#SHIPPING WAR
Text
the day you make peace with the fact that you don’t own your blorbo and there’re always going to be people who make theories / headcanons / analysis about them, or involve them in a ship, that you do not agree with, is the day you will truly enjoy being in a fandom.
no, you can’t make everybody agree with you. but you can curate your own fandom experiences by blocking / muting / not interacting with what you don’t want to see / what makes you uncomfortable / what triggers you / what you disagree with, instead of engaging in ‘calling out’ or ‘cancel culture’ — even if you believe their takes are ‘morally messed up’ — and, whether or not it’s your intention, taking part in furthering the toxicity in your own fandom.
no, people enjoying a piece of media however they want to enjoy isn’t what makes a fandom toxic. people who claim to have superior moral standards, who also attack and harass other people over a fictional movie or show or book, are what makes a fandom toxic.

You know.
I’ve been in a lot of fandoms that are full of shipping wars. But no discourse. I’m the Stanley parable Cause it 1 ship. Who are would they ship the curator nope she not worth it she’s got like no screen time. There nothing to fight about and it kinda nice cause like no shipping wars no one coming in saying nope
I love it

Why are Doctor/Rose fans against each other? I'm seeing this everywhere. I think there's a lot of defensiveness on all sides of this weird shipping war and what's super strange to me is that it's still about how the Doctor and Rose should be together, so... it just feels silly.
In canon, the Doctor and Rose are together in Pete's World. This is canon - there are no maybe-what-ifs about it; Rose chose to be with the human Doctor, because he's the Doctor who can grow old at the same time as her. This does not mean that they're just going to not be them, though. They're still doing the exact same things they did as Ten/Rose did, just not, y'know, in their original universe. If you want to argue that it's not the same because they can't travel - go outside sometime. See how big this planet is and then tell me they can't explore it. Tentoo is still the Doctor - that's canon, too. You can't just argue against that with opinions; it's literally canon that he's the Doctor, and it's a perfectly reasonable stance to ship Tentoo/Rose happily together, because that's literally the outcome of their romance.
But there's nothing wrong with wishing Rose got to stay with the original Doctor, either, because yeah - he's also the same person. Doctor/Rose = Nine/Rose, Ten/Rose, Tentoo/Rose, Eleven/Rose, Twelve/Rose, etc. etc. etc.
Folks, if you don't get this part, you aren't getting the point: the Doctor is the Doctor is the Doctor - it doesn't matter what body he's in. He's always going to be the same person. People can argue that Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, etc. aren't the same, but really all you're noting is that the show runner changed, the tone of the writing changed, and the Doctor moved on to other romances/companions. That doesn't mean he just forgot Rose. It also does not mean that he just magically fell out of love with her. That's ludicrous and goes against everything this show is about. Just look at every instance of any past companion being mentioned. Just look at how hard it is for Eleven to talk about her, hundreds of years later in his timeline.
It's hard to see the moving part on happen, especially as a Doctor/Rose shipper, but it has to. That's the point. That's why Tentoo/Rose is so valid; she's literally the only companion who does not have to be left behind, because he created this separate version of himself that gets to stay with her.
But seeing people upset that Tentoo exists is silly because how else would they have allowed them to stay together? It's a television show. They can't make Rose Tyler immortal and have the sci-fi adventure suddenly become a romance.
And Tentoo/Rose shippers who are upset with timepetals shippers is silly because good god, people, if this wasn't a television show, wouldn't you want them to stay together?
This became a bit of a ramble, but I just had to get this off my chest: we're all rooting for the same pairing here, so why are we being defensive about how that pairing should look?

Naruto ships
btw, my blog is a safe space for any naruto ship! My favs are SasuSaku, NaruHina, NejiTen, ShikaTema and InoSai but I accept other ships too and don’t want to be involved with any stupid ship war like whos better and what not. Just enjoy your ship and let the rest enjoy theirs too. You don’t like my thinking? Then pls don’t interact with me. I won’t discuss!

I keep hearing about shipping wars. Haven't run into any myself.
Even with the Monty x Bonnie v freddy x Bonnie v Monty x freddy I don't see fighting.
I just see them all doing their thing.
Maybe I just don't follow the drama people.
I play all sides give me pretty art and cool dynamics and if I don't like it I'll go eat somewhere else. But I am a little curious to see one unfold. I've heard so many stories.
I mean the last war I was in, was the Bronies during the latest r/place in the discord. I couldn't play but I made memes, I was there, and I even formed an alliance with another small faction.
It was stressful but so much fun!! And one of my memes even made it onto one of the brony streamers videos.
I wanna watch from the sidelines and nurse the soldiers on both sides and watch.

so in an attempt to actually use positive thinking, anytime i fuck up and my brain reacts as if ive cause a minor apocalyptic event, i compare my fuck up to the 4 minute fuck up committed by the crew of the uss william d porter.
and only today, as i was having to explain what happened to my mom when i was explaining the whole comparison thing, did i realise that most people dont know about it and ive decided that needs to change because its objectively hilarious.
...which is a weird thing to say about an event that occured on a warship in 1943, specifically november 14th.
see the uss william d porter was a fletcher-class destroyer but you dont need to know what that means, just that she had guns that went bang bang and that she was escorting another ship, the uss iowa, to cairo.
while they were on their way there, they performed some gun trials like testing the anti-aircraft guns or the torpedos. and while they were running a torpedo drill, the crew of the porter managed to fire a live torpedo straight at the iowa which you know, in terms of a list of things to do while escorting a ship, shooting a torpedo at them is not on that list.
especially if the president of the united states is on board.
yeah so fdr was on board and the gun trials were actually his idea, and part of the trials was that they were conducted under radio silence.
and that means the crew of the porter couldnt just call the iowa to be like "move out the way, we accidentally shot a torpedo at you."
but they did have signal lamps and you know, the signalman on board was trained to signal this exact kind of message.
...and uh never mind, the signalman did manage to successfully tell the iowa that a torpedo was coming toward them but wasnt as successful when it came to the direction the torpedo was coming from.
not all hope is lost though because the signalman could still use the signal lamp to correct his previous mistake and-, never mind, he announced that the porter was reversing, which she wasnt.
yeah so at catastrophic mistake number 3, they broke radio silence to warn the iowa and she managed to turn out of the way just in time which meant no one got hurt. and even though the inquiry into the incident led to chief torpedoman (fantastic job title btw) lawton dawson being sentences to hard labour, fdr intervened and waved away his sentence, saying it was all an accident.
but yeah, so thats my new measure for "how much did i really fuck up?" and when i compared accidentally picking up a pencil case without a tag on it in wilko, turns out it was a very minor fuck-up. yes, the cashier had to ask another worker to grab a duplicate so they could scan the barcode, but i didnt nearly kill the president during wartime via accidental friendly fire

okay. listen. if you ever find yourself falling into a new ideological circle, pay attention. if you notice that you’re among people who define themselves as part of an “in-group” with a pre-prepared human “enemy” to constantly rail against—if everyone fantasizes about the mental state of these loathsome monsters, if they participate in witch hunts or (perhaps worse) poke bears and court harassment on purpose to comfort each other over—get the fuck out. you haven’t been enlightened to some grand conspiracy, there are no evil “enemies” or “degenerates” trying to rip apart the fabric of society, and you do not have the moral duty to “enlighten” anyone to whatever you think the “truth” is. it’s neither safe nor normal to spend hours of your day fighting with strangers on the internet
a lot of people wear this shit like a badge of honor, but it’s also not normal to hide your “in-group” status as a form of martyrdom, relishing when the “enemy” slips up around you. it’s comforting in the moment, but in the long run, you’re alienating yourself from the world outside of your bubble. the more you alienate yourself, the more vulnerable and lonely you become, and the harder it is to reject the comfort of belonging to the “in-group”
i’m writing this from the perspective of someone who grew up in a cesspool of awful, cult-like rural churches—which is its own situation—but i see similar shit happening in online communities all the time, both within and 800 miles outside of my own ideological principles. yes, every toxicass radfem i block seems to be trapped in a version of this vicious cycle, but i also see it happening in random queer circles and niche fandom communities. no one is immune, not even me. i’ve watched people fall into this shit and never make it out. be careful

Tbh the problem with ship wars is that everyone tries to find a moral high ground to prove their ship is superior when actually shipping should be about making two characters kiss like a kid playing with barbie dolls
