I'm seriously thinking that boom boom boi would be both a cat and dog person, don't u agree? (Ily lots and don't feel pressured to do this if you have a lot of stuff going on!)
Hi Dorki! I'm finally making my way through my requests and I was really excited to write this one! Okay, hope you like it!

Izuku Midoriya
Now Izuku loves pretty much all animals, but I can totally see him getting a dog. Dogs are loyal and full of energy just like a certain green-haired hero. The perfect duo.
He would probably rescue one from the pound, the one with the biggest, saddest, cutest eyes because how could he not? But someone has to go with him because he'd try to rescue them all if there was no one there to stop him. Once a hero, always a hero I suppose.
I'm thinking for names, he would definitely pick a name that reflects his favorite heroes. Don't be surprised if he names his dog something super cheesy like Mighty or Rocky…
Wait, okay, I've decided, he names his dog Mighty and that is the hill I will die on.
The life of a hero is quite busy so when he goes off on long missions, he drops the dog off at his mom's house. Inko has fallen in love with this sweet pup, so much so that she sometimes begs him to stop by with the dog for a visit. It's the closest thing she's got to grandbabies at the moment, she'll take what she can get :)
Now, this cute pup draws in the attention of just about everyone so he's gotten an influx of attention and a few numbers slipped in his hand during their walks, much to his flustered surprise.
Best wingman ever.
This dog goes on regular runs with Izuku and sometimes even helps him with training. I'm thinking a Collie or an Aussie would just be the perfect fit for him to keep up with his personality and lifestyle. He needs an active dog!
I can see it now, he goes on his daily morning runs with this cute Lil furry training buddy and they race the whole way! A few regulars on the trail know about this and it's become sort of a tradition to cheer the two on as they pass.
 ...
The morning air was crisp with the slight scent of the coming autumn, the perfect morning for a run. Izuku, dressed in his usual training wear, had a steady rhythm going for the last forty minutes, letting out even, controlled breaths. This was the easy part of the run, a warm-up if anything, and he hadn't even broken a sweat yet. The canine jogging by his side was enjoying the dewy morning air as well, tongue happily flopping out the side of her mouth. The shared morning ritual between man and man's best friend: Mighty.
Her tail picked up speed, wagging uncontrollably as they neared the bend where the giant jagged rock towered over the path. It was the place marker to start the race. A three-mile run to the top of the hill located at the center of the park. It was also Mighty's favorite part of the morning.
"Ready girl?" Izuku grinned down at the ecstatic dog who barked in reply.
The instant the two of them passed the big rock, they both broke out in full speed, leaving behind a cloud of dust. Happy barks filled the air as she gained the upper hand. Izuku laughed as the dog turned to look back at him lagging behind her. He always did these races without his quirk to assist him. It was only fair and it helped him work on his natural stamina in case he was ever in a situation where he couldn't use his quirk. Always good to be prepared.
He watched as she bounded up the first steep hill on the trail. There were a few small hills on this route, but this one was the hardest to climb and Mighty had the advantage with her four legs so she always managed to pull ahead first. She stopped at the top and barked him on before quickly disappearing over the crest.
When he reached the top, he stopped for just a second to take in his surroundings. This part of the park was a heavily wooded area with numerous trails that many people used to hike or run. It also served as a great view of the city skyline and he couldn't help but stop and admire the rising sun from between the foggy buildings every time. Then Mighty barked to pull him out of his thoughts.
"It's not over yet!" He called after her and raced down the hill, putting on an extra burst of speed to easily close the distance.
Tail wagging, she nipped playfully at his feet as they sprinted along the path, side by side. There weren't many people out this early so he usually had the trail to himself. The only sounds were the wind in the trees, the leaves crunching under feet and paws, Mighty barking beside him, and his own unrestrained glee as they ran together.
These were the mornings he loved. Just the two of them, away from the stresses that came with pro-hero work. He wouldn't trade being a hero for anything, but sometimes it got to be too much so coming here to clear his mind with a little run was always a cathartic release, only made better by the furry companion by his side.
The short bridge that arched over the creek signaled the last mile. Getting more serious, Izuku pulled ahead of Mighty, not able to hold back the giant grin as he streaked across the bridge, startling a few birds off the railings which Mighty barked at as she came up behind him.
Up ahead was a large open meadow with a small duck pond near the center. A few benches were scattered about the path and he saw the same elderly couple sitting in their usual spot with a bag of rice and seed to feed the plethora of ducks waddling around their feet.
"You got him this time Mighty!" The old man looked up as the two of them zipped down the path towards the couple.
"Show 'em what girls can do!" The woman cracked a smile, waving her hands.
"Morning Mr. and Mrs. Fujino!" Izuku waved as he passed. "Don't count me out yet!"
Mighty barked her greeting and took a detour, herding some ducks closer to the couple then with a quick lick to Mr. Fujino's hand, she sprinted back to catch up to Izuku.
The Fujino's marked the last leg of the race. The only thing left was to climb the top of the largest hill in the park to the old oak tree at the top. That was the finishing line. It was always a gamble as to who finished first every day, but Mighty sure had a competitive spirit.
Izuku pumped his legs as he steadily made his way up to the dirt trail, Mighty just behind him before she suddenly veered left and disappeared into the shrubbery. He was so focused on the tree that slowly came into view just around the curve as he neared the top that he didn't notice.
Just as the path leveled out, almost to the finish line, he glanced back to see no sign of his dog. The tree was a few feet away when a furry mass ambushed him from the side, knocking him clean off his feet. The pro hero landed in the grass with a heavy Oof. Sitting on his chest was Mighty, looking quite proud of herself.
"Cheater!" He laughed, trying his best to hold back the slobbery licks she was determined to give him. "Okay, okay, I'll call it a tie!"

 Katsuki Bakugo
Now Katsuki on the other hand would totally be a cat person. Not that he has anything against dogs, but cats are more his style. They don't need constant attention and are pretty much self-sufficient. Just the way he likes it.
That being said, Katuski would go all out on toys and the latest gizmos to take care of his cat. Has a self-cleaning litter box, a waterfall bowl, an automatic feeder, etc. You get the picture.
Oh, and toys galore. If he has space, this cat is getting a personal jungle gym that lets him walk up to the ceiling. S.P.O.I.L.E.D.
Doesn't like to tell people just how much he actually loves this cat because he's never been one to express emotions, but this cat just gets him to his core. They share the same wavelength and he appreciates that. The cat is the only one he trusts to open up to, so sometimes you might catch him ranting to the poor thing who just stares back with big wide eyes and occasional meows. Yup, totally gets him.
I see him with a super chill cat, like maybe a Ragdoll or a Russian Blue. Something that tolerates his constant screaming and explosions.
This guy is just as bad at names. It'll definitely be something long and dramatic like Lord Cat Explosion Demon God of Furballs. Yep. He doesn't take criticism so most people call him Lord Furballs, much to his disdain.
Katsuki won't ask for attention from the cat, but the little furry feline is a total cuddler and will often find itself curled up in his lap or even on his neck if Katsuki's sitting on the couch. You better believe this guy won't be moving until that cat decides it's time to move. He's been late to meetings with friends because of this cuddly cat.
He's a hero so this cat is definitely being treated right. Katuski is no slacker when it comes to caring for his lil buddy. The vet is on speed dial should anything ever happen.
Did someone say a custom-made collar that matches his hero costume to a tee?
He's never loved anything more.
 ...
"Uh, hey Bakubro, why is your cat glaring at me?" Ejiro asked, staring down at the feline.
"What?" Katsuki didn't even bother to look up from his laptop.
"Your cat. It's giving me the evil eye. I thought it was supposed to be friendly." The red-haired hero frowned, not able to break eye contact with the cat. "I don’t think it likes me."
The small furry creature had lazily curled up in the sunspot next to Katsuki's feet, purring away without a care in the world. It seemed harmless enough, except for the heavy glare it was shooting Ejiro's way.
"Heh," Katsuki finally glanced down and crossed his arms. "He's not glaring. That's just his face."
"Ah," Ejiro nodded, "like father like son."
"What the hell's that supposed to mean!?"

The Rescue: BNHA x Fem! Reader- Newfoundland Dog
She gently placed Izuku into a glass cage before pulling you to a back door labeled "Dogs," the Golden retriever slipping in behind you before you closed the door.
Upon entering, you were greeted by lots of barking, the dogs obviously not using their indoor voices. The wall of sound left you a bit dazed as you took in the activity in front of you.  You were actually surprised by the variety back here. There was a husky, Pitbull, and even a German Shepard. The room was rather large and open for them to interact with potential owners, various dog toys strewn across the floor with the dog kennels to the back.
The animals seemed to have an unspoken respect for Inko. They made sure to get out of the way as she walked or stop playing long enough for her to pass by before continuing their fun. It was amusing to watch. You followed her path with your eyes before she came to a stop next to two big dogs. You paled as she led the bigger animal over to you.
"Here he is, (y/n)! This is Taishiro!"
Inko looked absolutely tiny compared to the behemoth of a dog beside her.
"Are you sure that's a dog? I'm fairly certain that is, in fact, a bear."
You eyed the golden-brown dog cautiously a bit intimidated by his size and the fact that if he so chose, any walk would become a drag with no contest on who was stronger.
Inko laughed and ruffled the fur on his head.
"He's a dog, just a big one. This big boy is a Newfoundland. Sure he can have a bite if he's in danger, but he's really just a big teddy bear. He's a sweetheart."
Tai cocked his head to the side and looked you over as Inko continued to reassure you.  He was skeptical about this whole being adopted out thing but with no foreseeable human future for him, he would have to put his trust in Inko and Nezu. You were obviously a bit intimidated by him, but he hoped he could prove to you that you had nothing to worry about.
You offered him a shy smile that quickly grew as he wagged his tail.
"see! He likes you! I'll go get some gear for you and you can get to know him a bit." Inko patted you on the shoulder before leaving to get supplies from the main half of the store, not noticing or electing to ignore your panicked look.
You swallowed nervously before looking back at Tai. He was waiting patiently for you to make the first move, not wanting to scare you off. You gave a nervous wave.
"Hey, Taishiro... I'm (y/n)."
He stepped forward and pushed his head into your offered hand, causing you to give a shaky laugh.
"Inko was right, you're not scary... sorry for misjudging you."
You began to pet him and were pleased when he stepped closer so you had easier access. He was so fluffy! He was a brown dog with golden tones in his fur and intense golden eyes. He was quite a big dog, big enough to bowl you over without much effort, but he was gentle with you.
Inko came back to find you sitting on the floor next to Tai, petting his stomach as he laid on his back for you. Your face was scrunched up in happiness as you talked to him, complimenting his behavior and telling him he was a good boy.  All too soon though, it was time to go. She made you promise to give updates over the phone before sending you on your way with the big dog.
~~~~~~~~
Taishiro was very confused when he woke up the next morning. After the accident that transformed him into a dog, he was used to the hustle and bustle of a crowded dog kennel. He was not used to the peace and quiet of your apartment. Usually, he would have been woken up early by Kirishima to spar, or as close as they could come to sparring in these forms. Still, he much preferred your couch to the kennels that were in the pet store.
"Morning sleepy head"
He looked up as you walked into the room, your uniform from yesterday traded for black shorts, a tank top, and a suspiciously familiar-looking yellow hoodie.
You sat down on the couch next to him and ruffled the fur on the top of his head.
"good morning Taishiro! Thanks for being a good boy and letting me sleep in."
He watched you intently, trying to place what about your outfit stuck out to him. He almost fell off the couch when he realized. You were wearing his merch. His pro hero merch. You had a Fatgum hoodie.
"what's up, do I have something on my jacket? "
You quickly searched the yellow material, a concerned crease between your eyes.
"I better not, this is my favorite hoodie..." You sighed with relief upon finding nothing and smiled back at Tai.
"Good news bub, all is good and my hoodie is safe. "
Had he been human, Tai would have been smirking. You had absolutely no idea who you were talking to and he found that hilarious. He was quite flattered that of all heroes, you had chosen him as your favorite.
You turned on the tv and settled onto the couch, pulling the hoodie close, your hands vanishing in the oversized sleeves. It was a good replica, he had to admit, but his real costume was a lot bigger. He took a moment and imagined what you would look like in it. He snorted lightly in amusement. You would be swimming in it. It would be really cute, but it was just a passing thought, seeing as he was a dog now and couldn't give you that opportunity. The cheerful mood he was in before slipped from him as the thoughts of his new life set in. He sunk onto the couch next to you.
You weren't sure what had changed, but you noticed that he seemed sadder somehow. Now that just wouldn't do. You carefully pulled his head into your lap and focused on petting him while some baking competition played on tv. The day passed in much the same way. You watched tv and made a commentary for him, occasionally looking down at him with a tut and an explanation of how the contestant went wrong.  It was early evening when you decided it was time for your relaxation to come to an end.
Tai was content and on the verge of sleep before you moved to get up. He wasn't having it and moved so more of him was in your lap, effectively trapping you on the couch. He was comfy gosh darn it.
You laughed and started to playfully shove at the mass of fur on your lap.
"Tai, get off me, you big galoot! I wanted to take you on a walk before sunset."
He begrudgingly removed himself from your lap and you skipped to your bedroom to change. As comfy as the hoodie and shorts combo was, it was still snowy from the night before. Tai was surprised with how quickly you had warmed up to him. As anxious as you were yesterday, any doubts about keeping him seemed totally gone. He hopped off the couch and settled by the door to wait for you. You were sweet, and he could see himself enjoying his time with you. Not to mention you obviously had good taste based on your choice of hero.
You emerged wearing Red riot leggings and a Suneater beanie. Tai was in awe of you. Not only were you his fan, but you also supported his protegees. The more he got to know you, the more he liked what he was seeing.
You grinned as you noticed his tail going a mile a minute.
"Ready to go, big fella?"
You clipped the leash onto his collar and took him outside.
~~~~~~ Tai quickly fell into a routine with you. You took him on a walk in the morning before work, Next, you had breakfast and then got ready for work. Tai was quickly learning to hate the time left alone. Back at the store, he was able to talk to the others, especially because he was able to talk to everyone hit by the quirk regardless of species. Now that he was left to his own devices, he didn't have that much to do.
One day while you were gone, he decided to properly explore the apartment. The living room was where he was most familiar, seeing as that's where you had him sleep. He hadn't gone into your room yet because he wanted to give you privacy, but... He was curious. He decided he might as well check it out. He pushed the door open with his nose and looked around with interest. His heart warmed at your choice of decor. You had several Fat Gum posters hanging on your walls as well as a few of Suneater and Red Riot as well. There was a singular All Might poster as well. It was a small room, seeing as you couldn't afford a large apartment. It was cozy though. Your bed was pushed into the far corner away from the door. It had many pillows, some stuffed animals, and what seemed to be a weighted blanket. He hopped onto the bed to get a better view. Your room smelled strongly of your favorite perfume and had a very cozy feeling. He had come to associate the smell of you with relaxation and safety, so it wasn't long before his eyes drifted closed.
When you came home two hours later, you weren't expecting the empty living room. Your first instinct was to panic and you started a frantic search. You scolded yourself internally, walking through your day to make absolutely sure he didn't have a chance to run away. You quickly ran to your room to grab a better jacket to go look for him. As soon as you burst through the door, you froze. He was sleeping, in your room. You gave a tired sigh and smacked your head against the door frame lightly for jumping to conclusions.
"You are so lucky you're cute because you just gave me a heart attack." You muttered to yourself, adrenaline fading. Stepping further into the room you threw your jacket over your desk chair and slipped off your shoes. You faceplanted onto the bed beside your bed, tired from the scare on top of the shift you just worked. What you didn't expect was Tai to feel the shift on the bed and subsequently roll over to cuddle with you. You suddenly had a face full of fur and a near 200-pound dog smothering you. You laughed painfully and shoved him off you, waking him in the process.
"Hey silly, try not to squish me, I still have to get you dinner, you still need me. You can make me into a  pancake later."
He stared at you in sleepy surprise as he slowly woke up. His first coherent thought was that he liked waking up to such a pretty smiling face. And you were offering to feed him? Bonus. Dog food was not appetizing as he still regained his taste from being a human. Still, there wasn't much he could do about it besides stealing human food from you when he had the chance. You would scold him, but he could tell you weren't really mad at him.
You scratched behind his ears and sat up, scooting up further on the bed so you could pet him more easily.
"You had me worried carebear. You usually greet me at the door. I was so scared you'd gone and run away."
You squished his face between your hands and kissed the top of his nose.
"I don't know what I would do if I ever lost you. You're really important to me, you know." You hugged his head to your chest and before peppering his ears and face with kisses.
Tai accepted the affection happily, but a part of him felt guilty for making you worry. Sure he was just your pet, but you really did love him at this point. He didn't like the spike of distress that coursed through him as you told him how upset you had been. He made a silent vow to himself not to make you worry again.
Little did he know that you would turn the tables on him later and he would be the worried one.
~~~~~
You had gotten sick. You weren't sure how, but you were fairly certain that a coworker had given you their cold. It wasn't that bad, but you were still fairly miserable. You woke up on your day off with a stuffy nose and throat feeling of sandpaper. It was far from pleasant.
You carefully slipped out of bed, careful to keep from waking Tai, who had taken to sleeping on your bed after you had invited him the first night when you thought he ran away.
While you would have liked nothing better than to lay in bed and wallow in how awful you felt, there were some errands that needed to be run. Sickness or not, you had to be up and moving today.
You got dressed in a simple Deku T-shirt and leggings before pulling on your fatgum hoodie, wanting to be comfy if you were going to face the masses. Pushing the sleeves up so they no longer covered your hands, you sat on your desk chair and mentally prepared yourself to leave the house. Just as you were putting on your shoes to leave, you heard Tai whine.
You gave him what you hoped was more smile than grimace and patted his head.
"Hey, bud. No walk until later. I don't feel too well. I'll make sure you get a short walk when I get back though. I have to go to the store first."
Tai was absolutely not having it. He could tell that you weren't feeling well by your miserable posture. Hunched in on yourself and wrapped in your comfort items with a red nose and bags under your eyes, you made for a pretty pitiful picture. He wasn't about to let you leave like that! You needed sleep. And soup. He wasn't sure how he would manage the second thing, but he was determined to make sure you took it easy today.
As soon as your hand reached the doorknob, you felt a warm body plant itself in front of you, effectively blocking the door.
"Carebear, I need to run errands. You've got to let me go out."
Tai made a disgruntled noise and stayed put, knowing that it would be a pain to move him and you currently did not have the strength.
You, of course, took his actions to mean something else.
"Are you sour because I said no walk till later? I promise as soon as I'm done with errands I'll be back and we can go for a short walk. If you're really upset about it we can go for a longer walk, but I still need to go run errands."
Tai just planted himself more firmly against the door and looked up at you with defiance shining in his eyes. He was not going to let you leave. Had he been human, he would have simply picked you up and brought you back to bed, but that wasn't an option. He would have to be creative.
Seeing as Tai didn't look like he was moving, you made a decision You stepped back and put your hands up in surrender. You turned around and started to make your way towards the couch.
"Fine, fine, I'll stay..."
Once you saw him trot back into the living room, you grabbed your stuff and booked it to the door, slamming it shut behind you before Tai could catch up. You grinned triumphantly at him through the living room window, cheeks glowing from exertion, but eyes bright with victory. Tai put his front paws against the window sill, staring at you with peeved disbelief. You had tricked him! He was just trying to look out for you. He gave you an unimpressed look before turning around and sitting with his back to the window, effectively giving you the cold shoulder.
You shook your head with a small smile before walking away, determined to go get your errands done quickly. You made a mental note to grab a treat for Tai to apologize for tricking him, he was still a good boy after all, albeit a salty one.
You returned that evening with several shopping bags, your energy all but spent. Slipping into the apartment, you had to take a moment to lean against the door for support. You frowned a little when Tai didn't greet you at the door but you didn't panic like last time. setting the groceries aside, you searched the apartment. Like last time, he was in your room. He wasn't asleep though. He sat in a corner of your room, lifting his head when you entered before standing and turning his back to you before sitting back down again.
"Awwww, still grumpy from this morning? I'm sorry carebear. I just had to get some things done I'm back now. I've got treats for you..."
You tried to coax him out of the corner, but he was resolute in his sulking. You pouted to yourself and headed back to the kitchen to work on dinner, deciding to give him his space.
As much as Tai wanted to be annoyed with you, he couldn't stay upset with you for long. Within ten minutes of your return, he was wandering out of the room to come see you. He told himself it was just to make sure you were alright, but really he admitted that he just missed you.
You hummed to yourself as best you could as you worked on dinner. It was supposed to be a really simple soup, but concentrating was becoming difficult with the headache that had made its presence know while you were out and about. That's why you weren't surprised when you cut yourself while chopping onions. You hissed in pain and instinctively shoved the offending digit into your mouth.
Tai was by your side in an instant, eyes wide with concern and body tensed.  You gave him a sympathetic look and removed the finger from your mouth to show him.
"It's okay boy, it wasn't a bad cut, it just startled me is all. I should have been paying more attention. I'll get it fixed up and finish dinner, then we can relax. Sound good?"
He relaxed a little bit, but you could tell he was still on edge. You quickly sanitized the cut and put a bandage on before finishing the soup and grabbing a bowl.
Once you sat down to eat, Tai was next to you, carefully examining your newly bandaged finger. Once he had deemed it worthy, he sat next to you, leaning against you.
After finishing your soup, you stretched and got up, sniffling pathetically as you started to get your jacket, preparing to take Tai on the walk you promised him.
He quickly hopped up and stopped you in your tracks, gaze fierce. You frowned in confusion and paused, not used to seeing him so intense.
" What's wrong buddy? I promised you a walk."
You were so oblivious sometimes and Tai was so done with being a dog. It was hard to properly convey his worry in this form. He decided since he couldn't outright tell you, he would have to show you. He stepped forward and snagged your sleeve cuff in his teeth before jerking it towards your room. You followed him with a puzzled expression, not quite sure what he was up to.
"Yes, this is my room. What did you want to show me? The bed? Why'd you bring me here?"
Tai released your sleeve and jumped onto the bed before grabbing the back of your shirt and tugging. You quickly lost your balance and toppled onto the plush surface with an undignified squeak of protest.
"Taishiro, what on Earth are you doing?"
He paid no mind to your question and instead grabbed your blanket. He dragged it over your protesting form before laying across your stomach so you couldn't get up. That ought to keep her, he grouched to himself.
You struggled for all of one minute before accepting your fate with a mumbled insult about him being a jerk.  It didn't take long for you to settle down though. Soon enough, you were petting Tai and drifting off. You leaned up and kissed his nose before giving him a mumbled goodnight followed by an "I love you"
Tai smiled tiredly and licked your hand in response before he too surrendered to sleep.
~~~~~
Taishiro was seriously starting to lose it. He had been your pet for five months now and it was starting to catch up to him. It was safe to say at this point that he adored you. He found himself looking forward to spending the day with you. He loved spending time with you, no matter what you were up to. He liked the way you talked to him like he was still human. You were so funny and kind and he was getting addicted to your laugh.
He wasn't foolish enough to mistake what he was feeling. He had fallen for you. Hard. This complicated things. He was a dog. He wasn't supposed to love you. Sure he had been human before and was still a human in his mind, but that didn't change the fact that the situation was messed up. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he knew things had to change.
He was startled out of his ramblings by you rattling his leash. You were wearing his favorite outfit on you since the weather had warmed up. You had on black shorts and a tank top accompanied by the too big fat gum hoodie.
"Hey carebear, up for a walk? The park is beautiful right now!"
He couldn't deny you anything if he tried. He bounded over to you, tail in overdrive. You snorted in amusement as he bumped his nose against your cheek when you clipped his leash on.
"Eager today?" You asked cheerfully, bumping his shoulder playfully with your hip.
The two of you were quickly out the door and on your way to the park. Once you reached it, you closed your eyes and tilted your face towards the sun as you enjoyed the fresh breeze that carried the scent of freshly mowed grass and the sound of happy chatter from the other park goers.
You beamed at Tai as you started along the trail. He was pleased you were so happy. Even though he loved how you looked, you were always a bit shy about how you looked when you went out to the park with him. You had confided in him that the joggers on the trail made you a bit self-conscious. He saw your outfit and attitude today as a step in the right direction. You were just enjoying the nice day and a nice walk, nothing else.
After about an hour of walking, you settled onto a shaded bench, hoodie now tied around your waist by the sleeves due to the heat. Fanning yourself lightly, You sighed in relief.
"We should head home soon buddy, you must be dying in this heat!"
Tai could only pant in agreement, the heat seeping through his fur. Apparently, this breed thrived in colder climates.  He perked up though when he saw an ice cream cart a few meters away. He grabbed the edge of your shirt and whined to get your attention.
You laughed and allowed him to lead you, confused but interested nonetheless. It quickly became apparent where he was taking you. You rolled your eyes and ruffled his fur on his head.
"You want a cold treat, huh bud? Fine. But only this once as a treat."
You smiled and walked over to the vendor and purchased a scoop of vanilla icecream for Tai and (Favorite flavor) for yourself. Content with your purchase, you hurried back to the bench. Tai was dancing from foot to foot, elated to be getting ice cream after such a long time without the frozen treat. It was just as heavenly as he remembered. Setting the paper bowl on the ground for him, you settled back on the bench and ate yours.
All was going fine until a jogger stopped in the shade nearby. You gave her a polite smile and she nodded in response. Her gaze was friendly enough until it drifted from your face to your frozen treat. She grimaced and looked you up and down before giving a disapproving tut and continuing on.
The sweet taste of the ice cream quickly began to become bitter in your mouth as her look of judgment flickered through your mind.  You bit your lip as tears began to sting the corners of your eyes. Setting the bowl aside, you unknotted the hoodie from your waist and zipped it up to your chin. Tai was surprised to see your transformation when he looked up from his clean bowl.
Giving a tight smile, you threw away both paper bowls.
"I think we should head home, carebear. It's been a long day."
Tai trailed after you with uncertainty, not liking this muted version of the (y/n) he loved. You were subdued, smile there, but clearly fake.  He quickly found the source of your discomfort when the original jogger passed with a friend, whispering about you and the ice cream. You wouldn't have been able to hear the cruel words, but being a dog did not afford Tai the same deafness. What he heard made him livid.
How dare they? How dare they talk about his gummy bear like that?! You were perfect to him and they were putting you down as if they had any right. He couldn't help the deep growl that left his throat as he bared his teeth at the two.
You whipped around at the sound, having never heard so much as a threatening whine from him before.
"Taishiro! What's gotten into you?" You worriedly tugged him away, hastily leading him back towards the apartment.
Once you reached home, you dropped to your knees in front of him, cupping his face with your hands as you looked him over.
"What happened there, bud? You doing okay?"
He was touched by your worry, but truly he was more worried about you. He knew you were never the most confident in yourself, so to see someone so cruelly tear that away from you made him angry. You deserved the world and he was not going to stand by while someone hurt you. He licked your cheek in an effort to calm you, reassuring you that he was alright now.
Throwing your arms around his neck, you happily buried your face in his shoulder, taking comfort in his soft warmth. After a few minutes of just snuggling against him, you stood and unclipped his leash.
"Go on bud, I'll be there in a sec."
You removed your shoes before heading to the kitchen. You fed Tai and hesitated in front of the fridge before going to your room. Tai was not going to let that slide. He quickly followed you and grabbed the edge of the hoodie to drag you back to the kitchen. Once you saw the destination, your face pinched in annoyance.
"it's okay Tai, I'm not hungry tonight. You eat up. I'm going to head for bed."
As you started to head for your room again, Tai once again snagged your jacket.
"Tai, I said drop it." Your tone was firm this time, not in the mood for his antics. He repeated it once more time, this time he growled to punctuate how serious he was taking this.
"Taishiro, let go. I am going to bed, and that's final."
When he held fast to the hoodie, you had had enough and unzipped the article of clothing. Letting it fall limp in his grip, you went to your room and closed the door, eliminating his chances of getting you out, what with the lack of thumbs.
Had you known how to speak dog, you would have heard some fairly colorful language on the other side of your door. You did your best to ignore it though and got ready for bed.
While Taishiro was impulsive and determined to solve problems, your stubbornness was easily a match for him. He paced anxiously in front of your door before he heard you rap your knuckles against your side. He waited for the telltale twist of the knob, but he was disappointed.
"Goodnight Carebear. I love you, be a good boy out there, alright?"
He was beyond frustrated now. You refused to listen to him and had isolated yourself with your thoughts and he couldn't get to you. He fumed silently, his heart breaking for you as he tried to come up with ways to encourage you to feel better about yourself. He eventually settled down with a discouraged huff and hoped he would have a clearer mind in the morning.
He did not end up sleeping until morning. In the late hours of the night, he woke to a strange feeling coursing through him. Tingles and warmth spread through his limbs like fire through his veins. He shut his eyes tightly as he weathered through the sensation. The last time he felt like this was when he was hit by that godforsaken animal quirk that got him into the whole mess.
Once it felt like it had reached its peak, it vanished altogether with a quiet pop. The relief was immediate. Tai carefully opened his eyes before pausing in confusion. The room looked completely different. He was seeing it from an all-new perspective. When he tried to move, he was stunned to discover the reason for his new line of sight. He was human again. He gasped and immediately pinched himself, pleased to find that this was not in fact a dream.
He was elated. However, something important had not come back with the transformation. His clothes were missing. He briefly considered waking you up to ask for help, but quickly vetoed that idea. That was a good way to traumatize you and get arrested. He decided his best choice was to call his agency. They had plenty of his spare costumes and clothes and were actually fairly close to your apartment.
He snagged your phone from where you had left it on the counter in your haste to escape to your room. He took a moment to marvel at the size difference between the two of you. Though he was in his skinny form, he had gotten to know you from the perspective of someone smaller than you so the shift in perspective was disconcerting.
The call to his agency took longer than he hoped it would. He had to give a short summary of what had happened before promising to give a full account the next day. It was tiring, but he was soon dressed and comfortable. He decided he would let you sleep and spring this whole thing on you at a much more decent hour.
~~~~~~~
Without any clue of the mess that was soon to be, you dragged yourself out of bed the next morning. You were decidedly crankier due to your favorite cuddle buddy being locked out of your room by yours truly. You were starting to regret your tantrum and resolved to yourself that you shouldn't have let the incident at the park get to you. Rubbing your eyes with a yawn, you stepped out into the living room only to freeze as a heavenly smell grabbed your senses. Picking up your hoodie from where Tai had left it by your door, you slipped it on and followed your nose to the kitchen.
You froze for the second time in the brief time you had been awake. There was a man in your kitchen. But not just any man, the man you had been crushing on since you had first seen him in action shortly after you had moved. Fat gum was in your kitchen, and... cooking breakfast?
You concluded that this was simply an elaborate dream and walked in to stand next to him.
"Whatever you're making smells amazing."
He turned around so quickly that you almost got whacked upside the head with a spatula.
"(y/n), gummy bear, you're awake!"
His smile was absolutely radiant and your cheeks quickly retaliated with a dusting of red.
"Y-yeah. Good morning. "
He pulled a chair out at the counter for you and you quickly complied, sitting and watching him with awe.
"I just made french toast. I hope you don't mind."
He placed a plate in front of you with the prettiest breakfast you had ever seen on it.
"Best dream ever," you mumbled to yourself before taking a bite, almost melting at the taste.
Tai grimaced and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"It's, uh, not a dream sugar. I'm actually here. Have been for a while actually. It's pretty hard to explain."
You listened patiently before shaking your head and pointing your fork at him.
"Yeah, no. There's no way this isn't a dream. There isn't a single realistic thing in this whole sequence. The man of my dreams makes me breakfast? Yeah, a nice domestic fantasy, but just that. A fantasy."
You made a vague gesture with the fork between the two of you.
"Besides, you are so far out of my league."
He frowned and stepped forward, flicking your forehead lightly.
"Now you cut that out. I am perfectly in your league. Don't you dare badmouth yourself again, honey."
You pouted and clutched your forehead in pain before realization started to dawn, pout fading into a look of pure shock.
"You can't feel pain in dreams..." you murmured absently.
"And I told you, it's not a dream. Now eat your breakfast and I'll explain."
You nodded dumbly and shoveled another forkful of the french toast into your mouth as Tai looked on encouragingly. He leaned on the counter.
"So, I was hit by a quirk roughly six months ago. This quirk was suped up on an experimental quirk enhancement drug. "
he frowned as he remembered getting caught in the blast of gas that had formed after the criminal's quirk went haywire.
"This quirk turned me and several others into animals. The pros tried everything and weren't able to reverse it. Those of us struck by it had to resolved ourselves to spending the rest of our lives as animals."
You nodded along, thoroughly invested in the story
"Eventually, we were relocated to a pet store for care from a trusted parent of one of the heroes hit by the quirk. You may know her as Inko Midoriya."
At this revelation, you nearly choked on your food.
"WAIT! YOU MEAN, ALL THIS TIME... you...My dog Tai, That was you?" Your voice rose in both pitch and volume as both horror and embarrassment took over.
Tai simply laughed and took your hands, rubbing soothing circles on the back of them.
"It's alright gummy bear, it all worked out. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have taken care of me in such a vulnerable state. Sorry if I scared you."
You looked from his hands holding yours to the yellow sleeves of your hoodie before you quickly snatched your hands back and buried your face into them.
Tai had the nerve to laugh.
"sorry to fluster you. But I'm glad I could finally tell you the truth."
He had to lean in close to hear your muffled response.
"My crush was my dog!" You wailed into your hands, face alight with a bright blush.
He carefully moved your hands away before tilting your chin up tenderly.
"We can talk about this later if you want, maybe over coffee?"
You looked at him in disbelief.
"Are, are you asking me on a date?"
He grinned and kissed your nose.
"I most certainly am. I'd be a fool to not after all the time I've spent falling in love with you."
can you tell me what you think about the kids at 1a?
hi anon, I'm sorry that I took so long to answer this, when I saw your ask I felt really lazy, because there's too many people in the class lol
this is going to be a long post, since we have 20 characters to cover, so I'm putting it under the cut
okay, first of all I want to say that I don't hate any of the kids at 1a besides mineta, BUT, I do have a feeling of indifference towards at least half of them and do dislike some, I always thought that the story would been benefited if there were less people in the classes, since hori would've been able to develop them better, so don't expect me to talk a lot about everyone. also, don't take everything that I say too seriously, this is not a character analysis, I'm just doing it for fun.
anyway, the order that I'm using to list them is their seating arrangement in the class, so let's start
yuga aoyama: I already said this here before but I really like aoyama, he's ridiculous in the best way possible, he feels like a character that horikoshi took away from ouran high school club or something. since the chapter where he and deku became friends were released I felt like he deserved more screentime, because his backstory about him thinking of himself as different than the other kids in the class because of his quirk being "defective" is really interesting, I always wanted to see more of his friendship with deku and he overcoming his fears (since he was shown to be easily frightened)
mina ashido: I LOVE mina, I think that her design is so cool and her personality is really likable, when we had the kirishima flashback and we saw her protecting her friends from machia even though she was scared too was the moment that I decided that we deserved to see more of her in the story, I really liked to see she having a bigger role for a female character in a shonen, I wasn't too bad in the war but I still want more
tsuyu asui: okay, this is going to be controversial because I feel like everyone likes her, but I feel really indifferent towards her, maybe I was influenced by one of my friends that really doesn't like her but since that scene where she says that going to rescue bakugo is the same as acting like villains I started to not care about her all that much, and yes, I know that she admitted that she was wrong and everything but yeah, I don't really click with her personality (but I don't hate her, please don't be mad at me kdbdgsusj)
tenya iida: ah, what a respectable little man iida is, I really like him, I think that the way that he take everything so seriously is hilarious, like him acting super dramatically in their exams to be as similar as possible to his vision of what a villain is. I really like how he grew since the stain arc and how he decided to be a hero that prioritizes the safety of others in detriment to fighting the villains. I'm really happy that he became the focus of the story lately and that he was the one who could hold deku's hand, I want him to have a bigger role in the story for now, maybe even encountering with stain again and showing to him that he's now a great hero
ochaco uraraka: I love her personality, she's really cute, and her fight with bakugo at the beginning of the story was a highlight to me back then, but, I feel like her character became too much attached to deku after aoyama made her realize that she likes him, almost felt like her personality was gone and her only defining feature was having a crush on him, anyway, thank god that apparently she's going to have importance right now in the story because she's too much of a cool character to become just the romance interest for the male lead
mashirao ojiro: denki playing with his tail is cute, I think that is funny how horikoshi always describes him as the plain one, it was cool when he refused to participate in the sports festival because he didn't felt like he deserved
denki kaminari: oh this sweet dumbass, I love him, he's so funny and cute, I think that is that funniest thing how he just decided to call bakugo "kacchan" and is super overly friendly with him and bakugo just lets him, I actually don't think that he's "stupid" as part of the fandom seems to think, I strongly believe that people can be smart in their own ways, maybe he's not the brightest in math for example but he already showed to be able to come up with strategies, I feel like denki has a lot of anxiety inside of him because of his quirk, but i also feel like he's really genuine in trying to be a hero, overall I really like him, he's really sweet
eijiro kirishima: this swee- I mean, super manly man is amazing, I feel like kirishima is for bnha what rock lee was for naruto, I really really really like him, I love his personality and I love even more his backstory, he's really a great person and he deserves all the love that he get from the fandom, I hope that we're going to see even more of him in the future
koji koda: he's adorable, his voice is really adorable the japanese dub, his quirk is like a disney princess
rikido sato: he bakes, I like cakes and pies, we would've been best friends
mezo shoji: since I saw that hori said that he uses his mask because people are afraid of him I'm impatiently waiting for his face to be shown, and if he doesn't look like a junji ito monster or something I'm going to be pretty disappointed, anyway, I like his personality, he was really cool at the forest arc (I clearly don't remember the arcs names, I'm sorry lol), and I feel like he could have a bigger role in the story if hori finally decides to address the prejudice against people with mutant quirks
kyoka jiro: she kind of reminds me of a girl that used to bully me in middle school because of the way that she treats denki but I still like her lol I liked how she learned that is okay liking to sing and music in general and being a hero at the same time, because after all a lot of people were saved by music and/or their favorite artists, but since I find her quirk so cool I wanted to she her fighting more
hanta sero: he's funny, even funnier than denki, he has a really relatable sense of humor and I love him for that, his quirk is really cool, but I feel kind of bad for him because deku now has practically the same one and he's not the only spiderman in the story anymore (his quirk being similar to spiderman was actually what made me like him in the first place because peter is my favorite hero ever)
fumikage tokoyami: my 12yo emo self shakes inside of me every time that I see him, anyway, I really like him, how would I not? he has a bird head, he's nice without being overly friendly and dark shadow is really cute, I don't really remember everything that happened in the war but I remember him saying to hawks that he believes in him, so I really wanted to see him frustrated at his mentor because of what he did to twice please horikoshi address the consequences of twice's death, I'm tired of waiting
shoto todoroki: ah my angel, shoto was the reason why I started reading the manga back in 2015, I knew that he was going to be my favorite just by seeing his character design. I love shoto, I want him to become the happiest person in the world because he really deserves it, I know that everyone thinks that deku is what an ideal hero looks like but o me it is shoto, he's kind, sweet, forgiving, has a heart made of gold and is just genuinely a good person, I could talk about him for a whole week without pause and still find more things to compliment about him so let's move on before I write over 10000 words about how much I love him
tooru hagakure: she... exists...
katsuki bakugo: while shoto is my favorite, I have to admit that bakugo has the best character development in the hero side of the story, I used to hate him at the beginning of the series but now I love him, a lot, he shows that horikoshi knows how to write a compelling redemption arc if he planned it since the beginning, I love that he started only having "fight" points at the entrance exam for ua to now having his first priority at saving people, bakugo is other that I could talk about for hours so let's move on
izuku midoriya: I like deku when he's not putting his nose at the todofam business, he's a good kid who needs some self esteem urgently, the way that he never seemed to care about his own well being always made me nervous, even though I never felt like he was in real danger, he's the mc for a reason, to summarize: I like him personality wise but some of the narrative choices that hori made for him are not my favorites
minoru mineta: I don't care, I hope for him to vanish from existence
momo yaoyorozu: she's the stereotypical anime girl with glasses (but without glasses in this case), I like her personality, she's really cute, her quirk is neat and she's super smart but, everytime that she puts her hero costume on... I feel super uncomfortable... this is not her fault of course but I think that I would like her even more if she was less sexualized
I could write more if I take more time to think, but I'm not going to do that today, if you want to know my opinion about other characters or something more specific about the kids feel free to send me other ask
also, I'm sorry if there's any atrocious grammar mistakes on this, I didn't reviewed the text and wrote just what I had in my head in the moment at four am
From the Furthest Tether: Part One
"Oh, Izuku," his mother, Inko tsked, rolling up his shirt sleeve and checking over the scuffs and blisters along his arm. She honestly wished her son and the friends he chose to surround himself with would play more gently with one another. Knowing that children often played rough, Inko honestly had to admit that Izuku returning home each day with small burns and bruises was beginning to become more and more concerning.
She began chewing her lip in anxiousness when she heard the slap of leather shoes coming up from behind her and the front door of their home closing shut. A hand brushed through her own green locks and she let out a small giggle like a teenager when her husband pecked her on the cheek, returning from another long day at work.
Hisashi's light hazel eyes widened slightly at the marks on his four-year old's arms and he scowled, "Are those children still causing you grief, Izuku?"
Izuku's little friendship group consisted of three children in question, two quieter kids who went along with whatever their ringleader, Katsuki Bakugou implemented them in.
Bakugou, in Hisashi's own words was a temperamental little nuisance who took after his hot-tempered mother, Mitsuki far too much. The child had an air of superiority that was incredibly unnatural for a boy that age and his unpunished behaviour often set Hisashi's teeth on edge.
Especially when it involved abusing his gentle-natured son who only wished to befriend the little brat in question. Something that he found himself despairing over on a daily basis.
"That woman needs to reign that little demon in before he seriously hurts somebody," Hisashi growled, setting down his briefcase and muttering under his breath as he removed his blazer from his shoulders.
"You know how children can be, dear," Inko moved from crouching to kneeling on the carpet while glancing up at her husband.
Hisashi fought the urge to roll his eyes at his wife's attempts to reason with him. It was a common excuse that most people used to make light of a situation, something that many adults would often say when it came to dealing with Bakugou's behaviour.
"I blame that mother and soft-hearted father of his," he grumbled, folding his blazer over one of the chairs in their dining room. Inko watched from over her shoulder and she smiled warmly, trying to offer the man she loved a tiny bit of comfort.
"I'll call Mitsuki and talk with her about it, Hisashi. I'm sure we can work something out."
Hisashi let out a huff in response, leaving to fetch something from his study further down the hallway while running a hand through his white curls. Inko let out a soft sigh, shaking her head fondly yet tiredly, understanding completely how her husband felt about the issue with Izuku's supposed friends.
While she was proud that her baby was kind-hearted, she often had to admit she found herself growing concerned over the fact Izuku would make excuses for the children who treated him dreadfully. Inko was more lenient with situations like this but her husband was a different story...
Although she loved him, sometimes the odd spark of life in Hisashi's eyes triggered an emotion that she would try to blot out of her mind. It was something that she would find herself wondering about every now and again.
Her son snapped her out of her own thoughts when she felt a small tug on the sleeve of her crocheted cardigan.
"It's okay, Mummy," Izuku sniffled from the wooden stool Inko had fetched him. He offered her a watery smile and then uttered words that the woman was thankful that her husband hadn't been in the room to hear; "A hero sometimes has to deal with injuries worse than these! So I will too, so it can make me stronger!"
.-.-.-.
.-.-.-.
Stronger, huh?
The light bulb above his head needed changing.
Izuku watched from his bed as the dull light flickered like a burnt-out candle above him with a foggy mind, still fuzzy from recently waking from emergency surgery.
There was a howl of utter anguish coming from outside of Izuku's ward and further down the hallway. It almost sounded like Present Mic's voice, but the boy couldn't be completely sure. Something else was yelled out, about "her" being dead.
He had no idea who had died, nor did he want to know at this current moment in time. Closing his eyes tight, Izuku shuddered upon hearing the absolute broken wail that followed, echoing all the way up to his room and further along the other side of the corridor.
Everything had gone so wrong in the Jaku Raid. It was supposed to be simple for him and his class; evacuate civilians and leave the fighting to the Pro Heroes.
At first, everything had started smoothly. Izuku had gone with his classmates and followed orders like a model student, only a little concerned when the static buzzing of Endeavor called out to several heroes for back-up.
It's probably nothing, he had told himself, escorting an elderly couple along a footpath to where their family were waiting.
But then the decay began, killing heroes and civilians alike while tearing down multiple buildings and natural resources. Izuku and his friends had been forced to leap into action, immediately following one of Endeavor's sidekicks, Burnin, who was moving towards one of many areas of complete carnage.
Soon after, a voice spoke through his mind that would haunt him for years to come:
"It's down there."
One for All screamed out in response, like a telepathic wave telling him to move. To do something.
And he had complied.
He had lied to his closest friends and darted off into danger with the intent to lure Tomura Shigaraki's awakened form towards him and away from everybody in the vicinity. His childhood friend and fellow classmate, Katsuki Bakugou, had tailed him while wearing his trademark smirk. Together they had jumped straight into the lion's den and Shigaraki took the bait completely, immediately aiming for Izuku until his impending rescue courtesy of Gran Torino.
Shortly after narrowly avoiding death, Izuku had been spared from a painful demise by none other than Bakugou, who had pushed him away from the elongated, sharpened tendrils of one of Shigaraki's many Quirks.
Everything had become a blur from then, Izuku remembers the rush of fury emitting from his every being and he charged Shigaraki with only one intent in mind; to hurt the other male for almost killing his childhood friend.
The world had become a blur for Izuku soon after and he had appeared back in the dreamscape, brushing along the ghostly walls of the void of One for All and its' previous wielders. But this time, Shigaraki was also there, crouched low while All for One seemed to be growing out of his spine like an uprooted evergreen, coiling his arms around the younger male's body like thick vines ensnaring him.
He remembered how much All for One's words stung upon hearing the villain rasp them out at his younger brother who opposed him alongside Nana Shimura, the seventh holder of One for All who also happened to be Shigaraki's paternal grandmother.
"Your power has been wasted on someone who couldn't protect his own teach or friend, yet they were able to defend him! To think you conferred this power to somebody so worthless was a complete mistake!"
Although the vestiges had stood their ground against the century-old madman, the words clung to Izuku and ate away at his already crumbling self-worth. He had been utterly helpless, both in their realm and his world.
The rest of the fight was nothing but a blur, smudges of memories here and there as he fought consciousness upon his return to the physical world. Izuku recalls that he had tried to reach Shigaraki with Black Whip one last time because he had the sudden desire to rescue the manic villain from his inner demons, literally and figuratively speaking. To reach out towards somebody who had threatened his life on multiple occasions, taken Kacchan captive back at the Training Camp and then spent their most recent battle targeting the green-haired teen with the intent to snatch him away and tear his Quirk away from his body.
And then after that, I'd be murdered in the most gruesome way Shigaraki could think of, his mind inputted as an extra punch in the figurative gut.
Izuku had attempted to stand his ground once more, using a Froppy-inspired move with Black Whip streaming out of his mouth, but had been blasted back where he then remained consumed by the darkness until he awoke in a hospital bed attached to an IV drip and completely alone.
With everything that had transpired, he had barely done anything. The villains escaped and there were talks of a lot of heroes passing away in battle that Izuku had only heard through his bouts of drifting in and out of consciousness. He wandered if Gran Torino had survived the violent attack Shigaraki had dealt him. The elder had essentially been gutted in front of them all, yet Izuku had no clue where he had been taken. Izuku prayed he was alive, All Might had already lost a number of his closest friends, he didn't deserve the devastation of losing the man who cared for him after Nana's death.
I need some air, he told himself, struggling to his feet while gripping the IV with one shaking hand as he forced himself to move forward. He shakily began unscrewing the drip from his cannula, pushing the IV pole aside as he shuffled out of the ward.
He made it all the way through the empty halls and up the elevator until he reached the doors to the hospital rooftop, though he was still unsure of what the purpose of going up to the roof was about…
Wolf’s Trust
Izuku was abandoned in the middle of the woods, she would have died alone if it wasn't for the rescue of a great wolf. It was larger than most wolves making it more feared than anyone that saw it. But Izuku being so young wasn't afraid of it. The wolf would take care of her and she would take care of it. She called it Kacchan
One day while the two were walking they came upon a small town. Like always when they found one Izuku would go into the town for some supplies. But this day something was different, in the town a prince (Monoma) was doing some rounds when he saw Izuku. He found her very attractive and wishes to take her back to the castle. She refuses, to which Monoma uses his guards to try and take her. Due to this, she cries out that they're hurting her and Kacchan hears her. He took off running and found her quickly and knocked the guards away from her. He stood beside her and wrapped his tails around her in order to protect her. Monoma starts to bad mouth the creature causing Kacchan to pounce on him. Izuku had to calm him down and they left. Izuku and Kacchan had to move as quickly as possible from the village before they were found again.
One day late at night Izuku and Kacchan are ambushed. Izuku was knocked out when someone put a cloth over her mouth and nose while another person held her arms back. Kacchan saw this happen and became more hostile before one of the men said "fight anymore and we'll kill her", this caused Kacchan to stop fighting back in favour of keeping her alive. Kacchan was knocked out with a similar substance as Izuku and they were both restrained. When Izuku woke up she was in a comfortable bed, wearing new clothes and her hands were tied. It wasn't long until a maid came in with food and tea then left. Izuku was confused and ignored the food until hunger got the better of her. While this was happening Kacchan awoke in a cage with a muzzle on. Monoma approached him and Kacchan tried to growl but the muzzle stopped him. Monoma mocked how loyal of a pet he was but didn't know that Kacchan was more than that. About half an hour after Izuku had eaten she started feeling tired and weak, which is when Monoma walked in. He then sat beside her and started to touch her. She tried to get away from his action but she was too weak and fell to her knees. Monoma was satisfied with her state and pulled her up to hold her. He stated "your perfect for my plan" and then pushed her on the bed and got on top of her. She was so scared but she was too weak to fight back. She was close to screaming for help but Monoma told her "you scream and that mutt of yours dies". After Monoma had finished his business with her he left her in a puddle of her own tires and locked the door. He didn't have the intention of having her as his bride just as a toy.
One night Kacchan was visited in his cage by a sorcerer called Uraraka. She told him she was told to come here in order to fulfil the deal. He agreed and she turned him back to his human form. He walked into the castle and could smell Monoma, which annoyed him. He followed Monoma to a room, he stepped in and heard him say "are you ready my pet". This made Kacchan angry that before Monoma could even start he had grabbed him by the throat and already had him on the ground. Monoma was scared for his life and even more so when Kacchan said: "let us go and never come near her again". Monoma was only looking for his own self-interest and let the two go. Kacchan was carrying Izuku in his arms and brought her to a cave. The next morning Izuku woke to find a stranger hugging her, she was confused and scared until she thought she recognized him. He opened his eyes and looked into hers. He introduced himself as Katsuki Bakugou, a man cursed to be a monster until he cared for someone other than himself. She felt nothing different towards him and still felt love for him.
Oh, no no it's not an issue at all! I don't mind it's alright! Focus and take care of yourself first and foremost! :>
And yes! I'll be doing her template once I actually find the time to draw her in her outfit and also for the mini scenes! Also I've actually ended up changing her name to Yaren instead since I was told by some people that Yuren sounded like another english word for something else (unfortunate :'D), I don't think that should change the kanji all that much but ahh I'm unsure.
Anyway sorry for the very long blabber, I did want to say what Yaren's quirk is! Her hero name is a WIP between Waterdog, Waterpuppy, Lottie or something else entirely.
Her quirk is called Axolotl, which gives her the humanoid appearance of an axolotl and is able to do anything an axolotl can do. Having gills to breathe underwater, but also lungs to live on land, a tail to swim really fast and also incredibly fast regeneration! She's usually better suited to fight underwater. She can heal almost any part of her body, minor cuts, severed limbs and even internal organs and brain! The latter however take days to weeks to heal, everything else can take seconds or minutes depending how much blood she's willing to lose to heal quicker.
Drawbacks however include her skin being irritable and sore if she's not in water long enough so she carries a water spray to help deal with it if it starts getting sore, she's very sensitive to toxins and pollution and if she overdoes her regeneration she'll get permanent scars on those areas and will be harder to heal properly next time. Plus if she overdoes it in any part of her body, she can lose too much blood and become paralyzed or pass out from blood loss.
Extra tid bits include how her skin is naturally a light pink but if she's in water long enough it turns darker and black like a wild axolotl which helps with camouflage and much much later probably in second year or third, she finds out her saliva or blood has regenerative abilities on others if they consume it or if it's placed on a wound!
I am so so sorry that was incredibly long, her quirk is pretty detailed as I've thought and researched about it a lot! I do have issue with trying to find a way to make her able to battle, and the only idea I got is that when she gets injured she can force her body to react to it to have an adrenaline rush which makes her strong enough for a while. That and also in water, due to her high speed and better suited environment she's able to sneakily attack enemies with quick powerful punches or kicks added to her quick swim speed! Thank you for reading and I am so sorry it's so long, please please don't rush yourself replying to this! As I said take care of yourself and thank you for your help! :D
Hi!
Sorry for the late reply again! (Life is busy.)
Yeah I didn't realize the english word thing either. But like I said in my original post, there are other readings to use, or the option of rearranging the name. ("ya", like has been mentioned before, is not a reading for that kanji, so it'd be a kirakira reading if anything. Unlike in English, changing one letter of a name to make it more unique doesn't work the same way in Japanese since it changes the meaning entirely in normal cases.) One of my previous suggestions in the first post were "Yujin/Yuzin" because the kanji for "ren" could be read that way in Japanese (as previously mentioned, "ren" is not a Japanese reading, but a Chinese one), but if you're set on using "ren" you could always rearrange it to "Renyu", or use the other readings for the "yu" kanji and make "Renie" or "Reniya" or something. Or you could still change "ren" and get "Jinie" or "Jiniya" or "Jinyu", among other things.
As for the quirk, it's already really well-thought-out and thorough! I don't know if you actually need to expand on it because that's already a lot of skills (I like the bit about the camouflage, and the later-in-school-years leaning how to heal others). I think it's a careful balance between being realistic and being overpowered (which can lead to potential mary-sue moments if you're being wary about that, but it's your character and if you have fun with it you can do whatever you want--besides, in canon Izuku's got that going on himself lol). You don't really need the bit about "when she's injured she can force her blood to give her an adrenaline rush and make her super strong", that feels like too much tbh.
I think the thing about trying to give her quirk so many applications is that you're trying to wield her powers over too many fields. You want her to be a battler but also good at sneaking/surprise attack tactics but also good at rescue (which is what I thought her powers would fit! Being good at being underwater and also healing? Rescuing people seems perfect for her!) but there IS such as thing as being spread too thin. Even in-universe or in-story or wherever you're planning to use her, if you have her try to do EVERYTHING, realistically she's going to burn out. It's good to have ambition, but even most characters in MHA don't have that many focuses.
I forget which characters canonically have certain career goals, but I know for certain there are several characters whose quirks and personalities are geared more toward being disaster/rescue heroes (like the Wild Wild Pussycats) or support heroes (like Nighteye) than toward reaction/responsive heroes (like All Might) or stealth heroes (like Eraserhead, but I think his type of hero work is also arguable and fits under multiple umbrellas). It's like in the very first arc where there's a bunch of heroes standing around not helping Bakugou when he was caught in that slimy villain because they knew their quirks weren't suited to that situation--it's not cowardly, but it's realistic, when they know their quirks can do more harm than good in certain situations, even if they wanted to help.
I think that's what applies here, with your character. Yes, I understand wanting her to be able to adapt to any situation, but I think there's a point where you have to give her a goal and set her toward it. Does she want to be on the frontline reacting to villain attacks as they come and going out to apprehend them first-hand, or does she want to pre-emptively stop villains before they can rise by doing investigation and stealth work, or does she want to use her incredibly fit biology to help others when disaster strikes and there's no villain involved at all? Sure she can have ambition like Bakugou or Izuku who want to be the best #1 hero, but even they have their focuses (both are reactive striker types!) and while Izuku is adaptive (ie. he's strategic and well-prepared for a raid strike to surprise attack the base Nighteye found, or he rescued people stuck under buildings and whatnot during that exam and had good "bedside manner" for lack of a better term when dealing with rescuees) most of his actual quirk training has gone toward being brute force and quick response toward emergencies and villainous plots.
You can have her be strong but also give her vulnerabilities and that's okay. Like giving her the regeneration powers but also making them necessary because her skin or bone structure is weak like a real axolotl's, which would make her not very suited to brute force situations but that's fine because if she were perfect for speed and stealth and also brute force then it wouldn't give room for conflict or growth in your story. Forcing her to work around her weaknesses is one of those things that could make her stronger--make her more aware of herself or her surroundings or her limits or what she's willing to sacrifice (like Izuku in the entrance exam--can she afford to break her bones if it meant saving someone?) but it doesn't make the weaknesses go away, and working past those weaknesses isn't going to invalidate that they exist. She's not going to win every time--that would be boring wouldn't it?--and you need to give her ways to lose as well as ways she can triumph.
(A good example of this, and this is the first thing that popped into my mind even though it's not MHA, is Edward Elric from FMA. He's the main character so of course he wins a lot and he's tough and cool and seems like he's so strong. But the most prominent moments in the story are when his prosthetic arm/leg don't work, or he loses them, and he still fights but he's disabled but he's fully aware of this, and having abilities to work through the fights when he's missing an arm doesn't mean he's forgotten that he's missing an arm or that he never needed it to win. It means he found a way to work around those weaknesses and still achieve his goal.)
I kinda lost track of the original question/thought here, but to round back to it--when your character is injured, the adrenaline rush to fight longer or get to safety? That should be all her, that's character traits and determination and strength of will, not part of her quirk. She doesn't need some superpowered adrenaline rush to be part of her quirk, and you don't need to make her "able to battle" if she's not suited for it, unless that's one of her goals (while foregoing the other potentials her powers have--if she's aiming to fight villains face to face, then she's probably not focused on rescuing people or rounding around for a sneak attack, and in that kind of situation she should leave that up to real rescue/response heroes while she's playing distraction and keeping the villains' focus on her!) and if being able to battle ISN'T her main focus, then in a situation where she HAS to, you can make her struggle and that just makes her all the more real and interesting. You can make her get help from her classmates, or you can make her fight and lose and realize she's not suited for battle and switch focus (if it was her original focus) or realize she needs a plan to deal with that in the future while still staying true to her actual goal (if she wanted to focus on rescue for example, and she had to fight a front-line battle and she realizes she's not great at it, then maybe her strategy can just be to run and get a strike in here or there but the ultimate goal is to wait for help and backup to arrive in that case).
That was a lot so I hope it was useful and not too rambly but remember that these are just suggestions! I was just talking ^_^;;
in the midst of a battle w/ members of LoV, pro-hero ground zero save a rookie journalist who LITERALLY threw himself middle of all the chaos to grab photos & after yelling at the ignorant fuck, katsuki doesn't think he'll see him again but then HE SEES HIM EVERYWHERE. his name is midoriya izuku & he has some sort of death wish really bc katsuki keep finding him in the middle of all these hero vs villains battles and ONE TIME he tackled down a villain right???? and he doesnt even have a fucking quirk & yet he is seemingly unafraid of everything.
needless to say, katsuki is v smitten bc the litle awkward death defying shit. also, anyone who accidentally send katsuki to the hospital several times a month bc he keep getting into trouble and katsuki have to come rescue him and THEN YELLING AT KATSUKI FOR INTERFEARING W/ HIS JOB – may be katsuki’s true love.
katsuki get so fucking rile up at this quirkless man, who shown no fear and easily go toe to toe w/ him and yet is so incredibly humble and hilariously awkward, he is just into this badass idiot who is entirely devoted to his job and cursed w/ severe stubborn???? feels relatable. so yea, katsuki ofc taps that ass right the fuck away bc he knows a good one when he sees it bc izuku is indirectly responsible for three broken ribs after katsuki had pulled him out of ANOTHER TROUBLING SITUATION. he's a trouble magnet and shit-stirrer and katsuki's heart is moved.
so they start dating and it goes SO WELL. izuku still get in major shitstorm for his job and katsuki still drags him out of it w/ a few bruise here and there, but afterward they go grab a bite and crash at each other place. super romantic and sweet and it's so v good. but!!! there's something weird about izuku. he doesn't talk much about his family, to katsuki anyway. BUT HE'S SUPER CLOSE TO THEM. his parents seem to call him daily and he go visit them often, but he never bring his parents up to katsuki esp his dad & izuku kinda got a stalker??
it's not like katsuki didn't notice right away, but HE THOUGHT IT WAS HIS STALKER. one of his super creepy fans probably but nope this person only tails izuku and when katsuki tell him about it, izuku is like, 'oh that's just toga'. apparently, izuku knows his talker v v well. the stalker apparently is sent by izuku's father to watch out & protect izuku and katsuki pauses bc who the fuck does a journalist who lives on takeouts and shitty cable TVs need a bodyguard?!!! so yea katsuki's new bf background is fucking weird and mysterious.
katsuki has his agency dig into izuku's background (not that they hadn't vet izuku's before for katsuki's safety) but they comb through the archives and izuku's history and it's comes out v v v v clean, sparkling even. honestly, katsuki doesn't know WTF IS UP W/ HIS NEW BF. so he confront izuku about his weirdo stalker/bodyguard, his avoidance about his family & his dad in particular, and his eerie squeaky AND CLEARLY SCRIPTED papertrails. izuku get shifty eyes and is like, "you won't believe me." And katsuki says tersely, "fucking try me."
Izuku drops his gaze to the floor and says, finally, "my dad is the leader of the league of villains." and YEA, KATSUKI'S BRAIN SHUT DOWN FOR SEC bc his deku?? stupid suicidal stubborn bleeding heart deku??? FUCK NO. but izuku just nods his head and grimaces. the LoV is the largest criminal org in the world w/ long list of crimes & longer list of criminals that make its their home. their roster are made up of terrifying people w/ dangerous quirks... and IZUKU, quirkless and softhearted izuku is the leader's most precious son. the idea itself is COMPLETELY ABSURD! HOW does that ever make sense? izuku is a civilian who works normal if a bit dangerous job & doesn't seem to have any *evil* inclinations at all yet he hail from the worst kind of genetic source possible. maybe he's just faking it all along.
which made katsuki absolutely furious that izuku might been some kind of sleeper agent from the LoV sent to trick spy & kill him or something and izuku's eyes wide, immediately protests, "no, no, i swear! i dont have anything to do w/ my fathers... org." but katsuki has a hard time accepting it esp with the truth bomb thrown at his feet now that he realizes HE'S DATING THE ONLY SON OF EVIL OF THE MOST VILE CRIMINAL IN THE WORLD. so yea, he walks out on izuku, saying he need some space & izuku was looking so heartbroken as he left
for the next few days, katsuki stews in his thought. he doesn't tell anyone about what he had found out, but he doesn't contact izuku either. This last for couple of weeks until, one day just as he in the middle of patrol there's some commotion that attract his teams and katsuki is separated from them. he's cornered by several LoV members, outnumbered five to one and katsuki lost his comms in the ensuring scuffles but instead of kicking his ass bc well they're foes, one of them break ranks toga (the blood queen) approach him w/ a bloodthirsty grin & a knife pointing toward him.
"hey, pretty boy," she coos w/ a flicker of edge, "stop ignoring our young master! you made him cried & he won't come out of his room. I hate seeing him so upset bc Izuku-chan should always be smiling! if you dont fix this ill rip your hide from your bones and wear it as a cape."
the group behind her make various grunt of agreement, all promising him death and disembowelment for... apparently breaking izuku's heart. katsuki is so outrage that he nearly explodes on the spot bc these dumbass villains think they CAN BLACKMAL/THREATEN HIM?! HIM, GROUND ZERO?! also, even more furious by the fact that they insuate that HE BROKE UP WITH IZUKU?! wtf, he never said that!! needing space meant just a temporary break s he gets his bearing on wut to do next... but not like a perma break, but izuku's ppl thought their relationship ended.
katsuki is even more offended by that notion bc izuku is even a bigger idiot than he thought. HOW could someone that much of crybaby over just temp break is some manipulative coldhearted spy?? right now his instinct says, izuku is telling the truth. he isn't tricking katsuki.
izuku is seemingly sweet, humble, & awkward but he got that rebellious streak a mile wide. loud in his opinions & shit-stirrer by choice, he faces down villains & heroes alike like they're on equal ground even though izuku is defenseless. he respect the law but only when it applies. katsuki has never seen such a fucking firecracker like izuku who loves people & the world but have little respect for any gov entity or laws and think they're good only when they're helping ppl but otherwise they're abritary (lmao). he such chaotic force for good it's hilarious. so yea, he believes that izuku is the SON OF AFO now bc that lil shit is a menace. A GOOD MENACE, but still a goddamn menace. he seems to stay firmly on the side of 'good' as it is which make his relationship with his villain father a fucking mystery & headache for katsuki.
so katsuki, gritting his teeth, clichely demands the LoV group to take him to their leader so he can verbally kick his bf's ass for keeping his fucked up secrets and stupidly mistaken that they're broken up. the group happily ties up him and blindfolds him bc well SECRET LAIR. katsuki is crazy, ok. like, STUPIDLY CRAZY to go blindly and no backups w/ some of the worst villains in history so he can meet up w/ his stupid bf and his crazy father. he could end up dead tmr or some shit bc it all could have been a trick to lure him in w/ his guard down but if izuku can be an idiot for dating a hero when he's a son of a villain than KATSUKI CAN BE A BIGGER IDIOT FOR GOING TO MEET HIS BF'S VILLANIOUS FATHER AT HIS SECRET TORTURE FORTRESS OR SOME SHIT. love can make ppl dumb and they're both a perfect example of it.
so katsuki get blindfolded and escorted to the LoV hq and it's a suprisingly sweet ride to there. no bumps, no abuse, no torture shit going on. he get offer food and drink and it's FUCKING WEIRD. his kidnappers start some casual convo w/ him about izuku and his job of all things. they even joke about how katsuki arrested one of them one time and almost kill another THE OTHER TIME & it's all happy bs??? it's even worst than torture. katsuki just want this to end already!! eventually they arrive and katsuki is let out. he get inside & his blindfold is off.
it's... nothing like he expected. it's traditional japanese house w/ sprawling garden, koi ponds, & beautiful woods. it's pristine, homey, and terribly normal. "ha, you thought we were going to take you to some kind of evil lair, right?" twice says, grinning bc he's an ass. "that's next time! we save that for official bsn." he jabs Katsuki's in the shoulder playfully. "you're meeting sensei and the mistress so of course it got to be at their house and not the 'office'."
katsuki's hands start twitching like he's going to explode someone or something but he's quickly drag away before he could do anything about it. lead through some hallways before depositing inside a tearoom where there's a SHIT TON of pics of baby!izuku & his childhood accolades on the wall. this look less like a room to greet visitors but to show off izuku. just as katsuki goes to examine a cute pic of bb!izuku playing in a field of flowers & holding one up towrad the camera, the doors slide open and a couple walk in. one of them is an older woman who looks eerily like izuku and the young woman also ft. in many of the wall pics.
she smiles warmly at and goes to greet him right away. "hi, bakugou-kun! welcome to our home, i'm inko, Izuku's mother," she introduces herself. while she's a source of happy energy and warmth, the other man beside her is another story. he gives katsuki's an icy stare. katsuki already knows who he is before he even say anything. AFO looks younger in comparison to his reported age, notably handsome, and he carries himself like some warlord from the warring periods.
"I should kill you," is the first thing he says. "my son should only cry in joy, over his terrible taste in romantic media consumption, & dumber things." spoken like a man who dealt with midoriya walking crying machine izuku his entire life and also a hopelessly devoted father.
"hisashi!" inko scolds. which is strange to katsuki bc he didn't even think AFO even have a name but in front of him isn't some evil man who mastermind gov't take over & ruin so many ppl lives but astupid father overprotected of his son.
"but i won't," AFO admits regretfully. "Izuku would be even more sad and if you're dead your death will haunt him needlessly more. he won't be able to forget you and move on." he frowns, like he actually had CONSIDER THAT ROUTE DEEPLY before casting that idea aside.
What the fuck, katsuki thought and says exactly that, "what the fuck. there's something seriously wrong with you," he points out what he think is v obvious.
AFO shrugs. "I love my son. He's my-" Inko's frown and he clears his throat, "our most precious treasure and we do everything to ensure his happiness. do you understand us, bakugou katsuki? inko and i have raise with love and care for 20yrs and i won't have some rough neck capers try to destroy his smile. i dont care who you are or wut you can do bc i can put you ten feet under w/ a snap of my fingers & nobody will be able to save you but like i said i won't."
Katsuki grind his teeth, fists clenched at his side, before lowering his head. this isnt time to fight, they're not on the field & on the job. this isnt about their respective stance on moral superiority but izuku. izuku is why they're both here. "i came here for him. i want to fix it," he says. "just let me see him." he pauses & grimaces like the taste of whatever he say next disgust him. "please."
AFO frowns, staring at katsuki for a beat, two. like he can pull apart katsuki's motives and tears into his rib to see w/e make him tick. "fine," he waves katsuki away, "you may see him now but if he cry anything beside in happiness i'll have your head and your entire agency." it's not a threat. it's a warning lace with truth that katsuki has no doubt he will carry out if a single tear slip pass izuku and fall.
inko claps her hand happily. "great, i'm glad you guys are geting along so well!" she says, like threats of murder haven't been thrown at his feet. clearly, she's used to the fact that her husband is a completely psychopath and whipped for their son. this fucking crazy family.
katsuki grunts, not knowing what else to say beside, 'have you ever thought of fucking divorce bc yea maybe you will be less crazy by then' but he holds his tongue bc they're still izuku's parents and he already made a bad impression on them even though technically not his FAULT.
AFO doesn't promise anymore murder in his future but the dark look on his face is enough as inko's lead him out & toward izuku's room. she drops him right outside it and gives him an encouraging smile before heading off, but katsuki has no doubt the parents are lurking around. katsuki sucks in a deep breath before raising his fist and knocks. he hears unhurried footsteps on the other side and slowly the door is slide open.
"Papa, I already said--" izuku whines, and stops as soon as he sees who ACTUALLY on the other side. "K-Katsuki?! What are you--?"
Katsuki blinks, trying to get his fucking brain to grapple with the thought of AFO as 'papa' and his head nearly explode. he drags a hand down his face and once again thinks, THIS FUCKIN' FAMILY. "Look, you idiot," he starts in lieu of any answer. "We didn't fucking break up."
Izuku looks haggard, buffy red eyes and the dark circle under it, speaking of how upset he was. he clearly didn't get any good rest these several days they were apart. he lifts an accusatory brow at Katsuki. "you didn't pick up my calls or answer any of my text," he retorts.
Katsuki rolls his eyes. "what part of I needed space, time to think didn't you get?" he snaps back. "It didn't mean go cry and sulk your parent's home like a damn coward because you were too dumb to think of anything beside we may have broken up!"
"But--but," Izuku's lips wobble and katsuki nearly jump out of his skin bc jfc don't cry here or i'll be skinned alive, "i was scared that you really mean it! that's why i didn't want to tell you in the first place bc then you wouldn't want to have anything to do w/ me."
Katsuki sighs, a bone deep tired sigh. "Now, why would you think i would have any problem with dating the son of my nemesis?" he says dryly. Izuku's brows furrow. "All Might is Papa's nemesis," he unhelpfully point out. "I don't think Papa even knew you existed until we dated."
Katsuki scowls. "that's not the fucking point," he shouts, temper rising w/ every word. "Your dad is the fucking boogieman who wants to sow discord in the world & it's my job to catch him &lock away for good. Do you see my moral crisis over this when im dating his beloved son?!"
"I-" Izuku's face falls, "dont you think I dont know that? I've lived with him for over 20yrs, I know exactly what he's capable of." he looks away. "But, he's my Papa & im terrible for still choosing him over the world. So," izuku says solemnly. "i dont expect the same from you."
Katsuki grits his teeth and steps right into izuku's space, up in his face. "Look, im only going to say this once so listen the fuck up," he starts. "I like you. A lot. Stupidly. Gods know why when you drive me up the fucking wall all the time, but here I am standing before you."
"A lot, huh?" Lips twitching, Izuku's eyes go soft.
Katsuki scowls. "Dont make me repeat myself, but yes fucking a lot that your fucking groupies & your old man threatened to kill me several times over did not deter me from coming here," he says, hand cradling Izuku's cheek.
"It's because I'm dating you and not your father. Whatever crimes he'd commited is not on you, you don't have to carry his sins," he tells Izuku, leaning in to press a kiss too fast and fleeting on izuku's forehead. "just stay true to yourself and i'll fucking deal with it."
Izuku's close his eyes and lets out a shaky exhales, the air of relief that passes through him is shuddering. "Ok, ok," he murmurs, opening his eyes to look at katsuki. there's a twinkle in them as he smiles, soft and sweet, the kind you can stupidly drunk on & never let go.
In that hazy moment, katsuki thinks, AFO doesn't need to plan any premeditated murder in case things go v wrong bc this is how he'll die w/ izuku's smile right in his front his eyes, cutting him down one curve lips at a time. Fuck, he's just as whipped for izuku as AFO.
it's good that izuku not a fucking psychopath like his father bc this would have gone v v v wrong. izuku would make a terrifying villain. Worse than his own father bc it's not fear & intimidation that will get ppl to follow him but izuku's own magnetic personality that move them.
"don't ever become a villain, ok?" katsuki insists suddenly, grabbing his shoulder tightly.
"where did that come from?" izuku laughs, eyes crinkling. "And dont worry, papa had tried. many, many times but i haven't turn over to the darks ide if that's what you worry about."
"Good," katsuki says firmly, and thinks the world better for it. one less crazy midoriya to raise hell. izuku is trouble enough as it is when katsuki thought he was just a quirkless journalist w/ a death wish but now there's a chance he could go rouge any moment and--yea. no.
"Sooo," izuku says, bouncing on his heels. "are we back together now?"
katsuki flicks him on the forehead. "we never broke up in the first place, you dolt."
izuku grins and suddenly throws his arm around katsuki. "ah, i miss you so much kacchan!!!" he declares excitedly.
and after they made up, katsuki interrogate izuku about wtf is wrong w/ his father bc how did AFO of all ppl get a villain son who isn't all about /that/ kind of bsn he's in. turns out izuku always have a healthy regard for heroes so he never thought of joining his father's organization. though AFO would have been super happy to take izuku in bc izuku is terrifyingly clever & resourceful but he lets izuku go & do his thing anyway. they just mutually agree not to talk shop when it's family, keeping their jobs outside &not in the home to keep both of their sanity.
so izuku knows shit about the 'family bsn' except wut everyone knows bc he's not involve with any of that and in his everyday job as a journalist izuku often times clash w/ his father AND expose some of his schemes bc it's part of his job & he doesn't shy away from it. AFO wasn't upset at all having his plans ruin by his own son. nope. he was SUPER PROUD OF IZUKU!!! to able to accomplish such thing on his own even if it's against him lol. but izuku is still his father's so so he doesn't take on just AFO, other villains, & dark org. he takes on the gov't, hero association, and even other heroes themselves if he ever catches on if they didn't live up to his ideals of being 'proper hero' like all might. he fiercely chases and exposes anything that he deems corrupted and wrong not caring which side they're on.
which makes izuku kind of chaotic good. he acts on his own whims & sense of justice, disregarding all rules & barriers. which is why he admires katsuki so much bc katsuki stands by his rule staunchantly & won't ever move from it, izuku knows katsuki wont ever be sway by the dark. kinda like izuku's father who stands firmly by his belief & does everything to reach his goals. WHICH IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT KATSUKI WANT TO BE COMPARE TO ESP BY A NOTORIOUS VILLAIN LIKE AFO lol. but yea, now that he got izuku's motive and why he's the way he is, it get easier.
they continue dating, izuku continues getting into trouble 120% of the time, katsuki keeps bailing him out, and sometimes IZUKU BAILS HIM OUT bc izuku may be quirkless but he got an army of the world's most terrible villains on his side so yea izuku IS TERRIFYING. and they aren't just dating but they're 100000% serious w/ each other bc now katsuki go to izuku's parents house for dinner every sunday and have to put up with AFO and play nice w/ each other for izuku's sake bc they come ton an understanding they will be IN-LAWS one day lol! their dinner convo is mostly the two of them taking jab at each other bc katsuki trash of AFO's plans or AFO's sends katsuki's ppl to the hospital and got away with it. they never stop being enemy even for izuku bc of where they stand on but mutually agree not to kill each other. they're both fiercely devoted individual who are obsessively workaholic, stubborn, vainglorious, and loves just as much as they breathe for their ppl and though they never agree on anything, this they will agree on bc izuku's happiness is everything to them!!!
Give those two a push, Class 1A!
Summary:
The students of Class 1A are not blind to the fact that their teacher, All Might, is having a bit of a romantic problem. So they decide that it cannot wait any longer... and Aizawa catches them Red-handed.
Notes:
This story was inspired by a fanart I found on pinterest. It was a picture of All Might and Inko walking down a street, All Might holding an umbrella since it raining. In the background, you could see several students of Class 1A watching them, as if they had planed it. So I came up with this idea! Also, anyone agree that Inko should be shown more in the series? After all, isn't she the woman raising humanity's next All Might? AND she's doing it on her own! Share your oppinion in the comments (if you wish).
This is the picture:
"You know, I noticed that All Might was staring at your mom yesterday during the School Meeting, Deku." Urakawa said. "Yeah, I saw that too. It's been going on like that for some time..." the green-haired boy said. "Ooooh, All Might has a love interest!" Mina sing-sang, making some of the students giggle. "Guys, class is about to start." Momo said without looking up from the notebook she was writing on. "Yes, but All Might is in need of a push, don't you think?" Hagakure piped up. There was a short-lived silence. "Are you saying that we should set them up?" Asui asked slowly. "Yeah!" Hagakure said. "Um... is that a good idea?" Midoriya asked, a little doubtful. "Why shouldn't it?" the invisible girl asked cheerfully. "That's what happened to my parents!" "All Might and Deku's Mom are not your parents, though." Iida said. "I agree with Hagakure," Kaminari said. "I think that we should-" "Good morning," Eraserhead swept in through the door, heading straight to his desk. The class instantly fell silent. Had he heard them? "In case you are wondering, yes, I heard you. But I am also tired of having to watch those two dance around each other like moths around a godamn light. So long as you don't do anything stupid, like setting a fire so that All Might can rescue her or something, I will allow this to go on. And if they find out, don't tell them about what I just said. Now, let's get started with the lesson." The class was shocked and relieved at their teacher's speech. He had heard them, but he was allowing them to give All Might and Inko a little nudge.
"It will rain today," Bubblegirl said, glancing up at the sky. "You should get an umbrella, Mirio. I can lend you one if you want." "Thanks!" Mirio replied cheerfully. "Come, Eri." Bubblegirl gave him an umbrella and he and Eri left the agency just as the first drops of rain began to fall. "We will take the train to the shopping mall. What do you think, Eri?" Mirio asked the small girl besides him. "Yes!" she replied, giving him a huge, adorable smile. He beamed back at her, leading the way to the train station.
"Aww, shucks. It's raining." Kirishima said as they aproached the main doors. "The sky was clear earlier this morning," Midoriya said, shouldering his backpack. "I didn't bring an umbrella." "Problem solved," Momo said, holding out umbrellas for everyone. "Wow! Thanks, sempai!" Urakawa said, taking one. "So... anyone know what we will do about Inko and All Might?" "Well, my mother said that she was going to the mall... I could get All Might to come too?" Midoriya suggested. "Smart! And then, you guys meet her and then we will come and you can tell them that you will be with us." Mina said with a bright smile. "I can tag after them closely since I am invisible," Hagakure said. "Ooooh, that's a good idea!" Ojiro said, his tail wagging. "I will come because I need to get more soba anyways." Todoroki said quietly (truth was, he was also curious about how it would turn out...). "I will too!" Mina said. Soon, Urakawa, Iida, Ojiro, Mina, Hagakure, Todoroki, Kirishima, Jiro, Tsuyu, Momo and Bakugou (whom Deku had managed to drag along in some miraculous way) were heading for the mall. Sato, Aoyama, Denki, Sero, Tokoyami, Mineta, Shoji and Koda already had plans for the evening. Midoriya went back into the school, umbrella clutched in his right hand, and ran into All Might himself, crashing painfully to the floor. "Midoriya, my boy!" All Might said with surprise. "I didn't see you coming! Are you alright?" "Yup." Midoriya said, tears of pain stinging his eyes. All Might helped him to his feet. "Where you going home?" All Might asked. "No. Actually, I was looking for you. Would you like to come with me to the mall? I need to get some new clothes, and my mother is not free today..." Midoriya said. "Well, I don't have anything else to do today and I could do with a walk. Problem is, I haven't got an umbrella." All Might replied. "We can just share mine..." he said, holding his up. "All right then. Shall we get going?" Al Might asked, pulling on his jacket.
The two of them exited the school and headed for the train station. Many people stared at All Might, and there was a great deal of muttering and pointing as they walked past, but not hostile. After all, he had once been the world's number 1 hero before his fight with All for One. Soon the two of them were entering the shoping mall, which was less crowded than usual due to the rain outside. Midoriya spotted Ojiro sitting on a bench next to the fountain placed in the center of the mall. His fellow friend gave him a subtle thumbs up. Midoriya replied with a tiny nod to show he understood. His phone pinged and he fished it out of his pockets. It was a text from Iida: Localitation of your mother has been found. She is on the second floor, about to use the elevator. Hagakure is sneaking in with her. it read. "Anything wrong, my boy?" All Might asked. Midoriya pocketed the phone. "Nah. Let's go up to the second floor. I heard there's a good shop up there..."
The two of them walked up to the elevator. Midoriya pressed the button and both waited patiently. Then the doors opened to reveal Inko standing inside the elevator, carrying two shoping bags. She stepped outside and noticed the other two. "Oh! Izuku! All Might!" she said with a laugh, "You nearly gave me a heart attack." "My apologies, Miss Inko." All Might said, keeping his conposture. Midoriya didn't miss the faint blush that colored his sharp cheek bones. He made his amused smile into a cheerful, innocent one. "Ha ha, Mom! I didn't expect to find you here!" he said. He felt a tiny nudge on his hand and knew it was Hagakure. "Neither did I. What are you two doing here?" Inko asked. "I was going to go by some clothes. I invited All Might along since you weren't available and he agreed because he didn't have anything to do for the rest of the afternoon." Mirodiya explained. "Well then, I shouldn't keep the two of you," Inko said, adjusting her grip on her bags. "Hey! Midoriya! Watcha doing here?!" they all turned to see Kirishima runing towards them. "Bakugou, Denki and I are gonna go to Virgin and see if we can get some suppost items for Denki. Wanna come?" "Sure!" Midoriya said. Then he looked at the other two adults. "If that's fone with the two of you…?" "Of course, Izuku. All Might, uh, would you like coffee or something else...?" Inko asked. "I could do with some tea." he said, giving Midoriya a look that seemed to say We will speak about this later. "Okay! I will see you later, then!" Midoriya said with a wave, walking after Kirishima. "Did you see him blush? I saw him blush!" Hagakure said with a giggle, "I've never seen All Might blush! I should have taken a picture of it... The media would go crazy within days!" "Better leave it as it is. I don't think All Might would like it." Kirishima said. The turned a corner to find the others waiting for them. "So? How was it?" Mina asked. "I think he suspects, but they are gonna have a snack or something." Midoriya said. "This is so fun!" Urakawa said with a laugh. "It feels like we are doing a super secret mission!" "Well, we better move or we will loose them!" Hagakure said. "Come on, class!" Iida said, walking out of their corner. The others quickly followed. "I think we should split into groups or we might get found. Bakugou, Kirishima, Tsuyu and Mina, you guys could be one group. Urakawa and Jiro. Todoroki and Iida could be another. I will be with Ojiro and Deku. Hagakure, you tag along close behind them." Momo said. "I think she already did..." Jiro said. There was a short silence. "Yup. Let's get moving!" Kirishima said excitedly. They all split ways, heading in different directions but all walking down the same way and looking as innocent as they could. Todoroki and Iida went into the café that All Might and Inko where in and took seats on a table not too far from them, looking at the two adults over the newspapers they were using as face shields.
All Might and Inko sat at a table, unaware that they were being monitored by Class 1A's students. They had just finished ordering their drinks (All Might had ordered black tea and Inko had gotten a latte). "I am sure that you and I both know what this is all about, right?" Inko quietly asked All Might. "I've know Izuku ever since he was born, after all..." "I apologize for this." All Might said, cheeks slightly pink (Hagakure placed her hands firmly over her mouth to stiffle the giggle that was craling up her throat. She couldn't believe it was going so well!). "It's fine. They are kids after all..." Inko said with a little wave of her hand. "But, uh, I didn't expect them to... well..." the two of them fell into an awkward silence. They were rescued by the arrival of their drinks. All Might focused on sipping at his, trying to keep his face free from any emotion that could betray his nervousness and unease.
"I feel like we might have to wait for something to happen," Ojiro quietly told Momo and Mirodiya. "They know our intentions!" Hagakure whispered, making the three of them jump. "Uh... is that bad…?" Mirodiya whispered. "They are mostly awkward." the invisible girl said. "I'm going to go see what they are speaking about." Several minutes passed before she returned. "They are talking about school. They seem a little more comfortable around each other. That's good, right?" "Yes. Go keep an eye on them." Momo replied. "Deku, what are you-?" Mirodiya had his phone to his ear. The heard All Might's ringtone suddenly blast ("YOU HAVE A CAAAAAAAALLLLL-- "). All Might stood and excused himself for a minute or so.
"WhAT Is THe MEanInG oF THiS, MIDoRiyA?! " All Might hissed. "Uh..." "I know what this is all about, so don't deny that you and whoever else is with you are trying to set Inko and I in a date!"  "Um..." "Midoriya?! 'Um' is not an anwser to my question!" "Look... just... get to know her. And it wasn't only us, you know. Aizawa sensei also-" "What?" "Don't get mad at him!" Midoriya quickly said. "We just-" "Just give me that," his phone was ripped out of his hands by Bakugou, "What Deku here is trying to kindly tell you is just fucking get over with it because they are all fucking bored of whatever is keeping you and Deku's mother appart. " he then ended the call. "Kachan!" Midoriya gasped. Bakugou shoved his phone back into hks hands. "Sometimes you have to get to the godamn point, idiot." he said. Moments later, Kirishima, Mina and Tsuyu ran up to them. "We tried to stop him," Mina panted. "It's okay-" "Guys! Look!" Tsuyu said. They all turned their heads to All Might and Inko's table. They were talking in low voices, All Might ocasionally chuckling and shaking his head. Soon they had finished their drinks, All Might paying for them. Then they watched them as they walked out of the café's terrace, talking. "Come on!" Iida said as he and Todoroshi left their table. Soon they were all sneaking after them. "What happened? All Might looked kinda agitated back there..." Urakawa asked Midoriya. "I called him in the phone and then Kachan took it from me and told him his thoughts." Midoriya replied. "Ah..." Jiro said with a quiet laugh.
"They are going outside," Todoroki said. "I will make raincoats for everyone." Momo said. Within moments, they were following the two adults, dressed in raincoats. Hagakure was also wearing one, not keen on getting wet in the freezing cold rain. Midoriya felt like a spy from a mission impossible movie as they all snuck after All Might, who held Midoriya's umbrella, and Inko, keeping themselves at a safe distance. Some of them, like Iida and Mina, actually hid behind bushes. "What are you all doing out here?" Midoriya jumped at Mirio's voice. He had been walking hand in hand with Eri, a black umbrella shielding the two of them from the rain. "We are matchma-" Kirishima began to say, but he was cut off by Mina. "They are kissing!" she squealed in the quietest way possible. They all looked at All Might and Inko, who had their faces half-hidden by the umbrella. But they couldn't miss the kiss. Bakugou shot into full view and before anyone could stop him- "FUCKING FINALLY!!!" he shouted at them. Kirishima pulled him behind a wall and everyone except Mirio and Eri ducked into hiding before All Might and Inko could spot them. Mirio shrugged at them. "Mission complete!" Iida whispered. They all silently whooped their victory.
Notes:
I was actually laughing by the ending at Bakugou's outburst XD ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Midorynyah au
In this Deku ends up getting his quirk at 5, waking up one day to discover cat ears and a tail
*bursts throuh door* “MOM HOLY FUCK”
Excited, he runs to tell Kacchan “look look! I have a quirk!!!” but Kacchan doesn’t think it’s that impressive. Definitely not cute at all....SHUT UP DEKU
As he grows Deku gets more and more cat-like tendencies (the day he woke up from a nap at school with a ‘mrrrp?’ was the day Kacchan died) but doesn’t really have claws or fangs or anything, making him still seem useless to everyone. He still gets picked on by Kacchan but it’s less bullying and more ‘I have a crush and I don’t know how to emote anything other than anger’
Inko is a little more protective of her baby in this au bc a kitten can easily be killed (deep down....she wishes Izuku had remained quirkless)
All this means that Izuku sees his quirk as useless cuz what’s the point of having a quirk if he can’t use it to help people?
So the day he gets attacked by the sludge villain, he still asks all might “CAN I BE A HERO EVEN IF MY QUIRK IS USELESS?”
Listen, I love Toshiniri but that boi needs a good smack for replying the way he did the hypocrite
A little heart broken, Deku wanders until he finds the sludge villain attacking “Kacchan!?” and something within our resident sunshine child s n a p s
a small, cute cat boy charges toward the villian, every step landing harder than the last, until he hunches forward on front legs that don’t look human anymore, tail lengthening behind him and head bowed
The blur of green and black barrels though the villain, landing with the kid in his jaws. He carries him like a mother cat would her kitten over to a wall, stand over his rescue, and Roars
Crouched over the no longer captured boy, is a large panther
Or well, a panther-like werecreature
All might comes in and captures the villain again, and the other heroes try to get close to the two boys(?) but pause at the low, terrifying growling that starts up
“Deku u shit nerd I’m fine lemme go already! Shit”
Deku chirps at Kacchan before giving him a quick nuzzle, a little too feral to understand that he can step down now
Kacchan bullies his way up and away, leaving a pouting and whining werepanther trailing after him
After a while, Deku finally calms down enough to change back, only kinda remembering what happened (Kacchan is embarrassed that his crush THE SHITNERD had to rescue him. Him! There’s no way in fuck he’s gonna explain shit to the idiot)
Toshinori still offers one for all to Deku who still accepts it then idk something else
TA DA my dumb cat!izuku au that isn’t really fleshed out or anything really I just couldn’t get this scene outta my head :P
Chapter 2/2 of The Big Three
read it on ao3 here
“Wow, it sure took you guys a while to get changed!” Midoriya waved enthusiastically as the current Class 1-A entered the training area. “So, who are you fighting? Bakugou or Todoroki?”
“It better be me,” Kacchan snarled. “I’ve been itching for a good fight.”
“No one in their right mind would have chosen you ,” Shouto said under his breath.
“Actually, Problem Child,” Aizawa said with a smile that had alarm bells going off in Izuku’s head screaming logical ruse incoming! . “It was a unanimous decision that they would be fighting you.”
“WHAT?” Bakugou yelled, explosions going off.
“Me?” Izuku stutters. He’s sure his face is a bright, flaming red. “They don’t want to fight Kaachan? Or what about Todoroki?”
Aizawa shakes his head. “They all wanted to fight you .”
“This is bullshit,” Bakugou spits. “If the nerd doesn’t want to fight, let me do it!” The angry boy whirls on him, and he automatically takes a step back, hands raised. “You don’t want to do it, right shitty Deku?”
“No, let Izuku do it,” Shouto comes to his rescue.
“Fine,” Bakugou grumbles. “Show these twerps whose boss.”
The twerps in question look apprehensive as Izuku hesitantly shrugs off his jacket, their eyes tracking as he folds it and places it on the sidelines.
“What’s with the arm thing?” One of the girls asks, eyes drawn to the black sleeve on Izuku’s right arm. “Is it support gear?”
“It’s none of your business,” Todoroki snaps.
The girl freezes in fear, and Izuku gives her a gentle smile. “It’s ok, I don’t mind.” He turns to his boyfriend. “And while I appreciate it, Shouto, don’t bite their heads off. They’re young.”
Shouto frowns. “You almost died.”
“ What !” The class exclaims.
Izuku looks to Aizawa for permission, and at the man’s nod, he slides the sleeve off. He hates the way the scar looks - ugly and twisted, skin marred and raised. It covers the whole top of his arm with faint lines trailing down. Even after all these years, it’s red and raw instead of white.
“Holy shit,” he hears one of the first years whisper.
“Not pretty, right?” He smiles self-deprecatingly. “Our first year, the training camp run by the Wild Wild Pussycats was attacked by the League of Villains, which I’m sure you all heard about. Mandalay’s nephew was attacked by the villain Muscular, and I was the only one fast enough to get there. ”
The girl from before bows. “I’m sorry,” she whispers, eyes on the ground. “He gave you that scar.”
“Azuma, stand up,” Aizawa says. “Problem Child did that to himself.”
“Wait,” the boy with wings interjects, shifting his weight from talon to talon. “Now I’m confused.”
“This,” he says, sliding the sleeve back on, “is what happens when you don’t know your limits. My quirk came in late, because if I got it any sooner I probably would have blown my arms off. Even then, I broke a lot of bones my first year.
I knew the risks, but I couldn’t have beaten that villain without using my power at over 100% when my body couldn’t even handle 20. I’m extremely lucky my arm is still functional. So,” he smiles, “Let this be a lesson in self-restraint.”
“Dude,” a girl with white hair says. “That’s so badass.”
“Thank you, Problem Child, for that lesson in self-control,” Aizawa flops on the ground, yellow sleeping bag cocooned around him. “Wake me up when it’s over.”
“Yes sir!” Izuku grins.
Aizawa mutters something about eye damage then promptly rolls over and falls asleep. The Class 1-A students spread out, dividing themselves into groups. The boy with wings takes to the air, flapping gently to keep himself hovering as he instructs his classmates.
So that’s the leader , Izuku thinks. Right now, he’s the basis of their strategy. They don’t really seem to be objecting, meaning they’re used to following his plans. Which means . . .
One For All thrums beneath his skin, green lightning flashing as he activates Full Cowl. The nerves of presenting in front of fellow students are gone, replaced by the familiar rush of adrenaline and the beating of his own heart. “Come at me,” he grins, and the fight begins in earnest.
The close range fighters charge. An abnormally long arm shoots for him, and he twists, letting it rocket past his head and embed in the stone behind him. Izuku grabs the arm and flips himself up, settling into a kneeling position before launching himself into a flip like a swimmer off a diving board.
He lands behind the four students, one still trying to get his arm out of the concrete. Izuku sweeps low, knocking out the kid's legs and he goes down hard, arm trapped.
“Make sure you always know your surroundings!” He says, dancing under a punch before sliding between the legs and aiming a well placed kick to the side. “You want to be careful that your quirk is always an advantage and not a hindrance. Always have a plan!”
“Fall back!” The winged kid shouts, and the remaining two close range fighters comply. He can’t obviously tell what their quirks are, but he doesn’t have to. Although they’re not bad, they still don’t have the same close-knit teamwork his class did in their first year, forced onto them from surviving villain attack after villain attack, every event a fight for their lives.
Izuku is thankful for what that means, even if it is hurting them right now.
“Oi, Deku, hurry this the hell up!” Kaachan shouts. “We have patrol later!”
Izuku huffs. “I am trying to teach them, not just beat them up.”
Time for action. He activates Float, taking him into the air until he’s parallel with the winged boy. Without giving him time to react, he sends Black Whip snaking out, wrapping around his wings and immobilizing him, pulling him to the ground. The darkness winds around the kid’s limbs and mouth, gagging him and stopping him from communicating.
As Izuku predicted, the class falls apart.
Some kids lunge at him, attacks sloppy and predictable, which he dodges with ease, using Propel to maneuver himself through the teenagers with ease.
The sky above him darkens, and he looks up to see a massive cloud. The girl with the white hair is hovering, arms outstretched and palms glowing.
“You may be a badass,” she grins, “but you’re not the only one with a little lightning.”
His eyes widen and he shoots himself forward into a roll. The lightning arcs down besides him, cracking the pavement.
“That’s so cool!” He gushes as he Propel flips him to his feet. “Can you summon any sort of weather, or just lightning? What’s your voltage limit?”
A tail wooshes over his head as he ducks, grabbing on to the appendage and spinning twice before launching the poor student into his fellow classmates like a bowling ball.
Strike! Izuku thinks victoriously.
From that point on, it’s easy to use Black Whip to make quick work of anyone still standing and restrain those he’s already taken out. In under five minutes, the entirety of Class 1-A is sitting in a pile in the center of the training ground, bound by Izuku’s second quirk and utterly helpless.
“Aizawa-sensei,” the boy with wings calls, squirming uncomfortably from where the appendages were pinned to his back. “We’re done.”
The yellow sleeping bag rolls over, and the exhausted face of Aizawa peers out through a mat of tangled hair.
“That was fast,” the teacher remarks dryly, shamelessly using the wall to lever himself into a sitting position. “I was hoping my nap would be longer.”
Midoriya grimaces. “Sorry, Aizawa-sensei.” He releases Black Whip and starts helping first years to their feet. “School is almost over, though!”
A cold hand lands on his shoulder and he yelps. “Shouto!”
His boyfriend laughs. “I thought Bakugou was having a conniption.”
“I can fucking hear you, Icy-Hot,” Kaachan snaps from somewhere behind him. The blonde stalks forward until the three of them are standing side-by-side. “Good job, shitty Deku, or whatever. You beat Togata’s time in dealing with us, that’s for fucking sure.”
“So,” Aizawa drawls, looking entirely too pleased with himself at the outcome. “What lessons have we learned from this? Sando.”
The boy with wings bristles. “We need to work on our team work,” he says finally. “It was sloppy, unrefined, disjointed, and absolute shit .”
Kaachan snorts. “Damn right.”
“Against a powerhouse like Midoriya,” he continues, “We were completely helpless once the original plan fell apart.”
“We couldn’t even touch him!” the white-haired girl groans. “Dude, is precognition one of your quirks or something?”
“Yeah, how come you only used three?”
“What are the other ones?”
“Can you show us?”
“You’re so cool!”
“Um,” Izuku steps back, a little overwhelmed.
“One at a time, don’t harass the Problem Child,” Aizawa seems resigned to his fate. “Sando, you’re correct in your assessment - the teamwork was terrible. For the next month, we’ll be doing joint exercises with Class 1-B in order to improve that.”
Groans.
“But,” Aizawa continues, logical ruse smile back in full force. He’s not even Izuku’s teacher anymore, and it’s still terrifying. “Depending on how well you do, I’ll give you another go at Midoriya. He did, after all,” now the smile is directed at him , shit, “only use three of his quirks.”
The girl with white hair breaks away from the rest of the cheering first years and makes a beeline for him. “My name is Morita,” she says. “My quirk is Weather.” Her face goes very red all of the sudden, previous confidence disappearing. “Canyoupleasetrainme?”
“Uh,” Izuku says, bewildered. Is that what his muttering sounds like? “I’m sorry, I didn’t really catch that.”
She takes a deep breath. “I said, can you please train me?”
“What?” Izuku squacks. Her face falls, and he hastily waves her hands. “It’s not a no, of course I would love to train you, I’m just realized surprised you would want me to train you, that’s all!”
“So you’ll do it?”
He nods, and her face breaks out in a grin. “Sick!” She turns back to the rest of her class. “Hey losers, guess who’s gonna get trained by the future Symbol of Peace? Suck it!”
Class 1-A explodes as Bakugou stills beside him.
“What,” he growls, “did you just call that shitty nerd?”
“Kaachan, calm down.”
“THE FUTURE SYMBOL OF PEACE? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?”
“Down, Bakugou. Good boy.”
“Deku, put a leash on your boyfriend before I explode his face.”
“That’s not very heroic, Kaachan.”
Pausing his attempts to reign in his class, Aizawa groans. “You three never change, do you?”
Some Poorly Timed Confession + Unexpected Virgin coming right up! This was a lot of fun writing lol (ao3 link)
~
“I’m going to die a virgin,” Mineta bemoans as he throws himself down onto the ice, dramatically rolling onto his side and and then back again. “Just when I was getting somewhere with that nice barista, too!”
Katsuki stares at him in disgust, kicking out against Mineta’s leg to walk towards the wall of their little snow cave. They were lucky that they could take shelter behind a large rock just as the avalanche hit.
“You are pathetic,” Jirou comments from behind him, voicing Katsuki’s thoughts.
Ignoring the whines coming from Mineta, Katsuki reaches out to pat the snow, lightly. “Depending on the amount of snow, we might get flooded, if we try to break free.”
“So, we are trapped until help comes from outside?” Ojiro asks, his tail tapping against the ground lightly.
Hearing those words, Mineta starts to thrash around again. “Just blow us out of here! I can’t die like this! Get me out, I have a date tomorrow!”
Katsuki holds his hand up, making small explosions. “If you don’t shut the hell up, I’ll blow your ass up,” Katsuki threatens, to which Mineta immediately falls silent. Good, one problem dealt with.
“No phone connection. We are snowed in. I could try and hear if anyone is close by, but snow isn’t the best conductor for sound, and it numbs my senses.” Jirou shrugs and pockets her phone again. “What were the last updates on Midoriya’s team?”
“The comms cut out when the avalanche hit. But they should have gotten away in time with Uraraka’s quirk.”
Of course their rescue would in Deku’s hands. Katsuki grunts as he sits down on the ground. When Mineta holds his hand up, Katsuki glares but nods anyway.
“So, blow us out,” the clown says.
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“Because this little bubble might collapse in on itself, if he forces his way out,” Ojiro explains, to which Katsuki grunts.
“Then I’m really going to die a virgin.”
“Please shut up, now,” Jirou commands. “God, please let them find us before we freeze enough to huddle together,” she adds.
There is a moment of silence before Mineta says, “It’s really cold, you know. Maybe we should-“
The echoes of no vibrate through the little cave they are in before Mineta can even finish his sentence. At the outright rejection, he throws himself on the ground again and glares. “Just because you all got laid already. Have some sympathy.”
“I would have, if it were anyone but you dying a virgin. You deserve it.” The glare Jirou sends Mineta is lethal. “Scum.”
“Just because I tried sneaking a look once!”
“Every week for three years!”
“If I couldn’t touch, I just wanted to look.”
Before Jirou can reply, Katsuki holds his hand up. “One more word and I’m filing a complaint against you for harassment.”
“I’m not harassing you!”
“You are.”
“Am not.”
Katsuki doesn’t dignify that with a reply so Mineta glares at them all sullenly in reply.
It’s Ojiro who speaks up next, surprising them all. “Now that we might freeze to death… maybe I should have accepted the chance to go to Europe. There is this friend I met, over the net…you know.”
“Was it a girl?” Mineta asks.
This time it’s Ojiro who scoops up some snow from the ground and throws it right at Mineta’s head. “Freezing should be your last worry right now, Mineta.” Then he scoops out some more snow, slowly rolling it into a ball in his hands.
“Here we are, dying and you all are still shitty to me.”
“That should make you think about the reason.”
“She’s is right.”
“She’s also dating Kaminari. I saw them kissing last Friday,” Mineta reveals, spite in every word. “Who said she wouldn’t ever date the idiot when we graduated?”
“You perv fucking spied on us!”
“If you don’t want to get spied on, don’t kiss in hallways!”
“You disgust me.”
“If you open your mouth, I’ll stuff my hand into it,” Katsuki says before Mineta can reply.
Mineta makes a show of closing his mouth, zipping it shut, locking it and slowly throwing the key at him. Katsuki pretends to snap it out of the air. “If you as much as open your mouth before I throw the key back at you, I’ll shovel a way out of this damn hole using your body.”
Mineta gives him the finger, which earns a small laugh from Ojiro.
“Thanks,” Jirou says. Then, twirling her earlobe around her finger, she whispers. “Also, we aren’t dating. We are engaged.”
To which Mineta’s jaw drops so Katsuki holds his fist up and he immediately shuts it, alternating between glaring and looking bemused.
“Congratulations,” Ojiro says, scratching his head. “That’s some great news. He’s been crushing on you since U.A.”
“Thanks,” she replies, nodding. There is a flush up high up her cheeks.
Mineta throws his hands out towards Jirou and makes a show of pointing at her.
“Drop it.”
He continues.
“Mineta.”
He holds one finger up.
“Fine. One fucking second,” Katsuki says.
So, Mineta takes a deep breath before using his second. “How does she throw insults at me one second and gets all shy and blushy in the next?” he demands. Then he zips his mouth up again.
Jirou’s glare isn’t as strong this time, when she gives him an answer. “Your lack of respect towards anything female will only earn you insults from said females. It’s cause and reaction.”
When Mineta holds his hand up again, Katsuki shakes his head. “Sit tight.”
And then the silence stretches. Katsuki thinks about ways out that won’t bury them, but nothing comes to mind. It’s when he stands up to stretch his leg out that he notices the attention on him. “What?” Katsuki asks. “What you looking for?”
Ojiro looks away, hand on his neck, Jirou just shrugs and Mineta gives him a look. Katsuki glares at him. “You’re really keen to fight, huh?”
Mineta shrugs and glares at the snow.
“It’s just,” Ojiro starts, throws the snowball in his hands on the ground and shrugs. “We all confessed something, so we just assumed…”
“Assumed that I would join your little round of honesty?”
Ojiro shrugs again and says nothing.
Katsuki looks at all three of them, who look back, and sighs. “I have no fucking idea what you want to hear. Make something up in your heads.”
“Come on, Bakugou. There must be something you can tell us. Something small,” Jirou inquires.
Katsuki shrugs. “Like what?”
“Who all did you f-“
Ojiro’s tail stops Mineta from finishing his sentence as it clamps tightly around his mouth. “Do you have a death wish?” he hisses.
“Let him talk,” Katsuki says, grin on his face. “I want to hear his question.”
Ojiro reluctantly lets him go. Jirou carefully backs away just as Mineta opens his mouth to sign his death wish.
But then there is a sudden shift in the air as a hand pokes out behind Mineta and Deku’s face follows shortly after.
“Midoriya,” Ojiro says, sighing in relief. “Your timing is perfect.”
“Thank god we found you guys. Mei did say her heat scanner is reliable. Still, I couldn’t help but worry.”
“No dying a virgin,” Mineta shouts as he rushes down the tunnel Deku has apparently shoveled.
Deku stares after him and then looks at them but Ojiro just shakes his head. “Just know you saved his life.”
“Yeah,” Jirou agrees. “Thanks for the rescue.”
“We made a tunnel to get to you guys, from a safe distance. Just get to the opening and Uraraka will carry you to the top, where first aid is waiting.”
“Nice,” she says and walks past them. Ojiro and Katsuki follow suit and Deku falls in line behind them.
“So, why were you going to kill Mineta?” Deku asks when they finally catch up to Mineta.
Uraraka taps him to make him float up. Katsuki watches him float for a moment and then shrugs. “He was about to ask who all I fucked.” Then, lifting his hand to his mouth, he shouts, “the answer to that is no one, Midget. I’m a virgin until Sunday.”
Izuku chokes on his spit, Uraraka loses her concentration and Mineta falls. It’s only thanks to Ojiro’s quirk reflexes that Mineta doesn’t crash into the snow.
“The hell?” Mineta screeches.
Next to Katsuki, Jirou asks, “why ‘till Sunday?”
Katsuki points at Deku.
Deku stares in shock, points at himself and asks, “me?”
Uraraka finally loses it and breaks out into loud snorts of laughter.
Katsuki asks, “don’t want to?”
So, Izuku flushes, scratches his cheek and says, “it’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that we haven’t even dated, and I mean, I have liked you for like forever but like, is this really ok? I mean Sunday is just four days away. But I guess we could go on a date beforehand an-“
“Stop muttering up a storm and just say yes or no, Nerd.”
“Yes,” Deku says immediately. “I mean, yeah. Definitely.”
“Good,” Katsuki says and then leans in. There is a moment in which Deku’s eyes go incredibly wide before he squeezes them shut.
“What’s taking you so long, Midoriya? Uraraka?” Hatsume asks from the top.
“Deku and Bakugou are a thing now,” Uraraka calls back.
“Nice. Now move. It’s freezing up here!”
So Katsuki pulls away, watches as Uraraka helps his team up one by one. Then, when it’s only Deku and him, he says, “it doesn’t have to be Sunday.”
“Yeah,” Deku whispers.
“I don’t care.”
“Me neither.”
Uraraka turns to them. “So, who’s next?”
Katsuki steps forward, let’s Uraraka tap his shoulder and uses his quirk just a little, to steer himself into the right direction.
“A date. Let’s go on one. Sunday, I mean.”
“Okay,” Katsuki calls back.
“Okay,” Deku says, smile in his voice.
“You two are making me sick,” Uraraka comments.
Katsuki just flips her off.
Imaginary- Chapter One
Midoriya Izuku’s life was turned upside by fate.
Eri’s life was turned upside down by circumstance.
And Bakugou Katsuki is about to learn that even imaginary friends need to grow up.
Also on AO3
A/N: Whoo buddy, why is it so scary posting something for a new fandom? Maybe it’s because I’ve been suffering severe writing burnout for the past handful of months, or maybe it’s because I didn’t even realize I was going to write anything for this pairing until the idea struck me. Whatever it is, I guess welcome to my first ever BakuDeku fic lol please be gentle with me Gonna go big or go home with this bad boy, so I hope you guys like it enough to stick around for the long haul with me. Anyway, this is the If You Could See Me Now AU I always wanted to write, but never had a pairing that I thought fit it the way I wanted it to be.
***********************************
Imaginary friends are meant to help those who have forgotten how to smile.                                                                                            -Yagi Toshinori
***
Staring down into the brown depths of his coffee, Midoriya Izuku wills the caffeine to enter his bloodstream through instantaneous osmosis. It’s all in vain, he knows, but he’d do just about anything to combat the fatigue that has turned his brain into mush.
The tired that he feels is a different kind of tired than what he was used to.
Before, the black bags under his eyes were somewhat of a badge of honor, only proving how much work he was putting into his latest case.
Before, while he would feel the quiet ache of his sleep deprivation like a second coat around his shoulders, it had never felt suffocating or as if it was sucking the very life out of him.
Of course, before, he had been working his way through the ranks of the Tokyo police department, married to his job and returning to a quiet and empty home at night with his only care in the world being how he would tackle his next day of work.
The sound of the chair beside him grating across the linoleum as it’s pulled out drags him forcefully from the depths of his mug as he looks over to the 4-year-old girl who has joined him.
Eri had been the result of his greatest work accomplishment.
The department had been working on trying to land a blow on the Shie Hassaikai since before Izuku had shown up as their newest recruit, bright eyed and bushy tailed, and wholly unaware of the fact that in just five years time he’d have a hand in the biggest bust of a criminal organization in Tokyo’s modern history.
Years of planning, and stakeouts, and undercover had led his team to the front door of a warehouse. Tucked in a corner of an unassuming commercial dock, they had burst through the front door with gas and guns, and managed to capture the group’s tactical mastermind, Chisaki Kai.
After putting the biggest names of Shie Hassaikai into the backs of several police cruisers, they’d searched the docks only to find a shipping container filled with kids. Ranging in age from 4 to 14, they had cowered instinctively against the opening of the doors, shrinking back into the shadows and looking at the policemen in a way that had made Izuku’s stomach turn.
It had taken time to get them all out of there, and then to find the homes that they had been torn from. Reunion after reunion had come until finally there was one left.
Eri, the youngest of the group, had been the slowest to open up to them and even when she had, it had only been to Izuku. She had clung to him by the end of the first week, only taking food and drink from him, and very quietly whispering answers to his questions.
That was how he had found that of the 23 children they had rescued that night, Eri was the only one whose parents wouldn’t be coming to pick her up. The couple had found themselves on the receiving end of Shie Hassaikai’s anger. Their ending had been somewhat of an easy out in comparison to the future they had unknowingly subscribed their daughter to.
The department had told Izuku what the next steps were to be. Eri would be placed in foster care where she would hopefully find a new home before she turned 18 years old and found herself out on the street.
There was no secret as to what happened to most kids in the system, and as far as he had seen it, Eri was going from one horrible situation to another, and all because of the folly of adults. No one deserved that.
She didn’t deserve that.
So, he did the only thing he could think of.
He adopted her.
And even now, three months later in a new home in an old town and temporarily jobless, he doesn’t regret.
That being said, he is fucking tired.
Who knew raising a 4 year old alone would sap the very life out of you?
Well, besides most parents, and now, Izuku.
In hindsight, he supposes it only been a matter of time. He had been running on fumes and caffeine before he even brought Eri into his life. There was only so long that he could have viably maintained properly caring for the girl, getting her to daycare every morning, working a ten hour shift, picking her up, feeding her, getting her to bed, going over what needed to be done for his latest case before passing out for a few hours of sleep, and then waking up bright and early to do it all again.
At the end of it all, he’s sure the only one who was surprised by his collapse at work had been himself.
You’re working yourself to the bone, his best friend and coworker Shinsou had said. Something has to give, Izuku.
The truth of it was that he had known that.
Had known it since the first couple of days when the gentle embrace of general fatigue had evolved into a sharp ache that he couldn’t shake. He’d made it two months, 6 days and 13 hours before it had finally caught up with him so that had to count for something.
Shinsou was right, and that’s how Izuku found himself sitting at a brand new table, in a brand new house, in the small town that he had run from all those years ago.
Moving back home had been the next logical step in the grand scheme of things. His mom could help with Eri, the price of living was significantly cheaper, and their police department was a branch off the main department in Tokyo which only made transferring all too easy.
After a couple of phone calls, a significant dip into his savings, and a seven and a half hour drive later, Izuku had officially started a new life.
About a month had passed since then, and while he hadn’t expected to have everything to be miraculously better, he had at least hoped he’d feel rested enough before starting work in a week’s time.
That, it seemed, had been a fruitless hope.
Because god damn, he was tired.
And judging from Eri’s wide yawn, she was too.
“Good morning,” he says, trying to ignore how his own voice is thick with sleep as he pushes a plastic container of chocolate donuts towards her.
“Morning Daddy Izuku,” Eri says sleepily, grabbing one of the small donuts with her small hands. As she munched on her donut, with her eyes locked on the table, Izuku looked over her. Her long, silvery blonde hair was knotted with wild bedhead that he was sure would take them quite a bit of time to tame, and lots of treat blackmail on his part to ensure she sat still for.
Slightly hunched and with her legs swinging as she continued to eat, and with her bright pink pajamas still slightly too big for her frame, she looked even smaller than she already was. She’d come such a far way from how Izuku had found her, but it still twisted his gut when he thought about how the sweet girl had seen more in her life than most adults.
Deep down, he knows it wasn’t his job to make up for the wrong the world had done to her, but he feels he owes it to her anyway.
If not his job, then whose, he wonders as he takes a sip of his coffee to swallow down the grit of sleep clinging to his throat.
“Want some milk?” He asks after resurfacing, getting up at the first sign of her small nod. Gently putting his mug on the mahogany table, he turns toward the kitchen.
With his back to Eri, he misses the way her eyes shift quickly to the chair next to her, and the wide grin her mouth pulls into as she reaches her hand into the plastic container for another donut.
Placing it on the table, she nods before stuffing the rest of her own donut in her mouth.
When Izuku returns, Eri’s own small pink mug in his hand, the donut beside her is gone.
***
There was something comforting, yet altogether depressing about the fact that his mother’s home hadn’t changed at all in the 26 years that Izuku had been alive. Just walking through the front door had transported him back to a time that had been altogether easier.
At the time, he had taken the ease for granted, instead focusing on how he had always felt like something had been missing.
Not that Izuku had ever thought anything as grand as being meant for so much more, but he had always had dreams that at least amounted to so much more than the town of Noto and its population of almost 18,000.
And now he was back and he’d be lying if he said it didn’t make him feel small.
It didn’t help being surrounded by photos documenting his life, most notably the large graduation photo on the mantle, taken just after he’d received his badge from the academy.
“Izuku,” his mom’s voice was gentle as it prodded him straight out of his thoughts and back onto the grey couch in which he sat. Her eyes conveyed the same gentleness, encapsulated in a green that was a little less like the hard emerald of his own, and more like a calm sea.
They seemed to see through him as he made a questioning sound in his throat.
“I asked how Eri was liking that daycare! They had wonderful reviews, and while I’m sure they aren’t as good as Mrs. Tanoshi was, I guess we don’t have much of a choice since that poor woman is almost 80 now,” she says, her voice comforting as it rambled just slightly about Izuku’s old caretaker.
He bites back on a comment about how he had thought she had already been closer to ancient, even back then.
“She seems to like it,” Izuku says instead, shifting his gaze over his mother’s shoulder and toward the patio door where he can see Eri smiling and playing by herself in the yard. “She’s been happier at least, especially the last couple of days.”
Outside, he sees Eri run as if she’s chasing something, her mouth split wide around a laugh he can’t hear. His heart squeezes with a feeling he’s starting to realize is a mix of pride and something like adoration.
“That’s so good, Izuku,” his mom says warmly, her eyes still cutting through him as he turns his gaze back to her. Lips pulled up gently in the corners, she’s looking at him with that all knowing mom look.
“What?” He finds himself asking, fully indignant like the teen the house made him feel like again.
In his peripheral, he sees a ball fly high as it arced across the yard.
“Nothing, honey,” she says, gently grabbing his knee as she leans in. It’s a soothing sort of touch before she continues, “I’m just so proud of you, is all.”
Heat rises up and over his neck, racing to his cheeks and turning his skin what he’s certain is a terrible shade caught between sunburn and tomato.
Admittedly, he and his mom had always had a good relationship.
If anyone had asked her, she’d tell them Izuku had been a wonderful child, filled with imagination and idealism and dreams. If anyone asked Izuku, he’d tell them his mom had been a sweet mother who had taught him with a stern but loving hand, and who had always supported him in his dreams even when she was worried.
She’d always said she was proud of him, but something about the way she said it now, her eyes sparkling with something unknown to him, made his eyes burn.
“I know you always wanted to be a hero, Izuku,” she says, squeezing his knee, “and now you are one.”
The acknowledgement buries itself deep in the center of his chest as he tries to swallow down the lump that’s forming in his throat.
“I know it’s hard, trust me. Parenting isn’t easy, honey. But you have to know that you’re that little girl’s hero,” she concludes before smiling wider at him. Letting go of her hold, she pats his leg before pushing herself off the couch and turning to look out the patio doors.
Keeping his gaze on his mother’s back, Izuku clears his throat and quickly passes the back of his hand across his eyes to catch the moisture that has collected at their edges.
“We should probably get going,” he manages to get out as he stands up beside her. Izuku stands taller than her by a head, yet he still feels small as he looks out towards the yard and the girl sitting in the middle of it. With one hand, she’s steadying it on top of a finger on her other hand, face twisted in concentration before she gives it a spin. For just a moment it looks as if it may actually balance there before it falls down to the side.
There’s a breath where she watches it roll away before she laughs.
“Mom?” Izuku says, keeping his eyes trained on the four year old.
“Yes, sweetie?” She hums, not bothering to turn back toward him.
“Thank you.”
Her answering chuckle is low as she moves around her coffee table and in the direction of her kitchen.
“I’ll pack you both up some cookies,” she says before disappearing to make good on her word.
Left alone in the living room, Izuku takes a steadying breath before pushing his way out into his mom’s backyard. Eri is standing now, having gotten up to chase after the ball that had rolled towards his mom’s herb garden in the corner. With her back to him, she seems to be looking at the plants with the ball hugged to her chest.
Moving in her direction, he’s a couple feet away when he hears her small voice.
“— Grandma Inko is a really good planter,” he hears her say almost conspiratorially. There’s a heartbeat of silence before she giggles and shakes her head.
“It’s not boring! They started as seeds and now they’re plants!” Eri exclaims, turning her face as if looking at something. Izuku watches as her smile grows before she shakes her head again.
“You’re silly, not everyone can make plants. Daddy Izuku says he once killed a plastic plant and those aren’t even real.”
Then, her mouth forms a look of surprise as she fully turns to face him.
“Hey Daddy Izuku!” She says happily, closing the small distance between them with a slight bounce. Clutching the ball to her tummy still, she looks up to him with her smile still wide. Warmth spreads through his chest as he drops down to her height and reaches out to pull a piece of grass from her hair.
“Hey Eri,” he smiles back as he flicks the offending piece of plant life away. “Who are you talking to?”
The question is out of his mouth before he can think to swallow it. It earns him a confused look before Eri turns to look to her side for a barely there moment before giving a small nod and turning her attention back to him.
Pulling a hand away from her ball, she waves it to her side as if showcasing something.
Izuku isn’t sure how it happens, but her smile seems to get brighter as she says, “This is Kacchan!”
***
Izuku’s room is too dark and too quiet as he stares up at the ceiling from where he lays in his bed. His sheets are pooled at his waist and his arms are folded across his chest as he imagines he can see paint shapes in the shadows across the white above him.
It was already usually pretty hard for him to get to sleep here. He’d grown used to the sound of the city, and hadn’t realized it had been its own sort of lullaby until he had moved. Tonight, however, the issue is less the lack of noise and light, and more the interesting new development that seemed to have landed in his lap.
Kacchan, he thinks as he breathes heavily out his nose. Eri’s new imaginary friend.
After she’d introduced him, it seemed that whatever wall she had constructed around the imaginary fellow had collapsed, and she had chattered with this Kacchan for the rest of the evening.
In the back of the car, at the dinner table— where she’d even asked for Kacchan to have his own place setting— and even at bedtime when she’d told the specter goodnight. It was, in a word, odd.
Yet she had looked so genuinely happy that Izuku had bit his tongue as he just nodded along, acting as if he could see this pretend friend of hers and even setting down a plate for him next to Eri. Even though it was a small amount, he still lamented the wasted curry. It was one of the few meals he actually knew how to cook well, and though he knows all the books say to encourage the imagination, it still stung a bit knowing he would end up throwing away the food at the end of the night.
At least, so he had thought. He isn’t sure how she had managed it, but at some point he must have looked away because when it was time to clean up, the plate had been cleared of its food.
It wasn’t the only weird thing that had happened in relation to this Kacchan, either. When Eri had first introduced the friend, Izuku could have bet a heavy sum that he had actually heard someone there. The soft sound, something like a haughty scoff, had caused a chill to run down his spine and momentarily consider the possibility that maybe Eri was actually being haunted. He’d quickly chalked it up to his own lack of sleep playing tricks on him, but that didn’t stop him from feeling as if he was being watched for the rest of the day.
Shaking the phantom feeling and bewildering thought, Izuku squeezes his eyes shut before opening them again to the darkness of his ceiling.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with having an imaginary friend, he knows. Hell, he had had one as a kid.
All Might had been his name. Izuku remembers him vividly. He was the reason he’d wanted so desperately to become a hero before he grew enough to know that imaginary friends were only that, and that it was severely frowned down upon to run around in spandex and a cape.
All Might had been his best friend though, helping him right after his father had walked out on him and his mom. He supposes after everything she’s been through, it only made sense that she would come up with an imaginary friend. In fact, with that in mind, he could probably say it’s a bit weird that it took so long for it to happen.
Eyes burning and vision blurring, Izuku’s eyelids start to fight against his insomnia.
He’ll have to keep an eye on it all the same, he thinks as his blinks start to grow longer. Izuku still remembers the pain he had felt when his own had disappeared.
It isn’t too much longer until sleep finally pulls him into its inky embrace.
To Have A Villain’s Quirk
SIX: PROUD
Tumblr media
Kaida stayed away from everyone as they filed off of the bus in front of Battle Center C, fiddling with the ponytail she had resting over her shoulder. Maybe she should put it up higher, or into a bun to keep it out of her way. She'd be bound to get caught if she let it stay loose. Making up her mind, she quickly put it into a semi high bun, taking a breath as she looked around at the other competitors, then up at the large doors that blocked them from going in just yet. Maybe she should get closer too, that way she can barge straight in- no, everyone else will be doing that. Hmm, she could use her rinkaku to move past everyone as stay perched at a good height. She'd be able to see everything then and get to the enemies quicker than everyone else.
    "Hey, pretty lady! Why are you all by your lonesome?" Kaida stopped mid thought, eyes slowly shifting to the side to find the owner of whoever just spoke. Only a few inches taller than her, she looked at a orangey-blond haired boy with gold eyes. Plain looking, except for the black streak in his hair. He had a big smile on his face, as he tilted his head down at her. A little too close. He could practically hear the gears in her head turning as she comprehended what he had just said, laughing as soon as her face blossomed red. Her parents and Midoriya were the only ones she ever gotten this close to. Just what was this boy doing?
    "Too close!" She quickly shuffled away, staring at him wide eyed. "W-what are you doing?" He chuckled as he stood up a little straighter, his friendly smile still playing on his lips.
    "Hah! Sorry, didn't mean to startle you. You just looked lonely is all." The maroonette looked down, trying to force the heat in her face to go away. The boy watched her wring out her hands, humming to himself. He stuffed one hand in his pocket before pointing to himself. "Well, the name's Denki Kaminari! So, what should I call you?" Kaida was at a loss with his flirtatious smile, eyes trying to avoid his. He just found it cute.
    "Ah.. Kaida's fine." She was never one for formality, calling someone by their last name. She saw going by first names right out the gate was an easier way to get closer to being friends. At this moment, though, she didn't know if she'd be able to handle this boy's friendship.
    "Kaida, huh? Suits you." He followed it with a wink, causing her to feel like she was going to close in on herself. She was happy when she heard Present Mic's voice echo through the area about starting. She didn't even take a second glance at the boy as she took off. As soon as they passed the gate, she sent her rikaku to latch onto the top of one of the buildings, pulling herself onto the roof to get a better look at the surroundings. She just needed to defeat these things and rack up a bunch of points. She just hoped that Izuku was doing okay.
    Ten minutes was all they had to rack up points, but she wasn't going to complain. She also wasn't above stealing points from others either. That being said, she could see the robots from where she was, and with the help of the five tails she managed to create, she could strike down the creatures in multiples. She could already hear the others shouting in annoyance, but she needed the points, but she could already see her recklessness was going to cause someone to get hurt, so she made sure that she kept the pieces from squashing anyone. She hopped rooftop to rooftop, catching points left and right, even seeing the Kaminari boy she ran into. But she didn't pay him much mind as she continued on, huffing as she was slowly getting low on energy. She knew it was going to happen, but it wasn't draining her as quick as it used to. Kaida was definitely happy that she had pushed herself so hard. As she went through the area, she caught a falling piece of debris from hitting one of the female contestants, Kaida getting a thankful wave before they went their separate ways.
    Soon, time was up, the alarm sounding overhead, and she swore it was the shortest ten minutes she had ever felt. She panted as she deactivated her quirk, resting her hands on her knees to catch her breath before she left the center with everyone else. It looked like they were all just as worn out. Boarding the bus back to get their things, Kaminari caught up with her, sitting beside her. "Hey! I saw you up on the buildings, you were amazing!"
    "Huh?!"
    "Yeah! You took out the robots like it was nothin'! And I saw that you saved one of the girls here, too." He went on, an excited look on his face as his hands moved with his words. "You're really hero material! There's no doubt you'll get in!" His praises just made Kaida's face redder by the second. No one has really praised her like that. Her parents, sure, but Izuku hadn't really seen her use her quirk much, so he wasn't able to have an opinion about it.
    "Ah, well, thank you.."
    "No problem, cutie!" God, she just wanted to hide.
    Making back to UA without too much of a problem, Kaida still hadn't been able to shake the electric puppy dog from her trail, instead just letting him talk away, while she just listened and nodded. He was so talkative. At least he dropped the compliments and was finally talking about normal stuff. They soon had to split ways to go get changed and collect their things, so Kaida mustered up a big smile and wave, while Denki finger-gunned himself away. She giggled a little bit before getting herself together. As she left the changing rooms, she noticed the brown haired girl they had talked to this morning. It looked like she was caught staring by her, the girl making her way to her with a slight worried look.
    "H-hey. You came here with that boy with green hair, right?" She asked, pushing her fingers together nervously. Kaida blinked, frowning as she slowly nodded, confused. "Right, um, he might need help getting home.. he got hurt dur-" Kaida didn't let her finish before she took off. She knew it! She knew something like this would happen! He was probably reckless, too! That dummy!
    She searched around before she finally came across him with the well known Recovery Girl. "Izuku Midoriya!" She shouted, scaring the poor boy. "You were reckless, weren't you? I told you to be careful! You're not made of steel!"
    "Wah! I-I'm sorry, Kai! Don't worry! I'll be more careful!"
    "You better be! Now, let's get you home. Dummy."
                                                                                      *
One Week Later
    If her estimates were correct, Kaida would be receiving the results sometime soon, but it was killing her to not know. She was constantly unfocused, staring off into space, or even being locked up in her room not making a noise. She checked for mail every day since then, confusing her mother, but it didn't matter. She just needed to know. She and Midoriya had been messaging back and forth everyday about the results and what they could be. She tried her best to cheer him up, after he told her what happened. He had a late quirk, according to him. It was unheard of, but she guessed that they just didn't know that much about quirks like they thought they did. At the moment though, she had herself leaning over the counter as her mother cooked herself dinner. Kaori was constantly watching her, worry etched into her features. Eventually, she sighed.
    "Okay.. Honey. I know you've been checking the mail at about this time for the past week. Why don't you go check it, maybe whatever you're waiting for has finally come in." She had no clue what her daughter could be waiting on but it as obviously important. Kaida reluctantly removed herself from the counter, shuffling to the door.
    "Yeah, okay.." Kaori raised a brow as she staggered out the door, shaking her head as she pulled her food of the stove to put it on her plate. She nearly dropped the pan when the door slammed open and her daughter came rushing in, almost sliding past the counter with an envelope in hand. "IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE!"
    "O-okay! What is it?" Kaori quickly asked, startled as the girl ripped the whole thing open, a small disk flopping out onto the counter. The woman, circled the counter to stand next to her, curious now. A hologram forming from the disk, All Might appearing in the screen. "Honey, w-why is the number one pro hero on this projector..?"
 "Hello! It is a pleasure to let you know that you have passed both the written and practical exam with flying colors." Kaida stared up at All Might's face as the entrance exam results for the top ten were listed, her seeing her name with the number of villain and rescue points. Fifty-nine Villain points.. and sixteen Rescue Points. Sh-she was ranked second place! "As the newest teacher for the Hero Course, I, personally, would like to congratulate you on being accepted. Welcome, Kaida Hiyama. You are now apart of the Hero Academia." All Might's big smile remained frozen as the projection ended, eventually turning off. Kaida remained staring off at the spot where the projection was, feeling her eyes watering before the hot tears slipped down her cheeks.
    "K-Kaida.. You.. You enrolled in UA?" Her mothers voice broke through her thoughts and she hesitantly turned to look at her. She was surprised to see her mother crying her own tears. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? Oh!" She pulled her daughter in for a hug, squeezing her with all her might. "I'm so proud of you!" Kaida hugged her back tightly, feeling her heart swell at finally being accepted and being told that she was proud of her. She had never felt like she belonged more than she did in that moment. She quickly pulled back, a big, happy smile on her face.
    "I gotta call Izuku and tell him! I'll be back!" She quickly grabbed her phone and ran up to her room. Kaori watched her bound out of sight, eyes still overflowing with tears as she closed her eyes.
    "What do you mean, 'she changed her mind'?"
    "She can't just do that, that's our child! MY child!"
    "Mrs. Hiyama, I understand you're concern, but you have nothing to worry about."
    "She signed the papers, she can't keep my child!"
    "Legally, no, but.."
    "But nothing! She's not keeping my child!"
    "Don't worry, my sweet girl. I'll make sure nothing harms you.."
Katsuki Bakugo: Lightning Round
[Bakugo bashing ahead. Avoid if you don't like that sort of thing. Potiential spoilers. Viewer's discretion is advised.]
Sometimes you just gotta review every nook and cranny for why you hate a character.
Just my opinions, btw. Maybe they're acurate, maybe not. In any case, I do hope Katsuki improves in a more meaningful way than he has been so far.
Now then, let's begin...
The only things legitimately going for Katsuki are his looks and his quirk. That's it. His attitude has gone from megalomaniacal asshole to slightly above average asshole, but everyone treats it like a gigantic improvement. It's only a noticable improvement. You want to see gigantic improvement? Look at Izuku. Look at Tenya. Look at Shoto Todoroki. THAT'S gigantic improvement.
It does not matter that Katsuki told Izuku to kill himself once. It does not matter that Izuku dismisses the idea and it has never been brought up again in the story thus far. Katsuki still told Izuku to kill himself on top of all the other physical and mental abuse. Izuku doesn't jump off of a roof because he wants to live; he doesn't do it because it would tarnish Katsuki's reputation. This kid has no sense of self-esteem, self worth, or self-preservation because Katsuki beated and berated it out of him over the past decade.
Look, I'm glad U.A. isn't taking Katsuki's crap as lightly as his middle school did, but they're still taking his crap. For one of the best hero schools in Japan, they didn't do background checks? (Granted his middle school probably gave him a flawless record because of his "potential.") Katsuki charging at Izuku shoulf have at least sent Eraserhead some red flags. No one gonna talk to him about nearly NUKING another student during the Battle Trial? Good Lord...
Eijiro, sweetie, you're a good character, so why do you follow Katsuki around? I get it, you're helping him improve as time goes on, but what has he done aside from impress you with several admittably awe-inspiring feats of strength? You didn't approve of him much during the Battle Trial. You some how started turning tail during the USJ. Katsuki is not being "manly" during the Sports Festival, he's being an egotist. He probably only took you on his team aside from your quirk because you brought up beating Izuku. Why aren't you more friendly with Tetsutetsu!? You both have better chemistry than... whatever it is you have with Katsuki. For Pete's sake, didn't you deal with bullies in your past? Why can't you see that, even toned down, that's how Katsuki is treating Izuku!? It's not him being excessively angry, that's him being his normal and rational self. He thinks telling people to die is normal; it's not some sort of charming characteristic. Why is it treated as such!?
Katsuki, you got third place in the Obstacle Course. I get that you're upset you didn't get first, but you don't have to look like you're about to commit murder.
You got second place in the Cavalry Battle. You get to move on to the tournament. Why are you whining like you just lost the whole thing?
Katsuki would throw down with anyone he came across in the tournament. Going all out against Ochako is nothing special. He would have gone out against anybody else all the same.
Also, Katsuki's sudden power buff has no logical explanation other than Horikoshi not wanting to give one of his favorites actual consequences. It would have made more sense from a logical and character developing standpoint if Ochako actually won that match. She could have lost at any other point (or heck, maybe even pull a full blown win), and she would still come to the conclusion that she needed to get stronger, and thus apply for Gunhead. Katsuki would get a better reality check than if he beat Shoto. Just saying.
Katsuki didn't even think Ochako was a threat just because she was. He naturally had to come to the conclusion that Izuku was the one responsible. And then Izuku goes and puts his sorry ass in check by giving him the facts. He's not gonna have somebody diss his friends and get away with it.
"Izuku didn't have faith in Ochako." ...Izuku has had to endure the burden of knowing Katsuki Bakugo since childhood. He's only known Ochako for a few months. He's experienced firsthand the kind of firepower Katsuki's wielding. Ochako had the decency to keep Izuku from falling, save Izuku from dying, changing Izuku's insult into something empowering, help Izuku win the Battle Trial, and help Izuku and his team advance to the Tournament. Naturally, he wants to pay back Ochako for all the times she helped him, and what better way to do it than give her a strategy? But she refuses. And Izuku doesn't push it. Ochako says she's got this, so even if Izuku is worried, he'll put that aside and trust Ochako. He'll root for her regardless of circumstance. "Didn't have faith?" What a load of crap. And then people will point to Katsuki's "What part of her was fragile?" even though he wasn't even taking her as a threat. He was taking her association with Izuku as a threat, forgoing the possibility that she came up with that strategy by herself until Izuku set the record straight. *Exhale* That rant felt good...
Katsuki. You won the Sports Festival. You should at least have the decency to keep yourself composed. I don't care if Shoto didn't give it his all; YOU of all people overheard his backstory! Your ego be damned, Shoto doesn't have to go all out if he doesn't feel like it. Emotions are complicated, Katsuki, and you know that, too. But by all means, please act like an unreasonable animal just because you think you're above us mere mortals.
...Katsuki isn't directly responsible for Izuku's Full Cowl. Stop framing it like he is. If anything, that's all Gran Torino with a bit of Tsuyu and maybe some of Katsuki's fundamentals, but it isn't directly Katsuki. It never was, and it never will be.
How does Katsuki pass the exam again? He hit Izuku just for trying to talk to him. He kept trying to attack All Might and refused to cooperate with Izuku at the start. He had to get his sorry butt dragged out by Izuku because Izuku is selfless and the only one there acting out of reason. Are we watching the same footage? As far as circumstances go, Izuku passed with flying colors. Katsuki should have been lumped into remedial lessons at camp with the rest of the Bakusquad and Rikido.
Katsuki, for the love of God, you were ordered multiple times to get back to camp. Stop acting like you're hot shit and trying to take out the villains. Maybe if you listened to Mandalay, you could have avoided capture altogether. But no, you have to go and act like an asshole trying to take down Moonfish, and because you were out in the open for so damn long, give Mr. Compress the opportunity to capture you and make Izuku and the rest of U.A. suffer for your actions. Wow...
I've had it up to here with Katsuki's "I didn't need help" routine. You just got saved by All Might when you didn't even have a plan for breaking out of the hideout yourself. Your classmates found a way to get you away from the battlefield and from the villains without being followed, so stop acting like you weren't rescued. Accept the fact that you needed help, full stop. Nobody likes to admit it, but it makes you a better person for it.
Why are you so surprised that you failed the Provisional License Exam? You did well enough in the first half, but you clearly forgot that interacting and actually helping citizens was a part of hero work? Jeez...
Katsuki. Talk to All Might if you feel bad about ending his career. Using your usual method of beating up Izuku does nothing, even if he inherited All Might's power. Why the hell does that matter to you anyway? How does knowing about One for All help you in any way, shape, or form? Why does Izuku have to be the one to take your shit? Why can't you be remotely reasonable and just TALK to All Might instead of tracking down Izuku just because of some weakly related correlation?
Haven't gotten that far in the series aside from the Shie Hassaikai arc, but I did see some stuff about the Joint Training Arc. Katsuki announces he's gonna get a 4-0 victory. Katsuki saves Kyoka. This isn't Katsuki taking All Might's words to heart in spite of what the narrative is trying to tell us. This is Katsuki's ego at work. His pride just happens to be tied to his teammates in this regard. Also, "This team is too perfect?" Where was Hanta, or Rikido? Kyoka barely did anything... This is just Horikoshi trying to play up Katsuki's development, and it's getting annoying.
Again, what does knowing about One for All actually do for Katsuki? He acts like Izuku and All Might forced the secret on him, even though Izuku willingly told him after the Battle Trail and Katsuki threw a tantrum after figuring it out. And then he decides the best way to unlock Black Whip is by combat, even though we know and Izuku knows (to some extent) that black whip was psychologically triggered.
I don't know where it is in the manga, but Katsuki says something along the lines of "Did something happen with One for All?" in regards to Izuku. Not "Did something happen with your quirk?" All Might has accepted that it's Izuku's quirk, Izuku is starting to accept that he's making One for All his own, but Katsuki saying OFA's full name makes it seem like there's a distinction. Katsuki calls it OFA because he still sees it as All Might's power. He accepts that Izuku wields that power, but he doesn't accept that Izuku owns it. He thinks it's a borrowed sword, not a sword Izuku owns. That's why he bothers keeping OFA a secret: it was All Might's secret. Izuku just happens to be a side effect of said secret, nothing more. He thinks that Izuku is capable now solely because he has a quirk. That's only partially true, considering the amount of work Izuku put into recieving OFA, and the additional amount of work and strife he endured in order to properly control it. Honestly, Izuku deserves better than Katsuki.
Looks like I'm done for the day. Whew, this was cathartic.
🔥 ℝise Ⱥbove I̾t ◈ Chapter 024 [Surprise]
Author’s Note: So, I wanted to take a moment to say that it sucks that the Anime Festa OVA wasn’t dubbed. I know there are several different fansubs out there, so the translations probably aren’t perfect, but I did the best I could with what I could find. Hopefully, the dialogue isn’t too far off. I originally planned to write this chapter before the start of season two, but the first episode is about them seeing Aizawa for the first time, so I felt that should be written first.
This was originally supposed to be two separate chapters, but for some reason, the first one only came out to around 1k words, so I just combined them together. I try to keep chapters between 2k and 3.5k words and I didn’t want to go with only 1k!
The students of class 1-A have returned to the USJ despite the villain attack a few weeks previously. The staff had combed the dome for stragglers and deemed it safe, so we finally returned to pick up on the rescue training that was so rudely interrupted previously.
“Well, that happened, but class is class.” Thirteen announced. “So, let’s begin the rescue training!”
“Can you really move, Thirteen-sensei?” Ochaco asked worriedly.
“My back hurts a bit, but it’s nothing compared to Aizawa.” He motioned toward our teacher, who was still covered in bandages, both arms crossed over his chest in slings.
“We are ready to begin class, let’s start already. We’re wasting time.”
“Aizawa-sensei?” Izuku stepped forward. “All Might is supposed to meet us, as well. Where is he?”
“I don’t know. Forget about him.” Aizawa responded off-handedly, turning and walking down the steps. I sighed and followed after him, already aware of what was in store for the class today. We were led to the rockslide zone.
“Let’s start with the rescue training! There’ll be three students at the bottom of the chasm. One of them will be unconscious, the other will have an injured leg, and the last will be very worried.” Thirteen explained.
Kirishima and Sparky approached the ledge.
“What height!”
“How are we supposed to get down there?!”
“What are you saying?!” Iida rushed over to the ledge. “Are you okay?! Don’t worry, we’ll save you!”
“You’re too fast…”
“Let’s save them!” Ochaco cheered. “Let’s do our best, Deku!”
“The injured will be… you three!” Thirteen pointed to Ochaco, Izuku, and Iida – the golden trio of U.A.
Once they were safely lowered into the chasm, Aizawa chose Momo, Fumi, Todoroki, and Bakugo. “Alright, you four are the ones who will rescue them. You may use these objects.” He nodded toward the various rescue-related items off to the side.
“Oi, why the fuck do I have to save Deku?!” Bakugo screamed angrily.
“Because we’re in the Anime Festa,” Tsu explained.
What the fuck is an anime festa? Sounds like a flavor of salsa.
“Hah?!”
“Just leave him, Tsu…” Kirishima sweatdropped.
“Help us! Please!” Iida’s voice carried from the bottom of the chasm.
“Let’s begin. Who is going down?” Todoroki questioned.
“This bastard doesn’t listen! I’ll have to teach him!” Bakugo held up his palm, setting off a string of small explosions. “Just blow up the mountain, that’s it!”
I facepalmed. “Dumbass,”
“Are you crazy?!” Momo cried out.
“He doesn’t think, he acts on instinct.” Tsu mused.
“Midoriya and the rest are in trouble.”
I scowled at Sparky as he stuck his pinky up his nose, wiggling it back and forth.
Todoroki sighed. “Yaoyorozu, create a pulley. We’ll make a way to pull them up. Let’s start with the one that’s unconscious. Tokoyami will go down. Bakugo, Yaoyorozu, and I will pull.”
“Bastard! Stop deciding on your own!” Bakugo grabbed him by the collar.
“Calm down!”
“It’s the best way,” Todoroki responded, coldly.
“Hah?!”
“If you think of this as a game, you don’t have to know.” Todoroki shoved his arm away. “I’m not going to waste my time in this training.”
Bakugo’s fist clenched, a tic mark appearing on his temple. “W-Who is the one playing around?!”
“Stop!” Momo demanded. “It’s pathetic! Besides, there is something we must do before anything else!” She headed to the edge, getting on her hands and knees. “Everyone, please keep calm! We will get to you right away!”
“Please hurry!”
“You’re finally here! We’re saved!”
Momo turned to glare at the two boys, clearly fed up with their attitude. “The first thing to do is to reassure the victims. There are occasions where you can’t save people who are desperate and panicking. Reassuring them is related to saving them! If you won’t do it properly, what’s the point of this training?!”
“Hmm,” I grinned. “I almost got chills. She’s gonna be a pretty good hero.”
French Fry, who was standing on my left, nodded in agreement.
“Impressive,” Kirishima agreed. “She’s really good.”
Mineta kneeled down, drool dripping from his mouth. “Yes, very good.”
“You’re such garbage, man.”
I followed his line of sight and my eye twitched. With her kneeling over like that, the perverted fucking grape has a perfect shot of her ass. My lip curled back in disgust as I lifted my foot backward before swinging it, boot connecting with his face. He went flying back against the stone wall behind us. “Have some goddamn decency, you cunt!”
“W-Winchester!” Kirishima grabbed my shoulder and I scowled, shoving my hands into my pockets.
“Jen, if you do that again, you’ll be given a week’s worth of detention,” Aizawa muttered.
“Che, worth it,” I responded. There are several students in my class that gets on my nerves, but there’s only one I hate with every fiber of my being and that’s Mineta.
During this time, Momo created a pulley, attaching the provided robe and gurney to it. The rock under the rope had been iced over by Todoroki so it would slide across smoothly without risk of breaking. Fumi, wearing a harness over his costume that was attached to the rope, started lowering himself down. Todoroki and Bakugo were holding the end of the rope, threading it carefully so he wouldn’t fall.
“Thank you… heroes!!”
Ochaco was lifted up on the gurney and… is she laughing again? Jeez, what is with this girl?
“Uraraka, what are you laughing about?” Momo asked cautiously.
“It’s just that, Iida – pft – is super serious, it’s funny!”
“I think it’s wonderful. It’s not a laughing matter.”
“I’m sorry, but even so… pft.”
I facepalmed. Idiots, they’re all idiots.
“Let’s pull the next one up,” Todoroki said.
“Shut up and just do it,” Bakugo responded, surprisingly calm.
“Rescuing people without using your quirk is quite a taxing job. That’s how modern heroes must shine!” Thirteen spoke.
“He’s the only one pulling…” Flex Tape commented.
“Shut up, bastard!”
“He judged that he could not use his quirk, that’s the right thing to do! Acting in a normal way… there’s a lot of professionals who are incapable of doing it. They always think of themselves and when they encounter a challenging situation, they put it aside. When you manage to understand and remember, you pass. I’m sure he’ll become a beautiful hero!”
“So, we just gonna forget about how he was content to just blast the mountain?” I cocked a brow, seeing his shoulders tense.
“He’ll never be beautiful,” Flex Tape added and Bakugo’s aura turned angry.
Izuku, Tail, and Ochaco worked together to save Tsu, who had a ‘broken’ leg. Using her gravity quirk, Ochaco was able to easily lift Tsu out of the chasm, dropping her into Izuku’s arms. “Safe!”
This ain’t baseball, sis.
“Midoriya, put me down. It’s embarrassing… Even though my leg is bandaged, this is wrong.”
Izuku freaked out, as usual, before setting her down.
“And we’re done!” Thirteen announced.
“It seems we’re not included because we’re not as efficient for the job.” Sumo mused. ‘We’ included Mountain, Octo, Me, and French Fry.
“So basically, we useless.” I scratched my cheek.
“It’s un~fair,” French Fry wagged his finger.
“It is!”
Thirteen clapped his hands. “Great job for your first time. We still have more battle scenarios prepared. In a nutshell, there’s still lots to do!”
“Do not relax,” Aizawa ordered. “Class is still in session.”
My lips tugged up as I looked away, covering my mouth with the back of my hand. Zawa be over here lookin’ like an angry mummy that just caught his kid sneaking out past curfew.
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
The class had moved to the urban area, which was basically the entrance exam but smaller and hella rundown.
“Now, we continue in this setting. Unlike the first training, this is a different situation. The purpose of this scenario is to give a more genuine experience. The injured can be anywhere and we don’t know in what state they may be in! You’ll have eight minutes to spread out and four of you will be the rescuers. The other seventeen must hide in whichever place they with. Nine of the hidden may not speak. I will select them now.” Thirteen explained.
“Ah, we’re playing hide and seek!” Alien cheered.
“To be precise, almost. Okay, the four that will search are…”
For the love of tacos and all things sacred in this world, do not fucking pick me.
“Them!” He pointed to Izuku, Ochaco, Mineta, and Bakugo.
Cool. An angry chihuahua, a perverted dumbass, and two of the sweetest cinnamon rolls. I feel safe.
“Why the fuck do I have to be with Deku?!”
“There’s no helping it, we’re in the Anime Festa,” Ochaco answered. Again? Man, I wish I had my phone on me to look this shit up.
“What the hell is that?!”
“Calm down, calm down. Let’s research it!” Kirishima answered, happily.
“When you carry the victims, you can touch their chests or their ass! Is that considered an evil deed?” Mineta was staring at Alien and Tsu, whose backsides were facing him.
Flames covered my entire body as I walked up behind him, slamming my fist against my palm. “Fucking try it and I’ll personally escort you to the deepest fucking depths of hell, you bastard.”
He squeaked, jumping backward as he covered his head, tears filling his eyes.
Izuku came up beside me. “You’re forbidden from carrying them, Mineta.”
The seventeen students meant to hide scattered across the broken cityscape. I ducked behind one of the broken buildings, hands stuffed into my pockets. Hmm, he should be making an appearance soon. I wonder, how will the other students react when he does? Honestly, I think this is a bad idea. Talk about risking some serious PTSD.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and paused, glancing behind me.
French Fry gave me a soft smile. “Would you like to hide together, mademoiselle?”
I shrugged and continued on my way, with him following close behind. The spot I chose was on the outskirts, a broken building leaning on its side over the wall that surrounded the city. I climbed up the rubble leading to the fourth floor, glancing back when his foot slipped and he nearly fell. I held my hand out to him and he sent me a sheepish smile.
“Thank you,” He took my hand and I pulled him forward, letting him go in front of me.
“Watch your footing, yeah,” I ordered.
He nodded, stepping through the giant hole on the side of the building. It led to the stairwell.
I hummed thoughtfully. “It’s about time, I imagine.”
“Hm?” He tilted this head in confusion.
With a sigh, I rested my hand on top of his head, ruffling his blonde hair. “Don’t freak out, okay?”
“What do you -”
His words were cut short when a loud explosion rang out from the other side of the training area, shaking the entire dome.
それ以上に上昇 ☆ The Day Before
“Whatever you think I did, you can’t prove shit.” I said as I stepped into the teacher’s offices. Aizawa was sitting at his desk, the skeletal Toshi standing beside him.
“I’m not even gonna ask,” Aizawa sighed.
“Smart man,”
“Now that you’re both here, I’d like your help in planning a surprise,” Toshi spoke up, glancing between us.
“A surprise?”
“Yes! The students will be returning to the USJ tomorrow to resume their rescue training. I want to surprise them by pretending to be a villain and hiding in one of the areas.”
“I’m opposed. They have just suffered from a villain attack.” Aizawa responded, sounding like he was regretting his life choices.
“They think that was just an accident.” Toshi held up a finger as he explained. “They believe it’s a coincidence that almost never happens, but that isn’t the case. Heroes are always in danger. I want them to understand that.”
I scratched my cheek, leaning on the desk beside Zawa. “That sounds like a bullet train straight to PTSD-ville, Tosh. And anyway, why the fuck am I here?”
“If we go through with this, we can’t risk you losing control again,” Toshi answered, making me scowl. I mean, he’s right, but still. “And I would also like to not get burned, young Jen. I plan on bringing young Todoroki in on the plan, as well.”
“Jen is right, it’s counterproductive. It may traumatize them if it goes wrong.”
“You must teach determination to overcome it.” Toshi slipped into his muscled form, complete with that Crest smile. “That is our duty as teachers!”
Aizawa was quiet for a moment, lowering his head. “You will assume responsibility.”
“Ahaha! Don’t worry, I believe in their strength!”
“Jen,”
“Yeah, Zawa?”
“Don’t get involved.”
“Less effort for me. Dope.”
He sighed.
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
I sighed, taking a seat on the bottom step leading up to the fifth floor.
“W-What was that?” French Fry swallowed, squeezing his body against the wall and peering out the hole.
“I told you not to freak out, didn’t I?” I propped my cheek against my palm, wishing I had an ice-cold Dr. Pepper.
“What if… what if it’s serious?”
“Come ‘ere,” I waved my hand and he hesitantly sat beside me. “I’ll tell you a secret, but you gotta keep it to yourself. All Might thought it would be a brilliant idea to pretend to be a villain to see how everyone would react.”
“How do you know that?”
“Uh,” Well, shit, I didn’t think he’d ask me that. I can’t tell him that Toshi is my guardian, that could cause some problems for both of us. I haven’t even told Bakugo that. “I, uhh, overheard him and Aizawa talking about it yesterday.” Not technically a lie.
He tilted his head, indigo eyes meeting mine. I felt like he could see through me, but he didn’t say anything.
The building shook harder, the wall cracking as a heavy gust of wind shot out from the center of the city. French Fry grabbed my arm as the crack spread to the ceiling above us. “Shit!” I jumped up, throwing him over my shoulder before jumping out of the hole, my feet sliding down the decline of rubble. Seconds later, the building collapsed in on itself. Goddamn it, Toshi. You’re supposed to scare the brats, not kill ’em.
“You okay?”
He nodded wearily and I set him down. The street we were on was on a hill and with most of the buildings now flat because of Toshi, we could see the battle from here. Toshi stood in the center of the city, wearing tan pants and a black muscle shirt, his face covered by a gas mask.
“Man, what a pain.”
Bakugo was attacking him aggressively, but his explosions were doing no damage. Toshi swiped at him but he dodged, using his quirk to jump over Toshi’s head before sending a powerful blast to his back. The force sent Bakugo sliding back across the ground, stopping in front of Iida.
“Oi, don’t worry about others! Don’t just stand there, make those weaklings run away!”
“Why do you have to insult others?!” Iida demanded angrily.
“Oi, oi, Bakugo! Who do you mean by ‘those weaklings’?” Kirishima grinned as the class started to gather at the scene.
“We are the twenty-one students of class 1-A,” Momo announced proudly.
“We will all be heroes!” Ochaco agreed.
“Ho? How brave.” Toshi taunted them. “However…” He sliced his hand through the air, sending a gust of wind and debris flying toward them.
French Fry rushed forward, folding his arms behind his head. “I’ll take care of this!” He leaned back, shooting a blast from his naval laser that destroyed some of the debris.
Kirishima hardened his body while Sumo downed a bunch of sugar, both of them punching and slicing at the rocks in the air. Punk plugged her jacks into her boots, sending sound waves of her heartbeat shooting straight toward Toshi. Using the distraction, Flex Tape used his quirk to wrap around him, while Momo created a cannon, shooting a net that covered him.
Hmm, they’re doing well. They’re not hesitating like they were before. They’ve gotten a lot stronger.
“Now!”
“Let’s go, class 1-A!”
Several of them rushed toward him, but Toshi easily broke free of his bonds, the sheer power of doing so sent everyone flying backward. My eyes met with Iida’s, which opened wide before narrowing in anger.
“I didn’t think you would all come to attack me. It’s unexpected, but with something so simple -”
Ah, the cliche ‘attack while the villain is monologuing’ trope.
Bakugo appeared behind him and he leaned his head to the side, dodging the explosive fist. Attack after attack, Toshi easily dodged them all. I know Bakugo has to be getting really fucking frustrated. Toshi is toying with him, trying to make him feel weak and powerless. I guess, in a way, that’s exactly what a villain would do, but… damn, I feel kinda guilty for not helping. Not like I could do much against that brick wall anyway.
“It seems you’re tired,” Toshi provoked. “Time to end this.”
“Don’t make me fucking laugh! I’m barely getting started!”
“Now!” Izuku rushed toward Ochaco, their hands connecting as he jumped into the air. Tsu’s tongue wrapped around his waist as she turned in a circle, launching him toward Toshi who was too distracted by Bakugo’s relentless assault.
“No matter how much you try -”
Oi, what is Izuku holding? Is that… one of Mineta’s balls? Oh god, that sounds so fucking wrong. I feel dirty just thinkin’ that shit.
He stuck the ball to the back of Todoroki’s vest, ripping him away from Toshi. Heh, so that was their plan. Damn, these kids ain’t half bad. I grinned, feeling proud of my classmates.
Izuku ripped his glove off since it was stuck to the ball and bent his middle finger in. I could feel his power rising. “Smash!” The power was directed as Toshi, who crossed his arms in front of him to block it, feet planted firmly on the ground.
“Weaklings should step aside!” Bakugo rushed in, both palms smoking. “I’ll kill him! Die!!” He brought his wrists together before unleashing a powerful explosion that sent Toshi flying backward.
Right onto a piece of broken building that had been covered by purple balls.
Oh, boy. I think you were just bested, Tosh.
“I-I can’t move,” Toshi’s front side was stick to the wall. He desperately tried to pull himself free, but it was impossible. To think the number one hero could be defeated by Mineta’s balls…
Bakugo stomped up to him smugly. “Now, it’s time for the final touch!”
“W-Wait, I -” he pulled his head back, the mask sliding off his face. “I am here!”
“All Might?!”
“Ahahaha! I wanted to create a surprise scenario in which a villain appeared in the end. Well, that happened, but you did a great job! I wouldn’t expect any less from the hero course…”
The students gathered around him and they looked pretty pissed off. “You went overboard, moron!!”
I sweatdropped as they took their frustrations out on his motionless body.
“What the hell were you thinking?!”
“I’m sorry!”
I jumped down from the ledge, giving him a pitiful look.
“Todoroki!”
“Hah?! Were you in on the surprise?!”
“…sorry,” He lowered his head.
“How cruel, All Might!”
“I’m sorry! It wasn’t serious!”
“Midoriya hurt his finger! Don’t you think that’s a bad image for the school?!”
Well, I mean, he does that a lot, though.
“Don’t do it again! Right, Deku?” Ochaco asked, turning toward him.
Izuku fell to the ground on his ass. “Well, I’m glad it was just a surprise!”
“Young Midoriya…”
“Don’t go ‘young Midoriya’!” Iida scolded.
“Deku, let’s go see Recovery Girl!” Ochaco helped him to his feet.
I headed for the stairs but someone grabbed my shoulder firmly. I looked behind me, eyes narrowing at Iida, who was glaring at me. “Let go,”
“Why didn’t you help us? You were just standing there!”
I shoved his hand off. “None of your business,”
“It is my business! While we were doing our best to take down what we perceived to be a true villain, you just stood there without a care in the world! The least you can do is explain why.”
“I don’t owe you anything, bro.”
“S-She probably knew about it, too! Like Todoroki…” Izuku intervened, looking between the two of us with a worried expression. “Right, Jen?”
I grunted in response, turning away from them. Aizawa sent me a look from beneath his bandages, but I ignored him as I ascended the steps.
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
I stifled a yawn as I left the school, adjusting the strap of my bag. It had been lying across my right breast and it feckin’ hurt.
“Oi, bitch!”
“For fuck’s sake…” I sighed, stopping to wait for Bakugo to catch up. He didn’t stop, pushing me forward with his shoulder. “Yes, Bakugo?”
He glanced at me and scoffed. “I know you read my fucking messages.”
“Does it really matter?”
“Of course it fucking matters! Why are you ignoring me?!”
I shrugged.
“Che, whatever. Be that way. You better go straight fucking home, we still have to get you to max level!”
“Kirishima is level one hundred.”
“So fucking what?”
“You only had me there because you had no one else to play with, right? Now you don’t need me, just play with Kiri.”
His hand connected with the back of my head, sending me stumbling a few steps ahead. “I knew you were a dumbass, but this is pathetic!”
My eye twitched. “You wanna die, Bakuhoe?”
His face was serious, making me pause. “I asked you to play because… because…”
My eyes widened. No fucking way, is he… blushing?
“Because you’re my friend, you dumbass!”
“Bakugo…” He really considers me his friend? My heart skipped a beat in my chest.
He pushed past me. “God, girls are so fucking weird! Don’t jump to conclusions, dumbass, say somethin’ next time.”
“Hey, Bakugo.”
He stopped but didn’t turn around. “What?”
I smiled, feeling warmth settle on my chest. “Thank you,”
“Whatever,” he muttered, shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked away.
