Everyone so far seems to be theorizing Amane’s victim as her dad, her mom, or an unnamed child also in the cult. I’ve got my own theory - it was Gozake.
Tumblr media
That’s Gozake, from Magic. The blue guy. He’s one of the four main figureheads of the cult, and possibly a music teacher of some kind to Amane, conducting her to sing in Magic. The very first shot of The Purge March is Amane playing the drums.
The mindscape Amane’s wield flags representing the four cult leaders (teachers? elders? propaganda peddlers? high up members? whatever, important cult people), but Gozake’s flag in particular is given special attention.
Tumblr media
Same color scheme, same three dots over a narrow rectangle like design, same ear thingy to the side, same orb-like design features - that’s Gozake. Before we see it flying though, we see it crumpled up on the floor by Amane’s feet, something not true for any other flag.
Tumblr media
We then see an Amane messing up her flag routine, dropping Gozake’s flag in particular and falling over. The other Amane looms over her, preparing to punish her for a failure related to Gozake. Once the punishment starts, rain pours down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, the punished Amane begins to drown. You can even see the flag while she’s sinking.
Tumblr media
She drowns further, and we get another shot of just the flag, lying on the ground, and then the drowning Amane reaching up towards it. She’s reaching toward Gozake, the one responsible for drowning her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he is the one drowning her. We see it directly in Magic.
Tumblr media
It cuts to the real world, with Amane actually being drowned, and her placed below the one drowning her like she is placed below the flag.
Tumblr media
Take note of the framing, with one hand stretching from out of frame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t find a better picture for her undercover card, but her location shows a bathroom. Undercover also has a shot of a victim lying on a blue tiled floor (we can’t see the floor, but the shower in Purge March has blue and green wall tiles) with water coming down. Blue and water are representations of Gozake (Amane’s character color is aqua), and it’s framed as a single hand stretching out while the rest is (mostly) obscured, and takes place in the bathroom (or at least a bathroom) that Amane was drowned by Gozake in.
Throughout the MV, there’s a lot of blue, too. Amane’s school uniform is blue, the cloth she heals the cat with is blue (the cloth later becomes bloody, another thing representing Gozake being damaged), the sky and general background and lighting is blue. Symbols of Gozake are present everywhere in the MV.
The suit man with the briefcase could be Gozake, I’m not sure. Gozake would fit the profile - a cult member, adult male, disapproving of medicine, willing to put Amane in harm’s way - but I don’t have further evidence.
Tumblr media
Before Amane goes all in on the cult’s doctrine, she has an umbrella, but it’s unopened. The baton she uses to kill and to represent her as fully converted and the opening umbrella are overlayed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The lyrics show her motivation for the murder, as both a means of protection and revenge. She’s been horrifically abused for years, and has taken on the role of the punisher to avoid being the punished.
“It’s my turn to tear you apart / So there is no second time, I’ll give back the judgment that you gave to me /  It’s now your turn to say that hopeless “I’m sorry” /  You’re sorry? I don’t care! / Please, go ahead and die already / Remember MY cries, MY repents, MY words of “I’m sorry” that I said to you?”
Beyond showing a lot of resentment and disdain for the one she’s speaking to - her victim - the phrasing clearly shows that she’s not just punishing a sinner, she’s turning the tables. She’s returning the favor to someone who’s been violent to her in the past.
Tumblr media
The umbrella is symbolically her murder weapon and what she uses to punish others, but also literally and obviously a tool to protect from the rain. What she uses to kill is what protects her from Gozake. She can’t take the abuse anymore and tries to become the cult sanctioned violent avenger that’s hurt her so many times. She can’t be the victim if she’s the perpetrator.
Tumblr media
The final shot has her over the corpse, having tracked in water from the rain. The puddles lead right to it and the framing is the same as both the Undercover victim and the one drowning her - a single hand, reaching from out of frame.
Amane killed Gozake.

If you know me outside of Tumblr, don't tell my mom
I said goodbye to my old car last night. Vivid green 2012 Hyundai Accent hatchback. That thing had stellar fuckin gas mileage (for a non-hybrid anyway, I could squeeze like 40mpg out of it if I tried), hauled around way too much shit, played FAFO with black ice, was stolen in Amarillo, TX and recovered south of Oklahoma City, OK - and for context, I live in Indianapolis - back in 2018, and transported many friends and even some coworkers. It also has had kernels of dry field corn in the floorboard for the past two years. Oh, and I broke the frickin passenger side mirror by backing out of the garage too close.
Her name was Arachnaverde because she was green and I kept an anatomically incorrect spider skeleton (halloween decoration) on the dashboard. Spood's job was to let me know when I was taking a turn too fast. He would skitter away if I did.
Prior to Arachnaverde, I had a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that I called Madame Blueberry. She was a lovely teal color, had two doors, and I once forgot an entire watermelon in the back floorboard in college and it rotted and stank so badly. -4/10 do not recommend. Also her trunk had loose soybeans from when I took a few dried soybean plants for some reason or another. ADHD be like that sometimes.
Prior to Madame Blueberry, I had an unnamed charcoal gray 89 Mercury Grand Marquis. This car had one interesting anecdote, and 3 notable events.
In the long long ago when I was still in junior college (2 year college for people who live in states that don't fuck with junior colleges), I left it overnight in the college parking lot for some reason I no longer recall. When I retrieved it in the morning, someone had used car window paint to write "HOOPTY" on the back windshield. To be fair, it was.
That car was how I learned not to leave a can of silly string in a hot car. Did you know if a can of silly string gets hot enough it will straight up explode? I didn't until I found a really messy plastic bag and blue spatters all over the roof of my car.
I used to park under a specific tree in front of the house, because I lived with my parents on a farm, and the garage was for my mom's vehicle, no one else's. Dad's main ride parked in the patch of ground between the barnyard fence and the garage (dad's parking spot, mostly), and the farm truck parked in the barnyard. Anyway, point is, I parked under a tree which worked quite well for many years except at the very end a large fragment of dead tree pierced my car *right* in front of the hood so I had a rough rectangle of Missing Car for the tail end of my ownership.
Anyway, I've known for months that I needed to get a new car. Needed new front struts, a replacement sensor in the steering column, new back brakes, new front tires.... I tried back in May but for some reason the car I found just didn't vibe with me (Mitsubishi Mirage). It was kinda noisy, very basic. Also very cheap.
Last week, the stars aligned and I found a hopeful prospect with low mileage, decent mpg, and within my budget.
So now I have a new-to-me brick of tofu (white Kia Soul 2020).
I have said my farewells to the green beast, and look forward to what kind of adventures I'll get into with the as-of-yet-unnamed toaster.
So far the best name I've come up with is Tofungus because I am awful. I definitely want to give it a black horizontal stripe and add the "Fujiwara Tofu Shop" decal to the side because i'm a fuckin weeb and also did you know there's a sequel to Initial D this season? I'm enjoying it.

How You Met Baby Firefly

Author’s Note: Here’s yet another part of my “How You Met The Slashers” series. I hope you enjoy!
Warnings/notes: Gender Neutral Reader, cursing
Tumblr media
You walked into the tiny gas station. It was late at night and you were extremely lost.
"Welcome to Captain Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madmen. How may I help you, darlin'?" a man asked, emerging from a back room.
He wore clown facepaint and an old white t shirt. He leaned on the counter and stared at you.
"I was wondering if you knew how to get to get to Ruggsville? I think I accidentally got turned around a few times and now I'm lost," I said.
"Well you're about 80 miles from Ruggsville. That's a long drive to be making in the middle of the night," he said.
"Yes, well-" I was cut of by a voice coming from behind me.
"Daddy, do you have any chicken cooked?"
I turned around and there stood a woman with a mop of curly blonde hair. She wore a white crop top and low rise jeans that were littered with holes and patches.
"Hey, cutie," she said greeting me.
"Hi," I said.
She turned back to the man in the clown makeup who apparently was her father.
"Why the fuck do you wanna know? You got food at your momma's house," he said.
He sounded rather annoyed.
"Mom's not cooking tonight," she said.
"Go in the back and get what you need," he grunted.
She thanked him and made her way to the door behind the counter. I cleared my throat a little bringing his attention back to me.
"Sorry about that. Ruggsville, you said?" he asked. I nodded and he took out a piece of paper. He drew a rectangle and a few lines leading from it to the word 'Ruggsville'.
"You're here," he said, pointing at the rectangle, "You take this road. Keep going straight until you see this exit. Take it, then go right, then take the second left," he explained.
"Thank you so much. I love your store by the way. All of this stuff is pretty neat," I said, gesturing to all of the oddities that surrounded us.
"Thank you," he said.
The girl from before exited the back room with a bucket of fried chicken in her arm.
"Thank you, dad," she said. He simply rolled his eyes.
I turned to leave the gas station and behind me followed the energetic blonde.
"Is that your car?" she asked, walking behind me.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" My voice trailed off as I looked up at my car. I stopped on my tracks and my mouth dropped.
She stopped beside me.
"That's fucked up," she said.
The tires of my car, all four, had been slashed. The car snuck down in the asphalt as the air had been let out of the tires.
"Shit," I said, "Who the hell would do that?"
I felt hopeless. Not only was I lost but I was also stranded.
"Hey, my brother has a tow truck. We can ride to my house and get him to come get your car. I'm not sure if we have spare tires but he can get some tomorrow when the store opens," the woman said.
"You'd do that for me?" I questioned.
"Yeah, you seem fun. My name is Baby," she said as she held out her hand.
"(Y/N)," I said.

Flufftober Day 23 - Trinket
The golden, round stone in Rika’s hand caught the light as he turned it, the two rectangles carved on the surface flickering. Beside him on the bench sat a pack of cards, and a simple but well crafted astrolabe.
“Rika?” Davien paced up to join him, touching his shoulder. “I’ve been calling you for two minutes. Are you all right?”
The Miqo’te jumped a little, looking up and blinking. “Oh… yeah. Just thinking.” He rolled the stone over his fingers. “About Dad.”
Davien sat down beside him. “Your foster dad?”
He nodded, looking down at the stone again. “He was from Sharlyan. An astrologian. Mom had been a dragoon before she left the order to marry Dad and have a family. That’s why they were in Tailfeather  - she really couldn’t go back to Ishgard, and in Sharlyan she would be treated badly because she wasn’t a scholar. So they left to make their own life.” He smiled faintly. “I’m lucky they did. It was Mom who found me by the river after my clan was murdered.”
“That was his stone?” Davien asked quietly.
“Hmm. When they died, I thought it best that Wadjet and ‘Seti get their stones and equipment. Neferseti took to Mom’s stone immediately, of course. But Wadjet never could get Dad’s to answer her. It wouldn’t answer to ‘Seti, either, so we put them away. Wadjet found them again.” He smiled faintly. “She said I should try. Even though I wasn’t theirs by blood, they never treated me as any less than their own son. Dad… I used to watch him use these, and he taught me the meaning of the cards. I mean…” Rika laughed a little. “I need another job like I need another foot, but… I think Dad would want them to be used.”
“I think so too.” Davien put a hand on his arm and squeezed gently. “It would bring honor to his memory… and I can’t imagine he would be anything but proud of you for carrying on his legacy.”
Rika glanced at him, then smiled. “Thanks. At least there’s supposed to be someone in Foundation who practices proper Sharlyan astrology, rather than the bastardized version they use in Ishgard.” He pushed himself to his feet and held the stone to his heart, touching it gently with his aether. It glowed faintly, then burst into light strong enough to shine through his fingers. The knowledge of how to use the astrolabe and how to channel the aether into it flowed into his mind, but also along with it memories. A clear image of his foster father, slightly messy hair falling into blue eyes, looking down into a wide eyed kit watching the sparkle of the magic and the cards swirling around it.
:Use it well, Horika-Re,: the memory whispered; Rika smiled even as tears slid down his cheeks.
“I will Dad. Thank you.”

I smoked DMT in May of this year and this is my experience and how it changed my life
Important context for this is I’ve been suicidal most of my life. The prior months leading up to this experience, I had been severely suicidal, every day. I had a note ready and was certain I wasn’t making it to 30.
I didn’t breakthrough all the way and I didn’t really have to. I got very close.
At first I was just ..“dancing with the universe” is the only way I can explain it. The most magnificent patterns I’ve ever seen, colors I can’t explain. I cried of joy. I could still see my apartment. My vision was like a shutter. For ex. One moment an object would be a rectangle, then it would switch (not morph), totally switch in a shutter type fashion into a circle. And then some more shapes I’ve never seen and can’t explain.
Then I took my last hit, held it in. My reality got very weird and a bit scary. I saw someone or thing watching me from my bathroom door and my jacket hanging up began to melt.
Then right when I said “I think I want this to stop”, I was shot through a tunnel of spinning mandalas made of eyes. Quite literally that popular piece by Alex Grey. But not looking at it, in it. Fully in it. Reality was no more. When I was in that tunnel, I didn’t know nor think about my human existence. None of it existed for that time. But I was quickly shot back into reality.
I saw my apartment again, but it was crazy. My walls and objects were morphing from shape to shape, color to color extremely fast. I looked at my cat and she was morphing and changing color too. Neon pink, neon green and checker pattern stuck out to me the most for some reason.
Then reality crumbled right before my eyes. Literally. Everything turned black/white/grey and crumbled like a building being demolished. And I was back in a world I can’t explain.. it was dark. Again, my human existence didn’t exist, i was just energy experiencing.. something.
Finally I came back to reality, saw my friend and grasped him for dear life so I didn’t get taken back to that world. I was so scared I wouldn’t come back from it, and that I was going to be sent back for eternity. I thought I was either going to die or go insane. Everything was morphing as it was before. All that was going through my head was that I’m going to lose the girl I really like, I’m gonna lose my job, my cats won’t have a mom anymore, I’m never gonna see my family and friends again. I held onto my friend for dear life until it finally fully ended.
All I could mutter was “what the fuck”. No amount of psychedelics could have prepared me for DMT. It’s a whole other animal.
Interestingly, when I came out of it and realized I was okay and it did in fact end, I wasn’t scared of it. I thought I’d be traumatized from an experience like that and never want to touch it again. It was easily the scariest experience of my entire life. Yet, directly after, I felt grateful and intrigued.
It took me about an hour or 2 to just somewhat process what had just happened. But I quickly came to the realization that I am not ready to die. That I have potential, that my loved ones need me and that is why I was scared. Not only did I gain this knowledge, I also came back with a knowing that this is the case for every human soul on this planet. I didn’t get an answer as to why, but I now know we all have a reason for being here. Every one of us. No matter how hopeless it seems. Everyone is meant to be here and experience this life.
The second realization I came to rather quickly was that running from fear of the unknown will only make things worse. Every time. That I must SURRENDER to life and know that it is out of my control (besides my actions). This, I believe as an intuitive knowing from the experience, was a lesson that was taught so that I can integrate it into my life, and until I do, I am not to return to the DMT world. And I have taken this lesson very seriously and have been taking action to push past my fears that I would normally let dictate my life. I have a lot of work to do still, because it is a huge barrier I’ve got to tackle. And I’ll be honest I’ve been slacking.
I tried to return last week and was not granted access no matter how much of it I smoked. I got the visuals, but was stuck in the waiting room with an intuitive feeling that it’s not time yet and I still have work to do.
So yeah, DMT zapped away my suicidal ideation, made me realize how my life does have potential and sent me on a mission to conquer my fears and live the life I WANT. And I’m grateful as hell.
With psychedelics, you really have to be able to take what you can get from the experience, good or bad. But if DMT ever crosses your path and you feel ready to accept what it has to offer, I highly recommend you do. (Don’t seek it. It will come to you.)

Antedate | Bucky Barnes
Tumblr media
Part 1/13 | Part Two
Summary: Sometimes making the right decision feels like the wrong one. That decision can stick with you for years and leave you wondering what would happen if you had chosen something else. But the alternatives likely lead to a much darker path; you'll never know for sure though. One thing is for certain, the decisions I have made will have lasting consequences.
Prequel to Rectify
Series Warnings: Discussion of human trafficking, physical and mental abuse, mention and description of death
a/n: Hi everyone, thank you for checking this out, I appreciate any and all support! This series is also posted on Ao3 and Wattpad if you prefer those formats/platforms! This is a completed series, and it's going to take some time for me to transfer it to Tumblr, so please bear with me!
"I trust you all will make her into Hydra's most effective scientist."
Snow falls in fluffy flakes and sticks to the ground in a thick white blanket. My toes have gone numb from the cold, but I can't bring myself to care. People walk back inside as I stare at the rectangle of freshly disturbed soil. Warm teardrops trail down my face and fall from the tip of my red nose.
Someone stands beside me, tucking their hands into their pockets. I bite my lip to keep from saying anything out of line and swallow the lump in my throat. The man beside me sighs,
"Happens to us all at some point." The man pats my shoulder a few times as he leaves. The snow crunches under his footsteps as he retreats back into the building. I stand alone in the freezing temperatures. I don't want to go back in there.
I kneel on the ground and place my fingertips on the cold dirt. A few more tears fall as I try to find the words I want to say. I sniffle and look to the sky, the grey clouds are causing a gloomy overcast. I clear my throat,
"Thank you for everything you've done, you were too good for this place. I'll always love you, mom. Rest easy." I whisper and stand up. I wipe my eyes of tears and take a few deep breaths. I know better than to walk in there crying.
I gain my composure and walk back into the building. One of the guards opens the door for me and I give him a curt nod. The inside lights are fluorescent, the concrete dull and cold. Home sweet home. I set my jaw tightly and keep my head held high as I walk back to my room.
As usual, the hallway is guarded by agents. I wish they weren't here, I'd like to have just one place where I can get away from everything. But after mom dying, I bet the security measures will only increase. I focus on the end of the hall, not making any sort of contact with the guards as I walk quickly to my door and open it.
As it shuts behind me I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I relax and take my coat off, hanging it on the hook next to the door. I rub my hands together quickly to try and create some heat, my fingertips had turned blue from being out in the cold for so long. I turn to sit on my bed so I can undo my boots, but jump as I see my father sitting on the edge. What is he doing here?
I fix my posture and squints his eyes at me. I feel tension in the air and prepare myself to be reprimanded for something. I wonder what he'll choose to belittle me over today. My father's eyes scrutinize me, looking up and down. Suddenly, he stands from the bed and walks right in front of me. I tilt my head back to make eye contact with him.
"You were quite an embarrassment out there, Adalyn. I expected you to hold yourself together. Remember what I said about being dignified. You're thirteen years old now, act like it. You're no longer a child. Remember, your training begins tomorrow and I expect you will not disappoint." He says and walks out of the room without another word. I stand still until I hear the door shut.
I unlace my boots and place them in their proper spot by the door. I look around my room and feel like something is missing, something is gone. I stare at the rundown, empty armchair by a small bookcase that mom used to read to me in. Something is gone alright.
I walk over and sit in the chair. The old fabric is torn in some places and the cushion sinks down in the middle, but it's the most comforting chair I've ever been in. I lean my head against the back cushion and run my hand over the material. It reminds me of her.
My mind drifts off and I remember all the times she would read to me in this chair. When I was really little, she would hold me in her lap as she read me old stories. My favorite was always about the boy who was kidnapped by a wicked witch, but was saved by the brave and kind girl. She always finished that story by telling me that evil people will never prevail, and that we have a choice and duty to choose kindness and mercy. I never could understand how she ended up with my father. I don't know if I ever will.
I choose to sleep in the chair for the night, and spend my last conscious thoughts reminiscing the sweet memories I have of her. Now that she's gone, there is no light in this place. There is no humanity. I know that since she's no longer here, there will be a power struggle. After all, someone has to take her spot and assume her duties. She was the second most powerful person in Hydra, and that position won't go unfilled for long.
The morning comes too soon. The overhead alarm wakes me up from my uncomfortable sleep and I rub the soreness in my neck. I take a few moments to wake up and prepare my mind for the day. My father is making me start my specialty training today, he says I'm ready for it but I have my doubts. I only just took the placement test a few weeks ago and I've never seen them place the other children this quickly.
I put on the clothes my father had picked out for me to wear. He said this first impression is vital, and that I must look properly put together. The last thing I want to do today is bring dishonor to my father. I take the time to make sure my hair is placed perfectly and out of my face. I put my shoes on and look over myself one more time to make sure everything is how it's supposed to be.
I take a deep breath and fix my posture before I open the door. I keep my head held high as I walk down the cold hallway and to the science lab. My shoes echo through the hall and I stop in the doorway of the lab once I get there. It would be out of place for me to just walk in.
I see my father already talking to one of the scientists and his eyes light up as he sees me. He smiles and alerts everyone,
"Everyone, this is my daughter, Adalyn. I assure you that she is brilliant and you will have no trouble out of her. I trust you all will make her into Hydra's most effective scientist." He says, threatening the people with an overly cheerful tone. What he actually told them was to make sure I surpass their abilities or they'll lose their job, perhaps even their life. I watch as the scientists all nod their heads with wide smiles. They're all terrified.
"Of course, Mr. Averina." The lead scientist steps forward and gives my father a courteous head bow. My father pats my shoulder and heads out of the room, leaving me with everyone. I've seen them all before, but I don't actually know any of them. I know they all know me, it's hard to find a person who doesn't know me in this place.
"Miss Averina, let us start by showing you around." The man says and motions for me to follow him. Sticking to my father's orders, I nod my head and follow the man wordlessly and without emotion. I am to remain as professional and formal as possible at all times.
The man shows me around the vast laboratory, pointing out different machines and what they do. It's all very fascinating to me. I watch as some scientists continue their work, putting fluids into clear glass beakers and looking at specimens under the microscope. I wonder what they're working on?
The man stops in front of a door that has the words "No Entry" plastered in bright red font across it. He points at the door and makes eye contact with me,
"Do not enter this room under any circumstances." His tone is not the cheerful one he had kept throughout the tour. I nod my head, curious about what's in there. The man clears his throat and shows me to an empty table.
"This is where you will be conducting your work. You'll be training with us for a while before we let you go on your own." He says.
"What exactly am I training for?" I ask. Nobody has told me what I'm going to be specializing in, just that I had been placed within the science division. The lead scientist scratches the back of his head and I notice some others pause their work to listen in.
"You will be focusing on our neuroscience studies." I nod my head. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but, I guess I can't complain. I could've been placed in the soldier division.
Day after day I report for my duties, learning a little more each day. The days blur together, it feels like I'm trapped in a time loop. The scientist I'm training under, Leopold, is friendly enough, but there's something unsettling about him. Something sinister.
Today he's teaching me more about the structures of the brain. He says that in order for me to be effective in this field, I have to understand this stuff like the back of my hand. And so I will. I pay close attention and take detailed notes as he points at different images on the page. I find it quite easy to remember this information, perhaps because it's fascinating to me.
Every day after we're done in the laboratory I go back to my room and study. My father made it quite clear to me that I am to excel in this field. He mentioned something about a special project that he wants me to take control of once I'm ready. Maybe that's why Leopold is strange, he knows my father plans on replacing him with me in a few years.
"And the hippocampus, this one right here, stores the memories." Leopold says and points to a small image on the page. I nod and quickly scribble down what he says. I look up to him once I'm done writing and he shuts the book. He takes a seat on the edge of the table and cracks his knuckles. I scrunch my eyebrows together, what is he doing?
"Tomorrow you will be tested on this. If you pass you move on to the next lesson. If you fail we have to start over. You are free to go study, we're done for the day." I nod and close the book I take notes in. As I leave the laboratory I take quick glances to see what the others are doing.
I notice on one of the tables that there is a brain floating in a glass. It startles me, seeing a brain just casually on display. I don't even want to begin pondering where they got it. I leave the lab and head to my father's office to tell him Leopold let me go early today. The last thing I need is my father reprimanding me for not telling him.
I knock on my father's office door and he opens it. He looks down at me and steps away so I can enter. He takes his seat behind the desk and I stand in front of it.
"Leopold released me early today, he says I should study for the test tomorrow. I will pass it." I tell my father and he nods.
"I expect nothing less from you. The quicker you master the information the quicker we can be rid of Leopold. He's done nothing for us. He's only here because his father was a genius. But I think it's time the Zola bloodline ends." I nod shortly. It makes my skin crawl to think that I will be responsible for Leopold's demise. My father dismisses me and I go back to my room, where I study for the rest of the night.

I JUST HAD THE WEIRDEST FUCKING DREAM OF MY LIFE
I was watching a video with someone in it explaining how they hate the new zooble design (it looked like my new oc Alcatraz but with light green skin). I was like "smh it looks so bad", put my phone down, and left to MEET UP WITH KINGER (my beloved), POMNI, AND ZOOBLE. ZOOBLE LOOKED NORMAL. Kinger wanted to know where Zooble got her sick drip from and she said "Every mile is one shoe." SO WE ALL STARTED WALKING. KINGER DOESNT HAVE FEET. Then, Kinger found transgender. He walked up to a badge painted on the sidewalk and everyone said "Kinger found transgender.". GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. And then everyone turned into my mom and brother. We found two purple cars and I just said "gay" and NO ONE QUESTIONED IT. and then we found THE BUG. I didn't see it, so my brother pulled me back. IT WAS A MASSIVE 3 FOOT TALL GIANT SEA SPIDER WITH A PLASTIC LOOKING GREEN RECTANGLE BODY AND SHINY EYES. IT'S EYES SHINED IN THE SUN. Also, Zooble ran past in the background. THE BUG lunged at us and then I woke up.
Dat shit was wild!!!!!!!!!

Part of the Some Kind of Summer series. Pairing: Kurtbastian Rating: T Word Count: 1000
Notes: Posted for @kurtbastianarchive's “The First Time” Anniversary Event day five: Music. This was inspired by the lyrics/vibe of Carly Rae Jepsen's Want You In My Room.
The air in Sebastian’s room felt stale and still as he stared up at the ceiling, his eyes finding random patterns and shapes among the stucco. He’d turned out the lights, because it was late, but he didn’t feel tired. A restlessness simmered under his skin.
He propped himself up on his bed, and noticed a thin rectangle of light shining through the slit of his curtains and falling on the far wall. Getting up, he walked to the window and pushed the curtains aside.
The light in Kurt’s room was on.
He grabbed his phone from the nightstand and typed out a message. can I come over?
After a moment, a reply: What? It’s late. My dad’s sleeping.
is he a heavy sleeper? Sebastian asked.
I don’t know, came Kurt’s answer. I guess?
perfect, Sebastian sent. then he won’t hear me come in.
It took a minute, but finally his phone buzzed with a response from Kurt: Ugh, fine. Come in through the kitchen and be quiet.
Sebastian grinned.
.
The latch on the Hummel’s gate was familiar to him now, and opening it up was easy even in the dark. Over the past few weeks he’d ended up hanging out with Kurt most days. Sometimes they used the pool to escape the heat, or hung out in Kurt’s house to savor the air-conditioning. Sebastian would sit in the passenger seat of Kurt’s car to go to coffee shops, drive around aimlessly, or just tag along for errands. He’d tried to goad Kurt into going to a bar, but hadn’t made any progress on persuading him. Sebastian wasn’t completely sure he could pull it off anyway - the drinking age in the US was higher, and people seemed a lot less forgiving about it than they were in France. He was willing to try, though.
Kurt had some spending money from working in his dad’s garage, but Sebastian had taken to bankrolling most of their outings - “You owe me for gas, anyway,” Kurt had said wryly the first time Sebastian paid for both their coffees. Even if his mom and stepdad had abandoned him for the summer, at least they were still depositing his allowance into his bank account.
He crept through the Hummels’ yard and up to the back porch, opening the door slowly. When he stepped inside, the light above the stove was on, a dim yellow glow diffusing through the room. He could make out Kurt’s silhouette, leaning against the counter with his arms crossed.
Sebastian closed the door behind him, and Kurt just held a finger up to his lips in greeting, then turned to walk out of the room. Sebastian followed him out of the kitchen, up the stairs, and into his bedroom. Suddenly they were bathed in light, and Sebastian blinked against the same brightness that had shone into his own bedroom just minutes before, calling to him like a lighthouse.
Kurt shut the door and exhaled. “What’s this about?”
Sebastian shrugged. “I was just bored.”
Kurt rolled his eyes. “Well, you’re here now. I was watching Kitchen Nightmares compilations.”
“Of course you were,” Sebastian said, bemused. “Show me, I guess.”
So they settled on Kurt’s impeccably-made bed, leaning back against the pillows and watching videos on his laptop.
Sebastian couldn’t have imagined at the start of summer that he’d end up in these circumstances, but ever since he’d started hanging out with Kurt, life was full of surprises. He was so used to relationships being about power - to using his words and actions to gain control of a situation, to manipulate someone’s feelings or get what he wanted from them. But Kurt didn’t seem to respond to that. He was controlling in his own ways, but also often completely immune to Sebastian’s words. Whenever Sebastian discovered some new oddity about Kurt - a teenage boy just shouldn’t be spending so much time on vintage couture auctions, it was unnatural - his kneejerk reaction was to ridicule it. But Kurt would just roll his eyes, the insults bouncing right off of him, and continue being his weird self. It was a little bit admirable, if sometimes annoying.
Sebastian enjoyed the dumb videos Kurt showed him more than he expected, and they had to stifle laughter to avoid the possibility of waking up Mr. Hummel. They somehow turned to talking about music. During the school year, Kurt was part of a show choir that seemed equally dorky and insane. “Maybe I’ll join my new school’s choir,” Sebastian teased him, “just so that I can help them beat you.”
“Bring it on, Smythe,” Kurt replied gamely. “I could outsing you in my sleep.”
They ended up lying on the floor, heads close to Kurt’s stereo, so that they could listen to music together while keeping the volume low. It was deep into the night, long past the time all reasonable people had gone to sleep, and the soft music and warm light of Kurt’s room made it feel like they were in their own world, completely apart from any other living being. It was late enough that they’d gone a little punchy with fatigue, Kurt putting on goofy voices to sing along with the music, both of them devolving into laughter over the stupidest things. Sebastian managed to catch his breath after one such outburst, and when he turned his head back to look at Kurt, he realized just how close their faces were. The carpet brushed against Sebastian’s cheek as he met Kurt’s eyes, and the moment stretched out between them like a held breath, a water droplet just about to fall.
Sebastian rolled onto his side, bringing his whole body closer to Kurt, and lifted his hand to hover just over Kurt’s jaw. Kurt watched his movement, not pulling back or leaning in.
Sebastian hesitated for just moment before committing - he was here now, might as well go through with it. He let his hand cup the side of Kurt’s face, feeling the warmth of his skin, and leaned in to kiss him.
When their lips met, Kurt responded immediately, giving in to the sensation and pressing in closer to Sebastian. Seb couldn’t help but grin into the kiss, feeling a rush of satisfaction at Kurt’s enthusiasm.
“Shut up,” Kurt whispered, as though he could read Sebastian’s thoughts.
“I didn’t say anything,” Sebastian replied, their noses still touching.
“Keep it that way,” Kurt insisted, and then leaned in for more.

Here are those drawings I’ve been working on: humanizations of SS Andrea Doria and MV Astoria (formerly MS Stockholm)!
This time, I already had all their design notes in one place, so they were easier to wrangle. Here they are!
Design Notes - Andrea Doria:
The bodice of her dress is based on her hull, which had a white stripe around it. Similarly, her skirt represents her funnel livery, and the neckline of the dress is cut to resemble her bow. The pearl necklace is also meant to resemble her white hull stripe, but it’s not as on-the-nose about it.
I based her facial features on Italian actress Matilda De Angelis. The resemblance isn’t as close as originally intended, but that’s okay, because she turned out beautiful anyway.
She’s holding a glass of red wine while wearing easily-stainable clothes; this is supposed to be a nod to one of her most significant character traits: her poor decision-making skills.
The look on her face was originally supposed to be a friendly half-smile, but it came out looking more like she’s smiling but she’s also just realizing she made a mistake, like leaving the oven on or something. That expression fits her better, so I left it like that.
If you look closely, she has freckles on her shoulders and neck.
Considering that she’s red/green colorblind, she probably can’t see the red and green on her dress very well. I wonder what they look like to her?
Design Notes - Astoria:
I designed her outfit after looking at dozens of pictures of fashion influencers on vacation. Originally I could only imagine her wearing a silver velveteen tracksuit, like a rich soccer mom or something, but that didn’t really fit her vibe or her history.
Her face is meant to look like she’s had a lot of plastic surgery; this is most evident in her full lips and narrow nose.
I originally planned for her to have white hair dye over her natural blonde hair, but I ended up just going with the blonde instead.
The print on her shirt is based on the windows on her forward superstructure. Similarly, the yellow rectangles on her pants are inspired by her large stern windows.
She has a whole bunch of lamps on her stern. I based her earrings off said lamps, because I like them a lot.
She’s holding an MS Stockholm postcard. You can’t see the actual picture, but it’s this - I explicitly intended for it to be the same postcard I have as the crown jewel of my collection in real life.
Her tattoo is meant to resemble dark clouds of fog; this is symbolic of the fact that no matter how hard she tries, she’ll never truly escape her past.

some remembered things quasi related
for a long time (i don't know when i developed the ability) i was completely unable to voluntarily move my eyes separately from my head. i was able to track an object as i moved my head or as it moved but i couldn't look "generically left" or change to tracking an object to my left without moving my head first. to this day i think i'm still deficient at this, it requires a lot more conscious focus and feels way more unnatural to move my eyes intentionally than to just move my entire head. until i gained this ability, i assumed that people talking about the ability to move your eyes separately from your head were talking about some secret technique and i just nodded along because nobody believed i couldn't do it. i assumed it was in the same category of action as "paying attention" which was a thing they kept telling me to do and treating me like an idiot for not knowing how to do, which seemed to be related to but separate from actions i knew how to do like "listening" and "knowing the answer" (to be clear, to use present understanding, i WAS paying attention, they were mad at me for not performing attentiveness)
when i was four years old i went to a pre-k with an intimidating teacher. i don't know what it was about her exactly, possibly that her face was wrinkled in such a way that normal frowns looked like anatomically impossible ultra frowns, but this is mostly guesswork from a fuzzy visual memory and seems like the sort of thing that, if true, i would be a bad person to hold against her in retrospect. but there was still the fact that i was a tiny creature and she was not, and my memories of her are mostly after i had done something unspecific wrong and she was now bearing down on me and i couldn't look at her, i couldn't, she was terrifying and she would say look at my face and i couldn't. and one time my mom was like, ms whatever said you don't look at her why don't you look at her and the thing that came out of my mouth was that her face was an oval and my field of vision was a rectangle, (no four year olds do not know the phrase 'field of vision,' please let me paraphrase memories from nearly 22 years ago) and what my mom told me to do about that was to make an oval with my thumbs and index fingers and look through the middle and frame her face with it. she did not tell the teacher that i was going to do this so the next time the teacher just got even more upset because i was putting my hands in front of my face and i was just fucking sitting there crying and she was getting closer and i couldn't adjust my hands fast enough as she was moving to precisely frame her face.
there are two specific times i can remember what this teacher was mad at me for. one was a time i tripped and fell on a toy and broke it and she was mad at me for breaking the toy. the other was there was a time we were supposed to be i think "rehearsing" something but really we just sat in a big room doing nothing. it was soo fucking boring and i was next to some kind of light switch or something and was like what the heck i will turn the lights off this is terrible and discovered the light switch didn't work. so then i just fiddled with the light switch for what felt like hours because there was literally nothing else to do and it somehow made my hand bleed and she got mad at me for bleeding on her precious wall. i am sure there are other times where her disapproval was less of an Encapsulation of Problems but they did not stick in my head because i am a selfish manipulator trying to look good
i'm also guilty of being a facescrying neuronormie because there is a thing my mom does when she's revolted that i am not a carbon copy of her. she makes her eyes wide and breathes heavily and makes an expression i would call "terrified" if it made any sense in context. i don't know if this is something she does intentionally as a manipulation tactic or subconsciously because "someone who doesn't share my dumbass boomer boredom-worshipping values is an immediate threat" or whatever but it is a thing she does when trying to pressure me into being some shite normie and telling her things she could potentially later use against me or insult me over or blab to other people because she treats me like it's my duty to gossip to her. for noticing this pattern of body language when my mother is already having a hostile one-sided discussion with me at the literal level of what words are said i should be tortured and executed

...i said i was going to make it and well, here we are i guess. im so sorry for this.
Carlos Molina’s to Guide to Ghost Hood (title subject to change)
welcome to the 1st edition, maybe i’ll make a 2nd if i get inspired enough but also, this is such a mess already i don’t think the world needs a part 2 dfghg
Link to the power point is in the first reblog. (i’d highly recommend watching it for the full experience dfgh)
Link to ao3 also in the first reblog.
below the cut is the accompanying fic and description of the rules/guide.
The tape recorder lets out a low buzzing sound as Carlos presses a button on the side and stands it up between them on the dining room table. Julie shoots an amused glance at Reggie who’s taken up residence in the chair next to him, the two of them flipping open notebooks and clutching pencils.
“Where did you even find a tape recorder?” She wonders, stretching out a finger to touch the silver rectangle only for her hand to be swatted away by Reggie.
“Found it in a box of moms stuff and dad said we could order some tapes from amazon,” Carlos replies matter of factly, straightening up in his chair once he seems to have found the page he was looking for. “Right. Let's start off easy, shall we?”
He looks at her expectantly and Julie rolls her eyes, waving a hand at the two of them, “Lets.”
“Question one,” Carlos taps his pencil at the top of his page before squinting at her, “Did you conduct any séance related activities before the ghosts showed up?”
Julie blinks at him, wondering if he’s joking but the pair of them just look back at her, heads both slightly tilted and it’s at that moment that she realises how serious they’re going to be about this. It was going to be a long afternoon of questioning apparently.
“No, I didn’t conduct any séance related activities. I just put on their CD and they y’know, fell out of the sky.”
“Interesting, interesting,” Carlos mutters as he looks at Reggie’s notebook as the older boy writes her answer down, underlines something and taps it with his pencil that makes Carlos let out a small hm. “So you don’t know anything about the dark room? Didn’t make any wishes?”
“No,” Julie shakes her head, watches Reggie write something else down and tilt his notebook to Carlos. It’s weird, watching them communicate like that, like they’ve created a shorthand between them and don’t even require her presence to have a conversation. Which is obviously true because they’ve clearly discussed all this beforehand.
“You walked through Luke right? What did that feel like to you?” Reggie’s question catches her off guard and she looks between them, but Carlos is already looking at her, waiting for her answer.
“It was um cold? But also not. I--” she frowns, trying to think back to that first night in the kitchen when she’d turned around and walked through him. Back when she’s barely known any of them and was more annoyed by their presence then comforted. “It was weird. The first few seconds after I walked through him I just felt cold but then it was like a rush of warmth? You know when you get one of those random shivers that runs through your whole body? It feels all weird and tingly but also kinda nice? Like that.”
“Did it feel like you got a feel of Luke?” Carlos asks and Julie shrugs, a slight blush on her cheeks and somehow, despite the fact they can’t see each other, the two of them share a look.
“What’s the next question,” anything to move off the topic of walking through Luke and how it felt.
//
“Oh Julie is gonna be so pissed at you guys,” Alex mutters but makes no move to step in and stop the ‘experiment’ currently going on. He watches as Reggie tries to put a hand on Carlos’ shoulder, fingers phasing through the younger boy's jacket with a frown.
“She won't be pissed if it works,” is all Reggie says, face morphing into one of concentration as he slowly lowers his hand on to Carlos’ shoulder again.
For his part, Carlos bounces slightly on his toes, eyes fixed on the notebook in Alex’s hand in case they need to tell him something. And okay, Alex might not fully agree with the way the two of them are going about this whole thing, but he can’t say he’s not on board with it. Their whole stint as ghosts has been nothing but confusion after confusion that not even Willie has answers for. Does he think Reggie and Carlos are going to uncover some fundamental thing that makes them the way they are? Probably not. Will they maybe get him some kind of answer? God he hopes so.
Especially since there’s been small moments in the last few weeks where Ray and Carlos have been able to hear them even without them playing music or Julie nearby. Which had scared all of them. Thought it was nothing compared to Ray’s reaction when he’d apparently walked into the kitchen to find Julie and Luke hugging, only for him to vanish when they suddenly let go. It was a hell of a way to find out they could be seen if they were touching her.
“Oh!” Carlos suddenly exclaims, head whipping to look at his shoulder where Reggie’s hand is resting solidly on the fabric of the jacket. Alex feels his eyes widen a fraction and watches Reggie’s smile widen as he squeezes slightly on Carlos’ shoulder. “Oh my god! I can feel that!”
“Holy shit,” Alex whispers, grip on the pencil in his fingers growing.
“Hey! I heard that too! Quick! Write it down! 30 minutes and- and however many attempts it took!” Carlos grins, face turning towards him and Alex doesn’t even have time to feel guilty about swearing before he’s scribbling in Reggie’s notebook.
//
“Thanks again for taking me,” Carlos says as he pulls his seat belt across his chest and clicks it in, eyes drifting from his tia in the front seat to the little notebook resting on the back seat and the pencil that’s hovering just a few inches off the paper. Subtly he sees it tap on the page, once, twice, and he bites down on his grin, tucking his hands under his thighs to stop from bouncing in his seat. They’re ready.
“Of course mijo,” Victoria smiles over at him as she turns on the engine, fingers already messing with the buttons on the radio to find her favourite station. “I have to say I’m impressed. Planning ahead for your dad's birthday.”
“Mhm,” he agrees, his eyes on the notebook that he can just see in the rearview mirror. The pencils resting between the creases in the pages and he holds his breath as the radio jumps to a different station.
Victoria frowns slightly, her eyes darting from the road to the radio and back, hand reaching out to change it back. When it jumps to another station. And another. Carlos feels his eyes widen a little, legs bouncing on top of his hands as he watches the radio cycle through station after station, only lingers for a few seconds on each before moving on.
Finally it stops, the words of Despacito ringing through the car and it’s lucky they’re at a red light he thinks, because when Victoria tries to change it it jumps right back.
“What the f-” she starts, the furrow between her brows growing deeper and the knuckles on her hand that’s still gripping the wheel turning white.
“Can we leave it? I like this song,” he looks over at her with a smile, blinking in what he hopes is a completely innocent way. He’s pretty sure she’s too distracted by the radio to question it.
“Sure, sure,” she mutters, not even looking at him, eyes going from the road to the radio.
The song ends and from the corner of his eye he can see the pencil in the back moving, Reggie or Willie writing something down and he has to stop himself from turning around to see what it is. Instead he watches as tia starts changing the radio station again, her fingers never leaving the touch screen as if that was the problem. But the second she lands on her favourite 80’s classics station and is moving her fingers away it changes. Skipping through stations again until Despacito is once again filling the car.
It’s probably lucky that they’re at another red light and that there’s no one behind them because her eyes widen and she’s suddenly saying words in Spanish that he knows he shouldn’t know and is pulling over to the side of the road.
“We have to get out! The car is being possessed! Out, out Carlos! Come on!” Her seat belt is off and her door is open before Carlos even has a chance to process what’s happening. The notebook from the back is pushed in front of his face and he tilts his head a little to side to read Reggie’s familiar handwriting,
Too far?
“Maybe,” he whispers back, taking the notebook out of the ghost's hand as he starts to get out of the car, plucking the pencil out of the metal spirals and making a note about not pushing tia in a moving vehicle and to wait until after they’ve gone shopping first.
She’s got her phone pressed to ear when he joins her on the sidewalk, pacing up and down. Carlos is pretty sure there’s going to be a family dinner story time in their near future.
//
Luke watches as Carlos sets his tape recorder up, idly plucking out a half finished tune on his guitar in order to be seen and heard. He doesn’t really get the other boys interest in figuring out their ghostly state of being. The same way he doesn’t really care about finding answers to all of Alex’s questions.
They ate some bad street dogs. They died. Julie brought them back and then she saved them a second time. They can play music and sometimes be seen. He already has all the answers he needs and it’s two words: Julie Molina.
Would it be nice to know what the black room was? Sure. Did he sometimes wonder why they could be seen but other ghosts couldn't? Sometimes. Did he want answers? Only if someone was going to give them to him without having to do the work. Was he going to sit here and answer all of Carlos’ questions because it was important to him and to the others? Fuck yeah he was.
“Does that think pick up our voices even if we’re not playing and not near Julie?” He nods at the recorder on the table after Carlos hits a button.
“Yeah! It’s so cool too. You sound like, all static-y and I have to listen really hard sometimes because your voices fade in and out but they’re there!”
Okay, Luke can admit that is pretty cool, “That’s wicked. Maybe we should start using that to communicate instead of writing.” He was really sick of people commenting on his handwriting.
“Dude that’s genius! It would be like leaving each other voice notes!” He gestures in the air with his pencil the same way Julie does when she’s realised the issue with a verse and Luke smiles softly. He doesn’t know what voice notes are, but he’s glad he could contribute to the communication issue.
“What questions have you got for me then little dude?” He raises an eyebrow at Carlos as he flips through his notebook.
//
When he’d first knocked Alex down Willie never thought it would lead to him sitting in the Molina’s family living room, a whiteboard resting on his knees as a twelve year old shows him bar graphs and pie charts of information on ghosts.
There was probably some kind of domino-butterfly effect going on that had led him here. But he’s too busy trying to fit all his know ghost knowledge onto a whiteboard so Carlos can fill in the gaps in his knowledge.
Over the years Willie has met a lot of lifers, has interacted with a handful at the HGC but he’s never met a family like the Molina’s. Who found out ghosts were real and instead of running, or trying to profit off of them, had just...welcomed them into the family. Arms wide and hearts open.
And more than that, here was Carlos trying to get answers to questions that none of them really had an answer too.
“Black room, yes or no?” Carlos asks, holding up a flash card and a clothes peg, ready to add it to the line of string stretching across the room. It was already littered with other cards in an order that Willie really didn’t understand but seemed to make perfect sense to the younger boy and Reggie.
Not for me, or anyone I asked at the club, he scribbles down, turning to the board around.
“Just like we thought,” he nods to himself, taking two steps to the left and reaching up to attach the card, “An anomaly.” he whispers it to himself and Willie has to bite his lip to stop from smiling before remembering that Carlos can’t actually see him.
“Hey,” Alex’s voice from the doorway drags his gaze away from the lifer and the smile he’d been trying to stop spreads across his face, “How’s it going?”
“I don’t think we’re even half way through,” he chuckles, gesturing with one hand at the stack of flashcards and the charts he hasn’t even seen yet. “Do you understand this system?”
The exasperated laugh that leaves Alex’s lips is answer enough before he’s even shaking his head, strands of blonde hair dipping into his eyes and Willie wants to reach to move away, “Not a clue. They’ve tried to explain it to us but it makes zero sense to anyone but them.”
“Hey, Alex, stop distracting him, we’re working here!” Carlos’ voice makes him jump, head turning back to where he’s standing with his arms crossed and shaking his head in disappointment in the vague direction of where Alex is standing.
“Wait, can he see you?” Willie frowns, mind trying to remember if he knew this or not.
“No, he’s just really good at sensing us these days,” Alex sighs, but there’s a fond look in his eyes as he looks at Carlos, “He says it’s his ghost powers kicking in from how often he hangs out with Reggie and from all the failed teleportation experiments.”
“The failed what now?”
“Oh, you’ll find out. I think it’s section 7?” Alex grins, pushing off from where he’d been leaning against the doorway and waving.
Willie turns back to Carlos feeling a little more confused than he had minutes ago but also much more intrigued about teleportation experiments. And if he could help get some answers for any of the many questions Alex had, that was cool too.

Carlos Molina’s Guide to Ghosting. So you became a ghost, huh?
 (working title, subject to change)
By Carlos Molina, with special thanks to Reggie Peters and Willie Skateboard.
1st Edition.
Dedicated to Alex Mercer, so he can stop asking so many questions. We’re working on it buddy.
1. Tangibility
They can walk through anything (except my sister now, reasons still unclear).
Works especially well with walls, doors and locked vaults (see exhibit a)
When they walk through people it “allows them to get a feel for the person” – Reggie Peters. “It’s weird” – Alex Mercer. No comment from Luke Patterson as he was too busy staring at Julie.
2. Souls
Objects can be attached to their souls.
Still unclear if it has to be an object that they were close to in life, or if they can attach their souls to any object once a ghost.
Experiments with Reggie Peters are still ongoing. Updates will follow.
3. Being Seen
Can be seen by “lifers*” when they play music with Julie.
This is the first rule which only applies to our ghosts.
They can be heard when they play music without Julie. This is also unclear as to why, working theory is “Our music is just so awesome it transcends deaths!” – Luke Patterson.
Mr Willie Skateboard was quick to point out it’s “weird” and “ghosts aren’t supposed to be seen by lifers.”
4. Touching
Our ghosts can now touch Julie. The biggest change in their afterlife.
Still no explanation for it. Experiments are ongoing (see exhibit b)
Have witnessed Julie hugging the air many times only for Alex or Willie to appear. Same with hand holding. (see exhibit c for dads reaction)
5. Magic
Some ghosts have powers and abilities.
Willie* can control different types of technology. Appears to work best with cars. This we believe correlates with who a ghost dies.
In our expedition to test his skills he skipped through 15 different radio stations of Tia’s car until he found one playing despacito. Test was a success. Tia does think her car is haunted now however.
6. ???
There was a dark room.
All other ghosts interviewed had never heard of it before.
All our ghosts agreed it was weird and creepy.
We are choosing to pretend it didn’t happen.
Working theory: a hole in time that they fell through. Must find a way to test.
7. Teleporting
part 1)
Ghosts can teleport wherever they want in the world.
Only the most powerful can teleport a lifer with them (will keep attempting)
part b)
Our ghosts can pinpoint Julie’s exact location wherever she may be in the world.
Will be helpful if she is ever kidnapped, Julie however wishes they would stop using said power to find her in gym class.
“I already have find my friend activated” – Flynn had to say on the matter.
part c)
Julie can summon the boys to her if she concentrates hard enough. Came in handy when an evil magician tried to kidnap them.
Also possibly how they escaped the dark room, no way to prove or deny this as dad won’t let me eat a bad hotdog to become a ghost.
Working theory: magic of music and family

❝What the fuck.❞
Y/n tucked her hair behind her ears and flung her hood above her head. As she walked along the sidewalk, her hands were dug deep into her jacket pockets. Her boots thumped on the broken concrete. She kept her head down as she strolled to the Academy. The sun was setting, and it was just turning dusk when she reached the mansion. Her hand pulled the cold metal gate open, and it slammed behind her.
After climbing the three steps inside, she opened the right door and closed it behind her. The lock snapped into place. Y/n pulled her hood from her head, allowing her hair to fall into place. It was sticking up in different places, and it was frizzy at the roots. Y/n looked through the left archway to see the other Hargreeves standing around in the sitting room.
“So why wasn’t I invited for this ‘gathering’?”
The Hargreeves turned to see Y/n leaning on the wooden archway, “We couldn’t find you.”
“We saw Five in his van. He said you just disappeared.”
Y/n ran a hand through her hair and saw Diego’s face, “Fine. I’ll let it slide this time. Why are we all together in the first place?”
“He thinks Grace killed Dad.” Diego twirled a knife in his hand, and Y/n glared from her place beside Klaus.
Before Luther could defend himself, Y/n interjected, “Don’t even try to deny it. Remember, I can read minds.”
“Cocky bitch.”
“Arrogant twat.”
Klaus’ mouth was full of crisps, “Anyways, let’s get watching!”
Luther exhaled before grabbing the cassette tape beside the old box television. Y/n watched him grab the black rectangle and insert it into the slot. It clicked in with a slight noise before it appeared on the screen. She watched Grace on the television hand Reginald something. Not moments later, Reginald began shaking incessantly. Y/n thought it looked like he was having a seizure. When the tape was over, the television was stuck on the image of Reginald lying in bed, unmoving.
Alone.
“I mean, do you really think Mom would hurt dad?”
“You haven’t been home in a long time, Vanya. Maybe you don’t know Grace anymore.”
Diego fiddled with his knife, “If he were poisoned, it would have shown in the coroner’s report.”
“Well, I don’t need a report to tell me what I can see with my own eyes.”
“Maybe all that low gravity in space messes with your vision.” Diego walked toward the box television.
Y/n watched him reset the tape, “Look closer.”
“Dad has his monocle. Mom stands up. Monocles gone.”
Klaus simpered, “Oh, yeah!”
“She wasn’t poisoning him. She was... taking it. To clean it.” The television clicked to black.
Luther turned, “Then where is it?”
“No, I’ve searched the house, including all her things. She doesn’t have it.”
Diego gripped his knife tight; Y/n watched his knuckles turn white, “That’s because I took it from her. After the funeral.”
“You’ve had the monocle this whole time?” Allison cursed, “What the hell, Diego?”
Luther held out his palm, “Give it to me.”
“I threw it away.”
“You what?” Allison scoffed.
Diego pointed his knife at Luther, “Look, I knew that if you found it on mom, you’d lose your shit, just like you’re doing right now.”
“Diego, you son of a bitch.” Luther took two steps toward Diego.
Y/n stepped between the two men, “Hey, both of you cut the shit.”
Luther tried to move, but he couldn’t. His feet were stuck to the ground. Diego tried to push his arm, but his arm was also frozen in place, the knife still gripped tightly. Y/n held both men in place, saying, “We all know dad wasn’t exactly an open book.”
“I remember one thing he said.” Vanya’s voice was smooth and calm, “Mom was, well, designed to be a caretaker, but... also as a protector.”
Allison furrowed her eyebrows, “What does that mean?”
“She was programmed to intervene if someone’s life was in jeopardy.”
“Well, if her hardware is degrading, then... we need to turn her off.”
Diego struggled to move, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait.”
“Hey!” Y/n yelled, and everyone turned to her, “Listen dickwads, I can’t do this forever. I’m draining my energy as we know it.”
Both men glared at her, “So I’m gonna let you two go, but if either of you lay a hand on each other, I won’t fucking miss this time.”
“She’s not just a vacuum cleaner you can throw in a closet.” Diego finally raised his finger, “She feels things. I’ve seen it!”
Luther pointed at the box television set, “She just stood there, Diego, and watched our father die.”
“I’m with Luther.” Allison caressed her cup of whiskey. “Surprise, Surprise.”
Allison rolled her eye, “Shut up.”
Y/n watched them with narrowed eyes. Their attention went to Vanya, who stood very still and stiffened when she realized the eyes were on her. Vanya looked contradicted and began to stutter, “I- I don’t-“
“Yeah, she shouldn’t get a vote.”
Y/n glared at Diego, “Diego.”
“I was gonna say that I agree with you.”
“Okay. She should get a vote.”
Diego turned to Klaus, “What about you, stoner boy? What do you got?”
“Oh, so, what? You need my help now? Oh, ‘Get out of the van, Klaus!’ Well, welcome back to the van.”
“What van?” Allison asked.
Y/n allowed herself to go still and clear her mind before delving into Klaus’ mind. His mind was always a dangerous place with his specialty, but she saw Diego, Five, and Luther kick him out of the van. Y/n sighed.
“What’s it gonna be, Klaus?”
“I’m with Diego because screw you!” Klaus snapped, “And if Ben were here, he’d agree with me.”
Luther turned to Y/n, who kept a watchful eye on the Hargreeves, “What about you, little Eight?”
“Fuck you, Luther.” She spat on his shoe, “I’m with Diego.”
“So what, that’s four?”
“Wait.”
Diego held up two fingers, “To two.”
“Votes not final yet.” Allison stated, and Diego turned, “What?”
“Five’s not here,” Y/n replied, crossing her arms.
Allison continued, “The whole family has to vote. We owe each other that.”
“Right.”
“No, we should wait.”
Y/n watched Klaus, Luther, and Allison leave the sitting room. She couldn’t help but shiver when thinking about shutting down the only mother figure in her life. Grace was the only one in the mansion who cared about the Hargreeves’ feelings. No one loved the Hargreeves as Grace did, and shutting her down seemed like a sin.
Diego turned around to see Grace standing in the archway, “Hey. How long have you been here?”
Y/n and Vanya followed Diego walking up to Grace. Grace was wearing her usual white button-up shirt and pink skirt. Her heels clicked along with the tile and wood flooring. Y/n watched Grace acknowledge Diego’s question, and she gave him an easy smile.
“You all seem upset. I’ll make cookies.”
Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked to the kitchen, “Do you ever wonder... All those moments with mom, the things she said. Like, was it her, or was it really dad?”
“What are you talking about?” Diego got in Vanya’s face, and Y/n observed, “Well, he built her. And he programmed her to be a mom, to be our mom. Sometimes when I look at her, I just see him.”
“Maybe that was true at first.” Diego agreed, “But she evolved.”
“Well, how do you know?”
“Because dad only loved himself.”
Y/n heard Diego’s footsteps get further away as he walked away. She heard pills being moved, and her head perked up. Vanya was pulling a familiar orange bottle from her pocket. The cap clicked open, and Vanya fiddled to get two capsules out of the container. She took them dry as Y/n read the label.
Her entire body went rigid. She froze in place, reading the name on the prescription. Vanya placed the cap back onto the bottle and put them back into her pocket. She noticed Y/n’s tense body and gave her a gentle smile, “You okay?”
Y/n swallowed thickly, “Fine.”
Perhaps that was the beginning of the end.
She left without another word. For once, her boots were quiet as she climbed up the stairs to her bedroom. For once, Y/n didn’t have any comment to contribute. For once, Y/n was left speechless. Her heart was racing, and she began to trip over her feet. When she reached her bedroom, Y/n shut the door hastily and slid her back down it.
She wanted to scream. She wanted out. She knew that name. Of course, she knew that name.
Now, she wanted to forget that name.
Air was becoming challenging to grasp. Her heart accelerated, and her lungs couldn’t keep up. She was drowning, and she couldn’t reach the surface no matter how much she swam. Her strokes were fast and furious, but she wasn’t moving. She was, floating beneath the darkness, waiting for someone, anyone, him.
Loud. Her ears were ringing. It was the sound of panic, the sound of adrenaline, the sound of falling behind. A loud bang drew her back into her senses. Her blood was no longer pulsing with panic but just pure adrenaline. She was running off the fuel of thrill. Y/n jumped up and almost fell when she opened the door.
Y/n didn’t realize she had unlaced her boots or taken off her jacket. She didn’t have time to grab them. Her feet slid across the wood flooring in her black socks. Her footsteps were soft and quiet as she stumbled down the steps. They seemed never-ending. Her hair was flying everywhere, and she tucked it behind her ears. Y/n made it to the final landing in the foyer.
She saw a man strangling Allison. Allison was lifted off the ground by the man’s big hands around her tiny neck, and Y/n held out her hands from the landing. The man’s grip fell from Allison’s neck, and Luther grabbed the man throwing him into a corner in the foyer. Y/n released her grasp on the man and went down the remainder of the stairs. She gathered with Luther, Allison, and Diego.
“Who the hell are these guys?”
“You’re welcome.”
“I was doing fine.” Diego retorted.
“Oh, yeah, you really had them-“
“Ever hear of a rope-a-dope?”
Y/n snapped, “Must everything be a discussion?”
Gunshots began to echo again. Y/n ducked behind the couch in the sitting room. She tried to keep her breathing even as she heard the other Hargreeves make moves away from the target room. Y/n’s knees were to her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs. Her forehead rested on her knees, trying to be as silent as possible so the gunshots would stop.
When the gunshots ceased, she heard them talk, “I lost my gun.”
“I’m going after them.”
Y/n watched the woman run off in a different direction. The man entered the sitting room, looking at various antiques in the glass display cases around the room’s perimeter. Y/n swallowed and kept quiet as she watched him wander around the Hargreeves sitting room. When his back was turned, she emptied her mind. Her thoughts were thrown into the recycling bin in her brain, and she reached inside his mind.
“Hey, asshole.”
“Shit.”
Y/n watched him look around for the voice, and she stood up from her hiding place. He took heavy steps toward her, but Y/n was small and agile. His fist knocked the air centimeters from her left cheekbone, and she continued to move. When he got close enough, she punched him in the jaw. She watched his eyes water, and he pushed her backward. Her lack of shoes made her stumble and lose her balance.
She was on the ground, and the man’s right foot made contact with her left wrist. She heard cracks, and she winced at the pain. His face was void of any remorse, and his eyes were cold. His left foot kicked her chest, making her back hit the hardwood floor. Y/n coughed heavily. He punched her once in the jaw, and she allowed her face to go slack.
The man watched for sixty seconds before moving his feet from her body. Y/n held her breath until she heard him opening cabinets. She willed herself not to cough and watched him silently. Her body ached, and her left wrist was broken, but she had worse. Y/n only made a noise when someone was heard approaching.
“Hello? Guys?” That smooth, calming voice Y/n could recognize anywhere, “Is everyone okay? Hello? Guys?”
Y/n saw Vanya approach the sitting room, and the air disappeared from her lungs. She was running on pure adrenaline and nothing else. She flung onto her feet as Vanya entered the room. The big man was holding some weapon and was about to swing. Vanya’s back was to the man, and she stood in the center of the two couches. Y/n pushed Vanya out of the way - her wrist aching painfully - and took the hit instead.
Vanya turned, and the man was about to strike when someone spoke in the foyer. Y/n couldn’t make out who it was. Her head was spinning, and her body ached worse than before. The strength of the hit had made Y/n fall onto the carpet, her head narrowly missing the couch. She groaned and used her right arm to sit back up.
“Y/n?” Vanya’s voice sounded muffled, “Are you okay?”
Y/n could see Vanya close up. Vanya’s face was a tad blurred, and her voice sounded drowned out despite sitting right in front of her face, “I’m fine.”
“You didn’t need to do that.”
“Yes, I did.” Y/n replied as her senses returned, “You need to go hide somewhere now. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
Vanya looked reluctant, “But I can-“
“Vanya, go!”
Y/n struggled to her feet but managed her way to the foyer. She could see Vanya in the corner of her eye, hiding somewhere. In the lobby Luther and the man, we’re going back and forth. Y/n was struggling to stand with her aching body and former bullet wound. Maybe if she didn’t collapse because of dizziness, the lack of blood would crumble her. Y/n watched Luther punch the man on the back, making him crumble down to the floor.
The man was on the ground, and Luther hovered over him. He attempted to throw his fist at the Hargreeves man but missed repeatedly. The man used his second hand to punch Luther in the abdomen making him momentarily weak. Luther groaned as the big man stood up. Luther followed not too far behind.
“Y/n, get out of here!” Luther yelled.
Y/n was frozen in place, watching the two men fight. Her hands were held out in front of her despite her broken wrist. Her body was aching. She needed to sit down soon. She was weaker by the second, but she couldn’t let Luther do this alone. Y/n watched them fight, and Luther knocked the man to the ground. His heavy boot was placed on the man’s chest.
Luther took steps toward the small girl, “Y/n?”
“Come here!”
The man grabbed Luther and attempted to bring him down in a tackle. Both men fell to the ground. Luther’s spine hit the tile flooring with a sinister cracking noise. Y/n cringed. The big man stood up and dusted his hands on his pants while Luther lay unmoving in the foyer. The man saw her and sighed.
“Don’t even try,” Y/n warned with her hands out. The man smirked, “Are you gonna do a magic trick?”
“I can do a lot more than that, asshole.”
The man seemed confused about where the voice in his head came from when her mouth didn’t move. Y/n clenched her fists, and the man began to suffocate. Her left wrist aching for clarity. Her body was swaying, and despite losing his ability to breathe, the man was smiling. He could feel her grip loosening, and Y/n tried harder.
Harder was too much, and she crumbled to the ground. Y/n couldn’t feel, see, or hear anything. Her body was completely unconscious and exhausted. She saw the stars and smiled. Y/n traced all the stars behind her eyes. They were glittering and shining so bright. Her heart slowed, and eventually, the stars disappeared.
Her vision was blurry when she opened her eyes. Y/n tried to move her hands to rub her eyes, but they were stuck in place. She blinked until her vision was clear. Her legs couldn’t move either. A woman with brown skin and a short bob cut was before the big man from earlier. The man had short brown hair and blue eyes.
“Number Five, where is he?” The woman asked.
Y/n heard whimpering to her right, and she saw Klaus beside her getting choked, “Don’t… stop….”
She tilted her head in confusion at Klaus’ statement, “I’m almost there.”
“What the fuck.” Y/n murmured and grimaced.
The woman looked down at Klaus’ crotch, “Is that a…?”
“Yep.” The man confirmed.
Y/n chuckled, her hair matted to her face, “You absolute imbeciles.”
“Great, now she’s awake.” The woman groaned, “Oh? You aren’t thrilled to see me again?” Y/n smirked.
She smiled and went to remove her restraints. The rope didn’t move, and Y/n panicked. The other woman smirked at her, and Y/n gritted her teeth. Her energy was mainly there, but she couldn’t move anything. She tried to enter the woman’s mind and couldn’t do that either. Y/n narrowed her eyes at the woman.
“You didn’t think we came unequipped, did you?” The woman asked, “We know all about you.”
“You don’t know shit!”
The woman smiled and caressed Y/n’s cheek, “You’re the most wanted criminal at the Commission.”
“You have the wrong girl.” Y/n replied, “I am no criminal. I was a hero for this city. I’m a Hargreeves. Not a criminal.”
“You aren’t fooling anyone.” The woman cooed.
Y/n looked away from the woman’s caramel eyes and scanned her body. A black patch was placed on the back of her left hand. But it was no ordinary patch. It was a specialized invented patch to withhold any supernatural ability. The patch had a needle in the center, which had to be injected into the person.
When removed, it would drain the user completely.
Klaus looked terrified, and Y/n gave him an understanding look. She would find a way to get the patch off. Y/n sighed and blew the hair out of her face. She could feel the energy thrumming in her body, begging to be released, making her antsy. She tried to move, but it was no use. It was like being trapped in that room fifteen years ago.
“Let me go!” Y/n squirmed in two man’s arms.
The men weren’t phased by her squirming and held her by the armpits. The building was huge, and the floor was all tile. Most of the light came from the sun or the vast windows. The walls were mostly painted grey like the concrete the building was made out of. Y/n was led up to a secluded part of the building. It was dark, and it was suffocating.
The man on her right let her go and opened a metal door to a concrete room. The other man threw her inside. She landed on her knees in the center of the room. The door closed with a bang, and Y/n looked around to see nothing. There was no window, no mattress, no hygenic appliances; there was nothing in this concrete room—nothing but darkness. Y/n felt the energy begging to be released, but she couldn’t use it. She felt something plastered on her back. She had to guess it was something withholding her energy.
“Fuck.”
A scratching noise echoed in the room, “Good evening, darling.”
“Don’t call me that.” Y/n seethed, gritting her teeth.
The voice chuckled, “Doll, I can call you whatever I prefer.”
“Do you like our improvements to your room?”
Y/n clenched her fists, “Oh yes, it’s perfect.”
“Wonderful!” The woman’s cheerful voice echoed, “You seem to be adjusting perfectly. You know the routine. You should get a mission within minutes. See you then!”
The intercom in her room turned off, and Y/n ground her teeth together. She could still feel mud covering her body from her last mission. Her hair was matted to her cheeks, and she had dried blood on her lip. Her head was pounding. Y/n felt a lump grow in her throat, but she swallowed it.
“Fuck…”
Y/n turned to her right and saw Klaus’ begging green eyes. She could feel the energy thrumming throughout her entire body. It ran in her feet, up her legs, through her chest, down her arms, and up to her head. It was painful, and it was giving her a headache. Y/n turned to provide him with a disappointed look and yearned to save her brother from this torture.
“Your powers don’t work, Zero.” The woman said.
Klaus furrowed his eyebrows, “Zero? Who’s Zero?”
The woman chuckled, “So no one knows, huh?” Y/n ground her teeth, “I’ll let you tell them.”
The energy began to feel more overwhelming than comforting, as it usually did. Despite their shortness, her nails dug into her palms, and her head was pounding. Y/n blew the hair from her face once again. She couldn’t imagine the amount of confusion Klaus was going through, probably making his head hurt too. She yearned for his presence, his sarcasm, and his stubbornness. But he wasn’t coming.
Beside her, Klaus began to cough and groan. Y/n cringed, he would be beginning withdrawal soon, and she didn’t want to see that, “Oh! Ah, there’s nothin’ like a little... stranglin’ to get the blood flowin’, am I right?”
“What is so funny, you asshole?”
The man slapped him, and the energy only flowed harder, “Hey!”
“Well, for one... you spent the last ten hours... beating me senseless,” Klaus slurred, “and... waiting for her to wake up... and you’ve learned absolutely nothing.”
Klaus continued, “I mean, nobody tells me shit. The truth is, I’m the one person in that house nobody will even notice is gone.”
A lump formed in Y/n’s throat. Diego would notice her gone within seconds, “You assholes kidnapped the wrong guy!”
She closed her eyes tightly, trying not to imagine his pain. Thanking whoever was above that, she couldn’t feel his pain. Klaus wasn’t always present in her mind, but he was always in the background. During her errands to get her prescription filled, she’d stop by his rehab facility next door to visit him. His words stung worse than a bee, worse than salt in a fresh wound, worse than a sunburn.
The man slapped him again, “Ow! I’m sorry okay?”
“Please make him stop talking.” The man groaned, “Let’s waterboard him.” The woman suggested.
“No.” Klaus whimpered.
“Don’t fucking touch him!” Y/n growled.
Y/n watched the woman fill a bucket with warm water and grab a towel from the linen closet. The woman dragged the towel through the warm water and rung it out. Then she placed it over Klaus’ face, and Y/n was squirming in her seat to remove her restraints. The man held him down as the woman securely held the towel over his face. Klaus began making a slurping noise, and Y/n almost giggled. Klaus was drinking from the towel.
Klaus sighed happily when the towel was released from his face, “Ah! Oh, I needed that.”
“Come on!”
“I was... so parched.” Klaus burped, “Thank you. Thank you.”
The man and woman went into another room. Y/n leaned forward and thought it was possibly the bathroom. Y/n allowed herself a shaky breath. Her mind was whirring faster than a sports car. Hesitantly, she turned towards Klaus, who had an unreadable face.
“Klaus, are you okay?”
“I- I don’t know.” Klaus admitted, “I’m so confused.”
Y/n sighed, “I’ll explain everything when the time is right. But my powers won’t work as long as this patch is on my hand.”
“What happens when the patch comes off?”
“I’m drained completely.” Y/n replied, “My powers are thrumming in my body at hyperactive speed, and having it all taken at once will probably make me pass out.”
She saw Klaus’ eyes return to their hopeful state and tried to move her chair close to him. It was making a loud thump every time it hopped to the side, and she cringed for the people beneath in the lower story, if there was one. When she got close to Klaus’ chair, a force made her neck snap to the side, and her cheek stung. Y/n’s chair was moved further away, and the woman was in her face smiling.
“You bitch.”
Y/n watched the woman step away to talk with the man in whispers. Somehow, her left wrist was in a bandage. Maybe it was the woman or the man? Perhaps it was Diego before she got taken away? God, she missed him so much. Perhaps he’d come looking for her, unlike him. Maybe he’d care enough about her instead of some apocalypse.
“I don’t know, but it’s driving me crazy.” Klaus speaking startled her, “The bitch won’t shut up!”
“Hey! Watch your mouth.” The man scolded, “What did I say about eyes front?”
Y/n groaned, “Shut up, will you? You’re making my headache worse.”
The two kidnappers continued to speak in whispers as Y/n’s headache drained her. Her body felt heavy, and her eyes were having trouble staying open. She craved power, control, and some form of her energy back. Her energy was exhausting her, and she just wanted to let go. She wanted it to take her over completely.
“Hand me his coat.” The woman demanded, and the man picked Klaus’ coat off the ground.
He began to rummage through the old fabric, looking for anything of leverage. Y/n was blinking wearily, watching him with heavy eyes, hoping they wouldn’t find anything. Klaus would speak eventually. Y/n knew that. Klaus was always the first to tell, right before Allison, Luther, Ben, Diego, Five, Vanya, and Y/n. Y/n still had some secrets she’d take to the grave.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait….”
“What are you doing?”
And Y/n passed out. Her energy exhausted her completely, and once again, she was in a dream world filled with unfilled fantasies, like potentially meeting her parents who gave her up. Maybe they’d want a superhero daughter who was also a secret assassin on the side who killed people for three years. Perhaps they’d like that responsibility again. Maybe they had started over with a new child and a new family.
When she woke up, she was somewhere else, and someone was screaming beside her. Y/n couldn’t tell how much time had passed, but now duck tape covered her mouth, and she could hear vacuuming somewhere close. She opened her eyes to see Klaus beside her in the same position with duck tape on his mouth. But she was close to him now. He could easily rip off the patch.
Y/n stuck her tongue through her lips and began putting saliva anywhere her tongue could reach. It covered her lips and some of the surrounding area. The taste of the duck tape was disgusting, but it needed to come off. She continued licking for a long time before it fell from one side.
“Klaus!” She whispered, and Klaus’ head snapped in her direction “Mmm?”
“Rip this patch off.” Y/n gestured to her left hand.
Klaus looked scared, “Please.”
Hesitantly, Klaus moved his hand toward hers. He gave her a saddening look, and Y/n wanted to cry on the spot. However, Klaus pulled the patch off slowly. It was utterly dreadful. Once it hit the ground, Y/n could feel everything slipping away. She barely had any energy left after having it go from full to empty so fast. She clenched her fist and the microchip shattered. Klaus’ eyes glimmered.
“Shit.” And she saw stars again.
Except for this time, she didn’t see unfulfilled fantasies. She saw green eyes and dark brown hair. She has a navy and maroon uniform and bright blue. She saw him, and she could feel her overwhelming amount of devotion to him. She could feel her heart thumping in her ears and her head pounding. She heard his voice, his sarcasm, his care-laced words, and his overwhelming amount of something for her.
She just couldn’t place what it was yet.

Today is Wednesday but not just a regular Wednesday. It’s the day of the meeting with Elizabeth Olsen and her manager, Jane Vernon.
Your phone alarm sounds break the silence in your room slowly but sure it gets louder enough to motivate you to start the day. You woke up with mixed feelings. Excited yet nervous at the same time. You turn on some music. Sunset Lover - Petit Biscuit starts to play and you get ready. After a fresh shower, you put on just enough nude color makeup then you go to your walk-in closet to pick a close-fitting button up white shirt with burgundy stripes and black slim fit women's suit and trousers with burgundy open toe high heels that match with your nails color since it’s your favorite color. You get your side parted wavy medium length burgundy colored hair done that makes it flow down to your shoulder. You may be the type of girl who doesn’t really like to put on much makeup, but you take your hair, clothings and nails pretty seriously as well as your perfume.
As soon as you are all ready and putting your heels on while sitting on a little sofa in the middle of your closet, your phone rings. You guessed that it’s Mitchel and you are right.
“Good morning darling.” You answered as you continued to put on your shoes. “Oh wow, that's the spirit! Good morning love! Are you excited for today? Are you ready?” said Mitchel on the other end. “Well, yeah but no but also yeah that I’m all ready to go.” You replied while you took another look in front of the mirror and slowly twirled to make sure you looked good. Then you spray a little bit of perfume and you are ready to go downstairs while still on the phone. “Okay great. I will see you over there, I want to say hi to Jane. Everything will be okay. Don't be nervous, okay Y/n?” Mitchel tried to make you feel better. “Thank you Mitchel. I appreciate it. I’m leaving soon so I’ll see you there. Bye.” You grab your medium size leather purse and go downstairs.
As usual, your mom is already awake, sitting on the big living room couch. “Morning Ma. I have a meeting this morning. It shouldn’t be that long but you know Mitchel, he might want to have brunch after that but just call me if you need anything, okay? Love you Ma.” You gave her a hug and went to the garage. “Okay hun. Good luck. Love you too.”
You put on your prescription aviator style sunglasses, blast some music to amp you up started by White Lies - Odesza then start driving. The sun was up but not too bright, the traffic wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be so you arrived there a little too early.
As you walked into the lobby you saw a coffee shop so you decided to get some ice coffee for you. Just when your order is ready and you are about to grab it, you notice a familiar face whose order is ready too. It was Lizzie grabbing her order. Eye contact was caught between you two and you gave a smile just to be friendly and she replied with a nod and small smile. You recognize her even though her long dirty blonde hair flawlessly covers both sides of her face and she is wearing sunglasses that were intended to cover her face so she won’t be recognized. You both walk towards the elevator and blend in with a group of people in the elevator. You saw her pressed the floor button then she dived back into whatever she was doing with her phone. The elevator stopped on your floor, some people went out to go to other offices which are on the same floor as Vernon’s office. Lizzie went out as well but she stopped in front of the elevator to answer a phone call so she didn’t know that you both actually have the same destination to meet Jane.
After you greeted and talked to Aaron, Jane’s assistant, he informed you to wait in the waiting room. Few minutes later, you heard that Lizzie came in and was told the same thing as you were. She is sitting on the chair across you talking on the phone with her best friend about the plan to meet up after the meeting, while you are browsing on your phone and enjoying your ice coffee you can feel that sometimes she takes a quick glance once or twice at you without knowing who you are and why you are there.
“I don’t even wanna be here. I still think it’s a stupid idea to get me another personal assistant. This already made me upset to begin with and it’s just gonna make me not like this person already even though I know it’s not her fault to get hired by Jane.” She tried to talk as quietly as possible but not quite enough for you not to be able to hear it. Aaron came and told her that she can come into the meeting room. “I gotta go, I’ll see you later after the meeting. Bye.”
She hangs up then proceeds to follow Aaron to the meeting room. After what you heard, you can only chuckle to yourself knowing this is not gonna be easy work between you both. Aaron comes for your turn. “Ms. Y/l/n, they are ready for you. You can come this way.” Aaron guides you to the meeting room. You smiled and thanked him as he opened the door for you.
You come into the meeting room that has large windows around it that give natural light and a pretty sky view decorated with clouds and top of skyscrapers of L.A with the trails of the streets and cars that look so small from up here. You see Lizzie is sitting next to Jane with Mitchel sitting in front of them, parted by a big rectangle glass table.
“Y/n darling! You made it!” Mitchel came to you and gave you a cheek to cheek kiss as always. “Hi Mitch. I’m glad to be here.” You smiled.
“Come, let me introduce you to these fabulous ladies. Jane, Lizzie this is Y/n Y/l/n. She is my best friend slash the best personal assistant you are looking for. Y/n, this is Elizabeth Olsen and her manager Jane Vernon.” Mitch proudly introduces you to them.
“Nice to meet you Y/n, Mitch talked a lot about you once he knew I was looking for a professional assistant. I hope you don't mind me calling you by your first name.” While Jane offered her hand for a friendly handshake yet felt so formal, you can see from the corner of your eyes Lizzie’s jaw dropped a little, looking at you up and down realizing you might have heard what she said on the phone earlier about you. “The pleasure is mine Mrs. Vernon and yeah I don't mind you calling me by my first name” You gave a firm professional handshake and smiled. “You can call me Jane.”
You then slightly turn your head to Lizzie and her beautiful green eyes are now so easily noticeable by you without her sunglasses on. “Ms. Olsen, It’s nice to meet you.” You smiled and tried to stay professional even though you know how she feels about this meeting and about you. There is an awkward vibe from Lizzie towards you since she thinks you heard her conversation but her stubbornness about this whole thing is bigger than the awkwardness itself that made the friendly Lizzie respond a little cold to you. “Thanks, same here.” She gave you a quick handshake but you can feel the softness of her skin even though just for a few seconds.
The four of you take a seat. “So Y/n, this is not an interview because practically you are already hired because I read your resume plus the reference from Mitch here. I gotta admit, it’s pretty impressive. Lots of years of experience working in this field, you have worked with big names in Hollywood. You speak five languages and that’s another big plus. We have this meeting just so we can sign the contract and agreement. I believe Mitch already gave you the details of Do’s and Don'ts and our expectation specially from Lizzie here.” Jane explained while she was looking at your resume then slid some papers in front of you on the table for you to take a look at it.
“Well, to be honest what I wanted was actually simple, I don’t want any new personal assistant but Jane insisted on giving it a try, so here I am. So, I hope you are as great as your resume Y/n to make my try worth it.” Lizzie said it in a quite firm tone with the best pretend smile she can do. Deep down she hoped what she just said would’ve just made you change your mind.
“Ha Ha Lizzie was just joking. Isn’t she funny?” Jane laughed awkwardly and tried to give Lizzie a look about what she said.
“Is that so, Ms.Olsen? Don’t you worry about it. I hope the way I work and the way I do my job suits you.” You gazed at her eyes before you gave a fake smile. You tried to remind yourself in your mind that you respect Mitch and don’t want to put him in a hard time with his client even though Jane is a good friend of his otherwise your reaction would be different.
“This is the contract, it will be only for two years but it might be for less than that. If it does change to less than two years, there will be a notice in advance. It can also be terminated early if there is a mutual decision by both parties. All of this is written in it. It says you acknowledged and  agreed with what I just informed you. You can sign on every section that’s marked X” Jane explained all the details while she showed each point. You read everything, gazed at Lizzie’s mesmerizing green eyes and gave a little smirk to her then signed each section. As you can see, this clearly upset Lizzie.
“Okay, everything is good. In this envelope, there are all Lizzie’s schedules, addresses and numbers. Plus all lists what she likes and dislikes. Sometimes you need to drive with her, sometimes you don't have to. I’m sure you know the drill, but just a friendly reminder that everything is confidential, especially all Marvel related. You can start on Friday. I guessed that’s all. Welcome to our family Y/n. We are thrilled that you joined us here, right Lizzie?” Jane finalized everything with another handshake with you and Mitchel. “Yeah, sure. Now if you guys excuse me, I gotta go right now. Sorry.” Lizzie put a tiny smile in the corner of her lips, waved goodbye then left in a rush and looked upset.”
As soon as Lizzie left and the door was closed, Jane apologized. “Ummm, Mitchel, Y/n I’m truly sorry for how Lizzie acted earlier. Trust me, she is actually a very sweet, genuine and friendly person. That’s the reason I have been her manager and agent for years, she’s like a sister to me. It’s just that she sometimes can be very determined or stubborn with what she wants or what she doesn't want and not afraid to show it but I’m sure she will slowly understand why I need to have Y/n’s help. She just has anxiety when she has to adjust or deal with new people. I hope you guys can understand.”
“Don’t worry about that Jane. I have met Lizzie and I know how sweet she is. Like I told you before, Y/n has her own way of working and don't be surprised with how straight forward she is plus she doesn't sugar coat things. She is eccentric in a good way. Right Y/n?” He nudged your arm and smiled.
“Haha. yeah sure Mitch.” You answered jokingly. “I guess we better get going. Thank you Jane. Nice seeing you as always.” You and Mitch bid farewell to Jane and left. “Bye guys. See you again.” Jane walked back to her office room.
“Mitchel, what the hell was that? Why did she act like that? On top of all, why didn’t you tell me that she actually didn’t want an assistant?!” You tried to whisper so nobody at the office heard as you both were walking out of the office.
“Yeah about that, I forgot to tell you. I’m sorry. “ Mitch squinted his eyes waiting because he was worried how your reaction was gonna be.
“You are lucky we are best friends otherwise I wouldn’t sign that contract and would’ve said NO on the spot after what she said. I already don’t like her. This is not gonna be easy.” You said it jokingly but it has a little bit of truth in it.
“Haha. I love you too!” Mitch replied happily, knowing you would help him no matter what. Both of you parted, continue with your days.
