Unwanted: Chapter 4, Unwelcome - Pt. 2
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Avenger!Fem!Reader
Summary: When your FWB relationship with your best friend Bucky Barnes turns into something more, you couldn’t be happier. That is, however, until a new Avenger sets her sights on your super soldier and he inadvertently breaks your heart. You take on a mission you might not be prepared for to put some distance between the two of you and open yourself up to past traumas. Too bad the only one who can help you heal is the one person you can no longer trust.
Warnings: (For this part only; see Story Masterlist for general Warnings) Language, mentions of sex, hints of jealousy, some slight self-deprecation.
Word Count: 1.7k
Previously On...: Now that you and Bucky are officially FWB, you couldn't keep your hands off one another, which obviously meant having fantastic sex in your office.
A/N: And it's time to finally introduce our antagonist! Sort of! Although, I guess you could say the real antagonism is the angst and anxiety we meet along the way. Chapter 11 is coming along very nicely, hence a posting today. I hope you enjoy!

"You're both so codependent," Nat said to the two of you one evening a few months later as you all sat gathered around in the common room after dinner. It was a rare occurrence where no one was away on a mission and everyone was Earth-side. The space was crowded, so naturally Bucky had offered you his lap, theoretically in order to open up some seating for everyone else. Aside from the two of you and Nat, there was Wanda and Vision, Steve and Sam, Clint, Thor, Tony and Pepper, Bruce, and Rhodey. Your perfectly imperfect found family. The only one who was missing was young Peter Parker, but it was a school night and Tony tried to make sure the kid had his priorities in order.
"No we're not," you and Bucky said in unison, which made everyone else either laugh or groan. You glanced up at him with a smile and then back to the others. "What can we say? We just really enjoy the benefits of our friendship."
Bucky let out a cough into his hand that sounded a lot like "Be cool, damn."
"How come you never volunteer to sit in my lap?" Steve asked with an exaggerated pout.
"Do you want me to get up, Star-Spangled Man?" you ribbed as you feigned moving out of Bucky's lap. "You can have him all to yourself." Bucky squeezed your waist in warning, holding you down against him. You knew that if you got up now, you'd be exposing everyone to the erection that had been rubbing against your backside all evening. Fortunately, Steve wasn't one to take such a joke very far.
"No, it's fine. I can tell when I've been replaced," he teased, though his smile didn't necessarily reach his eyes. You and Bucky weren't necessarily hiding the fact that you'd started having sex from everyone, but you sure as shit weren't shouting it from the rooftops. There would be far too many 'I told you so's or 'about damn time's for your liking, not to mention everyone asking 'what's the next step?,' so it was something you kept to yourselves. Besides, you both decided that the secret aspect of sneaking around made it so much fucking hotter.
"Good, you're all here," said Tony, breaking through the levity with a serious tone, "since we're all together for once, there's something we need to discuss."
All eyes turned to him. Usually, a serious Tony meant a global-threatening event, but things on the world-saving front had been fairly quiet recently, so you were all curious to see what he had to say.
"As you're no doubt well aware, because most of you aren't complete morons, there are more and more enhanced individuals coming out of the woodwork, and not all of them are identifying as friendlies. I know we've already got a great team here, but Fury thinks we could be better."
"Pretty strong opinion for a man who just sits around watching and talking," Clint offered from his position on the couch next to Nat where he was re-stringing one of his bows.
"Don't disagree, Barton," Tony continued, "but Fury's good graces and government approval are the reason we keep getting to do what we do. He wants us to expand."
"What, open up a West Coast Avengers second location?" Bruce asked with a laugh.
"He wants us to consider taking on some more members," Tony said. "Expand our capabilities. I was able to negotiate it down to one."
"Do we have a say in the matter, or has he already made the choice for us?" Natasha asked warily. Like you, the Avengers were the only real family she'd ever known, and like you, she was highly uncomfortable with the idea of allowing just anyone to join it.
"He's made some... suggestions," Tony said, holding up a stack of thick folders, "but the final decision is ours to make."
"Well, I say we stick with known quantities," Sam offered. "Like Tic-Tac. He proved himself in Berlin."
"Nah, Scott Lang's not a viable option," you interjected thoughtfully. "Maybe as a reserve or something, but not a full-blown member." At Sam's questioning look, you elaborated. "His daughter's young, and he doesn't have custody. He's not going to move across the country and leave her in San Francisco. Not for us, especially after being apart from her while he was in prison."
"Same's going to go for T'Challa," Nat agreed. "His priority is always going to be Wakanda, he won't give that up, nor should we expect him to."
"We could always invite my brother Loki to join us," said Thor with a grin. "He's quite skilled," he paused for a moment to think his statement through. "Though he is completely untrustworthy and could very well try to murder us all, so perhaps not. But what a humorous situation that would have made!" The eye rolls from around the room proved that, no, it would not have made a humorous situation at all.
"I wish Pietro were still here; he would be magnificent. A perfect addition," Wanda said wistfully, and you reached over to squeeze her hand. She'd done so much healing since her brother had died in the crossfire of the battle with Ultron, but you couldn't imagine the lingering pain losing a twin must keep her in. She gave you a grateful look as she returned your squeeze.
"Well, who else do we know that we'd actually trust enough to ask?" Rhodey posited. The ensuing silence spoke volumes.
"Natty, what about your sister?" you suggested. "You think Yelena would be interested? It wouldn't suck to have another trained Widow on the team. Plus, she makes me laugh, which, you know, absolutely crucial Avenger requirement."
Nat looked thoughtful. "I don't know if it would be her thing, but I could reach out; wouldn't hurt to ask. But I wouldn't get our hopes up; she's pretty dedicated to helping all the former Widows right now."
"Swell," said Tony with an eye roll, making a note on a piece of paper inside his folder. "That's one, maybe. But probably not."
"Well, what options did Fury send over?" Rhodey asked him.
Tony began handing out folders to everyone. Each page contained a brief bio of an enhanced individual Fury had vetted and thought might make a good addition to the team. He handed you a folder, then made to hand another to Bucky.
"I'll share with Pocket," he said.
"Of course you will," Tony said with a shake of his head. "You sharing your balls with her, too, Barnes?" You stuck your tongue out at him. "Nice, Pocket. The pinnacle of maturity," Tony muttered as he moved on toward Bruce.
"Not just your balls," you whispered into Bucky's ear, giving his cock a discreet squeeze. He did his best not to moan out loud at your touch.
"You are going to pay for that," he whispered, causing you to laugh.
"Why don't we take a look at these profiles?" Steve interjected with a cough, waving a folder in the air. Everyone began leafing through their packets. The room was silent, save for the shuffling of paper.
"Wait, here's someone we should definitely consider," Bucky said after a long moment, freezing everyone's attention. He held up a sheet of paper with a picture stapled to it.
You leaned over to get a better look and immediately felt an odd sensation deep inside as your eyes focused on the woman in question: Jade Carthage, code-named 'Vixen'. She had long black hair cascading down her back and vibrant emerald green eyes that, in your opinion, looked cold and calculating. She was absolutely stunning.
"Let's see..." you began reading out loud, "she's the only survivor of a secret Hydra super soldier facility. Looks like they gave her a relatively successful version of the serum, but she single-handedly destroyed their base before it could be replicated and defected to S.H.I.E.L.D. Damn; that's really impressive. Enhanced strength, regenerative capabilities, trained in various forms of martial arts..." While reading about her powers and skills, you couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of jealousy over your own lack of superhero abilities. It was a gentle though bitter reminder that, though you may be able to play in the Avengers' world, you'd never really be one of them.
"She seems..." Bucky said, almost reverently, letting the rest of his thought hang in the air. "We should definitely meet her." You weren't sure why, but the tone of his voice left your stomach feeling sour.
"Well, she certainly seems interesting," Tony said, perusing the profile, "but I'm not sure she'd be a good fit for the team; I'm not seeing anything unique she can bring us that we don't already have on tap, and I'd want to know why she was the base's sole survivor. What happened to the rest of the subjects? We'll have to look into her more closely before we consider inviting her."
"I think it would be a mistake not to at least meet her," Bucky said, his gaze still locked on Jade's picture. "You can't just walk out of a Hydra base, especially when they value you as an asset. She's got to be good at what she does."
The others seemed to agree with Bucky's assessment after reviewing Jade's sheet. The general consensus seemed to be in favor of inviting Jade in for a more in-depth interview and meet and greet before making further decisions. You weren't sure how you felt about it, but you kept your discomfort to yourself. After all, she could definitely be an asset to the team if they chose to make her an offer, and if she chose to accept, of course. Those were two big ifs that might amount to nothing. And really, when it came down to it, your opinion didn't matter. You weren't actually an Avenger. You were just... Avenger-adjacent. Shaking your head, you attempted to disperse the negative thought. It was a term you'd used to refer to yourself when you were feeling less than your friends, when you were being hard on yourself. You hadn't used it in a while, and you weren't about to let yourself spiral down the familiar path of self-loathing... at least, not just yet.

You had officially fallen into Yeosang as he rode you back to the camp. He had stopped by the hotel to gather the others before they all rushed out to check on you. When they saw how tired you look, shaking each time a hiccup would rack through your body, they all chose it would be best to take a rest back at camp.
When the others saw you, they all sighed to themselves, knowing things probably hadn’t gone the best back at home. There were all one edge the moment you left them with the worry on your face. They weren’t expecting the best, but they also didn’t think you’d return them looking like you weren’t able to move.
“Doll. Hey, it's okay.” Mingi soothed, carrying you down from Yeosang’s horse. He held you tightly to his chest.
“No it's not. It's not okay.” You whispered out, trying your best to cling to Mingi’s body.
He took you to Jongho’s tent, where the man had the most comfortable bedroll due to his injury. While he was able to walk on it now with crutches, he still spent the majority of the day resting.
“What's wrong?” Hongjoong asked, with furrowed eyebrows. “What happened, Yeosang?” He turned to the boy who had brought you.
All the others turned to listen in as well, wanting to hear the entirety of the problem. They knew at that point that it must have been something big, judging from the cut on Yeosang’s lip. The boy hadn’t gotten the chance to wipe it clean, but it stopped bleeding at that point.
“I don't know.” Yeosang sighed. “I heard yelling when I was coming back and saw her run out. Her father was trying to pull her back in, but she yelled for me.”
Yeosang looked away from the boys, glancing towards your body curling up next to Jongho who made room for you. The younger boy was quick to place his arm under your head, one arm moving to rub at your own.
Mingi took up the spot behind you, he himself felt pathetic. He was reminded of the attack you had the night he saved you. He felt like he couldn’t help you much now, exactly how he felt back then. Not only that, but he knew you didn’t ask for anything else other than just his arms around you, so he wanted to at least give you something to feel other than the nerves moving through your body.
“I'm assuming her talk didn't go so well.” San spoke, sitting down next to Jongho.
“Come here.” Seonghwa told Yeosang, pulling on his arm. “Let me clean up your lip.”
Seonghwa pulled the boy outside the tent, allowing him to follow to the main tent, where they had most of the supplies. San turned back to you, rubbing at your legs to get your feeling back. It seemed to have helped, as the last of your hiccups took a while to come back. Though you had stopped crying and could move your limbs normally, you still felt sluggish.
“Darling.” San quietly called. “Have you calmed down?” You shook your head, moving from Jongho’s side in order to have room to allow all the bad energy to flow out.
“That's wonderful.” San smiled, causing one to softly form on your lips. “It's okay. We aren't gonna pry until you're ready.” He told you, still giving you a message.
Seonghwa and Yeosang had entered once more, the younger man having the blood cleaned from the mouth finally. Seonghwa had put some ointment on it to have it heal faster. When Yeosang saw you uncurled from your fetal position, he sighed out in relief. Looking over the boys, he frowned as he thought about what had just happened.
“There's something I need to tell you.” He spoke to Hongjoong. The blue haired man turned around, waiting for Yeosang to continue. “I asked for her hand in marriage.”
They all froze as Yeosang’s words caught in their ears.
“What?” Almost every one had said.
“I know we talked about this, but we didn't say anything about marrying her!?” Wooyoung cried out. “Are you going back on this whole thing? Do you want to keep her to yourself?” He pointed his finger at Yeosang.
“Wooyoung, will you be quiet!” Yeosang scolded. “Her parents thought she was a prostitute.” He sighed, looking down. “I'm positive that's what this entire thing was about. I was so angry that they would assume something like that of her. So I just told them I asked for her hand in marriage to keep them from thinking she's with multiple men.”
You sat up from your spot, feeling the two boys at your side get up behind you as well. You could feel Mingi’s arm around the front of your waist, rubbing his thumb into your side. You could see how all the boys seemed to have dark looks wash over their face at the mention of what your parents had done. San’s finger squeezed your leg in reassurance, his lips pulling up to show he was on your side.
There was a heaviness you knew was there due to how heavy the words Yeosang spoke were. All of you knew the struggle of coming to terms with how you felt about all of them. Heck, they hadn’t even spoken about it with you. They had no clue if you were going to be willing completely to everything.
They knew all that you had spoken to with some of them–knew what you had done. But that didn’t mean you felt the same about all of them. Even if you expressed you meant all of them, each feel you had for them might be different from the next.
Hongjoong sighed, though, shaking his head. “Yeosang, it's her family and we have to respect whatever it is she chooses.” You turned to the man, frowning. “Having this kind of relationship isn't easy, especially not for women.”
You played with your fingers as you listened to what he had to say.
“If she wants to please her family, then we have to accept that. We can't just come up with her choice.” He spoke.
Your head immediately whipped up, speaking before thinking. “I'll choose you guys.”
“Angel-” Yunho sighed.
“I don't want to be a wife to someone who wants to keep me in a house or tell me to be quiet.” You started. You sighed deeply as you looked between all of them.
“I grew up with people always telling me what I did and thought wasn't right. That I was meant to be a housewife who took care of children and kept her husband happy.” You pulled your legs to cross them, placing a hand on Mingi’s to keep it there.
He gave you comfort–they all did. And you wanted them to know that.
“It was what I was thinking was going to happen to me for the longest time. But then you guys came into town after a fight with criminals, and things just changed completely.” You began to smile, lip trembling as you thought about that first night you actually spoke them like friends.
“I knew I wasn't meant to be stuck in a house. I was meant for so much more than that. I want to explore so many things and see the world. That's what I really want. And it was all of you who made me realize that.” Each of them started smiling at your words, some of them blushing and looking flustered.
“My father was going to send me to Aurora to some kind of big group that would help me to become the perfect wife.” You finally told them. “I don't want to go.” You whispered, looking down.
You felt Mingi tighten his hold on your waist. San gave your leg a squeeze as well. Jongho moved to intertwine his fingers with yours. You gave them all a smile, turning to look at the boys in front of you.
Wooyoung had a large grin on his face as his cheeks looked red. Seonghwa and Yunho both gave you soft looks, while Yeosang crossed his arms, nodding his head towards you.
Hongjoong crouched down in front of you, moving to rub your cheek with his thumb. “You won't go, Princess.” He assured you. “We won't let you.”
Thank you.” You whispered to him, a blush blooming on your cheeks. It made Hongjoong grin, giving your cheek another stroke.
“What happens now?” San asked from Hongjoong’s side.
“I guess Yeosang has to get hitched.” Wooyoung cackled, harshly patting the boy on the back.
You watched as Hongjoong stood up, his grin pulling over his teeth. He turned to face Yeosang, who raised a brow.
“Congratulations.” He laughed.

You weren’t expecting anything much, but a simple ‘welcome home’ or ‘hello’ would of been enough to suffice. But clearly that was too much for him now.
Ever since Masons injury and subsequent surgery he’d been down in the dumps. You got it, of course you did, and you let him wallow for as long as you thought acceptable yet when you tried cheering him up a bit he no longer seemed interested.
He was quiet, never seeming to want to come out of his shell too much anymore and no matter how much you tried, he didn’t want to budge.
You left him at first since it was just him being quiet, but when he started to pull back from you physically then you started to get worried. Mason was a cuddle monster and always loved to have his hands on you so in the beginning when this was still the case you were fine but as the weeks passed he was beginning to keep to himself. No longer wanting to hold you or keep your hand in his. You knew something was really wrong when he pushed you off gently as you tried to give him head scratches in hopes of getting him to relax into you but if anything he moved further away.
You tried waiting, letting him come to you when he was ready so you didn’t overwhelm him but he never did anymore. Choosing to keep it all inside or talk to one of the boys.
You tried not to take offence to it though, telling yourself he was like it with everyone not just you however when you got back from work one night to find a house full of boys and Mason looking happier than you’d seen him it weeks you couldn’t deny it stung a little bit. Especially when Mason didn’t even acknowledge your existence. You kept yourself out of the way, eating dinner in the cinema room and by the time you went to bed Mason was already fast asleep.
Mason was healing up nicely, but you figured he’d gotten used to you tidying up after him and with all the underlying tension you were feeling you didn’t say anything. Silently picking up after him and making sure the house was spotless. Not that it should of bothered you too much, it’s not like he’d asked you to move in with him yet but you’d both discussed you spending more time here and asides from the occasional night here and there you spent most of your time living with Mason. Hence why you wanted to keep the place tidy but he seemed content living in a mess unless you sorted it out.
That’s how it went for the next week or so, you coming home to a house full of people and Mason not so much as batting an eye in your direction. You were eating alone in the kitchen one night when he came in and your heart stopped, wondering if he would say anything but he simply got a glass from the cupboard and left again. Leaving you to tidy up all the take away wrappers and bottles that littered the room.
Chilly walked in a little while after, a sad smile on his face as he stood opposite you and you tried to muster one back to make it look like you were okay but he saw right through you. ‘You okay in here? I know we’ve been around a lot lately but if it’s too much we can go. I know he’s been a bit of a grump lately, he’s been the same in training so I’m a bit surprised he wanted to hang out. I thought some company might do him good’
‘Don’t be silly, it’s Masons house so it’s up to him’
‘Well you live here too’
‘Not officially’ you winked and he looked at you sympathetically. ‘It’s fine, honestly. He clearly prefers your company to mine right now’
‘It’s not that, y/n-‘
‘I’m gonna head up to bed, I’ve got a long day tomorrow’ you smiled, cutting him off as you didn’t think you could take anymore of his kindness. That didn’t stop him from pulling you into a hug and you felt your eyes burn at the feel of someone’s arms around you.
‘I’ll have a word with him’
‘There’s no need, honestly’ you smiled but you could tell you sounded emotional so after a quick goodnight to took yourself upstairs. You were in bed soon enough but fell asleep a long time before Mason made his way up to you just like usual.
The next day felt even worse somehow. It was one in the afternoon before he messaged you, letting you know he’d slept in and he would text you later as he had some stuff to do. You didn’t bother replying, knowing you’d see him soon enough and you couldn’t think of anything nice to say to him right now.
You weren’t sure what would be waiting for you at home, hoping for at least a quiet house and in the back of your mind you had the awful thought of skipping out on him all together and going back to your flat but you knew you couldn’t. You were working late today and even though he’d been tough to be around lately you knew he still needed you, well you hoped he did at least, so you took one big deep breath before you opened the front door.
It was dark inside, the only light you could see was coming from the living room and once your coat and bag were tidied away, you followed it to find Mason sat on the sofa, with his face glued to his phone. He didn’t so much as look up at you as you walked in and you bit your lip before clearing your throat.
‘Hi Mason’
‘Hey’ he called, not bothering to look up at you and you waited a beat to see if he would acknowledge you in any other way but once it was clear he wasn’t you made your way into the kitchen, biting your cheek so you wouldn’t let any tears out.
The kitchen was spotless for once and you lost your appetite immediately at the fact there was nothing for you to eat. Usually he would at least leave you something when you got back this late but clearly he’d forgotten how to do that too. Right now all you wanted was your bed so you that’s exactly where you went, walking passed Mason without a word and up the stairs.
You’d been under the covers for about twenty minutes when you heard the door open. You hadn’t been crying but you knew your eyes were watery and your voice would give you away so you pretended to be asleep. That didn’t stop him coming over to you and sitting on the bed behind you, tentatively reaching touch to touch your shoulder.
‘Why are you up here?’ He whispered and you just shrugged your shoulders no wanting to lie to him that you were asleep but not in the mood to speak to him either. ‘You feeling okay?’ He asked and you nodded to let him know you weren’t sick. ‘Do you want me to get you anything to eat?’ He mumbled but you shook your head to let him know you didn’t before you heard him let out a quiet sigh. He didn’t say anything else just placed a quick kiss to your forehead before leaving the room. It was probably the most intimate he’d been with you in a while and you had to use all you’re nerve to keep your emotions inside.
You were upset, not just because this had been going on for weeks but the fact you’d let it get to this point was something you never thought you’d do. You couldn’t remember the last time he’d kissed you properly and sex had been off the table for a while making you wonder if he was getting it from somewhere else.
You hated that you’d had that thought about him, your past bleeding into your future but you didn’t have another explanation at this point in time.
In your mind, he’d given up on you but didn’t have the heart to let you go yet. You weren’t sure how much longer you could put up with his mood before you said something but you were too afraid about what that would mean for the pair of you.
You tried to forget about all of it, drifting in and out of sleep until Mason eventually joined you. This night was different though, him finally cuddling up to you and placing a soft kiss to your shoulder and you bit you lip hard so you wouldn’t cry. Not realising his touch starved you were until you felt his body heat on you but after five minutes or so he was off of you, rolling over to face the other way.
You wondered if Ben had said something to him yesterday, but if he had and this all he was willing to offer you after he knew you were upset then that would break your heart even more. You wanted to reach out and hold him so bad but the fear of rejection kept you rooted to the spot.
He was gone the next morning when you woke up but there was nothing around to make it look like he’d even been there at all in the first place. You didn’t even bother checking your phone and once you’d left for work you’d made the decision that you weren’t going back their tonight.
You didn’t want to let him know though. As petty as it sounded you wanted him to wonder where you were and message you first just so you could feel like you maybe meant something to him.
It felt weird stepping inside your flat knowing you’d be sleeping there tonight. You barely spent time here anymore as you were so used to being at his. When Mason asked you to stay at his more regularly he understood that you still needed your own space and offered to take care of paying for your flat still but you refused. Sometimes it felt like a bit of a waste just having it sit there but for moments like this, when you didn’t feel comfortable at his, you thanked your lucky stars you still had it.
You sat on the sofa, a pizza in the oven that you didn’t really want but you knew you needed to eat something. You didn’t even bother to check your phone as you knew he wouldn’t of texted you and as the hours passed the more alone you felt.
It was around 10:30 that night when you were getting settled in bed that you saw your phone light up, Mason calling and you felt sick at the prospect of talking to him but you knew you couldn’t ignore him.
‘Hello’ you answered shakily and your eyes stung at the sound of his voice.
‘Hey, where are you? It’s getting late’
‘I’m at home’
‘Are you? I’ve just checked every room and I can’t find you anywhere’
‘I meant my house’ you told him and you felt his mood shift through the phone.
‘What? Why are you there?’
‘I just am’
‘Oh…’ he trailed off and you knew if you stayed on the call much longer you’d be crying and you didn’t want him to hear that.
‘Like you said, it’s getting late and I’m tired so I’m gonna go to sleep’
‘Y/n-‘
‘Night’ you interrupted before ending the call and placing it face down so you could ignore anymore calls or texts that might come in. It was all in vein though as when you woke up the next day you saw he hadn’t tried to contact you at all.
The same routine happened for the next two nights, you staying at your flat and him texting you at a silly hour to see where you were. On the friday night you’d just got changed into your pyjamas when there were a few loud knocks on the door. You knew it was him immediately before you’d even answered the it but you still felt the shock roll through you at the sight of him when you eventually did.
He brows were drawn together, his bottom lip in between his teeth as he chewed on it and his eyes looked sad as they flickered over you.
‘Mason? What are you doing here?’
‘Funny, I’ve been wanting to ask you the same question for days’ he said, walking inside suddenly and you shut the door with a gulp before turning to him. He was perched on the arm of your sofa and you cautiously walked towards him and stopped just out of his reach. ‘Are you gonna tell me why you’re here?’
You were flabbergasted by his attitude and lack of self awareness to the point where you couldn’t even speak. He just looked at you with the same angry expression before huffing when you wouldn’t talk.
‘Why won’t you talk to me’
‘You haven’t spoken to me properly in weeks, Mason. This is probably the most you’ve said to me in so long but god forbid I do the same to you. You’ve really hurt me so is it any wonder I don’t want to talk to you?’ you told him, your voice sounding more vulnerable than you wanted it to and your heart broke even more when you realised it hadn’t effected him in any way.
‘What are you talking about? I see you everyday and we talk all the time?’
‘If that’s what you think then fine, but I know how I feel Mason and you’ve completely pushed me away’
‘No I haven’t’
‘You have!’ You cried, getting irate at the way he didn’t seem to care or even notice what he was putting you through. ‘Ever since your surgery I’ve looked after you. I’ve cooked for you, made sure you had everything you needed even when I’ve come home late from work and I didn’t feel like it. I do it cause I love you but it’s like you’ve gotten used to it and you just expect everything to be done for you’
‘I don’t’
‘When was the last time you loaded up the dishwasher? Or made the bed in the morning? Or even did a load of washing? I do it all Mase and it’s not like I’m begging for you to praise me but I don’t get anything from you anymore. I’m supposed to be your girlfriend and not your maid. And it’s not even just that, I don’t remember the last time you kissed me properly let alone anything else’
‘I kiss you all the time’
‘You haven’t in weeks. You don’t tell me you love me anymore, we haven’t had sex in as long as I can remember’
His eyes fell to the floor at this, your words seeming to sink in as he let out a little sigh.
‘Well why didn’t you talk to me? I’m not a mind reader’ he snapped back defensively but it just angered you more.
‘I shouldn’t have to remind you of those things you should want to do it. The fact that you don’t hurts like hell. Every time I looked at you I just felt more alone and I have no idea what I did to make you act this way’
‘I’ve been injured, y/n. I’ve had other things on my mind apart from you and what you need all the bloody time!’ He exploded. ‘You know how stupid I looked the other night? it’s my house, and you basically tell Ben you don’t want them there so they all go. That’s not your decision to make. I choose when people are there not you and I choose when i want all the other crap done. I haven’t asked you to do any of that and if you want it done then fine but that’s your call. You can’t make me do it.’ He ranted, your eyes filling with tears as he tore you to shreds. ‘As for the other stuff, maybe if you showed me an ounce of affection sometimes I might show it back’
You refused to let him carry on like this or show him how upset you were so you walked over to your front door and held it open, signalling you wanted him to leave and lucky for you he got up and walked out without a word.
You bit your lip as you slammed the door, refusing to cry but you couldn’t believe everything he’d just said to you. You had no idea what had gotten into him but this is the last thing you were expecting to come out of his mouth.
Exhausted by everything, you took yourself to bed, AirPods in so you could listen to something and keep your racing thoughts at bay and hopefully get some sleep, wondering if you’d feel better in the morning but Masons words were on repeat in your head.
Tumblr media
It was the next day and you’d seen the text about half an hour ago, debating on what to reply but in the end you thought you may as well tell her the truth knowing she’d find out eventually. You didn’t feel any better about what had happened the previous evening and figured Mason wouldn’t want you anywhere near him today.
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure if you were up for company but you hadn’t seen Soph in a while and you figured it would be good to get a second opinion and validate your feelings a little bit so you agreed, telling her you were at your flat and she promised to be there in the next hour or so.
It took everything in you not to break down in her arms when she pulled you in for a hug and she must of felt it as she held you even tighter and for way longer than she usually did.
‘I bought cake’ she smiled as you pulled apart and you lead her into the kitchen so you could make a tea for you both. ‘Are you okay? What happened?’ She asked softly and you gave her the run down of what’s happened over the last few months. From Mason growing distant to completely shutting you out all together and also mentioning how lazy he’d gotten. You tried to keep a lid on your emotions and for the most part you did, there were no tears just your voice shaking a little bit as Sophia looked back at you with a concerned face.
‘I should be honest with you’ she told you shyly and you gulped down a nervous lump. ‘Mason came over last night for like an hour, him and Kai spoke but I wasn’t sure what it was about ’
‘Oh’ you breathed, wondering what Mason must of said to Kai and who’s side he would of taken. ‘I just don’t know what’s going on. Or what I did’ you sighed, rubbing your forehead as you shut your eyes. ‘He really blew up at me yesterday. Said I can’t make him do what he doesn’t want to and it’s not my place to say things to his friends. It just made me feel super small and like I don’t mean anything to him’
‘Oh love’ she sighed, reaching out to put her hand over yours and you gulped away the tears that were starting to build. ‘I’m sure it’s not as bad as it seems’
‘I don’t know, it all just feels a bit hopeless right now’ you sighed ‘thank you for coming to check on me though’
‘Don’t be silly, you know I would any time’
‘Can we just keep this between us? I’ll speak to Mason soon I just need some time on my own’
‘Of course’ she smiled, her phone ringing soon after before she told you she had to run and go to the game. You didn’t bother watching it or checking the score, choosing to go to bed early and watch a few films to take your mind off of everything. You hadn’t heard a peep out of Mason since he walked out of here yesterday and it was the longest time you’d gone without talking since you could remember.
All the feelings you never wanted to feel again were sitting uncomfortably in your chest. Anger suddenly bubbling up inside you that he’d managed to convince you to let him in and then dropped you like it was nothing. It would be hard to start again on your own, but you told yourself that if this was it then you’d never trust a man again. You’d been on your own before and you could do it again but the voice in the back of your head was screaming just because you could didn’t mean you wanted to.
It was still fairly early when you drifted off, exhausted from all the emotions of the day and with nothing better to do. The next morning you slept in later than you’d intended to, the continuous buzz of your phone waking you up eventually and you grabbed your phone to see a few missed calls from Freya. She didn’t give you much time to think as she was calling you again and you cleared your throat before answering.
‘Frey? Is everything alright?’
‘Why haven’t you been picking up? I thought you were dead’
‘I’ve been asleep’
‘Well wake up, I need to borrow a top for tonight. I’ll be over in a sec’
‘Freya wait-‘ you sighed, trying to tell you you were at your flat rather than Masons house but she’d already cut the call off and you didn’t have the energy to call back. You figured you’d wait until she called back first, hopefully Mason would open the door and he would have to explain why you’re not there so she could give him a talking to.
None of that happened though as she was knocking on your door 30 seconds later and you opened up with a confused frown on your face.
‘How did you know I was here?’ You asked and she shuttled her shoulders.
‘Mothers intuition’ she told you and you rolled your eyes before following her into your room where she proceeded to flick through your wardrobe to find what she wanted.
‘What do you need this for?’ You asked but she kept her face away from you as if she was embarrassed.
‘I may have a date tonight’
‘Ooooo’ you teased, sitting up in hopes she’s turn and look at you. ‘Anyone I know?’
‘That’s classified’
‘Oh, tell me please’ you pouted as she finally looked at you but you felt intimidated by her stare.
‘Why don’t you tell me why you’re here first?’ She questioned before sitting on your bed with you and you knew you wouldn’t be able to keep your emotions in check with her.
‘I feel like you already know’
‘Woody told me a little bit yeah, but I’d rather hear it from you’
‘Woody?’ You laughed, everything now clicking into place. ‘You’re going on a date with woody?’
‘Oh shush’ she told you, trying to be serious but the blush on her cheeks gave her away. ‘Well you haven’t told me anything. I’m supposed to be your best friend’
‘I know I’m sorry’ you breathed, your head falling into your hands as you took in a breath. ‘It’s all just a massive mess’
Freya let you vent, nodding along to let you know she was listening but you had a feeling she already knew most of it considering how calm she was and she gave you a sympathetic smile at the end of your long rant.
‘I’m sorry love, that sounds shit. But hiding out here won’t do the pair of you any good’
‘Last time we tried to speak it didn’t go very well. I’m not sure I want to talk to him right now’ you huffed and just as you were about to speak her phone started ringing.
‘Listen, I’m so sorry but I need to shoot’ she told you, jumping up and you furrowed your brows at her sudden change of mood.
‘Okay… I’ll walk you to the door I guess’ you laughed, getting up to follow her out but she held her hands up as if to get you to stop.
‘It’s fine, you stay here I’m sure I won’t get lost on the way’ she laughed. Kissing your forehead and walking towards the door. You let her go, hearing the door shut and taking a deep breath as you were finally alone again.
The sound of footsteps made you freeze though, thinking maybe she’d forgotten something and was coming back but you weren’t expecting to see Mason stood in your doorway. You carefully stood up, not knowing what to do but you could see his eyes were sad as soon as you looked at him.
‘How did you…’
‘Freya let me in’
‘Oh’ you breathed, looking down to the floor ‘So this was a set up?’
‘I wouldn’t go that far. I just knew you probably wouldn’t let me in so I asked for her help’ he told you and you couldn’t deny it stung a little knowing she’d gone behind your back after she knew how you felt about everything. ‘She came by earlier and I dropped her over here. Don’t worry, she’s already given me an earful’
‘Why are you here?’ You asked quietly, looking down. You knew why but you weren’t sure you were ready to forgive him yet or if you were ready for if things went the other way.
‘Cause I think we should talk’
You couldn’t pick out what way the conversation would be going from the sound of his voice and the uncertainty of it all made your eyes sting. You didn’t know what way you wanted things to swing but having him here now and the potential risk of loosing him made you realise you didn’t want to be without him. The thought of him ending things right here with you in your bedroom was too much for you to handle and you couldn’t hold anything in anymore, covering your face with your hands and sobbing into them as you began to panic and fear the worst.
‘Please don’t, Mase. Please don’t do this’ you sobbed, your chest tightening as you finally got some of your emotions out. ‘I can’t-‘
‘Hey, baby no’ he interrupted, closing the gap between you and holding you by your arms. ‘Don’t do what?’
‘Please don’t break up with me. I’ll do anything please just don’t leave me’ you sobbed, crying for the first time since this had all happened and it was like two months of pain were coming out at once.
‘What? Why would you think that?’ he asked you softly, eventually pulling your hands away from your face and wrapping them around his shoulders so he could pull you into a hug. ‘That’s the last thing I want’ he mumbled into your neck and you began to loose it. Relief flooded you at his words but you were still upset, now crying even harder because you sort of knew things would be okay and when he hooked his hands under your thighs, you let him carry you over to your bed. He sat you down as you straddled his lap, sobbing into his neck as you finally let out all the emotions you’d been holding in for weeks. All the hurt and miscommunication flooding from your body but you couldn’t stop the heart wrenching sobs as he held you to him as tight as he could.
You felt him shuffle to the side a little bit, rubbing his hand up and down your back gently as he placed his lips to you ear. ‘Lay down with me’ he whispered and you let him move you so you were half draped over him. His hand reached under your hoodie to stroke over you back in attempts to soothe you but it just made you cry harder. You hadn’t felt his skin against yours for so long and the goosebumps erupted almost immediately as you buried yourself into him further, letting him just hold you together.
He let you calm yourself down, your sobs turning from heartbreaking to small sniffles and when you were ready you shuffled back to look at him shyly. His eyes were glossy as he looked at you with a sad expression as if he was disappointed in himself.
‘I’m so sorry’ he breathed placing his lips on your forehead as fresh tears formed in your eyes. ‘I’ve been the prick of all pricks and you deserve so much better than what I’ve been giving you. Everything you said the other night was right and I knew it but I was too far up my own arse to agree with you’
‘What happened? What did I do-‘ you started but he shushed you immediately, moving so he could cup your jaw in an attempt to make you not look away from him.
‘You didn’t do a thing, I promise. It was me and I’m so sorry it took me almost loosing you to realise’ he whispered, sadness crashing like a tidal wave in your tummy as your lip wobbled at his words. ‘When things go wrong, I have a tendency to self implode. After the surgery I got really down in the dumps and I couldn’t make it stop. And I knew I was hurting you, of course i did, but all I could focus on was myself. I know it’s not an excuse and it doesn’t suddenly make everything okay. I know it probably makes things worse actually’ he sighed and you felt your bottom lip tremble.
‘I’m so sorry’ he breathed, kissing your forehead and you gulped down a sob at the feel of his lips. ‘For all of it. For not talking to you and pushing you away, for making you feel like a stranger in your own home. For not helping out and leaving you to do all the work and for not telling you how much I love you every second of the day because I really really do’ he told you, tears spilling down his cheeks as he let you know how sorry he was and you felt the sobs you’d pushed down rise back up. Hiding in his neck again so you could cry the rest of your emotions out.
‘I’m sorry you felt like you had to confide in Ben. He told me you didn’t really want to talk about it but when he could see how I was effecting you I was so angry and embarrassed I’d let it get to that point. That’s why they weren’t there the next day cause I wanted to talk but I was so nervous and you looked so broken and when you went straight to bed I didn’t know what to do. I just seemed to make everything worse’
‘I thought you’d given up on me’ you said quietly, hearing him let out a shuddery breath at your words. ‘After everything I’d done for you after your injury it just felt like a massive kick in the teeth’
‘I’m so sorry’ he he told you, tears now running down his cheeks as you were spelling out how he made you feel. ‘it was never you I promise. Honestly? Every time you touched me I thought I was gonna break down. I didn’t want you to know how bad I was feeling and I knew if you showed me any affection then I was done for. You’re the only person in the whole world I can’t act around and I didn’t want you to think I was pathetic. But I went the complete other way and took you for granted cause I figured you’d always be around and I didn’t know what to do when you weren’t. I’m so sorry’ he told you, his voice cracking at the end as he started to cry himself so you held him closer to you. ‘This whole years been fucking shit and I let it get on top of me. You’ve been my light in the dark and I’m so ashamed of myself for how I’ve treated you’
‘Come on’ you whispered, pulling his head into your neck so he could let his emotions out too. Yes you were upset but you hated seeing Mason like this. He was right, he’d had an awful time of it lately and whilst it didn’t give him permission to treat you how he had, you could see how he’d let it get to that point.
He pulled back gingerly and your heart broke as you looked down at his bloodshot eyes and wet cheeks, wanting nothing more than to kiss him but you held but you held back as you hadn’t quite reached that point yet.
‘You don’t have to answer right now. I know I’ve broken everything we had and it’ll take a while for you to trust me again but will you please come home? Cause it is your home, not just mine’ he told you quietly. ‘Or we can stay here tonight if you’re not ready yet. Or if you want me to go so you can think things through I will’ he added quietly but you knew knew you didn’t want to be without him now.
‘I’ll come back’ you whispered with a small nod but you both made no attempt to move for a little while as you just held each other together for a bit, eventually falling asleep as you were both tired from crying.
You weren’t sure how long you’d slept for, but when you woke up Mason was already looking at you, a soft smile on his lips as he stroked his fingers through your hair and you automatically shuffled into him a bit further.
‘You okay?’ He whispered, nodding into his neck as you squeezed him a little tighter.
‘What time is it?’
‘Nearly 11:30’ he confirmed, just then realising you’d been asleep for a lot longer than you thought so you started moving to get up.
‘We’ll start heading back if you want, I just need to grab a few things’ you told him and within the next five minutes you were walking out the door to his car.
‘Leave yours here I’ll come get it later’ he told you as he opened his for you and you agreed before getting in. Your hand was in his the whole way home and once inside he made you sit on the sofa whilst he made you some lunch. He looked a little unsure of himself when you were both done as you were still so quiet so you budged over further into him so he’d pull you into hug and you felt his whole body relax into your arms.
‘Y/n?’ He whispered after a minute or two and you looked up into his glossy before moving yourself so you could straddle his thighs and cup his jaw. ‘I really am sorry’
‘I know you are’ you reassured him, your heart hurting as the tears escaped his eyes when he shut them but you wiped them away before placing a soft kiss to the crease between his brows. As much as he’d hurt you, you could also see how much he was hurting himself and had been for a while. In the end the overwhelming need to apologise for your part in all of this took over. ‘I’m sorry too. For leaving and not saying anything earlier. I just thought if i said anything you’d break up with me so I thought it would be better to wait but I realise now it was silly’
‘You’ve got nothing to be sorry for’ he breathed ‘and no matter how bad things would of got the last thing is ever want is to be without you’ he confirmed as he squeezed your waist before you leaned forward to pull him into a hug.
It felt so good to be back in his hold and even though you had a lot more to talk about all you wanted was the feeling of his lips against yours so you carefully lent forward to bring him into a soft kiss.
How you’d resisted up until now you’d never know, but as he cupped you cheek and pulled you in closer you couldn’t of felt more at home. The kiss didn’t last long as you were both smiling but your heart burst when he pulled back and rubbed his nose against yours before leaving a gentle kiss on the tip.
‘I love you’ he whispered, tears welling in your eyes instantly but you were so thankful to hear those words again. A small giggle erupting from you before you gave him another quick peck.
‘I love you’ you whispered back, heart thudding as the gorgeous smile that crept over his face.
You spent the next hour or so opening up to each other more, lots of apologies and tears shared between you until you started to feel like yourself again and seeing the spark return to Masons eyes washed you of any bad feelings.
‘Can I ask? What did Freya say to you?’ You asked him softly and the embarrassed smile on his face told him it wasn’t anything good.
‘I basically got tag teamed by her and Woody. She said she’d put too much effort if to get us together for me to fuck it up like I was and Woody said I had a lot of cheek to do exactly I threatened him not to do and he hated seeing how upset you’d become when he saw you last’ he said quietly and you had to fight a small smile, knowing they were sticking up for you when you weren’t there. ‘I wanna ask you something but I feel like the timing is super bad and weird’ he laughed but you looked at him encouragingly, confused about what he would want to ask you but you also curious.
‘No, it’s okay. Just ask’
‘Would you move in with me?’ He asked quietly, taking down a nervous gulp and continuing before you had a chance to say anything. ‘Like properly. I know it’s probably the weirdest thing I could ask after everything thats happened but I’ve hated being here without you’ he admitted. ‘Like I hate the way the way you could so easily leave and I know it sounds weird and toxic as fuck but I want you here now more than ever. And I know you like your own space but I’ve had an idea’ he told you, an excited look in his eye and even though you were shocked at what he was saying you were willing to hear him out.
‘What is it?’
‘Well I was thinking we turn one of the guest rooms into your room? You know like I’ve got my office and stuff well I thought we could set you up something similar? We can decorate it however you want and it can be like your own little safe space for when I’m not here or I’ve pissed you off for the millionth time’ he teased and you could help but laugh.
‘Would you really give me a room?’
‘I’ll give you three if that’s what it takes’ he laughed and you smiled at him shyly. ‘I just thought it might help you know? You having your own space but we can still be together every night. I’m not gonna lie I’ve slept like shit this week without you’
‘I haven’t been sleeping that great either. Not for a while’ you confessed sadly but the feeling of his lips on your forehead made you smile as you snuggled into him more.
‘You don’t have to give me an answer right away, but I just want you to know I’m serious about you. About us, you know? And I’m sorry it took me fucking it all up to actually show you’
‘Better late than never’ you told him quietly before a calm silence took over the both of you.
The thought of moving in with him was properly was tempting, you already knew it could work as you’d been living together for a while and the prospect of not having to pay for a flat you didn’t use was a bonus. The fact he was also willing to let you have your own space here was appealing and after not much thought at all you were looking back into his soft brown eyes.
‘Mase?’
‘Yeah?’
‘I’ll move in’
‘Yeah?’ He laughed, kissing the bridge of your nose. ‘Really? Are you sure?’
‘I’m sure. Yeah I love my flat but I love being with you more and it’s too much of a tie to my old life. I’m ready for a new beginning with you’
‘I love you so much’ he whispered, pulling you in for a soft kiss that knocked the wind out of you. ‘You have my word that this or anything similar will ever happen again, okay? I promise you’
‘I know, I believe you’ you smiled before kissing him again. ‘And I love you too. So so much’ you told him, eyes raking over his tired face and you could see how exhausted he was immediately. The black bags under his eyes looked heavy and you could help but reach out to to stroke his face. ‘Are you sure you’re alright Mase?’
‘I’m fine. Just a bit tired that’s all’
‘You sure?’
‘Well I have a little headache actually’ he pouted, causing you to pout back in sympathy.
‘Oh baby’ you breathed, kissing in between his eyebrows softly but the slight shake of his head made you pull back.
‘It’s here actually’ he said with a smile, pointing to the left side of his forehead in hopes you’d kiss there too and you couldn’t deny him. Following his finger to every spot he said he had pain and it seemed to have traveled from his forehead all the way down his cheek until you’d made it to the corner of his mouth where he gave you a cheeky smirk. ‘You know where it hurts the most?’
‘Where’s that?’
‘Here’ he smiled, pointing his finger to his lips. ‘It’s really painful’
‘Oh you poor thing’ you you breathed, tilting his face up more so you had a better angle before gently pressing your lips to his.
There was no smiling this time, just the pair of you pouring yourselves into each other, letting the other one know you were okay and they you loved them before pulling away slightly breathless and you caught the sly smirk on his face.
‘What?’ You quizzed, watching him bite his lip to stifle a laugh but your question glance made him speak up.
‘If I told you my dick hurt would you kiss it too?’
‘Mason Mount’ you gasped, laughing as your body fell into his and he caged you against his chest whilst kissing the side of your head.
‘I’m joking I promise’ he smiled. ‘I’m just happy we’re back’
‘I’m happy too’ you beamed dropping a quick kiss to his nose to let him know you were as content as you said you were.

Chapter 16
Summary : Daemon's love and care has made your life easier post accident, however you can't help but feel that he's not being entirely truthful to you.

Tumblr media
It had been two weeks since you returned home from the hospital. Daemon had practically moved in with you, and it felt like he had always been there. There was no official discussion, no grand gesture. You just found a luggage full of his stuff in your room one morning and none of you said anything about it. He was taking such good care of you that this whole traumatic incident didn't feel like the worst thing that had ever happened, even though it actually was the worst experience you had ever been through in your life.
You still had the recurring nightmares and you used to see a therapist before for anxiety issues so Daemon got in touch with her and she was visiting you as well to help you deal with the aftermath of the trauma the accident had left behind.
There was just one problem, just one tiny problem, you had this ugly sinking feeling in your gut that he was hiding something from you.
Everytime he left the center, he came home almost an hour later, which didn't make sense to you because it was merely a twenty minute drive. Viserys had told you that maybe he was going to his condo but when you had asked him the same he had denied doing so. He had told you that Samantha was there and he didn't want to see her under any condition.
The next evening you had your friends over at your apartment so when Daemon came back from work, he was already a bit distracted and seeing a group of ladies just lounging in your apartment was a bit of a surprise for him. You knew you had to introduce them to each other at some point so that's what you did. Once they left he sat down on the couch next to you and kissed you softly before he slumped onto the couch.
"Tired?" You asked him softly as you raised your right hand to caress his scalp,
"No..but that feels good…keep going" you smiled as he said that. You couldn't understand how he wasn't tired, he trained himself and the new guys that turned up at the center and he was basically your caretaker for the rest of the day, taking care of your diet and medicines that you needed and were too careless to take on time.
"You had fun i see" he mumbled, making you smile, it was nice to see your friends. You always enjoyed gushing about the guys you were seeing with them but Daemon was not just some guy, he was the love of your life.
Next day as he came home he found you in the kitchen trying to do whatever you can with one capable hand and you felt his eyes on the nurse Sally who was also a bit worried about the whole situation but more than that she feared his wrath for allowing you to do this.
"Stop glaring at her, I insisted, I practically forced her to let me do this" you told him so he sighed and rubbed his forehead with his hand before he spoke.
"You can leave for the day" he told Sally so she immediately scurried off as soon as she could.
"You scare people, you know that?"
"Good. What are you doing hmm? You're supposed to be resting so you could heal" he stood behind you and hugged you like that with his arm secured around your waist and chin down on your shoulder "You're making Cheese Burger"
"Yeah well i was going to surprise you but you are early today"
He didn't say anything for a few seconds and then he just placed a soft kiss on your cheek. He was early because he had decided to not feed Samantha today, she was difficult to break but he wasn't going to give up. He had come so far to take a step back now. He had left a candy bar on the bed yesterday though, even though he wanted to be as cruel as possible he couldn't actually bring himself to be that way.
"You are magnificent darling, if i could.. I'd just fuck you right about now" he mumbled in your ears and it made you feel all tingly.
"Well you absolutely can, you choose not to"
"Husshh"
After eating while he was in the shower, you received a call from the owner of Cuisine waves telling you that they were hiring someone else in your place because they couldn't hold your job any longer. When Daemon stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and found you crying with your head smushed in the pillow he was immediately right next to you,
"What is it hmm?" He asked you firmly even though he was a bit terrified.
"I lost my job..they fired me" you mumbled between your sniffles and the sight made him tear up but there was also a small smile on his face
"That's it..that is what is making you bawl my silly girl?" He asked softly so you glared at him.
"I liked working there…I felt.. comfortable..i was there for four years for a reason" you sniffled again like a baby so he wiped your tears and kissed you.
"Yeah?? felt comfy there huh?" You nodded as he questioned you and then he pampered you all day long to comfort you.
Two days later you discovered that he had bought the diner and hired you back in your previous position. You didn't know whether to cry from the sweet sentimental gesture or be infuriated by his impulses. At the end you decided to cry indeed because you knew you'd never treat him the way Samantha did. He did something nice for you in the hope that it would make you happy and feel better so you weren't going to go all mommy on him and tell him that he needed to spend his money wisely. Also, he knew better about financial management than you did.
A week later while you were alone with Sally, she had received a call informing her about a family emergency and she asked you if she could leave so you didn't really think much of it and allowed her to go. When Daemon came home he was furious you could tell but he didn't really snap at you, no, he waited for a day, kept his anger bubbling until he saw Sally again and snapped at her instead.
However once he noticed the tears in her eyes he calmed down and strictly told her to not be so careless about your safety and inform him first if she had to go somewhere.
After she had left for the day, you were watching Daemon huffing and puffing still, cursing at every little inanimate object that seemed to have irked him somehow. He even had an argument with his hair brush for not being able to get rid of his tangles.
"Come here"
You mumbled softly so he grunted and then eventually walked towards you.
"What?" He asked you as he carefully got on top of you with one of his knees between your legs and the other on the left side of your thigh.
You curled your fingers around his neck and pulled him closer to kiss him, his body was stiff at first but soon he melted with your touch. As your hand wandered down he grabbed it swiftly and pulled away to look at you.
"What are you doing?"
"You know what I am doing"
You struggled against his hold so he allowed your hand to wander lower and you slipped it under the waistband of his trouser but he grabbed it again.
"Noo"
You halted in your tracks as he said that, you had to know what he was feeling, you had to be careful with him after everything he had been through.
"Is that a no in the sense that 'Stop it I'm uncomfortable' or no as in 'I want it but I'm scared I'm going to hurt you'
His brows crinkled as you said that and he placed his forehead down on yours,
"The latter ofcourse..I can't do this love..half of your limbs are broken and you know how I get when I'm fucking you" you bit on your lips as he said that. Your eyes were glittering with different emotions,
"When did you start to love me this much?" He narrowed his eyes at the question,
"Don't get too cocky"
"Okay but I never said anything about fucking now did i? Let me just.." You mumbled as you took his cock out and gave it a few strokes, he was already hard just from the close proximity and sexual whispering in his ear "You have been so grumpy.. let me fix that"
His breathing got heavier as you worked him up and down slowly.
"Look into my eyes" your tone was sharp so he glared at you and grabbed your chin with his fingers.
"Don't talk to me like that"
"Mmmm sorry..look at me dae pleaseee"
He kissed you deeply and passionately before he did what you had asked him to, his knee that was settled between your legs had inched closer to your heated core and as he pressed it right against your damp soaked clothed flesh you let out a loud gasp,
"You need this too don't you?" he snickered as your hips gyrated against his knee.
"Of Course i do ..it's been months, the last time I touched myself was night before the accident"
"And what were you thinking of when you pleasured yourself?"
"I thought about you and how good it would feel to have your fingers playing with me instead of mine"
His finger slipped under the waistband of your shorts and panties at once as he rubbed your wet dripping lips ,
"Mmm spread your leg darling, only one of them is broken..the other one works well" he commanded in an authoritative tone and the gravel in his voice made you moan,
"Gosh I miss this side of you Daemon "
"I know you do, pampering isn't enough for you is it? You need to be put in your place once in a while"
"Mmm yesss sir..I wish I could suck on your cock, drink all of the cum you're going to spill on me"
He moaned at your words and he really wanted to please you but the way you worked him up with your touch and your filthy words were making him lose all his inhibitions, he unbuttoned your shirt until your breasts were exposed and then his mouth sucked and nipped on the erect buds while his thumb rubbed in circles over your clit and middle finger curled inside your warmth.
You didn't really need much stimulation, you have been craving his touch for months now so when you came so suddenly he was only pleased with himself. His fingers were soaking wet as he pulled them out of you, looking right in your eyes he licked them all at once into his mouth, the way his full soft lips wrapped around his own digits was the most erotic sight you had ever witnessed in life.
The ecstatic look on his face gave you enough indication that he was close and you wanted to feel it all on you, you wanted to feel his warm cum on your skin.
"Cum all over me dae…please" your whiny begging voice pushed him over the edge and he aimed for your breasts as he let go, covering every inch of your tits in his glistening cum. The constant whisper of your name as he rode through his high was enough to turn you on again.
"Feeling better?" You asked him in a sheepish manner but he kissed you in response instead of answering and got off the bed to clean the mess he had made on you, once he was done he buttoned up your shirt.
"Was I too rough?" He asked you softly so you smiled,
"Noo come here" you opened your arms, well one arm to be precise, so he sighed before he leaned down and rested his head on your chest
"What's bothering you baby?"
"Nothing I'm just worried about you"
"I'm okay now..I'll be okay"
"I know I just…I'm being stupid'
"No you're not..you're adorable like this"
"Shut up"
"Mmmhhm'
When you woke up from the nap he wasn't there in the bed with you so you called out for him but when he didn't answer you picked up your phone and called him instead
"Darling you up?" He asked you
"Yess where are you?"
"At my condo..had to grab a few of my things" he said and you felt worried thinking about him being alone there with her.
"Ummmm okay..is she there?"
"Yeah" he mumbled as he looked at Samantha, all tied up in chains and bound on the bed still,
"Okay be careful baby and come back soon okay?"
Well he wasn't the one that had to be careful anymore.
"Will be there in a flash i promise"
"I love you" you mumbled softly so he smiled.
"I love you"
Once you hung up, he got up from the chair and walked towards Samantha to take the duct tape off her mouth and she immediately began to hurl verbal abuses towards him which didn't impress him at all, it's not that he hadn't heard her creative words before. He sat back down on the chair and glared at her for a moment before he spoke,
"All of this can end Samantha, you know that right? All you have to do is prove to me that you'd confess for your crime"
"I have given you my word you bastard" she yelled at him so he let out a sound of disapproval. He didn't trust her at all.
"But I don't believe you ..I don't trust you to not change your mind"
"Daemon if I die here you'd be in prison forever..is that what you want?"
"Well at least you'd be dead ey?" He smiled and her eyes welled up in tears of anger and hurt at the same time "Don't fret though, you think I'd let you get away so easily after what you have done to her? Just a slow torturous death? No no no no" He snickered as he leaned into his chair
"I want to watch you rot in prison sweetheart"
You were on the bed waiting for Daemon to come home, being almost bedridden wasn't fun to say the least, sure you were getting to spend plenty of time with him but when he wasn't there you felt absolutely alone.
"Where is the stuff?" You asked him as he entered the room all empty handed.
"In the car..ummm in the backseat of the car" he mumbled as he took his hoodie off and his shirt followed, you were only getting pudgier everyday while he only got hotter somehow. You wondered if Samantha said something to him but you decided to not bring her up.
"Once i recover I want you to train me back to shape"
He smiled as you said that and crawled into the bed to get on top of you, you could smell the cologne mixed with the aroma of freshly burnt cigarette on him.
"In shape you silly girl? You're all perfect but I'll help you get healthy if that's what you desire" he grabbed your chin and talked to you as if you were a petulant child.
"Yeahh ..that .."
"What do you want for dinner?"
"You"
"You had me ..no more exertion..what else?"
There was a smile on his face and it made you smile even wider.
"You seem..in a good mood"
"Yeah you put me there with your little stunt this afternoon" you couldn't help but giggle at his words but then your expressions turned somber.
"I'm bored Daemon..I'm losing my mind over here"
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"You're doing enough for me..I can't ask you to be here with me 24/7" he sighed before he got off the bed and quickly walked towards the closet to put his shirt on again.
"Let's go"
"What?"
"Come on …I want to show you something "
He picked you up as carefully as he could and made you sit down on the couch as he went back in the room to grab the car keys, then he picked you up again and took you downstairs.
"Where are we going?"
"Shhhh.."
You got quiet as he gave you the eyes, he really wanted to wait for your birthday but he figured this would brighten your mood. Halfway on the road he made you close your eyes and when you opened it you were right in front of the diner. From outside it looked different, he was getting the exteriors changed now that he owned it but that was not what took you by surprise, you gasped as you looked at the new name of the diner. It was no longer Cuisine waves.
"Silly's Cheeseburger" you read the name out loud so he looked at the diner,
"It's so fucking stupid I know..I just wanted you to have a place where you'd feel at home even when you're at work and perhaps think of me every time you see the name"
He chuckled as he looked your way and he was expecting you to laugh or give him eyes or something but he saw you sniffing and crying instead, those were the tears of happiness for a change. He immediately took his seat belt off and scooted closer to comfort you,
"Sentimental little thing aren't you?"
"Shut up ..this is ..the sweetest thing..i ..oh god"
"Hey hey hey okay no crying..no more yeah?" He cooed in your ears as he embraced you as tightly as he could without hurting you. Once you had calmed down a bit he stepped out and opened the door on your side to pick you up so he could take you inside, it was all empty in there due to the renovation. The diner was going through a complete transformation.
"Wait where are ..what about the other staff?"
"Don't worry, they're all off with pay..it will reopen a week later..on your birthday" you gasped again as he revealed that.
"Gosh Daemon i love this..i love you …but is this really the best use of your money? I don't want you to regret it in future"
He smiled as you said that and made you sit down on the bill counter, cupping your cheeks he made you look at him,
"This is not just a financial investment, this place is the reason why you were there in the alley that night, the reason why I met you..why I am no longer just living but alive. I'd never ever regret anything that involves you my love, now I'd shut up because you're going to cry again and I don't like little girls who cry all the time "
You bit on your cheeks as he said that and pulled him closer to kiss him as lovingly as you could.
"You know we are not far apart in age right?"
He chuckled as you said that.
"I'm jesting darling, you can cry all you want but –"
"You hate it I know" he nodded in affirmation.
"Want to see your favorite place?"
"Do you even have to ask?"
You giggled as he picked you up again and took you to the kitchen, it was newly furnished as well, you didn't even recognise it at first.
"New burners oh my gosh, we have been complaining for so long..wait a minute– " a look of realization flashed on your face so he raised his brows .
"Does that mean you're my boss now?"
"Technically yeah..don't look so shocked though ..you know I'm your boss any which ways"
"Haha funny..do you think people will hate me for fucking the boss?" He grimaced as you said that,
"You're so crude and no.. I think they'd suck up to you instead"
"I don't want that either"
"Are you happy?"
"I'm more than happy right now dae, you have no idea how amazing you are"
Only if you knew what he was capable of he thought.
While he was grabbing dinner you were in the car by yourself and something felt off but you couldn't put your finger on it, you had the same sinking feeling in your chest now but you didn't understand why. However as soon as you were back in your apartment suddenly it dawned on you.
You looked at him as he was taking the food out, contemplating whether to ask him the question or not. He seemed happy and relaxed for once and you didn't want to ruin that but then you didn't understand why he was lying to you.
There was nothing in the backseat of his car, none of his belongings, he went to his condo to bring his stuff but he came back empty handed and he told you that his things were in the backseat of his car but you had just been there and it was empty so why did he lie to you?
Where did he go? Was he still seeing Samantha or was he in some sort of trouble with her? Millions of questions bothered you and you knew you had to figure out the truth sooner than later.

Tease Tidbit Tuesday
Tagged by @giddyupbuck @hippolotamus @daffi-990 @disasterbuckdiaz @jesuisici33 @smilingbuckley
HOLY SHIT I haven't posted anything since last year (yes I had to make the joke, sorry not sorry) but really it has been a while, I took an unplanned writing break, I was struggling so much with chapter four of They don’t know (your name is already mine) that I just had to step away for a moment but that turned into uh a month...Anyways I'm back here's some of my pirate AU and some from Chpt. 4 just for shits and giggles:
Pirate AU:
The salt spray coats his face, the wooden deck beneath his boot rolls with the waves and with the taste of salt on his lips he’s never felt more at home. He can feel the presence of his crewmates at his back, unhurriedly going about their tasks but he can’t turn to face them. His eyes are stuck staring at the horizon, watching as the yellow sun dips beyond the edge, painting the sky with oranges and pinks.  As the stars show he can smell gunpowder and the metallic taste of blood lingers in the air. The shouts of fighting are muted as the sounds of crashing waves rise until it’s all he can hear. He knows what comes next, he tries to move but his feet are rooted in place as if the wood has grown vines and trapped him there. Agonising pain flares in his right thigh, then his left shoulder, as a blade is run through him from behind. He feels the blood run from his body, soaking his uniform and the deck below him. He just stands there as the life drains out of him, helpless to do anything but watch as the moon rises and makes its arch across the sky until he’s as cold as death, until whatever is holding him there releases and he drops to the deck like he’s puppet with cut strings.  But instead of wood, there’s a straw mattress and instead of the constant sway of a ship he’s on solid ground. The pain’s still there but rather than the sharp burning pain of new wounds they ache and seize like they have for the past six months since they fullied healed and will probably ache for the rest of his life. Eddie takes in a gasping breath, tastes the bitter salt of sweat on his lips and rubs the sleep and lasting images of the sea from his eyes.
They don’t know (your name is already mine) Chapter Four:
“I’ve ruined Christmas,” He knows he’s pouting but he can’t help it, their first Christmas together as a married couple, as an official family and he’s ruined it. “Buck no-” Eddie tries to protest but Buck knows he has, not only are all his presents probably ruined but he’s going to have to spend Christmas in the Hospital without his boys because he will be damned if he ruins their Christmas even more than he already has.  “-I’m tired, and in pain, please can you call the nurse,” He knows he’s shutting down and leaving Eddie out in the cold but he feels a tightness in his chest and tears burning in his eyes and all he wants to do is fall back into oblivion for a bit and he knows he’s running away from his feelings but he thinks it would be okay to do that until after Christmas.  “Okay, I’ll be right back.” Eddie kisses the back of Buck’s hand before getting up, when he’s at the door he looks back briefly, shooting a look of concern at him before stepping out of the room.

Guardian Angel
Chapter 7: Pinot's Palette
Tumblr media
Summary: Your recovery is coming along nicely and it’s finally time for your first official date with Wanda. You go to great lengths to ensure that it is perfect.
Warnings: Mentions of injuries.
Word Count: 5k
A/N: This has been my favorite chapter to write so far. I hope you enjoy!
Guardian Angel Masterlist
Your phone emitted a small ding, pulling your attention away from the book you were reading. You glanced at the screen and saw the latest reminder in your schedule - it was time for your second follow-up appointment with Helen. Your heart sank a little as you realized that you were still unable to walk, which meant that getting to the Med Bay in your wheelchair would be a challenge, as always. To make matters worse, your left arm was still in a sling, leaving you continually reliant on your newfound friends to help you accomplish even the simplest tasks around the compound. You couldn't help but feel weary of the constant need for assistance, but you were hopeful for some good news today. It had been over a month since the accident and you were eager to get back to work soon.
Wanda had taken Billy and Tommy to soccer practice, leaving you on your own. Thankfully, Natasha kindly offered to accompany you to your appointment. Standing with her arms crossed, she watched as you tried to convince her that you didn't need her assistance. You showed her how you could use your right hand to push the wheelchair and then use gravity to move forward.
Natasha humored your demonstration for a total of ten seconds before she had enough of your stubbornness. She grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and started pushing you down the hall. Frustrated, you grumbled but let the widow take over.
“Beep, beep,” Nat called out as she rolled you rolled into the Med Bay.
“Y/N, we’re all set for you,” a nurse announced.
“Want me to come in with you?”
“Sure,” as the nurse starts to roll you away.
You were familiar with the routine by now. X-rays and an MRI were conducted to evaluate your recovery. Fortunately, test results were instantaneous in the Med Bay. A luxury you were thankful for. A few minutes later Dr. Cho knocked and entered your room.
“Hi, y/n,” sitting down in front of the hologram interface and opening your patient file. “How are you feeling today?“
“Honestly, this week has been a bit tough. I'm still experiencing some soreness on the left side of my stomach and chest, but my headaches have become less frequent.”
“The discomfort you're feeling on your left side is normal after the splenectomy and the procedure on your punctured lung. You may experience some residual and referred pain for a while. I'd also like to remind you to avoid screen time as much as possible while you're still experiencing concussion symptoms,” raising an eyebrow at you.
“Don’t worry,” Nat interrupted. We’ll make sure she stays off the screens.”
“Overall, I'm pleased with how your recovery is progressing," Helen said as she brought up the images from your MRI. "The cradle has significantly sped up the healing process following your surgery. As you can see here," she pointed at the screen, "there is very little scar tissue and no inflammation around your abdomen or chest. This is exactly what we want to see.”
You appreciated Helen's optimistic and calm demeanor. She had been with you every step of the way since you were rushed into her operating room, and you weren't sure how you could have managed this last month without her.
“So, that was the good news,” rubbing her hands together. “Do you want to hear the great news?”
“That wasn’t the great news?”
“Your fractured ankle has healed well over the last month. This means that you no longer need to use the wheelchair," showing you your X-ray image. "Instead, we will fit you with a walking boot for the next couple of weeks. You can take it off at night, and if everything goes as planned, you should be able to remove it, along with your sling, in two weeks.”
“Wow," you said, running a hand over your face in relief.
If all goes well, I foresee you being able to return to work in a few weeks,” she added.
"Thank you so much, Helen.”
*^~^*
You and Natasha stepped off the elevator and walked into the common room. You realized that it had been a long time since you had walked anywhere and you would never take the simple act of walking for granted again. You took a seat on the sofa and checked your phone to see if Wanda had called. Since you had both been honest about your feelings, you couldn't go long without speaking to the redhead.
A hand reaches out from behind and takes your phone. “Nope.”
“Hey!”
“You heard what Helen said. No screens while you’re still having concussion symptoms.”
“Come on, Nat,” you complained, reaching for your phone. “I feel fine right now. Wanda was supposed to call me after my appointment and I don’t want to miss her.”
"I’ll hang onto your phone and let you know if she calls,” holding it above her head.
Taking advantage of your newfound mobility, you stood up and tried to grab your phone with your good arm.
"Maria! Heads up," Natasha yelled to her girlfriend as she walked into the room.
The Deputy Director caught the phone in one swift motion before it hit her in the face.
"Please give me my phone,” you pleaded.
"Hey, you’re standing! That’s great.”
"Thank you, Maria. May I have my phone as a reward?"
She looked past you at Natasha, who shook her head in defiance.
"Sorry, y/n," she was just about to toss your phone back to Nat when it started ringing.
Maria smiled and showed you your phone screen lighting up with Wanda’s name.
"GIMMEE!" You shouted as Maria tossed it over your head to Nat.
Natasha answered the phone and switched over to the speakerphone.
"Hey, Wands," she said resting her head in her hand as she leaned on the counter.
"Nat? Why are you answering y/n's phone? Is she okay?"
"She’s fine. Helen just told her to stay off the screens for a bit while she’s still having some lingering concussion symptoms," Natasha said.
"She’s still having concussion symptoms?! We FaceTimed for an hour last night and she didn’t say anything. You tell her that we are going to have a long discussion about following Helen’s orders after I drop the boys off at soccer practice," Wanda said.
"Oh, don’t worry. She’ll get the message," Natasha responded with a smirk.
"Thank you, Nat. I’ll be there in about half an hour.”
"Okay, bye," Natasha ended the call and promptly put your phone in her back pocket. "You could try to come and take it, but I warn you, I’ve taken down Hydra agents in less time than it would take me to push you over."
You grumbled and walked back over to the sofa with Natasha following you closely.
"That’s more like it," Natasha said, lovingly patting the top of your head. "Now, may I interest you in a peanut butter sandwich?"
"Sure… with chocolate milk?"
"Oh my God, what are you, eight?"
"Says the superhero offering me a peanut butter sandwich.”
"She’s got you there, babe," Maria snickered, plopping down next to you on the sofa.
"Fine," Natasha said before heading back into the kitchen.
"So, you and Wanda," Maria sheepishly grinned, as you turned beet red at the mere mention of her name. "That’s wonderful," patting you on the shoulder.
"Hey, watch this," she smirked. "Nat! Y/N wants marshmallow fluff on her peanut butter sandwich."
"Hell no! Do I look like I work at the Candy Bar?" Natasha yelled from the kitchen.
You both lapsed into laughter on the sofa.
*^~^*
You were having your lunch with Natasha and Maria in the kitchen when FRIDAY interrupted.
"Ms. Y/L/N, Ms. Maximoff is on her way up."
"Thank you, FRIDAY," taking another sip of your chocolate milk.
Natasha whispered to Maria, "This should be good."
You heard the elevator doors open to the common area. "Alright, where is she?"
"In here!" you called out, standing up and taking physical inventory just before Wanda entered the kitchen.
"You better not be looking at your phone or watching television because—" Wanda stopped in her tracks at the sight of you standing.
"You're... you're standing," she said, subdued by shock.
"Yeah, two more weeks with the walking boot and the sling, and then I'm fully mobile again," you said, a small smile curling your lips.
Wanda stood silently for a moment before running toward you. "This is wonderful, y/n. I'm so happy for you," she said, wrapping her arms around you.
You grunted slightly as she inadvertently squeezed your left side.
"I'm sorry!" she said, pulling back quickly. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, still a bit sore on this side, that's all."
Wanda ran her hand softly over your side before looking into your eyes and then down at your lips. You sensed her intention as she kissed you gently.
"Well, that was anticlimactic," Maria's voice cut through your intimate moment.
"Nat, Maria, when did you get here?" Wanda asked.
"Oh my God," Natasha exasperated. She pulled your phone out of her back pocket and handed it to Wanda. Maria simply wiggled her eyebrows and gave you a knowing smile as she followed Nat out of the room.
*^~^*
You lay propped up on Wanda's bed. You didn't change any of the decor, but the simple addition of your favorite books and fluffy blanket made her room feel more like home to you. Truthfully, you relished the opportunity to learn more about Wanda as you took in the intricacies of her favorite things meticulously placed with care around the space. Wanda traced shapes on your arm as she rested her head in your lap.
"That's a beautiful painting," you said, admiring the landscape on the wall above her armoire.
"It's the Valley of Sokovia," Wanda said lifting her head to follow your eyes. "My grandmother Katerina was a gifted painter. Before the war broke out, she would paint a variety of Sokovian landscapes across the country. She used to say that painting was her soul upon the canvas, a story of colors and rising hope.”
"I've admired it every day since I've been here. It's exquisite."
"It was on my grandparents' wall forever. It felt like it spoke directly to my soul in a language I knew at my birth. I wanted so much to paint like my grandma when I was a little girl, but Pietro and I had to grow up quickly and suddenly learning to paint didn't seem so important anymore," Wanda said, fidgeting with her hands. "After they passed, my mother hung the painting in mine and Pietro's bedroom to remind us that our home was beautiful. Not just a war-torn country forgotten by the rest of the world."
Your face softened at her story. "I'm so sorry that you grew up under those circumstances."
Wanda let out a deep sigh, her mind lost in memories of the past. “Despite the tumultuous times, there were moments of pure joy and happiness that I cherish dearly. Playing with Pietro, the aroma of our mother's homemade Paprikash in the air during family dinners. The nights spent watching classic American sitcoms with our father to improve our English.”
You listened to Wanda reminisce so vividly that you could almost see the memories dancing in the reflection of her eyes.
“They were simple yet beautiful moments that instilled a sense of gratitude in me. They remind me of all the blessings I have in my life - my health, my newfound family, my adorable boys. She hesitated for a moment before adding, "And you."
You looked down at Wanda staring up at you and couldn't help but smile.
"I feel the same way. The magic is in the little things,” you said, running your hand through her hair. "I was thinking... we haven't had our first official date yet, and I would love to take you out this weekend," staring down at Wanda's head in your lap. "If that's something you would like to do, of course," you added quickly.
"You're so cute," Wanda said, reaching up and caressing your cheek. "That is something I would very much like to do."
Your stomach exploded in butterflies. "Okay! Don't worry, I'll take care of everything. Umm, Saturday. Is Saturday good?" you asked, rambling happily.
"Perfect. Billy and Tommy are having a sleepover at a friend's house, so I'm all yours. What did you have in mind?"
"Hmm, I think you'll just have to wait and see," you smirked. "I want it to be a surprise."
*^~^*
“Help me!” You shouted as you burst into Yelena’s room.
“I would be careful about shouting that particular phrase in this building,” Yelena answered calmly. The blonde didn’t even bother to look up, too occupied with polishing her widow bites. “You’re liable to turn around to a variety of weapons pointed in your direction, candy maker.”
“I need some advice.”
“Is that so?” Putting down her widow bite and raising an eyebrow at you. “Well, it just so happens that I am excellent with the advice.”
“What happened?!!” Kate bursts in bow and arrow drawn with Carol by her side, hands glowing blue.
You tried to duck a potential shot, but you still didn’t have your balance and proceeded to fall back on your butt.
“See what I mean?” Yelena smirked.
“Jesus!” Your heart pounding. “Everything is fine, I just wanted Yelena’s advice on something.”
“Oh,” Lowering her bow with an heir of disappointment.
“We’ll just go then,” Carol said.
“No, wait. You can stay too. I need all the help I can get.”
Kate circled back to Yelena’s bed and Carol helped you up onto the couch with her.
Wanda and I are going on our first official date this weekend, and I was wondering—“
“Oh my god! That is so exciting!” Kate shouted. “Where are you taking her? Well, probably somewhere amazing, right? I mean it would have to be to impress the Scarlet Witch. That’s a lot of pressure. Wow, are you nervous? What are you going to do?”
You blinked a couple of times, as everything Kate just said hit you like a ton of bricks.
“Holy shit. What was I thinking? I don’t know what I’m doing. She deserves the best, I should just tell her I have to cancel,” you rambled as the blonde widow stood and walked toward you. “What excuse do you think would work best? Maybe—Ouch!”
Yelena gave you a soft slap across the face.
“What was that for?!” Touching your cheek.
“You were spiraling. Granted, it was Kate Bishop’s fault,” glaring over at the young archer. “Trust me when I say this, y/n. Wanda's outlook on life has changed significantly in the past year. What the little witch cares most about are her boys, everything else is secondary. Which means she must care about you to bring you into her world. Trust your gut, she will love anything you plan as long as you're together.”
“Wanda is sentimental,” Carol added. “She would love a date that you put some meaningful thought into planning.
“Sentimental and meaningful,” the wheels turn slowly inside your head.
Okay, Thank you three. This was helpful,” rising slowly from the sofa. “I’ll see you later.”
*^~^*
“You’re supposed to be resting!” Nat called out between punches.
“I was!” you shouted from the side of the ring. “I need your advice!”
The widow dodged her opponent’s punch then twisted his arm behind his back and pinned him to the mat.
“Take five, Bennett,” rustling the trainee agent’s hair before standing and walking towards you.
“What’s up?” Stepping out of the ring and wiping her face with a towel.
“Wanda and I are going on our first official date this weekend and I was hoping you could give me some insight on what she would appreciate?”
“Hmm,” taking a sip of water from her water bottle. “Wanda appreciates thoughtfulness, y/n. I know that sounds ambiguous, but it's true. Show her you're paying attention.”
*^~^*
The car arrived at Wanda's house at 7:00 pm sharp. You had wanted to pick her up yourself, but Helen and Bruce forbade it. They insisted that you needed to fully recover, with no shortcuts. This was how you found yourself in the back seat of Stark's 1959 Racing Green Aston Martin.
"Thank you so much for offering to drive tonight, Pepper," you said.
"No problem, y/n. We're happy to play a small part in your special evening," Pepper replied.
"Not to mention, your little destination is down the street from one of our favorite restaurants," Tony added from the front seat.
You grabbed the single red rose from beside you and took a deep breath.
"You got this, Willy Wonka!" Tony cheered.
You rolled your eyes at his nickname for you as you got out of the car. Walking up the embellished concrete path to her front door, you couldn't help but feel nervous. Stepping up onto the porch, you looked back at Tony and Pepper, smiling and giving you a thumbs up.
You took one final cleansing breath before ringing the doorbell. You heard footsteps on the other side of the door a few moments later, straightening your suede coat and running a hand through your hair just as Wanda opened the door.
"Hi," she said softly, blushing at you.
"Hi, wow, you look beautiful," you said, taking in her appearance.
Her red hair was styled in an updo bun. A few loose strands fell down the sides of her face. A white peasant blouse, light-wash jeans, and brown boots completed the look.
"Thank you. I wasn't sure if this was okay since you wouldn't tell me where we are going. You said casual date night..." she trailed off as she slipped on a rust-colored corduroy jacket.
"It's perfect," you said, handing her the rose.
"Oh my. Thank you, y/n. It's lovely."
"I was going to get you a whole bouquet, but I didn't want you to have to carry it or stop to put it in water," you rambled.
"It's perfect," she repeated your words.
You offered her your hand as you stepped off the porch.
She looked down at you and giggled, "I should be the one offering you a hand, sweetheart. You're down to two working limbs."
"I believe in chivalry," you said, smiling at the redhead.
You walked to the car and opened the door for Wanda. As she slid in, you followed behind her.
"Hi Wanda, good to see you," Pepper said.
"Good to see you too. Thank you so much for driving us tonight," Wanda replied.
"Okay, kids. Off we go," Tony announced. "Please keep your hands, legs, feet, and arms inside the car at all times."
*^~^*
The car slowed to a stop at the corner of Washington Street and Chester Avenue.
"Alright. Have fun, you two," Tony smirked.
"We'll pick you up in a bit," Pepper added.
“Okay, thank you again for the drive,” you said. “Enjoy your dinner!”
You watched the car drive off before reaching for Wanda's hand. She took your hand in hers and smiled at you.
"So, are you finally going to tell me where we're going?"
"You'll see," you sang as you walked hand in hand down the sidewalk a dozen or so yards before stopping in front of a shop.
Wanda looked up at the storefront lit up with fairy lights and read the sign:
Pinot's Palette
"What is this y/n?"
"You said you always wanted to learn to paint like your grandmother. I thought you might like to start tonight," you explained. "I signed us up for a 45-minute Paint and Sip class. They give you step-by-step instructions on how to paint a really beautiful picture, and there's wine and appetizers. I thought it could be fun," you trailed off shyly.
"I don't know what to say, I- this is so thoughtful, y/n. Truly."
"Shall we?" you asked, opening the door for her. You were greeted immediately by a tall brunette with glasses.
"Welcome to Pinot's Palette! I'm Sarah, your instructor for the evening. Your class starts in about 20 minutes, so you can go ahead and grab a glass of wine and some appetizers in the meantime."
"This place is so cute!" Wanda said.
"Agreed," you replied, admiring the warm and intimate space. A variety of paintings was displayed proudly on the walls from past classes.
Wanda poured both of you a glass of Pinot Noir. You swirled the glass a bit before taking a sip.
"Mhmm, delicious," you said.
"Definitely on the dryer side. Medium body with bright acidity," Wanda said, letting the wine breathe before taking another sip. "Silky tannins, with hints of raspberries, cherries, and vanilla."
You simply stared in astonishment. "Okay, that was incredibly sexy. How do you know so much about wine?"
"You don't know everything about me yet," Wanda smirked as she turned and walked toward the food spread.
You followed closely behind her like a lovesick puppy.
*^~^*
"Okay, welcome to Saturday Night Sip and Paint class, everyone. Tonight we're going to paint a simple yet beautiful full-moon lake scene. So let's get started!"
You and Wanda followed along as Sarah demonstrated each step on her canvas at the front of the class. You were thankful that it was your non-dominant arm in the sling, so you could still paint.
You started by mixing the perfect tints for your masterpieces. But, you couldn’t seem to get it right. Yours were uneven and messy, while Wanda's were solid and smooth.
Frustrated, you mutter to yourself, "This shouldn't be this difficult. I mix chocolate for a living, I should be able to mix paint." As you look up, you notice Wanda giggling at your struggles.
“You're enjoying this, aren't you?”
“Just a little bit.”
You can't resist the opportunity to make her smile. You dip your finger in the white paint on your palette and playfully boop Wanda's nose, leaving a white dot behind. She looks at you with a mix of surprise and amusement.
“Stop it, y/n. You’re going to get us in trouble,” she whispered, laughing softly.
“Okay, but honestly, you look adorable.”
*^~^*
"Your backgrounds look great!" Sarah said, walking by and admiring what you and Wanda had painted. "Ooh, Wanda! I love how you used a bit of Prussian blue in the corners. It adds depth."
Wanda beamed with pride as you smiled at her. You were having a wonderful time with her, and you didn't want it to end.
That is pretty,” you added. “Not to mention, my favorite color.”
“Is it?”
“Yes, I’ve always loved a strong blue,” washing your brush in the glass of water.
“Any particular reason?”
You sighed and shrugged your shoulders. “It’s tranquil and calm. Two things that I’ve tried to bring more of into my life over the years.”
“I know how you feel,” the redhead empathized, as she took another sip of wine. “The last year of my life was so chaotic, I vowed from now on to only surround myself with things and people who bring me a sense of serenity.”
You nodded in understanding, as Sarah grabbed the attention of the class again.
“Alright everyone, now we’re going to add the moon to our paintings. It’s really simple, everyone go ahead and pick up a spare paper plate,” holding one up. “Then trace around the edge like this to make a circle.”
You watched as Wanda traced her moon. Her tongue adorably poking out of the side of her mouth in concentration.
“There we go!”
She looked over at you, still sitting there with your paper plate in your one good hand looking down at your sling.
“Oh, I’m sorry y/n. Here, let me help you.”
“It’s okay, Wanda. I got it.”
You put down the plate, picked up your small brush, and dipped it in the off-white paint. In one fluid motion, you painted a perfect circle.
“Wow, that was smooth. How did you do that?”
“When you work in a sweet shop and you make a living scooping ice cream or frosting cupcakes all day, it bodes well if you can make a perfect circle,” you giggled.
“Hmm, I see,” lips pursed to stop herself from smiling. “I wonder what other hidden talents you’re keeping from me.”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Wiggling your eyebrows and taking a sip of your wine.
After you added the silhouette of the pine trees to your paintings and the reflections and ripples in the water, you were on to the final touch of adding stars and a comet to the sky.
You dipped your fan brush in the white paint and flicked it toward the canvas to create a random star pattern. Picking up your liner brush, you added a comet to your sky. Everyone signed and dated their paintings. You added a small heart in the corner of your canvas to serve as a reminder of your first date with Wanda. You looked over at the redhead to see that she was adding a second comet into her sky.
“Two comets? Now that is a miracle.”
“One for Billy and one for Tommy. They’re my miracles.”
“They certainly are,” kissing her cheek as she finished her painting. “I hope I get to meet them someday.”
“I think you will,” smiling at you.
After class, everyone had a photo taken with their finished painting. You both held them up proudly as Sarah used Wanda’s phone to take the picture.
“Thank you so much, Sarah. We had a wonderful time,” you said, hugging the young woman.
“Yes, I’m going to tell all my friends about this place. It was wonderful,” Wanda added.
“It was my pleasure. You two come back anytime.”
*^~^*
As you left the shop and stepped into the cold night air, you quickly sent a text to Pepper to let her know that you were finished. She responded promptly, telling you that they had just paid the bill and would be there shortly.
"Tony and Pepper will be here in a few minutes. Shall we sit?" you asked, gesturing to a green metal bench a few yards away.
"Sure. Don’t think I’ve forgotten that you still need to take it easy just because we’re out and about tonight,” leading you to the bench.
You sat down next to her and took in her profile, feeling a surge of affection. You had always felt that Wanda was different, not just because she was one of Earth’s mightiest heroes, but because she was sweet and genuine. You couldn’t wait to see where your journey together would take you. Wanda looked over at you, sensing that you were staring.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm just so happy to be here with you."
"Me too,” loose strands of her red hair blowing in the soft night wind.
Slowly, you leaned in and kissed her, feeling her warmth and love. Your stomach exploded with joy at Wanda's touch. Suddenly, the sound of a car horn broke you from your reverie as Tony pulled up beside you and rolled down the window.
"Excuse me, hi. I'm looking for a witch and a candy maker for a live-action Hansel and Gretel," Tony joked.
"You're an idiot," Wanda deadpanned, sliding into the backseat next to you.
"No funny business in the backseat, you two," Tony warned as he pulled away from the curb.
“How was your painting class?” Pepper asked
“It was wonderful,” Wanda said, holding up her painting.
"You painted that? Wanda, that is gorgeous!" Pepper exclaimed.
"She's a natural," you said, stroking her hand with your thumb.
"You flatter me.”
“It’s true. Your grandmother would be proud.”
Wanda blushed at your compliment as you leaned over and kissed her cheek.
*^~^*
Tony slowed to a stop in front of the redhead’s house. You stepped out of the car and walked the her to the front door, clutching her painting and the single red rose you gifted her. She unlocked the door and set the painting and rose down just inside the entryway.
"I had an amazing time tonight, y/n. It was so special, I couldn't ask for anything more," Wanda said, smiling at you.
"Me too, it was wonderful. I asked everyone for advice because I wanted our first date to be perfect. Then I remembered the story you told me about your grandmother’s painting, and I knew-" You were cut off by Wanda's lips on yours. The kiss was filled with passion, a million loving thoughts condensed into a moment.
As you pulled apart, her hand trailed down your cheek and she smiled, biting down on her lower lip. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, y/n."
"Okay. Goodnight, Wanda," you said, watching her walk inside and close the door behind her.
You turned around to see Tony and Pepper ducking down in their seats, pretending they weren't watching you from the car. "Subtle," you said, sliding into the backseat and shutting the car door.
“We didn’t say anything,” Tony said, holding his hands up in defense.
Once you arrived back at the compound, you immediately got into your pajamas and removed your walking boot. You were exhausted from the excitement of the night, but it was worth it. As you snuggled into your covers, your phone dinged. You opened the notification to see the picture Sarah took of you and Wanda holding up your paintings. Wanda had texted you: "I had a great time tonight. Every moment with you is a work of art."
You blushed profusely as you read her text before sending back your reply: "I have a beautiful muse.
Placing your phone on back on your nightstand, you laid back down. Adjusting your sling, you placed your good hand behind your head and stared up at the darkness of the ceiling, lost for words. You couldn't believe that Wanda Maximoff had left you speechless. It was the first of many times she would do so.

"Relax, baby. I've got you."
"Noah," she murmured, opening her eyes to look at me. "I've never been, I mean I've never had,"
"I know. That's what I'm going to fix."
Sophie took a deep breath, relaxing against the couch.
"Close your eyes. I want you to feel this before you see it," I whispered in her ear, feeling the goosebumps instantly spread over her skin. She lightly nodded as I sunk back down to begin my work.
Sophie:
I was all packed up, ready to leave this hell behind. Boxes were stacked all around me and as I watched the remaining pieces of furniture being hauled out the door by Jolly and Matt down to the moving truck, I knew, without a doubt, that I was ready for this new, fresh start.
With my body healed, my mind in a better place, and my heart full of adrenaline, the future, for once, looked promising. I hadn't heard from Perry since the day he sent those horrible texts and photos, and I had no idea if my requests to the police for an investigation ever went through, but it didn't matter anymore; it was over. In just a few months my life had drastically changed for the better and I was optimistic about what would come next, especially since I was moving out of the place that held too many bitter memories from the last few years. It was better this way.
"It looks like the boxes are all that's left," a voice came from behind. I smiled, knowing who it belonged to.
"Looks like. Is there enough room?" I asked, turning around to face the body the voice belonged to.
Noah slid his arms around my waist and kissed me since we were the only ones in the apartment.
"Plenty," pulling me in closer to him. I stared up at him, amazed at how this beautiful man had fallen into my life months ago. Ever since the day we broke down our barriers and made out in my kitchen, things have been a little abnormal between us, but in the most mind-blowing, exciting sort of way. We weren't officially together and we weren't a "thing" to those around us, but we definitely had something going on.
Noah was wrapped up in one of the band's mech hoodies, black sweats, and perfectly white sneakers, smelling like heaven, and it aroused all my senses.
"You're staring, Sophie," he gushed, bringing his hand to my cheek and laying it gently on my skin.
"Sorry, but you make it very hard not to." I leaned into his touch, savoring the feeling of his tattooed fingers wrapping around me. I kissed his palm, earning a smile from him, then pulled away, just in time as Folio walked through the door.
"Which boxes go first?" He looked from me to Noah.
"Those over there by my bedroom. They're kitchen boxes."
Folio nodded, removing his hands from his hips, and headed over to grab the first box.
"I don't want to go, but I kind of have to, Jolly. The place needs me for a bit. We're on some downtime, so I'll go and then be back in a few days."
Nicholas walked through the door with Jolly hot on his heels.
"Like how long are a few days?"
Nick shrugged.
"I don't know like five?
Jolly rolled his eyes. "Five days!"
"Yeah, and that's not counting the travel days, so like a week then."
"Fuck, Nick!"
"What's wrong?" Noah asked, turning his attention from me to his friends.
"Nothing. Jolly's just freaking out about me and Folio going back to Virginia. It's only for five days."
"A week!" Jolly yelled behind him, walking out the door with two more boxes.
"You're leaving?" I asked, suddenly concerned.
"Yeah, I have some things I need to take care of at the tattoo shop I still work in Richmond. They're short-handed so I'm going to help out for a few days until the new girl starts next week."
"Oh, I didn't know you still worked there," I noted, throwing the last of the bath towels in a box and closing it up.
"Only on downtime, which isn't a lot."
I nodded, watching Noah leave with more boxes. "And Folio?"
"He's going to do some stuff with his dad and wants to go fishing. He says there's better places up there than over here."
Nicholas took the box of bathroom items I'd just picked up, and I thanked him.
"Nick and his fishing," I chuckled, shaking my head.
"Yup, you know he's got a huge tattoo over his chest of an eagle and a trout?"
My eyes widened. "No, I didn't."
"Yeah you wanna see," Folio offered, lifting his shirt as he walked over to me and Nicholas. A huge picture of an eagle with its wings spread wide and a trout caught in its claws stretched across Nick's entire chest almost to his navel. It was beautiful.
"Dang, Nick! That is incredible. Did it hurt?"
"Fuck yeah, it hurt. Couldn't move for days. But it was worth it," he chimed, cheesing at me and shooting me a quick wink.
"You know he's got a crush on you, right?" Nicholas whispered, shifting the box he was still holding
I tried my best to hide the tight-lipped smile that was trying to show.
"I, uh, I had a strong inkling, but I don't like to assume things that aren't there," shoving my hands in my back pockets.
"What's not there?" Noah asked, walking into the apartment and partially out of breath.
"Oh it's there alright," Nick scoffed, finally taking the box he'd been holding down to the truck.
Noah scowled at me, brown eyes searching me for an answer.
Noticing how out of breath he was, I brushed the piece of hair away that had fallen over his eye, grinning.
"What did you do, run all the way up the three flights of stairs?" I gazed at him, puzzled.
"Yeah, I just wanted to see if I could do it."
"And did you?"
"Yeah, just about killed me though." Noah chuckled, standing to his full height.
I rolled my eyes, not understanding the things this guy did just to prove a point to himself.
"What was Nick talking about," he asked, and I caught the hint of suspicion in his voice.
"Oh, uh just that, well he thinks Folio has a crush on me, but I think he's wrong."
"He's not," Noah stated, suddenly staring down at me with a strong yearning look in his eyes and moving in a little closer. I stared back, my head tilted almost fully back, unable to look away as he leaned in and pressed his lips to mine, kissing me so gently, and when he slipped his tongue inside my mouth, the insatiable feeling of his eagerness went straight to my sex, soaking my undies. I moaned in his mouth when he pulled me closer, pushing his growing bulge in between my legs, and squeezed my side so hard I was sure it was going to leave a bruise. When we parted, I was short of breath and completely turned on.
"But, it better just stay a crush," Noah finally said, running his hand through his hair and giving me that irresistible smile of his, making my heart race.
"And if it doesn't," I insisted, curious as to where this would lead.
"Then I'll fight him, and I'll win."
Noah walked off with the last box without another word.
"Seriously!" I yelled.
"Yes, seriously," came a reply.
Nicholas and I finished up the cleaning shortly after the last box was packed into the truck, and then Matt, Jolly, and Folio drove it to the storage unit I'd rented. The place was empty and quiet, and as I looked around one last time, I was overwhelmed by so many emotions that I dropped everything I was holding and threw my hands up to my face.
"Hey, Sophie, it's alright. Come here." Nicholas put down the cleaning supplies he was holding and gently wrapped his arms around me. I buried my face in his shoulder, thankful that I wasn't here alone, doing all of this by myself. I was so grateful to Nick and everyone else, especially Noah, who helped make this new life of mine possible. Without them, I didn't want to think about where I'd be right now, and I guess that's why I was crying and so emotional. I was just happy and man did it feel good to be happy. Eventually, we parted and I dried my eyes, apologizing again for being such a girl.
"Wouldn't it be weird if you didn't act like such a girl?"
I laughed, shrugging my shoulders. "I don't know. I'm just an emotional person and I feel too much of everything."
"I get it. We emo people are a different breed."
I looked over at Nicholas and couldn't hold my laughter in anymore. It felt good to laugh with a friend, and Nick had become just that; my friend.
Noah:
"What happened?"
"Nothing happened."
"You're lying; you're looking away."
"So. What's,"
"You look away when you lie."
"......."
"Why are so distant, Sophie? Did last night make you feel uncomfortable; it was only dinner and Anime."
"No, it didn't. Noah just stop, okay."
"Then fucking talk to me! Tell me what's going on inside that head of yours."
"I can't talk to you if I don't even know! Shit! Noah, it has nothing to do with you, okay? It doesn't. It's my head; it just isn't in a good place right now."
"What the fuck ever. Don't talk. Keep whatever shit is hurting you, whatever is pulling you away from me, buried inside.
"......"
"Do I scare you? Do you not trust me? Did I say something wrong that hurt you? Just give me an idea, please, before I go and fuck some shit up to get out of my own head. This whole thing is just, it's fucking with my mind. I,"
"Noah stop! Alright! Please, just stop. You didn't do or say anything wrong. I told you this isn't about you."
"Then what's it about?
"..........."
"It's Perry, isn't it?"
"......"
"I knew it. Did you talk to him?"
"No, I didn't. He texted me; early this morning."
"What did he say?"
"......."
"Dammit Sophie, what the fuck did he say?"
"...... He misses me."
"...... Do you believe him?"
"Should I?"
"No, you shouldn't."
"He haunts me, Noah. I can't escape him."
"I know what it feels like to be haunted by someone that's still alive, Sophie, but you need someone who loves your soul more than your body, and that's not Perry."
"Then who is it, Noah?"
"............"
"Don't, Noah, do not touch me, do not say sorry, don't say anything else. Just... just leave me be. I need to be alone."
"Sophie, wait,"
Her silence before slamming the bedroom door closed said everything I needed to hear. I fucked up, bad, and pushed her away from me. Her walls were back up and there was no way I was getting through them tonight. I went to bed on the couch, finding the release of my frustration with my hand wrapped around my length, picturing Sophie behind my closed eyes, bent over as I took her fast and hard from behind.
"There is no way I can afford any of these places, Noah! Even with my new promotion at my work, it'll be cutting it close."
Sophie closed her laptop harder than she meant to and tossed it on the floor. We were up in my studio, working on two things at once; she was looking for a new place to live, while I was writing lyrics to a few beats Jolly and I had put together before he took off for a vineyard tour in Northern Cali. Nick and Folio had already flown out to Virginia, leaving me and Sophie and the house entirely to ourselves.
What started out great turned into a fucked up, emotional fight with her that I never thought would happen; and it was all my fault. I pushed her into answering questions she didn't have the answers to and it made her put up walls that she never should have had to.
The image I had of her that night, stripped naked and bent over one of the chairs in the living room, got me harder than I'd been in a long time. The whimpers that fell from her lips, the moans that echoed through the house, and her perfectly round bottom lifted high enough for me to slide right into her soaking wet sex and fuck up into her made me cum so hard it came spilling all over my lap before I even had a chance to grab my shirt. Thankfully none of it got on the couch.
The hard-on I was getting just from thinking about it made the heat in my abdomen rage.
"What are you thinking about over there so quiet and lost in thought?"
I looked over at Sophie, her eyes locked on me like magnets.
"Whatever it is, it must be good. Your cheeks are red," pointing out my embarrassment. My skin prickled seeing her smile at me.
"You really want to know?" shamelessly undressing her with my eyes as I stood up and walked over to the gray couch where she was sitting.
"I asked, didn't I?"
"Yes, you did, but I'm afraid if I tell you, you'll run away; it's kind of dirty."
She narrowed her eyes at me as I squatted before her, folding my arms over her knees and laying my chin down on one of them, looking up at her, amused by the redness of her cheeks.
"You're joking, right?"
"Now who's blushing," smirking at the way she wiggled in her seat.
"You're a jerk," she said, laughing, pushing me away with the shove of her hand.
"A jerk who was thinking about your lips and how I like the way they taste," I confessed, gliding my hands up her thighs and feeling their muscles tighten.
"Oh you were, were you," Sophie teased, scooting forward until her face was a mere inch from mine, lifting her hand and running her thumb across my lips, making my dick twitch and swell inside my pants.
I shut my eyes as she closed in on my mouth, feeling her tongue slide slowly across my bottom lip before making its way into my mouth and her lips pressed against mine.
My nerves were on fire as she massaged the tip of my tongue until I could taste her. I grabbed her hips, bringing us closer together with the sound of a familiar moan leaving her.
"Fuck, girl, what are you trying to do to me," mumbling against her lips and feeling her smile.
"I'm just kissing you."
"If that's how you kiss, then I can't even imagine how you f..."
I was silenced by her lips attacking mine again, the heat of her mouth pouring into me, making me almost as hard as I was in the vision I had of us. My hands left her hips as I guided them slowly around her neck, wrapping my long, tattooed fingers around it and squeezing gently.
The air around us was silent and still when we parted and Sophie sat back, fixing her long, auburn hair she had piled on the top of her head in a relaxing bun.
"Where did you learn to kiss like that," I asked, getting up and sitting next to her. She shifted herself around, turning slightly towards me with one arm resting over the back of the couch.
"What, you think I don't read?"
"I didn't say that," I snickered.
"What about you?" Her face was a little flushed, bringing out the vivid red of her lips that showed signs of my lustful kisses.
I chuckled, smiling briefly, running my hand through the side of my hair.
"Noah, are you nervous to tell me?" Sophie asked in a playful voice.
Truth was, yeah, I was nervous; nervous as fuck at the fact that she and I had only known each other a few months and already I was completely wrecked by her.
"Let's just put it this way; I've had a lot of experience. Some really good and some really bad. That's all I'm saying."
"Fair enough," she nodded with a grin, looking away.
"I've had a lot of times I'm not proud of; times when I was in a very dark place, drinking and getting high all the time. Girls were thrown in there too somewhere, but most of the details are a blur now."
"Yeah, I understand that. I've learned to block out a lot of the trauma from my years with Perry. You'd think I'd be in a fragile state given everything that's happened, including a hospital stay, but a lot of therapy has helped me recover. I've learned to let it go. It wasn't easy; hurt so fucking bad, but it was worth it."
Sophie smiled as she brushed the strays of her hair away from her face. I suddenly felt like a piece of shit over how angry and upset I got at her the other day. None of it was her fault. She was only doing what she needed to do to protect herself.
"I let you down the other day," I quickly admitted, rubbing my hands together as they sat in my lap. I wasn't used to being this honest with anyone other than my therapist, but something inside me urged me to be with Sophie, telling me I had nothing to be afraid of.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I hurt you," focusing on the empty air between us. Shit. This was fucking hard.
Sophie took a deep breath. As if she could sense the anxiety building up in me, she scooted over and sat beside me, reaching over and taking my hand in hers, holding it tightly.
"Noah, you have nothing to be sorry about. You didn't do anything wrong. I told you that already."
"Yeah, I did, Sophie. I pushed you when I shouldn't have. I didn't listen to you when you said to leave you alone, and I made you put up walls. I don't want you to feel like you need walls around me. I'm not him."
Sophie swallowed hard.
"I won't hurt you like he did."
Turning away from me, she lowered her head.
"I loved him, Noah; more than I trusted myself to say," she admitted, looking straight in front of her. "and in the very beginning, more than words could express. But in the end, I lost myself trying to hold on to him when he never cared about losing me."
She turned back to me, tears filling her eyes and spilling onto her cheeks. "That day in my apartment, the things you said to me, told me that I could trust you; that my heart could trust you. That's freaking insane!" she laughed, dragging her hands over her face to wipe it clean.
"Why is that insane?" I asked, letting go of her hand and draping my arm over her shoulder instead, pulling her into me.
"Noah, you're you; hotter than hell, Concrete Noah. I'm me; plain Jane, full of drama, and a lot of baggage. How are we even here together right now? Why have you and the guys done everything that you have for me? I don't understand it. I don't deserve any of it."
Leaning forward, Sophie rested her elbows on her knees and played with her fingers. I was at a loss for words from everything she just told me, but I wasn't out of feeling a deep, hungry need to show her how wrong she was about everything.
"Hey," pulling her back by her shoulder, and as soon as she turned her face to me, I kissed her, drinking her in, but pouring out my carnal need for more of her, and when I met her tongue with mine, tasting her, her soft moan against my mouth made my dick hard again. Pulling back, we stared at one another for a moment, trying to figure out where we both wanted this to go.
"I just want to help you let go of him, Sophie. I want you to know what it feels like to be touched by someone who worships your body and your soul." I couldn't take my eyes off of her. The brazen look in her hazel eyes gave me all the confidence I needed to make the next move.
"Then help me let go, Noah."
"Are you sure? You won't regret me?" I had to know before I went any further with her.
"No," she answered with so much confidence that it made my heart skip a beat at knowing what she was about to let me do to her. I leaned in and kissed her forehead, lingering there for a few seconds.
I stood up and removed my shirt because we were going to need it later, letting it fall to the floor beside me. I smiled when I saw Sophie's eyes darken the way they did as they scanned my body and the tattoos covering it.
"Like what you see," I joked, kneeling before her. My mouth was starting to water at the idea of what I was about to do.
"I've only seen them in pictures; they're beautiful."
"You know what else is beautiful," I asked, spreading her legs apart and crawling in between them, meeting her face with my lips.
"You," I admitted in a hoarse whisper, kissing her cheek, her lips, and then trailing down to her neck where I slid my tongue over her supple, ivory skin. Her breathing became heavy her pulse quickened, and the perfect little moan that escaped her when I slid my fingers between her skin and the fabric of her leggings, had my dick throbbing and I knew before this was all over she wasn't going to be the only one cumming.
"Lift," I demanded, keeping direct eye contact with her while I pulled her leggings off, tossing them to the side. Sophie had beautiful thighs and I was longing to have my face between them, sucking her skin and leaving the purple marks behind that only she would see and be reminded of this moment. With only her panties on, I slid my hands up her thighs and laid them on her hips, grinning as she whimpered and bit her bottom lip, tugging her down a little bit to give me better access to her sweet sex that I knew was already wet for me.
"Is this okay," I asked her, before going any further.
She nodded quickly. "More than okay," she whispered, closing her mouth and swallowing. The anticipated look in her eyes as she waited patiently for what I was about to do, did things to me that I'd never felt before. Whatever was happening between me and Sophie was so electric and was destroying every memory of the girls who broke my heart.
Hooking my fingers around the top of her panties, I pulled them down, exposing the top of her sex. But I wanted to see the rest; I wanted all of it. Sophie clenched her thighs tightly and I knew she was nervous. "You good?" I asked again, looking up to see her head laid back, eyes closed, but her body was stiff. I moved back up, placing a soft kiss on her lips, feeling her kiss me back.
Parting her legs slowly and feeling them tremble beneath the tips of my fingers, I kissed the inside of both her thighs, pulling the supple skin in my mouth and sucking gently, leaving the marks behind like I wanted. Sophie wiggled and whimpered, her short, little cries echoing in the room. Releasing her skin, I licked my lips the instant I set my sight on her pretty center that was so wet and bare.
"You shave it," I said, impressed that she would do such a thing.
"Are you complaining?"
"No, not at all; I love it actually." And I did. God did I love the fact that I had the most amazing view of all her pleasure points.
"I want you to picture me behind your eyes the second you feel this, princess," I said, finally inserting the first finger inside her. Her loud moan as she arched her back, went straight to my groin, and I didn't hold back the grunt that came from deep inside. I pushed in and out of her, watching her legs shake and her belly tighten at each thrust of my finger.
"Noah," she cried, eyes still closed and bringing her hand over the top of mine.
The sound of my name falling from her lips aroused every nerve, every muscle in my body. Her pleasure was infectious. It was the kind that made me want to do whatever I had to just to see it on her. I gripped her thigh, squeezing it hard.
"You like that?"
She nodded quickly.
"How about this?" and I inserted my middle finger.
Her hips bucked again, and she let out a gasping cry that made me move in and out of her a little faster, the sounds of her panting hitting my ears like music. She was so wet, and the fact that it was all for me did something to my ego that words couldn't describe.
"What about this, huh? Do you like it when I do this, princess," pushing farther into her and twisting."
"Oh, Noah yes, fuck, that feels amazing," she moaned, pushing herself harder into my fingers.
What was happening wasn't about me; it was all about her and making her know what felt like to be handled like the beautiful being she was and not a piece of useless nothing. I suddenly wanted to take the next step that would hopefully remove that motherfucker from her mind for good.
I licked my lips before diving in and lapping up every wet part of her, savoring the taste of her pussy and all of its treasure in my mouth, while still keeping my fingers buried deep inside her.
She was deathly intoxicating and for the first time in my life, I couldn't get enough. I licked her faster and sucked her harder while my fingers continued pumping in and out of her, earning small screams and cries from her lips that almost made me cum in my pants. I held back, forcing myself to control my arousal, vowing to make Sophie cum over my fingers or in my mouth first.
I laid my hand on her belly, feeling its tightness, knowing she was close.
"Tell me, baby. Are you good?" taking a moment to make sure she was okay.
Sophie opened her eyes for the first time and looked down at me as my mouth licked her entrance, pushing my tongue deeper into her.
"Ugghh, fuck, Noah," she cried, gripping the cushions and throwing her head back. I smiled, knowing I was pleasing her the way she needed to be pleased.
"Keep moaning for me, princess. I wanna hear you; I wanna feel you." Remembering her saying she was never allowed to touch that asshole when he was using her, I was desperately craving her touch, so I reached for her hand, and when I found it, I placed it on the top of my head. She instantly pulled it back.
"It's okay," I encouraged, stopping for a moment to look up. Her eyes were full of concern like she was waiting for me to correct her or be angry with her. I realized then, just how damaged Sophie really was and it crushed my heart.
"If I could, I would kiss away all your scars," moving up toward her face, with my fingers still inside her moving in and out. Slowly she lifted her hand, placing it gently on my cheek and brushing the hair away from my eye, as her eyes welled with tears. "Why do I believe you?"
"Because," I said, shifting to where I was partially on her and the couch, "he never made you feel like this. He never wanted to see you pleasured and even just finger fucked like the way you are right now. Fuck, Sophie, I'm so glad that night happened. If it hadn't we wouldn't be doing this. I'm glad we're doing this."
Nudging her legs to open back up, Sophie gave me complete access to her sex, proving that she trusted me. "Me too."
"Did he ever make you cum?" slowly working my fingers in her once again, pushing further in and feeling her tighten around me.
"Not often. Most of the time I was forced to fake them just to get him to stop," she said, tears running down her face.
"Well, I'm going to fix that."
She whimpered when I barely pulled my fingers out only to slam them back in, curling around her and feeling that one spot that I knew was it.
She moaned so loud and dug her nails into the skin of my hand, causing me to seeth and almost cum. Gritting my teeth, I began moving faster and harder inside her, working her until the tightness against my fingers was undeniable.
"Don't stop, Noah, god please don't stop."
"That's it princess, cum for me," I growled. Encouraging her the more she panted and whined, I used my fingers to thrust up into her, until finally, she exploded around me, her orgasm hitting her so hard that when she cried out, I came in my jeans, not caring about the warm liquid seeping through my pants.
We were both out of breath, hearts racing out of control, and minds completely ravaged, and as our bodies began to calm down, Sophie lifted my face to meet hers.
"Kiss me," she said, her body still trembling from the excitement.
I snatched her lips in mine as I gripped her face with my hands, and pulled her in closer because she just wasn't close enough and I needed her as close as I could get her.
"Hey, Noah, I found the box that has all the lighting equipment," Matt yelled, throwing the door open and dropping a box on the floor.
"What the fuck, Matt!" I hollered, throwing myself over Sophie's legs to hide her from Matt's eyes.
"Oh, shit man, I'm so fucking sorry! I'm just gonna go and," he bent over to pick up the box, but I stopped him.
"Just leave the fucking box, Matt. Get out," I yelled, and he opened the door, slamming it closed behind him.
"I wonder how much of that he heard," Sophie said, out of the blue.
Thinking she was going to be mortified, I looked at her with disbelief, seeing her trying to hide a smile.
The two of us busted out in laughter, embarrassed together.
I wasn't sure what was going to happen once the two of us left this room, or where this moment would leave us, but I didn't regret it. My biggest fear though was that Sophie would, just like the others did in the past, and by tomorrow, I would be feeling emotionally fucked. Either way, I knew I was never going to look at the gray couch in my studio the same, ever again.

Spending days with Lily was something I never planned when I came here.
Waking up next to her, touching her, tasting her was something that I never imagined I could do during my summer break.
Creating a routine with her was something easy, making me learn many things about her. When she's the first to wake up, she always kisses my shoulder before going to the kitchen to get the breakfast for us ready. If I'm the first to wake up, she hugs my pillow and holds it close to keep sleeping. In the morning she always plays soft music, sometimes jazz, and sometimes soft rock. Whenever she goes to get a shower she always asks me if I want to go with her, something that will make us spend more time than planned.
Those are little things that made me fall for her.
"Logan, today I have to go for the last check up" she said, looking at her phone. "Will you drop me there?"
"I'll go with you, silly"
This last week, the person she has been sleeping with, is not who I am. And even if I trust her, I can't tell her now who I am. There's no coming back, I can't undo things now.
Her healing went pretty past, making me feel less guilty as days went by and watching how she stopped grunting every time she walked around her apartment.
"Let me go get changed and I'll be here quickly" I said, leaving her apartment and going to mine.
Even if we spent all day together, I still had my things in the apartment next door, wanting to have a place to be myself and not Logan.
I have been planning on doing a short trip around the country, wanting to go with her to the places she always talks about. I want to know about the place she loves.
Watching her smile after the doctor told her that she can walk without the bandage was beautiful. How she looked at her foot and tried to move it slowly. I felt so relieved that the bandage will be away from her.
"Do you want to walk around the village?" she asked me, making me bite my lip nervously and nod.
What if someone here recognizes me? But her smile…
"Of course" I nodded, mentally slapping myself.
"Alright! I'll call Nora and tell her that we will have lunch there" she smiled, grabbing her phone.
Nora, the owner of the apartments. Shit! She knows my name.
"Actually, I wanted to ask you something" I said quickly before she started the call.
"Oh? What is it?" she frowned, looking at me with a curious gaze.
"I wanted to go on a trip" I confessed. "With you. Around Greece"
"Oh" she nodded, blushing immediately.
"I'll leave in two weeks, and I want to visit places around" I said quickly, watching how her smile started to grow slowly. "And you are the perfect person to guide me around"
She chuckled and nodded, making me sigh relieved. I just hope that no one recognizes me wherever we go, I really don't want to imagine how it would be if someone calls my name and asks me to take pictures with them while I'm with Lily.
"Okay" she smiled. "So I guess we have to get ready"
I sighed and nodded, getting inside her car and driving towards the apartments again.
Call me selfish, but I don't want to go around and be the center of attention again. I don't want to be disturbed during my free time.
And I don't want Lily discovering my lies.
Driving in the car with her is comfortable. She puts music on and I can place my hand on her thigh or hold her hand. Everything feels so relaxed between us, we let things flow the right way at a slow pace.
These last few days we discovered each other in a way I never imagined I could know someone. I discovered all her soft spots, kissing them with my lips and touching them with my fingers. I saw all the moles she has on her back, tracing them with my fingers while watching how she fell asleep, creating a mental map of them. I learned the way she likes to be touched.
I'm falling so hard for her, and it scares me to death.
"Where do you want to go?" she asked me, sitting on the table in her kitchen while I made lunch for us.
"I don't know… you know, somewhere where there is enough space" I sighed.
"Right, agoraphobia" she nodded. "So…. Athens is out"
I looked back at her, chuckling. She had a map and a pen, crossing with a red pen the places we won't go.
"Santorini neither" she said. "Those typical places are crowded by a lot of tourists"
"Makes sense" I nodded, laughing softly. "What about ruins? You said you wanted to take me to some of them"
"Oh, right!" she smiled happily. "The closest one is… Delphos"
"Then we'll go to Delphos" I smile, grabbing the plates and sitting next to her.
Everyday I learn more about this place. About the mythology, about the story. She lays with me on bed and reads for me her books while I brush my fingers all over his back and arms, creating an intimate atmosphere that makes me want to stay here with her forever.
"Maybe I can ask Bastian if he can give us his camper" she said while eating. "So in that way we can be out for some days"
"That would be amazing" I nodded. "So we can go wherever we want, right?"
"Exactly" she nodded.
It was exciting, planning where to go and the places we will visit was amazing. And it only made me think of how we looked, how we acted.
I spent all day with her, sleeping next to her and acting like a couple. This would be the definition of a summer love, right? Something that won't last forever, only a temporal fling. But I wish it could last. I wish I was Logan, the boy that is a beginner DJ, that knows some famous people just because they were classmates or because they were neighbors, not because I am famous too. I wish I could be that person so I couldn't be lying to her.
"I'm going to call Bastian, yeah?" she smiled, pecking my lips and getting up to grab her phone.
I washed the plates when we finished eating and then I looked around her apartment.
Even though I spent some days here, I never had the chance to look at her things.
She doesn't have family pictures, anything related to her past. And it made me curious. She only has small paintings she made and small statues of some gods and goddesses. In her bedroom she has a box where she keeps all her jewelry, like her earrings and rings.
Something I noticed about her is that she always touched her ring finger, looking at it with a lost gaze before sighing deeply and cursing under her breath. It always made me wonder why she does that.
I walked inside her bedroom, sitting on the bed and looking around with a smile. This place is the perfect picture of her: something simple and at the same time colorful.
I scanned with my eyes all the room, until they stopped on a light blue box. A box of a brand I know it's luxurious.
"What?" I frown, swallowing thickly.
She always said that she never had a lot of money. That she came from a poor family that helped her come here to make her dream come true.
But the light blue box with the name Tiffany & Co written on silver letters on top of it, made me feel strangely bad. I tried to not open it, but my fingers did it alone. And when I found a ring with a big diamond stone on it, I felt my heart falling to the ground.
"What do you think you are doing?"
I closed the box but didn't put it back where it belongs. Lily lied too?
"What is this?" I frown, turning around and showing her the box. "Lily?"
"I… I was going to tell you" she sighed sitting on the bed. "Really, I just needed the perfect moment to tell you"
"Then I think this is the perfect moment" I frowned.
Call me selfish. Why am I feeling betrayed when the one that is hiding the biggest lie here is me?
"I… I was engaged" she sighed. "That was the engagement ring"
I swallow thickly and look at the box. This is more expensive than this whole apartment.
"My name is Lily Barton" she sighed. "Daughter of Samuel Barton"
"Wait…" I frowned. "Samuel Barton, the owner of one of the most important law firms of England?"
"Eh… yeah" she sighed, hugging herself. "I wanted to tell you, Logan… I promise"
I look at her and take a deep breath. I can't get mad because of this. I can't get mad because I'm lying to her too.
"I never belonged to them… to that family" she sighed sitting in front of me. "I never felt that it was my place. They didn't let me study whatever I wanted. I had to do everything they wanted, be the perfect daughter. They never showed me love, Logan… they were abusive"
"Why didn't you tell me, Lily?" I sighed, holding her in my arms.
"No one here knows, only Nora" she mumbled. "And well… now you know"
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I should tell her… but I can't.
"Thank you for telling me" I whisper, kissing her head.
Now I'm feeling worse than I was already feeling.

Being in his arms meant being safe. He was my safe place, somewhere I can relax and forget about the exterior.
And now that he knows about me, I can feel better and be myself around him.
"Go grab clothes and put them on a backpack" I smiled, kissing his jaw and hugging him. "We're going to make a road trip"
He laughed and nodded, kissing my lips and squeezing my ass softly before getting up to go to his apartment.
Bastian told me that he was going to bring the camper here after putting gas on it, just to explain to us how it works and where we should go with it.
It was exciting, going out with him and spending more time with him before he has to leave.
In a very short time I started feeling a lot of things for Logan. He makes me happy and he knows how to please me, worshiping my whole body and not leaving an inch of my skin without touching it.
He made me fall for him.
After Bastian arrived and we packed everything we needed, we got installed on the camper, checking everything and making sure we didn't forget anything.
"We should go buy groceries" I said. "There's a small fridge here"
He nodded and started to drive using his phone as a GPS. When he parked I smile, kissing his cheek.
"I'll go, you can stay here and unpack the things" I smiled.
"Alright" he smiled, kissing my lips.
Our trip was something spontaneous. We planned things while we drove, stopping every time we saw something interesting and parking in front of a beach to spend the night.
Being with him felt so good. It was a feeling I never had when I dated in secret all those guys before my family discovered everything I did at school.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" I asked him, grabbing my laptop.
"Mhm, which one?" he smiled, laying on the bed on his stomach.
"What about… this one" I said, showing the one that caught my attention. "It's a movie by Lyanna Michel. I saw some of her movies before"
"Oh? I know her" he casually said
"What?! Really?" I gasped, looking at him surprised.
"Y-yeah" he laughed. "We used to be neighbors in London"
"No way" I laugh. "For real? That's amazing!"
He laughed and nodded, wrapping his arm around my waist as always, and resting his chin on my shoulder while placing kisses on my skin.
We watched the move, the one she recorded in Monaco. It was a romcom, something I never imagined she would make.
"Logan?" I whisper, feeling his fingers on my waist. "I'm ready"
"What? Ready for what? Sleep?" he frowned, making me laugh.
"No, idiot" I laughed. "Sex. I mean… I don't have the bandage anymore… and I bought condoms"
"Lily…" he sighed, pressing his lips on mine. "You have no idea how bad I want you"
"I think I do" I whisper on his lips.
All nights we laid in bed naked, touching each other, discovering our bodies. And now we are going to become one, finally.
"I need you, Logan" I whispered, undressing him while he did the same to me.
"I'm here" he whispered. "I'm not leaving"
That night, as the next ones, we made love. It wasn't a needy sex, something rough and fast. We took our time to feel each other and it really made me fall.
Fall in love with him.
"Logan? What are we?" I whisper, getting the courage to ask that question that has been around my mind for a while.
"What do you mean?" he whispered, holding my hand and kissing my temple.
"I mean… us" I sighed. "I know there's something. I have feelings for you, really strong feelings. I can't deny it anymore"
"Lily…" he sighed. "I'll leave. I don't want to hurt you"
"I know" I mumble. That means he doesn't want to be anything, right? I'm only a summer fling. "Yeah, you are right"
I sighed and turned around, laying on my side and trying to create a small space between us.
"Come on, Lily" he sighed, hugging me. "I just… I like you, yeah. But I don't want to keep this as a long distance relationship. What if it doesn't work?"
"What if it does?" I whisper. "What if I'm falling hard for you? What if I like you and I want to be with you?"
"Lily… I'm not good" he whispered, kissing my shoulder. "I will be away, I can't come here again"
"Why not?" I frown. "Logan… Let's try?"
He sighed and kissed my shoulder, holding my hand after that. He doesn't want anything with me?
"It's because I was engaged, right? Because I am a runaway bride and left before the wedding?" I mumble. "It's that?"
"No, of course it is not" he sighed, squeezing my hand. "It's… I'm afraid, that's all"
"Afraid of what?" I frowned, turned around to look at him.
"Of you not liking being with me" he sighed.
"Logan… I spent all day with you and I like being next to you" I whisper. "I just want it to last longer…"
"Okay" he whispered, kissing my lips. "Yeah. We'll try"
I smile and hug him, taking a deep breath and breathing his scent. I discovered henreally uses expensive perfumes, and the one he brought to the trip was my favorite of them.
"Sleep, Lily" he whispered. "Tomorrow it's your turn to drive"
I closed my eyes, sleeping in the arms of the man I'm falling in love with.
The next morning I felt the bed empty. He wasn't here, and the cold spot on the bed made me realize he got up a while ago.
"Logan?" I called him, grabbing his shirt and some clean panties and putting them on me.
I rubbed my eyes and stretched my body before getting out of the bed and walking around the small camper, searching for him.
"No, Jon. I will stay here for a while. I need time for myself, no one can know I'm here" I heard him say. "I promise I'll be in Zandvoort days before it, but I really need to be unfocused"
"Logan?" I called him, grabbing the sandals and walking towards him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"I have to go, I'll talk to you later" he sighed, ending the call. "Hey, how did you sleep?"
"Nice" I nodded. "What is today's plan?"
"You said we are close to Athena's temple, right?" he smiled. "Then we can go there"
"Alright" I smile. "Will you make breakfast?"
"I actually bought it" he smirked. "I had a call from a friend and then I went to buy some things to that cafeteria near the beach"
I nod and look around. We were nearly Nafpaktos, a city with a beach, an hour away from our destination.
"This feels nice" I said smiling, stretching a little and looking at him, taking a step closer and hugging him.
"It does, yeah"  he whispered, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and kissing my head.
We had breakfast in silence, sitting at the edge of the door and looking at the sunrise. It felt so magical, being wrapped on his arms while drinking a warm coffee.
Waking up with Logan I discovered that he's always cold. He loves to wear hoodies no matter what. Here in the camper, even if it's warm inside, he likes to be cozy with his hoodie, driving while jamming with the songs he chooses. I discovered that he loves that type of music they play at festivals.
"You and I like opposite music" I laughed looking at him, sitting on the passenger seat hugging my legs.
"That's true" he nodded.
"Well, they say that opposite attracts, right?" I smiled, holding his free hand and playing with his fingers.
Logan is someone that once he's comfortable with you, he won't stop touching you. His love language is touch, definitely. And I absolutely loved it.

Watching Lily drive is something else. She learned how to drive in Greece. Whenever the traffic was near, I could hear her curse in Greek.
"Malaka" she groaned, holding the steering wheel tightly.
"Hey, relax" I laughed, massaging her shoulders from behind.
"No, dude! But look at that!" she groaned pointing to the front. "He the hell you can do something like that!"
"You never went to Rome, right?" I laughed. "It's worse than here"
"I'm happy with where I am" she sighed. "God, I really can't handle this"
"Hey, take a deep breath" I smiled, kissing her head.
She groaned, making me chuckle softly.
During the night we hold each other in the back of the camper, on the bed, she tells me about her past. About his she had to swallow everything she wanted to say, how she had to walk with her head down. Her parents planned everything since the day she was born: where she was going to study and what she would study, what would be her position in the family business and who she would marry. They never let her be free.
And every second she talked about her past, confessing to me how her life was, it made me feel more guilty.
She trusts me. And I'm just playing with her trust.
But it was never my intention. Who was going to tell me that I was going to fall in love with her? Who was going to tell me that the only thing I want to do is wake up next to her for the rest of my life?
I fell in love with her and there's no way she will forgive me.
I tried everything to not let it happen. I reminded myself that I shouldn't love her. That I will leave next week and that it would be impossible to keep contact.
But every second of the day she reminded me that it was worth it. That falling in love with her was something I can let happen. I don't care if she loves Logan. If I have to be Logan to be with her, I will be Logan.
Going to the ruins with her was something magical. She tells me everything she knows about the places, about the God the old civilization made this temple for. She told me how it used to look, drawing it in her notebook.
Looking at her talk like that made me fall deeply in love with her.
"What are you looking at?" she chuckled looking at me.
"At your silly face" I joked, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and keeping her close to me.
Because being with her makes me happy. With her I'm not Lando Norris, the McLaren driver. With her I don't have to act how they want me to act. With Lily I can be who I really am, and I can feel safe and relaxed.
"We should start the trip back to Parga" I sighed, looking at my phone.
My day of going back to work is near. I have to be back in the car in two weeks, and I have to go back to the simulator as soon as possible.
But I don't want to. I try to ignore the calls of the rest of the drivers. I try to ignore that world of seep and money, of people wanting my attention and acting like they are interested in me.
They are not Lily.
"Right" she smiled weakly, laying on the bed and looking through the window. "Will you miss me?"
"What type of question is that?" I chuckled while laying next to her.
"A sincere question" she whispered. "Will you miss me once you leave?"
"Of course, I'll miss you, Lily" I whispered, kissing her shoulder. "I'll miss being with you. I'll miss waking up next to you all mornings and going to sleep next to you all nights"
"I wish you didn't have to leave" she mumbled, turning around and hugging me, hiding her face on my chest.
"I have to work, Lily…" I sighed, rubbing her back.
"I know" she mumbled. "I just… I wish we could have more time"
"Yeah" I sighed. "I wish that too"
A silence fell between us. I had to look down at her, thinking she was asleep. But her eyes slightly open, her fingers drawing shapes on my skin and her breath hitting my chest softly. I could hear her thinking, making her mind work with something that is bothering her.
"Logan?" she whispered, not looking up at me.
"Hm?"
"I… I think I love you" she whispered.
"I think I love you too" I answered, kissing her forehead, swallowing thickly afterwards.
What have you done, Lando?

Unwanted: Chapter 9, Unselfish - Pt.
Warnings: (For this part only; see Story Masterlist for general Warnings) Language, Jade Carthage (now officially a warning!), petty behavior on both sides, oblivious!Bucky, jealousy, insecurity.
Word Count: 2.1k
Previously On...: While on a cute little coffee date, you gave Bucky your seal of approval to start training Jade. You trust him and his love for you. This is definitely not the worst decision you've ever made in your entire life that will probably end up haunting your nightmares. Nope, not at all.
A/N: If I was Pocket, and this was real life (ah, if only!), I don't think I would have made it this far with Bucky (let's be real, though, no one in my real life is that good looking, or that seductively tragic). I would have washed my hands of him all the way back in Chapter Six, but! this is fiction, and fiction needs drama. Welcome to The Drama. We're glad to have you here. Mainly so that we don't have to suffer alone. All that to say, I definitely don't advocate for putting up with the kind of behavior Bucky will be displaying from this point forward. Toxic behavior is acceptable only in fiction, and only when we can recognize that it's toxic, and not something to emulate in real life.
Banner By: The absolutely amazing @mrsbuckybarnes1917!
Thank you to all those who have been reading; if you like what you've read, likes, comments, and reblogs give me life, and I truly appreciate them, and you!

You weren’t going to admit it, but you regretted giving your okay to Bucky training Jade almost immediately. If she wasn’t asking him for extra training sessions, she was calling him with some stupid request or another.
First, it was that the lights in her room weren’t working:
“It was weird,” said Bucky when he’d come back from looking at them. “All the bulbs in her room were loose. Only thing I needed to do was tighten them.”
You kept your mouth shut, simply arching an eyebrow at him and hoping he genuinely believed that.
Next, she was constantly wanting to eat with him. “She’s lonely,” Bucky had told you when he’d left to have breakfast with her for the fourth morning in a row. “She hasn’t made many friends here yet. I’m just keeping her company.”
You let it slide; it was just breakfast following training, after all, and you were usually already at work by then. You still had lunch and dinner with him everyday.
Until she started sitting next to him at dinner, as well. At first, it wasn’t that big of deal; she was just a body at the table, and you could ignore her with no problems. But she slowly began monopolizing Bucky’s attention throughout the meals, asking him questions about combat training, protocols, any and everything innocuous and Avengers-related that made you feel like you couldn’t speak up against it without coming off as irrationally jealous.
After three evenings of being completely iced out of their conversation, you started engaging solely with Steve. It wasn’t your classiest move, knowing how Steve felt about you (and how Bucky felt about the way Steve felt about you) and using it for your own advantage, but he was still your friend, your family; it would have been weirder if you hadn’t spoken to him, at all. Of course, Bucky noticed this, and in seemingly no time at all, dinner returned to its normal dynamic, though you felt guilty about your behavior and tried to include Steve more than you had before.
But soon, she took lunches, too, and you couldn’t really find away around that.
Then she was complaining that the Tower was so boring and could he show her around the city? At least Bucky always insisted that you accompany him if he was going to go somewhere with Jade. It wasn’t your ideal way of spending the diminishing amount of time you had with Bucky, but you tried to make the best of it, though she went out of her way to make jabs and backhanded comments at your expense.
“It was so generous for Stark to have paid for your college education,” she cooed when you were all walking around Central Park together. “I can’t imagine what you must have done to warrant such generosity.”
“I’ve paid him back tenfold by working for him,” you told her through clenched teeth. You were usually able to brush off these disguised accusations with ease, but there was something about Jade’s insinuation that your relationship with Tony had some sort of seedy beginning that filled you with white hot rage.
“Oh, I’m sure you’ve worked very hard to get where you are today,” she oozed. “I bet Stark had you practically crawling on all fours to get you in your position.”
You felt the blood rising to your cheeks as anger flowed through you. You shot Bucky a glance, looking for him to tell her off, to defend you, something, but if he noticed the hidden barb in her words, he gave no indication of it.
“Pocket’s a genius,” he said instead, beaming at you and kissing the crown of your head. “Stark knew she was the best of the best, so it makes perfect sense that he would do whatever he needed to do to get her on his team. What was it you said, sweets? He got a good return on his investment in you.”
From outside of Bucky’s line of sight, Jade rolled her eyes, not pleased that her subtle attack hadn’t had its desired effect.
“Oh, Sarge,” she cried, grabbing on to his arm and tugging him away toward the pond, “look at the ducklings! Let’s go see them!” Now it was your turn to roll your eyes as Bucky turned to you with a shrug, as if to say “what can I do?” as he let Jade drag him away.
Annoyed, you chose not to follow, instead, walking along the path to buy yourself a hot pretzel from a nearby vendor.
“Hard being the third wheel when your friends are on a date, huh?” the vendor asked with a chuckle as he handed you your drink order.
“Excuse me?” you asked, pausing in the process of putting mustard on your pretzel. “That’s actually my boyfriend.”
The vendor looked taken aback. “You sure about that, honey?” He nudged his chin in the direction of the pond, where Jade was hanging onto Bucky’s arm as though he were a life preserver and pointing enthusiastically at the ducklings.
“Yes, I’m sure,” you snapped, grabbing your items and turning away from the rude man. You found yourself a bench where you could observe the two of them from a distance.
You had finished your pretzel and your iced tea before Bucky seemed to notice you weren’t alongside him. You crossed your arms over your chest and watched as he looked around for you, his face beginning to show panic when he couldn’t find you right away. Jade seemed to try to calm him down, but he wasn’t having any of it.
There was a small part of you, not so deep inside, that you weren’t proud of, that was glad to see him freak out at not being able to find you. Serves him right for ignoring you for her. You watched as Bucky jogged back to where he had last seen you on the path, calling your name, Jade following behind him.
“She probably just went back to the Tower,” you heard her say to him. “Why don’t we just enjoy the rest of our day, and you can meet up with her later? No point in letting her ruin our fun,” she added.
“Absolutely not,” Bucky snapped at her. “She wouldn’t do that! Fuck. I shouldn’t have gotten distracted.” He pulled out his phone and you knew he was going to call you.
You answered the phone before your ringtone could even begin. “Yes?” you asked, your voice cold.
“Baby! God, where are you?! I turned around and you were gone! I was worried sick.”
“I’m exactly where you left me half an hour ago, Barnes,” you said. “The two of you looked so fucking cozy; I didn’t want to interrupt your little date.”
You watched as his head shot up, scanning the path until he saw you sitting on your bench. When your eyes met, the relief on his face was unmistakable. You disconnected the call and sat waiting for him to make the next move.
He ran toward you, getting down on his knees in front of you before throwing his arms around you and pulling you into him.
“God, doll,” he murmured into your hair. “You were right behind us, and when I turned around after a second, you weren’t there, all I could think was that something terrible had happened to you.”
You glanced behind his shoulder to see Jade, hip cocked and arms across her chest, looking annoyed. “I didn’t mean to make you worry; I just got a pretzel. But that’s the thing, Buck,” you said as you pulled back from him, “I didn’t follow you at all and it took you thirty fucking minutes to notice.”
His face fell as the realization hit him. “Thirty minutes? Fuck. ‘m so sorry, Pocket,” he said, sincerity lacing his voice as he ran a hand through his hair. “That was shit of me. I don’t have an excuse.” He took your hands in his.
“See,” Jade said as she came up behind him, “she’s fine. Just being dramatic. I told you not to worry about her.”
“Vix,” Bucky said without looking at her, “go back to the Tower.” His voice was low and gruff as he spoke to her.
“What, like, by myself?” she asked, shocked that he would suggest such a thing.
“Yes. Alone.” Bucky said. When she made no motion to leave, he turned to look at her. “Now!” he growled before turning back to you.
“Fine, I’m going,” she said as she started to walk away, but not before sneering at you and flipping you the bird.
Once he was confident she was out of earshot, Bucky stood up and came to sit next to you on the bench. “This is the kinda shit you’ve been worrying about, isn’t it?" he asked you.
You didn’t respond for a while, just looked at him, trying to get your words in order. “I told you that I’m not going to control who can or can’t be friends with, Bucky,” you said eventually. “And I do still mean that. I don’t control you– no one controls you. But no girl is going to love seeing their boyfriend go off with someone else and completely forget about them.” You took a deep, sad sigh. “It hurts, Buck. It makes me feel like… like you only brought me with you out of some kind of obligation, and you’d rather I wasn’t here.” He tried to say something, but you kept talking. “I’m not saying that was your intention; I know it wasn’t. That’s just what it feels like. And maybe I’m being irrational, overly jealous. Maybe I’m being selfish. I don’t know. I’ve never done this before, this relationship thing. Ever. I’m just kinda… flying blind here.” You blinked away some tears that were threatening to fall. “Maybe I am too dependent on you. Maybe you’d be better off with someone who has their shit together and doesn’t freak out whenever another girl gets near you.” You shrugged your shoulders, feeling defeated.
Bucky fiercely wrapped his arms around you, squeezing you to his chest. “Stop,” he said, his voice almost a sob. “Stop saying things like that. It’s not true. I am begging you, never think that’s true. Pozhaluysta, lyubov' moya.” Please, my love. Bucky’s voice was raspy, as though he were choking back tears of his own. “Ty — vse, chto ya kogda-libo khotel. Vse, chto mne nado.” You are everything I ever wanted. Everything I need. “You make me so damned grateful that I fell off that train,” he whispered.
You pulled your head back, studying him in surprise. “Buck, you don’t mean that. You can’t mean that, not after everything—”
“It’s the truth,” he told you, hands coming up to cup your face, making sure you were looking at him, really looking at him. “If I hadn’t fallen, I’d have probably died in a German trench long before you’d ever been born, and the idea of it makes me sick. And everything—everything-that happened after, all of that led me to you. I can’t resent a single second of it, because it brought me here, now. Do you understand how fucking precious that makes you? How fucking special you are?”
You stared at him, stunned at his revelation. Bucky took your silence as an opportunity to pull you into him in a bruising, desperate kiss. If you’d been more self-aware, you’d have pulled back, embarrassed at being so brazen with your affection in public, but all you could do was kiss him back with every ounce of love you felt for him. And it felt so absolutely right.
Far too soon for your liking, you both had to come up for breath. Pressing your foreheads together, Bucky sighed contentedly. “What do you need me to do? I’ll do anything you need, you know that, right?”
You nodded, the movement of your head bringing his along with it and you both giggled. “I know,” you said. “Maybe no more outside-the-Tower excursions?” you asked timidly, hoping it wasn’t too big a request. “Or, if you still want to do them, maybe I don’t come with you? Being around her sets me off. It’s too much ”
“Consider them ended,” he said, without hesitation or pause. “Not even a question. I wouldn’t even consider going out of the Tower with her without you with me, and I’m not going to force you to spend time with her.”
“I’m so sorry,” you said softly. “I feel like such a controlling bitch.”
“No, baby, no.” He tucked your head under his chin as he held you to him. “That is the exact opposite of what you are.” You believed him, you really did, but it did nothing to quell the disgust you felt with yourself.

A Thing Of Vikings Chapter 88: Systems Of Direction
Tumblr media
Chapter 88: Systems Of Direction
…another factor in the effectiveness of both decision-making and law enforcement is entrenched interests and their associated corruptive influence.
These originate from a simple principle: In any large formal organization of people, there will generally be two types of people of consequence—those who are motivated to help fulfill the purposes of that organization and those who work for the structure and institutional power of that organization.  Over time, the latter group comes to dominate the management structure of the organization, due to their interests and personal direction, combined with the fact that the people who actively wish to fulfill the purpose of the organization will be reluctant to give up those direct duties.  This is not always a bad thing—a truly gifted organizer can have a multiplicative effect on the efforts of the organization—but in general, the end result will be that the people invested in the institutional power of the organization will gain control of it and dictate the functions of it.  And it is rare that such individuals will give up control over the resulting fiefdoms, even if their refusal to relinquish control ends up damaging the actual effectiveness and goal-fulfillment of the organization that they command.
So doctors who wish to heal will go on with the treatment of patients—and above them will be doctors who are less concerned about the patients, but more concerned with the health of their hospital's finances (and possibly their own).  And government officials who wish to aid with the welfare of their communities will be examining roads and homes and food and other infrastructure, but their superiors will be more concerned with the power of their offices.
If left alone long enough, such systems often breed literal dynasties of institutionalists through nepotism—indeed, we get the word nepotism from the Latin word nepōs, for nephew, noting how the Popes of the Catholic Church would elevate their nephews and other blood relatives to high offices in the Church's bureaucracy, including that of cardinal—who then, in turn, would elect the next Pope from among their number, perpetuating the system.  Meanwhile, far below them in the hierarchy were the humble parish priests, administering to their flocks.
This tendency of all organized systems of management must be actively guarded against in order to diminish corruptive effects on the efficacy and speed of decision making, as such individuals often form bottlenecks in the decision-making process, either through incompetence or through willful obstinacy. Considerations of law enforcement are also paramount, as being in a position of power often gives them significant chances for corruption and self-dealing, which are often acted upon.

Safe and Sound: Part 3.5 Filler Chapter
Series Masterlist
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x female!reader slow burn
TW:allusions to abuse, fluff, this is pretty tame tbh
Summary: Things start closing in on you and hiding the truth from Bradley is proving more and more difficult.
Word count: like 700
A/N: there’s no real progress in this part, it’s mosntly just a filler to lead into the rest of the story and provide a little time skip and context. The next chapter will start digging into the plot a little more. Also the Taglists are getting difficult to manage so if I forget you, I’m sorry.
Tumblr media
Over the next couple of months, Bradley sleeping over becomes a regular occurrence. It's not unusual for him to show up on your doorstep with flowers and your favorite candy, ready to watch movies until you start to doze off. He even bought matching pajamas and a healing crystal to ward off nightmares.
Whether it's the newest addition to your nightstand or the warm burly man in your bed, you don’t know. But the nightmares are becoming less frequent and easier to wake up from when they do occur. Bradley never mentions that first night again and you’re grateful. There’s an unspoken understanding that he knows what the dream was about, and you’re grateful he doesn’t try to dig for details.
During the day you’ve been busying yourself with work, picking up extra shifts whenever they’re available, and hanging out with the Daggers when you’re able. They’ve accepted you into the group with ease, and you’re happy to have found your own little family.
They’ve all got a running bet on how long it’ll be before you and Bradley become official, noticing how he never seems to be more than a few feet away from you. They don’t miss the way you search for him when something happens or the way he keeps a protective arm wrapped around you whenever you’re within reach.
None of them know the truth about why you moved here, Bradley being the only one you’ve let close enough to get a glimpse into your past. Despite how close you’ve grown, even he doesn’t know a fraction of the whole story. But he knows enough to change the subject whenever someone starts trying to get more information.
He’s well aware of the way your breathing speeds up and your eyes gloss over when people poke into your past, and he’s gone as far as telling the rest of the group not to bring it up. It became more difficult to ignore when you freaked out on Jake one night.
You’re laughing loudly with Bradley and Natasha while sipping on your second cocktail when Jake's voice rings out.
“Okay, smile everybody!” He’s holding his phone out and you grin widely without giving it a second thought. He makes a comment about posting the picture to Instagram and your eyes widen.
“No!” You shout and everyone stops to look at you.
“Don’t worry, you look fine.” He jokes but you don’t laugh. You lunge for the phone in a panic and Jake frowns.
“Don’t post that Jake, I’m serious!” You beg on the verge of tears. The blonde pilot glances at Bradley who seems equally confused at your reaction. He nods his head slowly and puts his phone away.
“Okay, I won’t post it anywhere. I promise.” He says cautiously, but it's too late. You’re breathing rapidly and your eyes are frenzied. You feel arms wrap around you and fight against the person frantically.
“Hey, hey, it's just me sweetheart. Let's go outside.” He suggests and you choke on a sob as he carries you out the front door. The rest of the team look at each other, confusion and concern written clearly on their features.
Once Bradley gets you outside, you collapse into his arms as wails tear from your throat. He knows it's not the right time, but he can’t go on seeing you like this without knowing why.
“Why can’t he post a photo of you?” He whispers and you shake your head.
“Honey you’re going to have to open up at some point.” He sighs and you only cry harder. He hugs you tighter and you try your best to respond.
“No one can know where I am.” You gasp and the pieces click together. You don’t want someone to find the photo and use it to track you down. At this point, Bradley isn’t sure if you’re running from someone or something you’ve done.
“Okay, you’re safe.” He murmurs while rocking you back and forth until you’ve calmed down.
The conversation doesn’t go further than that but you know you’re not going to be able to keep your secrets for much longer.

Chapter 36
Parings: Steve Kemp x Noa

Alternative ending to Fresh were Steve wins against the fight between Noa, Molly and Penny
Warnings: Dom/sub, Psychopath, Kidnapping, Cannibalism, Captive, Handcuffs, Medical torture, Light bondage, Blood, Controlling

Noa didn’t sleep well that night. Her mind was fixated on Steve and his work. She felt like an idiot, turning up at that practice and asking for her husband who didn’t even work there. Then she felt guilty for accusing Steve of lying. He had done nothing but help Noa since the accident, comforting her when she was feeling low, helping her with every memory he could. The whole thing was getting to her, and she felt like she was going crazy. No doubt the woman behind the desk in the practice thought she was.
Steve had his arm wrapped around her tightly all night, the warmth of his body comforting Noa as she couldn’t sleep and she laid there awake, staring forwards into the darkness. His low breaths were soothing. She had the urge to pee and so she tried to slip out of Steve's tight grip, his arm only tightening as she moved, and he murmured under his breath.
“Don’t” he grumbled, and she smiled down at him.
“I have to pee” she whispered, and he chuckled, releasing her from his grip.
“Fine, but hurry” he said half asleep and Noa padded to the bathroom. Upon looking at herself in the mirror, she noticed the heavy dark bags under her eyes, the puffiness in her cheeks. All this worrying was for nothing. Steve wasn’t even mad at her for accusing him, but Noa couldn’t shake the feeling off her. She was letting this get to her to easily. Right now, her mind was her worst enemy.
After splashing some cold water on her face, she padded back into bed, Steve immediately wrapping himself around her, kissing her shoulder softly and Noa snuggled into the pillows, finally catching some sleep.
“Did you get any sleep last night?” Steve asked that morning in the kitchen.
“Some, think I was just thinking about what happened yesterday” she sighed.
“Noa, I told you I’m not mad, and it’s not your fault” he assured her.
“I know, I know, I just… feel bad” she whispered, and Steve cupped her cheek.
“Well don’t, okay. And I promise from now on not to forget my lunch” he held a hand to his heart and Noa giggled, leaning up to kiss him.
“I’ll see you after work” he murmured lovingly to her before jogging out the house to head to work.
Some fresh air would do Noa some good, so she decided to take an extra-long walk with Bobby, plugging in her headphones. There was a beautiful trail leading around a woodland area where dogs could be let off and was quiet. Bobby trotted happily next to Noa, his tongue out and tail wagging, nose sniffing the ground as if he was scouting out the many squirrels that lived around the woods. He was not the biggest fan of them.
As Noa walked the trail, she noticed a small stand with two young ladies behind. One had long brown hair and the other short blonde hair. There were flyers and what looked to be small cupcakes on a silver tray. As she walked closer, she noticed a small sign on the front.
Town Bake Sale.
Noa and Steve mostly kept to themselves in the neighbourhood. They didn’t go to the many fundraisers or events that the town council members put on. After the accident and Noa’s recovery, she spent most of the time inside, healing her leg and arm and since then she hadn’t explored much of her neighbourhood.
Noa shuffled up to the stand, taking a little look at the tasty looking cupcakes.
“Hi there” the lady with blonde hair greeted and Noa slipped her headphones out to hear properly.
“Hi, are you having a bake sale?” she asked.
“Yes, we’ll officially tomorrow at the town hall but today we’re just promoting it, please have a cake, Lucy made them herself, we’re raising money for the children’s hospital” she said kindly and Noa picked one up. It had blue icing with silver little balls and was piped perfectly in a swirl. She took a bite and the sweet vanilla and sticky jam in the middle was heaven. She moaned in delight and looked up at the ladies.
“That’s amazing” she said.
“Oh, thank you, there’s going to be loads of baked goods tomorrow, brownies, cookies, pies” the one she assumed was Lucy said. Noa gobbled the last of the cake, wiping the small crumbs away with her tongue. It was so good she’d have another but refrained from. Perhaps the bake sale would be a good chance for her to get out.
“Do you have any space for another… I make these blueberry and white chocolate tray bakes that my husband loves” she asked, and the two ladies lit up.
“Of course, you’re welcome to join us, we start at nine but open at ten for the public, anything to raise money for the hospital”.
“Thanks, where is it?” Noa asked.
“The town hall… do you live locally?” Lucy inquired.
“Er yeah, just down the block actually, me and my husband Steve don’t get out much, but it would be nice to get out the house for a few hours” Noa smiled.
“Perfect, well I’m Lucy and this is Sarah” she pointed to the blonde lady.
“Noa” she introduced.
“Here, I’ll give you my number and if you have any questions then text me” Lucy said kindly.
“Thanks” they exchanged numbers and Noa smiled happily, feeling the tug of Bobby on the lead, she started to head off.
“I’ll see you tomorrow” she called back, and the girls waved back, shouting their goodbyes.
Noa couldn’t stop smiling when she got home, already rummaging through the cupboards to make sure she had everything to make the tray bake. They were so simple to make and didn’t take long. She’d be able to make them in the morning and have them freshly baked for the bake sale. She hoped the bake sale would give her the confidence to make friends in the neighbourhood and go out without her mind tricky her. Lucy and Sarah were so kind to invite her and let her bring her own dish she knew she had to repay them in a way. Luckily Noa had everything in to make the tray bake and she set them off to one side, an excitement buzzing inside her.
Later that day, Steve arrived home from work, running a hand through his hair and entered the kitchen to find Noa there already at the counter, chopping vegetables. He had a hard day at work and was ready to just relax with Noa. He could smell the cooking of dinner and it smelled delightful.
“Hey” he smiled, his mood instantly lighting up when he saw her. He was quick to walk over and peck her lips.
“Hi, how was work?” she asked, and he sighed heavily, pulling out two glasses and a bottle fo wine. Coffee wasn’t going to be enough for him tonight. He’d spent all day trying to anaesthetize Louise, but she just wasn’t going numb. It was frustrating for him, and he didn’t want to give a general anaesthetic. He gave up after the fourth attempt and put her back in her cell. She was way to panicked for him to do surgery on, so he decided to let her rest and try for another day. Then he had Kacey to deal with. Her constant fighting was becoming just as frustrating, but he couldn’t give her up yet, she had so much meat left on her that he needed fresh, and these clients will pay a lot of money for them.
“Busy, this one patient would go numb and then there was a fight breaking out in the reception so not what I was expecting today” he gulped down the glass of red wine, breathing heavily and turned to Noa, noticing a mischievous smile on her lips.
“How was your day, you seem happy about something” he turned to open the fridge, desperate for a snack. He noticed a couple of what Noa believed were chicken goujons but were actually bits of breast meat in breadcrumbs. He took one out and munched on it.
“Yeah, it was good. I took Bobby on a walk and then I saw these two girls handing out cakes for people to try. They’re running a bake sale tomorrow at the town hall” she said, the hard crunch of celery echoing through the kitchen. Steve went to pour another glass of wine, desperately thirsty.
“Oh really” he said.
“Yeah, in fact I’m going tomorrow, I’m going to make those blueberry and white chocolate squares you love” Steve froze, the wine bottle almost slamming on the counter, and he turned with furrowed brows.
“What!” he said in confusion, almost caught off guard.
“It’s for charity, they said they had space, so I thought I’d help them out, plus it’s a good chance for me to get out and actually know who our neighbours are” she giggled softly at the end.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea” he said in a serious tone and Noa stopped, the knife slipping from her hand, looking over to Steve with confusion on her face.
“What are you talking about?”.
“I just think it might be too much, you’re still recovering” he argued.
“How am I going to ever recover fully if I don’t go out, I’m not going to remember anything staring at the same walls everyday”.
“You need to take it easy, all those people, it’s too much for your mind” Noa glared at him, furrowing her brows.
“You don’t know that Steve, god I’m sick of being in this house all day long” she groaned.
“You’re not a doctor Noa I am, I know what’s going to help and this is not, you’re not going” Steve growled, his anger rising. He felt his knuckles tightening on the counter.
“Sure, isolating myself from everyone is good for me, you can’t tell me what to do” Noa didn’t realise she had stepped closer to Steve in her rage and Steve huffed loudly.
“I said no!” he shouted and Noa fell silent, staring at him. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The house turned silent, and Bobby had run off to his bed, curling into a tight ball watching the argument unfold. Steve sighed, rubbing a hand on his head.
“Look I just think I might be too much, and I don’t want anything to happen to yo-Noa!” Noa turned abruptly on her feet, storming out the kitchen and running up the stairs, the door slamming and shaking the house. Steve sighed, leaning over the counter, gripping the sides.
‘Fuck’ he thought. He went too far. But he wasn’t about to let Noa slip from him. granted he didn’t have much to worry about. The neighbourhood didn’t know him well, but anything was possible. What if someone recognised Noa, knew her before she went missing for the whole time Steve took her and had her locked up in the house miles from here. He couldn’t let that happen.

The Most Beautiful Puzzle: Chapter Sixteen/The End
Tumblr media
cw: overdose mention, murder mention, grief over loss of a loved one, ACAB, police negligence, police corruption, aftermath of violence resulting in permanent injury
You spend most of the next week asleep on Danny’s couch. The gash in your head heals as it should. The staples get taken out. Your hair is an uneven mess. When Danny’s mom finally helps you shave your head, you have to do it with just the two of you, because you don’t want anyone else to see you cry. You’re not vain, exactly, you don’t have to look perfect, but everyone’s going to be able to see the scarring skin and you’re already tired of the looks and whispers it’s going to bring. And then, September comes. And, of course, you continue your lease with Josselin, even though you can’t officially move back in quite yet. Josselin takes photos of your injuries and has you make a note of what happened that day, so you can’t forget in your medication haze. But after that, he never talks about the day you were kidnapped. You’re grateful. You’ll have to think about it more than enough whenever the trial takes place. You don’t see the Inspector. Dona, now, you guess. That’s going to take some getting used to. He’s about ten years older than you and Josselin are, and that’s not that much, but it’s going to be weird seeing him shift from an authority figure to an equal. Although your head heals enough to get the staples taken out, your ankle feels like it doesn’t heal at all. But, eventually, you have to leave Danny’s, even though he insists you can stay as long as you need to. You still have the trial with Drake you have to deal with, and you don’t know if any of his friends are out there looking for you, so you still have to be careful, if only for the sake of the people around you. Finally, a couple of weeks later, you’re able to get up and down the stairs with the assistance of your cane on one side and the banister on the other. You’ve been back home for a few days when Donatien and Pascal come to visit again. The four of you sit crammed together at the small dining room table. You dance around the subject for a while, but every time you get up, their eyes all drop to your ankle, and Pascal is trying very hard to not look at the horrible, still pink and red scar on your head. He’s not judging you. But it’s not what he’s used to, and Josselin has said a couple of times that Pascal struggles with change. After about a half hour of carefully avoiding the subject, Dona drops it on you. “Do you want to meet Miss Miles’s parents?”

This is the final chapter! We've reached the end! Thank you so much my lovelies for coming along this journey with me! It was a new but great experience, and I'm hoping to revisit this world again in the future if I can think of more mysteries for them to solve!

It’s Always Been You pt 7
(Kyoya x Male Reader)
Chapter seven
-Jungle Pool SOS-
The palm trees glisten, the sun shines a warm glow. And in the middle of this tropical paradise, resides the host club, lounging on pool chairs.
Haruhi is looking out onto the scenery, and up behind her is Tamaki.
“Behold Haruhi.” He puts a hand on her shoulder.
“Bask in the beauty of tropical birds!  Aren’t they breathtaking? I wonder what they’re called..” Tamaki spoke.
 Now sitting on a chair.
“Um… where was the exit again?” Haruhi tiredly asked.
“Try to make the most of this down time and just relax. We’re so worried about keeping our good looks day and night, we deserve a little vacation.” Tamaki spoke, holding a drink.
“Personally I think this is pointless and a waste of time, so can I go home now? I should be studying and I’ve got a ton of laundry to do today. Senpai, where are we anyway?” Haruhi complained.
“This place is a brand new theme park that my family, the Ootori group runs. It’s called the ‘Tropical Aqua Garden’.”
Kyoya explained. Haruhi turned to look at him.
“I don’t understand. I thought the Ootori group ran hospitals and that they’re focused on the medical business Kyoya senpai?”
“Yes, but my family likes to diversify and try different things. Besides, this place could be classified as a healing facility.”
Haruhi still looked confused at Kyoya.
“It’s therapeutic. Think of all the people that are overworked that would love a vacation in the south tropics. However, they may not be able to take the time off or they may not have the money to do so. Those people can now seek refuge here at this theme park and reduce their stress levels. The Ootori group’s primary concern has always been for the good health and well being of the general public.” Kyoya pushes up his glasses, with a smile.
“The park doesn’t officially open until next month, but the host club was given an advance invitation.”
Tamaki runs a hand through his hair.
“This is so relaxing… we don’t have to worry about keeping our guests entertained, this is truly like a holiday for handsome young soldiers. I guess you would call it…” Tamaki calmly spoke.
“For once Haruhi just take a break, the world isn’t going to end if you do.” Y/n spoke, sitting cross leg on one of the chairs.
“Haruhi! You wanna go check out the water slide?” Kaoru walked up to her.
“Hang on, what’s the deal with that pull over your wearing?” Hikaru spoke.
“Oh this thing?” She pulled on the yellow hoodie.
“Tamaki couldn’t stand Haruhi wearing anything ‘scandalous’ in front of a group of guys.” Y/n dryly spoke.
The twins look back at Haruhi.
“So you’re not gonna swim with us?” Hikaru questioned.
“Hold on, you do know how to swim don’t you?”
“I can swim just as good as the next guy, this just isn’t my idea of fun. I’m not all that big on water parks. We’re just gonna spend all day goofing off. Honestly, I’d rather be at home. I mean all you really need to play in water is a plastic pool.” Haruhi complained.
“A plastic pool, what’s that?” The twins questioned.
“Let’s see, I guess they’re about this big.” She moved her hands to show a circle.
“Round, and to use it you have to pump it full of air.”
“You dunce.” Hikaru states.
 “That’s an inflatable boat dummy.”
“There’s no way something that small can be used as a pool.”
 “Yeah.”
“Guys it’s a small pool! Haven’t you ever seen little kids playing in one!” Haruhi started getting more irritated.
Tamaki quickly pulls the twins to the side for a ‘private’ discussion.
Haruhi looks over to Y/n with an exasperated look.
“You have to know what I’m talking about.”
He paused for a moment before speaking with a lazy smile.
“No idea what youre talking about.”
“Haru-chan!” Honey grabs onto Haruhi’s arm.
“Let’s play! You wanna go swimming in the current pool with me?”
“No, I’m not gonna swim today. Hold on.” Haruhi looks down on Honey, looking at the pink circle pool floaty around his waist.
“You know how to swim, so do you really need that floaty?” Haruhi questioned.
 Honey shakes his head.
“Just looks cuter this way, y’know?” He giggled and pranced over to the pool.
“You’re right, those bunnies are pretty cute.” Haruhi complimented.
“He’s so innocent.” The twins happily spoke.
“No way! You got it all wrong!”
A voice thundered across the resort.
 Renge appears on a platform.
“Wait, is that Renge?” Haruhi looks around.
“Who else would make an entrance like that?” Y/n states.
Renge laughs, she’s wearing a purple two piece, with a matching umbrella. And a weird tattoo on her stomach.
“How does she do that? It’s like the rig followed us..” Haruhi starts nervously sweating.
“That outfit’s pretty impressive.” Hikaru spoke.
“What’s with the tattoo on your stomach?” Kaoru narrowed his eyes.
“Oh that? You don’t recognize it? I'm cosplaying!” Renge explained.
 “Yeah, as who?” Hikaru continued.
 “La-la!” She proudly answered.
“Like the manga magazine?” Kaoru spoke, the name ringing a bell.
“Her petite and slender frame! Her blue eyes that light up young men’s faces! Her singing voice! I am Quon Kisaragi.” She happily rambles.
“I wouldn’t have guessed.” Haruhi plainly spoke.
“I had no idea who you were supposed to be.” Tamaki truthfully spoke.
Renge goes over to Haruhi, excitedly posing showing off her cosplay.
While the twins crouch down with the prince.
“Hey boss, are you sure it’s okay for Renge to be dressed like that?” The twins whispered.
“Well yeah, that’s okay.” Tamaki whispered back.
“And why is that?” Hikaru furrowed his brow.
“Because it’s cosplay.. I guess.” Tamaki spoke unsure of his answer.
“Listen up boys!” Renge yells.
“Obviously you need to understand Haninozuka’s hidden motives!” She points at the boy in question.
Honey jumps into the pool, blissfully unaware of the rest of the eyes now on him.
“What are you talking about?” Tamaki spoke in disbelief.
“Think about what he said earlier.” She states.
‘Just looks cuter this way, y’know?’
Shock floods through the Twins, Tamaki and Haruhi, at honey's unlining motivations.
“That’s Haninozuka for you! In the last chapter he felt threatened by another loli boy type so he’s taken steps to keep his rank. I should give him more credit. He’s a lot smarter than I thought.”
Renge disappears from her platform taking her back down to the ground.
“Hey look at this everybody! Check it out! Look, even though we’re swimming really fast we never go any further than we are now!” Honey happily explained, as he was on Mori’s back.
The host club whips their heads, with a sense of dread.
Tamaki gets pulled back into reality, by a harsh shot of water to his face, from none other than the twins.
“I got you.” Hikaru teased, with a devilish grin.
“Cmon boss, let’s go and have a water fight.” Kaoru spoked.
“It’ll be me and Kaoru against you, and if you get sprayed in the face you lose.” Hikaru explains.
Tamaki wiped his face off with a towel.
“Forget it, why would I subject myself to such childish games.” Tamaki rudely declined.
The twins look at each other, and suddenly Hikaru pulls Haruhi over to them.
“Haruhi I think it’s about time we get married.” Hikaru cooed.
“Then we’ll honeymoon in Atami.” Kaoru smirked, adding more fuel to the fire.
Tamaki swipes the water gun, and starts harshly pumping the gun.
“Do you really think I'd let Haruhi marry you two!” He looks at the twins, who are anxious at his reaction.
“Daddy says no!” He chases the twins, now out for blood.
“Kyoya, Wanna bet on who gets hurt first?” Y/n tilts his head with a smirk.
“What would be the benefit for that?” He looks up from his book.
“How about this, whoever bets wrong owes the other a favor.” Y/n offered.
“Do we have a deal?” He smiles.
“You’ve piqued my interest.” Kyoya agrees.
“Alright then, my moneys on Tamaki.” Y/n vaguely gestures towards the blonde hunting down the twins.
And as he did Tamaki yelled.
“That’s cheating!” Tamaki slipped and bashed his head on a totem pole face first.
The totem made a clicking noise like a button. As soon after loud beeping noise blurts from it. And the current wave begins making harsher and more aggressive waves.
 “That was quick.” Y/n joked.
Honey is still having the time of his life in the wave pool, giggling unaware of the looming danger.
A glass shattered, as Mori dropped his glass, noticing the situation.
“Huh?” Honey, confused, gets suddenly trampled by the wave, launching his floaty in the air, he screams for help.
 “Honey-senpai!” Haruhi yelled.
“Mitsukuni!”
Honey gets dragged away by the sharp waves, getting farther and farther from the group. Mori hastily tried to chase after Honey, however the ground had other ideas and made the man stumble and tripped.
“Gentlemen! We’re going after Honey-senpai! That pool looks like it goes that way, charge!” Tamaki and the club run past Kyoya, and Y/n.
“Wait, i wouldn’t go-“ Kyoya gets interrupted by a chorus of screams now running the opposite direction.
“There are alligators in there!” Tamaki shirked.
They run towards another pool only to be ment with the same fate as the last.
“What’s.. with.. all the.. alligators” Haruhi spoke through panted breath.
“Beats me too..” Tamaki also spoke out of breath.
“Those alligators belong to the parks tropical animals exhibit. Kind of dangerous to let them run wild. Though, the cause of our present situation seems to be of the switch for the current pool. I’ll have a little chat with our designers.” He wrote in his black notebook, and then snaps it closed.
“Thanks a lot you guys! I got some great data today.” He spoke with a cheerful tone.
“You What?” The group looks towards the two.
“This is a map of the Tropical Aqua Garden. This is our location, we need to get here, I have a feeling that’s where Honey-senpai ended up. To get there we have to make it through the southern jungle block. Distance wise we’re talking eight hundred meters.”
 He points towards the map.
“Looks like there’s a lot of underdeveloped areas, any idea what may be lurking there?” Haruhi questioned.
“Since they’re still being developed, I’m afraid I don’t know.” He calmly explained.
“Whatever is in those areas could be even more deadly than an alligator.” The twins dreaded.
The group began to tread the unknown land.
“Wow this is really like a real jungle!” Tamak praised.
“Yeah I keep hearing these animal calls.” Haruhi spoke.
“You don’t think those sounds could belong to the real thing?” The twins fearfully spoked, as bird calls came right after.
“To be honest I’m not sure, but I do know my family always strives for authenticity at any cost.” Kyoya mentioned not easing the twins' nerves.
“So we’re sacrificing Tamaki if we run into said animals. Right?” Y/n teased. Before Tamaki could protest, Mori tripped and fell, to the surprise of the group.
“Great Tamaki infected Mori with his clumsy personality.” Y/n muttered with a tired sigh.
 “Shut up!” Tamaki protests.
Mori gets himself back up, and Mori sniffs the change in the air.  “Oh it’s about time for the squall.” Kyoya explained, as rain pours heavily right after.
The hosts find a canopy to seek shelter.
“Hey Mori-senpai, you seem really close with Honey-senpai. Are the two of you like friends?” Haruhi looks towards Mori.
“You mean you don’t know that they’re cousins?” The twins asked.
“You're kidding! They’re related?” Haruhi exclaimed, shock at the information.
“The Morinozukas have been serving the Haninozuka family for generations.” Kyoya adds.
“I believe two generations ago the familes became relatives by marriage, and soon that dynamic burned out.” Y/n explains.
“But even so, Mori-senpai has always made a point to accompany Honey-senpai.” Kaoru continued.
The twins cry out.
 “Such a beautiful story.”
“I don’t know if you would really call that a beautiful story.” Haruhi muttered.
 She walked up to Mori.
“Hey Mori-senpai, it’s gonna be alright. I’m sure that Honey-senpai is safe, he’s a lot tougher than you might think he is, and if he gets hungry the trees are full of bananas.” She gives a kind smile.
Everyone stared, waiting for Mori’s reaction.
“You’re right.” He gave a faint smile, and slightly ruffled Haruhi’s hair.
“Don’t tell me Mori-senpai’s out for my spot as Haruhi’s daddy!” Tamaki cried.
“Tamkai, stop making it weird.” Y/n scolded.
“Nobody wants that spot but you boss.” Hikaru honestly spoke.
“That’s kinda creepy, when you really think about it.” Kaoru mentions.
“What! Who’re you calling creepy!” Tamaki screeched.
Kyoya's phone rings through The chaos and he answers.
“Hello? It’s me. Well, we’ve had an incident that’s caused some trouble.” Some mumbled static answers back
“Yes, at once please.” Kyoya firmly spoke.
 He hangs up.
“Finally calling your family’s police force.” Y/n teased.
Tamaki and the rest of the circus starts heading towards their previous planned path, but Mori heads the opposite direction, Haruhi, the only one to notice, follows Mori.
“My family’s private police force is going to send in a search and rescue team to help us. They’re better equipped for finding Honey-senpai than we are, so let’s just go by the gate and wait there.” Kyoya states.
But to no avail, the three idiots were too busy bickering to pay attention.
“Wait, where’s Mori, and Haruhi.” Y/n looks back at the group, noticeably lacking two more members.
The last five members finally head back to the gate.
“Y’know, I don’t believe I mentioned to them that there are other visitors here.. Huh, oh well.” Kyoya rather calmly mentions.
“How do you forget to mention they’re other people there?” Y/n sighed.
Crashing and screams echoed throughout the forest.
The groups go to the noise.
Mori is in the middle littered with hundreds of unconscious policemen, while Haruhi was in Mori’s arms, along with none other than Honey by them.
“Haruhi! Are you alright?” Tamaki rushes towards Haruhi.
“Hey! It’s Tama-chan!” Honey points out.
Tamaki is too busy aggressively bear hugging Haruhi.
Y/n lightly kicked one of the officers, which was followed by a pained groan.
“Huh, they’re still conscious.” Y/n muttered.
“Surprise that this is Honey-senpai’s work, he must’ve been holding back.” Kaoru spoke, poking the officer's face.
“What do you mean he was holding back?” Haruhi pinched Tamaki to let go of her.
“So then you don’t know about Honey-senpai’s past?” The twins ominously spoke.
After the explanation the day finally reached its long overdue end.
Kyoya is stuck in the host room planning for tomorrow’s event, which was suddenly placed on him as always.
As quiet taps of the keyboard filled the quiet void, a door swiftly opened.
“…I want… to cash in that favor you.. owe me.” Y/n panted out.
“…sorry, give me a second… lots of stairs.”
Kyoya raises a brow, and puts his laptop to the side.
 “What do you want?”
Y/n takes one final deep breath, more for his nerves than anything.
“I never got a dance from the spring formal party, given the whole fixing of a fiancé's relationship and all, I mean I’m not complaining, it was so sweet, but I never actually got to enjoy the party-..” Y/n clears his throat.
“What I mean to say is, I want you to dance with me. If that’s alright, Kyoya.” Y/n spoke.
Kyoya looks at Y/n longer than he would like, and an uncomfortable silence falls between them.
“If you insist.” Kyoya gets up from his chair.
 “Wait really?” Y/n spoke.
“After all you did win the bet.” Kyoya calmly stated.
Y/n quickly went to play a song on his phone, hands shaking more than he’d like to admit.
 The classical music softly hums.
“I- uh shall we dance?” Y/n nervously smiled holding a hand out towards him, with a slight bow.
Kyoya grabs his hand and starts to waltz with Y/n, who’s heart is leaping out his chest.
In all honesty Y/n himself wasn’t quite sure why he was this nervous, he has had he shares of dances, however this felt odd, not in bad way either but more in the sense of—
Kyoya dips Y/n, stopping his trail of thought.
Kyoya's black hair fell out of its usual pristine style, and a cocky smile adorned his face.
Y/n felt the wind knocked out of him, his heart beating even faster.
He let out a shaky breath, eyes basically glued to him.
As Y/n was pulled back up he took a step away from Kyoya.
“Uh- that was fun but, I'm going to go now! I overstayed my welcome.” Y/n rambled, before bolting out the door.
Kyoya furrowed his brows, confused at his sudden flee. Ignoring the weird feeling in his chest.
Y/n got home faster than usual, he quickly opens the door and slams it behind him, haphazardly throws his shoes, he’ll deal with it later.
He just quietly laid on the floor, trying to cool his overheated body.
He takes shallow breaths, trying to get his mind clear, but all he could do was think about the dance, like for instance what would happen if he didn’t run away like a coward.
He pulled his hair in frustration, his hair feeling suffocating at the moment.
He desperately racked his brain for any sort of explanation, he’s never felt this way before.
Y/n didn’t understand why he was acting so pathetic about a simple dance that meant nothing, and even more why he wanted to ki-…
Y/n froze as he thought, he could hear his dread pumping in his ears.
 ‘Oh…’
He began to bite and pick at his nails for comfort, ignoring the pressing issue at hand. He was too dazed he didn’t realize blood was oozing out of his fingers.
He got up and washed his hands with cold water.
As he wraps his fingers up he lets out a sad exhale.
“Of course this would happen… what am I going to do.” Y/n muttered
