So... I'm Heading Out...
Not leaving Tumblr altogether 'cause this site's got me in one hell of a death grip, but I am leaving this blog (and related side-blogs) behind.
Feels like I need a fresh start, but I'm not just gonna wipe the slate clean. I'll leave the blogs up as a reminder, both for everyone else and myself. There are some things I wanna remember... and some I'd like to remember to avoid in the future.
You can find me @mathewton-cl, once I set up shop there.
The journey's not over yet. Just this part of it. Thanks for the fun.
Here's to more of it in the future.

Of all the things, it took a video from a YouTuber who makes goofy-ah anime edits and a bit of self reflection for me to finally cut ties with Twitter.
(And yet I'll still avoid doing anything on Tumblr lol.)
...the heck is life?

It's called Fall from Grace by AgarJelly! I'll link it below:
Hope this helped!
My brain refuses to remember anything at all ever.
There was someone on here who wrote a oneshot about the mha characters when after they became pro-heros, and the plot was about Midoriya, Shoto, and the rest of the top heros going to a party of some kind. While at the party Midoriya gets tipsy and when he, Momo, and Bakugou are called to the front to get there pictures taken, since they're the top heros and says something to piss of Midoriya and goes OFF.
He reveals that Bakugou has been bullying and abusing for years him in front of everyone and effectively ruins his reputation as hero. After all this happens Inko, Allmight, and rest of class 1a apologize for never realizing that Bakugou was being so awful and that's a far as I can remember.
I cannot. For the life of me. Remer the name of the author or the fiction. I've been wanting to read it for a while but I cannot find. So if anyone knows about it, please let me know

“So you’re just going to tell a simple story of Good vs Evil?”
And what, pray tell, is simple about good fighting evil?
What, pray tell, is simple about finding the courage to fight against overwhelming malice and darkness. Where is the simplicity in uniting the frail and fallible hearts of humanity against evil that would consume us? Where is the simple in finding the courage to endure and last against the shadow that never falters or stops in its assault?
When all good, from the smallest flickering candle to the mightiest star, must stand against all consuming darkness, where is the simple in that? Where is the simplicity in protecting ourselves from evil. In finding way to shield our hearts and souls from temptation and hate. What part of keeping good and hope and love alive is simple?
When despair claws at the heart and soul, and all seems lost, how is finding the will to keep fighting, to keep trying, to keeping dying against something that seems inexhaustible simple? What is simple about keeping yourself good, about keeping yourself from falling into the seductive trap of “for the greater good” to excuse evil actions in pursuit of vanquishing evil?
So, I ask again, what is simple, about good vs. evil?

In retrospect, Multiverse of Madness was a tad overhyped, at least for me [spoilers below the cut.]
For starters, the title? Somewhat misleading. Technically the multiverse is involved, but we only ever go to two different universes and the Gap Junction, plus that brief sequence where America and strange are warping to 838 with all those other dimensions. Maybe me wanting to go to more universes is just me getting my hopes up? Idk. Plus we don't really deal with actual multiversal ramifications until the movie is technically over, when we learn Strange caused an incursion in the mid-credits scene.
OK, so titles and expectations aside, the movie overall was... mid, I think? It had its moments, no doubt, but I just wasn't feeling it. That's fine of course, but it kinda killed my vibe while watching the film. I don't regret watching it, but I won't be going out of my way to rewatch it, y'know?
All that said, I did have a few favorite moments:
The multiverse montage when they're traveling to Earth-838.
Everything involving the 838 Illuminati.
Zombie Strange overall is kinda ??? for me, but him using the souls of the damned as a cloak? 💯
Honorable mention to the post-credit scene. It didn't get me to laugh, but something about the cheekiness of the fourth wall break made me smile a bit.

Shoutout to @/rex101111 for sparking my interest in SPY×FAMILY and @/kira-vera for flooding my dash so I'd finally cave and read the darn thing.
I'm caught up to the manga, so I'll probably watch the anime later.
The Forgers are a treasure. I will not be debating this.
Get into this series if you haven't already. It has found family and strong comedy. You won't regret it.
Peace.

STRANGELY ENDEARING SIGHTS ON TF2:
-Heavies who throw their sandwiches at hopeless causes, like a burning corpse on the ground or a building with a sapper attached.
-Pyros who thumb you up on the kill-cam (who can be mad at that? They’re thumbing you up!)
-All classes, but especially Soldiers, when the player controlling them shakes the mouse up and down as if trying to nod but it instead moves their entire torso (Soldier’s long and bulky rocket launcher enhances this motion and makes it 10 times more hilarious)
-When you die as Engineer, go to spectate your buildings and find a Pyro with homewrecker spychecking like mad and refusing to leave your nest.
-Medics who thank the Heavies after they throw their sandwiches at them.
-When during pregame, you spam the “Spy!” voice command at a teammate Spy, and the Spy responds with “Yes” every time.
-Non-Engineer classes who crouch near friendly buildings and keep smacking them with their melee weapons
-Pyros who run from the other end of the map chasing after Scouts trying to put their fire out.
-Pyros who run from the other end of the map to where you are just to extinguish you.
-A gibus and pyrovision Engineer who helps you upgrade and maintain your buildings.
-When you and an enemy player can’t connect a single hit so you both end up stopping, crouching, thanking each other and walking away.
-Those new players who wander off into a completely deserted part of the map and just stay there, looking all around them.

I’m tired of Bakugou
What do I think about Bakugou? I’m tired of him.
I’m tired of this static character, this empty, angry child, being shoehorned into everything, with everyone in and out of story loving him for treating them like filth. I’m tired of him, and I’m disappointed.
Let me tell you all a secret: when Bakugou was first introduced? I didn’t like him, of course, I never have and never will. But I was excited about him; not about who he was, but what he symbolized.

I know I'm barely around nowadays, but Hori just dropped more visible!Hagakure content, and I am LOVING her design.
Also, isn't it ironic that Hagakure didn't have a hair-based costume, and then Hori decided to give her that much of it? 🤔
But seriously tho, the way her hair waves around is a nice visual indicator for her Quirk, even if we never got to see it in canon prior to the reveal. This art is making me wonder if a full non-invisible Hagakure reveal is in the cards.
I mean, I understand why they wouldn't, but they could, y'know? I'm fine either way.

“I intensely dislike (if not outright hate) Bakugo for a myriad of reasons. His first impressions aside, he does not come off as a good character. Note that I said “character,” not “person” (though you could argue he’s not great at that, too). For one thing, his character development is frustratingly inconsistent. His “start line” was at chapter 11, but he barely progresses until the start of the Final Exams arc in chapter 60. We’re told he can cooperate better following that arc, only for him to completely ignore his superiors during the Forest Training Camp attack. He almost fails to get his license due to this lack of cooperation (only resorting to it with a metaphorical back against the wall), and then actually fails due to not caring about the civilians. When he gets his license, he still doesn’t care about them, effectively making the whole ordeal seem pointless. During his Remedial Course days, he says not to look down on others. He then proceeds to look down on the UA student body (or at the very least two Gen Ed students) for daring to be uncomfortable with what’s been going on within the hero society hellscape. He hits Midoriya with his head piece and it breaks skin following their work study under Endeavor, because he’s still not comfortable with other people making progress. On another note, the sheer amount of wins he gets is detrimental to his character (and his losses are turned into wins in such a way that they don’t teach him anything). He loses the battle trial, but gets comfort from All Might and hints about OFA from Midoriya, which will later lead to him figuring out OFA. He wins the Sports Festival, instead of losing and thus forcing him to reconcile with the fact that he can’t always win. He passes the Final Exams despite being put out of commission. He wins his rematch with Midoriya, which either way is a logical dead end, because Midoriya winning proves Bakugo’s “might makes right” philosophy, but Midoriya losing maintains the horrendous status quo. He “wins” the cultural festival. He wins his Joint Training match, even though it’s been less than 100 chapters between DvK2 and his victory, with little character-building losses in between. He’s never allowed to lose in a way that could help him grow out of his boundaries. Instead, he frequently wins, making losing seem more and more unreasonable instead of a necessary part of growth. Now, let’s look at his apology. Something a majority of Bakugo fans and dissenters alike have been looking forward to. The result… fell flat. It was self-centered, more for Bakugo’s ease of mind then Midoriya’s. We don’t even know if Midoriya was lucid enough to properly register it, as it hasn’t even been brought up since. Even more frustrating is that Bakugo continues to lean hard into his old mannerisms. In the middle of a WAR. And even though he says he hopes nothing changes, the extent he’s willing to go to ensure it is… concerning. Which leads into his last problem: his aversion to personal growth. Or rather, his inability to handle discomfort. Bakugo has shown on a regular basis his lack of wanting to approach uncomfortable subjects. He was leaving UA in a funk as the reality that he was no longer king hit him like a pickup truck. He made Kaminari fry himself when they were moving into the dorms to get everyone’s mind off of Kamino, which he felt partially responsible for, whether he’d admit it or not. He yells at the Todorokis following the family dinner, and while the moment of the Todoroki drama is questionable, ultimately, it’s their house, and not Bakugo’s place to barge in to tell them to shut up about it. Bakugo makes it about himself during one of the OFA meetings, saying he’s beaten Izuku at flight, conveniently right after All Might admits that most of the previous wielders of OFA died young. That’s pretty much it. Aside from more obvious things, like his first impression, general attitude, and the “tell don’t show” approach to his narrative, this is how I feel about the matter.”

If I may attempt to answer this seriously:
[TL;DR A lack of screen time and narrative favoritism makes it easy to paint Monoma in a bad light compared to Bakugo from a first glance.]
The biggest factor is screen time.
Bakugo regularly gets screen time, which in turn normalizes his actions to the audience and in-universe. Other characters brushing it off as "typical Bakugo" also sets a standard: "this is normal. This is okay."
If you're not looking too deep into it, it's easy to just accept that and move on.
On the other hand, we barely see Monoma, and when we do, it's kind of eh... This introduces another factor putting Monoma at a disadvantage: something akin to protagonist-centered morality.
Midoriya is the protagonist of BNHA. In a broader sense, ALL of Class 1-A are protagonists.
Monoma's first major scene is a kind of chaotic neutral (probably not using that term right). Him going after Bakugo isn't too much of a trigger yet, because it's still early enough in the story to where we wanna see him get some comeuppance.
His next scene has him antagonizing the majority of Class 1-A. The next time we see him after the Sports Festival, we see him purposefully ramming his lunch tray into Midoriya's head. He's still antagonizing 1-A during the Cultural Festival. Then comes the Joint Training arc, and while Monoma's just using words, he's well aware that his words cut deep. It's strategic, but it feels like there's a genuine undercurrent of resentment.
Bakugo regularly degrades his classmates verbally as well as occasionally physically (usually when Midoriya is involved) but he has the benefit of being a narrative pet, thus forgiving him of his transgressions because he's important or whatever.
Monoma doesn't have that. And from an outside perspective, it'd make sense that people would be off put by him. He regularly antagonizes our protagonist(s), and they don't just brush it off. Since Midoriya and most of Class 1-A come off as good people (and Bakugo has an unorthodox level of cosmic charisma for whatever reason), we take their stance more seriously than a side character with a bone to pick.
Sure he has his reasons, but other people aren't aware of them, or the readers that do don't care because he's already rubbed them the wrong way. Sure he supports his class, but we barely see that due to their collective lack of screen time. The Joint Training arc was ultimately just an elongated L in a long line of Ls for Class 1-B, and we barely see them afterwards in any centric context.
...this sort of devolved into a ramble at some point, but I hope this answers the question.
Now why does Monoma receive more hate than Bakugou? Yes he has done and said bad things. Yes he can annoying, but at his worse he's just cocky. Yet nobody seems find Bakugou's constant screaming and unusual anger to be annoying? Bakugou doesn't recieve as much hate? The majority of the fandom loves him. And Bakugou is arrogant too!
