How to stop overeating while on your period because I have a good week but as soon as it’s my period I crave sugary sweet foods and just oily foods
this happen to me during my period. if your body is asking you to eat more, go for it, but with healthy choices and foods that help you feel good during your period.
some examples:
pineapple
nuts
carrot
fish
watermelon
eggs
banana
dark chocolate
and also tea: cinnamon, ginger, turmeric or rosemary
my favourite for these days is ginger.
and you can make something filling and nutritious with some of these foods. i would say:
toast with avocado and a fried egg or smoked salmon, add chia seeds on top for example.
a fruit salad with the aforementioned fruits.
a bowl with greek yoghurt, banana, oatmeal and dark chocolate.
you can also opt for a baked fish and a vegetable side dish.
and if you're hungry between meals, nuts and dried fruit are filling and have many benefits.
the point is not to stop eating but to learn to eat well and what your body is asking for. a nutritious meal will always fill you up and you won't need sugary or oily food.
and if you feel like eating "junk food" for a day, there is nothing wrong with that. it is positive to find a balance.
and remember to take care of yourself during your period days.
remember that i am not a specialist in this, it is what i usually eat and researched that it is good.

To everyone asking why you tag Palestine posts as feminism, let's talk about:
The 300% increase in miscarriages in Gaza
https://jezebel.com/miscarriages-in-gaza-have-increased-300-under-israeli-1851168680
Girls having to use tent scraps in place of period products
https://news.sky.com/story/women-and-girls-in-gaza-using-scraps-of-tent-material-in-place-of-period-products-13053083?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter
The NYT trying to frame female IOF playing murderers as girl power
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/19/world/middleeast/israel-gaza-women-soldiers.html
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Two of these articles are from today, the other is a couple days old.
I cannot emphasize enough how we need to keep talking about why this IS a feminist issue in so many ways -and I appreciate this -thank you for sending me this. I have spoken about this a lot on my page, and whenever anyone asks me I link them to some of the posts I have made or make direct references to these issues and more. It's definitely the tip of the iceberg, absolutely. What is happening to Palestinian people -and disproportionately Palestinian women and children is beyond horrendous. I also have yet to hear anything from all the major organizations I emailed about the lack of period care in Gaza. It's deplorable.
Here are some of the posts I made previously on this, with links to organizations that people can connect with to demand better access to period care for those who need it in Gaza, and also one of the organizations supporting right now:

92% of autistic AFAB people... But nah, it's a "female problem" so there's no point in looking into it more because AFAB bodies are just magically strange and can't be understood by medical science, and nobody cares about autistic people -- esp AFAB autistic people -- so more research into it and methods of treatment for it aren't necessary.

Thank fuck!!! I finally got sick of how bad my period pains were and asked for a prescription for something stronger than paracetamol & ibuprofen, light exercise and hot water bottles you generally get told to use. Can't wait to pick up that prescription on Friday as I'm currently laid up in bed, with my hot water bottle, after being extremely weepy all night. A cat died on tv, I cried. I thought about the wedding, I cried. Saw a video of a bird wearing little hats, I cried. Matt ordered me Thai food bc I was craving it 🥺
So needless to say I didn't manage to work out tonight which sucks. But Matt is getting up early tomorrow so I'm going to try to get up with him and do a little bit of something before work even if it's just yoga
Nothing else to report in my life lol. Had my first 1-1 meeting at work today and my manager said I'm doing well and can start working from home after the next 2 weeks in the office so by the end of March I should be fully trained and hybrid working 🥳
Hope everyone is well. I'm about to take more painkillers and try to sleep while my uterus is going utterly ape shit 🤘

I just emailed the United Nations Women's Office in Geneva, Amnesty International, Oxfam Canada, and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) about the lack of period care in Gaza. It is frustrating to see that international organizations have not set up a fund specifically to help Palestinian people who need this. Having one resource to help with this shortage, Motherbeing, is not enough for millions of people.
Period care is health care. I don't want anyone to tell me that emailing international organizations about this is either silly or not important because not having adequate access to this can cause serious health ramifications -from infections to illnesses and later reproductive health issues.
Pregnant women in Gaza are also continually suffering right now -of the thousands of women that were supposed to give birth over these past few months -they have not had safe and consistent access to care during their trimesters. I have spoken about this before -but we need to keep amplifying this issue as well.
Women's health in Gaza has been under under crisis for a while now, and we KNOW this is part of a zionist's larger agenda -to attack women and children especially because they see them as some of the greatest threats. So please do what you can -send those emails, call your representatives/MP's and demand a ceasefire. Demand more than adequate medical care -which includes period care -reach those in Gaza who need it.
Original post where Hind Khoudary is reporting:
To say I'm bitter-sweetly fortunate my TL has been full of feminists talking about Palestine -while at the same time I have seen a plethora publicly turn away, ignore, or remain silent on it because of money or greed or worry about their social or financial capital (celebrities and 'influencers' -we know who you are) -I'm just embarrassed for them.
When I first started my journey into feminism as a first year well over a decade ago (and as someone who used to be ignorant about so many things until I started my process of learning/unlearning/educating myself) -I am resoundingly grateful for that beginning. Being able dig into intersectional theory, listening to activists from all around the world about their struggles, passions, and efforts to liberation -and I still continue to do so.
Reading about the importance of decolonization in tandem with dismantling the heteropatriarchal capitalist machine -I always know the importance of solidarity and ally ship as a result of years of study -because the power IS with the people -and our voices do matter -the system, time and again, wants you to believe you don't. And for those feminists who aren't using their platforms or voices to encourage and demand a ceasefire -or any and all ends of systemic oppression -you have blood on your hands. Feminist and women's movements aren't meant to be something you cherry pick.
So do the bare minimum, or don't call yourselves feminists.
I also don't have a 'template' per-say, since I just wrote them out individually and edited them, but if anyone wants to me post something generic so they can make their own to send to these organizations please let me know.

Current mood...
🩸 Did you know severe stress can delay your period? When you're feeling really stressed or anxious, your body might delay your period as sort of a "I can't deal with this right now" response. However this sometimes backfires as anyone who menstruates knows, a late period can cause more alarm and stress!
🩸 An occasional late period is normal, but if your period is more than a week late it might be time to take a pregnancy test.
🩸 If you frequently have late or irregular periods, please see a medical professional

Not to imply the real life effects of executive dysfunction and disability, but for folks who get their period and use pads!!
Idk if there are other brands similar to this one, but I've found that the herbal honey pot pads have been very helpful in motivation to change pads in a more timely manner. I associate the minty cool feeling with cleanliness and and it's also a physical sensation that isn't Discomfort comes with changing, so it feels Fresh and like I've Done Something Good For Myself :)
