Every time I think of twst next gen and think of characters based on the Decedents character, I remember first seeing the second and third movie and finding out that Mall (daughter of Maleficent) and Uma (Daughter of Ursula) had beef before the events of the movie.

And it's like playground beef that escalated through their childhood. Mall even nicknamed Uma "Shrimpy" so thinking about how Malleus's kid and Azul's kid would interact is fucking funny to me. So their whole dynamic is similar to Leona's and Malleus's.

This is even funnier because I thought of Leona's kid being bff's with Malleus's kid (Kinda like how Mal and Ben or like Kovu and Kiara)

*She has not yet discovered her UM yet- but she has mastered a magical skill she considers the closest thing to a signature spell. Vitani is a master in Maui Thai and uses magic to harden and speed up her bone's micro fractures and calcification, making her skeletal system stronger than steel and using magic to reverse it in seconds

Kovu Mahlangu- Heir to the Mahlangu tribe, heir to the badlands, and Zira's favorite child. Kovu has been groomed ever since he was a baby to his mother's heir and to get justice for his aunt... no matter what.

When your parents heard what a prize their little cub had managed to catch in her paws they just HAD to come and see it themself...!

Leona being a real royalty opens so many doors to Scar and Zira, but your parents quickly lose interest because Leona is just the second child and not heir apparent so he gets nothing.

To your dismay, they are quick to once again judge your choices.

"My darling daughter. So eager to please her beloved parents." Zira, your mother purred as she walked around your seated body like a lioness prowling its prey. "Shame that she keeps failing..."

"Mom..." You mumbled in shame and Scar, your father sat opposite of you, "My daughter, you had so much potential and you're throwing it all away for the second child?"

"Why couldn't you date his older brother? Why settle for the second best when you could have a real King?" Zira asked as she sauntered back to her husband's side she rarely left.

"Falena? But he has a wife and a child!" You exclaimed in distress, but they barely registered how upset you were.

"Pity. If you flaunted your goods more then maybe you could have gotten him instead of Laina."

"His name is Leona and I love him!"

"Life's not fair, is it?" Scar chuckled and you felt tears rising to your eyes and you quickly rubbed them away. "Can't you be happy for me...?"

"Oh, spare us the pity tears." Zira rolled her eyes hard and you felt like crying out loud, but you held your feelings in, knowing they would do you no good against your parents.

"It's barely our fault you keep disappointing us over and over. We didn't put you in this school to settle for the second best. You understand that, don't you dearest?" Scar asked, using the false sweetness when calling you dearest.

You wanted to cry and object, but you knew that the consequences would be severe. They could pull you out of the College and separate you and Leona for good.

While you tried to hold in the tears, your parents decided it was time for them to leave. As they got ready to leave, you glanced at your siblings who were until now standing on the side, watching and listening, but not interfering with your talk with your parents.

You stepped to open the door and held it open as your parents walked past you with final words of goodbyes. "Next time we meet, you better not disappoint us."

You nodded humbly and your brothers and sister passed by you.

"See ya, sis! Better luck next time!" Nuka cackled maliciously as he passed you, quickly following your parents' steps.

Vitani gave you an apologetic look, but that's where her help started and ended as she followed Nuka out of your dorm room.

Last but not least, Kovu stopped and gave you a hug when others weren't looking.

"Sorry that you have to go through this sis..." He mumbled quietly and you returned his hug. "It's okay... We can't choose our parents..."

Kovu patted you on the back and smiled when the two of you pulled apart.

"Don't give up on love." He said and your lower lip quivered as you tried your hardest not to cry as you smiled and nodded, "Thanks bro."

"Anything for you sis." He nodded before leaving and you shut your door behind him. You sighed before throwing yourself into your bed and burying your face into your pillow.

What a birthday.

Ok so I have a question. I want to know what everyone’s headcanon is regarding how Leona got his scar because I think about this A LOT. I'm almost caught up to the Eng version but chapters 6 and 7 haven't come out in English yet so if there was a scar backstory reveal, I never knew.

I read one fic where Leona had gotten his scar due to a servant throwing a glass at his face (forgot the name of the fic but if I find it I will share. It was very good). I think there was another one where Leona had gotten it in a failed assassination attempt I think?

I know that Leona was inspired after Scar and is not Scar exactly but I have to wonder if he got his scar the same way Scar got his or maybe even the way Kovu got his scar.

In case you didn't know, Scar or Askari (his real name) got his scar due to being bitten by a snake. The venom messed him up and began to corrupt his mind, only making the jealousy he felt toward Mufasa grow.

In the Live Action Lion King, it is hinted that Scar got his scar from a fight with Mufasa and Mufasa had given it to him.

Kovu (in case you didn't know he isn't related to Scar by blood but he was picked to be his successor) got his scar from his mother. His mother in a fit of rage gave it to him after blaming his brother’s death on him.

A lot to take in and A LOT of lore but I'm the type of person who loves deep lore LOL

But what are your thoughts on how Leona got his scar? I would love to hear about them!

Like Heartslabyul feels different, Pomfiore is all "what is happening", Diasmonia is hotter somehow, and Scarabia is different in a sense cause Kalim seemed to maybe have been a TWST Aladdin than the Sultan he is Second: THE COLOR THEMESE ARE MORE OR LESS THE SAME BUT WHAT IS MALLEUS'-

Third: MALLEUS FUCKING DRACONIA LOOKS WAY DIFFERENT WHAT THE HELL DISNEY WHY DOES HE HAVE A WHIP, WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE HE'S A SASSY BRAT, WHY DOES HE LOOK BETTER???

Whoops, so these guys would not leave my mind, so help me seven. The only thing I couldn't come up with was the name of the dorms.

Andrew "Andy" Lovington: Dorm leader of RSA Hearts adj, Based on "Alice", Short blond hair with a blue headband, blue eyes, kind but a little ditzy, 2nd year. Unique Magic: "Looking Glass" - Makes a mirror that can hide someone or multiple people in it, they must keep quiet or to a low speaking voice or else the people outside the mirror will hear them.

Bigsy "Hatley" McGee: Vice dorm leader of RSA Hearts adj, based on "Mad Hatter", Black, long light brown hair tied back in a ponytail, wears a green top hat, Grey eyes, mysterious and a bit strange, 2nd year, calls Yuu "Love." Unique Magic: "Tea Time" - Halts time for an hour, can't exceed time limit or he blacks out.

Sissel Kingscholar: Dorm leader of RSA Savana adj, based on "Kovu", Lion beastman, Cousin to Leona, long darker brown hair that has a few braids in it, scar over his eye, yellow eyes, kind but nervous, 2nd year, first year as a dorm leader. Unique Magic: "Lion's Light" - Brings an area into a bountiful lagoon.

Pine Voiser: Vice dorm leader of RSA Savana adj, based on "Maximus", horse beastman, medium length white hair, olive eyes, stoic but a gentleman, 2nd year. Unique Magic: "Captain's Orders" - Gives orders to whoever is in the area of effect.

Nanu Coulette: Vice Dorm leader of RSA Octa adj, based on "Lilo", Long black hair, TWST equivalent of being Hawaiian, warm brown eyes, Extremely kind and goofy, 2nd year. Unique Magic: "Through my eyes" - Is able to see and talk through his scrump doll, can't use magic through the doll.

Riley Nights: Dorm leader of RSA Scarabia adj, based on "Aladdin", short brown hair, tan, friendly yellow eyes, Magicless, very kind and friendly, 2nd year.

Jahzi Al-Asim: Vice dorm leader of RSA Scarabia adj, based on "Jasmine", long brown hair, red eyes, generous and kind (except to Jamil), 2nd year. Unique Magic: "Tiger's eye" - Calms down anyone he casts the spell on, must be looking into his eyes.

Grooves Heights: Dorm leader of RSA Igni adj, Fae, based on "Hercules", medium blond hair, black, vibrant green eyes, nerdy and bubbly, 3rd year, Twin Brother: Lute. Unique Magic: "Olympus' Might" - Grants super strength and durability for a limited time or until he cancels it.

Lute Heights: Vice dorm leader of RSA Igni adj, Fae, based on Hercules' Pegasus, medium blond hair, black, vibrant orange eyes, smooth and dorky, 3rd year, Twin Brother: Grooves. Unique Magic: "Hero's Flight" - Manifest wings to fly around, wings are strong enough to carry people.

Prince Phara: Dorm leader of RSA Dia adj, based on "Prince Philip", short silver hair, keeps a sword at his waist at all times, very gentlemanly and regal, brown eyes, 3rd year, Magicless.

Randolph "Ram": Vice dorm leader of RSA Dia adj, based on "Beast", Ox beastman, large man, long and messy brown hair, Black, short and blunt, stormy gray eyes, 3rd year. Unique Magic: "Hollow Stealth" - Grants the user stealth for a few mins

I had a dream the other night where something had taken over NRC and they had robots that were like some magical armor on or something and basically threw the whole school into lockdown by locking everyone up in their dorms. Yuu and Grim we're the only ones not locked up so they basically had to escape and make it to RSA for some back up. They met the RSA dorm leaders too but that's where my dream ended cause my brain couldn't come up with who was leading the Savanaclaw equivalent dorm. Since logically it would've been Simba, but Simba in TWST is Cheka. Part of me thinks it would've been like a kovu like character, someone coming from nearly the same background as Leona but they changed their life around to be welcomed into RSA instead of going to NRC

Maybe I can see that. I'm trying to think of other animal characters that could possibly be RSA equivalents, but the only one that comes to mind rn is Kenai from Brother Bear, but I don't think that would fit, so idk.

My take on a Lyonell Zira is an OC Twisted from Kovu from the Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride

Really wanted to take some of the things about Kovu and put it in Lyonell.  Like Kovu resembles Scar, Lyonell resembles Leona. I placed him in Royal Sword Academy since by the end of the movie. Kovu ends up being on Simba’s side

A Lion Beastman that looks has a striking resemblance to the Second Born Prince of The Sunset Savana.

Bio:  To be an illegitimate child of the Kingscholar family–albeit not closely related to the branch that ruled the kingdom–was a shadow that Lyonell had to live with as he grew up.

At a young age, he and his mother moved to the Outlands to flee the gaze of the noble court, as well as for the protection of the very ‘family’ he was supposed to belong to. From there, Lyonell quickly learned that ‘Upendi’ was not meant to last between a noble and a maid, and while he was virtuous and diligent by nature, the boy was shrewd when it came to matters concerning status and authority.

Lyonell was a reluctant addition to Royal Sword Academy; he didn’t view its prestige as a good thing, especially with the knowledge that Leona of all people attended its rival school. However, his family was adamant that he needed a change of environment, and in hindsight, that couldn’t have been truer.

If Lyonell had not attended that school and met who he had, he may have been a significantly unhappier version of himself. There, the boy entered with the intention of blending into the background, but had his talents noticed by the captain of the Magift club. He’d wanted to keep to himself, yet attracted friends and admirers alike from his achievements.

The beastman disliked this at first, but eventually grew to realize that the attention he was receiving was not one based off appearances or rumours, but instead the result of his own actions and skill.

From that day onwards, Lyonell began to gain pride for the things he did. He also found that he quite liked the view of the sunset from his dorm room, for it reminded him of his home. It could be said that the lion found another family at the academy as well–though if prodded about it, Lyonell would simply roll his eyes and deny it with the subtlest of smiles.

time for another rambling post from me, this time about: leona’s speech patterns and how i diverge from or hybridize the en release and fan translations. i’ve been sitting on this one for a while and finally took the time to write it all out now that i’m on my laptop again...

i want to start by saying that i don’t hate the way leona’s dialogue was translated when it comes to wording. it’s far from perfect, but i have a lot more gripes with the things he says than how he says them ( see: cutting out him comparing jack to his brother and projecting the complex he has with falena onto jack to instead make him seem even more like he has an inferiority complex that he doesn’t actually have ). i don’t hate the crass way of speaking because i think it’s deliberate on his part. his speech patterns are a manifestation of his defeatism and his tendency to give people what they expect of him — much like his unwillingness to do anything because in his eyes no one expects him to do anything that matters. people expect him to be brutish and rude and crass, so he is.

that said, what is lacking from how he’s written is that he is formally educated and he does know how to speak all pristine and proper. we’ve seen him do it in a horrible boring way like in his valentine’s note, and we’ve also seen him have a way with words to inspire and rile up those around him. this is why i was very pleased with the translation of his little tagline on the en website: life simply ain’t fair. don’t you agree?? the use of simply and don’t you agree evokes that more formal speech of his royal upbringing while the use of ain’t pulls in the crass nature of the attitude and way of life he’s accepted for himself because he has nothing else.

unfortunately the rest of the official translation dropped the ball on that concept with the apparent lack of creativity and deep thought that pervades the entire thing, but ——— the little hint of that blend of speaking styles stuck out to me as something i loved instantly.

and that’s what i aim for. it’s true that scar was only ever eloquent, but he was also british despite being a lion in east africa in an adaptation of a play that originally takes place in denmark. besides: twst characters are not meant to be 1:1 representations of those they are based on. leona isn’t just scar or just kovu or just rapunzel; he has notes of their issues and their strengths and is his own unique character from those. he can absolutely motivate people just as well as scar motivated the hyenas, but leona’s life has worn him down and his defeatism has won out over his stubbornness several times. it’s fun to watch the two different styles blend because it’s very him: the crass asshole and the prince, the athlete and the bookworm, the arrogant bastard and the hurt child.

leona is a character of so many different conflicts that, on paper, should not be able to coexist — fragile of ego and horribly egotistic — and it’s very fun for the way he talks to be another example of that.
