Alright burning shores my fucking god is it awesome. oh and perhaps some spoilers.
I love that damn dlc so much it is so bloody awesome, I didn't expect anything. like actually I saw nothing coming but i'm dumb so, BUT IT WAS ALL A NICE SURPRISE... well I mean I knew Aloy was simping for women I mean look at Petra, Talanah uh damn cant think of anymore, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IM SAYING. but dude the way Aloy was gay panicking through the whole dam thing dude she's so damn cute, and when you finish the dlc and go talk to seyka and she's just chilling she says "I miss you.. well not now since your here but *sigh* you know what I mean.." dude I was on the floor and she says "its selfish but I kinda want you to stay.." when I say I was crying bro I was crying. I loved the dlc so much it was bloody epic.
and ive shipped a good few people with her but, seyka is truly the best she's so awesome and Aloy seems really happy around her so, HELL YEAH SEYKA AND ALOY FOREVER!!... well I shipped people with Aloy but always kept in mind that, that shit will never happen, Aloy has to save the world as if she has time for a partner so I love seyka and Aloy but, its also hella realistic which im pretty happy about I think having a partner and saving the world damn that's a lot having to think like, what if she doesn't do it what if she cant and she lied to her girlfriend gave her false hope and now there both gonna die because of her. IT WOULD BE VERY SAD. so its cool they kept that in mind.
oh and the battles. bro. the fucking fighting. it was so awesome like so incredibly enjoyable, when I died hate to admit I would get distracted and fucking die BUT. I wouldn't even get mad.. well I would have a slight reaction but I was still excited to do it again, learn from my dumb mistakes stare at that dumb Horus one more time before I destroy it.
and the story was pretty epic loved everything about the dlc.
Bonus thought.
dude Aloy having fun collecting dinosaur figures is so awesome, her doing the quiz game bro I love when game creators give the character small breaks from life, its so awesome!!

Finished chapter 3/3 of Lost in a Moment last night! It's about 9k words, and now I gotta... edit, format, etc... which might take me a few days because I'm just never happy with my writing. So instead, have the first scene?
-
Li Xiangyi, when he was very young, had never been too interested in the sea.
“Just water?” He asked, seven years old, hands stained with ink during calligraphy lessons. “Like a lot of water?”
“Further than the eye can see.” Confirmed Qi Mushan, lounging by the window with a gourd of wine. The man was smiling, pleased for being able to answer all his questions, and dramatically waving a sleeve to emphasise, “Just sky and sea. No distractions.”
“Isn’t that boring?” Li Xiangyi asked, “No trees, no shade. No mountains or animals or even land under your feet. And you can’t even drink the water!”
His master wagged a finger at him, “There is beauty in the infinite. You’ll see when you’re older.”
“The sea?” Shan Gudao asked when Li Xiangyi found him later. The teenager was under the hot sun practising his forms with a wooden sword, stopping when Li Xiangyi ran to him with a fresh cup of water. “Are you interested in the sea?”
“I’ve never seen it.” Li Xiangyi said, kicking his feet from where he sat on a tall rock. His boots were too tight again, likely from a recent growth spurt. Soon, he thinks, he might be big enough for a real sword. He thinks that he and Shan Gudao could earn their real swords together.
“You’ve seen lakes,” his shixiong said. “You’ve seen rivers. Just imagine that, but bigger.”
“Shifu says it’s nothing but water, like infinity.”
“You don’t even know how to swim yet,” Shan Gudao mused. “Do you know what infinity means?”
“Yes. It’s like forever.” Li Xiangyi answered stubbornly. “And I know how to swim!”
He knew how to float, at least, and how to get to shore. Somehow, his shixiong could tell just by looking at him, and took a break from his sword training for the day to take Li Xiangyi to the lake where they splashed around and the teen dunked him several times before admitting, laughing, that he wouldn’t let Li Xiangyi drown while he was there.
Years and years later, when he fell into the cold of the eastern sea and recognized the string of salt against his many wounds contrasting with the burning of poison in his veins, Li Xiangyi imagined that he was drowning because Shan Gudao wasn’t there anymore, and he wasn’t there anymore because Li Xiangyi had grown up too arrogant, too cruel, too selfish, and that all those things combined caused Shan Gudao‘s death.
Ahh, he would think with his eyes wide open underneath the black of the ocean on a winter night. The dark in front of him stretched out almost as far as the dark within his mind. This is infinity.

Tumblr media
Excitement overwhelmed your senses as you dropped your bag to the floor of the house, running to the back porch and down the stairs, ignoring George’s calls, too desperate to feel the sand underneath your feet. You pried your shoes off from the long drive and plunged them into the warm sand as you sighed out with a happy giggle. The sand covered your skin as you smiled to yourself, giving your toes a wiggle before walking, more running, over to the salty ocean water.
The moment your toes touched the water, relief and relaxation flooded over you, the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, the echos of birds chirping sounded down the beach. The smell of salty air and sun cream filled your nose as you inhaled happily, finally in the place that made you happy. The early summer sun beat down on your skin, warming you through your t-shirt as you extended your arms, embracing the sensations that washed over you like the waves.
George watched you from the porch, how you happily danced in the water, waving your hands, inviting you to join him. He smiled to himself with a sigh before taking off his own shoes, joining you on the shore.
As he walked to you, he watched how the breeze moved through your hair, making it dance, as you kicked your feet in the blue water, giggling to yourself. You were unearthly, standing there in your radiance with a beaming smile on your face. George’s heart swelled in his chest as he looked upon you with love in his eyes and adoration in his heart.
When he reached you, he slipped his fingers in yours and placed a soft kiss to your lips, tilting your chin up with one of his fingers to reach your lips. “Happy?” he asked with a teasing grin on his lips as you beamed and nodded.
“Thrilled,” you giggled. “Isn’t this nice? Much needed getaway for the both of us, don’t you think?” you combed your fingers through his hair, already crunchy with sea breeze.
This holiday was unprompted, but with the booming business of the joke shoppe and your overwhelming work schedule, you both decided a getaway was much needed for the both of you. Just a quiet weekend with the two of you, enjoying some peace and quiet together. An escape to the beach seemed like the perfect place to do so considering it was one of your favorite places in the world. And George would do anything to see that smile on your face that he loved so much.
George placed a kiss to your forehead, “Much needed.” He wrapped his arms around your waist from behind you and rested his chin on the top of your head as the two of you stood and stared out at the ocean, watching the waves rise and fall and crash. You could stand there forever, in your lover’s arms, enjoying each other’s company whilst the ocean washed upon your ankles and toes every once in awhile. You sighed in contentment, not needing much more in this moment.
After about an hour of standing and walking up and down the beach, the two of you decided to unpack your overnight bags, settling yourself in the rental house. As you unpacked, you looked out the window, smiling to yourself. Right in front of the bed was a large window that faced the ocean. “Georgie?”
“Yes, my love?” he responded sweetly, looking up at you from the dresser, making your heart pitter-patter in your chest as his sweet chocolate eyes peered at you.
You nodded your head to the window. “I know I said we should sleep in this weekend, but I think we should get up for the sunrise tomorrow. We can watch it from the bed,” you suggest with a playful smile on your lips. Godric knows the two of you needed to sleep in, but the thought of watching an orangey sunrise from the bed sounded heavenly.
He gave a light chuckle before speaking, “Sounds like a plan. As long as we can go back to bed after.” You nodded excitedly which only made George laugh and walk over to you, taking you in his arms as you pressed a kiss to his jaw. “I’m glad I have you all to myself this weekend. No work, no distractions, no nothing. Just us.”
“I am, too,” you cooed back at him as he pressed his lips to yours gently, your kiss familiar and gentle. You could be hours away from shared flat, but wherever you were with George, that’s when you felt the most at home. In his arms, him holding you tight and not daring to let you. Gentle kisses pressed to lips, foreheads, and jaws, whispered I love you’s, and small giggles exchanged. This was your heaven.
The day was spent well. Laying in the sand, George’s head in your lap as you brushed his hair with one hand, the other holding a book as George closed his eyes, falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the sensation of you combing fingers through his hair. Every once in awhile, you lay your book down on the sand and just breathe in the salty air as the sun shone down on your skin. You smiled to yourself when you looked down at George, resting peacefully in your lap, sun cream smeared on his nose and under his eyes, making you gently giggle. He insisted he burned easily as he smeared the thick paste on his nose, refusing to blend it in. You shook your head and pressed a kiss to his freckled forehead, leaning back on your hands, sand flowing between your fingers.
The beach was empty, you and George being the only people on the beach for as far as your eye could see. It was nice, knowing that no one could disturb your peaceful getaway. Much needed after the last few years and the chaos that had weaseled its way into your lives. Some peace and quiet is exactly what you needed.
George eventually woke from his nap and insisted to go on a walk down the beach which you gladly accepted. His fingers laced with yours as you walked along the shoreline, water dancing over your feet now. George would groan each time the water caught the bottoms of his cuffed jeans, making you laugh. You looked at George with so much adoration in your eyes as he walked beside you. A shirtless wonder, his dark wash jeans hanging low on his toned body, one of his hands holding his shoes, the other cradling your hand as he pressed a kiss to it every few seconds, reminding you he was there. You’d smile sweet as you leaned over to press a kiss to his sun chapped lips.
Jokingly, George kicked over water so it splashed on you as you squealed, the cold water hitting your exposed skin. “Don’t you dare, George Weasley,” you warned him as he laughed before doing it yet again, making you break out in a run away from him, darting down the beach. But George of course wasn’t too far behind as you giggled, running away from him as he chased after you.
“Not so fast, you,” he laughed before scooping you up in his arms, peppering your face with kisses as you wildly laughed, writhing in his grip. His strong arms wrapped around you, squeezing you tight as you threw your head back with laughter, George taking the opportunity to place kisses all over your jaw and neck. “Can’t get away from me that easily.”
Back at the house, you and George munched on takeout as you two draped yourselves on the couch, soft music playing in the background. The two of you enjoyed the comfortable silence, eating your food, listening to the gentle music, legs tangled as you rested on opposite sides of the couch. As the two of you finished your dinner, George broke the silence with a quiet question. “You think we’ll have a boy or a girl first?” he asked, wiping his mouth with a crinkled napkin.
You furrowed your brows. You and George often spoke of your future, but usually about where you would move or marriage. Never really about kids. “What do you mean?”
“You know,” George smiled. “Our kids. Which do you think we’ll have first?”
With a smile, you placed your empty plate on the coffee table and scooted closer to George, wrapping your arms around his neck as he rested his hands on your hips with a small smile. “Well,” you think, searching your mind, “I don’t mind which we have first. As long as the baby is happy and healthy.”
George smiled and placed a kiss on the tip of your nose. “What names do you like?” he asked, rubbing small circles on your hip bones, smiling gently.
“For a girl...I like Giselle or Emilia,” you smiled to yourself. You had always loved those two names for your baby girl, having them in your memory since you were a fifth year. George nodded his head in agreement. “For a boy...” you trailed off as you thought. When selecting a name for your future children, you wanted to pick a name you liked, but also something with meaning. Something with significance. And that’s when it hit you. “...if it’s alright with you, G,” you started, “I’d want to name our son after Fred.”
The mention of his twin’s name tugs at George’s heart strings. Memories of his twin flood his mind and bring warmth in his chest. George missed his other half every day and it only grew. Coping with Fred’s death was brutal for George and he was thankful that he had you next to him every step of the way. Each day got a little easier, but each day he missed him more and more. George swallowed thickly before giving a shaky sigh, “Yeah. I’d like that.”
You cupped George’s cheek and brushed it softly with your thumb as he sighed, leaning into your touch. With a small smile, he bit down softly on your thumb, making you giggle lightly. “Where are we living?” you change the subject as George runs his fingers through his hair.
“Somewhere with lots of space,” he smiled. “I want the kids to have space to run and play like we did as kids,” he beamed as you smiled to yourself, combing fingers through his hair, making him melt underneath your touch. “Not too close to the shoppe, but not too far away. Somewhere just right,” he smiles softly. “Just me, you, and our nine kids,” he pokes at your sides, making you roll your eyes and laugh.
Even though you rarely spoke about children, you knew that George wanted a large family. He wanted a house full of children, loudly stomping around, filling the house with love and laughter that reminded him so of his own childhood. George wanted to have a family, you the mother of his children and the love of his life by his side. George thought about you as a mother and how loving you would be towards your future children. It made his chest warm and his cheeks red with delight.
“Well, if we’re having nine children, we’re going to need more names,” you tease him as he chuckles, placing a kiss to your chin. “So, we’ve got the house, we’ve got the kids, what else is in store for us?” you gently smile as George gives your hips a squeeze.
He thinks for a moment before a toothy grin appears on his face. “I’m going to get us a house like this one,” he suggests as you furrow your brows. “I’m going to get us a house on the beach.” But before you can interrupt him with how you both didn’t need a house like this, he starts, “You love the beach, angel. The look on your face when we first got here was priceless. I want to get you a house like this so you can feel like that whenever you want.”
Your heart swells with so much love as you sigh happily, brushing George’s cheek with your thumb. George wanted to give you the world and he would do it with a grin on his face and pep in his step. You knew growing up he didn’t have much, so the fact that he was so adamant on giving you and your future family a life he didn’t have made your heart melt. “Georgie...” you sigh.
“I want to give you the life you deserve,” he speaks simply with sincerity.
Taking his face in your hands, you place a firm kiss to his lips before pressing your forehead against his. “The life I want is a life with you,” you tell him. “I don’t need anything else, George. Just you and me.” George smiles lightly before placing one, two soft kisses on your lips. “I don’t need a house on the beach. You’re my beach,” you giggle.
He chuckles, “I like that. I’m like the sand. I get everywhere and you can’t get rid of me.” His comment makes you laugh as he cuddles closer to you, wrapping his arms around your middle, pulling you further into his lap.

Tumblr media
necklace;
It was the first time since you started to date that Bucky had to leave for a mission. Neither of the two of you knew when he'd be back, and that got you worried than ever. You were conscious of what he did for a living when you met him, but you couldn't help but feel scared. Next to the front door of your apartment, Bucky left his backpack on the floor, leaning to cup your cheeks on his palms and kiss your lips tortuously slow.
“I'll be okay, (Y/N)”. He murmured keeping his eyes closed.
“You better”.
Your hidden threat made him giggle. The soldier felt goosebumps bristling his skin as your fingertips toured his neck blindly, just to put in place the chain of his necklace. But soon, Bucky stopped your moves to take it off from him and place his dog tags on you.
“I'll come back for them”. He promised, fixing his pale blue orbs on yours, holding your hands to bring them to his lips and place fond kisses on every knuckle of both. “I love you, don' forget it, okay?”
“I won't... How could I, Buck?”
Tumblr media
eclipsed;
Bucky was sweating, still not believing he was about to get married to the love of his life. He was on the altar, waiting for you and surrounded by all of your friends in common. Steve had had to help him with a panic attack he had suffered while dressing up, thinking that maybe you could change your opinion at the last moment. He couldn't blame you. But all those doubts vanished at the second you crossed the huge, heavy doors of the church. Your beauty eclipsed him, wearing a white lace wedding dress and seeming like you floated over the floor. Just like an angel.
His heart jumped. His oceanic eyes got covered in tears. A giggle escaped his lips, stretching a hand towards you, still praying it's not a dream. And you noticed the tension and the nervousness running his veins, leaning forward to kiss his cheek with all the love you felt for your future husband.
“Can't wait to say yes”. You whispered into his ear, causing Bucky to lace his arms around you and embrace you tight and tenderly. “I love you, James, from now and forever”.
Tumblr media
sunset;
After his most recent nightmare and walking all grumpy from one side of another around your house, you decided to cheer him up only like you can do. With reluctance, you managed to get him out of your apartment and drag him to your car. Bucky was like a child, cross-armed, lips puckered and frowning annoyed. He tried to hide the fact that he had another nightmare to not worry you, but you weren't stupid.
Thinking that glimpsing the beach throughout the large front window would make him feel happier, your boyfriend just reclined himself on the seat, causing you to roll your eyes. That mood changed as soon as Bucky was sitting on the sand, between your legs, tho. His back was resting against your chest and his neck was wrapped by one of your arms, watching fascinated the sunset on the horizon. He wouldn't recognize it, but he felt much better hearing the waves crashing into the shore, while you stroked his scalp tenderly using the tip of your nails.
“You're welcome, grumpy mummy”.
Tumblr media
clingy;
You didn't want to drink, but Sam and Sarah wanted to celebrate that the family business was picking up. On another occasion, you wouldn't mind, but Bucky was there. So, when everything started to spin around, you lead your clumsy steps to the edge of the harbor, having a sit there and let the soft breeze help you.
“Stop”. You heard from behind.
“Uh?”
“You're stealing my antisocial personality”. Bucky chuckled, taking a seat by your side. “What's up? Why are you here all alone?”
“Truth or lie?” You asked tilting your head towards him, raising both eyebrows.
“Truth”. He scoffed as if it wasn't obvious.
“I'm too clingy when I'm drunk”.
“Can't see the problem there”.
You chuckled, shaking your head inevitably, causing him to pucker his lips with a funny grimace.
“What?”
“Tru—”.
“Truth”.
“I've been all night wanting to rub your beard”.
Bucky exploded in loud laughter, not believing your words until you put your hands on his jawline. “God... It's so soft”.
His laughs increased, causing you to burn in shame. “No more drinks for you, ma'am...”
But the fact was that he turned to you, so it could be easy to caress his face.
Tumblr media
safe;
Bucky was deadly tired on the sofa, warmly cuddled between your arms. A while ago, he stopped to pay attention to the movie, turning his back to the TV to hide his exhausted expression on your chest. You placed the cozy blanket over your bodies, making sure it covered both of you, being aware that tonight you'd sleep there. You felt sorry just at the thought of waking him up, seeing him peacefully breathing and his face more relaxed than the last few days.
Shutting off the TV and stretching an arm above your head, you turned off the small lamp on the auxiliary table close to the sofa, before getting comfier by Bucky's side. Your boyfriend purred delighted, still sleepy, as your fingers got tangled on his hair and started to scratch his scalp slowly, urging you somehow to place a leg over his waist, so he could settle between both a little more closely.
“Feel better?”
“I feel safe”. He replied in a low breath, to exhale the sweet scent concentrated on your neck.
“You're safe, James. You're at home”. Your calmed tone made him sigh, snuggling you strongly.
Tumblr media
stay;
You snapped awake because of some knocks on the front door. Tossing the sheets to a side of the bed, you grabbed the gun under your pillow. It was stupidity. If somebody wanted to kill you, that would be the last thing they'd do: knock the door. You walked slowly, step by step, through the main hallway aiming to the door, more than ready to shoot your assailant.
“It's... Bucky”. You heard from the other side.
Sighing in relief and closing your eyes for a split second, you left the weapon on the dinner table in the living room. Not doubting on opening the door, you couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when you noticed the reddened mark around his left eye and cheek.
“Can I, uh... stay tonight with you?” Bucky inquired, licking his upper lip ashamed, bowing his eyes down to his boots covered in dust.
“C'mon, Sergeant”. You invited him to walk in, using such a sweet tone, while holding his cold hand.
He looked like shit but felt much better when his arms got wrapped around your waist and middle-back, hiding his face into your neck. Kicking the door shut, you embraced him tighter to your body.
Tumblr media
notebook;
You were lying on the opposite side to Bucky on the sofa, but keeping your legs tangled. It was a rainy evening with nothing to do and you decided to start to read the book you bought last week. Your boyfriend was silently doing something in a notebook. Maybe writing memories, maybe doodling, you didn't know. But the third time you caught him staring at you, you had to ask.
“What?”
“Uh... nothing”. He whispered focused on the paper in front of his eyes.
“Whaaat?” You kicked his right leg with your bare foot causing him to chuckle.
“Nothing!” Bucky replied using the same playfully tone of voice.
Putting the book on the coffee table, you sat up to lie on top of him, cuddling between his legs and resting your head on his chest. Glancing to the sketch of yourself he was drawing, you raised your heart-eyes to his. It was such a piece of art. The drawing and Bucky. Both.
“I learned in Romania. It kept me sane sometimes”. He confessed, leaning to place a kiss on your forehead. “I want to remember you forever”.
Tumblr media
marshmallow;
“Truth or dare?”
Bucky narrowed his eyes, leaning on the table just like you did, challenging him. He was trying to read your mind to figure out which were your intentions.
“Dare”. He answered firmly.
“Put twenty marshmallows in your mouth”.
The soldier stared at you in silence, watching him lick his inner cheek and push it with the tip of his tongue. He nodded his head then, grabbing the plastic bag without losing eye contact, to start to place —one by one— the sweets into his mouth. In less than thirty seconds, he looked like a squirrel with his cheek swollen. Bucky squinted at you again, triumphant.
“Hold on, I need to capture this moment”. You laughed, catching your phone to take a picture.
When the flash went off, he spitted a marshmallow like a shotgun. And you couldn't help but laugh.
“C'mon, Bu—”.
You didn't finish the sentence, being hit by another marshmallow slightly wet because of his saliva. Your grimace turned into a funny disgust, grabbing it back to throw it to his face.
“You're like a five years old in a body fos— STOP!” You ended up giggling as he spitted you the third one.

F is for Friends - part 4
Tumblr media
Look, I know it's 4 am, but hear me out: I finally finished this part. Ignore typos because at this point, that's just who I am as a person honestly.
Hope you like it!
Read the other parts here: part 1 // part 2 // part 3
__________________
“You haven’t seen him in how long?” Maddy asks you from the kitchen. You and your roommate were both home on a weekend for the first time in what seemed like forever, taking the opportunity to invite Fran and Lindsey over for a girls day. Nolan always seemed to be the topic of conversation whenever you entered the room, and you had a feeling that he was even when you weren’t there. The girls were overcome with affection for the rosy cheeked, long haired boy next door who was slowly becoming your friend.
Just your friend.
“Not since he came to my classroom last week,” you tell them. “I dropped him off and then got ready for my date with Keelan that night.”
Fran scoffs at the sound of your boyfriend's name, Lindsey rolling her eyes. “Oh, god,” Maddy groans.
“What?” you whine, dreading where this conversation was going.
“I’m trying to block that night from my memory. Especially considering you didn’t remember that I was home that night,” she says, handing Fran and Lindsey the water they had asked for.
“We weren’t that bad,” you tell her, the heat rushing to your cheeks in embarrassment anyway. You two had went back to your place after the date, not hesitating to polish off the two open bottles of wine that were in your fridge, also not hesitating to have sex as would most couples who want to do that sort of thing.
“Yes, you were. Hearing you and Keelan fuck is like listening to a poorly written PG-13 makeout session audio clip from Riverdale,” she lets out, Fran spitting her water as Lindsey starts choking on hers.
Your mouth hangs open as you try to comprehend what she just said. “Ok, one, rude. Two, why is that the comparison you make? And three, why were you listening?”
Maddy scoffs, “As if the walls weren’t so thin that Nolan and Kevin could hear you playing music in the first place. Anyway, whatever it was you were doing in there I’m pretty sure it would end up in Riverdale.”
“I need you to stop watching Riverdale,” you say, straightfaced to your roommate, “and stop comparing it to my sex life!”
“Oh! I have an idea!” Fran squeals, changing the subject.
“Oh, no,” you groan, knowing that whatever she was about to suggest was going to end poorly for at least one of you.
She rolls her eyes, getting up and going over to your window. Your car was parked right next to Kevin's, an indication that the boys were home. “What if we went out tonight and asked Kevin and Nolan to come?”
You can’t help but glare at her, knowing what her tactics were: if you and Nolan went out and got drunk together, her mind believed that you would reveal whatever feelings she thought you had for each other. Everything would come out in a drunken confession that you would have to deal with in the morning. “We’re not going out tonight.”
Fran drags you from the chair you were comfortably sitting in, Lindsey and Maddy following as the four of your run out your door. You were facing Nolan and Kevin’s, Fran knocking wildly on the wood before pushing you to the front of the group.
Nolan hears someone at the door, interrupting the workout he was doing solely to keep himself busy. He could hear voices on the other side of the door, indicating that he probably should grab a shirt to put on, reaching for the nearest towel he could find instead. “Hey,” he says, seeing you, Maddy, Fran and Lindsey all standing at his door, your mouths hanging open. He could feel his cheeks turning more pink at the thought of all of you seeing him without a shirt, even though he knew you had before.
You, on the other hand, were trying to figure out what to say, coming up short at the sight of Nolan’s abs, sweat making his body shine and leaving you to admire it longer than you needed to be. “I,” you start, forgetting why you were standing in front of your shirtless neighbor in the first place, “have no idea why we’re here.”
“We’re going out tonight,” Fran starts, pushing you out of the way, “and were wondering if you and Kevin and any of the guys wanted to join us.”
Nolan wasn’t focusing on what Fran was saying, he was too busy trying not to read too much into your flustered reaction, paying more attention to how your eyes traced his body. “Yeah, sure,” he shrugs, not taking his eyes off you. He sees your expression change, a nervous look on your face as you shook your head at him. “Uh, actually, we, um,” he tries to retract.
“Perfect!” Lindsey practically screams, Nolan visibly shaken by her outburst. “Y/N will text you the details!”
Before you or him could protest, the four of you are running back to your place, you looking over your shoulder at Nolan, an apologetic look on his face.
Why didn’t you want him to go out with you guys tonight? That was the first time he had seen you since he went to your classroom. He didn’t know if you were avoiding him or if you were just busy, but either way, he wanted to see you tonight.
“Ok, girl, if you don’t want Nolan, can I have him?” Fran drools once the four of you are back in your apartment. “God, he is so hot.”
“I, uh, I don’t care,” you tell her. What or who Nolan did was not your problem. “If he wants to and you want to, then go for it, what’s stopping you?”
She looks at you, a smirk covering her face. “You.”
You scowl at her, not unaware of the shocked looks on Maddy and Lindsey’s faces. “Oh, really?”
“You clearly like him. You’ve liked him since the day he knocked on your door.”
“I’m in love with Keelan. I have been in love with Keelan for a couple of years now, if you remember. Just because you hate him for whatever stupid reason, doesn’t mean that I do,” you tell her, walking away to your room. You didn’t have to deal with this. She wasn’t one of your students where you had to settle whatever conflict was coming up between you.
“Your boyfriend is a jerk, come on,” she says, following you.
You whip around to face her, catching her off guard as she takes a step back when she sees the anger in your face. “How has he really been a jerk to you? Because, from what I remember, he was the only one on the guy's team who stood by you guys when the athletic director wouldn’t help fund your trip to that regatta in England while they were fully funding the boy's trips to Boston and the IRAs and a trip to California for a training session with someone from Team USA. He’s the one who tutored you for the entirety of our junior year for free so you wouldn’t fail your class and wouldn’t lose your scholarship or your place on the team, and did the same for Lindsey. He’s the one who literally gave us the key to his family's beach house down the shore the last three summers in a row because he wanted to make sure that we took a break and didn’t get burned out. But you’re right, Fran, he is a jerk.”
“Come on, Y/N-” she starts.
“No. Stop,” you tell her. “I’m sick of you guys being absolute bitches about Keelan when he has never done anything to warrant this besides be on the crew team. If you want to go out with Nolan, and he wants to go out with you, then be my guest. I’m happy with my jerk.”
She stands there, stunned by your outburst, Lindsey and Maddy trying to comprehend what just happened themselves when you slam your bedroom door, locking yourself in your room until it was time to leave.
Your phone buzzes as you throw yourself onto your bed, thinking it would be one of the girls asking you to come out of your room.
Nolan: Do you really want us to come with you guys tonight?
Y/N: I really don’t care. Fran seems to have something planned and wants you guys there.
Nolan: Fran does?
Y/N: Yep.
Nolan shouldn’t be reading too much into this, staring at his phone hoping to see those three bubbles popping up to show that you were going to explain more. What could Francesca have planned? What did that mean?
He gets the details about where you guys were planning on going, forwarding the information about going to Howl to some of his teammates. What could Fran have planned?
You lay on your bed, your phone buzzing with texts from Nolan and Keelan coming in. Anything you felt for Nolan was meaningless. He was your neighbor. He was your friend. Keelan was the guy you were dating. Keelan was the guy you loved.
You start going through your closet, not really wanting to go but knowing that you were going to end up dragged out anyway, flipping through all your teaching clothes as if you thought there was anything in there that was appropriate for a bar and not for school.
You hear a knock on your door, Fran poking her head into your room earning a scoff from you. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m still mad at you,” you respond, not looking at her.
“That’s fair,” she says, plopping herself on your bed next to the pile of clothes that you were forming from your closet. “Does this mean you’re still coming with us?”
“Yeah, you’re paying for drinks.”
“That’s fair, too.” The two of you let silence come between you, you rummaging through your clothes to try to find something to wear while she fiddles with the hem of one of your shirts. “What if you did the black ripped jeans with this shirt?” Fran says, holding up something that you were sure was Maddy’s, probably stolen from her on a night when you were going out without her and buried amongst the rest of your clothes.
“Are you guys going home to change or what are you wearing?” you ask her, both of you pretending like you weren’t mad at her.
“Can I borrow something of yours?”
“Yep.”
She shuffles through your clothes some more, Maddy and Lindsey clamoring around in the kitchen to make something for the four of you to eat before you started drinking, not doing anything to try to be quiet. “You know I love you. I just want you to be with a guy that deserves you.”
You take in a deep breath, finally turning to Fran sitting on your bed. “How do you know that isn’t Keelan? I’ve been happy with him for how many years now?”
“You’ve been together since we were juniors which was, what, five years ago now? Four? Have you two even talked about anything like getting married or starting a family together?”
You think about it, knowing that you’ve seen proposals, you’ve definitely looked at rings, but it was never serious. You’ve watched movies with Keelan where the characters get engaged or get married, try to have a family, all of that, but you never did talk about it. You never thought of a future with him, you only thought of the present.
You shake your head, Fran giving you that sympathetic look that you didn’t want. “If you’ve been together for this long, and he’s not thinking about forever with you, then what’s he thinking of? You can love Keelan, but if he can’t promise to love you back forever, then you’re just wasting time.”
“You think so?” She shakes her head, but you wish she didn’t. “You’re not just saying this because you don’t like him?” you ask.
“I don’t like him because I’m saying this. He’s a good person, but I don’t like seeing you with him when I’m not sure he wants to be with you forever.” Before you can answer, you hear Maddy and Lindsey dropping something from your kitchen, knowing that whatever it was you were going to have to clean up yourself if you ever wanted it clean. “If you want your kitchen safe, I think we need to go out there,” Fran laughs, pulling you up from your bed. “We’ll change after we eat.”
The four of you eat and pre-game, thankful that Lindsey and Fran actually managed to clean up the mess well enough that you didn’t have to worry about it during your night out, Maddy no help even though she was the one who made it.
The boys said they would meet you at the bar, getting to Howl and texting Keelan to let him know where you were. Fran’s words had freaked you out. You knew you didn’t have to text Keelan where you were going, but there was something about the whole ‘if you’ve been together this long, shouldn’t you be talking about forever’ that made you feel like you had to. You and Keelan were happy, but did that mean that you have to be talking about marriage and kids and all that stuff? Was there something wrong with your relationship if you weren’t at this point?
“You look like you’re having a lot of fun,” Nolan’s voice snaps you out of what would turn into you spiraling. “What’s wrong?”
You shake your head, signaling to the bartender to get you another drink. “Nothing.”
“Good thing you don’t teach drama because you’re an awful actor,” he laughs, earning a glare from you. “Oh, come on, that was good.”
“Good thing you aren’t a comedian because you aren’t funny,” you fire back, a smile on your face as he laughs with you.
“Come on. What’s wrong? You can tell me anything,” he says, probably a little too flirty. But that’s something a friend would do. A friend would listen to you when you were having problems or when you were feeling down.
You sigh, taking a sip of the new drink in front of you. “Fran said something about Keelan and I that bothered me.” He raises his eyebrows, urging you to tell him more. “Apparently they think I’m wasting my time being with him,” you tell him, looking off to the crowd at the bar, just spacing out with your attention on nothing in particular.
He swallows hard, thankful that you didn’t notice his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down at your words. If you were wasting your time, then that would mean you would break up with Keelan, wouldn’t it? He was thinking too far into this, wasn’t he? “Do you,” he hesitates, clearing his throat to try to cover up his nerves, “do you think you’re wasting your time?”
You shrug, turning your attention back to him. His cheeks were more red than normal, his blushing causing heat to rush to your own cheeks. At least if you broke up with Keelan, you could try with Nolan, right?
No. Because you weren’t breaking up with Keelan. But, “I didn’t. But now, I don’t know.” You set into a rant about what Fran said to you in your room, adding in the fact that Lindsey and Maddy told you they also felt that way, but Lindsey still didn’t like him based on the fact that he was on the crew team and she had decided to hold that petty grudge even though that was a few years ago at this point. “I love him. But we have been together for a while, so why haven’t we even talked about it?”
“Do you see yourself marrying him?”
You stop and think about it. Before you can answer his question, Lindsey and Maddy whisk you away to dance, leaving Nolan at the bar with your drink. He sits and watches you, pretending not to hear the girl who had approached him and tried to have a conversation with him. He wasn’t trying to be rude, but he couldn’t help but focus all his attention on you. He studied you as you moved, the fluid motions in sync with the rhythm of the music, the laughter that escaped your lips when you hear Maddy and Lindsey sing, probably off key, the smile on your face as you joined in with them.
Nolan takes your drink back with him to the table, his teammates sitting there, unsurprisingly not getting up from the corner they had occupied. He doesn’t listen to them as they talk, Kevin and Travis being obnoxious as always. He found you again at the bar, leaning against it and talking to Maddy, Lindsey and Fran nowhere in sight.
“Nolan,” Travis calls to him, finally getting his friend’s attention. “Why are you over here if she’s over there?” he asks, pointing to you.
“Why would I go over there?” he deadpans, not wanting to be reminded that he was falling for you, hard and fast when he shouldn’t be.
“You’re in love with her and you want to be with her?” he states as if it were obvious, Nolan glaring at him while his teammates nodding. Nolan wasn’t that discrete when it came to his feelings about you to any of the guys, apparently. With you, he was sure you had no idea, but with them, they could read him like a book, something he hated at this moment.
Before he could answer, Keelan appears, as if by magic, his arms wrapped around you from behind. Nolan could see you tense up for a moment, not knowing who it was. You look down at your waist, a smile on your face as you come to realize it was your boyfriend, Nolan wanting nothing more than for him to be the one surprising you and holding you like that.
“Is that the boyfriend?” Oskar asks, right as you squeal in delight that he had come to see you, kissing him, your one hand on his shoulder, the other at the back of his neck, fingers intertwined with the curls there.
“Yep,” Nolan lets out, burying his face in his hands.
“He’s pretty hot,” Travis lets out, Kevin smacking him in the chest.
“Then you date him,” Kevin chirps, Nolan not wanting to say anything else to them.
“Karly might have something to say about that.”
Nolan tunes out the boys, their banter something he wanted nothing to do with, probably about him fawning over you while you were there, Keelan’s hands on you as the two of you danced, your foreheads touching and not taking your eyes off each other. If you were worried about the future, it didn’t show, enjoying the moment that was happening in front of you.
“Hey, come dance with me,” Fran snaps Nolan away from you, her hand extended to Nolan.
“Sure, why not,” Nolan mumbles, trying to be excited about dancing with your best friend, ignoring the guys hollers as they watched their friend get up with a girl, actually saying yes to someone who approached him.
The two of them start talking, falling into a weirdly easy conversation. People started gathering on the dance floor, pushing the two of them together, Nolan’s hand finding Fran’s back, pulling her closer to him. For the first time since he met you, he wasn’t thinking about you. He didn’t know if it was because of the alcohol, but Fran was right there, single, beautiful, funny. You had mentioned that going out with the guys was Fran’s idea, so did that mean Fran wanted Nolan for her? Should he be focusing his attention on someone who didn’t have a seemingly serious boyfriend? Probably.
You and Keelan get interrupted by Maddy and Lindsey, finally prying Keelan’s body off you. “Have you seen Fran?” Lindsey yells over the music.
“Not for a while, no,” you tell her, Keelan’s arms wrapping around you, both of you still moving with the music.
Maddy cranes her neck, trying to see over the crowd. You see her eyes go wide, grabbing Lindsey’s arm to show her what she was seeing. You follow their gaze, finding Fran and Nolan dancing together, her arms draped on his shoulders, him holding her as close as Keelan had been holding you. Fran kept her word about moving in on Nolan. “Good for her,” you swallow hard, Maddy and Lindsey turning back to you, shocked. “What?” you ask as if nothing were wrong.
Keelan had felt your entire body tense up when you saw Nolan and Fran. It was probably nothing, though. You were just happy for your friend, your body having an involuntary reaction to seeing her with someone you knew instead of a complete stranger like she normally was. He didn’t think anything of it. He didn’t want to think anything of it.

“You’re still at school? It’s four already,” Keelan’s voice fills your classroom from your phone speaker, the building empty except for the teachers still roaming around.
You sigh, putting down your pen, pushing aside your lesson plan book. “Yeah. It’s parent-teacher conferences tonight, so I’m just staying until those are over. There’s no point in me driving all the way home just to have to drive all the way back.”
“What are you doing for dinner?”
“Ya know,” you start, getting up from your desk to stretch your legs as if you weren’t on your feet all day, “Hadn’t thought about that. I’ll probably just throw together whatever is in the fridge when I get home.”
“Babe, that’s going to be almost nine, you can’t wait that long,” Keelan says, concern in his voice.
You shrug even though you knew he couldn’t see you. “It’s fine, I’m not that hungry anyway.”
“What time is the first conference?” he asks, extraneous noise coming from his end. It sounded like he was getting into his car, starting it up and driving off to whatever it was he had to do, even though you were sure he still had to be at work for another hour.
“Uh, 6, why?”
“Just wondering.” The two of you stay on the phone for a little while longer, talking about anything you felt like until he had to go for whatever reason.
You get back to filling out your plan book, looking through your one from last year and the hundreds of lesson plans you had on your computer, using the time for prep that you were supposed to get during the day, even if you were always called to cover another class or just had other things to do in general.
Someone knocks on your door, praying that you were right to call, “it’s open.”
“Delivery,” Keelan pokes his head in, holding up a bag of what you presumed was food based on the smell. “Still have some time to eat with me?”
“Keel!” you squeal, jumping up from your desk chair to greet him. You pull him into your room, grabbing some paper towels to clean off one of the lab benches quickly so you could eat, not a hundred percent trusting your students to clean up all the chemicals they could potentially spill on the table tops. “What’s this for”?
He starts unpacking the food, handing you a container with your favorite dish from Sabrina’s. “You didn’t sound like you were too sure you had food you could eat, and knowing you and Maddy, you’re probably on the end of food from your last shopping trip. Plus,” he says, leaning closer to you, “this way, I get to have dinner with my girl.” His lips connect to yours, quick and sweet so the two of you could get to eating.
For the first time, you were focused on just Keelan, Nolan not lingering in your thoughts. Keelan was the guy for you, you were sure of it. You were almost sure of it, at least, Fran’s words still swimming around in your mind. “Hey,” you start, finishing the bite of food you took, “Have you ever thought about our future?”
Keelan freezes, confused and probably caught off guard by the question. “Our future?” he repeats, “What do you mean?”
“Like, us. Are you going to be my boyfriend forever, or is anything going to happen?” you start, not sure how to put it otherwise.
He shrugs, focusing on his food. “I haven’t really thought about it.”
Your shoulders drop, wishing that his answer wasn’t the same as yours. “You’ve never thought about us getting married or having kids. Nothing?”
“I never thought of my life without you, but never explicitly thought of marriage, I guess?” You nod, not wanting to look at him in the moment. You had parents coming in less than twenty minutes at this point, wishing that you hadn’t asked him this question now. “Hey,” he says, reaching out and touching your hand. “When I think of the future, I think of you and I being happy together. We don’t need to be married to be that. Do we?”
“I don’t know. It wouldn’t hurt.”
“You want to get married?”
You open and close your mouth like a fish, realizing that Lindsey and Maddy pulling you away from Nolan at Howl was the right thing to do, because you still had no answer a few days later. Before you could tell him you didn’t know anything, Javier comes into your room, Anderson not far behind.
“Have you taught Electrochem yet?” Anderson’s voice booms for no reason, Javier somehow looking both annoyed and panicked at the same time.
“Yeah, last month. Have you taught Electrochem yet?”
“No,” Anderson says. “I thought we were doing it after gas laws.”
“We have never done it after gas laws,” you tell him, getting up from the lab table. “We do it with types of reactions because of half reactions and redox.”
Anderson starts going off about how all three of you are supposed to be on the same page, Javier and Keelan awkwardly just there in your room while you shuffle through your box of papers.
“Anderson, aren’t you the one who put the Galvanic Cell on the midterm? Is this why every single kid of yours got it wrong last year, because you teach it too late?” you say, handing him a packet while his face turns red, “Just take this, Javier and I made it a few years ago and it works.”
“We need to be on the same page from now on,” he tells you before storming out.
“How is it our fault that he doesn’t listen when we say this is what we’re teaching next?” Javier asks, sitting down next to Keelan, putting his face in his hands.
“At least we know why his students do shitty on that page of the midterm.”
“Anderson really is a jerk,” Keelan pipes in. “Didn’t he blame you for grading his students wrong on the midterm last year?” he asks. You had filled Keelan in on how you guys split up the grading since you all gave the same midterm; you had the first four pages, Javier the next four, and Anderson the next three. Anderson’s kids always did awful on the first eight pages, somehow redeeming themselves when he put the grades in.
You nod, the principal coming over the loudspeaker to alert the teachers that the parents were there. “I’ll see you tomorrow, maybe?” you tell Keelan, cleaning up in a hurry.
He says yes, kissing you goodbye and running out the door to go home, probably, Javier lingering behind for a moment. “You two ok?”
“How could you possibly think something was wrong,” you say, slightly sarcastic.
“I can read you like a book.”
“Yeah, well, I guess there should be a book club,” you groan. “Nolan says the same thing.”
“Tell me fast,” he says, both of you standing outside your doors to greet parents and try to direct them around the school in the event that they were lost, something that was very easy to do if you weren’t in the building every day.
“Fran said something about how Keel and I haven’t talked about our future together and we just talked about it,” you say, praying that the parents passing you by weren’t that focused on your conversation and instead were looking at the numbers on the doors.
“And what does that future look like?”
“The same as the present.”
“You could always go for Nolan,” he jokes, throwing his hands up in defense. “I’m kidding.” He leaves, one of his student’s parents showing up at his door.
You were waiting for Darren’s mom, Mrs. Alexander a few minutes late. “Ms. Y/L/N!” you hear someone yelling, a woman who looked just like Darren trying to sprint down the halls. “I’m sorry I’m late! I got lost!”
“Don’t worry about it,” you chuckle, the contrast between Darren’s shyness and his mother’s lack thereof somehow not surprising. “Come on in.”
The two of you sit at one of the lab benches, pulling out your notebook and pen. “Darren has made some great improvements this semester, this month especially,” you start, handing her a print out of his grades. “Grade-wise, he’s one of my top students. He’s smart, he knows what’s going on, I have no worry about how he’s going to do on the upcoming midterm.”
“That’s so good to hear,” she says, her finger running along the sheet that displayed A after A on it.
“And he’s talking with Sydney when we do labs, especially since we had some of the Flyers come in the class and work with them. Something Nolan Patrick did really stuck with him.”
She smiles, taking in a deep breath, “That would make this the only class he talks in.”
“Well, progress is progress. One class is better than none, talking with one classmate is better than no one.” She looks down at the paper, trying to force herself to be happy. “Mrs. Alexander. Darren is a great kid. He’s not the most talkative, but he’s getting there. I don’t want to force him to talk if it’s not something he’s comfortable with, but anything you want me to do, you know I’ll do it.”
“He likes to draw,” she says, starting to shuffle through her bag. “He loves talking about his drawings, too.”
“So do you think if I had him draw more in class, work that into my lessons for him, that he would be more open to talking?”
“He might. It’s worth a try if you can,” she say, slipping a piece of paper across the desk. It was a self portrait of him, your classroom in the background. Nolan was sitting next to him, doing the experiment from the other week. “He came home that day, went to his room, drew this, and then told me in detail about class. I’ve never seen him so excited about this before.”
You stare at the detail of the drawing in awe, from the dimples on Darren, the bubbles in the Erlenmeyer while it was heating, right down to Nolan’s rosy cheeks. “This is incredible.”
“He wanted me to have you give it to Nolan, if you could.”
The principal comes over the speakers again to have parents move to the next class they were going to, you now waiting for one of your CP student’s parents to arrive. “I will. Thank you, Mrs. Alexander”
Both of you get up from the table, walking over to the door. “No, thank you, Ms. Y/L/N.”
The rest of the parent-teacher conferences go by in a blur, you not focusing on anything other than the memory of Nolan and Darren working together. You did secretly love parent-teacher conferences, as late as they were, because it helped you get to know the student’s family background just a little bit more. A teacher is only good if they know their students, a student will only trust their teacher if they know them. You lived by that statement.
By the end of the night, you were exhausted, wanting nothing more than to change into a pair of sweats and curl up in bed until you passed out for the night. You were about to call Nolan to ask him if you could stop by for a minute to give him the picture Darren drew of him when Lindsey’s name popped up instead. “Hey, Linds, I’m driving home from school,” you preface as you start your car, “What’s up?”
“Mind if I stop by and hang out for a bit?” she asks, you hearing Fran yell something you couldn’t make out in the background.
“Sure. Maddy’s home, too, tonight, I think. So if I pass out, you’ll still have her unless she also passes out.”
You didn’t think anything of it, pulling up to your apartment as Lindsey did, too, Fran stepping out of the car and before you could.
“Hey,” you call to her, watching Fran run over to Nolan and Kevin’s door, a dress and heels on, her hair and makeup done perfectly. “Where’s she going?”
"Uh," Lindsey stammers, not sure what to tell you. "A date."
Before you can question it, Nolan opens the door, kissing Fran, taking her hand and leading her over to his car. You stood there, frozen, surprised that Fran had gone further than she did at Howl the other night, watching as Nolan and Fran drive away to go out on a date.

You remembered the first time you’d seen him.
He was a stranger, a man that you’d never once met before—standing smack-dab in the middle of your dock, the place you’d always come to clear your thoughts after hours upon hours of work, though you didn’t technically own it. It was just tradition, an accustom that you’d grown so used to that it seemed like everyone’s daily—well, everyone but his.
There were few people you didn’t know on the island, having been a member of the local family business of hotels and inns. Your little paradise, the chains of suites and saunas that you liked to think were a hidden wonder of the world—hidden to only you and the reoccurring tourists that would stay on your infamous Greek Elysium.
The usual familiarity was scarce at the sight of his bright blonde hair and sun-kissed skin, light freckles peppered across the swells of his cheeks—no doubt caused by countless hours at sea as he stood beside a large sailboat. He appeared to be a free spirit, much different to all of the others that would find stay on the shores.
It was a common getaway, an escape from the reality of life and the troubles that came with emotional attachments and labor. Every personality was alike, each one masking the pain of all that tied them down—wishing that they’d ever have to board that boat back to the mainland, and just stay in a world without worries and never-ending surf.
But the way he was standing with his body language in reaction to the sea, made you think that perhaps he wasn’t like all of the other’s who came and went. That perhaps he was a free spirit entirely on his own, one that didn’t force the necessities of comfort and relaxation on his mind—it just came naturally.
“You lost?” Your voice called out, the sound ringing with the wind chimes against his sails—diverting his attention from the white peaked waves to your melodious sound. He gave you his full attention, immediately focusing on your approaching frame—a look of relief arising on his face.
He reached behind his neck, scratching the roots of his hair whilst a sheepish smile gleamed in the light. “Thank god, you found me!” He chuckled, the browns in his eyes sparkled with golds and copper, complimenting his overall look perfectly—in all honesty, you didn’t think you’d ever seen such a handsome man. “I docked around a half-an-hour ago, just didn’t know where I was supposed to head next.”
“Would a beautiful girl like yourself happen to have the time to help a poor sailor out?”
Shaking your head, you grinned, scoffing slightly at the obvious flirtation, before walking towards him. Your feet moved in small steps, thoughts dancing around the idea of a summer fling—after all, it wouldn’t be the first time something like this had happened. You, an eccentric woman, one with the island, always seeming to attract men of all natures with not a care in the world.
Maybe he would be your new conquest, your newest mark in the endless journey of love that you never wanted to conclude. Another man who’s mood would turn from complete adoration to disgust when you’d reject his love and send him off to sea—never to be met again. Simply a memory you’d look back on when your past ran wild and smile in nostalgia.
You plopped down on the end of the dock, head thrown back as your feet touched the water—a refreshing feeling taking over your entire body. The man watched in amusement at your obvious compatibility with the ocean currents and approached you as you patted the place beside you—an open seat reserved for him.
“So, sailor.” You mocked, swinging your jaw to face him with a sing-song tone. “Tell, me. What brings you to my island?”
He raised his eyebrows, creases appearing near his forehead with youthful wrinkles at their wits—not hiding how enamored he was at your playful tone. “Your island?” There was a matched mood in the both of your speech, potential feelings rising in the pits of your stomachs. “I’m sorry, gorgeous. Last I checked, you didn’t own all of Greece.”
You scoffed, kicking your feet up to splash his ankles—cold sprays of salt water hitting the skin of your shins up to your thighs. “Well, last I checked lonely sailors didn’t talk back to pretty women—or are you just an enigma Mr...”
“Miya.” He replied, concluding the sentence that you hadn’t been able to finish with ease—identity revealed to the girl he’d already festered a crush on, despite it only having been a mere twenty minutes since you’d first begun to speak. “Miya Atsumu.”
‘Y/N L/N.” You held out a hand with a shit-eating grin as he gripped it firmly, shaking your palm enthusiastically whilst your eyes held his—a silent stare down in the midst, the morning sunrise changing to one of noon, reminding you of the ticking time. “And how long did you say you’ll be staying here?”
“Well, I’m here for my brother’s wedding.” Atsumu shrugged, nudging your shoulder with his and gazing out to the countless other sailboats in the bay. “Technically, I’m only meant to be here for a few weeks...”
“...but I’m sure I’ll find something here to keep me longer.”
And that he did.
He’d managed to find a countless number of reasons to keep himself busy. Infinite excuses not to set his sail at sea—excuses that had nothing to do with the start of Osamu’s wedding festivities, or with the waning fear of his workplace calling him back to play, or even the worry of his heavy pockets running dry of cash.
Perhaps it had something to do with how his heart pounded whenever you were around. The artery nearly jumping out of his chest in the times you’d grab his hand and pull him along the stone-studded paths throughout the tropical trees,  giving him tours of your favorite spots—laying picnic blankets under the shade and sharing piña coladas with pink straws.
Or the constant days at the beach. How you’d share an umbrella only for it to fly away in the wind—leaving the two of you out in the open rays of the sun, vulnerable to burns that Atsumu always managed to obtain. You later having to help him wash off in a cool shower—concern furrowing at your brows with every wince and whine he’d muster.
Treating him as your own personal island dweller, you’d become attached at the hip. Neither one of you wanting to be without the other for longer than a day—knowing that your time was limited, but ignoring it all the same. The summer was one of new opportunities and experiences, things that you had already set your mind to—only now having his name next to those goals.
Your first impressions had been correct, he was undoubtedly different from all of the other flings you’d had in the past—and you’d come to realize this on the day he’d asked you to be his date to his brother’s wedding. The brother that had no idea you existed, whom you hadn’t ever planned on meeting was inevitably getting an unexpected guest.
That unexpected guest being you, of course, arriving with Atsumu on your arm and wearing a beautiful shade of baby blue. Osamu and his bride had welcomed you with open arms, no suspicions at all when they’d noticed the genuine look of happiness in the blonde’s eyes—a look that they hadn’t seen come out of him in a very very long time.
“Was it everything you dreamed it would be?” He whispered, lips pressed against your hair—arms holding you close as the gentle orchestrals echoed in the night night breeze. The shadows of candle lit jars and paper lanterns covering your face in defined shades of grey—making you look all the more gorgeous.
You sighed into his chest, taking in his sweet scent, that of fresh oranges and salt—the smell of the ocean never truly washing away from his aura. “I loved it, actually.” An earnest tone spoke out from your mouth, sincere admissions flowing like waves, reaching his ears and giving him little dreams of the future—your future.
“It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies we’ve hosted, and I truly mean that.” Your voice was soft, quiet as to not disturb the calm mood in the moonlight—the stars shining down on every pair on the dance floor, even the young children blowing kisses in each other’s direction, not knowing the true feelings of love, yet wishing for them in their hearts.
Atsumu took a step back, holding your hand in his and spinning you beneath the stringed bulbs—smiling warmly as you let out an uncontrollable giggle—complaining how he was making you dizzy with glee. He didn’t think he’d ever felt so utterly full of admiration for a single person in the entirety of his life.
With a smirk at the corners of his cheeks he pulled you in, twirling you back around and into the safety of his tanned arms—the physical contact was nothing new to you, yet there was something in the way his palms held yours that made you feel like there were ulterior motives to his antics.
“Steady there, sailor.” You whispered, slightly out of breath—not only from the tireless dancing you’d endured all evening, but from the minimized distance between your bodies. His lips were a mere centimeters away from yours, so close and also so far. “Wouldn’t want you doing something you might regret.”
He shook his head, leaning in to commit to the thing he wanted most in the world—his fingers reaching up to guide your chin to his, the calloused skin of his thumbs tickling your sensitive nerves and setting free all of the festering butterflies in your chest.
“Trust me, gorgeous, when I say that I don’t have regrets.”
His words were quickly muffled as you pressed your lips against his, smothering any quips that could possibly arise and drowning them in an ocean of pure desire and infatuation. It felt like you were on ecstasy, the uncontrollable yearning for his intimacy finally being yours to have and to hold—all coming together in one innocent kiss in the middle of an almost empty wedding reception.
Your palms held his jawline, pulling him as close as possible whilst doing your best to convey your display of passion as small and intimate—not wanting to steal the celebrations of the day from the bride and groom—who’d in all honesty, disappeared themselves hours before, no one having seen them since then.
A quiet gasp rose from your throat as he bit your bottom lip, wanting more even though he knew that it wasn’t the time you could grant his wish—anticipation for the night to come, when you’d leave the party hand-in-hand, rushing from the back of his brain to the frontal lobe as he pulled away.
“’Tsumu.” You breathed out, eyes locked on his with giddiness underlying the tiredness in your voice. His expression matched yours, one of completion and success—patting himself on the back in imagination with the knowledge that he’d won your attention. “What was that?”
He stepped aside, still holding your hand in his, leading you off of the stone platform and into the gallery of cloth-lined tables with scattered guests—drunk in happiness and alcohol, blind to any real-world worries. The moment felt like a fever dream, an event that only occurred in film and television—nothing that you’d ever expected to experience yourself.
But with Atsumu, anything seemed to be possible. The slim probabilities becoming a zero percent error whenever he set his mind to a goal, bringing you along with him every step of the way. His calls out to you raspy from ahead, scratchy from the amount of hollering and applause he’d performed for his twin during speeches and vows.
“That,” he began, glancing back at you as you ran together towards his little villa, “that was only the beginning of the rest of our endless summer.”
And he was right, it certainly was the beginning of something. Something special and real—something that you’d never once felt in your life, right in your arms, right in front of you. He was your perfect match, you were tired of denying it—but there was one thing that the two of you had forgotten in the blissful montage of stolen kisses and sleepless nights.
Every beginning has an end.
All stories have a final chapter, one that no reader wanted to page through—but couldn’t resist knowing the final outcome of their two favorite characters, what could possibly happen to their relationship, their future, their unspoken and unequivocal love for one another that had manifested on the ink blotched pages.
Some had happy endings, epilogues in which the main love interests proceeded to get married, have a few kids that’d run around their fenced backyard with the sprinkler system running on overdrive. That was the dream, the dream that seemed so idealistic to most, the ideal life to live—to grow old holding hands against the oak wood of your rocking chairs as the sun set over the horizon.
But that wasn’t your ideal life, and neither was it Atsumu’s.
So, your story wasn’t one of those lucky fairy tales that had a happily ever after. It wasn’t a bedtime story that you’d read to your grandchildren or younger relatives, nor was it a time you’d try to forget as it ended right where it had initially begun—on the public docks of your inn house, in front of his weary sailboat.
The only differences being the setting sun rather than the rising dawn and the twinkling stars appearing in the dark sky in contrast to their disappearance in relation to the morning clouds. Perhaps it was the universe telling you that it was all coming to an end, shooting off into the darkness with the explosions of nebulas and constellations.
“So, this is it.” Atsumu spoke aloud, possibly to you or the emptiness of the sea. The usual warmth in his tone sounding robotic and unkept, unfamiliar to your heart, unfamiliar from the man you’d come to hold such strong feelings for in a mere three months. “This is our last night, our last minutes.”
He turned to face you, hands holding the limp ropes whilst pulling them tight and wrapping them in their holsters, billowing the sails in the strong night breezes—there was said to be a storm brewing, and it was ever so timely to have happened the same night a hurricane was forming in your blackened and broken heart.
You’d never seen such a sorrowful expression on his face, used to the typical dumbstruck happiness and easygoing nature that was void and lost, that absence setting in the reality of your relationship’s oblivion. He let go of his secured ties, elbows leaning against the railing and towards you as you stood at the edge of the doc.
“It doesn’t have to end here, you know.” He suggested, his voice shaky and unsure—not knowing what your response would be—not knowing that you loved him, too. “You could come with me, see a world that isn’t an isolated island—we could travel together, see all the other wonders—we could be happy, forever.”
Your breath hitched, chest airtight, all of the oxygen in your lungs at max capacity—catching in your lungs with no chance of getting out. His words had somehow managed to itch the hidden and sensitive regions of your heart—the ones that had always been guarded from others, the places that he’d been able to weasel his way into.
At the look on your face, he already knew your answer. An unspoken rejection standing stale in the humid air between you, the still distance growing further and further despite your motionless stances. Two broken hearts longing for one another with no resolution to be met.
He bit his lip, holding back tears in the nightly shadows and nodding his head—believing that he’d been right all along. That his presumptions about you had actually been correct, that he hadn’t been different, that he hadn’t been your person amidst the countless other personalities you’d fallen for over the summers—that he’d simply been another paradisiac fling that you’d thrown away.
But he’d never been so wrong.
You did love him, you loved him with your entire soul—your entire existence. There was no dream you wanted more than to be with him forever, to spend every single moment in his company of laughter and contagious smiles. To pepper him in kisses and take morning dips in the ocean as the sun rose over the horizon.
He was your soulmate, the other half that you never thought you would find—an egocentric and boastful man unlike any other you’d met before. Atsumu was your salvation, but with the fear of commitment and settled life at the back of your brain, you had no choice but to watch as his love faded into remorse. As his undying love was pulled beneath your currents of self-doubt.
“Thank you.” He spoke, words dull yet also meaningful—full of every last confessional emotion he had to make, full of all the lost ‘I love you’s’ and goodnight wishes in the past seventy-two days of being in each other’s arms. “Thank you for letting me love you.”
And with those words, your heart sailed into the vast horizon—through the swift currents and past the submerged rocks, peaking in the rising and falling black waves. The bright white sail of his stern shading into grey as he became nothing but a speck in the night—lost to the endless sea and unknown future, a future without you.
A future that you’d never know anything of, communication gone, forgotten between you and stripped away by the receding tides. The tides that had come just as fast as they’d gone—a physical representation of the whirlwind love story that you’d lived during the most memorable summer of your life. As you’d never be able to forget him.
You’d never be able to forget the first man you’d ever loved.

* . PAPER RINGS !
pairing — lando norris x reader
rating — fluff
wordcount — 2.3k
warnings — cursing (it's me who are we kidding)
song — taylor swift | paper rings
note ! — before y'all jump down my throat about "what the hell is a toque” — it's a hat. us canadians call it a toque. also this is long overdue, but I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
when the light of day melted into the dark of night, and long, tiring shifts slowly came to an end, it wasn't an odd sight to see large groups of people piling into bars for a drink or several. with an extra hour and a half added onto your normal shift time due to your bosses inability to do what he was supposed to do — leaving stacks of paperwork you had to go through, along with a few of your other colleagues.
now walking into the packed bar — bags long forgotten in your cars, you couldn't find it in yourself to cringe at the strong smell of alcohol that burned your nose as you walked through the door, nor did you care for the way the heels of your feet stuck to the ground with every step you took.
after a day like today, you weren't sure if you'd mind anything.
sheila — one of your colleagues raised a stiff hand and slammed it down on the counter, gaining the attention of the bartender. “we need like, fifteen shots stat!” the bartender immediately got to work, pouring glass after glass — sliding them in front of the five of you, before turning to serve another guest.
“that asshole gonna get my foot down his throat if he dumps that much paperwork on us again,” she downed her first shot and reached for another one, “all of that should have been sorted out in the morning, not thrown onto us as we were packing up,” the rest of you agreed, downing a shot quickly as you tried to keep up with the loud mouthed girl.
you turned your head away from the conversation that had started between the others, choosing to stare curiously at the screen in the corner displaying reruns of a race that took place today.
feeling a body skim yours as a group of men slid into the barspace to the left of you — a majority of them sporting an orange and blue item of clothing, something you had connected quickly to the orange and blue car that had been on screen moments earlier.
looking back to the tv hanging from the ceiling, you tried to wrap your head around what all the numbers meant — a small bump caused you to look down, a younger man of the bunch staring at the tv proudly, “do you watch f1?” he turned his head to look at you as he finished asking his question.
f1... Is that what this was called?
“no, but I'd rather watch that then the football game that's on,” the boy looked at you with wide eyes, slightly in awe of how blunt you were. he nodded slightly before turning his attention back to the tv. “ I assume you do. you're wearing the colours of one of the cars,” you felt bad as you watched the boy curl into himself slightly.
ha looked over to you once again — “you can say that,” his eyes glinted a little bit as he spoke, a proud smirk coming across his face as he leaned in closer, not close enough to make you uncomfortable, but close enough that he could speak without the bar hearing. “I race for them — see that orange and blue mclaren? thats me.”
that was definitely more interesting than the news.
“so what might that mclaren driver's name be?” his head turned back to you, a slight red tint covering his cheeks, and climbing to the tips of his ears.
with a single hand outstretched to you, he introduced himself, “I’m lando norris — and who might you be?”
“Y/N.”
that day had happened a few months ago — and in that time, your friendship with the young driver had only progressed.
days you used to spend simply reading in the comfort of your own home, was now spent bouncing from bookshop from book shop — lando recommending you all the books that he had been in love with at the moment.
you had to refrain from telling him you had already read them, having looked him up on instagram a day or two after the initial meet — the photo of him cozy and comfortable in his bed with the stack of books perfectly visible to his side.
the types of books a person read could tell you a lot about their character — and with lando, it was all good things.
“okay, and then this one is semi based on a true story — like half true but has a lot of action and drama sprinkled in there-” he rambled on about the book he held in his hands, his eyes darting between you and it as his hands ran over the spine and pages of the book.
even knowing the writer, plot, and ending — you couldn't bring yourself to put an end to his ramblings. instead, you stood to his side and nodded eagerly as he spoke words with such excitement.
for any other person, you would have cut them off and told them that you had read it — but for some reason, cutting lando off was the last thing you wanted to do. he wasn't the famous young driver for mclaren who was always eager for a challenge on the track. he was just lando.
the boy who had a mini library growing in his room, filled with books from every genre. he was the boy with the odd affinity for milk. he was just normal.
and for the first time in your life — normal felt nice.
“lando, you're insane.”
“maybe a little bit, but insane is fun sometimes.”
when lando said he had something fun in mind for the two of you to do, the last place you expected to end up was on the shore of an ice cold lake — the wind blowing harshly against your body, making it sway slightly with the force.
lando had already taken off his jacket, now standing in just his shirt and bottoms.
“I’m not going in that,” you backed away from the boy as he stripped more and more of his clothes off, dropping them in a neat pile on the ground.
he shrugged, pausing in his action of removing his jeans, “are you not going in because its cold, or are you not going in because you don't have a swim suit?” while the lake technically was still warm enough for swimming, the thought of the water 's temperature that was lowering daily paired with the strong winds, didn’t exactly spark excitement in you.
“both.”
“it’s either your coming in by your own will, or I’m dragging you in.”
“you touch me and I’ll hurt you — that’s a promise.”
a mischievous glint appears in lando’s eyes — he knew what he was about to do was going to get him in trouble, and most likely hurt in the end, but the thought of doing it overpowered his thoughts about what would happen after.
there was no going back.
in a split second lando had his arms wrapped around your waist as he dragged you closer to the lake — despite the heels of your feet digging into the ground, he had still succeeded in getting you close enough that if he threw his body weight towards the water, you would soon follow.
and that’s exactly what he did.
a laugh from lando, a squeal from you, and the whooshing of the air rushing past your ears was all you could hear before you found yourself submerged under the cold water.
you clawed your way back to the surface with the help of lando’s arms, which were still wrapped around your waist — as soon as you felt the coldness of the air reach your face, you were turning in his arms and swinging.
“I’m fully clothed you asshole!” you brought a fist down lightly on the top of his head — the water squishing out at the action.
“stop- don’t- stop hitting me!” lando laughed as he let you go, swimming backwards slightly as a way to get away from your violent swings. “I know that you're fully clothed- that's what makes it so funny,” the curly haired boy couldn't contain his laughter at the end — his voice railing into the squeaky laugher that you had come to love.
without the support of lando, paired with the additional weight of your heavy winter coat and soaked wool toque and mittens, you began to struggle slightly to stay afloat. “lando-” the water climbed its way up your face before washing back down as you kicked harder.
his laugher stopped as he kicked his way over to you — grabbing around your waist once more and holding you to his body.
with the distance closed between the two of you, the feeling of his warm breath against your face was unavoidable — as well as the feeling of the heat radiating from his body, even through the layers you had on. neither of you spoke, both trying not to move — for every movement brought a wave of discomfort with your muscles tensed up from the cold. but as time started to tick slower, and all you could feel was the other — the last thing on both of your minds was the temperature of the water.
“you’re turning blue, lando,” as much as you wished you would've stayed in that position forever, the sight of lando’s cheeks and lips draining of its naturally pink colour concerned you. even with layers upon layers of clothes on, you found yourself shivering — and with lando in nothing but his boxers, you doubted he was doing much better than you. “I think right now is a good time to get out,” lando didnt reply, only bringing the two of you closer to the shore.
with chattering teeth, bodies curled in, and fast feet, lando and you made your way to his car — both jumping in the minute you could get your hands on the door handle. neither of you cared for the seats wetting as you sat down.
“I think I have some towels in the back from my training — can you grab them? I’ll get the heat and everything going,” you leaned into the back of the car to the best of your ability, pulling two towels out of an orange gym bag, and bringing them to the front where lando and you sat.
lando wrapped the towel around his shoulders — the shaking constant and harsh, rocking his body violently.
“I would say I told you so, but I feel too bad to even insult you,” with your jacket, toque, and mittens stippped off and thrown onto the floor, you wrapped your towel around your shoulders much like lando had.
“awe, youre so considerate — I didn’t think it through.”
“trust me — I can tell.”
the sound of the heaters on blast and the clattering of teeth was all that filled the car. lando had seemed aggravated at your comment — the way his body turned slightly away from your own, his eyes never meeting yours, and the fact that there was no laugh following or during his words.
what had you said or done that pissed him off?
“are you mad at me?”
lando turned slowly, his eyes still not fully meeting yours — but he looked like he was less angry and more conflicted. “I’m not mad, I’m just- just,” the words were on the tip of his tongue, but for some reason he couldn't bring himself to say them. “forget it.”
“no, I wanna know what's wrong — please tell me?”
he angled his body to face yours after a few moments of no response, making it so him and you looked at eachother with ease. “back out there on the lake- did you… did you feel anything?” your body tensed at his question — it was the last thing that you thought would come out of his mouth, so it took you by surprise. “because I know I did — and that scares me.”
you struggled to find a string of words that made sense to you, “I mean, yeah I guess I did — what did you feel? just so I can make sure that I felt the same thing.”
“I felt like I wanted to stay in that position forever — like I wanted to kiss you,” the words he spoke were soft and genuine. “all I felt was you.”
it had taken months for you to put a name to the feelings you had when you were around the british boy, but now, more than ever, did you finally know what they were.
they were love.
“I felt the same thing — all that I could feel was you and your stupidly perfect body against mine,” both of you giggled slightly at that. “and all that was running through my head was that if you had asked me to do anything with you, I would have done it — hell you could have asked me to marry you with paper rings and I would’ve said yes.”
lando stared at you with a calm look on his face — his eyes drinking you and all of your features in. “I’m glad — because I was thinking the same thing,” his hand fell on top of yours, bringing a warmth to the back of it. “and no need for paper rings when I can promise you the real deal when the time comes.”
“like I said before, I would marry you with paper rings lando,” you leaned in slightly, your voice barely above a whisper. “now kiss me you goof.”
he didn’t have to be asked twice.

for your summer set wh... what about levi being jealous about mc helping luke make a sand castle :]? maybe if its too vague maybe like an apology walk to help levi find some rocks or plants to add to henrys aquarium as an excuse for hand holding :D?
the ones youve made so far are super cute (´-﹏-`) also!!!!!!
Thank you so much for requesting!!
I'm always down to write about Levi so I loved this idea! I hope I didn't take too long to write your request, I'm way too slow with these requests ^^' Either way I hope you'll like the result!
Requests for my summer event are still open! Find the rules here and the Masterlist here~!
The backstab that is jealousy
Leviathan was standing in the room that he was sharing with Mammon during the beach trip that his family forced him to come along to. Actually, not only his brothers went up to the human world with him, but also the demon prince, his loyal butler, as well as all the exchange students.
Meaning: there were lots of people eager to have the best time ever, outside, in the burning sun, with loud, obnoxious and Normies all over the place -- you cannot imagine how terrible that sounded for a shut-in otaku like Levi!
The avatar of Envy kept staring at his reflection in the mirror. Mammon had successfully pressured him into getting changed into his swimsuit, but had then left his brother as Beel had invited him to a game of beach volleyball. So, all alone now, Levi mustered himself. He felt his self-hatred crawl up his consciousness slowly, not able to prevent it from invading his thoughts.
It was almost ironic how he brushed over his toned, nice body, yet wished to throw himself into the next trash can the longer he kept looking at himself.
Leviathan knew that MC was waiting for him at the beach. They had asked him over and over to do something fun once they arrive in the human world. They even promised to not dump him for one of his brothers! Still, it took Levi awfully long until he actually stepped outside.
Walking down to the beach, Levi tried to suppress the urge to teleport back to the Devildom by thinking about MC. He had fallen for them big time, so even if it meant being outside doing Normie stuff, Levi would still agree to it if it meant being close to his Henry.
If it's with them, all those icky outside activities seemed somehow survivable... They could build Ruri-chan out of sand, or he'd show them his swimming skills! Being the cute little sea monster he is, he naturally was the best swimmer in his family, and he was SO ready to take advantage of it to flex in front of MC.
Somewhere at the point where Levi daydreamed about sharing a drink with MC using those twirly straws, he found himself smiling from ear to ear.
So yeah, he was fine with doing this Normie stuff for once... Feeling his heart beating fast, he had to admit it was more than fine, actually.
Levi picked up his pace unconsciously as he stepped onto the beach. Like a child, his excitement of spending time with his Henry, just the two of them, made him shout out their name the second he saw them--
Levi stopped on the spot.
He saw MC... But with Luke? Playing in the sand?
The two obviously had heard Leviathan's overexcited exclaim, so they turned their heads towards him, revealing the big smiles on their faces.
You were replaced.
The avatar of Envy flinched as the thought invaded his mind. His expression fell as MC's giggles rang in his ears.
They lied to you.
"Levi, there you are!" MC stumbled to stand up after sitting in the sand, but Levi was already turning around.
"I see you're busy, so I won't bother you" the demon hissed.
He was met with a confused sound.
"Well, Luke invited me to build a sandcastle with him" MC explained. "Do you want to join us? We're almost don-"
"No, I don't want to be with a traitor like you right now."
MC was calling after him, but Levi kept stomping away to prevent his rising envy from saying anything he'd regret later.
-------
Levi had tried to distance himself from MC as fast as possible. He knew this feeling twisting his stomach would have caused him to have an outburst right then and there if he had stayed, so leaving had been the only option. Even after having found a friend, lover and safe place in MC, Levi still had troubles in dealing with his jealousy. It was difficult pushing those dark thoughts away, was difficult to calm down instead of flooding this whole pathetic beach with the ocean at his feet.
As he was hurrying along the shore, he decided to get into the water and do something to calm himself.
He did not expect MC to find him so quickly, though.
They had walked right into him as he was mumbling to himself, searching through the water.
"This one... No, too small... So maybe this... Nah... What about-"
"Levi?"
The demon's head shot up as he let out a squeal, quickly letting go of the countless rocks he had in his hands.
"MC!" His lips formed a pout immediately. "D-don't sneak up on me like that! Honestly..."
The human chuckled it off, not mentioning how they had literally stood in front of him for a moment before saying his name.
"What are you doing?" They went to carefully ask instead.
Looking at the rocks at his feet, he felt a little dumb explaining it. "I'm collecting stones to decorate Henry's aquarium with... I always bring him some when I'm at the beach, and feeling the water against my hands and feet calm me, s-so..." His voice got thinner at the end, and he finished his explanation with a sigh. "Wow, I sound like a total loser..."
MC crouched down to look at him. "Can I help you?" They asked to Levi's surprise.
"O-oh, uhm..."
"If you're not angry at me that is" MC added in a sad smile.
Slowly shaking his head, Levi stood up. "...Let's take a walk and look for some, then."
So they took a walk in this weird silence that was overall just pretty uncomfortable.
"Levi, I'm sorry" At some point MC broke through it, trying to lock eyes with him. "I did promise it would be just the two of us, so I apologize for not, well, holding my end of the deal."
Levi gave a sad shrug. "It's whatever... I probably asked for too much and you simply didn't want to-"
"Hey" MC barged in, stopping him by taking hold of his hand. "None of that, please. I wanted to spend the day with you, but you took forever to get out of your room, so I figured I'd play with Luke while waiting."
"... Oh, I see..." Levi mumbled, flustered by how tightly they were squeezing his hand.
"To be fair" MC continued. "I didn't think you'd get jealous of the angel child, of all people...!"
"Hnngh..." Levi breathed in an angry blush. "Come on, let's keep going..."
Pulling them with him Levi hurried forward, his embarrassed frown growing as he heard their resigned sigh.
"Your self-consciousness is really something else..." MC mumbled. "But don't worry, we'll work on that one together. And right now, I don't plan leaving your side, now that we're finally together."
So Levi turned to look at them.
"... Really?"
"Really" they assured. "If it helps you believe me... I won't let go of that hand of yours."
"H-huh?"
His eyes widened while his legs got weak at this smile they beamed him.
"Would you like that?"
"Y-yeah" the demon mumbled, running his thumb over the back of their hand gently. "I'd l-love that, actually..."
"Good" they cheered. "Then let's go and get some more souvenirs for Henry, shall we?"

Whisking me out away from work, Gavin takes me to the outskirts of Loveland to see a lantern festival. Riding Sparky for almost an hour, I hug his waist while looking at the scenery. Clear blue sky, a field of thousand flowers, and butterflies dancing around as we pass by. Not long, we arrive at our destination: a small town where there's a lantern festival is held for a week. The motorbike stops in front of the hotel parking lot.
I take off my helmet and hop off before giving it to him. Looking around the small yet festive town, my eyes instantly light up with joy and excitement. White houses and buildings, children running around with bouquet of fresh flowers and lanterns in their hands, laughing and giggling joyfully. Seeing this, I forgot all of my worries fatigue and work.
"Kazie" Gavin calls my name softly, his voice coming behind me. I turn around and met his amber eyes, eyes that's looking at me with tenderness and warmth, a bouquet of red roses in his hands. When did he... "For you." He smiles as I take the bouquet from him. I inhale the sweet scent of the flowers before closing the distance between us and tiptoes, kissing him in the cheeks.

"Thank you Gavin."
The sound of children's giggles reaches our ears and his cheeks reddens. He looks at them and thanks them, then a little girl took this chance and approaches me, her blue eyes sparkling. She holds out a daisy to me and runs away happily when I accepted and thanked her. "So cute~" I look back to the smiling Gavin and an idea came into my mind. I turn to him, his back is on me, I hug him from behind and tucks the flower in his ear, lips curling into a playful smile.
His eyes widened and turns his head to look at me. I giggle with the kids as I boop his nose, earning a chuckle from him. Hands reaching out to take the flower, and when he was about to take it off, I press my free hand above his. "Don't take it off Gav..."
He covers my hand with the other, intwining it with his and takes the daisy.
"Silly..." He speaks, a hint of laughter in his voice as he takes the flower and turns around, holding hands. The afternoon sunlight and the orange sky tainted his features, making him look more soft and handsome. Slender fingers tucks the strands of my hair then puts the daisy after. "There." I stare at him as I clutch the bouquet tightly, entranced at how he looks right now. "Beautiful." He smiles, looking straight at me.
Heat rushes up to my face, my cheeks burning red.
"Is there something on my face?"
"You're just too precious and handsome~" I giggled, eyes crinkling.
"....." The tips of his ears turns red, making me chuckle.
"You're so cute Gavin!"
"Ahem... You're cuter."
My heart flutters at the sight of the blushing Gavin, scratching the back of his neck, looking away. He's too precious. I look back at the still-giggling kids and their lanterns caught my eye. Noticing my stare, Gavin's lips curls upward. "Do you want lanterns too? There's a shop over there, they sell shaped lanterns. But if you're tired we ca-"
I excitedly pulled his hand cutting him off. "Yes!" My enthusiastic reply made him chuckle and squeeze his hand. "I'm still full of energy!"
"Alright. Then let's go."
He thanks the kids again and takes me to the stalls just around the corner and while we walk, unlit lanterns came to view. Our surroundings was full of differently shaped lanterns, comes in different color and sizes. I grip the bouquet in my hands as I follow him when I saw heart shaped lanterns. "Want those?" He asks as his eyes follows where I'm looking. "Yes."
We went to a small stall and I pick up the heart shaped lantern. "Ah. Good afternoon." An elder woman greets us in a friendly manner, in her hands is newly made lantern. "You have a good eyes. These are the last pair of heart lanterns miss. You can also write wishes before you release them to the sky. Any wishes will do."
I turn to look at Gavin who's looking at the other lanterns. "Gav, can we have this?" I look at the other pair and showing it to him. "Sure." He takes the other one and pays for it. "Let's have dinner, it's getting dark now and we'll go fly these lanterns after dinner." He smiles and puts a hand in my waist.
"Wait." Just when we're about to leave, the elder woman calls us. "You forgot this." She puts two brushes and a small bottle of ink. "To write your wishes." The elder smiles. "Thank you ma'am." Gavin nods as the takes it puts it inside the his jacket pocket. "Anything else?" He takes my lantern and takes me by hand as we look at the lantern stalls. Flower lanterns hanging and perched in the stall tables, they start to light one by one until they're all lighted up.
I feel like in the sea and blanket of stars as we walk. "It's like... we're walking in sea of stars." I speak in awe. "I don't want to leave... I want this moment to freeze forever." I mutter. "We'll definitely walk through like this again." He smiles assuredly while looking straight at me. His answer surprised and confused me. 'Again?' what does he mean... We'll comeback here in the future again?'
"You must be hungry. Let's eat dinner." My train of thoughts vanishes when he spoke. I realized that my stomach is empty and only ate bread for lunch. "Sure~" I answer, hoping that he won't know. Smiling gold orbs meets mine as we walk, his eyes shines more brightly than those lanterns around us.
I squeeze his hand and does the same to mine. Walking out from the lines of shops, we head directly back to the hotel, hand and hand.

"The moon is beautiful tonight..." I mutter as I look at the full moon, surrounded by blanket of stars. The sound of paddles rowing in the water stops and I look around. Taking our lanterns and grabbing our brushes, we dip it in the bottle of ink. "Let's write our wishes~"
"Mm." He nods as he starts to write. I think I know what to wish for. My lips quirks up as I write my wish, the brush leaving black ink in the paper.
"To spend my time and whole life with someone I love."
I smile, looking at my written wish. And I'm confident, really confident that this one will come true. Putting the brush down, I look at Gavin who's still writing his wish. His features are a bit stern as he writes, his brows furrowing cutely and puts his brush down. "Finished yours?" He asks as he takes out a box of matches, lighting his and my lantern. "Don't peek!"
"I won't." He chuckles, his amber eyes shinning like gold from the light coming from the lantern. "Ready?"
"Mhm." I nod and we raise our hands, letting go of our lanterns and watch them float up high into the sky. Then, we lanterns starts to appear one by one, filling up the sky, joining ours. Something was flickering faraway that I didn't notice. Lights surrounds the shore, drifting towards us. "So beautiful..." Mesmerized by the water lanterns, I didn't feel him change places and sit beside me untile he puts a hand on my waist, pulling me closer to him.
Tumblr media
I rest my head on his shoulder, watching the sea of star-like lanterns float around us. The moon peaks out from the lanterns, shinning brightly.
"Beautiful..."
"Hm?"
"The moon is beautiful tonight, Gavin..." I smile softly, twining my fingers with his before squeezing it. His hand squeezes mine back. He takes my chin with his other hand, tilting my face to look at him, our lips almost touching. "I love you to the moon and back, Kazie..." He spoke softly as I stare at his handsome face. He closes the distance between us, his lips meeting mine.
Gavin breaks the kiss first, looking at me tenderly. Wind suddenly surrounds us as he stands up and steps out of the boat, standing in the water, his hand tugging mine. I stand up and step out hesitantly, and when I did, his evol supports us both. Letting go of my hand, I giggle as he steps back and bows down. "Can I ask this beautiful girl..." His ears turns red adorably, holding his hand out to me.
"Ahem... May I have this dance?" Amber orbs shinning, while looking straight to mine. "Yes~" He kisses the back of my hand after I put it above his.
I put my other hand in his shoulder and his hands pulls me close to him, our bodies pressed together. We start to move when a familiar music from the shore reaches our ears. He starts to hums along with the music, guiding me through the dance, carefully avoiding the lanterns as we do. We dance around, smiling happily to each other.
Water lanterns moves along with us while drifting further into the lake. Soon, the music slows down and so are our movements. I rest my head in his shoulder as we dance slowly, matching the new music. "Thank you for taking me here Gavin... I really like it, no... Love it. I really enjoyed everything. Starting when we're passing by the fields of flowers, when we just got here in this small beautiful down, the candle lit dinner... And this..."
I pause, looking straight into his eyes. "Thank you so much."
"You're welcome Pumpkin. You looked stress lately and you made me worry. And I heard from Eli that there's a lantern festival here... So I plan to take you here to relax and enjoy." With a warm glint in his eyes, he kisses my forehead. "We'll go back here again... In the future."
"Mm."
'Even he, himself is busy... He really cleared his schedule just for me...' I hug him tightly, burying my face in his chest.
"Thank you so much, love."
"Anything for you, my love"
He kisses me once more and we stayed like that, embracing each other as we watch the lanterns float around us like blankets of stars.
May our wishes come true and let us spend our time together until we grow old. Spending my whole life with you.

Scarlet Moon
Tumblr media
Genre: Scarlet Heart Ryeo!AU, Time Travel!AU, Alternate History, Royalty!AU
Pairing: OC x EXO OT9
Summary:  This isn’t Gwen’s time. She was from the modern era, with technology and electricity. But during a solar eclipse, she’s transported back into a previous life in a time and place she does not know. Now, as the foreign daughter of a merchant living in a prince’s household, she must tread carefully, watch her back, and guard her heart. But with the princes locked in a battle over the throne, the chances of her making it out alive might disappear.
Part: 1 I 2 I 3
                                            ********
The paper sliced across the skin before any action could be taken to avoid it. A high pitched hiss followed by a short whine. The flap of skin that had been separated was being dyed red.
Gwen stuck her index finger in her mouth to sooth the stinging. It helped a little bit. Still sucking on the appendage, Gwen stumbled over to the supply closet and opened the thin metal doors with the other hand. She kept this feat up as she opened the first aid kit and pushed around the different types of bandages, trying to decide which one to use. The cut was right on the tip, right where you never want it to be. It was hard to get a band aid on that kind of cut. Eventually, she found a smaller version of a standard design and ripped the paper covering opening. She wrapped the band aid around her index finger before heading for her desk. It was back to the files that had injured her in the first place.
The pile was tall; by her standards, at least. Gwen had been dealing with it for the past hour. The dates on the files needed sorting, separating the ones could be sent to long-term storage. She almost gave out another whine, but she didn’t want the others to hear and start the relentless teasing. Her coworkers were quick and very witty.
It was a friendly floor. Everyone joked and played around without the fear of feelings being hurt. If Gwen didn’t have to do the actual work that came with the office space, she wouldn’t mind staying here forever. But dealing with these files and demanding customers and meeting quotas was not what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Not that Gwen knew exactly what it was that she did want to do. She’d tried a lot of things over the last few years in her slow going college years. Marketing, history, education - hell, she even took several makeup courses and skincare lessons that focused on natural resources. None of it stuck, none of it held her interest, though the information could be recalled if needed.
“You alright there, Gwen?”
Drudging up from the bowels of her thoughts, Gwen looked up at Kimberly, who had stopped at her desk on the way back from the printer.
“Yeah,” Gwen nodded with a sigh. “Just… ready for the week to be over.”
“Ain’t that the consensus,” Kimberly laughed.
“How are the dogs?” Gwen was seizing the opportunity to distract herself from work. Kimberly owned two dogs with opposite personalities. One was the well-mannered older brother, the other was the skittish, hyper younger brother. She loved to talk about them and there was never a shortage of entertaining stories.
Kimberly rolled her eyes. “Kurt is back to back to demanding his breakfast at five a.m. Oh, but Kent now does this thing where he walks backwards. Whenever he starts doing that, we’ll beep at him. You know, like the garbage trucks? Then he gets all shy and hides his head.”
Gwen couldn’t stop giggling at the thought. “Oh, the poor thing!”
“You’ll have to see it next time you come over.”
“I can’t wait.”
As Kimberly walked away, Gwen sighed. She didn’t get out too much and the humor that most of her socializing outside of work was with one of her coworkers wasn’t lost on her. Just another dart to throw at the board that was Gwen Sinclair.
It wasn’t like her life was a complete disaster. Really, it could have been worse. She could imagine a thousand different scenarios that she could be living right now that were worse off then her current situation. Truthfully, if glanced at from the outside, Gwen’s life was simply... mediocre. She was blessed with tolerable roommates, an okay job that provided a nice paycheck for a twenty-three-year-old who had yet to finish college. But… the loneliness was killing her and overall, she was craving for something more.
She was exhausted from obligation and responsibility. She wished to go back to the days where she read about adventure and intrigue and imagined some day living that out herself. After having those words in her hands, she felt empty in her reality. Somehow, each day felt even more draining.
With the end of another workday, Gwen packed up the files that still needed to be sorted, locked up her cabinets and tugged on her coat as she waved goodbye to Kimberly and the others. A few other coworkers were chatting excitedly about the solar eclipse happening in a few minutes. Gwen, however, was annoyed. Annoyed at the fact that all anyone - online or in person - could talk about was the solar eclipse, as if it was the only one that had ever been seen in this generation. When one person mentioned the eclipse, it was fine. When it was every post and every comment and every conversation, it felt a little ridiculous. Gwen couldn’t care less about the event. Getting home was her current priority. But escaping wasn’t that easy.
For the millionth time, Gwen rolled her eyes as she scrolled through the newsfeed, waiting for her car to warm up in the parking garage. The weather was cold and dreary, slowing down her progress on getting home. Puffs of steam escaped her lips in the below freezing temperature. Other employees hurried past the back of her car to get to their own tiny sanctuaries. An alert for a new email popped up at the top of the phone screen. From the quick scan of the notification, she saw that it was from her eastern history professor. He wanted to go over the latest paper from class. Oh, no. That was never a good sign.
Gwen huffed, threw her car into reverse, and pulled out of the parking space. First the papercut, now this.
Since all her classes were online, Gwen had the minor luxury to not be forced to talk to her professor face to face, which surely would have been humiliating. But it couldn’t be avoided completely. She’d email him back once she arrived home. Or maybe she’d put it off until tomorrow. Dealing with this was the last thing she wanted to do. Stress was already causing her skin to revert back to puberty, she didn’t need this as well.
Her phone rang and she struggled to answer it while carefully winding down the levels of the garage. It was Jaynie, the favorite of the roommates.
“Hey, Janie, what’s up?”
“Oh, nothing, I was just wondering if you were coming straight home today.”
Gwen smirked, knowing exactly where this was going.
Over the past several months, a bit of an obsession had developed with Korean dramas. The shows the two of them consumed were different from the same old, boring American television and there were years worth of stories to choose from. Currently, they were in the middle of another romantic comedy. While Gwen loved the storyline and was in a constant state of swoon, as soon as the credits started rolling, she was reminded how pathetically uninteresting her life was. But those sixty plus minutes of pure escapism made it all worth the crash that came afterwards.
Gwen tried to wait patiently in the line to leave the parking garage, but her frustration was getting the better of her. It was stop and go, stop and go, stop and go.
“I’m planning on it. That is, if people decide any day now to not drive idiotically.”
“Ugh, I had the same problem on my way home.”
Curious. Both of them worked in the downtown area. “How did you get home so fast?” Gwen asked.
“I got off a little early today.”
“Lucky.” Her accounting job often led to flexible hours. Gwen was jealous of that level of freedom.
The road was slick from the freezing rain. Weather like this brought out all the stupid drivers as if this wasn’t a yearly occurrence. She was careful to look both ways before exiting the garage and inching into the street. What she didn’t account for was the other emptying lot across the street. A large black SUV pulled out right at the same time, but went too fast, hitting the water that was slowly turning to ice on the asphalt.
With no time to react, the SUV slammed into the side of Gwen’s compact car. Glass from the driver’s side window shattered and sprayed her face. Her phone flew out of her hand. The crunch of metal hit her ears before she could fully process what had happened. With the force of the collision, her forehead slammed against the steering wheel before the airbag deployed. The sound of screams echoed around her, but the words were unintelligible. Slumped over in her seat, a shadow creeped over the scene. Through the slits of her barely open eyes, Gwen watched as the sun disappeared behind the moon. Then all went black.
                                           ********
The water was what brought her back. It filled her lungs and surrounded her on all sides. She flailed her limbs, desperate for traction that couldn’t be found. Her clothing weighed her down, the hems being pulled as if hands had gripped tight on them. She needed a miracle. And a miracle she got. Two hands held onto one of her wrists and pulled her to the surface.
She gasped for air as her rescuer struggled to bring her to shore. The cloth that covered her felt as if it weighed a hundred pounds, making it nearly impossible to move. Water made its way up her throat, spilling over her lips. Her lungs were finally clear. They took in as much oxygen as they were allowed, burning with each brath.
“Lady Gwen! Lady Gwen!”
A young girl blocked out the bright sun. She shook Gwen’s shoulders desperately.
Gwen’s brain processed that the girl was not speaking English, but… she could understand her. The girl’s damp, dark hair was pulled into halves on either side of her face held in place by wide red straps. She looked at Gwen with deep concern, like a lifelong friend. But Gwen was sure she had never seen this girl before in her life.
“My Lady, can you hear me?” she asked frantically.
“Who are you?” Gwen finally choked out.
That made the girl pause in her panic. “What?”
Slowly regaining her strength, Gwen pushed herself up to her knees. As her eyesight cleared, she took in her surroundings. Gone were the tall metal and glass buildings, traffic lights, and speeding cars of her modern home. Now all that surrounded her were trees and a sandy beach of a large, calm lake. In the distance, wooden houses with curved rooftops, painted in bright reds and greens dotted the horizon. The heaviness that weighed her down was a dress made of too many layers and of no western fashion that she’d ever experienced before.
Whispers bounced around the rocky shore. All the faces that were looking on with concern around were unfamiliar. Gwen grabbed the hair cascading down her back, but it was still the red she knew, darker from the dampness of being pulled out of the water but still her hair.
“Where am I?” she asked in a quiet, gasping voice.
“My Lady, don’t you remember?” The girl panicked. “You’re in Songak. Goryeo.”
“Goryeo?” Gwen screeched. All the minor details she could summon up of the country came rushing to the forefront of her mind. It was information overload and her brain couldn’t handle it. Her lungs tried desperately to keep up, breathing in as much air as they could, but her throat was closing up from the panic. The landscape blurred and she fell to the ground.
                                          ********
She was in a bed this time when she regained consciousness. The room was cold and dimly lit with soft, orange candlelight. A man, Caucasian unlike the others, sat beside the bed on a stool, worry etched into every facet of his face.
“Gwen, sweet, are you all right?”
English. He was speaking English. But that was a footnote of comfort to the bigger problem. She still didn’t know what had happened to her or how she got here or who these people were that seemed to know her. The man, who was about in his mid-forties with salt and pepper hair, smiled down at her, though his eyes were confused. “Gwen, does it hurt anywhere? Can you tell me if you hit your head?”
Gwen took a moment, to calm down and to evaluate what she was feeling physically. Her head didn’t hurt, nor did any other part of her body. Wordlessly, she shook her head. The man seemed relieved.
“Are you all right?” He asked again, a different meaning under the question this time. “Chae Ryung said you couldn’t remember her or that we were in Goryeo? Do you at least remember your papa?”
Gwen weighed the choices in her mind. There wasn’t a mirror around, but she started to wonder if she had taken the place of someone else. Someone who knew these strangers. She could say that she didn’t know any of them - the truth - but would they think her mad if she spilled too much? Perhaps she could say she remembered a few things. Like him, if he is this poor girl’s father. Why am I here? In this time?
Choosing to comprise with herself, she gave the smallest of nods. “Papa.” Sitting up, she pulled him into a hug and there was something comforting about his embrace. This body remembered him, at least.
“What happened?” she asked after she let go.
“Chae Ryung said that you’d wandered off again and she found you, you’d been the water a long time.” The man, Papa, sucked in a breath, his eyes beginning to water. His genuine concern over her wellbeing made Gwen choke up as well. “The doctor said you stopped breathing. That could explain your lost memories.”
Good. The excuse was already in her hands. That should make it easy enough to play along while being forgiven for any missteps. But they shouldn’t be in Goryeo. That didn’t make any sense, historically. If anything, they might have been in Joseon – late Joseon. Was this some sort of alternate timeline? Or maybe she hit her head really hard in the car crash and this is really all a dream from the stress of her paper and too much K-drama.
Yes. Too much K-drama.
That had to be the explanation. This was all a strange dream. Which meant, she could play along and not be afraid. She could ask questions and live out the day until she woke back up in her own time, most likely in a hospital with a bandage on her head and her mother fretting over her.
She glanced around the room, taking in the architecture that she had only ever seen in pictures. In person, it was even more stunning and intricate. This wasn’t an ordinary citizen’s home. Interesting. What else could her brain come up with? “Why are we in Goryeo?”
“Your father’s a merchant, remember?” He spoke slowly. Each word was deliberate, giving Gwen time to process. Good filler for her mind. “I made a large fortune here and planned on taking you back home, but… your mother is buried here. We couldn’t leave her behind.”
A wave of emotion hit out of nowhere. Though her mother was alive and well, it didn’t stop a tear from escaping. “Mama.”
Papa wiped it away with a coarse finger. Gwen gasped back, surprised by the realness of the touch. Her dreams were never this intricate. The blanket strone across her lap scrunched in her fingers. It was cold and soft… and very real.
She wasn't dreaming, was she?
Confused by her reaction, Papa paused for a moment before continuing his explanation. “The eighth prince is graciously letting us stay with him while we wait on the construction of our home to be complete.”
The eighth prince?
Panic grew tenfold. If this wasn’t a dream, then she was in very big trouble. If history told her one thing, it was that proximity to royalty was the most dangerous place to be. Gwen might possibly have been able to skate by if they were simply staying in some unknown village far from the capital, but they were in a prince’s home. Which meant they were in… Songak, the capital city, just like that girl – Chae Ryung – had said. Right under the King’s nose. Breathing became difficult again. Each one was shallow, barely letting in any oxygen. Gwen could feel her chest tighten and her vision blurred.
“Gwen!” Papa jumped up and tried to keep her straight to give her lungs as much room as possible. He switched to Korean as he called out over his shoulder, “Someone, get the doctor! Now!” Shuffling sounds echoed off the floor on the other side of the sliding door and then faded away.
A minute later, breathing no better, two men and a woman rushed inside along with Chae Ryung. The older man stepped in front of Papa and took his place. He pushed Gwen’s shoulders gently until she was lying down. Two cold fingers against her wrist checked her pulse. The other, much younger man stepped up to Papa.
“What happened?”
Papa frowned. “It seems she’s lost some of her memories. I was explaining why we were here when suddenly she had trouble breathing.” He stopped, struggling with his own breath. “I’m sorry we’ve become a burden to you, Your Highness.”
Gwen’s breathing was regaining strength and she was able to concentrate on the conversation. So that was the eighth prince. He was younger than she would have guessed, handsome even, if she had to focus on something other than her lack of breath.
“Do not think such a thing,” the Eighth Prince replied. “Your presence has greatly improved the household. Lady Gwen will get better with time.”
Papa bowed, obviously grateful at the response. He turned to the woman. “Lady Hae, may I enquire after your own health?”
“Today is a better day,” she smiled, though her pale, drained complexion said otherwise. “Please, don’t worry about me. Keep your thoughts for your daughter.”
The doctor released Gwen’s wrist, satisfied with the improvement of her pulse and breathing. He stood up.
“It was a mild panic attack,” the doctor said calmly to Papa. “If it happens again, she should lie down and focus on her breathing. The incident at the lake seems to have taken a toll on her body. She simply needs rest. In time, her memories and her body will recover.”
Gwen didn’t agree with that statement fully. This body might get better in time, but there was no way memories that didn’t exist would ever return. One by one, the occupants left the room until it was only Gwen and Papa remaining behind. Silence hung in the air. After a moment, Papa sat down on the stool and took Gwen’s hand.
“I was worried I had lost you,” he whispered.
Gwen’s eyes fell down to the blanket covering her legs. Things were becoming clearer to her now. This was not a dream and she was no longer Gwen Sinclair from the twenty-first century. Something must have happened. She didn’t know what exactly had occurred or what would happen now, but she was here. And little did this man – known only to her as “Papa” – know that he had indeed lost his daughter. The face may be the same, but the Gwen inside was different. She would try her best to be good to him, at least until she found a way to get back to her own family. She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
                                          ********
The next morning, the doctor, along with the Eighth Prince, came back to check on Gwen. The doctor commented that her pulse was stronger and that she seemed well on the road to full health. However, he still insisted on keeping her on bedrest.
Bored with these same walls and too curious about her temporary home, Gwen sat up. If she was going to be here for a while, she might as well get to know it. “I’m fine. Please, don’t make me stay in here all day. The sun and air is good for you, isn’t it?”
The sudden rebelliousness against the doctor’s suggestion did not seem to sit well with any of them. Gwen gave Papa a pleading look. A father couldn’t resist those eyes. He sighed, turning to the doctor. “Perhaps, a little exercise in walking around the grounds would be all right?”
The doctor looked reluctant, but he agreed. “But she shouldn’t overexert herself.”
“Chae Ryung will stay with her,” the Eighth prince ordered. “If you’ll please excuse me, I must meet with my brothers.” He bowed and left, followed by the doctor.
Having heard her name from the hallway, Chae Ryung shuffled quickly inside and over to Gwen, holding out her arms for the latter to balance on as she slid off of the bed. “Are you sure you want to go outside?”
Gwen nodded. “Yes. Perhaps seeing more of this place will help jog my memory.”
Chae Ryung tilted her head. “How can your memory jog?”
Gwen snorted, both at Chae Ryung’s confusion and at herself for the slip of the modern phrase. “Sorry, I just meant, maybe my memories will come back.”
“Oh.” The look on her face was enough to make Gwen laugh again.
Gwen scolded herself internally. She had to be more careful with her words. Every step was one on thin ice. She couldn’t change who she was, not completely, but she would have to pull back. Chae Ryung, however, felt safe, like a shelter from the rain. With her, Gwen could find answers that might be dangerous to seek elsewhere. Straightening her shoulders, Gwen smiled broadly and took her newest friend’s hand. Chase Ryung grinned brightly at her and guided her out of the room.

A wholesome Dabi x reader one shot. SFW

“One month?!”
You saw your lover’s cerulean eyes getting wider in surprise as he tried to process what you just said to him.
“Sadly yes”
“But these trips have never lasted more than a week”
“I know, baby” you caressed his cheek, your eyes full of sadness “I hate it too that it has to be this long but what can I do? But you’ll see how fast this month will pass by, we won’t even feel it”
You grabbed him gently by his jacket to pull him closer to you as you hugged him, comforting him that you’ll be back soon, that time will go fast. But would it go fast for Dabi though?
The connection between you and Dabi was something nobody could even comprehend. You were so much into each other that whenever you weren’t close, you felt like you couldn’t breathe. Especially Dabi. Due to his.... tragic past we might say, he has always felt alone in this cruel world, nobody to be near for him and always feeling rejected. And when he found you, he felt like he found heaven. You showed him affection. You showed him what love is. You showed him that he deserved to be happy and loved like everyone else. You comforted him always when he had nightmares, telling him that the past doesn’t define him. That he is worthy, he is so strong and that you believed in him. He kept you close, you were his most precious gem. Whenever he’d come to visit you during your work time, he wondered if you were a character of some fairytale he used to read as a child. Your wet dark ocean hair falling on your shoulders, as you slowly got yourself up in the surface, your green teal eyes shining and giving him a smile which made his heart jump in excitement whenever he saw you. Your beauty was otherworldly. It’s not like every man got to have a girlfriend with mermaid quirk and Dabi considered himself lucky. He found your quirk amazing, everything about you was so unique to him. He liked to listen to you for hours and hours as you talked about the ocean, about your adventures in many trips you’ve been to, or the creepy encounters you’ve had with sharks. With you, everything seemed to be easier for him. With you, he for once thought that life can indeed be beautiful.
Dabi cupped your face with his hands as he kissed your forehead, looking you in the eyes. Damn, you could get lost in these piercing turquoise eyes of his...
“I understand my love” he quietly said. “I’ll miss you though. Please be careful, you’re precious to me.”
“I’ll miss you too” you felt tears forming in your eyes. “I’ll try to finish this as soon as possible. I can’t stay away from you either”
You gave him a deep kiss as he hugged you close.
“I’ll be waiting for you, princess”

It has been 14 days since you left on your trip. Dabi thought this would be easy, that he would find something to distract himself and maybe, just maybe time would go faster and you’d be back on his arms again. But no, he was wrong. It got pretty hard for him, especially during the night. Since he is always used to sleep on your chest as you ran his fingers through his hair, now it was hard for him to sleep alone. Also he started having some nightmares of you never coming back again, he started getting anxious. Dabi thought that he was being overdramatic, that you’d be back again and never leave him alone. Of course you’d be back. But his dark thoughts just filled his mind to the point he wanted to scream and cry.
You tried to text him as much as you could, whenever you had free time. You let him know that he was on your mind all the time, that you couldn’t wait till you came back to him. You told him that everything is going to be okay, that he is so strong for waiting this long. Somehow these texts would calm him down and he would read them from time to time to assure his mind that everything is going to be okay.
You also send him some photos and videos of yourself swimming deep in the sea, and lots of sea creatures swimming nearby. He would watch them every day with a smile on his face. How did he get this lucky to have such an amazing girlfriend?
During this month of being alone, he fully understood how dependent he was on you. How his whole body and soul where on your hands. He never believed in love and he never thought he would love someone this much, but now he does. And he wants to make you his forever, to be bonded together for life.
He wanted this to be special. He was a perfectionist for sure, and he’d do anything for you. A whole week was spent only to find the most precious gem he’d give to you while proposing you to be his forever. Dabi felt a bit anxious at first, what if you said no? What if you weren’t ready? But then, he’d wait for you until you were ready, even if that meant waiting for a whole lifetime.
***
Finally a month had passed and that early morning you texted him that you’d be back by the afternoon. Dabi’s eyes shined with happiness. You too were so excited to meet your lover again, it’s not like that month had been easy for you either. No matter how busy you were during the trip, your mind constantly thought of Dabi.
Dabi was waiting for you near the port, wearing a black hoodie with a jacket and a pair of sunglasses so he wouldn’t be noticed by other civilians. His heart was filled with so many emotions, feeling butterflies in his stomach as he waited for your arrival. He noticed the ship coming near the port, and he noticed you sitting there. He was impatient. Fuck, he missed you so much.
As you got out of the ship, you noticed your boyfriend from afar. Your eyes filled with tears, your heart almost pumping out of your chest as you ran fast, faster than ever before. Dabi saw you coming towards him, and he hurried his way to you, with arms opened and a smile on his face. He’d be crying now if he hadn’t his tear glands burned. You screamed his name while jumping on him and making him fall over with you on top.
“My angel, my princess. My love. Fuck I’ve missed you” he hugged you tight as you kept kissing him all over his face, crying and giggling at the same time. He buried his head on your neck as his grip got tighter, hugging you so tight as if you were about to swim away at any moment.
“Dabi, I... I have missed you too. So much I-“ you couldn’t finish your sentence as you sobbed on his chest. “I don’t want to be away from you. Ever again!”
“Please don’t leave me again princess. This month was hell itself without you” he grabbed your face with both of his hands, wiping the tears off your cheeks as he stared at your eyes. “Fuck baby, you are so gorgeous. Please don’t cry now we’re back together again, my precious.”
You smiled as you both dived in for a deep passionate kiss, not caring if others were watching you. This month was torture for the both of you but it made you fully realize how much you needed each other.
***
You both spent the rest of the day together. He listened to you with full attention as you spoke about the adventures during your trip. He’d interrupt you to kiss your lips from time to time, like... way too often. You didn’t mind of course. It didn’t take long enough for it to turn into a makeout session.
Dabi had told you to be ready around 9PM so you could go somewhere together. You felt excited and so curious, because he didn’t tell you where you’d go.
You wore a cute dress in a babyblue color. Dabi couldn’t take his eyes off you as he told you to turn around and do a little spin. You felt flattered at your boyfriend’s praises and compliments, as he would come to kiss your blushing cheeks.
Dabi drove you both to an empty beach nearby, well... not that empty. There was...a table? With food in it. Two glasses of champagne and some candles around it. You’ve never had dinner in the middle of the beach. You jumped in excitement and hugged Dabi close.
“A date on the beach! I love it! You seriously did this all for me?”
“I felt like I haven’t done anything baby. You deserve more than this” he kissed your forehead and reached his hand. “Come with me”
You felt at peace, dining out on the beach with your beloved one as the sound of sea waves gently kissing the shore filled your ears. You felt happy. So lucky to have all of this, to have him. And you made sure to tell that to him every second.
As you finished eating and started walking together, you saw him stop for a moment. He turned you around, grabbed both of your hands together while looking in your eyes. You didn’t know what’s going on and you felt your heart pump fast.
“Y/N, my precious angel, you know I love you so much right? That I can’t live any second away from you”
“I do” you whispered, a soft smile on your face. “I love you too. So much”
He kissed your cheek as his grip on your hands tightened a bit.
“I want you to be mine forever. To be bonded with you forever, until the last seconds of my life.”
He kneeled down in front of you, roaming through his pocket and finally getting out, a ring. With a deep blue sapphire gemstone in it. Your eyes widened, your body froze for a second as he opened his mouth to speak.
“So... will you marry me, my precious? Be mine forever? Continue the rest of this life in each other’s embrace till death do us part?”
You gulped down, tears forming in your eyes as your hands started shaking. Dabi proposed you! You!! You were proposed by the love of your life! You couldn’t believe your ears and eyes. You tried to catch your breath, as you gave him the biggest happiest smile that has ever been in your face.
“I w-wanna be yours forever. And you.. mine”. Tears wouldn’t let you speak properly as you were getting way too emotional. So you decided to shout it out loud.
“I do!! I do want to marry you!”. The smile on Dabi’s face was indescribable, the most beautiful thing you’ve seen in this life. He put the ring in your finger, as you threw yourself to him, hugging him so tight almost taking his breath away. He chuckled as he whispered in your ear.
“I may kiss the bride now”
He cupped your face with his hand, pulling you closer and giving you a passionate kiss. Your hands wrapped around his neck, as your tongues swirled together, exploring each others mouth. Then he pulled away, slowly kissing your tears and wiping them off with his thumb.
“I love you. You are my precious wife”
Wife.
His wife.
You couldn’t feel more happier. You had finally found your happiness. And it was him.
Your husband.
Your Dabi.

Meg's Game of Tales: Tale 7
Tumblr media
*Familiar characters are NEVER mine! The original "The Little Mermaid" was written by Hans Christian Andersen.*
Warnings: Part 1/2, angst-ish, mentions of magic., Little Mermaid AU
Pairings: Eventual Theon Greyjoy x fem!reader
You bit back a sigh as your father's harsh words went in one ear and out the other. You knew he was angry, but you couldn't bring yourself to care. You just didn't see what the big deal was. No one had seen you. Not really. You were careful. But you couldn't help it. Curiosity had always been your weakness. You wanted to know about anything and everything. That included the surface and the humans that lived there.
"Yes, Father," came out of your mouth when your father finished his typical tirade. It was the same thing every time so you pretty much knew it by heart now. Without another word or even a look at him, you swam away, your (f/c) tail propelling you forward as fast as it could.
It wasn't that you didn't like living under the sea. It was beautiful and fun. A place untouched by war or famine. A place where a mermaid could swim and sing and enjoy life. But you were drawn to the surface. Humans were beautiful. They invented wonderful things and you wanted to know more. You father and siblings could never understand that. Still, you always made sure to stay out of sight. That is, until one night.
A terrible storm had you at the surface again only this time, you were at least attempting to help get the creatures closer to the surface to safety. That was when you saw the ship. It was larger than anything you'd ever seen on the surface, but it was caught out in this storm. Even from a distance, you could see it beginning to break apart. So you did the only thing you could think of. You swam closer, eager to help if you could.
It looked like the majority of the people were already pulled under or were floating lifelessly upon pieces of the shipwreck. However, you saw the head of one of them bobbing in and out of the surface of the ocean. You swam as quickly as you could over to him and pulled him to shore just as the sun was beginning to rise.
You glanced down at the face of this human, completely captivated by him. Curly light brown locks were sticking to his forehead and water was trapped in the short beard that decorated his jaw. His shirt had opened a bit to reveal a smattering of light brown curls along his chest, along with several scars. He was such a beauty to look at, you nearly forgot that he wasn't breathing properly. That is until he took one large breath, making you jump slightly.
You were fidgeting as his eyes began to open. For some reason you couldn't explain, you needed to see his eyes. You just had to. Your patience was soon rewarded with the sight of the most stunning blue-grey eyes you'd ever seen. However, you didn't get to look long. You heard a voice calling out to someone. That was your cue to get out of there. Before the man could say a word, you dove back into the sea, hiding as quickly as possible. Once the man was out of sight, you smiled to yourself.
That was why your father had been yelling at you. For saving that human. Not that you were particularly paying attention to what he was ranting about. Your mind was elsewhere. On that human. That beautiful human. You needed to see him again. But it was hopeless. It wasn't like you could live on the surface...Or could you?!
It was insane to even think of it, but there was a way. You knew that. You bit your lip as you contemplated it. Could you really go against your father and seek her out? It might have been your only chance to see your prince again. With one look back at where you'd left your father, you made up your mind. You had to see the Red Witch. Melisandre.
The sea seemed to grow darker as you approached the place Melisandre was supposedly banished to. The water was cold and you could hardly see in front of you. Still, even as the cold began to seep into your bones, you kept going. This was your only chance.
"Come in, child," her soft yet strong voice beckoned from deep within the grotto. Shivering, you swam closer to meet with someone you weren't expecting. Despite all the rumors, Melisandre was quite beautiful. You'd heard she was a twisted and ugly crone. That anyone who looked at her would have nightmares for the rest of their lives. This was far from the truth and you'd have to have a talk with those people about making such horrible assumptions.
"Forgive my intrusion," you began softly, "I was hoping-"
"You were hoping I could help you," she cut you off, "I can, of course. With the help of the god I serve." She swam over to the wall of the grotto, plucking a vial of something from the rocks. "This will allow you to become human for three days. Only three. Before the sun sets on the third day, you have to get that human to kiss you. If you do, you shall remain human forever." Your heart leapt in your chest. Human forever? You could spend the rest of your life out of the sea.
"A-And, if he doesn't kiss me?" An almost wicked smile made its way to her lips. "Then the Lord of Light shall demand payment. Your soul." You became light-headed at the thought. Either the prince fell in love with you or you were going to die. Was it worth it?
"Three days?" She nodded. "Three days or my soul…" you muttered. "Yes. Of course, there is also the subject of payment." You let out a sigh as you wondered how much you would be willing to sacrifice to finally achieve your dream. "I don't have anything." Melisandre swam closer to you and brushed her long finger along the column of your throat. "The Lord of Light does not ask for much. A small sacrifice you will hardly miss. Your voice."
"My voice? But how can I-"
"Do not underestimate your ability to get your point across. Women have an unspoken language when it comes to those they are attracted to, do they not? And, should the prince kiss you before the end of the third day, your voice will return to you." You only let your mind work for a moment. You knew you'd never get another chance like this. So, you nodded.
You could feel her magic working as your voice was practically ripped from you. "You may want to start swimming." It took a moment for your mind to catch up to what she was saying. Then you realized that if you weren't close to the surface when the magic took effect, you could drown. You gave her a quick nod of thanks and then began the long swim up to the surface.
You swam as fast as you could. You could just make out the rising of the sun above the water when you felt your tail beginning to change. The pain was almost excruciating, but you kept moving. The pain would surely disappear once the magic was done. You just needed to break the surface of the ocean before that happened. So, you pushed on. You could feel your lungs start to burn as the foreign need for air began to take over. Your vision began to tunnel, but still you kept swimming. Finally, after what felt like hours, you broke the surface, gasping for air for the first time in your life.
(a/n: There will be a 2nd part to this tale as well! That's 3 so far that will have continuing parts! If you'd like to be tagged, please let me know.)

pirate king (11) || atz
Tumblr media
He pulls you through the town, back to the harbor where you can see several ships docked in the piers. But to your surprise, Jongho doesn’t lead you back to the Treasure. Instead, he drags you to a small bakery selling pastries and sweets.
You turn to him confusedly. “Jongho-hyung, what are we doing here?”
“Pick three cakes.” He gestures at the shelves. The establishment is neat and well kept for a pirate town, and the cakes look rather high quality compared to the other shops you saw earlier. It must be expensive. But since he told you to do it, you obey.
The shop owner takes your pastries and puts them in a little paper bag. Then Jongho adds several more cakes to the order, until his arms are laden with bags of sweet treats.
“Let’s sit.” He tells you gruffly, pulling you to one of the tables outside and sitting you down. You continue staring at him in complete bewilderment even as he pulls out your pastry and sets it in front of you.
“Eat.”
Your mouth falls open. Then you lean forward, pressing a palm against Jongho’s forehead as you look into his eyes intently. “Jongho-hyung, are you experiencing any dizziness or discomfort?”
The maknae jerks back at the contact, face twisted in a confused scowl as he shakes his head. “What? No! What are you-”
“You need to be honest with me, Jongho-hyung.” You look into his eyes carefully, searching for wavering pupils or the like and your voice drops to a secretive whisper. “Have you been drinking without telling Seonghwa-hyung?”
“No! Why are you even asking me this? I'm not being weird!” Jongho yelps as he scoots back further from you, the sound of his chair dragging across the stone floor making both of you wince. “I'm not drunk! I’m not sick either!”
“Okay…” You continue to stare at him with worried eyes as you take a bite of your puff, the sweet taste of cream spreading over your tongue. The young battlemaster sighs.
“I just wanted to talk to you.” He glances away from you for a moment to collect his thoughts, before he opens his mouth to speak again.
“I don't hate you, okay?”
His words are mumbled under his breath, so you lean across the table to hear him more clearly.
“What?”
“I don't hate you!” He shouts, clearly embarrassed. His cheeks are tinged pink and you look at him in surprise.
“Shut up, kid!” One of the bakery’s patrons shouts at the two of you and you shy back into your chair, feeling your cheeks burning.
“Oh.” Is all you manage.
You’re a little shocked. With how he’d been treating you this while, you thought he’d hated you, loathed you, even. While you weren’t sure why, you had thought he had disliked you immensely.
“Wipe that dumb look from your face before I smack it off.” Jongho grunts, and you realise that your lips are pulled into a wide grin. Hurriedly, you try to hide your Cheshire Cat smile, but it’s impossible. “I mean it!”
Finally with much difficulty, you press your face into a poor attempt at a serious look, much to Jongho’s chagrin. He sighs, slapping a hand against his forehead.
“I’m just awkward with new people, okay?” You’ve never seen the young battlemaster this skittish. Even in battle, he’s always possessed some kind of quiet, silent self confidence, not an ounce of self doubt in him. “And I was always the youngest till you came along, so I’m not sure how I’m supposed to… take care of you.”
You’re oddly touched by this for a moment. This strong man, who can handle even the fiercest of enemies, awkward and shy… because he doesn’t know how to take care of you.
A giggle somehow manages to leave your mouth. “That’s cute.”
“What! No!” Jongho cries in horror, looking desperate now. “I’m not cute-” A disgusted glower paints his face as the last word passes his lips.
“Boy, shut up before I come over and shoot you myself!” The shopkeeper bellows from behind the counter, and Jongho slumps back into his seat, groaning in despair at your irrepressible smile.
“Forget I said anything.” His words are muffled against the table top.
The two of you sit in peace for a long moment. It’s silent, like how it was between the two of you before, but where there was discomfort, now there is a happy warmth that fills you from the inside. Maybe it is because you’ve lost your memories, but with every new person that you meet, they root and grow themselves in your heart.
“Jongho-hyung…” You suddenly speak up, breaking the silence you two had been enjoying. The young battlemaster raises an eyebrow as he looks over at you questioningly. “What song did you sing when I was tied to the mast?”
“Song?” He frowns, but you can see baby pink blossoming on his cheeks like cherry blossom petals. “I sing a lot. Do you remember the lyrics?”
You recite what you remember. “Born on the wrong side of the ocean…”
“Ahh.” A small, sad smile pulls at the corners of Jongho’s mouth, the look softening his serious expression as he glances towards the harbor. The sun has just begun to set, the rosy light casting Jongho in a halo of warm oranges and pastel pinks. “It’s an old song. My mother used to sing it to me when I was still a child.”
The look on his face is forlorn, a little happy, a little sad, a little wistful. His eyes seem to be looking at something so far away, gazing at some point in his past that you can’t see.
“Jongho-hyung… where is your mother?”
That snaps the maknae out of his thoughts, the smile falling from his face as he inhales deeply. “She’s dead now. Died of consumption a few years ago. Didn’t get the medicine she needed and left. She’s in a better place now.”
You blink once. “That’s sad.” The cream puff is finished off, and you lean back to look at Jongho. His gaze never leaves the ocean as he continues to speak.
“Dad died before she did. In a hurricane offshore. Never got to see a trace of him again except the smashed up remains of his boat.” He points to a piece of tattered white fabric he wears around his shoulders.  “This is from the wreckage.”
His voice is thick with emotion, but his face remains solidly strong. You feel something stirring in your chest, something that seems to want to swallow your lungs whole. You frown and touch your chest. Is there something wrong with you?
“But enough about my sad backstory. What’s over is over, and what’s left for me to do is move on.” Jongho’s voice doesn’t waver at all as he thumps his chest. “They live on in here. I’ll live well for the two of them and never shed a tear again. Can’t let them be worried about me.”
His smile returns, a genuine and powerful one this time. For a moment, you’re so lost in it that you can barely breathe. Jongho is the epitome of strong. Not just physically, but in the heart, and in every sense of the word.
“Anyway, what about you, stowaway?” He cocks his head as he shoves a meat stuffed bun into his mouth. You look confused for a moment. What past do you have to tell? “What’s with that necklace around your neck?”
Ah. Your fingers reach up to stroke the silver chain resting against your delicate collarbones. Your only link to your past, the last thread you have connecting you to who you were before.
“I don’t know.” You murmur softly, feeling a lump rise in your throat. “I woke up with it.”
“I know Hongjoong-hyung said you’re an amnesiac.” Jongho looks at you firmly, but curiosity brims behind his eyes. “But do you really remember… nothing?”
You close your eyes. For a second, white dances behind your eyelids, the sound of sea crashing against the shore filling your ears and rain touches your face.
Then a single, unblinking red eye looms into your mind.
Your breath catches in your throat as your eyes fly open. You can still see it, a monstrous thing, a dark, hulking shape in the depths that has been forever chasing you… following you…
You’re not sure how Jongho will react right now if you tell him you could hear the voice of a giant squid monster which was chasing the Treasure, so you merely hold your tongue and shake your head.
Jongho is silent for a moment.
Then suddenly he rises to his feet, abruptly grabbing you by the arm. You follow, a little stunned by his strange change in demeanor, and Jongho whirls to look at you with resolution carved into his face.
“You’ve got whipped cream on your nose.” The young battlemaster swipes the sweet smudge off with a finger and licks it off, to your horror.
“That’s disgusting, Jongho-hyung.” You scrunch up your nose, but you’re not sure why he’s suddenly so eager to do something. Jongho begins pulling you somewhere, much to your surprise.
“Where are we going?”
“When I first came to Tortuga, I had just lost my parents and joined the crew.” Jongho tells you earnestly, leading you down past the harbor to a more lively, darker part of town by the shore. Many street vendors and shopkeepers with makeshift booths line the wooden docks, all offering some sort of rare, exotic wares, but Jongho simply brushes past all of them without a second glance. “And by coincidence, I visited a fortune teller.”
“I didn’t peg you for the superstitious type, hyung.” Is all you say as you take in the new environment all around you. The place is a little shady, with suspicious characters slinking away at every turn and dark, hooded men crouching behind corners. But with one glance from Jongho and they scatter, clearly intimidated by the way his fingers inch for the handle of his cutlass.
You remember what Yunho had told you about Jongho just earlier this morning.
He’s a great fighter and he has strong protective instincts. You’re probably safer with him than in the sickbay.
“I’m not superstitious.” Jongho tries to defend himself, but sees the look on your face and sighs. “There’s something different about this fortune teller. I never believed magic existed till I met San-hyung… but this fortune teller has a similar aura I get from hyung.”
You immediately understand what he’s talking about. Your master has a pulse about him that you’ve always been able to feel, like the warmth emanating from the sun and a gentle pulse that draws people to him, a comforting softness.
You’ve never seen San use his ‘inner energy’, as he calls it, but the feeling you get from him is no lie.
“But why do you want me to come to a fortune teller, hyung?” Nerves and a deep sadness twist within you. “There’s no point in knowing what’s going to happen. If I can’t remember my past, what’s the point of looking at the future?”
Jongho then stops you in your tracks, placing his hands on your shoulders. His eyes are both gentle and earnest at the same time, searching yours and for a second you can’t look away.
“You may not have a past yet.” The grin on his face is wild, brimming with confidence. “But we sure as hell are going to be your future.”

Six of Crows - A Helnik Story, angst, slight fluff requested by @musicallisto
tw: a suggestive comment, grief, spoilers for crooked kingdom
word count: 1.5k
prompt: “i’m here for you. i have your back.”
A/N: y’know, this turned out pretty decent, but ohmygod... you guys should have seen the scene that was painted in my head... it would have made you sob.
Summary: Fear and uncertainty didn’t belong here. Not in Novyi Zem. Not with Matthias.
Tumblr media
Novyi Zem was beautiful. In the morning, the sun rose steadily, filtering through slatted blinds and spilling across the floor, warming the shadows until they disappeared from view. In the mid-afternoon, its bustling cities were full of life - laughter seemingly reverberating from the very ground, the smell of food wafting through the clear air, the bright, sparkling ocean bringing in a soft breeze that ruffled skirts and jackets. In the evening, its farmlands hummed with the music of crickets, lush greens and dying yellows stretching onto infinity.  Colm Fahey lived in Cofton, with rows and rows of jurda plants, all of them vibrantly orange, flowering under the warm summer sun.
Once, maybe a lifetime ago, Colm Fahey told Nina and the rest of the crows that his home was open to them, should they need it. Jesper had laughed as though the offer were a joke without a punchline, and Kaz had assured Mr. Fahey that they would never be passing by.
Nina was the one to laugh, now.
Novyi Zem was one stop on a trip to somewhere much warmer, and when they were running low on coin, Wylan pointed out that Jesper's family home wasn't far from them. Kaz said they would stop for only a day or two. How long had they been there, now? Two weeks? Maybe longer?
Nina was pleased with the arrangement. As long as there was enough flour for waffles and enough sun for warmth, she could gladly stay in Novyi Zem forever.
The sounds of the farm were a charming cacophony that rooted Nina to this reality - to this beautiful, warm world. Nina lay in the fields, her hair haloing outward, her palms digging into the fresh grass. She closed her eyes, feeling the sun on her face, its golden and amber hues playing against the dark of her eyelids. The sun was a brilliant ball of light, kissing Nina's skin and warming her from the outside in - penetrating the bone. Never had she known warmth such as this.
In the Heartrender rooms of the Little Palace, Nina was taught the secrets of the body and the science of bending it to your will. She learned everything - from releasing chemicals in the brain for good spirits to inducing heart attacks that could prove fatal, given a particular turn of the wrist. Nina mastered how to increase blood flow and quicken the heartbeat, and ever since, she kept herself warm.
Nina had only ever been cold twice in her life, in the orphanage where she grew up and on a boat lost in a tempest. Warmth was a luxury that a Grisha Heartrender could afford, and Nina swore that she would never be cold again. Not after the orphanage. Not after the storm. Not after...
Novyi Zem was beautiful, but mostly, it was warm.
"What are you doing?" Matthias' voice called out -  rich, full of teasing and mirth. She could hear the steady beat of his heart as he came closer, walking toward her from the barn, where Colm kept his harvesting tools.
Nina didn't have to open her eyes to know he was smiling. "Enjoying the sun," she replied.
Matthias scoffed, but he laid down next to her all the same.
"Do you not do that in Fjerda, drüskelle?" Nina opened her eyes and shot him a teasing glance. His cheeks were a ruddy pink, full of life and love. For a moment, Nina didn't want to let go. She shifted onto her side, but her eyes never left him. "Do you just sit around all day and hope the temperature drops below zero?"
Matthias rolled his eyes. Hips lips parted softly. "We are not in Fjerda."
"Thank the Saints for that. I've had enough ice to last a lifetime."
Matthias chuckled, and Nina bit her lip to stop a giddy grin from crossing her face. The sun beat down on them, warm and full of zest. Nina moved to grab his hand but hesitated, pausing halfway in the space between. Matthias didn't notice - his eyes were on the sky, far away from her.
"I would like to go back, someday." And the wind came by at the mention of Fjerda, as though he were summoning it all on his own. It made the jurda sway, and the breeze seemed to carry a message.
"Take root... follow the water north..."
Nina grabbed Matthias' strong hand; it was warm. She squeezed it tightly, feeling the steady beat of his heart; warm, alive.
"We'll go," Nina said, her smile smaller than before. Her voice cracked, and something was breaking in her chest because of it - something raw and heaving that didn't belong in Novyi Zem. Not with Colm Fahey - so kind as to invite everyone over to stay. Not with a home with fields of jurda and always enough flour to make waffles. Not the with this sun that shined down on them, begging them to stay. Not with the warmth and the love and the life.
"You will come with me?"
Nina blinked.
"And let you go alone? You'd never make it." And Matthias chuckled again, an exasperated breath of delight. His blue eyes were sparkling with the light of the sun. She let go of him slowly, their hands still brushing. He was here - he always would be. Nina taunted him more. "Have you ever had to charm a barkeep for a meal?"
"No. But I would work for one."
"Oh, so you would sell your body, then?"
Matthias' expression turned scandalous for a heartbeat. He turned to her incredulously, but when he saw the wide smile that stretched over Nina's face, he heaved a dry laugh. Nina raised her eyebrows and started to chuckle.
"You—" but he was laughing too hard to finish, his breathy chuckles turning into bursts of rich laughter, a sound deep in his chest, warming Nina to the bone. She grinned with him, peals of laughter ripping through her until her sides hurt from the pure joy it all, the brightness of their love, all-encompassing and fading into the air. Nina's heart ached - it was too full.
She poked Matthias' sides, and his laughter intensified. Eventually, he captured her hands in his and held them close to his chest, still laughing, all the while. Their love was warm and radiant, but his eyes were an icy, frozen blue - the tundra from which he came. Nina stared into them deeply, wishing to memorize the look in his eyes. A beautiful, pale blue. Steady like the ice. Glassy...
Tears pricked Nina's eyes, spilling down her cheeks. She was crying.
For a moment, she wondered if it was from the laughter at all.
"We'll go together," Matthias affirmed, his voice no longer laughing, his expression turning back into that sculpted, strong sense of calm. He kissed her fingers before letting them go, reaching up to wipe the tears that glistened on her cheeks.
"Always?" Nina's voice shook, an uncharacteristic uncertainty in her tone. Her hands were shaking, but she couldn't understand why. Was it fear?
No.
No. Fear didn't belong here. Not in Novyi Zem. Not with Matthias.
Matthias had an easy smile on his face. He leaned back in the richly colored grass and sighed, content. "Are you planning on holding me hostage if I do not say yes?"
"If I say yes, will you stay?"
Matthias smiled and closed his eyes; he breathed deeply like he couldn't get enough air in his lungs. For a moment, Nina was in Ketterdam, crying over the dark cobblestones, holding Matthias in her arms. He was there, with her, and he was pale... so pale...
No.
"Matthias?"
He was smiling like some kind of victorious Saint, the sunlight woven into his hair. He didn't open his eyes.
"Helvar."
A jurda plant broke as though snapped by a nonexistent breeze. It fell on Matthias' chest, but its color was red, not that vibrant, wholesome orange. A red tulip from the Van Eck gardens - not from Novyi Zem. Not from here.
"Drüskelle!"
Matthias' eyes snapped open. He had just been dozing.
"Nina?"
They were on the dirty streets of Ketterdam. The world was chaos - full of plague alarms and hellfire - and Nina was slipping into her grief, drowning in mourning, floundering in this power that couldn't save him. She was holding onto him, again, but his body was already claimed by death; cold. So, so cold.
"Come back," Nina sobbed.
“I’m here for you, Nina. I'll always have your back.” But his voice was no longer his, just an echo of someone who once was, just the cruel imaginings of her mind, dark and hollow - grieving, still.
"Come back to me, then. Don't leave me, Matthias. Please."
"I have been made to protect you. Even in death, I will find a way."
Nina took in a shuddering breath, and all around her, the beauty of Novyi Zem crumbled. Her world - her beautiful, warm world - was fading, blanching into nothing and burning into pale, grey ash. The wind was whipping around her, and the Fjerdan ice was unforgivingly claiming her.
She was sitting on the shore with tears crystallized on her eyelashes. The sun had long since dipped over the horizon, and she was cold. So, so cold.

Okay so I know you just wrote something for Roger contradicting this topic, but, would you be willing to write something on being married to him? Just like random little domestic scenes? Include kids if you like, or not, it doesn’t matter to me. Let me know if you wouldn’t be willing to write this - thank you.
sorry this took me so long, but of course! i love the domesticity trope!!
(i did not proofread this because my brain is tired :))
Roger had opposed marriage since the very start. In fact, it’d been one of the first conversations you’d ever had with him.
Back when you’d met him at a party, without an inkling as to who he wasn, and he’d found his anonymity to you refreshing.
And, as the night went on, alluring. He liked getting to know you. You could tell as much, from the way he stared into your eyes.
“Marriage,” he’d mused. “No, I just can’t see myself ever getting married.”
You’d raised your eyebrows, sipped your drink. “What’s got you so cynical?”
Roger sniffed. “You’d think there was a reason, right? Something that’s made me loathe the idea of being bound to another.”
“And is there?” you’d asked.
Roger’s hair fell into his eyes as he dipped his head, for once neglecting your gaze.
“No,” he said softly. “Not really. Other than the fact that I’m terrified of letting my partner down.”
It’d struck a chord with you. Not even the likes of Roger Taylor were immune to fear of failure.
Cautiously, you’d leaned forward, and swept your fingers beneath his chin. He’d raised his head to meet your eyes, and you’d drowned in those baby blues. Over and over, his eyes were a waterfall, the sea, the shore, the sky on a bright summer’s day. He’d looked at you so earnestly.
“I don’t think you would,” you murmured.
He’d kissed you then. Soundly. And there’d been nothing but his mouth on yours, the world dispersing around your very body. There was simply Roger. And you.
And five years down the line, he’d proposed.
Your immediate response had been to ask him if he was sure, because you’d always known how he felt about marriage.
But he’d drawn breath, and with it came tears to his eyes, and he’d cupped your face in his hands, and whispered,
“I understand now. And I want you. With me. Forever.”
You’d said yes, of course.
In the days, months, years that followed, you’d never been happier.
1985
Roger couldn’t cook for the life of him, but you refused to spend the rest of your life as the only person in the household with the ability to prepare a meal, so you’d been sure to set him right.
Your first lesson to him had been in boiling pasta, and then gradually, you’d progressed to more difficult things.
He’d done quite alright up until now.
Now, you were making stir-fry, and Roger was suffering.
Well, he’d stopped suffering; he’d given up trying.
You were stirring the rice and vegetables, but you didn’t mind, because Roger was, in a rare moment of unabashedness, dancing around the kitchen. There was a Suzi Quatro song on the radio, and he was singing to it. He’d met Quatro on an episode of Pop Quiz, where the two had been on the same team, alongside Cozy Powell. For a moment there, watching from the audience, you’d been jealous, because Suzi leaned quite close to your husband and laughed loudly, but as soon as the taping of the episode was finished, you’d met Suzi. She’d been funny and kind, and confessed that she’d been teasing your husband incessantly about how in love he was with you, in between takes, and Roger had kept shushing her as soon as the cameras veered back over to their side of the room.
Roger, for his part, had swept you into his arms and whirled you around, set you back down and announced that he couldn’t wait to get home. You’d called him a sore loser, and he’d tousled your hair and kissed your cheek, and told you he’d get you back for saying that.
“So you dance, now?” you asked, turning your head over your shoulder to look at Roger skeptically.
“Only for you,” he said, and wrapped his arms around you, pressed his lips to your neck.
You’d squealed as he’d pulled you away from the cooking food to dance with you, twirling you about, the kitchen becoming a ballroom.
“Roger, I need to keep an eye on that!”
He’d pouted, drawn you close. “No, you don’t.”
“It’s going to burn—”
“So then we order takeaway.” He had an arm wound around your waist, and took your other hand in his. “But right now,” he leaned his forehead against yours, “I want to dance with you.”
And so you giggled and relented, and danced with your husband.
“Roger,” you called, “can you come here a sec?”
The padding of socked feet against hardwood floors announced Roger’s arrival. You assumed, anyway. You couldn’t really afford to turn around, at present.
“Y/N! Get down from there at once!”
You were on a ladder, standing on your tiptoes to change the stupid lightbulb in the hall, the one that had always been a little too high for you to reach, even with the added height of the ladder.
“I’ve almost got it,” you said, reached over your head, as Roger crossed his arms, his brow creasing, “but if you could just hold the ladder— fuck!”
The lightbulb had made it into its place on the ceiling, but you were falling backwards, body flush with adrenaline, time slowing as you watched the ground draw nearer, and waited for the inevitable injury you would face upon hitting the floor.
But then Roger was there, catching you swiftly, and the only distance you fell was into his arms. Unfortunately for the both of you, Roger’s balance was upset in catching you, and so the two of you ended up in a heap on the floor.
Roger groaned. “Fell right on my arse.”
Sitting up, you laughed, taking his face in your hands and kissing him swiftly. “I guess you could say you fell for me.”
Your husband rolled his eyes, and you laughed again, at how his hair was sticking up at the ends, at his nose, pink from the winter cold.
“You love me,” you teased.
He sighed. “I do. And I always will.”
He gathered you into his arms, and the two of you sat huddled on the floor long after the lightbulb above your heads had begun to shine once more.
Roger was good with children. He’d always been good with children. But this child was yours. His. And your daughter could not have hoped for a better father.
He taught her to ride a bike and went on bike rides with her once she’d learnt to keep her balance, and held her close as the waves crashed when you went to the seaside as a family, and she giggled as she cuddled her dad and he beamed at her, and you watched them from where you reclined on the sand with a book.
He read to her and sang to her, and when your birthday rolled around, he’d helped her to write a card to you, though he claimed she’d done it all herself. He winked at you as your daughter hugged you, and you smiled back at him.
In the evening of your birthday, your daughter sat between the two of you on the sofa, asleep in front of the film that was still playing. Her head rested on your stomach as you combed your fingers through her hair, but her little hand still clutched her father’s.
Roger sighed, and you looked over to find him grinning at you.
You raised your eyebrows. “What?”
He shrugged. “I love this. I love being married to you.”
You felt your chest tighten at his words, at how easily they spilled from his lips, without halting, without hesitation.
“I love you,” you said.
Roger’s smile turned brighter, and his eyes twinkled. Leaning over, he kissed the top of his daughter’s head, then captured your lips with his own.
He kissed you once, twice, and the taste of caramel lingered on your lips from the chocolate you’d shared earlier.
Roger stilled, nudging his nose against yours, his breath fanning over your mouth in soft waves, framing you in warmth the way his hair framed his face, like sunlight on a summer’s day.
“I love you more,” he whispered.
You shook your head, laughter already in your throat. “Not true.”
“Then I love you precisely as much as you love me.”
“That’s a hell of a lot.”
He laughed and you smiled, and the three of you fell asleep atop the sofa cushions as the night dwindled into dawn, and a new day broke upon the best version of life you’d ever lived.

The sun burned hot on your skin underneath the cover of the ocean side trees. The sand below your bodies was scorching, but the stinging heat of the minute granules didn't compare to the white hot passion crackling and thumping in your veins. You could taste the salt in the air from the waves lapping at the shoreline. Your emotive cries mixed with the seagulls cawing to keep the two of you hidden from everyone but yourselves.
Javi's wide palm wrapped around your neck, his fingers intertwining with the gold necklaces he had bought for you earlier in the week and putting firm pressure on your throat.
The jewelry pulled against your quivering skin as his hand flexed around the column of your neck, sending a delicious ripple of pain and pleasure down your spine.
His face was tucked into the curve of your neck, his breath awakening each pore as it fanned upon it and his mustache sending off tiny explosions on your skin. "One sip from Aphrodite's fountain." He whispered, tugging the end of your earlobe in between his teeth as he chuckled.
You moaned as your back arched up from the hot sand, your arm reaching up to claw at his back and-
Your alarm blared in your small bedroom and you awoke with a start. The heat of the sun and of dream Javier, faded from your skin.
With a deep sigh, you allowed the dream to float out of your mind and up to the blue-painted dome ceiling. You ran a defeated hand over your face and stretched your groggy limbs.
~~~~~~
Your day trekked on-wards, but your mind was stuck trying to water down and digest the feelings your dream had brought back to you. It had been years since you had seen Javier Gutierrez, five to be exact, and there was no reason that he should have been something other than a quick 'What a wild two weeks it's been! Javi and I danced on the beach, and we kissed on the beach, and we...all over the beach' in your journal.
But he hadn't been.
With his perfectly tanned skin and the shimmer of his golden rings, he had become stuck in your memory for the better part of five years. The want of him served as the only string that pulled you to think farther than the island. The fantasy of the life you could have had with him, or he with you, carried you through your days, a welcome distraction to the mundane toil and grind of running a tourist hotel.
You fiddled with your breakfast at the makeshift break room table; a lousy portion of eggs, bread, and sauteed vegetables taking up your plate. Sighing heavily and looking down at the cold coffee at the bottom of your mug, your mind began to replay your memories of Javi and the summer you shared. You remembered the weight of his hand in yours and how safe you had felt in his arms.
Just then, an employee called your name from the lobby, and with a quick swig of the coffee at the bottom of your mug, you stood from the break room table and replied, "Be right there!"
~~~~~~~
Javier Gutierrez did not get nervous. His business demanded that he remain forever stoic, calculating before emotive, strategic before impulsive. Nevertheless, as his Tom Ford's crossed the threshold into the brightly colored tourist hotel, a bead of sweat trickled down the back of his neck and tickled his golden skin. His dark eyes searched the bustling hotel for the face he knew so well, the one he had taken apart and put back together over and over again in his mind for years since he had last seen it. But, to his dismay, you were nowhere to be found.
Letting out a deep sigh, he moved through the lobby and to the front desk. "Javier Gutierrez." He said with a tight lipped smile.
"You're checking in?" The frizzy-haired woman behind the counter asked, flashing him a doe-eyed smile.
He nodded and shook his golden watch in agitation. He looked quickly behind him, a motion he most often used to keep himself from danger, but now instead, to keep himself from missing the sight of you.
The receptionist’s cheeks rouged and she turned her face from him, bashfulness overwhelming her small form. She bent down to the desk and scribbled something on a piece of paper before tearing it away from the whole and tucking it in her hand.
Javi leaned against the desk and looked over her as she searched for his name in the computer. He pulled his lips into his mouth before asking for you by name.
"Oh, yeah." The receptionist answered, turning from him to retrieve his room key from it's spot in the lock box fastened to the wall. "She's the manager here. I just saw her a second ago..." The young woman trailed off, looking past the counter and into the rancorous lobby for you. "I'm not sure where she is," The receptionist said, turning back to him. "But, if you're looking for some company while you're here, here's my number." She slipped his room key and a scrap of paper into Javi's large hand.
The kingpin took the key and the paper from her and quirked the side of his lips upwards. "I appreciate it." He looked into her ocean-colored eyes and nodded, leaving her to sulk for the rest of her day behind the front desk.
Javi maneuvered his way through the busy lobby, clutching the strap of his bag and hopping up the brightly tiled stairway to the rooms and hopefully, to an elevator. His shoes struggled to gain traction on the unevenly sanded floor, its glossy finish not helping in the slightest.
A crowd of women passed him, each set of eyes flicking to his, roaming over the scandalous bare chest his shirt left exposed, and the way the expensive fabric tightened around the bulge of his biceps. Lingering on the wave of his chestnut-colored hair and the blonde streaks hidden between the folds of brown.
Javi nodded as he passed them and smiled to himself, his eyes still searching for an elevator or at least a sign to point him towards the penthouse.
~~~~~~~~
Your tongue stuck out from the side of your mouth and you grunted as you pulled the wrench as hard as you could to one side. With a heavy sigh, you threw your head back in frustration and moved both of your hands to your hips, cursing under your breath.
"Stupid fucking light fixture."  You whispered to yourself.
Most tourists didn't want to shell out the money to stay in a penthouse for a week-long vacation to Greece, and for a moment you considered leaving the upsetting broken fixture and your frustration behind, but a family was flying in to have a big wedding, and you reasoned that they would want to let the bride stay in the penthouse for at least one night, surely.
You clicked your tongue and huffed in frustration before bracing yourself on the rickety ladder and reaching out try and loosen it once more.
"Hello?" A voice said from behind you.
You stopped mid-motion and furrowed your eyebrows. Your lips parted and the demanding light fixture no longer held your focus.
The sound of the voice was just as you remembered it to be. Deep and luxurious with a twinge of gravel. Like a velvet blanket wrapped around pebbles from the shoreline near the hotel. Your heart leapt with possibility.
'Could he?'  You thought to yourself, but then stopped. It had been five years, surely it's wouldn't be him. Surely. 'Could he have come back for me?'  The thought finished itself all the same and you had to stop your hands from shaking as you turned on the ladder to face the man in the doorway.
The shape of his face hit you like a punch to the gut. His stubble and the mustache he kept so perfectly trimmed, the curve of his nose and the shocking intensity of his eyes. His hair was longer now, wavy and curly at the base of his neck.
Just looking at him pulled a whimper from your throat.
He had grown broader and stronger with age, but it was still Javier Gutierrez who stood before you.
The two of you grew still there, falling deeper and deeper into the other, completely undisturbed by the need to return his hello, to climb down from your ladder, or for him to set his bag on the ground. Not with the two so close to becoming one again. Like the crash of the waves on the shore, you felt the memory of him come rushing back into you, overwhelming your beating chest and thundering across your whirring mind. You felt his arms, secure and so long awaited, you remembered the wind whipping across your skin and Javi's mouth on your shoulder. The feeling of his heavy hand as it pushed into yours, the sand around the two palms shifting to accommodate the passion surging through the granules. The taste of his mouth revived itself in yours, subtle like honey, but raw and alive like the berries he was so fond of.
With a sudden crash, the troublesome light fixture fell to the floor below your ladder, cracking and splintering into hundreds of pieces.
You both jumped at the sound, the gaze of the other having fully enraptured each of you. You swallowed, your throat suddenly dry, and began to step down the ladder.
Javi was quick to move towards you, dropping his Louis Vuitton bag to the floor on his way. "Careful." He said, extending his hand as he stepped carefully in between the shards of wood and broken bulbs.
Your heartbeat thumped behind your eyes as you descended the ladder and you worked to squelch the shudder in your chest when you allowed your hand to touch his once more, the tanned palm warm and wide and strong. The power and passion raging through the veins beneath yours snapped and beckoned to you, as if his very skin was aching for your touch.
You let out a soft hum at the contact and Javi's eyelashes fluttered slightly. He allowed his face to twinge upwards slightly; a smile playing bashful. He kicked the broken fixture's pieces out of your way, keeping your hand tight in his own as you stepped off the ladder and walked to ground that was unperturbed by the scattered chunks of wood. His golden and jeweled rings pained your hand, but the pain in your palm meant that it was in fact, Javier's hand that you were holding. And Javier's hand was worth a bit of pain.
Standing now with him in front of you, the years past suddenly were brought to the present.
He kept your hand in his as it dropped to his side. "You work here now?" He asked, his voice slick with emotion and his gaze devastating.
You dropped your eyes from his dark ones and smirked, "No, I just fix every light fixture I can find."
The kingpin chuckled, a inviting and seductive sound, one that filled his entire chest and compelled the listener to ascend upwards with him.
"I wanted to call you," You began, your voice warbling under his presence. "but I thought it was a long shot that you'd even reply." You took in a deep breath as you ended, "But I knew something would bring you back to me, a siren's song maybe."
"A siren's song?" Javi smiled, his cheeks filling. He dropped your hand from his and moved a palm to your cheek, the golden rings still warm from the touch of you.
You gasped softly as his thumb drug down your lips and chin.
He shook his head, a caramel-colored curl falling to frame his ravishing features. "No. No one else brought me back here but you. You're someone worth coming back for."
Heat began to pool in your stomach and you licked your lips as his hand moved down towards your neck, intertwining slowly with the golden necklaces glittering there.
"Javi..." You whispered, your dream suddenly replaying in your mind.
He tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows, taking in a deep breath as he looked over you. His mind could not process your return to him, how could he have been so lucky? The most precious thing he had ever found, he had somehow loved and lost and now, in some wondrous twist of fate, he had been given a second chance. "Can I kiss you?" He whispered, his eyes shackling yours in an iron grip.
You swallowed and felt your heart leap at his request. You nodded meekly and moaned just before his lips found yours, the pressure and heat of them instantly knocking your knees out from under you and the wind out of your chest. You placed your palms on his chest, your thumbs running softly back and forth over his exposed skin.
His hands moved up from your neck to cradle your jaw. His mustache tickled your sensitive skin and the taste of him was quick to overwhelm your senses- sweet, warm, and wet.
You let one of your hands wander up from his chest to clutch the curls at the base of his neck, the feeling of his hair in between your fingers starting up a kaleidoscope of memories in your mind.
Javi moved one hand to your hip and he pulled you to meet his body. He hummed into your kiss and the vibration sent a tingle down you and the feeling bubbled and popped in your abdomen. With his broad frame, he stepped towards you, pushing the pair of you back towards the wall behind you. The kingpin reached out and slammed the penthouse door closed as the pair of you passed by it, his hands quickly moving back to cup your face.
“Of course you’re staying in the penthouse.” You sneared in between gasping  kisses.
“I was,” He replied, then moved his lips from yours to suck a bruise onto your neck. “Until the manager dropped a light fixture in my room.”
You let out a laugh filled with lust and wrapped your arms around the broad expanse of his shoulders.
“Guess I’ll have to find somewhere else to stay now.” The man teased, his dark eyes flicking up to look into yours.
“There’s room in my bed if you want it.” You answered, your back arching against the wall and your eyes fluttering closed.
Javi hummed on your skin and nipped at your chin. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
