“she’s glaring,” joão points out solemnly, body sprawled over the couch in a relaxed manner, and with you by his side.

nemo, your orange cat, fixates her gaze upon joão’s dog, floki, emanating an aura of palpable hostility. her eyes, brimming with an intensity that signals imminent peril.

your lips subtly take the form of a slender line, discerning the overt animosity that permeates nemo’s eyes. positioned a mere few inches away from floki, she assumes a defensive stance, her demeanor reflecting a mix of caution and hostility, as evidenced by her elevated tail.

“she’s just checking to make sure he’s not dangerous,” you confidently assert, although a hint of hesitation lingers in your words. deep down, you can only hope that nemo won’t unexpectedly lash out.

she’s quite the menace.

“nah, can’t you see those eyes? she obviously wants to annihilate floki,” joão proclaims, his voice dripping with solemnity, despite the situation not being so grave.

however, both of you are resolute in your determination to make your pets get along. after all, you hoped that one day you would move in together, and it would be challenging to handle if nemo and floki despised each other.

“annihilate? you’re exaggerating now,” you roll my eyes. “she’s just a cat, not a murderer,” you add, playfully ruffling joão’s hair.

joão gazes into your eyes with a serious expression. “she could be with those eyes,” he retorts, removing your hand from his hair. “and stop messing with my hair,” he adds, slightly annoyed.

as your banter and minor disagreement persist, nemo takes a few more cautious steps towards floki, who lies on his dog bed, brimming with trepidation.

“even your dog is scared of her, both you are such cowards.” you deadpan, voice laced with a thick layer of sarcasm, as you cast a scornful gaze upon your boyfriend.

“mind you, your menace of a cat almost clawed my eye out the first i’d met her,” he asserts, his words evoking an unsettling memory that causes a shiver to ripple down your spine.

“she may not have taken an immediate liking to you, yeah. but, she’s very fond of you now,” you assert, feeling a surge of defensiveness rise within you in support of your beloved nemo.

joão falls silent, his gaze fixed upon the two pets, his eyes widening in astonishment. you tear my eyes away from joão, directing my attention towards nemo and floki.

a heartwarming sight greets you as you witness the two furry pets snuggled together, their bond evident in their affectionate embrace.

“am i dreaming or is nemo finally acting… civil,” joão muses, his voice tinged with bewilderment and astonishment. the unexpected behavior of nemo has left you both perplexed and amazed.

"Y/n! captain Oro is asking for you" you did your best to hide the discomfort Armins words made you feel.

You smiled what you hoped was a convincing one and nodded. With a deep breath you made your way to Captains Oro's office.

Ever since you had been introduced to him those few weeks ago, he had taken a special liking to you. At first you had been excited, having such a highly skilled and well known captain take notice of you was one of the best feelings. Especially since your squad leader, Levi wasn't exactly heavy on praise.

Everyone loved Captain Oro, he was known for his strength and stamina on the battle field. He was both charismatic, and charming. Your fellow cadets practically swooned over him. You couldn't help but also get caught up in his perfection. At first that is..

Over time you noticed things about your meetings that put you on edge. An unnecessary shoulder touch here, a too low pat on the back there. Something was off. And although you had done your best to distance yourself from him, it was hard when your squads often had to work together.

But it was hard to say anything against him because even your cold blooded captain seemed to enjoy his presence.

Once you brought it up to your friend Sasha, about how you felt he was being too friendly. But she waved her hand and basically said you were worrying for nothing, he was just a friendly guy. And you were being dramatic.

Maybe you were overreacting? If captain levi approved of him, surely that meant he was a decent person right? Maybe he was just being really really friendly.

You decided to give him a chance and knocked on his door when you finally arrived.

"Come in" a muffled voice came from the other side.

With a click you entered the candlelit room. It was nearing sundown after all.

"Ah cadet y/n! Perfect, I was wondering if I might ask your opinion on something?" He smiled angelically and gestured towards a parchment on his desk.

"Of course sir" you nodded and approached him, reminding yourself of what sasha said. Just relax.

From the way the parchment was positioned you had no choice but to come to his side of the desk.

"Do you see this area here?" He gestured to what you now saw was a map. "What do you think of leading a squad through here instead of what we originally planned?"

The next 30 minutes you spent completely and professionally discussing strategies. Being the member of your squad that was best at this, made him asking for you completely justified. You felt bad for ever doubting his intentions.

"Thank you y/n, I think I have a better idea of what course we should pursue on our next expedition" he smiled sincerely.

"I'm glad I could be of service" you nodded and allowed a relaxed smile to pass your features. Feeling stupid you had judged him so harshly.

" If you wouldnt mind just one more thing?" You nodded as he pulled out a stack of papers.

"If you could look over this report of the last mission before I send it out? See if theres anything else to add?"

"Sure, I'd be happy to Captain" you grabbed the stack.

"And please if you can, return them to me tonight, I'll need them for the meeting bright and early"

"Yes sir, I'll finish it asap, good evening" and with that you exused yourself.

Tonight? It was already sundown. Well whatever, hes so busy he probably doesn't know what time of day it is.

You found a quiet spot amonsgt the crowds in the common room and got to work.

"Oi brat, it's passed curfew, go to your room now, we have important work tommorow" the unmistakable voice of your captain rang through the now empty hall.

You looked up in surprise and meet his usual scowl, not even realizing how late it had gotten.

"Hai, s-sorry captain, I'll go now" you gathered the report and quickly left, not wanting to receive another scolding for taking too long.

Oh crap you still had to deliever the report. Changing routes you snuck quietly down the familiar hallways. Not particularly feeling like running into Levi again. Something about him always made you act just a little dumber and it was definitely not because of your non existent crush on him...definitely not.. he was just intimidating is all.

*knock knock*

You waited patiently but there was no answer. Crap did he already go to bed? But he knew I was coming? Ugh what should I do? He needs these reports..

With a sigh you change direction again and head for his personal chambers. There was no way you were getting in trouble for not delivering these reports on time.

You smiled when you saw dim light flood from beneath the door.

Lightly you knocked, "Captain Oro, its y/n, sorry it's so late but I have the rep-" you were cut off abruptly when the door swung open and there stood Oro.

Except he looked nothing like the Oro you were used too seeing. His hair was loose from it's normal slicked back do, and the edges were dripping slightly. His shirt was loosely thrown on revealing a decent amount of skin. He must've just bathed.. you could see why the girls were so obsessed with him. He was, platonically speaking, a very gorgeous man.

You were taken aback but reminded yourself that you did knock after hours so of course he wasnt going to be all soldiered up.

"U-um s-sorry Captain, I have the reports" you averted your eyes and shoved the reports in his direction.

"Ah y/n, thank you, would you please put them on my table? My hands are still slightly wet." He laughed holding them up innocently.

"S-sure" god why were you stuttering so much, you fight goddamn titans for a living?! But somehow you were more nervous now than when a 10meter was clawing at you.

You entered the room and tried to avoid looking around too much.

You always wondered what the inside of the higher ups rooms look-

You whipped around, alarm bells suddenly back in full force.

"Captain what are you-"

"You're such a good girl, you know that y/n?" Oros whole demeanor changed and you cursed yourself for not trusting your earlier instincts.

"U-um" you really did not know what to say or do as he took a couple steps closer.

"Always so obedient for me, I think you deserve a reward don't you?"

Shit

"That's not...that's not necessary captain, I really should be going" you tried to lunge for the door but he was quicker and much much stronger.

"I don't believe I dismissed you cadet..." he purred pinning your arms to the door in the blink of an eye.

You were by no means weak, but your struggles were useless against him.

"Let me go" it took all your strength not to stutter in fear.

"How adorable, you know I love it when you follow my orders so well, but I think..." you shivered in disgust as you felt his lips near your neck and press down.

"I'd like to see you fight me as well" you whimpered as he sucked and bit down on the soft flesh.

"S-stop it, p-please" he smirked and looked into your fearful eyes with his lustful ones. "Stop? But that's not what you really want is it? You see I know exactly how girls like you are" he chuckled darkly and moved one of his hands to grip both your arms, while the other slid lower. You gasped when he cupped your breast. "S-stop! I'll, ill scream If you don't!" You felt a tear slide down your shaking form.

"Scream?" He snickered like you had told the funniest joke.

"Go ahead and scream doll, itll be very interesting to see what happens"

"W-what?" You were utterly confused.

"Think about it, if someone walks in on us, what would they think? Seeing a cadet after hours in her superiors chambers?"

"B-but I! I was bringing the reports i wasn't-!"

"Do you honestly think theyll care what you have to say? Who do you think theyll believe y/n? You a nobody cadet who's been fighting titans for 3 seconds? Or me, a selfless hero whos saved countless of scouts lives? All I have to tell them is that you came into my room and tried to seduce me. When I tried to restrain you, you screamed. Who do you think theyll listen too? Why else would you be here so late at night?"

"Y-You're..you're insane, you're not a hero, y-you're a coward who-" he grasped your jaw harshly causing you to wince.

"I'd watch that mouth of yours y/n" he squeezed harder. I am your superior after all, and we wouldnt want any nasty rumors going around that would have you suspended from the survey corps now would we?" He bent down and to your horror pressed his lips against yours.

Fuck fuck what do I do?!? Hes blackmailing me now. I cant fight him, hes too strong, think think think.

But your mind was blank when his cold lips pressed against your lips again. "Open your mouth" he ordered in a voice laced with animilistac lust.

You abruptly turned your head away desperate to get away.

"Heh, always such a tease" he traced a finger up and down your cheek, flipping over your lips. "I'll enjoy this-"

"CAPTAIN ORO, COMMANDER ERWIN REQUESTS YOUR PRESENCE IN HIS OFFICE IMMEDIATELY" a voice shouts from the other side of the locked door.

With an annoyed sigh, Oro pulls away slightly, "Did he say why?" He lazily looks over in the direction of the door.

"NO SIR!"

"guess it can't be helped... Alright tell him I'll be there shortly" he yelled out.

"Hai" the footsteps recended and you stood deathly still.

He pulled away from you and you immediately pulled your wrists to you, they were an angry red, and it scared you how much strength he had so effortlessly displayed.

"Sorry doll, it looks like we'll have to continue this another night" he stepped away and began dressing normally as if he hadn't just been assaulting you 5 second ago. You quickly make for the door but his voice falters your step, "Oh and y/n?"

You dont look at him, but fear held you in place until he finished, "If you mention our little moment to anyone, you know what will happen" you nodded quickly, anything to appease him and get out.

When the door shut behind you, you felt the flood of tears break through.

D-did, d-did that really happen?!?

You held a hand to quiet your sobs and quickly dashed through the hallways.

You're heart thumped and you felt the need to vomit. You hadn't felt this way since the first time youd encounted a titan. All you wanted to do was get to the safety of your room, just through the hall.

It felt like a bucket of cold water had been thrown on you when a cold voice shouted out and halted your movements. Please not now, oh god any time but now.

"Oi cadet y/n are you deaf as well as dumb? I asked you a question.

"Why are you out past curfew?" he sounded definitely annoyed and you gathered all your strength to hold the sobs out of your voice.

Without turning around you answered, "I-I had to deliver some r-reports..I'll head to my room now.." you stepped forward hoping he would let you go but you were not so lucky.

"Oi brat, did you hit your head? I didn't dismiss you yet. Not to mention you haven't even addressed me properly, maybe some time cleaning up horse shit will remind you how to respect your superiors" fuck he was definitely angry now.

Still you didn't turn around, you couldn't..."S-sorry Captain Levi, I'll do better in the future.." you barely could even focus on the words coming out of your mouth, your heart was beating a mile a minute. Please just leave me alone!

"Hahh" Levi uttered in disbelief and severe annoyance, even the most novice of cadets turn around when being spoken to by a superior. "Are you trying to piss me off brat?!?"

"No sir..." still you didnt turn around, but gulped in fear when you heard sharp footsteps near you.

"Cadet y/n, you have three seconds to turn around and salute me properly before I throw you into the cells for insubordination" he ordered in his dangerously calm voice, that you never thought would be directed at you.

Having no other choice you slowly turn around, hoping to god the darkness of the room would be enough to hide your current state.

You kept your head down, letting your hair fall over your face, but gave a proper salute. Hiding the Wince that came when the tender flesh of your wrist had to bend.

Your eyes were trained on the floor. And you tried to remember how to breathe normally again.

"At least you remember how to-" abruptly his harsh scolding stopped.

Why did he stop?! Fuck did he notice something. No no calm down, he probably just is coming up with another punishment...right?

Wrong...

Levi was far from being done with dicisplining you but he caught sight of your bruised wrist and furrowed his brows immediately. He knew for a fact the last time you spoke in the hall those had not been there. He was quick to take in the rest of your demeanor and knew immediately that the reason you were acting disrespectful was because something was wrong.

"Cadet y/n.." he said suspiciously slow and not full of anger anymore.

"Y-yes?" Please dont ask me, please dont ask me, please dont-

"Look at me"

Hi :DDD. Thank u for asking,,,, I have many thoughts. I am sorry in advance. This is one of those things I will put under a readmore because I am into rambling. IT GOT A LOT LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED IM SORRY. Like. a lot. It was 4 pages in google docs because i dont trust tumblr to save my drafts

Okay a lot of my Ranboo thoughts are about the syndicate / boreal trio / peerpressure duo. But you’re probably aware I am a Them enthusiast first and both a dsmp enjoyer and person second. Because. I really like the syndicate. I also don’t have too too many thoughts on the more recent lore past the experiments. Once the in character monologues stopped, so did my brain. I communicate through monologue to monologue communication.

American Healthcare is actually gonna be the main reason why this is so long bc it works Very Much for like three different reasons. One sorta niche and abstracter reason is a stream that was basically never elaborated on back in March, either the day after or very close to the peerpressure Egg confrontation stream. The egg called him a coward (for some reason my brain can Only come up with the “stop saying i look like chicken little. he’s dumb, and a coward, and i am NOT a coward” vine), and he is not a coward, so he decided to make an action plan to bring the server together by acting as a mediator for all parties and try to make sure that everyone is happy, because he’s the only one that can see all sides, or something. This was where he said the big happy family™ line but other than Ranboo Become Dream?? analysis nothing else really happened and everything went along as normal.

(I also always held a little bit of suspicion on this stream actually and thought it might be the influence of the egg, because it says it can give one whatever they want, and ranboo wants to make everyone happy and this was a totally foolproof way of doing that. Sort of in a similar way that BBH is convinced that his plan will totally make Skeppy happy. But also Ranboo is just like that, but this felt a little more on the nose than usual and he did fall into the egg and made his decisions after being egged on by it, buT WE’LL NEVER KNOW, WILL WE?

That was a little off topic from the point, but… he really just thinks he can save the sick… he can see that everyone on the server is unwell and is wrong but, y’know, look inwardly, the unwell is coming from inside the house. And an inherent problem of the way that the server runs. And if this is still lowkey in effect or not (idk man a) ranboo has monologued a lot I simply chose a one off from march to grow emotionally attached to and b) i think that my brain has shut off once ranboo stopped solo lore streams), it would probably go the way that most choosing to change the system from the inside goes. Which is the point of the song and stuff! He will inevitably decide what’s too far, whether he will either admit it’s a choice or just feel that it’s what he has to do. The, uh, dealing with the devil, to be polite.

in conclusion (but we are not close to done here i’m holding you for a bit longer), i think a lot about that stream and i think that shows what he wants to be, at the very least, and continuing down that path would definitely go into being far more trouble than just a noble goal of wanting to help people, from negotiating with corruption (The lobbyists, the Congressmen and lies bit) and that the server can’t really be brought together and saved like that (When things are more and more this way / Sometimes it's like they'd rather die)

THE LESS. vwoop why have you written an unnecessarily long post about one stream in your playlist character analysis reason is both more literal and piece by piece and also Syndicate, My Beloved, you know the drill. We are going line by line because I have a lot of feelings about American Healthcare, apparently.

This also comes back to that everyone on the server is doing Really Badly, all of the time, but mostly his time in L’Manburg. For one, he is pretty complacent in everything and doesn’t really accomplish much in terms of actual change, so like Well people die every day / I wouldn't have it any other way / I just think they should feel good while they are alive. An example of this is Exiled Tommy — who I’d also metaphorically put as the dead man just for funsies, since Tommy’s whole exile thing was one of the first things Ranboo experienced on the server—as he did try to be friends with Tommy and keep him company with his letters, but he still has no power over the actual issue at hand. Just trying to make it a bit more bearable. Similarly is Techno, while Ranboo still participated in the butcher army that was trying to kill him, he helped in the meantime until he “died”.

And then it’s the Realization that participating in the system doesn’t really help much, and the subsequent Everything. It could be getting mad at the whole government system and that he didn’t mean to contribute to the harm, or how he fought with Fundy using hs ideology but not in the way that Ranboo thought. It could also be standing up to his hallucination Dream, in that he doesn’t try this hard to be a good person just to be accused of helping with all of the things that he may or may not have helped with. (That is… a discussion for not right now, I don’t know.) And I think this sort of area is also where it’s like they’d rather die is also relevant, cause Doomsday. Nobody could just set aside their governments and just get along, though Ranboo had his own solution to fighting and things.

And then he joins the Syndicate! And the lyrics of the song are directly Government Bad, because government bad. Canon anarchist, has done things that he’s not proud of as a part of the government. The lines it was the government / … It got louder over the years / Until all that I could hear was flies and all.

But honestly I think in the Syndicate he’s still trying to “save the sick”! Because the Syndicate don’t All fit eye to eye either. He’s the token pacifist, and a vote against violence whenever it comes down to it. Not all anarchists are violent but Techno and Phil will probably react strongly when provoked, due to All the past events, and I live in a world where their trauma and issues get talked about as much as everyone else’s. Since everything is decided by vote it’d probably be split between them and Ranboo + Niki, who is in her healing/no longer resorting to murder arc. He’ll help them negotiate and then everything will Be Okay, ideally.

(Also I just like the idea of Ranboo believing that he is helping the people he’s living with because canonically cc!Ranboo has said he just really cares about his family and the syndicate are included in his family shut up but they also just believe they’re helping him and yes it’s self indulgent. I care them. Particularly Endduo, actually, or whatever they're called, I am not bold enough to think Ranboo looks at Techno and thinks I Can Fix Him, but. Philza Minecraft will one day talk about his feelings. One day.)

There’s also radioduo and beeduo as of recent— really I’m just saying I think that Ranboo constantly has a Need To Help People, believes he can do it, and it will come back to hurt him in the end (except for the Syndicate because I’m in denial. The Syndicate can’t fall out if they never stream together :) ).

THIS CONCLUDES THE AMERICAN HEALTHCARE PORTION OF OUR SHOW.

The Only House That’s Not on Fire Yet !! I like this one. This is also blatantly there cause Syndicate. They are the only faction that is not actively falling apart, and this could absolutely be because they never stream together. But I do not care. However we are also going to go through this one piece by piece because we’re nearing 1500 words here and I might as well embarrass myself more. I am writing an incredibly informal essay about Ranboo My _Beloved (i assume his middle name is My, and he’s just one of those people who write his full full name) and this is the third page. If you’re still reading this, I’m sorry. Here we go.

There are lines that just seem like an unwell but recovering person, and I like to sort of think that way about Ranboo in the arctic during the down time. “I feel knotted up today / But in a most exquisite way” and “I feel strangely regular / But honestly I prefer it to / The usual bizarre” are just! He’s just hanging out. He’s doing good. There is the acknowledgement that he’s usually not doing well, and all of the episodes that he’s had in the past, and it’s probably strange to be doing well in the midst of everything, and there’s probably something impending, but now? He’s doing good!

The verses directly after both of those ones are about uncertainty and trust and such, and I feel like that’s not necessarily about just One relationship but all of them. Will cause problems as long as he has an accomplice. He is not confident but he trusts and loves people.

“This suit doesn’t fit me / I made it conterfeitly” I just like to think about Ranboo in his fancy suit, but it’s just a little wrong because he actually has no idea what he’s doing. I also like to think about Ranboo in a cape to fit in with boreal trio and later the syndicate, and emerald duo had matchy blue outfits from the Antarctic Empire… and trying to fit in with them…. or maybe They make him something.. You know. Much to think about.

“Killing me with déjà vu” I think is like. A little less fun, because despite how well things are going, the enderwalk is still not resolved and he had even less answers when I started thinking “this is a ranboo song”. Just as it relates to having a strange sense of reality and stuff, which goes into specifics of enderwalk headcanons, which would make this far longer. Even though I’ve framed it as a negative, there is also the more positive note of “Oh! I just thought of how to change all the hate / Into love with the old switcheroo / Dancing in my déjà vu / You'll be dancing too” which I’d rather explain broken up but I feel like as it’s a full verse it should be together. The first part is connected to my general thoughts of him explained earlier tbh, he’s trying Very Hard to make everyone happy and fix things. And adding the second part to it is just like! He is trying to make sense of everything, and it’s not so scary as time goes by. Since the experiments where he’s been (questionably) trying to be more comfortable and get more answers.

This was very long. I am sorry. I am ending it here and probably not going to do much formatting to make it readable because it is very late o’clock and also this is four pages and 2000 words I am so sorry. But if you read this far then. Uhhh thank. ^v^.

The bass boomed, tremors moving across the worn wooden floors of the club and into your bones. The vibrations caused you to teeter, bracing against the wall for support. The alcohol running through your veins didn’t help either.  

Where the hell were your friends?

Today was supposed to be about you, they said. Something to get your mind off your break-up. A recovery outing with booze and dancing.

Seems like they just used you as an excuse (though they didn’t need to). 

You were perfectly content in throwing yourself into work after your asshole of a boyfriend said he couldn’t handle being outmatched by you anymore. Coward. 

If he was going to be intimidated by you and let that get in the way of your perfectly good relationship, then fine. You’ll chase promotions. You’ll move up in the company. Let him just be a research assistant and one day, you’ll be giving him orders.

Love was just a distraction, anyway. 

...but first you have to find your goddamn friends. 

Walking past the various booths lining the walls, everything seemed to revolve around the largest one, oriented in a U-shape. Only three people sat there, a pair of gods and a goddess, by the looks of it. One with golden locks of hair secured low at the nape of his neck. A matching beard adorned his face, giving him a rough look that didn’t match the finely tailored suit he wore.

The other, sat in the middle, had dark locks cascading down before stopping at his chin. Sharp features gave him a conniving look. He looked rather modest, fitted into a dark turtleneck covered with a black blazer.

The woman stood out the most in what you recognized as a silver power suit, in great contrast to her dark skin. The jacket did nothing other than act as an accessory, draped on her shoulders while the front panels laid open, exposing a complementary bustier with matte gray outlines along the hems. 

There was ample space between them as they lounged across the velvet covers and sipped idly. You didn’t miss the burly man perched at one opening of the booth, throwing intimidating glances at those who looked too long as they passed by. You made sure to keep your gaze short. 

Short as it was, someone grasps at your arm, startling you.

“Careful, Skurge!” the woman yells at him. 

Besides the two thick black lines that run parallel from the front to the back of his head, he looks normal and definitely built underneath his suit. 

“Don’t freak out, darling,” the woman yells. “C’mere,” she bids you. 

Skurge releases your arm, motioning for you to go to the booth. With every step you take towards the table, you feel the woman devouring you with her gaze. She’s not subtle with a smirk spread across her face. She even bites her lip, watching the fabric of your dress stretch around your ass as you sit down. 

She hooks a finger to you, ordering you closer. Looking to the other patrons at the table, they don’t seem very interested. You scoot deeper into the booth until you deem yourself close enough. 

It’s not enough for her, apparently. 

Leaning towards you, a hand comes around your waist and she pulls you until you’re almost sitting on her lap. Her hand never moves, but her lips do, very close to your ear. 

“Comfortable, kjære?” 

Though you don’t recognize the term of endearment, her voice puts you in a trance, a chilling, tingling sensation running down your spine. 

You stammer out an affirmation, then your eyes flutter shut as she runs her fingers through your hair. 

“Good.” 

A kiss is pressed below your ear and you know you’re in trouble.

“She should be here already.”

Peter mumbles as he looks at his watch for the umpteenth time.

You are currently at a charity gala hosted by Tony Stark and everything would be running smoothly if it weren’t for aunt May’s lack of presence. She said she’d be here twenty minutes ago and yet she is nowhere to be seen which has Peter, your best friend, on edge.

He had asked you to accompany him to the event since he would be giving a speech and there was no way you’d refuse his offer. Not only because you knew he could use your support but because you’d take any chance you could to be with him, seeing as you have been harbouring a crush on him for the past three months. Not that he knew, of course.

“Have you tried calling her?” Your voice is gentle, trying to calm his nerves a bit.

Peter shakes his head as he murmurs something you can’t make out but he pulls out his phone from his pocket. You watch as he dials and perks up as soon as he hears May’s voice on the other end, the stress dissipating slightly. A minute later he ends the call, looks at you and gives you a tight lipped smile.

“She’s stuck in the traffic.”

You can’t help but laugh. Poor thing has been stressing over nothing!

“Gosh, Pete. You need to chill.” Placing your hands on his shoulders you shake him a bit, trying to loosen up his stiff posture. “She’s gonna be here on time, you’ll see.”

“I’m just– ugh, I’m so nervous.” His jittering hands find yours, interlacing his fingers with yours. Once again he looks nervous, giving you a worried look. “This whole thing is so stressful and I’m afraid I’ll mess things up.”

He rambles, words spilling non-stop as panic engulfs him again. But all you can think of is how warm his hand feels against yours. Your heart starts pounding on your chest at the unexpected contact of your hand with his but you know he needs the reassurance so you act like you’re not about to combust in the spot.

“Hey, I’m here. Nothing bad is gonna happen and your gonna ace it. C’mon spider-man.” You give him words of encouragement, smiling reassuringly at him before making a funny face.

This finally earns you a laugh from him and you can’t help but feel the pride swirling on your chest. If only he could see himself in your eyes.

You are making small talk, distracting him for a bit when you see the Tony stark approaching and you try to free your hand from Peter’s, thinking that he might not want to give the wrong idea. But you are surprised when he stops you by squeezing your hand, a nervous look on his face. You smile at him reassuringly and squeeze it back, earning a tiny smile from him.

“Hey kiddo. I see you made it.” Tony Stark says as he claps a hand on Peter’s shoulder.

“Y-yeah. Everything looks good, the place-” Peter clears his throat which has suddenly gone dry and you look at him worried. “The place looks amazing, Mr. Stark.”

“Thanks, Pete. And you brought company?” The man himself smiles at you with a raised brow.

Peter seems to come out of his daze and he looks at you, eyes wide open and then proceeds to introduce you. “Ah, yes, yes. This is my best friend..”

As Peter introduced you to Mr. Stark you greeted him with a polite smile. Peter had warned you Mr. Stark wasn’t very fond of physical interaction so you refrained from doing so.

“Ah, best friend. Is that what they call girlfriends nowadays?” Tony says in a mocking tone as he fakes a confused look, his finger tapping on his chin. “Your generation is weird.”

Clapping his hand on Peter’s shoulder one more time, Tony turns to leave not before winking at you. You look at Peter and you’re sure you would’ve laughed if you weren’t feeling so mortified. Peter looks as if he’s seconds away from passing out, red as a tomato while his mouth opens and closes, utterly speechless.

“Well, that went well?” You try to lighten up the mood, turning the awkwardness into a joke but Peter seems to be on the verge of exploding.

“Oh my god.” He finally looks at you, big brown eyes filled with nothing but embarrassment which causes you to break down.

You start laughing so loud that some guests give you looks but you don’t care because Peter is right next to you, doubled over in laughter as tears fall from his eyes. Your laughs soon die down to giggles, and if you weren’t a coward you’d have probably grabbed Peter’s face and kissed him right then and there because he looked so damn pretty. Flushed cheeks and shiny brown eyes looking at you as adorable giggles escape his mouth.

Out of nowhere, you hear the faint sound of a song you know all too well. Peter has been obsessing over Hozier’s music for the past six months, you even tried to get tickets for one of his concerts but sadly they sold out before you could refresh the website, leaving Peter all sad and mopey for a week.

Apparently Peter heard it too because a moment later his head perks up so quickly you worry it will come off his neck. “My song!”

You roll your eyes as the overexcited puppy next to you starts mouthing the words. The song must’ve given him some sense of familiarity, dissipating his nerves a bit because next thing you know he’s pulling you by your –still– interlaced hands to the dance floor as if it were the living room of his home.

“Peter! How do you even dance to this?” You whisper-yell when you both reach the middle of the dance floor, a few curious eyes watching you.

“Umm,” He clearly didn’t think this through and now you’re both standing like dumbs as more people wait to see what you’re up to. Peter gives you a timid smile, his cheeks turning slightly red “Like a waltz?”

Your breath hitches, nervousness hitting you like a truck but if this will calm Peter’s nerves then you have no other option. Not like you don’t want to dance with him.

You place a hand on his shoulder as you feel him hold you by the waist. Interlacing your other hand with his, you start swaying softly. It feels as if every single pair of eyes focus on you so you try to zone them out, relishing on having Peter so close to you. Closing your eyes briefly, you ease out the tension from your shoulders focusing on the music.

“Is this okay?” Peter’s gentle tone catches your attention.

Distancing yourself slightly from him, you look straight at his eyes and smile, nodding your head. “Yeah.”

You sound breathless, being so close to him is certainly making your heart jump excitedly inside your chest leaving you agitated.

He gives you a toothy smile, his childish aura captivating you and unconsciously freeing any shyness you have been feeling previously.

Placing your arms around his neck, you pull him closer. He immediately corresponds by encircling your waist with both arms. A dreamy sigh escapes your mouth and he laughs, his mouth placed right next to your ear.

“This is nice.”

You answer him by holding him tighter, which sends Peter into overdrive. He kisses you on your temple, melting your heart in the process. Lying the side of your face on his shoulder, you sigh contentedly.

Eventually the song ends and you distance yourself from each other, goofy smiles on your lips as Tony Stark makes his way to the scenario and clears his throat, successfully catching everyone’s attention.

“Good evening, everyone. I’m pleased to be here...” Tony starts greeting the guests and thanking them for attending.

You glance briefly at Peter who looks at ease, less nervous and jittery than before. Once Tony  announces Peter will be the one to further explain the purpose and goals of the charity, you give his hand a squeeze. He hasn’t let it go ever since he grabbed it earlier today.

“Go get ‘em, tiger.”

After placing a kiss on your cheek, Peter walks away leaving you a blushing mess on the dance floor.

You watch as he walks up the stairs leading to the scenario and Mr. Stark greets him with a hug. You can’t help but smile at the interaction knowing that Tony cares about Peter as if he were his own son.

“So, what did I miss?”

May’s voice comes out of nowhere and you turn to look at her. She’s smiling, oblivious as to what his nephew has done to your heart the past hour.

Oh, not much. Just your nephew holding me in his arms, turning my heart into jelly as I fall harder for him.

Yeah, nope.

ASDFYU OMG THANK YOU NONNY I STAN I STANNN 

Well, I actually made some of my MC x Noah HC because they are s o u l m a t e s and this is the post buuuuut some Noah hc I have are:

- As I mentioned in my other HC list, Noah is insomniac. He is always staying late and avoids sleeping because almost everytime he falls asleep he has nightmares thus he is always anxious when sleeping. Since he began dating MC in this magical AU the nightmares have been more manageable

- Can I reiterate on the fact that he has a beanie collection?? Like, I am talking all colors and sizes, homeboy’s only fashion statement is his beanie and we stan.

- He is terrible at using social media. MC and Stacey had to b e g him to create an Instagram account. To this day he still does not understand why people add hashtags to posts

- His favorite bands are Green Day, Simple Plan, Set it Off and Rex Orange County (see as I self insert myself in Noah LMAOO)

- His favorite Disney movies are treasure planet and Dumbo because he used to watch them as a kid a lot with Jane *crying noises intensify*

- He is actually a pretty decent singer! The one or two times MC catches him whispering some song she makes a huge deal out of it and asks him to sign autographs for her so when he becomes famous she can sell them, causing him to dramatically roll his eyes and blush while looking away.

- Even though he is a good singer, Noah haaaates dancing and he sucks at it. As I mention in the other HC list, he always ends up tumbling over with his own feet and avoids dance floors like the plague, only slightly softening for MC

- He refuses to buy AirPods even tho all the others have them. His most significant character trait is using wired headphones and owning it

- He has MC saved as “Dumbass 🖤”

- The crew has a group chat in which Noah has tried exiting, multiple times, only to be added once again and everyone going in his case for him to stop being emo asdfghjk

- His spirit animal is a wolf according to him, every-time MC remembers his answer to that question she starts quoting the “in all levels except physical I am a wolf” vine and “Noah has exited the chat” once again.

- His proudest achievement is his music library, with his infinite playlists selection.

- I mention this in almost all my Noah posts but his love for family is one of the things I like the most about him. How much he grasps into that hope his sister is alive and how much he suffers for it, even willing to sacrifice his soulmate friend for that, which okay, was wrong, but he did it with all the good intentions in the bottom of his heart.

- His humor definitely. asdfghj cynical and dark humor is very uwuwuwuwuwu attractive to me and my dankness so yeeee

- His passion for culinary school is soooo asdfghjk of his part. I personally have absolutely no idea how to boil water, so in the first place I admire anyone who knows how to cook, and just how much it means to him. Culinary school is his dream and he has abandoned it, but in every scene you speak that he brings it up, you can see how happy it makes him and asdfghjk bby boiiii

- His beanies asdfghjkkuytr okay okay I know I make fun of them a lot and stuff but beanies are actually are one of my few weaknesses for guys clothing lmaooo (just right behind glasses 😍)

So I answered an ask from my homegirl Kato a while back answering and analyzing if Noah and I would actually work out in real life and I think in a way, the same answer can answer this question.

We would break up because in some way, we are too similar. In the sense that we are both pretty introverted, kept to ourselves, a bit of bad humor and that would lead us to clash in our own ways. Thats why I believe he needs someone like I HC my MC to be. She is outgoing, helping him get out of his shell, get out and explore, she is like the light and they balance each other out. If I were to date Noah we would just both fall into one side of the balance xDD

I KID, I’ve wanted to use this gif of Dorinda for forever, so I’m forcing it to apply to your ask…but it’s also kind of appropriate, too? Because nobody likes getting anon hate, I mean, most of mine is so asinine as to be farcical, but who wants to see it, even when it’s idiotic? I’m not a masochist! But with that said, I also feel like I’ve had it way easier than the ones I personally know who’ve left because they had to absorb a veritable shit-stream of highly personal, 100% weaponized, garbage attacks on all fronts. (This doesn’t mean you can/should try that out on me, you demons, I’m just saying that, relatively speaking, even the spell of vile horseshit I got a couple of months ago was nothing compared to what I know other people got.) But your (extremely sweet) ask was about how I deal with it, so here goes:

1. I block block block, and that goes not just on the ask but on any blog I can find that’s trying to stir its lil fiefdom of cowards behind computers into action (I don’t spend time looking for haters, but every now and again, someone will tell me privately, I block that blog, and the asks disappear, modern-day wizardry)

2. I stockpile a folder of all-purpose reaction images (like Dorinda!) for those moments when I’m crazy and/or drunk enough to answer something that particularly gets my goat, the idea being that I can at least amuse myself, lol

3. I remember that, ultimately, there are loads of super nice people, and some of them even send me supportive messages that I absolutely keep for rainy days…I have a few in my inbox just below what I’m typing here!

4. I remember, too, that people sending anon hate are the most tragic of the tragique because this is what they choose to spend their precious time on earth doing, namely, crafting toxic bullshit to send to a stranger about some other stranger (usually a celebrity they’ll never meet, ever) and then actually clicking the tab to hide who they are, and that last step, my friend…that’s when they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they’re cowards (the ultimate irony is when they’re coming for me on “moral superiority grounds,” lmaoooo) 

5. I have actual real-life friends here who counteract any and all rancor just by existing (as I’m typing this, for example, Kim is sending me commentary on an a/b/o “Stranger Things” fic that is killing me dead)

6. I don’t have search turned on for this blog, and I run a SHIT-TON of random posts on the daily, so if anyone wants to send me hate, they’re gonna have to work for it, good luck finding the problematic post, hopefully they’re enjoying the aesthetic slideshow along the way…yer welcome, pals! 

7. Finally, I channel the captain of the S.S. Bad Ass, by which I mean I double down, fuck ‘em, and keep on moving, why should I stop putting my dumbass tags on shit because someone else thinks they deserve my password?

Anyway, welcome to tumblr, friend, and thank you for your kind thoughts (and ask)! The (Un)Wanted Kiss [Chapter 10]

Bucky wasn’t really sure why he was even surprised about Steve and Sam. Sam had filled a lot of the roles that had once been for Bucky. It wasn’t that Bucky was bitter towards Steve for it, necessarily. If Sam and Steve were happy together, so be it.

If Sam was everything Bucky couldn’t be, then so be it.

That’s what Steve deserved, wasn’t it? He deserved the best.

Everything Bucky couldn’t be.

Sitting in Tony’s workshop lights off in the middle of the damned night, Bucky stared at the gun in his hand. It felt heavy, so heavy Bucky could hardly lift it. Its weight was all in Bucky's head, sure he knew that. It was all in his head, messing with him. Taunting him. The bullet almost seemed to know that Bucky wanted it there, buried in his skull and had already begun burrowing its way -even if figuratively- into his brain.

Too bad Bucky was too coward to pull the trigger.

Even with the image of Steve and Sam together seared into his mind, even with the awful pain of knowing how awful he’d been to Tony, Bucky couldn’t do it. Even sitting alone in Tony’s workshop while the genius slept because Bucky couldn’t even go to his own room, he couldn’t do it.

He wanted to. God, he wanted to. Wanted to be able to pull the trigger, shoot himself in the head. It’d be easier for everyone, wouldn’t it? Steve was happy without him. All Bucky had done was cause a mess for Tony. The UN wouldn’t even have to worry about him anymore.

It’d be easier for everyone. Easy. As easy as just pulling a trigger.

Bucky couldn’t even bring himself to point the damned gun at his head.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Tony’s rough voice filled the room and a light flicked on. “FRIDAY said you were down here hanging out.”

Bucky looked up like a deer caught in the headlights. “Nothing. Just thinking.”

Tony walked over in nothing but a tank top and briefs, sitting down next to Bucky. “In my personal experience, ‘just thinking’ with a gun in your hand is a lot more than thinking.”

Bucky looked down at the gun, and up at Tony. He didn’t know what to say. He never did, anymore.

“Right.” Tony cleared his throat. “Look, whatever you’re thinking about… don’t. Okay? Don’t do it. It’s not worth it. It’s never worth it.”

“How can you say that?” Bucky whispered. “How can you know that? I’ve caused you nothing but trouble. I’m not worth this, Tony.”

“Is anyone worth the trouble?” Tony shrugged. “Maybe. Maybe not. I don’t really think that matters. Look, I can’t stop you from pulling the trigger. No one can, if that’s what you’re determined to do. But I can tell you that you shouldn’t. That people would miss you.” He paused, head tilting to the side. “That I’d miss you.”

Bucky’s heart twisted into awful knots. “Why-you?”

“Why not?” Tony fidgeted a bit. “Who else would hang out down here and keep me company? Dum-E and U get annoying after awhile, you know.” He forced a smile and shaky laugh. Bucky managed a faint smile too.

“I want to,” Bucky said, quietly.

Tony nodded. “I know-”

“No, lemme finish.” Bucky shook his head. "I want to," Bucky forced the words out and they were barely a hoarse whisper. "I want to deserve it. I want to deserve having someone like you kiss me. Kiss me not for the cameras or the press, but... kiss me because you want to. Because you like it. I want it, but even more, I want to deserve it." Bucky drew in a shuddering breath.

“Oh.” Tony sounded… startled, really. Bucky didn’t blame him. It came out of nowhere, and startled him, even. But it was something he needed to say. “Well. For the record, I think you deserve it. I don’t know about me, though. But you do.”  

“Why wouldn’t you?” Bucky stared at him.

Tony laughed, almost hysterically. “I kissed you on national television and didn’t even give you so much as a warning, let alone ask for consent. It’s a dick move.”

“It was necessary,” Bucky admitted. Not only to Tony but also to himself. “It made me angry, sure. And I had reason to be. But you did what you had to. I could be in an underground prison being tortured right now if it weren’t for you.”

“Still got a long ways to go.” Tony countered. “This fight is far from over, Bucky.”

“I know.” Bucky sighed. “But thanks to you, there’s a fight, to begin with.”

Tony’s smile was more genuine this time. “And for what it’s worth? I want to kiss you too.”

Bucky blinked. “Really?”

“Yeah.”

“You can. If you want.” Bucky set the gun down.

Tony studied Bucky’s face for a painfully long moment. “Well then, I better do it right this time.” He cleared his throat, leaning closer to Bucky. “James Buchanan Barnes, may I kiss you?”

Bucky felt tears welling up, but it wasn’t painful. It was beautiful. “Yes, please.” He nodded.

Tony smiled and closed the gap, going slow enough for Bucky to be able to pull back if he wanted to. Tony’s hand came up to cradle the side of Bucky’s face, his calloused hand feeling like a perfect heaven against Bucky’s skin. The kiss was even better.

Tony’s lips were a bit chapped and tasted like alcohol, but they were still warm and comforting. Nothing was forced, and it wasn’t even a long kiss. Just a gentle press of lips before they broke apart again. Tony stared at Bucky, waiting for his reaction. He looked… nervous, almost.

It was cute.

“That was perfect,” Bucky murmured. He smiled a bit. “May I have another?”

Tony laughed so hard his forehead bumped with Bucky’s. “That was so fucking corny, Barnes. Really?”

“Really.” Bucky brushed a hand through Tony’s hair. “I want to kiss you every day.”

Tony licked his lips. “We’ll see about that.” He kissed Bucky again.

It was perfect.

Leaning your chin against the palm of your hand you looked blandly from the cash register and to the book that had been placed before you. With hesitant fingers, you slid your prints over the smooth ribbon wrapped around the bound pages and sighed. 

“Me Before You” the title stated boldly. The black letters shone out before you, causing you to swallow heavily, the small bit of saliva sinking to your stomach like a stone. 

Looking up to your coworker, you exchanged looks before he gave you a brief, but sympathetic smile. “Again?” 

“It’s in the post box and addressed to you,” he hummed. “Am I to assume it’s not a subscription service?” 

“No,” you sighed, letting your face fall into your hands. 

“...so should i start throwing them in the bin?” he winced. 

“I-I’m honestly not sure,” you said quietly, running your hand along the printed pages again. 

He knew you had a torrid past with your ex boyfriend. 

And he knew that was exactly who had been delivering you books near every month. 

What he didn’t know was that you read each book that had been bestowed upon you. 

From cover to cover. 

And fixated on every word. 

Because that’s what you did with books that Namjoon gave to you. That’s what you had done from the very beginning. Just because you had broken up, didn’t mean you hadn’t found value in his literary choices. 

“Y/N,” your coworker sighed, leaning against the counter as well. He tilted his head before smiling sadly at you again. “Have you talked to him?” 

“Who?” you said dumbly, sliding the book from before you and setting it out of sight. 

“Oh, is this the route you want to go?” he chuckled. 

“No,” you grumbled. “I haven’t talked to him...” 

“So why do you keep getting book deliveries from him?” he asked quietly. “From what I understand...you didn’t have the greatest separation.” 

And he was right. You didn’t have an amicable breakup. Namjoon, deep, emotional, and introspective, hadn’t always been the man you had expected him to be. He was passionate and loved with such ferocity, so you had never imagined that he could become weak, that he could become incapable of handling a long distance relationship. He had become so lost in his work, in his living, that he didn’t come up for air. You couldn’t breath in the same world that he had, you couldn’t handle his work driving him away from you. 

And when you finally decided to put yourself first, he had completely collapsed into a puddle of himself. Once things had ended, you hadn’t heard from him for months...

...until the books started. 

And you began to notice him everywhere. 

“Just because I haven’t talked to him...” you trailed. “Doesn’t mean I haven’t seen him...”

“What the hell does that mean?” he gasped. 

“This might sound crazy-”

“We’re past that,” he interrupted. “We’re on the crazy bus now and there are no scheduled stops.” 

“You know how...sometimes you think you see someone,” you continued quietly. “Out of the corner of your eye...on the subway platform as the train flies by, or in a shop window while your standing on the sidewalk...I feel like I see him...I feel like I see him during those times. When my guard is down and he’s the farthest thing from my mind. Like he’s watching me from afar...respecting me...protecting me...wondering how I am or what I’m doing...”

“While the way your describing it sounds endearing...that sounds like a problem,” he whispered, shaking his head. “Do you...do you still care about him?”

“Of course I do,” you sighed. “But I just can’t anymore.”

“Well, if you care...and you feel like you keep seeing him anyway, would it be such a bad idea to give him a call?” he asked. “I mean...the man is still taking time to send you books. That involves going to the post office..and paying for postage. That’s a lot of work for this generation.”

“Oh, look,” you gasped. “A customer just came in! Why don’t you go greet them?”

“Making me go away won’t make this situation go away,” he grinned, pushing himself from the counter.

You pushed away from the counter as well and stuck your tongue out at him. “Says you!”

Your thoughts were in a whirlwind as you continued your shift, your eyes consistently wandering back to the book you had attempted to hide from sight. 

“Me before you,” you whispered quietly as you slid the novel into your bag, ready to close for the night. You had successfully managed to avoid your coworker for the majority of your evening, only pausing for a moment as you began to lock up. 

You stood on the sidewalk, side by side, allowing the light, evening drizzle to tap lightly across your shoulders. 

“Think about what I said,” he sighed, pulling the keys from the lock. He tugged his jacket further up on his neck and nodded at you sternly. “Talking to him wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.” 

“Correct,” you muttered. “Because that would mean it’s worse than this conversation.” 

“So stubborn,” he muttered. “Have a good night, Y/N.” 

“See you tomorrow.” 

Parting ways, you both stumbled in opposite directions. With the book Namjoon had given you securely tucked beneath the crook of your arm, you breathed a sigh of relief. You would be able to settle down soon in bed, and flip through the pages, allowing yourself a brief escape. 

A brief escape from the strange situation you had unknowingly put yourself in. 

Before the books had begun to arrive, the silence from Namjoon was deafening. Granted, you hadn’t exactly planned to become his best friend after you had broken up, but you had at least expected to hear from him on occasion. A clean break was selfishly something you hadn’t imagined, but it made sense. Sometimes it was easier to just let old wounds close. Reaching out would only make the residual emotions worse. That’s why after hearing nothing for so long, you were stumped when books began to steadily appear at your work place.

You knew they were from him. Who else would have sent them? As to why...you were still rather unsure. Namjoon had loved reading. It gave him inspiration, allowed him to explore new ideas, fostered his ability to learn. The only thing he loved nearly as much (besides music of course) was sharing that love with those he cared about. You were one of the lucky few he would loan books to with fervor (and also one of the few he could depend on to actually read them.) You were privileged in that way, and greatly enjoyed skimming the pages of his favorite novels. It would bring you that much closer to him. 

And maybe that was why you still read them. You ached for the closeness you had denied yourself. The closeness he had denied you. The closeness you still secretly yearned for, but were too embarrassed to seek. 

“Hey,” a deep voice echoed from nearby. Shaking you from your thoughts, you felt as you had been pushed into a fog. For a moment, your daydreams had stumbled into your reality. Surely thinking of your ex-boyfriend hadn’t summoned his voice in your head. 

“Nam...Namjoon?” you stuttered. Glancing up, you let out a shaky breath, meeting the man’s gaze you hadn’t seen in close to half of a year. Standing beneath a clear umbrella, he let the streetlights illuminate him from above, highlighting the shadows in his cheeks and underside of his jaw. He looked exactly the same as he had when you had broken his heart. 

“I’m sorry...did I scare you?” he asked quietly. 

“Well this wasn’t exactly expected...” you trailed, running a hand along the back of your neck. 

“I just...I needed to talk to you. We needed to talk,” he whispered. 

Grimacing, you nodded slowly. Quietly and contently recieving books from your ex-boyfriend every month was admittedly, creepy. You were a fool to think it would continue on without any sort of confrontation. 

Reaching out with nervous hands, Namjoon’s long fingers snaked around the fabric of your coat sleeve and pulled you in close. Protecting you from the rain with his umbrella, his body heat radiated toward you, making you overly aware of his sudden appearance. 

“You sent me a book today,” you said quietly, afraid to make eye contact. 

“I send you books a lot of days,” he chuckled softly, ducking his head to catch your attention. “I apologize If you were surprised by seeing me...but I’ve been trying to catch up with you for awhile now...” 

“Oh,” you struggled to verbalize. You hadn’t just been imagining seeing him after all... “So you’ve been checking up on me? Following me around? A phone call wouldn’t do?” 

“I’ve been selfish,” he whispered. “I’m a coward. I’ve wanted to see you, but have been too terrified to actually talk. I’ll get close...and then give up, too terrified to actually call out to you...if you saw me, what would you even say? That’s why I’ve been sending books...I don’t want you to stop thinking about me...I guess that’s selfish of me as well.” 

“Namjoon,” you said earnestly, finally chancing a glance at him. “This is not okay. We’ve broken up...I don’t know why you’re acting-“ 

“I know,” he sighed. “I know you’ve probably moved on...I’ve seen you with the man you work with and you look so much happier than you did with me in the end. Tell me...tell me you aren’t with him? I know I’m being abrasive...and self-centered...and odd, but please tell me...” 

“What?” you coughed. Catching his dark eyes in the light, you began to notice the deep blush spreading across his cheeks. “I have no interest in him...we...we aren’t together.” 

“Y/N,” he whispered, the rain growing steadier on the umbrella above the two of you. “I’ve wondered...I’ve wondered for weeks why I couldn’t be him. I can’t stop thinking about you...I wonder where you are...what you’re doing...If your safe...I can’t sleep...“ 

“But why so suddenly?” you asked, furrowing your brows. “That wasn’t your concern when we were together, Namjoon. That isn’t fair to decide now that you want to care.” 

“And I’ve told you I’m a coward,” he nodded, looking away from you again. “I find myself taking the road home that passes by your house. Shopping for books in hopes that the titles will make you want me again.” 

“A book can’t make me want you,” you whimpered. “Not when all I ever wanted was you to begin with.” 

“I know I’ve made mistakes,” he breathed. Finally looking at you again, he reached up with a hesitant hand and set it on your upper arm. His close proximity had become intoxicating. With every word his deep voice uttered, you seemed to grow more and more lost within him. “I don’t want to continue on with the biggest mistake I’ve ever made...not fighting for you...not loving you how you’ve deserved. I’ve never aspired to beg for something before...but at this point I’m willing...” 

You felt your throat begin to close, words becoming more and more difficult to speak as tears threatened to fall from your cheeks. “So you’ve sent books because you wanted me to think of you. And you’ve stayed away because you thought of me too much. This situation is driving me crazy, Namjoon, and I just want to feel sane again. If we’re going to break up, we need to break. No books. No days of you following me around. Only silence. Allow us both to heal...but...but if you say I’m tormenting you...if the thought of me and our relationship haunts you...and you want to make things right...you have to do it properly. You can’t push me aside again.” 

“Music is my first love,” he acknowledged. “But that doesn’t mean I have to love you any less. I just have to learn to balance. You are so incredibly important to me...I thought maybe...maybe you’d think I was insane for sending books...for keeping an eye on you-“ 

“Well, it’s not exactly the most comforting thought.” you admitted. “I don’t want you infatuated with me, I want to see you passionate about me...there is a difference. And what this is...right now...is a stark contrast from what we both need.” 

“And I know that,” he continued. “And I needed to get your attention and this was the only way I felt comfortable enough to go about it. I’m a creep and I’m a coward, but I love you, Y/N. With my whole heart. And I just want you to say you’ll give me a second chance” 

You tilted your head and chewed absently on your lip, searching Namjoon’s face for some sign of change, a visual representation of hope for the future. His eyes begged. His fingers clenched and unclenched around the fabric he held so desperately to. He was even more broken than the last time you had seen him, but he was trying to pick up the pieces. 

“I want you,” he whispered. “One person shouldn’t need another. Codependency is unhealthy and irresponsible in a relationship and I won’t say I do. I don’t need you, but I want you with every part of me. I want you so badly that it makes my bones ache and my heart feel as if it’s suffocating. I want you so terribly, but I don’t need you. You aren’t air and you aren’t water, but your one of life’s greatest pleasures and I’d be privileged if you wanted me too. If you decide I don’t deserve a second chance, I’ll live on, I’ll respect your decision, but I’ll reflect on my mistakes until I can’t reflect anymore. Just please...please say you want me too.” 

With trembling fingers, you lifted your palm, setting your fingertips on the edges of his cheek. Nuzzling into your hand, he took a deep breath in before letting out a stuttering breath. Looking at you cautiously, he waited in silence for your reply. 

“Do I still get books?” you whispered, a smile eating at the corner of your lips.

“As many as you request,” he croaked. 

“Will you still worry? Wonder about what trouble I’ve gotten myself into?” You continued. 

“Constantly, but I won’t have to wonder because I can just ask,” he answered. 

“And will you love me as completely as you promise? Allow me to respect your career, but also respect me in return?” 

“I swear it.” 

Waiting a moment, you allowed a few breaths to interchange between the two of you, both of your thought processes near audible with how much they were spinning 

“Then it looks like you’ve gotten yourself a second chance,” you finally managed. “But don’t expect a third.” 

“I won’t need it,” he smiled confidently. “After all, what would I be without you?”

The smirk you had been holding back now visibly tugged at your mouth as you stood on your tiptoes. Pressing your lips against his, you allowed him a kiss you had been holding in your heart for months, always intended for him, but just simply waiting. He kissed back with enthusiasm, expressing every feeling he had just verbalized with each tender touch. Snaking his free hand around your waist, he pulled you in as close as he could, careful to keep the umbrella shielding you from raindrops. He tasted just as you had remembered, mint with a hint of spice. Setting a spark of electricity down your throat and into your gut, his actions gave a rebirth to every emotion you had ever felt toward him. He cared so immensely and had intended on showing it to you with every little kiss. You pulled your lips from his and let a grin settle on the place where his love had just been pressed. 

“Well...without me...I guess you’d just be a man with too many books.”

Goodnight, sleep well. Stay safe and take care of yourself. You’re stronger than the intrusive thoughts. Giving in is what makes you a coward, not seizing. I was an example of a coward in my younger days, and I promise giving in only makes you hate yourself more. More imperfections on ur body to look at. Mental illness doesn’t knock at reason and a good childhood is not everything in life, though it’s a great foundation. Trauma is only 1 cause of mental illness. Unfortunately, we don’t choose the brain we are born with. That’s the main cause of our suffering, not our upbringing. You have reason to feel everything you feel, to think what you think. That reason is humanity. We are human and we are imperfect with means to be perfect, and I feel that’s half the problem. I promise even the healthiest people have the darkest thoughts. Though not quite like ours, still equivalent. Only our neurotransmitters are half empty unless we do drugs 😂. I’m sorry if I’m out of line but when I saw that post I kept rereading to keep myself from messaging you on the spot. And since that sounded like another goodbye, I had to get it out. Physically, you may never be apart of my life again, but I always want you here, in this life, with me. please stay - two: october 2016

Debra doesn't know who Harry Styles is if it isn't because of Lola. Though they tend to have classes in the same building, Debra isn't the type who lets her eyes wander and watches people. She's the type who actually doesn't mingle in the building too long once her classes are done. She prefers to wait outside, sitting on one of the benches on the green space near the library than waits in the crowded hallway with a bunch of people around her.

Besides, she’s given up on trying to find a boyfriend. She thinks she just can’t find her match with one of the guys on campus, and she figures she’ll just focus on her studies and wait until the right time. That is definitely one of the factors why she never really pays attention to any guys anymore, and another factor is that the last relationship she had—it was last year—only lasted about three months. So, yeah, she thinks now is not the right time to be in a relationship.

So, when one of Harry's classmates, Lola asks for her number on a particularly busy afternoon, Debra furrows her eyebrows and looks at Lola weird. "Harry who?" Debra asks with arms full of rolled up flyers.

"Harry Styles. He's my classmate. You probably recognize him from the footie match last year," Lola says casually.

Debra distinctly remembers that there's a Harry Styles requesting to follow her on Instagram a few nights ago—she was scrolling through her phone aimlessly while singing along to Kodaline songs when she saw it. She accepted that request and followed him back without thinking much further, though she didn't actually know who he is. But some of her mates followed him as well, so she thought there's no harm in following him back. She realized that he didn’t seem like the type who posted a picture on daily basis, so she’s good.

"He followed me on Instagram a few days ago actually, but-"

"You followed him back, right?" Lola cuts, before Debra can finish her words. She nods anyway, "That's good! You know, he kinda takes a liking at you. Thought you're cute and he wants to know you better. That's why I'm here to get your mobile number. ‘s that alright?"

To say Debra is taken aback by those words is an understatement. She's confused as to why Lola is the one who asks for her number, not Harry himself. Is the guy that much a coward or is he simply gone to do other things? Why is Lola doing his dirty work? There are so many things she wants to ask, and she is going to, if her friend, Poppy isn't nudging her and telling her to hurry.

"Deb, just give her your number. We need to get going. Niall is waiting for us. C'mon." Poppy taps her feet impatiently on the ground, causing Debra to groan inwardly. Lola smiles at Poppy's words and opens up her contact to add Debra's number as Debra recites her mobile number carefully.

"'kay! Thanks a bunch, Deb!" with that, Lola walks away with an easy smile and a promise to let Harry know that Debra is such a sweetheart for giving her mobile number. Debra watches Lola walk away with a racing heartbeat and sweaty palms, not knowing what she's just gotten herself into. It has been a while since she found that a guy took a liking at her, and Harry could be a creep for all she knows—like Nolan from fresher's week—and she curses herself for giving into the pressure easily. She could’ve asked a question or two about this Harry guy to Lola, but she guessed the chance is now thrown out of the window.

All of this reminds her of what happened back in high school—when her friend's boyfriend asked for her number because his friend wanted to get her know better. She was also too easy to give into the pressure and in the end, she got her heart broken. It was all so messy, and she wasn't in a good place for a few months—even her parents noticed that, and that's saying a lot because her parents are usually pretty laid back about this kind of stuff.

Shivers run on her spine at the memories, and sweats break out on her temple once she realizes that she probably just made another wrong move.

"Deb! C'mon!" Poppy's voice stops her train of thoughts, and Debra shakes her head faintly to clear her head and focus again at her previous task.

"Right. Okay. Let's go." Bouncing the rolled up flyers in her arms once more, she walks from the library to the parking lot where Niall is waiting for them by his beat-up Honda.

Debra likes to think she's good at studying. Genuinely, she likes the process of clearing a space on her desk to set up her stuff—turning her laptop on, placing her notes strategically near her laptop, using her favorite gel pen to write, and listening to her study playlist that is full of instrumental songs. Also, there's something about the calmness and peacefulness she feels before she starts the whole process that motivates her to get it done. As weird as it may sound, she enjoys studying.

It’s a bit odd that she can't find herself focused on the task at hand when she needs to get at least a thing done that night—she starts sweating at the thought of her mounting coursework for the next week. It's probably because of her noisy neighbors—the freshmen that just moved to the flat right next to her last week—or the overwhelming temptation to keep checking her phone every few seconds. It's driving her mental, but she still forces herself to do her coursework anyway.

It's not even two hours later—and she's not even halfway done with her coursework—when her phone vibrates from beside her. She glances at her phone, reading the text pop-up with furrowed eyebrows. It's a text from the number she doesn't know. With curiosity bubbling up inside of her, she leans back on her seat and grabs her phone, her thumb swiping on the screen to open the text.

Hey, Debra. It's me, Harry. Wanna ask you if Louis and the others are joining the footie competition next month?

Debra frowns. Why would Harry ask about the footie competition to her? She doesn't even know there's a footie competition next month.

Have u asked Louis about it? Bcs I don't know either

Letting out a huff, she locks her phone and places it back on the desk. To bring her focus back on her coursework, Debra takes a few deep breathes and sits up straighter. But just as she's about to get back on writing, her phone vibrates again.

Not really no. Have you got his contacts?

She sends Louis' contact and hopes that he would stop texting her for a while, but when her phone vibrates again, she realizes that this won't stop anytime sooner. So, she keeps responding his texts and replies it as short as she can to let him know implicitly that she's not really up for any kind of socializing with anyone. But even if Harry gets the message, he doesn't show it because he's persistent. And the next thing she knows, it's almost midnight and she's nowhere done with her essay.

Annoyed at herself for letting it get too far, she pushes back her chair and gets up to move to her bed. Ignoring Harry's latest text, she pulls up her contacts and dials Poppy's number.

"How are you not asleep yet? It's midnight." Those are Poppy's words when she answers the phone. All of her close friends know that Debra can't sleep later than midnight. She's an early sleeper and an early riser as well. If she falls asleep later than midnight, it will mess her schedule up and put her in a bad mood, which will put a damper on everyone's mood because she will annoy the shit out of them all day.

"Harry's been texting me since, like, hours ago," Debra confesses in a small voice. Letting the words out of her mouth just makes it more real and she hates how she wasted hours just texting a guy. She rolls on her stomach and buries her face in her pillow.

"Harry who?" she grunts at her friend's question.

"Harry Styles. Lola asked my number a few days ago to give it to him, remember? She said he liked me or something." Poppy lets out a hum from the other line. "'s that it? You're not gonna say anything?"

"Dunno what I'm supposed to say, to be honest. Just let it flow for a while, yeah?" Poppy finally says after a moment.

"Should I tell Penelope?" Once Poppy reassures that it would be best if Debra tells Penelope, they both end the call and Debra is left staring at her ceiling, her mind racing with endless possibilities and outcomes of this Harry thing. She realizes that she isn't supposed to overthink about it, but she always overthinks when any guy shows interest in her.

And maybe, telling Penelope can bring some positive outcomes to the whole situation—though she isn’t sure if there’s a situation—because Penelope was on the student council for 2 years and she actually has friends from other departments. So, maybe, just maybe, she can ask around about Harry and help Debra to get some information about him, because she has no clue at all of him. For all she knows, this guy is as shady as his Instagram page. All of those sunsets and black and white pictures don't really show who he is, and that's bothering her.

Overwhelmed at her own long train of thoughts, she grunts at herself and gets up to get some snack from the kitchen before she could overthink some more—like thinking about going on dates with Harry, seeing each other at campus, and introducing him to her close friends as her boyfriend. It's kind of silly how she already thinks about this when she hasn't even spoken to him face-to-face.

"I got a question for you." Debra looks up from the phone and furrows her eyebrows at Poppy who's sitting across the table with pursed lips and puffed out cheeks like she's thinking hard about this question. "When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? I don't mean, like, being a doctor or something. Like, your first real dream career."

The two girls are waiting for their food at the Chinese restaurant near their flats when Poppy lets out that question—unexpected, but Debra isn't surprised because Poppy always does this kind of things. Debra props an elbow on the table and leans her head on her hand as she mulls over the answer to the question.

"Well," Debra speaks after a moment, "I think I wanted to be a flight attendant, you know? Probably it's because I went to the airport a lot to see my dad at work and lots of planes. And I used to think that it's cool to see all those flight attendants pass by with their uniforms, so probably that's what I wanted to be before my parents told me how dangerous it was and that it's cooler to be a doctor instead." She sits straighter and leans back on her seat, dropping her arms and tapping her fingers on the table impatiently.

Poppy lets out a chuckle and takes a sip of her iced tea. "I still think being a flight attendant is cooler, though. All those traveling and meeting lots of new people intrigue me."

"Says the extrovert one," Debra teases. "And let me guess, you wanted to be an astronaut, right?"

Poppy nods. "Yup, even my old e-mail address is based on that. How silly."

They put a pause on their conversation when the waiter comes back with their food. The steam from the fried mixed vegetable and fried rice are so mouthwatering and make the food look tastier than it actually is. It seems like the food put them in a trace so they both just stare it for a while as the waiter place the food on their table.

A ding pulls Debra back from the trance she got in because of the food—as weird as it may sound—and she reluctantly grabs her phone from her bag. And she wishes she didn't just look at her screen because she just receives a text from Harry—again. She can see the message from the pop-up, but she decides not to read it now. She'd like to focus on the food splayed in front of her for now.

"Who is it?" Poppy asks as she grabs two pairs of chopsticks and passes Debra one. They both grab a tissue to clean it—just to make sure that it is clean—before finally devouring their foods.

"Harry," she answers shortly, causing Poppy to look up and stare at her for a few seconds. "Strangely, we've been texting for days now. I'll tell you later over ice cream. For now, let's eat." That's enough to close the lid on the conversation about Harry for a while. Though Debra can't literally wait to tell Poppy all about it—though it's nothing much because she hasn't seen Harry around campus and really talked to him—she has to wait because the food is better when it's hot and she’s sure that not even a guy (i.e. Harry Styles) will get in between her and her food.
