Late October
Beep Beep Beep
Ugh. Another shit start to your day with shit sleep as per usual. Running your own bakery means a lot of early mornings. Normally you don’t mind waking up early since you love what you do. You bought a new house on Magnolia Drive eight months ago which made your commute to the bakery much shorter. However… Your realtor neglected to tell you that it came with the worst neighbor on the face of the Earth. His name is Frankie and you can’t stand him. When you first moved in, he seemed normal, an ex-military, single guy living on his own. The deception didn’t last long, though. Because after about two weeks of living next to him, the shitstorm commenced. And now you wished you picked literally any other house in this city. His friends are at his house all the time, one of them always blocking your driveway with their pickup truck. They stay until at least four in the morning, blasting music when Frankie knows you have to work early the next day. He’s probably the worst neighbor in the entire state of Florida.
You’re getting in your car to start your morning commute for work when Frankie is grabbing the morning paper from his mailbox. You physically recoil when you see him. There’s a harsh line of demarcation separating your lawn from his because he cuts his grass once in a blue moon. It’s such an eyesore.
“Have you thought about, I don’t know, cutting your lawn?” you ask before shutting your car door.
He shoots you the middle finger and mouths something you can’t hear. You roll down the window for him to take a few steps closer to your car and repeat, “Stop feeding the fucking stray cats.”
Okay, maybe you aren’t the perfect neighbor either. But doesn’t he deserve it anyway?
“Bite me,” you respond, rolling your eyes and backing out of your driveway.
He rolls his eyes, too, and storms off. You giggle to yourself, feeling proud that you got a rise out of him. If he’s going to piss you off the least you could do is return the favor.
-
Work is fine, a little busier than normal. But the afternoon exhaustion is hitting. You can’t wait to go home, take a shower, and maybe get some sleep before Frankie’s friends come over. It’s Friday and they’ll be even more unruly than they normally are during the week. Don’t they have lives? Or like… a fucking family to go home to?? Probably not if they’re hanging out with the likes of him.
But alas, it’s finally time to go home. You close up the bakery and get in your car to drive back, excited to just melt into the couch for a few hours. As you turn onto your street you see that Frankie’s driveway is empty, for now, that is. He’s not outside, either. So that means you get to just slip inside your house without a hostile interaction for once. Score!
You pull into your driveway, get out of your car, and start walking towards your front door when a disgruntled voice stops you dead in your tracks.
“Hey!”
Not again.
“What do you want now?” you say, whipping around and using the bitchiest voice you can muster.
“Cut your fucking tree,” Frankie says, holding up a lemon.
…Is he fucking for real?
You have a lemon tree at the edge of your backyard and a few branches hang over the fence and into Frankie’s yard. You never thought to trim it because you assumed you were doing something nice for him, letting him have some of the lemons. But no, apparently he wants to complain about free fruit.
“You’re complaining about… free fruit?”
He stutters a bit, tripping on his words as if he just realized how stupid he sounds.
“I guess not.”
“That’s what I thought,” you say, turning and heading into your house.
The fucking nerve of that man.
The rest of the night is pretty uneventful aside from a bitter man complaining about free fruit. You hear Frankie’s friends next door and grumble to yourself. How do they have the energy to party every single day of the week? You turn in early and do your best to ignore how loud they are, getting ready for another busy day at the bakery. Tomorrow’s Saturday, the busiest day of the week, and you need to be well rested. Well rested as you can be with all the noise from next door.
-
The morning’s been typical so far; wake up feeling exhausted, argue with Frankie in the driveway, drive to work, open the bakery; and the usual stuff. It isn’t until halfway through your business hours that something… interesting happens. A woman enters the shop and browses the cakes in your display case.
“I’d like to get some writing on a cake.”
“Sure! Which one would you like?”
“That one,” she says, pointing to one on the bottom, a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberries in the middle.
“Okay,” you say, grabbing it out of the case and taking it to your decorating table, “What would you like it to say?”
“Well, it’s for my boyfriend, Frankie so I’d like it to say “Happy birthday, Franklin” with a fish. I guess his nickname was catfish in the military.”
You know for a fact this is for Frankie because of the nickname. You’ve heard his friends screaming it next door when they’re drunk. But you also know for a fact his name is not Franklin, it’s Francisco. You didn’t have to ask him or anything, Amazon has delivered some of his packages to your house in the past by mistake. So this is fucking hilarious.
“Any specific color for the writing?” you ask, stifling a chuckle.
“Black is fine.”
You get to work on the writing and have mixed feelings. It’s kinda shitty that his own girlfriend doesn’t know his full name. And it’s also shitty that he’s going to have a birthday cake at his party with the wrong name on it. You should feel bad but… Nah, this guy sucks.
You glance over at his girlfriend before moving on to the fish. Although she clearly doesn’t know her boyfriend that well at all, you can’t deny that she’s beautiful. And all of a sudden you’re feeling… jealous? Wait, why are you getting jealous of her? For a guy you can’t even stand?
You gotta finish decorating this cake and get her out of here so you can try to deal with your conflicting feelings. You package the cake back up and walk it to the counter to cash her out.
“Okay, your total is fifty-three forty-nine. Cash or card?”
“Card,” she says, tapping it on the counter.
The receipt prints out of the machine for her to sign but before you hand it to her you look at the name printed on the bottom; Heather Ryan.
“Okay, just need your signature and then you’re all set!”
She signs her name on the receipt and slides it back to you.
“It looks great! Thank you so much!” she says before grabbing the cake and leaving.
Now that she’s gone you can process your weird and sudden emotions. You didn’t know he had a girlfriend and to be honest, it kind of surprises you that he has one in the first place considering his… lifestyle. But why are you jealous? He’s the worst.
Although… When you first moved in, you did think he was kinda cute before he showed his true colors. He got you with his curly brown hair peeking out underneath his hat but the attraction didn’t last long. Once his antic began, the attraction dissipated.
…Or so you thought.
Stop it, you tell yourself. He has made your life hell for the better part of a year.
You bury down your weird and confusing feelings for now, trying to continue the rest of the day as normal. The rest of the day is pretty uneventful and soon enough five o’clock rolls around. Just as you’re locking up the bakery, you get a text from your friend, Ally.
Hey, bestieee!! Drinks tonight?
You know what, why not?
You respond with:
Oooh, what time and where?
You get in your car and drive home, excited to have something to look forward to tonight. And at least you’ll be gone for some of Frankie’s antics. As you pull into your driveway you notice his friends aren’t there yet, all the better for you. You  check your phone and Ally says;
7:30. Let’s go to the Harp tonight!! I’ll meet you there.
She’s referring to a bar downtown but to you, it honestly doesn’t matter where you go. You need to blow off some steam and work through your weird feelings with your friend, get her opinion on this random burst of jealousy you’re feeling.
You take a shower, change into a skirt and fitted tee, and do your makeup before getting ready to leave. Just to find one of Frankie’s friends blocking your driveway, of course. Why wouldn’t they do this shit on the one night you have plans?
Nah, this isn’t going to fly. You gotta say something. You march right over to his door and judging by the noise coming from inside, his birthday party is tonight. Alright, maybe you won’t be a huge bitch about this right now. Especially when you know how his birthday cake turned out…
You knock and someone other than Frankie answers the door. You recognize him as one of Frankie’s friends but you can put a name to his face.
“Oh, shit! Neighbor girl is here!” he says, calling out to Frankie over his shoulder.
Before you can ask him about the truck blocking your driveway he says, “I’m Benny. Come on in!”
Yeah, he’s clearly drunk. Whatever this will be quick. You reluctantly step inside and look around. You’ve never actually been inside Frankie’s house before. It’s honestly nicer than you expected considering his lifestyle and the way he keeps his lawn. You’re standing in his living room with Frankie and three other men. You’re feeling anxious all of a sudden but you don’t show it. Who knows what Frankie said about you to these guys?
“Look who it is, Fish!” Benny says, putting a hand on your shoulder.
“Guys, this is my neighbor,” Frankie says. He looks a little… nervous? You’ve never seen him like this before.
“I’m Santiago,” a man with dark hair says, shaking your hand.
“Nice to meet you,” you say, forcing a fake smile.
“And this is Will,” Santiago continues, gesturing to a man with short blond hair.
“You got anyone else coming, Fish?” Santiago asks, turning towards Frankie, “What about Heather?”
“Uh, she’s not coming.”
“Shit, man. Is everything alright?”
“We’re fine. But actually, can you help me with something in the kitchen?” Frankie asks, making eye contact with you. He looks bothered, like there’s something he wants to say but isn’t letting it come out.
“Sure,” you reply, following him to the kitchen where he opens the refrigerator. The cake is sitting on the shelf in its box and your stomach drops. Poor guy.
He grabs the cake from the refrigerator and sets it on the kitchen counter.
“Can you help fix this? She put the wrong name,” he says, opening the lid to reveal the cake you decorated earlier today.
“I can try. Can you get me a butter knife?”
He opens his silverware drawer and hands you a knife.
“Well, I think I can smear out the name and make a swirly pattern around the happy birthday?”
“Whatever you have to do,” he says softly.
You take the knife and swipe away the “Franklin”, making a tie-dye design on the cake but stopping at the fish.
“You want me to leave the fish?”
“Nah, scrap it. Catfish is pretty much the only thing she knew about me anyway,” he says dejectedly.
“Right…” you respond awkwardly, swiping away your hard work from earlier. You can only assume he doesn’t know this birthday cake is from your bakery. But you fix the cake the best you can so it just says “Happy Birthday” with a swirly design.
“That better?”
“Yes. Thank you,” he says, letting out a sigh, “I just didn’t want them to see it.”
“I get that-”
“Let’s get this fucking party started!” Benny says, entering the kitchen and slamming a six-pack of beer on the counter.
“Oh, actually I have to go-” you start.
“What?? No way, you gotta stay,” Benny says, putting an arm around your shoulders.
You could stay and just cancel your plans with Ally. But this is Frankie’s birthday party and you weren’t exactly invited. And you’re both aware of how much you painfully dislike each other. You look at Frankie, searching his eyes for an indication of how he’s feeling.
“You’re more than welcome to join us,” he says softly.
“Are you sure? I don’t wanna impose.”
“Nooo, stay,” Benny says, looking at you with a wide grin on his face.
“By all means,” Frankie says.
“Fuck yeah,” Benny says, “Can I get you a drink? We have all sorts of shit.”
“Hard cider?”
“A woman with taste. I like it,” he says, removing the arm around your shoulders and opening the refrigerator.
You pull out your phone to text Ally. It has to be something inconspicuous. She knows you hate Frankie with a passion so you can’t exactly say you’re partying with him and his friends right now. Maybe just lie and say you’re sick?
You do exactly that, saying your stomach is bothering you. Just as you press send, Benny’s hanging you your hard cider. And now it’s just the three of you in Frankie’s kitchen, standing around awkwardly.
“I have some of the MMA guys coming, too. That alright?” Benny says.
“Fine with me. The more the merrier,” Frankie smiles. But the smile seems forced.
Just Frankie says that there’s a knock on the door and it’s the guys Benny was referring to. A handful of men pile into Frankie’s living room with Will and Santiago, and now you’re the only girl here. And also sort of regretting your decision to cancel on Ally.
“Let me introduce to you some of my friends!” Benny says cheerfully, grabbing your hand and leading you back to the living room. You exchange hello’s with Benny’s friends, a group of four guys whose names you can’t really be bothered to remember.
Soon enough the folding table is pulled out and all of the guys are playing beer pong. You decide to just stand and watch, sipping your drink and keeping to yourself… except for Benny, who has been by your side all night. At first, it was kind of annoying but now that you’re talking to him he’s actually pretty cute. Or it’s just the alcohol talking.
“Can I get you another drink?” he asks when yours is empty.
“Sure,” you smile, handing the empty bottle to him.
Now that you’re alone for a moment your eyes are scanning the room again, and they lock eyes with Frankie, who’s playing beer pong but not really paying attention. Benny comes back with your drink, handing it to you and leaning against the wall with his arm raised over his head.
“Frankie never mentioned just how gorgeous you are.”
“Oh! Thank you,” you respond, caught you off guard. You’re feeling awkward, not knowing what to say back so your eyes are searching the room again. And once again, they lock with Frankie’s, whose eyes are… angry? But why is he angry? Is he… jealous? Nah, no way. He has a girlfriend. But she’s also proved herself to be shitty. And besides that, you two hate each other. Unless… you really don’t?
You decide to do a little experiment. Benny is super hot, but maybe you could turn up the flirting a bit and see just how jealous Frankie gets.
And that’s exactly what you do. You’re laughing at all Benny’s jokes, falling for every cheesy pickup line, doing the thing where you look from his eyes, down to his lips, and back up to his eyes, literally anything to flirt. And even though it’s for an experiment, you’re having fun and you could actually see yourself maybe liking Benny.
You look over at Frankie, and to your surprise (and also delight?), he’s looking directly at you. His eyes are almost pleading with you. But at the end of the day, you don’t owe him anything. And he’s taken. So why stop all the fun?
“I just can’t believe this is the first time we’re meeting,” Benny says, shaking his head.
“I didn’t know Frankie had such nice friends!” you respond.
Benny leans a little closer to you, his eyes fixed on your lips. Oh shit, is he really gonna kiss you? Right here? Right now? In front of everyone?
But also… why not?
You lean forward more too, inching closer and closing the gap between you two. Just as your lips are about to meet, Santiago shouts, “Jesus, Fish! What are you doing?!”
You pull away from each other and look at what’s going on. It seems that Frankie royally screwed up the round of beer pong because he and Santiago just lost.
“Alright, alright. Don’t yell at the birthday boy,” Will laughs.
Santiago sighs and says, “Best two out of three?”
The other men shrug but Frankie excuses himself, saying, “I need another drink.”
You can’t help but feel like that was your fault. Shit, maybe Frankie does have some sort of crush on you? Because why else would he get jealous over his friend flirting with you? Wouldn’t he want that to happen, as a means of burying the hatchet between you two?
“I have to use the bathroom,” you say to Benny.
“Down the hall on your right,” he says.
You set your drink down on the coffee table and walk through the kitchen, but before you head to the bathroom you take a look at Frankie, who’s sipping a beer and looking at his birthday cake. A look of confusion and uncertainty on his face. You just can’t help but feel bad for him in some sort of weird way. But there’s also a nagging feeling deep down inside you that’s telling you that you shouldn’t feel bad for him. This guy has been nothing but a complete asshole to you. Why do you care so much about his feelings?
You head down to the bathroom and pull out your phone. There’s a text from Ally and thankfully she wasn’t upset about the plans getting canceled. But you look at the time and decide, you should just go home. Besides, it’s getting a little boring watching the men play beer pong and you’re running out of things to talk about with Benny.
You head back into the living room and say to Benny, “I think I’m gonna head home.”
“Aw, okay. I’ll catch you later. But maybe you can come to one of my matches sometime?”
“I’d like that,” you smile.
You poke your head into the kitchen and tell Frankie you’re leaving.
“Happy birthday by the way,” you say.
He nods and waves his hand a little before you bid your goodbyes to everyone else and walk next door. And the only thought on your mind is… What the hell just happened?
You flop down on your couch and the room feels like it’s spinning, your mind swirling with all sorts of thoughts and emotions. You’re feeling a weird mix of confusion, pity, and also… apathy? You run through the basics:
1. Frankie’s girlfriend sucks.
2. It’s shitty that his birthday cake was messed up.
3. You really don’t mind Benny at all and can see yourself liking him.
4. At the end of the day, Frankie is still an asshole.
And that trumps everything else, no matter how bad you feel for him.
-
Mid-December
Several weeks have gone by and you haven’t seen much of Frankie, or his friends for that matter. Lately, it feels like you've been living at the bakery twenty-four-seven. Especially since Thanksgiving just ended. But that also means you’re heading into another busy season; Christmas time.
The holidays are your least favorite time of year. But running your own bakery means that you get to keep busy during the holidays. It’s always the perfect excuse for when your mother calls and asks why you’re not coming home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. You can usually get out of one and not the other. This year you skipped Thanksgiving so you’ll be due home for Christmas… unless you can think of another excuse to stay home again. But then you’ll get another phone call from your father claiming that “you’re breaking your mother’s heart” or whatever.
From what you can tell, Frankie stayed home for Thanksgiving, too. Though you don’t know if his family is around here or not. His friends didn’t come over for Thanksgiving so you assume they were with their own families respectively. And you’re not really sure what happened with his girlfriend. So the two of you were just… alone that day. For some reason, the thought makes you kind of… sad? But like you told yourself weeks ago, don’t feel bad for Frankie, like at all.
But now that you’re thinking of Frankie… he’s been his typical self, but maybe scaled back a bit? His lawn hasn’t been cut in God knows how long and his friends still come over to party here and there. But it’s definitely been a lot less than usual. Maybe the holidays are tough for him, too.
Just as you’re leaving to go open the bakery the week before Christmas, you get a phone call from your mom. You sigh and roll your eyes because you already know what this is about. And you’ve been dreading this phone call since Thanksgiving.
“Yes, mom?” you say as you answer the phone.
“Is that any way to answer a phone call from your mother?” she says. God, you can already feel the judgment and disappointment seeping from her voice, even over the phone.
“Ah, sorry Mom. How are you?”
“I’m just calling to see if we can expect you home for Christmas this year.”
“Uhh-”
“You know, since you broke your mother’s heart and didn’t come home for Thanksgiving.”
“I think.”
“You think?”
“Yeah, I’ve just been really busy, uh, with the bakery and all.”
“That’s always the excuse. I’m getting sick of your shit. I need a straight answer as to whether or not you’ll be home for Christmas now.”
As you open your mouth to respond, probably with some poorly thought-out rebuttal since you’re so heated, you spot Frankie walking across his lawn toward you. Perfect escape from this phone call maybe?
“Shit sorry Mom. Gotta go. My neighbor’s coming up to me.”
As you pull the phone away from your ear and hang up, you hear your mom’s angry protests. But you’re too focused on Frankie to care. Because what could he want with you now? You haven’t done anything to piss him off lately. That you can remember anyway…
“Hey,” he says with a shaky breath.
“Hi,” you say awkwardly.
“I need to ask you for a favor.”
“Okay…”
“Feel free to say no because it’s weird but I don’t know what else to do. And I’m sorry to drop this on you but-”
“Spit it out.”
“Will you come home with me for Christmas as my date? It would be fake, of course.”
Oh. You definitely weren’t expecting that to be the favor he needed. And for some reason him adding in “it would be fake, of course” is so funny. It’s so funny that you actually burst out into a fit of laughter.
“What’s so funny?”
“You’re not being serious.”
“I am.”
“But… why?”
“My girlfriend broke up with me right before Thanksgiving.”
“Let me get this straight. She put the wrong name on your birthday cake and you let her break up with you first?”
“It’s not funny.”
“I know it’s not.”
“So, you’ll help me?”
“Why can’t you just go home alone?”
“Because I can’t go home for another holiday alone. I already skipped Thanksgiving. My family’s always pestering me about settling down and I can’t take it anymore.”
“What’s in it for me?” you sigh.
“Uh, you don’t have to go home to your shitty family? I mean I’m just assuming from that phone call you just had.”
“Yeah and instead I get to go home to yours?”
“My family’s not shitty. They’re nothing like me.”
You can’t lie to yourself and say that the offer isn’t tempting. Because as soon as you mention the word “boyfriend” to your mother she’ll be all over it. Like Frankie’s family, your mom’s been pestering you to settle down, too. If you offer her some sort of crumb to give her the indication that you’re finally “settling down” maybe she’ll leave you alone for once.
“Just think about it,” Frankie says while you’re contemplating his offer to himself.
He turns to walk back to his house but you stop him before he goes anywhere.
“Wait!”
He turns around to face you again with a hopeful look in his eye. You can’t believe you’re actually agreeing to this.
“Fine.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” you sigh, “I guess it beats going home to my family.”
“Thank you,” he says, pulling you in for a hug.
“Alright, the fake relationship hasn’t started yet,” you say, wincing at his embrace.
“Shit, you’re right,” he says, pulling away.
“How long are we there?”
“From the twenty-third until New Year’s. That okay with you? I know you have the bakery and all…”
It’s a little earlier than you prefer to close and it’s quite a long time to be gone but you suppose you can make do. Maybe you can catch a short flight home if you need to be back to the bakery by then?
“Yeah, fine with me. Where does your family live?”
“Savannah, Georgia.”
Oof, five hours in Frankie’s truck, just the two of you… But it’s worth it.
“Okay,” you sigh.
“Great. Thank you so much. We’ll leave around ten, okay?”
“Alright. Sounds like a plan.”
“Oh, one more thing. Can you bake something?”
You let out a sigh. “Yeah, sure. I’ll think of what to make.”
“Thanks again,” he says, putting his hands together like he’s praying before turning and walking back to his house. You’re left in your driveway questioning all your life choices that led up to this moment. But now you get to call your mom and tell her about this mysterious boyfriend you just happened upon.
You get in the car to leave for work and call your mom again, making sure to act a bit more pleasant this time.
“Hello?”
“Hey, mom,” you say, putting on your cheeriest voice.
“What happened with your neighbor?”
“Oh, nothing. He just had a package for me. Got delivered to his house by accident.”
“Oh, okay. So are you coming home for Christmas or what?”
“Actually, I’m not. I’m sorry. But I have a good reason?”
“And that is?”
“I’m going to my boyfriend’s family’s Christmas.”
“Boyfriend? You didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend.”
“Uhh, it’s sort of new.”
“What’s his name?”
“Frankie.”
“Well, don’t fuck this one up. I want to meet him after Christmas, okay?”
Classic mom. She always has to make this about how much you suck.
“Of course. I’ll talk to you later, though. I gotta go open up the bakery.”
“Alright. Love you, bye.”
“Love you, too. Bye.”
That’s the best phone call you’ve had with your mom in a while. Maybe pretending to date Frankie will be a good thing?
-
It’s time to go. You're dressed in a comfy outfit for the drive. Everything’s packed and ready to go. You decided to make lemon bars from the lemon tree in your backyard. They’re packed away neatly in your to-go container. You head outside with all of your bags and Frankie meets you in your hard to help you.
“Jesus, did you pack the kitchen sink, too?”
“Wow, you’re so funny,” you say, rolling your eyes.
You’re already questioning why you said yes to this. But then your mother’s nagging voice is deep in the back of your mind.
It’s better than going home, you tell yourself.
You get into the passenger seat and Frankie backs out of the driveway. You look at his lawn out the window as you leave. Still not cut, of course.
For the first thirty minutes of the drive, it’s painfully silent. Until Frankie says, “You let me know if you need to stop to pee or something.”
“Okay…” you say awkwardly.
Another fifteen minutes goes by and he breaks the silence again.
“You know, if we want to sell this we have to act like a real couple.”
You were dreading this conversation.
“Yeah…”
“For one, we’ll probably gonna be sharing a bed.”
“Uh-huh.”
“And we have to act like we somewhat like each other when we’re not alone.”
“I know,” you sigh.
“Think you can do that?”
“I said yes to this, didn’t I?”
“Right…”
You can’t sit through another uncomfortable silence again. You’ve still got like four more hours of this drive to go.
“I guess we have to get to know each other.”
“Right. So what do you do? Oh fuck, I know you have the bakery but I meant tell me about it.”
“Uhh, right. I opened it four years ago. I just make desserts, like pastries and shit.”
“Gotcha.”
“What about you?”
“I used to be in the Army, specifically the Delta Force.”
“Oh, wow. How long were you in the Army?”
“I joined right after I got out of high school.”
“Long time,” you comment, “When did you leave?”
“About three years ago. I was just a pilot for a while.”
“Gotcha. What do you do now?”
“Not much. I’ve been living off my pension for the past two years after some shit happened.”
“We don’t have to talk about-”
“Our friend passed.”
“Oh, Frankie. I’m sorry.”
He says nothing more and you’re so curious for more information but you don’t want to pry either. It falls silent again and then you decide to pry for more information about a less heavy topic.
“So… if you don’t mind me asking, what happened with your girlfriend?”
“She broke up with me two days before Thanksgiving.”
“That’s rough. What did you tell your family?”
“I pretended I was sick.”
“I’m sorry, Frankie.”
“Don’t be. I probably should’ve ended things a while ago. I don’t think she had any idea about who I really am.”
“Right.”
“She didn’t even know my full name.”
The cake that you made.
“Yeah…”
“She put the wrong name and didn’t even get a cake I like.”
“About that.”
“Hm?”
“Do you know where she got that cake from?”
“No.”
“She came to my store.”
“…Did you know it was the wrong name?”
“Well yes, but what was I supposed to say? She’s the customer. I can't correct her. I just have to write what she ordered.”
“I know…” he sighs.
“Regardless, it doesn’t change the fact that she was the wrong person for you, okay?”
“You’re right. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it. I felt bad making it.”
“You did?”
“I mean, it’s kinda shitty if your girlfriend doesn’t know your name, right?” You chuckle.
“Right again,” he nods, looking over at you from the driver's seat.
“So what kind of cake do you like then?” you ask.
“Chocolate. I’m a simple guy.”
“Noted. So now I know Frankie Morales used to be in the Army, used to be a pilot, and likes chocolate cake. Anything else I need to know?”
“That about sums me up I guess.”
“Oh, come on! There’s more to you than that. What do you like to do for fun? Besides partying.”
“Oh, uh, I like to play poker with my friends. I’m into cars. And we’ll go support Benny at some of his matches. That’s pretty much all I do these days.”
“And also not cutting your lawn.”
“Listen-”
“And complaining about free fruit,” you tease.
“Alright, alright. I know I haven’t been the best neighbor in the past.”
“Uh-huh,” you say sarcastically.
“I guess after what happened I went down a spiral. And I was just… selfish for a while. Only caring about what I wanted to do and not thinking how it affects others.”
“That’s fair. You went through something traumatic.”
He opens his mouth to say something else but no words come out. It feels like he’s hiding something or not telling the full truth. And he wants to tell you, but he feels just can’t, that you’re not ready for that just yet.
It’s silent again and this time you find yourself dozing off with your cheek pressed up against the cool glass window. Somehow you’re able to fall asleep to Frankie’s music that he put on to fill the silence. You recognize it’s a Tom Petty song, but as you’re trying to put your finger on just what song it is, sleep fully overtakes you.
-
You were only out for about an hour and a half. It’s hard to sleep for long periods in a truck. As you open your eyes and stretch a little, Frankie says, “Wake up, sleepyhead. You’re officially the worst co-pilot in the world.”
“Whatever,” you say sarcastically, also while stifling back a yawn.
“I’m just teasing. You can go back to sleep if you want.”
“It’s fine. I probably shouldn’t sleep for too long anyway. It’ll mess up my sleep schedule.”
“Oof, my sleep schedule is pretty fucked up.”
You glare at him from the passenger seat. But he doesn’t get why, looking at you and going “What?” with a shrug.
“I noticed,” you say coldly.
Everyone knows the best time to air your grievances with each other is when you’re trapped in a moving vehicle together!
“Okay… Why do you seem mad?”
“You and your friends are just… loud.”
“Oh.”
“And I have to be up early in the mornings to open the store.”
“Oh,” he says again like the realization is hitting him.
“It’s alright…” you say awkwardly, even though it’s not.
“It’s not alright. I wasn’t being considerate.”
“I know, but I didn’t say anything either.”
“You sure said something about my lawn,” he teases.
“Because it’s a fucking eyesore, Francisco!”
“Be honest. You just wanted to see me mowing the lawn with my shirt off.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Don’t lie! I saw the way you looked at me when you first moved in.”
“Oh, shut up!” you say, playfully slapping him on the arm.
“You’re not denying it,” he says with a smirk.
“Yeah, yeah whatever. Maybe I thought you were cute when I first moved in. Didn’t last long, though.”
“I know,” he sighs, “I’m trying to be better. Ironically enough I think Heather dumping me was what I needed.”
“I think so, too.”
Before either of you can say anything else, Frankie’s passing a sign indicating there’s a rest stop ahead.
“Can we stop? I have to pee,” you say.
“Sure thing,” he says, pulling off the highway and into the rest stop parking lot.
“Meet you back here?” you say, opening the door.
“I’ll go with you. All sorts of seedy characters hang out at rest stops,” he says, getting out of the car and walking around to your side.
He helps you get out of the truck and walks inside with you, placing a hand on the small on your back as you cross the parking lot. His head’s in a constant swivel, eyes scanning the crowd for any signs of trouble.
“I think I’ll take it from here,” you say, stopping in front of the women’s restroom.
“I’ll be waiting here,” he nods.
You nod back and look at what he’s wearing; a burgundy t-shirt with a black zip-up sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and of course the Standard Oil cap. Now that you’re starting to see Frankie for who he really is… you don’t mind him at all? Seven months ago you never thought this would’ve happened, that you’d actually be civil with him. Maybe you just had to give him a chance.
You do your business and walk back out to the lobby to meet Frankie. He’s on high alert, standing stiff as a board and taking in all of his surroundings. Until he sees you and his face lights up.
“I got us some stuff for the road!” he says cheerfully, holding up a plastic bag.
You look inside the bag and “some stuff” was an understatement. It looks like Frankie bought out the entire store. There are bottles of water, soda, different kinds of chips, candy, and gum- you name it, he bought it.
“I wasn’t sure what you liked. So I just got a few different things,” he says, most likely noticing how wide your eyes got.
“Thanks, Frankie. That was sweet of you.”
“Do you need anything else before we get back on the road?”
“I think I’m all set,” you nod.
You walk back to the truck with him and he does the same thing he did before, placing a hand on your back as you cross the parking lot. He opens your door for you and you take the bag from him once you’re settled in your seat. He gets back into the driver seat and soon enough, you’re back on the road.
“So I should probably prepare you for meeting my family,” he says, reaching for a Slim Jim in the bag.
“Oh god, why?”
“They’re not bad. They’re just… a lot? But they mean well.”
“Okay.”
“So you have my mother, Rosa, and my father Francisco Sr. But he passed away when I was twenty.”
“I’m sorry, Frankie.”
“Don’t be. It was a long time ago. I have three older sisters.”
“You’re the baby of the family?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Nothing. It just tracks.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment, thanks. My sisters are Ria, Isabel, and Laura. Ria is married to Emmanuel and they have two kids, Luna and Camila. They’re college-aged. And then Isabel is with her wife, Aurora.”
“Okay,” you respond, mentally trying to keep track of all this.
“And then Laura is married to Rafael and they have three kids, Sofia, Anthony, and Marcelo. Sofia is twelve. I think Anthony’s nine or ten. And Marcelo is four. He’s my favorite.”
“Frankie! You’re not supposed to have favorites.”
“It’s not like I tell them that. I also have two aunts, Aunt Linda and Aunt Maggie. They’re my mother’s sisters. And then my Uncle Tommy, he’s my dad’s brother. And then there’s Cousin Ben, he’s Tommy’s son, around my age.”
You’re doing mental gymnastics, trying to memorize everyone’s names, ages, and who they’re married to.
“Got all that?” Frankie says with a smirk, noticing the puzzled expression on your face.
“I think so?”
“Don’t worry. Everyone will introduce themselves when we get there. They’re not gonna leave you alone so sorry about that in advance.”
“It’s alright. It beats going home to my family.”
“What are they like? I’m assuming they’re… not good if you don’t want to go home for the holidays.”
“Yeah, you’ve got it pretty much. My mom is super overbearing and nitpicking. I can’t do anything, or wear anything, or even say anything without her giving her two cents. My dad just sits there and lets her spew her bullshit without a filter. And then my younger sister, Erica, is just… perfect. She can’t do anything wrong in their eyes.”
“That sounds tough.”
“It is. I stopped going home for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I try to just do one each year but I can’t take it anymore.”
“I understand,” Frankie says softly.
“My sister’s in medical school to be a cardiologist. So to my parents, running a bakery just doesn’t compare.”
“That’s stupid. Don’t they know how hard it is to run your own business?”
“No, and they probably don’t care to be honest.”
“I’m really sorry.”
“It’s alright. Thanks for getting me a way out of Christmas this year, though.”
“Of course. You’re doing me a big favor.”
The rest of the drive goes smoothly and eventually, you’re pulling into Frankie’s parents' house in Savannah. The second Frankie’s truck is in the driveway, an older woman, probably his mother, is running out of the front door and into the driveway. He parks the truck and you get out to meet her. She immediately pulls Frankie into a big hug.
“My baby’s home!!,” she says, embracing him and placing her hands on the back of his head.
“You and that damn hat,” she says, “You have such beautiful hair, mijo. Why do you hide it?”
“You know I like the hat, Ma.”
She pulls away and her eyes are immediately on you. You’re nervous about her first impression of you, even though you’re not even Frankie’s girlfriend. But she thinks you are and you need to play the part.
“It’s so nice to meet you!” she says, pulling into a hug, too. She gives the best hugs, rubbing your back and swaying just a little, even though you just met.
“I want you to be comfortable here, okay? My house is your house,” she says, pulling back and grabbing your hands.
“Thank you so much for having me in your home, Mrs. Morales,” you smile.
“Please! Call me Rosa. Let Francisco get the bags and we’ll go inside, yeah?”
“Okay,” you nod, following her inside the house.
It’s a beautiful home, decorated to the nines with the Christmas spirit. She leads you to her living film where there are pictures of everyone Frankie mentioned on the way here. On the coffee table, there’s one of Frankie’s parents with him and his sisters. You can really see the resemblance there between him and his mom. They have the same warm brown eyes and dimples.
“You have a beautiful home, Rosa,” you tell her, sitting on the couch next to her.
“Thank you, honey,” she says, “Tell me about yourself. It’s so hard to get Francisco on the phone these days. I feel like I know nothing about you.”
“I live in Tampa like Frankie. We don’t live too far from each other And I run a bakery.”
“Wow, good for you. It’s hard running your own business. Your parents must be very proud.”
“They are,” you say, lying through your teeth.
“How has my son been? He’s been a little off since he lost Tom in Colombia two years ago. He’s not doing drugs again, is he?”
“Oh! No, to my knowledge, he isn’t?” you respond, stumbling over your words. That was a lot of information to take in, most of it Frankie hasn’t told you about yet.
“That’s good,” she sighs, “I worry about him.”
“I get it. But I think he’s on an upward trajectory.”
“Thank you, honey. I know he’s a lot to put up with.”
Frankie meets you in the living room and plops down on an armchair across from the couch, letting out an exasperated sigh.
“Tired?” you chuckle.
“Yeah,” he pants, “Someone had to pack everything they own and the kitchen sink, too.”
“Francisco! You grew up with all women. Don’t you know this is how we are?” his mother says.
“Yeah, Frankie,” you add sarcastically.
“You two are gonna be the death of me,” he says, leaning back in the chair and closing his eyes.
“Where did you put the lemon bars?”
“In the refrigerator.”
“You made lemon bars? Francisco told me you liked to bake.”
“Yeah!” you say, turning towards her again, “I didn’t want to come empty-handed.”
“Why don’t you both help me prepare dinner for tomorrow night? After you rest, of course. You had a long drive.”
“Oh, yeah. I need a nap,” Frankie says, getting up from the chair and heading up the stairs.
“Get some rest, honey,” she says, gesturing towards the stairs.
“Okay,” you say, feeling a little awkward that you’re supposed to just go lay in a bed with Frankie.
Frankie’s waiting for you at the top of the stairs, smiling down at you. For some reason the sight makes your heart skip a beat. You meet him upstairs and he leads you to his childhood bedroom. His walls are blue and his bookshelves are filled with baseball trophies from when he was a kid up until high school. There are a few car posters scattered on his ealls. The bags are at the foot of his bed that’s tucked away in the corner of his room and thankfully, it’s not a twin-sized bed. Across the room is his desk, a few comic books stacked in a messy pile like he never left.
“This is my room,” he says, gesturing vaguely to the space around him.
“Cute,” you say, walking around and eyeing some of the stuff he has on his shelves. There’s a picture in a frame of Frankie as a kid with presumably his father right after one of his baseball games. He was a cute kid, wearing a toothy grin with some holes for the baby teeth he lost.
“That’s my dad,” he says, noticing you looking at the picture.
“Now that I’m looking at him, I can’t tell who you look like more,” you comment.
“Definitely my dad,” he says.
You turn to look at him and realize he’s right. A lot of his facial features match his father’s, but his eyes- those are his mother’s.
“Are you tired?” he asks.
“A little,” you yawn.
“I don’t have to sleep in bed with you,” he says quickly.
“I thought you said we were going to? You know, to keep up appearances or something,” you say, trying to ignore the butterflies in your stomach.
“Oh, right. Just making sure.”
He takes off his sweatshirt and his hat, his curls matted down from wearing it on his head all day. He sets them down on the desk and walks over to the bed, pulling back the comforter and slipping in between the sheets. He moves to the side closest to the wall, letting you have the outside and the wall with the outlet to charge your phone like a true gentleman. You crawl in beside him, lying down side by side, mere inches from each other.
“You don’t sleep naked, do you?”
He doesn’t say anything at first and you take that as a yes.
“…I won’t while we’re home.”
“Cool,” you say awkwardly, rolling on your side and closing your eyes.
“Goodnight?” he says.
“It’s just a nap, but sure. Goodnight, Frankie,” you chuckle.
…You do your best to fall asleep but to be honest, you’re freezing. You don’t really get why. You’re only a few hours north and Georgia doesn’t typically get too cold. Unless his mom has the air on or a window open; something. That doesn’t make sense, though. Don’t elderly people keep their houses entirely too hot?
“You’re shivering,” Frankie says, snapping you out of your thoughts.
“What? No, I’m not.”
“Yes, you are. I can see you shaking.”
“I’ll be fine.”
“You don’t have to be cold.”
“What’s your solution then?”
“I could tell my mom to adjust the-”
“No, do not do that.”
“Or there’s the other option.”
“Uh huh…”
“I could hold you.”
“…You don’t have to.”
“I don’t mind.”
“…Fine.”
You feel him scooch closer to you and all of a sudden his warm chest is pressed up against your back. The comforter lifts for a second before his muscular arm wraps around you, pulling you even closer towards him. You’re immediately feeling warmer. He’s like a human space heater or something.
“Better?”
“Y-Yeah. Thank you.”
As much as you hate to admit it, you’re much more comfortable now. However, there is one thing that’s keeping you from falling asleep. And that’s Frankie’s bulge presses right up against your ass.
…You don’t hate it, though. If anything it makes you feel… good? Knowing that you have that effect on him. Maybe he really was jealous weeks ago at his birthday party. All of this begs the question; when did his feelings for you begin?
Lost in thought and enveloped in Frankie’s body heat, you drift off to sleep.
-
You wake up an hour or so later to the doorbell ringing. Frankie wakes up, too, stretching and removing the arm that was slung over your waist. You already miss its absence.
Frankie’s mom is talking to someone at the door. And it sounds like she’s talking to… a pizza delivery guy?
Frankie rolls onto his back, stretching again and yawning. You fall onto your back, too, lying side by side.
“I think she ordered pizza,” Frankie says sleepily.
“That was nice of her.”
“Just so we don’t have to worry about making dinner tonight while we prepare tomorrow’s.”
“Make sense,” you reply, rolling out of bed and stretching once your feet hit the floor.
“Did you sleep well?” Frankie asks, sitting at the edge.
“I did. Thanks for keeping me warm.”
“You’re welcome but it wasn’t all for you, though.”
“Oh?” you ask, wondering if he could be referring to the hard-on he had while holding you…
“Yeah, I can’t sleep next to you if you’re shaking like a leaf.”
You roll your eyes and he chuckles, leading you down the hallway and down the stairs, straight into the kitchen where the pizza awaits.
“Dinner’s here!” Rosa says cheerfully, gesturing to the pizza boxes on the counter, “There’s a salad and garlic bread, too.”
“Thanks, Ma,” Frankie says, grabbing a plate from the cabinet and handing it to you.
“Thank you,” you say, “Are you sure you don’t want anything towards it?”
“Nonsense! When you’re in my house, I take care of you,” she says, waving you off.
A saint of a woman she is. Frankie’s lucky to have a mother like her. The three of you sit at the kitchen counter eating while Rosa talks about what Christmas Eve dinner will be.
“So tonight we’ll prepare the pasteles. And tomorrow we’ll do the rice and beans. Ria is bringing rolls. Laura’s bringing salad. And Isabel’s bringing flan.”
“Ooh, I love flan. I can make gingerbread cookies for Christmas Day, too,” you say, finishing your slice of pizza.
“Thank you, honey. We’ll have a great time tomorrow. And you’ll get to meet all of Frankie’s sisters.”
“How exciting,” you say looking over at Frankie.
“Frankie’s the baby of the family,” his mother says.
“I could tell,” you snicker.
“What’s that supposed to mean?!”
“You just have little brother energy,” you shrug.
“What about you, dear?” his mom asks.
“It’s just me and my sister. I’m the oldest.”
“Well you have older sister energy, so how about that?”
“So I’m wiser and more responsible?”
“Whatever,” Frankie sighs.
“It’s true, Francisco. You can ask Ria.”
“Oh yeah, I’ll get right on that,” he says sarcastically, taking all your plates to the sink.
You clean up from dinner with Frankie before preparing the pasteles. You’re standing at the kitchen island, stuffing the pasteles and listening to Rosa tell stories about Frankie when he was a kid.
“He was my toughest kid to potty train,” she says, shaking her head.
“Mom!” Frankie says, shooting daggers at her with his glare.
“What? You were. And I have the pictures to prove it. For the first two years, you would only use the training potty. I’ll bring out the photo albums tomorrow.”
“No,” Frankie says quickly.
“Oh yes,” you laugh.
“Ughhh,” Frankie sighs while you and Rosa share a laugh.
Soon enough all of the pasteles are prepped for tomorrow and the kitchen is clean again.
“Thank you both for helping me. Now get some sleep! You’ll need all the energy you can get to deal with this family.”
“Goodnight, Ma,” Frankie says, heading towards the stairs.
“Goodnight. Thank you again for everything,” you say to her.
“Of course, honey. See you in the morning!” she says.
As you’re heading up the stairs, she calls out to Frankie, “Francisco! Make sure you show her where the fresh towels are!”
“I will, Ma,” Frankie says, calling down the stairwell.
“You want to shower?”
Before you can respond he quickly adds, “Not with me of course.”
“I know,” you snort, “But sure. Where’s the bathroom?”
He leads you down the hallway and stops at a door on the right, opening to reveal a linen closet.
“Towels are here. Bathroom’s over here,” he says, pointing to a door directly across from the linen closet.
“Thanks,” you tell him, grabbing a towel and heading to the shower. You shut the door behind you and now that you’re alone for once, you let your mind wander…
What happened in Colombia? And what sort of drugs was Frankie on?
You turn on the shower and strip, letting the hot water run down your body as you think about all the possibilities. He did say he lost a friend. Maybe that’s what happened in Colombia. But that doesn’t explain the drugs.
A knock on the door brings you back to reality.
“Can I come in?” Frankie asks.
“Uhh-”
“I just have to brush my teeth. I won’t look.”
“I guess.”
He opens the door and enters the bathroom, keeping his word and looking away from the shower curtain. In fact, he looks at anything else in the bathroom but the shower curtain, picking up a bottle of Tylenol from the medicine cabinet and reading the warnings. You poke your head out of the shower, watching as he brushes his teeth and reads the label on the bottle. And there’s something so… cute about it, so endearing. And now that you think about it, you wouldn’t particularly mind if he saw you in the shower. You can’t believe you’re actually admitting this to yourself.
But before you know it he spits the sink and rinses his mouth, exiting the bathroom and leaving you with your confusing feelings yet again. You finish your shower and dry off, thinking about his mysterious past again. All of this strange information begs the question… What was he doing in Colombia in the first place? Does he have some dark secrets he’s hiding? And if so, how could he be so cute?
You look at the toilet and see that Frankie also brought you your pajamas, flannel Christmas pants, a short-sleeved shirt, and a pair of lacy underwear…
That means he went through your bag, which should make you mad but the fact he decided to bring you your pajamas so you didn’t have to walk down the cold hallway sopping wet is adorable.
You’ll ask him about his past later you decide. For now, he’s your cute pretend boyfriend and you’re going to live in that fantasy for a while.
Once you’re dry and dressed, you hang your towel up on a hook and walk back to Frankie’s room, where he’s tucked into bed waiting for you. You crawl into bed beside him, lying down on your side and feeling his warm embrace again. His arm returns around your waist and soon enough you’re falling asleep, comforted by his warmth and his scent.
-
The smell of food cooking downstairs wafts up to Frankie’s room, pleasantly waking you up. Frankie’s lying on his back, staring up at the ceiling with his hands folded neatly on his tummy.
You roll over and ask, “You okay?”
“Me? Oh yeah, I’m fine. I think I’m just nervous.”
“Nervous for what? Your family sounds awesome.”
“They are. They can just be overwhelming, I guess.”
“I get it. It’ll be fine, though. Like you said, I don’t think they’ll leave me alone.”
“Right,” he says, shaking his head, “It’s stupid. Today’s gonna be fun.”
“Wanna help me with the gingerbread cookies?” you say, getting out of bed and stretching once your feet hit the floor.
“Sure,” he says, sitting at the edge and yawning, “Do you need to get anything for them?”
“I could just DoorDash some stuff. I don’t want to raid your mom’s kitchen.”
“Ah, she won’t mind. Let’s go downstairs.”
He stands up and stretches, the short-sleeved shirt he’s wearing lifting a little and exposing some of his tummy. His flannel pajama pants are hanging low on his hips and he’s got a little bed-head going on, his curls slightly matted in the back. God, he’s just so… cute. You can’t deny it any longer. As much as you don’t want it to be true, Frankie Morales is a cute man.
You follow him downstairs to the kitchen where his mother is cooking away, stirring different pots and pans on the stove.
“Good morning you two,” she smiles.
“Good morning,” you respond, “It smells amazing down here.”
“Thank you, honey.”
“Ma, I think we’re going to make the gingerbread cookies if we won’t be in your way.”
“Go ahead! By all means. Maybe you can decorate them with the kids tonight?”
“Good idea! Do you need me to get anything from the store?”
“Nonsense! I should have everything you need.”
“Told you,” Frankie says, opening a cabinet and looking through the shelves with you.
To your surprise, she has everything you need for the cookies. And as you sit down at the dining room table Frankie says, “This kitchen is always fully stocked.”
As you roll the dough you think about tonight, meeting the rest of Frankie’s family. You’re excited to meet them but you’re also wondering what you should wear. You packed a few different options for outfits because every family’s vibe is different. Your family tends to lean more formal when it comes to holidays but Frankie’s family could be the complete opposite.
“Frankie?” you ask, cutting the gingerbread men out with a cookie cutter.
“Yeah?”
“What does your family wear on Christmas? Like do they dress up?”
“Oh, we abandoned trying to look nice a long time ago. Especially once my sisters started having kids.”
“Oh, okay. So don’t dress up?”
“Nah.”
That makes you feel at least a little relieved. For some reason, you’re dying for them to like you. And you don’t even get why. You’re not Frankie’s girlfriend. There’s a large chance you’ll never see them again after you leave and go back to Florida.
Once the cookies are on the trays, you pop them in the oven and set a timer on your phone. Rosa’s just about finished with dinner for tonight and Frankie’s cleaning up the mess from the cookies. You look at the clock on the stove and ask, “What time is everyone coming?”
“Around five or so.”
It’s already two-thirty now. You should probably get ready soon, in case Rosa and Frankie need the shower.
“I’ll pull the cookies out if you want to go get ready,” Frankie says as if he read your mind.
“Oh okay, thanks. Fifteen more minutes.”
“Gotcha,” he says, leaning against the counter beside the stove.
You go upstairs and into Frankie’s room, going over all of your outfit choices in your head. You decide to wear option 3, light wash jeans and an emerald green sweater, nothing too fancy. You grab your clothes and your makeup and head to the bathroom, taking extra time to get ready. The timer on your phone for the cookies goes off and you hope Frankie remembers to take them out. You continue your shower, anxiously thinking about meeting the rest of his family.
Eventually, as you’re dressed and putting on your makeup, Frankie knocks on the door.
“Can I come in?”
“Go ahead,” you say, leaning forward toward the mirror and putting on your mascara.
He opens the door and looks at you, practically bent over the sink.
“You look…”
“Huh?” you, turning your head towards him.
“You look nice,” he says, eyes wide.
“Thanks. I’m almost done and then the bathroom’s all yours.”
“No rush. Take your time.”
You finish your makeup and gather all your stuff, leaving him in the bathroom and heading back to his room. You plop your stuff down on his bed and think of what to do next. Might as well make yourself useful while he’s showering and get the icing bags ready for the gingerbread cookies. You head back down to the kitchen, where Rosa’s sitting at the table with a cup of coffee.
“You look beautiful, honey,” she says.
“Thank you,” you say, sitting down across from her.
“Francisco’s in the shower?”
“Yes, he is. I think I’m going to get the icing bags ready for the cookies if that’s alright.”
“Of course,” she says, springing up from her chair and rifling through the kitchen cabinets.
She pulls out an electric mixer, confectioners sugar, and food coloring, setting them down on the table.
“Milk’s in the refrigerator and let me get you some Ziploc bags…” she says, reaching into the cabinet again.
“Thanks,” you say, getting to work on the icing while she sits across the counter and watches.
“I know I’ve just met you but I want to say thank you, for taking care of my son,” she says.
“Of course,” you smile, scooping icing into the ziploc bag for makeshift piping bags.
“He hasn’t been the same since Tom died. But now that he’s here, it’s like he’s his old self again.”
Tom. There’s that name again. You have to know what happened if you’re going to keep up this charade. This is the second time she’s mentioned it and you’re playing along like you know what happened. It’s bound to come up again.
“I’m glad he’s doing much better,” you say, adding food coloring to the bags.
Eventually, you hear the water turn off which means Frankie must be getting out of the shower. Rosa gets up from her stool and says, “Well now that Francisco’s finally done, I guess I’ll go shower. I’m sure he left me no hot water.”
You two share a laugh and she heads up the stairs. You’re left alone with your thoughts until Frankie comes back downstairs again. So for now, in the fleeting moments of solitude, you think of ways to ask Frankie about his past that don’t sound completely insensitive. You could ask him under the guise of just trying to keep the charade going. This whole thing was his idea. He’d have to understand, right?
“Hey,” he says, snapping you from your thoughts. You didn’t even notice him coming downstairs.
“Hi.”
“These look good. The kids will have fun decorating them.”
“I hope so,” you say.
You’re both just standing awkwardly in the kitchen, not saying a word. You think to yourself that maybe now would be the best time to ask, in case you need this information for tonight to go smoothly.
You open your mouth to ask, “What happened in Colombia?” but you’re interrupted by the front door opening.
“Feliz Navidad!” a woman’s voice shouts. You’re assuming it’s one of Frankie’s sisters or aunts.
He pokes his head down the hallway and shouts, “Ria!”
You glance over at the clock and she’s early. Frankie looks over at you and says, “She’s always early.”
“She’s the oldest?”
He nods. It makes sense.
She comes into the kitchen and pulls Frankie into a big hug. She looks like a younger version of Rosa, a little bit shorter than Frankie. Her husband and kids pile in behind her, her girls hugging Frankie and her husband shaking his hand.
“So nice of you to show up for Christmas. Not battling some mysterious illness this time, huh?” she teases.
“I’m not lying! I was really sick.”
You’re standing there awkwardly in the kitchen, not trying to interrupt the family reunion. It isn’t until one of Ria’s daughters looks over at you and asks, “Who’s this?” that your presence is acknowledged.
Frankie walks over to you and snakes an arm around your waist, proudly saying, “This is my girlfriend!” followed by your name.
“Nice to meet you!” Ria says, “It’s been such a long time since Francisco’s brought a girl home!”
This is the second family member to refer to him as Francisco and now you’re wondering if you should be doing the same. Before you can continue she motions her daughters over and says, “This is Luna and Camila. Luna’s in her junior year of college and my Camila’s a senior in high school!”
“Exciting times for both of you,” you comment, not really knowing what to say.
But Ria continues anyway. “And this is my husband, Emmanuel,” she says, gesturing to her husband in the corner. He seems like the quiet type, letting his wife do all the talking in social situations.
“Where’s Ma?” Ria asks Frankie.
“In the shower. Are the others on their way?”
“Laura’s almost here. Isabel and Roro will probably be late as per usual. Will you grab the rolls out of the car?”
Emmanuel nods, again not saying much of a word at all before heading out to the car in the driveway. Ria and the girls take off their coats, hanging them on a coat rack by the front door. While Luna and Camila retreat to the living room, Ria takes the rolls from Emmanuel and puts them in the drawer underneath the oven, putting them on a low setting to keep the rolls warm until dinner starts. Soon enough, you’re all sitting in the living room together, awkwardly exchanging glances and waiting for either Rosa to come downstairs or for someone else to arrive.
And for a while, it feels like the front door doesn’t close, a slew of family members coming in left and right. First, it was Aunt Maggie. Then it was Laura with her husband, Rafael, and their kids, Sofia, Anthony (who insists you call him Tony), and Marcelo, Frankie’s favorite. And Frankie wasn’t lying about Marcelo being his favorite, his eyes practically lit up the moment Laura walked in the door, carrying him on her hip. After Laura’s family, Uncle Tommy and Cousin Ben came. Frankie’s arm around your waist tightened when Ben looked you up and down which made your heart do somersaults. Aunt Linda followed soon after. And finally, last but not least, Isabel and Aurora (who goes by Roro) arrived.
Somewhere in between all of the commotion Rosa returned downstairs. And you’re left with your head spinning, trying to keep track of everyone’s names and trying to make a good first impression. And you think you succeeded? Laura and her kids are really nice. Marcelo’s been hanging off you and Frankie since he set foot in the door. Isabel is definitely the coolest Morales sister out of the three of them. You don’t really have any complaints about Frankie’s aunts. And Uncle Tommy’s been dozing off on the couch, reminding everyone to wake him up when it’s time for dinner. You don’t mind Ben at all but he definitely has a little crush on you. You don’t spend too much time talking to him, just enough to learn he teaches high school English.
You also noticed that Isabel, Roro, Uncle Tommy, Ben, and his brother-in-law all call him Frankie and not Francisco. But his mom, Ria, Aunt Maggie, and Aunt Linda call him Francisco. And to the nieces and nephews, he’s Uncle Frankie of course.
Eventually, Rosa announces that it’s time for dinner. Frankie and Ben set up a small folding table for the kids, except for Marcelo who sits on Laura’s lap. You sit in between Frankie and Isabel. Rosa sits at the head of the table and before everyone digs in she says, “Now who would like to say grace?”
“I will,” Tony says, raising his hand from the kids' table.
“Go ahead,” Rosa says.
“Grace. Okay, we’re done. Let’s eat, everybody!”
Everyone shares a laugh and Rosa decides, “You know what? It’s good enough for me!”
The rest of Christmas Eve goes smoothly. After dinner, you help the adults clean up before bringing out the gingerbread cookies to decorate. All of the kids, even Luna and Camila, sit around the table with you, decorating the cookies with your makeshift piping bags. Ria takes a picture of you guys, brows furrowed in concentration as you all try to make the cookies absolutely perfect.
“Aren’t you gonna do one?” you ask Frankie, who’s standing beside you and watching.
“Sure,” he says, pulling up a chair.
He grabs a gingerbread woman and begins to draw a face on her. But before he’s done he gives her a frown and angry eyebrows, holding it up and saying, “Look! It’s you when I don’t mow the lawn!”
“Oh, shut up,” you reply, grabbing your own gingerbread man and giving him not only angry eyebrows but a yellow blob in his hand.
“Look! It’s you when you complain about free lemons.”
The kids laugh even though they don’t know the full context of the joke. But once the last cookie is decorated, people begin to head out, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and saying goodnight. Once the main level is cleaned up you and Frankie say goodnight to his mom. She tells you that Christmas dinner is at Ria’s and that it starts at two.
With that, you’re off to bed, returning to your rightful place of being spooned by Frankie. And for once, the two of you are alone again. Your mind goes back to Tom, what happened in Colombia, and Frankie’s drug addiction. You’re just gonna do it, rip the bandaid off
“Frankie?”
“Hm?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“Well, earlier your mom was talking about your friend Tom and what happened in Colombia… I know it’s not really my business but should I know what happened? You know to keep up the act-”
He sighs and you fear you’ve overstepped.
“I figured it was going to come up sooner or later.”
He pulls away to rest on his back, staring at the ceiling and recounting what happened. You lie on your back, too, looking over at him as he begins his story.
“A few years ago, I developed a really bad addiction to coke. And it cost me almost everything. I lost my pilot's license. Santiago approached me, Tom, Will, and Benny about going to Colombia to steal money from this drug lord, Lorea.”
“I see,” you comment, letting him continue.
“It seemed appealing at the time. I needed the money, you know?”
“I get it,” you say softly.
“The mission was a fucking shitshow. We took fucking two hundred and fifty million dollars and lost all of it. It was too heavy for the helicopter so we crash-landed in a cocaine farm. They thought we were DEA and Tom killed some of them. So then we had to pay them as some kind of reparation. We went through the Andes on mules and two of the villagers followed us. One of them shot Tom and we had to carry him, the rest of the money through the mountains. When we finally reached the coast, the getaway boat was there waiting for us but the town was filled whatever was left of Lorea’s crew. There was no way we could carry all that cash with Tom’s body and make it to the boat without being killed. So we had to dump most of it down a fucking ravine.”
He’s getting more and more upset as he tells his story. And you feel guilty you even asked in the first place. He didn’t need to tell you all the details. He could’ve said his friend Tom died on a military mission in Colombia and that would’ve been enough to quell your curiosity.
“Somehow we made it to the boat, but not without a fucking car chase and shootouts. By the end, we were left with a little over one million dollars each, but we decided to give it all to Tom’s family,” he says, finishing with a deep breath.
You roll onto your side and look over at him. He’s not crying but you can tell he’s visibly upset, his eyes misty.
“Thanks for sharing that with me. I know it’s hard to recount a traumatic experience like that.”
“It’s okay. Figured you should probably know. My family thinks it was some sort of mission for the Army, not that we went rogue. I don’t want them to know the true nature of what it was… greed.”
“Understandable.”
“So after all that I came home with a dead friend and no money.”
“I guess the overgrown lawn and the constant partying make sense now.”
That actually gets him to laugh.
“I guess it does,” he chuckles, “But thanks for putting up with me.”
“Don’t mention it.”
“And thanks for coming here and doing this for me. That happened two years ago and my family has been worried sick about me since. Whenever my mom calls me I just… I just lie. I think if she saw how I was doing now it would break her heart. But here with you, she thinks you’re like my saving grace.”
You don’t say anything because you really don’t know what to say. It’s nice his mother feels that way, but it’s all a lie.
“I know that was a lot…” he says.
“You’re okay. I’m here to listen,” you reassure him.
“You should probably get some sleep. You’ll need all the energy you can get to deal with my family for another day.”
“Okay,” you sigh, rolling over to your other side. Frankie spoons you again like he always does. This time you don’t feel something hard against your lower back, instead you feel Frankie’s breath by your ear.
“Thank you,” he whispers, holding you a little tighter as he falls asleep.
-
You wake up to Frankie still holding you just as tight. You’ve never had a Christmas like this, one so peaceful.
And then it hits you… it’s Christmas. Which means you need presents, something you completely forgot all about. You were too wrapped up in pretending to be Frankie’s girlfriend.
“Frankie?”
“Yeah?”
Has he been awake this whole time? And still holding you just as tight…
Whatever, worry about that later.
“I forget to get everyone fucking presents.”
“Already took care of it.”
“Really?”
“Mhm,” he says, propping his elbow on the pillow and looking down at you, “You’ve never met them before. How could you get presents for people you don’t even know?”
“Right,” you say, lying on your back.
“Merry Christmas,” he smiles.
“Merry Christmas,” you respond.
“Let’s go exchange with my mom.”
You roll out of bed first and let him grab the presents from his suitcase.
“What did I get her?”
“A sweater. It’s her favorite color.”
“Ooh, good idea.”
He hands you the present and it’s wrapped like a typical guy would wrap it.
“I’m telling her you wrapped it.”
“Oh, she’ll be able to tell,” he laughs.
You follow him down the stairs where his mother is sitting on the couch watching a Hallmark movie. She smiles and wishes you a Merry Christmas when she sees you, grabbing presents from under the tree.
You give her the present “you” got her and she clocks Frankie’s wrapping job right away.
“I can tell Francisco wrapped this,” she chuckles, unwrapping the gift and opening the box. She tells you she loves it and pulls you in for a big hug. Even though you didn’t actually buy the gift, you can’t help but appreciate the sense of approval. Your mom would’ve criticized whatever you got her, no matter how great the gift was.
Rosa got Frankie a wallet with his initials engraved in the leather. She got you an apron with your name embroidered on it. Both presents were very thoughtful and as she’s pulling out the photo albums like she promised the other day, Frankie whispers in your ear, “She’s big on getting things personalized.”
The three of you spend the rest of the morning looking at photo albums until it’s time to get ready to go to Ria’s. For once, Frankie can’t wait to jump in the shower, anything to get away from the “embarrassing” pictures his mom is showing you.
Once the three of you are ready you drive to Ria’s in Frankie’s truck, with the gifts piled in the back seat. He parks on the street and you head inside to the already bustling house. Everyone shouts “Feliz Navidad” as you’re taking off your shoes before joining them at the table.
The menu for Christmas dinner is empanadillas, tostones, pernil, and arroz con gandules. And for dessert, there’s tembleque, the gingerbread cookies you and the kids decorated, and of course, the lemon bars.
Christmas Day goes even better than Christmas Eve. All of the presents got for you to give to his family were a hit, but not without a sly comment from Frankie.
“You know… She did have some help,” he says with a smirk and a wink.
That earned him a smack on the arm.
Eventually, the evening is winding down. The kids are sitting under the tree playing with their toys and the adults are scattered around the house. For once, there’s no one paying attention to you two.
“Come with me,” Frankie says, getting off the couch and grabbing his coat.
“Where are we going?”
“For a walk,” he says.
You follow him to the front door, slipping on your shoes and coat. The two of you walk side by side on the sidewalk. It’s silent between you two but it’s a comfortable silence. But as you stop underneath a streetlamp, Frankie says, “I have something for you.”
“Frankie! You didn’t have to.”
“No, I really did. And I wanted to. It’s not just a Christmas present but it’s also a thank you for doing this for me… And also an apology for being a shitty neighbor,” he chuckles.
He pulls out a box from his coat pocket and hands it to you. You lift the lid to reveal a gold chain with a pendant, and a lemon stamped into the metal.
“Aw, Frankie… This is so sweet.”
“Look at the back,” he says softly.
You flip over the pendant and engraved on the back is your street name, Magnolia Drive. You look back at Frankie and his face is nervous, as if he’s waiting for your approval. His brow furrowed, his face dimly lit under the streetlamp, and his curls peeking out under his stupid fucking hat. All you can do at that moment is kiss him. He’s shocked for a second but it doesn’t take long for him to melt into your touch and wrap his arms around you.
He pulls away for a second to ask, “I take it you like it?”
“I love it, Frankie,” you nod, leaning in for a kiss again.
And for a moment you two stay there, holding each other under the streetlamp on Christmas night.
“I didn’t get you a present,” you admit, resting your head against his chest.
“You already did. You did me a huge favor. It’s a lot to deal with my family.”
“I didn't just deal with them. I liked being with them.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, like you said before, they’re nothing like you.”
“Shut up,” he says, pulling you in for another kiss.
After a while he says, “We should probably get back.”
You nod and follow him back to Ria’s house where you bid your goodbyes to everyone and head back to Rosa’s for the night. She turns in early and now it’s just you and Frankie alone again. But being alone with him feels different this time. Not only because you just kissed but also because you think… you have feelings for him. Maybe it’s the holiday spirit talking or how vulnerable he was last night, but you have to admit to yourself that Frankie Morales is not only a cute man but a man you misjudged this whole time.
Once you’re back upstairs to Frankie’s room, you’re sitting side by side on his bed. The silence is back and you’re wondering if you shouldn’t have kissed him earlier. Maybe all you are to him is someone who did him a favor, someone who’s just his neighbor and nothing more.
“I’m sorry about the kiss. I-”
“You’re sorry?”
“Well yeah, I-”
“I’ve wanted to do that for so long, cariño.”
“How long?”
“Soon after you moved in next door.”
“Really? I thought you hated me.”
“No, I never did. I just liked pushing your buttons. You’re cute when you’re irritated.”
Your brain is short-circuiting, in disbelief at what he’s saying.
“Even when you were with Heather?”
“Mhm.”
“Is that why you were so jealous of Benny at your birthday party?”
“...Maybe,”
“Mmm, you’re cute when you’re jealous,” you say, leaning in for another kiss.
This time the kiss is needier, and more passionate, like you can’t get enough of each other’s touch, scent, and taste. His hands caress either side of your face as his body leans into you more, coaxing you to lie down on his bed. His mouth leaves yours, trailing along your jawline and down your neck. Your breath hitches as he nips at your skin, immediately licking the bruised skin afterward. He moves down lower, lips moving along your collarbone, until he’s completely kneeling on the floor in front of his bed. His hands hook around the waistband of your pants, sliding them off in one clean motion before going to remove your panties.
“Frankie?” you ask, resting on your elbows and looking down at him.
“Yeah?”
“What about like… your mom?”
“She sleeps like a rock,” he says bluntly, returning to what he was doing before.
He pulls off your panties and spreads your legs, looking at how wet your cunt is already.
“Mm, so wet for me, cariño,” he muses, his warm breath tickling your core.
Before you can respond, he licks one long, slow stripe up your cunt, sending a shiver up your spine.
“Fuck, Frankie,” you breathe out, eliciting a chuckle from him.
He goes back in for another, licking up and down your entrance slow, enough to drive you crazy. And then, he moves to your clit, tongue swirling around it as your back arches up off the bed. He hooks his arms around your thighs, keeping you in place as he gets to work, nose grinding against your clit while his tongue licks your cunt. It doesn’t take long for you to cum, his face taught against your cunt as you do so.
Once you’re done, he rests his head against your inner thigh, admitting the mess he just made. The lower half of his face is soaked, his patchy facial hair glistening. He returns back to your cunt for one more lap of his tongue, just to taste you one more time before rising from the floor and taking off his clothes. You sit up and take off your sweater and your bra, tossing them on the floor and lying back down. You inch up a little higher on the bed to make room for him as he hovers over you.
“I have a confession to make,” he says, looking down at you with a sly grin.
“Oh??”
“This isn’t the first time I’ve seen you naked.”
“Uhh-”
“Your bathroom window faces mine.”
“...It does?”
“Mhm. Saw you drying off one day.”
“Oh yeah? And then what?”
He bends down and whispers in your ear, “Jerked off in the shower to the thought of you.”
Your whole body shudders.
“Touch me, Frankie, please,” you whine.
“Are you begging, cariño?”
“Fuck. Yes, I am,” you whimper.
“Good girl,” he whispers in your ear, his hand caressing the outline of your breast before moving to your nipple. His other hand gathers some of your releases and strokes his cock, getting extra hard before sliding inside you, all while he plays with your nipple. You gasp at the sensation, feeling his length stretch your walls; feeling like you’re being split apart.
“You can take it,” he softly commands, bringing his face away from your ear and looking into your eyes again. He studies the expression on your face; the open mouth and the tears in the corners of your eyes, and his lips curve into a smirk. He draws his hips back and thrusts into you again, your cunt feeling completely full. Your soft moans are like music to his ears but he needs to hear more, not necessarily more sounds but a confession from you, too.
“Be honest, cariño. You’ve thought about fucking me too, haven’t you?”
It’s actually insane that this is the same sweet man who gave you the most thoughtful Christmas present earlier tonight. The same man who confessed to jerking off in the shower after seeing you naked.
“Y-yes…” you confess.
“What was that? Didn’t hear you,” he says as his hand to your other breast, taking your nipple in between his fingertips.
“Fuck, Frankie yes, I’ve thought about it.”
“When?” he presses further, keeping the same pace with his thrusts.
“All the time. Even when you piss me off.”
“Knew it,” he teases, slamming his hips back into you. He rests his elbows on the other side of your head, face to face with you as he fucks you relentlessly.
“Frankie, I’m gonna cum,” you whimper.
“Let me feel it, cariño,” he says, studying your face again.
You close your eyes as you cum but that just won’t do for him. He wants you to look directly into the eyes of the man who made a mess of you.
“Look at me,” he softly commands.
You open your eyes, locking with his as you cum around his cock, feeling your walls flutter and pulsate in rhythmic patterns.
“Good girl,” he praises, thrusting into you one final time before coming, too. He paints your insides with his cum before pulling out of you and lying down on the bed. You roll over and situate yourself in the crook of his neck, resting your hand on his chest.
“You’re amazing,” he says, taking the his hat off his head and propping it on the bed post before wrapping his arm around you. There’s his sweet side again.
“I can’t believe you saw me naked,” you tease, still sort of in disbelief.
“Two times now. It’s a Christmas miracle,” he jokes.
You have to agree with him. He feels you twitch against him and he whispers, “Goodnight. Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas,” you whisper back, letting sleep consume you.
New Year’s Eve
You’re spending New Year’s Eve at a bar with some of Frankie’s friends from high school. Ever since the night you got together, you’ve been leaning into the girlfriend role more, feeling like it’s not a charade anymore. Frankie doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, he welcomes it. This is what the two of you wanted all along, even if both of you didn’t know it.
You’re watching the ball drop in New York City on the TV at the bar with Frankie’s arm snaked around your waist. As the clock strikes midnight, you kiss, feeling like you’re starting the year off right for once.
“Look at you,” you whisper against his lips, “Ending the year in a fake relationship and starting the new year in a real one.”
“Wouldn’t want it any other way,” he whispers back.

head over heels
Tumblr media
- multiple characters
⤷ kuroo, iwaizumi, atsumu, sakusa
genre: fluff!! ; established relationship
synopsis: in which they realize how head over heels they are for you
word count: 1.4k total :))
warnings: very very slight manga spoilers in iwa’s, i kinda curse a little
- a/n: hi! this is very very late for valentines but i wanted to post it anyways! also, this is very cheesy but when is anything i write not cheesy anyways? & please, i literally write for the same four people BYEE. oh & thank u @omisluvr for beta-ing this ily mwah
Tumblr media
- kuroo tetsurou
he falls for your quick wit & intelligence
we all know that kuroo is known for his wit and for being a big, big nerd LMAOAKJSC
i think he would appreciate a s/o who’s on his level academically & could compete with him, esp cause he’s so competitive
and we know how quick with his words this man is- it’s probably one of the reasons tsukishima actually listens to this mf tbh
i feel like he would want a s/o who could bite back and put him in his place every once in a while
probably finds it super hot
“tetsurou!” you yell, glaring at him.
he raises his hands in alarm, amusement and mischief swimming in his eyes. he had embarrassed you in front of the whole class, immediately correcting you when you claimed that the reaction on the board was an endothermic reaction when in reality, it was an exothermic reaction. sure, he was right, but he didn’t have to point it out like that!
“what?” he questions, “it’s not my fault you lacked docosapentaenoic acid when you were a child.” he finishes with a smug smirk on his face.
the scowl on your face morphs into a smirk at his words and his own falls at your face. “i think you mean docosahexaenoic acid, oh wise one?” you ask, sarcasm dripping from your tone.
he recovers quickly, yelling about how easy it is to mistake the two. at your laugh, he realizes just how lucky he and whipped he is for you because this? he wouldn’t trade this for the world.
Tumblr media
- iwaizumi hajime
he falls for your independence
lord knows that having to deal with oikawa practically all his life + the seijoh third years, my man would not be able to deal with a s/o who is super dependent on him
sure, he finds it cute when you’re being clingy & want a hug or a kiss but someone who constantly insecure or is just overall emotionally dependent on him - i feel like it would be a slight turnoff
now, if you feel insecure, tell him because he would also def appreciate your honesty and that wouldn’t necessarily be seen as a problem
it becomes a problem when you push all your problems onto him and expect him to fix it
but a s/o who can work out their problems on their own but still comes to him for advice and support?
yeah, he’s def in love
you hear a knock on your door and quickly move to open it, hoping it’s who you think it is.
“hey love,” hajime sighs as you usher him into your home, “i’m so sorry i’ve been so busy lately, with volleyball and all the extra applications to be able to move to the states, it’s been a lot.”
you nod, understanding written on your face. “don’t worry about it babe, i get it! do you need any help with anything?”
he shakes his head, instead choosing to wrap his arms around you, nuzzling his nose in your hair and breathing in your intoxicating scent. “being with you is enough. i really am sorry though, did you need anything?”
you shift slightly, guiding him over to the couch and cuddling up to him there, “all i need is this, hajime.”
he kisses the top of your head and while you both talk about everything and nothing, and it hits him that this is it. you’re it for him - because when he’s with you, he feels like he’s home.
Tumblr media
- miya atsumu
he falls for your unrelenting support
i think we all know that atsumu was left out a lot as a kid & i think that one of his biggest fears is that his loving s/o secretly prefers his brother like everyone else
so he probably tries to scare you off by showing his ugly side first- like constantly arguing with you or canceling dates in favor of an extra hour or two of volleyball practice- and you stay?
he realizes that no matter what, you won’t leave him
“oi! what are ya still doin’ here, slug?” osamu yells, walking into the gym.
“what do ya think? havin’ a tea party?” atsumu quips back, annoyed that his brother interrupted his practice.
osamu grabs a ball by his feet and chucks it at his brother. “do ya even know what time it is?” at atsumu’s look of confusion he decides that you’re too good for his idiot brother. “it’s already past 8, you’re late for yer movie date with y/n.”
atsumu’s eyes widen and osamu rolls his eyes at his brother’s frantic form, trying to clean up and get out of there as quickly as he can. “just go, i’ll stay to clean up.” osamu sighs, “but you owe me onigiri for a week!”
back at your house, you’re sitting on the couch, patiently waiting for your boyfriend- who’s late, again. you jump at the frantic knocks at your front door and you open it to a very sweaty, very disheveled atsumu.
“shit sorry babe! i left my phone on the bleachers and lost track of time but-” you cut him off with a kiss. his eyes widen before fluttering shut.
“go shower, tsumu- you stink!” you laugh at his scowl “we can probably still get a couple movies in before my parents get back home.”
he nods, “i really am sorry babe. i didn’t mean to come late, i just got so caught up in my serves and sets and i-”
“it’s fine love, you have to practice to get better, i understand. i would never tell you to skip out on something so important to you when you make sure to come see me in the end anyway.” you interrupt him, “and besides, i love to brag about how my boyfriend is one of the best setters in the nation” you add with a wink.
he gives you a peck on the cheek before heading towards your bathroom, thinking about how lucky he is to have you by his side. he decides that this will be the last time he’s late because god forbid he does something to ruin something as precious as this.
Tumblr media
- sakusa kiyoomi
he falls for your respectful and understanding attitude
my poor baby
probably had to deal with getting so much shit for his germophobic preferences
so when you guys started dating he def asked you to respect his boundaries
and when you did without questioning him?? or making fun of him??
he was shocked because even his own cousin would have something to say about his proclivity for extreme cleanliness
you walk into the huge stadium, eyes searching for a mop of black hair, slightly terrified of getting lost. out of the corner of your eye, you see a flash of neon green & yellow.
“komori!” you yell, hoping he could hear you over the excited chatter all around. you see him whip his head around, trying to find the source of the sound. you yell a couple more times, jumping up and down like a lunatic. he finally spots you and smiles, walking over.
“oh, hey! are you here for kiyoomi?” he asks with a mischievous glint in his eyes, already leading you over to where your boyfriend is, “but i have no clue why you would look for him in the middle of the floor. don’t you know your boyfriend by now?”
you slap him lightly on the arm but excuse yourself when you see your boyfriend hiding in the corner with the most hateful glare on his face. as you walk away and towards him, you notice komori walking over to a tall, dark-haired boy. that must be the setter omi was telling me about, you think. you brush it off, deciding you’d bring it up another time and you tap your boyfriend lightly. the glare he gives you almost makes you want to drop dead right there but you notice how his eyes soften and his overall demeanor brightens.
he pulls you towards him, surprising you and everyone watching, and mumbles into your ear, “i thought you had a tutoring session?”
you pull back slightly and notice how he leans down, practically asking for a kiss. you peck his cheek before giggling, “i wanted it to be a surprise! are you surprised? did you miss me?”
he rolls his eyes before pulling down his mask and kissing you properly. “yes and ... yes” he answers, a light blush apparent on his cheeks.
“awwww! you have a crush on me!!! no, you looove me!! that’s so embarrassing!!” you laugh and he shakes his head but silently agrees because yeah, if the permanent butterflies and erratic heartbeat are any indications, he does love you. and he doesn’t plan on stopping for the rest of your lives.

Summary: Sy catches you watching Magic Mike XXL again.
Pairing: Captain Syverson x Female Reader
Word Count: approx 1.1k
Warnings: Sy stripping, implied smut.
Authors Note: Ok, let me be clear, I’m only writing this because I love you @nashibirne and because @amberangel112 kept pestering me to do it. Plus I got to watch Magic Mike XXL again. This is very much out of my wheelhouse. It’s inspired by my husband’s reaction every time he catches me watching a Henry movie (minus the stripping of course!) He basically walks in, says something like, “Really, you’re watching this again?” then buggers off only to tease me about it later. I love him 🥰 Thanks to @amberangel112 for beta reading and assuring me it doesn’t suck as bad as I think it does. I’m still nervous as hell though. Anyway I hope you like it @nashibirne .
Original Post that started this mess
Masterlist
Magic Sy
You hear Sy’s heavy footsteps on the stairs as he appears in living room dressed for his afternoon run. You consider pausing the movie, but you weren’t quick enough.
“Hey Darlin’, I’m heading out for… Oh for fucks sake Darlin’, really?” Sy shakes his head as he recognises the movie.
“What?” you ask innocently while pressing pause, right on Joe Manganiello’s shirtless body.
“You really watching this shit again?” Sy looks at the screen, Joe body rolling to the Backstreet Boys. It was your fav scene in the whole movie. He knows it is, he must have caught you watching it a dozen times.
Trying to suppress the smile the scene never fails to put on your face you shrug. “It’s my comfort movie.”
He looks back at you, his face a little concerned. “What’s wrong?” he asks.
“I’ve got cramps, going to get my period any day now.”
Skipping back to the start of the scene, you look at what Joe is wearing in the movie and look at Sy. Your eyes widen, they are wearing nearly the same thing, a singlet top and sweat pants. You press play again and Sy stands in the middle of the room, arms folded over his chest watching. He glances at you, and you bite your tongue, trying desperately not to smile. Sy barely contains his jealousy as you watch Joe throw chips in the air and pour water over his head. Sy grunts, “He can’t even dance that good, at least the other guy can dance.”
You get an idea, you know Sy, he can never back down from a challenge. “I think he can dance really well, better than most guys,” you say, allowing your voice to sound defensive.
“Bullshit,” Sy says. “I can dance better than that.”
“Go on then,” you say quickly.
Too quickly, Sy looks at you, raising his eyebrows. He stalks over to you, grabs the remote, pausing the tv. He leans over you, caging you between his bare arms, his eyes narrow, “Is that what you want, Darlin’? You want your old man to strip for ya.”
You bite your lip, and nod, already he was turning you on far more than the movie ever could.
Sy growls, “Gimmie your phone.” You hand it to him and still holding himself over you with one hand resting on the couch, you see him open Spotify and connect to the speakers.
The first sounds of the guitar come through the speakers your eyes go wide, Sy hands your phone back, and smirking moves across the room. You shake your head but can’t stop the grin as AC/DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long plays loudly. Sy faces away from you and when the drum hits, he starts moving banging his head in time with the music, tapping the beat with his foot. He adds a hip movement, shaking his ass from side to side, lifting the back of his top above his butt, so you get a good look at his ass in his grey sweatpants.
“Oh my God!” you giggle.
Looking over his shoulder he narrows his eyes and curls his lip into a smirk, trying to do a sexy look. You cover your mouth with your hands and clench your thighs together. You can’t stop laughing but you can’t deny that he was also making you hot. You worry, Sy will think you were laughing at him, but you saw the way his cheeks creased, and you knew he was trying not to laugh himself.
Just as Brian Johnson’s voice came in Sy jumped in the air turning around to face you.
She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean…
He ran his hand down his chest while trying to body roll. You almost burst trying to hold in your laughter. He widened his stance, bending his knees like he was doing his squats for exercise, while rolling his hips.
You squeal, “Oh my God! Stop!”
Sy shook his head, slapping his thighs as you peal into laughter. He stands tall again grinning, lifting the front of his top over his head but still leaving it on. You stop laughing as he walks over to you, grabs your hand and runs it over his pecs. You weren’t laughing now, his firm furry chest always got you and you licked your lips as he made you touch him, all the way down his fuzzy trail,
Sy knew what he was doing, teasing you, he let your hand go before reaching his pants. While the chorus played, he kicked off his sneakers then pointed at you before dropping to the floor. He began to show off with one armed push ups, locking his eyes onto yours, grunting as he swaps from one arm to the other.
Still holding your gaze Sy commando crawls along the carpet to you, lip curling into a snarl, his eyes hungrily raking over your body. Your breath was coming fast as he pushes your knees apart roughly and kneels between your legs.
Gripping your ass in his hands he manhandles your body until your rapidly dampening pussy presses against him. Smiling smugly, he says, “Told ya, your old man can dance.”
“Yeah,” you say breathlessly.
“Better than that asshole?” he asks jerking his head at the tv. You feel his hips moving, creating delicious friction against your throbbing clit.
“Way better,” you pant.
Sy grabs the front of your shirt in his fist, bringing your body close, his face an inch from yours. He runs his tongue over your lips, and you moan, your hips buck against him. “Good,” Sy growls. Suddenly, he lets you go, pulling his shirt back down and putting his shoes back on.
“What the fuck Sy?” you say confused. “What are you doing?”
“Goin’ for my run,” he says casually.
You splutter, “Um, no. You can’t go now!”
“Why not?” Sy says, he stops putting his shoes on and comes back close to you, kneeling between your legs again. “You need somethin’, Darlin’?”
You nod. God, he was such an arrogant bastard sometimes, but fuck, you loved it.
“Tell me,” Sy says, he loved it when you were desperate for him, when you begged for him.
“Fuck me, Sy,” you moan, wrapping your arms around his neck and waist, grinding against him. “Please,” you pouted, teasing him yourself.
“Since you asked so nicely,” he lifted you off the couch carrying you off towards the bedroom. “I suppose I can get my cardio in this way.”

Pairing: Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
Summary: It’s no secret amongst your friends that Bakugou is overprotective of you, and has a hard time keeping his hands to himself, especially when he’s high. But sometimes, his overprotective nature and jealousy becomes too much, and he says things he doesn’t mean.
quirkless!college!au
Warning(s): this fic is 18+!!! obvious recreational drug use, language, and some nsfw content. If you are underage, this fic is not for you!
Tumblr media
It had become a running joke amongst your friends that you were corrupting your boyfriend, Bakugou. And from the outside looking in, maybe you were. Of course, they only knew the half of it.
But nonetheless, it was true that a year ago, before he met you, he wouldn’t have been caught dead getting high in Denki and Sero’s apartment, much less lighting a bowl for the pretty girl sitting in his lap.
It was still a rare occasion that Bakugou got high with you, and it never failed to give you butterflies, the way he looked at you when he did.
“What are you staring at, hm?” He asked lowly, eyes drooping lowly, as you blew smoke from your lips.
You giggled softly, already feeling the effects of the drug. “You.”
The corner of Bakugou’s mouth quirked up into a smug grin, but you didn’t miss the light blush across his cheeks at your comment.
“C’mon, lovebirds, don’t hog the smoke!” Sero called from the couch, where he was slouched lazily, shoulder to shoulder with Mina and Denki.
“Yeah, it’s bad enough you stole y/n from us, Bakugou, the least you can do is share!” Denki whined, and the rest of your friends burst into laughter.
Bakugou rolled his eyes, raising the bowl to his mouth once more. “Fuck you.”
He took another hit before passing the bowl to Kirishima, leaning forward to kiss you as he exhaled. You inhaled the smoke, lips brushing against his. Bakugou’s arms tightened around your waist, tugging you closer to him and into another kiss.
Kissing Bakugou high was an altogether different experience from when he was sober. Though he’d never admit it, your boyfriend could be a little shy when it came to PDA. But when he got high, it was nearly impossible to keep him off of you. Not that you were complaining, of course.
You pulled back for air, and Bakugou began trailing kisses along your jaw and to your neck.
“Jirou, kick Denki off aux, I wanna listen to something good!” You called to your purple haired friend.
The two of you grinned, laughing as Denki called out, “Rude!”
“Hey, that tickles!” You scrunch up your nose, laughing as Bakugou kisses feather-light across your jaw. You can feel his lips curl into a smirk before he pulls back, looking at you through glossy eyes.
You lean back, arms around his neck and fingers running through the soft hair at the nape of his neck. Bakugou watches you as your eyes travel over his face, admiring the way he looks in the low light of the room, illuminated by old fairy lights the boys had hung above the couch. You follow the shape of his brow, past his narrowed eyes and down the curve of his nose, before landing on his lips.
“You’re s’pretty, Kats,” Your voice is barely a whisper, and you’re surprised he hears it.
He huffs out a laugh, pulling you back to him by the collar of your shirt. “Dork,” He teases, kissing you lightly. Against your lips, he mutters, “I think you’re the pretty one in this relationship.”
Your heart skips a beat, cheeks flushing, and the next thing you know, Bakugou’s hands are in your hair and he’s sliding his tongue into your mouth. The conversations carrying on around you, and the music, all turn into white noise as Bakugou steals all of your attention. His lips are soft against yours, a stark comparison to his usual gruff attitude, but the way his hands come down to squeeze your thighs reminds you just who you’re dealing with.
You’re brought back to earth by a wolf whistle from Sero, and a pillow hitting the back of your head.
“Jeez, get a room, you two! It’s like the beginning of a cheap porno in here.” Mina cackles.
You erupt into a fit of giggles, ignoring the disapproving reply your boyfriend growls out. “C’mon, Mina, we’re anything but cheap.” You retort, resulting in another fit of giggles.
You grab Bakugou’s hand and give it a gentle squeeze, knowing he was annoyed that you’d been interrupted. He sighs, squeezing back, and you learn your head onto his shoulder.
The conversation turns to some show you hadn’t seen, everyone forgetting the moment between you and Bakugou, and you find yourself slowly drifting to sleep on his shoulder.
“Baby,” His mouth is right next to your ear, voice low.
“Hm?” You hum, not opening your eyes.
“Go to the kitchen, or the bathroom, or something.” He says.
You furrow your brows, confused, “What?”
“I dunno, just make up something, and I’ll meet you in five minutes.” He huffs, impatiently.
You groan, burying yourself further into his neck. “’Suki, m’tired.”
“Y/n.”
His tone makes your stomach flip, eyes shooting open. You know that voice.
You pull back, blinking up at him sleepily as he smirks at you. “Okay.”
He plants a kiss on your cheek, just beside your ear, muttering, “Good girl.”
Your cheeks flush in embarrassment, as you stand, and he laughs lightly at how easily he can make you blush.
“Where ya goin’, y/n?” Kirishima asks, just before you can make it out of the room.
“Bathroom,” You call over your shoulder, hoping you don’t sound suspicious.
The next few minutes feel much longer than they are, as you duck into the bathroom connected to Denki’s room. It’s cleaner than normal, probably because Bakugou had come over last week and forced then to clean. He cared, in his own brash, Bakugou way.
You learned against the sink, taking in your appearance in the mirror, as you waited. Your eyes were heavy, glassy and slightly red, and there was the unmistakable beginnings of a bruise on your neck from Bakugou. You leaned your head back to get a better look, laughing lightly. That was gonna turn into a gnarly hickey tomorrow.
You’re startled by your phone ringing from your pocket, but before you can answer it Bakugou has barged in and is pushing you back against the door, lips on yours. Whoever is calling is quickly forgotten as Bakugou kisses you roughly, wandering hands all over you, and thigh pressed between your legs.
You gasp slightly, mumbling his name into the kiss. His kisses are sloppier than normal, his shoulders relaxed with no trace of their normal tension. Bakugou’s hands, bigger and stronger than your own, find their way under your shirt.
“Kats,” You breathe out, when he finally lets you up for air. “Now?”
“Need you.” He groans into your neck, placing carefully targeted kisses and rubbing circles into your hip with his thumb. He knows you, probably too well, and knows just how to get what he wants.
You sigh, but before you can say something logical, he’s kissing you again.
“C’mon,” He says, in between kisses. “Those idiots are on another planet right now, they’ll never notice we’re gone.”
You doubt that, but with the way Bakugou’s pressing his hips into yours, and kissing you like it’s the air he needs to breathe, you’re hard pressed to deny him. Besides, everything has settled into a hazy fog now, and you’re not worried much about what the others will think.
He knows he’s got you, now, if his smirk is anything to go by. Bakugou starts to lead you backwards, opening the door opposite you with his free hand, his other on the small of your back. Your legs hit the edge of a bed, and Bakugou catches you before you can fall, lowering you down gently. He’s standing in between your parted legs, one hand cupping your jaw and thumb rubbing across your bottom lip. Your heart is hammering in your chest, breathing heavy. Lazily, you tug on the bottom of his shirt, and he pulls away to strip off the t-shirt. You watch, shamelessly entranced by the way his muscles ripple across his abs and chest. You’re struck again by just how attractive your boyfriend was.
Bakugou catches you staring, a smug grin spreading across his lips, and leans down. He rests his arms on either side of your head, caging you in, and is close enough that the tips of your noses touch. You feel your cheeks begin to heat up, but you refuse to back down from his stare.
“You’re not very subtle, y/n.” He says, eyes searching yours.
“Don’t have t’be,” You tell him, breathlessly, “You’re all mine.”
He grins, planting a teasing kiss at the corner of your mouth. “Damn right I am.”
He kisses the other side of your mouth, just shy of your lips, and you pout.
“What’re pouting for, hm?”
“Kiss me!”
He leans back and looks at you, feigning innocence. “I am kissing you, baby.”
“Katsuki!” You whine, struggling to get your arms around his neck.
He chuckles at your feeble attempt, clearly amused by how easily he overpowers you, but gives in nonetheless. “Okay, alright.”
Bakugou’s kisses start to get more desperate, and one hand slides down to fumble with the button of your jeans. You’re brought back to earth by your phone ringing again, and you reach for it, but Bakugou grabs your wrist to stop you, placing both your hands above your head.
He holds you arms there, with one hand. “Ignore it.” He growls out, moving back to the waistband of your pants.
You start to squirm impatiently, heat pooling at your core, and Bakugou mutters out for you to stay still. You whine into his mouth, but the reality is, you aren’t going anywhere with the grip he has on you.
Bakugou slips his hand below the waistband of your pants, frustratingly close, but not quite where you need him.
Behind him, the door slams open.
“Holy shit! Fuck you guys, not in my bed!” Denki is standing at the door, hands over his eyes, though he’s still peaking through his fingers.
You cry out in surprise, Bakugou moving to cover you, even though you’re mostly still clothed.
“You guys told us to get a room!” You yell out, face hidden in Bakugou’s chest as he buttons up your pants, face dark.
“Yeah, but not my room, you little freaks!” Denki says through laughter, hand clutching his chest.
“Get out, dunce face, before I kill you!” Bakugou shouts at him, glaring harshly.
“It’s my room, dude!”
As the two boys yell at each other, your phone goes off again, and you finally pick it up to see who’s been calling you.
“I really gotta take this, it’s work. Be right back!”
If possible, Bakugou’s mood sours more as you slip out the door and down the hallway. He knows what ‘work’ means. It means your coworker, Shinsou Hitoshi, who Bakugou couldn’t stand.
Bakugou tried his best to not let his jealousy get the best of him, usually, he really did. But something about the purple-haired barista you worked with got under his skin. Whether it was his attitude, and the fact that Shinsou clearly found it funny to tick him off, or the fact the he was friends with Deku, Bakugou didn’t know. But it was no secret he disliked the guy.
Of course, he trusted you, and you’d told him time and time again that Shinsou was only a friend. But Bakugou still wasn’t sure how he’d gotten lucky enough to have you, and he wasn’t gonna let some sleep-deprived smart ass take you away from him.
“You okay, man? Your face is about as red as my hair.” Kirishima commented, having stepped in to make sure he and Denki didn’t get into it.
“Yeah, whatever,” He muttered. “I’ll be fine.”
...
The rest of the week passed by in a blur of work, and classes, and not nearly enough time left over for you two to spend together. It was nearing finals week, so whatever time you managed to spend together was mostly spent studying, anyway.
Bakugou’s mood hadn’t improved much since that day, and of course you noticed. But you hoped he would come to you with whatever was bothering him when he was ready, without you having to push.
“Spend the night?” He asked one night, after you had spent hours studying for your chemistry final.
You sighed, shaking your head, “Can’t. Tsu’s sick, so I had to pick up some of her shifts at work for the next few days. Which means I have to open tomorrow, before class.”
Bakugou huffs in annoyance, rolling his eyes. You reach out for his hand, frowning.
“Sorry, Kats. Promise I’ll spend the night as soon as finals are over, yeah?”
“Whatever.” He replied grumpily, tugging you over to him. He pulled you in for a kiss, “Sure I can’t convince you to stay?”
You sighed, kissing him instead of answering the question. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? We’ll get lunch.”
Bakugou grunts in reply, kissing you again before you really have to leave.
You break away, squeezing his hand, “You okay?”
“Mhm,” He hums, tugging you in again. “M’fine.”
It’s clearly not the truth, you know him too well, but you don’t have time to interrogate him tonight.
The next day, you’re late to lunch. Normally, even if he was annoyed, Bakugou wouldn’t say anything. What’s ten minutes, anyway? But when you walk into the cafe with Shinsou at your side, he feels the anger boil in his chest.
You’re as cheery as ever, kissing his cheek in greeting, but Bakugou’s eyes are fixed on Shinsou.
“Sorry I’m late, ‘Suki, me and Hitoshi got to talking at work and he offered to walk me here!”
“Hey man,” Shinsou says, with a nod. “How’s it going?”
Bakugou glares for a moment longer, before turning to look at you, ignoring the other man completely. “I ordered your usual for you.”
Your smile falls at Bakugou’s rudeness, glancing open-mouthed between the two men for a moment. “Katsu-”
“Well, I guess I’ll see you at work, y/n.” Shinsou says, brow quirked. He reaches over to hug you, and you say a quick goodbye.
Once he leaves, you take your seat across from Bakugou, who’s found sudden interest in the tablecloth.
“Katsuki.” You say, trying to keep your voice low, “That was rude.”
He scoffs, refusing to meet your gaze.
You sigh, crossing your arms over your chest. “What’s wrong, then?”
“Nothing.” He mutters.
“That’s not true.” You say, matter-of-fact, “Something’s been bothering you for days.”
When he doesn’t reply, you continue, “I can’t help if I don’t know what’s wrong, love. Is it... is it me? Did I do something?”
Finally, he looks up and meets your eyes. “No.”
“Then what?” You pout, hating to see him in such a terrible mood. “Talk to me, Kats.”
It’s quiet for a moment, and despite the idle chatter that fills the cafe, this silence feels deafening.
“When did you and ‘Shitsou’ get on a first name basis?”
Your normal calm demeanor slips for a moment, a reflection of when you’d first met and snapped at Bakugou for a rude comment. “Is that what this is about? You’re jealous?” You scoff, rolling your eyes. “Are you serious, Katsuki?”
Angry red eyes meet yours, and you stiffen, readying yourself for what’s to come. Instead, Bakugou says nothing.
“What, now you aren’t talking to me?” You ask in awe.
When there’s no response, your face screws up in anger, lip curling up over your teeth.
“Whatever.” You say, getting up from your seat. “Shinsou’s nice, but he’s never been anything more than a friend. I work with him, Katsuki, and I’m not going to quit my job because you don’t trust me.”
Bakugou’s eyes widen at your accusation, panicked. That wasn’t what he thought, not at all, he did trust you. “Y/n, wait-”
But you were already walking away, sending him a hurt look over your shoulder as you went. Bakugou sunk back into his seat, face falling into his hands with a groan. “Fuck.” He cursed.
He’d really messed up.
You’re halfway to your apartment, tears long having spilt over and onto your cheeks, when a car pulled up beside you.
“Y/n?”
You wiped your face on your sleeve, embarrassed, as you turned to face your friend.
Denki has the passenger side window rolled down, concern written all over his face.
He sighs, “C’mon. Let’s get you some lunch, and then I’m going to kick Bakugou’s ass.”
Despite yourself, you let out a weak laugh, climbing into the car. “You’re gonna fight Bakugou? C’mon, Denks, you flinch every time he yells at you.”
“Hey, this isn’t about me! Jeez.” He reaches over, wiping a tear from your cheek. “What happened, y/n?”
Your frown returns, and you shrug your shoulders.
Denki leans back to his seat, driving towards your favorite fast food place. The car is quiet, radio turned so low you can just barely make out one of Jirou’s playlists.
“Do you want me to take you to Mina’s, or something? I mean, is this like... a girl talk thing?” Denki asks awkwardly, peaking at you from the corner of his eye.
You shake your head. “No, it’s fine. I have to go back to work in a couple hours, anyway.”
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
You smile, small but grateful, before shaking your head again. “Bakugou was your friend first, Denki, I don’t wanna make it weird or anything. You don’t have to choose sides. It’s not a big deal, anyway...”
“Yeah, sure, but you were my friend before you and Bakugou started dating, too. Remember? And I care about why you’re upset. Plus, me and Sero told Bakugou if he ever hurt you, we’d have to hurt him, so...”
“Denki!” You smack his arm, playfully.
“What?!” He grins, “Three musketeers, baby, we have a pact! We gotta protect our own!”
You burst into laughter at the memory of you, Denki, and Sero dubbing yourselves the ‘three musketeers’ one night when you’d all gotten a little too high.
After the two of you calm down again, you turn to him with a sigh. “Denki... do you think I’m too friendly to Shinsou?”
“Shinsou? The cute guy you work with?” Denki grins as you reach over to pinch him, “So that’s what you guys fought about? He thinks you like Shinsou?”
“I guess.”
“Well, I hate to be mushy-”
“You’re always mushy!”
“-but if Bakugou thinks you like anyone but him, he’s crazy. You guys are practically attached at the hip, it’s actually really gross.”
Denki was the perfect friend to distract you from your fight with Bakugou, and had you laughing till your stomach cramped. He also, surprisingly, gave you great advice. It wasn’t until he started driving in the direction of Bakugou’s apartment, and the opposite direction of your job, that you got suspicious.
“Denki? I have to be at work, in like, ten minutes.”
“Yeah, about that... Bakugou kind of called you out.” He flinched at the flash of anger in your eyes, “Don’t be mad! At least, not at me. Look, he called Kirishima for advice, or whatever, and he feels really bad so he wants to make it up to you, or something, I guess.”
“Oh.” You were still upset with him, so you hated to admit how sweet that actually was, especially for Bakugou. “He... called you too?”
Denki nods sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. He knew I didn’t have anything going on today, so he asked me to check up on ya.”
It was impossible to stop your little smile at that, no matter how hard you tried.
“Thank you. For checking up on me, I mean.” You told Denki, genuinely, “I really appreciate it.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know! I’m the man!” He laughed, “Seriously, though, what are best friends for? I got you, y/n. Always. And if you need me to, I’ll come back and kick Bakugou’s ass. I’m absolutely positive I can get at least one hit in, if I have the element of surprise on my side!”
“Alright, you dork, I’m getting out of the car before you start crying.” You tease.
Denki places a hand over his heart, wiping a fake tear.
You roll your eyes at your goofy friend, telling him you’ll see him later. He wishes you luck before driving off, and you’re forced to muster up the courage to face Bakugou again.
You can smell the food before you even get inside the apartment, and it’s unmistakably your favorite meal, but you expected as much. Bakugou always apologizes with food. What you didn’t expect, however, was the timid look on Bakugou’s face as you walked into the kitchen.
It was you who broke the silence first.
“Smells good in here.” You comment, rocking back on your feet.
He nods, eyes downcast. “Your favorite. It’s ready now, if you’re hungry. I mean, if you’re not, that’s...fine, I can, uh, warm it up for you later, or whatever.”
He’s rambling, and you can tell how bad he feels as soon as he mentions saving the food. Bakugou Katsuki doesn’t do leftovers.
“Katsuki.”
His eyes flash up to yours, slightly panicked, and your heart aches.
“You know I’m not gonna leave you, right? Not for Shinsou, or anyone.”
He tries to play it off, but you can see the relief flash across his face. “I know that.” He says, stiffly, before lowering his voice. “I know. And I’m sorry I was an ass.”
“Mhm. You should probably apologize to Shinsou, too.”
Bakugou’s nose scrunches up in distaste, and he scowls. “What the hell for?”
“Because! Kats, you were rude to him.”
Bakugou gives you an exasperated look, “Baby, I’m always rude to him.”
Despite how serious you were about apologizing, you couldn’t help but laugh.
“You’re hopeless, Kats. What am I gonna do with you?”
He walks forward to wrap his arms around you, smirking. “I can think of plenty of things you can do to me...”
You smack his chest, blushing. “Stop it! I’m supposed to be mad at you.”
“You know you can’t stay mad at me.” His tone is smug, but when he leans down to kiss you softly, it says everything you need to know.
“Yeah, I know.” You whisper back, sighing. “It’s only cause you know my weakness.”
He raises a brow in question, giving you an odd look.
You grin up at him, “You always apologize with food.”
Bakugou scoffs, rolling his eyes at you. “C’mon dumbass, you better eat before it gets cold.” He says, starting to make you a bowl, “You know I hate leftovers.”
You roll your eyes at him, playfully. He really was an idiot sometimes, but you loved him. “Yeah. I know.”

Warnings: 18+, characters are in their third year.

The two honor students of UA so happen to be childhood enemies. During the succession that is exams, Y/N is determined to beat Bakugou.
-
Exam season has commenced on the campus of U.A. Students woke up in a frenzied state, slightly nervous to the late night studying they’ll endure for the weeks to come. Not enough caffeine can energize them to be in complete motivation mode. A couple of students have taken the leisure of paying those to exchange notes, considering most of the questions will be going over every little detail in each subject. The exams don’t begin till next week, but a few of the honor students have already hit the books, not once indulging in a break or two till the sun sets. One of those students just so happen to be you, an inspiring young hero with the hunger for being on top of everything. Ever since middle school, teachers would constantly praise you on your performance during tests. It was no surprise to anyone when you aced the entrance exam to U.A, a remarkable score leading you closer to reaching your dream. Although your scores on every test was superb, someone else would occasionally steal the spotlight with by topping your score. That person in particular has been tailing behind you ever since middle school, another honor student who also attends U.A as well. Did you mention he also is in the same hero course as you?
Katsuki Bakugou is his name. A name that burns the tip of your tongue whenever you gave roll call alongside Iida. The man is a ball of pure fury. He exuded nothing but anger and hostility whenever he’s in a room. Despite his aggressive exterior, Katsuki is an avid academic student who manages to score excellent grades in each of his classes. For the past 3 years of attending U.A, you two are considered the star studded scholars, never once failing a test, midterm, pop quiz , you name it! Now with your hero course almost coming to an end, you were determined to at least score the highest result this exam season, leaving Bakugou in the dust with his inadequate score. Maybe have him crying in the corner would suffice the drawn out rivalry you two established. No one verbally said it was an all out war between you two, but everytime those test results are posted on the board, everyone steered clear for the both of you to silently react. Everyone awaits for the day when one of you finally snaps and start clawing at each other. But alas, only the mere exchange of a side eye and a curt nod. Deep down you do want to slap the smirk that always resides on his face during those moments, showing him you weren’t just going to let him win by smarts.
That’s why now you sit alone on the cushioned couch in the commons area, books sprawled around you like a protective barrier. You had your eyes glued to a textbook about the history of quirks and their physiology, a class in which you needed to spend studying the most for. It’s been a a few hours into your little study session, and you were beginning to feel the drag of how much you needed to actually work on. All this including your current homework and your mandatory internship studies at an agency. It was all too much to handle. So, maybe you do deserve a break.
Pushing the book aside, you stretched out your cramped up arms and sigh in relief. In the corner of your eye you spot a familiar head of ashy blonde walking into the commons room, books and notebooks crammed into his armpit while holding what seems to be an energy drink. Your eye twitched watching him plop down onto the couch across from you, never once paying attention to your presence. Katsuki then rests his bare feet on the wooden coffee table, opening one of his textbooks with the swipe of his thump. For some odd reason, this really riled you up. And it was clear Katsuki noticed too.
“Am I bothering you? Hm?” He smugly asked, eyes not wavering from the text before him.
You scoffed.
“No. Just, don’t speak while I’m trying to study okay?”
He clicked his tongue at you.
“Doesn’t seem like you’re studying to me. Looks like you’ve given up already. What gives?”
His comment made you even angrier.
“Given up? Kacchan, you’ve barely started.”
Looking up, you can see a faint vein forming against the temple of his forehead. His fists clenched tightly, crumpling the sides of the textbook. His eyes now were averted to yours. The crimson death glare, you’d call it.
“I was training with Kirishima, dumbass. So of course I couldn’t hop onto my studies earlier,” he started. Katsuki opens his energy drink with one finger, the pop of the air leaving the can satisfying to your ears, and took a swing of it. “Also, don’t ever fucking call me that. If I hear it from your mouth again I won’t hesitate to use my quirk on you.”
An intriguing idea. Usually you’d be the one to threaten your enemy, but Katsuki like always beat you to the punch.
“No thanks, I’d rather be harassed by grape juice than be blasted from the likes of you,” the taunt in your voice triggered something within Katsuki, causing him to tense up in pure anger. “Besides, I’m planning on studying all day till my eyes fall out. So don’t expect me to leave this spot.”
His smirk was soon on full display, uncrossing his legs to lean forward so he can rest his elbow on his knee.
“Oh really? Just so you know we have an early training tomorrow in preparation for our final exam. Wouldn’t want ya to, cha know, fail?” He didn’t even sound slightly concern for yourself and your future study habits, you can tell he wishes for you to fuck up your sleeping schedule to miss the important training in the morning.
“I have an alarm set on my phone so I don’t miss my beauty rest. Wouldn’t want to pass up the opportunity of kicking your ass tomorrow,” you held your mobile device triumphantly, waving it back and forth to mock him.
With the roll of his eyes, Katsuki returned back to his studies, leaving you to sadly resume as well. Before he entered the commons area, you were about to head into your dorm room to take a nap, but now you were obligated to stay put without letting him think you’re already burnt out.
Silently, you both continued on with the unspoken competition.
-
Evening struck quicker than you expected, cascading the soft glow of the painted sky through the windows, illuminating both you Katsuki in a pink hue. Thankfully, Katsuki took your words into consideration and never spoke to you during the session, giving you an easy feeling of relaxation without him making it another competition.
Already you finished your notes for advance foreign language, quirk physiology, and mathematics. So far, you were ahead of everyone else, with the exception of Katsuki. Occasionally, you’d catch yourself glancing over at him working intensively in his small corner, highlighting and jotting down every minuscule detail in his notebook. This was your first time witnessing how Katsuki studies. To your disappointment, his regime was nothing out of the ordinary. Then how the fuck does he manage to score high grades? It simply baffled you.
A stampede of footsteps was to be heard coming from the hallway leading to the commons area. After what seems to be years, you cranked your head away from your notebook to see Kirishima and the rest of the gang marching towards the direction of both you and Katsuki, who was currently shooting daggers at the group of friends. The red head was the first to speak out of the four of them.
“Aye Bakubro! Wanna skip the studying for a little and eat with us at NoodleShop?” His smile gleamed brightly, showcasing his shark incisors.
“Y/N you too! Come join us. I’ll pay!” Mina chimed in.
Noodles sounded pretty appetizing right about now. You skipped out on lunch, too engrossed on the idea of getting a head start for the exams. Now you regret the decision of leaving your stomach on empty.
But you still had so much left to do. And knowing Katsuki’s competitive nature, he wasn’t going to move an inch from his spot.
“It’s okay Mina, I uh- already ate a big meal awhile ago,” you dismissed her, patting your belly to show you were indeed, full.
As if on cue, a loud growl erupted from the depths of your stomach, the noise reverberating across the soundless space. Denki and Sero both snickered.
To your amazement, Katsuki got up from the couch and trailed over to the group, slipping on his red hoodie that was draped on the arm rest. He took a quick glimpse at you and smirked over his shoulder.
“Watch my things for me will ya, extra?” And with that they all left the area as a group.
You huffed in defeat and stared back at your jumbled pile of notes, the writing transcending from neat to sloppy text. At least you don’t have an explosive blonde sharing the same air as you for now. You reached into your bag and grabbed another textbook, this one being more heftier than the others.
“Oh well, more time for studying...” you said to yourself as you skimmed through the pages of Hero First Aid: Volume 6.
-
The beautiful spring sky soon was replaced by the expanse of darkness, the twinkle of the bright stars catching your eyes. The moon alone helped cast a sheen of light, allowing you to work in the dimly lit up space. Bakugou didn’t return to retrieve his stuff, all of which were sat untouched in a hasty mess. You figure him and the rest of the gang would have been back on campus by now, but everyone in class 1-A have locked themselves in their dorms since lights out will commence in a few. Aizawa has yet to prohibit you from staying past the curfew. As long as you don’t go running among the halls like a lunatic and stay strictly to studying, he’s all game. And that’s exactly what you did.
A couple of students murmured as they passed by you, saying things like “Does she ever have a life” or “All she does is study...no wonder no one has asked her out yet”. As much as the comments sting, you knew they weren’t true to your heart. Last year, someone in class 2-B formally asked you to the dance. To their dismay, you rejected them on the spot. Only because you didn’t have time to date or talk romantically with anyone. It’s a distraction to both your education and future career.
Okay, so maybe they were partially correct. At least you had your first kiss before entering U.A? But the person who stole your kiss was obligated to do so, after being dared by their fellow acquaintances. Nothing more beyond that have you explored with another person.
Submerged in your own thoughts, you didn’t notice the presence of the angry blonde, hands stuffed in the pockets of his hoodie as he strolled to the couch that had all his materials. He began to gather his things when suddenly he freezes, remembering what you said about not moving an inch from your spot. He’s astonished to see you cemented on the same couch, in the same position, notes blanketing your thighs along with the pile books pooling at the edge.
You really are determined to beat him, he thought. Bakugou can’t deny he’s impressed with your ambition and drive to be the best among your peers, even if that means sacrificing basic human needs. Like food and sleep.
Although, looking at you right now in this state, with your eyes threatening to close shut, mouth slightly agape, and hair bunched up in a tight knot, it’s clear you were exhausted. He spoke without realizing it.
“Hey dumbass! The fuck you still doing here, huh? It’s almost lights out.”
His brooding voice startled you awake, causing the papers on your lap to spill on the carpeted floor. Bakugou coughed out a low chuckle, amused by how the mere sound of his voice scares you.
“Oh it’s just you,” you said, disregarding how that could easily irritate him.
“Yeah, it’s me. Anyway you should be getting rest. You’re smart enough to know that, idiot.”
Even though it was a subtle backhanded compliment, you couldn’t help but to appreciate him acknowledging your intellect.
“I can’t. I have to go over my flash cards for mathematics and then finish this week’s homework for tomorrow—.”
“Holy fucking shit shut up. Don’t you realize what you’re doing to yourself right now?” When you didn’t answer, Bakugou slapped his forehead. “You’re gonna burn yourself out dumbass! Then you won’t have any motivation left to study for when the exams are actually starting.”
Stunned, you watch as Bakugou stomps over to where you’re sitting at, crimson eyes never leaving yours. He then props his leg on the cushion next to your trembling thighs, out stretching his arm to grab ahold of something. Too focused on the proximity between you two, it didn’t register that he swiped your flash cards from your hands. What is wrong with him? Does he want to sabotage you this badly before exams?
“Bakugou! Give those back! I need them for my exam on Monday!” you ignored how whiny you sounded, not wanting to give Katsuki the satisfaction he thinks he deserves.
“You really think whining like a bitch will make me hand these over? Think again, dumb-.”
You cut him off with a surprise attack, shoving his entire body to the ground with the force of yours. Bakugou’s arms were pinned above him as you tried to pry the flash cards from his death grip on them. Stubbornly, he wiggles his body to keep you from reaching his arms, almost knocking you off his torso like a bull. Looking down, both of you were in a compromising position. Straddling his hips while he laid lifelessly underneath you, panting like a feral dog. You tried to keep the heat from spreading throughout your body as you felt his groin rub against your sex, but failed tremendously when he can obviously see the prominent blush creeping on your cheeks.
“What the fuck was that all about?! Why are you so adamant about beating me so much!” He yelled directly in your face.
A question that neither of you knew the answer to. Why were you so determined to destroy Bakugou? Shouldn’t a fellow honor student be happy that another is also making their education a main priority? Or maybe there is another underlying reason, something deeper under the dermis of your skin that you couldn’t quite reach.
You further the distance away from his face by leaning backwards, eventually hitting the front of his thighs and kneecaps.
“You don’t understand. I have to be good at everything. I need this in order to be the hero I’ve been wanting to be. Even if that means neglecting my own needs...” you paused, unsure if Bakugou was even listening anymore. “That is, until you came along and ruined everything.”
“Hah?!” His reaction was incredulous.
“Don’t “Hah” me! It’s been your plan all along since middle school to top me at everything. So why me?!”
“Well maybe it’s because I’ve always looked up to you dumbass! Have you ever considered that!”
The words tumbled out of his throat as if he’s been holding off on the sentiment. Bakugou Katsuki, the abrasive yet studious boy, just so happens to admire you? Never it occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, you also strived to be the absolute best solely because of him. The way he strides into a battle with confidence, not an ounce of doubt that he’ll lose. His diabolical strategies that somehow works out in the end. Or the way how underneath that rough exterior, he believes he’ll be the one left climbing to the top, along with his peers. It’s his sticky pride that kept the rivalry between you two so alive. But was it really a rivalry after all this time?
Eyes widen at the confession, you stay frozen on his lap, fingers bunching up the top half of his hoodie. The silence broke Katsuki. For once, he wanted you to at least admit it, that you were also in the same boat as he is right now. So, he hesitantly reaches out and rests his palm against your flushed face, basking in at your sudden reaction to him touching you.
“Why does everything have to be a competition between us?” His soft spoken voice was uncharacteristic for him, you were so used to his gravelly tone after years of being the victim to it.
You felt the traces of his warm finger tips tickling lines on your outer cheek, as if he’s done this before.
“Isn’t that our dynamic? Competitive enemies?” The comment made him quirk an eyebrow at you.
“Enemies? You were never one in my eyes in the first place...” He trailed off, getting distracted by how close you’ve gotten to his face. To his lips.
“Then, what am I to you?” you leaned in closer, hoping to catch a glimpse of something in his eyes. You took notice that his pupils were dilated, making his eyes darker than usual. The hand rubbing lines on your cheek snaked around behind your head, taking full comfort on the base of your neck. The feeling was quite foreign to you. How long you yearned till days on end for someone to touch you tenderly like this. Especially from someone like Katsuki Bakugou.
“Does this answer your question.” Was all he said before smashing his lips to mount yours, the sudden contact making you shiver in his arms.
You felt him breathe out in surprise against your mouth when you took the initiative by swiping your tongue on his bottom lip. The kiss was exquisitely slow and intense. So intense that Bakugou forgot where he even was at the moment, too engulfed at the texture of your tongue asking for entrance. The fingers digging into the back of your neck started to hurt, but you didn’t mind the pain, the pleasure overwhelming all your senses. You can hear the harsh undertones of his breathing every time you slightly moved the lower half of your body.
“Stop moving, idiot,” he said breathlessly.
He knew he was fucked by seeing the smirk forming on your lips.
“Oh, you mean like this?” You then grind your hips in a harsh motion, relishing in the bashful look on Katsuki’s face.
He let his hands go freely, attaching themselves on both sides of your hips, grounding you to stop altogether. He sat in an upright position, encasing you between his legs and hard chest, your legs wrapping around his torso. Any other time it’d be comforting, but right now you felt like a bird trapped in a cage.
“Who knew the good girl would be so disobedient? Kind of hot not gonna lie.” He bent his head to where it was directly hovering over the sensitive spot on your collarbone. “Even when we’re just making out, you have to make everything a goddamn competition huh?”
A gasp left your throat once his tongue licked a clean strip on the surface. He chuckled, loving the feeling of you squirming in his muscular arms and continued the attack on your skin. His feather-like kisses switched to full on feverish sucking and biting. He proceeded to suck on the area, letting go with a definite ‘pop’, then returned back by making out on the bruised skin.
The combination of his tongue, the death grip on your hip, and the bulge protruding from his loose sweatpants was too much stimulation already. Before you knew it, Katsuki abruptly stood up from the floor, along with you, and placed you back on the plush couch. Your legs were wide open, giving him a good view of your white panties beneath the school skirt. You clamped your legs together after seeing the blonde lick his lips at the sight.
“D-Don’t be such a pervert,” you squeaked out.
That didn’t stop him from slipping his hand in between the crack of your legs, spreading them wider than before.
“Stop lying to yourself. You’ve imagined me between these thighs haven’t you?” The silence following his question was enough to suffice him. “Such a naughty girl.” Those crimson eyes stared straight ahead as he tugged your panties down a notch.
Here?! Right now? Why couldn’t he reside both of you in his dorm? It was literally at the end of the hallway. Plus, the thought of your teacher, Aizawa, catching you would be mortifying.
Your hand quickly latched itself around Katsuki’s forearm, halting him from proceeding his lustrous actions.
“What are you doing?! We could get caught you idiot!”
Katsuki grins and says, “You’re right. We need to find a way to shut you up.” Without preamble, he practically ripped the thin panties with sheer ferocity, causing you to yelp. You were about to scold him for ruining your favorite pair when said panties got shoved into your open mouth. “Remember, don’t want to get us caught right? Now be the good girl like you are and stay quiet for me.” Obediently you nodded at his order and prayed that whatever he’s going to do to you won’t be too much.
Katsuki hummed, obviously pleased at how well you’re going along with this. He wonders how far you’ll go till you break. With the swipe of his tongue, Katsuki dragged it up and down on the opening of your drenched sex. You mewled at the new sensation, legs already trembling as he his own salvia covered your folds. He bit and nibbled on the sweet spot, the clit, and lapped a few lazy strokes with his pointer finger in circular motions. Before you could stop him, he inserted the lubricant finger into your hole slowly, pumping it a couple of times to get you loosened up. Muffled moans perked up the ears of Katsuki. Looking up, he saw the beautiful sight of your eyes rolled behind your head along with the familiar tint of red on your cheeks. Just like the secretive slut you truly are, you swayed your hips to create more friction. Katsuki acknowledged your needy movements and dipped his head between your legs again, returning back to kissing your sex open mouthed. The lewd noises of him sucking on your wetness elicited a long drawn out moan from you, making Katsuki’s own cock twitch at the glorious sound.
“You’re so fucking cute like this. Almost coming from just my tongue and fingers. Fucking slut,” he said between suctions. “God, what were we thinking...we could’ve just resolved our issues like this every time.”
You grabbed a handful of his spiked up hair and raised his head away from your lower region. While doing so, you spit out the soaked clothed panty from your mouth, letting it drift off to the floor.
“Just s-shut up and do something about m-me,” you manage to croak out. You flicked your eyes on Katsuki and to the hand buried inside your skirt.
“Ah, want more than just my fingers? Could’ve just said so. Why are you being so quiet with your needy demands, babe?”
This newfound nickname plucked a heart sting within you. You shook off his snarky comment and stood up from the couch. If it’s a competition he wants, then it’s a competition he’ll get.
“Take off your pants and sit on the couch.”
Craning his head back, his own roar of a laughter bounced across the quiet room. Laughter dying down, his expression changed seeing how serious you actually were.
“Tch. Whatever you say dumbass. Don’t want you to explode on me now.”
He did as you said and removed the article of clothing, leaving him in nothing but his red boxer briefs. The bulge grew bigger the longer you stared at it. He laid back on the plush cushion and rested his arms behind his head.
“Alright, I’m waiting Y/N,” he taunted you.
One by one, you unbutton your school uniform and let it fall off your shoulders, along with your plaid skirt pooling at your ankles. Arms crossed on your chest you tower over Katsuki, who was surprisingly not staring at your goods, but your eyes. Beckoning you forward with his glare, you straddle him immediately, hands resting on his broad shoulders.
My, all these years of being in the same class and never once did you take advantage of appreciating how chiseled he looked in his hero costume. Sometimes you’d glance his way or pretend to be busy, but really, you wanted to see him in action. The way how his muscles would contract with each swing or punch. It was enough to make a girl swoon. Now you were swooning for sure. On his lap to be precise.
“Oi, you gonna do something nerd? My cock isn’t going to finish off itself.” His voice snapped you back to reality.
It took a few minutes, but you were finally hovering over the tip of his throbbing member, the glistening of his pre-cum coating your fingers. You teased him by rubbing just the tip against your entrance, lubricating the member even more. He tried to muffle his whines, but failed tremendously after feeling his tip graze your sex. Both of you were heavily now, anticipation radiating off of your sweaty bodies. Tenderly, you kissed him open mouth while sheathing yourself on his cock.
“Holy shit, holy fuck fuck fuck,” the vulgar words spilled from his mouth against yours as you bottomed out. You stayed in that position. Still unsure what to do and what you got yourself into. Pretty sure you’re torturing Katsuki by the minute.
“F-Fucking move," He growled in your ear.
Leaning in closer you whisper, “You have to beg for it then.” You nibbled the loose skin on the bottom of his ear and tugged it gently.
“Hell no! God-fucking-damnit don’t make this a competition right now Y/N.” The palm of his abnormally large hand pushed your face away from his. You giggled.
“C’mon Bakugou, there’s no harm in it. Just say please?”
“Fuck you shitty woman...”
“That’s not begging,” you pouted.
He pursed his lips. Bakugou admittedly is getting more turned on by the minute, and not just because you were practically inside him.
“P-Please fucking move. I w-want you to fuck me so bad you have no idea. Please Y/N...”
Smiling, you raised your hips to where the veins on the side of his member scraped the walls within you. It made your cunt twitch in pure ecstasy. Slowly, you lowered yourself back down, only this time you weren’t stagnant. You repeated the same vertical movements, clashing your hips with his. Bakugou titled his head back on the couch, degrading sentiments leaving his mouth as his hands grasped the sweaty flesh of your ass, squeezing it harshly every time you bounced on his dick. The tip of his member taking your breath away as it prodded the spongy walls.
“Yes- oh fuck yes. Ngh, keep doing that. Yeah like that. Hah-fuck, don’t stop,” he said between the constant panting.
Due to your rapid bouncing, your boobs were flailing in the air, occasionally hitting Bakugou in the face. Katsuki took matters into his own hands and latched his mouth around one of your perked nipples. You squealed at the sudden sensation.
“B-Bakugou...don’t do that...it’ll make me come faster,” you moaned as he grazed his teeth on your taut nipple.
For revenge, he tugged back the areola till it reached a few centimeters from your chest. Painful yes, but you couldn’t deny it felt amazing. He quickly let go and returned to sucking on the tit, lathering it up with his own spit. All the while you were riding him till the muscles and tendons in your legs gave out. Steadying your hands on his shoulders, you grounded on your knees to give yourself a better leverage. Feeling touch starved, Bakugou shoved your hands from his shoulders and laced his fingers between them. Like a missing puzzle piece, you fit in perfectly with him. Everything about you was perfection. You defined it. Sitting here watching as you take him well, physically or not, he was completely enamored by the mere sight of you. He craned his head to brush just the tip of your nose. A nose he unmistakably mentally captured because he loved the feature so much.
Although, he couldn’t think straight after that once you bottomed out again and rolled your hips in tune to his panting. You made a mess out of the aggressive blonde. Each time you swayed your body to the side he’d grunt out a low moan, trying to contain his usual loud profanities from waking up your classmates. Bakugou reached down and teasingly rubbed the sensitive bud, getting revenge for all the times you’ve pissed him off. Under your breath, you moaned out his last name.
“Say my name,” he grunted, hands continuing to expertly work on you from below.
Confused, you obeyed and moaned, “Bakugou!”
Suddenly, a painful sting sparked throughout your lower back. Eyes glued shut due to the searing pain, you whimper feeling a calloused hand smooth over the spot on your ass.
Katsuki spanked you. And you liked it.
“My actual name, dumbass. I wanna hear it coming from your mouth.”
With a thrust, you continue moving up and down on his cock, never once missing a beat.
“K-...Katsuki. Katsuki-Katsuki...” his name sounded ethereal, as if he was a higher being.
Katsuki returned the favor and fisted your hair in a tight knot, your scalp screaming at how harsh he was pulling.
“That’s a good girl.”
With a playful slap to your behind, Katsuki roughly shoves you to mount his lips again. Lips parted, both of your tongues twisted against each other, sharing a decent amount of saliva. He slipped out and pecked your lips a few times before biting down on your bottom lip. It didn’t hurt like all the times he inflicted pain on you previously. But this time you swore you felt the trickle of blood trailing down to your chin. The coppery taste infiltrating your taste buds only increased your arousal. What a masochist.
Bakugou noticed the pacing of your movements decreasing, indicating you are already feeling worn out, and steadied his hands onto your hips.
“Just let me do the work here, dumbass,” he said as he thrusted sharply into your womb, causing you to whimper into his neck. “I’ll take good care of you. You deserve a break from studying after all.”
-
You woke up feeling dizzy and fatigued, body aching from your toes to your head. From what you can remember, you were in the middle of studying when...
Katsuki happened.
Then you realized you weren’t in the commons area anymore. Somehow, you were laying in a medium sized bed, covers strewn over your naked body, along with a muscular arm draped across your torso. To your side you can see a passed out Katsuki snoring quietly into his pillow. Even when he’s asleep, he still looks angry.
Jolting upright, you carefully pry his arm from your body. No prevail. He’s got a strong hold on you.
He shuffled in his sleep and tightened his grip around you.
“Mmm...not leaving...stay a little longer,” he mumbled.
You rolled your eyes. “We both can’t walk out of your dorm in the morning. People will get suspicious of us. Not to mention Aizawa,” you retorted back.
“Oh? Don’t like the idea of ‘us’ huh? That’s not what you said last night.”
You didn’t need to look to know he was wearing his infamous shit eating smirk.
“Shut up.”
For the first time you heard Katsuki genuinely laugh without forcing it. You looked over and saw his eyes wide open now, staring at nothing but you.
“Whatever, you love me Y/N.”
“I DO NOT!”
Grabbing your face with his rough hands, he pressed a tender kiss to your lips.
“Go to fucking sleep nerd, we have a pre-exam in a few hours.”

(You can obviously tell I got lazy at the end LMFAO. This has been in my drafts for a LONG time. Also, this isn’t edited so please excuse the horrendous text that is this post. Xoxo)

Hello, Hello!
Soo, a few days back, I had shared a post asking for some BBRae AU fanfiction recommendations, so, let's put the fact aside that it didn't really help... but now, I'm here to share some stories that I've read, and I recommend reading!
So, this list only consists of AU (Alternate Universe) stories where they aren't superheroes, so you can skip it if you want ^^
So... I won't rank them, because I think every story is amazing, (and I'm pretty easy to please,) so, I'm just assorting them as I keep collecting the links :) Also, I'll try my best to review the stories without giving away any spoilers...
Firstly, there are too many good fics to count, but here I am mentioning the ones which stood up in my mental folder. (Also, it only includes completed stories.)
This list includes all types of stories, high school, co-workers, roommates and all... the ratings are between T-M.
Tumblr media
(Links lead to stories on Fanfiction.net.)
The Butterfly Effect -by Light NS | Rated M for semi-sexually explicit material and topics of depression and suicide.
This story definitely comes in my top-5 list blindly, and it deserves so much more! The story is about Gar and Raven, who are adults now... and let's just say there are far too many coincidences in this one! It's a lovely story with also a healthy amount of tension... because, I personally believe it can't be BBRae without some arguments *shruggs*. You should definitely check it out if you haven't already!!
Broken -by LightNS | Rated T
Oofff... okay, so this story is actually one of the first BBRae stories I've read and it's really close to my heart...
First of all, I want to say that the characters in this story are freakishly accurate. I mean, the personalities are on-point. In this story, the Titans are high schoolers, but this isn't exactly a high school romance kinda book. To be honest, this isn't exactly a romance book..(?) It's more like an action/thriller... And... it isn't heavily a BBRae book... I mean, yeah, it is based on those two characters, and Gar spends most of his time crushing on her... but, y'know, it's a book that shows both of them growing... and learning about each other -and themselves.
The writer does an amazing job to portray the character's feelings and personalities, and I'm sure her writing won't disappoint you.
The only drawback this story has is... well, it has a discontinued sequel named "Glass", so, it's kinda sad that, I mean, I've fallen in love with those characters... but, they don't really have a happy ending soo…
This writer is also on Tumblr, @lightns881 , so you can also visit her blog and support her!
By the way, there're also really great BBRae communities to be found on Fanfiction.net and you can check them out for more fun stuff to read. The ones I thoroughly recommend are:
"Best Of BBRae" which basically has all the goodness, IU and AU (but, it's a bit old so... you might not see newer fics there.); and
"Best Of BBRae AU's" which is a collection of one of the best AU stories.
Moving on...
Everything Has Changed -by Chibi 1309 | Rated M for Mature themes and language.
This story also comes in my beloved top-5 list!!
I don't really know what to say about this story without ruining it, but if you're on the lookout for an adult Titans BBRae fic, this is definitely your stop. Well, let me just say that, Gar and Rachel are best friends, a troupe I personally adore, and they live together in an apartment in Jump City.
This story has a lot... I mean, A LOT of feels, and the writer... *chef kiss* She really knows what she's doing. May it be the setting, the characters, the emotions... the author could deliver it wonderfully.
It also has a lot of other Titan members, so I like the fact that it also gives us an insight on what's going on in their lives too, rather than just Gar and Rachel.
Hands up in surrender, I won't say anything else, because I don't trust my mouth (or fingers), but this work is definitely a must read.
"Spy vs Spy" by Caitastrophe8499 | Rated M for mature themes, violence, and adult situations.
This... is a masterpiece people. You should definitely read it... like RIGHT NOW!
In this story, Gar and Rae are from rival agencies, Doom Patrol and Titans, and as fate has it, they're forced to work together. Neither of them are happy about it, because of each other's cocky and standoffish attitude and as both of them work best solo... and also... both of them hate each other... at first. This book, it includes lots of action, and if you knew me, you'll know that I am a sucker for crime and thriller. I mean, this story in itself is so great, it could be adapted into an ACTION MOVIE!! Or maybe a graphic novel to start with. :)
And what's best about it is, it doesn't only show two people romance each other, it shows a group of people working together to catch a deadly villain. I won't say much more to build suspense, but all I'll say is, it's entertaining, spicy, and the character dynamic fit perfectly with their relationship and situation, and if you haven't read it, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!! CHECK IT OUT NOW!! This will probably be one of the best recommendations of your life.
Assuming -by magisterquinn | Rated T
This is a feel good, light-hearted BBRae story that I very much enjoyed. So, basically, it's about Raven (or is it Rachel, I forget), and how the (dashingly handsome and) annoying employee won't leave her alone. She also gets a series of mail that sparks her interest, and I don't trust myself to say more without spoiling it.
Magisterquinn, the author, has an amazing collection of the BBRae (AU) stories they've written, "Chivalry Isn't Dead", "Making Mr.Right" (a must read) and "In Paris" to name a few, so, I definitely recommend checking out their profile for amazing and clever reads.
The Malchior Widow -by beautifulpurpleflame | Rated M
...this story...all I wanna say is... if you haven't read it, you're missing out on something wonderful in your fangirl(/boy) life.
This story is based on my favorite troupe, which is where all Gar wants is for Raven to open up to him. It's like, Raven is a reserved, "untouchable" person, and Gar, being Gar... feels an urge to talk to her. After many, many attempts, when Gar finally talks to her, his friends are like, "How'd you get her to talk?" or "How's she open up to you?" and the response is, "No one's ever even tried before."
"The Malchior Widow" goes at a satisfying, feel-good pace... and it's one hell of a journey. I mean, as the title suggests, Raven's a widow, and she isn't exactly open to the possibility of loving... or trusting someone else yet. It shows not only both of them falling in love... but also understanding, knowing, and learning to trust each other.
Another good AU story by Beautifulpurpleflame is "The Beach House", so you can also read that.
Honorary mention::
"How To Save Her Life" (Rated T) by "Beautifulpurpleflame"
If you're looking for a wholesome, toe-curling good, filled with feels, amazing, awesome, family Titans BBRae story... this book will give you everything... or any of Beautifulpurpleflame's stories really...
I mean, that girl... is a legend... Her stories are so great.. just... I'm speechless
Don't forget to check 'em out.
You can also follow this amazing writer on Tumblr, @beautifulpurpleflame , and show her some love and support.
Okay, another story... Now this may be considered cheating, as I'm only including completed stories... but I couldn't stop myself from not mentioning this story...
Nevermore Records -by LilyTimbers | Rated T
According to the author, only one chapter and an epilogue is left... so, I guess we could wave it off with a yellow flag?
I, myself, can't go on a single day without music. And the idea of my favorite team of superheroes... being a Rock Band..? Boy, ya' don't gotta tell me twice!
This is a slow burn story, which includes Gar in his mid-twenties, along with the other Titans (except Raven), being a part of a Rock Band, which plays gigs at different places just as a side hobby. But, as they have real talent, they get a once in a life-time chance to be an officially labeled band, they're ought to be super hit. Here, we also see some other Titans, which is a real sight for sore eyes sometimes... But, just being good doesn't mean that everything's out for them in a gold platter. The team itself faces lots of challenges which is, truth be told, really entertaining. And the fact that Gar's love interest is his own manager? Oooh... you're up for a real good ride...
I'll keep the rest of the reading to you... and believe me, the story is waaay better than my small review.
The author is also an amazing artist, and has many beautiful BBRae fanarts on her Tumblr profile @lilytimbers , so you can follow her for updates! (though tbh I think you already do... but I felt like saying it, soo...)
If you're also a sucker for musical band based BBRae story, don't forget to check out
Harmony -by Kid Walker | Rated M
Here, Raven joins a singing group which does covers, and quite willingly, she can't seem to keep her eyes off of their leader/director, Gar Logan... and looks like he can't either. It's an amazing story, and I believe you'll really enjoy reading it!
(The story itself is complete, just some extra bonus chapters that the Author posts are yet to be updated, so I guess this story qualifies.)
.
There is also a huge collection of amazing BBRae AU stories on Wattpad, too many to count, but here are two stories that I remember... and had a good time reading...
(On Wattpad only: (and only completed ones.))
High School -by anssoftball94
Soo... as you might've guessed from the title, here Gar and Rae are high schoolers. They live together with Rick (Dick/Robin), Kory and Vic in the Tower. I guess we could call it a slow burn, and what I enjoy is it also has the other Titans in a satisfying amount.
What I love about this story is that Gar and Rae don't just jump into a romantic relationship (like most teens do, I'm just sayin'!) and start a romance, no. In this story, first, they understand each other... and in a subtle manner, fall for each other. It's a really sweet and practical story, and I really enjoyed it... (even though I had to wait for the ending for decades!!)
Just one thing that makes this story a bit weird is that instead of "Gar" or "Garfield", Beast Boy is mentioned as "Logan" throughout the whole story... so... it was a bit... y'know? *shruggs*. But otherwise it's a must read.
A+ -by NikolaDabrowska
This story, to be honest, will definitely qualify as a cliché high school romance, "popular basketball kid falls for introverted bookworm nerd", but I really enjoyed reading it.
I mean like, you know what they say about Disney Classics, right? Even though we've read Beauty and The Beast or Snow White, we still like to watch the movies..? This story's like that.
Even though the troupe is kinda cliché, the story itself is executed in a very engaging manner, with interesting character dynamics and some original plots, so, I would definitely recommend reading it. (I, myself, have read it more than five times...)
.
.
.
So, that was a list of the BBRae AU stories that I highly recommend! There are more amazing (and incomplete) stories out there to read, but these are just the ones I've thoroughly enjoyed (and remembered.)
Also, feel free to share your BBRae story, if you have written any, and I'll happily read and support your story!!
Happy Reading!
Quick endnote, if you've read this post till here, do me a favor and check out my stories too! ;)
On Fanfiction.net and Wattpad.
All of my stories are complete, instead of "Tease Is Just The Cover" on FF.net (which I don't think I'm gonna work on any time soon), so feel free to check 'em out!
Sorry for the advertising, but I also want an audience y'know?
THANK YOU! And I hope you have a good day/evening/night ahead!

Forget Him *PART ONE* (Izzy Stradlin)
Tumblr media
Forget Him Part Two
Izzy Stradlin x Reader
Sad fluff (not really much fluff in this part)
WARNINGS: profanities, abusive relationship, physical abuse, mental abuse
Word Count: 1,758
PART ONE
Y/N’s POV:
I was sitting in the living room of Izzy’s apartment, hanging out with the boys. And my boyfriend, Greg. If I was being honest I hated hanging out with greg. He made me uncomfortable constantly. In the beginning of our relationship he was really sweet. He spent time with me on the weekends, told me how important I was to him, and sometimes spoiled me a bit. Material things don’t mean a lot to me but I still thought it was kind of him. At first he really was the perfect boyfriend. Then it all went downhill.
I still remember the first night that started it all.
~flashback~
Greg and I were sitting in my apartment watching tv and cuddling when he started kissing my neck. I didn’t think much about it because we had made out before and he did that sometimes when we made out, but this time was different. He trailed his hand up my leg and started tugging at my pants in an effort to take them off. I stopped him and he looked at me confused. “Greg I’m sorry I uh...I’m a virgin and I...I don’t think I’m ready.” Greg huffed and looked at me. “Are you serious right now? After all I do for you and you’re gonna say ‘I’m not ready’?” He said it in a taunting voice. That was the first time I ever felt unsafe around Greg. “Greg I’m sorry I just don’t want to do that right now.” I said and stood up, moving away from him slightly. “Fuck you Y/N! Come here right now.” He literally chased me around my apartment until I threatened him with a police call. “Gregory Connar Philips I will call the police on you!” I yelled at him. His eyes widened and he looked worried. “Fine.” He slumped onto my couch and I couldn’t believe what had just happened. “I think it’s best you leave.” I whispered. He stood up and walked over to the door. After grabbing his jacket off the coat rack he opened the door and began to walk out. Right when I thought I was safe he turned to me and whisper-yelled, “If you tell anyone about this you will regret it. I will find out Y/N. I’m not stupid, unlike you.” And with that he slammed the door in my face. I couldn’t sleep that night. I wanted to die. I cried the entire night and contemplated what he said.
*End of flashback*
The next few weeks weren’t any different. Greg would come over to my house and the only way I got him to leave was by threatening him with the police. It was true I wasn’t ready. As long as I was with Greg, I never would be. I always loved my best friend Izzy. He was one for me. I was too scared to ask Izzy if he felt the same, and he never made a move. So eventually I met Greg and I liked him so I settled for him. I shouldn’t have done that though. Greg never layed a finger on me thankfully. Of course that changed though, two weeks ago actually.
~flashback~
“Greg please stop yelling at me!” I yelled. I had sat on the couch crying for the past two hours. Greg had been yelling and cussing at me about not wanting to have sex with him. I fucking hated Greg at this point. All the love I had ever felt for him, if any, was gone. Then it happened. Greg lifted his right arm and I looked up at him. He wouldn’t hit me, right? Well I was wrong. His hand came down at an extremely fast speed and hit me in the face. My face was stinging and tears were now running down my face at an immensely fast pace. I looked up at Greg and he smiled devilishly. “Don’t fucking yell at me little girl.” He spat. He pointed his finger in my face and walked into another part of the house. I wasn’t at my house so I decided I would leave. I walked to the door and opened it, but Greg shut it. “You’re not going anywhere. We don’t need you telling anyone about this do we?” I didn’t answer. I just looked at him shocked. “Do we?” He yelled. I shook my head no. After that I stayed at his house for the night. I slept on the couch that night.
*End of flashback*
After that I think Greg felt more comfortable with hitting me because he did it often. The worst so far was the black eye that I had currently. I didn’t want the boys to see it so I covered it up with makeup. I wanted to tell the boys about what Greg did but I was scared. Greg draped his arm around my shoulders and I shifted uncomfortably. Izzy and Slash were sitting on a couch opposite of me and Greg. I felt Greg’s hot breath on my ear and I shuttered. “You look very good tonight doll. What do you say we ditch these guys and go have some fun?” He whispered. He was seriously doing this in front of people?! “I’m alright. Thanks though.” I said loudly enough so the boys could hear. Greg gave me a death glare and I suddenly knew I had messed up. How bad would the punishment be this time? Izzy looked at me and raised his eyebrows. I shot him a small smile and looked down. Greg put his hand on my knee. Here we go again.
Izzy’s POV:
I looked over at Y/N as she shifted uncoftably. Greg whispered something in her ear and she declined it politely. I saw the look Greg gave her afterward and it made me think. What could he have said to her? I looked at her and raised my eyebrows, but she just smiled and looked down. I shrugged it off and continued to joke around with the guys.
*Time Skip*
It had been an hour since the Greg incident happened. I thought that was the end of it but then it happened again. And again. And again. I was starting to get upset with Greg. He was a complete asshole whenever I talked to him and Y/N seemed to be uncomfortable around him. As much as I didn’t wanna admit it I loved Y/N. We had been best friends for a while and I had developed feelings for her. I never had the guts to ask her out though. Then she found Greg and I had no chance. Greg wasn’t like me at all. He was some rich momma’s boy that played golf on the weekends. I was some weird ass rocker that played with their band on the weekends. I had watched Y/N become more uncomfortable by the minute over the past hour and I was done with it. I walked into the kitchen to find Axl and Duff. “Hey guys can I ask you something?” I whispered. “Ya just did dipshit but sure, give it a shot.” Duff spoke. “Have you guys noticed anything off about Y/N? Like, doesn’t she seem uncomfortable around Greg?” Axl and Duff both shot glances at Y/N and Greg. “Nah man. I think they’re fine.” Axl said. I leaned on the counter and sighed. “Alright.” I whispered. I watched Greg and Y/N for the next little while. It sounds creepy, but I wanted to make sure she was ok. I decided to sit in the chair next to them. I acted like I wasn’t paying attention, but I was snooping. I knew it was wrong to listen to their conversation, but I couldn’t help it. “Y/N you’re going to sleep with me tonight.” Greg whispered. What the hell is he talking about? “Greg, I told you I’m not ready for that. Please don’t do this in front of people. I don’t want it to get out of hand.” She pleaded. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. As much as my heart was hurting hearing the conversation I continued to listen. “Y/N I’m done with your bullshit. Tonight is the night or you will regret it.” His hand formed a fist in his lap and she frowned. “Can we please just talk about-” He cut her off. “No. No more talking Y/N!” His voice was now loud enough for everyone to hear. The boys turned their heads towards the couple and Y/N looked around. Greg’s eyes, however, stayed on Y/N the entire time. A single tear escaped her eye and coursed down her cheek. Greg stood up and looked down at Y/N. “Greg, please don’t do this right now please!” She choked out. It was obvious she was about to start crying and I had to do something. I looked at all the boys and they looked at me. “Hey Greg take a seat buddy. We can figure this out whatever it is.” Slash said in a hushed voice. “Shut up mop head.” Greg said and grabbed Y/N’s arm. “You are going to wish you didn’t do this Y/N.” He began dragging her down the hallway and Axl chased after. “Hey man I’m sorry but you can’t go back there we are uh..remodeling.” Axl stood in the hallway in front of Y/N and Greg to block their way. I could hear Y/N crying as Greg dragged her back down the hallway to the living room. “Greg, please stop! You’re hurting my arm.” She squealed. I walked over to Greg and looked him in the face. I wasn’t about to let him hurt Y/N. “Greg I don’t know what your problem is but you need to calm down.” He looked at me and smiled evily. What the hell was with this guy? “Tell the worthless piece of shit to make me happy and maybe I would calm down Mr. Stradlin.” He said perfectly calmly. This guy has issues. “Don’t talk about Y/N that way!” Duff stepped in. Greg tried to grab Y/N but I stopped him. “You need to leave Greg.” “Fine. Come on Y/N we’re going home.” He motioned for Y/N to go with him but I stopped her from going. “No Greg. Just you. Out now before I call the police.” Greg flipped me off and walked out of the house, slamming the door behind him.

The Good Doctor - Part Two
Fandom: TWD
Pairing: Negan x Reader; platonic Rick x Reader; platonic Daryl x Reader
Summary: you leave Alexandria and arrive at Sanctuary
Warnings: touch of self deprecation, everything is off cannon, read at your own risk
A/N: I'm having fun with this one, hard to stay cannon but I tried as best I could
The Good Doctor Part One!!
Negan scoffed, unbelievable that you’d demand that, he’s gotta run his own group, “Are you fuckin’ joking sweetheart?” You laughed, packing up the supplies and giving the bag of supplies back to him, “No, I am not,” you pulled back and crossed your arms, “so how bad do you want me, Negan?”
Negan sighed, not wanting to leave you behind, having to decide if the supplies were worth giving you up. "Alright," Negan stood up, "that's what we fuckin' do then." Negan walked to the door, opening it for Amelia. "Amelia, doll, this is my good doctor friend, she's gonna show you how to do everything around here, while I go find Carl and that little Judith," he grabbed the Twix from the bag, "I get to take credit for this one though," waving the Twix around as he walked out the door.
About two hours or so after showing Amelia how you kept your charts, how everything was labeled and organized, how to make sense of when to give someone herbal tea you grow or actual medicine, Rick barges in. "What do you think you're doing Y/n? You can't go with him!" You scoffed, "Amelia has this covered, it'll be fine it's just a week." You moved around the clinic closer to Rick, "You can't tell me I can't do this when it means we keep next weeks supplies!" Rick shook his head, "Y/n, he will never allow that, he will get his due, what do you think you're doing?"
"Rick! He has always kept his word to me! He thought this through, brought supplies and a doctor with him! He wants this and I might be able to convince him to go easier on Alexandria!" You rubbed your face knowing that Rick would have a problem with this, "Y/n, he's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart, he wants something from you. I can't allow this." You laughed, with your full heart, "You're not allowing anything, I want this Rick, I have a chance to really change his mind about us and you want me to what? Say fuck you we don't need your antibiotics and slack? We're barely making it, so either get on board, or shut the fuck up." With that, Rick stormed out, Negan walking back up the sidewalk back to the clinic, shining his under-your-skin smile at Rick. Maybe that is what he wanted, to piss off Rick.
Negan walked back into the clinic, smiling brightly at you, "You about fuckin' ready sugar?" You nodded, "Amelia, you got any questions for me?" Amelia looked at you, at the charts and her notes, "No, I-I think I'm good." You smiled, "Okay, good," turning to Negan, "one more stop, gotta get some of my stuff and my books so I can study." Negan laughed, "Are you fuckin' joking?" You rolled your eyes, "If you have to ask, then no, I'm not joking." Pushing past Negan and down to your house you saw Daryl, perched on your porch.
"Ay, where do ya think you're goin'?" Daryl just looked at you waiting for an answer, "With Negan, going to go with him for the week, see if I can't trade some of my musty medical books for some new ones." Daryl looked at you with so much fear it broke your heart, "Don't worry, I'll be fine, Negan isn't going to take me to the rest of the saviors to just let me get hurt." Negan perked up at this, the good doctor defending him, "She's fuckin' right ya know, wouldn't ever let anything happen to our good doctor here." Daryl almost growled at Negan, you can't blame him for not liking the man, "Worried it's him that'll do all the hurting," Daryl whispered so only you could hear. "He wouldn't Daryl, it'll be okay, I'll be back in a week." With that, you marched into your house, collecting your toothbrush, an extra outfit or two and your books.
Coming out of your house, Rick, Daryl and Negan all stood on your porch. "You ready to get rollin'?" You smiled at Negan, hiding the fear of getting onto his bike. "Yeah," still smiling, "not like I have much to bring." You went down your steps and stopped when Daryl grabbed Negan by the shoulder, "Ya bring her back or ya die with me." Negan jerked back from him, "Boy don't ever fucking do that again," Negan descended the steps and paused, looking to Daryl, "I'll bring the good doctor home."
You crawled on Negan's bike, grabbing tightly to him, very nervous to ride with him. Negan smiled at you relying on him, it felt nice for you to need him, even if all you needed was to get to Sanctuary. As he rolled out of Alexandria he slid your hands around his waist, raising a blush to your cheeks, "Better to hold there, doll."
You couldn't help but skip a beat and grab a little tighter to Negan during every bump in the road, wouldn't it be something if you've made it this far and what takes you out is a fuckin' bike? You really felt as if Negan was enjoying this, you grabbing him a little tighter every time you got a little nervous. You still didn't really understand why he wanted you to come back with him, why he wanted it so much to lose out of Alexandria's supplies.
As he parked the bike he stepped off, smiling and holding out his hand, "We're here doll." You grabbed his hand, swinging your leg over the side of the bike, when you hit the ground you stumbled a bit, grabbing onto Negan and laughing, "Damn, maybe if I could stand." Negan chuckles at that, "Let me show you around, doll."
Following Negan he led you to the trading posts, where anything could be exchanged for just about anything. Then he showed you the cafeteria, more people than you'd seen in one place than you'd seen since it started. Then he led you up several flights of stairs, Jesus Christ, no wonder this man is so beautiful if this is his workout everyday. Nope, Y/n, this man is ruthless and you are here to fight for Alexandria.
He opened a door to what you thought was a commune it was so big, "This is where me n you are stayin' welcome to your home for the next week." You turned to him with wide eyes, "I'm staying here? With you?" Negan laughed, "Shit doll, just the best way I could keep my eyes on you." You shrugged and started to look around, "I'll sleep here," pointing to the couch, "this is where you live?" Negan again chuckled, "No, this is just where me n you are staying while you're here," moving past you to set his things down, "figured you'd like to be close to everything, maybe to the doc so you can learn." Maybe Negan had done something nice and actually just wanted to do something for you and this was the best way that he could do so. "Come on, I'll show you the fuckin' garden, you'll love it.
After showing you the entirety of Sanctuary, you finally got to go see this Doc he's been yapping about. "Doc," Negan started as he opened the door, "this is that fuckin' firecracker I thought you'd like to work with!" Carson smiled at you, happy he was able to teach someone again. "Ah yes! The doctor from Alexandria! I've been prepping for your arrival all day! I understand you're going on a run tomorrow, but we can work together the remaining time Negan doesn't have you tied up!" Carson seemed genuinely excited to work with you, but you knew nothing of going on a run with Negan tomorrow.
Whipping around to Negan, "A run tomorrow?" Negan scratched his beard and smiled at the you, "Dammit, Carson, hadn't really told her about that, see you later." Negan led you out of Carson's office and back up to your designated home for the week, "I was going to tell you," pulling out a bottle of liquor from the desk, "there's a place about forty miles from here I thought you'd like to help me ransack." You hummed in consideration as he poured two glasses, "I reckon we can go as long as we don't take the damn bike, not sure I'd last that long." Negan smirked, "Oh, baby, I could make you last that long." You laughed, a blush rushing to your cheeks and a desire to your core, "Not sure you've got it in ya man," you downed your drink and held the glass out for him to refill. "You could find out ya know," Negan winked at you, "we'll take the fuckin' truck, gotta have something to bring the supplies in."
That night you lay on the sofa, writing your entry for the day in your journal:
May 21st
I made it to sanctuary with Negan, it's actually a little unbelievable, still not sure what my purpose is, did he bring me here to learn from Carson? to be able to trade my books? to be able to help him on the run? what's the point? I'm no more useful here than at Alexandria, knot on a log, maybe he isn't so bad and I'm overthinking it, I know he read this journal, maybe he thinks he can fix me, sucks for him, I'm broken beyond repair

For the ones shots; how about Levi and MC agreeing to not gift each other anything but MC does anyways, and gifts him something very dear to him (probably anime related let's be honest) and he just,,, kisses them and then gets really embarrassed by it but MC just shuts him up by kissing him back 🥺
And Barbatos because we love our Butlerman: MC visiting the Palace unannounced and Barbatos is perplexed when he sees them but they insist something really important came up that they need to talk about, so he leads them inside,,, and they whip out a little gift for him (maybe a small necklace he can hide under his clothes that has a charm attached to the chain in the shape of a clock??) and he can't help but get really flustered and invite them to his room and they just spent Christmas cuddling and kissing and sharing stories with each other because I love some Barbatos fluff time 🥰
I Know I Said I Wouldn’t BUT...
Tumblr media
a/n: Here is the Leviathan prompt, the Barbatos one will come out soon, when it does I will attach it as a link on this post below
{Barbatos}
Word Count: 1077
Summary: Leviathan and MC agree to not get each other gifts for Christmas, but MC cannot help themselves when they spot a rare figurine in a window display of a store.
MC sat on Leviathan’s lap as he finished his game, chin resting atop the human’s head. In the game he heard some of the players who resided in the human realm say to each other ‘happy holidays’ and he hung up, looking down at MC.
“Christmas is coming up, right?” he tilts his head, purple bangs swaying across his forehead, as he asks.
“Yea, do you guys celebrate it down here?” they ask smiling sweetly at the nerdy demon.
“Sometimes,” he shrugs, “it depends on how relationships between the three realms are. Seeing as the exchange program has been successful I assume we are going to celebrate this year, though, it’ll probably be bigger than usual since we have two humans and two angels here.”
He watches as MC furrows their eyebrows a bit, lost in their thoughts. “Hey Levi, don’t get me a gift, kay?” Levi gives a bewildered look to his sweet human and stutters out a small ‘what?’
“Don’t get me a gift, having you by my side is enough for me and I don’t want you to spend grimm on me.”
“Fine! T-then don’t get me anything either okay, I feel like the luckiest demon to even have you with me,” Levi blushes, squeezing MC against his chest so they can’t see how bright his cheeks are.
MC nuzzles into him, happy they won’t have any sort of gift competition between the two of them and spend more grimm than they should.
-
MC was strolling through the shopping plaza with the white-haired demon lord, shopping for gifts to give their friends on the upcoming holiday.
“Oi! D’ya think Lucifer would like this?” Mammon points at a fancy air-hockey table that costs thousands of grimm.
“Mammon, I think you aren’t actually planning on giving that to Lucifer,” MC laughs at his lack of gift-giving skills.
“Y’know I think I should but it just in case!” Mammon starts to walk towards the table but MC drags him away while he kicks and cries like a child.
Mammon’s whining fades out as MC’s eyes land on an expensive figurine they had never seen before. They had practically memorized every figure their otaku boyfriend had in his possession. Their eyes land on the price tag.
‘19,000 grimm’ they hold their breath as they think.
No, MC thinks to themselves, I promised I wouldn’t get him anything! They bite their lip and keep thinking about whether or not to get it until Mammon grips their shoulders and shakes them, calling their name like a mad man.
“Jeez, I thought I lost ya there,” he sighs.
“Sorry, I-I” MC stutters looking from his face to the figure of the anime girl Leviathan had been obsessing over as of lately.
“Oh, Levi would like that! I already got him something though, guess it’ll have to wait,” Mammon shrugs. “I’m gonna go get it for him,” MC walks towards the store displaying the rare item.
“Wait! I thought ya said you weren’t getting each other anything!” Mammon shouts, attempting to keep up with MC’s energetic, quick strides.
“I changed my mind, it’s okay to break a promise if it’s to be generous… I think,” MC giggles, excited to see the look on Levi’s face when he unwraps the gift.
“Are ya sure? Levi ain’t gonna get you anything in return-”
“That doesn’t matter to me. Leviathan is a powerful lord that chose to be with a powerless human like me. He gives me so much love and he does everything he can to make me feel important, I want to show him I love him too. I thought I wouldn’t be able to find something to show my love well enough, that’s why I made the agreement not to get each other anything.” MC finishes their mini-speech and looks up at the Avatar of Greed who holds a surprised expression on his face.
The surprise turns into disgust, “Gross,” MC hits him lightly and he laughs. “I’m so glad that Levi has got someone like ya, he’s been alone since the fall besides the six of us, so watching him open up to someone, a human nonetheless, is kinda nice,” Mammon takes a moment to praise his brother before his eyes land on something shiny and he goes chasing it,  “And I’m so glad to have Goldie to get me this sweet piece right here!” he practically drools.
-
On Christmas morning, the brothers and MC sit around a small tree, exchanging gifts and laughing merrily.
MC got gifts from everyone except Levi. They brought the gifts to their room before running to their underwear drawer, where they had hidden the wrapped gift for Levi, and ran to the room of their significant other giddily.
“Levi! Levi!” they knock annoyingly until he opens the door. They push past him and skip into the room, spinning to face him and holding out the gift.
The purple-haired man grows pale and looks up at that with a scared expression.
“W-w-what?! MC YOU SAID WE WOULDN’T GET EACHOTHER ANYTHING!!” He looks a bit sad, knowing he doesn’t have anything to give them back.
“Well I wasn’t going to but I saw this when I was out shopping and knew I had to get it for you!”
He reluctantly takes the gift from them, unwrapping it slowly with shaky hands. When the flimsy paper has all been taken off the figure his mouth hangs open.
“T-this just came out, MC! This costs a lot, how did ya get it?!” He looks with joy and gratefulness at his human and they smile at him.
“Well, I bought it of course!”
“WHAT?!”
“But it’s okay, no amount of grimm could compare to what you’ve gotten me,” MC walks to him and wraps their arms around his neck. “You’ve given me love and happiness. I don’t want anything more than that, Leviathan.”
Levi wraps his arms around them, squeezing tight and not holding back the happy tears flowing from his eyes.
“Thank you so much, MC! I promise to make it up to you!” Levi cries, making MC laugh and roll their eyes.
They grab his face and press their lips against his, enjoying the taste of him and ignoring the salty taste of tears that mixed into the kiss.
“I love you so much Leviathan, merry Christmas.” They nuzzle their nose against his.
“I love you too, MC,” he smiles softly, looking into their eyes. “Merry Christmas.”

sakuatsu fic recs!
*possibly haikyuu!! manga spoilers
the world needs to know about these beautiful miya atsumu & sakusa kiyoomi fics - let me know if i’ve missed any must-reads and i’ll update as i find more (last updated 30/04/2020). this does not include incompleted fics.
☆ = nsfw
Different Kinds of Dysfunctional (series) - DeathBelle ☆
(there’s no series description so this is just the description of the first fic)
Atsumu said into the heavy silence, “You can’t say you’ve never thought about it.”
"Thought about what?" said Sakusa.
Atsumu smiled to himself, smug. "You know."
"No, I don't."
"You know. Of course you’ve thought about it. There’s no reason to be ashamed, Omi-kun. I’m a real catch.”
Sakusa was appalled. "You're disgusting."
"You flatter me. I'm not judging you. I can't lie and say I haven't thought about it, too."
Sakusa shifted, slowly, to peer over his shoulder. He wasn’t scowling, but his expression was unreadable. “Please tell me you’re joking.”
Atsumu wasn't joking, and he was about to get more than he bargained for.
your highs and lows (series) - astroeulogy  ☆
a post-time skip canonverse series born from these two questions:
1. what if sakusa kiyoomi, known too-blunt jerk, is equally straightforward about his soft, tender feelings?
2. what if miya atsumu, resident big fat jerk who doesn't care if his teammates hate him, is too emotionally stunted to notice when his one of his teammates actually likes him?
did you get your wish? - bastigod
"Miya-san, do you have any regrets?"
Atsumu hummed in response. The fabric of his jacket crinkled as he shoved his hands into his pocket. "Getting sentimental, Sakkun?" He sighed. "I suppose after your last tournament is as good a time as any for it."
good is the life, the life is good - fiskanel  ☆
From time to time Sakusa wants to empty a full clip into the head of some criminal, chop their head off and to feed the remains to starved pigs. Or avoid feeding and have a ceremonial burning so that he gets the feeling that he has done it himself, with his own hands, because now his nerves are getting the best of him. The first rule of their agency is no killing until other options get irrelevant.
got sunshine in a bag - fiskanel ☆
‘Is everything okay?’ Sakusa asks, running through Atsumu’s hair and trying to catch his breath.
‘Yes.’ In his post-orgasmic bliss Atsumu doesn’t exist as a person. He has a hoarse voice, swollen lips, watery eyes, and his semen is smeared between their stomachs. ‘It's okay.’
the inherent romance of classical conditioning (or, the fine art of emotional recognition) - pseudoanalytics  ☆
It's stupid. Atsumu isn't a romantic, no matter how many times he's imagined laying Sakusa out and finally really touching him.
So there's no explanation for why Atsumu is constantly stuck thinking about brushing his fingertips against the meat of Sakusa's palms or the prominent tendons in his freaky wrists.
There's no explanation for why doing dishes sets off a warm burn in his ribcage, or why when he smells disinfectant he inhales like he's walking past a bakery.
Yer doin' this to me, he thinks furiously, as Sakusa derails his thoughts with kisses that come more and more frequently now. Yer conditionin' me, and I can't stop it.
School Bus Yellow - yuuki
Atsumu has a crush on Sakusa, and it’s kind of ridiculous how much he likes a guy who wears ugly colored jackets and is afraid of germs.
Though, Atsumu’s probably not all that great himself. He’s still figuring that part out.
in disguise of revelation - wordstruck
“Did you need something, Miya-san?” Sakusa asks. Is this, Atsumu wonders wryly, how thieves feel when they’re caught.
“Omi-kun,” he replies with a slow-blooming foxkill grin. (And he hits a nail on the head — the unwelcome nickname makes Sakusa’s eye twitch just slightly.) “Lemme set for ya.”
Ah, there it is. A flicker of something colder behind that flat gaze, a there-and-gone-again that still hits Atsumu like a lightning strike. It makes his grin widen. Cavalier mischief is his best shield.
“My name,” the other boy says, in a voice of steel under paper, “is Sakusa.”
we are not shining stars - wordstruck
“I wanna see the Shinhotaka Ropeway,” Atsumu explains, as if this is a reasonable explanation for dragging your professional-volleyball-playing teammate out on an impromptu eight-hour road trip to a tourist attraction six hundred kilometers away.
“Uh huh.” Osamu pauses. Atsumu can hear his twin silently contemplating various reasons for Atsumu’s continued existence. “Is Sakusa-kun your hostage?”
“He wants ta see the Shinhotaka Ropeway too.” (This is a blatant lie.)
(Ten days after they lose to the Schweiden Adlers, Atsumu knocks on Sakusa Kiyoomi's door and invites him on a road trip.)
Notice - bastigod
Embarrassingly, Miya Atsumu is the third person to notice his crush on Sakusa.
And it's his crush in the first place.
The Germaphone and the Asshole (series) - metaandpotatoes  ☆
(there’s no series description so this is just the description of the first fic)
“The germ thing,” Atsumu says, looking as if he is intensely trying not to care. Eloquent as always. And unexpected, again. An inconvenient turn of events, if the habit persists. Adjustments will have to be made. Reaction times calibrated. Kiyoomi steps back again, what he hopes is an unnoticeable amount.
“The germ thing,” Kiyoomi repeats. Atsumu—headstrong, think-never Atsumu—hesitates. Kiyoomi briefly entertains the thought that he is trapped in a lucid dream.
flowers and all that bullshit - ugaytsu ☆
Atsumu asks for flowers, Sakusa gives him an interesting one.
On Edge - cajynn ☆
Atsumu needs to learn a lesson in patience. Thankfully Sakusa is a very skilled teacher.
Multiples of Two - yuuki
He does everything in multiples of two. The day Sakusa Kiyoomi died, Atsumu checked his pulse twenty-eight times. Okay, so Sakusa Kiyoomi has never died. And Atsumu has never been close enough to Sakusa to be able to check his pulse. So what if Atsumu is just being dramatic again? He’s allowed to be dramatic when he’s in love with a man who has less emotion than a rock.
after hours - novacaelum
"Are you scared of being caught, Omi-kun?"
"No." Sakusa's voice is strong despite his breathlessness, Atsumu smirks and crashes their lips together again.
crushed - strawberrycitrus ☆
"Can you crush a watermelon between your thighs?"
The entire team bursts into laughter, whereas Sakusa looks disgusted by the thought, because of course he would - Atsumu imagines that getting anywhere close to a food product with his legs would probably get him killed on sight.
The watermelon doesn't stand a chance.
show me how - emeraldpalace
Sakusa isn’t sure when or how it happened, but the fact remains: Miya Atsumu has become a comfortable constant in his life.
Black Jackals teammates verify controversial relationship announcement - pseudoanalytics
Despite initial public skepticism, sources close to Miya Atsumu (#13) and Sakusa Kiyoomi (#15) insist the relationship is authentic and not a publicity stunt.
Towers - slice_of_cheesecake
As the second prince of Inari Kingdom, Prince Atsumu has his duties to fulfill. Other than that, his twin brother, Crown Prince Osamu, just can't be bothered with such a troublesome quest, unless it's about food.
There's a nefarious sorcerer that is infamous for terrorizing neighboring kingdoms and Atsumu is given the task to slay the villain. But as soon as he sees the evil sorcerer, he suddenly forgot about his quest. Instead, he makes it his top priority to know more about this mysterious man and how he came to realize that all things are not always what they seem.
The MSBY Black Jackals Read Thirst Tweets - isaksara
Sakusa’s eyes are very dark naturally, sucking in all surrounding rays of light and crushing them in his pupils. For an athlete, he is rather pale. His lips look very pink in comparison. Atsumu is suddenly catastrophically aware that in this instance, ‘accent’ is a euphemism. “Good enough for your Olympic-size ego, Miya?”
(In which Atsumu realizes that he is attracted to Sakusa Kiyoomi in the most inconvenient way possible.)
touch me, hold your hand to the flame, keep it there as long as you can stand - kaashiboo  ☆
“I don’t trust you,” Sakusa says, and: “Don’t touch me.” Miya Atsumu does not flinch as grazed joints press against their shoulder, unfolding slowly, grasping onto them. Their breath hitches. Closed eyelids flutter, but don’t open up. “Don’t touch me,” Sakusa repeats, pleadingly, his fingers trembling so hard he thinks he can’t keep this up. Yet, he’s the one putting more pressure into it. Desperately, starvingly, longingly. “I won’t.” Atsumu promises. “I won’t touch ya, Kiyoomi-kun. I won’t.”
you make my heart burn - myhopeisjhope
“What’s up with that awful expression?” Atsumu asked. He leaned against the counter with his hip, looking directly at Kiyoomi, his regular fox-line grin plastered on his face.
Kiyoomi made eye-contact with him then, his eyebrows knotting in annoyance, but Atsumu was too interested in the cute pair of beauty marks above Kiyoomi’s eye to care about the glare that was sent his way.
“What’s up with that awful hair?” Kiyoomi shot back.
And that was exactly when Atsumu decided he liked the guy.
we’re falling out of touch - NovaCaelum
Sakusa loves Miya's hands. They look coarse from playing volleyball for long hours, they curve perfectly and set a ball as if he's reading the player's thoughts. As if he could. If it was true, then he'd know how Sakusa can't drag his eyes away from long fingers, rough calluses...How Sakusa wants to run the pads of his fingers over the shape, memorise it as if he'd never have the chance to do it again.
sometimes we have to wait (it takes time to find you) - ProudHaikyuuTrash
Three times Atsumu falls in love and is left heart-broken and the one time he gets his happy ending.
The Misadventures of Crackshot and Limber - astroeulogy ☆
Six months ago, the hero known as Bloodhound became the latest in a long line of mysterious disappearances. When a sudden break in the case leads his old partner and twin brother to the home of Southpaw, the most famous hero in Osaka, things take a turn for the—strange.
drive me mad (series) - Ceryna  ☆
snapshots of a tattoo & motorcycle AU fusion, featuring Kiyoomi with tattoos and a motorcycle, and head-over-heels pining Atsumu.
Heresy - honeybakedgrace
“I’d like to see that,” Kiyoomi jokes, a cheeky grin curling up the corners of his lips. Atsumu closes the gap, slowly, then all at once, until they can feel the other’s breath on their lips.
“It's too bad,” Atsumu trails off, eyes cast onto Kiyoomi’s exposed neck.
“Too bad?”
“Too bad,” Atsumu echoes, “in another life, maybe I coulda shown ya.”
Shades of Ink - DeathBelle  ☆
It’s fortunate that Miya Atsumu is such a good tattoo artist, because that appears to be his only redeeming quality. He’s too loud, too cocky, and so overtly flirtatious that Sakusa almost leaves the shop before he even steps inside. But he’s seen firsthand that Atsumu does good work, so he stays and suffers through it.
The longer he's there, the more he thinks maybe Atsumu isn't all bad.
When Atsumu asks for a tattoo from Sakusa’s shop in return, Sakusa knows he should turn Atsumu down. He doesn’t.
What should have been a routine business transaction turns into something more hands-on than either of them expected.
compositional control - almondblossom ☆
Sakusa Kiyoomi hated Miya Atsumu’s smug face, how bossy he was to the staff, and how full of himself he got. Even worse, he was outraged by how good Atsumu looked when he edited the photos from their shoot and how he ended up staring at them long after he was done. He loathed him and his pretty face and how it was all he could think about.
I Heard Your Voice - mrkscafe
Where Sakusa meets Atsumu while at work.
“Hey there, Pretty Moles-kun!”
Don’t turn off the light (I’ll give you what you like) - Liberty_Fede ☆
Atsumu thinks he can tease Sakusa, but gets completely wrecked instead.
three roses and a smile -  strawberrycitrus
“I just got this job, I’m not givin’ it up for some moral boost ‘cause I actually need to pay my rent, ya insensitive -” Atsumu waves his hands around, trying and failing to come up with the right word to convey the amount of injustice that this gaunt motherfucker has brought into his relatively simple life thus far.
“If you can’t pay your rent, go get a job at the McDonald’s over by 8th Street,” Sakusa growls, “it’ll pay more than your researcher position.”
If you even attempt assault on a coworker, forget teaching about cells - you’ll fucking be in one, Atsumu.
Live A Little - DeathBelle ☆
Sakusa's first mistake is getting on the motorcycle.
The second is his inability to walk away from Atsumu.
just a boy undercover (and a boy with a getaway) - volchitsae
Atsumu reaches out, clearly ready since birth to fuck with people. "Hey, I'm Atsumu Miya. Nice to work with The Lonely Lance." Osamu tries to kick at the back of his knee, but Atsumu is already moving toward Sakusa to get into his space.
Sakusa grasps the tips of Atsumu's fingers with his gloved hand for half a second before snatching it back. The warmth of the leather makes Atsumu's fingers twitch.
"It's Sakusa. I know who you are." Atsumu notes that he does not look pleased at all.
Instantly, his feud with Osamu hits the back burner. Atsumu wants to piss off the living shit out of this guy, 24/7, 365.
godeater - hozier
I’m still waitin’ for the day you consume me whole.
let them eat chaos - mirabilis
Standing between God and Ozymandias himself, Kiyoomi forges the remains of the boy who once challenged the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium and lost.
Saltwater - DeathBelle
“I said I was taking a walk alone.” Sakusa’s voice sounded odd, washed out by the low roar of the ocean. He sounded small, insignificant, and maybe he was.
“Yeah, I heard you.” Atsumu sounded the same as ever, loud and bold and always teetering on the edge of obnoxious. He stepped up beside Sakusa, maybe looking at him, maybe gazing out at the water.
“And you didn’t listen,” said Sakusa. “That’s typical.”
“I listened. I just heard what you didn’t say, too.”
an observational study of the modern desmodus rotundus - firtree
Ever since meeting Miya Atsumu, Kiyoomi's life has been a continuous stream of very unlucky incidents that have bled into a veritable sea of regret in which he finds himself, with no hopes of swimming back to the shore. In short, everything that is wrong with his life can (and will be) be attributed to making the acquaintance of Miya Atsumu.
Or: Some might think that becoming a vampire is the biggest problem that Kiyoomi will ever have to face. Wrong. His biggest problem comes in the form of Miya Atsumu and the crush he definitely does not have on him.
Reaching Through the Screen - cajynn ☆
“Oh my god.” Atsumu looks both shocked and thoroughly amused. “Omi-Omi. Is that porn?”
Euterpe - 09271996
Atsumu does not sing nor spare a glance at the instrument even once. His fingers alone do the wonders. Like a person meditating, only having his fingers move all according to instinct. He plays a hauntingly sad song, if Sakusa would describe it. He is not familiar with it but the way the chords resonate around the room and gives goosebumps to his skin, he knows that if he goes to sleep, it’s going to haunt him.
want you in my room - volchitsae ☆
"we hooked up and now the city has shut down for a week due to a pandemic and now we're stuck in your apartment" AU -- There’s a comfortable quiet while Sakusa butters some toast until Atsumu’s phone starts ringing from where it’s plugged into the wall. Sakusa scoops it up from the desk in the living room and hands it over to Atsumu, who puts it on speakerphone.
“Yo, ‘Samu,” Atsumu says, around a mouthful of cereal.
“Oh, so now you pick up.”
“My phone died!”
“We thought you died. It’s lucky you weren’t murdered. Unlucky for me, I’ve always wondered what it was like to be an only child.”
“You mean, I’m lucky I wasn’t murdered by his dick –“
“SHUT –“
Atsumu grins and shoots at look at Sakusa, who raises his eyebrows and takes a sip of coffee.
take what’s yours and make it mine - claudusdiei
atsumu falls in love four times in his life
(or: in which atsumu gets his heart broken twice, has the self-awareness of a sober mule and really likes yellow tulips)
nothing but some heartburn, baby - volchitsae
"your apartment is next to mine and i can hear you and your partner dancing and singing and the bed moving and you two laughing and talking in hushed tones and it won’t let me sleep so i bitch about it to you 24/7 and one day it stops and one day turns to one week and then months and i haven’t seen you smile in forever please let me in, i’ve been knocking for ten minutes" AU
Sakusa is just trying to pass med school.
as you are - waitaminute
Kiyoomi learns that falling for Atsumu is the easiest thing in the world.
bet on it - kambedon
Volleyball players are known for a lot of things.
Intense plays, long rallies, arm-breaking serves—those are only some of the things they are known for. But in Japan, the volleyball players (high school, college, and professionals alike) are infamous for something that no one really expected: their betting pool.
(or alternately, everyone finds out that one of the best spikers in Japan, Sakusa Kiyoomi, is dating someone and they try to figure out his identity while the person he’s dating remains clueless about it.)
two slow dancers - babbito
Atsumu smiles, Sakusas face still downturned in displeasure. It only makes butterflies storm his stomach, the fluttery feeling making him feel warm.
“You wanna know somethin’ Omi-kun?” He asks, Sakusas eyes still bore into Atsumus, waiting for him to continue. “You look really pretty when you sleep.”
my heart is thrilled by the still of your hand - volchitsae  ☆
“And that’ll be $27.50,” Atsumu says, fishing out a card machine from one of the bag pockets. “Debit or credit?”
Sakusa pulls out his wallet and pays with a credit card, and Atsumu dutifully packs it all away before extending the bagged blood over the threshold. Sakusa takes them but raises one eyebrow at Atsumu, a silent question at the maid costume and not the regular red and black polo shirt with slacks.
Atsumu fiddles with the bag strap. “Honestly, I was tryin' to come up with a pizza boy porn line, something about having ordered sausage and relating it to vampires, but I’ve got nothin’,” he confesses, which makes Sakusa laugh. Atsumu sees the flash of sharper than usual canines in his smile.
i keep a window for you, it’s always open - volchitsae
Atsumu scrolls around on YouTube, feeling like he's spiralling a little into the odd corners of it when some recommended videos are "I'm a Plague Doctor and You've Been Diagnosed with the Black Plague ASMR" or videos of people eating truly remarkable amounts of food. No judgement (maybe a little bit, he's no angel), but mukbangs make him hungry and whispering roleplay makes his ears itch. A video called "Study With Me: Pomodoro Technique #1" appears and he clicks on it.
The channel's name is endomiphins, and the thumbnail features a view of a man from the neck downward at his desk, notebook and laptop open.
Atsumu presses play. -- Sakusa is a barista by day, ASMR and study YouTuber by night, and Atsumu falls a little in love with both.

“I’m Sorry, Do I Know You?” “No But I Wish You Did...”
Chibs Telford x Reader
Summary: You move to Charming and really like the town, until you meet a handsome Scotsman, then you could really get used to living there.
Word Count: 1,291
I just moved to Charming not too long ago, and I’m really liking it. The people are nice, the town is very quaint, and…the mechanic shop. Now listen, I’m not one to fall for someone based purely on a single meeting, but if you could’ve seen this guy! He’s a little older…doesn’t bother me. He’s got this sexy light streak in his hair, and the most adorable and not to mention sexy accent. I went into the shop to get my car checked and there he was. I was watching him under the hood of my car, his arms flexing and the sweat dripping down his chest and—
“I’m sorry, do I know you, love?” He asked, a little confused and slightly amused.
“No but I wish you did…” Wait, WHAT?
He let out a short laugh, and what a laugh it was. Although, I was too embarrassed to register it much.
“I’m sure ye would darlin’,”
Oh I hope I didn’t just royally embarrass myself and blow my shot. Not that I really have one. He’s older and I’m just— probably not what he’s looking for.
“You’re all good ’t go love. Shouldn’t give ya much trouble anymore”
“Thanks, uh…” I blush so hard I had to quickly jump back in my car before he noticed.
“Chibs”
“Chibs! Right- thank you” I say with a smile, but I’m not even sure he was paying much attention. God, does he even like me at all? I hate this. I’m gonna spend the rest of my existence in this town pining over this guy. I drove off before I could have a chance to get back out and beg for a date.
A few weeks since the appointment, I haven’t seen him around town much. The “Sons of Anarchy” are quite the busy group. Always leaving town on their bikes to do, whatever it is they do.
I decided to take my mind off of the biker and spend my weekend relaxing. I went to the store to get my much needed snacks when somehow I bump into…
“Hello love”
I hear that magical voice yet again, and I drop everything in my hands.
“Hey!” I scramble to pick everything up, including my dignity.
“There’s tha look again” he chuckles to himself.
I pick up the last item as he’d already picked up the rest, and was caught so off guard.
“Sorry what?”
He laughs again, “When you came int’ the shop a while ago, kept givin’ me tha look”
I stared in complete shock and tried not to blush, I think I know what he’s getting at which makes it worse.
“That’s the one!” He laughs again, pointing to me, with the daydreaming look in my eye.
“I- uh,” I let out the most shy and embarrassed laugh. He’s catching on, shit. “I don’t mean to be weird, I always have that look.”
“Oh so I’m no’ special?” He smiles that beautiful smile and I try to stay standing on my weak legs. What is wrong with me? Could I really be into this guy this much?
“Oh no I didn’t mean-“ I have no idea how I’m going to save myself here. He clearly knows I like him and I can feel the next part of the conversation already. ‘You’re sweet but, not my type’ ‘Sorry love, not interested’.
“So what d’you think?”
“Think about what?”
“Dinner tonight?”
Hold on, what?
“I’m sorry, dinner?”
He flashes yet another signature smile. God I could look at it all day.
“Are you feelin’ alrigh love?”
“Yes- I just… I’d love to!”
He starts walking next to me as I approach the front to pay for my snacks. Guess I won’t be needing them—
“Your place or mine?” He smiles yet again.
“Oh-uh, mine I guess, if you don’t mind!”
“Of course not darlin’. I’ll be there around seven?”
“Sounds good!” I finish paying and walk through the doors towards my car. I watch him climb onto his bike with one swift movement. Jeez, what just happened? One minute I’m buying snacks to eat my feelings away and the next, I’ve got a date with the guy I’ve been drooling over for just a few weeks. And then it hits me, I need to get ready.
I race home to put on the nicest outfit I can find, and do my hair. Not too fancy but enough to say ‘please kiss me’. As I run around my house, tidying as quick as I can, I finally hear the sound of a bike pulling up. My heart skipped as soon as I heard the rumbling stop. He only gets a knock or two in before I swing the door open.
“Hey darlin’” his eyes trace over me with a look that I could only dream of.
“Hey, come on in” my voice is so shaky, I didn’t realize I’d be this nervous. “I thought we could order in, if you’re into that”
He gives me a warm smile, “that sounds great, love” and he sits on the couch, taking off his kutte.
After I make the call for delivery, I go to sit next to him. I notice he looks a bit strange, like there’s something on his mind. Before I can even ask, he speaks up first.
“Look, I wasn’t gonna say anythin’, but before anything else happens, I’ve gotta tell ‘tha truth”
I start getting nervous. Is he going to leave? Tell me he decided he’s not interested anymore? My god did he think this was just a hook up? Could I be that unfortunate?
“Darlin’?” He snaps his fingers in front of my face, as I apparently blanked into pure thought.
“Yes! Sorry- went into deep thought there. Go on”
“He looks at his hands before moving his eyes to meet mine.
“When you first walked into the shop, and I worked on yer car— I admit I was taken away. You looked so beautiful and so lively. Like you had the sun in your eyes,” he cracks a smile, like he’s remembering the exact moment, “I really like you, and I hope this date can continue after my stupid rant, unless I’ve scared you completely”
He locks his eyes on me, waiting for a response. I’m so taken aback. I can’t believe after all my second guessing that, not only does he like me, but he’s the sweetest guy in the world. My mouth slowly shapes a big smile.
“Chibs I can’t believe you felt that way, I thought I was chasing after an impossible thing- that you wouldn’t like someone like me”
“Like wha’? Beautiful? Charming?”
I laugh and blush extremely hard. As I look to the ground, he reaches his hand softly under my chin, and raises my head back up to look at me.
“I didn’t mean ’t be so forward darlin’ but I’ve been thinkin’ abou ‘ya ever since tha’ day”
As he lowers his hand away from my face, I keep eye contact with those deep and loving eyes.
“…Me too” I smile. I lean towards him very slowly, and he follows my movements, until our lips finally touch. The kiss was so soft and innocent, but perfect. He leans in to deepen the kiss and I get completely lost in it. I didn’t even realize how much time had passed until I heard the door knock. We broke apart and laughed.
“‘Guess we should start th’ date then?”
I giggle softly as I get up to open the door. I turn back to glance at him.
“That would be smart, although I’m starting to think this will happen a lot”
He flashes that gorgeous smile back to me, “Me too darlin’”

I don’t really know where I’m going with this but do you have any Oromis/Morzan headcanons? Before or during the fall, or Oromis’ feelings towards Morzan afterwards?
I have a few! More than a few apparently, I'm just finishing this up and uh...yeah that got longer than I thought!
I’m going to do my best to leave Glaedr and Morzan’s dragon out of these because while they’re large parts of each other's lives and even maybe personalities considering how deeply bonded Riders and their dragons can be, I want to be sure I’m keeping the characters separate. Kinda like how you shouldn’t constantly group identical twins together as a single entity, ya know?
Alright let's start off with Morzan. Time for some backstory!
Modern Inheritance!Morzan
Morzan was born into a family of low level nobles. By the time Morzan was about six or seven though, the family had fallen out of favor and was struggling to keep up appearances, spending money they didn’t necessarily have on lavish items and acting increasingly narcissistic in a desperate attempt to hold onto the standing and power they once had.
Morzan probably started showing antisocial behavior around this time, mainly impulsive petty theft, inserting himself in dangerous situations, and manipulation through charm with adults and intimidation and violence with other children. Due to his family’s last shreds of political strength and their long time in the area, most of these incidents were swept under the rug or outright ignored by his family. This generally left a very angry, disgusted-with-others, burgeoning narcissistic young Morzan to his own devices.
When Morzan was chosen by his dragon, his parents were quietly glad that he wouldn’t be their responsibility anymore. They didn’t disclose any of his troubling behaviors and Morzan was quick to understand that he would need to tamp the more obvious ones down and manipulate others into hiding his transgressions.
Despite all this, Morzan and his dragon do deeply care for each other. Due to Morzan’s mind linking with the hatchling, there was a sort of evening out of his behaviors as some were ‘shared’ do the hatchling and some of the hatchling’s personality was ‘shared’ with Morzan. This is what helped Morzan fly under the radar for so much longer until his eventual betrayal.
On a lighter note, Morzan shot up like a weed when he hit puberty, once growing nearly five inches (~12.7 cm) over the span of a year. It took a year or so for his muscles to visibly bulk up, so he was this tall gangly teenager for a while. His clothes constantly needed altering.
Initially Morzan doesn’t really know what to think of Oromis and Glaedr. His family was always distracted from giving him the attention and nurturing he needed, and suddenly he has not only this baby dragon who he can share his frustrations and emotions with but also parental figures.
Eventually he warmed up to them, but more in the sense that he became attached to their attention and the praise he got when he did well in magic and other lessons. He didn’t showboat as much, but would push himself to get more compliments, praise and attention from Oromis. Oromis saw this more as Morzan taking his training seriously. There were a few instances of Morzan and his dragon being pointed out as instigators of some scuffles or small acts of possible, unproven acts of sabotage harming or tripping up other Riders-in-training, but these were generally believed to be accidents or bad luck.
Morzan’s bullying and belittling of Brom was the result of Morzan feeling like his unfettered access to Oromis and Glaedr’s attention was being threatened. He knew he couldn’t get away with physically injuring Brom and Saphira I, so his physical actions never really went past ‘accidental’ full force hits in sparring and roughhousing. If Brom got praise or compliments from Oromis, Morzan would seethe quietly, eventually exploding in rage at some later point after it built up. Again, Oromis merely thought this was just adolescent growing pains.
Wooo! That is getting LONG, eh? I’ve got more, but for now I’m going to move on to Oromis and his feelings around Morzan’s betrayal and link you to whatever extra stuff I add later. I’m really unsure about the timeline of when Morzan betrayed the Riders and when it was known that he had, so I’m mostly going to skip that chunk. Let's go!
Modern Inheritance!Oromis
Even without 100% knowing/being sure of Morzan’s betrayal, I think there was a whirlwind of confusion and general chaos when Galbatorix murdered Shurikan’s original Rider. Who was a child. A Rider had murdered a child Rider and while everyone knew Galbatorix was unstable I don’t think anyone would have expected that. Oromis was swept up in all this and didn’t have time to really ask where Morzan was. I mean, Morzan was a grown man at that point and well beyond Oromis’s control.
Morzan’s involvement was probably confirmed without a doubt at the initial attack on Ilirea, and Oromis and Glaedr didn’t have time to process this until after their brief capture.
Oromis felt some really strong guilt. That’s putting it bluntly.  Let’s expand it, shall we?
First off, I think Oromis felt some guilt over not being able to help in the sort of final big battle at Ilirea. He was previously quite powerful since he was on the council that refused Galbatorix a new dragon (that’s a whole other topic to look at later on btw), and despite his age and wisdom I think it’s safe to assume that any sudden event causing massive life changes can be pretty shocking. Oromis felt powerless and after the deaths that occured in Galbatorix’s initial attack with the Forsworn on the Riders, I think he knew that there would be more. And all he and Glaedr could do was hide in Ellesméra and tend to their wounds and new maladies.
As they healed I’m pretty sure Oromis spent a lot of time thinking ‘how could I have stopped this?’ Hindsight is...well, whatever-elves-have/20, and Oromis would have put all the signs together that were telling him that there was something off about Morzan from the start. He probably thought subconsciously that he was fixing Morzan and didn’t want to acknowledge just how dangerous that little 10 year old boy and scrawny hatchling he had met all those years ago had become as he grew. There was also a lot of guilt post-Ilirea’s final fall around not protecting Brom from Morzan enough, and feeling like a lot of Brom’s pain was Oromis’s own fault because of this.
Oh man, Oromis also has heaps of survivors guilt about the Riders that, while he does work through it and focuses on extending his life to train the next Rider, never really fades completely. He understands that he could not fight in his condition, but there’s always the nagging ‘what if’ questions that can rear up unexpectedly.
Once he learns of Murtagh and Thorn and their forced fealty to Galbatorix, I think Oromis’s guilt probably pushed him over to definitely join the fight at Gil’ead. It’s likely that he feels that if he had separated Brom and Morzan, had taken the signs of Morzan’s growing antisocial disorder seriously and gotten him proper help, and hadn’t been so blind during the Golden Age, then in some strange way he may have prevented everything from happening. Morzan wouldn’t have let Galbatorix into Ilirea, Shruikan wouldn’t have been stolen, the Forsworn wouldn’t have been influenced by Galbatorix and Morzan (who used his manipulative charm to sway some), and it all comes to, in the end, Murtagh and Thorn, both relatively innocent in this and dragged in only due to parentage and some situations which they have no control over, would have never been forced through torture and cruelty to join Galbatorix and fight people they once saw as friends and family.
Overall I think Oromis, while having processed/processing and come to terms with the Riders Fall and the hand he inadvertently had in it due to his connection to and, in some ways, his failures surrounding Morzan, he still carries this deep feeling of guilt. He doesn’t let it simply sit there though, as he pushes himself to be able to train the next generation, but it’s always there.
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH okay that’s what I’ve got for now. Holy shit that’s a lot of bulletpoints, huh?
I spent some time researching antisocial behavior and Antisocial Personality Disorder, but per usual I want to state that I am by no means an expert, and the behaviors and traits portrayed here are not the only results, symptoms, or scenarios that can occur when someone has antisocial behavior or ASPD. Mental health is a difficult subject to write about, especially when I have no personal or second hand experience with the specifics, and I’m always open to educating myself on these topics. I am doing my best to learn so that I don’t stereotype or offend. If there are comments/concerns/critique please please don’t ever feel bad about messaging me privately, via the comments, via reblog, or through the ask box point out what I got wrong or if you simply want to share your experiences or concerns.
I’ll probably have more Morzan specific backstory and ideas later on, but for now I need to make some dinner and get to work on the other ask. Cheers!
Thank you again to @siriusly-misunderstood-creatures for the ask! I always appreciate asks and comments, they make my brain work!!

Lucio/Iolas - Wedding Proposal
(I really liked my long ass answer to the love ask about their proposal so i wanted to make it it’s own post that way y’all can ready it easier--)
The sun hung low in the sky as Lucio makes his way to the palace gardens. He has asked Iolas to meet him out by their favorite spot in the garden maze. the blonde smiles remembering how the two of them had found the hidden spot while goofing around and shoving each other into the hedges. It wasn't until one hard push sent Lucio through the hedge that he had found it. He fully expected to land on his ass but instead he found himself on the other side of a portal with Iolas calling for him from the other side.
Quickly Lucio ushered the other man through the portal and the two looked over a hidden meadow that seemed to be somewhere close to the center of the maze. Lucio could picture it perfectly; the stark white gazebo in the center, the perfect sun rays that sprinkled the fluffy grass and the willow tree with its small leaves that dripped and trickled. He fondly reminisced when the wind would blow and the tendrils of the willow would tickle up the wooden beams of the gazebo and scare Iolas into laughter every time the leaves would brush against his lover.
As Lucio draws closer to the portal he stops right before he enters and stares at the ring he had spent hours picking out. He had never fussed so much over a gift for someone. It was a first for him to worry about gift-giving, because anything he picked out was glamorous and simply perfect. This however wasn't just a gift.
It was a question.
Which meant it had to be perfect. Every time he would think he was close to choosing a ring he would look and see a flaw. A flaw that Iolas had the potential see. Which if he did meant the possibility of Lucio never getting to hear the answer he so desperately wants to the question He’s so nervous to ask.
So many times Lucio doubled back on himself about the proposal. Is this just too much? His mind would race. Could he see himself getting married again when his last marriage was such a failure? Then he would hear it. Iolas' laugh. Followed by the heart warming memories of the sunlight hitting the coffee skin of his lover. Afterwards every reservation burned away and was replaced with a deep desire to make this person his and only his.
Clinging to his new found confidence Lucio steels himself as he pockets the ring, almost dropping the bottle of champagne he forgets he was holding. As he pushes through the portal the blonde's heart skips a little at the sight of his lover resting on the side of the white gazebo. He’s wearing a white robe that Lucio had gotten commissioned to match his iconic white suit. The sight of it sets his heart running, he now knows the other dressed up just for him. As Lucio walks closer he can tell his lover seems to be lost in thought. He watched the other man’s crimson eyes gaze over the tree line, transfixed on something invisible as their thoughts dictate their face. It isn’t until Lucio steps closer and knocks on the wood with a playful tune that his lover acknowledges that the count has walked into the meadow. Lucio’s wolfish smile triggers a similar grin on his lover’s face.
"Hi, my Darling--" Iolas starts before pulling Lucio over by his collar to meet their lips together. With a giggle Iolas watches Lucio hop over the median of the gazebo instead of using the very close opening that's just a little be over to the side of them. Lucio tries to steady his face, but he can’t help that he’s excited. He doesn't want to come off too eager or nervous, but Lucio can tell his poker face failed as Iolas gives him a curious look. "What are you planning? I know that look."
Lucio however holds his hands up in defense after he places the bottle of champagne down on the railing in front of them. "Why do I always have to be up to something huh? Can't a man just meet his lover in a secret hole in the woods for some late-night drinking and maybe a little late-night macking?" the blonde throws the magician a wink, which is met with a playful smack that Lucio is all too found of.
"Did you bring glasses, Oh Count of Macking?" Iolas teases with a click of his tongue and to that Lucio's face freezes for a second. The easily distracted count did not think about the glass part of drinking, but his shock lasts for a split second before he nudges his lover with an elbow and a cheeky grin. "Can't you just magic something up for us--" Before Lucio can even finish Iolas throws his head back, his whole body shakes with a genuine laugh. One that Lucio only sees when Iolas reacts to his particular stupidity. "Absolutely not. I cannot manifest glassware, but fret not Lulu I prepared for this." The silver-haired man stands on the railing of the gazebo and reaches up behind one of the posts and brings down two champagne glasses. Lucio amused at this helps the shorter man down before taking both glasses and leaning down to give his lover a short kiss on the head.
Snickering to himself Lucio places the glasses down and pops open the champagne. "See? Who needs magic when you have a lover who has the spirit of a squirrel. Why are those even up there?" Iolas can't seem to hold back his laugher and starts into a long dialogue about how the last party they hosted he was tasked with disposing of all the drinks Lucio downed after getting into a drinking match with Julian. At some point he got too fed up hauling all the empty glass wear to and fro so he eventually gave up and used the portal which was much closer than the garbage. Soon as he finishes that story Lucio makes note that not only does he not remember this drinking contest at all, but he also notices that the whole upper layer of the Gazebo is littered with small drinking glasses of all shapes and sizes.
After the two of them laugh at the absurdity of the situation the couple dive into a comfortable speed of talking. Slowly they unravel the days events to each other, to which Lucio adds more flavor by introducing the drinks. The sun finally settles and the garden lights flicker on and thanks to all the glass wear in the gazebo small reflected lights scattered within their own space. Slowly the stories of their day dwindle and eventually, they huddle close to each other so they can look under the top of their gazebo and point out stars. Lucio watches the small warm lights bounce off his lover's face and his heart races. He can't chicken out now.
"Iolas." Lucio stops the silver-haired man mid-sentence as the other was going on about his zodiac sign and how it will be visible in the sky soon until he hears his name.
Iolas pauses fully, not use to hearing his full name exit his lover's lips unless it was during a more intimate and scandalous situation. So he hides his hesitation with a smile and he answers the blonde with the same tone he just used but exaggerated with a deeper tone to lighten the mood. "Lucio." The count starts to fidget but just laughs when Iolas mocks his serious tone. "No really, uh... Listen for a second." Iolas' face now turns from curious to worried. " Uh oh. that's a real serious tone. What did you do?" Lucio brushes him off, biting his lip and rubs the back of his neck. He feels so lame doing this, but that's the point.
Lucio stands up straight taking Iolas' hands, looking directly into those red eyes. For a second Lucio’s mind feels erased. It was as if looking into his lovers eyes reset every word he had planned out, but the ring sits heavy in his pocket. So he tried and opens his mouth only to close it so he can bring Iolas' cold fingers to his lips, unable to find his words just yet.
Iolas' however is completely taken aback. His lover has been romantic before but he was much more used to their back a forth of one-upping each other and superficial compliments they would glob onto each other. Their usual dynamic coupled with nightly flings where he ended up in the blonde's bed, made the sudden tenderness unsettling.
The magician could feel that dark feeling creep to his shoulders. The one that would say he shouldn't get his hopes up, that he's happy filling the count's time till he finds a real suitor. Even if Lucio was a temporary General at the palace he was still a completely different status then Iolas and Royals don't have court magician as suitors. So his hopes remained low but he was happy to bide his time with Lucio. However little it would be. Iolas had to admit even with the teasing and snarky remarks that sometimes get out of hand he loved and even craved the other man's company. Sadly, love doesn't change status. Love doesn't guarantee a happy ending. His a master when it comes to disappointment and had learned his lesson the hard way.
So It was the last thing Iolas' expected when the taller man pulls out the biggest ring the magician has ever seen and gets down on one knee. Iolas' first thought is to pinch himself so he can wake up. Then when air fills his lungs he realizes he’s awake and this is happening. More than happening, he's been silent for far too long. All he can hear is the stinging sound of his building anxiety attack banging around in his head. The buzz is deafening and He can see that Lucio is speaking but he can't hear him.
You will just disappoint him. Iolas' thoughts curse. Better yet he'll disappoint you. A shaky breath leaves him and all he can do is blink and look at Lucio with watery eyes. "I-- I'm sorry please can you say that again." Iolas stops and closes his eyes just so he doesn't have to look at the ring that's almost blinding with its meaning.
Lucio's normal wolfish grin falters but only returns once he hears Iolas speak. "I said. We should get hitched, ya know?" Lucio sputters, shit. "Look. Like I was saying we're surrounded by losers, Pet. Who else am I gonna get to match me other than you huh? come on, look at me—“ he gestures to his hair and outfit before continuing “Then look at you! we're perfect for each other.. ya know?" Lucio now looks nervous as he speaks. Unable to keep eye contact. “..and.. I love your laugh."
This seems to pull Iolas' from his anxiety a little even enough to get him to let out a weak laugh. "What? what does that have to do with anything?" Lucio pouts and glares at his lover just a tiny bit. "I love your laugh! and I don't want anyone else to have it. I deserve it, I get you to do it most and I think you owe me. So like.." Lucio ushers Iolas' to the ring, his legs are starting to buckle. "I wouldn't admit this to anyone else but my knees aren't what they use to be so can we--" Iolas stops him with a curt turn, his shoulders shaking.
The blonde stands at his lovers reaction his whole body rigid. This was it. The rejection he warned himself about. He's ruined everything, his heart screams to take it all back. Iolas is probably laughing at the proposal and Lucio's tacky way of offering himself. It isn't until the sound of a stuffy nose echo through the silent night that Lucio realizes his lover is crying and instantly he steps forward a different kind of fear gripping his heart. " W-wait-- wait, why are you crying? You never cry--" He falters and fidgets his hands around his lover unsure if he wants to be held or not.
Iolas turns finally, his red puffy eyes are turned down in a grimace as they glisten in the dim light. "Yeah, you idiot I never cry and look at what you made me do." His tone is harsh but it's followed by a sad shake that ruins any intention of anger. "Lucio I... I don't know how to do this." Lucio's heart slows but he's thrown for a loop and Iolas can sense his confusion and clears his throat as he wipes his leaking eyes. "No one has ever, wanted me like this before. I don't know if I can-- How do you know you want this? What if I disappoint you? What if you get tired of me and regret ever meeting me? At least if we keep things like before you can just get rid of me if I'm too much and I won't have to--" Lucio stops Iolas this time as he brings his lover close by pulling on his crossed arms.
"You won't have to worry about falling in love?" The blonde answers with his own sense of sadness, his eyes looking down at their feet before meeting with Iolas' who only nods in response. Lucio is a bit thankful that his lover didn't outright say no and is at least contemplating the idea of things. "I had the same thoughts and honestly I don't know how I'm sure. I just... am." Lucio's normal bravado comes back now that he feels more secure in the conversation. "I know that I love seeing you every day. I know that I love sleeping with you every night. I know that I don't want anyone else to hold you the way I hold you and I know that you feel the same way about me." At that the blonde swallows hoping he isn't wrong. "But mostly I know I don't ever want you to leave. If you were to go, do you know how fucking boring this place would be? I would set the parlor on fire within minutes of you being gone." The cheeky grin is back and Iolas snorts at the idea and manages a smile as he is now fully embraced by his lover.
Lucio rests his head on top the shorter man’s and hums, kissing the top of it. Slowly he pulls Iolas back so he can look down at him. "But it's not just about what I want... you kinda need to want those things too." Now it's Iolas turn to nervously look away and slowly as the shorter man's courage builds he tightens his grip on Lucio's jacket and more tears roll down his face as the realization comes crashing onto him that he'd do anything to be with the man in front of him. Before He can answer he shoves his face into Lucio's jacket rubbing his head back and forth on the soft fabric. "You moron-- Of course I want all that."
The blonde can't resist the urge to tease the other man however and laughs to himself. "I'm sorry, could you say that again I couldn't hear you from inside my jacket." Iolas hits the taller man's chest with a laugh before he goes to wipe his damp eyes yet again. "You know for a fact that I said YES-- urgh, gods look at what you did to my make up how the hell am I going to fix this now--" Iolas' whining is stopped short by his lover picking him up in a searing kiss that continues as the blonde twirls them both. With a firm grip on Iolas' waist Lucio looks up at the magician with a smile that could blind the gods. "I wanna hear you say it." Iolas rolls his eyes at that. With most of his face red as a beet, a large pout crosses the silver-haired man's lips. He kicks his legs from his newfound lifted position.
"I have zero idea what you're talking about--" Iolas protests but Lucio shakes his head. "Say it or you are never leaving this gazebo." Iolas is about to rebuttal but the look in Lucio's eyes is that yes he is serious. Iolas' expression softens, even if it's despite himself. "Of course I'll marry you, LuLu." Lucio whispers a soft ‘yes!’ Before he bounces in his spot and spins the both of them once again but this time continues to spin around the whole gazebo. The blonde’s laughing slowly raises to excited cackling as they spin. Iolas can only laugh back and struggle against the crazy man holding him. "Stop--! Lulu Stop! we're gonna--" but it's too late. Lucio's legs trip over themselves and with zero grace they both tumble onto the hardwood floor.
Iolas rolls onto his back and groans, dizzy and sore his eyes dart over to the man beside him who is just as dazed. Slowly Iolas entwines their hands with a smile and Lucio is about to kiss his lover's fingers before he remembers the ring. The blonde springs forward, getting up like the fall meant absolutely nothing. Iolas however takes his time sitting up as his lover fumbles to find the ring he dropped.
Soon as it's found Lucio slides over, the scraping sound of the taller man's pants on the hardwood makes the magician giggle. Iolas has to give the other man sheer points for his enthusiasm. Pompously Iolas sticks his left hand out, to which Lucio plays along and kisses the other man's ring finger dramatically before slipping the large ring onto Iolas' hand.
Carefully Iolas' holds his hand out to the light and observes the sheer size of the ring and can't help but grin. Lucio practically radiates waves of anticipation. His cheeks flushed from their recent spinning but his eyes sparkle and scream that they crave his lovers attention.
"Was this the biggest ring they had?" Iolas wiggles his fingers, acting as if he's unimpressed. Lucio simply feeds back into him. "How dare you." He sneers, pulling Iolas into his lap as he sits, unable to be on his knees any longer. "I had this one custom ordered. Not only is it the biggest ring in stores, but it's also the biggest wedding ring, period." He speaks into the shorter man's neck before he kisses it, The count's tone never faltering. The very idea of that sends Iolas into a giggle fit. He knows for a fact that this ring physically cannot be the biggest ring ever but another part of him can see Lucio putting up a fight with store owners about the pitiful size of their rings to the point where he just orders them to make him a whole new size.
"Of course, I knew my Lulu would only get me the best. He’s not capable of anything less." Lucio preens in the praise and Iolas strokes the back of his fingers against his lover's face. For a moment they stay like that, both of them processing what exactly just happened and what this means for their future. Iolas is the first to break the silence with a soft hum as he presses against Lucio's chest. "Thank you... Lucio." the taller man responds by nuzzling his nose into the shorter man's hair with a confused hum. "I never thought I could do this...” Iolas voice wavers but only slightly as he takes Lucios hand in his. The weight of the ring feels odd but strangely comforting. “... but for the first time, I'm not scared." Lucio smiles at that. and squeezes his lover in his arms.
"Good. We can be fearless together."

Sincere Apology
Tumblr media
Words: 1151 Pairing: Luke Skywalker x Reader Summary: Luke and Reader were in a speeder bike accident and the former moisture farm tries his best to apologize. After several attempts he come up with something that might finally win back Reader’s favor. A/N: Inspired by this post by @make-me-imagine!
Tumblr media
“[Y/N], how many times do I have to say that I’m sorry before you’ll forgive me?” Luke Skywalker asked as he chased after you. You didn’t answer him. Instead, you continued on your way to deliver the data pens in your hands to Leia. While you were walking slightly faster than your normal pace, it was hardly considered a brisk walk. Luke was his best trying to keep up with you. His boots thumped against the metal grates on the floor as he stomped along.
“I already said forget about it Skywalker.” You answered without stopping or looking over your shoulder.
“That’s not the same things as saying you’ve forgiven me!” Luke huffed. You stepped to the side, avoiding a collision with Han Solo who had appeared from an offshoot corridor. Luke was not as agile and collided shoulder first into his friend’s chest.
“Easy there, Farm Boy!” Han said, gripping Luke by the shoulders. “What’s got you so fired up this early?”
“It’s [Y/N].” Luke sighed. He gestured impatiently behind Han, but when the smuggler turned to look, you were long gone. “Leia sent us out on a scouting mission late last night. [Y/N] doesn’t know how to drive a speeder bike, they don’t have much use for them on her home planet, so we just took the one and I…”
“Wait a minute.” Han began to laugh. It was joyous chuckle that starkly contrasted his usual sarcastic scoff. “Are you the one who crashed that Speeder bike? The brass isn’t too happy about that...”
“It was an older bike.” Luke answered defensively. “It’s not like it was a new one! Besides, I’ve already offered to help repair it.”
“The bike I saw was pretty banged up.” Han shook his head, no longer laughing. “You’re lucky neither one of you were hurt.”
“Now you sound like [Y/N].” Luke pouted.
“you’re going to have to do something big to make it up to her.” Han said.
“Yeah.” Luke sighed in agreement. “If you think of anything, let me know.”
Tumblr media
Hours later, you had finished the work you’d been assigned. Work which included a mission report detailing exactly what happened to the unsalvageable speeder bike Luke had ruined. It had been a long day of paperwork and data logging. You were ready to hit the sonic and then retire to bed wearing one of your few remaining home planet luxuries, silk pajamas. Then there was a knock on your dorm door.
“[Y/N], it’s Luke.” He told you.
“What do you want Skywalker?” You snapped before tapping the door control and watching the door panel slide open.
“I’m here to apologize…again.” Luke explained.
“I already said…”
“Let me make it up to you please!” He begged.
“Alright.” You sighed. “But this better be quick.”
“Uh, it won’t be.” He apologized. “But it will be worth it. Trust me.” You followed Luke through the Rebellion Base to outside. He led you down a small path less than a mile long. The same one you’d gone down the night before. At the end of the path was a makeshift corral of sorts that was used to house the speeder bikes.
“Because you didn’t learn your lesson the first time?” You asked him. “Who the heck did you convince to let you borrow another speeder bike immediately after you trashed the last one.”
“Well…” Luke rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “I didn’t exactly get permission…”
“So we’re here to steal and ruin a seeder bike? I skipped my sonic for this?” You shook your head.
“What? No! I thought ya’ know, maybe since you don’t have a speeder bike license, I could show you how to drive one so that next time we go on a mission together you can drive.” He explained.
“Why would you do that?” You asked suspiciously.
“Because I know it would make you feel more secure to be able to drive the speeder when we go out and I’m hoping it will make you less mad at me. I can’t stand the idea of you not talking to me for another day.”
“Speeder bike lessons, huh?” You considered the idea.
“I brought you a helmet.” He offered out a repurposed biker trooper helmet that someone had painted rebellion orange.
“Alright, but if we crash, you’re taking all the blame.” You insisted before accepting the helmet and his apology.
Tumblr media
“[Y/N], Turn! Turn! Turn!” Luke shouted over the rumbled of the speeder bike. There was no reason for him to worry though, you’d already begun to make the turn and avoided the tree in your way. You’d been training together for two weeks now and it turned out the farm boy was not a bad teacher. He also wasn’t too bad at driving the speeder bike either, when he wasn’t distracted.
“Same time tomorrow?” You asked, parking the bike make in its corral.
“Sure.” Luke beamed. You walked together up the path to the rebel base. “Goodnight, [Y/N]. See you tomorrow!”
“See you tomorrow, Farm Boy.” You smiled back. As you and Luke went your separate ways down two corridors. You walked towards your dorm with your speeder helmet in hand.
“Does the quarter master know you’ve got that helmet? You know you’re not supposed to take those things to your private quarters.” You turned slowly on your heels to see who had just caught you red handed. It was Han Solo. “Oh Han, it’s only you.” You sighed with relief.
“Yeah, only me.” He repeated gruffly. “You and Luke just come back from your secret rendezvous?”
“I wouldn’t exactly call it that.” You answered.
“Well, if it is supposed to be a secret, it won’t stay that way for very long.” Han said. “The kid has been talking me and Chewy’s ears off about how much he looks forward to meeting with you every night. I think he’s got a thing for you.”
“I-what? Why are you telling me these?” You asked him. Han shrugged.
“I want to see how things play out.” He smirked. “I figure the kid’s never gonna make a move on his own so…”
“So you thought you would push things along.” You nodded, now understanding.
“Hey it’s a win, win for me.” Han explained. “If you feel the same way about him, I get to take all the credit for nudging you in the right direction and if you don’t, I get some entertainment out of the blow up.”
“What makes you think he has feelings for me anyway?” You asked.
“For starters it only takes about a week to learn how to operate a speeder bike and you two have been sneaking off for about three now. That means that either you’re the worst driver in the galaxy or he’s finding an excuse to spend time with you. Think about it.” Han shrugged again before continuing what he was doing before bumping into you.

thank u all for the thoughts on the sakusa version. figured i’d give another boy a try and am considering making this a series
Falling in love with Atsumu feels like being on a roller coaster. There are so many ups and downs but you never want to get off. Falling in love with him requires time but once you do its the most amazing thing in the world.
Its meeting at Onigiri Miya after he’s had a long and rough day at practice and you two order the same meal. The order is called off and in a haze of exhaustion he thinks its his grabbing the bag almost immediately bumping into you and dropping the bag. Hes so so tired and so so hungry that he nearly tears up before mumbling a series of expletives, not even processing any of the spew of apologies you shoot at him. Even worse when he finds out it wasn’t even his order he dropped, because so much for a free meal. He’s in shock when you decline him buying you a new one because he “looks ready to drop dead at any moment.” He barely processes the way Osamu comes out both annoyed at the mess and amused at his frozen twin before telling you a replacement was on the house and forcing Atsumu to go nap in the back for a little because driving home.
Its how after that night, he’d started seeing you more and more at the shop, very brief conversations here and there leading up to him asking for your number since “ya seem to come here as much as me.” At some point he found out that its because its your roommate’s favorite spot and picking up dinner is on your way home (not that you've ever mentioned that you’d gotten to enjoy the view of both the cook and his brother.)
Its the friendship you develop with his twin and fit right in with their friends. In some whirlwind of conversation you expressed concern for him (as a stranger) to where his brother said it wasn’t unusual for him to come in, half dead, eat and sleep off some of his exhaustion before heading home. It wasn’t all the time, but often enough. However, accidentally stealing someone else's food was a new one for him. You jokingly called Atsumu sleeping beauty, which was the start of it. The two of you frequently teamed up against the twin, to tease at him and no matter how much Atsumu claimed to hate it and he wishes you two despised each other, he cant hide the smile that tugs at him.
Its the moments like the one when you met where you end up picking him from practice, catching a ride to the gym because he's so so tired and wants nothing more than to stuff his face and sleep for days. Just months into your friendship he’s trusting you with his car, because you seem that dependable. The praises of you being a good friend as his hand lingers against yours after passing the keys over to you. The way he looks slumped against the cars window has something stirring inside of you. You take a picture for blackmail later and to reinforce how much better he is when hes not talking.
Its how he sits on your couch eating all your snacks while he shit talks all the guys that appear on your tinder. Calls some of them jobless losers, and its the frist time he admits that he thinks you're hot. “Yer too hot for that guy”, while swiping left on all of them (even the ones you would’ve gone right for.) The way you retort confirming that he thinks you’re hot has him speechless and stuttering, insisting that he didnt mean it like that, yet can’t explain how he meant it.
The times you bicker and he suddenly becomes the worst friend you have. The time you two had stopped talking for like a month, mad over something you’d forgotten a week later. Yet, all you knew is that you were supposed to be mad. He could “go to hell” and you were “so fucking annoying.” Over the course of your friendship he’d made it a habit of taking things from you; your favorite mug because he still had a drink in it when it was time for him to go. Your fuzzy socks that he’d claimed during a movie night, because your apartment was way too cold. The spare reusable bottle because he forgot his and was already on his way to the gym. You’d resorted to trying to slowly get your stuff through Osamu, but by week 3 he’d grown tired of it. He promised you both a free meal if you came and helped him close up one night, before forcing you two to talk it out. Within five minutes the two of you are laughing.
Your first date had been one by accident of some sorts. You’d been walking around a shopping center at night and he’d caught view of a new ice cream shop. It was his cheat weekend and he suggested stopping. His treat. Some time in between you going home he’d teased that it felt like a date. You both were hit with a oh shit kind of moment because it was true. Throughout the night your hands had brushed several times, and you’d both even let the other use your spoon to taste your different ice cream flavors.
Atsumu’s feelings came relatively easy. He thought you were kind, funny, interesting, and of course attractive. You had a way of leaving him speechless with your quick and witty comeback, and it was refreshing. It’d been something he hadn’t seen much since his high school days with Aran. However he’d denied the feelings for the longest, swearing to himself that he’d never have a crush on you. You were just one of the bros, but better. But, after that first date its like the feelings just flooded out. It’d ended with you hinting that you’d be interested in going on another one, “perhaps a real one this time,” and he just nodded.
There weren’t many dates before the two of you dived into your relationship. Afterall, you’d been friends for over a year and if he’d thought you were annoying he wouldve “been gotten rid of you.” His first act of the two of you becoming a couple, was a cute picture for his new wallpaper. It’d been a hassle to get because with every picture, one of you had a problem. The first time his roots were peaking through too much and he fussed at you for not telling him he needed a touch up. Then the one he liked you were blinking, and hed insisted you looked good anyways (or that he did). He’d recounted a time where he didn’t care about making memories, but it was different now. They made him who he was, and wanted to keep the memories of your growth.
Its the nights before games that he spends with you doing self care (an act he used to pretend like he only did because you wanted to, before just begrudgingly admitting that he liked it too.) You’d gone to look for a specific face mask, before he admitted that he stole it and forgot to bring it back (when really he used it all up and was just waiting for you to buy another one so he could take that one too). When you rolled your eyes at him, he’d just brush it off a promise of returning it before opening his arms for you to return to your cuddle position. You were supposed to be watching a movie, but he’d pulled up old games of his future opponents and kept showing you interesting plays. One hand holding the phone, the other unconsciously rubbing circles onto your back. He asks if you’re paying attention to him and you admit that you aren’t at all and he sighs in over dramatic disappointment before locking the phone and focusing on you.
Its the argument that almost led to your breakup that happened due to a miscommunication. You’d been out with friends, Atsumu already trying and failing to coax you into staying the night with him instead. All it had taken was a picture taken completely out of context for him to feel hurt. He really really liked you (borderline was ready to admit loving you)!and thought you’d at least felt a fraction of the same emotion towards him. That night he hadn’t thought through anything before sending the picture (snapped on who knows who’s phone) to you with a simple ‘I see how it is’. What made it even worse is that you hadn’t seen the picture right away.
It’s how your heart dropped later that night when you were finally ready to head back to his, and your heart ached at how you called him several times only to be sent straight to voicemail. Your attempt at reaching his twin was lucky as he hadn’t even told him about what he thought had happened yet. Another strike of luck when Osamu believed you and ensured that this was a case of his brother acting first and thinking later.
The makeup had been one both of relief and realization that the two of you needed to talk. It’s when you found out that he was in love with you and that he really did love hard. Just like with volleyball, he wasn’t sure what kind of dumb shit he’d be getting into if you weren’t there. Having to sit through the conversation was uncomfortable for him as he was often the one doing the scolding to others. However the difference was that you admitted that you could’ve handled it better as well (something he doesn’t do when he’s complaining about others).
Its the nights where he hits you up at 2am already outside begging you to just take a late night drive with you. He knows you can’t tell him no so he’s offering a smirk pushing the door open as you sleepily make your way in. His eyes soften at how cute you look (he’s definitely known to slip up and talk in a baby voice like this and yes you’ve blackmailed that ass when he annoys you). You tell him that you look like shit at the moment and he agrees before backtracking and still saying you look good.
You end up at some late night drive through arguing about fries because “ya didn’t even wanna come out in the first place” and you both don’t need them. You could just share. The workers in the drive through literally have to tell y’all to hurry up to where he just glared at the faceless menu. You have to end up shouting over him the order that he still ends up complaining about. Even though you end up with the two different orders he eats all yours and every time you try and swat his hand away he exclaims that he bought them.
Those nights you wake up pretty easily because he lowers the windows and turns up his throwbacks playlist pretty loud and sings terribly and just looks so happy. Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney comes on and he loves grabbing your hand at it while singing along. Those moments are a different kind of joy from when he’s playing volleyball. He’s not focused on a win or his team and how to celebrate. He’s living in the moment, happy and carefree and with his favorite person.
a/n: um yeah cant lie I do like the sakusa version better but here we go. another middle of the night ramble.
