lol sorry ha ha! I like whispering in the tags a lot lmao. And sure! I don't think I ever really gave headcanons on these two disasters but I have a ton so buckle up, and thanks for the ask. ^^

Betty

She was born to Russian Jewish first-gen immigrants somewhere in New England. They were medical doctors by trade, running a practice together and everything. She is an only child. Her parents worked a lot so she was often alone at home when she got old enough.

Due to relative solitude at home, Betty became an avid reader and allowed it to occupy her time when she was lonely. She has a particular penchant for mystery novels that persisted into adulthood. Her general love of the unknown led her into being interested in real world mysteries.

Her birthday is April 11, 1966 - making her an elder Gen X and an Aries.

Has always been very smart, especially in regards to mathematics and has a minor in it. It's definitely her forte, if not made obvious by Temple of Mars.

She is bipolar II and has learned to manage it well over years, as long as no major stressors enter her life she is pretty good to go [crying cat giving thumbs up image]

Loves plants and mushrooms! She's especially fond of succulents. Very adept at fungi identification and foraging properly.

When she's not deep into her work, she likes taking nature hikes either on foot or on her bike. She's always loved the outdoors.

Betty loves all genres of music, but is particularly partial to Depeche Mode and Journey.

She also loves all animals, but really enjoys alligators and crocodilians. The first time she went down South and saw an American Alligator just casually hanging out near a river, she nearly burst into tears.

Simon

His birthday is August 25th, 1965. He is a Virgo because of course he is. Just misses Boomer status, as Gen X began in '65 lmao.

His father was a first-generation Russian/Yakut immigrant, while his mother was a second generation Filipina American. They were borderline hippies that met at a music festival, but break the (objectively flawed) stereotype by being very well educated with successful careers in teaching.

Simon had a younger sister and developed Older Sibling Syndrome that defines part of his personality to this day.

Stemming from his parents, Simon has always had a thirst for adventure. In addition to being exposed to camping at young age due to his family taking him to festivals in his youth, he also has always had a general inclination to explore the unknown.

Loves 60s-70s rock and roll a la Mountain and Jimi Hendrix, but just prefers the genre in general. This manifests later a bit in Ice King's love for Marceline's music, which is of course rock-centric.

He is autistic; his first special interest was cryptids, something that never really left him. He eventually developed one for playing the drums (also seen in IK later) and Cheers obv. His main interest is by far ancient artifacts. He was the kid that checked out books on Ancient Egypt every week.

Got his PHD in Archaeology by 27 due to being wicked smart and starting intro college classes all the way back in his Junior/Senior years of high school.

Unironically tuned into Art Bell's radio show because of his cryptid and conspiracy fascination. He never actually bought into any of it (mostly), but it was fun for him!

Is a cat person full stop. He will sometimes take walks in his neighborhood and be greeted by all the outside cats that he has made a point to get to know!

Simon and Betty

Met at a University-held science and sci-fi convention right before Betty was to leave for Australia. Simon held a small panel on the Enchiridion, talking about its history and his search for it. Betty fell fast and hard. They both did. After the panel they talked for hours about it.

Their shared love for mysteries and adventure made them a perfect match. They shared a ton in common and became inseparable almost instantly.

Were the couple that rarely ever fought, but they also possessed a level of obvious codependency. Betty was the first person to ever make Simon feel so seen and he loved her wit and eccentricity, and Simon proved so smart and sweet and genuinely interesting that their pull was magnetic.

Storm #1 Review

*spoilers!*

The issue opens with Storm and the X-Men fighting the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

As Mystique and co are captured…we find out the whole thing was a stunt for some unknown customer and not about getting mutant files… (foreshadowing!!)

As Storm assessed how the team did, Ororo and Kitty get in a verbal spat… (this takes place before Piotr broke up with Kitty…but around Kitty’s freak out about Storm getting a Mohawk..but before “Love Story” with Forge…if any of that makes sense lol)

After the battle, the X-Men do what the X-men do best- chill at the beach.

While swimming (cheers for the iconic thought bubbles returning!!), Storm nearly drowns and questions her old status of “Goddess”.

Meanwhile some human named Jimmy (it always Jimmy’s…) goes on some anti-mutant rant at Kurt….while Kurt just ignores the whole thing to more or less put the moves on his girlfriend (The real reason people hate Kurt is because he will steal your girlfriend…)

Kitty and Rogue go off together after Kitty blows up at Storm for having a motorcycle (Kitty got mad at the weirdest shit back then honestly)…

Rogue seems hesitant to “corrupt” Kitty, knowing she’s still on thin ice with the team despite saving Logan in Japan awhile ago… (I weirdly love early heel turn Rogue, so this is a HUGE treat for me!)

Storm runs into a HOTTIE while out on her bike who’s apparently randomly and conveniently a climate change tech bro…(you GET IT Storm 😎 !)

Storm gets back to the mansion about the same time Kitty and Rogue do…

And….Kitty…walks in with cornrows and a tat (😬 pulling a “Vanilla Ice” there Kitty?? 😂🤣🤣)

Xavier lectures Kitty while Ororo goes out to see her tech bro again (Man Storm must like techies…also the guy must be like a 10 in bed if she’s going back to see him so SOON! 😂🤣🤣) and accidentally causes a hail storm (Storm blames dark thoughts…I blame being horny 😂🤣🤣🤣) and some rando appears that looks like Gollum and blames Storm for causing it (damn that’s just being PETTY) and fights her…

Storm questions if she is at fault while she drives him away from the civilians…

As Storm drags said rando in a tornado, there’s a backlash…causing her to fall from the sky!

Review:

The art is depressing horrid…like “New Mutants vol. 2” levels of horrid…(sorry not sorry)

How Kotian got on both CLAREMONT and NOCENTI books…I will never know!

It’s reminiscent of the old X-books…but in a good way! Seeing Colossus use Russian and his corny comment on it meaning “thug”…or many of the admittedly corny moments like Kitty saying she’s gonna make Colossus a “mixtape” or Storm talking about the “weather at her fingertips”…It just feels like the old X-Men. It just feels FUN again.

Rogue stands out the most- I didn’t realize how much I missed Southern stereotype skunkhead until reading this compared to “Rogue & Gambit”…

All the characters feel like “themselves”, which honestly makes this book a huge treat, even if the story is pretty “meh””.

In an era where characters feel interchangeable- it’s nice to see them be DEFINABLE and FLAWED again!

My only critique is- I would actually like Claremont and Nocenti to branch out a bit…

As fun as it is seeing them write “Gambit” or write “Storm” again…It also a choice that feels a bit safe.

I would like to see Claremont or Nocenti try taking a crack at some of the newer characters instead of just returning to previous eras, partially to see what they’d do and because I do think they need more of a challenge!

Still- this is a fun read, especially if you miss the old Claremont X-Men!

Predictions:

I mean OBVIOUSLY the rando is the tech bro, whose somehow messing with or stealing Storm’s powers. And the girl flirting with Kurt is in on it….

Rogue will say “hog” so many times that it will become a drinking game…

Kitty will start listening to rap music and Colossus’s mixtape will be Kitty’s new rap album 😐😂.

follow up, here's a write up of sorts

aysun is paired with bald bull, this dude

i got the inspo to make her from my reading on turkish culture. in turkey it is expected for people to get married and have children, and most do. and i believe turkish people tend to get married more in their early to mid 20s. and bald bull is 36 so he's definitely married and with kids.

to go along with bald bull's bull theming, aysun has a cow theming. she's a soft, gentle type in contrast to him. his temper is implied to be an act, but we still do seem him genuinely angry in his contender intro cutscene, thanks to the paparazzi.

aysun is always good at calming him down.

she also has an interest in art, like carpet weaving. she also made him a head covering so they can go outside without being swarmed by the paparazzi. and she's a great cook.

i also do imagine aysun and bald bull with kids named ejder and nahir, but i don't have much on them.

i imagine aysun and bald bull met by accident, like she knocked into him, he apologized and took her somewhere to make up for it, leading to their friendship and eventual romance. i always picture them with a sweet, wholesome relationship, like bald bull is very gentle and soft with her. they also like to go to places likes museums, bazaars, restaurants and historical sites. and she appreciates the muscles lol, and they're definitely a height difference ship.

next is svetlana, and is paired with soda popinski, this guy

the inspiration to make her came from a similar one to aysun. like in turkey, from my readings on russia there's also an expectation to get married and have children with a lot of importance placed on love. and again like in turkey, russians tend to get married more in their early to mid 20s, and soda is 35. so it makes sense for him to be married.

svetlana has a russian tea theming, to match soda's soda theming. in general i also imagine food has always been a way for them to bond, like they enjoy making food together and svetlana is a chef. soda loves to brag about her. she makes sure he has a balanced diet besides his soda drinking.

i also imagine soda and svetlana with kids that all have a juice theming, named valentina, roza, ulyana and aleksei. but like with the aysun/bald bull kids, don't have much on them.

and for how soda and svetlana met, i imagine she was working as a waitress, he walked in to the eatery she worked at and they hit it off, became friends and fell in love.

svetlana is kind, but also a no nonsense type, she will not hesitate to call people out for their shit. like aysun, she also appreciates her husband's muscles.

also not an oc, but in canon the character don flamenco, this guy

has a love interest named carmen

but i had to redesign her because she looks...really bad..why is she dressing like a clown, so here's what i did, based on modern spanish fashion and a stereotypical spanish hairstyle

and i have my own ideas for her, the name "carmen" means song, so i imagine her as a singer, specializing in the flamenco style. she also can play instruments used in the flamenco style like the guitar and castanets.

she provides a calm balance to the more dramatic don as well, and is a gentle person with a kind heart. don was drawn to her because she didn't instantly fall into his charms like other women, he had to work hard to win her affections and she loves him for him rather than shallow things like his looks and fame, being a big celebrity in spain.

i also imagine don is cheesy and romantic, giving her traditional romantic gifts like chocolates and flowers, but also gifts that appeal to her interests like a new guitar. they also enjoy cooking together, with don being the better cook, watch romance movies and shows, do each other's makeup and pick out clothes when shopping. they also like to visit places like bars and restaurants together.

also i want to make an oc to ship with aran, i just need to know what i want exactly and get the inspo for it.

AYY this is based off a convo we had in pms. sorry this took so long HDFHSJ i just kept losing energy n stuff whoops. but anyway iVAN MY BOY!! i dont write about my ocs nearly enough lol. this is set in the future au i guess? idk its a few months after zalgo gets yeeted into a coma and his brother Am has finally decided to stop sulking in the void. and also Ivan is his pet cat

It’s...such a big house. Bigger than you thought it’d be. When they told you they were going to live somewhere among humans, you thought they’d try something...subtle. Simple. Quaint. But no, apparently their idea of ‘’blending in with normal people’’ is a gigantic, upperclass house in New Orleans. It’s so….fancy. It makes you feel guilty for only bringing a basket of cheap store-bought muffins as a housewarming present. Should you have brought champagne? Do- do they even drink champagne...?

You open the metal gate and walk down the garden path. It’s all so...rich...and white. You stop on the porch and grab the fancy door knocker. When that doesn’t get a response, you look around for a doorbell. Oh! Okay- you ring the bell and step back a bit. There’s some muffled thumps from inside, and a silhouette appears in the glazed glass of the door and then-

‘’y/n!’’ the door swings open and someone reaches out, yanking you inside. You’re hugged tight against a strong, cold body. You hear the door shut behind you. If anyone was watching you from outside, they’d probably assume they just witnessed the last moments before your murder. But no, you’re not going to be killed, even though the hug you’re stuck in feels like it.

‘’Ivan- Ivan, buddy, you’re crushing me-’’ you grunt out. You’re dropped and you shift your muffin basket in your arms. Yeah no being hugged with a muffin basket in between you isn’t good, don’t recommend. Thankfully there’s plastic over the muffins, so they’re fine. Mostly. You look up at your friend, Ivan. from the name you’d be expecting some burly russian stereotype, but no. Because stereotypes aren’t funny 90% of the time.

Ivan is tall and strong, yes, but- well- he’s not...human. He’s a demon. Specifically, a demon made of ice cream. Yeah you heard me. His hair, if you could call it that, is just some drips that hang over the top of his head like hair, covered with pink and green sauce and random sprinkles. His ‘skin’ is coloured cream and pink, with the occasional splatter of chocolate. His hands are the same, but with the addition of claws. His legs are bent, like an animal’s, and he has a large tail that swishes behind him, topped with an ice cream scoop of all things. He’s wearing his usual pink button-up shirt and blue jeans. He grins at you with colorful gumdrop teeth, the cones on the top of his head tilting up as if they were ears. You soften and smile at him.

‘’It’s good to see you too, bud.’’ you murmur. You glance around the front hall. ‘’So...this is where you guys are living…?’’

‘’Uh-huh!’’ Ivan gives a nod and looks around. ‘’Pretty fancy, huh? Never thought I’d see a loser like me in a place like this…’’

‘’Yeah, your truck out front looks so out of place.’’

Ivan turns to you and glares at you. ‘’Hey! Be nice to Vanessa!’’ he growls. You laugh a bit.

‘’Sorry, sorry.’’ you reply quickly. Ivan loves his truck. He did live out of it for years after all, so you can’t really blame him. ‘’So...is she retired now?’’ you ask. He blinks.

‘’Heheh, no. She’s got fuel in her yet. I’m just gonna stop sleeping in her.’’ he shrugs and turns. ‘’C’mon, lemme show you around!’’ you follow after him quickly. The front hall is large, with doors to either side and one at the back besides the stairs. You follow Ivan through the door at the back and find yourself in a large room. To your left is the kitchen. It’s large and modern, with not one but two ovens stacked on top of each other, AND a kitchen island. Across the wall from you is a series of full-body windows that bask the room in light. There isn’t much else in the room- in fact, the only furniture is boxes, wooden stools and folding chairs. Actually looking closer- the boxes being used for tables are from Ikea. You look at Ivan.

‘’...where’s your stuff?’’

‘’Oh! We haven’t built the furniture yet.’’ Ivan chuckles. ‘’It’s fine! We’ll get to it soon.’’ he adds.

‘’...huh.’’ you reply. Ivan looks away from you and frowns. He pads away from you, the claws on his feet clicking against the tiles.

"Am! Am, y/n is here!" He calls. You hear thumping coming from another room and then a large, eldritch creature steps into the room. He's gigantic though you know he's not even at his full size. His body is covered in soft fur, save for his hands, feet and face, which are all made of ice. A collar of bright amethysts circles his neck. He has no mouth, just dozens of eyes. The biggest one, right in the centre of his head, is closed. He has a gigantic tail, spiked with sparkling gems, and a pair of wings that are just barely visible behind him..

"Y/n!" He exclaims in a deep, but surprisingly soothing voice. How he speaks with no mouth you have no idea but at this point you've given up on questioning that kind of thing. He walks towards you and crouches down, tugging you gently into a very careful hug against his chubby, fluffy body. You laugh a bit. Am is a lot more gentle, like a kind old grandpa. You pat his chest.

"Hey big guy." You greet. He chuckles a bit and moves away. You hold up your muffin basket. "Brought you a housewarming gift."

His eyes, at least some of them, widen. "Oh!" He reaches out and gently takes the basket in his big ol hands. "Thank you y/n, you shouldn't have." He murmurs. Ivan skitters over and grabs one, unwrapping it quickly and taking a bite.

"Yeah, you shouldn't have." He parrots through a mouth full of muffin. Am pets his head affectionately.

"Yeah I did." You say with a smile. "It's a human custom. You are trying to learn to fit in with them after all." You add with a wink. Am looks surprised.

"Oh! Oh- well, alright then." He gives you a sheepish look. "Come, come, sit down. Can't leave you standing there." He gestures for you to follow him over to the other side of the room so you can sit down in one of the lawn chairs. Ivan runs after him, far quicker than necessary, and throws himself onto...a box. He lays down, curling up like a cat. Am pats his head as he walks past him and sits on the ground. You roll your eyes and go over to join them.

"So how're things back at the mansion?" Ivan asks as you sit down in a cheap blue lawn chair.

"It's alright. Crowded- since we got so many new people…" you chuckle a bit. "There's these two kids, Doby and Toby and I can't tell which one's which! They hang around each other constantly! And then you throw Cody into the mix and I have no idea who's who!"

Ivan laughs, his tail swishing. "Sounds rough," he takes the last bite of his muffin and crumples up the wrapper. "How're the kids?"

Ivan has always had a soft spot for children. Especially the ones in the mansion. "Sally is- well- Sally. She's still trying to keep everyone in high spirits. Slendra...she's become really mature honestly. She helps EJ in the medbay, she cooks meals, she cleans and gardens- she's a good kid...I think she's trying to help keep Slender from overworking himself."

Ivan smiles. "Awe. That's sweet."

"She's such a kind girl…" Am murmurs. You smile a bit. Slendra is technically his niece, and even though they barely know one another, the two seem to adore each other.

"Yeah, she is." You recline back in the chair. "So how's living together going?"

"Oh it's wonderful!" Am chirps. "All these years I watched over the human world but- living here is so much different!"

"He lost his goddamn mind when we went to ikea." Ivan says, looking at you. You laugh.

"Well- it's gigantic!" Am replies defensively.

"That's a lot coming from you, big guy." You say with a smirk. Am laughs.

"Fair, fair."

‘’So what’s your favorite thing so far? You’ve never like- done anything with humans before, right?’’ you cock a brow curiously at him. Am hums and squints a few of his many eyes. Ivan watches him curiously.

‘’Coffee?’’ he suggests. ‘’You drink a lot of it.’’ Am shakes his head. ‘’Cooking? You had a lot of fun doing that!’’

‘’No, no.’’ Am waves him off. He looks at Ivan for a long moment. ‘’...I think it’s you.’’

Ivan blinks. ‘’Me?’’

Am looks pleased with himself. He nods, then reaches over and gently pats Ivan’s head with one of his giant fingers. ‘’Yes. I think you’re my favorite.’’ he chuckles.

‘‘That’s a cop-out. He isn’t even human.’‘ you mutter.

I just love the fictional characters like Bucky is my baby but Seb is just a man across the world. 2- do you think that the country we are from influence our understanding of the movies ? I'm from france, for example Tony's humor is normal here. Steve is not seen as a saviour by everyone but as an interventionist I guess the Irak war in the 00's left their trace here

Alright there’s a lot to unpack in these asks lol. I’m gonna try to take it step by step. 1.) I find actors attractive yes, but do I consider my self attracted to them? No. Does that make sense? I hope it does lol. Except Henry Cavill, that man could do whatever he wanted to me and I’d pay him lmao.

2) Sure, I definitely think your country and countries experience effect how you view movies. I mean just think of what America’s views on radiation vs Japan’s. One makes superhero’s, one makes monsters. Guess which one was a victim of radioactive warfare.

3) I think Natashas character is a bit hyper sexual in the MCU, not in the comics. I mean, in a way, it’s her job to seduce people, but in situation that she’s in in the MCU, I don’t think what they made her do/wear is necessary.

4) I do think CATFA has some sexism in it yes, but I also think it was very true to that time in general. So it’s fitting Women didn’t have a choice then, they stayed home, some women were amazing and took up the jobs that men left behind to keep the country going, but that’s not the majority.

its 6am, i havent slept, im bored, so im posting a list of the mercs in order of whom i like the most and reasons why, because thats something i should do i guess?

here goes

(spoilers for the comics down below but either way i think im the only person on earth who has never read them before now)

~~~

~~1. Medic~~

reasons for being my favourite:

• fucking. look. at. him. 👌

• 'mad german doctor' is one of my favourite tropes and he is a pretty bang-on satirical depiction of it

• cute-ass german accent

• he has pet pidgeons hE LOVES HIS PIDGEON PALS THEY KEEP HIM COMPANY

• healers are the most respectable class imo and since Medic pretty much started it he's automatically the best, thats how it works right?

• he sold some random persons soul to satan in exchange for a ***ballpoint pen*** and can i just say, fucking mood??? (he is literally the "i'd sell you to satan for one cornchip" meme)

• "yes, Archimedes...I couldn't agree more." *shudders* b oi .. .

• so many more reasons to love this gross old doctor so little room in Tumblrs posts.

~~2. Spy~~

reasons for being my second favourite:

• cranky, done with everyones shit, just wants to be left alone, fucking mood

• he's a spy i mean c'mon. look at the swanky-ass suit, look at the class radiating from this asshole.

• he may be a dick but he has a soft side he's just too jaded to show it most of the time (see: Scouts death in the comics?? real tears. honestly wish they'd panned that out more.)

• masks are hot tbFH--

• he enjoys a nice glass of whisky by the fireplace and so do i (fun fact: france is the biggest importer of scottish whisky in the world so its a nice touch)

• shapeshifting is fucking cool are you serious like he can just. do that. what a legend

• "i have a cyanide pill in one of my molars, if i break it then spit some in your mouth before i die, we can avoid being tortured." *'heavy' bursts in to save them* "PFFTHBTHF--"

• "SEDUCE ME."

• arrogant frenchman is one of my other favourite tropes and this is the most arrogant frenchman ive ever seen

• he's the only fully sane Merc, maybe apart from Engie.

• people love to hate him bc he's an asshole but...come on. after working with all those other weirdos for years, you'd be pretty jaded too.

• as a gross shipper, he's the easiest and the most fun (imo) to ship with Medic (rip me)

~~3. Pyro~~

reasons for being my third favourite:

• would have tied with Soldier if it werent for that one picture of them in the comics holding a puppy over their head with the most adoring expression on their mask??? good Pyro. goodest Pyro.

• doesn't do much in the comics but makes up for it in pure charm. look at that soulless face and tell me you dont love it.

• ambiguous gender ambiguous gender amBIGUOUS GENDER AMBIGUOUS GENDER. she/he/they? trans? nb? whatever you headcanon, it'll never be confirmed so its literally up to your own imagination. fucking ace, Valve 👌👌👌

• likes to burn things. god damnit. they like to burn things, guys. but they enjoy it so much, you just cant hate them, you can only feel a sympathetic joy that this precious lunatic is having fun in their own little world.

• canonically mentally ill (schizoprenia? it could be hallucinogenic drugs but i like to think its schizophrenia.)

• pretty sure they burned a pair of pedophiles in the comics. at least i think thats what those panels were insinuating. "lets open an orphanage and have an endless supply of kids to--" sounds pretty red-flaggy to me tbh. plus they were the villains so, eh?

• bludgeoned a bear to death until its skull was pulp because it insulted their special interest. you go, Pyro.

• for a few bits in the comics they have a really cute family dynamic going on with other Mercs, Soldier for example."Miss Pauling, Pyros on my side of the car." "Miss Pauling, Pyro cut off my hand." fuckin' cuties.

• when they start putting on like 50 shirts to keep warm in the Russian mountains. chubby.

• a gas mask that can function as both badass, and completely adorable.

• just. everything about them. how could you not love them. they're not in the wrong, you are. stay away from my misunderstood child and let them burn things god damnit.

~~4. Soldier~~

look I'm sorry, I love Soldier and he was gonna be tied with Pyro but that fucking puppy drawing sold me.

• absolute gold every second he speaks. he could sneeze and i'll laugh.

• such a dumbass you cant get annoyed at him for it. like. just agree with him and move on. no point reasoning with a boulder. "haha! silly Miss Pauling, thinking theres different types of blood." Medic: "haha yes! indeed, silly."

• the first "meet the Mercs" video i ever saw was "meet the Soldier" so he holds a special place in my heart

• I'm Scottish. even though his accent is absolute garbage (no offense to the VA), any representation is very nice.

• Black AND Scottish?? i mean has a character like that even existed before TF2??? amazing example of representation right there. there are barely even any black people in Scotland, how did this happen. I love it. more of this, please.

• he's a drunk guy who blows shit up for shits and giggles and god I wish I could too, sounds like a miracle stress-reliever.

• his sassy black scottish mother. combining the stereotypical black mother with the stereotypical scottish mother is literally the best thing that ever happened.

• the bit in the comic where Medic explains that Demo can't remember what happened to his eye bc he scooped out part of his brain, and the look on Demo's face. just. the look.

• again, he's scottish, he's stereotypical, and he's awesome.

~~6. Sniper~~

• underrated

• piss jars. piss jars everywhere.

• "no dad, im not a crazed murdering lunatic, I'm an assassin. ...well one's a job and the other's mental sickness!!"

• "meet the Sniper" has kickass music

• ruffled gross old man who isn't actually old, he's just seen some SHIT

• actually given development in the comics + some really good scenes with Spy.

• so suave...so...handsome. handsome ruffled bushman. me like.

• he dies first in the comics but gets brought back and gets a cool-ass scar. and then he's just walking around naked everywhere for the rest of the comic. Medic, where the fuck did you put his clothes.

• isn't actually Australian. thats like one of the biggest twists in the comic. "no wonder i was never inhumanly strong and my chest hair didn't grow into the shape of Australia!!" Classic.

• says "bugger" a lot and i love that word

• he needs a hug, let me hug him. and give him a bath.

~~7. Heavy~~

I'm gonna be crucified for putting the big lad so low but i promise i dont dislike any of the Mercs. he'd be higher up but...ive never really liked big huge tank-men tbh :/

• loveable as fuck

• will murder you if you bully his puny little Medic

• i looove Russian accents omfg

• he like big gun. i can respect that.

• when Medic was killed and he went APESHIT on Classic!Heavy and I lost my fuckin' mind over that shit

• he probably has a soft spot for small cute animals. i love imagining him being swarmed by Medics flock of doves and petting them like "good bird...so many good bird..."

• actually smarter than people give him credit for???

• i really really wish his character was a lil more fleshed out but. that's just me. i love him but he doesn't have the same appeal to me as Medic or Spy.

• his entire relationship with Medic...ugh. yes. best friends and/or boyfriends. all good to me 👌

• he named his gun Sasha and that's adorable

~~8. Engineer~~

• gOD, FUCK, I REALLY WISH HE DID MORE IN THE COMICS. i barely know anything about his character. i like him a lot but...god, he...he doesn't...do.....anything.......

• he built a cool robot arm for himself and AI turrets and teleporter machines and guns that fire magic healing powers and immortality machines, in the 1960s. what. some kind of wizard fuckery is this.

• smoothest voice in the west

oh god i really am gonna be crucified. i dont hate him i just. like him the least.

• reminds me of a shitty ex but also kinda relateable in a way

• some genuinely funny bits in the shorts.

• gross horny hetero teen boy with a god complex and serious daddy issues. also, he can't read. the "sex bom" tattoo on his chest will be an eternal testament to that. nice job, Spy. you raised him good.

PSA for everyone to stop sleeping on Finland

This past weekend my friend Nicole and I went to Helsinki, Finland, which is only a 1-hour flight away from Stockholm.

Finland, for some reason, isn’t as heavily romanticized as some other European countries tend to be, which is honestly quite a shame because I thought it was down-to-earth, laidback, and sometimes just breathtakingly beautiful. Nicole and I were in the city for only a day and a half, but this was the perfect amount of time for us to not feel overwhelmed (trying to cram everything we wanted to do!) nor underwhelmed (trying to find things to do). The city was walkable, the public transportation system was great, the weather was a little bit rainy and could’ve been better but at least still sunny!, and the architecture was interesting to look at because there seemed to be both western and eastern European influences. At times, it felt like I was in London, and then a block later in Russia?! which is weird because I haven’t been to either of those places so like how would I even know. :-)

Here are the highlights of our trip!

1) Had photoshoots everywhere but especially at Helsinki Cathedral. Because when you visit a culturally significant monument, you gotta show them who the REAL star of the show is, you know???

2) Took the 20-minute ferry to Suomenlinna and spent half a day there. The fortress of the island is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site because it was built for battling the Russians in the 1700s. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect going into the island, but I came out having the time of my life because the nature on the island was just. so. beautiful. It was pretty surreal seeing the juxtaposition of violence and natural peace, with the cannons & defensive walls against the backdrop of mother nature. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced something like Suomenlinna before, where there was so much rural countryside and history all at once. Hands down my favorite part of the trip.

Suomenlinna also had lots of random tunnels that you could explore, but some of them were so dark that even if you used your phone’s flashlight, it was still pitch black. Kind of creepy and I was half expecting to stumble across a skeleton somewhere lol.

3) Engaged in the Finnish sauna culture. I’m not a particularly huge fan of heat to begin with, but Finns invented the sauna and it’s a fundamental part of their lifestyle and culture. Also every single travel site basically said that you shouldn’t be able to go to sleep at night and live with yourself if you go to Finland without sauna’ing, so really, I had to do it just to be able to say that I did LOL. Yes you sit butt naked with strangers side-by-side (either in separate or mixed genders depending on the facility) but saunas in Finnish culture are seen as a purely non-sexual way of cleansing your mind and body so it’s actually a really relaxing environment.

4) Learned about Finnish design at the Design Museum. (FUN FACT, my first attempt of stepping outside my comfort zone while going abroad was striking up a random conversation with the dude next to me on my first flight to Sweden (lol if you know me then you know that I hate small talk). He happened to be a Finnish graphic designer and actually told me about the simplicity and functionality of Finnish design. Also pretty ironic because Americans are stereotyped as being friendly and overly conversational, which I was trying to be lmao, and Finns are stereotyped as hating small talk but he was actually super friendly)

Some other things that I learned from the Design Museum: Finns invented the orange plastic-handled Fiskar scissors that every single household has, Angry Birds, Clash of Clans, and the ball chair.

5) Ate salmon in one of the orange tents in Market Square, which is probably the most quintessentially touristy Helsinki thing to do, but the food was actually so good. One of my favorite meals abroad so far.

6) Stumbled across an international food festival 2 hours before we had to leave to the airport to go back to Stockholm. I love cultural surprises!! I love accidentally discovering endless booths of food!!! They had different vendors with food representative of their country; eg. Italian salami & cheese, British fudge, Australian kangaroo meat, Belgian waffles, Dutch something, French something, etc. etc.

There were also random artsy hills?! So naturally....

ALL IN ALL, I had a great time in Helsinki. Even though we literally walked a total of 43,000 steps in the span of 48 hours, I actually felt invigorated and refreshed coming back to Stockholm. I think this trip was much needed to combat some of the homesickness that was creeping up on me for the past week. Sometimes it’s easy to take privileges for granted, such as being abroad, but Helsinki reminded me to live in the moment and to just..... enjoy life :-)

Also thankful for Nicole for being great company and for navigating us everywhere because somehow she has a GPS in her head ??

i rly like horror and sci fi movies. years ago tho i had this idea for a hyper stylized (like think sucker punch, lol) war movie that took place during an alternate history 1960s where like a foreign army invaded the united states like nazi germany or russians or something. and the idea was it would sort of center around a diverse group of characters that would form a ragtag crew and survive all the chaos and head west, along the way obtaining one of those kind of larger ww2 bomber type airplanes like a b-17 or a b-24 from an abandoned hangar in the midwest like cornfields nd stuff. and a lot of the movie would take place on it and using it to go on adventures. in the ending they would fly to california with it being the last place to go, and one of the final scenes would be them on a nasa rocket ship flying up over the golden hills with nukes exploding on the ground below and in the air all around them set to the song walking in the sun by the zombies lol. this was very much something i came up with when i was like 17. i say very hyper stylized bc i thought of scenes like: a slow motion shot on a battleship in nyc bay w/ bright blue partly cloudy skies and a very stereotypical pin-up model woman “being seductive” on top of a cannon, camera slowly dollying while she comes down off of it as a sailor loads a projectile and then it fires. and then the camera pans to like 2 jets flying by really fast. this being set to month of may by arcade fire for some reason ? lmao at the time i was deeply deeply inspired by like zack snyder sucker punch watchmen stuff. also it was called “power trip” lol from the song by mc5.
