongi asks.

"I come from a kindhearted family. My father has never turned away a wolf in need so long as they didn't threaten the safety of our family and our pack. As long as you don't become a threat to me you're welcome here." You say.

"Thank you." Jimin says before Yoongi can inquire further.

"Of course. Now, did either of you want to have dinner before going to bed or not?" You look at them. The boys exchange a look with each other before Yoongi nods his head. You gesture for the pair to follow and make your way down to your kitchen. You quickly put away the groceries that you left on the counter earlier and make something for the three of you to eat. About twenty minutes later you hand each of them plates and utensils before placing one pot of rice and another of chicken stew in front of them.

"Not to sound- rude but, what is this?" Yoongi asks poking at the stew with the serving spoon.

"It's a chicken and tomato stew that- oh dear, I forgot to ask about allergies or aversions to certain foods. I'm sorry. Is it okay? I can make something else if you can't eat it." You grimace at your oversight. You hear, rather than see, Jimin kick Yoongi behind the other side of the counter.

"No no don't be sorry. It looks delicious y/n." Jimin says.

"Are you sure? Don't feel like you have to eat it. I can always cook up something else."

"There's no need. This is perfect. Thank you." He insists.

"Are you going to eat?" Yoongi asks you.

"Yeah go ahead and make your plates." You wave a hand at them while grabbing a plate for yourself.

"Ladies first." Yoongi says.

"Don't be ridiculous. You're my guests." You tell him. He holds your gaze for a moment longer before scooping some of the rice onto his plate followed by the stew. Jimin follows suit but neither of them eats until you've made your plate and started eating.

"Do you need help?" Jimin asks when you start clearing up after dinner.

"Huh? Oh, no thank you. I've got it. You can head upstairs. Did you two want separate rooms? I can set up another guest room if you're not comfortable sharing."

"No we can share. Thank you though. Are you sure we can't help you clear up? We don't want to be burdensome."

"It's fine really. I appreciate the offer but I'll take care of the washing up. Yoongi in the bathroom you used there should be some extra toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste in the top drawer under the sink. Help yourselves."

"Alright cool. Come on Jimin." Yoongi says pulling the other wolf out of the kitchen and upstairs while you finish washing the dishes. They must have been starving you silently muse as you note the lack of leftovers in either pot. It doesn't take you long to finish cleaning the kitchen and once you're done you make your way upstairs, knocking on their door and stepping in after hearing a 'come in'

"Hey guys, do you need anything before bed?" You ask them.

"No I think we're good thank you." Jimin smiles.

"I've got a question for you guys if you don't mind." You say leaning against the door frame.

"What's up?" Yoongi asks.

"Where are your things? Like where were you staying before this?" You ask them.

"We were staying at an inn for about a month- we left a couple days ago and were looking for another place to say when we crossed into someone's territory, we don't really know who but the wolves we ran into weren't too happy about us being there, they took our backpacks when they attacked us." Yoongi explains.

"Oh I'm sorry about your stuff." You mutter.

"We didn't have a lot anyway." Yoongi shrugs.

"Right, well tomorrow is Sunday- we can make a run to the shopping mall and pick you guys up some things." You say.

"You don't have to do that." Yoongi shakes his head.

"I know I don't have to. I'm offering. I only have so many basketball shorts." You shrug.

"We wouldn't want to take advantage of your kindness." Jimin says. You scoff a little.

"I offered. Besides, given the circumstances, it's almost like I'm the one taking advantage. Since you're kind of weaker than me." You cross your arms.

"Wait what? How did you gather that?" Yoongi's eyes snap to you.

"Well, Yoongi you're a beta wolf right? Jimin more lines up with an omega but he's not, and since he lets you do most of the talking I have to assume he's also a beta. An alpha wouldn't stand for it. I have to say Jimin, you are unusually timid for a beta. Why is that?" You look between the two before focusing your attention to Jimin.

"Yoongi hyung-"

"Ah I see, he's older than you. Makes sense." You hum cutting Jimin off.

"You're very observant." Yoongi grumbles.

"How did you know Yoongi hyung was beta wolf though?" Jimin asks.

"Back in the alley when he growled at me and I growled back. He yielded. I've never met an alpha male wolf who yields to a female wolf of any kind."

"Your wolf is powerful." Yoongi mutters as a defense.

"Yes. I'm an alpha. Did neither of you pick up on it?" You ask looking between them both again.

"We weren't sure. We've never met an alpha female." Jimin says.

"Surprise." You shrug.

"That's really cool. But- if you're an alpha, don't you have a pack?" He tilts his head in curiosity. You straighten up off the door frame at his question letting out a breath.

"Like I said earlier, that's a story for another night. I'm gonna- leave you guys to sleep." You nod.

"Y/n." Jimin calls before you close the door all the way.

"Yeah?" You turn to look at him.

"I'm sorry." He mumbles with his head down.

"Don't worry about it I'm not upset. Just get some rest. We're shopping tomorrow. Don't forget." You say offering a half-smile.

"Okay." He mumbles.

"Goodnight." You tell them.

"Goodnight." Jimin says.

"Night." Yoongi calls as you shut their door. You make your way to your own room and after a quick shower, you go to bed, thoroughly exhausted from the events of the day.

HOW I IMAGINE THE BASICS OF THE MARAUDER ERA HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS…

James Potter

hogwarts years 1971-1978

james potter is indian, you cannot convince me otherwise

he has the greatest hair ever - it’s black and fluffy, and even though his father literally invented hair products, he doesn’t style it

it just naturally falls in a really beautiful way and sirius hates it

james potter is left handed, you cannot convince me otherwise

he always has smudges all over his hand and he’ll wipe the ink on remus’ face when he wants to be annoying

he’s 5′11″ (180 cm) and he had the majority of his growth spurt in his third year

he was awkward and gangly all year, and that mixed with his new crush on lily was hell in a handbasket

he eventually filled out, though, and by 5th year he wore it well

he had big round glasses because without them he’s blinder than a bat

he also n e v e r wore his tie - mcgonagall hated it more than anything and she would always fix his tie (with magic!) in class

she would also lecture him in that mom™ way

lily laughed at him one time because the end of the tie hit him in the face and that’s when james realized he loved the sound

also, most people have this idea that james was suave and flirted with lily all the time, but i disagree

he was an awkward mess when talking to girls and would make the most corny jokes, hoping lily would laugh

he only got good at flirting in his seventh year, after a summer of sirius teaching him how to be cool

but talking with his mates, james was an arrogant idiot.

but always respectful.

he was really good at transfiguration but absolutely terrible when it came to potions

also, i know he’s canonically an only child, but i think he has a younger sibling - probably a sister. he just has the older brother vibes. adopting his friends the way he did? only an older sibling, mom friend would ever.

Remus Lupin

hogwarts years 1971-1978

so i’ve already covered a lot about remus here but i’ll go off again

so i like to think that remus is secretly really good at drawing

we all took him for a writer but i am adamant in the idea that sirius is the poet, not him.

he can also do calligraphy - the writing on the marauders map was all him, fam

he’s also ambidextrous or at the very least able to use both hands pretty well

he’s definitely the tallest of all the marauders, coming in at a whopping 6′3″ (190.5 cm)

he was always lanky, too. james swore that one day he would be taller than remus, but it never happened

and i know we all like to think of remus as being the most studious child there ever was, but honestly,,, he was struggling every day and the reason he was constantly doing homework was because he was chronically behind in school work

i’m talking like at least a week out at all times

of course, the teachers knew why, and so they allowed him some slack, but still, he had the same expectations

but he was interested in most of his classes, and he worked on all of them equally

i think how he and lily met was that he needed a tutor because he was behind and she offered to help him

he just generally has this sad air around him, too

it was kind of a thing that he and snape shared for a while - two sad boys who were desperate to prove they belonged

and then, in their later years, they both take very different routes

oh, and because i haven’t said it enough, i love the idea of latino!remus lupin

and he could be bilingual!!!!

Sirius Black

hogwarts years 1971-1978

okay, here. is. the. thing. sirius is average height. i cannot emphasize this enough. i always see things about him being tall, but you are incorrect. he’s not super short, but he’s a v e r a g e .

5′8″ (173 cm)

that’s still pretty good.

and while he can whine about how short he is, he is the most handsome out of all of the marauders

he has that regal look that makes his so attractive.

if he had an awkward phase, hogwarts never saw it. sirius just always looked really good.

and he did everything else to make himself look as chaotic as he could

he never once wore his school uniform correctly.

there were always buttons undone, ties pulled loose, shoe laces untied

and he acted chaotic, too

laughing overly loud

making unnecessary comments

every day he tried his hardest to be everything that his mother never let him be

as for classes, he’s one of those kids who is naturally gifted in everything (you can thank his mother for drilling him in the years prior to hogwarts) and just really doesn’t care that he has a natural aptitude

the only class he got really excited about was dada

also, i’ve seen the idea that he’s a womanizer be a thing, but,,, no?

i mean, he definitely flirts (most of the time jokingly) because it’s just another thing that can make his family upset and separate him from that image, but i don’t think he’s especially promiscuous

he’s literally a kid, guys

oh, and with every passing day, the lily and sirius friendship goes glaringly underdeveloped and it pains me - they could have been so close to each other but we just sleep on that, i guess

Peter Pettigrew

hogwarts years 1971-1978

so i get why fanon leaves peter underdeveloped, but he was important

first of all, peter is the same height as sirius 5′8″ (173 cm) and the two of them constantly argue over who is taller

they are also constantly aiming short jokes at the other, even though they are the same height??? they’re just insulting themselves.

at the very least, peter is a half-blood (i think he might have been muggleborn but then why would voldemort tolerate him, y’know?)

i like to think that he is really in touch with his muggle side - he and remus talk about muggle stuff all the time and play jokes on sirius and james who are oblivious but want to learn

peter was also really good at finding secret passages

he found the better part of the ones on the map, and maybe he knows about a few others, too

he was definitely the cartographer of the marauders map. who else would have had the skill?

he was definitely more awkward like james, and he never quite grew out of it like the rest of them

but it was okay, because his friends were fiercely loyal to him

even if it screwed them over in the end...

i also have this idea that peter was really good at games? like, gobstones and chess were his area of expertise

it’s definitely something that he would do with the other marauders when they were stressed out or sad

and he would sneak them food from the kitchens and they would just sit up and play games for a while

i think that peter was also that marauder that would check their schedules, seeing what classes they had together, and which ones they could all bail on to hang out in the forbidden forest

i also think that peter was a huge music enthusiast

he and james definitely talked about music a lot - he took james to his first concert and it was really precious

james would sing at any an all times, and peter would know all of the lyrics, singing more quietly but supplying all the words.

Lily Evans

hogwarts years 1971-1978

lily was a nervous wreck in her first year of hogwarts

but also vvv excited - she wanted to learn everything

she had a natural talent for dada and was also pretty good at potions, thanks to snape being her bff

she struggled when it came to history of magic because, y’know, she’s brand new to all of it

lily had really long, beautiful red hair ever since her first year

and, of course, those eyes

she was always very pretty, but she also got a lot of hatred because she was a muggleborn, so she struggled with herself - especially in the later years

i imagine she’s average height or maybe a little tall, definitely not short, since harry was his dad’s height

probably 5′5″ (165 cm)

also, lily was the one who gave harry all of his sass

she definitely was the one to sass james (who loved it, despite being taken aback the first few times) and she was very adamant in her beliefs

she loved her friends more than anything, of course, but she would put her foot down when she had to

i also feel like lily was a thrill seeker

it’s why she and james got along in their seventh year when they were head boy and head girl together

he probably showed her secret passages or shortcuts to places and she couldn’t bring herself to reprimand him

she’s also a little impatient

she always sips at her tea too soon, burning her tongue

or she’s tapping her foot five minutes before class ends because she’s raring to go

she also walks fast

Severus Snape

hogwarts years 1971-1978

so snape’s biggest thing is that he will not be the small fish in the big pond - he will not be picked on

and so that has screwed up some of his relationships because he will do anything to not be the last kid picked

this also means that his loyalty is only with himself (and lily, previously, but when it was him or her that had to take the fall, it was her) so he’s definitely a lone wolf

i think his slow way of talking didn’t manifest until he was in his sixth year

it was a way to be calculating - see how people react to what he’s going to say before he says it

he was definitely a wide-eyed kid

really big, sad eyes that would have made anyone feel bad for him

they went away during the end of his third year and beginning of his fourth

he traded it for pushing his head down, not allowing anyone to look him in the eye

snape was definitely a book nerd, and he used to spend all of his time in the library with lily

but after the marauders started hanging out in there (thanks, remus and lily), he had to find a new place

he wore his robes properly, and with a lot of care since he was pretty poor growing up and he was determined to wear them as long as he could

that’s where a lot of his formal aesthetic came from

also, it was a stark contrast to the marauders - where they were carefree he was uptight, where they were informal he was not. the recipe for disaster.

also, he was pretty short up until his fifth year, where he grew like a weed

at full height, he was 6′1″ (185 cm) - just tall enough to look down at james

Dorcas Meadowes

hogwarts years 1971-1978

i’m pretty sure canon agrees with me when i say that dorcas was black, and a pureblood.

her family weren’t blood supremacists, tho, they were vehemently against voldemort and she grew up with those ideals

she was sorted into ravenclaw but quickly became a friend of lily’s because they both had so much interest in school

dorcas would help her study for history of magic, and in return lily would talk to her about the muggle world

and when i say dorcas was talented, she was talented

i mean, it’s literally canon that voldemort killed dorcas personally, so she had to be a particularly skilled witch

i like to think that in her spare time, dorcas would even make her own spells - similar to snape, they were both inventors

she was very studious - studying long into the night and always reading a book or doing homework during lunch

she was definitely taking many n.e.w.t. level classes when she had the chance

she was probably the model student that the teachers were all very impressed by - she was going places

she was head girl and a prefect, sometimes working alongside remus lupin

i also think that she had a crush on marlene mckinnon

and she thought she was being obvious about it, too - going to quidditch matches? since when had she ever done anything remotely social?

she was planning on being an auror, and she was made one almost immediately after leaving school

james would always ask her for notes, and if he said they were for remus she would always give them to him because remus was a sweet kid and he wouldn’t ruin them

5′4″ (163 cm) but she packed a punch

also, she had great cheekbones. you can’t convince me otherwise.

Regulus Black

hogwarts years 1972-1979

if you were wondering where all of the tall genes went in the family, then look no further

he’s still not super tall, but he surpasses his brother, coming in at 5′11″ (180 cm), the same height as james

he also hit his growth spurt sooner, in his second year, when sirius was still short

and where sirius is overly handsome, regulus is a little less so

he’s still handsome (don’t get me wrong), just in a more... quiet way.

he’s always been a more sombre boy, with sadder eyes and lips less inclined to smile

i think he was always the more plain boy, the more overlooked boy, and that really got into his psyche at a young age

he’s also bookish - this, again, stemming back to his childhood

he was always looking for a way to top sirius, be better than him

if you wanted a boy to speak french in the hp universe, this is him

i feel like regulus would have just been really gifted with languages? he probably knows multiple and reads a lot of literature (including muggle literature - sirius got him a book once, please don’t tell his mother)

he excels in school - went all the way with potions and fell in love with alchemy in his sixth year

but while he’s intelligent, there’s a lot on his mind so he’s never super present in lectures and he doesn’t over participate

he cuts his hair short, always clean and the perfect image that his family wants

in his first two years, he tried to talk to sirius a lot and keep their relationship at something like brothers, but sirius could never understand him and regulus could never understand sirius so they drift apart by his third year

he still feels guilty about that, after all this time

oh! also! regulus is seeker for the slytherin quidditch team. it’s just a thing he does, he doesn’t super love it or anything.

Mary MacDonald

hogwarts years 1972-1979

so mary is a gryffindor a year below lily and the rest of the gang, friends with lily because she, too, was a muggleborn and lily stood up for her against some mean older boys

i headcanon mary as being latina, or maybe just from spain

either way, she comes from a big family and is a middle child

and she speaks spanish.

she’s 5′1″ (155 cm) and you know her friends use it against her all the time, short jokes galore

and she’s very outspoken amongst her friends, making giraffe jokes in retaliation, but it just never really stuck the way short jokes did

she excelled in healing magic and was definitely an ace at potions

she also really loved divination, mostly because it worked in ways that were very different than other magic

she was always braiding hair and definitely taught lily how to braid that long hair of hers

her favorite place was the gryffindor common room because it was always so alive? it reminded her of her big family, that’s for sure

oh, and if james does have a younger sister, when he meets mary macdonald, she immediately reminds him of his sister

and so the two of them quickly become a chaotic duo, singing muggle songs together but also getting on each other’s nerves just for the fun of it

Marlene McKinnon

hogwarts years 1970-1977

she’s one year older than lily but immediately sees this cute first year, lost on the stairs and adopts her

marlene is definitely the reason that lily can be so sassy, too. she’s a terrible influence, really, especially with that mouth

marlene is a gryffindor, too, and she’s definitely on the quidditch team

a chaser, probably - she most likely helped train james when he joined the team and that’s how she knows all about his crush on lily and teases them both

and she 100% gives james tips on how to talk to lily, shhh, no one tell

she has masses of curly, blonde hair and it’s constantly being pulled into a messy top knot or ponytail

she did a dare in fifth year that involved shaving her head and she did it, but immediately freaked out afterward. lily had to find her a hair growing potion, but for a week she had a shaved head that sirius teased her about mercilessly

in her defense, she thought it would be fine at the time.

she was a talented witch, but she struggled in care of magical creatures

she just wasn’t an animal person, okay?

she swears that unicorn was going to gore her.

her favorite class was astronomy - she liked to be outside, and being in the astronomy tower was pretty close to flying.

oh, and she was tall for a girl - 5′9″ (175 cm) and taller than sirius. it was a thing

she was fiercely loyal of her friends and would have been down to duel with anyone if they said anything about lily

she had a lot of siblings and she was the oldest, so it was kind of a given

marlene would have punched death eaters if given the chance

she wanted to punch snape a solid three (3) times during her school years but lily always held her back

Frank Longbottom

hogwarts years 1969-1976

frank was a gryffindor, and a rather sweet one at that

he was a pretty social guy - he had lots of friends, despite being pretty shy. he was just a generally great person to be around and he cared about people a lot. it got him places.

he was pretty tall - 6′0″ (183 cm) - and he had a kind of dorky look to him

but he cleaned up nicely, and every year he got a little better looking

neville got his awkward phase from his dad, and when alice was pregnant, frank said he would have to apologize to his boy for inheriting those longbottom genes, one day.

he really loved movies - he and alice were kind of pop culture nerds

he was a little before remus lupin’s time at hogwarts, but they would have gotten along famously, had they been closer in age

but he definitely had a soft spot for the marauders - those younger gryffindors who were funny and bright and made living in these dark times a little easier

his best class was definitely charms

he loved that class and hoped to one day teach it.

going back to hogwarts one day was always a dream of his

he was terrible at divination, though. something about looking into the future just never felt right.

Alice Longbottom

hogwarts years 1969-1976

so we never get confirmation on what alice’s maiden name was, but i’ve seen in the fandom that it’s widely regarded that it could have been alice fortescue, and i thought that was sweet and kind of just absorbed the idea

alice was a hufflepuff, and a pretty social one at that

she was constantly chewing bubble gum and talking with her large group of friends

i like to think that she always had short hair in school - a dark brown bob that kind of bounced whenever she walked

she was short - 5′2″ (157 cm) - and when she and frank got together in their sixth year, he would always hold her hand and guide her through the crowded halls

she got where she was going so much faster that way

i like to think she’s east asian, or maybe half, on her mother’s side

she was best at herbology, and it surprised everyone when she turned out to be really good at combat magic?

turns out she was great at non-verbal magic and doing magic without her wand

she had lots of practice when helping the plants thrive in herbology - she unwittingly used magic a lot to help them grow

she had so much magical potential, neville definitely inherited that

i also think that she was the more forgetful one out of her and frank, and that’s why neville’s also kind of forgetful, himself.

Narcissa Malfoy

hogwarts years 1966-1973

so let’s get one thing straight - draco gets his incredible bone structure from his mother

this girl had the greatest cheekbones this world has ever seen

and it gave her a very regal look that would have appeared cold on anyone else

but narcissa was kind, okay? she was soft.

also narcissa is queen at wizards chess and strategy - she beat amos diggory’s winning streak in her third year - but she’s also really great at history

and it interests her!

even though lucius was a year ahead of her, he’d always ask her if he didn’t want to do his homework, offering her anything in return

most of the time it was white chocolate or some kind of cream filled pastry - she always had a bit of a sweet tooth, and lucius is her greatest enabler

her worst class was probably herbology or care of magical creatures

she didn’t like working with her hands. she said it wasn’t very “becoming”

andromeda taught narcissa how to do her makeup in her third year, and she picked it up fairly quick, very partial to a dark lip

andromeda also taught her how to do hair, but narcissa preferred to wear it down when she was younger

she’s said to be tall, so i imagine she clocks in at about 5′8″ (173 cm), taller with her usual heels

Lucius Malfoy

hogwarts years 1965-1972

lucius malfoy... where to begin

lucius was really good at reading people. it was one of his strongest talents, and it, interestingly enough, made him really good at divination and other intuitive magics like charms

and even those classes he didn’t like, he did his best to excel in because 1) expectations, and 2) lucius knew there was power in knowledge. and he wanted all of the power he could get.

but he was also great at charming people so when he didn’t want to do his homework, he was all over everyone else, not so much asking for help as just getting it after a word or two.

yes, he always had that long hair

narcissa would sometimes give him little braids when they were in the slytherin common room, but if you were present to witness it, you didn’t ever mention it

he would know and your life would be over. it’s just the facts

and did he always have impeccable style? mostly, yes.

he was always very neat with his clothes - things were always in their rightful place, no matter what

he didn’t get the pimp cane until later, though. it was a graduation gift.

and lucius isn’t actually super tall? i mean, he’s tall, but not super tall

he’s 5′10″ (178 cm)

and he never hated how narcissa and him where basically the same height? (she liked to wear heels) supportive husband, i guess.

and i guess i should tell you - they got together in their 6th year

Amos Diggory

hogwarts years 1963-1970

amos diggory was a hufflepuff, and honestly, he was really cool in his day

he’s the oldest out of everyone on this list, but he went to school with lucius malfoy and xenophilius, leaving before the marauders ever came to school

he was head boy in his 7th year and a prefect prior to

he was kind and worked hard, so the teachers thought he was a good fit

he was particularly gifted in care of magical creatures and transfiguration

he was also really good at wizards chess - he was unbeatable for a while - even against lucius

narcissa beat him in his sixth year, though, and she became the new student to beat

he had a lot of freckles - especially on his arms. they faded a bit with age but he still has quite a few

and he was really good looking?

plenty of people had crushes on him and it may have went to his head just a bit

but he was still very kind and humbled because he wasn’t the most talented or bright, but dedicated to what he loved

whoever he gets with definitely brings out more of his humility and it’s a good match for him

he’s so whipped.

he’s 5′9″ (175 cm)

Other Characters:

Mafalda Hopkirk

hogwarts years 1963-1970

mafalda is portuguese and spoke the language in her home. she mostly learned english for the first time at hogwarts. she had a few exposures before that, but hogwarts was really her first place to learn it.

she was a hufflepuff and honestly exemplified the “hard working” and “kind” traits. truly a friend to all.

she was great at flying and became a chaser for the hufflepuff team almost right away

she also really loved divination - she got into xylomancy early on and was super skilled

she loved making up omens too just to scare her friends

she teased her friends a lot tbh

she’s 5′0″ (152 cm)

oh! and in the hufflepuff common room she basically claimed one of the couches for herself - she’s a bit of a night owl so she perpetually claims the same chair and ends up falls asleep in it.

and since she went to hogwarts during amos diggory’s time, i kind of think the two probably dated at one point. it didn’t last, but maybe in their sixth year the two went on a couple of dates

Xenophilius Lovegood

hogwarts years 1965-1972

xenophilius was a ravenclaw who honestly had a handful of friends and managed to get one in every house - including slytherin

yes, he could be weird, but he was honestly fun to talk to and gave a lot of interesting insights that weren’t technically wrong, but kind of sounded like it

he was made fun of for it, don’t get me wrong, but his oddities gave him a couple of friends that would let him just ramble

he mostly stuck to himself and his small group of friends, so nothing big ever came of his teasing

plus, when he was younger he wasn’t nearly as out there. that came with age and isolation.

he was actually really intelligent and, like narcissa, had a knack for history

he was also really good at charms - he could do non-verbal spells sooner than most

i imagine he started to grow his hair out in his fourth year, but before then it was short.

all fourth year it was at this really awkward length, but by fifth year it was longer and more natural looking

he only gained his odd fashion taste in his seventh year onward.

Edgar Bones

hogwarts years 1965-1972

edgar bones is a ravenclaw with the biggest fascination with space - more than anyone else you’ll ever know

he was really interested in it when he was younger, and when he went to hogwarts for the first time, his love for astronomy just skyrocketed

good luck getting him down from his tower, because it’s a near impossible feat

he has freckles all over his face (his mom used to tell them they were constellations) and brown eyes hidden behind a pair of square glasses

he actually wears them really well, he’s pretty good looking not going to lie

and for height, he’s pretty average at 5′7″ (170 cm)

he’s italian. idk why, but i just really think he’s italian.

sports aren’t really his thing, but he grew up in a family that lives for quidditch, so he’s a pretty decent chaser if you ever put him up to it.

he’s also really good at potions, although he doesn’t really have a love for it.

if you partner up with him, it’s great because you’ll get your work done fast, but you will end up talking with him about astronomy and divination for the rest of the class.

Bathsheda Babbling

hogwarts years 1966-1973

bathsheda was average height - 5′5″ (165 cm) - with wide, peach color glasses that sort of made her look perpetually surprised

she was black with dark, coily hair that was usually kept short.

she was incredibly gifted in arithmancy and study of ancient runes - the latter which she would one day teach

she was a hufflepuff who set the standard for kindness, always helping the younger students

which made her realize she would love to be a teacher

i don’t think that she was ever given a blood status in canon, but i’ve always thought her to be a halfblood who’s pretty in touch with both the muggle and magical world

i also imagined her to have a younger siblings in ravenclaw, so she could be seen cheering for them at quidditch matches

Fabian Prewett

hogwarts years 1968-1975

fabian and his brother are more well known, so i’ll just hit the basics

so fabian and gideon are clearly twins (don’t @ me with canon, it’s not valid, here), but i also think they were in different houses

fabian was in hufflepuff, and if he ever wore his tie (he was perpetually without it) you would have been able to use it to distinguish the two of them

he was on the quidditch team - a keeper - and was actually really good despite being kind of clumsy on the ground

he was really good at charms and dada but he sucked at transfiguration

gideon was great at transfiguration, though, so it was a constant argument as to who was smarter

fabian definitely gave off younger sibling vibes - he was always joking around and teasing, but he was also very soft hearted when he wanted to be.

he gave terrible life advice, though, go see gideon for that.

i feel like he and gideon had really great hair, although idk why. i just really want them to have nice, curly red hair.

they both kept it short, though. they hated when the curls would get into their eyes.

Gideon Prewett

hogwarts years 1968-1975

now gideon was the brother who was sorted into gryffindor, and you could tell why once you noticed his reckless behavior

if there was anyone the marauders looked up to, it was probably gideon prewett

he definitely helped them set up their first prank and he created such a beautiful legacy, tbh

he was on the gryffindor quidditch team, but he was a beater

the sibling rivalry was really palpable but it made the game so much more fun

like i mentioned, he was great at transfiguration but also had a knack for potions

he was terrible at herbology, though. a plastic plant could die in his care.

gideon is the older twin, but he honestly feels like the younger one sometimes just because he’s so impulsive

but he’s fiercely loyal of his family - don’t even look in their direction or so help him...

also, i forgot to mention that they’re identical twins (because that runs in families and fred and george had to get it from somewhere, right?) and they are both 5′9″ (175 cm)

the tall™ genes came from arthurs side of the family

Bertha Jorkins

hogwarts years 1968-1975

so i know that canon says bertha jorkins isn’t very bright, but i think she was in ravenclaw

i don’t have much on bertha other than she was really curious and loved to listen to gossip

if you ever wanted the good kind of gossip, you went to her because she knew it all

she had connections, y’know?

and i like to think she was creative - probably a writer of some sort, something that would make her want to be a reporter when she left hogwarts

i also think she was a pretty girl. not super gorgeous, but pretty in a more natural, soft way.

Amelia Bones

hogwarts years 1968-1975

amelia bones is the younger sister of edgar bones, and she was a hufflepuff

an athletic girl, she was the seeker for the hufflepuff quidditch team and wanted to be a professional quidditch player for a while, although she eventually turned her gaze to becoming an auror

she was a sweet girl and had a great relationship with her brother - she could sometimes be found in the ravenclaw common room rather than her own, studying with her brother because if he didn’t keep an eye on her, she wouldn’t do her transfiguration homework

she was really good at astronomy, since her brother had been teaching her about the stars since she was little, but her real interest lay in the more tangible magics

again, i like to think that her family is from italy, so she has a really big family and she’s the youngest, which makes her a little pampered, but it’s not too bad.

Sturgis Podmore

hogwarts years 1968-1975

sturgis podmore was a slytherin in hogwarts who mostly kept his head down through his hogwarts years, never really bothering anyone

he had this habit of being able to just slip into the background, no one really noticing him or anything

he was pretty good looking at 5′8″ (173 cm) with a square jaw and a soft demeanor

but again, he had the sneaky ability to just not be seen, so he wasn’t a heartthrob or anything

he was a halfblood and sympathetic to muggleborn students, often helping them in quiet ways so that he wouldn’t get singled out by certain members in his house

he joined the order of the phoenix because he hated feeling like he couldn’t help anyone or do anything that made a difference

he was a really agreeable sort of guy - kind, intelligent, talented.

he should have been the model slytherin, but he was mostly overlooked.

sturgis podmore deserved better, smh

Florence

hogwarts years 1968-1975

florence taylor was a slytherin halfblood who mostly kept to herself

she was friends with sturgis podmore and had a couple of other friends.

she was perfectly kind to others, but she could be a bit curt with acquaintances.

but with her friends, she is the most loyal and would kill for them.

she was made head girl in her seventh year due to her high intellect and generally kind demeanor

she had a secret artsy side - she loved photography and painting, and she had that kind of dark academia aesthetic in all of her work

she liked history of magic and care of magical creatures

she loves animals and is actually really sweet with them?

sturgis may have a bit of a crush on her and there might be a bit of a friends-to-lovers storyline involving the two of them

they are honestly very sweet together - he gives her his sweaters and everything.

and she kind of sucked at potions, but it’s okay because she partnered with sturgis and he absolutely kills it in that class.

they could often be found studying together in the common room, books spread out between them as they worked on the floor

she was 5′4″ ( 163 cm) and had beautiful, brown skin

oh, and she had dimples. that’s important.

Mulciber II

hogwarts years 1970-1977

this sadistic little punk.

his full name is xavier mulciber and he’s in slytherin (obviously)

the leader of his pack (w/ avery and rosier), he’s the most well spoken out of the three of them, and was the one to scout out snape and get him to join them

he was an only child and knew how to work people from a young age

he’s 6′2″ (188 cm) and it helps with his intimidation, even though he’d much rather just talk things out

he was also pretty smart, too, and knew a lot of hexes and jinxes

when he’s cornered someone, he’ll talk to them while walking in a circle, never quite making eye contact because he thinks you’re less than.

he had black hair that he slicked back and sharp, green eyes

Avery II

hogwarts years 1970-1977

punk #2, douglass avery was another slytherin crony of mulciber

now, avery is a bit more complicated

he came from one of those pureblooded slytherin homes, but he himself wasn’t super prejudiced or terrible. he was actually kind of sweet in his first five years at hogwarts.

BUT, his family found out about his muggleborn sympathies and weren’t having it. terrible stuff went down at his house, and when he came to school for his sixth year, he was just as terrible as his summer

in his fifth year he was made prefect, but it was revoked half way through his sixth year when he started becoming nasty to students

he’s 5′10″ (178 cm)

he had brown hair and sort of big, brown eyes

Evan Rosier

hogwarts years 1970-1977

and now we have punk #3, our third sadistic slytherin

now evan rosier was the traditional broad chested, strong bully who looked like he could snap you in half without breaking a sweat

standing at 5′11″ (180 cm), he was a beater on the slytherin quidditch team, and was extremely loyal to voldemort’s cause, even then

he was more aggressive than his friends when it came to negotiations, but he still deferred to Mulciber, knowing his place.

he always had his reservations about avery, and he’d pick on him since avery was objectively lower on the pecking order, but he was also aware that everyone served a purpose

not the dumb jock archetype because while he was always ready for a fight, he knew when he had to wait things out

he was blonde with blue eyes

Dirk Cresswell

hogwarts years 1971-1978

dirk cresswell was a muggleborn hufflepuff who embodied the idea of hard working

he was really talented at everything, and it honestly can be attributed to his work ethic

he was really good at potions and was frequently the partner of dorcas meadowes

they both worked really well together, and dorcas said that she wouldn’t have any other partner because no one else was half as smart and kind as dirk

he was a commentator for quidditch in his fifth year of hogwarts but said he didn’t love it too much - the sport is much funner when you can just watch

he was 5′5″ (165 cm) and was teased for being short (and a muggleborn, but that’s not the point)

he had sandy brown hair and freckles

Greta Catchlove

hogwarts years 1971-1978

greta catchlove was a ravenclaw who mostly kept a low profile during her school years

if you did see her, she was most likely sneaking into the hogwarts kitchens where she learned how to cook from the house elves

a lot of their secrets would be told when she wrote her book “charm your own cheese”

i also feel like she probably had an entire cookbook lineup - not just one about how to make cheese

anyway there’s not much to say about greta

she’s blonde and kind of short at 5′3″ (160 cm)

she was perfectly kind

Farley

hogwarts years 1971-1979

theodore farley was a half-blood slytherin who had to work rather hard to get where he was

he was quidditch captain for his last 2 years of hogwarts, and he was a beater - and a pretty good one, too

he nearly took out james a few times, but it was all in good fun

because what is key to theodore farley is that he’s noble.

ambitious, sure, but not underhanded or sneaky. he’s the youngest out of a fairly big family, so he’s determined to prove himself, but not at the expense of what he believes

he has honor and dignity

theo was pretty strong, seeing as he’s a beater, and he stands at 5′7″ (170 cm)

he’s half brazilian and had really nice hair - you would not believe

he was very into slicking it back

he was absolutely amazing at charms and actually really enjoyed arithmancy

he struggled in potions, though, and was one time partnered with severus snape

it was horrible. he’ll never do that again.

Emmeline Vance

hogwarts years 1971-1978

emmeline vance was a ravenclaw, and a talented one at that

she was top of the class at charms and she was really good at dada, too. she was a really great spell caster and was good at dueling, too.

she’s half-veela, making her very gorgeous, but she wanted to make a name for herself outside of that beauty, y’know?

she was extremely competitive when it came to school, and she would do anything to get there

but she had a soft spot for her younger brother and would honestly do anything for him.

she was 5′9″ (175 cm) with long, blonde hair that was even more hair goals than sirius black, which is saying something.

Corner

hogwarts years 1973-1980

apolline corner was the younger sister of a few older brothers, sorted into ravenclaw

she was more of an artsy ravenclaw - she played the cello in the music class they had at hogwarts and did the art class, too, although she mostly doodled

she started doing calligraphy and she got okay at it. it didn’t last.

being a half blood, she took muggle studies as an easy class, but she ended up really liking it because it talked about some things she didn’t know or it deepened her understanding of what she already knew

plus, y’know, it helps that it was easy

she was really good in potions, too, something that her whole family was good at because her mom was a potions master and taught them all at a young age

she was absolutely terrible at astronomy for some reason, always messing up the skies by a long shot

she was 5′6″ (168 cm) and had long, black hair and brown eyes

Kdrama recs Part 2

Hello @camsthisky and anyone else who cares! I do apologize for the delay on this post--it has only been 84 years since Part I of my kdrama recs, I know, and I thought about going for a full century but this is me finding a way to de-stress after watching the first episode of I-Land alkdjfadlksj I’m gonna die of heartbreak but whatever

Speaking of heartbreak, there is a lot to be found in Korea’s wonderful historical dramas, so like, be warned—or, if you are an angst-loving monster like me, settle down for hot guys and good cries

Let us begin! (or, if you want romantic modern dramas see Part 1)

1. Scarlet Heart Ryeo/Moonlovers:

aha ahahahahahaha *weeps* You may have heard people talk about this show. You may have heard ME talk about this show. This thing was my first kdrama ever and it RUINED ME

Disclaimer: I have seen this show once and rewatched it twice and on the rewatches I can never quite make myself watch the last 4 or 5 episodes because things get tragic and messy and I get mad. HOWEVER there is a lot of good in the first part of the show and because this thing was all the rage in everywhere but Korea itself, there’s like over 300 fanfic for it and several good fix-its, including one by my good friend @thelonelybrilliance

Ok so anyway this show which could also be called An Abundance of Princes starts with a young woman from modern times getting thrown back into ancient Goryeo during an eclipse and finds herself in the body of Hae Soo, the cousin of the wife of one of the princes, and thus she gets embroiled in royal affairs which are, quite frankly, a mess. See, the evil eyeliner prince (whom I love even when he’s the worst) is plotting with his mom to get the Crown Prince out of the way aka dead BUT who should return to the Palace but the 4th Prince, Wang So, who has spent at least half his life living as hostage to a powerful family.

So has a scar that cuts across his eye and which in this society makes him a horror to look at or smthing idk he just looks extra hot to me but anyway he wears a mask and is known as the wolf dog (or as the MURDER ANGST CUPCAKE thanks @abadpoetwithdreams). He might seem a little rough around the edges at first because his life has been hell but he really just wants to love and be loved okay people need to be nice to him wtf

Other princes include:

1. the Crown Prince, Wang Mu, a good egg, not particularly charismatic but he tried to protect his lil bro when no one else would

2. the 8th prince, Wang Wook, who reminds me of a fellow named Shane and I don’t mean the cowboy

3. the 10th prince, Wang Eun, a dumb adorable spoiled bby (played by Baekhyun from EXO)

4. the 13th prince, Baek Ah, a tol soft boi, an artist, a BAE, a BRO, a SHIPPER ON DECK

5. the 14th prince, Wang Jung this son will fight everyone he’ll fight himself he just loves to fight! Not always wise but he’s a good boy and I like him a lot

6. just realized I skipped the 9th prince but nobody cares

One quick note is that IU plays Hae Soo, and I enjoy her a lot in the first half of the show where she is still spunky and rebellious...sadly her character kind of falls apart/gets too weak for my liking as the episodes progress

The MAIN reason why I feel it my duty to recommend this show to everyone despite the fact I have never met anyone who wasn’t traumatized by it is LEE JOON GI

Yes, this man:

I mentioned him in the previous rec post—he played Bong Sang Pil in Lawless Lawyer (AND IS NOW CURRENTLY STARRING IN FLOWER OF EVIL WHICH WILL BE ON ANOTHER POST AHDFOIASDHGALDSKJF FRIQ I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT MAN)

BUT SERIOUSLY LOOK AT HIS PHOENIX EYES!!! HIS RAZOR SHARP FEATURES! HIS BIG ADORABLE EARS! HIS BEAUTIFUL EXCESSIVE BANGS! 4TH PRINCE WANG SO LOVE OF MY LIFE

SOMEONE PROTECT THIS BBY

2. Hwarang: Ok so right off the bat I am going to smack down a disclaimer that I can’t stand the female lead. TRULY CANNOT. Thus, I don’t like the romance, and only care about the love triangle as far as it just shows how sad and lonely one of the guys is. (Also there are scenes of dumb old men plotting and I don’t like them either). At the end of the show, I am happy that the one guy is NOT stuck with the female lead as his wife. Good for you sir

Sounds like a show to steer clear of then, right? WRONG. This is a show that you skip through because the scenes that are good? Are GREAT

Picture this: It is the Silla era of Korea, and the queen is ruling as regent in place of her son, who has been hiding all his life because everyone wants to kill him. Well, son is now grown and must soon come into the light and take the throne. Queen who both wants her son as king but also really likes being queen decides to do everyone a favor and form an elite fighting squad out of all the prettiest and most talented sons of nobles in the land, with the idea that they will be loyal only to the throne, and thereby keep their dads from plotting to destroy everything.

Let me tell you something, these ARE the prettiest boys in the land. Good hair, good jawlines, beautiful smiles—the cast lineup includes Park Hyung Sik and his cute lil elf ear, Park Seo Joon, Taehyung (yes from BTS!), and Choi Minho from Shinee, plus two other actors who are lesser known but who are drop-dead gorgeous. Anyway. Sorry, but they really are all beautiful.

The fun thing is they don’t all get along right away, a few of them are VERY much opposed to the other for various reasons, but they all have to bond and become brothers in arms. And what they don’t know is that the real king snuck in and is one of them. 10/10 I would die for the boys! (also Tae has an older half-brother who is a lower rank than him but whom he looks up to and that makes for cuteness and pain) Once you skip the boring or annoying parts of the show, the rest has so much delight, laughter, and oops pain, lots of pain. I want to go re-watch.

Two other things I should mention about the show: a super soft side romance between secondary characters and a game of, as they call it in the show, HOT SOCCER

^pretty boy 1 (with the cute elf ear sadly on the other side of his head)

^pretty boy 2 (sad cheekbone bby) and pretty boy 3 (happy cheekbone bby)

^pretty boy 4 (the prettiest of them all, and he knows it!)

^pretty boy 5 (aka Taehyung danced around the set of a historical drama and made everyone adopt him as their bby)

3. Faith/The Great Doctor: This is a longer kdrama at 24 episodes and they didn’t have much of a budget so special effects aren’t the best or anything but I just got really attached to all the characters? This is another modern girl goes back in time but UNLIKE SHR it actually has a happy ending, so if you need a historical drama cleanse after that tearjerker/enrager, this could be it for you

Eun Soo has to navigate the ancient kingdom, keep people believing she is a heavenly doctor with special powers, and keep Choi Young alive so he can fulfill his promise of returning her to her own time. The problem with that is Choi Young does have kind of a death wish because of reasons—

Eun Soo is a plastic surgeon who would really like a rich handsome husband one day but them’s the breaks for you, aka she has had no luck in that department. Back in ancient Korea, Choi Young (played by Lee Minho in sadly the only role I really love him in) is a high-ranking beloved captain who can fall asleep anywhere. Oh he can also make electricity with his hands! :D

The story begins when the sleepy sad captain tries to escort the new king and queen to their palace. This was during the time period when ancient Korea was basically a puppet kingdom/tributary of ancient China (Yuan). The king (who is very smol and lacks confidence, but still has a good heart for his country) lived as a hostage in Yuan for many years, and his wise tol queen is a princess of that land, and someone needs to sit them down and make them talk because they actually love each other a lot. Anyway, when the queen gets injured by assassins, Choi Young goes searching for a legendary doctor, winds up in modern Korea, and steals both Eun Soo and a SWAT shield, because hey, it looked cool I guess

Lots of fun things in the show: Choi Young has a crew of soldiers who are BEYOND loyal to him, and while he doesn’t think much of the king at first because he’s been burned by kings before, they slowly become bros and shippers on deck for each other. Eun Soo does not lose her spunk or loyalty unlike other people I could mention *cough*HaeSoofromScarletHeartRyeo*, and it cracks me up when she curses people out. There are also a bunch of people (mostly bad guys) running around with special powers or gifts, including a flame lady and a flute boy, and the latter wears delightful anime wigs, keeps his sword in his flute, and plays his flute to kill—literally! I love flute boy very much

sorry it’s black and white but DO YOU SEE THE SWAT SHIELD

4. My Country: A New Age:

ANGST ANGST ANGST PAAAAAIN BUT ALSO BEST INTRO BEST FAVES BEST ACTORS

Picture this: two young men, who both hail from childhoods of trauma, who grew up together and are best friends, and who are tragically forced apart and end up on opposite sides of a conflict that threatens to upend the current rule of the kingdom. This IS the star-crossed brotp you’ve been waiting for!

Seo Hwi is the son of a general who died a criminal, and all he wants is to live simply and earn enough rice take care of his younger sister, who has seizures and a sweet crush on Hwi’s bestie. Hwi is the best softest most loyal boy with a good and true heart, a great deal of courage, and a talent for wielding a sword, and just wait till you see the best one-shot fight scene ever of him in battle, it is INCREDIBLE! (He is played by Yang Se Jong, who I now want to see more of) Hwi has an abundance of charisma points in that he picks up a small band of loyal soldier friends and they become the best little found family, lots of brotp-ness in this crew—do not mess with any of them because they will all FIGHT you

Seon Ho meanwhile is the illegitimate despised son of a powerful nobleman, only tolerated because the legitimate son died. Seon Ho loves his friend and is very protective of his friend’s little sister who crushes on him but his dad is a high class grade A power-hungry jerk and that causes complications of course. Seon Ho also has a good heart, he’s a gentle soul really, but he always gets stuck in bad positions and unfortunately makes a couple of difficult/bad choices so he hardens himself as much as he can but the consequences always kill him and he just wants to save his friends and destroy his dad and the stupid hierarchy that treats bastards as lesser. WHY IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

Seon Ho he is played by Woo Do Hwan who has so much talent I die so many times over in this show just because of the way he portrays Seon Ho like that sad sad boy is one of my favorite characters evER! Is he problematic? At times maybe but I am HERE for him he just needs LOVE AND AFFECTION AND AN ABUNDANCE OF GOOD FRIENDS BUT INSTEAD (SOMETIMES THRU HIS OWN FAULT BUT HE ADMITS THAT) HE JUST SUFFERS AND SO I SUFFERRRR

Hwi also falls in love with a woman named Hui Jae (or was it Hee Jae i can’t remember) and they are very cute together, she’s pretty cool but the show’s one failing is arguably that they kind of underuse her in the plot as the story goes on? But I still like her and she still has a good role, and she is both brave and kind and not afraid to step in or tell people off, also keep a weather eye open for patching up scenes!

Oh yeah, eVERYONE in this gets hurt/stabbed/shot/bloody, such a shame they have to take their shirts off to clean and bandage the wounds ;)

Last character I must mention is Bang Won, played by Jang Hyuk in his second interpretation of the historical figure. Bang Won is the fifth? son of the guy who becomes emperor/king, and he has his own plans for the country, so when Hwi catches his eye, he recruits him to his cause. What you need to know about him is that he has issues with his dad, is slightly unhinged, and cannot and should not be parted from the fan that he constantly carries around with him. Gotta say, Jang Hyuk is FANTASTIC (heheheheheheh) in the role, able to convey all kinds of emotion in the rise and fall of his voice, in the tilt of his head, the tears of his eyes, the flick of his fan. Give this actor all the awards!

To sum up: if you like to cry for days after watching a drama, if you like excellent heart-wrenching brotps, if you like conflicted characters, if you like amazing music and setting and plot, if you like guys with good hair and arm muscles (and

abs, thank you shirtless scenes what) this show is a Must Watch

Ok I was going to leave the historical drama post at this for now but...I’m going to cheat a little and include the one historical C!drama I just finished.Yes folks I am talking about:

5. Nirvana in Fire:

Ok so maybe the switch from kdrama to cdrama makes you uncertain. Maybe the fact that this show has FIFTY-FOUR EPISODES makes you go hell no I don’t have enough time for that. Well if you overlook this show for those reasons, you are making, and I do not exaggerate, the greatest mistake of your show-watching life!

Look, first, this drama has one of the best, most intricate, most satisfying plots in history, with like 20 characters you would die for, and second, the episodes are only about 42 minutes each, which is shorter than most kdrama episodes, so you can deal.

Once upon a time there was a general/family who were just too good to exist in corrupt old China, so naturally they were framed for treason and there was a giant massacre and everybody died, including the eldest prince who was like um dad maybe this is all a horrible mistake and the king was like no u are the mistake. Sad times.

One of the many younger princes named Jing (A NOBLE HEART, if not always the cleverest) returns home from wherever he was, finds out that not only did his prince brother die, but so did his best friend/brother in the whole wide world, Lin Shu, son of the general. Because he insists on the innocence of said bros/family, Jing becomes an outcast prince and is shuffled off to fight in wars where he can’t cause any trouble. Meanwhile, Princess Nihuang, Lin Shu’s brave, awesome, amazing, wise, incredible girlfriend, refuses to marry anyone else, and because she is too cool to be messed with, nobody tries to banish her

Cut to I think eleven years later, when the two most powerful princes are vying to be the crown prince and heir to the throne. They both try to recruit the aid of a renowned clever and sassy strategist named Mei Changsu, to help them with plotting and PR and such.

Well little do they know that Mei Changsu is actually the not-dead Lin Shu, with a completely new face (for reasons), and that Mei Changsu is a chess master setting up a long con for the dual purpose of obtaining revenge/justice for the dead and of raising Prince Jing to the throne, since Prince Jing is the only man with a good enough heart and strong enough will to make China a better place for all the people. But just to make it hard on everybody, Mei Changsu is dead set on not telling anyone who he really is—again, for reasons. He is not always successful in keeping his secret.

I literally don’t know what else to say because there is so MUCH to say, so many characters to love, and I mean LOVE. How do you get a cast this good? How is everyone so different yet so important? How do you feel bad for the emperor even when he’s slimy? How do you have to stop yourself from rooting for the prince who would destroy some of your faves? I can’t praise the charisma and acting talent in this show enough! And the music! IS GORGEOUS!

1 strategist too sassy for his own good and too clever for everyone else’s good + 1 prince who loves his mom and his dead best friend and his dead older brother more than anything else in the world + 1 gentle wise mom + 1 eternally loyal princess who would defend her loved ones with the sword if necessary + 1 sassy Elrond healer man + 1 grumpy sulky baby who loves being a better fighter than almost everyone + 1 loyal to the death, brave badass general who is going to have a stress breakdown if the strategist doesn’t take better care of himself + not 1 but 2 good boys who deserve to be protected but who are willing to throw themselves into battle if necessary + 1 antagonist tiger prince who I love and am not ashamed to say it = THE BEST OF TIMES

Wicked Child | Feeding Habits #2

Hey People of Earth!

I’m back with another writing update for Feeding Habits (Moth Work #2) at last!

A few things since the last update: this project is 100% going to be a novel and also has a title (Feeding Habits)!

Chapter two has been sort of strange to write as I actually had written a majority of it before starting over after realizing the events I’d written needed to happen later. This is why it’s taken me a while to update on this book, but I’ve finally completed the chapter and am now here to share it with y’all!

Here’s a scene breakdown of this chapter, which is probably the longest chapter I’ve written in years (6300 words). Buckle up, this update is THICC. TW: lots of religious content in this one.

Scene A:

We go through Lonan’s lonely morning routine (lol) that’s interrupted by Anya, a neighbour he vaguely recognizes. She’s there to take him up to her apartment to paint her kitchen as her husband is away and can’t do it, a plan he was not aware of! (Eliza’s voluntold him to hopefully distract him from wanting to help his friend which is outlined in update #1).

Scene B:

Anya dips before the scene starts to grab some extra supplies to make Lonan some sourdough so Lonan is tasked with watching her young son Joey while he tapes up the baseboards. This is where the “wicked child” aspect of this chapter comes in as he compares the wickedness he feels he and others in his life possess to the full innocence of Joey.

Scene C:

Anya gets back from running errands and at first, seems to be a *chill mom* but as she and Lonan interact more, we get to see that something isn’t fully right with her. From some observation, Lonan finally figures out Anya’s husband is actually dead and she’s struggling with grief.

Scene D:

Lonan is back in his apartment, filling up his bathroom sink. We know from Moth Work that one of Lonan’s hobbies is holding his breath underwater, and he does this in this scene to think. In the middle of this ritual, Eliza gets home and speaks to him as she unwinds, reading rather cryptic notes from fortune cookies she’s brought home with takeout.

Scene E:

Unbeknownst to her, Lonan’s not staying for dinner as Anya invited him to her place as a thank you! However this news doesn't break well and the two bicker until they’re both successfully upset.

Scene F:

Instead of going to Anya’s for dinner, Lonan finds himself at a church confessional. He stumbles through reconciliation in a bit of a haze and eventually heads outside where a concerned mother and her two kids ask if something’s wrong. His thoughts from scene D overwhelm him and he eventually sort of gives himself up to the moment in a bit of a chokehold with the sun.

Though this chapter took a while, I’m happy with the threads I introduced and really got to see Lonan’s mind at this point in time--a sort of lonely state of living. There’s also a lot of religion related stuff in this chapter which is always interesting to write as someone who grew up Catholic, and I was surprised at how pertinent these themes are in this book.

Excerpts:

Here’s the opening bit:

The next morning, Eliza leaves two energy shots on the counter for him, along with a slice of sourdough she bought from the bakery across the street. Both sit on a breakfast tray, room temperature from sitting out too long, icebergs of ginger floating along the glass’s surface, butter on the bread gone pallid and spongy. Next to it, she’s left a note, as she usually does: green casserole in the fridge, running low on OJ.

Lonan retrieves the television remote from the nook between the knife block and flicks the TV to life as he drinks the first shot. Gingerroot—and this morning, a new addition, carrot stems—mush against his incisors, and he swallows just as the TV brightens to an image of some amphibian, a leafy looking treefrog. The crank of their calls bulge like each red eye, the familiar husk of narration outlining the workings of mating. Lonan scoops up the second shot with his pinky and the saucer of sourdough with his index finger and thumb, takes both to the couch where he sits.

Classic Lonan (TM) interaction:

He’s mid chewing the stale crust when he opens the door, expecting a package delivery, an unaddressed sympathy card. Instead, a woman stands in the door, her hair damp and smelling like the coconut salve Eliza rubs onto her kneecaps. He recognizes her face in a fleeting, neighbour-like way, someone he might’ve held the door open for, or let step off the elevator first.

“Breakfast?” She points to the crumb stuck to the corner of his mouth.

Lonan swallows the remainder of the sourdough quickly, combing off the crumb with a shallow smile.

“Sourdough.”

“Did you make it yourself?”

“It’s probably from the back of our medicine cabinet.”

The woman laughs at this, though he’s not fully meant for it to be a joke.

Apparently a new motif in this book is the word stunning that both serves as a descriptor for something magnificent/dazzling and the process of subduing an animal (love being heavy handed about this lmao):

She peers at their half-bloody kitchen wall. “You’re doing red?”

“Eliza’s vegetarian.” At the woman’s blank stare, he turns to look at the wall, examining each plane of his throat as hot embarrassment makes him red like the paint. “Her favourite colour. We’re trying something new. Avant garde.” All things he’s heard Eliza say.

“That’s unique. Very. So unique,” she says, adding, “It’s so kind of you to offer some help while you’re in the middle of painting your own kitchen. When Eliza told me about your offer, I danced in my living room. Is that weird? I danced because I’m going to have a green kitchen—a green one.”

Lonan nods, and steps farther back into the apartment, toward the stack of paint rollers, one of many rolls of tape. “Of course,” he says.

“It makes you feel alive,” the woman says. He forgets what she’s referring to, doesn’t know her name, only vague details like the jeweled bangles she wears on one wrist, the shiny cast of hair gel stirruped around her curls, her teeth, white, like the canines of a wolf. But she doesn’t seem to notice, a starriness in her gaze as she says, “The paint. The green. It’s stunning. Isn’t it?”

Anya’s initial dialogue is some of my favourite I’ve written. Probably because of the moon mention lol. Also Joey’s just chillin and I love him for that!!

The woman’s name is Anya, and she lives three floors up. He finds this out at the same time he finds out Eliza offered to paint her kitchen on his behalf, though what Anya says sounds more like “When Eliza told me you’d paint the wall, I could’ve—what is that saying? I could’ve jumped over the moon. I would’ve. The entire thing. All its phases.”

Anya’s got a toddler named Joey. He’s turning two next month, a little boy with a curly halo for hair, two dimples Lonan sees whenever he glances up from his tape-job of the baseboards. Joey eats apple slices dipped in almond butter and watches cartoons with both feet propped onto the couch cushion, too short to dangle down. Ever so often, he laughs, a shimmery sound, like the inside of a snow globe. Lonan half-watches him, as Anya’s asked—He’s good, don’t stress—if he cries, he wants you to turn up the TV—because she’s out of bread flour and insists on making Lonan two loaves of sourdough.

Some Joey:

“Joey’s good, isn’t he?” she asks, her fingers curving around the tape company’s logo. Lonan inhales. Anya smells like Eliza sometimes does, vaguely floral, like jasmine, or cherry blossoms. “Children are little blessings. Powerful little blessings.”

Of course, he should say. There’s no other way to describe a child—he’s a blissful little thing, his only purpose to keep his feet in his two-inch socks, to stare wistfully at a television like it’s telling his fortune in a language of pictures. Of course a child is a blessing—soft cheeks like the belly of bread dough, pinchable, kissable, thumbable, hands dipped into glittery tempera paint and fingers that make chicken scratches that will never be anything but art. Of course, he should say. He knows that, he should say. But Lonan’s vision fuzzes. He sees little of the TV colours projected on the walls like a hypnotic, technicolour exorcism; he doesn’t remember what it’s like to be that small, what it’s like to have his hands expand right in front of him, like seedlings.

Here’s the title drop ft. a rewritten Bible verse (Revelation 21:8):

He wants to believe children are always powerful little blessings that stay good. He doesn’t know why he doubts her. Joey is just this—a blessing on her couch, smiling at a screen because it’s all he needs to do. But he knows better, knows the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable exist, where they all live, and how they all start—as little blessings. He’s met murderers, liars, sorcerers in the shape of his father, sisters, mothers, all the wicked things that emerge from their second deaths unscathed. He doesn’t know what makes a child wicked. If he is one. If he’s been one. How many wicked children he knows.

Eliza hasn’t returned any of Lonan’s phone calls since he tried dialling somewhere between the first and last half of the wall. It’s obvious Anya knows he wasn’t aware of the plan, which is why every few minutes, she states new reasons for her forgetfulness with the time. “Eliza ran into me in the hallway, and I’m so bad at hallways,” she said, while rolling the dough between her knuckles. “So many turns.” Brushing her benchtop with more flour: “Time as a mother is such a commodity. It’s like, what’s the down payment for five minutes alone? But Joey’s worth it. Joey’s always worth it. He’s just magnificent. Can’t stay away from magnificence.”

More interactions I adore:

“You want some OJ?”

Lonan looks up from the paint blankly, focusing on Anya in an embarrassingly slow haze. “What?”

Anya reaches over to the fridge and tugs on its stainless-steel handle. It gives with a haunted sound, a subtle sort of groaning, and emerges with a glass bottle of orange juice.

“OJ,” she says, and shakes the bottle so the liquid froths.

“Oh,” he says. Green casserole in the fridge. Running low on OJ. “We’re low on that.”

Okay sorry but I’m so in love with Anya and Lonan’s interactions lol:

“Where are you from again?” She undoes her apron from the back with one hand. It falls, a lilac clump, onto the tile, and she leaves it there, only nudging it slightly with her toe.

Her eyes are golden too. Everything in her apartment. Even the silver parts are somehow gold. How much she could pawn off for eyes like those, like individual buttons of solid gold. Anya squints, and there the gold goes, focusing on him until she leans forward and plucks a strand of hair from his jaw. It sags with green paint, and before he blinks, she’s clipped it with a pair of kitchen shears.

“You got some paint on you.”

“Oregon,” he says. “Boston. New York.”

“What?”

“You asked where I’m from.”

Anya pockets his hair. He’s sure it’s a subconscious tick—she hasn’t even realized—but still, he wonders what she’ll do with it. If she’ll send it somewhere to get scanned, bagged, tested. How much you can find out about someone with just a nib of hair.

“That’s a lot of places,” she says. “You’re basically transcontinental.”

From her pocket, Anya’s hand twitches. He wonders what she’s doing, if she’s touching the hair, or flaking off its paint, or simply flattening out her pocket.

“Are you going to clone me?” He gestures to her pocket.

Anya doesn’t look.

“I could.”

“Why?”

“You paint walls fast. You’ve got nice hair.”

“Do you collect hair?”

“Just from the people I like.”

We get to see Anya unravel a little here as she and Lonan share a drink:

He’s always been good at watching. This is what he does as Anya pulls a miniature bottle of a deep amber liquid from her fridge along with the orange juice, mixing them together so what he pushes toward him smells like ammonia. She drinks half, an easiness as she swallows, and then slides the glass to him.

He leaves it there for a while. He watches Joey, how he claps when more animals show up on screen and gets quiet during the wrangle of commercials. He’s gold just like his mother, with a gap tooth that matches the man’s who grins in every photo hung neatly on the walls. A face he doesn’t remember, not even in the hazy slots he reserves for what he remembers working the hardware store. No evidence of him anywhere else, the shoes on the front mat only women’s heels or child-sized sneakers. One hook that holds one set of keys. Only the photographs.

“Where is your husband right now?” he asks. One wine glass in the sink. One coffee mug. One saucer.

“Businessman. Very busy.”

“I don’t remember him coming into the store.”

Anya takes another sip of the orange juice even though it’s Lonan’s turn to drink. Anya looks at Joey, a desperate fondness that answers Lonan’s question for him. She looks at him like she’s searching for the face of the man in the pictures, searching because she hasn’t seen it in years.

Anya really unravelling:

Anya’s face is bloated and red, a soreness in her eyes like she needs to blink but can’t. Lonan instinctually reaches for her hand, and it’s then that he notices it—two wedding bands on her ring finger. Her fingertips jolt him, but her palms are warm, the skin there taut, like she’s been clutching it for years.

“I thought the wall would help. Green means new life. Doesn’t it? I read that in a magazine. That it brings new life, I mean. New beginnings. New, new, new.”

Lonan getting existential ft. the first Harrison mention so far tho I’ll probably cut it because I want it to be a little more impactful and also half of this makes no sense oops:

His father is a dead man. Just like Anya’s husband is a dead man. Lonan knows so many dead men. Some that matter more than others, some names he revisits sometimes at the graveyard when Eliza thinks he’s out to run an errand as innocent as replacing a bad container of cottage cheese. He knows of men who are dead but still living, like Harrison’s father who no longer exists as a person in his dimension, but a corpse, hanging around in unnecessary things like a last name, an eye colour. Beyond men, he knows of many other dead things: dead pets, dead street names, dead countries, dead houseplants, dead first ladies.

He knows what a dead father does, what a dead heart does, that these things are meant to die—an inevitable thing; a sort of giving up of flesh, burying, toiling into new soil.

This is basically a monologue:

Lonan is in love with Eliza. He always has been. He always will be. There is nothing better than being in love with Eliza. There is nothing wrong with being in love with Eliza. There is no reason to not be in love with Eliza. Eliza is intelligent. Eliza is driven. Eliza is sensitive. Eliza tries to listen. Eliza knows how to take care of him. Eliza knows how to spell words like zolpidem, wears lipstick in the shade Very Vermillion and is delighted when it rubs onto her teeth. Eliza is lucky. Eliza is hypnotic. Eliza is a holy woman, a sacred woman, a careful woman, a wicked woman.

Lonan gulps water. Too much to keep himself controlled; he sputters, splatters the mirror. He hooks his fingers over his waterline, tugging until water falls out. He paces, chews his palms like Anya did, and steadies himself slowly from the counter to the tile. He is a wicked child. Eliza is a wicked child. Everyone he knows—all wicked children.

“Accept what comes to you each day,” Eliza says, which means she’s opened three of four of the cookies. “That’s truthful. That’s raw. That’s all you need to do.”

Some Eliza dialogue I like in reply to Lonan’s statement that he can’t do things since she bars him from driving:

“You don’t need a car to do things, Lonan.” She stirs her bowl of congee, the plastic spoon scraping against the Styrofoam. “You need hobbies. Like cross stitch. Pickling. Painting neighbours’ walls.”

Lonan and Eliza being Lonan and Eliza:

Lonan secures his fingers around the tin of madeleines and shifts once more, only for her to mimic his movement. They dance like this for a moment—his shuffle left matched by her shuffle left, his step up matched by her own. More of her mascara has smudged from where she unclumped her lashes, a lazy slash of colour like a samurai belt. Even their stares match each other—as he bores through her with a nimble focus like it’ll move her somehow, she does the same.

Here’s a line I like:

As she reddens, he adds this to his list of synonyms for baptism: to tame.

Here’s an excerpt featuring self indulgence and proof I miss Harrison:

The confessional smells rank, like rotting paper and expired cologne, all of its corners seedy with overuse. Scratches mar the fabric he rests his elbows on, like someone clawed into it while reliving their sins, track marks on the floor from a rainy day. He can’t imagine anyone else but him in this small box, caged in by the lattice, mumbling incoherent sins to the priest he hasn’t even committed. Stealing a set of glass eyeballs from a garage sale. Forgetting his wedding anniversary. Missing Easter Sunday mass to go whale watching. He doesn’t sign himself at the right times or speak at the right times or thank the priest at the right times. He lies when he’s asked if he’s lied since his last confession. He mentions nothing of drinking with Anya, of not saving the sheep or the bunnies even though he knew the outcome of their lives without finishing the program. Of being a wicked child, of knowing wicked children, of not knowing the difference between wickedness and innocence, and which one he learned first. He says his name is Luka. He works at a law firm. He’s married to a Harriet, a seamstress or a stock broker or an antiques trader—he doesn’t know. He likes golfing, parcheesi, drinking martinis on yachts. He’s never overindulged, he’s loyal to his woman, he wants three kids and a house with finished floors and no neighbours. He’s a good father, a gentle father, a careful father, no wickedness, just an empty shell of goodness, like a father should be. His father is retired, and visits him on weekends—they play checkers, paint birdhouses, keep a distance but toast with spirits he can’t pronounce. Everything is good—it’s all good, all good. That’s not a sin, the priest should say but they laugh—it’s good to be good. Children are good, marriage is good, fathers are good, everything an iteration of good. By the time his confession is over and he’s well on his way out of the church mumbling I am heartily sorry, he believes his lies are true—he’s absolved into someone new, Luka married to Harriet, three kids, an empty shell, dreamily stumbling through a house with finished floors that’s actually just the sidewalk until a woman passing by with a two small children has to help him sit on the curb.

She asks if he needs something to drink, if he needs someone to call, and emerges with a half-empty bottle of sparkling water and a cell phone. She asks what’s wrong with his eye, and he doesn’t know what’s wrong with anything—with eyes, with children, with sins, with confessions, with baptisms, with orange juice, with madeleines, with wickedness, with practicing how long he can breathe underwater because he knows it’s possible just like walking on it.

One of the children, hair pulled into two plaits secured with pearlescent butterfly bobbles, pokes at her mother and asks if he’s crazy. Her mother shushes her at the same time her older sister shows him a cool trick she learned with a toy convertible. Its wheels whir. Lonan gasps. The girl says, “Even crazy people think I’m gifted,” and wheels the car again. People stop to watch. Church bells gong an elegy he’s sure he’s heard before. The woman’s sparkling water dribbles from his mouth and dampens his dress shirt. Sun eclipses his face and eats at his throat like a parasite, like it knows all the unclean things about him, a watcher, an eyeball, a scorching little thing that bullets through his neck like the tooth of a wolf. The woman shushes her children and asks if he’s got a health problem, a drug problem, any problem, and he could say yes to all three but instead keeps repeating I am heartily sorry, I am heartily sorry. And when she does call someone, no one he knows, he leans against the cool pavement, cranes his neck to the sky, and parts his lips so the sunlight fills his mouth.

So that’s it for this update! I haven’t really been drafting lately, but I hope I can get more of this written because I love sharing!

Payette National Forest

McCall, Idaho

18 year old Paige and 14 year old Kate drive down the quiet lonely roads of Idaho. Working a case on a potential "animal" attack.

Paige driving, and Kate searching the attack.

"So what's the case?" Paige asks keeping her eyes on the road, Kate clears her throat and reads the report from her laptop. "4 people 2 male, and 2 female go camping one night, they hear an unusual sound, typical teen werewolf movie, the 2 guys and 1 of the girls are attacked, and killed.

The other girl gets away bruised but uninjured" she stops reading the report. "Sounds like an animal attack to me" Paige says

"That's what the coroner's said, but they examined the bite marks and they don't look like bites from a bear, wolf or a mountain lion. They said the bones were broken, and the flesh was torn clean off".

Paige thinks for a moment "So a Werewolf? Vampire? Leviathan?".

Kate shrugs, and says "Possibly the bite marks look like ones of a werewolf".

They drive down the road, and stop at a gas station, Kate goes inside the market, and Paige fills up the Impala, as she’s grabbing snacks and drinks, the TV behind the cashier plays the news "In local news the McCall police department have found two more bodies at the Payette National Forest, the identities of these bodies are of George Fillman and Robert Peters".

Kate pays for their stuff and leaves the store, Paige is done filling up the car. "Well they found 2 more bodies in the forest".

Paige sighs as she puts the pump back "Son of a bitch" she says frustrated. They get into the car and drive to the forest.

Kate is with her friends Morgan, Sarah, and Alissa hanging out in the grass area of the quad of their college campus. During their mandatory 1 hour lunch break from work.

Talking to their friend Sarah about what happened at the diner the day before.

“Yeah for real. Holly was pissed” Morgan says to Sarah.

Kate and Alissa, laugh at this.

“Yeah, she was pissed off because this guy. I guess him and Holly had a thing in the past. He was flirting with Kate” Alissa adds.

Sarah turns to Kate “For real?!?”

She nods her head “Yeah. I felt his eyes on me the whole time”.

“I told you. He wants to fuck you!!” Morgan exclaims.

Kate shrugs, and says “Well he did ask me out”.

They all stare at her in shock, “Yep, he definately wants to fuck you” Alissa says.

“When are you two going out?!?” Sarah asks.

“Tomorrow. After work, he’s gonna take me for a ride in his plane” she replies.

They all gasp at the same time. “Are you sure that’s not code for something else??!” Morgan asks.

Kate shrugs as a reply. Unsure but kinda hoping it is.

“Well maybe, he does wanna have sex with you!!” Sarah says.

“What was his name?!” Morgan asks.

“John. I didn’t get his last name, but he also mentioned he’s a lawyer” Kate replies.

“Damn girl, going after the rich ones” Sarah jokes.

They all laugh. None of them don't know of the Cult that’s growing in Hope County. They’re all new to the whole town, and its residents.

Kate has known Sarah, and Alissa for 4 years, they met in University back in Wyoming. Morgan, she’s known her pretty much her whole life, she’s a hunter as well. Their mothers were childhood friends.

Alissa changes the subject to something else.

“So, about tonight?!. The get together!! The Whitetail Mountains!!!” she says.

“Yes, we’ll be there” Morgan says.

“Kate are you going?!” Sarah asks.

Kate hesitates on her reply. Not sure if she wants to go after all.

“Of course, she'll be there. I’ll pick her up, and take her home” Morgan says before Kate could answer.

“Who else is gonna be there?!” Kate asks.

“Becky, and Ashley the Junior Deputies, Ryan, Kevin, Dylan and a few others” Alissa says.

Sarah checks the time on her phone, and immediately stands up. “Shit, my next class starts in 5 minutes. I’ll you guys tonight” she says, running to class.

They bye to her, and head back to the diner. Having to deal with Holly for another 5 in half hours.

At Joseph’s compound, John enters the church, and sees his older brother sitting at one of the pews. He approaches him, and stands next to him as he remains sitting down.

“The girl?” Joseph asks. His voice soft, and calming.

“I’m seeing her tomorrow” John replies.

Joseph stands up, faces him, placing his hand on his younger brother's shoulder.

“I’ve seen her. Make her a wife. A mother. God has plans for the both of you” he says.

He nods, “Yes, Joseph. I will".

“What do you know of her?” he asks.

John tells him everything he knows about Kate.

“Her name is Kate. She works as a waitress, she’s a student and from Phoenix. Lived in Jackson, Wyoming”.

“God was right. Make her a part of our family. The Lord knows. He knows what he’s doing. Don't let her go."

John nods again, “Yes Joseph”.

“She must not be harmed in any way. Tell my Children not to do her any harm. I don’t want her to be scared away. You must protect her” he adds.

He nods once more, “Yes, Joseph I'll tell them, and I will do everything to protect her".

Several hours later, Kate, Morgan and Alissa leave the diner, finishing their shifts. Walking to their cars.

“I’ll pick you up at 7:30!!” Morgan yells out to Kate.

“Okay!!! See you then!!!” she yells back, and enters her car. Driving home.

10 minutes later, Kate pulls into her driveway, and goes inside her house.

Dropping her stuff to the floor in a dramatic fashion.

Haley wagging her tail excitedly at her owner.

Kate lets out an overly exaggerated groan, “Fuck!!!!’ she says, tired.

She drops herself onto one of her chairs. She really needs to get a couch in this house.

After a few minutes, she gets up and takes a shower.

The warm water feels fantastic against her skin, relaxing her muscles. After 15 minutes, she gets out, drys off and changes into some clean clothes.

Jeans, high top Vans, and a flannel shirt. Her usual attire.

She chills on her chair, watching tv, waiting for Morgan to pick her up. 7:30 rolls around, and she hears a honk outside her house.

She gets a message on her phone “I’m here!” - Morgan.

Kate gets up, grbs her jacket, locks up her house and goes into Morgan’s car.

“Sup” she greets her, followed by a smile.

“Hey” she responds, with a smile of hers.

They drive to the Whitetail Mountains, catching up, laughing and reminiscing.

“Remember when we were 10, working a case with our moms in Rogers, Arkansas and we put a mix of horseshit, dog shit and cow shit in that racist old man’s gas tank of his car!?!” Morgan asks laughing.

“Shit, yeah I remembered that, and we never got in trouble” Kate says laughing.

“So how’s Paige doing?!. How did she react to you wanting to leave the hunting demons, and ghosts life behind?!” she asks.

Kate stays silent for a moment, looking down, then out the window. Then back to Morgan.

“She’s doing good. She wasn’t mad, but umm”. She goes silent for a moment.

“She-she was disappointed,” she says hesitantly, looking out the window again.

Silence fills the car once more. Morgan breaks the silence, asking her.

“I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. But, you know I love Paige, I think she’s an awesome person. But do you think she holds you back?”.

She stays silent again, looking down at her hands.

“Sometimes” she mutters. “Sometimes” she says again, slightly louder.

“But she’s my sister. She basically raised me, protected me, and I know all the times where she held me back was because she wanted to protect me”.

They make it to the campsite. The only bonfire in the dark wooded area.

They get out, and approach the bonfire.

Alissa, and Sarah arrive at the same time they exit their vehicle. They stop and wait for them to catch up.

“So how do you feel about not hunting monsters anymore?” Morgan asks her, practically in a whisper.

“It feels great. I’ve been wanting this for a long time now” she answers.

“You know, even if you call it quits. Those bastards don’t stay away” she reminds her.

Nodding her head, “Yeah, I know but I have faith that they won’t come around” she responds.

Alissa and Sarah catch up with them, and they walk the rest of the way to the fire pit.

They approach their group of friends, who are sitting around a bonfire near the lake.

The moon shining off the water.

"Hey guys" Morgan says, approaching the group.

"Hey, it's about time you 4 showed up" Ryan jokes.

Their friends group is Hope County Junior Deputies Becky Taylor, Layla Michaels and Ashley Saunders.

Classmates Ryan Cho, Dylan Paulson, Kevin Baker, and the Wren twins Isaiah and Ivan.

Lastly, Wheaty who is a member of the Whitetail Militia, and host of the Whitetail radio. Playing pirated music.

"Yeah, well I had to make a multiple detours to pick up Sarah because of some stupid redneck fucks" Alissa says annoyed, rolling her eyes.

Wheaty who is looking down, looks up and his eyes immediately go to the short brunette of the group, Kate. Staring at her, unable to look away from her.

"Wow, she's really cute" he thinks to himself.

The 4 of them sit around the fire with their friends, and Kate sits next to Wheaty.

She gives him a little smile as she sits next to him, and his heart skips several beats.

"H-Hi" he says nervously.

"Hi" she replies with a smile.

"Are you new here?" he asks, trying to keep his cool.

"Yeah I just moved here last week" she answers.

"You go to the University?" he asks.

She nods her head, "Yeah, I'm a psychology major".

They talk for a few minutes, as well as everyone else, and Ashley steps away from the bonfire.

"That damn heat" she whines exaggerating, waving her hand in front of her face.

Morgan looks over at Kate and says.

"Girl, don't say anything about heat, or hot weather around her" pointing her thumb to her.

Ashley looks at Kate with confusion, and a slight head tilt.

"Yeah I'm from Phoenix, Arizona. So if anyone knows hot weather it's me!" she jokes, chuckling.

"So you're from the desert?" Wheaty jokes.

"Yeah basically, I was born there in August, where it's literally Hell, and then my family moved to Jackson, Wyoming" she replies.

“How’s life in Wyoming?!” Ivan asks.

“It’s pretty boring” she jokes, “But it’s really peaceful, you get used to it after awhile”.

Everyone talks, gets to know each other. Kate and Wheaty spend the whole time talking. Getting to know each other. Wheaty can feel his feelings for Kate grow by the second.

They even exchanged numbers, as well with everyone else.

Wheaty has never had a crush on anyone until he saw, and met Kate. He got more information about her, than John did researching her.

After 12am, everyone parted ways, said their goodbyes and went home.

Morgan dropped off Kate at home, and she practically passed out the second her head hit the pillow.

quite calm about the whole coronavirus

like he knows it is serious and understands how it is spread but he’s still calm about it??

honestly still wakes up like he does on normal school days and does all his academics just fine.

He peobably practices volleyball a little, too. He’s more focused on schoolwork though.

Does homework really well, too. Probably does extra work or more work than needed just because it makes him feel good afterwords.

Honestly i can see him cooking in his free time. If he doesnt feel like reading or scrolling mindlessly through his phone, he gonna cook.

Stiles, like most people, was five years old when his mother gave him the necklace. Dangling from the thin silver chain was a tear-shaped pendant holding a beautiful stone. It appeared to glow from within, and as his small hand wrapped around the cool gem, he imagined it was a droplet of pure moonlight encased in glass.

“Alright, my little Mischief.” His mother smiled at the look of awe on his face. “When your soulmate is near, that pendant will start to warm, becoming hotter the closer they are.”

Stiles fiddles with the iridescent stone hanging around his neck. The unusually warm temperature of the pendant continuously buzzes at the edge of his awareness, like an annoying insect, whispering maybe and could be. A more likely explanation is that he’s standing next to a roaring fire and feeling a nice buzz from the couple of drinks he’s had. Yeah. That’s why his pendant is warm. Not at all because his soulmate is close.

Stiles knows it’s impossible, despite what his inebriated brain wants to believe, because he knows how it will feel, had felt it once before, six years ago, as he sat at his father’s desk in the sheriff’s department. Of course, by that point, his mother had passed away and the only person he could ask about the jewelry warming his chest was his father, who was busy working. So instead, Stiles decided to wander around the bullpen.

Outside the sheriff’s office, he found a dark-haired boy, not much older than him, rubbing at his red, tear-stained cheeks. His clothes were filthy and ripped, covered in a fine layer of gray soot. As Stiles approached the boy, the warmth of the stone grew.

With his head tilted curiously, Stiles waited until the boy looked up at him. Piercing hazel eyes sent a shock through his small frame, but there was something in the vulnerable expression on the boy’s face that made Stiles’s heart ache, and though he hadn’t really shown any outward emotion since his mom died, Stiles leaned forward and wrapped his skinny arms around the boy.

A spark, like a jolt of electricity, sizzled when they touched, and as Stiles gripped him tighter, he could feel the boy’s pendant, a hot point of pressure directly over his heart.

Soulmates.

Before Stiles could say or do anything, the sheriff came out of his office with a haggard, angry-looking young man and a devastated teenage girl, who’d also been crying. The girl went straight to the older boy, almost knocking Stiles out of the way. The boy looked at Stiles and then the girl, hissing out a name. “Laura!”

The boy looked like he wanted to say something to Stiles, presumably apologize for the girl’s abrupt shove, but he was being wrapped up in a blanket and led away by the two people who’d exited the Sheriff’s office. And even though his name was called, Stiles stayed rooted in place, staring after him until the trio crossed the threshold to the lobby, venturing out of sight.

A few days later, when Stiles was cleaning, he found a file on the dining room table. Its contents reported on a house fire that claimed the lives of an entire family, save for three people: a young man named Peter Hale, his niece Laura Hale, a teenager, and Derek Hale, the boy Stiles had hugged. The boy he needed to find again because Stiles’s pendant had turned summer-warm in his presence.

But Stiles never got the chance. The three remaining members of the Hale family moved away days after the fire, and the case remained unsolved. Coincidentally, Stiles’s pendant never warmed again.

Until now.

The sights and sounds of the party assault his senses, breaking him from his reverie. His classmates talk loudly and laugh raucously. The fire, warm and bright on his face, crackles and pops, while twigs, branches, and leaves crunch beneath the feet of people as they trample through the preserve.

It’s overwhelming when combined with the memory of his soulmate being gone, leaving him before they could even get to know one another. He stumbles back and, in his haste to get away from the cacophony of noise, trips over an exposed tree root. But instead of hurtling to his death, or at least a broken bone, two strong hands grab his waist and haul him up.

Stiles’s hands fly out instinctively, gripping his savior’s biceps until his feet are planted firmly on the ground. “Thanks, du—” His words are lost because standing before him is someone Stiles never thought he’d see again. “It’s you…”

The impressive brows on the guy’s face pull down into a frown. The sharp cut of his cheekbones and jawlines create menacing shadows. Stiles would make a quip about resting murder face if not for the memory of how vulnerable this man looked so long ago, hunched in on himself as he sat waiting for his uncle and sister outside the sheriff’s office. It may have been six years, but Stiles would recognize those eyes anywhere.

Derek.

“What are you doing here? Huh? This is private property.” The words are growled harshly.

Stiles holds up his hands in self-preservation, palms out, to show he’s unarmed and harmless. “Uh, sorry, man, we didn’t know.” Shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans, he nods towards the rest of the partygoers at Lydia’s annual back-to-school bash.

“If you want, I can-” Stiles turns back to Derek, but he’s gone, vanishing as mysteriously as he appeared. If it weren’t for the ghost of Derek’s hands on his hips, he would have sworn he’d imagined seeing his soulmate again.

Kicking at the dirt, Stiles lets out a heavy sigh. Did Derek not recognize him? Of course not. It’s been six years, and Stiles has grown up a lot in that time. They both have. Surely Derek’s own pendant warmed in Stiles’s presence, though. Didn’t it? But that’s not even the most crucial question.

What’s he doing back?

The sounds of the party die out the further Stiles travels into the preserve. Without thinking about it, his feet take him towards the dilapidated shell of the old Hale house. The trees cast ominous shadows in the early autumn breeze, dark fingers stretching toward him in the moonlight. Stiles shivers, briskly rubbing his hands up and down his arms, smoothing away the goosebumps as he blows out a breath.

He hasn’t been out here in a while. After the Hales left and the unsolved case was filed away to gather dust, Stiles would come out and visit what was left of his soulmate’s childhood home. At first, he searched for clues–about what caused the fire or where Derek could have gone–but he was only a kid. He didn’t have the first idea of how to ‘investigate.’ Besides, everything he needed was in the file his father denied him access to.

When he got over the inability to solve the case, Stiles started visiting as a way to connect to Derek. What wasn’t destroyed by flames and soot became precious to him, from the scorched wolf figurine he found hidden under the crumbling remnants of a dresser to the half-burned copy of The Lord of the Rings. And as much as Stiles wanted to take the items, they weren’t his, so he left them in place and would continue to go out to the property whenever he could.

His visits slowed over the years. Now he only comes out when he’s sad or lonely. When he aches for his soulmate.

The pendant on Stiles’s necklace starts to warm again, and the hairs on the back of his neck stand. He’s being watched.

“I thought I told you to leave.” Stiles’s heart might race, but he doesn’t startle as Derek steps from the shadowy tree line.

Usually, Stiles would have a sarcastic comeback, but there’s tension in the air and he has an important question. “What are you doing back?”

Those impressive-looking brows shoot up as Derek looks at him with a scowl. “Do I know you?”

It’s hard for Stiles to distinguish between the Derek he met so long ago, the one he got to know through scavenging the bones of the Hale house, and the Derek that stands before him now. Neither version of Derek ever had a chance to get to know him. Stiles isn’t sure Derek would even want to. Why had that thought never crossed his mind? “No. I guess not.”

“You guess not.”

Crickets chirp as Stiles realizes Derek’s waiting for an answer. “Oh! Was that a question? Inflection, dude. It’s a thing. And no. I mean, you don’t know me, but I know you. Who you are at least. Derek Hale.”

The muscles in Derek’s jaw jump, and when he takes a step forward, Stiles can see his fists clenched by his sides. “Who are you? How do you know me?!”

Tumbling back with the force of Derek’s words, Stiles, who on a good day is still clumsy, trips over his own feet. His arms go flailing as he tries to catch himself, managing to land on his ass with a dull thud. He scrambles back, twigs digging into his palms, as Derek stalks forward.

“I met you once!” he yells hastily. When Derek stops in his tracks, Stiles sits up and crosses his legs. The position puts a strain on his neck as he looks up at Derek, but for some reason, maybe it’s the predatory look in Derek’s eyes, he feels the need to make himself seem smaller.

“It was the night of the fire,” Stiles continues. “At the sheriff’s station.”

Derek narrows his eyes, and Stiles can’t help but shrink at the scrutinizing look Derek gives him. His nostrils flare like he’s sniffing the air, and his features soften. “You. It was you. You gave— You gave me a hug.”

Stiles shrugs, ignoring when Derek’s eyes track his fingers as they fidget with his pendant. “You looked like you needed one. I didn’t know until after-” he waves his other hand in the direction of the ruined house- “about the fire.” He doesn’t say he’s sorry, like others probably would, somehow knowing it’s not what Derek would want.

Leaves crumble under Derek’s boots as he steps forward, and Stiles feels the heat radiating from his body as he kneels in front of him. His hand is engulfed by Derek’s as he turns it, exposing the pendant in his palm. “I lost mine.”

Tilting his head, Stiles nods for Derek to continue.

“After the fire… I don’t know how much you know about it.”

“Almost nothing,” Stiles says quickly, hoping Derek will explain.

“There are things that I can’t tell you, at least not yet.” Derek lets go of the pendant and sits back on his heels. “My sister, Laura-” he takes a breath like he’s setting up for a long story- “her soulmate didn’t— I don’t really know how to— Her soulmate didn’t care for her or our family. In fact, she hated us.”

Stiles opens his mouth to ask why, but Derek cuts him off.

“Don’t ask. It’s not something I can—”

“Okay,” Stiles hurriedly says because it’s clear Derek is uncomfortable clarifying. “It’s okay.”

“She did it. Kate. She trapped my family in the house and started the fire. I don’t have proof, which is why it remains unsolved. It’s also why we ran.”

“You and Laura. Your uncle, too, right?” Stiles glances around, fully expecting the other Hales to pop out of hiding.

“It’s just me now.”

The words are heavy, weighed down with grief, pain, and anger. Derek doesn’t need to say it, Stiles can tell from his somber tone. They’re gone. He has questions though. How? Did Kate follow them? Kill them? Where is she now?

“Why are you back?” is what he goes with, which Derek doesn’t answer.

“When we left–before we left–I took it off.” Derek gestures at the pendant Stiles is still playing with. “Tossed it. Out there.” A hand gestures at the trees surrounding them. “I was scared. Soulmates are… They’re magical, right? This person is supposed to— They’re supposed to be perfect for you. Not— Not that. Not someone who tries to kill you. I couldn’t— And yeah, you might have been a kid, but I— Not after that. Not after that.”

“I get it,” Stiles says with a heavy heart and sad smile. He’s always held onto a bit of hope when it comes to his soulmate. That one day, Derek would be back, and they’d meet and get to know each other. While he understands Derek’s reluctance when it comes to soulmates, the rejection still stings.

Swallowing thickly, he gets up and wipes the dirt from his pants. “You should talk to my dad. About the fire. He always thought there was something he was missing. If you tell him about Kate, I’m sure he’d reopen the case, figure something out that ties her to it. At least if she’s behind bars, you won’t have to keep running.”

“She’ll never hurt anyone again. I made sure of it.”

“Oh.” He clears his throat and rubs a hand through his hair. Derek looks at him, not saying anything, and Stiles has never done well with uncomfortable silences. “I guess I’ll just—” he turns to leave but doesn’t get far when a hand wraps securely around his wrist.

“No, don’t— Don’t go. Please. I—” That vulnerable look is back on Derek’s face. “I came back for— I wanted to see if I could find it. My pendant. I wanted to find you.”

“You did?”

“My uncle. He told me—” Stiles waits as Derek composes himself. “Kate was the exception. He told me I shouldn’t live my life based on what happened to Laura. I’d decided a while ago that when it was safe, I would come back.”

“For…” Stiles doesn’t want to get his hopes up, but he needs to know. “For me?”

Nodding, Derek steps into his space, placing a hand on his hips. They’re almost the same height, making it easy to stare into the kaleidoscope of colors that are Derek’s eyes. “For my soulmate.”

One Year Later

“If I trip and fall, I’m lining my window with mountain ash…” Stiles holds his hands out, feeling for trees and branches as he walks through the preserve. The blindfold Derek gave him in the Camaro fits snug around his head, effectively blocking out his vision.

Stumbling slightly, strong hands grip his waist, and the heat of Derek’s chest against his back gives him a sense of relief. He shivers as Derek whispers in his ear, “I’ve got you, Stiles. Just a few more steps.”

Once he’s directed on where to stand, he closes his eyes like Derek instructs and reaches back to untie the blindfold. “Okay.” His fingers shake slightly as the anticipation builds. The last time Derek had been so secretive was when he sat Stiles down and told him about werewolves as if he hadn’t already figured it out. A subtle ‘wolf, Derek Hale is not.

“Ready?” He startles at Derek’s touch. Deft hands replace his own to remove the covering from his eyes.

“Yeah,” he says with a nervous laugh. “Yeah, you’re killing me here, dude.”

“So impatient…” Derek tsks before kissing the side of his head. “Open your eyes.”

He squints at first, holding a hand up to block the assault of sunlight. As he blinks, the blurred surroundings come into focus. Standing before them should be the ruins of Hale house. Instead, the once run-down building is gone. In its place is a large hole surrounded by bulldozers and backhoes. A dumpster stands nearby along with pallets of bricks.

With curiosity, he takes a step forward and peers into the crater. “What is all this?” Stiles asks.

“I called the city and got permits for demolition and rebuilding.” Stiles gasps softly and looks over his shoulder as Derek shrugs. “But we’ve still got a lot of debris to clear out.”

“I thought you were selling the land, though.”

“I know that’s what we talked about, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this is my home. Forget about four walls and a roof. I grew up here, in these woods.”

Derek strides away, his hand reaching out to touch the bark of a nearby tree. “I clawed this tree when I shifted for the first time, climbed another to sneak out at night. I miss running through the preserve during full moons. I have memories here that aren’t tarnished by that night. And I want the chance to make new ones. With you.”

Looking around, Stiles can envision it. Steps that no longer creak beneath his feet as he walks up the large wrap around porch. He can practically feel the wood grain of a new railing and smiles at the image he has of them sitting on Adirondack chairs, watching the sunset through the trees.

“You can see it right,” Derek asks, hot breath fanning over Stiles’s cheek as he steps closer. “We’ll hang pictures on the walls. You’ll toss your Mets cap on the coffee table, and I’ll leave my books everywhere.”

“And you’ll insist on a TV in the bedro—”

Derek cuts him off with a kiss. “I like watching documentaries before bed, Stiles.”

Throwing his head back, Stiles laughs and the sound echoes through the trees. “You are-” he loops his arms around Derek’s neck, pulling him in for another kiss- “an absolutely ridiculous man. And I love you for it.”

Derek ducks his head and smiles shyly, the tips of his ears tinged pink. “I have one more surprise.”

“Another one?” Knowing Derek has plans to build a house for them is already so much more than Stiles could have ever dreamed. “Derek, you don’t have to—”

Derek pulls away as Stiles talks, reaching into his pocket to pull out a silver rope chain.

“Is this—” The oval pendant is dropped into Stiles’s palm and as he turns it over, the polished stone casts off different hues of blue, gold, and coppery-red in the light. Though he’s been told about it, he’d never seen the beautiful labradorite stone that Derek once wore, but the warmth on his palm tells him that this is Derek’s lost soulmate pendant. Tears well in his eyes as he looks up at Derek. “Where’d you—”

Stiles can’t help but lean into the touch as Derek caresses his cheek. “I found it a couple of weeks ago when I was walking with the surveyor. The stone was scratched and the clasp on the necklace broke, so I had to send it out to a jeweler to get fixed. Got it back this morning. Felt like a sign.”

Putting the chain back around Derek’s neck, Stiles hugs him tightly. He recognizes the searing jolt of electricity from so long ago that told him he found his soulmate, and he smiles brightly because this time Derek’s not going anywhere.

Upcoming Movies in October 2020: Theaters, Streaming and VOD

October looks a lot different than it did only a few weeks ago. As the month many movie theater owners were hanging their hats on with the hope of a weekly deluge of new movies , October has recently been vacated by high profile features that include Wonder Woman 1984, Death on the Nile, and Candyman.

Yet if you’re a cinephile or movie lover who is desperate for new stories and visions, it is not all doom and gloom. Between the streaming market of Netflix, VOD, and other platforms, as well as some smaller films willing to roll the dice on a limited theatrical release, there are still more than a few things to see in October 2020…

2067

October 2 (U.S. Only)

A high-concept science fiction setup if we’ve ever heard one, 2067 is the story of Ethan Whyte (Kodi Smit-McPhee), a young man born in a dystopian future where he learns that he might be the savior of humanity… at least that’s what people from an even more distant future are saying. In a plot twist that sounds, at least on paper, akin to a reversal of The Terminator, messengers from the future say Ethan is the key to saving the world and wish to transport him via time machine to an unknowable destiny. Chaos ensues. It’s a big idea, but we’re always game for someone swinging big in this genre.

Death of Me

October 2 (November 23 in the UK)

Darren Lynn Boseman, director of Saw II through Saw IV, returns to the horror genre again alongside Nikita’s Maggie Q and Westworld’s Luke Hemsworth. In this VOD release, the pair play a vacationing couple who wake up on an island with a horrible hangover. Yet a video on their phones seems to suggest the night before was even worse: Neil (Hemsworth) spent the evening brutally murdering his wife, as per the screen in their pockets. Nevertheless, here they are now, left with a lot of questions of what happened yesterday… and what can happen today.

Black Box

October 6

The first of Amazon Prime and Blumhouse Productions’ “Welcome to the Blumhouse” series, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour’s Black Box has a tantalizing premise. Nolan (Mamoudou Athie) survived a car accident that took his wife, but it also took large swaths of his memory of her. So in order to regain his memory, and regain a sense of stability for his young daughter, Nolan undergoes an experimental treatment where his psychologist uses hypnosis to thrust him into his subconscious where he’ll be able remember his past and face his personal demons. Literally.

Like something out of Christopher Nolan’s Inception, this horror movie shows how scary being trapped in dreams really is if all that’s in them is the stuff of nightmares…

The Lie

October 6

The second Amazon/Blumhouse feature is more of a psychological thriller than a straightforward horror movie. Originally premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, The Lie follows a father (Peter Sarsgaard) who discovers his daughter Kayla (Joey King) accidentally killed her friend… until she admits she may have actually murdered her.

How far will he go to cover-up his daughter’s sins? Well, that’s the logline, and it seems to be a gripping one, albeit reviews from TIFF were less than kind two years ago.

Hubie Halloween

October 7

Last year Adam Sandler warned the Academy that if he doesn’t win an Oscar for Uncut Gems he’d make a film so bad that it’d make “you all pay.” Well, he wasn’t even nominated and eight months after the ceremony, here we are with Netflix’s Hubie Halloween. It remains to be seen whether this is actually the bad one—for starters it filmed before Oscar nominations went out—but it is still very much a Happy Madison production, complete with major supporting roles for Kevin James and Rob Schneider.

A lonely fry cook obsessed with Halloween, Hubie spends all year looking forward to decking out his home and town the same way Clark Griswold anticipates Christmas. But on this particular Halloween, the town appears besieged by actual supernatural forces, and finally Hubie will have his time to shine. Eh, it looks more amusing than The Do-Over and The Ridiculous 6?

Books of Blood

October 7 (U.S. Only)

Who doesn’t love anthological horror? Hulu certainly does, as they’re releasing Books of Blood, the latest adaptation of Clive Barker’s multi-volume series of short stories by the same name. Previous tales from Books of Blood have been adapted into movies as beloved as Candyman and as decidedly not as Rawhide Rex. In this film version, three stories are created for the screen by co-writer and director Brannon Braga. Here’s hoping it lands closer to the former?

Saint Maud

October 9 (UK Only)

The UK will be the first to get A24’s only horror movie this year. Lucky. The feature directorial debut of Rose Glass, Saint Maud follows an unhealthily repressed and zealous young woman: Maud (Morfydd Clark). Maud is technically a caretaker by trade, looking after people in hospice. But she also imagines herself to be something of an apostle, sent to save godless folks from their sins, particularly Amanda (Jennifer Ehle), the woman she’s living with as the in-home nurse.

It’s already a tense situation, even before Maud starts hearing voices and having images of ecstasy and Heaven, and demons and Hell. Rich with atmosphere and grueling anticipation of something horrible happening, Saint Maud is a great debut for Glass and a potential star-maker for Clark, who is skin-crawlingly pious as Maud, the young woman who’s wound up tighter than a jack-in-the-box.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow

October 9 (U.S. Only)

Debuting in theaters and on VOD, The Wolf of Snow Hollow is Jim Cummings’ follow-up to Thunder Road. That earlier, underrated movie was a delightful mix of comedy and drama that won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize. So the sophomore effort being a werewolf comedy-horror movie is intriguing. Indeed, Wolf of Snow Hollow is the rare lycanthrope yarn that’s told from the point-of-view of the would-be wolf hunter, Sheriff John Marshall (Cummings).

Following a series of grisly murders every full moon, the residents of Snow Hollow become convinced they have a wolfman on their hands, even if the frustrated sheriff refuses to accept the obvious. The film also marks the final performance of Robert Forster as John’s crusty mentor.

The War with Grandpa

October 9 in the U.S. (October 16 in the UK)

For most people, having Robert De Niro as a grandfather can be an imposing experience. But kids these days! That’s at least one amusing takeaway from The War with Grandpa, the delayed family movie that sees De Niro’s grandfatherly Ed enter into a prank war with his grandson Peter (Oakes Fegley) after upsetting the youth by moving into his old bedroom—Peter’s mom and Ed’s daughter Sally (Uma Thurman) forced them into the arrangement.

While both young women are gifted pianists, Vivian is a prodigy and the center of Juliet’s envy. That is until Juliet finds the diary of another child prodigy at their prestigious conservatory who killed herself. The book includes all the late pianist’s hidden compositions… and symbols and incantations.

Ever heard the story of Faust? It seems like Juliet is about to get an up-close modern example.

Evil Eye

As the final Blumhouse effort to be released on Amazon Prime in 2020, Evil Eye hails from directors Elan and Rajeev Dassani and presents itself as both a psychological thriller and supernatural chiller. The truth of which it really is depends on how much you believe the eye of Usha (Sarita Choudhury).

The Trial of the Chicago 7

“The whole world is watching.” That’s the chanted refrain of protestors in Aaron Sorkin’s second movie as director, but it might also apply to the level of anticipation regarding this major Netflix release and potential awards season darling. The movie itself is an old-fashioned legal thriller like Sorkin cut his teeth on with scripts like A Few Good Men, but Chicago 7 feels urgently (and depressingly) vital.

Following on the heels of the Chicago riots during the Democratic National Convention of 1968—riots later deemed to have been started by the police—eight men categorized as “the far left” are rounded up for a show trial by Nixon’s Justice Department where they’re charged with conspiracy.

Honest Thief

Liam Neeson plays a thief who wants a second chance. A bank robber willing to turn himself and $9 million in to be with the new love of his life. But then crooked FBI agents (Jai Courtney and Anthony Ramos) steal his money and frame him for murder instead. So he’s left with one thing to do: menacingly hiss over the phone, “I’m coming for you.” We imagine that trailer-ready threat was what Honest Thief was sold on during its elevator pitch.

Rebecca

Remaking Alfred Hitchcock remains a tricky proposition that has thwarted many filmmakers in the past. Readapting the only one of his movies to win the Oscar for Best Picture, Rebecca, appears all the harder. Yet everything we’ve seen from Ben Wheatley and Netflix’s luscious adaptation of the Daphne Du Maurier novel is highly encouraging.

With a winning cast that includes Lily James as the new Mrs. de Winter, Armie Hammer as her husband Maxim, and Kristin Scott Thomas as his menacing housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, the film opens with the young bride trying to step into the shoes of Maxim’s dead first wife, Rebecca. An apparent light of his mansion that has been long snuffed, Rebecca’s flame burns still if only because of Mrs. Danvers’ admiration for her late mistress… and maybe the ghost who prowls the house. This is archetypal Gothic horror, and with screenwriter Jane Goldman apparently keeping the novel’s original ending, we already feel seduced by the imagery.

You probably don’t know Glen Keane’s name but you should. The longtime Walt Disney Animation Studios animator oversaw the design and animation of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin in Aladdin, and Rapunzel in Tangled. With Over the Moon, he steps away from the Mouse and toward Netflix as a first-time co-director, alongside John Kahrs (an animator on Tangled and Frozen).

The trailer for the film is like a Georges Méliès fever dream from as a little girl named Fei Fei (Cathy Ang) builds a rocket ship to take her to the moon. But once there, Fei Fei and friends meet a mythical moon goddess (Hamilton’s Phillipa Soo) who takes them on a candy-colored odyssey through the cosmos.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are two of the most intriguing new voices in science fiction. If you don’t recognize their names, go watch The Endless right now. One of the strangest and cleverest sci-fi yarns of the last decade, that film is now being followed up by Synchronic, another original tale that stars Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. The specifics of the film remain vague other than it is about two New Orleans paramedics who investigate a series of murders caused by a new, bizarre designer drug. But we already know we can’t wait to watch what horrible side effects come from these poor bastards taking it.

The Craft: Legacy

It cannot be Halloween without at least one more horror movie coming out the week of. Thus enters The Craft: Legacy, Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ legacy sequel to the original 1996 The Craft. Like its predecessor, this follows an outsider who is the new girl in school (Cailee Spaeny). She may be ostracized by the popular kids, but she befriends fellow students who have alternative tastes… like witchcraft.

The original is a touchstone for millennials and Gen-Xers of a certain age, and this reboot looks to push the story into a more complex understanding of friendship. And if it doesn’t, it’s still a Blumhouse effort so it should have plenty of spooky jumps!

Relic

October 30 (US Only)

Dementia is at the heart of this very eerie chiller where three generations of women convene in an old family home which seems to be rotting from the inside. Robyn Nevin, Emily Mortimer and Bella Heathcote star in a slow build drama which delves into the horror of losing your sense of self, as Nevin’s matriarch goes missing for days and can’t remember what happened while her house is filled with odd notes, black mould and snippets of a life slipping away from her grasp. This is the feature debut of Australian-Japanese director Natalie Erika James and it’s a stylish, chilling and confident first feature with a final act that veers into full blown horror. Out already in the States on VOD it has a UK theatrical release in the UK.

Kiyoteru Hiyama is the host of the game show. Big Al is in the role of Chef. ——Episodes——— Prologue 1- Introduction to concept. Characters see the advertisement for the game show and contemplate going on it. The winner gets a million dollars! Prologue 2- Introduction to characters via their audition videos, part 1. Kiyoteru chooses contestants. Prologue 3- Introduction to characters via their audition videos, part 2. Kiyoteru chooses contestants. Episode 1- Everyone arrives at Total Drama Island and meets each other. Some get along, and many clash. Notable big-drama-causers include Tei, Eleanor, Dandy, Parsec, Cider, Merli sometimes, and Zatsune sometimes. Koto, Genbu, Ritsu, Haiyi, Daina, and Dex stick out for being especially wild. But really, everyone’s unique personality contributes to the drama and pot of chemistry in their own way. Another camper who sticks out is Gakupo Kamui, who enthusiastically boasts about his skills in martial arts and how ready he is to win Total Drama Island. He begins to get on the nerves of the other campers. “I can out-run, out-kick, out-sing, out-wit, and even out-PISS anybody else here.” Gakupo says. “Well, can you do us a favor and GET-out?” Meiko says. Episode 2- Campers have to jump off a one thousand-foot cliff into a shark-infested lake. Then they have to pull some crates back to camp, and the team from before with the most people who jumped get carts to help them. Then they have to build a hot tub from material found in the crates. The team with the best hot tub wins the challenge. The campers who were too scared to jump off the cliff have to wear chicken costumes for the rest of the day. Despite his incessant bragging previously, Gakupo is one of the few campers who does not jump off the cliff, because it is revealed he is scared of heights, sharks, AND deep water! He even pisses himself and dramatically faints when he gets close to the edge of the cliff... and then he faints off the cliff! However, his jump isn’t accounted for, because Gakupo was not conscious during his fall. Luka has to be the one to jump in after and rescue him! This causes Gakupo of The Dangerous Dolphins to be the first campter voted off. “Well… I guess he was right about out-pissing everyone here.” Neru laughs. The other campers too scared to jump are Taya, Dandy, Eleanor, Clara, Muxin, Chris, and Kaito. Haku is at first too scared, but her best friend Neru encourages her to be brave. They jump together and yell funny things on the way down. Even though Eleanor is scared, she ends up going over anyway after Chiyu pushes her off the cliff, being sick of Eleanor’s arrogance. However, it isn’t even accounted for, because Eleanor did not jump by her own will. Clara is too frightened and doesn’t make the jump, which is surprising, because she was so enthusiastic before. However, her boyfriend Bruno jumped without her… Taya takes one look down the cliff and starts backing away, crying from fear. He feels ashamed that he’s so scared, but he cannot help it. He gets pats on the back from Clara. Dandy makes an excuse as to why he can’t jump. He says he has an open wound from a fencing accident. In reality, Dandy does not fence. Muxin is too scared, but asserts that he doesn’t have to jump off the cliff if he doesn’t want to, and that the challenge is ridiculous. He then comforts Taya, who is curled up sobbing, and tells him not to feel shame. Taya and Muxin become friends, but sadly are on different teams. Chris is too scared and actually starts crying too. People don’t expect it. Kaito is scared to jump, panics and makes a bit of a scene, and is then picked on and belittled by his brother Akaito for the rest of the day. Kaito then vows he will become braver from here on. Braver, and stronger! Leeds actually does jump from the cliff, but it causes her heart to become weak and she has trouble walking for the rest of the day. Some of the members on her team rudely deem her a nuisance, but others tell her to take it easy and understand her. Afterwards, Clara gets a bit sour at Bruno, who is her boyfriend, for jumping the cliff without noticing she was too scared. Koto jumps the cliff and she actually has fun. But afterwards, she wears a chicken suit anyway, because she loves birds. Episode 3- The challenge is to stay awake the longest in the "Awake-A-Thon" after running twenty-kilometers and eating a huge meal that includes turkey, which is known for making people sleepy. Dell of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for falling asleep first. He generally has a bad attitude and is apathetic. Haku feels heartbroken because Total Drama Island was the first time she had seen Dell since her parents’ divorce (by complete chance, even,) and he is not the warm person he used to be. Also, the time was so short. But unexpectedly, Dell acts nice to Haku right before he leaves, calling her to his room when he’s packing to go off the island. They have a nice conversation. Before Haku says goodbye, Dell says “Listen, I’m just not cut out for this wacky game. So you better win. I KNOW you can do it.” Haku begins crying and hugs Dell. Just like when they were kids. There will eventually be a list of who falls asleep first to last, but that’s quite convoluted. So I will say Dell falls asleep first, and Ruko second. Campers were not allowed to drink coffee during the challenge, rendering our Long Sleeper without access to her “secret weapon.” Koto stays up the longest, because she is a bird lover and loves birds too much to consume them. She was the only one who didn’t eat any turkey with her meal, and therefore didn’t become as sleepy. Also simply because she is badass and feral. Episode 4- A best-of-five dodgeball game. Five people are randomly chosen on each team. This is repeated three times for a total of three rounds of dodgeball. The Dangerous Dolphins win 2 out of 3 games. Zatsune of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for being scared of dodgeball. It was a fear ingrained into her from her elementary school days, when the “dodgeball kids would bully her.” Sadly, since Zatsune always acts so cocky, nobody feels much sympathy now. Taya and Muxin want to spend time with each other. Being on different teams, they can’t, and are deemed traitors. But when Tei, on Taya’s team, suggests Taya could get valuable information about the other team via Muxin, Taya refuses to sabotage their friendship. This causes Tei to begin picking on Taya… Episode 5- A three-on-three talent show contest. Dex of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for no reason. He wasn’t even in the talent show! Dandy wanted to get chosen by his team, the Dangerous Dolphins, to be in the talent show, claiming his “talent” was unmatched. However, he wasn’t chosen because he didn’t exactly have any real actual skills despite his claim! Taya, Luka, and Gumi are eventually chosen by the Dangerous Dolphins for their talents in music. Luka will play piano, Taya will play the violin, and Gumi will play the electric bass as they all sing a song cover. This causes Dandy to criticize their every note and call them amateur. Given Taya and Gumi’s low self-esteem, Dandy’s criticism gets to them before the final talent show. As for the Killer Porpoises, Yuuma, Ritsu, and IA get chosen as the team’s musicians. They form more of an idol dance group, with a pre-recorded background track. (It will also be a cover.) The Dangerous Dolphins actually win. If they were to have lost, Dandy would’ve probably been the one voted off for being a prick. Episode 6- Campers have to go to the forest, stay out there overnight, then race back to the campgrounds in the morning. Yukari of the Killer Porpoises gets voted off. See, it wasn’t really Yukari’s fault, but… she got attacked by a bear and is now too injured to stay for the game, so the voting off was mandatory, even though the Killer Porpoises otherwise won. Everyone becomes more-or-less traumatized at this, and feel very hurt for Yukari. Episode 7- Campers have to face their worst fear, specific to each camper. Yuuma gets voted off. Koto’s worst fear is the perfume department from Spongebob, because that scene scarred her as a little kid. So the host of the game show, Kiyoteru, magically opens a door to the perfume department at a real department store and Koto has to walk through it. Koto only makes it 5 steps in before she runs out, screaming. She does not pass her fear test! Yuuma is scared of the Crab Rave because there are too many crabs. So he is taken to a part of the island overrun by crabs, and Kiyoteru turns on the Crab Rave song and they all start dancing. Yuuma dives into the water screaming. But the crabs chase him. He doesn’t pass his fear test. Taya attempts to outwit Kiyoteru and pretends he is afraid of strawberry shortcake, which is actually his favorite food. But everyone remembers how scared he was in the first challenge at the cliff. So Taya’s specific challenge is to jump off the cliff this time… Episode 8- Row a canoe to Boney Island, portage across the island, start a bonfire, and canoe back to camp. Wil gets voted off. Episode 9- Hunt the other team dressed as deers with paintball guns, or if one is a deer, avoid being hit by them. Piko gets voted off. Episode 10- Create a three-course meal for Kiyoteru to judge. Three chefs are chosen from each team. Miku gets voted off. Episode 11- Participate in a set of three-out-of-five trust exercises. Shian gets voted off. Episode 12- Make it through Big Al’s life-threatening and disgusting boot-camp challenges. IA gets voted off. Episode 13- Participate in three extreme sport challenges. The challenges are "sofa skydiving", riding a moose while avoiding being tossed off it, and water-skiing on mud. Lapis gets voted off. Episode 14- Eat a nine course meal of disgusting food made by Big Al. Drink shot glasses of blended cockroaches. Yuu gets voted off. Episode 15- Episode 16- Episode 17- Episode 18- Episode 19- Episode 20- Episode 21- Episode 22- Episode 23- Episode 24- Episode 25- Episode 26- Episode 27- Episode 28- Episode 29- Episode 30- Episode 31 Episode 32- Episode 33- Episode 34- Episode 35- Episode 36- Episode 37- Episode 38- Episode 39- Episode 40- Episode 41- Episode 42- Episode 43- After this challenge, the teams are disbanded. It’s now every camper for themself. Episode 44- Get through several rounds of torture, lasting at least ten seconds in each one. Eleanor gets voted off because she can’t take torture. Episode 45- Receive a clue to find a key hidden somewhere in the island to open a treasure chest containing a prize. Ritsu found a dud chest and his prize was… getting voted off. Episode 46- Avoid getting sprayed by Big Al’s water gun in a game of hide and seek. Parsec gets voted off. Good riddance! Episode 47- Build a bike from scratch, and then race it. Who rides who’s bike? Anyway, Dandy gets voted off. Probably because he’s 7 foot 4 and huge. He probably broke all the bikes. Episode 48- Watch a horror movie and then avoid being captured by a "deranged killer". Gumi gets voted off because she was scared. Episode 49- Catch the specific animal assigned by Kiyoteru and bring it back to the campground unharmed. Taya had to bring back a raccoon. He came back first. Koto had to bring back a bear. She came back second. What a total beast! And I’m talking about KOTO! Genbu had to bring back an eagle. He came back third. Leeds had to bring back a frog. She came back fourth. Kaito had to being back a squirrel. He came back fifth. Haku had to bring back a moose. She came back sixth. Tei gets sent off because she couldn’t bring back a mere chipmunk. The little chipmunk was trained in king-fu and ended up beating her up! Hooray! Episode 50- Compete in the following while handcuffed to one of the other campers: eat disgusting food with your hands behind your back while the person handcuffed to you feeds you, return a fragment of Haku’s cursed tiki idol to Boney Island, and assemble a totem pole with the wooden heads of the voted out campers in the order that they are eliminated. Taya gets voted off. Episode 51- Campers have to find Kiyoteru and Big Al after being washed away by a storm. Leeds gets voted off because her condition came to its worse. Her weak heart had finally failed on her and she suffered a heart attack. She was doing so good in the game despite her shortcomings, and will serve as an inspiration for many. Leeds will not die. She is in good hands. She will get top medical care. Now, a twist is revealed to the audience. Everyone who was voted off actually went to go to a beautiful island resort. The remaining campers still don’t know about this. When Leeds finally gets consciousness back, she finds she is in paradise. At first, she thinks she is dead. The room then fills up with everyone else voted off, and she begins crying. “They really killed you?” She cries. “No, Leeds!” Yukari says. “You’re alive! You made it… to Paradise Island!” Episode 52- An episode dedicated to the Island of Losers, which is actually a five-star island resort paradise. Yukari has fully recovered from her injuries. Gakupo and all the others who were eliminated early finally get their time to shine! The losers will also be involved in the episodes to come, as they will be the audience. Episode 53- The campers have to find their way back to camp after being left in the wild with limited supplies. Unexpectedly, our total beast, Koto Fuuga, comes back last. Rumors have it, this is because she found a bird sanctuary and got distracted. Episode 54- Survive a series of dares, given by the eliminated campers until someone drops out. Haku is forced to do something horrible by Tei. Tei dares Haku to joke around and portray offensive stereotypes. On national TV. She just can’t do it… She drops out, but not before insulting Tei to her face. But Kaito says Haku made the right choice. She sacrificed her chance to win a million dollars so that Tei didn’t have to force her to make a choice that could hurt people when they see it on TV. Kaito thinks Haku deserves an amazing consolation prize. Genbu respects Haku for this as well. Episode 55- The two remaining campers have to climb a pole and retrieve a flag, walk across a board on top of shark-infested waters while carrying an eagle's egg, and run a race to cross the finish line. Kaito is about to give up… but… There is ice cream at the finish line! Kaito makes a mad dash to the finish line and wins Total Drama Island!! Episode 56- Kaito won! But there is a twist. In order to actually win the million dollars, he has to find the a case containing the $1,000,000 and bring it to the Dock of Shame before anyone else does! This is a race between him and all the other campers! *Pidge and Keith had been together for a couple of years, and Pidge had accepted the “mate” thing rather quickly. In wolf terms they were already a married couple.

* neither one of them are really into making a fuss about things, but Keith still wanted to give Pidge something, so he saved up some cash and bought her a ring. It was a simple band with a crescent moon on it. (Not silver, for obvious reasons)

*literally everyone who has ever known them is shocked. Pidge had never really talked about her love life, and suddenly she walks into work with an engagement ring. Like wtf did you do this weekend, Pidge??? Her family is also surprised when she tells them. They knew she had a roommate but as far as they knew it wasn't serious. the only one not surprised is Matt cause he's visited a few times and figured it out. Keith's dad isn't surprised, cause this asshole saw it coming a mile away. The Kogane family is small. The only other relatives they really have is Texs sister, her husband and son, Shiro. Who was pretty much the only person besides his dad that Keith could trust growing up. Everyone thought Keith would never want to get married or anything of that nature. His aunt is so happy and welcomed Pidge with open arms.

*Pidges family wants to come visit right before the wedding, “you'll barely notice we're there!” And Pidge quickly realised the weekend they plan on coming is the full moon, and she tries to convince them not to stay at the house. The spare room is a mess, there's dogs everywhere. Why not stay in a nice inn? She even offers to pay. But her parents insist she shouldn't waste her money on them and they come to the house as planned. Keith has to leave before sundown with the excuse that he has to work that night. When in reality he's gonna go into the woods like normal and pass out at his dad's in the morning.

“Keith been gone for awhile, they must work him like a dog.”

“Haha that's one way to put it.”

*the wedding is a small thing. Just family and a couple close friends. They rent out part of a cute little rustic inn and have it outside on a lovely autumn afternoon. Tex and Pidges parents are crying. Shiro is Keith's best man. All the decorations are very minimal and simple.

*They're married for about a year when Keith figures it out before Pidge. He and Kosmo could tell very early in that Pidge was pregnant. However Keith didn't want to say anything in case he was wrong or something happened. But as soon as Pidge starts getting morning sickness and gets doctor confirmation, Keith had never smiled so wide.

*Its almost like a switch went off inside him. Lone wolf Keith was now alpha super dad and was prepared for whatever Pidge or the baby would need.

*He painted the nursery, cooked dinner, and any spare moment he had was spent rubbing Pidges growing belly and cooing at the baby.

*Pidge didn't know what to do with all this extra attention, but she saw how happy Keith was and let him be.

*Even when Keith went full werewolf, there was no escape. He kept close to the house, nuzzled the baby bump and curled up with her protectively.

*Keith wasn't the only one though. Tex became world's best grandpa and helped Pidge with things Keith didn't know the connections to.

*When the pack was still around, many of of Krolias friends were having children, and then Krolia herself got pregnant. That's how he learned there was a specialized clinic in the next town over for supernatural beings that they would go to for check ups and delivery. Keith remembers going there for his childhood checkups.

*Because it was so difficult to get appointments there, Tex helped them set things up and give contact info for the midwife that used to deliver children for Krolias pack.

*the midwife still remembers Keith and gushes about how grown up he is. Apparently he was one of the chubbiest babies she had seen with a mess of curls on his head.

*The mystery wasn't whether or not they were going to be a boy or girl, the real question was if it was going to be wolf or human. Keith had explained that in the case of human/ wolf relations, offspring either had the condition or they didn't. None of that half breed nonsense.

* According to Krolias journals, there was ways to tell if children carried the wolf gene. But they were all old stories about conception or birth being on full moons, or having the mother hold silver or take a tonic with wolfsbane and things of that nature. Pidge obviously wasn't going to risk her babies health for superstitious beliefs. Let it be a surprise.

*They had a girl. With black hair and golden eyes.

*Keith cried.

*They named her Cassandra.

*Keith suggested spelling it Kassandra. Beause Krolia, Kosmo, Keith, Kaite. Pidge shut it down though, on the grounds they were not gonna turn their house into “Keeping up with the Koganes”.

*the dogs love her, borderline obsessive honestly.

*there's just three nanny dogs running around the house. Pidge or Keith will usually lay her on her mat and the dogs will lay beside her and keep an eye on Cassandra while they do house work. It seemed like out of the three, Cassandra favored Kosmo most. Her parents wondered if it was a sign she was a wolf.

* It took time for children to change. Usually they start to show signs of the condition after age five. Though both Pidge and Keith noted she got extra cranky around the full moon and the obvious connection she had to other canines. If Cassandra was a werewolf, it would not be a surprise.

*Pidge is usually the one busy with work, so Keith is often left to take care of Cassandra during the day. His dad had to lend a hand a lot at the start after Pidge went back to work. It wasn't until then that Keith realized he knew nothing about children. He had a new found respect for his dad who did this all by himself.

*Cassandra was a cheery and energetic little thing. The dogs were her best friends, and she liked to visit her mom at work where she could see the wolves they were taking care of.

“Mommy, she has a tummy ache.” A four year old Cassandra had said when she visited one of the wolf enclosures. Pidge had the female checked out, and sure enough she had an infection in her stomach that was swiftly treated. Pidges colleagues liked to joke that Cassandra was the “Wolf Whisperer”, Pidge laughed along with them, despite that she knew the much more likely truth.

*it was around this time that Cassandra started to want to go out with Keith on Full moons. She liked to howl and pretend she was just like her father. However, her fifth birthday came and went and still no signs of change. Keith argued that maybe it would not happen until she was older. Then she turned six and still nothing. They began to think that maybe Cassandra's behavior was learned from Keith and Kosmo and not at all from being a werewolf.

*One night when she was almost seven, Cassandra began to wail and throw a tantrum in the backyard. Keith was about to change and run off into the woods like he did every month, and she wanted to come along, shouting that it wasn't fair. Keith and Pidge tried to comfort their daughter, explaining why she couldn't go.

* “I want to go! I'm a wolf too!”

It broke Keith's heart to hear Cassandra cry out like this. But he knew if she hadn't started to turn by now, it was very likely she never would.

“Cassandra, you are not a wolf.” He said sternly.

“Yes I am!”

“No. You're not.”

“Yes. I. Am!” She screeched. And just as she did a pair of fangs sprouted from her mouth and claws came out. Her eyes turned into those of a canine. Keith could feel his own begin to take on the same form as Pidge stared in shock.

Maybe she was a wolf after all.

To the Perfection Chapter 1 Part 6

I’m late and I’m sorry ! But here is part 6. Part 7 will come this weekend as planned (I hope) :x

Thomas Monday January 21

The weekend had been a two-day long disappointment for the teenager. Raphaël's departure this morning was a release. I don't have to see their idyll anymore. It was painful to watch Dan with his brother. To see them laugh, cuddle and kiss together. Thomas was itching to be at Raphaël's place, and it pissed him to be only a spectator. Consequently, this morning, he had felt relieved. But he was also more than embittered. That was probably why he arrived at school annoyed. Of course, he kept his warm smile. He looked happy to everyone, and it was fine this way. But inside, he was seething.

"Hey, look what Jessica texted me yesterday." told him Joël.

The message was a compliment about his great personality. Such a good joke.

"Looks like I earned one point." laughed the cocky lad. "Maybe she has a secret crush on me ?"

"Sure. Keep dreaming man." ironised Thomas.

Joël snorted. Next to them, Ilhan was finishing his history's assignment. He didn't start the second semester pretty well.

"Dudes, I don't know how I will manage science." he complained. "Thomy, could you help me ?"

Hell no. Why me ? Sure, he was the best student of their promotion, but he had others things to do than help this boots-licker.

"Sorry." he smiled. "But I'm busy enough with all the stuff we have to do. Besides, I'm sure you'll manage pretty well."

Ilhan nodded, half convinced. They entered in class, but Cody held the ginger back. He waited a moment, until their friends were far enough. What ? The young millionaire had always been smarter than the others. Two years ago, he had reproached Thomas for being distant and not really involved in their friendship. But my smile convinced him of the contrary, right ?

"Why you didn't tell us your mother has left you to move in England ?" he asked curiously. "We could have support you."

"How do you know that ?"

Thomas realised it was a stupid question. He already knew the answer.

"Raphaël told me." revealed Cody. "He said you were feeling sad, but you wouldn't admit it. Man, Joël and I are your friends since kindergarden. You should have tell us."

He did that on purpose. Maybe the ginger was seing evil all around, but he thought Raphaël wanted to tear Dan and him apart.

"My brother is wrong." he said with a cheerful smile. "I'm perfectly fine. I mean, yeah she left and I've felt lonely, but it's okay now. I reckonned it was useless to alarm you for nothing."

Cody stared at him a moment. You can't read me. Thomas knew he had a warm face and inscrutable eyes.

"If you say so..." finally mumbled Cody.

And they went to class.

When he arrived at home this evening, Thomas shivered. He sensed Raphaël's presence everywhere. Even my so-called friends are his pawns. His brother engulfed his life. It was so infuriating.

"Thomy ? What is going on ?"

He suddenly realised he was showing his feelings, and quickly put up a front. Dan looked at him, perplexed.

"I'm fine." smiled the ginger lad. "I'm going to cook something amazing tonight."

"I thought we could order something." suggested Dan, much to his surprise. "Spend the evening playing videogames together ? I mean, only if you already did your homework ?"

Thomas nodded slowly. It was hard to not rush in his friend's arms and express his feelings. Resist to him is so hard. Not only Dan was cuter each day, but he also seemed more and more attentive. Of course, it was only as a friend, but the teenager didn't see it that way.

Pizza arrived half an hour later. They started a new game Thomas got from his mother. It was kind of fascinating, and time passed rapidly. But the young lad wasn't focused on the screen at all. He was watching Dan as his friend wolfed down the first pizza. And the second. His stomach was getting rounder which each slice. Once he finished, the junior rubbed it, causing a soft blech.

"That was good." he sighed, satisfied.

Then, he went back to the game. I should too. But... I can't let things like this. Seing Dan taut belly turned him on. Since his friend was always shirtless, he could note even the tinier details. His tummy button getting slighly deeper. His bulging lovehandles. Nothing could escape from Thomas's stare. Dan suddenly handed him an orange juice.

"Here." he said. "Fresh and with low-sugar rate, as you like it. We're close to the hardest level, so better be refreshed."

He knows me so well, this is insane. Thomas let his fantasy got the best of him.

"Thanks." he smiled. "I'll go grab some foods we could snack on."

He brought more than enough. The pie leftover, cakes, his secret box of cookies, some donuts from Mrs. Liliano's bakery... But Dan didn't notice it, or he didn't say. He only took a big morsel of pie, and gobbled it.

For two hours, it continued like this. They lost the level several time, because Thomas was way too distracted. His friend's middlesection was growing larger. He was getting very bloated from all the food and the beer he was consuming. The way his belly pushed his sweatpants made the ginger hard as rock. Each burp made him shiver with pleasure. And Dan continued to eat, barely taking the time to rub his overstuffed stomach. Finally, when he finished the pop-corn Thomas just brought, he grunted. He leaned back to find a more comfortable position. His belly gurgled, way too full.

"It's... burp... so hot in here." moaned Dan.

Thomas didn't answer. He was frozen, unable to do anything but stare. Feed someone and see him overfed was already his turn-on. Seing Dan in this state was more than that. His dick was sore. His lust prevented him to think clearly. Only the fear of Dan's reaction stopped him to do the worst mistake of his life. His friend groaned, his two hands rubbing his distended belly.

"No wonder I'm... burp... growing fat." he said. "I can't control myself around food, can I ? Sorry for... burp... that. You shouldn't see me like... that."

"Like the glutton you are ?" asked Thomas before thinking.

Dan looked at him and smiled.

"Yeah, something like that."

The ginger lad hesistated. What the hell am I doing ? He wanted to rub Dan's belly, who was obviously in pain. He wanted to put him at ease. To soflty kiss him. To fuck him. No way. This is a terrible idea. Thomas stood up, hiding his erection as best as he could.

"Imma going to sleep." he declared. "Tonight was awesome Dan, thank you. And don't worry, I don't mind if you indulge a bit. I think it's nice."

And he went to his bedroom in order to masturbate.

Dan Thursday January 24 – Friday January 25

When he entered in the sheriff office, Dan sighed. He adjusted his too-tight belt. I shouldn't wear it anymore, it pinch me. Gregory noticed him and came closer.

"Hi Dan." he greeted. "Here to pick up your criminal sister ?"

It was dark humor. Since she gratuated from highschool, Shirley was often in troubles. Nothing too bad, but she ended up several times at the police station. His brother, maybe because he was naive, maybe because he was too kind, was having her back. He had been lying to their parents all the time for her.

"What did she do this time ?" he asked.

"Well, she entered illegally in a private property. The owner reported her, but he hasn't sued her."

Dan sighed again. Why she turned like this ? During highschool, she had been a top student. Good grades, good in sport, she had had a nice boyfriend. She had even managed to make Raphaël genuinely smile once, which was rarer than snow in summer. Well, she had been in troubles during 11th grade because she was suspected to be homophobic... Since then, she never had made up with their parents. Or him, to be honest. They weren't close at all since she tried to hurt Raphaël. His boyfriend had forgiven her, but Dan had some difficulties to do the same. He only helped because he thought he didn't have a choice.

"The sheriff will be there soon." announced Gregory. "You can wait him here. Donuts ?"

Dan looked at the pastry, but declined politely. He had to save room for Thomas's diner. And he was already gaining weight fast enough. Not even one month, and all his clothes were already snug.

Eventually, Mr. Davos arrived, and after a talk, Dan's sister was free. She looked at him with a smile.

"Sorry big bro." she said. "I promise it'll never happen again."

He wasn't that stupid. It the fourth time in less than a year.

"What were you thinking ?" he asked, irritated. "You know how much troubles you could have been in ?"

She shrugged, detached. She was wearing a dirty speckled pullover, with holed jeans and shoes. She had left their parent's home last july. She had crashed in her boyfriend's home during one month. There, she started to be on a slippery slope. She did pickpocketing, but luckily the victim didn't press charge against her. Then, she tried to resell drugs from the local dealer. Without any real evidence, the sheriff had to let her go. Eventually, around november, Sam had dumped her, and Dan couldn't honestly reproach him for that. She had been a real pain for him, always demanding more and more. I don't know why she became like this. I don't know how to help.

"Shirley, where are you living now ?" he wondered. "And how are you eating ? You should go back home, or come live with me in the worst case."

"No way." she answered. "I'm free, totally free. I'm not going to see mom or dad ever again. And I don't want to live with you."

She looked at him, mocking.

"I wouldn't be able to hold myself... You're so hot."

"That's gross." he mumbled. "Just... Don't do anything stupid again please."

He felt powerless. What can I do ? Maybe he should let the sheriff lock her up. Maybe he should talk with his parents ? He was so hesitant that in the end, he did nothing. He let her go on her own. I'm not the brother of the year...

On the next day morning, Dan was cosily munching cookies when he got a call from Mrs. Muller. She told him the school had contacted her about Thomas, because he and his friends caused a little blast during science lesson, apparently on purpose. What does that mean ? He would never do that. Anyway, he got suspended, which worried his mother. Dan took the time to reassure her. When he hung up, he was very concerned. Thomas's friends probably had done a mistake, and they were all grounded. But still, it wasn't the ginger's type to get suspended. Wait, science class... Does that mean it's Darren who punished them ? Well, Dan's bestfriend was new in town, he probably wasn't affected by Thomas's natural charm. So this explained that. Dan decided to text him, but Raphaël suddenly called.

"This is improper." he said straight. "We can't tolerate this."

I guess he's talking about Thomas... His apathetic tone warned Dan. He was angry.

"I asked you to be nice with him, and this is how he behaves ?" continued Raphaël. "There are limits he can't cross."

The junior didn't answer yet. He knew how to act when his boyfriend was annoyed.

"There's no way I could let such a bad behaviour unpunished. I understand he's sad and he feels abandonned, but this is no excuse to be suspended from science class. I'll call him straight this evening."

"Honey, can you let me handle this ?" suggested Dan.

It was the good moment to step in.

"I'll talk to him, and we'll see what happened. You know it is possible he did nothing wrong. Maybe he just helped his friends ?"

A cold blank followed. Nice, he's thinking. He's always overreacting when it comes to his little brother.

"Fine." eventually agreed Raphaël. "But make sure he perfectly understands. I don't want mom to tell me things like that ever again."

"Sure thing love. Just... try to calm down, there is nothing to be worried about. I got this."

Now I can relate to Mrs. Muller. It must have been very difficult to raise these two boys. Raphaël was already quite a phenomenon. But Thomas had his own difficult character. Dan knew it as soon as he arrived at home this evening.

"Are you gonna lecture me ? Because my teacher already did." he said as an introduction.

The young teenager was smiling. His most genuine, most cheerful smile. I see right through this mask.

"It depend." he answered prudently. "What did you do exactly ?"

"Nothing. Ilhan got the formula wrong and he made a blast. I laughed. Our teacher thought we did it on purpose... I don't like him."

Oh good. So... I guess I'll make the presentations later...

"Look, I'm not your father, and I trust you." Dan stated. "Just be careful next time okay ? We don't want your mother to come back here only to yell at you, right ?"

Thomas lowered his eyes, seemingly ashamed.

"Yes." he said. "Sorry Dan. I didn't intend to put you in trouble."

"No problem buddy."

"To make it up to you, let me cook an amazing diner." suggested the teenager.

And that was how the junior knew he was gonna end the day completely full.

Shirley was the main character in the High School Game. She’s a strong and indepedent young women, but who as a tendancy to find troubles. She doesn’t has a major impact in this story, but she’ll be there.

Also, The College Society is coming back next week with chapter 3 !

About VLD Season 7

waI’m just making this post about my overall view of Season 7, and just my opinion on it and maybe shed some light in what seems to be a storm happening right now on Tumblr.

First of all I’m gonna do a run down of character by character then the plot.

Hunk: I am pretty sure we can all agree that this was Hunk’s great arc. And honestly? It was amazing! Guys! I never ever heard of Hunk talking about his families in the previous seasons! So we just saw this side of Hunk who honestly just loves his family? But I am going to back track here. Hunk got a new ability with his bayard!

Here is what I am most impressed about Hunk this season. He was the one keeping the team together, and he was the glue. When they were stranded in space, we could clearly see Hunk not participating much in the “Sound off” but we did get to hear about his inner emotions. His fantasies about Earth. Hunk has grown so much though?? Like, when Keith was being all negative and the rest of the team HE held them together HE was the one who was vulnerable and said “I am scared too, we are just taking this out on each other out of fear.”

And when Keith and Lance were fighting, and Keith flew away, and was going mad, he was the one who didn’t let him go, even though Keith wanted to, he was the one who didn’t lure them in the trap over Earth. Hunk showed so much potential this season and I love that we finally got his arc?

Getting back to Earth though, man, he was so happy to finally be the place he calls home, and we could see how DEVASTATED he was to see it just CRUMBLE. When Hunk saw his teammates reunite with their families, he looked really happy for them. It broke me to see that Hunk couldn’t come to a family, but later on when talking to Keith, he broke. Saying how he fantasized about coming to a peaceful Earth, that he took for granted how the best welcoming he could of gotten was from his own family. And with the help of his teammates and Keith, he was strong. He looked for his family. He was scared. But the thing about Hunk is that he knows this, he acknowledges his feelings, he doesn’t push them aside. He works with it and is brave. And honestly Hunk went from someone who didn’t even wanna go and save the universe, to a person who grew to care about so many people. He finally got reunited with his family in the end and with Shay, it was lovely.

Keith: Alright! I know there was some controversy with Keith this season but I want to leave my input. I don’t like it that when Keith has one fall back, you make it seem like his development was a waste. Like when he was going mad, or when he said those hurtful things to his team, when he made fun of Lance. Guys!!! Keith is still HUMAN! (I mean he’s half Galra) BUT GUYS!! Keith is STILL developing. He isn’t going to turn into a different person like poof magic. No it takes time. He is still developing as a person, and yes he’s going to have fall backs like any other person! But guess what? He WAS MATURE and acknowledged it and APOLOGIZED. Now THAT is maturity, realizing your actions and knowing when to apologize for it. Keith was an awesome leader, I don’t care what you guys say. He went from being a reckless shit to doing things on his own to actually trying to keep the team together, because it was best for everyone. That even if they were lost in space or in any situation, they had each other. He knew everyones weakness and strong points, and he never downgraded someone. And Keith giving advice and being more open and Vulnerable? What he said to Hunk, that to be Brave you can be scared but you also can be strong while still being in fear. He saw a teammate, no... his friend going through some heavy shit and comforted him. Keith has grown a lot guys, I just wish you guys wouldn’t let these small fall backs just bombard this whole image of Keith. Keith was a foster child, no mother, father passed away, had conduct issues, got close to Shiro in the Garrison, had him missing, tried to find Voltron, he went from being a lone ass wolf to someone who can now stay with his team and call them friends. He truly cares about his team and he is not selfish.

Keith and Krolia: Now I loved, their relationship this season. Yes we got a little less screen time, but think about the things we did see? Them stuck in the prisoner thing from the generals. Her along side him in the Black Lion. Her pulling up a Simulator game and bonding with Keith and his friends. She was being a mother. And that scene where she said she was going to help Kolivan. We saw how distraught Keith looked, it looked like his world was crashing down, he just got his mother and now she has to leave again. Now Keith from the previous seasons would of been pissed off and let his emotions override him. But no, she said she was sorry to leave him for a second time and he said that it wasn’t goodbye. He knew they would see each other again. He gave her the knife, and he thanked her for the time he spent with her. He really cherished those moments with his mother. Then she said she loved him, and he said he loves her back, and he called her Mom TWICE in this scene, and then that hug? Gosh, That was such an emotional scene, he’s accepting feelings and he has finally accepted Krolia as his mother. This is exactly what I wanted from their relationship. Then obviously at the end she met back up with him at the hospital, which it was nice to see Keith wake up to a loved one.

Pidge: Now I don’t really have much for Pidge, but I do know she has been getting a lot of hate. And guys, I know she’s said hurtful things, especially to Lance. But she is also the youngest crew member there. She was away from her brother and father for such a long time and never gave up on them. Pidge still has some developing to do, but she does care for Lance guysss!!! Pidge is a pretty dense person, she’s got so many things on her mind that she doesn’t know that when she says something, it rubs off the wrong way sometimes, Lance has been shown to always have a front, and Pidge just hasn’t seen that he is actually hurt. I just want this Pidge hate to stop, like come on guys just relax this is normal and happens in real life, she will realize at some point and apologize.

Allura: Allura had a step back this season, but we saw more of her powers and her determination. Even though Earth wasn’t her home planet, she knew what it was like to lose her home and would do anything to protect another’s home. At the beginning Allura seemed annoyed at Lance, not going to lie. But then she suddenly, blushed and told him to stay safe? There is no doubt that Allura and Lance have developed a lot together, and Allura does care for Lance a lot. I loved this. I just hope Allura and Lance aren’t forced together because I mean, that would really suck... Allura is not over Lotor, we saw how she reacted when they were talking about him, I think she’s caught up on how good of a friend Lance has been to her, that she’s confused. But Allura was great this season!

Shiro: Shiro seemed like a mentor this whole time to me, which was really nice actually. He was the one that opened the Paladins minds into connecting with their Lions, that they can do anything, and he could PILOT ATLAS, he was such a strong captain, and Shiro has gone through so much? I’m actually pretty upset that Adam got killed off and Shiro only got 2 seconds to grieve, but they were at war and were under a clock, Shiro will have time to grieve on his own. He was the voice and he fought Sendak himself. Shiro is a true warrior, and I respect him a lot.

Lance: Finally, my thoughts on Lance! First of all, I love Lance. Second of all, we have seen Lance bouncing around this season, by that I mean. We have seen times where he’s silly, times where he’s angry, and times where he’s sad and can’t pull up a front anymore. One thing I noticed is that Lance accepted Death like 3 times or more this whole season. And its honestly pretty sad. I will show images here

Lance reuniting was his family was really sweet, we can tell he has a soft spot for his nieces and nephews. And even though he is the youngest, he is still protective of Veronica, but Veronica is also protective of him. This is sibling love. I loved how Veronica joined the garrison and has become this big part in the war in battling to save Earth, and we got to see her battle along side with Lance. That moment when Lance was calling Red and Red wouldn’t come to him, broke my heart and I will show the image but Lance was ready to accept Death along side his sister, the first thing he did was make sure she was safe. We really have a look on his relationship with his family, but we couldn’t have very big moments since it was war time.

Veronica teasing Lance about Allura was sweet, but Lance’s reactions were pretty off. I saw somewhere on a post that Lance would actually talk about his feelings for Allura with a loved one if he was sure of it, but he didn’t seem so sure. In fact he was denying it. He’s not ready to be vulnerable. I think things are changing here. (Plus Lance didn’t even flirt with Romelle lmao) + Lance protecting Pidge was so cute.

My Hopes: Honestly this is mainly Lance things but, we have gotten flash backs from everybody besides Lance. Pidge got flasbacks, Hunk got them this season, Keith got them this season along with Season 6, so did Shiro. And Lance, we never really have gotten much from him? Here is what I want to know.

-We know why every Paladin joined the Garrison besides Lance, so why did he join?

-We don’t know much about Lance’s past besides certain moments from the garrison or some memories with his family or movies.

-Now, I want a closure with Lance. I want Season 8 to be his arc. He needs it. We need him coming to terms with his emotions and how to solve them. I need these answers.

-I want to know about his sword

Klance: Alright here are my thoughts with Klance this season. We had pretty good interactions, not going to lie and I will post the images here and do a quick run down one by one!

Keith could of chosen anyone to lead but he chose Lance, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t just because he is the right hand of Voltron, he see’s potential in him and trusts him. And Lance is so worried when Keith leaves on his own??

I am paralleling this because! Lance said something nice about Keith when he didn’t have enough energy to pull up a front. This moment between them mattered a lot to Keith, he even has those lines under his eyes to show a pained expression. Lance denied the bonding moment because he wasn’t emotionally ready to accept it. Keith was hurt by that. Now, Lance said something nice about Keith, acknowledged him and a moment. Keith then wasn’t emotionally ready and rubbed off the wrong way. Come on guys, you know they bicker, yes its gotten better but they also haven’t seen each other in a long time and they’re all stressed with war and under pressure, they don’t have BREAKS!

Also these moments

Honestly, I think Lance was letting out hurt feelings. He was hurt when Keith left, we know this, there was something missing with him ever since we left, I don’t need to pull up the screen shots for you guys to know that Lance was hurt when Keith left, he said he was going to miss him, and he had the best reaction when Keith came back too. BUT THERE WAS NO TIME FOR TALKING, THE UNIVERSE WAS AT STAKE PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION!!

Notice how Keith didn’t say anything back to Lance? He just accepted it and even flew off just BECAUSE LANCE TOLD HIM TO?!? Like guys c’mon lol.

Honestly this just reminded me of their friendship. So yeah!

Now, I’m not saying “ohh klance still has a chance” I honestly don’t know at this point. As far from my knowledge.

Allurance seems forced. I honestly think there might be a love triangle in Season 8 between Allura Keith and Lance. and this is why I think that.

LM said that Lance will be with someone from the beginning of the show with someone from the very first episode. Lots of Klance was hinted, but Allurance was also in the way. They said Lance’s end game would be a slow burn and Klance is a pretty slow burn... also Keith has all the qualities Lance wants. Lance can be vulnerable with Keith. As of now he can’t with Allura, he doubts his feelings around his friends and others. because he is afraid of not being taken seriously. I don’t think this is love. But we will see. I mean We just got to wait you know?

The thing is I also think Season 8 won’t have so much battles, it is 13 episodes, Sendak, Lotor, and Zarkon are dead. Earth is safe, Haggar is still out there but they can defend Earth now, yes the Altaen thing is still a mystery but I don’t think it would take so many episodes to defeat Haggar, it usually takes 2 episodes or 3 just to defeat a the enemy. Season 8 has a lot of potential to give us a lot of answers and closure we need.

We need Lance and Keith’s relationship to patch up, we need them to catch up, we need them to fucking fix this and TALK one on one, with no pressure and let things out. Lance was clearly affected, and I think Keith will realize this.

We need Lance talking to SOMEONE about all his insecurities, we need someone to take him seriously, and I think with his family with him, he will feel stronger. Maybe even Veronica will be the one that helps with this since she was such a big part of Season 7.

I want to know why Shiro is Lance’s hero, I want to know his past, I want to know all of this.

I want to see Pidge apologize and tell Lance he is like a brother to her.

Hunk has already realized things have been off with Lance but he hasn’t had time to bring it up.

Allura can talk to Lance, I want a closure on Allurance as well, these feelings need to be spoken of.

And if Bi Lance arc is still a possibility, then that would be great.

As of now I hope Season 8 is just a closure season and gives us all the answers we want and see development, answers and closure. Season 7 was really rushed because they were at constant war, there was no breather ever, you guys have to understand that. Things have to be put aside sometimes when you have to fight. Just stop hating on the season so much like guys!

They said Voltron wasn’t a romance series, it was an action cartoon!

We have GREAT characters!

Romance is just something to have fun with. Now I know you guys want LGBT rep and trust me, I want it too, I don’t like what they did to Adam, but lets wait, things happen for a reason, and we will probably get those answers before or after season 8. For the mean time, relax, let out your energy, and just lay the hype down more for the next season. I know we got kinda baited but we don’t have to get overly upset.

GUYS THIS SEASON HAD A GREAT PLOT AND THE BATTLES WERE AMAZING I WAS ON EDGE THE WHOLE TIME STOP HATING SM OVER SHIPS JUST CHILL FOR A SEC LOL

Queens of Mewni Theory

WARNING. LONG POST.

Okay, so, this is gonna sound like kind of a crackpot theory. But please just hear me out.

Last night, I was trolling the svtfoe tag and I found this posted by @pablisqui:

So, I saw this and thinking its 100% real since I haven’t found anything discrediting it, I started going around the circle and naming off each Queen of Mewni as far as we’ve known. While doing so, I noticed something...

Each mark correlated with a Queen has an opposite that is the OPPOSITE of the Queen!

First, we’ll start out and work in.

Skywynne, Queen of Hours, is opposite of her son, Jushtin, the Uncalculated.

Skywynne is the first Queen we meet in The Magic Book of Spells. We learn that she is very strict and disciplined in her magic and royal duties, and that she has a drive to be unlike her mother Lyric - who was sloppy and uncaring in her duties. Skywynne created powerful and intricate spells that she would spend countless amounts of time (lol) on to perfect.

Jushtin is the first (and only) Boy Queen we meet. He is Skywynne’s eldest and has really no ambition towards the throne or the duties. He seemed to only be a kid taking a lot of power in his hands and using it for his own gain. focusing on his posse and hot math tutor. And his spells were so simple and uncaring that all he ever did for them was raise his cane and say a simple word.

TL;DR : Skywynne is disciplined and Jushtin is somewhat ignorant.

Second is Comet the Chef and Rhina the Riddled.

Comet is seen as primarily peaceful and caring towards the world. She is undoubtedly loving towards her daughter Moon, and craves for strong peace between Monsters and Mewmans. She intended to do so through her baking, which was the best in all of Mewni that even Glossaryck loved it. While we couldn’t really see into the depths of her spells, her cooking was so intrusive and well-thought out that it took up multiple pages to explain her famous tomato pie!

Rhina is seen as thought-provoking and exceptionally intelligent. She made all of her spells through riddles, and though there was little wand movement, she achieved it through moving the actual piece of her wand. Rhina is seen to care little for politics and outside engagement and rather towards creating more riddles and figuring out her own life. While she doesn’t write much about her daughter, Celena, I thought of her conception as an unwelcomed one since her husband had seemed to be very malicious in their marriage (though I’m sure she loved her child). She simply states that she will pass on the wand and book as instructed to her daughter, as that is what is meant to happen.

TL;DR : Comet is highly compassionate and Rhina is highly logical.

Next is Estrella the Drafted and Dirhhennia the Heaped.

Okay, this one is a bit more simple than it really should be.

Estrella is shown to be very thoughtful towards art, since she doesn’t write nearly more than explanations of things in her drawings. While she didn’t do much during her reign as Queen, rather spending her times drawing than making drastic changes to her Kingdom, she was revered by her people and loved greatly. She is also definitely one of the more decorative Queens, since she is seen with a large boa, sitting on a cushion, and with a wand that’s like a paintbrush.

Dirhhennia is shown to be...interesting. She speaks in the language of balls, has simplistic spells, and seems to over explain everything. She really has a straightforward mindset, one that sticks on a topic during her explanations and seems 100% done with people not understanding her lone-wolf-ness. She also used to write sad poetry within The Book of Spells, an attribute I completely forgot about until I re-read her chapter again. She is also shown dressed in what looks like a mumu in very unsaturated colors.

TL;DR : Estrella is artistic and Dirhhennia is bland (sorry Dir baby)

Okay, now to the second ring. Starting with Solaria the Monster Carver and Festivia the Fun.

Now, Solaria is of course perceived to be the most terrifying of them all. And she really kind of is. Her treatment of monsters is something that can only be described as terrifying and brutal, her war strategies are genius and direct, and her spells are horrific. She was a terrifying Queen, one who was born, lived, and died during a war. She fought in the war with a wand that was an eternal flame sword. She was so powerful she created her own army of peasants amplified to the point of being practically immortal.

Festivia is, obviously, the fun one. She is oblivious of her work and the war outside of her walls. She focuses on making the people of Mewni forget their woes and tribulations, and instead tries to bring joy into the kingdom. Her spells are all centered around this, and are somewhat associated with cooking. She lived a sheltered life away from all the bloodshed, and had no worries, not even to her own (supposed) arranged marriage.

TL;DR : Solaria was aware of the issues and Festivia is oblivious.

Next is Celena the Shy and Crescenta the Eager.

First, the titles themselves even describe them as opposites. Celena was so shy she made very few public appearances, and her wand even described that shyness by taking the form of a fan. She had a pension for creative writing and potion making despite that shyness. While she didn’t write down literally any spells, she put in potion making and her songs. She was even seen as completely gorgeous, being able to entrance a monster with a glance, which is interesting since she’s half-demon.

Crescenta is everywhere. She is all about control and being the best Queen ever. She didn’t make many remarks about caring about her sister or even her people. She created multiple laws and spells that maintained her control (and that were utterly terrifying tbh). She had a strong hatred for monsters, creating a government for them that the Mewmans had utter control over.

TL;DR : Celena is unconcerned with her duties and Crescenta is obsessed with them.

Finally it is the inner ring, which I will summarize much more simply since we know the most about these characters.

Moon the Undaunted and Star the Underestimated.

Moon is very disciplined in her work and is pretty racist towards monsters due to her mother’s death. She is also against using Dark Magic because of her experience. She wasn’t given a chance to grow up and make mistakes that didn’t cause the destruction of her own kingdom, so she is repressed in her ideas.

Star is loose in her jobs as a princess and is accepting of monsters and is trying to fix the relations between Mewmans and monsters. She is accepting of using Dark Magic with reason. While her mom tries to contain her wild nature, Star will always fight to be free and live to be so, making her own mistakes and learning from them.

TL;DR : Moon is rejecting change and Star is making change.

Eclipsa, Queen of Darkness and Meteora (who I deem as “the Reborn”).

Eclipsa is very free and loving towards herself. She lets herself run wild and free, not answering to anyone. She took the death of her mother hard, having been very close to her, and thought of her fondly in her death. Though she was forced to marry someone she disliked, she was adulterous with a monster she loved thoroughly. She left her world behind for the man she loved, despite having everything that she could have ever wanted.

Meteora is restricted from her upbringing, learning to not only hate everyone around her by also hate herself. Up until she was literally reborn, she was restricting of her past and self. She had a strong hatred for her “mother” St. Olga, who raised her to hate her monster half and become a princess slave. She only left her world behind when she had nothing else left.

TL;DR : Eclipsa is free and Meteora is restrained.
