Part 2
Always Had Something For Cowboys
Quickly running across the wooden floor of the main ranch cabin I knew if I got caught it wouldn't be easy to leave. So I had to make sure I could get out of here without anyone knowing...at least until they all woke up in the morning. Entering into my five year old daughter's bedroom I sat down on the side of her bed gently shaking her shoulder. "Reese Reese, wake up. Wake up sweetheart."
"Huh mommy. What's it?" She rolls over blinking the sleep from her eyes but she wasn't fully awake.
Brushing hair from her eyes I tilted my head towards the doorway. "I need you to get dressed and come with me now. I have the car packed and ready to go."
"Go...where. Is daddy coming with us?" She asked me to sit upright in the bed.
Shaking my head I didn't want to explain all the details to her at such a young age. I already never wanted her to get pregnant so young like I had even though I couldn't imagine my life without her. "Not this trip, Reese. But I have your horse Peanut waiting in the car for you."
"Okay." She mumbles sliding out of the bed grabbing her boots and jacket heading towards the doorway stumbling and making the floor creek.
Sliding forward on my feet I scooped her up in my arms so she wouldn't make too much noise heading straight to the car as fast as I possibly could. "Just go to sleep honey. I'll wake you up in a few hours."
"What do you think you're doing,Y/n?" Buckling her in her seat with her toy horse she fell right to sleep before I heard a voice from the guy I wanted to avoid entirely.
Whipping my head around I parted my lips seeing the dark brown eyes and black hair of John Wayne Kleinsasser. "None of your business, JW."
"It actually is my business since you have our daughter sleeping in the car." He responded by putting his hands inside the dark orange jacket he was wearing along with a black cowboy hat.
His family owned a large ranch out in the big sky area of Montana. We had met at a rodeo competition years ago, instantly hitting it off. "She's actually my daughter since you've been spending all your time working the ranch instead of being a daddy."
"Watch your mouth. Y/n." He warned me.
Crossing my arms over my chest I spat at him. "I suggest you watch yourself JW. Otherwise I'll go wake Cheyenne and she can kick your ass."
"Don't bring my sister into this and jump tell me what the hell are you doing packing up your stuff at six in the morning?" JW shook his head at me walking to the edge of the porch steps.
Leaning my back against my car I avoided the answer he was looking for. "I don't have to tell you anything. Especially since you lied to me."
"What have I lied to you about, darling?" John Wayne asked me to walk off the porch until we were facing each other. "I seem to remember that my family has been nothing but nice and honest with you."
"You lied about what you did to the girl in that cabin. You lied about killing her and then just pretending that you found her so suddenly." I responded with a sharp tongue.
He quickly moved forward shoving me against the car where I grunted hoping he wouldn't wake my daughter. "Who told you about that. Tell me!"
"Your sister who else...now let me go." I winced at his hand that was around my throat and his other was pressing against my chest.
JW shoved himself away from me in a huff. "So what you find out what happened and you're just going to take her away from me. She's my daughter!"
"Yeah but you haven't been a good father. You've been so consumed with getting your hands on this ranch." Rolling my eyes at him.
He pointed his index finger at me. "Blake is in prison so the ranch belongs to me when my father passes."
"Ohh I'm so happy for you. Wait, no I'm not because you're only caring about yourself." Stomping my boots in the dirt I threw my hands up in the air. "You're turning out to be just like your daddy who I have realized is an ass!"
John Wayne lost it at that sentence grabbing me by my shoulders and slamming me down in the ground. I tried to get him off but he put one arm over my throat and his other held my wrists above my head. "Shut up, Y/n. You don't know what you're talking about."
"You're just upset cause I might be right - ah!" I croaked when he pushed his arm on my throat down a little more.
His eyes locked onto mine seeing some tears welling in my eyes. "She's my daughter and you can't keep her from me."
"Urgh!...watch me." I bared my teeth moving one of my knees in between his legs and just kicked him right in his nuts.
JW groaned in pain collapsing on the ground. "You bitch!"
Scrambling to my feet I took the keys out of my pocket and opened my driver door. Getting into the seat I locked all the doors seeing him forcing himself to his feet. "He won't hurt us baby girl." I whispered to my sleeping daughter starting the engine.
JW got up against my window making me jump but I held my foot above the gas pedal. "She's my daughter. You can't keep her from me forever. I will find you!" Slamming my foot on the pedal and spun the steering wheel driving around him and leaving a cloud of dust. Racing down the driveway I gripped the steering wheel never looking back knowing it was good that I was getting away from him. He would have only hurt me and Reese.
2 months later
Shutting the passenger door behind me I take Reese's hand in mine and we walked up towards the small grocery store we had parked at. We had driven as far from the Kleinsasser's ranch as I could get until I felt safe that JW wouldn't follow me. Opening the door the store owner saw us greeting us nicely. "How are you two girls doing this morning?"
"Pretty good thank you." I replied moving down the isle with chips grabbing a bag of regular lays potato chips.
Reese tugged my shirt. "I want Chetas."
"Okay we can get Cheetos. What do you want to drink?" I asked her to put the other bag back and get the one she wanted.
She ran up to the glass cases with the drinks inside. "Chocolate milk!"
"Got it. And we can have some chicken breast for dinner." I picked up the carton and a pack of meat going to the check out. Laying everything out the owner scanned everything. "How much do I owe ya?"
He said back. "$13. 23."
"Oh geez. I uh...I only have six dollars and ten cents." I apologize remembering that I had to use most of the cash I had grabbed for gas. And I wouldn't have anyone money until I got a job wherever we ended up staying.
The owner shakes his head no. "I'm sorry ma'am. It would be fine if you had like twelve dollars instead. You'll have to get rid of the chicken."
"Sir you don't understand we haven't eaten dinner and that would just leave us with chips and milk. She's five years old and I can't feed her like that all the time." I explained to him that I was beginning to panic.
He gave me a disappointing look but still wanted close to the amount due. "I'm sorry miss. But this is how I feed my family."
"Come on, baby. Well get food somewhere else hopefully." I gently pushed her towards the door about to leave, seeing a young boy that looked a little older than my daughter.
He entered the store rushing past us and grabbing some candy cheering. "Dad they have sour candy!"
"Tate, slow down now." Glancing at the new voice I saw the man that was his father brush past me where I dropped some of my money on the floor. "Oh man I'm sorry ma'am."
We both lowered ourselves on our knees picking up the change quickly. "You're okay. It was my fault..." Shifting my gaze up slightly I noticed that the guy before me was wearing a tan jacket and black dusty cowboy hat. He had curly light brown hair and soft brown eyes with a slight stubble reminding me somewhat of JW.
"Here you go. I am sorry again Ms..." He trailed off raising himself to his feet and I followed shortly.
Taking the money from his hand I introduced myself. "Y/n and you are?"
"Kayce, Kayce Dutton." He extended his hand and we shook, moving his gaze over my shoulder since he was slightly taller than me. "Tate, hey leave the girl alone."
Tate, as he called him, was showing my daughter his favorite candy's. "I was just showing her candy."
"He's fine, Kayce. Now if you'll excuse us we'll be going. Reese let's go!" I called over my shoulder, having my daughter run up and taking my hand. I hers once more almost getting through the doorway.
Kayce's voice made me half in my tracks. "Are these your groceries?" He pointed at the food that we had left on the checkout counter.
"Oh yeah. I...I don't have enough money for all of it." I drop my gaze to the ground in embarrassment.
Kayce reached into his pocket, taking out his wallet and handing the owner the amount that was still on the computer screen. "Can I get a bag for her stuff and the sour candy too."
"Sure." The cashier took his cash and went to bag up both our stuff.
Parting my mouth I raised my freehand trying to pay him with what money I had. "You really didn't have to do that for us....uh here it's not much but it's what I have at the moment."
"You keep it. It's not a problem, Y/n." He held up a hand picking up the bags coming over to me and handing me my groceries.
Tate suddenly spoke up to my daughter. "Do you like ice cream?"
"Yeah." She smiled brightly.
He shrugged his shoulders. "There's some down the street. Dad, can we get them ice cream?"
"That's not my call, son. And I bet Y/n and her daughter have somewhere to be." Kayce told his son who dropped his smile.
Reese ran forward giving me puppy dog eyes. "Please mommy. Pretty please."
"Reese, I can't..." I started to say but I could never say no to her puppy eyes. She tilted her head not backing down and so I ended up caving. "Okay we can go. But then I have to start looking for a job since we'll be out of money."
Reese hugged me tightly, giggling. "Thank you!"
The four of us got in our separate cars and drove down to the ice cream shop down the road that Tate talked about. Shutting my car door Reese and Tate ran straight in front of us with me and Kayce walking slowly behind them. Kayce and Tate both got strawberry ice cream. Reese got chocolate and I picked cookies and cream. We all sat down on separate benches outside the shop. Biting into my cone I hummed at the good taste until Kayce caught my attention. "Hey I heard you say that you don't have much money. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"Kayce you've done enough for us. I'll surely be able to find a job on my own." I said holding my cone in both hands looking in his direction.
The youngest Dutton boy wouldn't take no for an answer after seeing you with your five year old kid reminding him of how he was with Tate when he was a baby. "I'm just wanting to help and you can still say no. I just thought I should offer you a trip to my family's ranch. My father is always open to getting some more work hands and he pays rather well."
"Holy crap that's extremely generous." I ran a hand through my hair hearing Tate and Reese laughing behind us making me reconsider my answer. "You know what I guess it can't hurt to take you up on your offer."
Kayce smiled back at me taking a bite of his cone. "Hey Reese, you wanna see some horses?"
"I love horses!" She spun around in her chair making me chuckle eating more of my ice cream seeing that we might be going in the right direction here in this part of Montana.

bees 13 for the prompts :)
13. ribbon
beacon bees for you. in my head there's a whole au where yang finds out that blake is a faunus before everyone else and in that it happens differently but here's a snippet of an au of that au
"Do you think I could pull off the bow look?"
Blake looks up from her homework at the question, away from the desk and over to where Yang is lounging on her stomach on Blake's(!!!) bed. She has one of Blake's spare ribbons in her hands, and holds it up atop her head with a grin when she realizes that Blake is actually giving her the attention she's looking for.
"I don't think it would go with your hair," Blake says. "Or your color scheme."
"No?" Yang tips her head, still holding the ribbon up. "I think it's worth a shot. Wanna tie it for me?"
"Yang."
"Or not," Yang says, lowering the ribbon. "It's your stuff. Sorry."
"That's not what I'm—" Blake sighs. "Give me the stupid ribbon."
"Thank you," Yang says with a grin, holding the scrap of fabric out. Blake gets up from her chair at the desk and takes the ribbon, sitting down on the edge of her bed facing Yang. Yang sits up onto her knees, scooting back to make room for Blake. Blake takes the ribbon, holds it up, and—
"I don't know how to do this," she realizes. "It's...all wrong." She doesn't know where to begin without a set of ears to wrap the ribbon around. What else is she supposed to tie it to?
"Would it help if I turned around?" Yang says, not waiting for an answer before she does so. It does not help at all because it doesn't cause her to spontaneously sprout another set of ears, but Blake makes a few meaningless motions atop Yang's head anyway, running the ribbon through her hair like she's trying to figure it out.
Yang's hair is so soft. It brushes against the backs of Blake's fingers, and she fights the urge to turn her hands over and feel it with her fingertips. Blake hasn't asked, and Yang would say no anyway; she's so protective of her hair.
Come to think of it, why had Yang asked her to do this in the first place? It would inevitably involve some degree of hair touching, and Blake's been led to believe that's a serious no-no with Yang. She doesn't even let Ruby touch it most of the time, not unless she needs help with something. For all that Yang is open and free with physical affection, her hair is completely off-limits, as far as Blake knows. So why...
"Yeah, I can't do this," Blake announces, because going any further down that line of thought is going to seriously damage her ability to make good choices right now. "Sorry." She lowers the ribbon back into her lap. Yang spins in place to face her.
"It's okay," Yang says. She doesn't seem too bothered by Blake's failure. "Like you said, it probably wouldn't work for me anyway." They look at each other for a moment. "It's just too hard to do on someone else, huh?"
It's an innocuous statement, and certainly not anything Blake should read into. She should just nod and move along, and yet...something about how Yang says it...
"Why do you think I wear the bow all the time?" Blake asks. Yang takes a moment to answer, and that confirms it for Blake. If Yang didn't already know the answer, the question would garner immediate confusion. Why does anyone wear anything? But no. Yang takes her time, considers it, and then says—
"Because you want to." Yang's voice is quiet and even. Far too serious for a discussion about idiosyncratic fashion choices.
"You know," Blake says. It isn't a question. Yang lets out a long exhale.
"I don't assume anything about you that you don't tell me," she says. "That's important to me. If we want this to work out, we can't make assumptions about each other."
"But you still know."
"I'll know if you tell me."
"Are you going to tell anyone?"
"Gossiping about my partner based on things I don't even know would be kind of a dick move," Yang says. "Is that the kind of person I seem like?" Blake shouldn't know. They've only known each other a few weeks; Yang could be hiding all kinds of cruel depths, no matter how much Blake doubts it. "No," Yang says after a moment of protracted silence. "I'm not going to tell anyone."
"Thank you," Blake says. Yang shrugs. Uncomfortable, Blake stands from the bed and returns to her seat at the desk, turning away from Yang to better hide the turmoil she's feeling.
She should've expected this, really. She's hardly the first Faunus to ever hide their trait. Capes, hats, long sleeves, hell, the bow trick isn't even unique to her. Of course someone has figured it out. She should leave. She should run. She should—
"Hey, Blake?"
Blake looks over her shoulder at Yang.
"Your bow is twitching."
Blake's hands fly up, and sure enough, her ears are moving beneath the fabric, fighting to express the discomfort that the rest of her is trying to hide. With a huge effort of will, she stills them, straightens her bow, and returns to her reading, even as the words of her textbook swim around the page in front of her.
"Hey, Blake?"
"Yang, I swear," Blake says, looking over her shoulder, "if you don't let me concentrate I will take that stupid ribbon and gag you with it." Yang blinks once, twice, mouth slightly open in shock, then she grins wickedly.
"Don't threaten me with a good time."
Blake turns back to her homework with a huff.
It's fine. Yang's fine. Yang won't tell anyone. Yang is still (jokingly? definitely jokingly) flirting with her, despite knowing the truth, despite seeing it with her own eyes. It's fine. It's fine.
Blake can stay.

Some Crack
AN: I haven’t wrote any crack in a while.
“Well fuuuuuck, you too!” Jaune yells into his scroll, as he storms around the room knocking down anything on the shelves.
Nora and Pyrrha hide under the bed holding each other, while Ren is on-top of the bed in a pillow fort.
“Pssst~, Pyrrha!” Nora yells into Pyrrha’s elbow.
“Yes?” Pyrrha asks, with her head on top of Nora, petting the smaller red-head.
“What’s Jaune mad about?”
Crash!
A book shelf topples over, spilling out Nora’s collection of syrups.
“You harpy-ious whore!” Jaune kicks the bookshelf out of his way. The words, dick and fox and cream cheese come out of the phone, but and not necessary in that order, Jaune screams back into the scroll. “I will rip out your trachea and rub sandpaper through it, bitch!”
Pyrrha shivers. “I don’t know, but I find it kinda hot!”
Nora’s head looks down at her now wet legs. “I kinda noticed.” She taps the top of the bed. “Ren?”
“Who disturbs the Wizard of the Cloud-Pillow Fortress?” Ren answers, as a piece of the bed slides back, showing Ren’s eyes.
“Nora. Me. I disturb you.”
A boot goes flying through the wall.
Followed by a wall flying through the wall.
Replacing the back wall with the front wall, leaving a open entrance into the hallway, where everybody could see what was going on. If they were going through the hallway, which Dr. Oobleck was, who merely looked on in horror before running away.
“And we both knew that I was faking it!” Jaune bellowed into his scroll, with the sounds of sobbing coming out of it. “Say it again! I double dragon dare you to say that about by cinnamon apple muffins! ... How dare you!” Jaune eyes start to water.
“Ren, who’s Jaune talking too?”
“I dunno.”
Blake peeps through the opening too.
Much to Ren’s surprise.
“How long have you been in here? Wait how did you get in here?”
Blake looks at Ren with maximum dilated pupils. “If I fitz, I sitz.”
“If we fitz we sitz!” Chimes in several other cat Faunus, including Sienna, Neon, and Kali, who almost now were inside the pillow fort.
“Ahh!” Ren yelps and hides under the bed with Nora and Pyrrha. “Why is it so wet down here?”
Jaune kicks open team RWBY’s door, storming in and knocking over the bunk beds and anything on the walls. “Why are you like this! We could have shined like diamond and twinkies together! But, NNOOOOOOO! You had to be a smelly pirate mobster!
Blake slaps a sign on the pillow fort reading, ‘Kitty Faunus only!’ Sun, Adam, and Ghira look disappointedly at before wandering off to go get drunk together.
Ren begins mobbing under the bed, with Pyrrha and Nora hiding on Jaune’s bed now, surprised to find the remaining members of team RWBY hiding there already, with Cinder’s team hiding underneath.
Nora looks disappointingly. “Dang it.”
Ruby looks smugly at them, holding a Jaune dakimakura. “You snooze you loose. Anyway, why’s Jaune so mad?”
Jaune had wandered into the courtyard, and flipped a station wagon that was parked next to the fountain.
Peter Port looks at his wrecked car, a single tear rolling down his cheek.
Weiss blushes. “It’s kinda hot, though.”
Pyrrha opens her mouth to agree, but Nora covers it with her hand. “We know, anyway, no idea.”
Jaune walks up the side of Ozpins tower, the Wizard standing protectively in-front of his coffee maker.
“I want my son back, Jennifer! I will win the custody battle, you mad-woman!”
A look of understanding hits the assembled hunters and villains.
“Wait, he has a son!?” Ruby says with shock.
“He was married!?“ Pyrrha asks.
“So, that means he’s single, right?” Cinder realizes smugly.
Everyone looks at her, disappointingly.
“What, not like the rest of you weren’t thinking it!”
Then they all look away whistling, innocently.
“And, I’ve finally cleaned up that stain.” Ren nods to himself.
Jaune walks back in. “Guys, can I ask you one of you act as witness of my moral character in court?”
They look around the batter, broken, and beaten room, like a hurricane had gone through it.
Sun, Adam, and Ghira reappear. “We will do it!”
And so the four of them left, as brothers!

Heya Bridgy. You might remember the transfer student Weiss au? I thought of a redux for that one. Weiss is still a transfer student from Atlas, only she's already had a stint as team leader, which she failed at due to a white fang ambush killing her team and blinding her left eye. Most of the angst would therefore stem from Weiss' hatred of the fang (more justified in this case compared to canon) and distrust of faunus in general (again more justified) TL;DR: Weiss once had her own Atlas team that got wiped by the Fang in an ambush, she knows now she's not suited to being leader, so no conflict with Ruby on that front, but has a severe grudge against the Fang and intense distrust of Faunus in general. Just, putting this out there.
(If you wanted a bit more justification, I could easily do that, but let me set up a few things)
Weiss took a breath as she walked through the halls of Beacon, heart racing as she kept her eyes on the doors she passed. Her fingers absentmindedly tapped against the paper she held in her hands that told her which dorm was hers for the new team she was joining now that she had officially transferred to Beacon. Though, the longer she walked, the more she felt like she didnt belong. And those fears only deepened as she finally made it to her dorm room and gently opened the door to meet her new team.
“We’re going to be late to class-” Ruby stopped mid step as the door opened, rose petals starting to swirl around her as she stood face to face with Weiss. She cleared her throat and tried to straighten herself up. “You… must be our new teammate.”
“I am.” Weiss looked Ruby over and pulled out her scroll to start pulling up the notes she was provided on her team. She put up a quick smile as she found Ruby’s picture, then slowly dropped it as she read over the notes she was given. “And… you’re a child…”
“I’m sixteen!”
“You’re supposed to be seventeen to even start at Beacon. What are you even doing here?”
“She was given special permission by the headmaster to be here,” Yang answered as she finished getting dressed. “We can talk more after class.”
“I think I’m going to need a bit of time to settle down first before I can start classes.” Weiss slowly walked into the room. “Long flight from Atlas and… still not exactly adjusted to Vale. But I’ll stay out of the way today and make sure I’m ready for class tomorrow.”
“Oh, alright.” Ruby paused, then quickly turned around. “The bed under mine is open for you to take. Otherwise, make yourself at home. There should still be some empty spots in the closet and the bathroom cabinet if you need it and feel free to move some of Yang’s hair products if you need to.”
“Please make sure not to throw any of it out though,” Yang added. “Oh, and do not touch the bookshelf. Blake is particular about her books and if she finds any that are out of order, you’ll have to deal with her on your own.”
Weiss looked over to the bookshelf and made a note on her scroll. “Bottom bunk, do not touch bookshelf, and free space in cabinet and closet.” She shut her scroll off and looked over to her two teammates. “And will I get to meet Blake today?”
“I’ll make sure she comes around after class!” Ruby called out as she rushed off in a flurry of petals.
Weiss let out the breath she didnt realize she had been holding and dropped her bags to the ground as she looked over the “bunk beds” in the room. She placed a hand against the ropes that held Ruby’s bed above an empty one and let out a sound of disgust as she pulled her hand away. While it was clear that the beds werent exactly like the ones at Atlas, she wasnt exactly thrilled about sleeping under a makeshift bunk held together by rope. Though, she did have to admit, the knots were tight and well done.
She pulled her scroll out again and started to look up her team once more. There wasnt much she was thrilled about with Ruby, much less with the idea of her being the team leader at such a young age, though it wasnt like she could really argue with not being the leader. She had her chance and her failure was what brought her here. Then there was her sister, Yang. Surprisingly, she was one of the top students of Beacon in both academics and combat, only rivaled by Pyrrha in both. And then there was Blake, who was much of a mystery. No formal schooling, no mention of which kingdom she was from beyond that she had traveled around outside kingdom walls, and yet, she passed the entrance exam without issue.
Weiss sat down, eyes still on the picture of Blake on her scroll. Her eyes went to the bow she wore, heart thumping in her chest with the fear of what someone like Blake could be hiding. Finally, she tossed her scroll to the side and laid down on her bed and took a few breaths to calm herself. “You can do this Weiss. Just like you told Winter and General Ironwood. No one will hurt you while you’re here.”
She jumped as she heard an alarm go off on her scroll. She quickly picked it up to shut it off and sighed when she looked at the time. She picked herself up, dug through her things, and pulled out her medication and made her way to the bathroom. She paused as she looked at herself in the mirror, focusing on the two scars that ran across her left eye. Her hand shakily moved to them and traced them as her heart pounded in her chest. She could still feel the cold metal digging into her, the pain she felt as she was left blinded in one eye, the screams of her teammates as she was dragged away for ransom.
Without another thought, Weiss quickly opened her medication and took a pill to help calm herself, her heart beat starting to slow as she tried to pull herself away from those thoughts. She slowly gripped the edge of the counter as her arms shook, no longer sure when she started to breathe heavily. After a few minutes, she finally managed to calm herself and corrected her posture as she looked herself over and checked to make sure her contact was still in her left eye. Once she had composed herself, she took a breath and started to unpack her things. She was going to make sure that things were different this time. She was not going to let another team down. Not again.

Surprise?
For @rebelrayne
Lucas x MC
Angst to fluff
Life should’ve been perfect.
They won Love Island. They were making time for each other in their relationship in the real world. They were growing closer than ever.
But then Lucas’s parents began digging into his brain. They fed him doubts.
Making him second guess every decision he’d made, had him questioning Penelope’s loyalty, left him wondering if they were seeing something he wasn’t.
He wasn’t naive enough to believe his parents outright. They never supported the way he lived his life, the plans he’d made for himself. But they’d liked Penelope so much when they first met her. Always asking him to bring her back for another visit, always asking how she was when they talked. If they liked her, they wouldn’t lie…right?
His parents had made comments about her traveling for her job as she toured with her band, how she spent more time away from him than home. Made comments about her being too close to the other Islanders even after their time ending, but he thought it was fair to be close to them. But then the more he thought about it, the more he realized that for the past month she’s been whispering with Bobby and they’d both stop whenever he walked in. Hope wouldn’t look him in the eye when he mentions her. Gary always has some place to run if he tries to talk about it. Chelsea won’t even answer him. He reminds himself that he trusts Penelope more than he trusts his parents about her. But then why were the things they said becoming clear as day with the distance she was making between them? She was spending more nights at her own flat than at his, and when he would offer to stay with her she would make excuses that she needed to be up early for work. They were supposed to be looking for flats together- it was what she said she wanted. But even Priya was ducking his calls to see if she was still speaking to her about it.
He was facing what he was already afraid to realize. Maybe Penelope just didn’t love him anymore. Maybe it really was just a summer of love and she was too afraid to break it off.
He turned to the only person he could think of with Henrik also blowing off his calls.
Blake was confused when her phone rang, Lucas’s name lighting up across the screen. They had long gotten past the infatuation they had with each other, and she and Penelope had gotten past her mean words at the finale, but it wasn’t often either of them reached out to her. Blake was never offended by that, she understood why it would be awkward. Lucas had brought her back to the Villa, essentially telling Penelope that he didn’t trust her to stick with him. She could see why that would make a close friendship hard.
Still, she answered the call expecting news of an engagement or one of them getting a promotion. She didn’t expect to be met with what he said.
“Could you meet me for coffee? I think I’m being dumped.”
Blake sat at the cafe table, tapping her stirrer against the rim of her cup as Lucas recalled everything that had been happening. How their friends were brushing him off, Penelope being more guarded about her phone, always rushing off when Bobby called. When he finished, she hummed.
“Do you trust her?”
“Well, yeah, but-“
Blake shook her head. “Babes, look deep in your heart, right now. Ignore what your parents said, ignore everything but your gut feeling here. Do you trust her?”
“Yes.”
Blake shrugged, “I’m sorry but that’s all you can do. She’ll either hurt you, or she won’t. And- I don’t say this to be mean- but you didn’t trust her once and I saw the way it almost broke her. Even with that brave face she put on saying she was happy for us. Rewatch that episode if you don’t believe me. I know tensions were high, and you might not have noticed it at the time, but you’ll see it.”
They talked a bit more about various things before Lucas decided to head home and take her advice. He queued up the episode with the stick or switch, watched the way Penelope was clearly upset, tears filling her lash line even as she smiled at him and offered her support. The way she needed to brace herself before approaching him on the roof terrace.
It made sense. Lucas knew he could trust her. She wasn’t a mean person. If she moved on from him, she would tell him.
He decided to head to her place, not something they usually did. His place was usually the go to, and he wondered how long she’d been accommodating him when he didn’t for her.
He had his own key, so when he saw her car he left himself in, catching the end of a conversation, “You can’t tell him. It’ll ruin everything.”
“He’ll find out eventually, babe.” That was Bobby, but it wasn’t in person. She must’ve been FaceTiming him.
“I just need a week. Then it won’t matter anymore, the secret will be out.” Then they said their goodbyes, and Lucas shut the door a little louder than necessary.
She ran into the living room to find him, and he gave her a smile and a hug, “Hey, love. I missed you so I thought I’d come to you this time.”
Penelope’s eyes shined with surprise and affection as she excitedly returned the embrace and launched into telling him about her day.
A week, huh? Lucas guessed that if that’s how long he got her, he’d make the most of it and deal with the pain later.
The Sunday dinner with his parents was rough. They kept making not so subtle digs at both of them, and Penelope didn’t offer up much resistance because she had repeatedly made the point that she didn’t want to be labeled as the over defensive girlfriend. She wanted their approval. She didn’t look to him for help, like most would expect. She had told him to just let what they say go. But Lucas tried where he could, and their doubts started creeping back into his mind as the night wore on. He might only have her until the end of the week, then they could say ‘I told you so’ and go back to only questioning his professional choices.
That Saturday, it was coming. Whatever it was, he knew by the end of the night he’d end up in tears that he would hide away.
When Penelope picked him up, she wouldn’t tell him what they were doing. She drove just a few minutes from his flat, pulling up outside a building only familiar because he passed it every day. He knew what it was, flats that were a cross between her low rent style and his posh style, but he couldn’t think of anyone he knew that would be living there. None of their friends had mentioned moving, let alone so close to him. They entered the lobby, and he registered how nervous she seemed as she pressed the button to call the lift, before hitting the floor button. She led him down the hall, raising her fist to knock on a door, but he stopped her.
“Am I supposed to be meeting the guy?”
She blinked, her brow furrowing, “What? Meeting who?”
“I-“ he shook his head, “It’s going to sound even stupider if I say it out loud. My parents were pointing out the distance between us, and you’ve been so secretive, and I just thought-“ her eyes widened in realization but he continued, “It’s daft to think. Even more so when I realize you wouldn’t be bringing me to meet him at his place, but-“
She pounded on the door quickly, effectively shutting him up, before grasping his hand like she was afraid he’d pull a runner. The door swung open a second later, Priya beaming from the other side, “Glad you two could make it! Come in, come in.” The entry of the flat was decorated, but it was sparsely furnished, and as soon as they crossed the threshold all of the Islanders jumped out, “SURPRISE!”
Lucas damn near had a heart attack. “GAH! What the hell is happening?”
“House warming party, babes!”
“House warming-“ he glanced at Penelope, who was nervously twiddling with her rings.
“I kind of, might’ve, maybe, definitely already leased this place for us. I was trying to make it a surprise, but instead I had you second guessing everything and I’m sorry but-“
Lucas cut her off with a kiss, “I’m sorry, love. I wasn’t trying to doubt you, but I was having trouble coming up with alternatives. Like why you were so sneaky about talking to Bobby of all people.”
“Oi! I’ll have you know I was busy making a cake to her exact specifications!” The baker called out, wheeling out a cake that was an edible replica of the Villa.
Blake waved from the corner, “Sorry I couldn’t be more reassuring. She called me the day after we talked and let me in on the secret.” Lucas just held his girl tight as the others got the party moved going.
Lucas was right. He did end up with tears in his eyes that night. But not because his heart was broken. Instead it was because it had never felt more full.

Description: Blake decides to take Mihaly to a hunting spot to stop some special type of bears.
Here we see the Danceverse Crew's house, where it got some massive upgrades now that new people got in. Here we see Mihaly meditating before there was a knock on their door. They've stopped meditating to answer it and saw Blake standing there holding two guns.
"Come with me, I'll explain on the way." Was all he said before Mihaly walked out the room and left the house with him.
"So, why did you give me a gun?" Mihaly asked him
"Well, you see. Since Night Swan has heard how we've expanded, she's gonna start expanding to a lot of places, and grab any people or animal to become part of her army. So, we gotta start covering some bases. And, one of those bases may as well be the woods." He answered. "She probably already has a bear or two sent out here so, we gotta keep our eyes out for them. It won't be too bad..." They both stopped as they saw that Night Swan has turned every bear into her minion. They start to growl at Blake and Mihaly.
"YOU SAID IT WOULDN'T BE TOO BAD!!!" Mihaly yelled at Blake
"WELL, OBVIOUSLY, I DIDN'T THINK THAT NIGHT SWAN WOULD TURN EVERY SINGLE BEAR INTO A MINION!!" Blake yelled back as they dodged the first swipe of the bear's claws and hid in the bushes.
"Okay, we may just have to shoot these bears." Blake said
"But, what if we don't have enough ammo?" Mihaly asked
"Then, you better start fighting them." He replied, as they saw the first bear creeping up to them, Mihaly aimed their weapon at the bear and shot it in the crystal on top of their head. As they bear turned back, Blake looked at Mihaly confused. "The crystals on the head is how Night Swan keeps them under her command." Mihaly said "Shoot the crystals, the bears will turn back." Blake obliged and shot the crystal on another bear as that bear turned back, they both shot a couple more bears until all that stood was one more bear. They both tried to shoot at it but they've realized that both their guns are empty.
"Crap, we don't have any more ammo!" Mihaly said as they saw Blake get up and started fighting the bear. Mihaly was surprised that he did this, Blake looked back at Mihaly. "Help me out, please!" He yelled at them as they got up and tried to punch the crystal. But, both of them got swiped by the bears claw. Both of them got up with claw mark on eachother's clothes.
"I got a plan." Mihaly said as they ran to the bear, jumped up, and put their hands on the crystal
"Ultimate Zen: Force Palm!" They said as they broke the crystal and slammed the bear on the ground. Mihaly fell and got up as Balke ran over and pulled them out.
"Are you okay, Mihaly?" Blake asked them
"Yeah, I'm good." Mihaly saidas they saw the bear get up and ran away.
"Let's go home before more bears come and kill us." Blake said
"Good Idea." Mihaly said as they both ran back to the house and entered the door
"Blake, Mihaly, where the heck you two been?" Wanderlust asked them
"Ah, some crazy circumstances, but we're still kicking." Mihaly answered
"Well, come on. Dinner's ready." He said as they walked back in the house

Acclimating oneself into a team who seems to be so attached to each other that they would take a bullet for each other is certainly hard, but it’s especially harder when bullets are a real thing they may encounter on a daily basis. So what better way to get to know anyone than to throw a small dinner party? Nothing bad has ever come of those, right? Surely not.
Imagine Jack Crawford’s surprise when he got a hand-written letter on his desk inviting him to dinner at Blake Adler’s home. Or the fact that he wasn’t the only one to get the expensive piece of parchment with his name is calligraphy. It seems she also invited Doctor Hannibal Lecter who he’s never seen interact with Blake before, maybe this was her way of networking? Hannibal did work with their team a lot and Blake hasn’t had a chance to see him much yet. Invitations were also handed out to Doctor Alana Bloom–another Jack realized they didn’t interact with each other–and Will Graham. Will may have been the only person Jack has seen Blake talk to, besides Beverly, but their conversations were short and to the point. Possibly because it’s been slow the past week Blake has been admitted into the Behavioral Unit.
Maybe the serial killers knew to take a break.
As Jack looked up at the house in front of him, he stepped up the stairs to the door. It was a cold Virgina evening, the beginning of winter so he bundled up accordingly. Jack studied the house for a while. It was a small two-story house, more like a cottage–more than enough room for one woman–it had deep blue siding and a black roof with gothic looking windows. If he could guess anyone lived here, it would be Blake Adler. They somehow matched well.
“Jack! Hey, want to come in?” Blake said from the doorway, a light smile on her lips. She also seemed to be bundled up accordingly, a simple deep chocolate sweater and some jeans on. Jack nodded kindly and entered her home. A wash of warmth ran through him. “Hannibal and Alana have already tried asking for wine, but I find it…. Disgusting. Though, I can make mixed drinks.” She said, motioning over to the coat rack for Jack to hang his on.
As Blake ventured in further to her home, Jack followed her to see Hannibal, Will, and Alana already at the table. They straightened in their seats as Jack came closer, deciding to sit next to Will at the table. Hannibal and Alana had some sort of cocktail in their glasses while Will had water in his.
“So what are we having for dinner?” Jack piped up, a polite smile on his lips as he folded his hands on the table. It smelled good at least, but it didn’t smell like anything in particular that he recognized.
Hannibal hummed, “I believe it’s lasagna.” He answered before Blake could, pursing his lips slightly. He had a much more…. Refined palette.
“Right you are, Doctor Lecter.” Blake winked at the older man as she made her way into the kitchen. “It’s my mom’s recipe. Much more of a homey meal than I’m sure you’re used to, Hannibal.” She joked as she took it out of the oven to serve it on the plates set up next to her. She then began to set the plates in front of each of her guests. “If you’re concerned about what’s in it, it’s a homemade meat sauce with ricotta and parmesan.” Blake explained as she sat down at the head of the table.
Will analyzed the lasagna in front of him for a moment before he gathered some on his fork and hummed as the food hit his tongue. He hasn’t really had a home made meal in a while and having one alone with his dogs didn’t…. Have the same effect. It felt…. Strangely nice, as if there was warmth trying to escape from him.
“This is delicious, Doctor Adler.” Alana complimented, wiping her mouth with a napkin after a few bites. She seemed very genuine. But then again Blake is very…. Suspicious of others and how they word things.
Blake smiled graciously at Alana, “Thank you. And you can call me Blake, you met me on the first day anyway.” She shrugged innocently as she went to take another bite. Alana may have thought certain things when she found Blake and Will in a lecture hall together but it wasn’t what it appeared to be to her. Or perhaps, it was just the start of it.
Alana blushed, embarrassed as she looked down at her plate. Hannibal and Will looked amused as they ate their plate of food. “Is there any particular reason you invited us here today?” Hannibal asked, carefully lifting his fork to his mouth. Compared to the rest of them, he was a slow eater.
“Well, I wanted to get to know the people I’ll most likely be working with very closely for the foreseeable future. And, perhaps, you could get to know me.” Blake explained, taking a sip of her sparkling cider. She shrugged as she looked at the others at the table, “You can ask me questions and I’m hoping I can ask you some as well.”
Alana pushed her fork around on her plate, “I was wondering why you chose to opt out of having a Bureau approved psychiatrist.” She admitted softly. Blake’s eye twitched slightly, unsure how she was meant to take that.
“I have my own psychiatrist which I trust and have been with since I graduated college. I simply wouldn’t trust you or Doctor Lecter enough to not tell the Bureau absolutely everything I might say in sessions.” Blake said, finishing up her meal as she gave Alana a light smile. Hannibal cocked his head at Blake. “My therapist, Doctor Martin, is very great at knowing which information to give Jack and which information is more private. No offense, Jack, but you do ask for a lot.” She mused softly.
Jack shrugged, “None taken. And, to ease your worries, Doctor Bloom, Doctor Martin is very experienced and obviously has a great relationship with Blake. I wouldn’t break them apart just for convenience.” He admitted softly.
“Hmm.” Will hummed, thinking it was funny. If he’s known Jack to want anything, it’s convenience. After all, he’s decided Hannibal needed to be his therapist after Alana talked about just how good he was.
Blake looked at Will’s direction before averting her gaze down to the fizzing bubbles in her glass. “Therapy helped me learn a lot about myself. Not to mention putting names to things I do. For instance, to do what I wanted to do today I’m doing a lot of masking. Not necessarily intentional but helps me portray myself as ‘normal’ in others’ company.” She explained, not sure why necessarily she’s telling psychiatrists things they would most likely already know. But then again, you may forget some things after you get your PhD and licensing to be a practicing therapist.
"People on the autism spectrum are more common than one would think, after all, diagnosis was not at all accurate in the early 1900s." Hannibal nodded, adjusting the way his tie laid across his chest.
Blake chuckled softly and nodded as well before she glanced at Will who seemed to be more interested in a specific groove in her wooden table. She pursed her lips, remembering what it felt like to not be included. Whether it was in conversations with friends or simply not being there all together, it was hard. Blake never wanted anyone to feel as if they were left out, sometimes to the point where she'd take on too much at once.
"What do you do in your spare time, Will?" Blake asked, an expression of genuine curiosity to get to know him on her face.
Will answered simply, "I fish." He gave a slightly strained smile, feeling as if Blake only asked the question out of courtesy.
Blake let out a light hum, "I used to fish with my grandparents. Grandpa would take me and my brothers out on his pontoon and, if I was lucky, I'd be able to drive it." Her eyes glazed over slightly as she recounted the memory. Blake was certainly more open than Will would have anticipated.
"What do you…. Do in your spare time?" Will inquired back, feeling much more interested in talking about Blake than himself. The attention of the table turned to her.
Jack pursed his lips, cocking his head as he thought about what Blake might do. She was a somewhat outspoken girl, dyeing her hair might be on the list.
Blake glanced around the table for a moment and let out a dramatic sigh, "I sing. Definitely not well but it gets the emotions out." She admitted with a laugh. "Also boxing, that's pretty good too." Then something else popped into her mind. "And driving! When I was younger, my brothers would take me to race tracks and I always wanted to learn. I eventually did when I turned about twenty, probably would've been the job I picked before I found this."
Alana blinked at her small story. "You would have…. Become a race car driver? And chose the FBI over that?" She was completely shocked.
"Yeah, well, we all start somewhere." Blake chuckled softly. "Mine just so happened to be in my Dad's garage, learning how to change his van's oil when I was ten." She shrugged, fiddling a little with her sleeve.
Jack joked, "Well, now I know how to call when I need to get my next tire rotation."
—-------
After dinner, it was just Blake and Will left. So Blake began washing some dishes, deciding not to kick Will out of her house even if she did have the nagging want to be alone all of the sudden. Blake hummed softly as she set the rinsed dishes into the dishwasher and turned it on.
"Did you really want to be a race car driver?" Will asked, arms folded against his chest as he leaned against the counters. At this proximity, Will almost had to look up to see Blake's face.
Blake hummed in response. "Before I…. Matured, it was fairly easy for me to get in and out of the cars." She explained softly. "But then I was diagnosed and was suddenly very interested in how the brain works and why certain people are the way that they are."
"Your conclusion?" Will asked.
Blake gave the man a light smile and shrugged, standing next to Will as she looked at the floors. "Still not sure. Certain things happen when people are born. Autism is not a disorder that is developed, while things like dissociative disorders are usually developed because something happened in your childhood to make you cope in that way. It all really depends on the person and what that particular person is going through. It also depends on what stage in their life it may be happening." She explained, cocking her head slightly.
Will pursed his lips, eyes fixated on the edges of the countertops. Recently, his grasp on time seemed to have been taken away from him. He certainly wasn't sure why, it hasn't happened before but he has been working on cases more frequently than ever. Perhaps it was taking a toll on his mind.
Except with Blake. He can say for certain that he's been present the whole time he was in her home and even on the way there, Will remembered it. Why…. Was it like this? Will barely ever felt safe at work and, now, with him experiencing lost time there as well, it's even harder. But Doctor Blake Adler…. She felt safe. Her whole home screamed it. With its deep blue walls that almost seemed black and the vintage framed posters on the walls, even the green velvet couch in the living room that was just begging for someone to lay on it. Home was foregin to Will Graham. He only ever felt at home with his dogs, even then it was hard to be in the mindset of home.
"Would you…. Want to get coffee?" Will asked, almost pained to be saying the words. "With me?" He wasn't the best at…. This. Talking. Or intentionally trying to be friendly to meet some end goal.
Blake cocked her head for a moment, honestly thinking about which made Will more nervous than it should have. "There's a Starbucks we can walk to that's not too far from the Bureau." She suggested as she went to grab a coat from her chair.
"Not…. Now." Will let out a dry nervous laugh, lips trembling slightly until he felt the coat on his shoulders.
"I know." Blake winked, hands placed gingerly on Will's shoulder. "You looked cold." She said innocently. "I think it's time you go before it gets colder, okay?"
Will blinked at Blake before he pulled his hands through the sleeves of the jacket. He caught a sniff of Blake's perfume, something light but citrus and almost masculine. The sleeves themselves were almost too big for Will, he let out a small huff of a laugh at it.
Blake then pursed her lips in thought. "I can send you home with some hot cider if you'd like." She suggested softly, pulling her hands away from Will's shoulders. "I can promise it cures any type of cold away from your body."
"Oh, um…. Sure." Will smiled lightly, a small one but it was genuine.
Something Blake learned early on was that Will's smiles were never really true. They were remorseful, strained, disgusted, after a sarcastic comment, but never filled with joy as one would hope a smile entailed.
—------
With a thermos full of warm apple cider, Will made it to his house and was greeted by a herd of dogs. He smiled softly at each one of them, carefully patting each on their heads as he made his way inside. Once they calmed, Will sat on the bed in the corner of the room and looked down at the coat still on his shoulders. He tugged it closer to his body, feeling more of that same emotion. Warmth. Will would never have thought warmth could be classified as an emotion but he sure as hell felt it.
After a while, Will grabbed a mug from his kitchen and poured some cider into it. He watched the steam evaporate in front of him, signifying it was still hot even after the long drive home. It had to be about 1 am by the time he reached his house. Will looked somewhat enthralled with it. The cider was a deep golden color but still transparent enough to see the sides of the mug through the liquid.
Lifting the mug to his lips, Will could only describe the smell as a stereotypical fall day. Probably something filled with jumping in piles of leaves. And the taste of it just reinforced that idea. What magic did Blake perform on this liquid to make it so enticing? Either way, Will wanted more. But he knew to pace himself. He had to savor it. Who knew the next time he would have something like this?
Will made his way to his living room yet again and sat cross-legged by the fireplace as he sipped at the cider. Warmth certainly was coursing through his body while his skin still felt slightly cold. Blake was right. The cider was slowly willing that cold away. Will's expression turned to that of fondness as he tugged the coat tighter and took another sip of his cider.
This was possibly the best he's felt in years. Especially now with Will's blackouts, he's never felt more content and present.

After two years living in Italy, you return to Virginia and receive an offer to work in Washington with the BAU after notable contributions with international bureaus. On your first day of work you imagined you would be in a completely unfamiliar and uncomfortable field, but as soon as you saw the familiar face among the agents at the reception you just smiled and ran to Alex, hugging her full of longing and happiness.
Elle Greenaway
Tumblr media
- A week you're picking on Elle and the next her desk is empty, even though you're not that close you were very proud and happy that she got a position in the elite FBI, the place she so longed for. A few months later you are at a bar at your cousin's bachelorette party in Washington, about to bring the fourth shot of tequila to your lips when a man approaches you introducing himself as Derek, you chat for a few minutes until a familiar voice tells him to leave you alone, you turn to find Elle giving you an amused look. "She's too much sand for your little truck, Morgan."
Emily Prentiss
Tumblr media
- It has been almost one year since you have cared for Prentiss and some things have changed in the meantime, after completing a specialization in obstetrics you have gone from being a private nurse to a nurse midwife, caring for pregnant women and assisting with deliveries, doing what you love in bringing little ones into the world. A patient, a victim of kidnapping and abuse recently rescued by the FBI, is admitted to the hospital, in labor and in critical condition. With other women and their babies born in captivity. You successfully save the lives of mother and child, the FBI team came to congratulate your medical team for a job well done, then you reunited her, Emily waited for everyone to leave to approach. "When did you come back? Oh my God, I'm so glad you're safe." you whisper pulling her into a warm hug.
Jennifer Jareau
Tumblr media
- Two weeks! You just can't believe you spent two consecutive weeks unconscious, that bastard got what he wanted, traumatized you to the point that you won't let anyone touch you for fear they might hurt you, the nurse was having trouble giving you the daily dose of medication when the blonde walked into the room, you recognized her immediately as the woman who saved you from that monster and you let your guard down. JJ dismissed the nurse and started a conversation that ended with her managing to convince you to take the cocktail. "Agent Jareau, why are you here?" you questioned after realizing that she didn't need to be here after her work was already finished, the blonde is unresponsive, not knowing what to answer "It's okay, I enjoy your company, please stay with me until I sleep?" She agreed to that and said she bought you something to eat besides hospital food as your first meal when you wake up.
Penelope Garcia
Tumblr media
- Two days after the incident at the coffee shop you receive a call from an unknown number that you happily discover is from the girl who saved your life that day, what would have been a quick 5 minute conversation to schedule a coffee turns into a 30 minute animated conversation with Penelope, she seemed to know your every taste and knew how to approach the subjects with incredible naturalness, both of you had to end the call because of work but made an appointment so that you could reward the blonde. The next day you meet at a themed cafe in the city center, Penelope makes you try some eccentric coffees and desserts, it is a fun afternoon and you talk a lot, promising each other to arrange new dates soon. "I'd love to do it again, how about a bar this time?" she texts you late in the afternoon after dropping you off at home.
Tara Lewis
Tumblr media
- In the end Steven was fired after adulterating reports from an investigation that left you in the hospital for a few days, when returned to the agency they sent you to the therapy again and you thought it wouldn't be all bad to find the same professional, already trusting and even enjoying Lewis' consultations. But she was no longer there, after the whole mess with Barnes resolved she was able to return to her old BAU position, you were happy for her knowing how unfair the reassignment of her as the agents therapist was and how much she wished to return. When the next case was over you went to congratulate her at the BAU building, bringing her flowers and a bottle of wine, Tara was surprised and grateful for the gift of good cheer. "You know, it's late and I'd hate to have to drink that bottle alone, do you want to come over to my apartment? Talk and complain about that asshole Steven. And I can tell you about the embarrassment Barnes went through with the Senator." She winked at you and led the way out of the building.

Day 129: Pangea
cw: mentions homophobic slurs
It was their day off.
Their one day when they didn't have to work and their five year old was at the muggle nursery school. They often cleaned and did laundry on days like these, but they always made a point of spending some quality time together. Harry had realized shortly after they'd adopted Cassie that it really hurt their relationship not to have time they set aside for just the two of them.
Today they were headed to get some ice cream and talking about the slumber party they were going to be hosting in a few days and all of the arrangements that had to be made when Harry's mobile started to ring.
Draco watched curiously as Harry pulled it out of his pocket, "Hello?"
"Yes, hi, is this Mr. Potter Malfoy?" a woman asked.
He glanced at Draco and put the phone on speaker, "Yes, this is Harry."
"Hi," the woman said again, "This is Linda in the school office. We're going to need you to come pick Cassie up."
"What? Why?" Draco asked before Harry could reply. "Is everything alright?"
"Sorry, I have you on speaker so my husband could hear you."
The woman chuckled and Draco looked ready to reach through the screen and strangle her. "Everything's fine. She just had a little disagreement with one of the other students and is pretty upset. The head mistress will have a chat with you when you get here."
"The head mistress!" Draco hissed.
Harry laid a hand on Draco's shoulder. "Thanks for calling us. We'll be right in." He hung up and braced himself for the inevitable.
(Read more below the cut)
"What happened?" Draco asked immediately.
He rolled his eyes and turned around to walk back to their house so they could drive to school, "You heard what I heard," he said. "I don't know any more than you."
"Yes but you went to Muggle primary school!" he protested, walking quicker. "You should have some idea-"
"I don't."
"Do you think it was accidental magic?" Draco asked.
He shook his head. "That was not the sound of a call about accidental magic."
"Then what do you think she was fight about?"
"Draco, there are a thousand things to fight about. Muggle children are just as unpredictable as wizarding children." He reached over and took Draco's hand, "She's only five, how much trouble could she be in?"
----------
When they arrived Cassie was over talking to a different adult and the headmistress waved them in.
She seemed happy enough so Harry let her be and followed the headmistress in, Draco all but vibrating with nervous energy behind him.
"Mr. and Mr. Potter-Malfoy, thank you for coming."
"Harry and Draco are fine," he said.
"What happened?" Draco asked quickly.
Harry glanced at him, "Sorry. We've just never been called in before. Is Cassie in trouble?"
"This afternoon, Cassie told a story to her classmates about how the continents got separated."
"Gaia," Draco nodded. "It's one of her favorites, she likes to hear about how life thrives no matter what."
Harry took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"Right," Headmistress Blake replied, "and that's great. Storytelling improves communication skills and it's great for students to share like that."
"So why are we here?" Draco asked.
"Jacob told her that Gaia wasn't real, that the whole story was made up, and tried to tell her about Pangea."
"Pangea?" Harry asked incredulously. "How old is this kid?"
She chuckled, "His parents are geologists."
"Still!" Harry said, "That's pretty advanced for a five year old." Draco looked completely befuddled as though he had no idea what they were talking about. "But I still don't understand why we're here."
"I'm getting to it," she said. "She tried to tell him that it was just a story that her father told her."
Draco nodded, "Should we not tell her stories like that?" he asked, sounding panicked.
"Not at all," she said, giving him a warm smile in an obvious attempt to diffuse his anxiety. "But Jacob called you a liar and used a bit of derogatory language."
Harry's entire body froze, "Excuse me?" He'd been hoping that she'd be in Hogwarts by the time other kids were old enough to understand the implications of having two dads. It wasn't a big deal in the wizarding world, but it mattered in the muggle world still.
Headmistress Blake nodded, "She told him it wasn't nice to talk about people that way and insisted that Draco wasn't a liar. When Jacob doubled down on the slurs, she punched him."
"Good." Harry covered his mouth, "Sorry," he said quickly. "Sorry, it's just-"
"We have taught our daughter not to hit," Draco insisted, glaring at Harry. And while this was true, they had, it was only because Draco was already teaching her the words for jinxes that would be more effective. She was going to be a terror once she got her wand. "I'm sorry, I'm afraid that I don't understand what sorts of slurs you're referring to."
The headmistress rubbed her eyebrow uncomfortably, "He called you poofs and said that fags can't be trusted," she said and Draco's jaw dropped, his hand clenching Harry's so hard that Harry was afraid he'd need a healing spell cast when this was over. "Other students overheard and told Miss Murray after the fact."
"We taught her not to hit," he said, "But we've also taught her that it's important to stand up for what is right," Harry said. "It sounds like she tried to use her words first and then when that didn't work she used a different means available to her."
"But the next step should have been talking to her teacher, not punching another child."
Harry nodded, "I can understand why you'd-"
"Excuse me, Harry," his husband interrupted, "But I can't," Draco said bluntly. "And here's why; we are raising our daughter to be strong and independent because Salazar knows that women are not taken seriously in this world. Teaching her now that there is someone to help her when she is being verbally assaulted will not help her when she is grown."
"Mr. Potter-Malfoy, I understand what you're saying but-"
Draco shook his head, "With all due respect, there is no but. If her teacher didn't notice that another child was shouting bigoted slurs at her because she has two fathers then no one was coming to her rescue."
The headmistress squared her shoulders, "Cassie's being suspended for two weeks."
"What?" Draco spat.
"We cannot set a precedent that allows for violence to be the answer."
"And what is Jacob's punishment?" Draco demanded.
She blinked at him, "He's got a broken nose."
"Setting aside that his actions still deserve a punishment from a source of authority so he doesn't continue to grow into a bigoted prick, let's just say for the sake of argument," Draco said, voice sharp as nails, "that she'd gone over and told Miss Murray about what he'd said what would his punishment have been?"
"He would to apologize," she replied.
"What? Just said he was 'sorry'?" he asked incredulously. "That's it?"
She nodded, "Yes. He's only five."
He turned to look at Harry completely outraged, "This whole school can fuck off," Draco said, standing from his chair and pointing at Harry, "I told you this was a bad idea."
Harry winced, he had in fact said this was not a great plan, just not for this reason.
"We'll be taking our daughter home today and she will not be coming back," he said. "And we will be telling this story to anyone who will listen."
"Mr-" she started, looking taken aback, since Draco had always been the polite one of the two of them.
"Oh, don't even start with me," he growled. "I run a very successful design business and while I do not understand how most of the social media works, I have someone who I pay to do it and she and I have been friends for a long time. Get ready to lose any family that you have that has a conscience, you can become the place for all backwards bigots." He started toward the door and Harry stood up.
"We'll sue you for slander," she said.
He looked over at her, completely unimpressed, "It's only slander if it's not true."
"It'll be your word against ours," she replied.
A pale eyebrow rose, "Yes it will. Lucky for me that I've recorded this entire lovely exchange," he said, twirling a pen that the Weasleys sold at the joke shop that did just that. "Feel free to contact our solicitor about anything else."
And with that he swanned out of the office.
Harry stared at her for a long moment, "Maybe you should consider educating your parents and students." Then he followed Draco out.
Draco was already squatting next to Cassie, murmuring softly to her, "yes, well done, my darling," he said pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"He was really mean, papa," she murmured.
His husband nodded, "I know, love."
"Hey, bean," Harry said, ruffling Cassie's curls and bending over to kiss her temple. "Let's get out of here, yeah? Do you have all of your things?"
She held up her unicorn backpack and nodded.
Harry helped her get her backpack on and then they set off, each of them holding one of her hands.
Cassie chattered away about the rest of her day, not even mentioning her run in with Jacob again.
-------------
After they put Cassie to bed they came back downstairs and Harry collapsed onto Draco on the sofa, resting his head in his lap.
"Pansy says that story is spreading like wildfire."
"Really?" Harry asked.
Draco nodded.
"S'kinda sexy," he said.
Draco laughed, "Sorry?"
He shrugged a shoulder, "You getting all livid and protective. It was sexy."
His husband's fingers combed through his fringe, "I'll always fight for you, for her, and for us," he promised.
"I know," he replied. "You're a good man Draco Potter Malfoy."
"It's only going to get harder," Draco said.
"Maybe, but we'll look for a more inclusive nursery school-"
Draco shook his head, "I mean when she heads to Hogwarts."
"I don't think so. People don't care about a man marrying another man," he said.
"But they care about the savior marrying a death eater and then disappearing for almost a decade and a half." He sighed, "I just wanted her to start somewhere where my sins wouldn't burden her and here we ar-"
"Hey," Harry said, sitting up and stopping the words coming out of his mouth. "You are not a burden to her and our marriage isn't a sin that could ever burden her-"
"I didn't mean to imply that you-"
"Listen to me," Harry interrupted. "Draco, you are a good dad," he said as he cupped his cheeks in his palms. "You are a good husband and you are a good person. We are both lucky to have you."
"Harry," he murmured, eyes downcast.
"You are," he promised. "I love you and Cassie loves you. and we are so blessed to have you."
"I love you too," he said, "But this isn't the last bully-"
"I know," Harry assured. "And we'll always be here for her, yeah?
Draco took a deep breath before nodding. "Yes. You're right."
"Ooh," Harry replied, crawling over him and straddling his hips. "I love it when I get to be right."
His husband rolled his eyes, "Just kiss me already."
And of course Harry obliged him.
Life wasn't always easy or perfect but they always had each other and Cassie always had two dads who would go to the end of the earth for her.

Best Laid Plans
Several months ago, an anon asked me to write a piece in which the group tries to play matchmaker for Ruby and Penny. This is what that turned into.
Ruby liked Vacuo better than she'd thought she would. Sure, it was unbearably hot most days and a fair amount of the locals seemed rather disgruntled about having more refugees around, especially Atlesian ones,  but she'd take this over Atlas any day.
She was especially relived that she and her group had been allowed to enroll as students at Shade Academy rather than having their Huntsmen licenses renewed. They hadn't been at all ready for the position when General Ironwood had offered it to them, and while there was still a lot to worry about, everyone was glad to have some of the pressure taken off of them. Unfortunately, however, the lowered stress and extra free time had given them an opportunity to concern themselves with things that absolutely did not require their attention, such as Ruby's love life.
Two weeks ago, Ruby had made the horrible mistake of confiding in Yang about her crush on Penny, which had resulted in most of the rest of their friends knowing about it too. Most of them were alright about it, but Yang and Nora were absolutely hellbent on playing matchmaker, and they weren't taking no for an answer.
Every single time one of them caught Ruby alone, they'd plead with her for permission to set up a date so everyone wouldn't have to watch her 'pining' anymore, and no matter how many times she said she didn't want to burden Penny with her feelings, they persisted. Eventually she'd started trying to avoid them altogether, which was a lot easier with Nora than it was with Yang, considering they shared a room.
On their second Friday living at Shade Academy, also the second Friday since Ruby had confided in her sister, Yang found Ruby alone in the dorm and made what felt like her millionth plea of the week.
"For the last time," Ruby snapped, flopping down on her bed. "I don't want you to set up a date! It'll just make everything awkward."
She was trying to keep her cool, but honestly, this was starting to piss her off. This was none of Yang's business, or Nora's for that matter. She didn't need their input.
"Oh, come on, Ruby!" Yang groaned, her voice laced with exasperation. "You have to know she's into you!"
"Give me one good reason to believe she actually likes me back." Ruby retorted, rolling her eyes as Yang let out a dry laugh.
"I'll give you ten reasons," she said confidently. "You two are basically attached at the hip, she gets that little pouty face every time she gets told she can't pair with you for combat training, you literally share a bed-"
"Only because there weren't enough beds when we moved in!" Ruby quickly sat up, warmth rushing to her face.
"Yeah, but when Blake and I starting sharing, I asked Penny if she wanted my old bed and she just about cried." Yang replied. "Unless you want to sit here and argue that all of that is platonic, you know she likes you back. So why won't you just talk to her about it?"
"Look," Ruby sighed. "Even if you're right, I just don't want to give her anything else to worry about. She just lost her home, she's still getting used to being the Winter Maiden, and now she has all this human stuff to deal with. She needs my support right now, and I don't want to accidentally push her away."
Yang's expression softened at that, and she slowly crossed the room to sit down beside Ruby.
"I get that," she said quietly, suddenly much more sympathetic than frustrated. "And I know I'm being kind of pushy, but I don't want you to miss out. This could be your only chance for a while to actually go on dates and have fun with her."
Ruby let out another, heavier sigh and leaned back onto her hands, tilting her face toward the ceiling.
Yang was right. They might have a respite now, but Salem could show up any day. This chance to be students again wasn't going to last forever. They were getting to be kids one last time, and that would be over the moment Salem made herself known again. Then there would be no dates or time to worry about feelings, probably just regrets if she didn't do this now.
"What do I even say to her?" she asked quietly. "I've never liked someone like this before. What if I screw something up?"
"Just be honest with her." Yang put an arm around Ruby's shoulders and gave her a gentle squeeze. "Tell her how you feel, ask her if she wants to go out, and let Nora and I take care of the rest. We'll find a nice place for you to go, and I'll tell you everything I know about impressing girls."
She winked good-naturedly and released Ruby, who then took a deep breath and stood. She didn't feel even remotely prepared for this, but there was a decent chance it could be now or never.
"I'm gonna go see if I can find her." Ruby decided, steeling herself. She made her way toward the door, giving her sister a nervous grin over her shoulder as she left. "Wish me luck."
---------------------
Ruby found Penny an hour later in Shade's library, sitting at one of the tables with a pile of books. From the looks of it, she'd been here a while, possibly making her way through a series.
"Hey," Ruby said quietly as she reached Penny's table. "What are you reading?"
Penny glanced up, looking mildly startled.
"Oh, it's just a fantasy story," she replied sheepishly, lowering the book in her hands. "It's a bit silly, but I've never had time to just sit and read before. I'm finding it quite enjoyable!"
"That's good." Ruby smiled and took a seat across from Penny, clasping her hands anxiously in her lap. "Sorry if I'm interrupting you or anything, I just wanted to ask you something."
"Of course." Penny put her book down and leaned forward attentively.
"I was just wondering if, um..." Ruby squeezed her fingers, trying to steady her voice long enough to get the question out. "If you wanted to... go out with me sometime? Like, on a date? I-If not, it's totally cool, I just... y'know..."
Penny blinked at her slowly, and Ruby shrank back as much as the chair would allow her to.
"A date?" Penny inquired.
"Yeah," Ruby replied, her face burning. Dear God please let her know what a date is, she thought frantically. "I really like you, like more than just a friend. I've been wanting to tell you for a while, but I was scared of making you uncomfortable, but then I realized that with everything going on I might not get another chance for a while, and- Penny?"
Caught up in her rant, it had taken Ruby far to long to realize that Penny wasn't listening to her. Instead, she was just staring blankly, her expression completely unreadable.
"Are you okay?" Ruby leaned across the table and waved her hand in front of Penny's face. "Are you bluescreening?"
Back when she'd had a mechanical body, Penny had occasionally 'bluescreened' when struggling to process some new piece of information. She usually snapped out of it within a few minutes, so Ruby wasn't particularly concerned, but she had to admit she was surprised that Penny was still doing it even in a human body.
"Yes." Penny said suddenly, shaking herself a bit.
"I- what?"
"Yes, I will go on a date with you." Penny clarified, her face turning slightly pink. "I like you too, quite a lot."
"Really?" Ruby's shoulders sagged with relief, and she couldn't help the grin spreading across her face.
"Of course." Penny said with a little smile. "I would have said something much sooner if I had thought you might feel the same way."
"How could I not?" Ruby asked softly. "You're so sweet and beautiful and kind. It was kind of impossible not to fall in love with you."
Penny's blush intensified, and she looked away bashfully.
"You are all of those things too." she replied, her voice quiet and shy.
Ruby chuckled softly, then straightened herself and cleared her throat before either them could get any more flustered.
"So," she went on. "I was thinking maybe we could do dinner tomorrow around six? Or, well, Yang was thinking that, but I have no idea how to plan dates so I'm just listening to what she says."
"That sounds perfect." Penny said enthusiastically.
"Great," Ruby smiled and rose from her seat. "I'll let you get back to your reading. See you tomorrow."
Ruby turned to leave, barely hearing Penny's quiet "Goodnight," as she rushed out of the library. The moment the doors slammed shut behind her, she let out a loud, shaky laugh. She'd done it. She'd actually done it. She'd managed to land herself a date, and now all she had to do was survive it.
--------------------
Penny had to admit, she'd been surprised to hear that her best friend had a crush on her. Delighted, of course, but so very surprised. She'd been planning to keep her own feelings a secret forever, lest Ruby find them unusual or inappropriate, but that was no longer necessary. Ruby shared the same feelings, and apparently they were quite normal.
It was a relief to know that, but Penny couldn't say that all of her anxieties had been quelled. According to Ruby, the next step after confessing their feelings was going on a date together, a concept with which Penny was not particularly familiar. She had a basic idea of how it was supposed to work, but she wasn't sure of the correct way to behave or what she was supposed to say while they were out.
Penny had gone to Nora with these concerns, hoping for some friendly advice, and had been promptly and quite literally dragged into Team JNPR's dorm room for a pre-date pep talk.
"You really don't have all that much to worry about." Nora said as she worked on lacing up the back of Penny's dress. It was quite similar to one she'd worn to Beacon's dance; light green, knee-length, and very soft. She'd borrowed it from an upperclassman named Velvet, who she knew by association due to her team's friendship with Team RWBY.
"But what if I say something wrong?" Penny asked anxiously, running her fingers through her hair. She'd already brushed through it twice, but perhaps one more time couldn't hurt.
"What would you say wrong?" Nora inquired as she finished with the dress. "You two are already friends, so you don't have to deal with any of that 'getting to know each other' business. Just go and have fun. And make sure you laugh at all her jokes."
"All of them?" Penny echoed unenthusiastically. Her sense of humor was quite different from the majority of her friends, and she sometimes had trouble discerning whether something was a joke. How would she know what to laugh at?
"Unless they're offensive or something, but it's Ruby so I doubt that." Nora shrugged and grabbed a bit of Penny's hair, gently fluffing it out. "Think you're ready?"
"Maybe?" Penny replied. "Do I look presentable?"
"You're gorgeous, Pebbles." Nora turned Penny around so they were face to face, placing two firm, comforting hands on her friend's shoulders. "Everything's gonna be fine, okay? You've gone places with Ruby hundreds of times; just act how you normally would."
"Okay." Penny nodded. She could do that.
----------------
The restaurant Penny had been invited to was a small café hardly a stone's throw from Shade's campus. From what Penny could tell, it seemed to be primarily frequented by the school's students, as the majority of the people sitting in the outdoor area were wearing school uniforms.
Of the three that were not, one was Ruby, clad in a black top and bright red skirt that just barely reached her knees. She spotted Penny from her table near the café's front window and waved her over with a shy smile.
"Hey," she greeted softly as Penny approached. "You look really nice."
"As do you." Penny replied politely, sincerely hoping that the grin on her face didn't look too silly. She stood there awkwardly for a moment before taking a seat, leaning forward so their table's umbrella could better protect her fair skin from the sun.
For a good two minutes, they sat there in silence, Ruby seemingly avoiding eye contact and Penny quietly fidgeting while she tried to think of something to say.
"This place is pretty cool, right?" Ruby offered at last, glancing in Penny's direction.
"I think it's quite hot, actually." Penny replied. Ruby let out a soft chuckle, and she quickly realized her mistake. "Oh! You meant- yes, it's very cool."
Penny briefly averted her gaze as her face grew warm, but she was saved from any further embarrassment by the arrival of a tired-looking waitress.
"Have you two decided on anything?" she asked, placing two glasses of water down on the table. As she did so, she fixed Penny with the same vaguely suspicious look every Atlesian refugee had been receiving from the locals.
It wasn't entirely uncalled for, considering everything her nation had done to theirs, but it made her uncomfortable nonetheless.
"Um..." Penny glanced down at the menu, eager to get the waitress's eyes off of her. Impulsively, she ordered the first thing she saw. "The fried scorpion, please."
"I'll have the same." Ruby said immediately.
"Interesting choice." The waitress remarked as she took their menus. 'For a couple of outsiders' was implied.
Penny watched her walk away, mildly dreading the sight of what she would return with.
"What the hell did we just order?" Ruby mumbled, so softly that Penny couldn't be entirely certain the words were for her.
"It will likely be fine," she answered anyway. "Scorpion is a common dish here."
"Yeah, I guess." Ruby replied, once again avoiding eye contact. Penny's brow furrowed and she leaned a bit closer to her date over the table.
Ruby seemed remarkably uncomfortable, wringing her hands and glancing about as if searching for a way out of the situation. Did she not want to be here? Had Penny done something wrong?
If so, she hadn't the slightest clue what her mistake could have been, but relationships were so complicated that she wouldn't be surprised if she'd broken some unspoken rule. Perhaps she'd missed a joke she was supposed to laugh at, or-
"Penny?"
Penny was jolted out of her thoughts, only just realizing that Ruby was waving a hand in front of her face. She blinked hard, mildly startled.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked gently.
"Yes," Penny said with a quick nod. "Yes, I'm fine."
"You've got to stop bluescreening on me." Ruby gave her a small, kind smile. "What were you trying to figure out?"
Penny hesitated briefly. She almost didn't want to say it for fear that she might be right. Yet again, if she had somehow messed up the date, she wanted to know what she'd done wrong.
"It's just..." she began eventually. "You seem as if you don't want to be here. I was wondering if maybe I did something wrong? Or if you regret asking me out?"
"Of course not!" Ruby's eyes widened in mild alarm. "What made you think that?"
"You just seem so uncomfortable." For emphasis, Penny mimicked the hand-wringing motion Ruby had been doing. "I was worried you thought this was a mistake."
"God, no," Ruby reached across the table and gently took Penny's hands in her own. "You didn't do anything wrong, Penny. Asking you out was not a mistake."
She brushed her thumbs along the backs of Penny's hands; an intimate gesture, if Penny remembered correctly.
"I think letting someone else plan this for us might have been a mistake, though." Ruby admitted. "I don't think I'm really a dinner date person."
"What do you mean?" Penny inquired.
"I mean this all feels a little... stuffy, I guess." Ruby shrugged. "I don't like sitting here in formalwear trying to make awkward conversation with a bunch of other people around. This doesn't feel like us, y'know?"
"I think I understand." Penny nodded slowly. She had to admit, this wouldn't have been her first choice of venue either. "What do you think would feel like us?"
"Do you remember that night with the fireflies?" Ruby asked. Penny nodded again, a small smile spreading across her face. "That felt like us. It was just you and me having fun, enjoying nature and stuff."
"That was a very special night," Penny agreed fondly. "But I do not believe we would be able to recreate it here. As far as I know, no species of a firefly is native to Vacuo."
"It doesn't have to be exactly the same." Ruby seemed thoughtful for a moment, quietly drumming her fingers on the table. "What if we went up on the roof of Shade's dorms? We could be alone and just enjoy each other's company."
"I like the sound of that." Penny almost stood up, but suddenly remembered that they'd already ordered. Would it be considered rude to leave?
"It's alright," Ruby seemed to read Penny's mind as she rose from her seat. "I don't think it counts as dining and dashing if we haven't gotten our food yet."
Penny supposed that made sense. She hesitated a moment longer before standing up, glad that she wouldn't have to see that waitress again. Ruby extended her arm, and Penny linked it with her own as they began walking away from the restaurant. As soon as they'd cleared the tables, Ruby visibly relaxed.
"This already feels better," she remarked.
"It does." Penny agreed. They walked together in silence for a few minutes, Penny's face growing warm as an unfamiliar sensation spread throughout her body.
Suddenly overtaken with boldness, Penny leaned over and pressed her lips to Ruby's cheek, holding them there for a moment before slowly pulling away. Ruby's eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't seem at all bothered.
"Was that... okay?"
"It was more than okay," Ruby replied, glancing over at Penny with a smile. "That was perfect."
"It seems our night has been salvaged." Penny smiled back at her, faltering briefly as Ruby rested her head on her shoulder.
"Yeah," she said, her warm breath tickling the skin of Penny's neck. "It has."

Time And Time Again
Dream x Reader (Female)
Warnings: Swearing
Genre: FLUFF, Romance, Humor, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Basically a rundown of some of the most recent cute moments brought to you by the most adorable will-they-won’t-they couple: Y/N and Dream.
Requested by Anon. Hi dear! Thank you so much for your wonderful request, it really made my day when I received it! I hope I captured what you wanted and what you had in mind in the fic and I hope you enjoy the read! This is my first time writing for Dream so I hope I don’t mess it up hehe. Love, Vy ❤
“I don’t wanna go in the cave!“ Y/N squeals in terror when she realizes that in order to make progress in the game and continue moving onward with the story, she has to walk Blake through the dark, dingy and danger-ridden cave in Outlast 2. The gang’s all there with her on a Discord call to keep her company, knowing she’s a scaredy cat underneath that tough girl exterior. And being the scaredy cat she is while also having a preference for horror games has made Friday nights very interesting for her and her friends: her, Clay, George and Sapnap sit on a Discord server while she streams whatever horror game she had planned for the evening to her close to her thousands of viewers.
“Don’t worry, Y/N! I’ll come with you, imma hold your hand the whole time.“ Clay volunteers wholeheartedly without a second to waste.
Much to his disappointment, however, Y/N’s reply to that is: “Not until you go wash off all that cheeto dust that’s all over your fingers.“
Clay gasps dramatically, “How DARE you? I offer you help and comfort and this is the thanks I get? I hope one of those heretics in teaches you a lesson!”
While the pair are now in a full-on ‘heated’ dispute on their manners and politeness, bringing back things they did wrong as far back as three years ago, George and Sapnap are just connecting the dots silently.
“Wait, Y/N...“ George is the one to finally speak up, “How’d you know he’s eating cheetos?”
Taking a momentary break from the bickering, Y/N reassumes her more sweet tone of voice as he addresses him, “He freaking raided my cabinets and has eaten all my snacks already! He’s only been here for two hours, damn it!”
“Don’t make it sound like I inhaled a mountain of snacks in two hours! You literally had only two bags of snacks - meant for one person, mind you!“ Clay argues back, neither him nor Y/N realizing that this accidental outing will send their fandoms in a fit.
Of course, people hang out at their friends’ all the time, nothing weird there. This wouldn’t have been such a big deal to anyone if Sapnap didn’t say:
“How come Clay has the privilege of coming over to place and George and I don’t?“
Oh boy...
                                                             *  *  *
“Hi everyone! I know you guys couldn’t care less for an intro so Imma get right into it...“ Y/N says, all seemingly in one breath, “You see this masked man next to me? This tree of a man right here? Yes? Good, well judging by that poorly made cardboard mask he’s wearing - curtsey of yours truly - you probably already know who he is. If not, meet Dream, aka Clay, aka the raincloud above my parade.“
That specific laugh echoes throughout the room as the said tree-of-a-man wraps an arm around the significantly smaller girl’s shoulders, pulling her closer till their sides collide, “She loves me, trust me, she does.”
“Only when you bring me food though.“ She corrects him, wiggling his shoulders to see if she could set herself free from his grip but relaxing in his embrace when she realizes she won’t be going anywhere unless he willingly lets her go.
Clay tilts his head to the side to look at her through the holes poked into the mask before lifting his free arm to reveal the plastic bag he’s been holding all this time. “Oh, well then I wonder what I’ve got over here...”
“Oh my God, Panda Express! You’re the best, Clay.“ She squeals, grabbing him by the collar of his hoodie and pulling him down while she simultaneously pushes up on her toes to place a kiss on his cheek which is a tiny bit exposed to her between the mask and the hood he’s got over his head.
Before the man could even recover, he finds himself empty handed, having lost the girl and having lost the bag of food to the girl.
That kiss was worth it though.
                                                             *  *  *
“Ok, so I’ve seen this ‘my girlfriend does my makeup’ challenge going around and since I’m single as all hell, I got my best friend Y/N here to do my makeup.“ Clay points to Y/N who’s holding a makeup bag in one hand and is giving him a very disappointed look, “Judging by the look on her face, she’s not at all impressed but I promise to make her a bit more excited to be here in editing.“
“Of course I’m unimpressed, this is the troll video of troll videos!“ She complains, throwing her arms up, “Sure I’ll do your makeup and get a kick out of it myself but none of them will see it!“ She points to the camera, “None of them will know what amazing makeup artist skills I’ve got.“
This leaves Clay speechless for a moment, uncertain of how to reply to her statement before just deciding to say: “Well, at least you’ll be getting a kick out of it, that’s all that matters to me.”
“Aww...“ Y/N bats her eyelashes at the camera as her bottom lip forms an emotional pout, “Please don’t be so sweet to me after I just verbally kicked your ass. You always do that and make me feel like the meanest person in the world.“
“Aww Y/N, I’m so sorry.“ He says, sounding genuinely apologetic as he wraps his arms around the girl that’s tiny in comparison to him, bringing her closer to him with his tight hug.
“YOU’RE DOING IT AGAIN!“
                                                             *  *  *
“Hey Clay, I bought lunch on the way so I hope you’re-” Walking into her friend’s recording room abruptly, Y/N finds herself face to face with his webcam, the light next to which is glowing, suggesting the device is on and she’s currently on the screens of the thousands of people watching Dream’s stream. His mask is on - the one she made for him - of course, but she can still feel the aura of him smiling, relieving her of the worry that he’ll be irritated by her walking in like that - unannounced and without knocking. To be fair, they never announced to one another when they’d be stopping by and by this point in their friendship they have also stopped knocking too. “You’re streaming, huh?”
“Yup!“ The word is said in such a teasing manner she almost allows herself to blush, “What you got there tho?“
“Chipotle.“ She answers shortly, “And I’m starving so can we please turn your stream into a Mukbang?“ She furrows her brows as she inspects what’s on his computer screen, looking at a comment section instead of the usual screen of a game she’s used to seeing. “What are you doing, anyway?“
Looking back at his screen for a brief moment before turning back to her, Clay replies, “Oh, just reading mean comments, as one does to boost their self-esteem.”
The flash of anger he sees on Y/N’s face is most certainly not what he was inspecting to see. Mockery, yes. Humor, yes. Faux sympathy followed by some mean comments of her own, definitely. But he anger he did not see coming at all.
“Who’s talking shit about you? I’ll end them!“ Putting the plastic bag of delicious food aside, forgetting all about it in the process, Y/N grabs a chair and drags it over next to Clay’s so she too can look at his screen.
And that boy has never felt so much adoration for his best friend. Their fans - and especially their shippers - would’ve lost it if they had been able to see the look he was giving her.
                                                             *  *  *
(back to the ‘girlfriend/best friend does my makeup vid’)
“Ok, so what kind of look do you want me to give you?“ Y/N asks as she sits down on the stool in front of Clay, her makeup products placed on the dining table which is to her right.
“You ask me as though I know what I want.“ Clay laughs, the sticker of his mask floating above his face, following his movements as to keep his features hidden, “Just do the look you do on yourself everyday. It looks really cute on you, who knows, I might be able to pull it off too.“
“Sure thing.“ She smiles at her friend’s compliment, “Just stand still, ok?“
“Yes, ma’am.“
                                                            *  *  *
“Y/N, no! Stop!“ Clay warns her via the Discord call while the two are streaming Minecraft together alone for once, “Not another word!“
“But I really do feel bad!“ Y/N whines in response, “Why don’t you allow me to apologize?“
“Because there’s nothing to apologize for!“ He says, clearly done with the conversation, “I willingly gave you my jacket, you didn’t ask for it.“
“And now you’ve got a cold because of it!“ She continues arguing her case, “The least I can do is come over to take care of you.“
“I don’t need a pity nurse, thank you very much.“ Clay bites back, “But your company would be nice. Though I don’t want you to catch whatever cold I have.“
“I’d catch any cold for you, Clay.“ She replies teasingly - with a ton of honesty underneath that teasing.
Honesty both her and Clay are aware of. As well as the mob of people watching their streams right now.
~  ~  ~ And so the snowball effect continues with little moments sprinkled throughout their online presences that make the snowball of shipping get bigger and bigger. Every now and then, both Y/N and Clay let little bits of their true adoration and admiration for the other slip through. And time and time again do those moments send their fans in a frenzy.
Rightfully so.

Too much
[It’s a smut]
It was a normal day at Beacon. Same old classes. Same old delicious lunches. Same old Blake. Well, not entirely. The girl had a problem, a snag if you will. She was currently on her bed in her school uniform, sulking more than she usually does. She patiently waited for the door to open. As she did, The words of Weiss Schnee replayed through her brain…
xxxxx
“YOU ARE DATING J-” The heiress’s mouth was covered quickly by Blake, who looked panicked.
“Ssssshhhh! What part of secret did you not understand!?” Blake said through her teeth, “we don’t want attention.”
Weiss swatted the hand away and whispered, “Sorry, but you should know better than to reveal truths out of the blue like that by now. This is crazier than the last one to be frank.”
Blake wasn’t too thrilled in Weiss’s choice of words in regards to White Fang secret, but now wasn’t the time to bicker. Blake needed her help. “Weiss, I’d like…advice. Also a bit of help.”
“Okay? On what exactly?” The concern in her voice was palpable.
Blake’s face grew a little red. She couldn’t believe she was doing this. “Any...any ideas to get a guy to sleep with you?”
Now it was Weiss’s turn to blush. “Just who do you-” she lowered her voice in consideration, “just who do you think I am!? Why are you coming to me for this!?”
“Yang gets too involved in peoples business and Ruby is...she’s Ruby! I love the girl but this is not the topic she can handle.”
Weiss looked Blake up and down. Why the girl needed help was beyond Weiss’s comprehension. It was shocking Blake wasn’t beating admires back with a stick! “How long have you been dating Jaune?” She asked.
“About...five months now? That sounds right.”
Weiss could not believe her ears. Five months, how has no one noticed!? How didn’t she notice? Then again, she did find it a bit out of character of Jaune when he stopped all of romantic efforts. Looks like this was the reason why. It might’ve been her ego talking but it stung a little to know a guy moved to the next letter in her team’s name. Would Yang have been next if Blake, hold on. A thought just occurred.
“Did you ask him out, or did he ask you?” Weiss was very curious about this
Blake blinked. That was an unexpected question. “Me, why”
“No reason.” Well that actually made Weiss feel a bit better. Not that she cared or anything! “Why do you need help with...that? I would think he’d be all over you. Can’t you, ya know? Drop hints?” A terrible expression hit Weiss. “Please tell me that dunce is ignoring basic signs?” She groaned. It would only make sense.
Blake must’ve agreed because she laughed a little. “Hehe, No Weiss, he isn’t.” Blake rubbed her head in embarrassment, “He’s well aware I’m down for sex. With all the neck kisses and body touches, the message is clear.” Blake saw Weiss’s face scrunch up. “What?” She said defensively.
“It’s unpleasant thinking about Jaune in anything less than his armor. You know that hoodie apparently has a rabbit on it, right?”
“Grow up, and that hoodie is fine. You walk around pretending to be taller than 4’11”
“I just like these shoes, and I’m five feet even when they’re off!” She proclaimed, “What is the matter then? Does he not find you physically- actually, don’t answer that.” Weiss didn’t need to know any physical reactions from Jaune. “Just tell me what typically happens as safely as possible.”
Blake took a deep sigh before speaking. “It’s usually the same song and dance. We go on dates, have a good time, find a place to get cozy, I start making moves, he starts building a little momentum, but then he stops.” Even with the bow on, Blake’s ears were clearly drooping. “He just apologies and says he can’t!”
Weiss raised a brow, “That’s it?”
“Yeah.” Blake nodded, “that’s the long and short of it.”
The problem sounded simple, and normal. Like… too normal. Weiss knew besides herself, Blake was the smartest on their team. Although not sociable, Blake could read a room better than Yang or Ruby. “Blake…” Weiss said, befuddled, “How is Jaune on these dates? Attitude wise, like is he nervous?”
“No, not really. We just talk and have fun. In the beginning we were both a little awkward but now we talk and act like we’ve known each other for a long time.”
Now Weiss was a little jealous at Jaune this time! Five months was all it took to get Blake chatting like an old friend!? The amount of groundwork Weiss and the terror sisters had to put in for Blake to even go out into town casually with them was at least two months' work! Now she’s over here trying to sleep with the guy, a thing nobody saw coming.
“I gotta say, this whole thing feels a little wild. To think five months of secrecy lead to this conversation? If he’s as calm you say then I can’t think of many reasons to panic. I mean I get someone having a little anxiety when giving up your first time, but I hear that’s mainly on the girl’s part. You’re all calm though.” Weiss said. She wasn’t expecting Blake’s eyes to shift away slightly, as if the girl was hiding something. “You are calm, right?”
“Huh? Yeah I’m totally calm” Blake clucked her tongue, “because...it’s not my first time.” Her body swayed back and forth out, trying to finish her sentence. “I’ve been in a couple relationships before this. Some good, some abysmal.”
Yet another surprise to add to the list. “Wait, you’re not a virgin?” Weiss couldn’t believe this. Who knew Blake surpassed her in many social and mature experiences. The way she usually was, Weiss couldn’t imagine Blake being that way. The girl once spent an entire weekend reading in the dorm room. This new information though made Weiss come to realize that she previously assumed. She just had to ask one more question. “Does Jaune know that?”
“Of course.” Blake said, feeling a little insulted. “I wouldn’t lie to him or not be open enough to talk about my past.
Weiss sighed in disbelief at her faunus friend. Perhaps her assessment of Blake reading a room well was a little off. As much as Jaune had been annoying to Weiss, she felt bad for his clearly anxious soul. “Blake, I expect this kind of cluelessness from our leader.”
Blake looked rough left and to the right as if anyone else was there to explain. “Uhhh what?” She said, actually a little stumped.
Weiss put her hands together like she was dealing with an interviewer with zero experience. “Let’s put it this way. You have asked me why your boyfriend, who is most definitely a virgin, shys away from sleeping with you? A beautiful girl who’s already had experience. Ya don’t think he’s you know, incredibly nervous of not meeting pre-established expectations? You know you’re boyfriend, Jaune Arc, the same Jaune Arc that worries about everything else in his life going well?”
Blake just...sat quietly for a moment. Her brain wasn’t even having a gears turning moment. She was upset with herself that those gears weren’t spinning from the beginning. There was nothing to figure out at all! She had simply glanced over that possibility! Her hands held her head as she let out a long groan. “Uuuuugggg What is wrong with me? Of course he fucking is. I’ve been so caught up thinking I was doing something physically wrong, or I was wrong.”
A part of that sounded like baggage. Baggage Weiss wasn’t about to unpack. “Well, question solved. Unfortunately, he’s right to worry. I can’t imagine anybody giving a good first performance. Has he even seen you fully naked?”
“We’ve sent pictures, and did a bit of touching. That second one though was always in...un-private areas, so clothes stayed on.
“Did you just tell me you two are doing things in public?” Weiss criticized. At this point, the girl known as Blake Belladonna might as well be a stranger. Weiss didn’t know this person! Her Blake was not this forward. When did they have time for any of this!? Was she not actually reading in the dorm room!!? “Also, I may not have ever slept with a woman, but I’m sure seeing their assets over a screen is less stressful than in my face.
Blake uncovered her face. “Explain Yang walking out the shower naked then?”
“That’s not stress you see, that’s envy. Next time she does it I’m turning the droplets on her into ice, and stop changing the subject!”
Blake threw her arms up, “Having a secret relationship means not having access to our dorms. That actually brings us to the favor I mentioned…”
“No, I will not give you money for a hotel.” Weiss deadpanned.
Blake’s jaw fell open. “Why not!? It doesn’t have to be a suite.”
Weiss rubbed the bridge of her knows as she thinks about her bank account. “No one carries enough cash to pay for a hotel room. Theoretically I could swipe my credit card, but then the bill is now in my purchase history. I do not need to explain in any capacity why I’m staying in a hotel. A person is bound to assume what I’m doing is exactly what you want to do. Nah uh, can’t do it.” Blake put her head down. Weiss couldn’t help but feel a little bad for her. She’s clearly been putting in the effort to sleep with Jaune, for some reason. Well he was...no no, that’s a rabbit hole that could stay closed. “How long do you need with him?” Weiss asked, committed to solving this problem for the sake of already being included.
Blake’s head popped up quickly . “Two, no, three hours. Give or take an extra half hour.”
Weiss blushes, “wh..why so long?”
“Just in case…” Blake mumbled, “Anything could happen.”
“For three hours? What are you, an animal in heat?” It didn’t even take a second for Weiss to realize how fucked up that question was. She placed her hand over Blake’s mouth as her friend's eyes were getting hostile. “Sorry! That was unrelated to anything, honest!”
Blake was kind enough to believe Weiss at her word, but still petty enough to lick the girl’s hand, making her shriek.
“Eeeiiik!!! Blake!”
“Three hours please.”
Weiss sighed, “Fine. Getting Ruby and Yang to stay out of there that long is doable. They always wanna drag me around to do things that will give me ‘culture’ as they put it. How are you gonna handle Jaune?”
“I….good question.”
Yep, definitely doesn’t read the room well. “Blake, just be easy with him. Reassuring words, all that stuff. It’s his first after all.”
Blake was surprised by the advice. “Wow, that’s really sweet of you to care about him like that.”
Weiss crosses her arms and turns away. “I’m doing this for you, not him. And for me. Jaune moping is way worse than when he’s confident. Hmph!”
xxxxx
“Come on Jaune! What’s taking so long?” Blake thought, fidgeting on her bed. A click of the door lock made her jump to her feet as it opened slowly. Jaune’s head peaked into the room, confused.
“Umm hello?”He looked to the right and saw Blake. “Oh, hey. I got your text and Weiss told me to swing by the moment I could. Everything okay?” Jaune walked in completely and shut the door. Something about this felt uncharacteristically serious. Even for Blake.
She took Jaune’s hand and guided him towards her bed to sit. “Okay, how to start this?” She sighed.
“I hope it starts with you telling me this isn’t a break up?” He said, worrying that he was in trouble. “That would be nice.”
Blake rubbed his back and smiled. “Relax, this isn’t that kind of talk. It’s actually...kinda the opposite.”
“The opposite? Like...marriage?” Jaune’s eyes widened. He wasn’t expecting that kind of conversation. “Don’t you think we’re too young for all that?”
Blake’s face turned red. The fact that’s where his mind went was actually pretty sweet. “Sex Jaune. I see how you got there, but I was referring to sex.” Blake mumbled. “Can we talk about it? We keep building up to it, but then you stop.”
His face got red. “I...it’s just…ummm” he couldn’t find the words. If Yang was here then he was sure a cat having his tongue pun would’ve been said. Jaune rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed about wimping out. Speaking only got worse when Blake took it upon herself to straddle his lap. Gods, she was too beautiful. Her eyes left him defenseless. The way her hands slowly ran up his chest and over his shoulders as the smell of lavender wafted over him. “Bl-Blake?”
“I like you.” She suddenly confessed, “I like you for who you are. The things you can do, can’t do, and never have done; I’m okay with all of it. If you’re thinking I’m ranking you to any previous experience, you’re wrong. The only experience I think about with you, is us. Our experiences.” Her right hand pulls his collar away from his neck. The urge to bite her lip is overwhelming as an urge in her core starts to burn. “Let me experience you.” She whispers. Blake leans in and begins kissing his neck. Honestly, she wanted to take things slower for his sake, but all but yearned for Jaune to touch her. So much so that it was a bit dizzying.
Jaune’s body flinched as Blake’s lips grazed his neck, nipping and licking it. “Blake…” Jaune moaned. His mind was still playing catch up, but his body was right on pace. His hands traveled up the feline’s toned legs and squeezed the round ass that rested on his lap, earning him a moan. Blake moved from his neck and captured his lips. Her hands went to his jawline to keep his face close. As if he thought about escaping.
Blake openly moaned as she felt his fingers kneed her ass like dough. She caught him by surprise when she slipped her tongue into his mouth, luring his into her own. Slowly, Blake locked her body back and forth to stir him up. The low groan he let out was a good sign she had done her job. Still, they have gotten this far before. Blake was determined to get further.
Her lips finally freed Jaune. The boy was flushed completely, catching his breath in rhythm with hers. Blake took the opportunity to remove only her blazer, then brought Jaune’s left hand away from her ass and onto her breast. Her fingers overlapped his and pressed down, making him squeeze it gently. “Touch me…” the lust in her voice flowed like a river. The way she felt Jaune’s hand quiver told her that he was still pretty anxious.
Jaune found it within himself to bring both of his hands to the top button of her shirt. A small smile on Blake’s face appeared as she closed her eyes and puffed her chest out a bit more as a sign to go ahead. “Take your time.” She said. Being patient wasn’t Blake’s strongest quality, but with Weiss’s advice in mind, she did her best to contain herself. It was funny. Jaune being nervous was actually making her heart beat faster.
Cool air hit her chest as her shirt was undone, revealing a purple lace bra. Firm hands went around her back. “I can handle the bra if you’re having tr-” a little pop noise was made as her bra strap was undone faster than her shirt. “Trouble…” she finished.
Jaune let out a sheepish chuckle. “Hehe, seven sisters, remember. I’m no stranger to how bras work. They left them everywhere.
“Jaune, you’re like a bag of tricks.” Blake smiled, “I just never know what comes next with you. That being said, I have a good idea that I'll be leading from here.” Blake let her bra fall, making Jaune gasp under his breath. Blake found his reaction to her D sized chest. His face got redder by the second as Blake brought his hands to them.
Jaune refused to speak. He’d hate to ruin the mood right now. He couldn’t believe how soft Blake felt. The way his fingers pressed against her as he massaged each boob. His pointer fingers grazed over her pale, pink nipples made the girl settle more into his lap.
“Mmmm~” Blake moaned, biting her lip from the touch. Jaune took it as a sign to keep going. A wise choice. Blake once again started to buck her hips against what had to be Jaune’s rock hard erection. Even with clothes on, it’s heat reached Blake’s equally hot core. Blake’s hands got busy. She scooted back a bit for them to have enough room to unbuckle Jaune’s pants. Her fingers traced along his lower stomach before dipping below the waistband and wrapping the throbbing erection. Blake leaned forward to capture his tongue yet again as he groaned from the feeling of her nimble fingers stroking his down.
Blake managed to pull his length up and out of his pants completely. She scooted forward again and rubbed his exposed cock against her wet panties. Her clit ground against the shaft. Blake mewled lustfully from Jaune squeezing her breast harder than before. Blake felt her tongue get drawn in and sucked on lightly. Someone was getting excited. The hot precum that ran down her hands only made it easier for Blake to pump faster.
Jaune couldn’t contain his groans and grunts. His hands gripped Blake’s ass again to hold her close. His kiss with her was broken by her going to kiss and bite his neck. “Blake…”
“Sshhh” Blake whispered, “cum for me.” If it wasn’t for her underwear, Jaune’s cock would be sliding up and down her soaked folds right now. The tip pressed against her clit and sent a shiver through Blake’s body that made her grind harder against it. She could tell Jaune was at the end of his rope. His hands gripped her even tighter as Jaune’s throbbing length finally let out a thick white seed that painted Blake’s moist thighs and panties. Blake smiled seductively as she slowed down the roll of her hips, letting him ride out his pleasure and wring out whatever remained inside.
“Blake!” Jaune hissed from the pleasure. Her hands pressed against his rising chest, making him lean back until his forearms had to support his body. Blake dismounted him to stand up for a moment then raised the sides of her soiled skirt, giving Jaune a clear view of the mess he made on the girl.
“Someone’s healthy.” Blake teased, “I wasn’t expecting so much.” Blake’s face became a deep red. Imagining the thought of this load inside her made her weak in all the right ways.
The sight of his and Blake’s arousal slowly trailing down her well toned legs was enough to leave anyone speechless. It didn’t help that her black panties were damp enough to outline the entrance to what Jaune would know to be a very intense experience. And as bad as he wanted it, Jaune couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed by his performance. “Not to kill the mood or sound ungrateful, but cumming alone is a bit… ehhh” was the best way he could describe himself.
Blake playfully rolled her eyes. Boys will be boys. “Well it’s not like we’re finished yet. Besides I literally told you cum. Rest assured I’ll get my moment a bliss before the end of this. Just have a bit of confidence. We’re still foreplaying.”
“I’m not an expert on this but is foreplay always this intense? I don’t think I’ve ever came that hard.” He admitted.
“It varies. Honestly...” Blake looked down at Jaune’s semi-flaccid dick. She slowly walked closer to the bed. Her hand tugged on Jaune’s slacks, prompting him to scoot down a bit more until Blake felt he was close enough. The young woman pulled a bit harder to pull his pants down and of the way of getting ruined. All why never taking her eyes off of him or is cum covered length. “....I like watching how good I make you feel.” She purred, getting excited again.
Jaune has no response to such a confession. Nor could he say anything as she bent over to grab his dick. Just her touching it was enough to make him grow. To get points even further across, Blake’s golden eyes looked right into his eyes as she made him tremble from placing her tongue at the base and lick up; agonizingly slow and deliberate too.
Blake took her time swirling around Jaune to collect the remnants of his load before taking him into her mouth for real. Jaune’s body tensed immediately and hand instinctively went to her head to brace himself as she bobbed up and down. His fingers wrapped around strains of hair, tugging them. Blake purred again with him down her throat and began watching him squirm.
“Blake!” He gasped. The girl only sped. Each time she went lower and lower while her tongue stroked the underside of his shaft. Before Jaune knew it, he was fully erect again and felt like he could cum again if she continued. “Blake! T-Timeout!” He yelled.
Blake gladly stopped. She had proved her point, gotten him hard again, and was pleasantly surprised to learn Jaune wasn’t that bitter in the slightest. Maybe it was his natural scent or something but Blake could see herself getting a bit too into sucking him off. That taste lingered on her and made her body burn up. “Need a break?”
“Not really.” He fibbed, knowing full well a girl who just went down him could probably tell just how into that experience he was. “I just… If I’m coming twice, I’d rather you get some action too.”
“Oh, okay.” Blake’s heart fluttered a bit. He really wanted her to feel good with him. “Then, let’s skip to the fun part.” Blake removed her panties that really should’ve removed earlier, along with the skirt.
Jaune marveled at his beautiful girlfriend who stood before him. Yeah they had sent pictures and sure she’s been topless for several minutes now, but it felt different once everything came off. Her long, beautiful legs went on each side of him, letting him have a full view of a wanting velvet core that hovered above his cock. A thin line of Blake’s arousal made both of teens blush as it dripped onto him. Jaune took his right thumb and pressed against her entrance, rubbing it slowly and watching how it coated his thumb.
“Mmmm~” Blake let out a breath that shook with excitement. Her chest began to rise and fall more distinctly and her back arched ever so slightly as she closed her eyes. “Please don’t fucking team me too long.” She moaned, nudging her hips to gain more friction.
Jaune was mesmerized by the way she acted. He sunk his thumb into her just to watch her crane her neck up and moan again. If he wasn’t excited before, he was now. “You’re so fucking wet…” pushing further in to feel her walls tighten. He kept a slow rhythm when pulling out, just to push right back in.
Blake bit her lip. Her hands ran up his shirt to expose his chest. She had to remember to thank
Pyrrha for putting Jaune through such rigorous training. He was well on his way to being the huntsman he so dearly dreamed of. It was funny but the more Blake thought it about, the more she realized what made her so drawn to him. Even when Jaune lacked experience, he set his sights high. Sure they could be a little too high at times, but you know what? There was something great about that. “I thought I told you not to tease me? I want you to give it to me.” Blake purred. She mustered the resolve to pry Jaune’s hand from her body and took hold of something much bigger and lively. “Ready for a ride? Just relax and let me lead okay?”
Jaune nodded. He watched Blake lower herself without a second thought. His hips instinctively bucked up as he felt the indescribable pleasure of wet, heated walls pulled him in tightly, refusing to let go. Jaune closed his eyes and gripped her waist.
“Feeling good?” Blake shuddered. The feeling of Jaune rubbing her insides so deep made her want to move immediately. Blake put her hands against Jaune’s chest and began rocking her hips. The grip Jaune had on her tightened. A low groan strained from his throat. Blake leaned forward until her breast pressed against him. “It gets better.” Her knees started feeling weak as raised her hips, having Jaune’s dick slid out until the tip remained. Blake then dropped her hips down, slamming his cock back inside of her. Again and again she did that, picking up the speed each time until the sound of her ass smacking against his lap filled the room and rocked the bed. Blake’s body was on autopilot. The feeling of her womb being invaded and walls being grazed, shocked Blake each time Jaune’s dick spearheaded inside of her wanting pussy. “Oh fuck yes…” Blake gasped, licking and biting Jaune’s neck.
The boy was going through it right now. Never had Jaune felt this kind of heat. No amount of foreplay could prepare anybody for this. Each slight movement felt like a jolt of lightning. His mind and body were conflicted. On one hand, Jaune wanted to hold out as long as possible. Yet his hips had other plans. Jaune couldn’t stop himself from timing his movements with Blake’s, thrusting deep into her for even greater pleasure
Blake had no problem with this whatsoever. “Ahhh~ just like that!” Blake encouraged, “You’re so deep...mmmm” the heat between them only grew. Their bodies worked up a sweat and Blake found herself panting more than moaning. Letting Jaune cum once was a good idea. Not only for him to last longer for this moment, but even Blake wasn’t confident her experience would give her an edge against his stamina. High sex drive or not, Blake knew herself well. Satisfying her needs wasn’t as trying as Jaune might think. Especially when she’s topping.
Blake sat up and leaned back a bit. She braced her hands behind her back and began rocking back and forth with Jaune completely inside of her.
Jaune couldn’t take his eyes off of Blake’s body as it grinded on him. The woman’s eyes were shut tight as she focused on the pleasure, while her boobs bounced from each rock. “You’re so beautiful.” He said without thinking. The compliment was heard though, since Blake immediately started going even faster. Jaune let out another groan. He wanted her so bad. Sitting still just wasn’t his style.
Blake’s concentration was broken when she felt strong arms around her lower back. She opened her eyes to see the blonde knight sit up as well. “Jaune?” She said confused. Instead of answering her. Jaune gave her a chaste but strong kiss before his mouth went suck on one of her tits. “Jaune!” She moaned, gripped his hair. Blake arched her back as she felt him lick and suck it, while groping the other one. The assault on her body only intensified when his remaining free hand fell to her ass to squeeze it while she continued to fuck herself on his dick until her mind felt foggy. “This is...too much!” Her hand clung to him. “And you were worried!?” She asked knowing he couldn’t speak right now.
Jaune might’ve been happy by the question if he wasn’t too busy fighting off his fast approaching orgasm. It was crazy Blake was the one saying he was doing too much. Her scent, the way her body pressed against his, the sounds that escaped her beautiful lips, and the way she moved her hips. As if she was trying to milk everything out of him all at once. Every part of her wax too much yet Jaune could only want more, surrendering to the embrace of her soaked walls. Jaune gasped for air. “Blake, I….I can’t...”
Words were beyond him. All he could do was buck in between Blake’s legs.
A seductive smile grew on her face as she went faster. “That’s right, fuck me just like this….and cum. Blake leaned into his, “Hard…”
A slave to her voice, Jaune obeyed Blake’s words without fail. He could only manage several more intoxicating moments before the urge to cum was too strong to deny. Jaune held her close and kept her there; shooting ropes white inside her.
Blake felt Jaune bite down on her shoulder as he filled her deep. All the rough touches and spasms was more than enough to push her over the edge. “Shit…” she said with a shrill voice. Her arms and legs wrapped tightly around his body and Blake buried her face in the crook of neck. Blake tried resisting but her nails dug into his back as her orgasm finally hit. Every muscle in her body tensed up. Her toes curled and she could feel Jaune throbbing inside her as her body tried taking everything the boy had to give.
Neither could speak. They could only cling to each other for what felt like forever before the waves of pleasures finally subsided. Blake was the first to loosen her grip. The girl's limbs released tension and she had zero desire to move an inch. It was only when Jaune went to tilt her head up by her chin that the two looked at each other with a mix of gratification and exhaustion. Blake positioned his hand for her head to rest in, purring at the feel of his touch.
Jaune let out at chuckle. He fell backwards onto the bed with Blake following him down. The girl laid on top of him and continued purring.
“Yeah I don’t see what you were worried about.” She said, teasingly.
“Hey, when Blake Belladonna says she wants to have her way with you, panic sets in. So, good time?”
Blake flicked his forward. “You have me laying on top of you naked and purring.”
“Yeah, fair point. Phew, well that’s good. I like making you happy.”
Blake blushed as she felt his arms hold her gently. “Hmm well looks like you’ve given me a new experience after all.”
“What, cuddling after sex?”
“Mmmhmmm.” Blake hummed, “No time to cuddle when you’re you know, working in a cult. Luxuries like that don’t exist.”
Jaune smirked, “Gee, I never would’ve guessed.” Blake pinched him for that sarcastic remark. Not that it actually did anything. “Well I’m happy to be your first post sex cuddle experience. Though it’s a little risky isn’t it?”
“We have like three hours before anyone shows up. It’s fine.”
“Not exactly the issue I had in mind but good to know.”
Blake’s eyelids felt heavy. That was until the feeling of Jaune’s hands on her butt shocked her away. The feeling of him swelling inside her again made her shudder. Stamina was dangerous. “Please, fifteen minutes. We have like three hours.” She groaned. “Then I’ll have you screaming all over again.”
“Fine by me, but this time I’m getting you off at least twice. Two to one just isn’t fair. I want you just as pleased as me.”
Looking back on things, Blake mentally retracted her statement about boys and their pride. Maybe it wasn’t so bad after all. “I’ll hold you to that.” Blake closed her eyes and got some rest.
xxxx
“We’re back!” Yang shouted as she walked in with her two teammates. She looked over to see Blake chillin on her bed reading in her sleeping clothes. “Gee if it wasn't for your clothes then I would’ve believed you actually sat there and read the entire time. I’m surprised you haven’t finished all of your books.”
“I’m a slow reader.” Blake blatantly lied. “I did finish a couple of times, books I mean.” Her eyes looked up from the pages to see Weiss staring at her in voiceless disbelief. She wiggled her eyebrows, making Weiss turn red.
The heiress turned around and walked out the room.
“Weiss, where are you going?” Ruby asked.
The Schnee sighed and kept walking. “A place that makes sense.”
Ruby didn’t know what that meant she looked at Yang who shrugged, then to Blake who masterfully controlled her laughter. “Huh, I guess Blake reading slowly through her for a loop?”
It was impossible for Blake not to place her book over her face and smile behind it. “Never change Ruby.” She muttered, “Never change.”

Option Three
Jaune looks at his scroll.
‘Ruby- Come to my room, I got something to ask you. I got donuts.’
Then knocks at Team RWBYs dorm.
Ruby: Come in!
Jaune walks into the dorm, it was the same his and the rest of team APLN.
Jaune see’s Ruby and Blake are sitting at a table staring darkly at each other..
There is no chair for Jaune though so he stand in front of the table.
Ruby makes a pyramid out of her hands.
Ruby: So glad you could join us today.
Blake: Quite glad.
Jaune looks at them.
Jaune: Ok, what’s up? Where’s Weiss and Yang?
Jaune to himself: The letter told me there would be donuts, should I bring up before or after we’re done. I don’t see any donuts in here though.
Blake and Ruby look at each other seriously.
Ruby shrugs and breaks eye contact from Jaune: Um, they’re around.
Blake nods: They’re here, just not in plain sight. We were wondering if you could help decide the answer to a question we have.
Ruby: A very important question.
They both look at Jaune dead in the eyes.
Ruby/Blake: Whose harem are you going to join?
Jaune stunned: Um, what?
Blake sighs and Ruby shakes her head.
Ruby: Buddy, I knew you were dense, but this is a whole new level!
Blake: Jaune, please be serious right now, this matter will shape the future of the world!
Jaune confused: What? I don’t get it, when did you two have harems, and furthermore, why would I want to join?
Ruby starts laughing: From the very beginning my dear boy! From the very beginning!
Jaune scrunches his face in confusion.
Blake: I admit it, I started out small, It began when Ilia realized she liked carpet and Adam suddenly wanted to pound tuna. But, then it really started to grow when I got to Beacon and met Yang and Sun. They both quickly swore to my Booty. Unfortunately, we pegged Adam too hard and he is intensive booty reconstruction hospital. So, I’m currently down a member and need a new one.
Blake said to Jaune smugly, looking at him like a piece of meat.
Jaune looks at her in confusion: I don’t even know who any of them are, besides Sun. What is that supposed to mean to me?
Blake chuckles: Oh, don’t you worry you’re adorable himbo skull, just listen I already have two blondes and brunette, so what do you say Jaune want to be my third?
Ruby interjects: Not so fast sister!
Blake: You’re sister in supporting my booty.
Blake said glancing down to beneath her.
Jaune looks over the table and see Blake using Yang as a chair... And Ruby using Weiss as one too. Weiss and Yang are red-faced but clearly enjoying themselves.
Jaune sighs and looks at Ruby tiredly.
Jaune: Alright, what do you have to say.
Ruby looks at him cheerfully.
Ruby: I’m glad you asked, bestie soon to be my restie. I was at one time just a modesty young woman with even modestier dreams. Then I met Weiss, who I quickly showed who should be leader, then Penny, who I gave friendship and a heart too, and then Oscar, who I peg to show dominance over. I never thought I’d be in my position today, but here I am. So what do say Jaune? To be honest I’ve always considered you to be an unofficial member of my harem, why not make it official?
Jaune squints his eyes at Ruby and Blake.
Jaune to himself again: What’s their game? I’m starting to think they’re won’t be any donuts.
???: NOT SO FAST! THAT FUCKBOI HASN’T ANSWERED YET!
Robyn Hill and the Happy Huntress emerge from the ventilation shaft.
Fiona falls out all fours and Robyn takes a seat at the table with May and Joanna flanking her.
Robyn: So you two, sneaky bitches though you could pull a power-move? Just because you two nearly have four doesn’t mean you can poach the local fuck boi population!
Robyn yells and slams down her hands on the table.
Blake and Ruby look at each other, then nod snapping their fingers as Sun and Ilia jump through a window and flank Blake, while Penny breaking through the roof with Oscar in her arms.
Blake narrows her eyes: Robyn Hill, so you were spying on us!
Robyn growls: For good reason you traitorous bitches! I thought you were a harem lord like me! But, you two are merely power hungry, Harem Conquers!
Ruby waves a finger at Robyn: Like you’re any different, why else would you be here. Rather than calling the Harem Leader’s Conclave in order to stop us, admitted it, you hypocrite! You’re just here for that piece of man, like the rest of us!
Ruby points at Jaune whose talking with Sun and eating donuts.
Jaune eating a banana cream donut: I have no idea what going on. I just came for some breakfast.
Sun: Me neither, but Blake put this collar on my tail and say I’m her property, so I was like ‘Ok, I guess I’m your’s now.’ It’s alright, I like Blake, but I miss my team though, But Blake says If everything goes according to Keikaiku-cake, what ever that is, she says my team will be her property too and they can stay with us. Oh, and I dig the new do by the way.
Jaune blushes: Thanks, I haven’t gotten too many opinions on it and I was feeling nervous about, I thought Nora was just being nice.
Robyn slams here hands on her table: So what, if I am?! Maybe I’m just here to protect the local himbo and keep him in his natural habitat!
Blake looks at Robyn scornfully: And where might his natural habitat be, inbetween you’re legs!? Or bending you in half!? Be honest to us Robyn, you’re just here to get the fourth to your harem in order to take our own, jealous we have been close time before, and are this close to greatness!
Robyn: You put your would be fourth into intensive booty care, and Oscar doesn’t count as two, it’d be weird if Ozpin stared popping out.
Ruby filing her nails: That’s why I peg him to assert by dominance over him, and in case Ozpin tries to get fresh with me.
Robyn: Regardless, I point your argumant back you Blake and Ruby, you’re trying to attain a Fourth Member in order to assert dominance over the other harems and absorb them into your own! That is why you’re making a power grab over the himbo!
Blake and Ruby say nothing.
Robyn: Your silence is telling.
Ruby and Blake both start to slow clap.
Ruby: Well, well, well, you figured it out. The one with the largest harem has the most power.
Blake: Our schemes are known to her now.
Robyn: What you’re doing would be going against the charter, you cannot forcefully make a himbo enter your harem, he must come on his own will! And you cannot have more than three, it would upset the natural balance. Only if the himbo choose you naturally, can you become a Harem Over-Lord! You twos attempts to become artificial Harem Over-Lords will be recorded and marked against you at the next Harem Leader’s Conclave.
Blake and Ruby look down mournfully.
Blake: Was it so much to ask to see Jaune and Sun get it on while Ilia is between my legs and I play with Yang’s tits?
Ruby: I just wanted my besties all in one place, seeing Jaune rail Oscar into the ground while Penny vibrates her hands inbetween Weiss and I!
Robyn: Your selfishness would have been your undoing, come let the Himbo go.
Jaune walks up eating a donut, Sun hanging off his back like a monkey.
Jaune: Still have no Idea whats going on, where are my donuts? I want more.
Robyn in her nicest voice: Don’t you see you poor Himbo, they were just trying to manipulate you into their harems to achieve ultimate power.
Jaune raises an eyebrow: Why would I want to join one, when I already have my own?
The three harem lord look at him stunned.
Ruby: Bullshit! I’ve never seen you at the meetings!
Blake: You aren’t even registered!
Robyn: You think just because you’re the local fuck boy, it makes you have a harem? Ha, what a joke!
Jaune rolls his eyes and whistles sharply.
Nora and Ren appear behind him, followed by Marrow, Cinder, Willow, Kali, Raven, then the thristy moms, and then finally Pyrrha in a new android body.
Jaune: I don’t need a piece of paper to tell me I have game. You have a week to submit to your new Overlord.
With that Jaune left followed by his harem, leaving the stunned lords in his wake.
Blake: He took Sun with him.
Ruby: He took Oscar with him.
Fiona raising up from the ground: He took Robyn!
AN: Don’t ask me, I don’t know either, the original idea was deciding who geets to be the main character by who had the biggest harem, so they decided to recruit Jaune only for him to play the reverse Uno card.

Alright, time for the post that no one asked for! Which ship had more development between Bmblby and Blacksun!
Gonna preface a few things first: I dont particularly ship either ship, so I'm going to do this with as little bias as possible.
This is only over the first 3 volumes, so anything after the fall of Beacon isnt taken into consideration right now.
And the rules are as follows:
First, winking will not be considered. Since people keep saying a wink isnt inherently confirming of a relationship, I'll ignore any winks and judge the scenes based on the content.
Second, scenes will be judged by whether or not you could replace any character and still get the same effect. (the more you can replace, the better in my opinion)
And lastly, since I keep seeing this coming up as well, the only evidence I will consider for absolute confirmation is of any sort of kiss in the first 3 volumes. Although, its going to feel a bit rushed and out of nowhere since the first 3 volumes takes place over 4-6 months at best.
Without further ado... everything will be under the cut.
Starting with Vol 1, after re-watching, there really wasn't any build up to either ship. Which, doesnt surprise me considering that Sun doesnt show up until the end of Vol 1 and the entirety of that volume is centered around introducing the characters, the world in which they live, and just general ideas on what it's like being a huntsman academy. But there are still a few scenes to note in vol 1:
Initiation: Its a quick blur, but you can see Blake rush across the screen once we see Yang walking through the forest. At that point, its safe to assume that Blake had already made her choice on who she wanted, which is further implemented with Blake helping Yang out with an Ursa.
Tumblr media
Its safe to assume that between talking with Ruby the night before and seeing hearing how what she thought of Yang didn't quite match her thoughts.
Our next scene comes to Sun and his infamous "slow-mo wink introduction." As per the rules, I'm ignoring the wink and going straight off the content of the scene itself. Which, doesnt leave much. We know he pinpoints Blake as a faunus very quickly and he has some sort of infatuation with her, but the scene alone doesnt give us much.
However, that one does lead into the end of the Vol: Blake runs off from her friends and takes her bow off to finally show us her ears. At which point, Sun comments that he knew she'd look better without it. So that already shows that 1) Sun definitely pinpointed Blake being a faunus early on, and 2) he wanted to talk to her and this provided the right opportunity. Or... so he thought. Especially since the next scene opens up with him half complaining that they've spent 2 days together and all she's done is make small talk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is all pretty on par for Blake. She then spends the next bit talking about her past, how she was pretty much born into the White Fang, stayed with it after it went from peaceful protests to more anger filled, until leaving Adam just a few months ago. After all of this, Sun asks if she's told her friends, to which we can assume she answers no to, you know, since she ran. Overall, it ends up leading Sun into going a bit gung-ho about helping Blake with the White fang.
Overall, Vol 1 did well to start putting together dynamics between Blake and her friends. Sun and Yang both make different impressions on Blake, both of which she ends up seeing as friends... for now.
Vol 2, is a bit of a strange one. Our first introduction to Beacon is Sun basically telling Neptune how cool team RWBY is, emphasizing a bit on Blake. Which does end up bringing us to the meat of the first half of vol 2: Blake worrying over the White Fang. Now, because of this, we dont see any build up between Blake and Sun or Blake and Yang while they go around town to figure out what the White Fang and Torchwick are up to. Sun makes a good point that Blake shouldnt go to the rally alone, and the two pair off while Yang goes to the club with Neptune.
Once the dance arc comes along, that's where things take an interesting turn. Sun immediately asks a sleep deprived Blake to the dance, in probably the most awkward way since he's trying to say the dance is lame, but would be less lame if the two of them went together.
Tumblr media
Sun definitely cares about Blake and actively tried to help her calm down a bit. Which, ultimately, she never says no, just that she doesnt have time for a dance. So, I give this one a +1 in points for build up.
Then, we get to the burning the candle speech. Which, a lot of people seem to write off as either pointless or not build up. Personally, it gets a +1 in points on build up for me on this. First, Yang is absolutely worried about her partner, seeing her go down the same path she did when she was much younger. She immediately starts by telling Blake that she doesnt want her to stop, just to slow down and take a breather. And she ultimately makes a strong point: slowing down isnt a luxury, its a necessity.
Tumblr media
This also end s up being the first time we see Yang open up and drop the party girl demeanor that she's had. She talks about her mother, someone that she doesnt talk to many people about, and just how much it hurt her to find out that Raven left shortly after she was born.
After an emotionally charged discussion, we finally see the point that Yang had been trying to get Blake to see:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it finally does work. Blake slows down, takes a rest, and ultimately enjoys herself at the dance. Which, in her own words, she technically goes with Sun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, the dance arc in general gives great build up to both ships. Which ultimately is the end for the Black Sun build up.
Bmblby doesnt get much more build up in vol 2, the only other notable scene being the campfire where Yang, Blake, and Weiss start opening up a bit more to each other to figure out why each of them are becoming huntresses. Which absolutely gives a bit more foundation to the friendships they have.
Vol 3 ends up having most of the build up between Blake and Yang. The first major scene being after Yang was disqualified for breaking Mercury's leg. When Yang finally asked her team if they trust her, Blake is the only one who doesnt immediately say yes, instead, saying she wants to. Leading us to this face from Yang:
Tumblr media
(yes, I know, captions are a bit off, deal with it.)
But Yang ends up being distressed by her own partner saying that she wants to trust, but doesnt yet. Blake ultimately ends up opening up about Adam, telling us how she used to trust him... until accidents started piling up. Eventually, she looks at Yang and asks her to look her in the eye and tell her she didnt do anything wrong. When Yang does, Blake allows herself to trust Yang.
Which then brings us to the biggest piece of buildup between the two: Adam. When Adam shows up, he starts using words like "my darling", hammering in that at one point, the two had something going on. He decides immediately he wants to hurt Blake just like she hurt him by leaving. But what really hammers in Blake's feelings for Yang, is the fear she had on her face when she heard Yang's voice not so far away... and right where Adam can hear her. It doesnt take long for Adam to look down at Blake, notice the fear, and then look in the direction of Yang, ultimately stating that he'll destroy everything Blake loves, starting with her.
Now, I know a lot of people will dismiss that as "it could've been anyone. If Sun had shown up, it would've been the same." And honestly, yes, it would've. This moment here is what solidifies who Blake ultimately cares about. Had it been Sun to come around, no doubt she'd show the same fear. But it wasnt him. Instead, it was Yang, who immediately found Weiss and asked where Blake had gone. And we further see her feelings for Yang cemented by the way she blames herself that Yang got hurt. The way she stays close, gently reaches for Yang's hand, the emotion of the entire scene after they get to safety.
Sun does ultimately care about Blake, and helps out where he can, but at least in vol 3, he had his own priorities of making sure everyone could make it to safety.
TL;DR: Both ships had a bit of build up in vol 2 and 3, although, the build up that Bmblby had outweighs the buildup that Blacksun has. Blake definitely had feelings for both, but ultimately, it took until Adam was a threat for her to realize the feelings that she had for Yang, and even then, she still wasnt entirely sure what they were until later in the series. At this point, the only reason anyone can say that Bmblby has little build up is due to either a higher bar for f/f ships (because, lets face it, everyone takes the wink from vol 1 as absolute confirmation for blacksun because its m/f) or they continue to deny that sometimes, there are multiple ways to show buildup between two people for a relationship and the slowburn route usually takes an emotional route over a physical route. And look, Blake has two hands. Take that as you will.

Nora Valkyrie, Identity, and Purpose
Hey everyone, Blaire here, and almost exactly a year ago, I made this mess of a post where I laid out all of my thoughts on Nora and what I thought the show could have in store for her.
And honestly, most of my ideas were way off, and not at all correct. Also, the post kind of flopped.
Thankfully, Volume 8 has given me a chance to redeem myself, and write another, more coherent, essay about my favourite RWBY character; where this Volume seems to be taking her character, and what it means to me, personally.
Buckle up.
Tumblr media
To the vast majority of people in the RWBY fandom, Nora is the least-developed character, and the one most lacking in dimension. Most of her character seems to be defined by two things; her energy and love for fighting, and her relationship on Ren.
Volume 8 took note of these conceptions, and addressed them head-on.
Of course, any keen-eyed viewer will have noted Nora’s hidden depths even before this volume, which I noticed in last year’s post. She is perhaps the most perceptive of the main cast, at least, when it comes to people’s feelings and relaionships. She was the only one to really comment on Pyrrha’s crush on jaune, and the first to bring up Blake and Yang’s growing relationship. It was also her level-headedness that resolved RNJR’s argument in Volume 4, Chapter 9.
Volume 7 also showed us her innate desire to protect the weak, and her disdain to those who have the power to help, but refuse. I personally get the feeling that this was her driving motivation in becoming a Huntress; to protect people who cannot protect themselves, perhaps because she doesn’t want anyone to have to grow up as she did. Nora’s fury at Ironwood in V7C7 is esepcially signifigant, because it’s the angriest we’ve ever seen her before, even more so in that this anger is directed at someone with much more authority than her.
Tumblr media
But these little details were only the tip of the iceberg. These were traits she already had, and while they help to add layers to her character, they’ve done very little in terms of her actual development.
This is where Volume 8 came in stronger than any other.
Volume 7 hinted to us that Ren and Nora’s relationship was beginning to get more complicated, between their bickering, Ren’s dismissiveness at Nora, and their kiss in V7C6. By the end of the volume, it was clear that they were still struggling, despite their clear love for each other. Volume 8 carried this thread along, having them split into different parties, and Nora giving Ren a bit of attitude we’ve not really seen her direct at him before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s frustrated with him, and disappointed that he can’t see what she sees. But despite her tough front, V8C2 then hints that she’s sadder about the split than she’s letting on, after May brings up Nora’s ‘friends’. C3 then brings this to a head, where we get a conversation that sees Nora opening up to Blake and Yang, and revealing a deeply sad truth about herself- that she has no idea who she is without Ren, because she’s spent so much of her life with him and him alone, and her feelings for him have shaped so much of who she thinks she is. We’ve never seen her so hopeless and lost, especially after she reveals that, as far as she’s concerned, all she’s good for is hitting stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right in these few minutes, the show takes how the audience percieves Nora, and reveals to us that those two core traits are the gateways to a far deeper insight of her character. She’s known for her relationship with Ren, but wait- what about when he’s not there with her? She’s known for hitting stuff, but wait- that’s all she thinks she’s good for.
It’s revealed to us that, not only is this how most of the audience percievs Nora, but it’s how she percieves herself. And for all her energy and upbeat attitude, deep down, she thinks incredibely lowly of herself. For all her confidence in her fighting abilities, she lacks confidence in herself as a person.
Surprisingly enough, the ‘who am I?’ character arc is one that was hardly explored at all up until this point, despite it being one of the most common and signifgant character arcs in fictional media. And I don’t think many of us at all could have imagined that Nora would be the one to get that arc, when she’s always seemed so self-assured on the surface.
And then, when Penny is in need of help, Nora takes Weiss’ advice to heart, and does the one thing she believes she’s capable of- being strong, and hitting stuff.
Tumblr media
Nora overcharging her Semblance to take down the wall is seen by a lot of the fandom as some kind of win for Nora; as her ‘big moment’. But while it’s certainly a really cool and badass scene, it was far from a triumph for her.
This was Nora at perhaps her lowest point so far in the series. This was Nora figuring ‘well, if this is all I’m good for, I’ll do it to the extreme’. This was Nora thinking her only purpose was to greatly endanger herself for the sake of others, because she figured she was the only one who could. And she almsot got herself killed for it.
While certainly a defining moment, it was far from triumphant. It wasn’t a win. It was a self-destrcutive act that reflected how little she thinks of herself; that she’s not worth anything unless she’s pushing herself to the limit doing the one thing she thinks she’s good at.
And to drive the knife in harder, it backfires horribly.
Because now she’s bedridden and critically injured, with scars that are probably permanent; a reminder of her lowest point, forever marked on her body. She can’t fight now, can’t help at all, and Salem has launched her attack on Atlas.
And in her half-unconsious state in V8C7, she realizes this, delivering an absolutely heartbreaking line:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as she’s concerned, her last attempt at doing what she thinks only she can do- what she thinks is all she can do- has prevented her from doing anything of worth at all. She lost one half of herself when she split from Ren, and now she’s lost the other half too. The two things that she defines herself by are gone. And the worst part is, we don’t know if she’s awar of the fact Salem has begun her attack. We could very well see her fully wake up, only to realize that the world has begun ending while she was unconsious, and she can’t do anything about it.
Now, this scene, and Nora’s struggle in this Volume as a whole, hit home for me in particular.
If you follow me on Twitter, you’re probably aware that Nora is only of my hightest- and only- kins. And I’ve only been able to relate to her more and more after what we’ve got of her in this Volume.
I am chronically disabled. I have a connective tissue disorder known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which fucks up my body in a multitude of different ways, but signifigantly affects the joints. For me, it hits worst in my back, ankles, and my fingers. The fingers are my main problem. To make matters worse, I’ve also been victim to intense pains in my shoulder, which came out of nowhere a couple of months ago and have only gotten worse since. The slightest movement aggrevates it. As any follower of mine would know, I am both an artist and a writer. I create both for fun, and I’ve studied writing as a profession. It is these things I’m known for being good at, and not much else.
Thanks to my disability and my shoulder though, I have to do these things less. Even on perscription pain medication, it still hurts. It hurts to write this even now; my shoulder feels like it’s burning up from the inside. It will only get worse over time.
So, I’m finding myself in Nora’s position. I can’t do what I’m good at anymore, and I don’t know what to do with myself as a result. Not doing these things makes me feel lazy and unproductive, and makes me feel that the people around me will abandon me so long as i can’t keep providing them content. And I’ve gotta say, it hurts a lot, and I don’t just mean physically.
Because of what I’m going through, it’s especially important to see my favourite RWBY character just so happening to be dealing with the same problem; the same loss of idenity and purpose. We don’t know who we are or what we’re good for without the things we think define us.
While I’m unsure of my own future though, I find comfort in knowing that Nora’s problem will be tackled and addressed; that her friends will help her to rediscover herself and find her true worth. And while we’ve got a while to go until we’ll be able to see the Volume continue, I’m incredibely excited to see where Nora’s arc goes, especially if we can get some backstory along the way. I find myself wondering if her life before Ren is part of why she thinks so little of herself without him- was it the way she was raised to think? Is this the fault of her childood circumstances? Or is this just something she developed on her own, after becoming too dependant on Ren for comfort?
Whatever answers we get, I have faith that Nora’s story will be told well, and I’m very sure that it’s only just beginning. Even if she finds her worth before the end of the volume, her story won’t be over yet, not when we’ve still likely got at least four more volumes to go after this one.
In just seven episodes, Nora Valkyrie has gone from one of the least developed characters, to one of the most interesting and relatable, at least, in my eyes. There is so much more depth to her character than having a crush on Ren, and being the strong girl who hits stuff. There’s a layer of tragedy to her character that we’re touching upon now, and I’m excited to dive into it.
Thank you all for reading!
