I forgot to set my alarm for this stream, so I'm watching from the beginning, but Joe (and gang) was talking about their journey from when they started content creation and now. They were talking about their first editing programs and first videos, and then Joe started talking about how content creation wasn't seen as a viable job at the time; more of a 'hobbyist' thing, in their words, and that it was practically impossible to see someone creating content as a serious job.

Joe talks about how people don't understand the shift from the hobbyist to viable job and says something like this: "Right now, anything worth doing is worth overdoing, but back then, anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. That's why I have my craft streams with Cleo; to show that it's ok to just get yourself out there."

Things have changed a lot since 2008, but it's definitely nice to be able to sustain yourself on something you love.

You know, I just watched about 10 minutes of that dumb "documentary." I think those who try to keep bringing up the "sleaze and scandal" parts of Elvis's romantic life (such as him dating people like Cilla, Sandy Ferra and (supposedly) Jackie Rowland when they were 14, never mind the fact he never went past kissing with the last two and didn't sleep with Cilla until after their wedding), keep forgetting one thing: THIS WAS DURING THE 1950s-70s!

I mean, heck, Scotty Moore even said in his book that back then (especially where E grew up) it was considered perfectly normal for there to be large age gaps in relationships and for older men to date teen girls. My grandmother married at 16. Loretta Lynn married at 14. Grandma even said she knew girls who 'went steady' with their boyfriends at age 14 and later dropped out of school to get married. Today this is considered morally wrong (as it should be) but BACK THEN IT WAS NOT! And that's something these tabloid writers (including Alanna Nash) just don't seem to get.

Simply put, times and social norms were much different then. Morality has evolved considerably since then. I don't say this to excuse the behavior, but more to give an explanation of the situation to some of the other anons. Just remember: It's easy to make something look scandalous when it's taken out of context, either socially or otherwise. So seriously, Nash: stop blaming E for being a product of his time.

Okay, rant over. Just needed to get that out of my system.

I'm not one of those "gen one-er the only bits of the anime that were good were the first few seasons" types but did they really make Ash less of an asshole??? That was literally the BEST thing about him???
