I woke up to the feeling of Severus getting up for work. He apparated me to the school after he got ready, tucking me into the bed in his private quarters, insisting I rest one more day before returning to school. It was also early and he wasn't going to leave me alone at his house and figured I better come back at some time. I slept a few more hours waking up to the sound of Severus teaching in his room, yelling at some first years I'm sure. Looking at the clock I guessed it was second period. I laughed to myself before sitting up slowly, yawning and pushing back my hair. I slowly stood hearing my joints pop as I moved towards my suitcases, shrinking them I put on my robes, tucking the small cases in my pockets and putting on my slippers. I sighed and tried apparating back to my dorm, I opened my eyes but was still in Snapes bedroom.  I frowned, exhausted and not having much energy at the moment. I realized something though, Severus probably knows all that.
"I swear if he trapped me in here-" I muttered before grabbing my wand. I closed my eyes and focused, mustering up as much energy as I could although I felt incredibly drained. I muttered a spell to let me get past any spells Severus might have used, he probably shouldnt have taught me that one but, he was worried. Feeling the familiar waves of nausea, I popped back into my bedroom. There was no one there because of classes, so I used the time to put away my things, just waving my wand around to put things away. I got into the shower, watching as red water washed down the drain from the dried blood on my back and waist. Zoning out as I scrubbed over the scars on my body. They were still healing, red and sore. I didnt dwell on it too much. Hurrying with the rest of my routine. I finished up, getting dressed and doing some light makeup. I felt tired, but I'd already missed a day of school, and I had enough energy to go to at least half of my classes. I sighed as I checked the time, lunch was just about to end so I decided to just wait and catch Draco on his way to potions. Realizing I wasn't sure how Harry was, or if Draco even knew of what happened over vacation.
Making my way down the halls, I saw the tall blonde boy walking down through the dungeons. I quickly walked over to him tapping on his shoulder with a smile, "Hey!" I said excitedly, he turned to face me and had a tired look on his face, dark circles beneath his eyes, a bruise surely spread across his cheek, with pale skin and messy hair, "What's wrong? What happened to your face?" I asked quickly shifting to a concerned look. "Did your dad do that? Is it about Harry? I know that was scary but he's ok-" he just shook his head, "It's not Harry okay? I don't want to talk about it." he wouldn't even look me in the eyes and just kept walking to class. I just nodded as I followed him there, walking in with him. I figured Severus had not realized I wasn't in his room since he was busy catching up on work and assumed I would be sleeping all day. I followed Draco in, him walking fast ahead. I noticed Severus was facing away from us, writing something on the chalkboard. I noticed a strange thing when I walked in, as soon as I stepped in the room, he stopped and turned. He made eye contact with me, giving me a glance over and then looking away and back to what he was writing. It was subtle, but it was like he sensed I'd come in and tried his best to ignore my presence. I went and sat with Draco. Watching him look down like a zombie, still and tired. Not even present.
I heard the sound of the bell and looked up at the front, Severus was setting down the chalk and watching the last few scrambling students take their seats. He looked over at me and I could tell by the look he gave me. He wasn't happy I was up walking around already. I noticed he glanced over at Draco, and the boy was looking back at him, slowly looking away again and Severus just had a look of concern and sympathy. I furrowed my brows at the exchange and watched as Severus cleared his throat and waved his hand, shutting the door.
"I apologize for my absence yesterday," he paused, glancing at me for a moment before continuing "read these chapters and answer these questions." was all Snape said, pointing to the board, "Turn it in at the end of class." he added in his deep velvety voice, walking over to his desk and sitting down scribbling away. Draco didn't speak all class, I finished before him unlike normal, he was so distracted. I looked at Severus and he was still hunched over writing. I pushed my paper over to Draco so he could see my answers. He looked over and relaxed his shoulders, copying what I had written. Class was quiet and bare. No one chatted in here out of fear of our Professor. The bell rang soon and all the kids flooded out. Draco took off, not even stopping to wait for me. I got up and walked out without a glance in Severus' direction, figuring I'd talk to him tonight.
My plans were tarnished when I realized Severus wasn't at dinner, nor was he in his room after. I didn't want to look weird consistently checking on him, so after noticing his absences twice I stuck around in my room. Doing some homework I had and then reading a book, which I still had yet to get around to finishing. I checked my clock and it was around midnight almost two. Everyone in my room was sleeping and so was the rest of the school I assumed. Stepping onto the cold floors I got up and put my robes on over my silk nightgown, putting on my slippers and grabbing my wand. I couldn't help but let myself get carried away worrying about Severus. I knew he was probably fine, but I wanted to talk to him about this morning and class, and I hadn't seen him since. I thought for a moment about which teacher would be on duty, knowing it wasnt Severus. I couldn't think of whose night it was so I just shrugged it off, figuring I would be hiding from them anyways.
Tiptoeing out of the room, through the common room, I made my way into the hall. Not seeing any lights and grateful his classroom wasn't too far. I made my way slowly and quietly down the hall. Shivering at the cold air that passed me, leaving goosebumps on my skin. I hoped that he was awake if he was still here at all. I heard shuffling and quickly stopped to look around. I heard a few steps and voices and moved to the shadows, waving my wand and camouflaging with the wall. I saw a soft glow coming from around the corner and heard two muttering voices. "Yes Minerva I assure you there isn't anything to worry about for the time being." I heard the familiar deep voice whisper and I tensed up, backing up to the wall. "I just dont think Albus is fit to be juggling so much right now." I heard the older Professor quarrel. I furrowed my brows at her comment and watched as they came into view. "Albus knows his limits." Severus commented in his usual annoyed tone, they stopped only five feet from me, "But should he need assistance, or something were to change-" I saw Severus look in my general direction glancing over the area and I internally panicked, even though I was surely not visible, it really felt like he was looking me in the eyes. "I will let you know first if your assistance is needed Minerva, now if you'll excuse me I must get to grading." I watched as he reassured the woman and she nodded, glancing over his stance and walking off. He watched as she walked away, until she was out of sight and her footsteps could no longer be heard.
He stood there for a moment making sure no one else was around, "Come on." he said in a stern tone still, walking to his door and opening it. I took off the spell and hung my head down like a shameful pet as I walked into his room. "Merlin Y/n what the hell were you doing?" he said, setting his things down on his desk rather harshly. "How did you see me?" I whined unfairly. "Because i'm not an amateur." he groaned and I sighed at his tone. Minerva had gone I didn't understand why he was still talking that way. "What do you want?" he asked, walking over to the door to his private quarters.
"You weren't at dinner." I said remembering the night he'd bugged me with the same statement. "Yes.." he drawled out in annoyance and I rested my hand on my hips and chewed the inside of my cheek. "Is something the matter?" I asked softly and he laughed as I followed him into his room. "I don't know, i've had a long day and I come back to find a student hiding, not very well I might add, outside my door in the middle of the night." I frowned at his disappointment and followed him to his bedroom as he put things away. "I'm sorry but McGonagall didn't see me, ok? That's the whole point of the spell." He hung up his robes and looked down at me, "She's very smart Y/n and I doubt you are so confident, to not make a mistake and expose us!" he quipped and I furrowed my brows at him, I grew annoyed with the way he was speaking to me, and often grew tired of his hot and cold behavior when it came to our relationship being a secret. He noticed the shift in my face and the damper on my eyes, "I just wanted to see you." I stated simply and his own face shifted. Frowning lightly I saw his dark eyes warm up as he took a step back and realized his sharp demeanor. "I apologize." he said softly, sitting down on the edge of the bed and looking forward.
I sat next to him doing the same, "it's okay, you just need to learn to check yourself sometimes. Especially when talking to me. I'm not just any other student when we are alone." He nodded and I took his hand, intertwining our fingers. "How did you get out without me realizing this morning?" he asked and I shook my head, "You mean how did I get through your little trap?" He stayed quiet and I let out a sigh, "I know you just wanted me to stay close by, but you can't literally lock me in your room." I laughed and he nodded, "It was a momentary lapse in judgement." he excused and I just laughed resting my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry about leaving class without talking to you." I added and he just shook his head, "It's alright, it's not like I asked you to stay anyhow." I thought for a moment about the interaction between Draco and him figuring it wouldn't hurt to ask. "What's going on with Draco?" I asked leaning my head back up and looking at him, "Im not sure, but with the spring vacation events, im sure he was left unwell." I shook my head, not believing that to be a good reason. "I think Lucius hit him." I said sadly and Severus didn't hesitate in nodding along, "I wouldn't put it past him." I frowned at the comment. Rubbing my hands over my face. "I can't believe I ever fooled around with him." I mumbled ashamed and Severus just stayed quiet. I looked over at him and could tell he was pouting over my comment.
"Are you jealous Sev?" I asked lightheartedly, staring at his expression. He sat still and turned to look at me, an annoyed look having taken over his face, "No." he drawled out in his deep velvety voice. "Oh come now, its alright if you are." I reassured him and he scoffed, "Im not jealous, and I sure as hell wouldn't be jealous of that man, ever." I read his face, seeing how his brow raised and his jaw tightened. I snaked my hands up over his shoulders, rubbing them slightly, "Awe are you worried about Lucius still having power over me?" I teased, removing my robes and moving up on my knees, standing behind him on the bed, continuing to massage his shoulders. I could feel he was still tense at the question, "No.." he retorted, sinking into my hands and not protesting my actions. "Its sounding a bit like you are.." I continued poking at him and he let out a breath, probably rolling his eyes as well. "Why must you harass me?" he exaggerated and I smiled, stopping my hands, and leaving them on his shoulders as I leaned down by his ear. I whispered gently, "Because I know, that you know, even if he did have power over me, it wouldn't be shit compared to the power that you have." surely breathing hot air on his neck, he tensed up again, raising a brow at the statement and turning to look at me. "Is that so?" he smirked and I bit my lip as I smiled and nodded. "Well in that case.." he spoke as he turned his body to face mine, leaning against the headboard. I straddled his lap and we gazed into each others eyes. He reached up and softly tucked my hair from my face, "I will be using this power often now you know?" he teased and I shrugged, "Oh no its the end of the world!" I mocked, leaning in to kiss him as I giggled. He looked over at the clock and then back at me, "Its almost two Y/n, its already bad enough you are in my private quarters during the day." he stated and I just ignored his comment, running my hands up his chest and around his jaw, kissing him once again.

taglist: let me know if you’re interested in being added!
Roughly a month had gone by, my last real interaction with Malfoy being my first school day in the Great Hall.
Snape had reassigned partners and tables after only the first day, likely due to Harry and Ron’s noise from the first class. I was paired with Hermione, thankfully. She was pleasantly quiet but helpful when she needed to be. My friendship with her had furthered quite a bit, but less so with the boys. I wasn’t actively attempting to befriend Harry after Snape’s hostility.
Flitwick and I hit it off and he quickly became my runner-up favorite teacher, just behind Snape. I frequently stayed behind in his classroom to discuss muggle music and the world as a whole. It was the only part of my day I could get truly lost in.
I’d eventually learned the schedules of Luna and Cho, sitting with them on days they’d be in the dining hall. Rarely was my attention drawn to the blond across the hall on the days he was there, either. He’d been looking rather sick, lately.
Not that I actively tried to look at him.
It just struck me whenever I’d happen to catch his silvery strands in my peripheral. His face looked sunken, his cheeks hollow. Instead of marble, he looked almost grey. It made my heart hurt a little. How could someone look so ghostly, as if he was always floating? It reminded me of a dried volcano, stiff and cold.
His head bobbed up, his eyes meeting mine for the first time since I’d walked off from him a month ago.
“Eris?” A voice snapped me back to the present. It was Hermione. She had said something that I didn’t catch at all.
I looked at her, my mouth slightly parted. Dumbly, I replied, “Huh?”
She gave me a small laugh and stabbed at her food, cocking her head to the side exasperatedly.
“I said, Snape is assigning new partners, something about people falling behind already. I’ll miss the quiet of sitting next to you. Seriously, I will.” She let her shoulders droop sadly, a glimmer of sadness in her eyes.
I heard her teeth slide on the fork as she ate, mildly sullen. I felt bad. I hadn’t even known we were switching partners, I must have been too caught up during potions to hear Snape mention the change.
“Hey, we’ll still eat together. Maybe I’ll kick Ron out of his seat every once in a while.” I joked. Her mood seemed to perk back up a bit at that, nodding.
“That’d be perfect, wouldn’t it, Ron?” She nudged him jokingly.
He whipped his neck to face her, food falling out of his mouth. He was too busy talking to Harry to notice our conversation, so he looked absolutely lost.
“Wha…?” Food tumbled from his mouth. I groaned and Hermione bit her lip in a laugh. The way she looked at him was cute, a twinkle in her eyes lighting as if everything he did was enchanting.
“Nothing, Ronald. Just… Chew your bloody food!” She choked out, noticing the knowing smile I was giving her halfway through her sentence.
He scrunched his nose up, confused and annoyed. He finished, crumbs still dusting his lips.
“Whatever, ‘Mione.” He dismissed, turning back to Harry. They were discussing something Quidditch related.
She exhaled through her nose, rolling her eyes. I watched as she packed her sprawled books and papers into her bag, deep in her thoughts.
Her eyes lit up for a moment and she immediately looked back at me.
“Oh! I almost forgot. We all have lessons but you’re free after this, right? Snape said he’d post a parchment outside his room with the partners. You should check it out.” She beamed.
I paused in thought for a second. Should I go check? I shrugged.
“Yeah, sure. I will.” I saw no harm in making my way to the classroom. I’d gotten a much better hang of the hallways to my classes and the library. The dungeons and the Room of Requirement remained untraveled for now, the map buried in the bottom of my bag. I’d taken it out to mark it up whenever I discovered a new direction or an alternate way to a class.
It was incredibly helpful and I was glad I befriended Hermione. Maybe I could go check out partners and find her later to let her know who she got. I’m sure she’d appreciate knowing beforehand what she was in for.
Satisfied, she dropped her last book in her bag and stood.
“Right, well I’ll see you!” She waved farewell, already taking off from the table. Ron and Harry were still engrossed in their conversation about Quidditch. I tuned in, a name immediately catching my ear.
“Of course we’ll win, Harry. Malfoy’s played like shit lately. Serves him right, bloody bastard.” Ron bragged. Harry nodded in response, noticing my sudden interest in the conversation.
“Eris, you haven’t been to a Quidditch game yet, have you?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Ah, no I haven’t.” I sheepishly rubbed the back of my neck. I didn’t have an intense interest in sports in the muggle world and wasn’t sure how much more exciting they could be in the wizarding world, so it hadn’t piqued my interest.
Harry’s head leaned against his hand and he seemed to nod slowly for a second before smacking his hands on the table.
“Come to the game today. I’ll ask Hermione to save you a seat.” He mused decidedly. Ron shrugged, agreeing.
“Okay, sure. I’ll come then.” I confirmed.
Glad at my response, he turned his attention back to Ron.
“Ready to go?” He asked him.
They got up and left for their next lesson, which I’m pretty sure was a history class I’d often heard them complain about. I still sat, popping a final piece of food into my mouth. I planned out my route in my head. First to Snape’s, then to the library to study intensively.
It felt like a solid enough plan.
I stood and left the hall, making sure I didn’t leave anything at the table. I made my way to Snape’s classroom. It was a different way than when I’d originally followed Malfoy and I was grateful I didn’t have to relive my cowardice every time I went to Potions in the mornings.
The clock tower chimed while I was walking and people pushed by me as I made my way down the hallways. Some people stood idly and hung out with one another, sitting in window sills or quickly scurrying somewhere.
I watched a class fill into Snape’s classroom and I walked up to the doorway. A small plaque with a scroll of parchment hung on the wall.
“FIRST PERIOD PARTNERS
HERMIONE GRANGER - NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM
HARRY POTTER - SEAMUS FINNIGAN
RONALD WEASLEY - PADMA PATIL
ERIS WOODWORK - DRACO MALFOY “
There was more, but my heart stuck in my throat. This couldn’t be real. I reread it several times, finally making my way to the bottom.
There was a tiny footnote stating partner changes were not permitted and must remain as written on the parchment. I felt myself shrink. Maybe Snape didn’t know how bad Malfoy would treat me?
I shook my head at the thought. It was quite obvious how poorly he treated everyone. Just because my interactions with him have been few and far between doesn’t mean he didn’t endlessly snip at other people.
In fact, the only times I ever heard his voice was when he was chastising Harry or Hermione, or making a comment about how Ron lives in squalor. It was unpleasant but at the very least I could be glad it wasn’t directed towards me.
I dreaded this partnership, but at least now I’d read the list like I said I would. Later, I’d be able to tell Hermione and the boys who they’d been partnered with.
I took off to the library, my mind spinning. I accidentally bumped into someone in the hallway and his hands shot out to steady my shoulders before I could fall to the ground. I recognized him as Malfoy’s original partner in Potions.
He eyed me up and down, removing his hands once I was steady. I vaguely recalled Ron calling him Zabini.
“Be careful. Never know who you’ll run into in these halls. You’re lucky it was me.” He spoke smugly, clearly a bit vain.
I raised an eyebrow at him, nodding.
“Yeah, I’ll be more careful.” I replied. I started to walk off when he spoke, tucking his hands in his pockets.
“Fuckin’ better be.” Was all he said as he continued to walk as well.
It unsettled me in the weird way that Slytherins were good at. A switch seemed glued to their emotions, fully able to flip at any time. It was startling. A chill eased down my spine and I hurried toward the library, no longer taking my time as I had before.
Finally arriving a bit breathless, I entered the space that had become most familiar to me over the last month. Giving a nod in Madam Pince’s direction, she gave me a puckered and stiff smile.
She was an intolerable vulture that only cared for her books, but I’d come to be in her relatively good graces. With my quiet presence and care for the texts, I was often the only one in the library with her. In her own way, I think she kind of liked me there.
Tucking into my usual space behind a few large bookshelves, I pulled a lesson book out of my school bag, along with a parchment and quill. We had just gone over a new spell in Flitwick’s class and I was determined to study it down to every flick of the wand.
A seat pulled out beside me and a book dropped down onto the table just loud enough for me to wince. I glanced over. It was “Libatius Borage’s ADVANCED POTION MAKING” book. I recognized it from my class with Snape.
I watched black robes swish down into the seat beside me, defeated looking. My surprise was immeasurable when I met empty, silvery eyes and messy moonbeam-colored hair. I couldn’t stifle a tiny gasp that slipped from my lips.
“Malfoy…?”
He leaned his head back against the top of the chair, remaining in quiet for what felt like a couple minutes as I dumbfoundedly stared at him. Seeming to find his resolve, he sat up. He leaned forward towards the table and didn’t meet my eyes again.
“Snape reassigned everyone because of me.” He stated. He was looking straight ahead, his eyes travelling up the spines of books in front of the table we were at. It felt wrong hearing a real sentence from him, especially one that wasn’t littered with insults.
“He thinks I’m fucking falling behind.” He was the second Slytherin I’d heard swear today, but his anger didn't quite reach his eyes. I watched a stray strand of hair fall from his slicked back ones, lightly resting on his forehead. He looked hopelessly disheveled the longer I looked at him.
My eyebrows knit together with concern.
“Are you okay, Draco?” I tried to be genuine, my voice soft and low. I barely breathed it and regretted it the second I said it as he flipped to face me. His lips were pressed in a tight line, chapped and pale.
“Don’t you dare call me by my first name, mudblood.” He snapped.
I felt my body tense up and my blood run cold at the tone he used. I desperately fought the water that immediately welled up in my eyes, coaching myself to just breathe carefully. I hoped he couldn’t tell how pathetic he made me feel. I just wanted to move on, now.
I decided that if he didn’t want my help, that he didn’t need it. There was nothing I could do to help him, and talking clearly wouldn’t solve anything. I wasn’t going to give him power over me, so I did the only thing I could think of.
I went on as normal. I focused back on the book for Flitwick’s, pulling my wand from my bag and placing it on the desk. Flitwick had even written a couple notes for me himself, explaining things in a better way the book could.
I had spoken to him about Scourgify, mentioning how Cho had done it and it was something I wanted to learn. He included notes about how to perform it, but I kept failing without a physical example of how to cast it.
All I had in my head was the memory of Cho, which I’d been too in shock from Malfoy’s prank to fully grasp the technique of. I had been trying to practice on dirty spoons I’d snagged from the Great Hall. I kept one wrapped in a fabric napkin and tucked into my bag, switching the spoon out for a different one each time I went to eat.
Ignoring the blond sitting next to me, I pulled the spoon out and placed it on the table in front of me. I unraveled it and there it was, just a gross spoon.
Taking a deep breath, I picked up my wand and reread Flitwick’s notes, as well as the pages in the textbook. Holding a book in one hand and my wand in the other steadily, I focused on the spoon.
“Scourgify.” I half whispered, trying to work with the tiny bit of light that sparked on my wand. I could never get farther than just a tiny emittance from my wand. It had been weeks and I still struggled to get it. It was clear from my frustration that this wasn’t the first time.
I heard a scoff from my side. I realized a set of steely eyes had focused on what I was doing as if I were some kind of entertainment. I ignored him, trying it again. And again.
I had attempted Scourgify on the spoon a good four times before he shot up out of his chair, blatantly annoyed.
“You’re literally doing everything wrong.” He muttered crossly.
I heaved a sigh, dropping my book to the table. I turned to put my wand away in my bag but he stopped me. He stood behind my chair, leaning over my shoulder. Mint and cologne overpowered my senses as he corrected me sourly.
“No, just… Merlin, you have to-” he grabbed my wrist and pointed towards the spoon, swishing my hand in a sort of ‘S’ shape. “Swish it, like this. Say it. Now.” He instructed rudely, guiding my hand to motion correctly. His cold, silver ring made me clench my wand as tightly as the night I’d got it.
“Scourgify.” I spoke boldly, jumping a slight bit as the grime left the spoon in an immediate little spark. I swallowed loudly, a disbelieving laugh bubbling softly through my lips. I turned my face to thank him before my mind could reject the idea.
However, when I turned, he had simply gone. I guess I was a bit glad he had disappeared, otherwise I would have proved his point by thanking him. Stroked his ego, probably.
I turned back to my book, writing down what I had just learned. I felt so excited and accomplished that I’d pushed away how weird that situation really was.
Did he really just grab my wrist like that? Why did he never seem to have a grasp on personal space? I tried to move on, finding the dustiest book I could find to try the spell again.
Much to my disappointment when, just as before, trying the spell only made my wand fizzle slightly.
Disappointed, I slumped down into my seat. I spent the next half hour trying to focus on Potions instead, opting to note things I noticed during class. Such as the physical traits of ingredients I was confused by.
Out of my peripheral, I noticed a light-blond head duck quietly from between some shelves, past me, and out of the library doors.
There was a book on the opposite end of the table that wasn’t there before.
I stood and walked over, picking it up. I flicked through it and much to my surprise, it was a Charms book. It was filled with neatly scribbled notes in the margins, shapes and arrows showing how to cast some simple charms I knew would get covered this year.
Some of the ink was slightly smeared a tiny bit, clearly brand new. Whereas other notes in it were old and the ink slightly faded.
Flipping to the very back cover, I read
‘If lost, return to Draco L. Malfoy’
in the same handwriting as the notes throughout, slightly faded.
What the hell?
A piece of parchment slipped from between some of the pages into my lap.
“You’re dense. Read my notes and maybe you won’t look so ridiculous.” It read.
That made much more sense. I guess I'll just... Study this all, then.

Newton's Laws of Potion  | Severus Snape
Tumblr media
Thank you anon for the request!
Pairing: Severus Snape x femme!reader (Ravenclaw)
Word Count: ~1.5K
Warnings: Not movie/book timeline accurate, slowburn, touch-starved Snape of sorts, etc. Unrelated title that I pulled out of my ass
A/N: I’ve strayed slightly from the original request, but I’ve officially done it lmaoooo...it’s on the shorter side, but this was a fun brain break to write. Might have to do a part two yule ball sm sm, but no promises. Enjoy and thank you for the encouragement! Especially @sempervenefica :))
Also if you have a better title name, lmk (my default is puns because I love them)
Her unrefinement showed in her teaching methods which only aided in how she got under Severus' skin with little effort.  Most new hires he wasn't fond of, but her, she created her own, distinct category of bothersome.  There was always a problem she presented him with a solution at the ready. It was all a ploy to remind Severus what she thought of him, something he never asked for, let alone desired.
Severus watched her polished finger move from left to right across the paper, repeating the recipe of the potion as if he hadn't come up with it himself, "...Here, this is where I'm confused..."
Reading it back himself, he saw how she questioned his key ingredient. The very thing that took him too long to discover. He earned his title rightfully and the muggle-born witch thought otherwise.
Only continuing to add to the onset headache he felt, she said, "By adding the live element of the plant, you leave too much room for error on part of the students."
"Good," He bit lightly, "It'll weed out the true talent."
"They are getting confused and with this," She presented yet again her premade solution, "It's the exact same outcome without your repercussions."
"You're creating a primitive potion."
"An age-appropriate one," She countered.
Rarely did she back down from his scowl. It became easier once she began tutoring the children that sought out her help, too afraid to approach the Slytherin. Rather, the Ravenclaw would use her personal time to make sure every student demonstrated the skills needed in order to face Snape yet again.
"Do you question my teaching methods?"
His eyes scanned her for honesty, eyes landed on the various patterns of ink that were collected on her skin. He realized now he'd never been able to make each image out as clearly as he could now.  Her appearance now reflected how most thought of her when she was first introduced by Dumbledore a handful of months prior; callous, harsh, and adversarial. Soon enough, the stigma around her ink-littered skin broke due to her true demeanor which showed nothing but warmth and virtue.
Severus wanted to be disappointed, but vexation filled him instead. Especially since his eyes lingered on the art that spread across the top of her chest, just below her collar bones that reflected a snake being tormented by an eagle.
How fitting, he thought.
"I never posed a question."
Severus paused for a moment, running through their conversation quickly, then posing a question of his own to cover his blunder, "Then what do you propose as a solution?"
---
The knock came before her question as she peered into Snape's office, "Now a bad time?"
Severus held his time alone dearly. It was the moment for reflection and for contemplation and making different concoctions was like his version of mediation. It was a safe haven that he rarely, if ever, shared with others.
Yet, as if knowing this, she entered after hearing silence as his response. She already went into talking, like she always had. She rambled on about something he hardly listened to as he continued on, but he stopped when he finally decided to glance up at her.
In her arms, she held various items all of which were clearly newly bought. There were vines hanging down to her waist while she balanced the spiced and dried goods. It was as if she'd come bearing gifts for him. He was quick to move and catch something that teetered on her forearm.
"Where did you find this?" He tried to hold back how impressed he was once he read the label of the opaque bottle. It was an expensive item, one that many would begrudgingly give away.
"Mr. Mulpepper's."
"That is a dark place." He frowned at the thought of her wandering Knockturn Alley. No doubt, she could protect herself, but she seemed to gravitate towards the mischief.
"They speak very highly of you there."
He hummed as he began to roll up his sleeves in preparation. It wasn't the first time Severus had heard or been told she spoke about him. His students were the first to whisper about it, wondering about the nature of the relationship besides the professional one they required all due to the rumors she spread.
They were kind comments, nothing explicit. She talked of his intelligence, but also his ridiculousness. It aided in humoring the students, but as the handful of weeks went on it became a usual conversation topic. It made Snape's skin prick.
Severus was methodical in the way he finely chopped each plant she had to offer, his earlier concoction entirely forgotten and put aside. He could make out now which potion she was attempting to amend. He wanted to replicate her idea to see how it worked for himself, but there was no seed of doubt.
She was the reason for the improvement in his classroom. There was less time spent on silent stares after he posed a question and actual answers, suggestions, and solutions. Her cleverness reflected her intelligence, but it made Snape feel as though she'd be better off suited next to him and his fellow Slytherins. But having her close like she was now was enough for him to realize that desire was purely selfish.
"This potion does not require you to stand so close," Snape's voice was low, betraying how it had actually felt to have company other than students.
"I'm simply observing."
Her stance was firm, peering over his shoulder and watching just how delicate he was with his movements.
"You don't need a book?" The question was rhetorical in a sense as she asked it. It was just a way to acknowledge how awestruck she was by his fluidness.
"No."
His responses were always simple, but they became more frequent which she valued. Although she wasn't sure if they could consider each other friends, she accepted the unorthodox progress they'd made. She never shied away from him, even at the start, but the progress helped her bold statements stick and her actions more spirited.
"May I?" She reached over another question that held no respect for a response.
Severus went to protest, but when he felt her fingers on his own take hold of the mortar and pestle, his words got caught in his throat. The world of witchcraft and wizardry was something Severus well understood, he needed to in order to exist and exceed within it. However, the feeling that traveled like a spark from his fingers to the pit in his chest couldn't be explained by the world around them.
"I heard you were chaperoning the Yule Ball," She started tentatively, hoping the two could carry a conversation longer than a few seconds.
"Correct."
He watched her every movement. He wanted to step in, and take over again as her eyes were on his as she measured by feeling. But as he was further learning she had an innate ability to pick things up. Just the other day Severus saw how the students invited her to a practice of quidditch and he noticed how it seemed like she was letting them win.
After a few rounds, though, students grew more confident and bold in their game, making her balance questionable. He told himself he wouldn't interfere, but it started to look dangerous. With the slight help of a spell he whispered, she hadn't landed as harshly as she was supposed to.
"I am as well," She gave him a soft smile that caused a quick swirl to appear in his chest, but it faded just as quickly when she added, "Lockhart invited me, told me how it's pointless to go without company.”
"You'd be better off going alone." It came out as a criticism, but it was meant as cordial advice.
Finally, though, he was able to hear her laugh directly. It was fleeting, more like a quick breath out the nose, but it was a laugh. His eyes broke from her tattoo covered hands to her face to see if there would be a remark otherwise.
"He's not all bad now, is he?" She joked lightly, the potion finally resembling a color the two recognized as correct, "He means well most of the time."
"I believe you are too kind to him."
"Perhaps." She mulled over the thought. She wasn't unfamiliar with the comment, it was one that followed her most of her life and offered her the most consequences.
However, Severus wasn't one to withhold his opinion. It was usually one that held validity.  Meaning now, as she poured the mixture into the small glasses she'd set aside, it was something she'd take into consideration.
As expected, there was just enough for the two professors that collaborated to make it. She wafted the scent, making sure it was adequate enough to ingest. Severus was still taking a moment to catch up to how quickly the blend had been made and now left only one option before him.
"Come on, then," She instructed as she held the dark compound for him to accept, "You're going to have to learn to trust me at some point."

Draco Malfoy and… the fatigue of doing things again.
Rating: Teen and Up Published: 2022-10-17 Completed: YES! Words: 31.881 Chapters: 16/16
HELLO!!!
This took longer than I wanted, it's full of mistakes, but... I'm kind of proud? Jesus… that's a lot for my usual stuff...
This from chapter Thirteen (13)! ------------
After hours, and carefully labeling each and every container, the sound of footsteps got their attention. They were fast paced but not erratic, short, like a child’s. Confirming his assumptions, Draco saw Granger bushy hair poking out of the corridor, closely followed by Weasley… odd she wasn’t wearing the hairpin…
“Is it safe? Are you two alright? Please say something, it's been hours!” Weasley yelled.
“It 's safe! You can come in, just… don’t touch anything AND it's pretty gross here, so… yeah, that.” Answered Potter, rather loudly.
Draco was hit by something odd when Granger and Weasley walked slowly up to them.
Suspicion.
He couldn’t pinpoint exactly why, but with lightning speed he pointed his wand against Weasley’s neck.
“What the hell, Malfoy!? What are you doing?” Potter yelled. Draco ignored him, and got pretty close to Weasley.
“Yeah! What is going on?” Asked Weasley, meekly.
Draco narrowed his eyes, and in a very odd move to anyone but him, he took a long hard inhalation right on Weasley’s neck.
He heard “Granger” gasp, and Weasley shiver, but like a surprise attack to his senses, one thing was clear to him.
This was not Ronald Weasley.
Draco was not sure, but he could have sworn he snarled the words. “Cut the crap, you are not Ronald.” Not-Weasley’s eyes got big as saucers. “You reek of polyjuice and leather, parchment and ink, didn’t you know that polyjuice cannot change someone’s scent? So…”  Draco willed the tip of his wand to heat up. “Who the hell are you? Better yet, who are you two? I’m not buying that whoever decided to mess up with Ronald, and take his place, did not take the opportunity to snag Hermione as well.”
He catched Potter on his peripheral, pointing his wand at not-Granger.
Could have been minutes, or merely seconds, but after some time not-Weasley dropped the act.
His posture stiffened, and his face relaxed to an almost impassioned glare. Draco could recognize it, even blind.
“Uncle Severus… What a surprise.”
“Seems to me that you aren’t surprised at all, Draco. ------------- A Little long, but I hope you like it!
See you in Frebruary, when I'll start posting book Three (3)!

pairing: best friend!mattheo x fem!reader
summary: after the chaos of hogwarts at the beginning of your seventh year, the stress gets to you, but there’s always someone to soften the blow.
warnings: nothing really, smoking i guess.
┊͙ ˘͈ᵕ˘͈
the hogwarts express is chugging on continuously, misting an opaque fog into atmosphere of the england countryside, much like the mellowness of the interior. every seat taken with students yet no dialouge shared and the bustling and laughing about future classes, professors and chocolate frogs a thing of the past. your head is lightly rested on the window, body pressed into the corner comfortingly and hands extended forward onto the table tightly. they’re cold. and mattheo’s hand, whom is sat in front of you, seperates them, putting his body in your presence and sharing his heat with you. simply because he wants to. his pointer finger moves towards the condensed glass, painting a small stick figure with a smiling face, and a flower next to it-which petals are already dripping downwards onto the damp surface. your glance moves from the glass and onto him, a hopeful expression on his face and lips spreading into a small, warm smile. “we’ll be fine.” he reassures quietly, only a quiet mumble so nobody else at the table hears, pansy humming peacefully asleep next to you and theo staring deep in thought somewhere, because it’s only for you. “i hope so.” your words are doubtful and you take in mattheo’s appearance. his dishevelled curling hair softly planting on his forehead, it slightly grew out over the summer, wearing a white long-sleeved top and the leather jacket you bought for him last winter in a small charity shop, thinking of him instantly-light purple hues highlighted under his eyes.
after professor snape was appointed headmaster, and the death of dumbledore a melancholiness has weighed upon the halls of hogwarts. students walking silently up the stairs and mattheo following behind you closely, your suitcase in one hand and his own in the other after insisting to take it-palm patting the top of your head endearingly while you sulk, “i don’t need your help.” he smiles. “i know you don’t.”
he waits patiently as you click open the door to your dorm, glancing at the strand of hair that you have tucked behind your ears, revealing your small star-shaped earrings and noticing the brownish lip gloss you wear every autumn, he’s missed you over summer. the kind of missing that is felt in the back of the stomach all the way down to your spine while doing everyday tasks, because it all reminds him of you. both suitcases thump loudly onto the wood panels when mattheo lets them go, and he slips his jacket off, throwing it limply onto the neatly made bed. he spins on the chair in the middle of your room, gliding his fingers across the random collection of trinkets on your desk, mostly random objects that hold dear memories for you. like an empty bottle of beer from the time all your friends got so drunk in the common room then got busted by mcgonagall in her red night gown with candle in hand, and had to run down the halls in the pitch black to escape. holding on tightly to mattheo’s shirt sleeve to keep up as all of you try to squeeze into a broom closet. or a random rock from a trip to the beach that mattheo had gifted to you after seeing you read a book about crystals, “i swear it has healing properties,” he tried to convince you, pressing it up against your forehead while you hold back a laugh, “do you feel it?” “no.”
“we’re meeting for breakfast right?” you ask quietly as his body darkens with shadow the further he walks down the hall, but his head still turns back to you, “of course. goodnight.” he reassures with a nod and you’re left to fall back onto your bed with a long sigh. with his presence gone the silence is too loud and you kick the black converse off your feet, bringing your legs up to your chest. your hand reaches down to a rough surface underneath your frame, pulling out mattheo’s jacket. he forgot it. with a small exhale in breath your hands burrow into the fabric lining inside it, spreading it out in front of your face and lips turning up into a smile. you could go out right now and chase mattheo to give it back to him, you can feel the box of cigarettes left in the front pocket, yet you still droop it over your torso, tucking it under your own arms and inhaling the lingering scent of his cologne. and somehow the warmth of mattheo’s body that not long ago filled it brings more comfort than the cushioned duvet beneath you, lulling you to sleep.
it doesn’t take long for the chattering at the long breakfast tables to return, pansy gossiping absent-mindedly and theodore shovelling granola into his mouth with a disdained look, dishes spread grandly everywhere but your plate remains empty. for no specific reason other than your eyes studying on a point on the back wall, allowing your own yarn of thoughts to unwind and your shoulders to slump further down-how are you supposed to act normal? wake up to the ringing sound of your alarm clock that’s on your nightstand, eat breakfast with your friends, go to lessons, study and then go to sleep to repeat it all when everyone is constantly under threat. snape unfairly ruling the school and the potential of death eaters crashing through the doors always looming and you’re supposed to just act normal? like you’re happy to be here when your survival is not guaranteed…mattheo’s hand pleasantly slips into yours, his glimmering eyes when you turn to him a grasping hand into your brain to relieve the anxiety. your fingers had been picking at a hang nail heedlessly, and his thumb smoothes over the blood that’s pooling at the edge of your finger from underneath the table. he’s usually the one coming to your dorm late in the night, bloodied nose and a bruised face after a fight with a pleading expression and he would be in your bathroom every time without a doubt. you would scold him harshly while tenderly pressing a wipe onto his face, moving the damp hair from his forehead with a soft swipe and he would stay silent-looking up solemnly at your concentrated expression. but ever since you’ve developed the habit of picking at your hangnails he’s taken it upon himself to grab your hand whenever he notices, always privately so others don’t see, as a small act to retaliate the care you endlessly provide for him. “eat.” he drones, picking up a piece of french toast loosely from his plate and placing it into yours. his body shuffles a little closer to yours for whatever reason, his shoulder connecting with yours warmly and you roll your eyes, “i was about to” you huff back to him, nudging your arm into his side and he tilts his head with a laugh, his hair grazing against your ear.
hours pass by hazily when you are staring at a textbook, tuning out the long talking of umbridge’s grating voice and mattheo’s studying eyes trying to get your attention, whispering your name lowly just so you can turn to see his smile from across the room. and after holding your tongue for hours you find yourself walking up the stairs to the astronomy tower for a break away from everything, sneaking out of your dorm in a pair of pyjamas and eyes already glossing with tears. the door creaks open and the sharp wind stings your cheeks. a familiar silhouette is leaned against the edge, smoke leaving a trail around him when he turns around. he says your name immediately, throwing the cigarette over the edge and taking a few steps towards you with brows furrowing upwards. you should’ve known you wouldn’t be able to be alone here, it’s been mattheo’s spot after second year when he claimed it his. but maybe in some way you yearned for him to be there like he always his, smoking, and approach you with a concerned look, placing his hands at your sides and asking you, “what’s wrong?” the words are stuck in your throat and the way his eyes widen at you, lowering himself to level his head with yours sends a tear rolling down your cheek. he whispers your name again. “i’m scared mattheo…” you admit quietly, “i’m always scared that he’s going to come and hurt us” your voice cracks and your breath hitches as mattheo’s grip tightens around your torso. his eyes glance away, chest becoming heavy in guilt. he knows he can’t do anything about it, and with voldemort being his father he can’t help but feel responsible for whatever reason. his helplessness warrants him to pull you into his body, wrapping both of his arms around your body so tightly he struggles to breathe himself, the blood flowing through his body expelling a heat he once again shares with you and only you. your face is pressed up against his chest where you sob into his shirt and his palm places at the back of your head softly, stroking your hair and pushing you closer into him. “i promise i won’t let anything happen to you” he reassures you, “i would die before you get hurt” he whispers into the thick air. he brings his head down to rest it in the crook of your neck, the lanterns hung on the wood pillars dimly illuminating the image of him silently curling around your frame with an endeaarance. he lifts his head hesitantly, bringing his face close to yours and planting a small kiss on your cheek.
you take a step away, straightening your back and furrowing your brows at him while his own expression drops, darting his eyes away from yours wearily. “im sorry.” he mumbles immediately and you continue to search for an answer in his demeanour. puzzled, you aren’t sure where this is coming from and why you fight the urge to ask him to do it again. a small murmur of his name escapes your mouth, moving your face closer to his again and tilting your head upwards to connect your lips for the second time, slowly moving to feel the ridges of them and the softness in the way he moves his jaw forwards to encapsulate your presence. you hum lowly, left hand driving up to cup his cheek while his own takes your right, closing in around it and dulcifying around your cuticles at your fidgeting wounds. the tears that roll down your face slip into the kiss and he tastes the saltiness, pulling away with regret and exhaling a high breath. “i don’t want to kiss you like this”
he runs a hand through his hair in stress, he hopes that you aren’t doing it just to make yourself feel better and that the crumbling of a seven year friendship around you isn’t just because he let a stupid impulse takeover. honestly it feels like he had just taken advantage of you, letting you open up to him at your most vulnerable and turning it into something lewd. “how do you want to kiss me?” your voice is nasally from the lump in your throat, and you swallow harshly. mattheo’s eyebrow twitches up momentarily, turning away from you. “i want to kiss you when you’re happy,” he turns back to you to hold eye contact, “after we win a quidditch game and you run down from the stands, under a mistletoe…anything other than this” he puts out, breath quickening and he steps towards you desperately. all the warmth he has shared with you over the years burns within you, journeying up to your face as your eyes flicker all over his face. “i love you” he expresses, and his eyes widen as if he doesn’t realise what he just said. you exhale a quick breath, “i lo-” you want to leap forward and kiss him again, wrap your hands around his neck and let him know how much you really mean it.
“no. not like that” his fists ball up tightly, “i love you. not in a friend way.” his knuckles are turning white from how hard hes clasping around himself, face softening when meeting with your open mouth, wide eyes and glistening pupils that are dilated so purely he could look at his own face.
“i love you too mattheo, not in a friend way.” it spills out of you, like the smashing of a piggy bank after years of building it up. “you do?”

Like a reflex, your eyes shoot open as the first water droplet hits the window. You glance at the glow-in-the-dark arms of the clock on your nightstand. 2:41 it reads.
With your pillow under your arm, you paddle across the hallway, towards the end. You don't knock when you enter the bedroom and you can easily navigate around the furniture in the dark. Siding under the covers, you fluff up your pillow before pressing your face against Theo's back.
He hums, turning towards you and draping an arm over your middle. "What are you doing here?" His voice is low and drowsy.
You burrow yourself further into his embrace. "It's going to storm", is your simple answer. A sleepy laugh rumbles through his chest. It's the same answer you always give when you curl up next to him.
Because the truth is, despite being engaged to each other, you're not allowed to sleep in the same bed. They want little pure-blood Heirs of Slytherin running around, but not out of wedlock.
Nonetheless, the two of you entangle your limbs and sleep almost every night together.
And nobody says anything about it. They don't dare to. Somehow, you've instilled fear in the Dark Lord's followers by just existing. The one good thing about it is that they leave you alone.
"There's another meeting today." You tuck your hands under your face and look at the dark-haired boy next to you. "Wormtail was sent to kidnap someone today. I've heard their screams when walking around the Manor."
A shiver runs down your spine. Theo says nothing, he tugs you on top of him and wraps both his arms protectively around you. "We have to be careful. Of everything we do", he whispers, his voice wavering.
You say nothing, rubbing your cheek against his chest like a cat. The two of you stay like this for hours until the sun shines through the windows and gives your face a golden glow.
Theo caresses your chin and cheek, tracing over the scar left behind by the Boy Who Lived. You turn your face away so he's no longer touching it. But Theo takes hold of your chin, forcing your face towards him. He tries to meet your eyes, but you keep them downcast.
"Listen... listen to me. Your pretty face and I are going to survive this. Do you understand me? And every scar, wound, or other injury, we're going to wear them with pride. Because we're survivors."
He gives you a look that tells you he's not messing around. A small smile blooms on your face, making Theo smile in return.

The mood at the table is tense. If it was not for the floating Hogwarts teacher, then is it for the fact that Snape is late and the Dark Lord is losing his patience. When the said man finally arrives, he takes place on the left side of the Dark Lord, his blank eyes meeting yours.
"You bring news, I trust."
"It will happen Saturday next at nightfall."
"I've heard differently, my Lord." Everybody's heads are turned to the other side. "Dawlish, the Auror let it slip that the Potter boy will not be moved until the 30th of this month", Yaxley goes on, his hands clasped together. "The day before he turns seventeen."
Your eyes flicker to Theodore, who's between Yaxley and Nott Sr. Theo's eyes are focused on the blond man next to him.
"This is a false trail", interjects Snape, "The Auror Office no longer plays any part in the protection of Harry Potter." Snape turns towards the Dark Lord, "those closest to him believe we have infiltrated the Ministry."
A Death Eater pipes up. "Well, they've got that right haven't they?" A laugh rumbles through the room.
"What say you, Pius?"
The Imperiused man on the other side of the table focuses his glassy eyes to the best of his ability towards the Dark Lord. "One hears many things, my Lord. Whether the truth is among them is not clear."
The Dark Lord lets out a chuckle. "Spoken like a true politician. You will, I think, proven most useful, Pius." His attention flickers back to Snape. "Where will he be taken, the boy?"
You zone out. It's what you have noticed is most effective for keeping sane during all those meetings. You get pulled out of your trance for a moment as the kidnapped 'guest' in the cellar lets out a yell. But it's not until you feel the Dark Lord's hand trail over your shoulder that you pay attention again.
He stops next to Lucius, holding his hand out for him. "My Lord?", squeaks the blond man.
Voldemort mocks your uncle. He reaches his hand out, "I require your wand." Once he receives the wand, he snaps the ridiculous snake head off and throws it on the table.
He points the wand at the floating teacher, bringing her to a stop over the table. "For those of you who do not know, we are joined today by Miss Charity Burbage who, until recently, taught at Hogwarts. Her speciality was Muggle Studies."
You look in fear as the Death Eaters around you laugh mockingly. you know Professor Burbage, very well in fact. Muggle Studies was one of the ways you defied your family's ways.
"It is Miss Burbage's belief that Muggles... are not so different from us. She would, given her way, have us mate with them."
His speech falls on deaf ears. Your breathing has picked up as you look with big, scared eyes at your Professor. One of your most beloved professors. Her face is morphed in pain as her body is contorted in strange ways. Your bottom lip trembles as she locks eyes with you before moving on to Snape.
You can see her lips move, begging for her life, but the words don't register. With a quick green flash, her dead corpse falls on the table. Professor Burbuga's lifeless eyes stare at you, a tear rolling out of her eye.
"Nagini... dinner."
The snake slithers up the table, through your legs. Everybody pulls their hands away from the table as she makes her way towards the teacher. She opens her jaws and pounces upon the body, ripping her to shreds.
"Young mister Nott."
Your head snaps from the Dark Lord to the now pale-as-a-sheet Theo. He gives you a look before focussing on the man at the head of the table. "Y... yes, my Lord?"
The Dark Lord has a small sadistic smile on his face. "You are expected to join us, next Saturday in the capture of Harry Potter."
Theodore swallows. "Of course, my Lord. It will be an honour."
"Am I also to join?", you ask, finding your voice.
But the Dark Lord shakes his head. "No, my Heir. I have a far more important task for you."

Teachers Pet- chapter 69: Nights

All Chapters
Chapter 68
I had fallen asleep at some point on the dingy beds provided, Harry and I had been up all night trying to find a way to get out, but with no hope left we gave up. We were awoken by a loud banging on the door, both of us jumping up quickly. The door opened and a masked man tossed two trays in and then shut the door right after, Harry soon got up walking over to grab them.
He handed me one and I thanked him. It was a couple slices of sausage and a cheese sandwich along with a glass of pumpkin juice. Harry began devouring his, clearly starving but I stared down at my food, feeling nauseous and lightheaded. I got up and went to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror at my pitiful appearance, frizzy hair stuck to my sweaty face, I was pale as a ghost with dark circles under my eyes. I lifted up my shirt and l let out a sigh looking up and away from the sight, the torn material was completely soaked in blood. Unwrapping it I held in a loud cry at the pain. The blood running down my torso and seeping into my pants. The cuts were not clotting and there was double the amount i'd fallen asleep with. I had never seen this before and panicked a bit on the inside, I didnt want to scare Harry and figured there was nothing he could do. I re wrapped them up wincing once again at the freezing pain of tying it off.
A few hours later and the familiar masked men came to fetch us both. We followed them down the halls this time and they brought us to what looked like a dining room, a table and chairs sat there with Voldemort at the head. "Please sit down." he said and Harry and I abided sitting down slowly. "I think before we make any major decisions, we do a little test to see what you two need to work on before we launch our attack." he grinned proud of himself for his little plan. "No I already told you, Im not helping you." I stated back and Harry just nodded in agreement. "And I told you, you had no choice. You can fight me on it and look just like your friend here, or you can just accept the inevitable." he sneered and I scoffed at him, "Beat me up all you want, ill kill you before you get the chance to use me as a weapon." he didn't like this comment at all and his eyes flickered, "What do you think you were made for? You are my weapon, and like it or not you both are at my disposal." I glared at him, refraining from trying to fight with the powerful man. I could press the limits since we both knew he couldn't kill me if he had hopes of using me in the war that was to come. He dismissed us saying he was doing us a favour by giving us a couple days to get used to our new residence before testing and training was to begin.
We spent the next couple of days here, I lost track of the days, but surely it was Sunday or Monday, time for everyone to be back at the school. And Harry and I grew worried. I worried for Severus everyday, knowing he was beating himself up somewhere, not being able to locate me and staying up forever until he did. I was only getting worse, not sure how I hadn't passed out yet. With each day, more cuts appeared on my torso and chest, bleeding endlessly. I think the only thing that kept me from bleeding out was the shirt I tied around me and my sister's power coursing through my veins. The curse had brought many abilities and no doubt it was the glue keeping my fragile heart beating
Snape POV
Severus was definitely a wreck, hair a mess, skin pale as ever as he wandered aimlessly looking for you, never stopping. No one had expected it would take this long to search for you. Albus grew more worrisome about the things Voldemort would awaken in you. Severus disliked the group he was searching with but had grown a tolerance for Hermione. She seemed to be the only one as dedicated to finding you both. Sure Remus and Sirius were searching just as hard, but they took time to rest along with Ron, but Hermione powered through that, never stopping for a breath. "Look up there!" Hermione shouted and the rest of the group watched the metal blue ball zip through the air towards them, "They found it!" Ron said smiling and they all apparated quickly to the location. 'Finally' Severus thought, feeling the weight lift a little bit off his back, but he wasn't going to be at peace until he saw you safe and sound. They approached the land meeting with the other members of the order. It was a big stone building along the cliffs by the shore. Severus had only been to this area a few times over the years but could see why it took so long to find, a shimmering barrier could be seen around it, no doubt a spell to keep others out. "Whats the plan?" Hermione asked and Severus stood thinking for a moment. "Everyone stay put, Lupin and Black will come with me." he said not waiting for a confirmation before heading over to the side of the building. The night was on their side, the dark concealing them from first glances. As much as Severus despised the two men, they were talented enough and cared about Harry and you enough to give you two the best chance at success.
Y/n POV
I layed there looking up at the ceiling, contemplating everything I'd done up until this moment. I was so tired but not just from exhaustion, the gashes on my stomach had spread to my chest and now made their way around me, bleeding endlessly. "Y/n look!" I heard Harry whisper loudly and I sluggishly, using all my energy, sat up. I got up faster when I saw what it was. A patronus. The blue light shining from it and casting onto everything in the room. It was a large black dog and I looked over at Harry. "Its Sirius Blacks patronus!" he quipped excitedly and I examined it as it ran around and out of the room through the wall. "A-are you sure?" I asked in a tired voice, and he nodded quickly. "Looks like the dark lord is going to have to find other kids to beat up." he said as he readied himself for a fight. "How are they going to get through all the guards?" I asked, clutching my side and walking to the door. "I'm not sure but I know they can do it." he said staying positive.
Snape POV
"Wait Severus," Sirius held the man's arm back and Snape gave him a glare, "You shouldn't come in, your position will be compromised." Sirius stated and Remus nodded along. Severus had been so worried about getting to you he'd forgotten about not being able to be the one to actually save you. He wanted nothing more than to argue with the two men, but he knew, bottom line, they were right. "Just wait back at the Grimmauld. We will apparate straight there once we get them." Remus suggested and Severus looked over at the man hesitantly. "I wont let anything happen to her." Remus reassured him and the tall dark man questioned his sentence, reading the mans mind he kept his shock hidden at the fact Remus knew a bit about you and him. But time was of the essence so he reluctantly made his way back to the rest of the Order.
"You two come with me." He pointed at Ron and Hermione, "where?" the smart girl asked before budging, "Back to Blacks house." Ron nodded, walking over to Snape, "No I'm going to stay and help." Hermione stated and Severus shook his head, "Hogwash, come on." the man drawled out in his strict deep tone. "No." she said apparating across the hill down next to Remus and Sirius, Severus watched as they argued with the girl as well but they gave in much quicker, Ron gave a sympathetic look to Severus and made his way down the hill to his girlfriend's side. Severus huffed watching as the four coincided about their plan. This was the worst thing imaginable to the gloomy angry many. The only one smart enough to handle something like this and he couldn't do it.
Y/n POV
Harry and I stood ready at the door, soon we heard a thud, looking at each other we waited. Hearing a few grunts and zaps from the other side of the door. "That's gotta be them." Harry chirped up and I nodded standing back from the large wooden door that rattled with the sound of someone being thrown against it. "How on earth are we supposed to find out which room they are in?" I could hear a muffled Hermione ask, Harry and I both jumped to the door, banging on it and yelling. "IN HERE IT'S US!" I yelled as we continued to knock on it hard with closed fists. "WE ARE IN HERE!" I yelled and soon I heard a zap hit the door. It opened up and I was met with a very relieved Remus and Hermione, both of them running up to hug Harry and I. "Are you two alright?" Remus asked, cupping our faces and giving us a quick glance over. We both nodded and we heard Ron call out, "Guyssss!" We all looked out and saw a group of death eaters ready to stop us from leaving. I felt the room spin a bit as I moved quickly and pulled out my wand. All of the sudden spells were being cast out left and right, flashes coming from all around. We were all backs together fighting off the surrounding Death eaters. "Cruico!" I heard Sirius yell swiftly pointing his wand and hitting one of the Death eaters, he fell to the ground moaning in pain from the curse. That was one down I thought as we deflected spells coming towards us. I felt so weak but I fought through it not wanting to shut my heavy eyes until I was out of these godforsaken walls.

taglist: let me know if you’re interested in being added!
The class had gone by rather quickly, my mind quickly diving into the work at hand. I very easily learned how to hold my wand and use it from Professor Flitwick. Not that it was relevant to the nonverbal spells we’d be learning, but he was kind enough to teach me regardless.
It was easy to talk to Flitwick considering he seemed to have an unquellable interest in the muggle world. He wanted to know what it was like to be unaware of magic for so long. I wasn’t sure if it was common knowledge among all my professors that I was an absolutely green witch, but I was glad I didn’t have to explain.
Instead, I was free to banter with him, speaking of food and music and dastardly chores from back home. He seemed particularly interested in music and we dove down a path of pop and the multitude of different artists that existed in the muggle world.
It was nice to get lost in that little world for a while before the clock chimed again, signalling for students to head to the dining hall.
At least this time, I’d be able to follow anyone here to the Great Hall and wouldn’t have to rely on… I stopped myself. I attempted to gloss over the way here in my head, deciding it was something to think about later. Or never.
Arriving, I was a bit bothered I didn’t see Cho anywhere. Nor could my eyes seek out a fizzly blonde with weird glasses perched atop her head. I only had seconds left before the bodies strolling by me would thin out and I’d be left alone and pitiful looking.
As if noticing my predicament, I recognized a voice calling my name. My eyes darted to the source and released a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. It was Harry. He was seated across from Ron, who sat next to a brown-haired girl I recognized as his partner from Potions.
I steadily walked over, finding a space next to Harry. The girl was nose deep in a book, leading me to double check the color of her school tie. How interesting.
Harry noticed my curiosity towards her and let a small laugh escape him.
“That’s Hermione. It’s a wonder she isn’t in your house.”
Her head darted up, glaring at him. She picked food off of her plate and took a few bites before responding.
“No it’s not, you’re just being rude.” She stated plainly.
She couldn’t help a smile from crossing her face as she rolled her eyes, finally looking over at me. She sat her book down in her lap and stretched her hand across the table to shake mine.
“Hermione Granger. Pleasure to meet you.”
I took her hand, feeling ease wash over me. She seemed sweet and genuine, the same as the two other Gryffindor’s I’d met so far. Maybe this house was tolerable. Or at least, she was.
“Eris Woodwork. The pleasure’s mine.” I managed, trying to copy the same warmth they had when they talked to people.
I heard Ron stifle a laugh and both Hermione and I turned questioningly. Harry seemed equally as amused, his elbows propped on the table with a fork paused in his hand as he turned to Ron.
“It’s… It’s like she’s multiplying! Blimey mate, it’s a bookworm invasion!” He exclaimed, a mock grief painting his face. Hermione elbowed him again as Harry pressed his knuckles against his own lips, hiding a smile.
She looked back down at her book and a half-smile ghosted her face.
“If you keep mucking about, your food will turn cold.” She spoke matter-of-factly.
I watched Ron’s eyes widen and his mouth open and close like a fish before he nodded and began digging into his plate like no tomorrow. It was quite an odd sight and I found it hard to tear my eyes away until Harry spoke.
“So Eris, are you enjoying Hogwarts so far? Sorry if Ron and I distracted you in Potions. I swear it won’t happen again.” His last note was tinged with a bit of shame and I met his eyes. I wasn’t expecting an apology but it was rather pleasant.
“It’s fine, really-”
Ron cut me off with his mouth full of food, his words muffled by what looked like mashed potatoes.
“It’sf…” He paused and chewed, shoveling more food in his mouth. “...all tha’ bloody nonce Malfoy’s fault,” was all I understood as he griped, the rest more nonsense than the first part. I felt myself visibly stiffen at the name.
Hermione exasperatedly slammed her book closed and pursed her lips, turning to Ron.
“No one can understand a bloody word from your mouth, you’re the nonce.”
He turned to her and pointed a finger at her, swallowing his latest bite.
“You understood the word nonce!”
She pinched the bridge of her nose and they bickered back and forth long enough for me to tune it into the rest of the Hall’s loud conversations. I began to zone out as I ate and Harry turned to face me in his seat in an attempt to continue the conversation Ron had cut through.
“Sorry again, he’s a bit loud.” He shrugged.
I nodded. I could tell that at least. I decided to pick through what I should tell him without saying too much. Finally, I decided to just remark on the school.
“I love it here so far, the school itself is just gorgeous.” I felt like a bit ingenuine choosing that reply, but thankfully Harry hadn’t noticed.
“Oh yeah, it really is.” He seemed to glance up at the windows and scan his eyes over the tables, his eyes halting harshly in one spot. I followed his gaze and my limbs locked.
He was staring directly at a particular blond-haired boy, who was laughing and smirking across the hall as if he’d just done the most dastardly thing. I could see a glint of hostility in Harry’s eyes and almost as if he felt the glare, Malfoy looked up.
His eyes met Harry’s and I could swear I felt immediate unease just being next to the recipient of his leering. It looked like nothing short of a distraction could break their ogling deathmatch, so I gently tapped his shoulder.
“Harry?”
He head snapped back to me, a tension inside him visibly dissolving. Malfoy’s eyes met mine and I watched his lips press into a tight line.
I broke first, facing Harry. Shooting a short, questioning glance at me, he forked his food into his mouth.
“Yeah?” He answered
I shrugged, mirroring him and eating my food.
“Food’s good too.” I offered as my second observation, answering his question about my enjoyment of Hogwarts.
He nodded, agreeing.
Within the next couple minutes, he and Ron were conversing again as if nothing had happened. I didn’t move to include myself and I wasn’t mentioned again, but I was glad for that.
I was just satisfied I’d had somewhere to sit and eat.
After a bit, I noticed people finishing up. A few people left and I poked and prodded at bits left on my plate. Due to my unusually formatted schedule, I didn’t have another class today. I assumed this was to allow me to digest what I’d learned and possibly practice and catch up to the best of my abilities.
I moved to the side as I noticed the three I’d sat down with preparing to leave. I attempted to catch Hermione’s attention as she got up, as I’m sure she could answer a question dancing on my tongue.
“Hermione, you know where the library is, right? Any chance you could spot me some directions from here before you go?” I lifted out of my seat, pulling parchment out of my bag in case she needed to write it down or something rather. It’d be smart to have a damn map to my destinations.
Her eyes twinkled and she motioned for my paper, plucking a quill and sitting back down momentarily with it. She scribbled lines marking the halls and wrote lefts and rights, even labelling doors I’d pass to get there. She seemed to mark a couple other directions and I raised my eyebrows as I glanced around the dining hall. It took a bit longer than I’d expected.
Folding it in four and passing it back, she hesitated for a second.
“There’s a main library that Madam Pince oversees, but if you’d like somewhere more secluded… I added some other spots. But please, be careful. This school can be treacherous.”
I nodded, curious as to what she could have simultaneously added and needed to warn me about. She stood back up from her seat and waved goodbye, exiting. Ron had barely noticed and scrambled after her and Harry placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Sit with us any time. You’re welcome over here, alright?” He grinned, taking off in the same direction as his friends.
I maneuvered my legs to the other side of the table bench I’d eaten at, now facing outwards. I watched as people spilled out of the hall on their own time, my elbows pressing into my knees and my head resting in my hands. Some people still sat in conversation, but after a good five minutes, the clock tower chimed, bringing them to their feet.
I wasn’t going to stay behind in an empty dining hall, but I had to examine this map before I could leave. I turned back to face the table, smoothing the parchment out.
Christ, she got detailed with this, didn’t she? There were lines and labels leading me to the library and to Potions, which I was thankful for. There were other directions the lines branched out in and it was almost confusing.
The library, the ‘Room of Requirement’, and the ‘Dungeons’ were listed, detailed directions to all of them. My eyebrows shot up and I tried to keep an incredulous laugh down. Fucking dungeons? I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less from a castle.
I wasn’t sure which one scared me more. She had included a tidbit about how the Room of Requirement would appear and contain anything the person who needed it may require. I didn’t trust in my magical skills or intuition enough to wander to a magical room, but now she had intrigued me to go somewhere that wasn’t the normal library.
I noticed a shadow cast on the table as I analyzed the map and didn’t think much of it. Not until I remembered the Great Hall had mostly filed out and I should be alone. My breath hitched and I had to clear my throat to hide a cough.
The shadow spoke and I cringed at the voice, not wanting to turn around.
“If you’re headed to the dungeons, I hope something eats you down there.”
My nostrils flared. Normal library with Madam Pince it was, then. I folded the map and pretended to look for a book in my bag. Frustratingly, ignoring him didn’t make him leave.
What did he want? Why was he near me?
Giving up, I turned and tried my hardest not to look at his face. I was just going to try and leave to the stupid library. I started to stand and I watched as his hand came down on my right shoulder, pushing me back down to the seat.
I finally met his eyes. They weren’t smoldering like they had been earlier, but they were filled with something I didn’t recognize. His hand was stone on my shoulder.
“They’ve already got a mudblood in their pathetic little group. You’re not even in their house.” He spat. I wondered for a second if his hate for the three of them outweighed his hatred for me. If this was an insult or thickly disguised advice.
“I didn’t recognize anyone at the Ravenclaw table.” I muttered quietly, looking down at the floor. He removed his hand from my shoulder as if it burned him to touch me.
“I’d pity you if you weren’t a worm in the dirt, Woodwork.” His tone was unreadable.
I felt my shoulders slump. It was still the first day and I was already tired of these interactions.
“Yeah. Dirt on the floor, filthy mudblood, stain of a girl. I think I’ve got it pretty down pat. Thanks.” I sighed heavily, now able to stand.
I didn’t bother to check his face, walking out. Hermione’s directions carried me to the library with ease and I had to figure out to scrub yet another interaction out of my mind on the way there.
I’m at Hogwarts to study and learn magic.
Draco be damned.

You caught the brown headed boy walking with the crowd, even though Ced had the same look as hundreds of other boys in the school, you were always able to point him out, it was just pure instinct.
Rushing and shoving through the crowd while trying to catch up to Cedric, apologizing and saying excuses to people you pushed past, you successfully caught up to the Hufflepuff boy and you smacked him on the back of his head.
“Ow! What was that for?” He winced, rubbing the spot where you hit him.
“Arsehole! Where were you yesterday? You left me on the train! You didn’t even bother to wake me up!” You scolded him, talking to him as if you were his mother.
Merlin, you almost sounded like Mrs.Weasley when she sent a howler to Ron after he stole his fathers car.
“I just…was in a rush to get off, I wanted to get off before I would be stuck in a crowded line of students.”
“Really? Or is it that you wanted to get to Cho before anyone else did?” You accused, he began to trip over his words, he stuttered while trying to make up an excuse.
“Yes- no! Okay, maybe a bit of both. Why are you so bothered by it? Are you jealous?” He drew out the last word, teasing you.
“Because you left me alone on the train! Everyone was gone but Fred and George, I had to walk with them!” You shouted.
“Oh my Go- Are all your problems somehow connected to the twins? Is there some reason deep down inside why you hate them so much?” He retorted and shook his head.
“That doesn’t matter right now. Just next time, wake me up before you leave to go drool over a girl.” You hissed, walking faster to get ahead of him.
Tumblr media
Your frustration simmered down within the hour, then rose again the next class due to the twins' loud presence in your potions class.
They repeatedly tried to slip the wrong ingredients in your cauldron when you weren’t looking, thankfully you caught them every time and smacked their hands away or elbowed one of them in the side.
However, they successfully stole your grinding stick when you went to grab a weakened griffin claw. They bit back smiles when you came back, frantically moving around your supplies and looking under the table to see where it went.
You looked up, George was already grinding his claw, while Fred held up two grinder sticks in each hand. Moving his head to look at each one, pretending to analyze them. You tried to snatch your stick back from him, you weren’t quick enough. Fred flung his hand back, putting it out of reach.
“Give it back.” You commanded, your voice barely above a whisper, trying to prevent Snape from hearing you. Fred knew what you were saying, but he pretended not to. Mouthing “What?” after each time you repeated yourself. George joined in on the pestering, cupping a hand over his ear, leaning in slightly.
You were so close to drowning the both of them by shoving their heads into their cauldrons full of mixed liquids and powders.
“I would suggest you give Ms.Y/L/N her stick back, unless you want to be used as a test subject to see if your strengthening potion works correctly.” Professor Snape said flatly as he appeared because the twins, you saw as Fred tightened his lips together and let out a small huff of air, disappointed that he’d been caught, that his fun was interrupted.
“Apologies, my dear lady.” He placed the stick flat on the palm of his hand, bowing down as if he was a servant presenting a crown to a queen. A few students let out giggles, becoming quiet when Snape's head snapped in their direction.
You contemplated hitting him over the head with the heavy stone object before you snatched it from him, instead you angrily grinded the claw in your bowl into a fine powder. Even though Snape did you that small favor, freeing you from the twins' mischief. It still feels as if the professor wants you to suffer by placing you next to them.
“He's like a damn shadow, a bloody ghost.” Fred tried to whisper to George, only for Snape to smack him on the back of his head as he passed by, Fred let out a small grunt of pain, rubbing the back of his head. You tried to hide your smile.
Tumblr media
The twins hadn’t shown up to charms, which was the first good thing that happened today. But, you found out who the infamous Draco Malfoy was. A blonde slytherin who was an uptight little rich prick who bullied the Weasley family and Harry thought he was better than everyone else, and who was in ancient runes with you.
He sat in the desk in front of you, he was next to Pansy Parkinson, a girl in the same year and house as him, they obviously had a liking for each other. Constantly whispering in each other's ear and giggling, making fun of random kids in the room, complaining about the class, passing notes even though they were right next to each other. They just constantly flirted, it made you want to gag.
At one point during the class, Draco tried to impress the black haired girl next to him by answering a question Professor Babbling had asked about the translation of a certain word.
With his feet perched up on his desk, his arms crossed, back laid comfortably against the chair, he said his answer with the most prideful and cocky voice, only for it to be so far off from being correct.
“Good try! It actually means ‘invisible’, not ‘soup’. Feet off the desk please.” The professor said nicely, beginning to go more in depth and detail about the word.
You let out a small chuckle at Malfoys failed attempt, only for him and Pansy to turn around with a scowl.
“What are you laughing about? Shouldn’t you be trying to makeout with that Hufflepuff boy?” He sneered while you grimaced, being surprised how short tempered the third year was.
His insults were stopped when Babbling asked for both of your attention. Your hopes of today being a better day than yesterday were long gone.
Tumblr media
One of the only good things about today was that you had very little homework then usual, Snape assigned everyone to sketch a Chinese Chomping Cabbage and research the ingredients for it, the rest of your professors only encouraged you to study, which you were definitely going to pass on doing.
You chose to sit in the library and do your sketch for your homework. Your artistic abilities were not on your side today, you had to crumple up so many pieces of parchment after failing your sketches on them.
You’d finally been able to draw a normal looking cabbage instead of a lopsided one. You traced the pencil marks very carefully with black marker, you wanted yours to look neat and nicely done.
Once you were done tracing, you grabbed a green colored pencil from your pouch, coloring in the cabbage.
It didn’t take long, you only had a small section left to fill with green. Your work was interrupted by the chair next to you being pulled from the table and sat in by a redheaded boy.
“What’s going on?” He whispered, leaning over and sticking his neck out to see the progress of your drawing. You stopped the movement of your pencil, smacking it down on the table.
“I’m doing my work. Have you even done yours? Or at least started it?” You scoffed. He only smirked, reaching in a pocket on his robe and pulling out a folded piece of parchment, unfolding it, he proudly showed off his completed work. A deformed cabbage, scribbled lines, poorly erased lines, and sloppy coloring.
It was very obvious he put no effort into it, he probably did it in only three minutes. Less than three minutes.
“You call that a cabbage? It looks like a pile of green mush.” You scoffed.
“It’s potions, not art class.” He shrugged, grimacing. You only shook your head and rolled your eyes, one of your most used responses to anything he says.
You went back to filling in the final uncolored section of your drawing, Fred watched, his chin rested on his fist. It was kinda nice, him shutting up. This might’ve been the longest you’ve seen him be quiet for.
You could see in the corner of your eye that he had a hand in his robe, you assumed he was putting his drawing back in his pocket. What you didn’t assume was that he actually was taking out his wand, getting ready to mess with you.
“Colovaria” He uttered under his breath, with a flick of his wand, the pencil you were coloring your drawing with began to change from a soft green to a bright neon pink, ruining your drawing.
You stopped your coloring, leaning back a small bit as confusion filled your face, then it was covered with anger once you realized who was next to you, who had caused it.
Fred immediately looked away, trying to fight back a mischievous smile while pretending to look at a book he quickly pulled off the shelf. You gripped your bright pencil tightly.
“Are you serious? What is wrong with you?” You barked, yet your voice still quiet due to trying to not get in trouble in the library.
“Who? Me? What?” Fred played dumb, he pointed to himself, looking around the empty aisle, pretending he thought you were talking to someone else.
“Stop messing around, you know what. You messed up my goddamn drawing.” Your fist was clenched tightly around the pencil, knuckles turning white. “Why are you so immature?”
“Oh come on, it’s funny, you need to have a laugh once in a while.” He defended, this only made your anger bubble up more.
“It’s not funny, it’s my homework for a class I can’t afford to fail! And you’ve just fucked it up!” You shouted, your rage took over your care to respect the library's rules.
“Shhh! Quiet in the library!” He smiled. “Besides, you can always draw a new one.” That last sentence pushed you over the edge, your emotions took over. You stuck him right in the arm with the pencil that you had your hand squeezed around, the pencil Fred had messed with.
“Ow! The hell was that for?” He yelped, he began to look upset as well. He began to look and sound angry as well. You stood up, beginning to pile and gather your things together.
“Don’t mess with my shi-” You were cut off by a very unpleasant Madam Pince stomping into the aisle, staring you down.
“What is going on here?” Pince said sternly, her tone frustrated due to the noise.
“She stabbed me!” He exclaimed while rubbing his upper arm with one hand, pointing at you with the other. He looked like a small child snitching on their sibling.
“He started it! He messed up my drawing!” You defended yourself.
“I don’t have the time to listen to bickering over coloring pages. The both of you have caused an unnecessary scene here. Ten points deducted from Gryffindor. Now, I order you two to leave the library.” She pointed towards the exit.
“What? That’s not fair!” You stated, Fred and you looked at each other in shock.
“Ah, ah. You’d better get out before more points are taken, or if you want a temporary ban from entering here. Leave, now.” Pince gritted the last word through her teeth.
You tensed your jaw, aggressively shoving your things together and then storming off down the hallways, Fred following after you shortly.
“You’ve got some good strength, maybe you should be a beater in case me or George can’t play.” Fred called out behind you, you ignored him like you always tried to.
“I’m serious, if you stabbed me a little harder with that pencil, maybe I would be paying Madam Pompfrey a visit right now.” He commented, his loud voice echoing throughout the corridors. You spun around, facing towards him while walking backwards.
“Oh shut up, it probably didn’t even break open your precious skin.” You mocked him, then you turned back around, continuing to stomp through the hallway and up the stairs.
You hoped once you made it on one of the staircases, it would move and stop Fred from following you any longer, unfortunately, it did the opposite.
As soon as Fred began to walk up the staircase, you and him felt the push of it moving in a different direction.
“I bet it did with how rough you were, you could help me fix it. I reckon you know a good healing spell.” He pipped as he stood next to you on the stairs, you narrowed your eyes at him.
“Fix it yourself, I’m not helping you with anything.” You spat at him with a large amount of disgust, Fred opened his mouth to say something, however the stopping of the staircase cut him off quickly.
You decided to keep moving rather than waiting to hear what other nonsense he has to say.
“Ah, come on Y/N! I’ve seen you in charms, you’re good with your hands and surprisingly good at whipping up some spells.” The backhanded compliment made your blood boil more, maybe you should’ve jabbed him a little harder with that pencil in the library.
Tiny bits of relief were cooling your boiling blood once you noticed you were walking on the staircase that led you to the common room door.
You said the password as soon as you were in front of the fat lady, not having a single bit of care to hear her horrendous singing, you shoved yourself through the doorway as soon as she let the door begin to open.
Fred continued to loudly talk and tease you, trying to get another big reaction out of you. You whipped yourself towards him in the middle of the common room.
“You’re lucky I jabbed you in the arm and not the jugular.” That’s the last and only thing you seethed at him before stomping your feet up the stairs to the girls dormitory.
These past two days have been a fucking nightmare.
Fred only stood there, shocked and frustrated almost as much as you were. A tad bit of anger in his system as well.
You ripped off that stupid necklace the twins gave you, breaking the chain and throwing it on your side table.
Tumblr media
Four months had gone by and the school year had finally ended. Things had calmed down after those first two days back, especially after what happened with Fred and you in the library. He must’ve realized how upsetting they were to you, also a bit scared that you would curse or possibly physically harm him the next time he tried to mess with you. Yet, Fred seemed quite pissed at you for a while after that, he became a bit mean.
His face would drop anytime you’d walk by, he’d scowl at you, push past you. He’d give you the same behavior you’d give him. He stopped after a while, not allowing your presence to bother him, as his did to you.
At least him and George didn’t use you as their target student for pranks as much as they used to.
But, of course they had to end the year with a dramatic bang.
On the very last day, when everyone was packing and chatting before they left. Fred and George set off probably half-a-dozen dungbombs in the common room due to their end-of-year high spirits. You and Hermione were walking downstairs from the girls' dorm when it happened.
You saw those stupid mischievous grins on their faces as they threw the dungbombs and ran off, giggling like little girls while you and Hermione were coughing your lungs out.
Anyways, you stopped being mad at Cedric even though he still continued to chase after Cho, you were able to drag yourself through your classes, you attempted to apologize to Madam Pince, you dealt with the twins' mischief that would occasionally be towards you, you had to suffer through the flirting between Draco and Pansy and the insults they threw out at random people, and you were able to pass all your O.W.Ls.
You arrived onto the train with Cedric, finding a perfectly empty booth as soon as you entered the train.
You both settled in, throwing your bags on the seat, and pulling out your coins to see how much you had you could buy from the candy trolley that was soon to come by.
You slouched down in your booth, the bottom half of your body hanging off it.
“Good school year?” Cedric asked.
“It’s been a fucking headache.” You sighed heavily, he let out a small breath.
“Well, as an apology for constantly leaving you behind because I do admit, I was chasing after Cho,” he tucked his lips in and slightly bowed his head in shame. “I got you…a ticket to the Quidditch World Cup.” His embarrassed attitude changed into a prideful one while he flicked a ticket out his bag. Your attitude changed as well.
“No way! You’re lying!” You shouted as you sat up.
“The proof is right in front of your eyes.” He laughed and waved the special slip of paper in front of your face, you grabbed the ticket, looking at it intensely.
“My dad got us them, he’ll be taking us in August.” He took the ticket from your hand, you scowled at him in response. “I’m keeping this in a safe place, along with the rest. I don’t trust you to.” He chuckled as he put it back in his bag.
“Oh come on! I lost something you gave me one time! It was during first year!” You protested, he only shook his head in dismissal.
“That ‘something’ was my wand and you lost it.”
“I didn’t lose it! The twi-” You began to defend yourself, only for him to cut you off.
“The twins took it thinking it was yours, yeah I know.” He sighed after finishing your sentence.
“Exactly! So technically, it wasn’t my fault, it was the twins.” You smirked and tilted your head taunting him, yet he said the last two words at the same time as you while he rolled his eyes.
You laid down in your seat. Cedric did that face, the one where he’s thinking about saying something, or about to say something. He’s debating on saying it, because most likely it’ll be something you would probably disagree with or not like.
“You know…” He leaned in, placing his elbows on his knees and his hands clasped together.
Here he goes.
“I think underneath all that abyss of hate and anger towards the twins…there’s a bit of liking hidden for the Weasley twins. Especially Fred.” Your jaw dropped again, it dropped to the floor this time but with the most intense grimace.
“What?” You yelled in shock, probably loud enough for the kids in the other booths to hear,
“Absolutely not!” You scoffed, looking at him as if he had gone mad.
“Oh come on, you’re constantly talking about them, you have been since first year, you carry that necklace they gave you everyday, your friends with their family. Face it, there’s some love deep down inside.”
“Now that’s just assumptions. One, I'm not talking about them, I'm complaining. They’ve been annoying me since first year. Two, I wear the necklace ‘cause it looks quite nice on me and I like it, and just because I like it, doesn’t mean I like them. And three, my mum and dad are friends with them, I’m only friends with Ron. I wouldn’t even say friends, we’re more like…acquaintances.” You counted off your reasons in defense of his accusations.
Cedric let out a long, disappointed sigh, shaking his head and standing up.
“Denial is the first stage. Now excuse me, I have to use the bathroom.” Is all he said, sounding like he was telling you about the worst news possible and patting you on the shoulder, then leaving the booth.
However, he stuck his head back in, asking for a request. “Also, if the trolley lady comes by, get me a licorice wand? I’ll pay you back.” Then left actually this time.
You let out a dramatic huff, crossing your arms and staring at the ceiling of the train.
Deep down inside you like the twins? You like Fred and George Weasley? You like Fred Weasley? Oh piss off. Cedrics out of his mind if he thinks you could ever get along with those twins, let alone like them.
The twins have been the most agitating two boys you’ve ever met. You have no liking for them, not even the smallest amount. There’s only hate and despise left for them. You don’t think about them that much. You don’t talk about them that much. You don’t really complain about them that much. Right?
“Anything from the trolley dear?”

Six years ago is when you got sorted into a house by the sorting hat. You came from a family of muggles, which simply means that you do not have a family history of wizards. Even then, Hogwarts was nice enough to invite you in as a student of the school. It was a great honour for you to be accepted into Hogwarts for many muggle kids weren’t blessed with this opportunity. Your parents were both ex-students of Hogwarts where your mother was a Ravenclaw and your father was a Hufflepuff. As for you? You were a Gryffindor.
You believed that you had a mixture of your parent’s traits in you, which is why you were neither in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff but it’s okay. Words about Slytherin house and the students itself got to you before you joined the school. You were warned of their cunning, sly and potentially mean characteristics that you ought to stay away from.
During your first day of school is when you meet the one person who would linger in your life for a long time even though they’re someone you told yourself to stay away from right from day 1.
Lee Minho.
He was already making mean comments to other students who were in your batch on your first day. It only made you wonder how someone could be this insensitive.
“Who gave you that haircut? Your old muggle grandpa?” Minho said as he and his posey laughed at his remark about a boy with a round haircut. He seemed a little timid, simply staying quiet while he got mocked. You couldn’t stand this behaviour which results in you stepping forward and directing your words to Minho.
“Watch your mouth.”
Minho gave you a menacing smirk whilst eyeing you from head to toe, only to ask, “Look who’s talking… I’ve heard about you… Must be hard to watch your muggle parents die in front of your eyes, hmm?” He laughed along with his friends, making you frown.
“Keep my parents out of your filthy mouth.”
“Make me.”
Just when you were about to pounce at him, Professor McGonagall came to welcome and debrief you at the steps before she brought you into the Great Hall along with the others. That’s when you not only got sorted into Gryffindor house, but you also found out Minho’s name.
His name would be at the top of your enemies list, you just know it.
Tumblr media
You were now in your sixth year in Hogwarts. Your close friends were Changmin from Hufflepuff, Chan and Eunseo from Gryffindor. You were quite a social butterfly so you were friends with many of your classmates despite being in different houses. The only person you weren’t friends with was obviously Minho. It was nearly impossible to see the two of you go by a day without bickering at least once since year 1.
Today was no different. Defence Against the Dark Arts class had just ended with Snape tasking you with a 6 page essay on werewolves. You were just walking down the hallway with Changmin and Eunseo when a harsh shove to your shoulder made you stumble forwards.
How could you miss that strong cedarwood smell approaching from behind you a second ago?
A glare was thrown towards the person who had just crashed into you, witnessing the smirk on that familiar face. “Oh, sorry Y/N. Didn’t see you there.” Minho said as his friends laughed at you. They walked off like nothing happened, only for you to curse under your breath, “One of these days, I swear to god I’d throw him to buckbeak as bait.”
Your friends laughed at you for even thinking about that, telling you to just move on.
“I can never understand how you put up with him and it’s already been six years.” Changmin said, making you groan in annoyance.
“I don’t have a choice, do I? That moron just keeps appearing into my life like a goddamn leech.”
“I guess it suits him cause you know, he is a Lee anyway, get it?” Eunseo made a joke that was quite lame yet true at the same time.
“Good call.” You laughed at her joke, finding it funny.
You made it to the Great Hall for lunch, parting ways with Changmin since he was a Hufflepuff. Meanwhile, you and Eunseo went over to your friends at the Gryffindor table. The only downside today was that Slytherin’s table was right next to yours on the right side of the hall. You almost cursed your friends for sitting right behind Minho and his friends. Just before you reached the empty space next to Jisung, Minho turned to you since he was standing up.
“Are you sure you wanna sit there? Cause I might wanna talk to you every 5 minutes.” Minho teased you with a growing smirk on his face.
“I’ll just pretend you don’t exist then.” You flashed him an insincere smile before you proceeded to sit next to Jisung. You missed the way his smirk changed into a smile as he watched you sit down before he too did the same.
Dumbledore was making his speech, talking about the school values and a little history about the school for the new batch of students who had just joined you that day. You were quietly listening to him, hearing Kevin complain about how the speech is boring and dry as usual. Your hands were busy fiddling with the outer rim of your plate when a soft hit to the back of your head made you flinch.
The soft giggles behind you cleared your suspicions. You ignored it as you tilted your head slightly in annoyance. A few minutes later, it happened again. With a huff, you slowly craned your neck to look over your shoulder with the sharpest glare you could give, only to lock eyes with Minho who had a cheshire grin on his face.
“What?!” You mouthed to him since Dumbledore was still talking at the podium.
“Nothing. Just wanted to see your face.” Minho whispered without a single ounce of remorse. You turned back ahead, hanging your head low to try and keep your calm.
A few seconds later, another hit to the back of your head was felt. This time, instead of turning to look over your shoulder, you reached an arm over to pretend like you were scratching your head but actually, you gave him your middle finger. Laughter could be heard so you knew they saw it. Thankfully, after that last throw, he didn’t bother you anymore. After lunch, you had an hour of free time before your next muggle studies class.
Your friends wanted to sit around at the viaduct courtyard but you weren’t in the mood so you opted to go back to your common room. After parting ways with them outside the hall, you began to head towards the stairs that lead you to the changing stairways. Gryffindor common room was on the seventh floor so it would take you quite some time to reach there.
Nevertheless, you began to climb the stairs while reading your favourite novel from one of your local town’s bookstores back when you were living with your parents.
Time flies by without you realizing but you managed to head to your muggle studies classroom just maybe a few minutes late. Thankfully Professor Burbage was a lenient lady who simply gave you a smile before gesturing for you to join the class. As much as you wanted to sit next to Eunseo and Chanmi, Eunbi was already seated next to them.
The only seat that was left empty is on the other side of the classroom, next to Chanwoo and Moonbin, just diagonally above Minho.
Immediately, he was the first person you locked eyes with. Seeing the corner of his lips curve up into a smirk.
Nonetheless, you took a seat next to Chanwoo while Professor Burbage continued from where she left off. You paid attention as she explained about the topic you were covering this week and that was about how mating between muggles and purebloods were recommended so as to expand wizardry.
Of course, the minute that was said, some of those purebloods from Slytherin house began to scoff and make disapproving sounds.
“As if. That would just corrupt our perfect bloodline.” Jungwoo, a pureblood from Slytherin who happens to be Minho’s friend, said aloud. A series of laughs and agreements from the rest of their clan was heard.
“Oh, believe me Mr Kim… I’ve had some students in the past saying the exact same thing only for me to find out later that they found true love with fellow muggle borns. It is possible.” She said with a smile on her face, making Jungwoo and some others groan in disgust. Naturally, your eyes flicked over to the side. As if on cue, you caught Minho turning his head slightly as his eyes glanced past his shoulders.
He wasn’t looking at anyone in particular but you saw the way his eyes briefly glanced over to your feet before he turned back in front. Once class was dismissed, you packed your bags only for Chanwoo to ask you a question.
“Hey, are you heading anywhere after this?” Chanwoo and Moonbin were both Ravenclaws and you’ve spoken to them quite a number of times during your past few years of sharing classes. You just weren’t close to them like you were with Changmin, Eunseo, Juyeon and Kevin.
“I don’t think so. Why?” You said as the three of you began to walk down the steps together with everyone else.
“We’re going to the quidditch field to practice for fun. Wanna join us?”
“I don’t mind. I could use a little practice too actually. I’ll meet you guys at the quad then we can head there together?”
“Okay.” Chanwoo smiled at you, making you mimic his reaction.
You had just left the room and were just making your way down the spiral stairs, too lazy to catch up with your friends that were already a few flights down. Suddenly, you felt a soft brush of fingers to your right so you turned. Slightly surprised to see who it was.
“Going for quidditch practice, huh? Can I join?” Minho asked with a cheeky smile on his face.
“Uh, no?”
“Why not? We’re both seekers anyway.”
“Go practice with your own teammates.”
“They’re no fun… I wanna practice with you.” Minho said as you felt his hand brush over yours again. Completely by accident? You don’t know.
“Kiss up.” You whispered under your breath, only to snap your head at him when he spoke up.
“Kiss you? Gladly.” Minho smirked as he playfully leaned in to you. The first thing you did was place your hand on his face and pushed him away, hearing his cackle right after. You frowned at him but why was your heart pounding in your chest?
“Fuck off, Minho.” You said before rushing down the steps to catch up with Eunseo and Juyeon. Minho’s laugh was loud but it wasn’t obnoxious. In fact, it was sort of like a teasing laugh.
That left your stomach filled with awaken butterflies.
Tumblr media
It was a Saturday afternoon. You were all given permission to head down to Hogsmeade provided you got a parent or guardian to sign your permission slips. Since your parents were deceased, you managed to get your aunt to sign it. You gave the signed permission slip to Mr Filch before joining your friends in the crowd. Professor McGonagall reminded you all to be at your best behaviour when you are in town as you would be representing the school.
Once she gave you the green light to go about with your day, Mr Filch began to lead you to Hogsmeade. You were walking with Chan, Eunseo, Felix and Jisung when a familiar voice called for you. Upon turning your head, Minho smiled at you as you noticed he was walking a few feet behind you along with two of his close friends, Changbin and Hyunjin.
“I heard that muggles love to go to the shop called Zonko’s Joke shop cause you know… muggles are a joke?” Minho said with the most proudest smiles on his face. Changbin and Hyunjin snorted a laugh behind him.
“Please… the only joke around here is you.”
“Oh Y/N… You really are funny.” Minho said before he ruffled your hair. You grabbed his wrist to forcefully shove it away, clicking your tongue at him in sheer annoyance.
After a few more minutes of walking, you finally arrived at Hogsmeade, making sure to go separate ways from him.
You soon found yourself in Three Broomsticks Inn along with your four other friends. Chan went to order while you sat between Felix and Jisung. The next hour was spent chatting about dates and love interests that they had. Throughout the entire conversation, you kept quiet simply because you didn’t have anything much to say. Just then, Eunseo directed her words to you.
“Y/N, how about you? Do you have anyone you crush on at the moment? Maybe Chanwoo? I mean, he seems like he’s interested in you recently.” Eunseo said with a playful smirk, causing the rest of them to tease you.
The only problem is, your mind naturally thought of a name the minute she asked that question.
“Nah… Chanwoo is a nice guy but he’s just a friend to me.”
“That’s a bummer… What about the seeker from Ravenclaw, Jeon Jungkook? He’s quite a hunk, don’t you think?” Eunseo asked.
“He’s cute but he seems a little boastful sometimes.”
“You’re literally the most boring person I’ve ever met.” Jisung joked as you slapped his chest with the back of your hand softly. The poor boy grunts in pain before he scoots further from you with an apology. Just then, the doorbell chimed only to see Minho and his two friends enter the pub. A soft sigh left your lips, darting your eyes to the mug of butterbeer sitting right in front of you.
“You know, I’m actually starting to think he has a crush on you. He’s always in the same room as you.” Felix said, making you turn to him with a raise of an eyebrow.
“Who?”
“Lee Minho. Who else? Oh will you look at that? Perfect timing. He’s looking at us.” Felix announced only for Eunseo to speak up.
“I think you meant Y/N. He’s looking at Y/N.”
With that being said, you glanced up to find that your friends were right. Minho was indeed looking at your table, more specifically you. Though he never actually came over to disturb the shit out of you, the constant glances he threw your way every time you happened to look over cannot be counted with your fingers.
And every single time you locked eyes with him, a smile was always on his face and you weren’t sure if it was for his friends or for you. Either way, you opted for turning away before it became a staring contest.
Your curfew at Hogsmeade was about to end so the five of you got up to leave. As you were walking down the streets of Hogsmeade, you noticed a group of Slytherin students tormenting a poor year 1 girl just a few metres ahead of you. The closer you got, the clearer their words were.
“Go back to your parents, mudblood. You’re not welcomed in Hogwarts.” They said as they soon casted a rain cloud over the girl. She got drenched as she ran down the path with the cloud still hovering over her head.
You were the only muggle born amongst your four friends so obviously, this triggered you the most. With that being said, you took out your wand and casted the disarm spell to the boy who made that cloud appear. He growled as he turned to see who did it. When he saw you lower your wand, he glared at you.
“You’re gonna pay for that, mudblood.” He said as one of his friends was about to cast a spell on you but you managed to disarm him. Except you weren’t quick enough to block the other one.
“Stupefy!”
You felt a huge force throwing you back in the air, only to collide with the pebbled ground harshly. A sharp hiss left your lips as Eunseo and Jisung rushed over to you. They helped you up, making sure you weren’t injured but you were still pissed off.
Right when you were about to attack him back with a spell, someone had done it for you.
“Everte Statum!”
The boy was thrown back similar to how you did. You whipped your head around to find who did it. What surprised you was seeing Minho lowering his wand before his eyes met yours. He didn’t say anything but his gaze wasn’t a teasing one. Instead, he was frowning.
He soon walked past you before going over to the Slytherin boys and said something to them. All of you began to walk back to Hogwarts as though nothing happened but of course, someone from town must’ve informed the teachers at Hogwarts. Reason being the minute you arrived at the castle, Professor McGonagall was already calling for you, Minho, the Slytherin boy and the first year student into her office. The four of you stood in line with you being right next to Minho.
“I am very disappointed in all of you. I have clearly warned you all of the rules and regulations when you visit Hogsmeade town. This behaviour is simply unacceptable.” She announced as you gave the Slytherin boy a side glance, only to catch Minho looking over to you.
“Miss Yuna, I’m so sorry you had to experience this horrible treatment by your own classmate. I will make sure that this does not happen to you again. You are dismissed.” The girl timidly nodded before she left, only for Professor McGonagall to give the remaining 3 of you a slight glare.
“As for you three… You shall receive detention for not following the rules and regulations.” She said firmly but you didn’t think it was fair.
“But he’s the one being an asshole! I was just trying to help her.”
“Language Miss Y/N... But yes. He was. And you were. Yet, that does not give you the right to behave in such a manner.” You were going to retaliate back but you felt Minho grab your wrist and soon, she spoke up again.
“What you did was honourable… but rules are rules. You will receive punishment for your actions. I will get Mr Filch to take you to Hagrid’s tonight at 9pm. I want all of you to gather at the Grand Staircase by then. 50 points will be taken from each of you. You may go.” She said as the three of you soon left her office. The minute you were a few metres away from the office, you called for that guy.
“You’re a fucking asshole, you know that?”
“So what? Mudbloods like her shouldn’t be allowed in Hogwarts, much like you.” He spat.
“And purebloods, should? Just because you have wizardry running in your blood, doesn’t make you any better than muggles. Only pathetic purebloods like you don’t deserve a spot in Hogwarts.” You said, already an arms length away from the said boy.
He snarled at you, taking a step forward to close the gap with you. “What did you say?” His voice was deep, wanting to sound scary but you didn’t seem to falter.
“You heard me loud and clear.” You said.
Right when the boy was just about to lay hands on you, Minho stepped in to put a distance between you and the boy as he pressed a firm hand on the boy’s chest. “That’s enough, Taehyun. Minho said, his voice sounding intimidating to you as all you could see was his broad back. After the younger boy left, Minho turned to you with a frown. Neither of you said a word as you simply walked away and towards your common room.
A few hours later, you had already showered and changed into a sweater with loose pants and shoes along with your Gryffindor robe. You made your way to the Grand Staircase at 9pm, only to find Minho and Taehyun already standing there.
Not long after, Mr Filch came only to lead you to Hagrid’s cottage.
When you arrived, Hagrid came out with his dog. He dismissed Mr Filch by saying, “Thank you Filch, I can take it from here.” You watch quietly as Mr Filch walks back to the castle with his cat whilst Hagrid tells the three of you to follow him. Sheer panic began to engulf you when you realized you were heading to the forbidden forest.
“We’re going in there? I thought that students weren't allowed in the forest! We can’t go in there!” Taehyun said.
“Yes, you’re right. But students are forbidden to enter the forest without adult supervision. Since you were tasked to serve detention with me, you are indeed allowed to enter the forest. Now, come with me.” Hagrid said as you walked behind him while Minho was next to you and Taehyun was next to Hagrid.
The forest was eerily silent with random noises appearing from all directions every now and then. A few seconds later, Hagrid stopped walking and soon pointed to a puddle of silver liquid on the ground.
“See that? That’s unicorn blood, that is. I found one dead a few weeks ago. So… our job… is to find the poor beast. Taehyun, you come with me. Y/N, you go with Minho."
“Fine... Can we get Fang at least?”
“Alright, but just so you know… he’s a bloody coward.”
Right after, the dog whines at you, making you frown. The four of you part ways in pairs, leaving you and Minho to go deeper into the forest with Fang beside you. Minutes passed as you scoured the area to find the dead unicorn. You were walking in silence, eyes trying their best to see in the dark. Just then, a werewolf howl could be heard in the distance, catching you by surprise.
Naturally out of complete instinct, you reached out to grab hold of something nearest to you. In this case, it was Minho’s arm. He glanced down at you, his lips tugged into a small smile before he teased you.
“Scared already?”
“In case you haven’t noticed, we’re in the forbidden forest with no adult present and a cowardly dog that would literally be useless if we got into trouble. So yes, I am scared.” Minho laughs as he feels you let go of his arm.
“If it makes you feel any better, you can hold my hand. You know, so you remember that you’re not alone?” Minho smirked at you effortlessly. He soon held out his hand, allowing you to stare at it for a few good seconds. Contemplating on whether or not to hold it like he suggests.
Right when you were about to refuse his offer, another weird noise was heard in the distance, only for you to quickly lace fingers with his and hug his arm close to your chest.
“I swear this is torture at this point.” You whispered under your breath causing him to laugh.
“Wow. After six years, I finally got you to hold my hand. What a surprise.”
“This is just a one time thing, you buffoon. Don’t get used to it.”
“Why not? It feels nice, doesn’t it?” Minho asked as you looked at him to try and find his teasing eyes but instead, he softly looked at you with a smile tugging on his lips. A smile that seemed too genuine for it to be a teasing one. You couldn’t stand his eye contact any longer so you turned away from him. That’s when you saw something laying on the ground a few metres away.
“Minho, look.” You said as you pointed towards the left before you began to drag him over. When you made it closer, you found yourself staring at the dead unicorn’s body with a slight disgust prominent on your face.
“We should tell Hagrid.” Minho suggests as he took out his wand and pointed it to the sky.
“Periculum.”
You watched as red sparks shot up into the sky before it exploded and soon disintegrated into small specks. While waiting for Hagrid to come, you let go of Minho’s hand and slowly walked closer to the body. Without touching it, you inspected the injury, noticing a huge chunk of flesh had gotten ripped out of the unicorn’s neck.
“What do you think happened?” You asked.
“Probably another creature attacked it… I mean surely. This forest is literally the home to almost every creature in the wizarding world.”
You hummed in response, only to hear footsteps approaching and soon, both Hagrid and Taehyun appeared. After detention was over and Hagrid managed to bring you back to the castle safely, the three of you reentered the school grounds to head back to your common rooms.
While Taehyun had walked ahead of you, Minho stayed by your side as he even walked you to the changing stairway tower that was located at the other side of the building from where his common room was located.
“Aren’t you gonna head back?” You asked curiously.
“Why? I can’t walk with you for a little while more?”
“I-I just… wouldn’t want you to waste your time. It’s already late.”
“Don’t worry about me, Y/N. I do this all the time.” Minho confessed to him sneaking around the castle during late hours and potentially getting himself in trouble if you actually exposed him to either one of the professors in Hogwarts.
“Are you saying you want to get caught?”
“Caught for sneaking around the castle past curfew? No. But caught for walking you to your common room as a kind gesture? Maybe…” He smirked at you, earning a scoff from you. A small smile tugs on your lips, making him laugh.
“Are you trying to hit on me, Lee Minho?”
“That depends… Are you falling for it?”
“Never in a million years.”
“Are you sure about that?” Minho said as he grabbed your waist and pulled you back.
A soft gasp left your lips when you accidentally crashed into his chest with your hands pressed onto his chest out of instinct. Your face was inches away, feeling him snake his arm around you. Minho’s eyes flicked down your face innocently, making you nervous.
“W-What are you doing?” You stumbled over your words in a hush, not trusting your voice at the moment. Minho could only smile down at you, flicking your eyes back up to meet his.
“Nothing… Just wanted to tease you.” Minho said as he nudged his nose against yours and soon took a step back while letting go of you. “Well, goodnight Y/N. See you in class.” He gave you a wink before he turned to leave you standing there completely lost and confused.
Nevertheless, you rushed back to your common room with the image of Minho being that close to you, running through your mind the entire night.
One of these days, he’s gonna be the death of you and not in a bad way.
Tumblr media
The following days, Minho has been bipolar with you. Sometimes he would act sweet and kind towards you, then there are days where he would pick a fight with you or simply trigger you until you felt pissed off with him. Every time you would be nice to each other, students around you would think there’s something going on with you and him. Today was nothing short from the other days.
You were having your Herbology lesson where Professor Longbottom was teaching class. Herbology is one of your favourite subjects in school next to Defence Against the Dark Arts.
“As you all may be aware of, I have given you a short test about the different types of plants we grow here in the greenhouse, correct?” Professor Longbottom said, earning a series of head nods and yeses from everyone in the room.
“I have already marked your scripts and I will be returning them back to you after class.”
An hour later, he did exactly as he said he would. He distributed the papers one after another. However, when he gave you your script, he told you to help out later since he has an important meeting to attend to. So you being the model student you were, you accepted his offer to help out in the greenhouse during the extra tutorial. When the time finally comes, you make your way to the greenhouse only to find Professor Longbottom pacing around the room doing certain things at the same time.
“Good evening Professor! Is there something I could help you with?”
“Ah, Miss Y/N. Good evening. Thank you for coming. I’m sorry if I disrupted your day in any way, but will it be okay if you helped to conduct the extra tutorial today? I have an important meeting to attend in 5 minutes and the tutorial will start in 10 minutes. There’s only one student for the extra tutorial so I believe it will be fine.
“Oh, okay. What do you need me to do, Professor?”
“Go through the test scripts and explain the questions they got wrong. I trust that you can do it since you are in fact a star student in Herbology.” Professor Longbottom gave you a polite smile, making you giggle softly.
“Yes sir, Professor.” He laughed at your response. Ever since day 1, Professor Longbottom has been a very nice man to all of you. He was very humble and helpful that you could go to him if you ever had any questions about Herbology. Sometimes with other classes too, and personal problems. He wasn’t that old as compared to other Professors in school so you found it nice that he would sometimes treat you like a friend rather than a student and teacher.
So after he briefed you on what to do, he took his leave. You were now alone in the greenhouse. A few minutes later, you were just pouring the soil into the new pots when a familiar voice echoed in the greenhouse.
“Of all people I have to go through with this stupid tutorial, it just had to be you.”
Minho said as he walked through those doors with his hands tucked into his pants pockets. Minho was wearing his uniform minus the tie. Basically his pants, white button up shirt, green and dark grey sweater vest along with his Slytherin robe. He reached over to let his fingers glide over the row of pots on the table. Just when he was about to touch the purple flowers blooming in a pot, you stopped him immediately. He halts his movements as you scold him for being careless.
“Don’t touch that! That’s an Aconite, the leaves are very toxic and the flowers are poisonous.”
“That’s a what now?” He asked with a curious brow, making you scoff as you watched him lower his hand.
“An Aconite. If you had actually paid attention during class, you would’ve known not to touch those, you idiot.”
“And you know about every plant in this room?”
“I definitely know a shit ton more than you do so that’s good enough.”
“Kiss up.” Minho whispered under his breath, making you scowl.
“At least I’ll know which plants to avoid in the wild.” You said before you continued to pot the remaining plants. Minho joins you by your side while he looks at you planting the newly grown Fluxweed. You quickly finished up what you were doing before beginning to carry out the task you were informed to do. You spent the next one hour going through all the questions he got wrong and explaining to him the answers.
The first few minutes, you would bicker with him if he gets distracted or fools around while you were explaining but after a while, he actually listened to you quite attentively. You had about 10 minutes left before the tutorial ends so you decided to test him to see if he remembers what you taught him.
“What are two things that a Devil’s Snare can’t stand?” You asked as you watched his eyes darting over the plants desperately.
“Uh… Fuck… Oh! Light or Fire.”
“Name three plants that start with the letter B.”
“Baneberry. Bulrush. And… Balm.” He said. You took a small pot which grows a pretty, colourful tubular flower with a long and leafy stem with leaves on it.
“What is this?”
“A Foxglove.”
“It’s usage?”
“It is a highly poisonous plant, and is a key ingredient to make the Pompion Potion.”
“Name the two crucial plants needed to make the Polyjuice Potion.” You asked the minute you placed the pot down and turned your head to look at him.
“Knotgrass and Fluxweed picked at full moon.” Minho said as his eyes flew to yours, instantly flicking down south briefly before meeting yours again. You were honestly impressed that he managed to answer all of your questions easily without hesitation.
“I see my teachings actually paid off for once. That’s a good start.” You joked, earning a shrug from him.
“Maybe because I listen better when it’s you who teaches.” You diverted your eyes from his eyes, a little too panicky earning a soft chuckle from him. There was a brief pause as the room fell silent for a second or two.
“Looks like you’re ready for the retest. Good luck.” You soon glanced down at your wristwatch to find that the tutorial was over so you clasped your hands together to gain his attention.
“Well then, that’s it for the extra tutorial. You can leave.” You said as you walked off to go attend to some of the plants. That’s when you heard him ask softly behind you.
“Everyone should be in the Great Hall by now. Aren’t you coming too?” He asked but you simply kept your back to him.
“I will. I just have to finish cleaning up. You can go ahead first.”
“Are you sure? I mean, do you need some help?”
“Nope, I’m good. See you at dinner.” You turned to give him a smile, only to find him staring at you with the subtlest frown you’ve ever seen. When he didn’t seem too convinced with your reply, you let out a soft chuckle before speaking up more firmly this time.
“I’ll be fine, Minho. Just go.” You said again yet with another smile. With that being said, he finally nodded and soon left even though he was contemplating on staying behind.
You spent the next few minutes in the greenhouse doing exactly what you told him you were going to do before you headed straight to the Great Hall. When you arrived, Dumbledore was making his speech so he paused and gave you a brief nod. You rushed over to your friends who had left an empty space for you. Once you’ve seated down, Eunseo whispers next to you.
“Where were you? We didn’t see you in the common room after last period.”
“I had to go do something. Sorry about that.”
“Were you from the greenhouse too?” Jisung suddenly asks.
“Too?” You got confused now.
“We overheard Minho’s friends asking him where he was because he came in right when Dumbledore was going to make his speech. He told them he was in the greenhouse for his extra tutorial.” Jisung said.
Just then, you glanced past Jisung’s head that was seated right in front of you, only to lock eyes with Minho who happened to sit at the table right behind your friend and was perfectly in line with your sight. It looked like he had just looked over to your table as well because his head had turned during the exact same time you did. He had a blank facial expression at first but the minute he locked eyes with you, his expression changed.
Minho’s eyebrows relaxed as the corner of his lip began to tug upwards slightly almost as if he was forcing himself not to smile.
Upon seeing this, you glanced down to your plate to hide your face briefly and it worked. Because the minute you looked back up, he was already chatting with his friends. After dinner was over, everyone was dismissed and your house prefects were tasked to lead all of you back to your common rooms in an orderly manner.
You were just blending together with the crowd while talking to Chan about your final exams when you suddenly felt fingers brushing into your palm followed by a piece of paper being pushed into your hand. You turned to your side, surprised to see Minho there. He didn’t say a word as he simply gave you a wink and soon parted ways with you outside the Great Hall to follow the rest of his Slytherin housemates.
Nevertheless, you kept the paper in your robe pocket, making sure to open it when you’re alone.
The minute you entered your common room, you rushed up the spiral stairs to head to the girl’s dormitory. You made your way to your bed and sat on it with your back leaning against the wall to make sure no one peeked over your shoulder or anything.
Meet me at the clocktower at 11pm sharp. Try not to get caught by Mr Filch or Mrs Norris :) ~ LMH
You let out a soft sigh as you kept the note in your side drawer. A few hours later, you made sure everyone in the room was asleep before you snuck out. You successfully made it to the clocktower without being spotted or followed by any Professors, let alone Mr Filch. You waited by a pillar, just hoping you weren’t caught when a firm hand on your shoulder made you flinch harshly followed by a loud gasp.
With your hands naturally flying up to clasp your mouth, you were met with Minho who had the brightest smile on his face. He holds out a small bottle to you, making you ask what it was.
“Drink half of it and save it for later. It’s an invisibility potion. It wears off after 15 minutes.” He said, making you raise a brow at him curiously.
“Is this how you sneak around in school after hours?” You asked, seeing that prominent smirk appear on his handsome face.
“Clever girl. Bottoms up.” He cheered your bottle and soon both of you gulped down half of the liquid mixture. When you start to see the potion take effect, Minho soon grabs your hands and leads you out of the school grounds. That way, you wouldn’t be lost on where to go since you were holding his hand.
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll see."
“I wanna know now.”
“Jeez, impatient much?” Minho laughed, making you slap his arm. He ignored you as he led you deeper into the woods. Right when you had made it out of the dense forest, you finally realised where you were. You were at the shallow side of the Black Lake on the other side of the castle. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking to you especially at night. With how beautifully the moon shines down on you and the lake. The mountains upon mountains that lay far into the distance.
This would be the perfect place to run away to if you needed to clear your mind. You were so busy admiring the scenery that you didn’t even notice he was starting to strip off his clothes until he was just wearing his boxers. You panicked as you quickly covered your eyes with your hands, your voice going high pitched slightly from sheer panic.
“W-What in the name of Dumbledore do you think you’re doing?!”
“I can’t possibly enter the lake fully clothed, can I?” Minho laughed as he gently pulled your hands away from your face before he jogs towards the water. “Come on! Get in the water!” He beckons you over, submerging waist deep into the lake and soon plops himself down to fully let his body be surrounded by the water.
You contemplated stripping since no one has actually seen you half naked before. This was new to you as you would usually come prepared if your friends ever thought of swimming but it was a rare occasion. However, seeing how free Minho seemed to be swimming, it only pushed you to just do as he says.
Carefully, you began to pull your sweater over your head, leaving your black bra on. Hooking your thumbs underneath your sweatpant’s waistband, you pushed the material down your hips and legs, stepping out of them. You were now half naked for him to see, making you hug yourself protectively despite knowing he would never do anything bad to you.
You were only calf deep when Minho stopped whatever he was doing to give you a good look. He has never seen this much of your skin. He never knew what to expect.
Minho had always thought that he could never be close to you considering how much you hated each other during your first two years. But as the years flew by, both of you began to tone down a notch and your usual fights and banters ended up being playful comments, jokes and sometimes occasional flirts from his end. All of which, you seem to go along with it like it never bothered you one bit.
So to see you like this for the first time in six years, he was giddy. He was absolutely giddy. He could feel butterflies erupting in his stomach at this point.
You continued walking further down until you were chest deep. Minho stood just a few metres away at this point but you were scared to go to where he was. You didn’t want to drown in the dark water so you opted to play safe.
“This is as far as I can go.” You said, earning a soft chuckle from him.
“But that’s not even the best part. You can really feel yourself being in the open where I am.”
“I’m not about to volunteer myself to drown in this black lake, Minho. I can’t swim.”
“I won’t let you drown.” Minho said as he held out his hand to you but you stayed put. You were scared and he could see it. So when he swims up to you, he stops right in front of you.
“Do you trust me?” He asked.
Almost immediately, you nodded despite your mind telling you to say no. He smiled at you before you felt his arm snake around your waist underwater. You gasped softly before his other arm extended out to your side in preparation.
“Ready? Hold on to my shoulders.” You let out a soft whine as you obeyed his words nonetheless.
Soon enough, Minho began to swim backwards as you felt your feet slowly paddle behind you. After a few minutes of swimming, Minho finally stops to let his body fall perpendicular to the water surface. The moment your feet weren't touching any sort of ground, you began to panic as you desperately wrapped your arms around his shoulders while burying your face in his neck.
Minho laughs at you but still asks if you were okay. When he heard you whine, he laughed softly again.
“Will you try and let go of me?” He asked.
“Absolutely not! I’ll drown!”
“You won’t drown.”
“No!”
“Y/N…”
“No!” You whined against his neck, feeling his chest rumble against yours whenever he laughed. Just then, you felt one arm snake around your waist as something brushed over your calf. Sheer panic ran through your spine as a soft scream left your lips.
“Ah! What was that?! Something touched my leg!”
“That was me.”
“Fuck me, I’m going insane…” You cried in his ear but no actual tears were coming out. Minho didn’t expect to hear those first two words from you but nonetheless, it made him smile.
“Okay, how about this… I want you to pull away but keep your arms around my shoulders, can you do that?”
“I-I’ll try…”
“Good girl. Now try and slowly pull back.” He instructed you gently as you carefully did like he said. Once you manage to bring your face in front of him with your head hung low, Minho uses his other hand to tilt your chin up. When you locked eyes with him, he flashed you the sweetest smile and soon told you to look up.
You almost let go of him in awe when you saw just how bright and pretty the moon was hanging above your heads. It was beautiful. A soft ‘wow’ left your lips in a whisper while your eyes were fixed on the moon.
What you didn’t notice was how he never once let his eyes wander off your face.
Minho was still staring at you except maybe taking this chance to properly admire your features up close. He took his time to memorise every detail of your face like he would for his exams. The only thing is, he may or may not have lingered his gaze on your lips a little too long because when you glanced back down to say something to him, you had caught him staring at your lips. Both of you fell silent but you were the first one to break the ice.
“Minho?”
“H-Huh?” His eyes finally flew up to meet yours.
“Is… everything okay?”
“I-I… yeah…” He said merely in a whisper. You stared at him softly as you watched his eyes flick back down to your lips.
Just then, Minho consciously leans his head forward slightly until you feel his nose brush against the side of your nose. Your heart was racing in your chest while you kept one arm wrapped around his shoulder while the other hand slid up to lace your fingers into his hair soothingly.
Right before you could feel him graze his lips over yours teasingly, the sound of thunder rumbling through the sky made you pull away from shock.
“I think we should go. It’s getting late.” Minho said with a heavy heart but nevertheless, guided you safely back to shore. After you’ve worn back your clothes, both of you ran back to the castle before you got caught in the rain. You managed to drink the remaining half of the invisibility potion, leaving you unseen to the naked eye. Once you made it back to the castle, you didn’t properly say goodbye as Professor Snape was seen roaming the halls you had to head down.
You took a different route after squeezing his hand gently to say your goodbyes. Even though the goodbyes were inaudible and that shared moment at the lake was cut short, the thought of it never left your mind the entire night.
You just couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like if the thunder didn’t interrupt you.
Tumblr media
Ever since that night, both of you never knew how to acknowledge the situation without making things awkward. So you opted to just move on despite not actually moving on. Same goes for himself. It has been two weeks since that incident at the lake and you noticed how Minho rarely talked to you these days. A small part of you missed having conversations with him even if it was you two bickering. Now, he wouldn’t even talk to you unless he really had to for class purposes.
Today was no different. It was a Thursday morning and you were having Potions class where Professor Slughorn was teaching this semester.
“Now, class, today’s lesson will be about love potions. Over here, we have the most powerful love potion in the world. It’s called ‘Amortentia’. It’s made to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them. Now, Amortentia doesn’t create actual love as that would be impossible. But it does cause powerful infatuation or obsession. And for that reason alone, it is probably the most dangerous potion in this room.” He said as he closed the lid of the pot.
Soon enough, he instructs you to follow the book and use the recipe guides on how to create the potion. It took you two tries to brew the perfect potion which leaves Professor Slughorn to congratulate you on your successful attempt. However, before he scoops a small potion bottle full of the potion, he looks at you and asks with a smile.
“Tell me, Miss Y/N… What do you smell?” You stared at the pot in front of you before you tried to distinctly make out the scents.
“I smell… Sweat. Cherries. And...” You whispered that last scent only for Professor Slughorn to smile wider.
“Be careful with this potion. You do not want it to fall into the wrong hands.” He said, to which you nodded. However, as if on pure instinct, your eyes naturally flew over to the table across the room. Immediately, a familiar pair of eyes met yours.
Neither of you said or did anything so you were the first one to look away. Once class was dismissed, you saw Minho being the first to leave together with Jungwoo and two other Slytherin boys but you had no intention to chase after him anyway. You were halfway down the hallway when Changmin eagerly asked you what you smelled through the potion.
“It’s honestly a weird combination to be honest…”
“Really? What was it?”
“Sweat, cherries and... something. Like what even is that?”
“Hmm, maybe it’s not something but someone? Because for me, I smell strawberries, fresh sheets and roses which is what my girlfriend loves.” Kevin said, making you frown. This made you wonder as you made your way back to your common room. You knew something was off and so you had to find him.
A few hours passed, and you were having lunch in the Great Hall. You wouldn’t be having any class until an hour after lunch time ends. Some of your friends suggested hanging out at the quad but you already had a different plan in mind so you politely rejected them.
Minho on the other hand, was about the same as he too rejected his friends who asked if he wanted to go to the quidditch field and hangout there. He left the Great Hall and went straight towards the Slytherin tower. His mind was filled with you but he can’t bring himself to approach you for what he had in mind. So Minho starts strolling back to his common room with an empty mind.
After a few minutes of walking, he finally arrives inside the Slytherin’s common room. There wasn’t much he could do since he was nearly alone in the common room so he decided to head to his dorm room. Slytherin’s dorm room was slightly different from Gryffindor’s dorm room. Each student has their own small rooms which basically means they have their own privacy. Minho closed his room door quietly as he made his way to his bed and soon laid flat on it.
Few minutes later, he heard a soft rustle coming from across the room. He frowned as he whipped his head around thinking it was his pet cat.
“Dori?” He calls out softly only to receive silence in return. “Huh… That was weird.” Minho said as he got up to sit properly in bed with his back facing the wall. Right at that moment, a soft call of his name made him leap out of bed. He got a shock thinking it was one of the castle ghosts trying to scare him. The only thing was, the voice sounded very familiar to him.
“Hello? Who’s there?” Minho said as his eyes darted all around his room. He was halfway across the room, ready to bolt out when he saw flickers of a human figure starting to appear right by the door. He waited to see if his suspicions were true and it was.
Because the moment he saw your face start to lose its invisibility powers, he quickly ran to his door and locked it before turning to you with a frown.
“What in Filch’s name are you doing here?! Are you insane?” Minho asked in a loud whisper, clearly distraught.
“I needed to talk to you.”
“Can’t you wait till we’re in class?”
“This can’t wait.”
“And you thought sneaking into Slytherin’s common room was a good idea? What if someone saw you?”
“Nobody did. Don’t worry.” You said confidently. Minho stared at you quietly as he found this side of you attractive.
“So you’re suddenly okay with breaking the rules?” He asked, making you pout.
“I’m not proud of it, if that’s what you’re wondering.” You scoffed at him, earning a laugh from him. Minho stood in front of you about an arms length away. You were finally standing there in full flesh, potion effects had already worn off. His eyes began to travel down to scan you from head to toe as if he wanted to make sure you were physically here in his room. When his gaze finally found yours again, you took a while to regain your composure.
“Remember what we learned this morning during Potions class?” You asked.
“Yes?”
“What did you smell in the potion?” Your voice was hushed but it was loud enough for him to hear. You could see the way his eyes grew wide slightly for a brief second before he relaxed again.
“Earthy smell… Fresh soil… and… Roses.” He answered as he waited to see your response. But when you grew quiet, that’s when he asked, “What was yours?” Your eyes darted up to meet his, feeling like you were breaking out in cold sweat.
“I smelled… sweat, cherries and…” You paused as he stared at you in anticipation.
“And?”
You glanced down at your hands which were fiddling with your own fingers only to see him reach out to hold them in his hands. When he took a step closer and was now just a hand length away from you. Minho slips one hand around your waist to pull you closer until you naturally rest your hands on his torso. His other hand lets go of your hands only to reach up to gently hold your face.
You leaned into his touch, letting out a soft sigh while you did so. A small smile tugging on his lips as he leans in slightly to let his nose brush over yours.
“What was the last thing you smelled, Y/N?” His voice was so soft, it wasn’t the tone he has been using with you this entire six years of knowing him. Nevertheless, you slowly pulled back slightly to be able to look him in the eyes.
“Cedarwood.”
Immediately, his ears perked up upon hearing that. His favourite cologne scent was cedarwood and he would never go anywhere without spraying it on him. He brews the invisibility potion often and one of the key ingredients is cherries. Last but not least, he is a Seeker for Slytherin’s quidditch team which results in him sweating every time he plays the sport.
With this revelation and realization, Minho caressed your cheek with his thumb before he spoke up.
“Earthy smell because you’re a quidditch player. Fresh soil because you love Herbology. And roses because you often smelled like it.”
Your eyes were frantically darting back and forth between both of his eyes, unsure of what to say or do but he seemed to make your job easy. The minute he explained his theory, Minho spoke up again, “Do you like them?” He never specified a name of a person or an item but a person’s name did in fact pop into your mind the minute he asked you the question.
You nodded and so he continued, “You have a name in mind, don’t you?”
A soft nod was given as a response, only for him to answer, “I want you to say it aloud for me in the count of 3, can you do that?” You nodded yet again before he started to do a countdown.
“1… 2… 3.”
“You.”
Minho somehow knew what you were going to say, he just wasn’t prepared to hear it come out of your mouth. Nonetheless, he smiled at you as he caressed your cheek with his thumb and moved in to let his lips brush against yours. Minho wanted to ask you for permission but it seems like he was too impatient to wait a second longer so he pushed his head forward and the minute you locked lips, you felt like you were on cloud9.
Both of his hands made it to wrap themselves around your waist, cupping your sides easily in his hands. You glide your arms up his torso and to his chest, not to forget his shoulders and soon, his neck. He guided you to his bed while he carefully walked backwards. The minute he feels the back of his knees crashed into the side of his mattress, he plops onto his bed, pulling you down with him.
You ended up straddling his lap, cupping his head in your hands. He kissed you passionately without detaching his lips from yours for more than a second. His hands were now on your hips, gliding dangerously close to your rear. When he felt you pull back to breathe heavily, he took this as a sign to relax a bit.
Minho leans back in to let his lips brush over yours but never actually kissing you. He slides his hands up to rest them on your lower back while you play with his hair between your fingers. The room fell quiet as you closed your eyes, afraid to look at him.
“Can I tell you a secret?” He said softly.
“Mhm…”
Minho smiled as he kissed you sweetly for a few seconds before he pulled away and kept his lips right over yours so that you could feel his lips brushing yours when he spoke.
“I like you.” He whispered quietly to you. That’s when you finally opened your eyes to meet his own and saw how softly he was staring up at you. You gently caressed his cheeks with your thumbs, feeling him hug you closer to him only for you to smile.
“I like you too.” You said in response, earning a satisfied sound from him. He kissed you yet again. Maybe it’s not that bad to have feelings for your classmate who is someone you bicker a lot with yet have comfort in as well.
Looks like you’ve found the perfect guy to love and yet bicker with at the same time.
