There was a time when Tony had panicked about his future.
He’d had Peter young, just a couple of years into a crappy relationship that had fallen apart long before their bundle of joy had come and couldn’t be fixed even by Peter’s cherubic smile. From the very first moment, Tony had loved his boy. There hadn’t been a moment that Tony had regretted the relationship that had led him to his son, or ever wished that things had turned out differently. Not when Peter had had a phase as a baby of not sleeping through the night if the temperature wasn’t exactly 78 degrees, not when he’d learnt to talk and hadn’t exited his “why” phase for weeks on end, not even during the long weekend when Peter had caught pretty much every bug floating around his daycare all at once.
Parenthood was where Tony thrived but, through it all, he’d lain awake at night and longed for someone next to him that wasn’t 2 feet tall and not quite potty trained. He’d wanted a conversation with another adult that wasn’t hurried at the drop-off gate or about yet another late project at work, and he’d wanted an arm around his waist when he was dangerously close to falling asleep whilst making himself his first coffee of the day.
Everything he wanted for himself, he also wanted for Peter’s sake. He’d wanted someone else to see Peter’s drawings and marvel over them as they went up on the fridge day after day after day. He’d wished for presents from a grandparent at Christmas and another parent who could calm them both down when Peter refused to sleep even as the sun started to rise on the horizon.
Tony had spent years worrying that no one would take on a small child with an absent parent who could come back and cause a storm at any time. He’d never expected anything to come from a one-night stand when the lights had been turned on in the morning and all of Peter’s toys could be seen in their scattered glory.
But, then again, Tony had never imagined Steven Grant Rogers.
.
They’d decided early into their planning that they didn’t want to do a walk down the aisle. Neither of Tony’s parents would be there to walk with him and Sarah had gotten so tearful at the prospect of their engagement alone that they didn’t trust her to be able to see to walk down the aisle on the wedding day itself.
What they had decided instead was to have Peter as the star of the show, with the rings safely in his possession as he walked down the aisle to both of his parents waiting for him at the altar.
And, boy, did he steal the show.
Tony watched with a wide grin as Peter all but skipped up the aisle, his tuxedo so little it was almost comical. Casting a glance to his left, Tony felt something ridiculously fond catch in his chest at the pure and unabashed expression of love on Steve’s face as his eyes tracked Peter’s dance.
“God, look at him,” Steve murmured.
“He’s gonna drop those rings before we can get them,” Tony laughed.
“Yeah, probably. But he looks cute, so I’m sure we’ll survive without them.”
Tony scoffed. Be that as it may, he wanted a ring on his finger.
All of a sudden, Peter let out a gasp and started running. “Grandma!”
A ripple of laughter made its way through the guests as Peter headed straight for Steve’s mother.
“Oh, look at you, my darling,” Sarah crooned, bending down and smoothing a hand over Peter’s hair when he reached her. “You look so gorgeous, little man."
"Hi, Grandma!"
"Hello, my love," Sarah laughed.
"Wanna sit with you!"
"Of course, but first you have to give Daddy the rings. They're very important.”
Peter took Sarah’s hand in a tight grip and practically shoved the ring cushion in Tony’s direction without looking at him. Steve laughed loudly, his eyes still solely on Peter as well.
Tony might have been jealous if he hadn’t been so relieved. So, yeah, he thought to himself as he untied the rings from the cushion and handed them to the officiant, he really needn’t have worried after all.

SteveTony Weekly - March 31 - Week 13
Tumblr media
Here’s what I read this week!! Check it out and be sure to comment and kudos as you’re reading!
~*~
Never is a Promise by manic_intent
Steve had to admit that he had some reservations about how the New Century handled the social balance between alphas and omegas.
arei’s thoughts: I love this and the way that it twists A/B/O dynamics. The relationship builds so nicely.
Citation Needed by elwenyere, FestiveFerret
Historian Tony Stark has one year to get his book about WWII weapons technology under contract before he goes up for Full Professor at Stanley College. There's only one chapter left to finish, which is supposed to explain Peggy Carter's involvement with something called "Project Rebirth," but there are two problems: his trail of evidence goes cold every time he encounters references to an enigmatic soldier named Steven Rogers, and his stress levels shoot through the roof every time he runs into the endlessly frustrating new hire in Fine Arts, Dr. Grant.
arei’s thoughts: this is so lovely because the identity porn and Tony being so very--Tony. And the way  it all came out, I just love it so much.
Counterpart by sara_holmes
coun•ter•part [koun-ter-pahrt] [noun] 1. a person or thing closely resembling another, especially in function. 2. a copy; duplicate. 3. one of two parts that fit, complete, or complement one another.
Just because Hydra used the DNA of a Captain America from another dimension to create a lab-grown, six-year-old super-soldier, it doesn't mean that said six-year old super-soldier is biologically Steve's, right?
(Where Steve wants to ban Clint from bringing things home from alternative dimensions, until he doesn't.)
arei’s thoughts: i’m a big fan of this fic and a lot of it is down to Steve’s characterization and how much he struggles with having a child thrust upon him. It’s so very in line with the headcanon I have of Steve that it was nice seeing it here.
Wish List by scifigrl47
It's Valentine's Day, and that's a busy day when you run a high end restaurant. Or a food truck parked outside of a high end restaurant. Some things fall through the cracks, and your friends might just start to worry things are falling apart.
arei’s thoughts: I really love scifigrl47 and this verse in particular is a favorite--this is utterly gorgeous and super sweet.
play it back slow by meidui
“I’ve finally got you right here. I don’t wanna go full steam ahead and crash this thing before I figure out how to drive it.”
“I thought you liked running risks,” Steve says, only very distantly aware that he might look like a disheveled mess right now and doesn’t have a lot of authority.
“Not on you,” Tony says firmly, and Steve knows that’s final because Tony doesn’t often use that tone.
arei’s thoughts: this was so soft and lovely. Tony’s determination to take things slow and Steve’s desperation to…not…it was just so lovely.

“Um hello, Tony.” Steve says as he smiles with his whole face, the way Tony really loves and Tony wraps his fingers around his coffee mug just to make sure he doesn’t reach over and do something silly with them.
“Hey Cap, top of the morning to you too.”
Steve sits down on the other side of the counter and takes his time to open the bottle and drink plenty of water. He then looks up at Tony and-- wait, why is he blushing?
“So, um, you know … I was thinking, that, um …” Steve tries, opening and closing his mouth, the color spreading over his neck. “I wanted to … you know …” and he grabs the water bottle and takes a few more gulps, and the water apparently goes down the wrong way because he starts coughing all of a sudden.
Tony jumps off his seat, runs to Steve and pats his back a few times until Steve starts to breathe normally again. “Calm down Cap, take a deep breath,” and he realizes that he is rubbing Steve’s back still, so he pulls his hands away, “it would have made the worst headlines if you actually choked on a few drops of water,” and they both laugh although it’s the worst joke Tony has come up with, ever.
Steve looks up at Tony and takes a deep breath, “Okay, here we go. I’ll spill before I accidentally choke on something else.” He takes another deep breath before he speaks again, and Tony can’t stop himself from inhaling sharply because God, how could a simple breath be so intoxicating. Do you want to go out with me? You know like a date or something?”
The world freezes for a second.
Tony can’t believe that he is finally hearing the words he’s been anticipating, for god knows how long, but today and like this. He rewinds them in his mind, hoping to have heard wrong, but there is no other way to interpret Steve’s words and he is not looking at Tony right now so Tony can’t really read his face.
Tony takes a step back as Steve finally brings his eyes up from the water bottle and he is not even smiling which hurts even more for some reason. No fucking tears, Tony mutters to himself, not for something stupid like this and he squeezes his eyes shut, keeping them like that for a few seconds before he opens them to look back at Steve again.
“You know what Steve? Fuck you too.” And he walks a few steps backward out of the kitchen and runs for the elevator.

soooo it's that time of year again, if you haven't already over the past 4 years, go give this a read and if you have, no time better for a reread than right now :)
April’s Fool 4.3 k, T
Steve asks Tony out on April Fools’ Day, not realizing what day it is. Tony gets upset and rejects him. Tony can’t believe Steve would mock him like this. Steve can’t believe Tony would reject him like that. There is a bit of a twist though, and Steve might need to take matters in his own hands.
Misunderstandings, Light Angst, Happy Ending, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, slightly though, Tony Stark Needs a Hug, Protective Steve Rogers, Post-Avengers (2012), Ty is a jerk, April Fools’ Day, Social Media, Twitter

Steve gets caught attempting to take his first-ever dick pics. It's a struggle, he explains, because it brings up a whole host of lingering body image issues. Tony, very gallantly and not at all because he is in love with Steve, offers to take the photos for him.
[Cue: "Careless Whisper."]

18+ smut
Due to coming across a completely unrelated post, I am now thinking about SteveTony and bondage. About Tony tying Steve up and then taking his cock.
Maybe the ropes are a purely aesthetic thing, Steve still fully mobile with ropes crossing over his chest, Tony using them to tug him forward and make him go harder, Steve, c'mon.
Maybe the ropes are tying Steve's hands to his body, Tony pushing him on his back and riding him as he pleases, whether fast and hard or torturously slow.
Maybe Tony likes to tie Steve up and tease him until he snaps and uses his superhuman strenght to break free and take Tony hard.
Maybe Tony likes to tie Steve up exactly because he knows that no matter what he does, Steve trusts him enough to not break free.

tony's stickers of love
stevetony I when Tony prints a couple of "Tony Stark Approved" stickers as a joke, the last thing he expects is to end up covering Steve's heart with them ; written for the lovely cassie <3
Tumblr media
also on ao3
It began as a joke.
He just wanted to have a bit of fun with Peter, who’s been bringing him most of his recent chemistry project every other afternoon, asking question after question about how to improve them. At first, Tony just helped him, spending the afternoons working with him on them, and that was the end of it.
But at some point, the idea of creating the stickers appeared in his mind.
It probably happened one of those nights he pulled an all-nighter only fueled by caffeine and a tight deadline; he’s had lots of pretty good ideas in those situations.
So he just did it, as he does with every single idea he has.
And yeah, the first “Tony Stark Approved” sticker went to one of Peter’s chemistry projects, which made the kid ridiculously proud and Tony ridiculously amused.
So of course he kept printing them.
As a matter of fact, he got used to having a couple of stickers always on hand whenever he was out. He didn’t know what he’d end up using them for, but it seemed like a good inside joke with himself.
That’s how, barely a week later, he gets to grant his next sticker.
They’re in the meeting room in the Avengers Tower, and in the middle of a briefing on a new mission Fury wants to send them on, Steve says something along the lines of, “and what if we try to surprise them using Tony’s last tech? You know, the chameleon skin he’s just developed.”
And aw, shucks , for Cap to suggest using Tony’s tech on a mission is always the highlight of his day, so of course Tony takes advantage of the fact that Steve is sitting right next to him —his body slightly turned towards him, as it always seems to be— and stamps one of his stickers in his forehead as he says, “such a good idea, Cap.”
And well, if the way he frowns in confusion is just way too adorable for Tony to cope with, that’s totally on him.
“What…?” Steve starts to ask, reaching with his hand to touch the sticker. He doesn’t try to pull it off, though.
“Tony Stark Approved,” Clint reads the sticker, and proceeds to cackle so hard he ends up having to hold his tummy. Nat and Thor smile beside him, going as far trying to disguise their own laughs as coughs. “Brilliant!”
“Always am,” Tony smiles widely, enjoying the way Steve’s flushing.
The fact that Steve doesn’t take it off for a while isn’t lost on any of them.
It doesn’t take Tony more than a week to find another excuse to use his stickers. And if this time the winner also happens to be Steve, well, that’s just a coincidence.
They’re lounging on the common room when Steve enters the room wearing a rather tight shirt. Or, more accurately, a shirt that’s sticking to his wet body. He seems to have just taken a shower, and Tony seems to be the only one aware of the fact that Steve’s nipples are clearly visible through the shirt.
So of course he has to take another sticker out and put it over one of them —to protect Steve’s honor, of course. What other reason could there be behind it?
None. None at all.
“What’s this one for?” Steve asks him, touching the sticker with curiosity. He seems to be admiring it, as if he finds being awarded one of those some kind of honor. Tony has to look away when he sees Steve’s expression soften into an amused smile, totally unbothered by Tony’s anctics. Something short circuits in Tony’s mind at the sight.
“Had one to spare,” he mumbles, running to the other side of the couch to cuddle at Bruce’s side.
And if Steve and Tony spend the rest of the movie night exchanging looks when they think the other one isn’t looking? Well, that’s just another one of the many benefits of his stickers, Tony thinks.
He’s known for only having brilliant ideas, after all.
As time goes by, Tony realizes they’ve fallen into a routine without really meaning to. For one, he’s gotten used to always having a handful of stickers close; just like Steve’s grown used to giving Tony these looks from time to time, as if trying to guess when will be the next time he earns one of them. It almost reminds Tony of a puppy looking for a treat, a comparison he never says out loud.
There’s the time they’re on an incognito mission and Tony’s cover is blown up. In the end, Steve is the one that gets both of them out of there as soon as possible. So of course he gets a sticker in his arms —the same ones he used to carry Tony to safety— for that.
Then there’s the day Steve tried out his new suit, and Tony couldn’t help putting a sticker on his butt. He’ll never forget the way Steve stuttered a question and proceeded to be rendered speechless when Tony smiled at him and answered sweetly, “don’t you agree such an artwork deserves a prize?”
Or the day Steve said something so funny Tony couldn’t stop laughing for ten minutes, which earned him a sticker on his cheek.
The fact that Steve never complains about them, and never takes them off in front of Tony, only fuels this slowly growing tradition even more. Tony’s mind is really simple: as long as he keeps getting positive feedback, he’ll keep printing the stickers.
Curiously, it also ends up being the perfect excuse to spend more time together. Tony’s not sure if Steve realizes how they’ve slowly grown used to spending more and more time together; be it in the gym, where they get used to spar —and where Steve gets a new sticker every time he lets Tony win—, or in the kitchen during the nights where both of them gravitate towards the fridge looking for some remedy to their insomnia.
Of course, Tony gives Steve a sticker every time he makes him some warm milk without Tony needing to actually ask for it. Then they sit shoulder by shoulder in the kitchen aisle, New York’s skyline reflecting in Steve’s eyes as Tony tries very hard to avoid being caught staring.
He’s staring. Every single time.
Time goes by, and by the time Tony suspects this might become another thing he just does out of habit, never to change, Steve decides to prove him wrong.
“Hm, would you stay for a moment?” Steve asks him one morning, after they’ve just finished sparring with the team. All the Avengers have already abandoned the gym, and Tony was about to do so too, until Steve’s voice —full of doubt and hope and everything in between— stops him where he stands.
Tony turns around, and sees Steve standing in the center of the ring. His shoulders are thrown forward, as if he’s trying to make himself look small, and there’s a small smile on his lips.
But what attracts Tony’s attention is the way he keeps reaching for the sticker he’s just stamped on his left arm with his right hand, as if it’s some kind of talisman.
“Sure,” Tony simply answers as he approaches him, hands buried in his pockets. “What’s up?”
“Um, I was wondering…” Steve bites his lips, playing with it as if doing so is going to make the words magically show up. “Would you like to go out sometime?”
Tony blinks, caught off guard.
“As in, just the two of us?” Tony asks, just to make sure he’s hearing right. Are you asking me on a date?
“Yeah,” Steve answers. And, well, there’s no other way to describe the way he says it. It sounds as if Steve is eager to go out with him, which feels wild to Tony. It takes him a couple of seconds to find his own words.
“Okay,” he finally answers, nodding to himself. “Yeah, sure.”
And the way Steve’s whole face illuminates at that answer? Well, if that manages to make Tony’s heart skip a couple of heartbeats, he can only hope he’s the only one to notice.
***
They go out.
First, it’s the movies. Then, dinner in a normal place. Then, dinner in a fancy one.
Then… Well, if it weren’t for the fact that Tony’s a certified genius, he could say he almost loses count of how many dates they go on (no, he doesn’t: he’s perfectly aware they’ve been on nineteen dates so far).
And then… Well, Tony doesn’t expect what comes next.
They’re visiting a gallery Pepper has been pestering Tony about —a gallery Tony is going to exit being the owner of yet two more paintings; the fact that both attracted Steve’s attention first being purely a coincidence, of course—, and they’ve received their fair share of looks.
Or, more specifically, their joined hands have received their fair share of looks.
Now they’re both tucked away in the shadows, next to the catering tables. Tony might be a bit tipsy, the world pleasantly blurry around its edges as he rests his hip on the table behind him.
So, of course, when Steve leans forward to clean a breadcrumb from Tony’s lips, Tony can’t help stealing a brief kiss from him. It’s a small, innocent thing. Something that has probably gone unnoticed to everyone there.
And yet, Tony realizes it’s not nothing the moment he takes in Steve’s expression. The way his lips are slightly open as his eyes blink once, twice, even three times, as if expecting the image before him to change.
Or maybe to make sure he’s not dreaming?
Tony giggles at the thought, taking a sip from his champagne.
“Sorry, Cap, I—” Steve’s lips drown his words the moment his lips collide with his again, robbing him of his breath in a swift move. When Steve separates enough for their lips to stop touching but not enough for Tony to stop feeling Steve’s breath merging with his, Tony sighs, “Oh.”
“Don’t apologize,” Steve says, his voice rough with emotion. “Not if you meant it.”
“I—”
“Did you?” Steve asks.
How can one not mean a kiss? Tony wants to ask. But even he knows that would be a stupid question to ask, and a cruel one at that.
Because that’s the moment he realizes, as he looks at Steve trying to desperately find an answer to his question in his eyes, that he might have been underestimating this thing that’s been growing between them, between sticker and sticker.
“Because I do,” Steve ends up saying before Tony can find his own words. He speaks earnestly, with the kind of passion Tony’s only seen him show in battle. “I think I love you, Tony. I– I think I’ve loved you even before I realized I did.”
Tony gulps, looking up at Steve as if he’s seeing him for the first time. He suspected he wasn’t the one that was starting to have feelings, but he hadn’t allowed himself to build castles in the clouds, not so soon, at least.
But now he can’t just keep doing that, can he? No, of course he can’t, not when Steve is putting his heart in a tray, wrapped up in all these unguarded emotions, all for him to see.
That wouldn’t be fair, of course it wouldn’t. But then again, Steve’s just managed to do what few others could in the past.
He’s left Tony Stark speechless.
Can anyone blame him for taking a sticker out, sticking it over Steve’s heart and leaning forward to kiss him yet again?
It takes him a few seconds before thoughts finally rearrange themselves in his mind; by then, he’s already lost himself in Steve’s arms, unable to pinpoint where his body ends and Steve’s starts.
“I do,” Tony finally whispers, breathless, the confession rolling off his tongue in a relieved sigh. “Of course I do.”
And damn him if Steve’s laugh doesn’t taste like the most intoxicating thing in this world.

SteveTony Weekly - The Best of 2023
Tumblr media
We made it to the end of the year!! I read…a lot. A lot. According to my records, I read:
1300 fic
15million words
98% of that was SteveTony and narrowing that down to my favorite 10 was…a mission. Here you go--And I’d LOVE to hear what your favorite reads of the year was.
~
Trust Fall by Sineala
Tony needs someone who cares about him, bandages, a jacket, ibuprofen, dinner, a lasting romantic relationship, a nice time in bed, and assistance committing federal crimes. He gets them. In that order.
Gather Ye Rosebuds by lazywriter7
It isn’t like that, for many people. For them, love is the point: the axis around which everything else revolves, the destination at the end of a long, tumultuous journey. Realisation, confession, resolution. Happy ending. That’s how it goes. And love was a point in Tony Stark’s journey, except it came towards the beginning, rather than the end. The issue, instead of the solution.
He hasn’t been alone on the trip, of course. Steve’s been there: sometimes three steps behind, sometimes waiting up ahead by the turn of the road. They’ve sprinted and stumbled, sometimes stood still and refused to move on ahead, sometimes thought of turning away altogether.
Steve and Tony’s story began after they fell in love, and this is about how they fell in everything else.
a rose by any other name by meidui
“Just Steve,” he says quickly, softly, and his voice is music to Tony’s ears. “Please call me Steve.”
Tony can’t help but stare as it occurs to him that he should have prepared a proper greeting. What on earth is someone so young and pretty doing in an engagement like this?
-
There are a lot of things about Steve that make this arrangement easier than Tony thought it would be, but then there are a lot of things about him that complicate it, too.
Second Chance Lives by raeldaza
Tony's gonna die of palladium poisoning anyway, why not join a pointless expedition to recover Captain America’s body? And after, well, why not dedicate his last few months to making sure an American hero settles into his new life? What else is he going to do, get drunk at parties?
My Known Unknown by shetlandowl
That True Lies AU nobody asked for, set in a world where Stane Inc is the world's foremost weapons manufacturer, and Tony's employer.
I could lie tangent to your curves by RurouniHime
Steve is bodyguard to a prominent young socialite with too much genius on his hands... and who has taken an unfortunate shine to him.
Not a Breakup by Annie D (scaramouche)
Tony knew it was a bad idea to start sleeping with Steve. It could mess up team dynamics, make things even more awkward between them in the future, or just plain get in the way of their trying to save the world. Tony foresaw all of the above but not the advent of feelings, and at the most inopportune moment.
now I worship a celestial sun by haemodye
The thing that gets Tony the most is how long it takes him to notice.
Not Steve, or even the other Avengers, but Tony himself. It takes Tony almost two whole weeks to figure out that he’s unable to disobey a direct order from Steve, which just- what the hell is that? What happened to the days when he flew off the handle, unable to play well with others, a notorious wild card?
“God, don’t tell me I’m getting old and predictable,” he says, rubbing a hand over his forehead. And then, “Fuck.”
A mostly-comedic farce involving: 1 obedience spell, 2 pining Avengers, 1 long-suffering Sorcerer Supreme, and 1 single, extravagant Saint Patrick's Day float.
Can't Write One Song (That's Not About You) by FestiveFerret
Ten years ago, Tony fell in love with his roommate: funny, handsome, kind, smart Steve Rogers, who also happened to be the lead singer and guitarist of a band, The Howlies.
Then The Howlies made it big, Steve moved away, and Tony vowed to avoid any mention of the band, their songs, and the man he missed his chance with.
But chance has a way of giving you exactly what you need, even if you don't know it yet...

Artwork by @zappedbysnow Commissioned by @t0nystark1er
“Look, I don’t know what game you’re playing, but you’re weirding me out.” Tony looks down at the scant space between their bodies, shoulders still shaking with laughter. “This was fun, Cap, but I really need to go—”
He raises a hand to clap Steve on the shoulder. Steve seizes his wrist and Tony freezes mid-motion, body half turned away from Steve, making to leave. His facial features, previously twisted into frenzied laughter, slowly melt back into a carefully constructed impassive mask.
“Tony,” Steve calls, voice splintering at the last syllable. He stares imploringly at Tony, who still refuses to look at him, gaze trained at the ground. Taking a deep breath, he lets his fingers curl tighter around Tony’s wrist, and finally throws caution to the wind: “You’re in love with me.”
- An excerpt from wanting was enough by earliebirb
A while ago, I wrote wanting was enough for the lovely @t0nystark1er after they won my Marvel Trumps Hate 2020 auction. To my surprise, a few months ago, they approached me again telling me that they had commissioned an artwork from the talented @zappedbysnow. The commission was for an artwork of any scene from the fic — my choice. To say that I was touched and honored is a massive understatement. I was so grateful that they liked the fic enough to commission an artwork for it, and that on top of that, they had commissioned an artwork from a SteveTony artist whose work I happen to absolutely adore. Finally, I decided to go with this particular scene from the fic. It’s a scene that I thought of as the “climax” of the fic, a moment that marked a turning point in Steve and Tony’s relationship within the story. I still like the scene a lot, and I thought Snow did a brilliant job of capturing the tension between Steve and Tony in that moment. Their facial expressions are so vivid and accurate, like they were pulled straight out of my imagination. The nervousness on Steve’s face, the way he felt so terrified but still decided to soldier on. The lines of Tony’s face taut with tension, body half-turned away as he moved to leave, his eyes downcast as he avoided Steve’s gaze. Their height difference, Steve’s firm grip around Tony’s wrist. I could honestly go on and on about how much I love this piece. Thank you so much to the lovely @t0nystark1er for bidding on me during MTH 2020 and for commissioning an artwork for the fic. Thank you to the talented @zappedbysnow who poured hours upon hours into this masterpiece, constantly keeping me updated throughout the whole process, and being patient with me and my many requests and frequent lapses in communication.

Dear Juliet by iam93percentstardust
'What' and 'if' taken separately are just words, but put them together and they form one of the most terrifying questions in the English language. What if? What if you hadn't left that day? What if you had changed your mind and turned around? What if she forgave you? What if, even all these years later, you gave yourself a shot at a second chance? ~ When Steve Rogers is given a chance to accompany his friends to Verona, Italy, he's expecting to spend a few days wandering through vineyards and probably seeing at least one Shakespeare performance (and if he's lucky, finding some inspiration for his next webcomic). He isn't expecting the handsome brown-eyed man who works with Juliet's Secretaries or the decades-old love letter that he finds behind a loose brick underneath Juliet's balcony or that the response he sends to Dame Margaret Carter will be answered, not by another letter, but by the sender herself showing up in Verona. He isn't expecting that he'll get caught up in a whirlwind adventure to help Peggy search for her lost love, the woman she left long ago, her beloved Maria.
I'm working on a new long fic! This one's been sitting in my wips folder for ages, and I'm so excited to finally start sharing it with y'all!

"We don't have to push through." Steve was twiddling his thumbs on his lap, his gaze on the floor. "It's alright."
Outside, they could hear the screams of the Capitol excited to see them beside Caesar again. It would be their first interview since winning the Games. A historical win: the first time two tributes were hailed as Victors of the Hunger Games. From different districts too, all because Tony, District Two's golden child, had impulsively said he had a crush on one of the other tributes. He waxed poetic on Steve's behalf, pushed on the narrative during the actual games, and then suddenly, there they were, waiting for their names to be called on so they could announce their engagement.
It was easy to fool the people of the Capitol. Tony knew their system, their ways. Tony knew that love was an easy story to sell. He was no stranger to high society, after all.
"It's alright," Steve repeated, more to himself now.
Tony stood and walked to the door. A blush creeped up his cheek as he laid a hand on Steve's shoulder. If only it wasn't as easy to fool himself. "C'mon. They're waiting for us."

A bit late but I finally got this out marking my second bingo for @therollingstonys trope/AU bingo! Almost lost inspiration with this one. I started this last year and tried to continue with the concept.

I got as far as most of the lineart before realizing I knew I had to redo everything. Make everything more personal and intimate, in a way.
Anyway, I absolutely love the various Victory Tour posters the franchise and the HG fandom has made for the characters. I wanted my HG AU to focus on that.
