How many of you hate Bakugo because he represents everything inside yourself with the power to destroy that moral superiority you hold over everyone?
I did. I didn’t like Bakugo until I was more honest with myself. Until I realized that my rage against him was also pointed inward.
Funnily enough, Izuku’s arc with Bakugo seems to be less about repairing a friendship and more about coming to peace with himself, loving himself, and choosing to stop lagging behind for Bakugo’s benefit. He doesn’t obsess over Bakugo’s strength the way he used to— and tbh, I don’t obsess over the destructive side of my personality as much either.
I think that’s the lesson, here. Not “forgive your abuser”, not “repair a broken friendship”, but “see that you are one coin with two sides and make peace with that— then you’ll leave the side of yourself you hate behind.”
And that’s my prerogative. People can learn from a story without participating in the main narrative. People can learn lessons from a character who to you is just an echo of times past. Learn to let go of your need to have everyone agree with and accept your interpretation; it’s poison.
This isn’t just “don’t like, don’t read”. This is “accept that you are not all people and all people are not you.” Bakugo triggers you. Bakugo reminds you of a past that hurt you.
Bakugo triggered me. Bakugo reminded me of the small, neglected, tired part of me that wanted to set the world ablaze and scream until people remembered I existed. Bakugo is loud. Bakugo swears at people who don’t deserve it. Bakugo jumps into battle guns-blazing and, if the stuff I’ve seen on trauma symptoms holds true, is a walking example of ptsd red flags. He’s everything I’ve fought not to be since I realized at 16 the direction my life was headed. I hated him.
I wanted to be him.
In a sense, Izuku and I fought the same battles as he and Bakugo clashed again and again. That tension between the desire to help people and the desire to destroy, to come out on top, to always be the best because that was where the validation was coming from— I knew that. That same fight was going on in my own psyche.
Then the fight after Bakugo’s kidnapping, like a slap in the face. The idea that both my destructive and creative sides could present something of value to the world? Unreal. Too much. Watching Bakugo and Izuku settle into this unsteady peace where they at least seemed to respect each others’ power and viewpoint was… holy shit it was groundbreaking.
After that, it was easier to laugh at my own destructive urges instead of shoving them down, fighting them, ignoring them. Because they’re impossible to ignore. Because they’re always going to be there. I can’t shut out the child and teenager who were locked into this disgusting play of better and best— instead, like Izuku, I can huff out an exasperated “kacchan!” And move on with my life.
Because eventually even Bakugo decided Izuku’s way was better. Because as much as Bakugo is morally imperfect, even reprehensible, he’s relatable. Because Bakugo Katsuki is not just a bully, he’s a fucking human being, and if you can’t see that past your trauma that’s not my fault.
Do what you have to do. Say what you have to say. But get the fuck off your high horse and put your feet in the mud like the rest of us before you criticize us for being soiled.

Dissecting Naruto’s Ending in Good Faith
Let's consider the possibility that Kishimoto's ending was deliberate—that things ended how they should've, and some plots weren't mistakes (looking at you, Kaguya).
Okay, hear me out. By assuming this, we can explore the series with a good-faith reading. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the series as an adult, and it’s shaken up many of my beliefs and perceptions—it's somewhat distressing, so I’ve been processing all this in therapy too, and coming to key conclusions. I think It's crucial to understand the motivations behind Kishimoto's choices, not just within the Narutoverse but also within the Kishiverse. Why did he make the decisions he did?
Why did he suddenly introduce reincarnations and fate? Aliens? Why the couples that seemingly came out of nowhere? Why doesn't Naruto quite change the system, or help the Hyugas? The final arc, overall, just seemed quite jarring, with some plots (like fate) seemingly subverting the message of the series.
I wonder, then, if Kishimoto's ending shows more of a realistic world rather than an idealized one. Reality often unfolds messily and sadly, devoid of perfect resolutions. Whether intentional or not, Kishimoto's storytelling may reflect his acknowledgment of the imperfect nature of existence. His reality bleeds into his creation, and he's subject to the same harsh realities his characters face.
Fate, Justice, and Change
In this unideal depiction, Naruto and Sasuke's actions are tied to fate rather than free will, Sasuke doesn't achieve his revolution, Naruto doesn't dismantle the shinobi system, and both end up in marriages that seem sudden and unsatisfactory.
If Kishimoto indeed intended this, why? Well, change often takes time, and sometimes change doesn’t even happen at all. People can become tired of fighting for a cause in certain ways, and settle for smaller victories. Relationships may not always align with desires, leading to compromises for convenience.
It's intriguing that Kishimoto explores themes of defying fate while ultimately making Naruto destined to save the world anyway. By making even the protagonists constrained by destiny, Kishimoto echoes historical cycles of rise and fall. Perhaps there's something inevitable about human love and hatred. We can begin to see Kishimoto's philosophical musings on how the universe came to be—the First Cause theory, that there's a divine Creator behind the universe. Or, perhaps, no matter the circumstances or our destinies, we must try to make our own decisions.
And, Sasuke's lack of revolution may not be a complete surrender. He doesn't fully support the system, remaining detached from the bureaucratic and familial norms by traveling. He pursues justice by roaming the world as a vagabond, championing justice as a vigilante. Sasuke has never been one to adhere strictly to Konoha's rules; he eschews the headband and prioritizes loyalty to his morals and loved ones. His rebellion does not manifest as he initially envisioned because his youthful idealism inevitably wanes. But this doesn’t take away from his fight, because Kishimoto portrays him as insightful and intelligent, showing that Sasuke can recognize the pragmatic benefits of partial conformity. He forever remains committed to his pursuit of justice by traveling and aiding others. Thus, his true surrender lies in acknowledging that he can be loved without compromising his strength, refuting the notion of love as a weakness.
As for Naruto, he isn't ignorant—he does comprehend the situation fully, sharing a deep understanding with Sasuke that transcends words (“I know your heart, and you mine” telepathic conversations). While it doesn't seem like much has changed, the events in Boruto unfold merely two decades after Naruto's era, a short span in historical terms. Significant societal transformations typically require centuries, not mere decades. Nevertheless, Naruto succeeds in establishing an era of peace, which Kishimoto shows through the relatively low stakes in Boruto. And when there are threats, they often manifest on a cosmic scale involving gods and extraterrestrial beings. While Naruto and Sasuke have brokered peace among nations, they acknowledge the inevitability of conflicts and warfare. Naruto's focus shifts towards fortifying the system itself, striving for safety within the constraints of reality.
Unexpected and Reluctant Couples
To thoroughly analyze the series, we must also examine the role of romance, as Kishimoto's introduction of romantic pairings significantly impacts plot themes, character development, and motivations. Whether we embrace it or not, these pairings alter the essence of characters in ways previously unseen.
In the canon material (manga and anime main story only), Sasuke and Naruto exhibit no romantic interest in Sakura and Hinata throughout the series. In fact, neither actively pursues romance in general. Sasuke states as such to Kakashi, and Naruto tells Jiraiya he’s not interested in girls. While Naruto initially does have feelings for Sakura, he eventually relinquishes them. Both protagonists prioritize their ideological missions above all else, with exceptions made for their friendship with each other. Sasuke, for instance, abandons his vendetta against Itachi when he sacrifices himself for Naruto in the Land of Waves, while Naruto is willing to forsake his dream of becoming Hokage to die to save Sasuke from loneliness and hatred.
So, how does Kishimoto portray their eventual marriages? Sakura pursues Sasuke persistently, repeatedly confessing her feelings until he ultimately relents and agrees to a family life with her. Meanwhile, Naruto displays no romantic interest in Hinata, even disregarding her confession during the battle with Pain. When he eventually marries her and starts a family, it feels contrived and dispassionate, a jarring image contrasting the boisterous Naruto we know. These relationships seem to emerge out of duty and resignation rather than genuine affection. Both Sasuke and Naruto appear worn down by their wives' persistence, leading them to reluctantly accept their marriages.
These couples have sparked considerable debate within the fandom, and rightly so, because they are not healthy or truly romantic relationships; rather, the depiction reflects the harsh realities of many real-life relationships. Kishimoto portrays Naruto and Sasuke's marriages with little prior development; perhaps a deliberate narrative choice rather than an oversight, highlighting their dissatisfaction through their roles as absentee fathers.
And in terms of specifics, Naruto's marriage seems to revolve more around Hinata than anything else. Consider this: why is Naruto portrayed as uncharacteristically serious and subdued when interacting with Hinata? Even during the pivotal moment when he finally confesses his love to her, his demeanor remains stoic and solemn. Where is the goofy and expressive Naruto we know and love? Additionally, why does Kishimoto include comments from other characters urging Naruto to "treat her well"? Because Naruto's marriage is not primarily about him; Hinata simply happened to be there, and it’s his duty to follow up on that.
And for Sasuke, why do we see panels like the family dinner in Boruto where Sasuke appears utterly miserable? Why is Sasuke never around? Why didn’t Kishimoto even give them a kiss scene? Why does Sasuke mostly display emotions when he's engaged in combat or interacting with Naruto? It's because Sasuke finds purpose and vitality in fighting for his beliefs, and Naruto is the only character depicted by Kishimoto who truly understands Sasuke's innermost thoughts and feelings. Sakura doesn't get Sasuke's essence. Isn't a marriage supposed to be built on true understanding, and progression?
One way we can see it is, Kishimoto, as an artist, is deliberate with his drawings, and these details are not mistakes. Canonically, both Sasuke and Naruto are depicted as tired or subdued in their relationships. Despite Kishimoto drawing them blushing in various situations before, neither of them ever exhibits such reactions when interacting with their wives. This deliberate choice by Kishimoto, despite them being his beloved main characters, shows that Sasuke and Naruto are not in love with Sakura and Hinata.
Love and (lack of) Romance
Sasuke and Naruto are not portrayed as romantic individuals; rather, they are depicted as traumatized fighters and idealists driven by a desire to change the world.
Kishimoto remains true to this characterization throughout the series, extending into Boruto. While Naruto is largely a series about love, it's not focused on romantic love. Instead, it delves into the concept of transcendent love and optimism amidst adversity, encompassing love found in seeking revenge, striving to change the world, and fostering bonds of friendship and loyalty. The relationship between Naruto and Sasuke is the one Kishimoto gives the most development to in the series, and embodies nuances of love, rivalry, loyalty, and compromise. This love isn’t necessarily romantic, but it can also be anything because it is transcendent love. This part is up to you to decide and I believe doesn’t take away from their story either way.
Another question that arises is, does Kishimoto really just suck at writing romance? Well, not really. He’s demonstrated his ability to craft compelling romances, such as those between Minato and Kushina, and Asuma and Kurenai. However, he chose not to apply this to Naruto and Hinata or Sasuke and Sakura. Although, he does show that Sasuke cares for Karin at one point, even awakening a new power for her, but takes it back as their relationship ultimately falls victim to Sasuke's madness at the time (although I believe this relationship, along with Naruto x Sasuke, can tentatively be argued for, but I digress for now).
These decisions reflect 1) the fact that Naruto and Sasuke's characters are not about romantic love; their goals and convictions for justice are prioritized above all else 2) Hinata and Sakura are not The Ones for them. Thus, their seemingly unhappy relationships serve as a reflection of their de-prioritization of romantic love in favor of their greater missions.
Further, realistically, people don't always end up with their ideal partners. Many people settle in relationships because they desire families or because they are pursued by others, rather than actively seeking out their soulmates. Kishimoto chooses to depict Naruto and Sasuke with a lack of emotional expression with their respective spouses. Even in the presence of their own children, Naruto and Sasuke are not depicted with joyful expressions, suggesting a lack of fulfillment in their familial roles.
The Whitepill
Ultimately, the way things turned out seems disheartening at first because shows are meant to inspire and provide an escape from reality. Throughout the series, Kishimoto led us to believe in the possibility of an ideal ending, where change is attainable and love conquers all.
But, Kishimoto's decision to depict Naruto and Sasuke's inability to achieve 100% of what we desire is, in fact, profound. The truth is, we can't always get exactly what we want, but we can make small compromises and strive for justice in whatever ways we can. This struggle is something humanity has faced throughout its history. Our world is far from ideal. But, we are still able to achieve bits of justice in ways we can; we get just enough to keep us going, to leave us with the thirst for more.
Perhaps Kishimoto portrays Sasuke's surrender not because he believes Naruto is unequivocally right, but because Sasuke wants to choose love, and is inherently kind and idealistic. He cares deeply about his friend and desires to see positive change in the world. Sasuke's journey leads him to become a protector of not just Konoha, but all villages, reflecting his compassion for people everywhere.
Similarly, Kishimoto may depict Naruto continuing on as part of the existing system not because Naruto is complacent, but because he's someone who seeks to work within established frameworks rather than tearing them down completely. This approach doesn't diminish Naruto's convictions or his commitment to change; rather, it reflects his pragmatic approach to achieving his goals while minimizing disruption.
Naruto and Sasuke's best efforts serve as inspiration for us to take up the mantle and continue the fight.
Ideal World and Optimism
Despite this, Naruto’s ending does not really make sense in an ideal world. In an ideal world, there would be a more perfect compromise, we wouldn't be bound by our fate, and the oppressive shinobi system would be dismantled. Naruto and Sasuke would have more time to heal and explore the world alone, and eventually find fulfillment in their love lives; Sasuke would find someone who truly understands him, while Naruto would enjoy a relationship where he can be his true, expressive self. Sakura would be able to move past her childhood infatuation and grow personally, while Hinata would gain confidence and develop her own identity.
Therefore, reading from a purely Narutoverse standpoint, the issues I mentioned do, in fact, undermine the themes and relationships built over the course of the narrative. Maybe Kishimoto fumbled after all, and Boruto sucks, and is simply a cash grab. Or, he intentionally wanted to troll us—suddenly breaking all conventional storytelling rules is suspicious, right?
Perhaps what really happened is a mix of all these things. While there are many external influences that led to this bleak ending, Kishimoto's intentions surely play a vital role.
Regardless, Kishimoto's big mistake is being too subtle and abrupt in introducing the new concepts at the end. However, in doing so, he has successfully sparked ongoing disagreement and discourse that persists even a decade after the series concluded.
In this sense, he has effectively brought attention to the messages: make love, not war; seek change, not complacency; and find The One, don’t settle. And even if I’m wrong in everything and this whole essay is just a copium, it's a lot better to believe in my ideals than to accept defeat. Because, Naruto taught me one invaluable lesson—no matter the odds, never give up.

what your favorite song from eternal sunshine says about you: (according to me) ོ༘₊⁺☀︎₊⁺⋆.˚
intro (end of the world): you’re dramatic. not as a bad thing but as someone who feels a lot. you remember every detail and you make yourself a lot of questions like Do they actually like me? Are they just being nice? Are they faking it? Did i do something wrong? Are they judging me? Am I the only one? Do they actually love me? honey BREATHE
bye: you’re used to suffering, so used to that you don’t even suffer anymore! you prefer to put your energy in things that are worth it. if it’s not good for you, you say ‘bye bye boy bye’ and don’t waste your time. you don’t repeat mistakes. you know your worth, and you’re strong for that ♡
don’t wanna break up again: you always want to keep the peace even if it means your silence. you cry alone to not bother anyone. you live in a constant fight between what you should do and what you want to do. you don’t want to hurt others ever, even if they have hurt you. you’re self codependent. you strongly believe in “right person wrong time” type of love. and you do in fact ‘spent so much in therapy’ as the song says:)
eternal sunshine: you believe that “you can fix them” (no). everyone hates lies but you HATE. LIES. if someone lies to you it’s over forever. i’m assuming that you had been cheated on in one of your relationships or it’s your worst fear. you’re ‘the first at saying sorry’ as the song says. you’re just looking for true love tbh. a little bit passive-aggressive but nothing too bad:) you’re the best type of person to be in a relationship with!
supernatural: your love is… intense… you like to let everyone know that they’re yours and you’re theirs. (a little bit possessive, nothing crazy) you love with passion. when you’re in love you don’t recognize yourself because of how needy and cheesy you become. and you got some sexy and flirty vibes!!!
true story: you're cautious. you hate to be involved in fights/discussions but ‘if they want you to play the villain you’re totally willing to’ as the song says. you’re a badass that isn’t scared of speaking out their mind. you hate drama and people who don’t have a life of their own!
the boy is mine: you’re a little shy and possessive. you think they’re going to fall in love with you without even speaking to them!!! (me) you know that you and them are made for each other even tho you saw them twice in your life.. definitely is hard for you to take the first step but you can take your time don’t worry! you usually like people that it’s the opposite of you and that’s what makes you want them even more….
yes, and?: life of the party. great vibes for sure! you’re the friend that your friends go to when they need advice. you never have been pretty confident in the past but you learned to love yourself and ‘be your own fucking best(friend)’. you always look for the light in dark situations. you protect your energy. you’re living your best life and you dgaf about what people think! congrats!
we can’t be friends (wait for your love): you love too deeply, so deeply that it consumes you. you feel like you been waiting for love your whole life ;( but you know that at the end of the day it’s just you and yourself ♡ you speak your truth always! and you hate when people get into your life. you wish they erased your ex's memories like the movie/music video.
i wish i hated you: lucky the people you have loved because you’re the purest soul ever!!! always wishing the best to the people who’s no longer in your life. no matter how much that person hurt you in the past you can’t seem to hate them! you love to think that not being together it’s “for the best” to keep your mental peace. you feel guilty about still caring for that person. but very deeply you know that you weren’t meant to be (even tho you wanted to)
imperfect for you: “let’s stay at home and watch a movie” kind of domestic relationship. you love that feeling of familiarity and intimacy that comes with having a relationship. you protect your partner with your life. as the song says you’re ‘anxious, fucked up, too much… messy, completely distressed’ but when you’re in love all of that thoughts and problems disappear. you love with the good and the bad. you don’t care if it’s complicated being with the one you love, you will do anything to keep that love.
ordinary things: you also like domestic relationships, the familiarity and intimacy that comes with it BUT you also like adventure. “let’s disappear together to a different continent and don’t tell anyone” kind of relationship. you like to have fun with your partner (even if it’s doing the stupidest things possible) you feel that time it’s not enough when it comes to them. the meaning of love to you is being the truest version of yourself with that person.
i’m sorry if you don’t feel represented it’s just my vision:) thank u for reading! ♡ stream eternal sunshine ☀︎
this contains the word: love, partner, relationship WAY TOO MUCH! (sorry for any bad spelling or grammar mistakes)

Kirumi
Little analysis⬇️
I don't think we talk enough about how manipulative Kirumi can be. When she was considered the main suspect, she began to lie, emphasizing that she always valued the needs of others more than her own. This is partly true, but in that situation she was not caring about THEM, but about other people. And in order to remove suspicion from herself (and make everyone vote incorrectly), she used any methods. She even tried to evoke pity by crying. But the dirtiest method she used was that she used Kaede's wish to convince them that she would never try to deceive them. She knew that this wish became a symbol of hope for the group, she knew that Kaede was very important to Shuichi, she knew that it was still very difficult for him to reveal the truth. But she used it to her advantage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she was found out and already chosen as the killer, Kirumi tried to force everyone to fight Monokuma for her (which would inevitably lead to someone's death), causing everyone to feel guilty towards the entire country for which she was responsible. And it almost worked.
But Kaito brought everyone to their senses with his speech that there is no such thing as the “price of life.” They can't just give their lives because "it's would be better that way". Their lives matter. " Life's purpose is to be lived". He firmly stated that he wanted to live, which was actually a very brave act, because people could've called him an egoist for putting his life before the lives of an entire nation. However, he was supported by... Kokichi. He brought the group's attention to what Kirumi was actually trying to do. He revealed that she planned to use them to escape. And she confirmed that he was right with her words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also how different her behavior was before this from how aggressive she becomes when she sees that her tactics didn't work (and at a couple of other points during the class trial when she was just starting to get accused).
Tumblr media
I'm NOT trying to make her out to be a villain and say she's bad. But I don't like how this imperfect side of her character is often ignored. She is often positioned only as a selfless servant, which in my opinion is wrong. I DO NOT deny her selfless devotion, but I believe that the trial brought out another side of her. She really wanted to survive. She really wanted to get out. I believe that one of the reasons of her breakdown was due to the fact that she broke under the pressure of all the responsibility that was placed on her.
In the official manga, Kiyo analogizes their situation to a tradition called "jincan", where many poisonous insects are sealed in a jar and they begin to devour each other until only one insect remains. Kirumi reasons with him that if any being sees a chance to get out of the hell they are locked in, they will do anything to achieve this goal.
Tumblr media
I love how Danganronpa often defies obvious expectations. Like, you expect Kirumi to become a killer because someone will use her and she won't be able to refuse because of her desire to serve. But in reality, she almost sacrificed the lives of the entire group in order to get out herself.
In conclusion, I think it is important to recognize Kirumi not only as a obedient Ultimate Servant, but also as a girl who desperately wants to live, who is ready to do ANYTHING to get out. She is ready to go to great lengths if necessary to achieve this goal.
Tumblr media
Many of Kirumi's moments have a theme of surviving no matter what: her behavior at the Class Trial (the fact that she initially tried to frame Himiko, who can not stand up for herself), her manipulation at the end of the trial, her breakdown before her execution, execution itself, where she tries to escape so desperately that she climbs up a thorny vine through a tunnel, not stopping even when circular saws appear from the walls (her escape attempt was clearly part of the execution, Monokuma knew what she will try to do and made sure to cause her as much despair as possible, giving her hope of getting out).
She wanted to get out not only to continue to serve, but also because she just wanted to survive. She wanted to do something not only for the sake of others, but also for her own sake. Perhaps for the first time in my life.
I love seeing complex characters who have many sides and flaws. So I find it strange to see that sometimes Kirumi is only described as a obedient servant. She is so much more than that. This is exactly what I love about Kirumi, what makes her so interesting.
***
Uh, hey. I just wanted to ask if you would be intrested in seeing here more of my drv3 analysis (spoiler: most of them are ch 5 related). And if you are, should i make drawings to accompany them (like in the beginning of this post) or just post them as they are

If someday they will make last part of scream, like definitely the end who do you want as ghostfaces? I saw different opinion, probably Sam and Sidney being the most popular (in this duo or in one of them + Billy ghost duo). I personally would like to see Stu + Billy ghost as like final Buckle but that’s maybe because I love that kind of plot twist.
Let’s say that we are in different universe where scream don’t have problems with production, no one was fired and everyone are willing to come back to play their roles
I can't really see Sidney going ghostface in the context of the movie franchise as it's played out so far. Sid has successfully moved on, she retaliates unflinchingly when attacked but she doesn't attack first because she doesn't want a life of violence and vengeance. I think bringing her back in and making her a ghostface at this point would be a regression for her character and I would need that to be justified pretty well for it to work for me.
In terms of making Sam a ghostface, I think that would be a bad call in terms of her character arc. Part of what works for Sam (and I think the movies could have done a much better job of this) is that she experiences insane amounts of victim blaming but for the most part the movie sides with her.
Unfortunately we live in a world where the violent actions of victims against their aggressors are heavily scrutinized, and victimhood gets questioned if the victim is angry, imperfect, or if they fight back. Sam FIGHTS BACK though, and she isn't bad for that. I also wouldn't want to see her turned into a villain because I already feel that the representation of her mental health/hallucination situation isn't great. I don't experience psychosis so other people are better positioned to speak on this, but from what I've heard from friends the way the movie deals with this part of her character makes them uncomfy too.
SO thats why I wouldn't want Sam and Sid ghostfaces at this point. I can see them putting on the mask to fight back but I cant see them being the killers themselves.
Now on to who think should be the final ghosties:
Gale
I've been thinking she would make a good ghostface for a while but where we are in terms of her character arc in the series I think she's extra well set up for it. We've always known Gale to be cutthroat and career focused. We've also known Dewey to be someone who anchors and softens her but Dewey has passed so she doesn't have that anchor anymore. Even with the boyfriend she has in scream 6 she barely reacts when he dies; she's struggling to form real attachments. We also know she's struggling with her career. Her main subject is ghostface, that's her claim to fame and her writing doesn't sell as well without it.
So we have a Gale struggling with meaningful social connections, struggling with her career, and her entire adult life has been defined by ghostface. She's been dragged through movie after movie getting chased around and having people killed off around her, and this is where it gets meta (like a good scream movie should).
Because at this point in the franchise what can we be commenting on? We've commented on sequels, requels/reboots, trilogies to a certain extent. And to be honest I think scream 6 totally failed with the meta-commentary part here but that's a rant for another day. So I think what we need to comment on is something like genre fatigue.
We have this final girl (Gale absolutely is, even though we don't always call her that) who's been forced through movie after movie after movie, and what does that do to a character in the context of a franchise? They become flanderized. They become a hollow and superficially characterized version of themselves, occasionally they become someone you can't even recognize as the original version of the character. Of course this doesn't always happen, careful writing and attention to character progression can keep that from happening, but to be honest Gale hasn't had much of that (not none, just not enough imo).
So to bring Gale in, socially isolated, unwilling to keep forming connections because they all fucking die, and desperate for some more recognition and a paycheck, and have her put on the mask and robe to revive the series? That feels like meta-commentary, baby.
Can you even imagine the reveal of that? Especially if Sidney comes back? That would be a legitimately tragic betrayal the likes of which we haven't seen in this franchise in a second. It's always a significant other, a family member, or a friend. But we've never had a former survivor as ghostface, and certainly never the other final girl, so this would be a legitimate plot twist if done well (scream 6 plot twist fell flat on it's face for me ngl).
There's also something good about the way this comments on different reactions to trauma as well. Not everyone is like Sid. Some victims internalize the abuse and repeat the cycle, especially when they've had to re-live it over and over to the point that they're numb to it.
In terms of Gale's partner we could go a few different directions. I could see her hiring a few randoms to ghostface for her, maybe like 4 or 5 so several can die through the course of the movie and still we know it can't be over.
That said, Gale's partner could also be a freshly released Stu. While I don't think they would be super in-sync with each other, I can totally see Gale seeking him out because ultimately she's doing this all for a good story, and what could be a better story than one of the original killers coming back?
I also think that this would provide some good final act drama because Gale would clearly be trying to frame Stu as the only killer to position herself as a victim, and Stu would absolutely double-cross her. Beyond that I would love to see Stu interacting with Billy's daughter, especially because I think he would disobey Gale if she told him to kill Sam.
So yeah lmao wrote another novel but these are my thoughts. Fuck Spyglass pictures though.

Mental Health in Media - Lacey
The Lacey Games series is an interesting webseries, first presenting itself as a lost flash game upload, then presenting itself as a horror series, and finally showing its colors as a heartfelt piece about trauma.
*Heavy topics below, proceed with caution.*
Tumblr media
Through mainly Lacey's Diner and Lacey's Petshop, it is shown that Lacey has suffered CSA and neglect from her uncle, starting at a young age. But this is found under a layer of 2000s-style flash games, presenting the perfect looking Lacey in a upbeat 2000s girl life. But of course, with this genre, the deeper you get into the game, the more the truth is revealed.
In other series following similar formats, this transition is used to amplify the feeling of the unexpected; taking something innocent and turning it into something horrific. But the Lacey Games series adds many more layers to this. You see, Lacey is an in-universe stand-in for the creator of the fictional games, Rocío Yani, who like Lacey, is a survivor of this trauma. In the cases of both Rocío and Lacey, they've already escaped their abusers. Lacey is a chef, a pet shop owner, and goes about her day to day life within these flash games. But despite escaping her physical situation, her past always leaks into the present. In Lacey's Petshop, she returns to the house she grew up in -- the house she was abused in. Just because she has escaped her abuse doesn't mean she's escaped her trauma or the ways that effects every other aspect of her life. And so, so many pieces of media don't recognize this.
Lacey also isn't the "perfect victim" that media likes to portray abuse survivors -- especially CSA survivors -- as. The whole climax of Lacey's Petshop is that she killed her uncle, her abuser. Not because she was actively trying to escape, but because he killed her dog. Lacey's Diner also implies that Lacey (and by extension, Rocío) deals with substance abuse, another thing that media discussion mental health loves to demonize. After she escapes her uncle, she still has these destructive habits, she still deals with self-h4rm and su1cidality. She wasn't just some innocent girl, she was a human being who had everything taken from her.
I believe the Lacey Games series can be powerful to people who have survived what Lacey has. Society and media recognize and accommodate victims until they break the mold of a "victim". Trauma doesn't go away with the situation, it persists throughout one's life and seeps into aspects that could otherwise seem normal. And the thing that makes this worse is the constant demonization of the "imperfect victim". We may not be killing our uncles or baking various health-violating items into food like Lacey does, but feeling like shit and going through shit doesn't make you a horrible person.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading. I wasn't quite sure how to end this, so I just did. If I got anything wrong, please make sure to tell me!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM “A PERFECT BODY”
[session 23 of “Keys to the ultimate freedom” by Lester Levenson]
♡ Change your inability to being able. If you cannot perfect the body you should learn to do so.
♡ When one has enough understanding, no matter what happens to the body, it is all the same to him.
♡ If we want a perfect body and we don't have a perfect body, it means that we don’t have the conviction that we make the body perfect. It means we are subconsciously holding in our mind a consciousness of an imperfect body. The body is an exact copy of the mind, the body being only our consciousness projected outwardly. We must change our subconscious thinking until we subconsciously have the conviction that our body is perfect. That will do it.
♡ The discipline of having an imperfect body and not allowing it to bother you is a very high spiritual discipline. Many fully realized masters go through life with a sick body, setting an example of non-emphasis on the body, because the body is a cage of limitation. We are not in the body but the body is in us. Our greatest limitation is, "I am this body." Not only is the body a limitation but also associated with it are hundreds of other limitations.
♡ (he got injured - slipped a disc in his spine) Now, what happens is that the body doesn't bother me if I'm not the body. I was aware that there was a pain, but it was like a weak distant pain and did not bother me. The body acted just as though it were not imperfect.
♡ I've done that at other times. I once sprained an ankle and it swelled. That's painful too, and when I did not identify with the body, I walked off as though the foot were perfect and yet there was a sprained ankle there.
♡ When I had that slipped disc, I'd awaken in the morning and, forgetting, I would not immediately not be the body and the pain would be severe. To get out of bed I'd actually have to fallout on hands and knees. I remember doing this the first day or two. Then I'd shake my head and say, "Wow, what is this!" Recognizing the situation, I would say, "Oh, I am not the body," then I'd stand up, move through the day as though the body were O.K. and the body could do any thing and every thing; and yet, there was a weak distant pain that I knew was there but it didn't bother me. Now, this type of disciplining is excellent if one can do it. Be not the body!
♡ Q: Wouldn't it be so much simpler to simply say, "The body's perfect," and then have a perfect body? After all, you control your body,-why even have the pain or feel uncomfortable when you get out of bed? Lester: Well, when I got out of bed I was identifying with the body; that's why it pained so. But the moment I didn't, everything was all right. I'd stand up and the body would do anything. Now, this is a test of your spiritual knowingness. This is much higher. This is being not the body.
♡ A perfect body is not the highest state. A body is a limitation even when it's perfect. It's a perfect body. It’s still a body, but perfect. A higher state is not being the body but being the All.
♡ Be not the body! Be what you really are! Be infinite! Be the All! Perfection is not a perfect body. Perfection is absolute perfection. Although you have a tendency to bring it down into perfect things, perfection does not relate to things. No thing is perfect. Every thing is a thing of limitation, confined to form and space. So the top state, the absolute, is a state of no things. It’s just beingness, or pure consciousness, pure awareness. That's not being a body, a thing. It's just being.
♡ So to sum it up, of course we should have perfect bodies! If we have bodies that pull on our attention all the time, it’s difficult to seek the Truth. So rid yourself of body demands. Make the body as perfect as you can; however, it is a higher state when the body does not affect us because of our not identifying with the body.
♡ We artificially create a lack and then a desire to relieve that lack, which, when that lack is undone, we feel better. It's like sticking a pin into you. It hurts and you take it out and say, "Gee that feels good." This is exactly what enjoying things and people is. We hurt ourselves by creating a lack and then remove the lack, the pain, and say, "Gee that feels good. That makes me happy." Every time you feel happiness, you feel only your real Self, more or less. The happier, the more you feel your real Self. And you wrongly attribute it to things and people outside of yourself.
♡ The mechanism of it is this: When you create the lack, you start up thoughts of I need this person, this thing, to make me happy. That causes a bit of pain, -a need, a lack-which when you are relieved of that thought of lack you return back to being your Self and this is what we call happiness. This is something very great to be achieved: to see that your happiness is inherent. That which you have been calling happiness is doing away with happiness and then restoring it and wrongly attributing it to external people and things.
♡ What happened to me was that I saw that there's as much life in this body as there is in a piece of wood. It's composed of carbohydrates and minerals, the same chemicals as in a piece of wood; that the only life in this body is I. I put the life into the body. I saw that the body is my consciousness, and my consciousness puts the life into it. When you see that you make the body, then you can change it. You can mentally change it.
♡ Now, the body we have now is the accumulated education, body-wise, that we have gathered up to date. This is my concept of a body. That's your concept of your body. It's deeply subconscious right now. This is why it's difficult to change the body. To perfect it requires seemingly impossible letting go of all these past concepts of imperfection of body. This, however, is the negative way of doing it, that is, of eliminating the negative concepts of imperfection. It's a difficult way.
♡ Then there is the better way, the positive way of putting in what should be there, a picture of a perfect body in your mind. Now, this picture of the perfect body must be put in with will power, more powerful than the sum total of all the pictures in the past of an imperfect body. You must imagine the picture of a perfect body with a thought that's stronger than all the past thoughts.
♡ A powerful thought is a concentrated thought. The more concentrated, the more powerful the thought. A concentrated thought is a thought without other extraneous thoughts present at the time. The very best way to get a most powerful thought is to let go of your self, your little self; let go of your feeling that I have this and I have that. Then say. "Yes, there is only perfection, and that includes this body." Let go of the world; let go of your thinking as your mind is your biggest obstacle.
♡ Your mind is going all the time, whether you're aware of it or not. When you're not conscious of it, it's going on subconsciously. You've trained yourself to think, think, think. You've got the mind spinning with all these thoughts. You've given a lot of importance to this thinking. The importance of it is also subconscious, so it's not easy to let go of the importance of thinking. And this is an obstacle to your concentrating. If you could let go of thinking, and in just one easy thought with no other thoughts around, think "I am perfect," you'd instantly have a perfect body. It'll take a continuous trying until you achieve it. An almost effortless thought is the way it is effected because your mind is quiet at the time. And you might not even be aware of it when it happens. You might become aware of it later on.
♡ See, when it does happen, you're accepting the positive so much that the negative is forgotten for the time being. To sum it up, the thing that will affect a perfect body is a very strong conviction "My body is perfect." Saying it in another way, it is a concentrated thought, which is a thought undisturbed by other thoughts at the time. And the feeling is a feeling of let-go. You just let go and let the perfection be.
♡ Q: Well then, what you're really saying is that when you see all perfection, your thoughts are so based upon perfection your body automatically takes that perfection. Lester: Yes, if you see the all-perfection, then everything is absolutely perfect, everything.
♡ Q: And this being very, very peaceful, - if you go into psychosomatic medicine, they claim that the body difficulties are caused by turmoil in the mind. And if these are quieted, then the body may be corrected without any thought about it. Lester: Yes, if you quiet the subconscious mind. You see, the body is working on an automatic pilot. Everything happening in the body, we are doing subconsciously, automatically. So, you have to straighten out the subconscious thinking.
♡ (this is about when he had his own Realization ) Q: When you were in New York and you accomplished much, did you do it systematically? Did you just see perfection so completely, or did you realize the power of your mind? Just exactly what method did you use? Lester: Well, when I did it, it was almost like a byproduct. I sat down with a determination to get the answers to "Who am I, -what am I? What is this world? What is my relationship to it?" In the process of which I saw the Perfection and that this universe, including this body, was a product of my consciousness, my thinking. I therefore imagined the body as perfect and instantly it was. It was very easy. It was like an almost effortless thought.
♡ Actually, the whole material world and the body are very similar in creation. They are the physical out-projecting of our mind.
♡ See, it does not help you much when I tell you what I did. You've got to do it your way. And as I see it, your way is overcoming the accumulated wrong body-thinking of the past. Now this is a carry-over from a prior life. This is how deeply engrained it is in you. If you can perfect it, good. If you can't, don't make a big issue of it because it's better to live with it and not be it. Get your spiritual understanding. That's far more important.
♡ Q: As I understand it, if I have a sense of perfection, which would include my body, the body could not be imperfect. Lester: That's correct. Get it! And when you get it, not only the body but everything becomes perfect, which is far better than having just a perfect body. Then you have the whole universe perfect and that's a very, very high state. To see the perfection where the imperfection seems to be is the highest state.

So what's the difference between Horde Lord Adora and Adora Empress of the Universe?
Now that I see "Adora Empress of the Universe" on my screen I giggle a little hahah, I should have said "Goddess" instead
I think I should go down this Rabbit Hole, I want to explain why they are different and why does it matter in contrast with our beloved protagonist in canon.
Goddess Adora is even more terrifying than mean Horde lord adora
Tumblr media
(Disclaimer 1: These hypothetical scenarios are fiction for a reason, because otherwise they could lead to weird and toxic situations. Please do not go seeking Horde Lords or Empresses of Universes IRL)
(Disclaimer 2: Adora as Goddess could be a creepy scenario under some lights)
(It's long but it will make sense I promise)
Adora the Mean Girl
Do you remember when Nate Stevenson tweeted about Adora Being Slythering trying to be a Gyffindor?
Tumblr media
I always think about the implications of this.
Adora is a mean girl at core level but chooses to control her inner shadow because she is a Chad. Catra on the other hand goes out of her way to seem like the perfect bad girl because she is a bottom as a way to impress and peacock her mean queen
Most Horde Lord Adora AUs follow an understandable direction for someone in Adora's shoes as an imperfect complex person: she never finds the sword, she is convinced Horde=Good and her demeanor, vision of the world and herself are twisted. This girl becomes a powerful person, but not powerful enought to destroy the fabric of the Universe, so we are ok with her as Adora being a mean girl and lose a little as Horde Lord Adora (Because we all know she would never, she would find a way to redemption eventually)
Tumblr media
(One of the many reasons I like adora is because, yes, she is the hero, but she was a mean girl first, so even if she genuinely love her princesses friends, deep down sometimes she laughs at their expense in her mind, specially when her eyes meet the water fountain not-for-showering in the morning. Post season 5 Adora 100% makes some princess jokes and spills tea when nobody but Catra can hear.)
But then this mean girl finds a sword that gives her goddess-like powers.
Tumblr media
(To some degree we are ok with Regina writting vile things attached to the names of her clasmates in the Burn Book. Nasty sure but nobody is gonna die because its not a Death Note. But then imagine for a second Regina finding that she is the chosen one in charge of a great responsability she cannot deny or else the world is over.)
The Horde brainwashes these kids to believe princesses are bad, wild, dangerous and unpredictable as Adora once said. The truth is ... they could be actually. Human Beings (Etherians and all Beings with self awareness for that matter) are unpredictable. Princesses are normal folk with supernatural magical powers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pre-Season one Adora probably made an (strawman) image of them in her mind, had nightmares with that strawman often. But here is the trick: it takes to be one to know one, (or You have to be a bit evil to recognize evil in others) Poor Adora probably had one or two intrusive thoughts about what could she be capable of if she herself was a princess, sh*tted bricks and then deemed nobody should have those powers.
Tumblr media
Thank God this is not the episode of The Boys as the Horde made us believe and princesses here are actually good, the idea of causing harm deliberately using their powers doesnt even occurr to them (well maybe to Glimmer on a bad day, shes also a baddie)
So logically when Adora transformed into Shera for the first time, there was absolute terror in her eyes. One of her nightmares became true.
So she chose to be good. Deliberately. Consistently. Every single time. And that made her a hero. She never claimed something for herself even when in theory she could crown herself as Queen of all of the kindoms. Adora in canon is impresive as a protagonist and really deserves love.
Tumblr media
So:
if Adora becomes a horde lord, it means she failed as a hero (or If Adora becomes the empress of the universe in exchange for saving the world, she also failed as a hero).
But if by some hypotetical reason she becomes The Goddess of the Universe, that's different. That's Madoka Territory
Tumblr media
The idea of someone being able to do evil without any repercussion but choosing not to is shaking, amusing and eerie to me. We all want to think we are good and incapable of doing evil but Human Beings are weak creatures and power almost always corrupts. unless you are a God
Imagine that, just before Shera could release the magic of the Heart all over Etheria, something weird happens (let's say madokafication) and Adora, born a mortal with imperfections, needs and desires, becomes a God, while still having human (First Ones) nature.
Imagine you are Catra,
God is a lesbian
and she loves you
Tumblr media
Imagine the person you love and loves you can control literally everything, she does not just keep the bed warm for you, she makes the whole world and reality a warm place for you if you are cold. She has idk 3 biblically accurate angels as pets and doesn't even bat an eye about it.
That would be insanely cool, but also incredibly bizarre. It would mean trusting a human being to choose to be good at any moment because otherwise things would go south
Can you trust Adora to keep choosing to be good everytime as a goddess just as she was when she was a hero? She has absolute control over you.
It's terrifying yet interesting.
I imagine adora in goddess form as something beautiful but insanely frightening and otherwordly while saying "Be Not Afraid" Lol.
Tumblr media
But I would love to hear/read the thoughts of the people here
Good Goddess Adora is even more terrifying than mean Horde lord adora

Pairing: miss Peregrine x miss Cuckoo
Tags: Hurt/comfort, dialogue, womance, support, romantic, perekoo, problems, friends, lovers, ect.
Briefly: "You know... If it wasn't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me. You always save me when my existence is on the verge, and my condition is close to breakdown".
"We have been saving each other for..."
"A little less than all our lives, yes," the younger Ymbrene barely smiled, which deeply pleased the Cuckoo.
Notes: Hi, it's fic about my fav pair in Peculiar children. I think, that Riggs didn't really opened for us feelings of miss Peregrine. So Isabel is closest person to her, that's why...
Don't be critical, English is not my language, I'm going through learning it. Hope you like it 🌿🌟
You can write your opinion (please) 🌠
"Mr. Portman! This girl is not your concern!" Miss Peregrine screamed.
No one had ever heard her scream like that before. The room became very quiet. Even the street noise coming from outside the window seemed to have stopped.
The headmistress was shaking with anger, but suddenly she seemed to stumble, staggered, but quickly grabbed the windowsill, finding support in it. Bronwyn was about to rush to the directress, but she stopped her with her palm and rubbed her eyes with the other.
"Miss Peregrine, are you okay?"Bronwyn asked anxiously.
"I'm sorry, I haven't slept for many days," the woman said briefly and continued, "For the sake of the common good, sometimes you have to put up with the imperfections of the world," she said. "The safety of one person is nothing compared to the safety of many thousands".
Jake was angry too and didn't want to calm down. And therefore he couldn't come up with anything reasonable, but just blurted out:
"Well, shit!"
Bronwyn gasped. None of the children allowed themselves to speak to Miss Peregrine in such terms.
Miss Peregrine stepped forward. She leaned over his bed.
"Yes, Mr. Portman, it's shit. But when you have to choose between one shit and another, it becomes clear why it's so shitty to be a ruler. And it is for this reason that we do not involve — and will never involve — children in making decisions of national importance".
With these words, the directress abruptly turned around and stormed out of the room, finally slamming the poor door, which made everyone shudder. If Miss Peregrine spoke in such terms, it means that she really lost her nerve.
Alma was soon walking down the corridor, almost breaking into a run, but her limp did not allow this. Unbidden tears blurred her eyes, even though the woman desperately shooed them away. Her vision was blurred, either from moisture or from days of lack of sleep and hunger, and Miss Peregrine had to lean against the wall, but she did not slow down. She herself did not understand where her own feet were taking her, because her office was completely in the other direction. But then suddenly, from around the corner, she bumped into someone and completely lost her bearings in space, and at the same time her support. Therefore, she would have fallen in disgrace now if not for someone's hands that caught her in time. The semi-conscious Alma did not immediately realize who the unknown was, but he threw one of her arms over his neck and grabbed her by the waist, preventing her from falling. That's her, that's what Miss Peregrine saw in her voice.
"Oh, Alma, Alma, what's wrong with you?" exclaimed a voice, and in it the woman recognized Miss Cuckoo, "Okay, okay, everything will be fine now."
Saying this, Isabella slowly led her friend to her room, and concurrently to her office, which, fortunately, was very close. Meanwhile, Miss Peregrine Falcon had already recovered a little to vaguely realize the awkwardness of the situation.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I..." she tried to justify herself in a confused way, "I do not know how it happened..."
To all this, Isabel only replied with her "everything will be fine now."
Nevertheless, they finally reached the office and, entering and slamming the door with her foot, the Cuckoo sat Alma down in an armchair. Slowly, the picture in Alma's eyes gained some clarity, and she immediately saw a glass of burgundy liquid held out to her in front of her. With a somewhat trembling hand, she accepted it and immediately took a small sip. The red wine rolled pleasantly down my throat, meanwhile, it was the first meal of the day.
Isabella plopped down on the next chair and stared at her friend expectantly.
"How are you?"
Alma didn't know how to answer this question correctly at the moment. All the words and thoughts were spinning in my head at once: what Jack had said, the negotiations with Leo Burnham, the endless recorded appeals to Jacob, who had disappeared with her children, all sent to voicemail.
"Why?.. why did they do this to me?.." she spoke between ragged sighs, and for some reason her lips curled, "Am I... am I doing so little?"
Alma felt the warmth of the palm on her own and fixed her eyes full of tears on the woman sitting next to her.
"Don't say that, please," she whispered in her soft, insinuating voice, "Portman has not yet felt how failure can trample him into the mud".
"But he's so young, and he's already been through so much, poor boy..."
"And you, Alma? Have you been thinking about yourself?"
"I told them so much," Ymbryne continued, not noticing the question, "But... for what that risk of yourself and all the other children so much? I sent about a hundred messages and there was no response to any of them, what was I supposed to think? They... they put me to sleep, you know?"
The elder Ymbryne was outraged by such behavior of children. Perhaps Miss Peregrine had done too much for them. For them, she is something permanent, and her nerves are made of iron. She is capable of experiencing anything and finding answers to everything. But it seems that such abilities are not included in her peculiarity.
"I have no idea, dear. You've done an endless amount of good for them, and they've treated you like this. As a common obstacle to their plans. Do you know that they have no idea what all of us, and you in particular, had to do to save their asses?"
Miss Peregrine was a little taken aback by these words and looked up, full of unshed tears, at the Cuckoo's face.
"Yes... yes, you're right. But the most terrible thing is that he carried away the others as well. I thought I had at least some people I could trust".
"You have me. And I'm there already a little less than a lifetime," Isabel reminded.
Peregrine convulsively tipped the remaining wine down her throat and, grimacing and setting aside the empty glass, timidly stretched out her hands. Isabella instantly understood this gesture and hugged the poor woman around her trembling fragile shoulders. Alma felt the silvery short hair tickle her cheek pleasantly, and the salty paths tighten the skin on her face. She burst into tears, she burst into tears like a stupid girl disappointed in people and the world for the first time. It seemed that the actions of many people could warn her against another pain. First of all, her siblings betrayed her way back in the past. But in this sense, Alma was stubborn, especially with regard to her children.
"When will you stop blaming other people's misdeeds on yourself, my dear bird," the Cuckoo seemed to read her thoughts, drawing circles on her back with thin fingers, "It's not your fault that your brothers renounced the weird ones, it's not your fault that Imbrina is supposed to limit children, it's not your fault that Jake disobeyed you and asked others others".
At each "not your fault" Miss Peregrine shuddered harder, but Isabella hugged her even tighter.
"But I could have behaved differently..." Alma tried frailly. That was her last excuse.
"You behave differently too often and adjust to others, Alma. So you can lose yourself," the Cuckoo whispered unobtrusively.
After these words, the Peregrine Falcon gradually calmed down. The trembling passed and became less frequent, the tears soon ended. Alma reluctantly extricated herself from the cozy embrace and looked at the most desirable facial features.
"You know... If it wasn't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me. You always save me when my existence is on the verge, and my condition is close to breakdown".
The elder Ymbryne smiled broadly and warmly. This charming smile has been exciting Alma for ages, however, as well as every line of her face, every gesture and the whole of her.
"We have been saving each other for..."
"A little less than all our lives, yes," the younger Ymbryne barely smiled, which deeply pleased the Cuckoo.
"That's right, and it's very important for both of us".
"But all good things come to an end," sighed Miss Peregrine, "Like this evening, because I have to go..."
"No need, you should stay here. It's about midnight and you're not feeling well," Isabel protested softly.
Alma herself, lulled by that velvety voice and long hugs, did not want to return to her dark office to the table, where reports and papers related to the search for children were still scattered, to the cold bed, which she had not even had time to touch for the last week. The woman winced at the gloominess of the image of her abode.
"Okay, if I don't cause much discomfort. You only have one bed..."
"Oh, it's not as small as it looks," the Cuckoo caught herself.
Under the gaze of another Ymbryne, she spread out the bed and invited her. Peregrine took off her suffocating business clothes with some shyness, remaining in only a chemise. Isabella did the same. It reminded both of their years at Ymbrynes' Academy, when they lived in the same room. How long have they been carrying their friendship. Alma came closer to her friend and looked into the coffee eyes, which turned amber in the dim light of the lamp.
"I remember the years at the Academy".
"It's true," replied the Cuckoo, remembering that even during the first meeting she fell in love with Alma LeFay Peregrine for her emerald eyes even before the first conversation, "It was a glorious time, unforgettable".
They lay down slowly, facing each other. It didn't bother them at all. Even as children, they often escaped from nightmares in this way.
"You're going to have to sleep off a week of sleepless nights, honey. So sweet dreams and good night," the Cuckoo whispered.
"You haven't slept much either. That's why the same goes for you, honey," Alma replied and chuckled softly.
The sound made Isabel's skin crawl. At that, they fell silent and the Peregrine was the first to close her eyes. When she seemed to fall asleep, the Cuckoo lightly touched her pale cheek with her lips. After that, she closed her eyes, falling asleep. And she will not know that Alma felt this touch and smiled imperceptibly, and only then plunged into a pleasant dream without nightmares.

"We could have ourselves quite a fling... Tail to tail, feather to feather- don't you think we oughta flock together~?" (x)

New Dog's Life chapter today! ~ 3rd Life series fan-season
Chapter 30 - “Scintillate (Bdubs)”
❤️ Read on AO3
💛 Start from Chapter 1
💚 More Pixels Imperfect fics
---
After a long debate, the Jungle Duo agree to restructure their archaeologist roleplay into romance. Bdubs can roll with anything- it's fine! He's not feeling lonely and worthless after passing his phantom flock captain title to Martyn.
Grian, who just took a slap in the face from Scar rejecting his QPR proposal, opts to throw caution to the wind like the chaos-chasing bird he is. Let's plan a little roleplay...
(First 1,000 words under the cut)
---
BdoubleO100
Status: Taking the lead
Captain of New Star Station’s phantom hybrid flock
💙  🧡  💚
Grian’s idea of a skin change, apparently, was pulling his goggles down over his eyes and switching out his red sweater for a green one. When Bdubs gives him a pointed look, Grian whips his Sherlock Grian hat out from behind him and situates it carefully on his curls. They’re extra fluffy today… Bdubs wonders drearily if that’s just part of the costume change or if Grian’s trying to get a reaction out of him. Oh, he’ll get a reaction…
Bdubs crosses his arms. There are several farm servers and they keep the portals in a hallway-shaped building of the same name. One’s for sheer optimization- Testing, fiddling, and demonstrating farms at max efficiency. Several are for mobs. One of the food servers is a little tamer and you get a lot of recipe theorists practicing their culinary crafting in there. One server’s packed with restaurants. Kinda defeats the purpose when it won’t leave you saturated in Between, but Scott likes to review the required resources (read: taste-test) before he approves them into New Star.
Then, well… There are the carrot servers. Several of ‘em, actually, just to give people elbow room. Nice way to minimize running into an ex. There are some servers with nice ballrooms or gardens to walk through, but Grian specifically asked for beds. So, cabins and beds is what he’s gonna get. Bdubs waits near the portal entrance (away from the line) and starts tapping his foot as Grian jogs up to join him. “I thought I said you don’t wanna attract attention in there.”
“Honestly, you know what I’m like. This is as good as it gets with me, mate.” Grian looks him up and down. “Don’t look at me that way when you barely changed either. Bdubs! Turn around for me.”
Bdubs gives a grunt. He picked a skin with a dark blue shirt for this, plus gray checkerboard pants. Very soft. Perfect snugglewear.  He’s still got his mossy shawl on, but it’s not a big deal if he’s recognized. He pops by the carrot server all the time. Not always ‘cuz he’s here to see someone… Far too many people steal away in their low-energy moments and forget the server will kick them out when they’re in the last few minutes of phantom hour. This place is a feeding frenzy for phantom hybrids ten minutes before the clock tower chimes.
This is where the lower-ranked members of the flock hunt, actually, ‘cuz it’s so easy it doesn’t take any skill. Bdubs can see two of them perched high in the alcoves, chatting and licking code strings from between their fingers. They’re both splattered in blue. Well-fed. It’s way too easy here.
Maybe it’s time I let you two roam the streets.
They’re not the only ones, either. The Fox Dragon’s phantoms are loitering here too. Easy pickings, they must’ve figured out. Bdubs itches to nip at them, tell ‘em to go do some real hunting in the city, but this isn’t his circus and those aren’t his monkeys. Martyn’s the one who’d have to shoo ‘em off, and he’s back at the clock tower like a good boy. He better be.
At least the rival captain’s not here. She’s got smaller wings, but Bdubs isn’t her biggest fan. She’s fine. But introducing two captains into one hunting ground without a lot of buildup is always gonna be trouble. She and Martyn prickled around each other when Bdubs set him up on a “blind playdate” Monday night. When he and Scott went back for pick-up, they were building with Lego at the same table and talking about whatever, but the ruffled hair and many scratch marks told a story that didn’t need questions asked.
Still… New Star’s a tempting hunting ground. If Martyn can’t hold his own, Charlotte’s captain might try to throw him out.
Welp. Good lesson to learn if it come to it. Not his problem tonight. While Grian smirks, tugging at the end of his mossy shawl, Bdubs turns his head towards the portal mouth. The line’s been moving at a decent speed. Grian moves towards it, but Bdubs hesitates before plodding over to join him.
“What’s up?” Grian asks, folding arms behind his head.
“… You’re gonna get scoped out as a new kid. It’s your first time on the server. We’re dropping in at spawn. That’s where they try to get you.”
“Who was this?”
“Code sellers. Don’t look at ‘em.”
“Oh.” Grian goes quiet then. People ahead of them disappear inside the portal. After a moment, Grian asks, “Did you log out at spawn?”
“Near there, yeah. At least, I think I did… But just to be safe, give me ten seconds before you step in after me. Oh, and… We’re gonna be around sparked villagers, so try not to show your hands too much. Scares ‘em.”
Grian nods. They step into a fenced-off little area of space. The white blocks and pink mist of the portal yawn in front of them. HALO Copper’s watching, splitting groups and asking people one at a time if they’re consenting to step inside. One of New Star’s phantom hybrids drapes atop the portal blocks in silent reminder that she’ll lunge if requested. Grian moves to the side while HALO Copper shoots Bdubs a skeptical look.
“Business or pleasure?”
“Oh, he better not give me any trouble.” Bdubs hooks a thumb at Grian, who waves back. “I’m here with G. No funny business and no hunting. Cross my middle heart.”
Couple more questions. The usual. Then Bdubs pops through the pink mist. He mentally grabs hold and swishes downwards, landing with a shimmer when he’s on-server and the mist is gone.
BdoubleO100 joined the game
Everything looks to be in order. He’s near the “town square,” in a partitioned-off spot surrounded by fence posts. There’s a bed a few blocks away. You’re s’posed to set spawn at the bed upfront before you leave, or at the very least they want you to break the bed you were using. You can probably imagine how awkward it’d be to die and respawn in a room someone else rented for the evening.
The spawn area’s got an open sky. It’s pretty much a town, complete with a market. The usual solicitors try and get his attention, but Bdubs flips up his hood and ignores them. He struts back and waits around the square ‘til Grian shimmers in at spawn in front of him.
Grian joined the game
Grian shows up stretching high, wings fanned out around him. Show-off. Bdubs grunts in memory of what he lost, but doesn’t comment. Since Grian changed skins, his feathers have lost their high-saturation shimmer, but there’s no denying he still looks good. Mossy green’s a pretty color on him.
Can’t wait to help with that.
“Whoo, what a rush,” Grian muses, and starts parsing the feathers in his wings as though examining them for the first time in his life. “It’s not vanilla here, then.”
“‘Cuz your wings didn’t shrink?” Baby wings are the default if you haven’t touched an elytra yet. Dog’s Life is one of the exceptions to that rule since they’ve got trait mods going on. “Yeah, the admin knows people like to flaunt ‘em. It’s why they don’t make you scrub client-side mods off before you join. C’mon- gotta put our names in the book and tell the staff when to check up on us.”
“Runs like a wheel,” Grian remarks, trotting after him.

Rambling about Good Omens with @alwaysademonneveragod (as one does) and for the sake of making each other miserable with more angst than is needed, she said: Imagine how Crowley felt seeing how easily Gabriel gave up Heaven in order to be with Beelzebub. And, yes, hello pain, old friend.
But also, there's something about this that just needs to be said, and that's that, in Aziraphale's defense, the stakes for Gabriel are so much lower than they are for Aziraphale, and this is something I think Crowley might accept and recognize once some of the pain left from Aziraphale leaving cools down a little and gives him some room to see the whole picture.
At the end of the day, Gabriel is still a character that doesn't care about much beyond himself, just as we saw in S1. We do see him more empathetic and selfless in his Jim version, but at the very core Gabriel is still rather selfish, caring mostly about himself and now, of course, about Beelzebub as well because he is in love with them. I'm not saying choosing to leave Heaven and his position as Archangel just to be with his demon partner was any less noble and romantic and high risk, but at the same time it was still easy since Gabriel doesn't personally care about much else. For them to leave to Alpha Century and never come back makes sense.
Aziraphale, however, is in a much more complex situation with much higher stakes. Making the same decision as Gabriel would make no sense with his character.
Aziraphale cares about Crowley, LOVES Crowley, but he also loves the world and, right now, he's put in a position where he has to pick one and risk the other (something he didn't want to do, and for that he asked Crowley to go with him). Aziraphale loves having his little restaurants, loves his first edition books, his records of classical music, his store of magic tricks. He loves how imperfect and messy humanity is, because all of it is part of the precious, peaceful and fragile existence he's carved for himself AND for Crowley. Aziraphale loves the world as something that's his but also as something that's theirs. That's where their love story happened, the common ground they could share together, making company for each other each time the lines of good and evil became too confusing to follow. They can't share Heaven (white) and they can't share Hell (black) but they can share the world and its immense amounts of grays.
It makes me think how Aziraphale's love for Crowley and his love for the world has fuzzy edges that bleed into each other until it's a messy whole that can't be torn apart. A whole he wants so fiercely to protect, for himself but also for both of them, him and Crowley. And, right now (manipulations being considered), he knows he has a chance of doing just that from Heaven while keeping Crowley by his side according to the Metatron's offer.
The issue is that, of course, they don't TALK and when they do they say half of the things they need to say, and it's always disguised in this carefully put together veil of pretence, never daring to cross the line of pretending there's nothing more between them than there should be. Either way, they don't TALK and if they do, they don't say enough, so now Crowley is left thinking that Aziraphale, after everything, still chose Heaven over him, but NO.
Aziraphale is choosing the world ("To the world.") He's choosing to protect this beautiful thing he found from the greedy hands of those who don't understand a thing about it and only seek it to see it destroyed in order to fulfil their own needs and wishes.
He's choosing to protect the world from yet another apocalypse, and when he chooses the world he is choosing Crowley too, because for Aziraphale one can't go without the other. Does he do it from his still present blind faith in Heaven and its goodness? Yes, and that's because his arc as a character is not done yet. But the purpose is not, in my opinion, to be back in Heave's good books. The purpose is to fight for what he loves, and that's the world and Crowley.

HALESTORM's LZZY And AREJAY HALE Open Up About Mental Health
Tumblr media
In a interview with Keen Eye 4 Concerts, HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale and her brother, HALESTORM drummer Arejay Hale, opened up about their personal experiences with a diverse array of mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, and how music has helped them get through their hardest times. Arejay said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "My life greatly improved four years ago. Going through immense heartbreak and a terrible breakup with someone you thought was your forever person really makes you a songwriter. Immense heartbreak and tragic life things that happen really, really force you to turn to music to help you cope with it, help you to get through it. So I'm thankful that I went through all that because it made me figure out how to express my emotions in music and how much better it made me feel, how much it helped me get through it. So now that I'm at a place now where my life is more stable and I have an incredible partner, I've got an adorable little dog, I'm glad I was able to kind of bring those things that I learned to the table now and utilize them when I'm writing for either HALESTORM, [my side project] KEMIKALFIRE or myself. Yeah, I think that you can get to the point where you're more mentally balanced, but you can still keep on being creative and keep on bringing things to the table."
Lzzy, who co-founded HALESTORM in her teens and has become an advocate for women and mental health in recent years, said: "And I'm so glad to see [Arejay] happier. We've all seen each other in our lowest lows and our highest highs and helped each other work through them. Arejay has been immense in my ups and downs and healing.
"Something that I try to remind myself of, I think it's helpful to remember that we're on a seesaw," she continued. "There is immense darkness and immense light on either side and one cannot exist without the other. You can't be all one way; there has to be a balance of the two. So I think that for me, if you try to flip the rhetoric and say, 'Well, I'm very grateful for the low times, because those low times were integral in making me who I am. And I like who I am today.' If I had made the best decisions in the world, it would have led me somewhere completely different and I wouldn't appreciate the fact that I've overcome that.
"I think that we have this misconception that we have to be these perfect beings, and we're just not going to be that way, and we shouldn't be that way, because without us failing, falling on our face every single time and trying to move forward, we wouldn't find, we wouldn't recognize our strength," Lzzy added. "And in a selfish way, on a personal level, regardless of whether we're musicians, songwriters, rodeo clowns or strippers or whatever we wanna be, I think that it's important that nobody's expecting you to be perfect, 'cause nobody is. So if you are, in fact, flawed, which we all are… So let's just get that out there — we are all flawed. We are all imperfect. We all make terrible decisions. We all have darkness in us. We all get to the deepest depths and think that we're the most terrible person in the world. We all are there. But as we recognize that and overcome that, you're going to be getting so much more from people. We get so much more from our fans, from our family by admitting to all of that and by showing all of that, because anyone who is looking at you for inspiration or looking at you, especially with us, with that imposter syndrome situation, and if they're looking at you like it's somebody that they want to be, how cool is it that you can say, 'You know what? I'm just as fucked up as you are, and I'm still here.' And that says something."
HALESTORM is currently working on a new album with producer Dave Cobb after making three records with Nick Raskulinecz.
Lzzy and Arejay formed HALESTORM in 1998 while in middle school. Guitarist Joe Hottinger joined the group in 2003, followed by bassist Josh Smith in 2004.
Last May, HALESTORM teamed up with country singer Ashley McBryde for a reimagined version of the band's song "Terrible Things", which was originally featured on HALESTORM's latest album, 2022's "Back From The Dead".

Tumblr media
The brutal change in your life was getting hard to get used to, you knew and loved this world but living in it was totally different. Especially, when you were someone they looked up to, but you never asked or were prepared for this.
You felt so tired, not abled to handle the thoughts conquering your brain. Missing your old world, even for its imperfection, they kept saying it wasn't your true home, but yet, all the memories you had were there, they ignored that, just brushing it off as a distraction from your path to them. The worries overtaking of how you were going to live up to their expectations as their God, you were just a simple human with now a million of people watching your every move. The overwhelming praises that were thrown to The Creator, thanking whatever impact you supposedly did on them, but for all the sorrow, your name was cursed from everyone's lips, it was like they set you up and expected you to take the fall.
In this moment, Kaeya was next to you, sent for protection by the knights, even when you requested to have time for yourself, outside the city. He didn't have any choice, but he understood your discomfort, unlike many, he saw you as a human first. He knew the feeling of being thrown in a new place and expected to serve your role, when you were tore between where was your true home, so he stayed silent, letting you some space to think.
That was until he heard loud and short breathing, he turned his head to see you, hands on your mouth, trying to stop the sound. The uncontrollable tears fell like a waterfall, you closed your eyes trying to brush off the tears as the landscape became blurry. You didn't want anyone to see you like that, but suddenly a pair of arms found themselves around you, you were met with a cool chest, now realizing how hot your body was as the burning sensations cooled off.
"Hey... take a breath. Everything is alright."
You gasped for air when you did, you really tried, but it just made it worse, and the words didn't want to go out to say you couldn't do it. You felt Kaeya taking both of your hands in his own and pressing them gently against him.
"Calm down, just follow me. Breath in and out, like this."
You followed his movements as your pace slowed down. He whispered encouraging words in a gently tone, every of his actions felt like he was a natural, he was very calm and careful, nobody would have recognize his usual facade he put on for others. He stroked your back and hands for a while, feeling that your body relaxed he moved a bit to see your face who was buried in his jacket, so he softly put his hand on your chin to lift your head up, and cleaning the tears that tainted your cheeks.
"There we go, you did so well, I'm proud of you, Y/n."
Your heartbeat went faster, but not because of the anxiety that invaded you, no, it was his simple but loving words with his soothing voice that brought reassurance, you wanted to let it all out to him, but his hands made you lose focus and words.
"I don't know fully what's going on, on your mind, but know that you can rely on me, this isn't the easiest situation but you will not go through this alone. While, I would like to be a bit selfish and tell you that I can be the only person you can lean on, I know I'm not alone to think that."
The only response you could give was a tight hug, that he returned. Your arms were holding him like you were scared he would leave, but his fingers stroking your head told the opposite.
You blushed deeply when you realized that your face was in contact with his cleavage, face buried in it, you closed your eyes trying to not think about it and appreciate the embrace. But, it was ruined when you heard a small laugh escaping Kaeya's lips.
"Do you need to breath in and out again, darling?"
Your loving arms now pushing him out of you, embarrassed while he was smirking.
You went back to the serenitea pot with Kaeya at your side, you were scared to ask him to come as you feared that it would bother him, but, he almost immediately took your hand and led the way, even to your bedroom, with the only intention to make sure you would sleep with no worries before he left. You let him enter as you went to the bathroom, preparing for the night.
When you put yourself under the soft blanket, Kaeya blew out the candles, leaving the room in darkness with only the stars and moon for you to admire a bit of the man before you. He wished you a goodnight with his typical playful smile before opening the door.
"Kaeya."
He stopped midway, and slightly turned his head. Even if you didn't see much of his face, you continued to speak.
"Thank you."
He smiled to himself.
"No need to thank me. Just stay alright, okay?"
"Well, that would help me if you could be with me here."
You expected his usual teasing, as even you were surprised by your bold words, but the only thing that could be heard was the sound of a jacket and boots being removed. He went to the empty place of the bed and laid next to you. Without even saying anything, you both went for a cuddling position, holding each other dearly and legs intertwined.
"The others would kill me if they saw us like that, but it would be worth it if I die in your arms. Sleep well, I'll stay right next to you.

Past Cazador's prison cells and through a door labeled "Crypt Gate", we find... this.
Tumblr media
"Holy hells," Hector mumbles as they proceed down the enormous stairway leading through the crypt. The room is enormous, a giant cavern of a place, full of hanging cages and ornate gilded stonework. It would have taken decades, centuries, to build such a place. And to make use of all these cages...
At the middle of the room, suspended with abyss both above and below, stands an equally enormous platform. Seven alcoves marked with obsidian columns line its edges; six of them are filled, each with a vampire spawn suspended in midair. Several of the same werewolf creatures they fought in the ballroom pace the platform with agitation...
...and Cazador stands at the center of it all.
Tumblr media
Hector feels a strange sort of cold hate prickle through him. Everything about this situation is terrible, particularly the tangled, twisted complexities surrounding the fate of the spawn in those jail cells. But Cazador's fate is the sharp clear line that he can follow with ease. Whatever else will happen, that man cannot be allowed to live. That, at least, is certainty.
He looks back towards Astarion, gestures the other man to walk forward with him.
Tumblr media
Cazador rounds on them as they approach. He completely ignores Hector, his eyes locking onto Astarion at once with a hunger that has nothing to do with blood and everything to do with power.
Tumblr media
"Who stands before us?" he cries. His voice is high, keening, like a wolf's howl. "Is this truly our prodigal son."
Tumblr media
Astarion is looking at him with abject hatred - but involuntarily, from habit or from fear, his shoulders hunch up, his head ducking so he is looking up at the vampire lord from under hooded brows. Hector remembers him taking the same involuntary stance before Oblodra back at Moonrise Towers - the automatic submission born of centuries of torment.
Tumblr media
Cazador recognizes it too, and smirks. "Do not slouch before me, boy!" he snaps mockingly. "Have you no respect for yourself?"
His fingers tap restlessly along the shaft of the ornate staff he holds in one hand. "Look at you," he goes on, disdainful. "Crawling back after abandoning your family. You should be begging our forgiveness."
The cold cruelty inherent in these words - when Cazador is responsible for all the misery Astarion and so many others have gone through - stings Hector like a slap. How dare you, he thinks with disgust.
But he remains still. As with so many other confrontations that he has witnessed in their journeys... this is not his fight to direct. And this is, perhaps, more important than it was with any of the others, even Shadowheart -- because Astarion has been taught for so long that he had no control. For Hector to deny him that now would be the height of hypocrisy.
Keep back. Do not intervene.
Tumblr media
"Forgiveness?" Astarion cries. "You've never forgiven anything. Every mistake, every slip, was punished!"
Tumblr media
"I strove for perfection in all things," Cazador returns primly. "Even those as imperfect as you. A pity you amounted to so little, despite my efforts."
Tumblr media
"No." Astarion's voice goes hard. His fists are clenched and his eyes unblinking. "No. Fuck you. And fuck everything you've ever done to me."
Damn right, Hector thinks. Slowly, casually, he shifts his weight onto the balls of his feet. It's only a matter of time before this comes to violence.
Say nothing.
Tumblr media
Cazador laughs sharply. "I suspected you would return to me changed," he taunts. "Never did I imagine you would be so wretched." He takes a step towards Astarion, spreading his arms in a mocking welcome. "Oh, thankless child. Did I not bless you with our immortal gift? Did I not make you what you are?!"
Tumblr media
Every word is stabbing into Astarion like a knife, and the rage is building in him until finally it can't be contained. "You son of a bitch!" he howls, and hurls himself at Cazador, one fist coming up, ready to strike--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red light bursts from the base of Cazador's staff, enveloping the two of them, and Astarion cries out as he is frozen into place, his movement arrested into stillness in the space of a blink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You truly forgot my power." Cazador clicks his tongue scornfully. "You truly thought our bond as creator and creation was all that stopped you from killing me!" He steps closer, his face only a few inches from Astarion's. "You are weak, my child. You are a small, pathetic little boy who never amounted to anything!"
Astarion whimpers with pain and fury. Cazador ignores him, jerks the staff in a sudden wide arc. "But today, you will finally do something worthwhile. You will burn, and I will ascend!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instantly, Astarion is lifted into the air and hurled bodily across the platform and into the last remaining niche waiting for him. A blaze of blood and magical energy bursts around him, shattering his equipment aside and leaving him bare-chested and bathed in red. A deeply scored and elaborate scar on his back begins to glow as if flame is bursting from within his skin.
Tumblr media
"NO!" Astarion screams, and there is nothing left of his usual confidence-- the word is heavy with terror. "STOP HIM! AND GET ME OUT OF THIS!"
Tumblr media
Hector is already moving, his fists coming up, ready to strike-- but Cazador shows no fear, just a gleeful, triumphant grin. He raises his arms, crying out to the heavens, to whatever dark god he serves.
Tumblr media
"Witness the birth of the Vampire Ascendant!" he bellows. "ECCE DOMINUS!"

How often is the conditional tense really used in spanish? I feel like I almost never see it unless it's used with poder. I feel like many of the instances when we would use conditional in English work better with subjunctive in Spanish. Would you say my instincts/observations are right?
The conditional tense is used a decent amount, though sometimes it's replaced by other tenses in indicative, not usually (but not always) by the subjunctive
Typically, conditional tense is used for hypothetical situations, what someone "could" do - but implies a certain possibility
As an example: puedo ir "I can go" vs. podría ir "I could go"... both kind of imply the same thing, but podría feels like future planning or a specific "if/then" sentence; but just by themselves they seem interchangeable
Meanwhile I would consider subjunctive to be a more doubtful "might", conditional is more certain "could" or "would be able to"
The primary way that conditional is used is for "if/then" statements, although there are cases where conditional is omitted. Typical standard Spanish says "if" is imperfect subjunctive, while conditional is "then"
Si fueras rico/a, ¿qué harías? = If you were rich, what would you do? Si tuvieras la oportunidad, ¿qué dirías? = If you had the chance, what would you say? Viajaría más si pudiera. = I would travel more if I could.
*Note: Imperfect subjunctive has 2 different forms, the ones that seem to end in -ara/-iera are more common in Latin America genereally, and the ones ending in -ase/-iese are more common in Spain; this is really more about imperfect subjunctive when it's used as contrary to fact statements / unlikely hypotheticals which read as for the sake of argument - "if you were", "if you were to", "if you could have" etc.
Again, sometimes people omit the conditional here and use both imperfect subjunctive but standard Spanish definitely uses conditional more
-
What you quickly find with subjunctive vs conditional is that English doesn't have a very clear distinction. We use "could", "would", and "should" for past, subjunctive, and conditional which makes it very difficult to recognize it in Spanish
As an example si podría "if I could" implies a certainty, while si pudiera reads more doubtful like "if only I could"
Even "were" is odd in English - "we were" [fueron/eran] is past tense, but "if I were" [si fuera] is imperfect subjunctive
-
Related to the section above, is that very often "should" is debería in conditional
This confuses even native Spanish speakers as they try to decide if an expression "coulda, woulda, shoulda" sound better in conditional or imperfect subjunctive
[Note for non-native speakers: this is colloquially a form of "could have, would have, should have" but as an expression you kind of just shorten it to "coulda, woulda, shoulda" and it sometimes comes in different variations like "woulda, coulda, shoulda"]
In my experience, standard Spanish does them typically in conditional - talking about a "then" statement were the implication is "if only" which is imperfect subjunctive... like "(if only I had known) I could have / would have / should have"
An important distinction: debería as "should" is often used for things that haven't been done yet, like making plans... if talking more about things someone "should have done" in the past, you sometimes see it in past tense debía/debió like "must have / ought to have"
I find debería as "should" gets more used in talking about regrets or making plans - if not just regular present tense
I see a lot of debería + haber... like no deberíamos haber llegado tarde "we shouldn't have come late", deberían haber dicho la verdad "they should have told the truth", deberías haberme llamado antes "you should have called me earlier/sooner"
...
However, you're not wrong in thinking that conditional feels a bit redundant with subjunctive, that's why there are parts of the Spanish-speaking world that don't use conditional as much. The typical replacement is imperfect subjunctive
But in castellano [official Spanish] at least, and in a lot of literature, you still see conditional used... colloquially however, conditional is sometimes less common
