I can't decide what Barotrauma monster I think is my fav as a concept, the one that just watches you and drives you insane, or the one that piolets wrecked subs, or the big worm. what do you think sounds cooler just by listening?

Just off vibes? Piloting wrecked ships...I'm just imagining the slow burn horror of seeing what you think might be rescue coming your way, or perhaps you're responding to what appears to be a distress call. But the closer you get, the more you realize something isn't right -- they're not responding to radio transmissions outside of garbled static, their hull is showing more and more damage, their name is registered as missing/sunk in your log history.

It's too late, though. You're well within its grasp now. And it knows there's something inside of this new little sub.

For me it's the thought of being in a submarine, knowing Somethings out there and if it even tries you could easily be sent to the sea floor. Nowhere to run, its all ocean. And you're in a steel bubble.

God yeah that's so good. Just the idea that something can always get in, but you can never get out, trapped in a confined space that has just of good a chance of killing you as it does protecting you from whatever is outside.

And just what is outside, exactly? Something big, something strong, something dangerous judging by the damage it's causing. But it's too dark to see anything but shapes in the shadows, only little glimpses when it passes by a floodlight or blips on the radar. Is it curious? Is it hungry? Is it ignorant of the chaos its causing with its destruction, or is it fully aware and simply doesn't care? Does it want something that it knows is inside this metal chamber? Does it want someone?

What will kill you first - an imploding vessel, an unknown sea creature, or drowning? Place your bets, because there's not a chance in hell you're making it back to the surface in one piece. Then again, who said you couldn't be perfectly trapped in some sort of underwater air bubble...no chance of rescue...stalked by a looming figure just waiting to bait you into the water...?

Hello! I think you mentioned that Elysie already has children outside of her pregnancy, or maybe I'm confusing this with another blogger. Anyway, would any of Elysie's children learn about Milo? If they are introduced, what is the growing relationship like between them and Milo, since technically he can be considered their "cousin"? If not, what would the scenario be if any of the kiddos stumbled upon Milo years later during a visit at Ben's house?

She has 3 kids, excluding her current pregnancy! But no, none of the kids know about Milo, or borrowers in general...in fact, neither does her husband or any of her coworkers, despite the fact she secretly treats sick/injured borrowers in her clinic after hours. It's part of the reason why she's so trusted in the borrower community -- she takes their secrecy very seriously. The only reason she revealed her knowledge to Ben is because he approached her about if first.

Her kids are sweet, but children can still unintentionally be rough with smaller things no matter how well they've been taught to handle animals by their vet mom. And kids also like to spill the beans. The only way they'd ever meet Milo (or a borrower in general) would be by complete accident or after they're adults and Elysie felt they could be trusted enough to take over the practice of being a borrower doctor (provided they A) had an interest in becoming a vet tech like her and B) she had permission from borrowers to bring her kid(s) into the mix).

If the kids happened to come across Milo by random chance once they had grown into tweens/teens, Ben would have a fucking heart attack. Mostly because his nieces/nephews never pop in for a surprise visit. Also he's immediately calling Elysie for her to come over for an emergency family meeting because it needs to be stressed that none of this can get out to the public. Meanwhile, Milo is super stoked to have a kid around his own age to talk to! I think the newly introduced cousins would have too much fun getting to know each other and hanging out to really care about their respective parents losing their mind lmao

After Elysie frees Milo and tells Ben how to properly care for a borrower, what's the dynamic like between the two? How long does it take for Milo to trust Ben?

It's definitely not an overnight process, it's weeks and months of gradually building trust through actions before Milo can even be comfortable enough in Ben's presence for an extended period of time. And it's not just Milo who has to learn to trust Ben; Ben also needs to be shown that he can trust Milo not to run off and get hurt or be too scared to ask for help. It's hard for him not to be smothering and overbearing when he sees Milo scaling up furniture and squeezing into tight spaces. He's worried this kid is going to die a horrible death if he doesn't check in every 5 minutes...

Luckily, Milo's already been introduced to kid's TV shows and Bluey by this point, and it really does help Milo learn as a six year old how to articulate his feelings better to Ben and why sometimes he does need to listen to an adult even if he doesn't want to. Once Milo has opened up enough to talk to Ben (even if he still hides away while he talks because he's scared of saying something wrong), everything gets a lot easier between them. Rules and boundaries can be put in place to help them both feel more at ease.

After that, Milo becomes such a little cuddlebug and always wants to know what Ben is doing and where he's going and when Miss Elysie is gonna come visit again (: Ben is still figuring out fatherhood by the seat of his pants but at least his house is finally babyproofed (despite his sister being with her 4th child at this point and he had never bothered prior lmao)

GtWAC is for gt writer appreciation (ie gt Writer Appreciation Challenge)

There was some discourse about artists getting way more attention even on quick rough sketches than writers get as a whole, so someone made a challenge for Feb that focuses on enaging with g/t writers (there's a prompt list under the tag GtWAC)
