It was around 10pm that night. I sat alone in my room in tears. What to do, where to go? That I did not know. The words in my speech were gone as I said all that I could to naught. Then in that moment it begun, from tears and fears, to words of my cares. Pages and now books. this is my happy place

welcome to my happy place

the sun shines down upon the water

creating a glimmering sight of happiness

the clouds enjoying the scene at its most alluring perspective

the gleaming tides full of enthusiasm

the earthy smell of sea air washing away bad days

the seagulls squawking in the presence of the view

altogether I was completely mesmerized by the tranquility

i felt so serene that all my worries and negative thoughts began to vanish through the clouds

My Poetry Fandom

Remember when there was that weird part in life when everyone walked around saying “Chipotle is my life”, well “Poetry is my life” I eat, sleep, and breathe poetry, I am a poet and I know it. Yes I admit to sitting up at odd hours of the night watching “Button Poetry” and dreaming about the day when I might be in front of crowds performing for random people doing something I truly love. I honestly cannot tell you where my love came from or when it started but what I can tell you is that when I am writing I feel as if the world just stops. Like there are no problems, no issues or troubles in life, in that very moment everything is just right. I love to attend poetry events and see other people perfecting their craft and ultimately helping others along the way. My junior year I had the privilege of hearing a poet. that is now one of my favorites, perform at an event. Seeing him and the way he flowed made me realize that poetry isn’t just something we poets do for fun, it is our life.

THE CANE The elderly man opened His eyes From a restive sleep His body Hostile His sciatica Stabbed him into alert As everything else remained at peace Blood gushed from His heart At the sudden interruption of tranquility His head Throb even more His headache Did not abate the whole night Even as the moon took a seat and the sun had its turn The headache was waiting for him like an obsessed lover. He attempted to ruffle the bed sheets to get up Smelling of ignominy But his sciatica made itself known again He fell back into his pillow, grimacing in paralysis His resolve Dangerous He swung the sheets off with force this time, to uncover His swollen feet The pills aren't strong enough again The last chapters of the journey with his body were exhausting, but His mind Spry with an alacrity to remember to cuss the doctor out for not listening to him that he needed a stronger dose.. He was able to push himself up on his hands To gaze over at his salvation How a few shavings of wood can bring the universe to your door, he thought That made his mind smile Now..
