I don’t know if it’s been used or done before

but a trigger for Bucky could be the sound of a blender or a mixer. Like the wrrrrrrr sound. I feel like the electric chair thing he was in would’ve made some kinda noise, right? like, right before the things pressed against his head and electrocuted him, he would’ve been able to hear whatever noise it made

First Glance

So, in the beginning, @kangofu-cb wrote a lovely Winterhawkhood fic called Third Wheel, in which Clint and Bucky pick up Jason Todd in a bar. And then, as part of the lovely @dc-marvel-crossovers server's fanworks-of-fanworks celebration, @there-must-be-a-lock wrote a lovely remix called Second Chance, in which Clint and Jason pick up Bucky in a bar. So, of course I decided that -- purely for the sake of symmetry -- I had to write something called First Glance where Bucky and Jason pick up Clint in a bar. So here it is!

Not as much super-hot threesome sex as the other two fics in this series, but if that's what you're interested in then the last and filthiest chapter of Finders Keepers should also be updating soon. :-)

Bucky changes lanes, glaring at a Suzuki going ten kilometres below the speed limit in the passing lane.  “Why the fuck are you so excited for this one, anyway?”

Jason grins, sharp and feral.  “Human traffickers, baby.  Looking for someone young and pretty to round out their next shipment.  We know where they’re gonna hit tonight and SHIELD’s already nabbed the buyers, so we don’t even need to leave anyone alive once we locate the rest of the merchandise.”

And, yeah, there’s a lot of things about the job that Jason likes, but this scenario is pretty much custom made for him.  He seems to get a very specific sort of satisfaction from playing all dewy-eyed and vulnerable, letting the bad guys think they have the upper hand, and then raining deadly fury down on their heads.  Well, Bucky thinks philosophically, everyone needs a hobby.

Straight On Til Morning

Bucky Barnes/Jason Todd/Clint Barton

Bucky should stop. Wash off the blood. Rest his eyes.

He blinks away the grit and squints up at the sky, making sure they’re still heading in the right direction. It’s unlikely that he’s off-course; the prosthetic is basically locked in place on the steering wheel. Never hurts to check, though. He rubs the lucky star on the gearshift with his other thumb and fights a yawn. Just a little longer.

No sound from Clint up on the roof, but Bucky assumes all is well; he probably would’ve noticed if Clint had fallen off, at least. Yelena lets out a soft snore from the backseat, where she’s curled up with her head in Natasha’s lap. Natasha is leaning against the window, her head cushioned by Jason’s folded-up leather jacket. Probably not asleep, but resting at least.

Somehow he has more people to care about — to take care of — than he ever expected to have again.

It’s two years of wanting him the way he hasn’t wanted Emma since their honeymoon to the pearl of the Pacific, eighteen months of Steve slipping into his hotel suite on business trips away from the prying eyes of New York, and twelve months of staying late after the cleaning staff clock out because Steve will ride him behind his desk with the door unlocked.

my thoughts: i’m a sucker for infidelity fics, and this one is just--very soft and tony’s love of steve and conflict with Emma, and the way that he focuses on Steve’s emotions over Emma’s was everything to me.

my thoughts: this is more focused on winterhawk than stevetony but what I LOVED about the stevetony background ship is how it looks at Steve as human, and the weight of juggling Bucky’s recovery and his ongoing relationship with Tony. Everyone of them--Steve, Tony, Bucky and Clint--are flawed and this fic doesn’t flinch away from that, but rather examines it in a real real and lovely way. The scene where Steve is sobbing in Tony’s lap is heartbreaking and beautiful. 

The Scars of Your Love by blue_jack

On the day Peggy moved out, Steve stood naked in front of the mirror and looked at all the ragged lines running over his body. He felt like someone had taken a knife to him, slicing every inch open, and he didn’t understand how there wasn’t any blood. He traced one particularly thick scar on his stomach, gritting his teeth against the pain, the memory of the first time he’d brought Peggy over to meet his family and all the teasing that had accompanied it burning through his mind. He couldn’t imagine her marks ever disappearing, and in that moment, he didn’t want them to, didn’t want to ever expose himself to that much hurt again. Once in a lifetime was enough.

my thoughts: oh this was so lovely. The idea of heartbreak causing physical scars was gorgeously executed.

Tony, Steve thought with cheeks burning a brilliant shade of red that was bright and deep enough to match the shimmering paint of Ironman’s armor, was a little shit.

Steve had won, he thought furiously as his hand moved across the parchment paper, the blunt pads of his fingers dusted with charcoal. His fingers sketched out a form that he knew from memory. That devious curl of a smile pulling at the corners of his lips, the way a lock of hair fell across his brow despite his best efforts to keep it tamed. The sharp line of his jaw, strong and willful, the arch of his brow as it lifted in mocking censure. Steve knew every curve and divot of that face from memory. Making this bet a really unnecessary one.

my thoughts: 1872 is such a depressing verse for the most part, and this one was very soft and gentle and I loved it.

Okay here’s one for your winterhawk headcanon: how does Nat fit in? Is she around? Out of the two of them who can pin Nat on the mats faster?

Nat is definitely around. She is Clint’s platonic soulmate. When Bucky came in from the cold, so to speak, he was wary of Nat because of their shared history with a dose of, so he found out later, unnecessary jealousy. He adores Clint and now realizes Nat does, too, just in a different way. She is the sibling that Clint should have had. Clint is just happy that the two people he loves the most get along.

Pin Nat faster? Hard one! At first, it’d be Bucky, who might not have the rough edges of the Winter Soldier buffed down. He’d be brutal and quick, maybe playing on Nat’s old fears of his having trained her in the Red Room. After a while, I foresee a draw between either match up unless someone gets in a lucky shot

I have decided to rant about this panel and the trauma our boys got from it

so Red Skull is out here being a villain and uses mind control to f**k with the heroes and we get to this moment where Red Skull is like wow you two are super close gay for each other so I’m gonna make one of you watch the other die and I’m going to use mind control to do it which is so incredibly twisted

like Peter is hearing his best friend the love of his life say (against his will) that he is going to make Peter watch as he end his life. I cannot imagine how terrifying it is to hear the voice of the man you love say that and to know that neither of you have any control

then we get to the Johnny side of things. Johnny had had his free will taken away from him and Red Skull is trying to use that to not only end his life but do so to hurt Peter by making him watch! I am also a winterhawk shipper (Clint Barton x Bucky Barnes) and a lot of fics for that ship talk about their shared trauma of losing free will and not having control over yourself (Loki and Hydra for them) and how much that messes you up, Johnny is dealing with this!! sure it’s not lasting as long and it’s a different situation but my boy is still going through that and he is being used as a weapon to his lover and himself it makes me wanna scream

obviously they’re superheroes and all of this shit with Red Skulk gets resolved but the trauma of this situation I don’t think gets talked about enough in the fandom, specifically spideytorch shippers like this is great angsty fic fodder,

so here’s some of my angsty thoughts about what happens after

Johnny wakes up panicked and holding his head every night for weeks convinced Red Skull is still in there

when the nightmares got really bad Peter had to hold Johnny down so he didn’t try to harm himself in an attempt to get Red Skull out of his head

neither of them feel safe when Johnny has anything that could even remotely be used as a weapon

Johnny avoids the kitchen cause all he sees is ways that Red Skulk can kill him in front of Peter

Peter had an anxiety attack when Johnny was sitting on the roof with him because he could only hear mind controlled Johnny saying he would make Peter watch him die and pictured Johnny falling

they develop code phrases and questions to ask to reassure each other that the other isn’t mind controlled

for at least a year after anytime Johnnys voice sounds different, even if it’s just cause of a cold Peter gets nervous and demands a code phrase

it takes a while for Johnny to trust his own mind and body again afterwards and Peter doesn’t know how to fix that which is really frustrating for him

when Johnny feels out of control he doesn’t want Peter nearby because he doesn’t want Peter to have to watch whatever might happen next

of course Peter can’t bare to leave Johnny so they had to develop a solution for that

Peter will sit around the corner or on the other side of a door so he can still be there but not see Johnny, it’s a weird loophole but it works for them

winterhawk PDA hc I was thinking about while on the bus

I don't think either of them are big on PDA in a making out in public kind of way but in a their always touching in some capacity kind of way. They'll hold hands while walking lucky or laying on each other while sitting.

Clint almost consistently has his head leaning on Bucky. Whether their in the store deciding what cereal to get (lucky charms [clint] and corn flakes [bucky]) or sitting in some coffee shop. They'll go a date at a shit diner and sit on opposite sides of the booth and by the end Clint is on Buckys side with his head on top of his.

Bucky puts his arm around Clint and sticks his thumb in his belt loop while they walk together or just stand. Bucky's hand is usually somewhere around his waist. When he meets up with Clint somewhere he puts his hand on his waist before he says hi.

ALSO PET NAMES OMG they love calling each other pet names and most of them are jokes but its also their way of being affectionate. Clint calling Bucky bucky bear, bubby, or my baby bucky while he's drunk.

Bucky calls Clint more feminine names pretty boy, princess, doll. In the beginning Clint was cocky and shit and bucky called him pretty boy and he completely stopped and his whole face turned red and Bucky just continued to do it.

Finders Keepers - Now COMPLETE!

The fifth and final chapter of Finders Keepers is now posted. Please enjoy the potentially filthiest thing I've ever written. :-)

Chapter Five Excerpt:

Because he’s too well-trained to have shown it, but he noticed, of course he did, as soon as he pulled Clint up off of Jason.  He saw Jason’s chest clearly for the first time, and had to bite back the flare of rage at the unmistakable Y-shaped scar spanning his chest from shoulders to navel and the deranged writing carved in a winding path across his torso.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA …

It had suddenly made even more sense, the way Jason had challenged Bucky to take off his shirt, making him ante up his own scars before he saw Jason’s.

And so Bucky takes the time to circle the bed again, until he’s standing square in front of Jason.  He keeps his eyes on Jason’s face, on the expression in his eyes and not the hooked scar in the corner of his mouth that Bucky only now realizes is a “J” carved into his skin.  In his peripheral vision he sees the way Jason hunches his shoulders down, curling into himself and crossing his arms over his chest for just a moment before he consciously overrides the instinct and throws his shoulders defiantly back instead.

“You’re beautiful,” Bucky says, and for a moment it looks like maybe Jason’s going to throw a punch, his eyes narrowed as if he thinks Bucky is mocking him.  Bucky just holds his gaze, and eventually Jason nods, letting out a long, shuddering breath.

Writing Reflection

After I got back into writing fic this year it was something I really enjoyed all throughout this year. I discovered a bunch of fun challenges and servers, met many lovely people (sadly all online) and learned a lot. I have hyperfocused a lot, especially in the summer and I collected a boatload of prompts I would like to fill in the coming year.

I have a lot of fics already planned for the next year. There will be a lot of feels, fluff and angst/whump alike and I hope I can keep the run I had this year going.

A big thank you to everyone who supported me along the way, be it with ducking/spaghettiing fic ideas, sprinting with me, participating in challenges, commenting, sharing or even just reading and liking my fics.
