Version One | The One Where They're All Together
She was walking through campus with her friend, talking about what had just happened in the past day that they had seen each other. As they got closer to their destination a man approached them. He was around their age, maybe a year or two older, he had a microphone in one hand as a camera guy trailed behind him, “Do you guys have any siblings?”
The two nodded, a little skeptical, “I’ll give 20 dollars to whoever can convince their sibling to send them more money than the fiend person.”
Her friend whined, “No, her brothers are rich, this is so easy for her, it isn’t fair.”
“Oh, they’re actually all together right now so that works! Wait, why am I making them send me money? I’ll think of something.”
Y/n pulled out her phone and face-timed Jack, hoping that out of the three of them, he’d pick up, “Hey y/n/n!”
Quinn and Luke joined the frame soon after, “Uh hey, can I ask you guys a huge favor?”
All three raised an eyebrow, but Luke answered, “What is it?”
“Can you guys send me some money? I need to buy a new textbook but my paycheck hasn’t come-“
“How much?”
“Like a 100? I’ll pay you back, I kind of need it soon.”
Quinn, being the big brother he loved to be, answered right away, “Yeah, of course. no need to pay me back too.”
“I promise I will.”
“Nope, I make like millions a year, I think I can spare my baby sister 100 bucks.”
“Thanks, Quinny. good luck tomorrow you guys. Love you.”
“Love you too.” The three chorused back right before she hung up.
Quinn was quick to send her the money, yet instead of the 100 she asked for, he sent her 200. Attached was a note saying that they missed her and to go buy some food for her and her friend.
“Hah, have fun beating that.”
Her friend called her sister, getting a mere $30 from her. She frowned and rolled her eyes, telling y/n that she owed her for lunch now. And after the guy left, she sent all $200 back plus the extra 20 she had just got saying it was just for a video and that she loved him. Jack and Luke whined about losing 20 dollars after that.

Version Two | The One Where She Asks All Of Them Separately
She and her friend had been walking back from class, talking about the new project that they were doing. They were on their way to grab something to eat as it had been slowly approaching lunchtime. There was a guy in the courtyard, with a microphone and his own camera guy. It was a little weird and they became a little skeptical when he asked them if the two had any siblings.
While her friend shook her head no, she replied, “Yeah, three.”
So while they couldn’t see whose sibling would send them the most money, they could see which ones out of hers would, “Okay we haven’t done this one before but I’ll give whatever sibling of yours who sends you more money 20 bucks.”
“Deal!”
She called Quinn first, figuring that out of the three of them, he would be the one not doing anything at this time of day. He answered instantaneously, a soft hi coming from his side of the phone.
“Hey Quinny, I have a favor to ask you.”
“What’s up?”
“Can you send me some money? I have-“
“Yeah, how much?”
“You didn’t even let me finish my question.”
“You’re my sister, I’m going to send you money no matter what. I mean unless you’re buying drugs, are you buying drugs?”
“No just my-“
“Yeah okay. How much?”
“Okay, I’ll send you the money. I have to go, but I’ll call you later, okay? I love you.”
“Love you too.”
She looked back at her phone and smiled when she realized he sent her 75 instead of 50. She looked back up as she moved to call Jack, “Alright, let’s see what Jack will do.”
Jack answered his phone within the first three rings, “Y/n.”
“Jackson.”
“What’s up sasquatch?”
“I got a favor to ask you.”
“Should I be scared?”
“I don’t know, do you have a reason for the Devils to stop paying you?”
“No?” His voice was more confused than worried at this point.
“Okay cool, can I borrow some money? Just like 50 bucks.”
“For what reason?”
“I need some new books for class.”
Jack raised an eyebrow from the other side, “positive?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay fine. 50 you said?”
“Mhm.”
“I’ll send it when we hang up.”
“Thank you, Jack. I love you.”
“Love you, you dork.”
And when the phone hung up and she got a notification, she realized Jack had sent her the exact amount she was looking for, “Cheapskate. Just kidding, I’m sending this back anyway after this video. Alright, I highly doubt Luke will send me any money, but we can try at least.”
“Luke!”
“Hey y/n/n.”
“Listen I got this huge favor I need to ask you.”
“Whatever it is, no.”
“Not even for your favorite sister?”
“Not even for my “favorite” sister. What is it anyway?”
“I was just wondering if you could send me some money for my-“
“Yeah, no.”
“What do you mean no? You didn’t even let me finish?”
“I’m broke.”
“You play hockey for a living and make more than me right now.”
“So? Get your own money.”
She scoffed, “Rude. And this is why you aren’t my favorite.”
“Oh well.”
“Bye Luke.” She hung up before he could say anything else.
“And just for that I’m sending Quinn and Jack like an extra 20 each.”

Wriothesley x Reader
warnings: a stalker (not wrio), insecurities, fear, grammatical errors, etc.
small note: insinuated that both of them end up together at the end but not explicitly said.
(not gender specific btw!!)
Currently thinking of a scenario (or maybe a future fanfic someday) where you are an amazing author in Fontaine who feels like writing was the biggest mistake you could have ever made.
At first, writing was your passion, it was what led you to fame and the creation of a certain all-time hit detective series that people all across of teyvat like to read.
At first, writing was what made you happy. You could stay home all day without having to venture out of the safety and comforts of your home. Didn't have to worry about your next paycheck, if you'll have enough mora for tomorrow, or if you'll have enough to pay rent by next week. Sure you had deadlines, but since you loved to write and managed your time wisely - deadlines weren't ever an issue.
But slowly, as you rose to fame, admirers and fans were quick to swarm.
It got to the point that you would get mountains of letters a day (almost by the hour). And as a pushover as you were (your parents never really taught you how to stand up for yourself), you quickly found yourself writing to each fan back who sent you letters or gifts. Thanking them. Talking to them. Even becoming penpals too.
Then there was one man in particular who started to get too creepy. Too close for comfort.
His letters started to get disturbing. He would introduce himself with a fake name but tell you that he was a young man in his late twenties. How your books gave him life and meaning. How he would see you walking the streets and even got your schedule down when you would go to the grocery store or hangout with friends.
It was then when you would find that you had gained your own stalker. It was then that maybe getting the spotlight on you and through your writing was a bad idea.
If only I didn't share my real name. I wonder if things would be different...
Despite the mental stress the man was placing on you. You tried to push those thoughts away even though the fear of being watched at all moments throughout the day ate away at you. Your own home wasn't your safety net any longer, you feared.
You couldn't bring yourself to tell anyone, opting out for dealing with this yourself.
You tried to tell the man to stop. He didn't.
Warned him.
Yelled at him when you would spot him hiding.
Screamed when he broke into your home. Kicked and thrashed around.
It was then when your neighbors called for the garde. Immediately coming to the rescue due to all the noise you both were causing.
And soon a trial was held. The man was immediately found guilty for a numerous of things. Theft, stalking, attempted kidnapping, breaking and entering, etc.
And even when he was sent to the fortress of meropide, you found that you just couldn't write anymore even though your hit detective series was still ongoing. Your editors, in understanding, gave the series a hiatus and let you take a vacation.
But once again, you feared.
You feared that you just couldn't write anymore.
The one thing that you enjoyed doing ended up with some crazy fan wanting more of you. You didn't want to fear anymore.
And it would be two weeks later when you would be approached by Neuvillette and Clorinde. They would tell you about the happenings within the fortress and how your presence was needed in dealing with your ex-stalker.
Apparently he had gotten into some trouble, and he wouldn't talk no matter what unless he got to see you.
So you found yourself reluctantly going. It wasn't like you were going to stay home and do anything anyway...
At the fortress now, you found yourself in a big office. Apparently it belonged to the Duke, the warden of the fortress. You learned quickly by many of the people there that you should refer to him as "your grace."
And as you sat alone in the office in one of the chairs, a noise sounded just down below.
"They're here?! Where?! I must see them!"
That voice, you couldn't help but to tremble. You didn't want to be here. Not here. But Neuvillette and Clorinde helped alot with the case and proving the man guilty, so you felt obligated to stay and forced yourself not to run away.
"Y/n! There you are! I'm so glad to see you again!"
"That's enough. You see them now, right? So get talking."
You finally got to see the Duke of the fortress of meropide (with the chief justice and Clorinde on either side of him). The duke's eyes were an icy blue, sharp and calculated. His hair black and grey, and spiked - you couldn't help but to think of how ... wolfish he looked.
"Talk? Talk?! I didn't ask you to bring them here so I could talk!"
He reached for you. Hands outstretched as if to hurt you. To pull you towards himself. But Wriothesley was already a step ahead as he grabbed the front of the man's shirt and forced him to the ground, pinning him there.
"I guess no one taught you how to treat a lady."
And maybe, just maybe writing wasn't a mistake after all. Because maybe all this time as you would write happy endings for your characters .. maybe you were waiting for your own happy ending. A happy ending where someone saves you from someone and from yourself.
At least, thats what came to mind as when you finally managed to finish your detective series two months later with its final book.
"So, what genre are you looking to write for now? Because I think you got the mystery all covered."
Sitting in Wriothesley's office once more, lunch in hand, you smiled and thought for a moment.
"How about a romance?"
He snorted at the question, "romance, huh? And how do you plan on starting that?"
"If I told you, then it would ruin the whole book."
"I don't mind spoilers."
You grinned, eyes trained on his as you both enjoyed your lunch break together, "well, it starts off with a man saving an author from someone and from themselves."
"That so," he asked while smirking, he already knew where this was going.
"Do they end up together?"
You shrugged, "you tell me."
Wriothesley leaned back in his chair, eyes trained on you, and only you, "I noticed that in your books, your characters get happy endings. So why not write another one?"
"What? Not a fan of angst?"
"Absolutely not."

Hello 🤗 if you're still taking prompts, numbers 30 and 65 please
#30: "be you. no one else can." #65: "i don't want you to stop."
welcome to the company! happy to help if you have any questions or need my assistance with anything :) -ian
mickey stares at the bright yellow sticky note on his keyboard, then looks over his cubicle. the tall ginger is chatting with some of the other employees by the water cooler, all sunshine and smiles like a bright light in the dull, grey office.
he crumples up the note and debates whether to toss it in the bin. he's not here to make friends - especially not the office assistant who looks like a walking motivational poster. the guy probably gets off on cheesy quotes like dream big! or live laugh love! or be you, no one else can! hell no. he's here to collect a paycheck so he can pay rent. that's it.
but, for some unexplainable reason, mickey can't bring himself to throw the note away. so before he can think too much about it, he opens the empty drawer in his desk and sweeps the piece of paper inside. whatever. it doesn't mean anything. nope.
-
the collection of neon sticky notes in his drawer grow as the weeks go by.
hope your first week of work went well!
going on a coffee run, let me know if you need anything :)
noticed you were asking around for a pen, so i just grabbed you a whole pack from the supply closet :)
we're all going to the taco truck on the block for lunch today, come with if you want!
just a heads up, avoid martha unless you want to listen to her talk about her cats for an hour lol
restocked the pantry with a bunch of snacks, if you're hungry :)
hey do you think robert will be offended if i tell him his toupee is crooked??
mickey hadn't replied to any of the messages at this point. he knows he's not special - ian probably leaves hundreds of notes for everyone, the attentive dork that he is. but the last note catches him off guard and he can't help but let out a loud snort.
without overthinking it, he scribbles a reply on a notepad and sticks it on ian's desk.
you should tell him the thing on his head looks like a dead raccoon. -m
later in the afternoon, mickey holds back a grin when he bumps into robert in the washroom, muttering under his breath while vigorously adjusting his hair.
-
it takes him a few more weeks to realize that not a lot of people in the office communicate via sticky notes. in fact, he's the only one who gets daily notes on his desk, so much so his drawer is nearly filled to the brim. he's really not sure what to make of it, actually. he's barely spoken ten words to ian in person, yet he has an entire physical collection of the guy's random thoughts and musings.
curiosity and intrigue (or perhaps his inexplicable attraction to redheaded alien-looking guys) get the better of him - so finally, he breaks all his rules and marches up to ian's desk.
"what's with all the notes, red?"
ian looks up, surprised, all wide-eyed and flushed cheeks. mickey thinks this is the first time they've been this close in each other's personal space, so close that he can see the light freckles smattered across ian's face. he resists the urge to trace the dots with his fingers - because that would be weird and not something coworkers do, right?
"sorry for bombarding you... you just seem so cool, but i noticed you don't really talk much and i guess i was too intimidated to approach you in person," ian says, looking sheepish. "i can stop if you think it's annoying..."
"no," mickey cuts in quickly. "um. i don't want... you don't have to stop. the notes are... nice." they're the highlight of my day, he thinks, but he doesn't say that out loud. not yet.
ian's entire face lights up and mickey has never seen anyone look more like the personification of an eager puppy. honestly, mickey doesn't think anyone has ever shown so much interest in him, ever, and it's kind of... endearing?
so, he takes a deep breath and decides to take the plunge.
"but you can talk to me too. in person. face to face. y'know, if you want. i'm fine with that."
ian nods enthusiastically. "maybe we can get to know each other over lunch today?" he asks in a hopeful tone. "the diner around the corner makes a really mean burger."
mickey smiles. "only if you're buying."

Zetsu’s Daily Texts from the Akatsuki
From Nagato
You can’t keep eating them without checking to see if we’re using them first.
300 miles? Is that really the closest?!
I can put you with Tobi or Hidan. Take your pick.
Put the letters where they can find them, then stay somewhere hidden to see their reactions.
Keep an eye on them please. No explosions, no sacrifices. Nothing to draw attention.
I’ve been practicing every day. Legs feel stronger.
I’d only risk it if you also want to risk being placed in a gengetsu.
I’m sure I’ll be gone before her. All I ask is she be well taken care of. It’s all that matters.
No. Under no circumstances. I need them all ALIVE and able to work, please.
You can ask but she’ll probably hit you hard enough to REALLY split you in half.
From Kakuzu
Yes well your appetite is proving quite costly.
Find where he’s hiding and I’ll give you a third of his bounty.
I’m not so sure that “intelligence” is a quality I’d associate with any of them.
Actually if you could naturally produce that we could sell bottles and make some money 🤔
Much, much too expensive.
I don’t care if you eat him but wait until I get his heart out first.
I’d rather you ate me; my body won’t be on display for him to entertain Deidara with.
It’s complicated. And by complicated I mean I let a one time physical urge turn into a years-long relationship.
It’s the 1st. Rent and utilities are due.
If I didn’t we wouldn’t have *anything*. Be grateful.
I’m not sure if my threads would hold for plant-skin.
Stop losing them for God’s sake each one costs $50 in materials to make!!
I’ll take your word for it. That voice creeps me out.
From Konan
Please don’t ever do that again. Nagato almost had a heart attack. 😡
It’s funny in a shouldn’t be funny way.
Wait you’ve seen him without the mask 👀
No I don’t care if they’re annoying we don’t have the time to replace them now!!
Ask Sasori to take a look. He enjoys a challenge.
I don’t care how easy it was to get, I’m NOT cooking with that kind of “meat” 🤢
No offense but do you even have nails 🤔
I’d rather we didn’t need to pick up and move again unless absolutely necessary.
Since we were children 🥰
I’d kill anyone who tried. With my bare hands.
Kisame may be able to but the rest will need it cooked.
You’re THAT old?! 😵‍💫
Stick to guys. I will remain the only woman in this group.
Can’t you eat them? Aren’t you part Venus fly trap??
From Hidan
Freak.
Then stop watching, weirdo!
Because if you take the body before my praying is finished then the entire ritual is void!!
Not to be gay but yeah I see what he sees.
Then steal him some damn glasses next time!
But do plants even have dicks? Like is it green? Does it smell like grass? 🤔
He’s such a liar he wanted me since the day we met 😂
I saw you eyeing that cat and so did Itachi.
How do you say “Fuck you” in plant-speak?
They’re not “pink” they’re “rose”, heathen.
Ribs without sauce is like fucking without lube. Like what’s even the point?
If I could convert even one of those fucks I’d become a High Priest for Jashin.
Can’t. Kakuzu’s “withholding my paycheck” until I pay off that bounty of his that I killed. 🙄
So come with us. Everyone’s weird you’ll fit right in.
From Sasori
Elderberry, nightshade, and primrose. For now.
A mouse learns to fear other mice before it even thinks about predators.
Please stop that you gave him nightmares last time and I couldn’t work on my puppets for a whole week 😒
I don’t care as long as it has a big enough space for a lab.
Damn blue eyes trapped me for eternity.
An interesting experiment, certainly.
I have vague memories but that’s all.
You appear to be “friends” so talk to him and tell him to back off.
Who do you think I am? That freak Orochimaru?!
I don’t buy that stupid act for a second.
If I suggested aloe vera would you find that insulting?
You and I are the least bothersome in terms of eating. I don’t, and you hunt.
I’ll contribute when the expense is relative to me.
From Kisame
So far only Itachi knows about it but the water there is clear and beautiful.
Your way of thinking is truly fascinating.
Of course you’re welcome to join us but you’ve voiced objections before to both tea and sweets.
No, I’ll BURY him myself before I let you eat him.
Crab and shrimp. Especially crab.
I’m aware. His smell is getting weaker and his chakra is shaky.
I admire your patience for it but I don’t do so well in the sun for so long.
Again? Why?? Who attracted attention this time? 😒
I don’t but Samehada seems to.
The battlefield is empty. Care to join me at the buffet? 😋
Between the prayer rituals and the constant bombing I just can’t handle either of them.
Salt is for the weak. Pure fear flavors the meat better than any seasoning.
From Deidara
You can’t prove that was me, that could have been anyone!
If I’m successful there won’t BE anything left of me to eat so 🤷🏼
Idk you just look gray. Maybe stand in the sun for a while?
Ok we may eat more BUT his food costs more!
Wait is it real hair or like plant stuff 🤔
I didn’t this time he was dancing and he tripped on his cloak like an idiot.
Honestly not until I met Sasori lol
Omg where?! Riverbanks are always a goldmine of natural clay! 🤩
I get that but I’m just not interested, eternity is so boring.
Low key he goes into this voice sometimes that scares the piss out of me.
Bc it’s weird man it’d be like watching my mother shower or something 😖
Like usual he couldn’t shut up and almost got us killed on the spot 😡
Not unless you want to pick the lice out of my hair afterwards.
From Itachi
Not sure of the exact dynamics but I think it’s second or third cousins.
Maybe it’s best we all just live with our own partners. Too many in one area and eventually someone figures it out.
No he’s as gentle as possible. I just have sensitive skin.
Yes but cabbage is so versatile.
You saw him? Did he look well? 👀
The glasses help some but most everything is still a massive blur.
I tried. Nagato tried. He refuses to give up on the idea.
There is no “before” and there’s no “after0. There’s just NOW.
No I know he ate it because he had the jam smeared all over his collar.
22 doesn’t really interest me.
From Obito
The right arm still twitches if I try to lift too much.
Come on weren’t YOU happy when he died?!
He can’t turn me down forever. Just picture him with the Uchiha fan on his back 😍
Yeah well he’s still my little cousin and I still worry.
I think it scares him a little, he almost walked into a tree that first time I did it on accident.
It’s not excessive; the sugar is literally the only thing pushing me forward right now.
I would bet money that he’s the worst Sensei ever to those kids. No wonder Sasuke was so weak.
The constant money woes are so tedious.
Blind or not his reflexes are unmatched and he could still take me out in one move.
We should have put more emphasis on intelligent and less on “skills”.
You’ve gotta admit the explosions DO liven things up 🤷🏻
What if you ate him and he could still talk from inside of your stomach though? Is that a chance you want to take?
Bonus: From Madara
He stopped responding two years ago he acts like I’m dead.
What? That little shit. 😡
If the blonde is giving him too much of a distraction, dispose of him.
You don’t need to pre-chew my food I’m not a baby bird.
Have you seen my good blanket?
What happened to my slippers?
🍆 I want this. I’m craving this so bad. Please bring it to me.
Tell that boy to come back I need a good bath and a haircut.
Perhaps if you hadn’t recruited so many *brats* you wouldn’t be having such an issue.
Whatever you do, do NOT let them breed.
Did you remember where I stashed my last painting of Hashirama?
If I was younger I could have eliminated the entire group within seconds. They’d never even know what hit them.
Please procure a backscratcher and industrial grade toenail clippers.
Wait until he sleeps and move several large rocks into his room. I guarantee he’ll cry.
First that young lass, then the Hatake boy, now the blonde. He never learns his lesson does he?
What do you mean he cut it?? An Uchiha’s hair is his crown! Tell him to get back here NOW.
I should have chosen Fugaku’s son instead. Likely a lot less crying.

The Chief’s Daughter
Summary: It had been six years since your father left you behind in New York. However, now that your mother was gone, you had no choice but to drive to Hawkins to find him. That's where you meet Billy Hargrove, who turns your life upside down... literally.
Pairing: Billy Hargrove x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3.3k
Warnings: language, blood
Chapter 18-
Tumblr media
"Once I graduate and save up enough money, I'm out of here." Billy had said back during your first day of school together.
"Where do you want to go?" You had asked.
"Back to Cali."
"Got room for one more?"
California was more beautiful than you had ever imagined.
The Byers had packed up and moved across the country a few months after Starcourt, taking El with them. Joyce was now her legal guardian, but she was still your little sister. She was your responsibility now that Hopper was gone.
Billy didn't even hesitate to follow you to California.
The two of you now rented a beachside apartment only a couple blocks from the Byers house. El and Will always came over, Jonathan and his friend Argyle usually with them too.
Billy had gotten a job at the local garage, training as a mechanic which he seemed to be enjoying. He sent half his paycheck to the Mayfield's every fortnight, wanting Susan to be able to afford new things for Max as well as pay off the bills that his father had dumped on her.
You had gotten a job at the library down the street, mainly because it was quiet and didn’t require much talking.
You had been trying to put on a brave face ever since Starcourt. Trying to cover your pain with bright smiles and laughter around Billy and the others, but at work you were able to stop pretending. You didn't have to smile, you didn't have to pretend to be happy, not when you were just stacking books on shelves or helping the occasional stranger find a certain novel.
Work was your escape, and you knew that was fucked up, but it was. You were tired of having to pretend that you were okay, but at the same time, you didn't want Billy, El or the Byers to know how you really felt.
Billy knew you were hurting, despite how hard you tried to hide it. He was worried about you, but you kept brushing off his concerns. There was nothing he could do to help you, not unless he could bring Hopper back from the dead.
"You okay? You've barely said anything the entire drive." Billy commented, glancing over at you from the driver seat of the Camaro.
You watched as Billy sped past the old 'Welcome to Hawkins' sign as you entered the town. But someone had crossed out Hawkins and wrote HELL instead and you thought that seemed rather fitting.
"Just tired." You lied, leaning your head back against the headrest.
Billy eyed you out the corner of his eye, knowing that was bullshit, but decided not to call you out on it and instead focused back on the road as he drove in the direction of the Trailer Park.
The two of you had managed to get a week off work to come back to Hawkins and visit Max. It was a surprise for her birthday, the new skateboard on the backseat a present you guys had saved up for and wanted to give to her in person.
It didn't take long before Billy turned off into the Trailer Park, actually slowing down to the speed limit as he squinted at the numbers on each trailer trying to find the correct one.
You leant forward and cranked up the stereo, blasting Scorpions Rock You Like A Hurricane causing Billy to start laughing catching on to what you were doing before he rolled the windows down.
A few old people sitting by their Winnebago's glared at you as you drove past, the music way to loud, but Billy just grinned and pulled up in front of the trailer and revved the engine loudly.
A few seconds later, the front door of the trailer slammed open. Max stepped out, her red hair wild and eyes wider than you had ever seen them as she stared at the Camaro in utter shock.
"Holy shit!" She shouted.
"Language, shitbird." Billy warned, but there was no anger behind it.
He pulled the key out the ignition, stopping the music before he climbed out the car. He barely had enough time to close the door before he was being wrapped into a tight hug and he chuckled and hugged her back.
You smiled softly watching the reunion as you climbed out the car and grabbed Max's birthday present from the backseat. It was wrapped with Christmas wrapping paper because you couldn't find any birthday themed paper, although it didn't need to be wrapped at all because it was shaped as a skateboard.
"Happy late birthday, Mad Max" Billy said, pulling away and pointing at you.
Max glanced over her shoulder and her eyes widened at the skateboard shaped present in your hands.
"No way!"
"Yes, way." You grinned, handing it to her.
She glanced between you and Billy like she couldn't quite believe it was true before she frantically teared the wrapping paper off. She flipped the new board over and her eyes widening into saucers at 'MAD MAX' painted on the bottom in large block letters.
"This is the best present ever!" She exclaimed, her smile brighter than you had ever seen it as she glanced over at you, but her smile faded. "Are you okay? Your nose is bleeding."
"Huh?" You frowned in confusion and reached for your nose, feeling something wet trickling down before you lowered your hand and found your fingertips-stained red.
"Shit, uh, there's a rag in the back of the Camaro." Billy said, already opening the trunk of the car and grabbing one of his cleaner rags and handing it to you. "You okay? I've never seen you get a nosebleed before."
You nodded, holding the rag to your nose to stop the blood.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. It's just a nosebleed."
Billy didn't seem convinced, but nodded before looking back at Max who had already drawn her focus back on the new skateboard.
"Can you take me to the skatepark? I have to test it out."
"I've been back for two fucking minutes and I'm already your personal chauffeur?"
"Yep." Max responded, popping the 'p' before slipping into the passenger seat of the Camaro causing you to laugh.
Billy sighed, but you could see the corners of his lips twitching up in a small smile before he glanced over at you with a questioning look.
"You guys go. I might try and find proper tissues in the trailer if that's cool, Max?" You said, glancing back at the girl already in the car.
"Mum keeps them on the kitchen bench."
You nodded, turning back to Billy who seemed hesitant to leave you here by yourself as if a bloody nose was something bad. You just rolled your eyes and pushed him towards the car with your free hand.
"I'll be fine. Go spend time with your sister."
Billy huffed out a sigh, but nodded, sparing one last glance at you before he climbed back into the driver's seat. The Camaro roared to life with the turn of his key, the music continued to blast, and you waved goodbye as they drove off.
You watched the blue car disappear out the Trailer Park before you turned to walk towards the front door of the Mayfield's place before a familiar voice called out your name.
"Y/N, that you?"
Glancing over your shoulder, you spotted Eddie Munson stepping out the trailer across the road.
Well shit, you were not expecting to see him here.
He wore the same ripped jeans and battle vest he used to wear back in High School. His hair seemed a little longer though, but you were more focused on the fact that he was walking over to you to notice anything else.
"Munson." You greeted with a small nod, lowering the rag from your nose and relieved to find that it was no longer bleeding.
Eddie paused, glancing at the bloodied rag before looking you up and down almost worriedly, "are you okay?"
"Yeah."
Eddie nodded, glancing around awkwardly like he wanted to say something, but he wasn't sure how. So, he remained silent for a few seconds before blurting out a bunch of words without taking a breath.
"Look, I know you and I weren't exactly close in school. I'd like to think we were at least friends, right? Doesn't matter, I just... I never got a chance to talk to you before you left town. I heard about the Starcourt fire. Well, the whole town heard, and I know you guys were there and I'm so sorry about your father. He might have given me a few speeding tickets over the years, but he was a good man."
'Hero Chief dies in fire'
That was the headline of the paper the morning after.
Everyone thought he had died saving you kids from the fire in Starcourt. Nobody knew the real truth. He didn't just save you guys, he closed the gate to the Upside Down and saved the entire world.
Nobody knew that the coffin they buried six months ago was empty. Nothing but his Police hat was inside because there wasn't a body to put in it. Nobody knew the truth and you hated that more than anything.
"The drug dealer saying a cop was a good man? Never thought I'd hear that." You responded sarcastically because if you didn't try and joke right now, you would start to cry, and you couldn't do that. You've cried enough over the last few months. You were sick of crying.
Eddie stared at you for a second and you feared he might try and be serious and say sorry again, but then his face broke out into a familiar grin.
"Never thought I'd say it." He admitted with a laugh. "How long are you and Billy in town for?"
"A week. Came back for Max's birthday."
Eddie nodded before glancing over at his car, "I got Hellfire now, but you guys should drop by tonight. I got good music and beer."
"We'll be there."
-
A few hours later, you and Billy were sitting outside the Munson trailer. Music blasting from Eddie's stereo while you drank cheap beer.
"If I knew your shit was this good, I would've bought from you back in school." Billy said, taking a final drag of the joint in his hand before flicking the butt away.
"He did offer to sell to you, but you sorta shot him down." You reminded causing Eddie to grin.
"Your girl's right, California."
"Yeah, yeah, just shut up and give me another one."
Eddie shook his head, "no, no, no. The first is on the house. The second will cost you. How else do you expect me to pay the bills for this shithole?" He said, motioning to the trailer behind him.
Billy raised his eyebrows, but Eddie didn't back down causing him to huff out a sigh before digging into his jacket pocket and pulling out a couple bills.
"Pleasure doing business with you." Eddie grinned, taking the cash and passing over the joint.
"Fucking rip off is what it is." Billy muttered, pocketing the joint for later.
It was odd seeing the two of them interacting like this. They had barely said more than a word to each other at school. They ran in different social circles, but if given a chance to get to know each other, you knew they'd become friends.
You smiled while listening to them as they started talking about Metallica's latest song, Master of Puppets. Eddie saying that he was trying to learn it on guitar while Billy said that he still liked The Four Horsemen better which then turned into a massive argument.
"Baby, help me out here." Billy begged, looking over at you, but you quickly shook your head.
"Oh, no. I am not getting in the middle of this."
"That's because you agree with me, right?" Eddie asked.
You chuckled softly, "you're both idiots."
"That's not a no." Eddie pointed out.
"Well, it's not a fucking yes either." Billy responded, glaring at Eddie before turning his attention back to you. "If you could only listen to one of those songs for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?"
"Neither. If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life it would be Running up that Hill by Kate Bush. Sorry boys."
Eddie gasped and grabbed his chest dramatically, "you, Y/N Hopper, wound me. Kate Bush over Metallica? Really?"
"I still like Metallica."
"Nope. Too late, the damage has already been done." He said, causing you to snort before he turned to Billy. "You are my friend. Y/N is not."
"Lucky me." Billy muttered sarcastically.
You rolled your eyes and downed the last of your beer that had long ago turned warm, but you weren't about to waste free alcohol. Billy had finished his beer too and you met his eyes before glancing over at the Mayfield trailer.
"I think I'm going to head to bed. Thanks for the beer and music judgement, Munson." You said, glancing over at Eddie who just grinned.
"Anytime."
Billy stood up too, saying goodbye to Eddie before the two of you walked across the road to Susan and Max's trailer. The girls were already in bed asleep, so you guys quietly went straight to the spare bedroom that Susan had cleaned out for you earlier.
It felt like you only just managed to fall asleep before you woke up in a cold sweat from a nightmare.
Nightmares were a common occurrence since Starcourt. Sometimes you'd dream of Demogorgons, sometimes the Mind Flayer, but usually it was of your father. Those nightmares were the worst. Demo-dogs and Upside Down shit, you could handle. But nightmares about Hopper’s death were bad.
Your body shook from the lingering nightmare as you carefully climbed out of bed. Billy was still fast asleep under the blankets and thankfully didn't wake up as you walked across the room to the window and pulled the curtain open.
You wiped the sweat from your forehead with trembling hands and took in a few deep breaths trying to calm yourself down as you stared out at the dark starry night sky.
You and Hopper had a rough relationship, everyone knew that, but sometime between the arrest of Neil Hargrove and Starcourt, you had stopped hating him. You didn't hate him anymore, but you never got the chance to tell him.
Hopper had died thinking you hated him.
That thought hit hard and you had to grab hold of the windowsill to keep yourself standing as a soft sob escaped your lips.
You covered your mouth with your hand trying to muffle your crying, not wanting to wake Billy. Silent tears trickle down your face and you squeezed your eyes shut, wishing more than anything that Hopper was here.
But, he wasn't. Hopper was dead, and he died thinking his eldest daughter hated him.
You were so lost in thought that you didn't hear Billy shift on the bed. Hell, you didn't even hear him call your name until his hand touched your shoulder.
The sudden contact caused you to flinch, and you blinked away tears to find Billy hovering beside you worriedly.
Shit.
He must have heard you crying.
"I'm fine." You insisted before he could say anything.
Your voice was soft, almost fragile, as if it and your heart would break any minute. Perhaps your heart was already broken. Left shattered and unfixable back on the asphalt of the Starcourt carpark.
"No, you're not." He said quietly taking in your tear-stained cheeks. "Baby, what's wrong? Why are you awake?"
Those simple words were enough to bring the tears flooding back down your face despite how hard you tried to stop them. You looked back out the window, not wanting him to see you cry.
It was stupid. Billy had seen you cry too many times to count over the past six months. He had woken you up from so many nightmares and you had comforted him after his own nightmares about the Mind Flayer, but you still hated him seeing you like this.
"I'm right here, baby. It's okay. What's wrong?"
"Hopper died thinking I hate him." You sniffed quietly.
"Y/N-"
"Hell, I thought I still hated him too. Guess it took his death for me to realise..." You trailed off, hot tears streaming down your face.
Billy didn't say anything, instead he grabbed your shoulder and pulled you into his chest, holding you tightly. The bedroom door opened with a loud squeak, but you barely heard it.
"Oh. I- uh, heard crying." Max's sleepy voice whispered from the doorway. "Is she okay?"
You felt Billy nod, "yeah, I got her. Go back to bed, Max."
A second later, the door clicked closed and you squeezed your eyelids shut in hope they would stop the tears. Your choppy breathing and watery eyes remained for sometime, but Billy never let go.
-
By the end of your mini vacation in Hawkins, it was safe to say that Eddie and Billy were best friends. The two of them got along like a house on fire which you loved, but also kinda hated because they liked to gang up on you.
It was nice though, hanging out with Eddie. Him and Billy would take turns picking the music while you guys drank and talked about the most random shit.
His uncle worked nights at the Plant, so the three of you would hang in his trailer not wanting to annoy Max or Susan. Although, you were pretty sure they could hear the music blasting from across the road anyway. Which was why you and Billy were currently sitting on the lawn chairs out the front of Eddie's trailer waiting for him to get back from his Hellfire Club.
It was dark by the time his familiar van came speeding through the Trailer Park, music blasting from inside before he pulled up in front of the trailer and climbed out the car.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"You're out of beer." Billy said, holding up the empty beer can.
Eddie frowned before looking at the closed door of his trailer. You could practically see the gears turning in his brain as he tried to figure out how Billy took his last beer out the fridge.
"You should seriously lock your front door, Munson. Wouldn't want strangers to break into your trailer and steal alcohol or something stupid." You warned in amusement.
Eddie snorted softly, "yeah, definitely wouldn't want that."
"Uh, I-I can come by later?" A female voice suddenly said.
You looked past Eddie just as a girl in a cheerleader uniform stepped out the van. Wait, was that Chrissy Cunningham?
"No, no, it's fine. These guys apparently don't understand personal boundaries." Eddie said, glaring at the two of you as he spoke. "You remember Y/N and Billy from school, right?"
She nodded, still looking a little nervous. She was obviously here to buy from him and although you didn't really know Chrissy, you could tell it was her first time doing something like this and she was clearly anxious about it.
"You don't need to worry about us, we're not going to tell anyone. Tomorrow, we drive back to California anyway." You said, trying to reassure the other girl.
Eddie gave you an appreciative nod before he opened the front door and sighed realising that he had in fact forgotten to lock it when he left earlier.
"Y/N warned you." Billy commented with a grin.
Eddie just flipped him off before holding the door open for Chrissy who stepped inside and he followed, closing the door behind her.
You stared across at the Camaro parked beside the Mayfield trailer. It was going to be a long drive back to California tomorrow and although you still hated Hawkins, you were kind of sad to leave Max and Eddie behind.
"What time do you want to hit the road in the morning?" You asked, glancing over at Billy.
He didn't answer though. His entire body had turned tense in the chair beside you, his fingers digging into his thighs through his jeans like he was trying to wake himself up from a dream... or a nightmare.
"Billy? What's wrong?"
He still didn't answer, but the moonlight shining down from the dark sky was enough to illuminate his features, highlighting the sudden panic that was creeping over him.
"Billy?" You tried again, slipping off your chair and kneeling in front of him. "Hey, talk to me."
"I-I can feel him." He said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"What?"
He lifted his shaky hand and grabbed the back of his neck. His eyes frantically searching the dark Trailer Park for threats before settling back on you with a look of fear washing over him. It was a different kind of horror seeing someone like Billy Hargrove look so frightened and you had no idea what to do.
The lights in the trailer suddenly started to flicker through the small window and your stomach dropped in realisation.

A dozen poor countries are facing economic instability and even collapse under the weight of hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign loans, much of them from the world’s biggest and most unforgiving government lender, China.
An Associated Press analysis of a dozen countries most indebted to China — including Pakistan, Kenya, Zambia, Laos and Mongolia — found paying back that debt is consuming an ever-greater amount of the tax revenue needed to keep schools open, provide electricity and pay for food and fuel. And it’s draining foreign currency reserves these countries use to pay interest on those loans, leaving some with just months before that money is gone.
Behind the scenes is China’s reluctance to forgive debt and its extreme secrecy about how much money it has loaned and on what terms, which has kept other major lenders from stepping in to help. On top of that is the recent discovery that borrowers have been required to put cash in hidden escrow accounts that push China to the front of the line of creditors to be paid.
Countries in AP’s analysis had as much as 50% of their foreign loans from China and most were devoting more than a third of government revenue to paying off foreign debt. Two of them, Zambia and Sri Lanka, have already gone into default, unable to make even interest payments on loans financing the construction of ports, mines and power plants.
In Pakistan, millions of textile workers have been laid off because the country has too much foreign debt and can’t afford to keep the electricity on and machines running.
In Kenya, the government has held back paychecks to thousands of civil service workers to save cash to pay foreign loans. The president’s chief economic adviser tweeted last month, “Salaries or default? Take your pick.”
Since Sri Lanka defaulted a year ago, a half-million industrial jobs have vanished, inflation has pierced 50% and more than half the population in many parts of the country has fallen into poverty.
Experts predict that unless China begins to soften its stance on its loans to poor countries, there could be a wave of more defaults and political upheavals.
“In a lot of the world, the clock has hit midnight,” said Harvard economist Ken Rogoff. “ China has moved in and left this geopolitical instability that could have long-lasting effects.”
HOW IT'S PLAYING OUT
A case study of how it has played out is in Zambia, a landlocked country of 20 million people in southern Africa that over the past two decades has borrowed billions of dollars from Chinese state-owned banks to build dams, railways and roads.
The loans boosted Zambia’s economy but also raised foreign interest payments so high there was little left for the government, forcing it to cut spending on healthcare, social services and subsidies to farmers for seed and fertilizer.
In the past under such circumstances, big government lenders such as the U.S., Japan and France would work out deals to forgive some debt, with each lender disclosing clearly what they were owed and on what terms so no one would feel cheated.
But China didn't play by those rules. It refused at first to even join in multinational talks, negotiating separately with Zambia and insisting on confidentiality that barred the country from telling non-Chinese lenders the terms of the loans and whether China had devised a way of muscling to the front of the repayment line.
Amid this confusion in 2020, a group of non-Chinese lenders refused desperate pleas from Zambia to suspend interest payments, even for a few months. That refusal added to the drain on Zambia’s foreign cash reserves, the stash of mostly U.S. dollars that it used to pay interest on loans and to buy major commodities like oil. By November 2020, with little reserves left, Zambia stopped paying the interest and defaulted, locking it out of future borrowing and setting off a vicious cycle of spending cuts and deepening poverty.

About a month ago, I read 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' based on a recommendation from a friend. It had some good points and bad ones.
Good points:
It is super important for me to have discussions with my kids about how to handle money, what their options are with the money I've given them, and what that means for standard of living, activities, etc.
It is very important in people's lives to have someone advising them about money, instead of just leaving them to fend for themselves and figure it out on their own.
If you already have money (like tens or hundreds of thousands of unencumbered cash), then there are a lot of relatively low risk, low labor means to put that money to work for you and generate income. It's a lot less tedious than, say, working for a living. But you have to have the money FIRST.
The various principles laid out in the book caused me to move my money around. Now instead of retiring in 4 years and leaving nothing to my kids in inheritance unless I died early, because I'd need everything to fund my retirement, I'm going to retire end of next year and leave millions, assuming I live that long. And if I don't, then there will still be a nest egg. Same standard of living for me either way.
Bad points:
Gotdamn does this guy undersell how hard it is to get your hands on enough money to start with to do this. It takes generations and he doesn't acknowledge that.
He also undersells the value and rarity of someone giving you good advice at every turn, feeding you opportunities, and picking you up when you fall ... and never victimizing or abusing you in the process.
He makes almost no mention of the severe adversities many people find in their lives, like chronic health problems, useless or abusive partners, addiction, expensive hobbies, terrible families, bad luck, accidents, legal problems, and the like. Some of these you have a little control over; a lot of them you don't; and even with barely controllable things like partners and family you don't know its bad until its already bad and its not exactly too late at that point, but it really sucks.
So anyway, I tried to get my kids to listen to the audiobook. No dice. I found it on YouTube for free. No doing. I bought the guy's Cashflow board game. Huzzah! They played it a couple times. This let us talk about things. (I mean, I'd already tried talking to them, but trying to discuss the relative merits of savings account vs t-bills vs etfs was not making much progress.)
We talked about:
What's a mortgage and why can't I just be homeless and not pay that
Why are my expenses so high
Why are children expensive
Why do I have to pay for a loan (I was surprised and shocked they only barely understood interest rates. My inability to communicate effectively about investments made sense now. I have failed as a parent. But I'm trying to fix it.) also: why is a credit score important
What the fuck why does this boat cost so damn much?!? (the boat is the most expensive piece of shit doodad you can get saddled with in the game; I talked to them about the dangers of expensive hobbies)
OH MY FUCKING GOD I ONLY MISSED ONE PAYCHECK AND I AM RUINED (because ... yeah. that's real)
What does 'yield' mean
What's a trading range
And a bunch of other things. I also talked to them about the things the game does not include, those things I mentioned earlier like accidents, addictions, lawsuits, and health problems, or the same happening to anyone you financially support or feel beholden to, like a partner or child or possibly parent. I talked to them about the mentality of 'my savings always gets wasted on emergencies so why bother having any', which is valid and real, as well as a rational reaction to a maddingly irrational situation.
An interesting thing about the game - there's no rule for or against giving money to each other. And it makes a huge difference in propelling someone from the rat race stage of the game where you're working for a living and into the cashflow part of the game where your money is working for you instead. In the two games we played, I ended up ahead early each time (half of this I credit to good decisions while my kids were making dumb ones, even after I told them they were dumb choices; half was probably luck). But each time once I had my position secured, I started giving wads of cash to them and it was remarkable how much that improved their situation.
Kind of like real life.
I also read Bullshit Jobs a couple weeks ago and it ends with a lovely piece about the social value of universal basic income. Which, yeah. We need to do that.

How to win a heart of Floyd Leech?
a/n: Someone requested this; ask got deleted by accident! Hope you will like it, Anon!
Warning!
Once you start walking through the specific points of the guide, your life will be exposed to the presence of Floyd Leech. Interrupting the action at one of the stages may cause many problems; F. Leech categorizes stopping as "boring", which puts the user of this guide in great danger.
The only way out is to get to the very end. Or not to start at all.
You act at your own risk.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
Tumblr media
‏‏‎
1.   Be an easy new target.
To one’s surprise, it is much harder not to catch his attention.
You can easily become another entertaining target of Floyd, mostly by doing silly things or him just considering them as ones.
And to automatically get labelled as “silly”, you just need to fall into one of his traps—he prepares them for someone else, maybe for goldfish, maybe for another person given a sea-inspired nickname, expecting to enjoy watching how familiar face twitches with terror as he jumps into the scene and tightly embraces passing student.
But no. You were the one who showed up in the wrong place and time as Floyd jumped out from his hideout, scaring you half to death. With a strangled yelp, you sharply backed away. After gaining a slight flush on your cheeks, you recognised who you just bumped into and quietly gasped.
However, he was much more bewildered than you were.
He had never encountered somebody who wouldn’t just freeze under his touch. Jumping away, gasping, muttering half-hearted apologies and flushing? That’s new.
That’s also entertaining.
Even after your quickly disappearance from the scene, his gaze somehow inexplicably started returning to you.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
2.   Visit Mostro Lounge often.
“We’re looking for someone who would like to work part-time for Azul~” Floyd said, sliding poster across the table. He popped up in front of you unannounced, having your thoughts return to dark reality.
“Oh,” you replied quietly, packing your things faster. “Good luck with it.”
You got up from your seat, but the thought of letting you go just like that didn’t even cross Floyd’s mind.
“Ehh? Shrimpy, aren’t you going to try?” he asked, frowning. You winced a little at the nickname he called you, not sure how to feel about it. “You know, you won’t work there for free.”
Azul will grant your wish.
You fidgeted a little, questioning your response. You heard—who didn’t?—rumours that Octavinelle leader could fulfil any request for a certain price. Ones were working for it, others were paying, and lasts were trading their request with Azul’s one.
The thought of having anything just by working in some café made you consider the offer again—this time quickier.
“I will go,” you decided.
“Hooray!” Floyd smiled cheerfully, just as if he won some grand prize in the lottery. “But what could Shrimpy possibly wish for, to change your response so drastically~?” he wondered but didn’t get any answer in return.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
3.   Be honest.
“Shrimpy...”
You passed Floyd, without sparing him a look. Anyone who has known you for a while would notice that your movements were a bit stiff and creaky.
Once you heard Floyd’s voice, a wave of tiredness struck you as if you didn’t get any sleep last night after working your shift in Mostro Lounge.
There were so many people to serve, so many things to do... and yet, you couldn’t help with anything, still not knowing how everything works, messing up with orders and breaking some plates in process.
Floyd buzzing around you, asking you some random questions (“Shrimpy, have you done it before?”). You answered them quickly, but each of them bumped you out of rhythm, making you forget what you were doing. It also didn’t help that Floyd certainly liked you being disoriented, replying with a shrug and grin on his face at your thundering glances.
So now, after gaining a little trauma from working in Octavinelle’s café, all you could do is ignore Floyd’s presence, silently accusing him of your infamous fiasco.
“Hey, Shrimpy!” he called you again, catching you up. “Are you mad?”
“I am not mad,” you snapped and took an unstable breath. “Look, I just started working, and on my first day I made already so many mistakes—”
“Yeah,” he replied indifferently. “And what with that?”
“...I couldn’t even correctly serve drinks—”
“Oh, stop!” Floyd muffled your mouth with his hand, an annoying look on his face. “I know where it is going. And no, you can’t quit a job, after all my efforts to get you there. It will get boring again!”
“But—”
“Stop, stop, stop,” he corrected his hand on your mouth, now not letting even a sound get through his fingers. “Azul knows that you tried your best. And for these plates you broke, he already added them to your paycheck. You need to practice! Not to give up, Shrimpy!”
You looked up at him, quite stunned by these words. Perhaps he quoted someone from the book or heard someone talking like that...
But it was encouraging. In some way, considering that you couldn’t protest, having your mouth covered. But still, it was encouraging.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
4.   Take classes together.
You can have the power of controlling Floyd’s behaviour, making other students’ life easier. Or you two can be a walking disaster.
Turning alchemy lesson into putting random ingredients into a boiler and praying that the mysterious mixture won’t explode.
History classes started being a regular pinching ritual to keep yourself from falling asleep (you are being pinched more, even when you don’t feel sleepy).
In contrast, flying lessons are peaceful. Nor Jade, nor Floyd, nor Azul are fond of these classes. Floyd is much eager to stand both feet on the ground, watching you practice or having you sulking next to him about heights.
However, if you are a calm, shy, or tranquil person, exchanging little notes or drawings will be a little habit of yours. Handing them discreetly under the eye of sir Crewel is quite a challenge, but it also gives satisfaction once the note was given.
Floyd throws away most of your paper conversations, but the ones he really likes, he cherishes them by keeping them with him, stuffed in his pockets. He will be irritated if anyone would like to see what you two were writing about, even if the talk was about new strawberries delivery for the new recipe.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
5.   Being ticklish or not.
There are two possible scenarios, whether his new, lovely target is ticklish or not.
If is: prepare for being touched a lot. Observing how you quiver with surprise, when he lightly—he especially makes his touch less fierce, knowing very well that tickling isn’t violent—wraps his hands around your waist, making you hold your breath.
He would tickle you a lot, very often making you cry out of laugh and pain that follows sharp writhing and fidgeting, but never that much, to seriously upset you. That’s some luck in such unlucky situation.
If not: he will try to find other weak point. Or will try to make you ticklish—his hands are particularly cold and pressing them to your warm skin, might make you give him a reaction he would enjoy.
Albeit, if you also won’t return any expression even then, he will seriously search for some other weakness. Slightly biting an ear lobe, whispering next to your ear or anything that could make his smile appear, once he made you put him somewhere between “I despise you with each and every cell” and abstract mumbling with the heat on your checks.
Oh, he loves your reactions so much.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
6.   Learn all nicknames he gave other people (you will unlock an option to slightly dish other people).
“Oh Lord...” you muttered to yourself, as your gaze followed scribbled list of names that Jade just passed to you. He willingly connected all student’s names with pseudonyms Floyd gave other people and handed the roaster over to you once you helped him with some kitchen cleaning.
“There are so many, right?” Jade replied with a polite smile on his face. “I’m sure you already memorised some of them, being around Floyd that much.”
You nodded mindlessly as you tried to get names into your head. You mouthed them soundlessly one by one, motivated to learn them by the end of the week.
The chuckle that escaped Jade’s lips startled you, and you realised that he still was in the room. Or that you didn’t leave the Lounge even after your shift has already ended.
“My brother surely didn’t exaggerate anything about you,” he said, his tone a bit more buoyant than ever, although you couldn’t be sure as the thick air of mystery still echoed in his voice. “I wonder how it will finally end?”
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
7.   Always share your takoyaki with him.
“What are you hiding, Shrimpy?”
You shuddered at a voice that you did not want to hear at this moment, not for all the world. Unless that the world included a chest filled with takoyaki, which you could give to certain somebody.
You felt that instead of a shashlik of tasty balls, you were holding a knife in your hands, a veritable proof of a crime you had committed. It weighed heavily in your grip, and Floyd's approaching footsteps did not make your situation any better.
It was a time to hide the evidence.
You pushed as much as you could into your mouth and swallowed a few balls without even gnawing them much. You almost choked on them.
“Me? I?” you asked innocently. You sincerely hoped that no sauce or a stray piece of cake was left on your face. “What could I possibly hide?”
"Hmm, hmm~," he drew closer, and you needed all your will gathered, to make yourself stay where you were. Even without looking in the mirror, you knew you were all pale on the face. “With my little eye, I spy something...”
His gaze went down, just to your hands, which you tried to hide behind your back.
Not giving him a clear look at your palms or wooden stick, you turned around on the heel and run with all your might. Your muscles felt somehow stiff as if they also didn’t see a chance to win this race.
Now Floyd was sure you are hiding something, and there is no chance he’ll let it go.

8.   Watch him at his basketball practice.
81:30 for the blue team!
“Floyd once again started playing wild,” Ace breathed with clear regret in his voice. He glanced your way, frowning at you. “It’s your fault. Please come at practices when Floyd is in my team, not otherwise.”
You laughed awkwardly as he walked away.
A moment later, Floyd reached for a bottle with water and a towel you bravely guarded through the whole practice. He smiled wholeheartedly, happy with the win, water, and your presence.
“How did you like the game?” he asked once he changed from PE clothes and you two started heading towards Octavinelle.
“It was really fun!” you admitted, a speck of amusement appeared in Floyd’s eyes. “The red team didn’t have much time to capture a ball before you got hold of it again.”
“Hehe~ I’m glad you liked it,” he said. “I really like to play basketball, even more than ever, when I know that you are watching! That’s why,” he added, sincerity well-heard in his voice, “you need to come even more often!”
You nodded happily.
You just couldn’t mind it, all that accompanying him.
It was... fun.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
9.   Dance, dance, dance!
Heels tapped on the floor and the sound of these steps would probably have spread through the room, if not for the jazz music pounding through Mostro Lounge’s speakers.
Floyd pulled you closer, letting a playful smile on his lips stretch even more. You couldn’t help but smile back, before gasping as he spun you around your axis. You lost balance and would fall if not steady grip around your waist, as Floyd leaned on closer to you, making you bend on one leg more and entirely rely on his touch.
Last notes of melody faded, and you still were in that pose, facing each other. With each second, Floyd’s face was changing from some form of amazement to amusement, finally letting you properly stand.
“Ha... When did you learn to dance so smoothly?” you asked smiling in wonder.
“Hehe~ With legs you can dance a lot more than in the sea,” he answered. “On land, it’s super fun~”
You nodded at his words.
Floyd was a wonderful dancer.
But you can’t be sure if being a good dancing partner is the only thing that made you feel all warm and fuzzy because butterflies still didn’t leave your stomach.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎
10.            “Let’s do something fun!”
“Here is your paycheck,” Azul handed you a white envelope, sealed with a stamp with the Octavinelle logo. “And you, [Name], was also working for some request, right?”
You nodded as you stared at the envelope.
Somehow, knowing how stupid the lingering thought in your mind was, you couldn’t bear to look up. If you would, your gaze would probably ignore all the elegant furniture of the room, even the owner of the room, Azul, just to settle on Floyd.
If you saw anything more than his shoes, that stupid thought would make their way outside, turning plans into action.
And Floyd unknowingly did everything to make them come true.
“Shrimpy,” he cupped your face with his hands, judging by his voice he seemed quite... worried? When he made you look in his olive and gold eyes, you started holding your breath. “Are you okay?”
With that question, your strong will to wish for something expensive or practical was broken.
You started fidgeting more, not knowing how to express your thoughts in words. “I think I have a request... a question for Floyd, rather than for you, Azul...”
Azul nodded at first uncertain and the room has fallen into silence once again until you spoke.
“Well, Floyd,” you turned to him, trying your best not to wander your gaze away from him, “Please, take your time with answering, but I want your response to be, uh, honest.”
You were tripping onto your own words, embarrassment soaring in your body as you started to think that you should’ve kept quiet. But Floyd was patient with your answer, as well as Jade and Azul who observed the situation as if they predicted it before.
“I mean- Okay, just answer the question.” You took an erratic breath. “Would you like to—”
“Sure!” Floyd interrupted you before even hearing the whole question. “I would like to do everything with you.”
You stood there, all confused. But, by Floyd’s expression you knew that he guessed what you wanted to say. Face heating up, you forgot about Azul and Jade, who hid a chuckle by turning his head to the side.
“How fun,” he said as Floyd wrapped his arms around you, as if shielding you from other people in the room.
“I won’t share Shrimpy with you, Jade. Not a chance.”

Late nights at the office had become his thing since Gideon left.
He couldn’t bring himself to go home some nights without a game of chess, a cup of coffee, and the ambiance of the post case staff working. He would’ve had no idea about what goes on after they close a case if he didn’t stay behind most nights.
The phone rings almost every 10 minutes, and it’s always answered by the sweetest voice. The fax machine never turns off, and the most beautiful girl in the world is always running around placing papers in different places.
He’s been smitten with her since she started here, 2 years ago. Never seeing much of her since she was switched to the night shift, always wanting to just watch her from afar, never speaking to her unless he needed to.
“Yes, again we are so sorry for the door,” he can hear her voice from the back corner of the room. “Agent Morgan will be paying for that out of his paycheck, don’t worry, Mr. Kennings. We’ll be sure to remember your hotel when we’re in the area again. The FBI has a very generous budget for overnight cases. Of course, you have a good night too.”
She hung the phone up harshly and let out a deep sigh. He turned around to see her face in her arms, resting against the desk. She looked done, completely fed up. He would be too.
She looked up then, noticing that he was making eye contact with her. She awkwardly smiled and waved at him, “sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry,” Spencer replied. “We asked for the key, I should have stopped him from kicking it in.”
She laughed then, walking over to his desk so she didn’t have to yell across the room. She sat on the corner of his desk lightly, “why do you stay every night?”
“Oh, um,” he wasn’t prepared for this. She had never talked to him before. She was barely able to even look at him when she used to place papers on his desk 2 years ago, now she was on his desk.
“I don’t like to bring the work home with me, it’s better to destress here before I go to my apartment,” he answered, half honestly.
She nodded slightly, “I get it. Luckily I go home in the mornings so the sun helps me feel better.”
“Going home in the dark isn’t fun,” she lightly smiled up at her.
“Do you want a coffee or anything?” She asked softly, “seeing as I am still your assistant as long as you’re here?”
He laughed lightly, “I would, but I’d like to join you in the staff room for it?”
“Okay,” she stood, straightening out her shirt as he stood as well.
He held the doors open for her, letting her walk out first, still smiling as she waited in the hall for him. Never being anything less than 1 foot from him for some reason, and he didn’t mind in the slightest.
“Do you like your job?” He asked lightly.
“Oh yeah,” she laughed. “It’s like customer service on crack. Have you ever had to explain to someone why you can’t pay for the cracked foundation after Agent Morgan’s ransacked a place?”
“I honestly never thought of who has to deal with the aftermath,” he awkwardly admitted to her. “I’m so sorry.”
She couldn’t stop laughing as they entered the kitchen, “it’s fine. I never have to apologize on your behalf, it’s everyone else who seems to be reckless. Sometimes I feel like it would be better if I came along to babysit.”
“That would be helpful,” he smiled softly as she entered the staff room.
He watched as she took a new coffee filter out of the cupboard. Emptying the coffee pot with ease, rinsing everything before adding the water and scooping in the grounds. He was mesmerized by how fast she was able to do it, then again it was sort of her job.
“What mug would you like?” She turned to him with a smile that made his heart skip a beat.
“Um, the purple one, if it’s there?”
“You really like purple, huh?” She teased him, standing on her tippy-toes to reach the mug for him.
She placed it on the counter before grabbing a white mug, it had a bumblebee on it, “bee happy” written along the top. It was perfect for her.
“Purple is a stress-reducing colour,” she explained. “When I was a kid my parents painted my room purple so that I’d sleep better.”
“I’ve always been drawn to it.”
She leaned against the counter while the coffee pot started to percolate, “Probably because of your anxiety, coffee doesn’t help that.”
“It’s in my DNA to be like this,” he tried to joke, knowing he succeeded when her smile crept back onto her face.
He was on a mission to keep seeing it.
“For someone who spends a lot of time with dead bodies, creepy places and bad people, you sure are a mousy little thing aren’t you?” She teased him.
“I also love Halloween, go figure.” He’s not sure where the confidence came from, being able to make light-hearted jokes like this was only easy with the team.
Which she technically was a part of. He’s seen her almost every single day for 3 years, slowly being able to get comfortable enough for this very moment.
“What else are you into, outside of here?” She asked honestly, making his heart swell as no one else had ever asked him before.
“Lots of things,” he sighed. “I love to read, I’ll read anything. But mostly I enjoy far-off worlds. Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Sherlock mostly.”
“No supernatural?” She gasped. “Sacrilege, honestly. What kind of nerd are you if you don't support supperwholock?”
“That's the show with the monster hunting brothers right?” He tried to recall it to his mind.
She nodded with a pressed-lipped smile, “it’s bad but in a way where I can’t stop watching every Thursday, they just introduced an angel who is pretty gay. Star Trek is cool too, I guess, I was raised by Trekkies.”
“My mom was into Doctor Who.”
“Mamma’s boy,” she teased him slightly, returning her focus to the coffee as she poured the now finished brew into their mugs. “She was nice when she came in that one time, I made her a very sweet coffee just like yours.”
He reached for the sugar then, poring a generous amount into his mug with a grin, “how much do you like?”
“the same amount,” she couldn’t help but laugh. “I hate the taste of coffee, but it keeps me awake.”
He poured the sugar into her mug as she places a spoon in each. Allowing him to stir his own before picking it up finally. Holding the warm ceramic in his hands, it was almost as warm as the feeling in his chest when he looked at her.
He’s felt it for a long time. He’s been caught staring at her by Derek, JJ even tried to get him to give her his number. Which she already had for when she calls him into work in the middle of the night. They knew he had a crush, he did too. He just didn’t know what to do about it.
“Come to my desk, I want to show you something?” She asked softly, avoiding eye contact as she walked towards the door.
He followed, like a lost puppy, all the way back to her desk. It was always neat, he always looked at it when he made his way up the stairs to the briefing room. He could even see it from where he sat at the table sometimes. Always wanting to see her leave in the mornings.
She had a collection of rocks that always changed, he loved the blue one the most but it wasn’t there currently. She had all new ones since the last time he looked.
“Here,” she hands him one. It’s brown and gold, the colours moving and shifting as he turns it with his fingers. The gold running through it like a beautiful wave.
“what’s this for?”
“It’s a Tiger’s eye, for good luck and happiness,” she smiled. “Keep it at your desk and maybe it’ll be easier for you to relax when you come back?”
The butterflies in his chest were swirling then as she looked up at him with pleading eyes. Wanting him to take it, wanting him to feel better. Caring for him.
“Thank you,” he barely whispers, clearing his throat softly. “It’s very nice of you.”
“You’re always nice to me, so,” she shrugged.
They sat down then, he dragged his chair from his desk over to hers. Sitting in close as she explained all the meanings to her rocks. He listened carefully, getting to examine each one as she spoke.
“This one is Jade, it’s for balancing emotions and allowing compassion so I don’t scream at everyone on the phone,” she laughed as she placed one in his hands. Her fingers brushing his palm softly.
It was a beautiful green stone with a thin white line running through it, separating into 3 directions as he flipped it over, “it’s beautiful.”
“I know some people don’t believe in this stuff,” she started to get embarrassed as she placed them all back on the shelf. “But I’ve always thought; if the moon, which is just a rock, can control the water, and humans are 70% water, then who’s to tell me the moon cycles don’t control my emotions and these smaller rocks can’t help problem areas?”
“You’re not wrong,” he shook his head softly as he thought her words over. “People depended on the stars and planets for guidance originally, as well as rocks and herbs for healing, just because it’s outdated doesn’t mean it doesn’t work?”
“Thank you,” she smiled. “No one has ever agreed with me that easily.”
“Anytime you want to talk, I’ll just be over there,” he pointed at his desk. “And I’m a phone call away?” He swallowed sharply at his boldness, trying to stay calm as he awaited her answer.
“I do have your number,” she smiled, reaching out to place her hand on his. “But you should go home, I’m sure you’re chilled out now.”
“Yeah,” he agreed, staring at her hand as they touched. He lightly wrapped his hand around hers, holding it slightly, running his thumb over her knuckles. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“And every day after,” she whispered, tilting her head as she smiled at him.
This was going to be interesting.
Penelope was always dragging him out. She would take him shopping, to dinner, to the movies. She was like his big sister, dedicated to making sure he wasn’t always cooped up or trying to retreat into a fantasy life.
She kept him busy.
She had 4 bags in her hands as they walked down the street, peering into the store windows to see what else she could possibly be interested in taking home for someone. That’s when they passed the natural health store.
He stopped in his tracks, seeing all the different rocks on the wall accompanies by little cards that described how they could help. He opened the door and rushed inside before Penelope even noticed he stopped following her.
“Good afternoon!” The shop owner called out to him. “How can I assist you today?”
“Um, the girl I like has a rock collection,” he says softly, knowing Penelope is behind him listening. “Crystals more specifically, I’d like to get her some?”
“Well, you came to the right place,” the man beams, escorting him to the wall of rocks. “What is she like?”
“Wonderful,” the words are carried out of his mouth on a sigh as he thinks about her. “She’s confident and nice, and caring. She’s always positive and just so lovely.”
“I’ve got you,” the man starts picking rocks off the wall and placing them in his hands.
Spencer follows him to the desk where he lays down a handful of rocks, Penelope is shockingly quiet as she stands beside him, staring at the collection. She’ll be full of questions later, all of which he is terrified of.
“This is a rose quartz, pretty basic love, beauty, anti-depression stone,” he pushes the pink and a green rock towards him. “Serpentine is for new adventures, observation and insight. I have a feeling you’re up for an adventure with her?”
Spencer nodded enthusiastically, “I like that one. It would be better to get her some rare ones, some that have to do with friendship, new beginnings, or opportunities?” He tried to explain his feelings as best as he could. Not knowing if he sounded dumb for a change.
The man smiled wide, “here,” he dipped below the counter and dug out a box. “Chrysocolla is literally for new beginnings, love and opportunity.”
He hands Spencer a vitreous, raw blue stone with small green marks running all through it, it’s beautiful like her. “This is perfect.”
“I’ll throw in a Kiwi Jasper as well, it’s for being by someone's side, support and trust. As well as a Ruby in Zoisite it symbolizes finding the joy in life with someone,” he hands Spencer two equally beautiful stones, prepping a bag and wrappings for all of them.
Spencer lays out the 5 stones he picked out, watching him wrap them with care before placing them in a bag. He rings everything up, Spencer pays and before he’s even out the door Penelope is pouncing on him for answers.
“Who?!”
He can't help but blush and stutter, trying to brush past her and continue walking down the street. “You can’t hide forever Spencer, who is she?”
“How do you know it’s a she?”
“You literally said so?” She looks at him like he’s an idiot. “Come on? I won't tell anyone!”
“Y/N.”
The gears are turning in Penelope's head as she tries to place a face to the name, knowing she’s seen her somewhere, “From the office?”
He nods softly, “the one Derek bullies me for staring at?” He clues her in more as they walk.
“He also bullies her for staring at you,” she adds with a smile. “She’s going to love those, when are you going to give them to her?”
“I was thinking about just leaving one on her desk every day? Maybe with a note for why I picked it?” He really wants to woo her, she’s too special to just flirt with.
“She’s going to love that.”
Sure enough, he walked into work every day for the next week, placing a rock on a sticky note on her desk. He was never around when she was able to see it, only knowing she got it when he'd arrive at work the next morning with a note reading 'thank you ♥︎ ' on top of his files.
He thinks about her all weekend, planning how he'll give her the last rock as he takes the elevator up that morning. Only to see her sitting at her desk, phone pressed to her ear as she tried to talk someone out of suing the FBI, she looked absolutely miserable. Just a casual Monday morning for her, almost at the end of her shift.
He rushed over to his desk, putting all his stuff down to dig one of the rocks from his satchel. Picking the Kiwi Jasper for today, he grabbed a pen and a sticky note and wrote her a little note.
“Always here if you need to talk, -Spencer ♥︎”
He walked over to her desk, she was still talking so she didn’t notice him until he was right there, she looked up at him with a thankful smile.
“Yes sir,” she answered the person talking to her. “Can I call you back after I speak to the chief? thanks.” She hung up on him, turning all her attention to Spencer.
“I know you know it's been me leaving these, but I brought you in another one,” he says softly, placing the rock in her hand and sticking the note to the shelf where it would end up.
“oh my gosh, Spencer?” She placed her free hand on her heart as she looked at the rock.
“You looked upset?”
She stands and pulls him into a hug, he can feel all the eyes on him as he holds her back, letting his chin rest on her shoulder as she squeezes him.
“Thank you,” she whispered as she pulled back, awkwardly smiling at him as she also noticed everyone staring.
“Always,” he smiled back, hand still resting on her arm. “Um, I have a case I need to get to.”
“Of course, good luck,” she smiled.
He pulls the tiger's eye out of his shirt pocket, showing her that he still had it, “kinda hard not to have good luck with this.”
She bit back a smile, her eyes gleaming as she took a deep breath through her nose. Releasing the same feelings he was keeping inside, allowing both their butterflies to swarm out together.
He loved when they had cases in Virginia. Being able to stay in the bullpen and work was relaxing, it was easier to think where he felt safe.
He was working on the geo profile all alone, a huge map stretched across a clear case board as he laid a yardstick across it. Drawing a thick red line with marker over it, in his own little world as he worked away.
He doesn’t realize she’s standing there too until she’s lightly pressing her hand on his back.
“Hey,” she whispers softly. “It’s 10 pm, thought you’d like a coffee?” She places the purple mug on his desk with her purse, turning her attention back to what he’s doing.
“Thank you, I’m almost done here,” he says softly, finishing the red triangle he was making on the map.
“I’ve always found it fascinating how you do this,” she complimented him. “You’re so careful.”
“Like baking, it’s an exact science,” he smiled softly.
It made her giggle slightly, placing her hand back on his back as she moved in closer to look. He wanted her to stay there forever, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to focus. He tried his best to steady his hand as he finished the line.
Putting the yardstick back down and turning to her, she doesn’t move her hand, instead, softly moving to rest on his arm as she stands close to him. “How are you?”
He feels nervous for some reason, it’s not like she hasn’t been this close to him before. It’s just that she’s close and she smells wonderful and he wonders if her lips would be a better wake-up call than the coffee she brought.
He realizes he’s staring at her lips when he licks his own, “I’m good,” he furrows his brow and clears his throat with a nod.
She smirks at him, “how come you’re the only one still here? Hotch said it could wait till tomorrow?”
“I was waiting for you,” he admits, “but I got carried away setting this up, I never heard you come in?”
“Cause I didn’t,” she scrunches her nose slightly as she straightens her stance. “I saw you working hard and went right to get you a coffee.”
“You’re wonderful,” he blushes as the words slip out, trying his best to keep eye contact when all he wants to do is kiss her.
She pats his arm slightly as she backs up a little, grabbing her bag from where she set it on his desk. “I’m going to set up for the night, come talk to me before you leave?”
“Of course,” he says as she walks away, letting out a small sigh as he realizes just how badly he wants her.
He never gets to talk to her before he leaves, she’s on the phone when hotch comes storming in. Saying something about another body and making Reid leave with him. He’s busy for 3 days straight, thinking about her with every free thought he’s able to squeeze in.
He carries the rock from her in his pocket everywhere he goes; in his pants beside his keys, in his bag with his books, in his breast pocket, over his heart, behind a bulletproof vest. Feeling it press against his chest, a part of her keeping him safe where ever he went.
They finish the case with minimal damage, Spencer specifically making sure that Derek leaves all the doors on the hinges for Y/N’s sake, cleaning up any messes they make so she won’t have to hear about it over the phone. They all notice that he’s doing it for her, quietly appreciating the fact that Spencer is happy for a change, that there’s a glimmer of hope in his eyes again.
He arrives back at Quantico 30 minutes before her shift starts. Everyone else is packing up for the day while he sits at his desk, reading to occupy the time before she comes in.
Only she doesn’t.
30 minutes pass and she’s nowhere to be seen, it’s only 9:02 by the time he starts to panic. Wondering if she’s okay, hoping she’s just in the elevator or grabbing a coffee that’s actually good, somewhere outside of the office.
“Reid,” he hears Hotch calling him from his office door. “She just called in, her grandmother passed away last night so she won't be in.”
“Oh,” he furrows his brow, looking at him with confusion. “How did you know?”
“Penelope,” he smiles. “She’s still here too, and she knows where Y/N lives.”
“It wouldn’t be weird to go see if she’s okay?”
Hotch just smiles at him again, “go see her, Reid.”
Getting her address from Penelope felt a little weird, but she writes it on a sticky note for him and he’s out the door before she can even pry into what he’s going to say. Which is good, because he doesn’t know yet.
It’s late, but he stops by the little rock store on his way to her house. Seeing the lights still on and the same man from before behind the counter.
“Welcome back,” he’s overly cheerful for it being so late. “How did she like them?”
“She likes the ones I’ve given her so far,” he smiles, looking over the wall himself this time for the right one.
Scanning past every emotion and affirmation known to man as he looked around, picking out a beautiful pink Rhodonite for healing grief, supposedly acting as a hug from emotional troubles. And a Rainbow Moonstone for inner peace, harmony and strength.
“She’s lost someone recently?” He asks as Spencer places them on the counter.
“Her grandmother,” he says softly. “These are good, right?”
“They’ll be perfect, we also have amethyst bracelets, they’re good for healing and drawing in positive energy,” he points towards the small display of bracelets. Small purple stones separated with small gold beads.
He picks up 2 of them, placing them on the counter as well.
“Is she still just a crush?”
Spencer laughs lightly, “unfortunately.”
“She might be more after this,” he smirks, ringing him up. “I’ll give you a 2 for one deal on everything, I have a feeling you’ll be in a lot.”
Spencer thanks him as he pays, picking out a small purple bag for the rocks and bracelet. Placing one on his own wrist before leaving. Also picking up some cookie dough ice cream and a card at the corner store just beside her apartment. Remembering all the times Penelope, JJ or Emily has mentioned it being the best ice cream for crying.
He takes a very deep breath before knocking on her door, hoping to every god out there that she doesn’t find this incredibly inappropriate and weird.
“Spencer?” He hears her voice before she even opens the door, looking out the peephole at him.
She whips the door open, eyes puffy and swollen as she looks at him in shock. She’s in a big sweater and shorts, tears dripping down her cheeks as she shakes her head at him.
“I thought you could use some cheering up?” He awkwardly smiles, holding the ice cream up for her to see.
She wraps her arms around his middle, burying her face against his coat. Still crying as she holds him, he holds her with his free hand, shushing her as he presses his cheek to her head.
She pulls back with a sniffle, “come in,” she offers with an arm out, ushering him inside the small room as she closes the door.
He takes his shoes off, handing her the ice cream so he can take off his coat and satchel too. “This isn’t weird right?”
“Not at all,” she laughs slightly through the awkwardness. “You don’t know how much it means to me that you care this much.”
“I brought something for you,” he says as he struggles to dig everything out of his pocket.
He hands her the card and the little purple bag, seeing the overwhelming glance grow on her face. Her eyes grew wide as he mouth opened, speechless.
She opened the card first, reading the passage about grief that was already provided. Dealing with grief was something Spencer knew too well, adding something a little special to the bottom of the card.
“To live in hearts we left behind is not to die,” -Thomas Campbell. As long as you remember her, with a smile on your face and love in your heart, she will always be with you ♥︎ Spencer
She wipes her tears with her forearm, placing the card on the counter beside the ice cream before she opens the bag. She pulls out the bracelet first, absolute shock on her face.
“Spencer?” Is all she can say, in a high squeak as she shakes her head at him.
“I didn’t want you to be sad,” he says softly, stepping into her space and placing a hand on her arm. “I love seeing you smile, and I thought this could help.
He takes the bracelet from her grasp and places it over her hand. Resting it on her wrist softly, straightening it out against her sweater as she notices the matching on over his shirt sleeve.
“Oh this is so cute,” she swoons. “thank you, really Spencer.”
“And there are some rocks for grief healing in there too, one is supposedly like an emotional hug which should heal the grief and sorrow, and the other is more for inner peace and harmony,” he rambles away, not wanting her to miss anything.
She pours the rocks from the bag, into her hand, looking them over silently with a smile, “they’ll look great on my desk.”
“The purple looks nice on you too,” he compliments her, watching her eyes drift up to him.
She places the rocks on the counter before wrapping her arms around him once more. This time he’s able to actually hold her back, tight as possible as he rubs his hand over her back.
She smells like home, clean laundry and happiness. She’s soft and warm, he holds her perfectly against his chest, like she was a missing puzzle piece that someone finally found under the table, she fits into his life like she was supposed to be there.
She kisses his cheek softly before she pulls back, causing him to pull her into a real kiss on impulse. Connecting their lips as she sighs into the contact, melting into his grasp as she kisses him back.
Her lips are soft, fitting between his own gently as she breathes him in. Her hands reach up to grip his cheeks, kissing him again and again, placing pecks to his lips and cheeks with her eyes closed as he giggles.
“Thank you,” she whispers against his lips, “for everything.”
“I’d do anything for you,” he whispers back, kissing her one last time before she pulls away.
“I was actually about to smoke some weed on the fire escape and probably cry some more,” she laughs lightly. “would you like to join me?”
“I’ll stick with a bowl of ice cream,” he smiled awkwardly.
“Nice one,” she laughs as she opens the ice cream.
“What?”
“Oh, you didn’t even get the reference you made,” she laughs lightly, “to get high you smoke a bowl, so…”
It makes him smile, “I'm a comedian part-time.”
He makes her laugh again, loving the sound of her giggle replacing the tears. “Why aren’t you this funny at work?”
He thinks about it for a little, watching her scoop the ice cream into two bowls, “it’s a little hard to make jokes when people's lives are on the line, I know everyone else does but I get too focused.”
“They probably wouldn’t appreciate your jokes even if you did make them,” she says as she handed him a bowl with a spoon. “They’re kind of mean to you, in a family way but it still sucks sometimes to overhear.”
She walks into the living area then, grabbing a few blankets and opening the window to the fire escape. Crawling out to sit on the ledge, waiting for him.
“I don’t mind it,” he says as he finally sits down beside her.
She places the blanket over their laps, both of them sitting criss-cross applesauce as they ate.
“Do you like your job?” She asks him, just like he once asked her.
“Most of the time,” he nodded as he got brain freeze. The cold air, the cold ice cream, everything that was catching up to him as he scrunched his face up at the feeling.
She laughs at him only a bit before she’s also attacked by the brain freeze, holding the vein in her neck as she chokes out another laugh, trying to warm up the blood going to her head so the pain would stop.
They’re both just a mess of giggles together, unable to say any words as they let it all out. She leans her head on his shoulder lightly as they calm down to just soft chuckles. He presses his cheek against her head.
“Thank you, Spencer,” it sounds like she’s crying a bit. “My grandma was a lovely woman, she’d be glad I’m laughing right now.”
He reached out a hand for her to hold over the blanket. She interlocked their fingers softly, both cold from holding their ice cream bowls.
“If she was anything like you, I’m sure she was the most wonderful woman,” he says softly, not intending to make her cry but having a feeling he might.
“Would you be interested in holding me on the couch while I cry?” She asked softly, tears in her eyes as she looked up at him.
“Whatever you need, I’m here for you.”
He’s late for work the next morning.
Waking up to the smell of coffee, opening his eyes to a strange view. He’s on a couch he doesn’t recognize in a room he doesn’t know too well.
Then he remembers, they ended up cuddled up on the couch. He wakes up to the memory of her on his chest, crying softly as they listened to some music, he ran his hand over her back while she went through it all, blessed to have his support.
He fell asleep under her at some point, waking up alone with a blanket laid over him. He sat up to see her in the kitchen, pouring coffee into a travel mug.
“Good, you’re awake,” she smiles at him. “Coffee is ready, I uh, I have this button-up shirt from a guy friend, if you wanted to wear that to work today? So they don’t think you stayed here?”
“That’s smart,” he replies as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes.
Getting up, he uses the bathroom, changes and takes that coffee from her. He’s not expecting her to kiss him on the lips at the door, but she sends him off to work like an old housewife.
He doesn’t want to pull away from her, keeping her pressed against him as he leans in for 4 more kisses before she finally pushes him out into the hallway with a laugh, “get to work!”
“Fine,” he sighs, “are you going to be in tonight?”
“Yeah,” she smiles, “funeral is in West Virginia next week, so I’ll be in until then.”
“I’ll see you later?”
She nods slightly with a soft smile, “you’ll be seeing a lot of me soon, Spencer.”
“Good,” he winks at her before heading down the hallway and towards the street entrance.
He sighs as he walks outside, resting his back against the apartment complex door, taking a moment to think about everything that just happened, the night of company and the wonderful send-off.
It was something he could get used to.
He rushes into the briefing room when he arrives at Quantico, sitting down with his coffee and pretending he wasn’t late. Listening carefully to JJ’s presentation of the case as he flips through everything he missed already.
“Wheels up in 30,” he heard Hotch say as he zoned back in. “Nice of you to join us, Reid.”
“I know that travel mug from somewhere,” Derek said as he stared at Spencer, who was taking a sip to avoid the awkwardness.
“Hmm?” He played dumb.
“That’s Y/N’s. She washes it every morning when she leaves to go home, I see her do it every morning,” his eyes open wide. “Holy shit.”
“Isn’t that the same tie and slacks from yesterday?” Emily teased him as well.
“Her grandma died, I brought her ice cream and slept on the couch okay?” He all but yelled, flailing his arms slightly so they’d all back off.
Derek reached his fist out for him to pound it, “good man.”
Then Penelope noticed the bracelet, “did she get you that?”
He sunk his hand into his pocket then, “no.”
“What?” Emily and JJ asked in unison, straining their necks to try and get a good look at what she was talking about.
He nervously held his arm out for them, showing them the purple bracelet resting over the sleeve of his shirt. “I got one for her too, it’s for healing and peace. It’s what she needs right now.”
“Oh, so you love her,” Derek smiles as he teases him. Making everyone else in the room swoon slightly.
“Okay and?”
“Oh my god!” Most of them shout at him, embarrassing him to no end. He was so glad she wasn’t at work this morning or else she would be able to hear this from her desk.
“Did you kiss her?” Rossi pries, asking what everyone else was thinking.
He scrunches his face, pushing his glasses up slightly as he clears his throat, “a few times.”
“Is she your girlfriend?” JJ kept the questions coming.
“Not yet,” he said softly. “Kinda weird to walk into her apartment while she cries to say ‘hey sorry about the death in your family, want to date me?’”
“Yeah,” Emily agrees, shrugging lightly. “At least she knows you like her now, it’s been what? 2 years?”
“2 years, 3 months, 17 days and 43 minutes,” he confirms with a small nod and pressed lips.
“Gross,” Derek teases him.
“The plane is leaving in 10 minutes,” Hotch cut into their fun.
Making them all gather their things and continue the interrogation in the elevator, and eventually on the plane, and in the police precinct. Even Penelope called him in the middle of everything to bug him about her.
The questions were never-ending, everyone wanted to know how they even started talking, who made the first move, how he plans to ask her out. They were relentless, he almost regretted admitting to anything.
They bug him all throughout the day, all the way until they’re arriving back at the BAU late that same night. He almost doesn’t want to go back to the bullpen and see her with all of them, knowing they were going to follow and say something.
She’s waiting in the hall when the elevator doors open, a pressed-lipped smile on her face, “bad news.”
“Another one?” Hotch sighs, “have Garcia send us the info. Be at the table in 10.” He pushes his way out of the elevator, passed them all as they stare at Y/N.
“Hi?” She awkwardly waves at them all, showing off the bracelet on her wrist.
“See ya, Spence,” JJ and Emily say as they matt his shoulder, dragging Derek and Rossi towards the bullpen doors.
“Sorry,” he apologizes for them softly, stepping into her space.
She wraps him up in a quick hug, keeping one arm around his waist as she guides him towards the bullpen, “it’s fine, they’re going to have to get used to us being together.”
“Together?” He repeats her words.
“I only cry on my boyfriend's shoulders, if you're up for the title?” She teases him softly, pinching his side as they walk towards the doors.
“Can I frame “Dr. Spencer Reid, Y/N’s boyfriend” beside my Ph.D.’s?” He keeps his hand on her shoulder, holding each other slightly as they walk towards her desk. He felt like one of those kids who wouldn’t let go of their girlfriend's hand in the school hallway, attached to her at the hip.
“I’ll make one for you while you’re gone,” she laughs lightly.
They stop at her desk where he sees all rocks he got her collecting on the shelf, as well as a cup of coffee and his favourite kind of donut.
“Thought you deserved something nice too,” she says as she nudges his side.
He kisses her on the cheek as a thank you, “you’re welcome,” she smiles to herself. A feeling of pride growing in both their chests.
“See you later?” He asks as he picks up the coffee and donut, walking away slowly as she smiles at him.
“Come home to me safely, Doctor Reid,” her voice is just loud enough for everyone in the briefing room, where everyone is waiting at the window, watching them, deciding to put on a show in return.
He stops on the steps to look at her softly, “I’d fight a thousand unsubs to come home to you.”
“I’ll leave the light on,” she blows a kiss at him, making him blush a deep red.
He waves, making his way up the steps and into the briefing room. A smile on his face, heart thumping in his chest, all the support in the world swarming around him as everyone patted him on the back.
That tiger’s eye really did bring him good luck and happiness, and her name was Y/N.

Lights Off
i wrote a best friend!JJ x fem!reader where the reader gets grounded and JJ, as always, knows how to make it better.
word count: 1.9k
Part One: Dancing by the Fire
Part Two: Boat Ride Confessions
trigger warnings: abuse, being grounded, reference to sex
gif by @anakin-skywalker
Tumblr media
you were pretty certain you had a crush on JJ.
you'd gotten grounded the last time you'd stayed out, which was about a week ago at this point. your phone was taken and you were only allowed out to go to work and back. not that it mattered, because the electric was shut off because your mom doesn't read the mail. the two week notice doesn't really work if no one reads it. you were bored out of your mind, but at least your room stayed relatively cool with the light always off.
you were laying on your back on the floor, legs up against the side of your bed. your mind was on JJ as you stared up at the ceiling. the crush you had was actually growing with each passing second, with little to no avail. you would recognize your crush on him after spending a week away from him. from the way Sarah and John B. had talked after the boat ride, you were pretty certain JJ had a crush on you too. hopefully it didn't go away in the week you've been gone. or the weeks to come, you were grounded indefinitely.
"hey, are you alive?" you heard a voice from your window. you recognized it instantly as JJ, so you quickly hopped to your feet and approached your window. he looked worried, but your smiling face eased that a bit.
"alive. i've decided to live in the dark, however," you looked around your room, scrunching your nose. "no electricity allowed."
"doesn't that affect like, your running water?" JJ flipped his hat around, leaning on your window.
"i have work, so i use the restroom there," you shrugged, then tilted your head. "you know how running water works?"
"i may have heard Pope talk about it once," JJ smirked, making you laugh. "i gotta sound smart for you, sweetheart."
sweetheart.
"oh, J, you wanna come in?" you moved away from the window. he climbed in, letting out a breath and fixing his hat.
"your room hasn't changed a bit," JJ moved around your room. he's actually been in your room multiple times, so you roll your eyes at him.
"you were in here like two weeks ago. you think i remodeled since then?" you crossed your arms.
"i think you've had a lot of free time, since you've disappeared this past week," he turned around to face you. he was trying to joke, but you could tell he was worried.
"i'm grounded, JJ. i'm not allowed to leave unless it's for work and she took my phone," you sat on your bed. "feel free to bring me snacks, since all the food in our fridge has been eaten or gone bad."
"your mom let the electricity go out?" he sat next to you, then proceeded to lay down. you fell on your back beside him.
"yeah. she didn't pay the bill, or read the notice," you mumbled, staring at the ceiling once again. "i feel kind of bad, because all my money from work has gone to you guys."
"you spent your whole paycheck on us?" JJ rolled to look at you. "you don't have any saved up?"
"of course i have money saved up, but i also think i shouldn't be the one to keep the electricity on," you turned your head to look at him, realizing how close you two were. "i'd spend all my money on you guys if you needed it."
"my money just goes to beer, weed, and a new shirt once in a while," JJ joked, half smiling.
"i got the cases of beer for the boat ride. i donated to something for Kie. i bought John B. and Sarah condoms," you laughed, turning back to face the ceiling.
"for Pope?"
"it's stupid," you licked your lips. "like, literally a waste of money."
"what, did he not appreciate it or something?" JJ was frowning, you knew it. you could hear it in his voice.
"i bought him a star," you whispered, covering your face with your hands.
"a what?" JJ pulled your hands off your face. "you bought a..."
"star! i bought Pope a star for his last birthday," you told him. "i got him a frame with a picture of it, and named it after him and everything. i don't think he ever hung it up, i never saw it again."
"you bought him a STAR?" JJ exclaimed, looking dumbfounded. "like a real ass star?"
"a real ass star," you smiled at him. "i told you it was stupid."
"you bought him a star, that's fucking crazy," he sat up. "and he didn't even hang it?"
"last i heard it was in his closet," you sat up as well. "are you really that upset about a star, J?"
"you're the one in love with him, why aren't you more upset?"
"i'm not...i never loved him, JJ," you leaned into him a little, shrugging. "he had been talking about space for a week before hand and i got it for him when i thought i liked him."
"what do you mean? you never liked him?" JJ stood up.
"i thought i did, but i didn't. i don't," you shook your head. "he's what my mom would want for me, and basically the opposite of my dad."
"no wonder she hates me," JJ laughed, but it didn't reach his eyes. you grabbed his hand, squeezing it.
"it's you and me, J. no matter what her or anyone else says," you stood too. "i promise."
"Y/N! i brought home dinner!" your mom yelled, making you and JJ both see your life flash before you. your mom was quite scary, and JJ had gotten yelled at and pelted with a BB gun too many times to count.
"i'll grab it in a minute!" you yelled, pulling JJ around your room. he looked less scared than you were as you shoved him in your closet. "i'm sorry, i'll come get you as soon as i can."
"i've been in here before, sweetheart. don't worry about me," JJ winked. you rolled your eyes, closing the closet door.
"did that Maybank boy come see you? i saw his bike outside," your mom said, coming into your room.
"no," you crossed your arms. "don't you think i'd be in a better mood if he was here?"
"i don't know anything about you anymore! you act more like your father every day," your mother told you. "i paid the electricity bill and was going to let you off of your grounding, but with an attitude like that you can stay in here until the end of the summer."
"i feel more and more like dad every day i'm locked in here," you said before you could think. your mother turned from where she was leaving your room and smacked your mouth.
"one more word, and you'll be in even more trouble. no phone, no Maybank boy, no car," your mother left your room. you stood there for a moment, holding in your anger.
"i'm gonna get my dinner, i'll be right back," you said, closing your door behind you. you quickly grabbed the meal she'd ordered you, even though you weren't hungry now.
"JJ, do you want a hamburger?" you whispered, opening the closet door.
"are you okay?" he asked, taking your face in his hands.
"if you keep acting like that, girls really will get the wrong idea about us," you tried to smile, but he wasn't having it.
"i couldn't care less about anyone else right now. are you okay?" he asked. you knew he couldn't have seen anything from the closet, so the sound must have set him off.
"i have your stupid face to look at, of course i'm okay," you pulled his hands off your face. "this could be our final meal, so shut up and eat with me."
"going back to our conversation earlier," JJ sat down in the closet. you sat down across from him, taking all the food out of the bag. "what'd you buy me?"
"oh, we're just gonna go back to that," you laughed, taking a fry. "i didn't actually buy you anything."
"you donate to charity, provide protection, and pull a star out of the sky, but i get half a hamburger in your closet? also you didn't even pay for this," JJ takes a bite, feigning anger.
"it's hard to explain," you took a sip of the Sprite your mom had gotten you. "it wasn't really for you, but more like for you to see."
"because i wouldn't be able to see a star," JJ mumbled.
"are you jealous?" you leaned forward. "if i didn't know any better, i would think you have a crush on me."
"oh sweetheart, if only you knew," he leaned forward as well, smirking. "go on, though. what'd you buy with me in mind?"
it was a challenge, you realized. who would falter first? who would laugh it off, take it back? who would prefer to keep the friendship than to take it to the next step?
"i buy bathing suits in your favorite color," you bit your lip, smiling slightly. "i always buy your favorite snacks first. i switched the brand of beer i got because you liked one better than the other. i bought the perfume i'm wearing after you mentioned you prefer a fruity smell to a floral one."
"with all your talk of Pope, who would have thought you'd be doing all that for me?" JJ chuckled to himself, leaning back. "how...sweet of you."
"anything for you J. anything," you leaned back, smiling widely now.
"i can't believe you just flirted with me," JJ was smiling widely too, taking a couple fries.
"says the boy sitting on my bedroom floor, hiding from my mom," you countered.
"i'm not denying flirting with you," JJ admitted, watching as the cockiness drained from your face. you knew JJ liked you, you'd put it together. and you liked him - hell, you two have been flirting with one another for quite a while. you were best friends, so honestly doing anything more than what seemed to be harmless flirting hadn't crossed your mind until this passing week.
you were a hundred percent sure you had feelings for JJ, though. sleeping in his bed, wearing his clothes, the flirting, the way he'd hold your hand or put an arm around you. it wasn't like your feelings for Pope (if you could really call them that). it was so much more.
"me either," you let out a breath. "what happens when two friends end up flirting?"
"we can do what Kie and Pope did," JJ licked his lips, looking down.
"no pogue-on-pogue macking is an important rule, JJ," you raised your eyebrows.
JJ moved forward, this time his lips to your ear, "we don't have to kiss if you don't want to. i'm sure i can keep yo-"
"Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N!" your mother yelled, entering your room. you and JJ couldn't help but let out a yell as he rushed to climb out your window and run to his bike. he was off in an instant, bike roaring to life.
"you can't stop me from seeing him," you told your mom, though she was seething with anger. "either i go to him, or he comes to me. it's been that way for a while."
"i'm licensed to carry a gun, young lady. that little boyfriend of yours shows his face around here again and he'll not only get thrown in jail for trespassing, but shot," she slammed your door on the way out.

Just Two Sad Roommates
Corpse Husband x Reader(Female)
Warnings: Swearing (maybe)
Genre: Angst, Fluff
Summary: The power of medieval tavern music gets put to the test when Corpse’s roommate is having a rough day. SPOILER ALERT: it’s more powerful than anyone could assume.
Requested by Anon. You know who you are 😊😋 Wish I could tag you, I loved this idea so much and had such a fun time writing it. Hope you enjoy it just as much 🥰
The last twenty four hours haven’t been so great.
Last night I had a huge fight with my boyfriend over his flirty messages with several girls. It was not just witty banter, it was way more and way more hurtful to me. He obviously denied it and defended himself, at least in the beginning of the argument. Then he took on the accusatory stance, pointing fingers at me for living with another guy. That had me absolutely fuming. Not only was his statement fabricated and literally made up on the spot, but he also used some seriously horrible insults for him. I was having non of it. Corpse is a really great roommate, sweet guy and overall amazing person. I haven’t once argued with him since we’ve started living together. We’re actually quite good friends. So hearing my asshole boyfriend call him all those names was more than enough to chase him out of the apartment. Thankfully, Corpse wasn’t home to hear all that. He rarely leaves the apartment but by some miracle this was the time he was absent.
Then this morning my mom called me to have a chat. It started off decently enough but it only remained that way for so long. It didn’t take her long to start criticizing each and every element of my existence. From my job, my boyfriend, my living arrangement, the career I’ve decided to pursue, the fact I moved to a different state, my paycheck that’s lower than her friend’s daughter’s...…..You get the point.
Now I’m sitting here, contemplating what the two years I’ve been in a relationship with Marcus mean to me. I guess it is just like a phone call from my mother - starts off nice but slowly deteriorates. All things follow this pattern in my life, apparently. And just like the phone calls, I’ve considered ending things between me and him many times but never actually decided on it. Until now. The last part of this decision is executing it, which doesn’t look very promising. My thumbs are frozen, hovering over the keyboard.
I take a second to take a look at my life from a third person point of view, like an out of body experience. I am wrapped in a blanket, huddled on the couch like a burrito with a face. A really sad burrito with a face. I have a job where I work as much as three highly ranked workers and get paid a little over a secretary’s paycheck. I’m in a constant state of exhaustion and disinterest. I often forget I’m human and just assume I can live like a cactus - no food, no water. I have a boyfriend that’s cheating on me and most likely has been for quite some time now. And we’ve been dating for two fucking years. Man, that must be the longest cheat streak in history. Who knows with how many girls as well. And I still have trouble deciding weather to break up with him or not. Actually no, scratch that, I have already decided, but it feel so unnatural and so out of character that my body refuses to complete the task of delivering the final blow to the structure of this relationship which was already weak to begin with.
And it only got weaker when I started catching feelings for another guy. I know, I know, I’m a bad person for that, but I was never planning to act on those feelings. They have always just...lingered, loomed over me. They got stronger and stronger every time Marcus and I would fight, as though they were laughing at my mock of a relationship.
Speaking of laughter, I hear my roommate laughing in his recording room. I gave him the spare room for his recording equipment for a cheap add to his rent fee and it’s probably the second best decision I’ve ever made - first being picking him to be my roommate. He was among the first to reply to my online add and appeared the least sketchy over the phone. More hypnotizing if I’m honest. He could’ve told me he was a hitman and I wouldn’t have batted an eye, handing the keys to his room and the apartment without a second thought. All he had to do was keep talking. Again, SUE ME.
“Fuck, I’m so fucking pathetic!“ I drop my phone when all the strings inside me snap, releasing the sobs and tears I’ve been holding back for so long.
I bring my knees up to my chest, hiding my head in between them, desperately trying to shield myself from the plane crash that is my life at the moment. Crying makes me feel even sadder and more miserable but I have nothing left to do to get all the crap that’s piled up inside me out.
I’m on the verge of falling asleep, the tears have dried and the sobs have died somewhere in my chest, when I hear what sounds like music straight from Robin Hood’s time.
Holy shit, I’ve lost it
I lift my head from in-between my knees, looking around the living room for the source of the jolly, lighthearted tune which despite all the heaviness of my self-loathing makes me feel like the main character in an medieval adventure. Wait...Holy crap, it’s that medieval adventure, Robin Hood-ass music I hear from Corpse’s room!
I whip around to face the entrance from to the hallway where I see an arm sticking out, holding a phone which is where the music is coming from.
“Corpse?“ I call out to him in a questioning manner, shifting to a sitting position with my blanket kicked off of me and bunched up next to me.
“I can’t tell if you’re angry or sad...or both. Didn’t want to get attacked upon entering the room.“ I see the right side of his face peek out as well.
I break out into laughter, covering my mouth with one hand, “You’re such a dork.”
He takes this as a sign to come in, pausing the music as he does so. “What’s wrong?”
My laugh stops but a smile remains on my face as I look at him. He just has that effect on me. “A lot. What’s going on with you?”
He shrugs his shoulders, plopping down on the couch, “The usual, streaming Among Us. You should play with me and my friends some time.”
I scoff, “I can pull of a lie no problem. Maybe I really should.” I don’t actually consider it, it’s just funny to think about.
I have never watched any of Corpse’s content. Not his scary story videos, not his streams, not his animated compilations. Just his songs. And let me tell you...they are hella good. One song and I was hooked.
“Hey, I have a question.“ I tilt my head to look at him, “What’s with you and your love for medieval adventure music?“
“Medieval tavern music, and it’s not really love.“ He shakes his head with this dopey grin that is just. so. adorable. “More like a coping mechanism. Tell me, did you feel less sad I played it for you?“
I stop and think for a second. “Yeah, I think so.”
“Point made.“ He declares, leaving me to nod in amusement. “Now, tell me what that ‘a lot’ is.“
So, I do. I tell him everything, from how my boyfriend is cheating on me to how my mother thinks I’m a complete failure. He listens carefully, paying close attention to everything I’m saying. I catch myself laughing a few times while I retell the recent upsetting events.
Must be that music.
“So, you broke up?“ He asks once I end my monologue with a sigh
I shake my head disappointedly, “Not yet. I still haven’t pulled the plug. I don’t know what to say.”
He holds out his hand to me, “May I be of assistance?”
I look at his hand then at him and contemplate for only a second before deciding ‘what the hell’ and handing over my phone after unlocking it. The screen displays my boyfriend’s chat so Corpse just types away what he has in mind. Before pressing ‘send’, he hands the phone back to me. “Proofread it.”
‘Dear Marcus, this is one of your girlfriends speaking. Yes, one of them. You think I’m not onto what you’re doing, you little shit? Well, to your dismay, I am. And so, I discontinue this relation between us. That word might have been too long for your IQ so let me rephrase: We are over. Finished. Hope your other girlfriends wake up too, unless they are already in the know, of course. Love, but really hate, Y/N‘
I was never aware this level of sass even existed.
I add a smiling emoji and send the message, sighing in relief. “I can check that off my to-do list now.”
We both lean back on the couch, looking up at the ceiling. A moment of comfortable silence takes over, leaving us both wandering in our own heads.
“Hey, um, I wanted to do this when I first moved in, but then I met your boyfriend and I took the hint. Now that you’re single, would you want to...“ he sounds a bit uncertain but continues regardless, “It’s ridiculous cause I don’t really like the idea of going out, but maybe we could order take-out...“
“Are you circling around asking me on an at-home date?“ I am surprised by how unbothered I manage to sound while I’m squealing on the inside. It’s fascinating how quickly a person can flip someone’s day around. Turns out it wasn’t the music at all. It was him that had the positive effect on mine.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch his face turn red and have to contain my laughter. The grin can’t be tamed though, especially not when he says, “Yes.”
Internally squealing, I launch myself from the couch, standing up straight in front of him. “Thai. My usual order is on the sticky note on the fridge. But first,” I offer him my hand, “I need to find out if a person can even dance to that ridiculous music.” At his amusement, my grin widens, “May I have this dance?”
He laughs that adorable laugh of his I’ve only heard through the layer of a wooden door. It’s even cuter when there’s nothing between me and its source. The source is cute too, not gonna lie.
With a shake of his head which is most likely disbelief, he takes the hand I’ve offered him, saying: “And you call me a dork.”

Hollow Pass (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Summary: When the reader has to spend a day in the mines for work, she’s less than thrilled. When the miner showing her around for the day, Dean Winchester, is an ass, she’s even less thrilled. But an accident will change all of that and if they want a chance of getting out of the mess they’re in, they’ll need to put their lives in each others hands, literally...
Pairing: Miner!Dean x reader
Word Count: 4,100ish
Warnings: language, injury, frightening/claustrophobic/near death situations
A/N: Please enjoy the first of this 2 parter!
_______
You sighed as you stood in the trailer of the manager’s office, a jumpsuit and a pair of boots sat in a chair. Your boss, bless his heart, thought it was always a good idea for corporate positions to experience a day in the mines to truly understand the product and what the little guy went through on a day to day basis. The argument that you were not really corporate, not even close, seemed to go over his head.
“Y/N, you gonna change? I need my office back,” said the manager through the door. You pulled it open and pouted. “I don’t want you going down in the mines anymore than you do but if you want to make corporate, you gotta do what the CEO says.”
“Dad I don’t even want to work there. I like my simple office job.”
“Then why have you been in all those development programs at work?” he asked. You shrugged and he sighed. “Cause you can’t say no.”
“Do I have to?” you asked, looking back at the overalls.
“Do you want to quit?” he asked.
“I don’t want to lose a good paycheck. But I don’t want a corporate job either,” you said.
“Then you’re shit outta luck,” he said. “I’m gonna put you with the Winchester boy. He’s on safety checks in our most secure mines.”
“You mean the ones that never have problems.”
“Funny how that all coincidentally happened today of all days,” he said with a smile.
“Thanks dad.”
“I don’t want you going anywhere near explosives. You’ll be safe doing the checks with Dean for the day.”
“Hi, I’m Y/N,” you said twenty minutes later. The man in overalls and a hard hat rolled his eyes.
“I’m ten minutes late because of you which means I’m gonna get docked those ten minutes of pay so thank you little miss corporate.”
“I’m your boss’ daughter, jackass.”
“Still ain’t my boss,” he said. You huffed and headed over towards the mine entrance when he grabbed the back of your overalls. “No, dummy. You have zero safety gear so unless you want to die, you’re coming with me.”
“Asshole.”
“Dean Winchester at your service,” he said, dragging you over with him to some lockers. He punched a card and went to the storage racks, seemingly grabbing a few items and putting them on. He picked the hard hat off your head and grabbed one with a light and a wire attached to it, clipping it on your belt. He put something over your shoulder you put your arm through like a sling and clipped a mask onto the back of your belt, a flashlight and a small hand pickaxe going through your other loops. “Turn this lamp on anytime you’re in the mine and never, ever, take off your hat. If I yell at you or you smell something funny, get that mask on. Flashlight and the axe are backup for emergencies.”
He put a radio in your pocket and looked you over.
“Oh and for the love of God, do not wander off. I don’t care if you see a bug or break a nail or gotta piss.”
“What do you do if you have to…” you said.
“Normally you piss against some rock like a man but special manager’s daughter we’ll walk you back out here, take our slow ass time, make me go longer than my shift and because I was late today, I don’t get overtime.”
“That sounds kinda illegal.”
“The contracts for this company are a fucking nightmare,” he said, walking out of storage.
“Why work here then?” you asked as he went to an area and grabbed a clipboard. He took two water bottles and clipped them on each of your belts before whistling for you to follow after.
“Well somebody had to pay for his baby brother to go to law school and it wasn’t going to be my drunk of a father now was it,” said Dean, stopping and writing something down.
“So you didn’t grow up with mining in your family?” you asked.
“No. I’m not some redneck hillbilly like you imagine either,” he said. He flipped on his light and turned yours on when you got to the mine entrance. “Crouch.”
“Huh?”
“We ain’t riding the cart which is missing, dumbass. Crouch down so you can fit in the tunnel,” he said. You swallowed and had to bend down some, following Dean closely. “Ain’t claustrophobic are ya cause now’s the time to tell me.”
“No,” you said. “Jerk.”
“Ah, see? We’re getting along already.”
You walked for five or so minutes before the ground sloped down further and an entrance to the right opened up. Dean straightened up and you did the same, stretching out as he grabbed the back of your jumpsuit.
“Dude, would you stop doing that?” you said.
“Would you stay in my line of sight?”
“That’s harassment. You can’t touch me without my permission,” you said, crossing your arms. He blinked a few times and rolled his eyes quite possibly the most dramatically you’d ever seen in your life.
“This? This is not an office building. Every single time you step in here you run the risk of dying and you have zero clue on how to stay safe down here. I hate it when you people with your big offices and penny pinching bullshit come down here and complain about every goddamn little thing. If you want out, get out of the fucking mining business.”
“You’re an irritable person,” you said. He grumbled and tugged you along with him until you brushed him off. You followed him down a hallway and another, Dean checking things off on his clipboard as he went. “Are you gonna explain any of this stuff?”
“What do you think?” he said. He whistled and you followed him down a few more hallways when he stopped a gauge looking contraption. He checked a few different numbers and valves on it as you spun around.
“I guess it is kinda cool. That somehow you guys know how to block up rocks and leave all these cracks and know how to make it so it doesn’t all come crashing down.”
“Cracks?” he asked as he squatted down and read off a meter.
“Yeah like that big one,” you said, pointing at the wall across the way. He turned around and looked at it for barely a second before he grabbed your arm.
“Move. Now,” he said. He pulled out his radio and pressed down the button. “We have a grade five crack in Lodge Six West. Do not blow. I repeat do not-”
The ground rumbled and you heard a splintering noise, Dean pushing you back into the hallway you’d been in. He jumped on top of you and covered your body with his, all the lights going out, a loud thundering of falling rocks happening close by. It seemed to go on and on before it finally stilled, the hallway pitch black.
“You alright?” he asked.
“I think so,” you said, coughing when you felt dust in the air.
“Don’t move,” he said. He lifted his head and there was some light, Dean looking around before climbing off of you and staring at a new wall of rock. He looked at the hallway you’d been in, clicking on his flashlight and you saw where the rock dropped off about a hundred feet away. “Well. Shit.”
“What just happened?”
“The rock was unstable and they already set off the charges and it shook the mountain so now there’s a giant hole over there and our exit is blocked.”
“What’s that way?” you asked, nodding down the only unobstructed hallway.
“Further down into the mine before you hit the decommissioned area.”
“Is there a way out,” you asked, Dean patting his side.
“Fuck. My radio is under all that,” he said. He took out yours and handed it to him, Dean nodding before he turned it on. “Main do you copy, over?”
There was silence on the other end and Dean hit the button again.
“Main this is Winchester in Lodge Six West with…what’s your name?” he asked.
“Y/N Y/L/N.”
“Y/N Y/L/N, manager’s kid. Copy, over.”
“Winchester this is Main. We got lots of calls coming in from ground crews about a shaking.”
“Lodge Six West Hall K is a giant crater of death and Hall H is buried, right up to the entrance of junction HJ.”
“Injuries?”
“We’re okay,” said Dean.
“Give me a second.”
Dean took a deep breath and coughed. He tapped your mask on your belt and you put it on, the air a bit easier to breath.
“Winchester this is Melvin.”
“She’s okay, boss. Just a little shook up. Saved our asses from winding up in the ground even if she doesn’t know it yet,” he said. He held out the radio and you pulled down the mask.
“Dad I’m fine, really. We both are. It’s just kinda dark and smelly is all.”
“I know. Put your mask on sweetie until you can get to some cleaner air,” he said. You put it back on, Dean, getting to his feet. He pulled you up and looked back at your blocked path.
“Any other collapses?” asked Dean.
“None reported so far. Everyone should be out of the mine’s or on their way. Alarm is blasting.” You looked back at Dean, his eyes shutting.
“Melvin we can’t hear it. At all.”
“Rodney’s out checking where our side of the collapse starts. We’ll get you out,” he said, someone panting in the background.
“Hall B, Mel,” he said. Dean turned away from you and sighed. No one said anything for a long time until Dean finally raised his head.
“We got two 16 ounces bottles of water. If she rations it, she’s got a shot,” said Dean quietly.
“No, she doesn’t,” said your dad, his voice softer than you’d ever heard it. “How long does your radio have?”
“Mine got crushed. Hers was on a quarter charge. I’d guess maybe an hour or two tops,” he said.
“Should we call your brother?”
“He’s hiking in Glacier Park this week. No cell service,” said Dean quietly. “Just tell him to check my bottom desk drawer. There’s something for him there.”
“I can do that,” he said. “Is there anyone...parents-”
“All due respect sir, I’d rather you talk to your daughter,” he said. Dean held out the radio to you and you picked it up, Dean skirting around the corner to the one unblocked hallway.
“Dean?” you asked, following over there. He was leaned against the wall and looked over his shoulder at you. “What’s going on?”
“They can’t dig us out in time.”
“What do you mean-”
“Talk to your dad. You’re wasting time. That battery won’t last forever,” he said. He turned back and you walked back around the corner, sitting down against the wall.
“Hi dad,” you said.
“Hey,” he said, his voice shaky. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. “Mom’s on her way down to talk, okay? She’ll be here in ten minutes.”
“I so quit this job,” you said, wiping off your eyes with the back of your hand. He laughed and you threw your head back. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything. I’m gonna stay on the line as long as I can, okay?”
“Okay. Okay.”
Two Hours Later
The battery in the radio had died about fifteen minutes ago. There was no sound aside from your sniffling and Dean’s down the hall. You got up eventually and went into the hall, sitting down beside him. You handed him the radio and he clipped it back on his belt.
“You okay?” you asked, voice hoarse.
“You try listening to someone say goodbye to their parents and not bawl,” he said. He wiped off his face and took a deep breath. “Air’s better now at least.”
“What do we do now?”
“Now,” he said, clipping his water bottle onto your belt. “You sit there and try not to exert a lot of energy and that water will last you a few days.”
“We both heard my father. They can’t drill or dig or do anything fast enough. It’d take weeks. I’m not sitting here next to your dead ass so take your damn water back,” you said, shoving it back in his chest. He didn’t speak but put it on his belt, pulling his knees into his chest. “Why were you so mean to me before? You gave up time on the phone for me. I don’t think you’re what you pretend to be.”
“I’m a dead man walking and that’s a fact.”
“Technically you’re sitting.”
He smiled and rested his face in his knees. He sat up and reached over behind you, hitting off your headlight.
“We need to conserve power as long as possible,” he said.
“Will our lights go out before we dehydrate to death?” you asked.
“Yes,” he said. “This is what it’ll be like.”
He flipped off his lamp and you swore you’d never experienced a darkness so deep. You felt his hand graze yours before holding it and you swallowed.
“Kinda less scary knowing you can turn it back on again,” he said.
“You didn’t answer my question. Why such a brute?”
“You do this job long enough and most people think you’re a dumb sack of shit with nothing in his head. You’re dead weight, odds are you’ll die down here or get into some kind of accident and have to go on disability the rest of your life. You corporate people are always so stuck up, like I’m not even good enough to be the dirt on your shoes. I didn’t give you a chance because odds were you were like all the rest of them. You’re the only reason we didn’t die in that hole, very painfully.”
“Wouldn’t we have-”
“No. It’s not a simple hole we would have fell in. Falling rocks, crushing and hitting, landing on you, ones you hit yourself. Might not kill you immediately. You’d feel it.”
“Dying of thirst is better?”
“I’d say so. Still get to keep this handsome face, or what’ll be left of it,” he said. He flipped his light back on and you scooted closer. “I think you’re very attractive.”
“Excuse me?”
“I’m gonna die in like three or four days. Life has no consequences now and I happen to find you very attractive and you seem like a smart, sweet woman that put her parents a little at ease during the worst moment of their lives.”
“Who’s your brother?” you asked. “No consequences after all.”
“He’s a lawyer...and my best friend.”
“You said you did this job for him.”
“Student debt is a bitch. I try to help him out and the overtime helps make dents in it,” he said. “Our parents had debt out their asses. It caused so many problems for us. I wanted him safe, never have to worry about the next meal on the plate or the roof over his head or having to wear my hand me downs ever again. At least he’ll get my life insurance policy. That should help.”
“I have been busting my ass since I was a college freshman in that office to move up the chain for a job I didn’t even want. I completely lost nearly all of my twenties to work. All so I could die in here.”
“Well I know this doesn't sound good but I’m glad I didn’t die all super painful. Or that I’ll be alone,” he said. You smiled and nodded, Dean returning it. “Got any bucket list shit we can pull off down here?”
“We could make out,” you said. “Never knew anyone could make that jumpsuit look good.”
“Why the fuck not,” he chuckled. He leaned in close and your helmets bonked, Dean pulling his off and yours, quickly cupping your face.
His lips were gentler than you thought, the two of you stopping when your lips were pressed together. You rested your forehead against his and broke off only an inch.
“Not as much fun at the moment as it sounded,” you breathed out.
“Pretty good last kiss though,” he said. You put your helmets back on and you grabbed his hand again.
“Don’t let go down here. Please.”
He reached to his belt and undid a little pouch, pulling out a small tether of rope. He clipped one end onto him and the other to you.
“For when the lights go out,” he said.
“How long do we got?”
“About a day, maybe a little more,” he said. You sighed and turned your head, staring down the rest of the hall. “It’s decommissioned, Y/N. It’s a death trap.”
“Is there a way out?” you asked.
“Maybe. Maybe they never find us though,” he said. You stared at him and he nodded, hitting your headlamp back on. “Enough of the pity party. Let’s go get out of here or die trying.”
He stood and held out a hand, hoisting you to your feet.
“So. What’s our best option?” you asked.
“It’s alright for a bit until we get to the decommissioned section. When we get there, that’s when it gets dangerous. Technically it’s dangerous now considering the blast but we’re okay for a bit,” he said.
“Let’s go then,” you said. He nodded and you followed him down the hall, walking side by side.
“Alright so the decommissioned section is called Hollow Pass. Beyond that is Upper Seven. If we can get to Upper Seven, we can get out the old entrance I’m pretty sure. Never been in there but hopefully it’s not a maze over there.”
“So Hollow Pass is the hard part.”
“Yeah.”
“Why was it decommissioned?”
“Unstable ground. Holes, pockets of air, rotted support beams, wood planks.”
“So it’s a death trap.”
“Yup,” he said. “We’re probably gonna die down there.”
“What do you think our odds are?”
“Well it’s been out of order for over fifty years, we have no map, I have no real idea where exactly to go...I give us 1% odds.”
“Beats are 0% odds here.”
“Good way to think about it considering we’re going to most likely die.” He stopped walking and took a deep breath. “If I fall or whatever, follow the widest hall possible and keep away from wood and cracks as best as possible. Ration your water and eventually you’ll find your way out.”
“If you fall I’m definitely not gonna make it.”
“Well at least try. You can tell my brother how devastatingly brave I was that way.”
“You just spent the past hour crying.”
“So did you,” he said. You bumped his shoulder and he returned it but it was playful and soft. You walked together quietly for a moment until Dean rounded a corner and took a deep breath.
There were a few planks across a hallway, Dean kicking them down, frowning when they broke pretty easily.
“There’s gonna be rot.”
“Lovely.”
“We don’t have to go,” he said. “You don’t have to. There’s a chance-“
“There’s no chance Dean. Not if we stay up there. If you don’t want to go, I will. Maybe I can get help back in-“
“We’re doing this together or you’re staying. I can go and you-“
“We both go,” you said.
“I go first. You step where I step and if I tell you to do anything, you do it.”
“Dean. We already established that you’re not a hardass. You can lead the way but you know, nicely.”
“Alright, alright,” he said. He gave more slack in the rope attached to the two of you and took a deep breath. “Let’s go.”
He was calm for a few minutes until you were turning down a hallway, Dean suddenly stopping in front of you.
“What is it?” you asked.
“Look,” he said. You poked your head around him, swallowing at the rotted wood on the ground, holes worn into the planking. “Y/N that’s not good. Rot means there’s water and water means erosion and erosion means big shafts hundreds of feet straight down under those wood planks.”
“How much of it is wood?” you asked. You both looked ahead and sighed, the whole hall flooring covered in wood. “Shit.”
“Y/N. This is too dangerous. I’ve worked in mines since I was 18 and it’s way too dangerous.”
“Dean. I don’t want to die. If we don’t do anything, we’re dead in three days, maybe less.”
“Maybe they come up the decommissioned mine and get us,” he said.
“Dean. The mountain collapsed from what my dad said. They are not coming in here, risking even more lives, in this mine. It might even have collapsed on the other side on the way out. We don’t know. All we do know is we stay and we’re dead or we go and we’re maybe dead.”
“You still won’t let me go on ahead on my own to try to get some help?”
“You’re not leaving me alone,” you said. You stepped ahead and he yanked on the rope, pulling you back. “Dean. Stop.”
“I go first,” he said. You held up your hands and he swallowed, Dean stepping past you, carefully putting his weight down on each plank. “Follow. Every footstep exactly where mine go.”
You followed after, the only sounds your breathing and the occasional board creaking. Dean put a foot down and stopped moving forward when you heard snapping.
“Go back. Slowly.”
You stepped a foot backwards, putting weight on it and your foot going straight through. Dean grabbed your arm as you pulled your foot up, a few sticks falling into a deep dark pit.
“What do we do,” you breathed out.
“Well we’re over rock that fell away so there’s a big hole beneath us if the rotted wood is anything to go by,” he said. You heard the slight waiver in his voice and sighed. “We make a choice. Forwards or backwards.”
“Back looks bad. Plus we already probably broke the supports.”
“I think solid ground is in front. But I have to jump for it,” he said. You looked past him and shook your head.
“Dean, it's way too far. I can try to walk over there if you let out the rope. I get to solid ground and then you walk and if you fall, I got you with the rope.”
“Sweetheart, there’s no way.”
“You’re too heavy and we can’t stay here,” you said. You slipped past him and he tried to grab you but you went quickly. “Dean let out the rope. Now.”
“Fuck. We’re gonna die.”
“No we’re not,” you said, walking quickly, planks creaking but you sighed when you had solid rock under your feet again. “Alright. Just go where I did and fast.”
He took a deep breath and walked a few steps, a loud groaning of the wood making him move faster.
You hit the ground the second you saw him go down, the wood breaking away. Dean shouted and you dug your heels into the dirt.
“Y/N!” he said, falling straight down into a hole and out of view.

i miss kirby so it makes me sad to talk about him 😭 but know that i am willing to do whatever he wants. kirby can get it any day of the week. will be on my knees whenever wherever. thats all.

missed the part about being on your knees my bad
“i could get in a lot of trouble for this,” you glare at him as you push open the door to your dorm building. he strolls in, smirk prominent on his face as he drops a kiss to the top of your head. you point to the stairwell, “we’re taking those. they’re less noisy.”
“you won’t. andy loves me,” he smirks as he passes by, landing a sharp smack on your ass as he does so. you jump and shove him roughly which only causes him to chuckle as he follows you up the stairs.
“because you bribed him,” you roll your eyes as you make the trek up to your floor. he hovers behind you as you unlock the door to your dorm and you tense as he places a hand on your back, “can’t you wait until we’re inside at least?”
“i could,” his mouth drops to your ear, “but as soon as you opened that door i planned to be in between your legs. i mean, we could do that out here if you wanted-”
“there’s cameras,” your cheeks burn as you finally open the door and let him inside. “shoes, kirby! we go over this every single time.”
“yes ma’am,” he huffs as he kicks off his sneakers. his hands reach out for your hips and he pulls you forward so that your chest is pressed against his, “i missed you.”
“is that so?” you hum, “to me, it’s like i moved countries for someone and they’re avoiding me for two weeks.”
“avoiding you?” he raises an eyebrow and you send him a sly grin as you tug on the hair at the nape of his neck. “i just got back on the ice and you’ve had midterms. it’s been a crazy two weeks, but you know damn well i’d have you in my bed every night if i could.”
“and i would be there, if i could.”
“why can’t you?” it’s your turn to raise an eyebrow. you watch as he tosses his head back and sighs, staring up at your ceiling, “why can’t you be in my bed every night?”
“because, in case you missed it earlier, i moved countries to be here so i am required to stay in this dorm for at least one year. it’s just rules that we have to follow-” he snorts at the mention of ‘following rules’ considering that it was well after ten pm and he had no real business being in your room.
“what about next year though? when you’re not a freshman, what are you going to do then?”
“i’ve met some girls and we’ve kind of been bouncing around the idea of getting an apartment together. it’s just so fucking expensive though,” you huff and he squeezes your hips. you’ve known kirby long enough to know that by the way he was acting, there was something on his brain that he just wasn’t sharing with you. you poke at his cheek, “hey, no secrets, remember?”
“except for birthday presents,” he grins and you send him a look. he sighs, “can we sit down or something first?”
you huff as you let him pull you over to your bed and maneuver you so that he can lie down on top of you, resting his head on your stomach, “spill the beans, dach.”
“what if trying to say is, why don’t next season, semester, year, whatever, why don’t we get an apartment together. me and you?”
your mind goes blank for a minute. sure, you and kirby had been together for what felt like forever and you knew that he was your person, but living together? you were barely nineteen and him almost twenty. that added into the fact that between the two of you and knowing that he needed to be a reasonable distance from the rink and practice facilities, rent would not be cheap.
“in theory, that sounds fun kirb,” you sigh and he props his chin on top of his hand so that he can look at you, “i couldn’t afford an apartment for just two people, so it’s out of the question.”
“but i can,” he pouts.
“exactly, you can afford it and i can’t. i’m not living off of a professional athlete paycheck here, kirby, and i don’t want to rely on you either. that’s not why i’m with you.”
“i’m not your parents, y/n. you don’t have to prove that you’re not with me for the money. i know that,” he rolls his eyes when he mentions your parents and you swallow.
that was the thing, you and kirby had known each other since you were kids, but you didn’t get together until his last year in the whl. your parents, ever supportive, had made a point to question you on multiple occasions why you were even with kirby in the first place. they could not seem to fathom that you wanted to be with kirby for kirby and not the amount of money in his bank account. it may have also been a contributing factor as to why you close to come to chicago for school instead of staying in canada.
“if you’re worried about me paying for everything,” his hands slide under the loose fabric of your t-shirt, “i’m sure that we could work something out.”
“like what?” you mumble, holding your breath as his fingers slide over the bare skin of your abdomen before hooking in the waistband of your shorts.
“i don’t know,” he pushes up your shirt and pulls your shorts down just barely to place a kiss on the newly shown skin, “like i said, we can work something out.”
“kirb,” you whisper. you try to squeeze your legs closed and he chuckles, moving his hands to hold open your thighs, “please.”
“please what, princess?” he teases, running his thumbs just over the lace of your underwear. he looks up at you with his blue eyes shining mischievously, “you know that i won’t do anything unless you ask for it.”
and of course you knew that, so you comply quickly, “please touch me.”
he hums and finally, finally pulls your shorts and panties down in one go, tossing them somewhere in your dorm to be found later. he smirks at the sight before him and turns his head so that he can press a kiss to the inside of your thigh, mumbling against the skin, “i guess you did miss me.”
“obv-” you cut yourself off with a gasp as his thumb runs across your sensitive nub. he kisses down your thigh while you rest a hand in his messy hair. “were you wearing a hat earlier?”
he chuckles, warm breath fanning over your wet slit, “i was. why do you ask?”
“because your hair’s- fuck,” you breathe out as he licks a stripe upwards, sinking his tongue into you. you grip onto his hair as he gets to work, arching your back as he inserts a finger alongside his tongue.
you try to close your legs around his head, but he’s having none of it as he slaps a hand down on the skin and dogs his fingers into it. you moan as he does so, arching up into his mouth which only causes him to work harder.
you would say that you were embarrassed with how quickly he brought you to the brink, but you weren’t. kirby knew you almost as well as you knew yourself and if he wanted to prolong this, make you wait for a release, he knew exactly how to do it, but this obviously wasn’t one of those times.
he pulls his fingers out when your legs begin to shake, settling his thumb on your clit and applying just the right amount of pressure that made your stomach tighten. your permission to let go was given by his eyes connecting with yours and in an instant, your throwing your head back against the pillow and letting go.
he removes his thumb then, using both hands to hold your thighs open as he slurps you up. your chest heaves as he does so, whining when his lips wrap around your clit. you let him do as he pleased before shoving him away gently.
“i’m not an athlete, kirby. i need a minute to recover.” you shove his shoulder gently, cheeks burning at his eagerness as if it was the first time.
“what were you going to say about my hair earlier?” he pulls away from you, mouth glistening with the remains of your slick.
your chest rises and falls as you pull him towards you, “i was saying that’s it’s a fucking mess and i didn’t help at all.”

"Are you kidding me?" You muttered hurriedly under your breath, seeing your card decline for a second time. You clenched your jaw, it was the beginning of the month so your monthlies must have been billed that morning. You looked at the total on the screen and sighed.
'Note to self, get better at Speed,' you thought to yourself while thinking of the crushing fate that was Jeno dropping his last card on the pile before you. "I'm sorry, I thought my payday was yesterday, hold on, I'm sure I have cash in here somewhere," you dug through your wallet.
"If you don't have cash, I can pay for it for now, (Y/N)," Wooyoung looks over his shoulder to make sure none of his co-workers were watching. "The others won't know, you can just pay me back later."
"No, it's fine," you told him. You'd be damned if Wooyoung tapped into his paycheck for you again. He insisted that it was because of all of the times you saved his ass while you were both working on the field as Cheshire and Spades, but part of it just felt... wrong. "I swear I put a $20 in here somewhere..." you opened your wallet wider.
"I've got it," a voice behind you chirped and you turned quickly. Wearing a basic polo and jeans, part of him screamed danger to you. Maybe you were overthinking it, but every sensible part of you screamed danger, and you wondered if Wooyoung felt it too. You looked behind him but there was no line.
Or maybe it was just the scarf in 81°F weather.
"Oh, really, it's fine, I'm sorry for holding up the line" you shook your head, but his card was already in the reader.
"Add a large mocha latte to that for me," he smiles. You crossed your arms while he finalized the transaction. Wooyoung looked between him and you, and while the stranger's head was down he glanced at you.
"Do you know him?" He mouths. You shook his head and he raises an eyebrow, his mouth forming a small 'o' while he quickly gave a tight-lipped smile when the stranger looked up.
The stranger finished up the transaction and you laughed. You knew exactly what this was.
"Thanks, but no," you shook your head while you both walked to the pick-up table. He looks shocked.
"No what?"
"Just, no. I know what you're going to do next, and the answer is no."
"Well, I was just going to grab my latte and be on the way, nothing else," he shrugs. "Unless you want to do something? I'm free." Oh, he got you there, you walked right into that one.
"Should've seen that one coming," you mumbled. "No, I'm fine, I'm meeting a few of my friends in a moment, do you even know how many drinks you just bought?"
"Five, including mine."
"Were you listening to my order?"
"No, but I did see the drinks on the order screen," he says. "Plus, you can just pay me back later," he says.
"Oh, there's going to be a later?"
"I mean, you can just take a token of my generosity and we can never talk to each other again if you prefer that," he says. There was still something about him that raised red flags in your head, you couldn't describe it. But, then again, maybe red flag wasn't a good way to put it. There was this strange feeling of... familiarity, maybe that was the word. Had you seen him before? You secretly hoped that you could ask someone else discreetly.
"(Y/N)! My best friend!" Jeno and Giselle walked into the café and you waved them over. Talk about luck.
"Mocha Latte for (Y/N)!" Wooyoung shouts and places the drink on the counter.
"That's my cue, so long," the stranger waves goodbye, grabs the drink, and disappears.
"Who was that?" Giselle probes, watching the stranger leave. "You know him?"
"No, not at all," you shook your head. "But he bought all of our drinks."
"What?" Jeno looks around the glass windows to find the stranger. "Huh, you gonna pay him back?"
"I don't know if I can," you hummed.
"(Y/N)! Four coffees!" Wooyoung places the drinks in their holder. You walked up and grabbed onto the holder, but Wooyoung stopped you and pulled the coffees towards him. "I read his name on the card, I can give you his credit information so you can pay him back," he whispers quickly. You pull the holder towards you.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" You whispered back.
"A little, I forgot to take my meds today," he pulled the drinks towards him, "do you want his information or not?"
"How do you even remember his card?" You pulled the drinks.
"I have photographic memory," Wooyoung insists, pulling the drinks again. "You know what, forget it, I'll tell you anyway. His name's Choi San and his credit card number's-"
"Alright, alright, a name is all I need, Woo," you pulled the drinks towards you for the last time and swatted his hands away. "I'll come back tomorrow, I'm pretty sure he'll be here."
"I'll pick up a shift too, didn't he feel sketchy?"
"A little, yeah."
"What do they think?"
"Haven't asked, but I know that look on Giselle's face, she's probably going to ask me to get his number so she can call him."
"Yeah, probably, now go, go. And if he shows up any other time, I'll text you."
"Yeah, yeah," you took the drinks and walked to the normal table.
"Jisung's on his way!"
"You owe me another round of speed, I can't believe you beat me."

After Midnight Pt. 2 (Feysand)
This part is completely in Rhysand’s POV, which was kind of challenging because I don’t really like writing ~sexy stuff~ while attempting to think about what the hell men are thinking about. HA.
Part 1
_________________________________________________________
~Rhysand~
All week long, Feyre--the client--keeps creeping in my head, making it damn near impossible for me to focus on anything at work.
Her full bottom lip, the taste of her skin, the soft little moan she doesn’t believe is sexy.
It’s not all depraved, male thoughts, though. I wouldn’t worry so much if it was, because that would just be lust, and lust is easy to fix.
But I also think about her smile, her bright blue eyes.
I think about the panic that came over her and what might have happened to her to cause such a deep-rooted reaction like that.
I know it’s none of my business, but I want to know what happened to her. I want to help her be more confident, help her with her intimacy problems.
Shoving what’s probably just my savior complex down, I tell myself her problems don’t concern me.
She’s a paycheck.
A beautiful, intriguing paycheck that I can’t stop thinking about.
Fuck.
I don’t have time to change after working at the bar, so I head to the hotel in dark slacks and a white t-shirt. You can see my tattoos, but it isn’t too trashy, so I don’t think she’ll mind.
Some clients are extremely particular about what I wear.
Sometimes so particular I end up getting a new suit out of the arrangement.
Feyre doesn’t seem like the type, but I doubt she’ll hesitate me to tell me if she wants me to look a little more professional. The thought makes me smile.
Do not tell me what to do. Ever.
I love how angry she got, how she didn’t hesitate to tell me off when I started acting like a prick. Little hellion.
Even if I was tempted to do exactly what she told me not to. Because gods above, the urge to tell her to do something with that beautiful mouth besides yell at me was fucking overwhelming.
I’m going straight to hell.
Clenching my jaw, I attempt to not think anything perverted as I walk into the hotel bar and spot Feyre sipping a drink.
But I could clench that shit hard enough to break my teeth, and it still wouldn’t keep me from noticing the way her hair catches the light, the way her black tank top dips in the front to show off the smooth skin of her chest.
I’m a fucking professional, I scold myself as I march over. And it’s just a collarbone, for gods sake.
“Hello, Feyre,” I murmur, sliding into the stool next to her.
Cloudy sky eyes look over at me, and I could swear they drift over my outfit appreciatively, lingering on my tattoos. “Rhysand.”
Something about hearing my full name makes this feel extremely impersonal, so I say, “You can just call me Rhys.”
“Oh, okay.” She shrugs and pushes her empty glass away.
“Do you want to get another drink, or are we going upstairs?”
It’s fucked up how happy I get when she says the latter.
I need to stop thinking about her as a woman and start thinking about her like a wealthy client I need to please.
Except that pleasing her sounds like too good of an idea as I follow behind her, my eyes watching her ass.
Client or not, she has a really great ass.
Once we’re standing across from each other in the elevator, I deny myself further thoughts of her backside and ask, “How was your week?”
We’ve agreed to only meet Fridays at the same hotel room, so it’s a casual enough question.
“It was alright. I work at the art museum on fifth street, and we have an event coming up soon, so I’m planning it.”
I nod, finding it easy to picture her in a museum, talking passionately about some old, overpriced piece of art. “I didn’t know being a curator was such a well-paying job.”
“Oh, it’s not.” There’s a brief flash of sadness in her beautiful eyes as she says, “I used to be an artist.”
“But you’re not anymore?”
Obviously, you idiot. She just said that.
Feyre shakes her head, looking relieved as the elevator door bings open. We walk down the hall in silence, and then we’re in the room.
“Anything specific you want to do tonight?” I ask, leaning against the wall and watching as she throws her bag on the bed.
It’s a pretty standard question, but it seems to make her nervous. She starts pacing, then looks down and frowns at herself and stops. “Oh, um... well...”
It suddenly dawns on me that she has no idea, because she doesn’t know her boundaries anymore. The realization makes me both sad and pissed at whoever hurt her.
“We could just make out,” I offer, shrugging to let her know it’s up to her. “See where it goes.”
She bites her lip and flushes, looking so adorably embarrassed I grin. Apparently not able to say the words, she just nods.
I don’t want to scare her, so I avoid the bed and head to one of the cushy, wide chairs near the window. Her eyebrows go up a little, but she follows me over, then sits gingerly on my knee.
She’s literally in my lap, yet I can’t even kiss her she’s so far away.
“Feyre.”
“Yes?”
“Is this not okay?”
She shakes her head. “This is good.”
I grab her hips and drag her toward my chest, muttering, “Then come here, woman.”
She laughs, the sound light and surprised. “Sorry. This is just... isn’t this weird for you? I feel like I’m a terrible person for making you do this.”
Is she serious? Making me kiss her?
“You’re not forcing me to do anything, and you’re not a bad person for wanting to enjoy yourself. We’re just... exchanging goods.”
Her mouth drops open, and I laugh.
“Bad way to phrase that,” I admit, still grinning. “But no, it isn’t weird. You’re a beautiful woman, and I was being serious when I told you I could kiss you all night.”
To keep her from arguing, I lean up and press my lips against hers. Her breath hitches, so I kiss her again, just a faint touch of my lips against hers.
Feyre’s sitting on me sideways, but when I wrap my arms around her, she leans into my chest. And then she starts kissing me back.
Her arms go around my shoulders, hands in my hair, and the position makes her breasts press against my chest. It’s a new, torturous distraction, made sweeter by the fact that I know she isn’t even doing it on purpose.
Everything about her is naturally sexy. She doesn’t have to try, and I can tell she’s just enjoying herself, not trying to put on a show.
One of my hands is on her back, the other is on her thigh, sliding up until the smooth curve of her hip fills my palm. I'm in the process of squeezing her closer when she pulls back abruptly.
I track her face for any sight of panic, but she’s completely calm as she shifts to straddle my waist, knees on the chair at either side of my hips.
Almost automatically, my hands fall to her backside and drag her forward until we’re flush together. Feyre gasps, and then her mouth is moving against mine in a more frantic pace.
I love knowing I’m getting to her like she is to me. I love the fact that she’s breathing heavily as I move to kiss my way down her throat. I love the little sound she makes when I suck on the place between her shoulder and neck.
I love that she can’t stay still, even if the little movements of her hips are slowly driving me insane.
Her hands tug on my hair, tilting my head back, and then she’s leaning away slightly. And blushing.
Which means she wants something else.
I raise an eyebrow.
“Would you mind taking your shirt off?”
My stupid lips won’t stop twitching at how polite she is. The urge to tease her about it rises, but I ignore it and drag my shirt over my head, then throw it on the floor behind her.
Watching her attempt to not look down is probably one of the best moments of my entire life.
Her eyes flit from mine to my chest, then to my abs, then back to my face.
I’ve grown used to women treating my like an object, and it’s adorable to watch her try to be so respectful.
“Pervert,” I tease when her eyes dip once again.
Feyre laughs softly, even as her fingertips start to glide over my skin, causing my muscles to go tight. She traces the lines of my tattoos across my chest, following them down my arms.
On a seduction scale of one to ten, it’s about a three.
And yet, my body reacts without question, heat flooding into my crotch like lightening.
Her gaze snaps up to mine and I offer an apologetic smile. Eyes wide, she practically jumps backward off my lap, standing in front of me and looking anywhere except my face.
And to be honest, I’m a little confused.
I was pretty sure my job description included having sex or some kind, and since she hired me, I’d figured that would come around sooner or later. So why is she so surprised I get an erection?
Especially when she puts that cute behind in my lap and kisses me stupid and puts her hands all over me?
Before I can ask, she says, “I’m going to take a shower.”
Out of everything I expected her to say, that didn’t make the list, but I still reply, “Okay.”
Only she doesn’t take a single step towards the bathroom. And after another long moment of silence, she murmurs, “I would like if you joined.”
Oh.
That I understand.
Smiling like a complete jackass, I nod and get up, following her to the posh bathroom. She reaches in and turns the shower on, then turns to me and shocks me yet again. “Turn around, please.”
“I thought I was joining you.”
“You are.”
I run a hand through my hair, trying not to laugh again. “Well unless we’re showing in our clothes, I’m going to see you naked at some point.”
“I’m aware of that,” she says sourly, hands on her hips. “But I can’t undress with you watching.”
Sighing, I turn around, not pointing out that the massive mirror next to us makes this entire request pointless. But I want to make her feel comfortable, so I close my eyes for safe measure. The sound of rustling fabric fills the silence, then the shower door opens and she says, “You can, um, turn around now.”
I do, then immediately regret it.
Because if Feyre in her clothes was alluring and sexy and beautiful, Feyre naked is downright sinful. I mutter a curse and she raises and eyebrow, but I’m too busy thinking about anything except what’s in front of me to care.
Which is pretty impossible, considering the sight of her tilting her head back and allowing water to run down her body is something no man could ever ignore.
I watch the water track all the way down to her toes, then slowly force my eyes back up.
Remembering I’m here for a job and am getting paid and that I should not be enjoying this, I quickly undress and step into the shower.
Standing close enough our breath mixes, we just stare at each other for another moment. And it’s just when I’m sure she’s about to tell me what she wants that she finally speaks.
“I don’t think I can have sex with you,” she whispers, shooting my happiness straight in the face.
She sure as shit seemed like she could a minute ago. Is seeing me naked changing that or something?
“Oh,” I say, looking down at myself in confusion. “That’s... embarrassing.”
“Oh gods! I didn’t mean it like that! This is so embarrassing. You’re.... I obviously find you attractive enough.” I look back up, and she has both hands over her face. “I mean that I can’t have sex with you tonight. I’m kind of freaking out a little, and I don’t particularly want to have another panic attack.”
Pride and manhood back in order, I reach out and gently pry her hands off her face. “It’s okay. I get it. You’re in charge, remember? Anything you want, nothing you don’t.”
She looks down at the part of my body that is most definitely ready for some action, then back up. “I’m sorry.”
Yeah, this’ll definitely suck, but it isn’t her fault. “So you just want to shower and stare at each other, then?”
Instead of answering, she kisses me. Apparently not.
Smiling against her, I pull her closer, causing our chests to collide in a slippery, intoxicating way.
Feyre eventually answers the question of what she wants when her hand takes mine and slides it down her stomach, then further.
“Will you-”
She cuts herself off as I make circles with my thumb slowly, sucking on her bottom lip at the same time. “Yes,” I murmur back.
And because I have the feeling this is all we’ll do tonight, I’m determined to make it enough. More than enough.
I nudge her feet further apart with mine and kiss her deeply as I slide a finger down her center, then push it inside, making sure to keep my thumb moving slowly.
She moans, and I have to close my mouth to keep myself from mimicking the sound because holy hell she’s...
If she feels this good against my hand, I almost don’t want to know how she’ll feel against other parts of me. The fact that sex with her is even a potential possibility tells me I’m the luckiest bastard in the world.
Her head falls forward against my chest, but I slide a hand in her damp hair and tilt it back far enough to allow access to her throat.
I don’t move lower, even though I’m dying to, because I want everything we do to be her idea.
“Rhys,” she groans, hips following the rhythm set by my hand.
She’s a client, she’s a client, she’s a client.
My name falls off her lips again, and it’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard, so I move back to her mouth and attempt to eat it.
Her hands once again explore my shoulders and chest and abs, and I’m not sure which of us she’s trying to get off because I’m fucking addicted to her touch.
I pull on her lower lip with my teeth as I add another finger, and she makes a helpless little sound that does my sanity absolutely no favors.
All I can think about is how I want to drive her crazy. I want her to fall apart in my arms. I want to make her feel so good she goes weak in the knees.
I slow my rhythm down until she whimpers, hips moving restlessly, then flick my thumb over where it’d been busy drawing circles and push it down roughly.
Knowing it’ll be enough, I open my eyes to watch as she comes. And it’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen, hands down.
Her cheeks flush, eyes press shut, and lips open to let out a low moan that goes straight to my dick. Her entire body is tight, then she goes loose in my arms, leaning heavily against me.
Bright blue eyes peer up at me and watch as I bring my hand up and pull a finger into my mouth. I can’t help it, really.
And I definitely don’t regret it, because the taste of her on my tongue is enough to make my blood thrum.
I release it with a pop, then smirk down at her flushed face.
“Um, thank you.”
Unable to keep my hands to myself, I sweep her hair back and smile. “It was my pleasure, really.”
She rolls her eyes, then catches sight of what’s between us. “Are you going to be okay?”
Unless you count the fact that my balls will hurt like hell for a few hours. “I’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure?” She reaches out a hand. “I can-”
Pushing her hand away gently, I tell her, “I don’t want you to touch me. Unless you want to.”
The last fucking thing I want to do is make her feel pressured to do something she doesn’t want to. I have a feeling that’s the reason she has “problems with intimacy” like she said.
Feyre takes a step back, ignoring the shower spray directly in the back of her head. There’s a strange look on her face. If I didn’t know better, I’d say she was... embarrassed. “You don’t want me to touch you?”
Ah, fuck.
“No. I mean, yes. I mean-” I take a deep breath and tell myself how much of an idiot I am. “I didn’t mean it like that. I definitely don’t mind you touching me. I just don’t want you to feel pressured into anything.”
She raises a brow, so I keep going. “I mean, you said you have problems with intimacy. I’m here to help, not make them worse by demanding you jerk me off in the shower.”
I have a way with words, honestly.
Slapping a hand on my forehead, I mutter, “None of this is coming out right.”
But Feyre ignores that and laughs. Really laughs, for the first time. It’s a full, loud laugh that makes me chuckle, too. Her laugh’s the best thing I’ve ever heard, even if it is at my expense.
“I believe you,” she finally says when she stops giggling. “Thank you. You’re a good person.”
I roll my eyes because that’s the last thing I am. “We should probably get out of the shower.”
She nods and cuts the water off, reaching to grab us towels. Once we’ve dried off, we both start pulling our clothes on.
Normally, I rush through this part. Clients are usually either awkward or much too affectionate towards the end, and it’s a miracle to get out the door.
But with Feyre, I find myself taking my time as I pull my jeans and shirt back on. And I find myself watching as she does the same.
“I want to talk to you about next week.”
Something about her voice makes me a little nervous, but I still say, “Shoot.”
“My therapist suggested that I try ‘normal things’ to ease back into intimacy. Hence the shower. Before tonight, I hadn’t seen a man naked in over a year.”
“Okay...”
I have no idea where she’s going with this.
“I would like to ask you to stay the night next week,” she says quickly, like the words themselves make her nervous.
“What do you mean?”
She honestly looks like she might pass out as she murmurs, “I’d like you to.... sleep here. It won’t be sexual, but I am willing to pay you more if you want.”
My mind starts running a bit wild with that. She wants me to stay the entire night--something I never, ever do--but doesn’t want sex out of it? Why would that be something that makes her this nervous?
“You just want to sleep in the same bed?”
There’s a pause where I swear she’s going to say no. “Yes.”
I think back to what she told me a week ago. I have problems trusting men.
It makes sense, I guess. She trusts me enough this’ll be a challenge, something that pushes her boundaries enough to get her to open up.
“Okay,” I agree eventually.
“Really?”
“I’ll bring my jammies,” I joke, relieved when she cracks a small smile.
I know why she’s nervous, but I have no clue as to why I suddenly feel like next Friday is the biggest night of my life.
Pushing those feelings away, I finish getting dressed, kiss her on the cheek, and head for the door.
Turning back, I smile and say, “I’ll see you Friday for our slumber party.”
I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember, one way or another.

Things I’ve Learned That you Should Too
If your gut tells you not to trust someone, don’t. There’s something to that. People need to learn to trust their feelings more.
Just because you love someone does not mean that you should allow them to get away with more. Yes, you should be patient with them and help them to understand how they hurt you, but do not sit around and take abuse.
If someone is truly sorry for hurting you, they will change their behavior. If they just verbally apologize and then continue to repeat said actions, they’re not sorry, they’re just sorry that they got caught.
Is life expensive? YES. Learn how to budget your money. Start saving before you move out. Look into programs you qualify for. Look into the stock market. Buy the cheap used car as long as it works. Life sucks, things are expensive. I understand that some people have NOTHING or that they are living paycheck to paycheck. But if you are in a position to save something, DO IT. Even just putting aside 10 dollars from each paycheck starts to add up after a while. ANYTHING.
On the same note, DO NOT TAKE OUT LOANS YOU CANNOT PAY BACK. This can WRECK your credit score and can really come back to haunt you. If you are in a position where you need the loan to survive, that’s different. Don’t however, take out the loan when you’re not ready for a brand new car or a house.
Trying to keep things constant is dangerous. People were not meant to live out the same patterns their entire lives. People change, relationships change, jobs change, living situations change. That’s how it’s supposed to be. No one is supposed to remain stagnant.
If you see someone being fake to other people, they’re being fake with you.
Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. You have to focus on YOU. Unless that person is paying your bills or sleeping in your bed, their opinion of you means NOTHING. And worrying about it will only waste the time that you could be spending to better yourself. That time could be spent taking an extra class, exercising, reading a book, journaling, talking to people that you actually care about.
