forgive me if you've been asked this before or if its annoying, but how did you learn to use colored pencils like that? your art is so special to me.
ty :) I took an art class for a few years where our teacher had us buy prismacolor pencils as one of the art supplies and had us use them kinda like paints, pressing down hard right away and blending the colors together. its not how youre supposed to use them she was just trying to teach us to use color and ig this was more to the point. I picked them up again years after i stopped going to that class just bc they were there and i wanted to play around w them a bit and ended up actually enjoying it when doing it on my own terms lol
#it was a weird class#it was just this russian lady doing private lessons in her house that my mom learned about somehow#I did NOT like those classes all we did was still life and they were hours long which is esp rough when im in high school and busy#and she wanted us to stand while working the whole time bc tradition i guess?#she did allow me to work sitting but thought i was lazy for it. idk dude i dont want to exhaust myself fast for no reason#standing is a lot more tiring than walking#i def did still benefit from those classes just from learning to accurately draw from life#did not like the teacher tho#on one hand shed paid for the art supplies for kids whos families were too poor to (and these are nice expensive supplies)#which is very nice#but on the other she was very homophobic and open about it#like when they legalized gay marriage she went on a rant about how horrible it is that they can adopt kids now#and also kind of racist#she was telling me how she got blocked from a facebook group bc she made a post asking if she could speak to a white person#and she didnt realize she was posting that publicly she thought it was a private message to the group owner#im honestly still not sure i heard/understood her correctly bc it was so bizzare and the only time i ever remember her being racist#she talked abt it like she genuienly was unaware it was racist#she described it as a misunderstanding bc she accidentally posted it publicly instead of privately#like it wouldnt have been racist to ask that at all#also one time she talked about how she saw demons in her home once#also she doesnt vaccinate her kids bc of microchips#she was like a walking russian stereotype lol#anyway heres some ink the artist lore

idk what's weirder for iruka: konohamaru becoming a jounin sensei or shino becoming an academy teacher and both of them are his colleagues now instead of former students. one is a reformed prankster carbon copy of naruto and one spoke maybe four words to him during the entire time he knew the kid. imagine running into them in the staff room. i would need to leave immediately.
they also refuse to call him without honorifics or if this is a modern AU - mr umino/sir/sensei. iruka tries so hard to make them comfortable and feeling like they're his colleagues, to no avail. they got as far as 'iruka-sensei' and then promptly faltered.
all the little students look up to iruka as a superhero. their teacher's teacher. none of that silliness where they don't respect him - his disappointed face is lethal

“Loss of limb, (just one if it helps)”
13 years later and I still can’t believe Dreamworks had the balls to just amputate a 15-year old kid and handled it in like the best way possible.
DreamWorks has always had such mature themes now that I think about it, and they introduced them and handled them in a way that seems so natural to children.
Hiccup’s amputation is such a good example.
DreamWorks didn’t gloss over it either, and even they continued, in every show and every movie from then on, to show what it’s like living with a disability like that. There were some things Hiccup had a harder time doing than before, but in no way did it get in the way of his goals and dreams.
I didn’t understand how important that was when I was a child, watching the movie for the first time, but I understand it now.
DreamWorks has guts, and I’m so happy that they do

My Highschool Weed Story
I grew up in a household that grew a lot of pot. For reference, here is my cousin standing next to a marijuana plant my dad grew a few summers ago:
Tumblr media
That thing was fucking awful to harvest. Anyways, so growing up as a teenager I always smelt like weed, but the nice emo and goth kids I hung out with didn't care because they were weed-starved and would sniff my clothes like a pack of starved beasts. So this one time I go to school and that day I apparently absolutely REAKED of pot. So I go up to my emo friend and I'm like "🥺 Marlana, do you have any perfume I could use...?" And she was like, "Um, yeah actually here!!"
Then Marlana handed me a can of Axe Body spray, which did nothing but amplify both smells somehow. So I was sweating hard in math in a class full of like 40+ students hoping to god no one says anything because I was so paranoid that I would get in trouble and then my parents would get in trouble because we certainly were going over the legal limit of plants. I was sitting there trying to convince myself that I just needed to make it through the day and eventually the weed smell would air out of my clothes. However,
Suddenly, from the back, this kid jets up and shouts "IT SMELLS LIKE WEED IN HERE‼️".
My life flashed before my eyes. I was already making up excuses to take the fall for my parents like how I joined some random group of kids at the back of the school to smoke a joint or some shit. Btw I didn't smell a little like weed, either. I was wearing the jacket that was in the same room they were drying the weed branches out in. I smelt even worse than a dispensary. My parents were super hippies that didn't buy regular fucking deodorant, either, they MADE me WEED DEODORANT that only smelt a little like weed but it was "all natural" and were great for some fucking gland in your armpit or some shit. Idk they were hippies and my dad was an unmedicated bipolar. He convinced us all he cured cancer and asthma once.
I shit you not, this kid rounds up his little posse of friends and they start SNIFF checking every single student and INTERROGATING THEM. My absolute worst fear made real. Literally my most paranoid nightmare giving birth to reality.
I would like to pause to show everyone what I looked like back then when this happened. Here is my school ID from around that time:
Tumblr media
This but I wore nerdy black rimmed square glasses and a frog hoodie. This is important information for later.
This kid and his group go down every fucking isle smelling every kid and accusing them like "John, do you smoke pot??" "Jessica do YOU smoke pot???". Eye contact. Calling them by name. Everything. Now I don't only have to lie to the teacher and principal, now I have to lie to my classmates and my god I was never a good liar back in highschool.
The kids get to the girl in the seat next to me and ask her if she smokes pot, which she proceeds to just tell them to fuck off, which was inconceivable to me as an option.
They make eye contact with me.
They see this sweaty little big glasses cringefail artist white girl shaking like a Chihuahua at her desk and I for sure think I'm about to get laid into hard with questions. But, no. They take one look at me and WALK PAST ME‼️‼️ TO THE STUDENT SITTING NEXT TO ME AND CONTINUE THEIR SEARCH.
That point forward it was absolutely ridiculous what I could get away with. Once I sat on the opposite side of the class as literally everyone else by the open window and a kid said it smelt like weed and they all looked up AT ME and then one of the kids said "it must be coming from outside". LIKE BITCH. On my last day in French class I leaned over to one of my class-friends and I told her that I was the one who smelt like weed and she could hardly believe it even though I sat next to her every fucking day.
And that's how I got away with smelling like weed for all of highschool. By looking like a complete fucking loser.

yet another writing ask: 23 and 32 if you would like to <3
Thank you 🙇🙇
23. Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?
GOD. Dialogue is so hard. I get soooo stressed in rpf bc I often want or am including multi-lingual players who do not speak like a generic Californian, and I get real in my head about like...capturing that authentically and sensitively. Like description is easier to deploy meaningfully and if I fuck it up, I find that way more forgivable in myself than like writing a multilingual player and accidentally leaning into stereotypes about speech patterns or ways of expression that aren't True To Nature. and like to be clear this is specifically about non-Canadian/American players, like if I fuck up some American NCAA white jock who gives a shit but if I leaned to stereotypes about like how idk Russians speak, I would just die. and I have done this!!! I look back at some of my old sidgeno works and I'm like this is unforgiveable lol.
I'm poking at a concept with Radim Šimek, who is from Czechia, and I'm stressing sooo bad about his speech patterns and how he expresses himself in interviews vs teammates, particularly after I noticed how obvious it is that he learned in English in the Bay Area, which is not like...a particularly unique version of English, but I've noticed that sometimes the way Bay Area ppl inflect words is absolutely deranged. and like how does that affect how you express yourself yk, and like I'm basing all of this off getting lectured for being lazy in five years of French classes in high school and college, which is not even remotely the same thing
Also. At least once per fic, I have to go through a delete an instance of "hella". That man from Ontario would not fucking say "hella".
32. Do you have a word/expression that you always use in your writing?
Well I absolutely overuse "like" in speech which is what happens when you grow up in California and write primarily in a fandom of white jocks. Also tend to use "sounding strangled" with regularity, but I have never been able to figure out how to execute that specific emotion any other way (I have not tried very hard)
Thank you!!!

The thing about a tgaa phantom of the opera au is that...
Barok should be Christine. Barok being Christine means the phantom can be rumored to be the restless spirit of his late brother who use to own the opera house. That's why nobody is allowed to have those box seats during a performance (that klints favorite seat). And nobody other than barok is allowed to be the lead (to passify an angry spirit that can only hear his brother u_u).
And thats how u get Kazuma being "murdered" by the phantom when he's slated to be the new lead in an up coming show. And thats how you get Ryu traveling to Paris London to look into this mysterious ghost that killed his best friend and still haunting this singer 🤔

Scrimbly Jacqueline 6/52 as per this poll's (current) results:
Tumblr media
This dress gives MAJOR frolic vibes and DOES end with Jacqueline frolicking through the Western province's meadows and, y'know, maybe accidentally lightly frosting up the blooms which leads to. Well. This:
Tumblr media
Scrimbly Aunt Spring!!! I'm very proud of her, lol. She's so ANGY I'm CACKLING, VERY proud of that expression >:)
EDIT: APPARENTLY I CLICKED POST BEFORE YEETING MYSELF INTO THE SHOWER INSTEAD OF SAVE DRAFT ?? WHOOPS. ETA LINKS AND THE FUCKING. PHOTO I SAID I ADDED THEN DIDN'T. GAH. PLZ REBLOG THIS VERSION 💀💀💀
The filter I chose for purposes of scanning and sharing does NOT do the colours justice, the greens ARE different shades and the yellow on her hands is more green too lmao. I am working with LIMITED COLOURS. I've had to bring pencil crayons into the mix 😂😂😂😂. That's why the scrimbly jacquie isn't bright/crisp!! camscan refused to pick up the pencil crayons :(
But I've learnt that the oven light is PRETTY ALRIGHT.
I had some other colour options for Jacqueline's dress:
Tumblr media
I went with the usual blue, of course, but these guys were TEMPTING. Some ACTUALLY scrimbly Jacquies for y'all since uh, my scrimbles are more like proper doodles???? Not changing THAT tag tho lol.
SO YEAH. HAD A DREAM AGES AGO THAT INVOLVED JACQUELINE AND BLAISE VISITING A SCHOOL AND ENTERTAINING KIDS WITH CS STORIES?? My actual dream, to have CS be an actual book with so much RANGE actors go to schools dressed as the characters and bring joy to children (it's me I'm actors I WOULD get my own Jacqueline costume and spread the joy 💃🏻😎💕❄️)
Here's the uh, scanned and filtered version for purposes of colour lol. Which is apparently a thing I will be doing with the scrimbles now!!
Tumblr media
Learning to use the markers has been FUN.
ANYWAY!! ENJOY MY TERRIBLE ATTEMPT AT THE DRESS!! 💕

Aight, what you see above is an article that's getting passed around by proshippers. I'm making my own post separate from theirs to discuss the contents of this article and why I believe everyone *should* read it, while also I don't believe the article is correct.
The article was written by a Japanese artist who had been harassed for "proshipping" online, even though they themself did not partake in anything more than aging up 15-year-old characters to 19. As far as they claim, that was it (though the artwork itself is not provided).
Someone had DMed them, asking if they were a proshipper, or a "problematic shipper", to which they shrugged and went "I guess so?" and then that person-referred to as A- started spreading it to all their friends that A was a proshipper and to avoid them, leading to soft blocks, harassment, ect.
Something I'd like to point out that is correct about this article is the meaning of "proshipper." It doesn't mean "problematic ships." Instead, "pro" is the prefix, not an abbreviation. The meaning is in reference to someone who is unbothered by any specific type of ship, and/or supports the creation of problematic ships. This difference is, I feel, important, not because the definition is changed, but because how people view that definition changes substantially.
Keep that in mind.
Something else of note here is the cultural difference. The artist is from Japan, and according to them, Japan allows ships of any kind. Japan, as a country, is proship, which creates vast and varied artistic expressions. Any and everything is allowed.
And, according to worldpopulationreview.com, the age of consent in Japan is 13 (though articles are saying they're rethinking this law).
Again, I recommend reading the article for yourself to fully understand the artist's point of view, but I'd like to break down where the author was wrong about many things. A lot of them stem from cultural differences and are normalized, so you can't really blame them, but it's good to keep in mind when interacting with proshippers from all over the world.
Something they're right about is harassment. I don't think people should be being harassed for stuff like this. Blocked? Yes.
The first thing they got wrong was the general assumption that fiction doesn't affect reality, or that antis cannot tell the difference between fiction and reality. This (at least for a lot of us) isn't true. Using myself as an example, it's clear to me that fiction and reality are two different worlds.
However, to say that fiction doesn't affect reality is false. Both worlds influence each other. If an adult starts dating a 13-year-old in fiction, younger audience members who watch that will see that relationship play out. Depending on how it's portrayed, this can either help or harm that audience member. If this relationship is deemed bad in that piece of media, then the younger members of that audience will remember that, vs if they say it's okay, THAT'S where you've crossed into proship territory that is actively harmful towards your audience.
I am a firm believer that anything should be allowed in fiction, as long as the author is respectful, responsible, and considers the ramifications of their work towards a real audience. So like, having a relationship between a 19-year-old and a 13-year-old should be allowed to be portrayed, as long as it isn't positive. By not allowing these stories to be told at all, that's leaning into some book burning shit.
What the author did, aging up 15-year-olds to 19, is not inherently bad, especially since they say it wasn't sexual in nature (but again, the art itself is never presented).
The second thing they get wrong is calling us a minority. I don't believe there were any studies done on this, but I don't think the majority of Americans go around talking about shipping children with adults? Again, it's a cultural difference that was influenced on this specific artist BY other proshippers. It's a biased view from both sides. I do not believe any studies have officially been done on this subject, so you cannot call us a minority. But, we can't call you a minority, either. I'm not sure how many there are on either side.
But also, I don't think that really matters. Continuing my topic from before with fiction affecting reality, if someone in that audience can get hurt because of your story, then it doesn't matter if the majority don't. It's still harmful and can affect reality- THIS reality- in negative ways. By drawing proship art and saying it doesn't matter because it's fiction, you're helping to normalize this art for ACTUAL predators. It doesn't matter how many proshippers there are, this is STILL harmful.
Something else I noticed, but I cannot point specifically to this article as evidence for, but it may be influencing the author, is the idea of in-fandom vs outside-fandom. The author mentions this a couple times, though usually in reference to the cultural differences between Japan and America.
The author is outside the US fandom, and so doesn't fully understand its inner workings or why so many of us are anti-proship "purest"s. I don't know how else to explain this besides going up to your grandparents and asking them if they think proshipping is okay.
Upon hearing the actual definition- being unbothered or perpetuating any type of relationship between two or more characters in fiction- they might go "yeah I agree with that," because that does sound nice on paper. Freedom of expression.
But what antis have come to realize is that fiction DOES affect reality, and if you were to ask your grandparents if they thing a child should be in a relationship with an adult, they'd probably go "no."
This is purely because they don't understand the culture of being online, and the several, several subcultures that came to be. We know what proshippers are and what they represent, but someone outside fandom space wouldn't.
And now, to any proshippers reading this: first of all, thank you for hearing me out, lol. But then, I ask you to please re-evaluate why you're a proshipper. Is it for the freedom of expression idea, do you just not give a shit, or do you genuinely enjoy seeing kids and adults together? Maybe something else? I'm not going to tell you how to feel about that- you can come to your own conclusion- but I do ask that you re-examine that idea.
If the author is SOMEHOW reading this, first of all, thank you too. My goal here was not to harass you in any way, but to point out the core of why this article doesn't really work. I'm sure in Japan things are vastly different, and that's not your fault, OP. And although I don't stand by what A did to you, I do ask that you think again. Stuff like this does affect reality, even in small ways (but when it comes to p*dos, it can be FAR more harmful than good).
Proshippers help normalize unhealthy behaviors that can seriously hurt children for the rest of their lives. Do proships exist in reality? ...Yes. Not between fictional characters, but those characters can influence people in real life to go "oh yeah the incest ship was okay in this anime, which means it's fine if I'm like that, too." It's not fine. It's not okay.
Again, I'm not here to harass you, and ultimately it's up to you whether you choose to listen. I'm sorry for the harassment at all, that should not have occurred.
Back to my general audience, though, yeah. Again, read the article for yourself (which I do still highly recommend). It gives a good glimpse into the minds and ideas of some proshippers out there. I don't think OP is a bad person, just misinformed. And I believe the same of a lot of proshippers out there. We can't change their minds, but we can make sure misinfo like what is in the article is debunked, and spread correct information regarding the subject.

youtube
Again, read the article, do some thinking (on BOTH sides), and have a good one, guys.

Who do you think is in the right in across the spiderverse? Miles or Miguel.
Alternatively as a question,
Who is your favorite spidersona from the flim?
Hmm...well, first of all, while I am most certainly a simp for ATSV version of Miguel, I am pretty disappointed that he's almost nothing like his comic book counterpart which ended up making his character a lot more aggressive and hostile (this being a dude who can't even have an argument with a woman without sitting down to make himself less threatening because he's afraid of seeming abusive like his dad)
BUT...I do kinda agree with 'the sacrifice of one for the safety of billions'. Of course, obviously, the child is going to try to save his dad and any way of stopping someone's death should be tried, but ultimately, its for the sake of an entire universe. Miles could potentially lose his dad or he could lose everyone. And from what they've seen from Miguel collapsing a dimension and Pavitr's creating a massive block hole, it's a pretty substantial theory. I don't blame Miles, but I gotta agree with Miguel. It's less of who's 'right' and who can guarantee the lesser of two evils.
On a lighter note, absolutely love this spidermom and her kid who are holding hands in every shot and even during the chase throughout headquarters. That's so fucking cute.
