🪂 — if you come at four in the afternoon, i’ll begin to be happy by three.

summary: all those times riley was with you, she never thought of you like that. i mean, of course, she liked you but it was just a friendship, right? friends could hook up sometimes - it's normal! everything changes when her therapist asks if she wanted to be in a relationship with you. warnings: tooth rotting fluff., slight angst?, transmasc!reader.

the first time riley met you was at a bar.

her friend had asked her to come, only if she wanted to of course. riley reluctant agreed, thinking it would be good to get out. she regretted it not even 10 minutes after sitting down.

you saw her sitting awkwardly in the booth next to yours, only noticing her after your friends had left you to go sing karaoke. you struck up a conversation and asked her if she wanted to grab a bite to eat, intent on leaving the people-infested place.

definitely not because you saw your ex.

after eating with her, which she gratefully paid for, you walked her back to her apartment and contemplated giving her your number before she blurted out she wasn't looking for sex. or a relationship.

you laugh awkwardly, saying that's not what you're looking for either. she explains something about 12 steps and how it's not good to be in a relationship right now. you look at each other intently, riley biting her lip.

you end up making out on her couch before she pulls away when you get too handsy. you stay the night and sleep together under the makeshift fort you made her.

next week, you hang out with her at the arcade.

she texted you that she was free and heard about this old arcade downtown and wanted to go with you. blushing, you text back that you'll see her there.

she spends half an hour looking at herself in the mirror before driving to the arcade.

riley feels as if she's gonna float away as she walks inside, scanning the area for you. she spots you by a machine, face scrunched up in concentration as you smash buttons and she breaks out into a smile. "you started without me?" she pokes your sides as she walks up to you, making you jump.

you clear your throat at the sound of her voice and straighten out your clothes. you give her a shy smile, looking sheepish. "no...i was just testing out the games for you. you know, see if they work." you chuckle, scooting over so she can play.

"well, obviously they do and you suck. you got a high score of 15 on pacman." she teases, starting up her game. you groan, blushing and hiding a smirk. as you watch her play, and absolutely demolish your score, you steal small glances at her face.

and she does the same.

things have gotten kinda serious with you and riley.

and confusing.

of course, you respect her decision of not wanting a relationship, but she's so hard to figure out. it's more than just hooking up now. you practically live at her place, she's always calling you to come over. and you know why. you've been there for her through her recovery but now it's like she's pulling away for some reason.

two weeks pass before she calls you over again.

"hey," you hug riley after she opens the door, inhaling her perfume you've missed so much. "so, i saw this detective game at the store the other day, and i know how much you love that true crime stuff so i thought we could play it?"

riley nods absentmindedly, smiling at you. she feels nervous, like she's meeting you for the first time. she follows you under the fort, her breath catching in her throat when you sit just a little too close. you open the lid to the game, placing the board in the middle and taking out the cards.

"which piece do you want?" you ask, admiring how her eyes shine underneath the lights.

she hums before pointing to a board piece of a dog, and you two grab it at the same time. she gulps hard, fingers gently tracing across your own before she tugs you in for a messy kiss, flipping the board upside down.

riley sighs, licking her lips as she tries to calm her breathing.

"we should put more blankets in here." she breathes out a laugh, rolling on her side to cuddle into your bare chest. she runs her fingers up and down before they reach your cheek, leaning up to kiss you.

you hum in agreement, taking her hand in yours. "i didn't know fucking on a wooden floor would hurt so bad."

"oh, says you - my back probably has dozens of splinters." she pinches your arm playfully and you scoff, rolling your eyes. riley leans up on her arms and feels blood rushing to her cheeks as you stare up at her with adoration.

"i talk about you in therapy." she blurts out.

you chuckle and sit up with her, raising your eyebrows. "oh, yeah? talk about me how?"

"she asked me if i wanted to be in a relationship with you." she mumbles slowly, avoiding eye contact and opting to stare at one of the fallen board pieces. "and i can't stop thinking about it."

you feel something drop in your stomach and nod, scratching your ear. "and uh- do you?" you feel humiliated as your voice cracks, covering it with a clear of your throat. "i mean, wanna be with me...?"

you eye how her throat bops up and down, preparing for the worst as she thinks of what to say. she plays with the ladybug bracelet you got her all those months ago, looking down at it and caressing the gold.

"i think," she starts, scooting closer to you. she places a hand over yours, thumb rubbing against your skin. "that i do."

"and i think that i've loved you for a long time, and not how we usually say it to each other." she confesses, and you give her a soft smile, a warm feeling spreading throughout your body. "i love you. and i wanna be with you."

"i love you too, ri." you press your forehead against hers, grabbing her wrist and kissing the ladybug pendant. "i'll always be here for you."

Y/N has all the stars because she's so well behaved (And Price's favorite)

Gaz has a lot of stars. Because he is a good boy.

Soap has like 3 stars, one of which is only earned because he makes Y/N laugh so often. He is probably gonna lose one soon.

Ghost has one star, only because Y/N felt so bad that he had none so she begged Price to give him one. He'll probably get another one for just keeping to himself and not starting trouble like the other, rowdier soldiers like Soap, though.

Alejandro would have two stars. One for being kick ass on the battlefield, the other for also making Y/N laugh a lot.

'What is this?' and 'I like like you."

You were so confused about what was happening. Riley pushed you into her room. And the last person you wanted to see that day was also there.

"What is this? Why am I here? Why is he here?" You ask while pointing at the one and only Josh Matthews.

"Why is she here?" Josh asked his niece.

"You two are going to talk about this." Riley replied to both of yours and Joshs questions. You shock you head and said to her,

"No. I am not talking him."

"And I am not going to talk to her. So I'm just gonna leave." Josh said but he didn't get to the door on time.

"Sit down." His niece demanded him.

"Talk."

"No." You said. You didn't want to talk to him after he found out what you did.

"Tell her how you feel." Riley said to her uncle, walked out and locked the door.

"You shouldn't have done that." He finally said.

"What?" You asked him like you didn't know.

"Don't play dumb with me. You know what you did."

"So. Why shouldn't I have done it?"

"Beacuse...it's not you Y/N."

"This is me Josh. You think you know me, but you don't."

There was silence so Riley came back in then room looked at you and said,

"Tell him why you did it."

"Riley this is stupid. I'm just gonna go." You replied to her. But as before she said,

"Sit down."

And left the room once again.

"You wanna know why? Marcus is Marcus. He was talking crap about you and the things he was saying weren't true." You finally let go and said it.

"So you got mad at him and...." He began, but stoped to let you tell the story.

"Broke a few bones."

"A few?"

"Okay. I broke a lot if his bones."

"Why?"

"I don't know. Okay, maybe I got a tiny bit protective when Marcus called you a 'weakling'.

"Lets define 'tiny."

Riley came into the once again and said to you,

"Tell him how you feel."

"Riley." You whined.

"Tell him." She says as she leaves once more. You couldn't hold back anymore you had to tell him how you felt.

"Josh, I.....I like like you." You said and smiled at yourself that you finally told him that you liked him. Josh couldn't believe what he was hearing. You liked him back. So he asked you,

"Wait, you like me like me?"

"Yeah, yeah. Don't need to rube it in."

"I actually like like you too."

"Really?"

He smiled and nodded.

"Well you be my girlfriend?" Josh asked you. He finally asked you. So You kissed him as a yes. When you pull away you asked,

"Did that answer your question?"

He nodded his head slowly, staring at you in shock. Josh got snapped out of his trance hearing Rileys' classic "Yyyyyyyaaaaayyyyyy." She came in the room and said,

"If you're gonna kiss, GET OUT OF MY ROOM!"

"Yes ma'am. " Josh said and got up.

"We're out of here." You say. But before you left you smiled at Riley and said,

"Thanks Riley."

"For what?" She asked.

"Forcing me to tak to Josh."

"Your welcome."

When you and Josh left, Riley did her happy dance. She had successfully got you and Josh together.

Simon "Ghost" Riley x Reader One-Shot

It’s been two weeks since she got back to base on her solo mission, and she still hasn’t removed the mask. It’s driving the guys crazy. Never before had she ever worn any type of face covering and now, she’s all about it. And she’s quiet. Usually when she gets back from a mission, she’s like a new recruit who finished patrol on his own, embellishing his tale with guns and knives and threats. This time, she’s tight-lipped about the mission. Hasn’t said a word about what happened. It’s more worrying than the men of the 141 care to admit. Something’s wrong. Something’s happened.

They’ve decided to always keep an extra set of eyes on her, especially at a time like this. Soap and Ghost are overseeing the sparring recruits themselves, whereas she’s in with one. A tall, Austrian soldier from some mercenary group. König, his name is. He’s quick, assured in his skill, and moves like lightning. But they know, where there’s lightning, there’s thunder. And she’s right there, following up on him with every hit or block he gets with two of her own. It’s brutal, even Simon agrees, the two soldiers aren’t pulling their punches. They’re going at it like they’ve met on the battlefield and the stage has been set for one final duel. Man’s tall, bigger than most of the other guys on the base, and where he was reach and strength over her, she’s got flexibility and dexterity over him. He relies on his size to make his hits count, sheer intimidation at some points, she relies on her ability to get in his safe zones and gut him from within.

It's a flash of an arm that makes Soap and Ghost start, a curled knuckled palm to the side of her head that sends the glittering metal mask skittering across the floor, loosened from the impact. Even König freezes in shock, obviously it hadn’t been his intent. All the recruits are now watching and she looks up in shock at the Austrian, his own eyes widening when he sees it on her face; her hand shoots up and blocks the sight from all, sprinting and snatching the mask up as she flees the training room.

It's silent until Ghost barks an order and then the newbies are back to sparring and he and Soap march over to where the Austrian is starting to pace; he stops when he sees them, quickly apologizing, “Scheiße, Leutnant, ich wollte ihr nicht so hart treffen.”

“English.”

“I…I didn’t mean to hit her so hard,” he translates, eyes wide with apprehension. “It was an accident.”

There’s no time to be so upset.

“What did you see?” Ghost asks, his eyes are narrowed behind his mask, glaring up.

König stops his twitching and just takes a hand, making a gesture along where his cheek would be under the sniper mask he’s got on. “Es ist schlecht. Vernarbt.”

Somehow it translates and Soap and Ghost are off chasing her to a locked quarter door; they turn to each other, their own eyes wide in shock. “LT,” Soap starts. “I think we should get Price.”

So, they do.

And the man appears minutes later, brows furrowed as he knocks on the door. “LC?” he calls. “You in there?”

“Go away!” she yells, her voice, they know, is full of fear.

“Love, open the door, or we will.”

She doesn’t, and they do exactly as they said, peering into the darkened room. It’s Ghost who notices the mirror in her bathroom has been removed, the standalone floor length one in the corner has been turned around and covered with a towel.

She’s cowering in the corner, her knees up to her chest, arms wrapped around her head and they kneel beside her; Price lays a hand on her arm. “LC, what’s going on?”

Her head shakes “no,” as she tries to pull from him. “I can’t tell you,” she whispers.

“You can,” he replies, managing to unfold her arms. “You know I’m not going to be angry.”

“It’s not anger I’m worried about.” Her voice is small as she looks up at him through her mask.

“Did something happen on the mission?”

He sees the way her eyes fill with tears, and she looks away, reaching to take the mask off. They see nothing as it falls, her hand is quickly replaced on her left side. “I got spotted,” she says, voice a hush so quiet they have to strain to hear her. “He…he chased me all the way back to my compound. I don’t know how he got the drop on me, but he did.”

“LC—”

“He had a serrated knife,” she adds, turning to face them, and finally lets her hand fall.

And…it’s not a pretty sight. Two jagged cuts line the left side of her face, one starts above her left brow and cuts down, stopping above her cheek. The other is more gnarly, starting just above her ear, it cuts down to the top of her lip. There’s a section of her upper lip, a small triangular section that’s been cut out, revealing the canine beneath. The stitching is rough and uneven, displaying she’d done it on her own—no doubt, she had been miles from the nearest medical center. And two weeks hasn’t healed them enough. They’re still red and angry, puffed from the irritation.

It's finally clear why the mask has been a constant.

Tears slip down her cheeks, lips forming words that won’t make the connection with her vocal cords. “Monster” they manage to hear torn from her and Ghost stands.

“Price, Soap,” he murmurs. “Let me handle this.”

The two men nod in approval and both grab her arms and hands, squeezing as hard as they can to let her know they’re there.

He locks the door behind them and goes to the corner, shifts the mirror back around before coming to get her. Ghost never does anything with grace, unless it’s killing, anything else is treated with ill-concern, and he certainly doesn’t believe in self-pity of any kind. He manhandles her, yanking her to her feet, ignoring her protests to leave her. Ghost plants her in front of the mirror and tugs the towel from it; her expression drops and she starts to look away, but he grabs her chin, forcing her to look at herself.

“You are not a monster,” he tells her. His voice is harsh, grating against the nerves, but it holds no lie. “Look at yourself.” It’s a command and she struggles to lift her eyes to the woman staring back at her. “Look.”

She does. At the jaggedness scarring her face, the tears in her eyes, the pain in her expression.

“This is not the face of a monster,” he says to her, staring into her eyes through the mirror, they never leave hers. “This is the face of a survivor.” She can’t even speak, lump in her throat too large to even swallow past. “The woman who fought and killed her attacker. Stitched her own wounds and made it back alive to tell the tale. She. Is. A. Survivor.”

“People will be scared of me,” she manages and he doesn’t waver.

“Let them. When have you ever given a fuck about a stranger’s opinion.”

“Simon, I can’t—”

“You can. You will.” He takes the mask from her hands and shows it to her. “This is a coward’s way out. You aren’t, and have never been a coward.”

“They’ll stare.”

“Let them,” he reiterates strongly. “When they do, when they make comments, you look back and you say, ‘I survived.’ That’s what you say back.” He accentuates his point by throwing the mask away.

Her head falls, tears dropping to the floor as her knees begin to give under her and he lowers her to the floor, pulling her against him. “I’m scared of her, Simon. I don’t recognize her.”

“She’s you,” he replies. “Still the prettiest poppy I’ve ever seen.” It’s like he didn’t even have to think about it, and he holds her tight. “My pretty poppy.”

Her breath is still catching in her throat as she lifts a hand and digs her hand underneath his mask to touch his cheek. “You still care?”

“I’d care even if you had no arms or legs. Just carry you around like a sack of potatoes. Or get you a wagon and pull you around in it.” She laughs, first time he’s heard it in two weeks, watery, a little pained, but still her. He pulls away to look into her eyes, taking her face in his hands. “You’re a survivor.”

She swallows thickly, nodding her head as he leans his forehead to hers. “I’m a survivor.”

He gazes at her, like he’s waiting to see something, and he does. He sees it so clearly because he’s pulling her up. “C’mon, there’s a giant about to pass out from anxiety. You’ve gotta go kick his ass again.”

“Simon, I don’t think I’m re—” she stops when he simply glowers at her and she swallows again, inhaling deeply once, twice, once more, then she squares her shoulders. “I’m a survivor,” she says firmly. “I’m a survivor and I’m not afraid of what people think about me.”

“Huzzah,” he mutters, and she knows it’s his way of cheering.

“I’m going to go out there and be a survivor.”

“Huzzah.”

“I can do this.”

“Huzzah.”

She stops and holds out her hand. “…Will you go with me?”

“Always,” he says and takes her hand. “It’s you and me, Poppy, against the world. You and me till the end.”

“Huzzah.”

When Riley Matthews found a mysterious sketchbook after class one day, she wasn’t sure what to think. There wasn’t a name to let her know who to return it to. And it didn’t have any notable, personal features like stickers.

The artwork inside, however, was beautiful. And Riley, being Riley, immediately showed the book to each of her friends. Maya was the most impressed since she was an artist herself. You, on the other hand, were not.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” you asked, quickly taking your sketchbook from your friends.

“Is that yours?” asked Riley.

“Your stuff is really good!” exclaimed Maya.

“How come you never told us you like art?” asked Farkle.

“Yeah,” nodded Lucas, “especially that picture of a sunset!”

You paused for a moment, and then asked, “You really like them?”

Your friends nodded with smiles on their faces. No one had made the effort to acknowledge your artistic skills before. It felt... good.

At last, you smiled as well, taking a seat between Riley and Maya. Each of your friends leaned in, excited to see the other drawings you had created.

y/n's eyebrows knitted together as she continued her drawing, the world around her rushing by. she was so focused she must not have noticed farkle who kissed her cheek and, when she looked up, her forehead.

farkle was tired, the day seemed to go by as slowly as it could and he was done. he just wanted to curl up and fall asleep to some bad sitcom with his girlfriend. the two of them did just that, of course.

they were curled up on y/n's bed as they rewatch friends for the 100th time. farkle cringed at a joke that didn't age well and y/n took the opportunity to kiss him on the nose.

farkle kissed y/n as she grimaced at a cheesy choke he'd made. the two were at topanga's talking instead of studying.

y/n pressed her lips to farkle's forehead soothingly as he cried. she hugged him and assured him it would be okay, and that she had him if he needed her.

Summary: You never really thought about finding your soulmate, you never really even thought about your tattoo. That was until you realized two of your classmates’ connected to yours..

Sitting at my desk my finger absentmindedly running over my tattoo. It reminded me of one of the drawings you’d see in school, I never really cared about it because it would only have me looking for the other half of it. I did Google it once though and it is a real mountain. I always thought I would find him or her when the time is right but I never thought it would be without even noticing. Looking over I gaze at my friends wondering if any of them noticed what was going on, hoping that they haven’t put together the pieces of the puzzle I only solved just a few days ago.

‘How does somebody have two soul mates?’ as the thought left my mind Mr. Matthews walked into the room, setting down his bag he picks up the chalk and writes something on the board as he has done so many times. Turning he looks at us and smiles begins to speak, “Soulmate Tattoos. A tradition used to find your spouse for centuries now. We each hold a unique tattoo somewhere on us, and not all of are always in visible areas. When the soulmate tattoo was first discovered it was what life revolved around”

Maya raised her hand interrupting what Mr. Mathews, “No offense but what does this have to do with us, we’re only teenagers.”

“Well Maya, it has everything to do with you guys. Sooner or later while dating you will take notice to your partner’s tattoo and you take it into play in your head. Some people let it determine a relationship, but not every soulmate has to be romantically with you. Your soulmate could be your best friend, a cousin, a sibling. Any questions?”

This time it was my turn to raise my hand, “Can you have more than one?”

“What do you mean y/n?”

“Like a romantic soulmate and a platonic soulmate”

“Well actually it's rare, but it's not impossible.”

“But what about the person who only friends with both of them?” Riley asks speaking up finally.

“Well that's the rare part, that persons tattoo has two different pictures it goes to actually.”

Glancing over I see Lucas’ tattoo as he casually rest his arms on his desk. Maya’s tattoo is harder to see, normally she has bracelets to cover it but when she took them off for gym I noticed the similarities in the all three. I mean I knew of me and Lucas but I didn't care, he loved Riley and she loved him it wasn't like I liked him it was just a tattoo plus I wasn't even in there friend group. All three of us connecting confused me but now it was actually pretty simple, whichever one fit together better was the one that you were romantically supposed to be with.

We were in past period so I decided I had to to go to an adult for help figuring this out and waited behind to talk to the teacher. Mr. Matthews gave me a worried look when I walked up to his desk once everyone left, “Is something wrong y/n?”

“I was just wondering, how do you know if the there connect exactly?”

“Well you kind of just do I guess, what has you so interested?”

“I know two people who have connecting tattoos, but then one of them seen another tattoo that connected but not in the same way.”

“Well how are the connected?” He asks leaning in interested now more than ever.

“They all have to do with maps and earth, but one has tribal type arrows in to the other two have outline designs.” I say hoping he doesn't realize who I'm talking about.

“So do Maya and Lucas know?” He asks smiling and I freeze in my spot, “I know my students y/n, but it wasn't my place to say anything and it still isn't.”

“No, no they don't know. I don't even know if I know for sure. I just can’t seem to get it out of my head because i’m trying to figure it out.”

“Well try to relax your mind, class tomorrow may help a little.”

“Okay, bye Mr. Matthews thank you,” I say heading to the door.

Walking into class today I was more confused than ever, Mr. Matthews was waiting for us in front of his desk. When the bell rings and we are all settled in he smiles at us and begins to speak, “Today we are continuing the topic we started yesterday. I want you all to draw your tattoo as best as you can, you have all of class today but tomorrow I am going to collect them and we all will see how similar some of you really are.”

We all got to work after he said that since the only person who questions him is normally Maya but its drawing so she wouldn’t. I don’t really need very long to do my tattoo so I finish it and set it to the side of my desk taking out a book until class was over.

The next day decided everything, no one knows what is actually going to happen. When we walk in the room we see all the previous class’ tattoos already hung on the wall, we all sit in our seats and take ours out waiting for the teacher to speak.

“Okay guys turn them in,” Mr Matthews says from his desk.

Once he has them all he stand and looks at the walls where there are random spaces in the groups of tattoos he’s already hung before speaking, “I’m going to put your tattoos up with the ones that are similar from other classes and I want you to find them, who knows what else you’ll find out.”

After a few minutes of sitting and waiting he returns to his desk and looks at us, “Go and see what you find.”

We all get up walking around to find them, I’m not surprised that I found mine near Maya and Lucas. I was however surprised that Riley was with Zay, more than one of us found some form of a soulmate today. Looking between the two of them I have no idea what to say. I see Lucas look over at Riley and I see his smile drop, I know the two loved each other but just because she found her tatto match didn’t change how they felt about eachother right now. I offered him a warm zmile grabbing his hand to squeeze it a little, I felt the need to comfort the poor kid.

Boy was I right things are going to change.
