#tfatws ep 6

So now that Marvel has announced Cap4 and Thunderbolts for a 2024 release and assuming Bucky will feature in both, I guess Seb will be busy filming for Marvel pretty much all of next year. I really hope he has time for one more project this year before filming starts. I really want something fun with him in it and don't want to wait for 2 years for it.
Well, first we’ll have to see if he’s actually in both of those (although I agree he probably will be), but even then, I don’t think filming those two movies would take up most of his year. He’s not a lead in either, as far as I understand it, and although I know TFATWS took a long time to film, that was a 6 (?) ep show in which he was one of the leads. Filming a supporting role in these movies shouldn’t take up most of his year (besides, knowing Marvel they’d probably try and keep Bucky’s screentime under 15 mins or whatever it was so that they can classify it as a cameo 🙄 I don't actually know how that works though so this is mostly just me being salty lol)
Also, although I know Sebastian might have no choice but to fulfill whatever contract he may still have with Marvel, I think it wouldn’t make sense for him to just do Marvel in 2023. He’s got the Emmy’s momentum now and I feel like he’ll be looking for roles and projects that will allow him to explore new things that he might not have otherwise gotten the opportunity to explore, and things that will propel his career forward instead of keeping it stationary with more of the same old stuff. Knowing Seb, even if he has signed on to those two Marvel things and will be filming them in 2023, he’ll do his very best to also do something very different alongside that, both for his career and to satisfy his creative appetites! But again, we’ll have to wait and see 🤷🏻‍♀️

I get that you hated tftaws and you've got valid reasons but don't you think people should be allowed to like it? What's so wrong with loving tfatws?
Hi, anon. Okay, I know it probably seems like it, but I didn’t hate the show completely lol. I enjoyed episode one, minus a couple of things, and thought parts of ep 5 and ep 6 were fine. I was also glad we got to see Isaiah and Eli, and Carl Lumbly acted the hell out of his role. However, I maintain that Spellman and Co couldn’t possibly like or respect Sam, and I think they did not have the range to tackle racism.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with people loving TFATWS. If you notice, when someone makes a post praising the show, I don’t generally hop on it and reblog it adding my own opinions or tags that shit all over the show; instead, I usually make my own posts talking about how I feel about it. Anyone can like any show they want… just like I can have negative opinions about any show I want. I have mutuals who enjoyed the show, and we’re cool lol, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to point out the things I didn’t like about it.
(I will admit though, that when people see absolutely nothing wrong with the show, I give them the side eye… I can’t help it lol, but I acknowledge that there’s a big difference between just liking the show and thinking there’s nothing wrong with the show at all…)
Listen, I like plenty of stuff that people don’t, so I get it… I’m just kind of sensitive about Sam I suppose lol. My intentions aren’t to come off mean or anything though

Here’s the full casting grid, btw. Posted on Jan 5. There was another grid posted on Aug 13 for 2 Guyanese characters, so at that point they were still actively casting. Breaking paywall here, but they also stated in their discord that day that Warner was pausing production on things that were in pre-production, but didn’t actually name anything. This could be what prompted that comment, but since then the charity thing (which states Sept 26 shoot date) was posted. So who knows. Just proof that his name was at one point attached 🥲 and a reminder that he has worked with him before - he was in Logan Lucky in a small role, and was cast in No Sudden Move but had to drop out because of TFATWS. So it’s not out there that he’d try and work with him again.

Bucky really went from a cranky scowling old man who never smiles to that Cool (gay) uncle who pulls up 2 hours late to the family cookout with sunglasses, cake and level 100 swagger

The ending was canon sambucky in my opinion because bucky was being the cool uncle and then he touched Sam's shoulder to which sam smiled gently and then they walk away together with Sam's hand wrapped around Bucky while a love song plays in background. Also, Bucky was wearing Sam's shirt from previous episode. If you don't say this isn't canon then I don't know what to tell you.

I absolutely love that the very idea of Bucky and Sarah being together is more than enough to give Sam a headache xD
I think I read somewhere, if I remember right, that since - according to Marvel.com - Bucky is part of the Wilson family now (have I mentioned how much I love the ‘found family’ trope?), his dynamic with them will certainly be different.
I mean, sure, I believe that Sam and Bucky have reached a point in their interpersonal relationship where they truly love each other as not just real friends, but also brothers and family too. They trust each other, work together, fix a boat together, train together, talk together, fight together. There’s even this behind-the-scenes video somewhere, where Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie agree that there is no Bucky without Sam, and no Sam without Bucky. Now that Bucky, for all intents and purposes, is an honorary Wilson and part of Sam’s family, how might things change between Sam and Bucky as friends, brothers, and family? I don’t think that their familial closeness might change, but I’ve got a feeling something else might, and I can’t quite put words to it yet what that something would be.
I also believe that Cass and AJ absolutely adore Bucky. They were having such a blast not just throwing playful air punches at Bucky when he arrived at the cookout but also having the time of their lives hanging from his vibranium arm. This familiarity that Cass, AJ, and Bucky have with each other is freakin’ adorable and such a god-damned pleasure to watch, not just because is this the happiest we’ve ever seen Bucky, it’s pretty clear that Cass and AJ really enjoy having Bucky around. I’ve seen a post somewhere that talks about that scene with Bucky and the Wilson kids that explains how Bucky would’ve had to spend a considerable amount of time with the Wilsons for the two young boys to easily run up to Bucky and play fight with him, and for Bucky to respond in kind by dodging and pretending to react. I agree! It doesn’t say how much time has lapsed between Bucky finishing up his booklet and him coming down to Delacroix. Maybe once he tied up his loose ends, he made at least one or two more visits, that maybe lasted a week? I don’t know. Even the boat needs fixing too, y’know.
Regardless, the fact that it’s more than likely that Bucky spent enough time at the Wilson’s for Cass and AJ to form a familial bond with him leads us right to who else but the one and only Sarah Wilson. Yes, we’ve seen Bucky introduce himself to Sarah with what I think is half as much charm as his formerly unapologetically flirtatious self had back in the 40s, leaving Sarah smiling so brightly even Sam could see whatever it was between his sister and his friend. Bucky’s a different guy in 2023 (2024?), given all that he’s been through, so perhaps he’s longing to rediscover, through rusted but ever-present memories, what it’s like to flirt the way he used to when he was seventeen. Seeing such a beautiful, smart, hardworking, and independent woman like Sarah (honestly, there’s so many more good things to say about her) was kind of like a daybreak for him, a kind of beautiful and charming dawn that’s almost as warm as the humid air of Delacroix, Louisiana, heated by the morning sun’s golden glow when he’s walking to the docks the next morning to help Sam after meeting Sarah the day before. The warm and comfortable feeling that Bucky would be left with after confronting his demons and coming to peace with his past, and accepting his new family (who in all likelihood have already accepted him as one of their own), would be heating up to furnace-like temperatures, nine whole years after trying to eliminate Sam, Steve, and Natasha when Bucky was anything but himself as the ice-cold Winter Soldier. In the present, Bucky is a benign individual around the Wilsons. He would never do anything that would hurt Sam, Cass, AJ, or even Sarah, because to return to the Wilsons time and time again, going on missions with Sam, playing with the two kids, or even just flirting with Sarah, is a homecoming for Bucky. He is becoming who he once was, and he’s happy to be home, metaphorically speaking or literally. The Wilsons are his home as much as their actual home is like a safe place he can call home. Around the Wilsons, Bucky feels whole once more, at one with himself.
