MY CROWN OF LOVE Read The Poem Below By TheCritics ____ I am no soldier, the art of war I knew not. I am no warrior, the trade with death I knew not. All my years I had preached. Nothing but the 'Doves and Olives' These affairs of man Oh, when have I believed in one ever? ___ Dear, but here I am, holding swords. And waging a war alone! With armour clad and no army behind Against these many men before, I stand alone! The arrows pierce, but fail to bring me down. The swords clash, but only to break and falter. ___ I am bathed in blood, but I doubt if it's mine! The fortress looks strong But the bricks and stones can't hold you long! The jackals are waiting, and so do the vultures Oh, but they can wait longer they want For I ain't gonna fall; no, not today! ___ The path is rugged and filled with corpses! we hold on too long to the love that went wrong we tell ourselves it meant so much more than it did we hold on to the story we’ve invented around a glimpse in time thinking that letting go will mean love has lost the battle like our life will now be void of meaning we feel it’s our life’s purpose to make something last that was never meant to last I didn’t want to let you go I made my entire purpose be to become worthy of your love but I already was & you tried to show me that but I was never really there to hear what you were saying I was always too lost in my wounds projecting them onto the present moment to let any of your love in my deepest belief was that I didn’t deserve you or the life we talked about having together & so I made that believe come true by pushing you away almost acting in ways to prove I’m unloveable then dishonouring myself chasing love from those who never wanted me to stay only now years after our love ignited this journey in me do I finally see it was always about loving myself it was always about discovering my truth it was always about building myself up enough to be strong enough to stand beside another without falling into them entirely, sacrificing myself to keep them around it was always about leading my own path with or without you #poetry #poetrycommunity #poetsofinstagram #writeyourheartout #poemsonlove #poemsaboutlove #lettinggo #healingart https://www.instagram.com/p/CRHYP5YMZqo/?utm_medium=tumblr
