Okay so you’ve done things with Child of Persephone reader and Nico and I loved those.
But I have an idea. Percy Jackson and daughter of Amphitrite. He has a step-sister now too lol. Could you platonic headcanons about their sibling dynamic?
Have a good day/night/evening!
⋆⭒˚.⋆ platonic! percy jackson x daughter of amphitrite! reader hcs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
content: platonic! percy jackson x daughter of amphitrite! reader hcs warning: none i do not believe author's note: step siblings rise up frfr. platonic is so fun but also...tbh ran out of ideas lmao- I THINK ITS SHORT AND SWEET OKAY LEAVE ME ALONE-
you two were aware of each others presence but...didn't talk to start with
it was a tad bit awkward
you guys were relatively close in age, you were only a few months younger than percy
which could only mean that amphitrite found out about poseidon's infidelity and pulled an uno reverse card
i mean, you guys exchanged the brief conversation every now and then
"hey, do you think you could...ya know...tell your pegasus to stop trying to kill me?"
"sorry, he's, uh, hes not a big fan of your moms. oh, and could you tell the dolphins to stop knocking me off my surfboard...please?"
"sorry, they're not a big fan of your dad either."
obvi you both wanted to be closer, a shared yearning for the ocean that you felt like no one else would understand but it was just two awkward
until spring break, a year or so into you guys know each other
percy had been invited to spend his spring break with his dad and tyson at the palace and you'd gotten the same invitation from your mom
neither of you were aware the other had been invited until you showed, staring awkwardly at each other.
"oh, hey, jackson."
"sup, ln."
cue whistling to break the silence until your parents walk in, both of you heaving sighs of relief
but everything change the first night in poseidon and amphitrite's domain
percy had already changed into his fish pajamas, a sleep mask he'd stolen from annabeth nestled into his hair and about to be pulled over his eyes when there was a rapid knocking on his bedroom door
he frowned but spung it open to reveal you, buzzing excitement
"what's up-"
"come on! come on!" you cheered, cutting him off, grabbing his arm and dragging him as you raced off to gods know where
he really had no choice but to follow, but a smile slowly grew on his face as you dragged him to some large window
tons of fish were swimming around, schools and schools of brightly colored fish darting in and out of the coral and seaweed
large sharks loomed a bit higher up, but they were relatively docile, some even bumping against the glass like they wanted pets and bellyrubs
"look!" you all but screamed, pointing up and forcing percy to follow to where a huge whale shark was floating by
it locked eyes with the children of the sea and tilted it's massive fin in what could only be considered a wave
you squealed in excitement before plopping down, criss cross, to continue to watch the marine life
"i just thought you'd want to see it. you can go to bed if you'd like," you told percy, glancing up with him, nervousness creeping into your features as you realized what you've just done
"and miss the show? i don't think so," percy eased, waving his hand in dismissal as he sat down next to you
you two shared a small smile and nod, an understand of each other before turning your eyes back to the sea creatures
poseidon and amphitrite found their children the next morning slumped together before the window, drooling and snoring all over each other
from that point on, you and percy were a recipe for trouble
and then add tyson and it's a real mess
they have crazy ideas and tyson's just like 'i could build that'
and then they do
the most extravagant pranks, always signed with a doodle of a shark and a dolphin so people know who did it
like banksy but with pranks lmao
you both watch moana, religiously
once forced poseidon and amphitrite to watch it too, but with the added effects of you and percy doing the dances and singing the songs terribly off pitch
percy is moana and you are maui, always
you feel awkward the first time percy brings you home to his mom, proudly presenting you like you were a cat he found in a dumpster three blocks over
you're worried sally won't be your biggest fan bc of your mom but girl doesn't even care, pulling you into a tight hug and offering you cookies
and sometimes, following some epic prank on jason, you both just go and sit on the beach together
no words need to be shared, the water lapping at your toes more than enough comfort
"i can't believe at one point we weren't close," you'd mutter, youre words nearly lost in the sounds of the surf.
"seriously. now you're stuck with me for life," percy laughed, bumping his shoulder with yours
"brother from another mother or whatever," you giggled and percy rolled his eyes
"sister from another mister or something like that," percy tacked on, which just fueled the both of your laughs
the best of step siblings, even if they were a little awkward in the beginning

Inner Sense
Summary: It was always obvious that Rafe hadn’t had the best childhood, even with all of their fortune, his parents hadn’t exactly given him the best idea of a family. But when he starts dating you, you practically make it your mission to heal every part of his inner child.
Warnings: Discussions of toxic/emotionally abusive home life,
Author’s Note: This idea came to me on my walk home and I hadddd to write it asap so I hope you enjoy <3
Tumblr media
“Hellooooo??” A familiar voice calls out as the front door closes.
“We’re in here!” You call back from the kitchen, setting down the paint brush in your hand, “We’ve got a visitor, Izzy!”
The little girl next to you frowns a little with her wide brown eyes, blinking at you, “Who is it?”
“Hey darling,” Rafe smiles as he comes into the kitchen, a bunch of paper-wrapped tulips in his hand, “These are for you!”
You beam at the flowers and take them from him, standing up from your chair at the kitchen island to give him a hug, “You didn’t have to get me flowers!”
“Of course,” Rafe kisses your cheek, moving his hand to pull one of the pink flowers from the bundle, “And I didn’t forget about you either, Izzy.”
The little girl grins and takes the flower from him, grinning down at it.
“What do you say to Rafe?”
“Thank you,” She offers him her brightest expression before turning back to the painting in front of her.
“Her parents will be back in ten, we can go straight after,” You explain, sitting back down in your seat next to the girl, who you’d been babysitting since she was one.
“No rush,” Rafe responds, coming behind you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders, “What have you two been doing today?”
“Well,” You look at Izzy and smile, “We’ve been playing Barbies a lot and then we watched Moana, we made pasta for lunch, and now we’re doing some paint by numbers. I think Izzy’s looks better than mine though.”
At least she was getting a little better at staying in the lines.
“Wow, you’ve had a busy day,” Rafe nods, “I don’t think I’ve ever done one of these,” He gestures down to your painting.
“Are you serious? You never did one when you were younger?” You turn around against his arm to look up at him, “Never?”
He shakes his head nonchalantly, “Have you met Ward and Rose? They were hardly the family life kind of parents.”
You frown a little but the thought doesn’t seem to linger in Rafe’s mind for too long as he’s already distracted talking to Izzy about her painting, pointing out one of the flowers she’d coloured in rainbow colours. You seem to stay thinking about it for a moment longer, and even after you leave that day, you can’t seem to get the idea out of your head.
~~~
“Hello honey, I didn’t know if you’d be back today!” Your Mom grins as you come into the front door, Rafe following behind you, “And Rafe! It’s good to see you, darling.”
“Good to see you too Mrs (Y/L/N),” Rafe smiles, your bag over his shoulder and the tulips in his other hand.
“Yeah, we’ve got half an hour before we need to go so I figured we’d come back to drop my stuff off,” You explain, kissing her on the cheek, “And I realised I don’t have enough of my makeup at Rafe’s house so I need to pick a few bits up.”
“I’ve left some things in a bag on your bed sweetheart, just stuff I thought you might need.”
“Thanks Mom,” You beam, taking the flowers from Rafe to go and find a vase for them.
“So what exactly is it you’re going to tonight?” She asks, glancing between you and your boyfriend.
“Just this business dinner with my father,” Rafe explains, a slight roll in his eyes, “They told him they were bringing their daughter and her boyfriend with them so he asked if I’d come and bring (Y/N) with me. Thankfully, your daughter doesn’t mind me dragging her along to these things,” He jokes.
“Well I’m sad you won’t be here for games night, I was just making sure we had all the pieces for Monopoly,” Your Mom shakes her head, “Obviously apart from the piece your brother managed to lose ten years ago.”
You nod, “Maybe we can convince the Cameron’s to play some Monopoly with us, what do you reckon Rafe?”
He scoffs at you as you walk back over to him, vase in your hand that he soon takes from you, wrapping an arm around your waist, “I don’t think I’ve ever played a board game with my family, so I don’t think that will be changing any time soon.”
The words leave the same weight on your chest once again, like a little mass had just dropped down forcing your heart closer to your stomach. You knew Rafe didn’t have the best relationship with his family, and Ward and Rose hadn’t formed the closest family with him and his siblings, but it made your heart ache when you heard him talk about it - like he had missed out on so much of the silly things that had shaped your childhood. And you still couldn’t stop thinking about it.
~~~
The business meal is as much of a success as it can be. You laugh when you need to, talk about your future when they ask, pretend to be interested in even the most boring topics, and squeeze Rafe’s hand every time someone says something that makes you desperate to roll your eyes.
You’d both waited until the guests had left and then finally left as quickly as you could to come up to Rafe’s room - thankful to be away from the forced smiles and overly polite remarks.
“Remind me why we do these things,” Rafe grumbles, closing the bedroom door behind him as his fingers try to undo the top button of his shirt .
“Because it keeps your father happy, and it’ll be your business too some day,” You remind him, tugging off your heels and sighing in relief at the release of not having them on anymore.
“I don’t know if it’s worth all of this,” He scoffs, kicking off his shoes now that his shirt is open down the length of his torso.
“Maybe we just run away and forget it all,” You raise your eyebrows, walking over to him and wrapping your arms around his neck.
He hums in agreement, his hands settling around your waist, “Hmm tell me more.”
You giggle and start to fiddle with the short hairs at the back of his neck, “Well, we could get ourselves a little boat to live on, like the one in Mamma Mia, and we could get off the island, just us two.”
“No business dinners?”
“Never.”
“Just us two?”
“Always.”
Rafe hums and dips his head down to your neck, kissing fluttered spots along the skin, “I couldn’t think of anything better.”
You move your hands down to run down his chest, “But until then, we’re here.”
He groans once again, pulling his head away from you, “Don’t remind me.”
You part ways as he disappears into the bathroom and you change into one of his tops to wear to bed, when he comes out of the bathroom, you go in to take your makeup off and get ready for bed - he’s laid out your cleanser and cotton pads, and he’s put toothpaste on your toothbrush already. It was the little things.
You’re just finishing up with your skincare when you decide that you can’t hold the thought in for any longer, turning around to the door of the en-suite where you lean against the edge.
“Rafe I have a question.”
He looks up from his phone and sets it down on the bedside table, “What is it, darling?”
It’s dark in the bedroom, and his face is only lit by the light of the dim lamp beside him, casting shadows over his features.
“What you said earlier, about your parents… and the painting thing, and the board games… is that true?”
He lets out a light laugh, “What do you mean?”
“Did you seriously never do that with your parents?”
Rafe looks a little taken aback but he doesn’t think to question it anymore, knowing your thoughts always seemed to have a root that he’d find eventually, “Well, no. I mean, you know what my Dad and Rose are like - my Dad’s not thinking of anything unless it’s business, and Rose was never exactly a devoted stepmom.”
“So you didn’t do anything?” You frown, feeling the tightness in your chest once again as if you could cry at the thought.
“Well, we did stuff. But it was more like fancy holidays where we’d be sent to the kids club, and I spent a lot of time doing my own thing.”
Your bottom lip quivers and you’re not sure why it’s made you so emotional but there’s no holding it in now.
“(Y/N)?” Rafe frowns, scrambling to stand up from the bed and hurry over to you, “What’s the matter?”
“I know it’s silly, I just hate the thought of you not having stuff like that,” You breathe out, trying to stop the tears from spilling over your eyes.
Rafe holds both of your forearms in his hands, rubbing his thumb over your skin as his eyes move to find your gaze, “Hey, come on, you don’t need to worry about me. I turned out okay didn’t I?”
You laugh a little and let your breaths even out to match his, “You should’ve had everything like that when you were little, it’s what being a child is all about.”
Rafe nods like he’s agreeing with you, his hands moving down to link with yours, “Maybe, but it’s in the past now. And I’ve got everything I need, right here.”
He pulls you into his chest and wraps his hand around your head to hold you close to him, one hand running up and down your back.
His hold seems to relax the pain in your chest, but it doesn’t disappear all the way, still floating in the absence of space between you. And when he pulls away and his eyes find yours, you seem to find a sadness in them that you’d never noticed so clearly before.
~~~
The next day, Rafe is out with Topper and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t make full use of the day without him. After a couple of trips to the shop, you’re back at your house practically taking over every inch of the space with the buzzing of your ideas. Your parents were out for the rest of the day, staying at your auntie’s, and so you text Rafe telling him to come over as soon as he’s free.
There’s a knock at the door only half an hour later.
“You know you sound really suspicious on texts when you-“ Rafe starts as you open the door, stopping when he sees the expression on your face, “What’s going on? What have you done?”
“Why do you think I’ve done something?” You mock offence, placing a hand to your chest.
“Because you have that look in your eyes,” He waves a finger at your face, “What’s happened?”
“Well, I’ve planned our date night for this week,” You explain, “No protests.”
He raises his hands up as if in defeat, “No protests.”
His growing hair is covered by an old baseball cap, and it seems to make him look younger when you see him, like a brighter more innocent version of himself.
“Okay, you can come in now.”
Rafe laughs and steps through the front door, leaning down quickly to place a kiss to your lips.
“Right, we’re making cupcakes in the kitchen, but with one of those shitty box mixes you add the water too. We’ve got paintings to do, and we’ve got every childhood snack I could find at the store, and then we’re going to make a blanket fort and play board games and eat our shitty cupcakes.”
“You’re kidding?” Rafe laughs, “You did all of this?”
“I know it might not matter to you, I get that, but I hate the thought of you missing out on all the stuff that I loved about my childhood,” You shake your head, “I just can’t stop thinking that-“
Rafe silences you with a quick kiss, his lips lingering above yours, “You’re incredible.”
“You like it?!” You beam, your heart fluttering with a little sense of relief.
“Of course,” Rafe smiles, “So, what’s first?”
The two of you spend all afternoon attempting the little activities you’d set up. Rafe mixes the cake mixture for what feels like forever and there are still little lumps through it, and you make too much icing so it ends up spilling over the edges, only redeeming the decoration a little when you put the little Cars themed stickers on top of each one. You both attempt to colour in your paintings, yours of a unicorn and his of a race car. He manages to flick paint onto yours at some point and you fight back and end up with both of you having little patches of the wrong paint. By the end, both of them somewhat resemble what you’d set up to have - and Rafe signs his with your two initials in a little heart. Eventually, you carry in bowls of snacks, and cans of drinks, and a plate of your homemade cupcakes. You both fumble and fail over making a blanket fort until it somewhat resembles a decent structure between your two couches, pillows and more blankets underneath the white sheet over the two of you.
“Well, darling, I’d say you’ve planned a pretty successful date day here,” Rafe comments, shifting to get comfortable on the blanket next to you.
“Yeah? You think so?” You grin, leaning back on your elbows, “What’s your first experience of a blanket fort like?”
“Well, I think I might be a little too tall for them, but I think we’ve made a pretty good fort here,” He looks around at your work, “Maybe we could live here instead of disappearing off the island.”
You hum in response, “We might get sick of each other stuck in here.”
Rafe narrows his eyes at you and reaches across the small space between the two of you to wrap an arm underneath you, pulling you into him, turning you so that you were facing him as you lay on his chest, “What do you mean? You think you’d get sick of me (Y/N)?”
You pause as if you need any time to ponder the thought, “Are you kidding? Never.”
“Then it’s settled,” He assures you, “We are staying here. We have enough food to last us anyway.”
You lean down to kiss along the length of his jaw and he lowers his hold on your waist, hands slipping to grip your hips.
“You really didn’t have to do all of this,” Rafe assures you, leaning into your kiss.
You pull away from him and bring your hands up to his hair, running your fingers through either side of it and cupping your hands around his face, “Do you ever think about when we’ll have kids? And we’ll be watching them grow up?”
He nods ever so slightly.
“Well, when we do, I want to give all of this to them. All of the little things, the things they’ll remember. And I would hate you thinking that you were giving them what you couldn’t have,” You shrug your shoulders, thumbs rubbing over his cheekbones, “Your parents weren’t the best family for you, but that doesn’t mean that we cant be the best family for our own kids.”
Rafe grins brightly, tilting his head to kiss your palm, “Our kids. I like the sound of that.”
~~~
The following morning, you wake up, still under the shelter of the fort you’d made yesterday - clearly you and Rafe had ended up too tired to get to bed. This morning, however, he’s not laying beside you, and your skin seems to cool without his touch. You stretch and blink the sleep out of your eyes, shuffling yourself out to try to find him.
“Rafe?” You call out, stretching the tension out of your muscles from the odd position you’d been sleeping in.
“I’m out here!” He calls back and you follow his voice to lead you outside, where you find him stood leaning over the decking overlooking your garden.
It’s sunny in the morning air and his baseball cap covers his morning hair, his t-shirt wrinkled over his back.
“What are you doing out here so early?” You frown, squinting against the brightness, “It’s so early,” You groan, dipping underneath his arm to stand in front of his chest, snuggling back into him.
Rafe chuckles and wraps his arms around you, one of his hands lacing with your fingers over the back of your hand, “It is early isn’t it?”
You hum and lean your head back into his chest, “What are we looking at?”
“Well, I was thinking, your parents always joke about us having this house when they retire,” He explains, “And I was thinking we could put a tree house in up here,” He guides your interlocked hands up towards the direction of a few dense trees in the forest, “And then we could fix up the dock a little bit and get one of those family kayaks, and I could put in a little shelter here to keep the kids’ bikes under when it rains.”
You smile tiredly, “You thought about all of this?”
Rafe moves his hands down to your waist and pulls to turn you around to face him, “I thought about what you said. And I don’t want what happened with my family to ruin what could be for ours. So, I want to do it all. All of the little things, like you said.”
There’s a brightness in his eyes that you’re sure seems lighter than before, like a small part of him had healed in the last twenty four hours, a certainty that more of him could heal too.

𝗔 𝗪𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗧 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗘𝗦
Okay, so as I was talking to Evie about the other day, I was going through one of my old notebooks and found a whole extended universe of Descendants OCs I had planned from middle school. I obviously don’t plan on formally introducing or doing anything with all of these OCs, because there is a lot of them, but I still thought it would be fun to share them with you guys! They’re not all in their original versions from my notebook, because a few of them did require a little changing and revamping, but I still hope you guys enjoy these little ideas from twelve-year-old me’s brain.
Soha Pride, daughter of Simba and Nala, Carlos ship. Able to attend Auradon Prep thanks to a spell from Fairy Godmother that allows her entire family to shift between their lion and human forms. Very dedicated to her duties as a princess of Pride Rock, but sometimes feels overshadowed by her older sister Kiara because she’s the oldest and the heir. Doesn’t believe any of the stuff Audrey and Chad say about the VKs and makes it her mission to be friends with them. Formerly a Jay ship. I am going to be introducing her formally in a little bit, so look out for that!
Tumblr media
Josie Sparrow, daughter of Jack Sparrow, Evie ship. Auradon kid because it could never be decided whether Jack was a villain or not, and now he sails all around the seas surrounding Auradon and the different kingdoms. Has the ability to visit the Isle in her dreams, and it’s later revealed that that’s because her mother is Calypso. A huge troublemaker and prankster who’s constantly in trouble with Fairy Godmother, and becomes quick besties with Mal because of it when the VKs first come to Auradon.
Tumblr media
Jackson Kelly-Jacobs, son of Jack Kelly and David Jacobs, OC ship. Son of Jack and Davey because I am a Javid shipper for life. A dancer and gymnast who’s on the R.O.A.R. team, and used to be friends with Chad before he turned into a bully. Really flirty and charming like his dad Jack, but still a total sweetheart. He and Evie quickly develop a WLW/MLM friendship when the VKs come to Auradon, and he definitely punches Chad during the Family Day thing.
Tumblr media
Steven Smee, son of Mr. Smee, OC ship (Jackson’s boyfriend). Comes to Auradon with the VKs even though he’s not friends with them after Ben lets his dad persuade him to invite the child of a sidekick along with the children of villains so the people of Auradon are a bit “more receptive”. A complete shy sweetheart who loves his dad and brothers and misses them terribly when he leaves (because Smee is actually a really good dad) and is the reason the twins get to come to Auradon in the third movie. Kind of sensitive because he got bullied a lot as a kid on the Isle, but still has an inner strength that not a lot of people expect.
Tumblr media
Maile Montunui, daughter of Moana, Uma ship. President and pretty much only member of the Auradon Prep Sailing Club, which the Sea Three join after they come to Auradon in the alternate post-second movie story that I had in my head. Incredibly courageous and not afraid to speak her mind, but sometimes gets herself into trouble from being too confident. Frequently curses and insults people in Samoan. Bisexual disaster who falls in love with Uma instantly, even if it takes Uma a while to feel the same about her.
Tumblr media
Haven Hearts, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, Harry ship. Member of the VKs who had a sort of Romeo and Juliet romance going on with Harry, but has to break it off when they leave to go to Auradon. She wants desperately to be good and break away from her mother’s reputation, and dedicates herself to being better once the VKs choose good at the coronation, which causes some tension between her and Harry when they meet again in the second movie. In the alternate post-second movie story after the Sea Three come to Auradon, though, they reconcile and get back together. She’s fierce and sarcastic by nature but not mean, and she shares Mal’s love for graffiti.
Tumblr media
Cierra Chernabog, daughter of Chernabog, Ben ship. Outcast even on the Isle because her father is a demon, doesn’t come to Auradon until after the second movie because so many people were against bringing Chernabog’s kid to Auradon the first time. Super shy and doesn’t talk a whole lot, but incredibly smart and loving. Has a demon form that she isn’t able to access until leaving the Isle, but it’s big and terrifying and still kind of cool.
Tumblr media
Celeste Frollo, daughter of Judge Frollo, Audrey ship. Claudette’s twin sister, very religious and God-fearing due to her father’s teaching, so she has a lot of Catholic guilt over liking girls (picture, like, Carrie White with no telekinesis and if she was a lesbian). Gets to go to Auradon after the second movie, when Audrey’s slowly starting to reform herself and be more accepting of villain kids (we’re pretending the third movie doesn’t happen, I guess), and at the same time my girl slowly starts to overcome her guilt and they fall in love!
Tumblr media
And there are even more, but I’m gonna stop there (😅). Hope you guys enjoyed this little look into my crazy little middle schooler brain!!
Tagging some of the Descendants moots: @ginger-grimm, @dancingsunflowers-ocs, @ginevrastilinski-ocs, @auxiliarydetective, and soft tagging @manyfandomocs!!

Extended Legacy Disney Princess Challenge
Sul sul!
The original Disney Princess challenge is all fine and dandy, but I found it lacking when compared to challenges such as the Not So Berry Challenge. I did some research to see if I could figure out why, watched a ton of simmers play the challenge, and I came to the conclusion that it's just a little too open-ended. Not So Berry is beautifully structured without railroading simmers which keeps it entertaining and fun throughout all 10 generations. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and now I present to you my version of the Disney Princess challenge... which I am affectionately calling the Extended Legacy Revised Disney Princess Challenge.
Please do NOT claim this revision as your own. I worked really hard on this and would like to be credited appropriately for it. Also, linking to the original creator of the challenge if you DO share this would be the right thing to do.
NOTE: This challenge has not been playtested as of the time of this posting. I'm hoping to begin a new series on my Youtube channel starting in early-to-mid April that will go over the challenge and will allow me to make tweaks as needed since I think I might have gone a little bit overboard! Also, if you don't have certain packs, feel free to fudge it a little.
Link to original Disney Princess Challenge: https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/784536/the-disney-princess-10-gen-challenge
Generation 1: Raya
"The world's broken. You can't trust anyone."
You grew up in a divided world, with conflict all around you. You have always believed in the magic of the world and in others until your trust was broken as a child. You must begin this challenge as a child (create both parents).
Traits: Gloomy, Good, Goofball
Aspiration: Neighborhood Confidante
Career: Politician
- Must have a best friend as a child that becomes an enemy when you become a teen, then rekindle that relationship as an adult.
- Must be good friends with a child, elder, young adult, and adult at the same time.
- Make it to the top of Mt Komorebi and have lived in at least three different worlds throughout your lifetime.
- Complete the Neighborhood Confidante aspiration.
- Reach level 10 in the Charisma and Mountain Climbing skills.
- Master the Politician career.
- Have at least one child.
Generation 2: Moana
"One day I’ll know how far I’ll go."
You grew up as the heir to a legacy; however, you want to explore and see the world. You know your choices make you who you are and you hope that one day they will show you the world and all it has to offer.
Traits: Child of the Islands, Child of the Ocean, Loves Outdoors
Aspiration: Outdoor Enthusiast
Career: Conservationist
- Must have a close relationship with your Grandmother who dies before you become a young adult. Be friends with her ghost.
- Must own at least one chicken and own a boat.
- Must become good friends with the Sulani island spirits.
- Master the conservationist career and choose the career path “Master of the Sea” (marine biologist branch).
- Visit or move to Selvadorada as a young adult and explore the hidden temple.
- Must move back to Sulani as an adult.
- Complete the Outdoor Enthusiast aspiration.
- Reach level 10 in the Fitness skill.
- Have two children (twins may make the next gen easier).
- Live the rest of your elder life in Sulani.
Generation 3: Anna
"We used to be best friends, but now we’re not."
Living on an island prevented you from getting much exposure to the outside world. Your sister was your best and only friend, but after an unfortunate accident, she became quiet and hid herself away. All you wanted was to be with her, but she never let you in.
Traits: Cheerful, Goofball, Childish
Aspiration: Soulmate
Career: Your Choice
- Must live in only one location your entire life (wherever you choose to live after becoming a young adult and moving out).
- Must have both parents die early.
- Must be best friends with your sister as a toddler and child, but lose that friendship with her just before you become a teen until you become an adult.
- Must have no friends except for your lovers and your sister until after you reunite with her as an adult.
- Complete the Soulmate aspiration.
- Reach level 10 in the Charisma skill and level 5 in the Rock Climbing skill.
- Must have one failed relationship before getting married to your one true love.
- Must have four children, the oldest one being much older than the other three
Generation 4: Merida
"If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?"
Your mom sure had her hands full with the four of you. She expected you to be the leader of the pack, but all you wanted to do was find your own way. You never seem to be able to do anything right in her eyes. Because of this you rebel as a teen and run away from home to seek a better life.
Traits: Unflirty, Hot Headed, Mean
Aspiration: Athletic
Career: Athlete
- Must run away as a teen and live with an elderly lady who takes you in.

You’re not very close to her because she worked so much, but when the restaurant starts going under due to fake bad reviews and things beyond your family’s control, you decide to take matters into your own hands and catch the people responsible for destroying your mother’s dream.

That is, until you met someone from an entirely different world than you. Now your life has turned completely upside-down and the adventures you find yourself on are out of this world.

You come from a long line of rich, famous people, but you never understood it. You appreciate the comforts and privileges you have, but you hate the duties that come with it. Your family never had much while you were growing up, so you had to find free ways to spend your time. You always loved books and visited the library so often that it felt like your true home. Knowledge is what you crave, not romance. On a vacation to a strange new place, you find yourself trapped in your worst nightmare: in the clutches of a horrible monster looking for love.

Generation 11: Ariel
"Someday I’ll be part of your world."
Your family strived to fit in with humanity, but you never saw anything wrong with being different. Maybe it’s your father’s ties to the moon that led you to fall in love with the ocean, or maybe you hear a call from the distant past. Either way, you love collecting all things related to the water and one day you find something that changes your life forever.
Traits: Loves Outdoors, Child of the Ocean, Active
Aspiration: The Curator
Career: Conservationist
- Complete at least 5 of the following collections in your lifetime: MySims Trophies, Metals, Crystals, Elements, Fossils, Frogs, Fish, Feathers, Seashells, Buried Treasure, Message in a Bottle.

Author notes: It’s just reverse little mermaid lol.
Generation 12: Aurora
"I walked with you once upon a dream."
You never really cared for getting up at 6am to comb the beaches for seashells. You’d rather just stay inside, sit around, and lazily flip through a book or maybe just sleep forever. Ah… sleep. Doesn’t that sound nice? Your mom is a fish and your dad is just some pretty boy that lives on a secluded island, so you’re not exactly the most motivated person in the world. Your looks are about all you’ve got going for you. Your primary motivation is avoiding the sun and getting some zzz’s.
Traits: Lazy, Slob, Clumsy

- Reach level 10 in the Pipe Organ, Violin, and Piano skills. Reach level 5 in the Dancing skill.
- Once all you know and love is gone, re-awaken.
- Have twins, then a third child (you may cheat for the twins).
- Must have a good relationship with your two oldest children, but once your youngest baby becomes a child, hibernate in your coffin for the rest of your existence.
Generation 13: Cinderella
"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep."
You spent a lot of time trapped indoors, peeking behind the perpetually-drawn curtains trying to absorb any amount of sunlight. You don’t have a good relationship with your older siblings, so you spend your lonely days cleaning the mansion and talking to your forest friends to make the time go by. One night you can’t stand the loneliness anymore, so you dress up and run off into the night looking for friends, love, and adventure.
Traits: Neat, Romantic, Dance Machine
Aspiration: Party Animal
Career: Your Choice
- Must have no human friends until you run away as a young adult.
- Must not leave the lot until you run away during the “Pumpkin Ball” festival.
- Place a “Wild Rabbit Home” and “Flock of Wild Birds” on the lot (found in build mode. You may cheat for this) and befriend the rabbits and birds.
- Must have a poor relationship with your older siblings and parents (you can give the older siblings negative traits such as mean, mischievous, etc to help with this).
- Must cook every meal that you eat, but you can only cook family sized meals and you can only eat the leftovers.
- On your young adult birthday, create a new holiday called the “Pumpkin Ball” and add the activities “Countdown to Midnight”, “Wear Costumes”, “Party Spirit”, “Romantic Spirit”, and “Spooky Spirit” (for the pumpkin carving) and set the decoration theme to either “Spooky” or “New Year’s Eve”.
- Dress up and run away once the holiday is active and visit a popular venue. Find and romance a sim with the “Romantic” trait.
- Once the holiday has ended, return home and get in a fight with your sisters and become enemies with them.
- Elope with the sim that you met and move to Granite Falls.
- Reach level 10 in the Singing and Dancing skills.
- If something becomes dirty while you are on the lot you must clean it.
- Have at least one child.
Generation 14: Snow White
"Come on, perk up! Won’t you smile for me?"
You spent all of your childhood roaming the woods, collecting herbs and helping your mother in the garden. You didn’t have a care in the world and you loved your parents dearly. You wish you could spend all your time at home outside exploring the woods, but your mother insisted you get a good education. Things aren’t going so well at school because the most popular girl bullies you relentlessly. You never understood why, until you overhear her boyfriend saying that you’re prettier than her! You decide to run away so that you don’t cause any more problems, but it breaks your heart to leave your parents.
Traits: Loves Outdoors, Vegetarian, Cheerful
Aspiration: Freelance Botanist
Career: Self-Employed - Sell your vegetables and canned goods.
- Must have a close relationship with your parents.
- Must make enemies with a girl at school and get in a fight with her.
- Must run away as a teen and move to Henford-On-Bagley and help out the locals as much as possible.
- Must have seven friends in total (not including your parents) in your lifetime.
- Must have a garden and be friends with at least one of each of the local wildlife (birds, rabbits, foxes).
- Must grow an apple tree but never eat any of the apples.
- When you become a young adult, reunite with the popular girl’s old boyfriend and spark a romance.
- Add the boyfriend to your family, then die from poison (you may cheat for this).
- As the boyfriend, plead with Death for Snow White’s life and resurrect her (you may also cheat for this if the boyfriend is unsuccessful).
- Elope immediately after being resurrected, then have 5 children. Become pregnant, then either kill your husband or have him leave you. The last pregnancy must be twins (you may cheat for this. You must have seven children in total with the same dad).
- Each child must have one of the following traits: Gloomy, Glutton, Mean, Unflirty, Lazy, Slob, or Evil
- Each child must reach level 3 in all toddler skills before aging up.
- Each child must have all A's in school before aging up into a young adult (a la 100 Baby Challenge)
- Each child must age up with at least three positive character values.
- Reach level 10 in the Parenting, Gardening, and Herbalism skills.
- Must live on a lot with the “Off-The-Grid” trait.
Author notes: Congratulations! You’ve completed the Extended Legacy Revised Disney Princess Challenge! I hope you enjoyed this challenge and feel free to message me @krisiplays on Instagram or here on Tumblr to give me any feedback. I haven’t fully playtested this challenge so I'm sure there are plenty of issues with it, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

giving disney princesses godly parents 'cause i'm bored
RAPUNZEL: I feel like Apollo is probably the most obvious option. She has a talent for singing and is incredibly creative: she sews her own outfits, makes candles and paints every blank space on her walls with colourful depictions of the things she sees and dreams of. Not even mentioning the healing powers. With the ungodly amount of time she had trapped in that tower, I'm gonna guess (using all the scenes of her completing her MANY hobbies) that she has a lot of knowledge of the most random shit. Also, the whole single drop of sunlight thing. I suppose you could also argue Asclepius as her parent, since she did manage to bring Eugene back to life but I'm gonna stick with Apollo.
MERIDA: So, not a godly parent but I'm counting it.. She'd be a Hunter of Artemis. The events of the entire movie are ripples caused by the rock that is Merida's refusal to get married (she's so aromantic, I love her). She'd much preferred to spend her time out in nature, shooting her arrows and doing everything that isn't expected of her as a princess. Again, I think it's pretty easy to place her.
MULAN: Okay, so my first thought was Ares. She's courageous and a brilliant fighter; an inexperienced woman surrounded by assumably-more-experienced men, yet she manages to be better than basically all of them. She's a victor of war. Maybe Mars, since I believe he's basically the more controlled and less brutal version of Ares? (atleast in HOO, anyway). You could also say Athena, she's strategic and seems to easily come up with strong plans mid action (the disguise herself as a man, the avalanche, the men disguise themself as women, the fan, the diy zipline. There's probably more that I've forgot). Maybe there's other obvious options but I'm lazy and sticking with my first thoughts but I'd be happy to hear other ideas.
MOANA: So, Poseidon was the first thought, for obvious reasons. She's got the whole connection with water and a longing to sail the seas that's linked towards her heritage, culture and it's history. Maybe, she's like Frank, a descendant of Poseidon with a family that's always seemed to be connected to the sea god (minus the shapeshifting powers, obviously). You could also link her to Palaemon, who I don't know much about so feel free to correct me, the protector of sailors (I believe he is a sea deity, or atleast thats what I read??). Choosing a greek deity for Moana is low-key hard cause she already has dieties (is that a word??) within her story so I'm gonna leave it at that because why not.
AURORA: So, most people's minds probably jumped to Hypnos immediately 'cause she's.. well.. sleeping beauty. Or maybe even Aphrodite 'cause, again, sleeping beauty. I can't argue against that because those are very valid ideas, though I'm more for daughter of Aphrodite than Hypnos because the whole sleep thing wasn't something she willingly wanted and was actually just tricked into doing. My mind kind of went to Pan- if thats possible- because I distinctly remember a scene with her in the woods, connecting with woodland creatures/wild (I don't know anything about this movie, help).
SNOW WHITE: Okay so I'm gonna say Aphrodite and leave it at that because I remember NOTHING about this movie other than her step-mother or someone wanted her dead for the absolutely treacherous act of being prettier.
ANNA, my beloved: Definitely not the most obvious option, but I want to go with Aphrodite again. She has an obsession with romance, she's desperate to be loved and feel love. She wants the butterflies, the pounding heart, the hand holding and the warm expanding feeling in her chest when she sees her lover. She literally tries to marry a man she just met. I also love this idea because it goes against almost every stereotype of a child of Aphrodite; she's a fighter, fierce and easily capable of defending herself; she isn't weak or helpless. She's one of the few princesses who gets the man whilst still being presented as a total badass. Furthermore, she loves so strongly in non-romantic ways too. She constantly stands at that door, trying to reconnect with a sister who suddenly refuses to talk to her. She SACRIFICES herself for that same sister.
ELSA: Boreas, he's the god of winter and ice. She has ice powers. I can't be bothered trying to think of a less obvious option but feel free to tell me about one that comes to your mind.
ARIEL: Triton. It's literally canon.
BELLE: Minerva is probably a very obvious option, if she can have kids the same way Athena did (can't remember). Belle values books and knowledge, the wisdom that comes with reading. She feels like the type of girl who would love to go to school and Minerva is supposedly the goddess of that. I'd like to be a bit less obvious and probably a lot more wrong (oh well) so I'm gonna also say one of the Muses is a possible option. Wikipedia tells me they were considered goddesses of literature, science and the arts. If I had to pick one I'd pick Erato probably, the muse of love poetry since, if my memory serves me correctly, Belle was reading a romance??
CINDERELLA: Maybe the child of Hestia? That is, if Hestia decided one day to throw away her oath of virginity or found a way to have kids without that. I'm not sure entirely why, it's just a vibe. Maybe favoured by Hera, since a marriage literally saved her from a life of abuse? I don't remember much of this movie, whoops.
I have absolutely no idea for anyone else and I give up so take what you have been given! Thanks to anyone who actually stuck with me and read through all this.

Nightmare Before Christmas in Dreamlight Valley
Hi guys. For a few weeks now, I’ve been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley on my Switch and it’s getting really good, especially with the recent update. I kind of spoiled myself with the twist in the story and I have so many ideas for my player character that I’ll do in separate posts. For this one, I would like to discuss a what-if scenario and write fanfiction in which characters that played a big part in my growing up were in the game. One movie, in particular, is Nightmare Before Christmas.
Now this idea is not totally universal and very self-indulgent. I remember watching Nightmare Before Christmas when I was between 5 and 7. I remember being awed by the movie and very scared of the Oogie Boogie scenes. It wasn’t until my teenage years that I fully embraced it and it became my permanent hyperfixation. This post would be how I would write it in my fanfiction, but if you’d like to add or make/change something for your own, be free.
I would include: Jack, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Ideas and Spoilers Under The Cut:
Jack and Sally
I still have to figure things out for them but at the top of my head, I feel like they went back to Halloween Town. Perhaps Jack wanted to help by going back to the town and coming up with new ideas and tools to combat the Forgetting. Sally followed him to help/keep an eye out for him. Due to the Forgetting, Jack has some sort of problem and it’s up to the Player and Sally to help him. From opening the Nightmare Before Christmas realm, you’d recruit Sally first and then Jack. Sally could have her own store selling fabrics and unique clothes. Both Jack and Sally live in a recreation of Jack’s house.
Zero
Like with Pua, Zero can be an animal companion you unlock once Jack becomes a villager and asks you to help him find Zero. Don’t know how I would make it different from the Moana-Pua quest, but that’s what comes to mind.
Oogie Boogie
Here’s where the self-indulgent stuff comes in. A little short backstory: not only did I get nightmares about Oogie as a child, but Oogie has played a major role in my life both on the positive and negative side. He’s somewhat of a comfort character and through him and other media, has helped me grow as a person. Whenever I added new characters or left aside past ones, Oogie has been with me from 16 years old until now. Prior to understanding the story, I wanted to write a fic in response to what happens during the Glade of Trust arc. In it, my Player, Jess, has a hard time processing the truth and what happened during the night. She tries to distract herself by spending the day with Mirabel, but the two get stuck in a new cave in the process. Jess panics, lets out her feelings about her recent experience, and, in a state of fear and regret, becomes Oogie Boogie. At first, it was supposed to just be a symbol of a person becoming a monster to handle the fear. But after learning about the Forgotten, I decided to add to it.
As a child, the player, although frightened by Oogie Boogie, tended to sometimes hang out with him when they get scared. Hey, if you can befriend Ursula, Mother Gothel, and Scar, you could befriend the Boogeyman. Anyway, when the Forgetting happens and the Player split, Oogie split in two as well due to dark magic and the Player’s magic/emotions. While the Player has regular Oogie, the Forgotten has Shadow Oogie with green eyes. After the Glade of Trust arc, Oogie is around not as a villager but as a part of the Player. Whenever the Player has a negative emotion or feels fear, they’d transform into Oogie. It’s still them, but sometimes a little moody or sarcastic. Transforming into Oogie would be necessary for side quests that will help figure out the mystery with the Forgotten. It turns out that since Oogie is split, he is not whole and thus, has no memories. Interacting with characters would reveal snipped memories of the Forgotten, most notably: Mother Gothel, Scar, and Olaf. As of this moment, I just finished saving Frozen Heights. As I find out more about the Forgotten, the list would increase. Likewise, the Forgotten can change into Shadow Oogie when extremely upset as well, but can freely do so within the Dark Castle. Once Act 1 of the Main Story is finished and the Forgotten wants to make amends with the Player and the Village, Oogie becomes whole again and he can be his own person, becoming a villager.
Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Like Jack and Sally, I still do not know what to do with these three, but at the top of my head, here’s what I came up with: imagine you’re the trick-or-treaters in a valley where you are free to express yourself and have a little fun/mischief. Suddenly, these cool thorns appear and you don’t know why everyone’s freaking out. Some people are forgetting, Jack and Sally went back to Halloween Town, and your boss suddenly disappears. You go to the Ruler demanding answers and lo and behold, they look completely different and for some strange reason, you’re compelled to hang out with them. So you do just that, following the Ruler’s orders and whatnot when suddenly you realize that something dark and magical occurred in that your boss is somehow merged with the Ruler. You and the Ruler have a fight which results in the Ruler separating you three into three different portals having no memories of the valley but vague memories of the group.
So yeah, somewhat of a Minnie or Donald situation going on.
Let me know what you think and what you’d like to add. Fics are a work in progress.

It's been like almost a full week since episode 8 came out and WOW. Just WOW.
The fight with Ares was exactly how I imagined it as a child and more. The way Percy immediately got his ass headed to him only to go full Moana perfection. Also the actor for Ares is a former WWE wrestler, so when Percy is like I wanna fight i'm like boy he will break your skull.
Alecto maybe a bitch but she's one of the cool ones and possibly in my top ten of antagonists who aren't really antagonists they just have different morals.
Did I cry when Annabeth gave Percy her necklace? Yes. They quoted the scene of her giving it to him, word for word.
Luke teaching Percy to sword fight and give him advice was so cute only to be riped to shreds at the climax, but we'll get there.
Olympus looks like something out of a video game and to be honest, I don't really like it that much because it doesn't really give me this is the land of the gods. It looks gorgeous, but not something i'd for this show. I personally prefer the one for the movie. I know sue me, but it gave more of what ancient Greece would have actually looked like. One of three things the movie did right. BUT the throne room spot on ten out of ten.
Also Zeus just chilling in his throne waiting for Percy, beautiful. The actors whole demeanor while playing Zeus is so intemanating yet ignorant. This maybe one my favorite irradiation of Zeus. But the way Poseidon protected Percy from Zeus AND surrendered to Zeus for his son, someone just one the Best godly parent of the year award. This meeting or reunion of Percy and Poseidon was too perfecto. Percy calling Poseidon dad in ANCIENT GREEK no less. Also the way how Poseidon holds him self while talking to Percy you can see the pain, fearfullness, and proudness all in the actors face. The cast in this is so good. You can also see how Poseidon just wants to scoop Percy up in a hug and protect him. Why does this show play with my heart strings.
The batrayal is prefect. With everything to Percy's realization in the way Luke looks at Annabeth when she reveals herself. This is better then using the scorpion because it adds more emotional depth and you can feel just the pain coming from Luke. Also when Percy was like we met your father and Luke just snapped. I got chills but also laughed out loud because if Lin was my father i'd have issues too.
I bawled when the trip split up at the end, all of them have grown so much. Also Annabeth going to Disney World, you know that's the photo the Percy will have in his notebook, guaranteed. Also Grover's searcher license being a flower is too adorable.
The reunion between Sally and Percy also destroyed me. It was all the emotions. As I said before this show is phenomenal and it wouldn't be anything with its cast. Where's the award for this show gods Damit.
Cronos just invading Percy's dream and Percy just going full Persassy on his dusty titan ass was perfect. Not Sally with the Dream Journal though. Also I'm probably the only one, but I forgot that Percy was Seventh grade.
The ending with Gabe becoming stone not because Sally had enough, but because of his disrespect and lack of being a decent human being was what he deserved.
In total I cried 7 times probably because I can't believe this season is over. This show is full of so much passion and you can feel it. It has some faults was piece of media adapting a popular series doesn't, but this does the books justice and it intorduces the story to a wider audience. Though a longer episode count would be much appreciated.
If this doesn't get a award I throwing hands anyways, good morrow fellow fans, hyperfixators, and all the others in between.

marauders era girls as disney princesses (+ two others)
because there is simply not enough about these girls in the fandom
narcissa black | mulan
narcissa is a survivor first and foremost and a slytherin all the way. mulan seems like a gryffindor at first glance - running away into battle and defying the role laid out for her, she seems more like sirius than narcissa - but she’s also doing this for her family, for her father, which is literally what narcissa is all about. the song honor to us all gives such narcissa vibes to me. the quiet but still fierce girl that turns into a soldier for her family.
andromeda black | jasmine
this one is more obvious. young princess sick of the world she’s stuck in falls in love with someone far below her station who teaches her about world outside the palace. andromeda and ted tonks anyone? plus jasmine is plenty sneaky and does what needs to be done.
bellatrix black | merida
bella was difficult for me to decide but i chose merida because they’re both headstrong but still care about their families. bella is the only named female death eater and pure blood daughters were expected to be trophy wives, she didn’t exactly fit the mold did she? merida refuses to be contained and i see bellatrix, especially young bella, in her.
pandora rosier | snow white
i always imagine pandora as kind of dreamy. intelligent obviously, but she’s definitely where luna got some of her personality from. she seems like someone who would be content in nature and appreciate the little things, and i feel like she would resonate with snow white.
dorcas meadowes | elsa
dorcas very much strikes me as an independent woman. she has her soft spot (marlene) like elsa does anna, but she’s not afraid to be her own person. i can also definitely see her needing to find herself like elsa does, especially when she finds herself on the opposite side of there war from her best friends.
marlene mckinnon | moana
marlene is definitely a gryffindor. she’s wild and free and does what makes her happy. i can definitely see moana’s free spirit in her and the determination to do what’s right, even when it’s not the easy thing **cough cough facing down a bunch of death eaters on her own**
lily evans | belle
i feel like this one is obvious. lily loves learning and she’s good at it. she reminds me of belle so much. girl ends up with a guy pining after her who she hates but eventually realizes that he’s not so bad once she gets to know him. like please, that’s literally jily. lilys also really headstrong and will do what she thinks is right, just like belle.
alice fortescue | tiana
alice was also a little difficult for me just because i feel like we don’t know that much about her. but she just gives me such tiana vibes. i feel like she’s definitely hardworking, i mean she becomes an amazing auror soon after graduating hogwarts. she’s kind, but won’t take anybody’s shit.
mary macdonald | anna
i feel like mary is just the kindest soul ever and will help anyone who needs it unless they give her a reason not too. she’s the friend that won’t stop reaching out to you if you’re being self destructive and trying to ice everyone out (see what i did there). her heart is huge and she sees the good in people.
+2
sirius black | ariel
classic kids rebelling against their parents and what they’ve been taught their whole life about the people who are different than them.
harry potter | anastasia
child is separated from the world they were born into when their parents meet an untimely death at the hands of enemies. when they’re older, they discover their true identity (i didn’t realize i needed a harry potter anastasia au until now).

Dude, you have no idea what a can you just opened in my brain.
Now I definitely need to know Draxum's opinion of how to train your dragon and Kung fu panda,
Man, if I had known the answer would be so much fun I wouldn't have excluded Bambi and the lion king.
I don't blame him, I adored Hercules as a child, however, after learning more about Greek mythology, I can't help but think how much they changed, especially Hades. Hollywood has a habit of portraying him as if he's the devil every chance they get even if in the myths he's one of the more decent gods. Heck, the guy is a saint compared to his brothers. Even in the Percy Jackson movie! He wasn't even a bad guy in the books! And don't get me started on Artemis fowl!
What movie or series is the hippo scene from? One of the most interesting aspects of zootopia is how the city is specially designed to accommodate each species. Which once again makes me want to know which one would be about newer movies, like Encanto, and I'm not just saying that because my country and Colombia are basically brothers and we share a lot of cultural aspects.
I feel like Bambi would strike too close to home. Considering how he lost his own mother and whatnot.
Oh man, my mom loved Hercules. She always wanted to watch that one with us. Looking at it as an adult it feels kind of like a fever dream.
And yeah, they botch the original story in pretty much every Disney movie but Hercules is one of those stories where you look at the source material and go "why did Disney think this would make a good children's movie?" (Hunchback is another one of those) Yeah, Hades is a bro. But he's a face for people to project their feelings of death onto. In ancient times, death came often and early, with most children never making it to adulthood and plagues and famine and whatnot. A no-nonsense guy who takes his job seriously was what was comforting to people then. Now we have a totally different view of death, so it makes sense that people project their fear of discomfort onto personifications of mortality.
I actually haven't seen a lot of newer Disney/Dreamworks movies. The last one I saw that wasn't a remake or sequel was probably Moana. (I watched it with my mother who, during the opening narration that calls Maui a trickster, gasped dramatically and exclaimed in a scandalized tone "he is a trickster!") Guys, I will consume media when the stars align. My ADHD is bad enough that I usually can't really sit through a whole movie, so it takes me longer than two hours to get through one.
I think it was Sing, which looking at the Wikipedia page I was probably thinking of the elephant, not a hippo. I wasn't really watching, my mom turned it on (she loves movies where everyone is different animals, and she still watches kids movies even though her kids are both adults) and I just remember a scene where a character has to duck to get through a doorway in her house and saying something about how a society with anthropomorphic elephants would have architecture to accommodate their size and wouldn't be basing everything off human sizes. (unless obviously there was a reason humans were the default, like in TMNT where mutants are fairly new and are still using human infrastructure) My mom told me to shut up. I'm the person everyone hates watching movies with, I projected that onto Draxum.
Incidentally, my mom did watch Zootopia later (with my sister; I haven't seen it) and the worldbuilding was one of the things she praised. She was incredibly impressed by how much they clearly thought out the implications of a nonhuman society, instead of just making everyone funny-shaped humans. So I think I rubbed off on her.

“Disney was so much better with the rep back then”
Girl. As much as we love Jasmine, she’s sexualized in the original movie (slave scene) and mind you she’s like a teenager, Pocahontas is disrespectful af, and even then there’s still so many racial stereotypes/caricatures so to me it’s more of a “does the creatives (NOT execs) care abt representation or not so are they being mindful abt depicting minorities” thing for the most part so don’t even dare to weaponize Tiana, Mulan, Moana, etc. And I don’t trust ppl who say “well make new original characters” bc they’ll then say it’s woke mess once they gave you that
I wanna make this point clear before people start saying “boohoo you’re bashing old movies just to praise newer ones”: media are COMPLEX. You can find a movie to be problematic, even if it’s a classic or a movie everybody loves, and still enjoy it. That’s the case with some of the older disney movies. I absolutely love peter pan 1953, it’s a great animation masterpiece imo, but I still have to recognize there are potentially dangerous racial stereotypes about Indians that need to be addressed. That’s just being real. I think pocahontas did a WAY better job at that, but I know it still has its issues (mostly derived from the fact it romanticizes the life of a real life person when the romance didn’t really happened lol).
“Disney was better with the rep back then” what they mean by that: I was a child when watching aladdin so I couldn’t care less about race discourse and just enjoyed the freaking movie like a child is supposed to, now I’m older and have a phone and the internet convinced me that anytime a movie character is other than a straight white man, it’s woke propaganda.
“They should make new characters” I swear to you the first comment I read when the first wish trailer came out was something along the lines of. “So now all the princesses must be black? What about white girls?” And like. Imagine saying that unironically

kids are smarter than people seem to think. because of that, we're big fans of being realistic and honest with kids.
here's a conversation that happened a while ago with a friend's younger sibling.
(trigger warning for mentions and implications of depression and self harm)
Child and I are sitting at the kitchen table. Friend is using the bathroom.
Child: what's on your arm? Me: ???? Child: there! *points at old SH scars* Me: oh. well, I used to be very very sad, and I was very mean to myself because of it. Child: why were you mean to yourself? Me: sometimes when people are very very sad, like I was, they don't know how to make themselves happy again, so they are mean to themselves to cope with it. Child: what does 'cope' mean? Me: It means how you deal with things. Like if I'm nervous, and I count backwards from 10 to make myself feel better, that's called coping. Child: why didn't you tell your mommy how sad you were? Me: I was so sad that I felt like my mommy wouldn't care. Child: *quiet for a few seconds* Child: are you happier now? Me: I am! I haven't been mean to myself in a while. Child: how did you get happy again? Me: I finally told my Mommy and Daddy how sad i was, and they introduced me to someone who helped me get happy again. Child: (in awe) people can do that? Me: yep! some people even go to school to help people be happy! Child: I want to help people be happy !! Me: well, when you're all grown up, you can go to school for that, yeah? Child: (quietly) I want to make people happy like the person helped you be happy again. I don't want people to be mean to themselves. Me: yeah, me either. you're gonna make lots of people very happy, okay? Child: okay. Child hugged me and Friend came back and we ate popcorn and watched Moana.
Kids deserve honesty. I wasn't about to lie and say they were cat scratches, because maybe then they might have ended up fearing cats. Instead, now they want to make people happy when they grow up. I'd say that's a win.

The Sea Beast Review
Tumblr media
So I finally got to watch The Sea Beast. It was one of my most anticipated 2022 films. I’m honestly surprised it fell off the radar so fast. Unfortunately, I’m not too disappointed by the lack of attention. The film left so much to be desired that I’m not sure if I would recommend it.
Story
It's the worst. As a whole, it’s just a more basic version of How to Train Your Dragon, but with no explanation as to what started the war between the creatures and the humans. It gets off on a slow start (definitely could’ve been cut 30 or 20 minutes). Third act was the worst part and just full of contrivances. Captain Crow and his mateys somehow find Maisie and Jacob and attacks Red. Maisie trips and almost dies for whatever reason. Captain Crow shamelessly tries to kill his own son for telling him the truth about the beasts. And the entire town just instantly believes Maisie after giving a speech about the innocence of the beast. Because Maisie is a God. She’s never wrong and always solves everything.
Personally, what I think they could’ve done to set it apart from HTTYD a bit is to make Maisie and Jacob both somewhat wrong. Maybe the creatures don’t actually harm people, but they do harm the environment, which caused the fight between them and humans. With Maisie being a Mary-Sue, it would’ve given her some actual flaws to work with as well as strengthening the dynamic between her and Jacob. Which brings me to….
Characters
They’re a mixed bag. I do like a few of them like Captain Crow and Jacob. However, I can’t help but feel that they could’ve been better in a better story. These two headstrong characters bounce off the more idealistic characters well, but they really don’t get much time to shine. Blue is adorable, even though the story never explains where he came from.
But then there’s Maisie. Whom, I thought was going to be this cool, spunky badass kid from the trailers, but I’m sorry. She’s actually kinda annoying. For some reason. She just gives off a lot of precocious vibes, the way this kid talks and uses mannerisms made me cringe, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was secretly some 20/21-year-old in a 8/9 year old body. Her voice actor portrayed her childishness well, but the way she uses snark, how she knows everything, seems to be the only one able to communicate with the beast, comes up with a lot of theories and philosophies too insightful for any under teen year old. She comes off as a kind of arrogant load kid, yet she’s somehow smarter than the adults. Precocious kids are one of my least favorite character types. If you’re going to have a kid act older than their age, either age them up or show us why they were able to grow up so fast.
Animation/Voice Acting
The animation may not really be Spiderverse levels of groundbreaking, but it did have a style that kinda set it apart from other animated films. The voice actors added some charm to their fairly bland characters and did well with what they were given.
Overall
If you’ve seen How to Train Your Dragon, you would’ve already seen a much better written version of The Sea Beast with better pacing and characters and a more complex story. If it was taking a bit of inspiration from HTTYD while changing up some things, it would’ve been okay. But no, it’s pretty much HTTYD, just more basic. And the child protagonist is just Hiccup if he was a Mary-Sue who stole the spotlight from every other character to the point where they never get their chance to shine.
The Sea Beast gets 5.6 bells out of 10.
Tumblr media
Ironic how both this and Wendell and Wild have well-regarded directors-screenwriters came out the same year, yet came up with such poorly written scripts. How the guy who did Zootopia, Moana, and Frozen couldn’t come up with anything else boggles my mind. I don’t know what he was trying to do here, but I hope he does better next time because I think some of his work is really quite good.

I may get rotten tomatoes for what I'm going to say, but aside of agreeing with everything you said about TLM2, I have to confess that I personally found Melody rather lacking as a character, and I believe she would had benefited of having her own I Want song like Ariel had before she left for the sea. Howard Ashman said it so: the I Want song serves for the heroine to voice her inner thoughts and what she hopes for, and making the audience to root for her during her journey. Ariel accomplished that because in Part of Your World we get to know her passion for exploring, for learning, how she hopes in land they understand her better than in the sea...and I never got that with Melody. Yes, we know she loves the sea, and that she is bullied by her peers who find her weird, but I feel an I Want song would had been able to convey her feelings of isolation and explore better her love and connection to the sea and what she loves so much about it, kinda like Moana's How Far I Go. Instead, we got For A Moment in which she sings how she now has fins and her fingers winkles and can do twirls and the sea is a big pool and that's how she feels like she belongs??? Contrast that with Part of Your World memorable lyrics like "Betcha on land they understand/Bet they don't reprimand their daughters", "Bright young woman/Sick of swimming/Ready to stand" and "And ready to know what the people know/Ask them my questions and get some answers/What's a fire and what's it? What's the word? Burn!" that gave Ariel so much depth in a single song. Because of that, Melody couldn't resonate with me as a character, with respect to their fans, this is just my opinion!
I completely agree with what you're saying and it's a wonderful catch! As a child who did like the mermaid end of things more, I definitely understand their incentive to have taken that approach with Melody and I do get why so many people flock to her for that reason...but on the flipside, where Ariel's struggle was clearly a thinly veiled metaphor for being LGBTQIA+ with a homophobic parent and unaccepting society, I think Melody...her journey just comes across as more shallow because it kind of is? Like she likes the sea and feels like the weird, quirky girl. I think, again, a huge culprit is the fact that they aged everything down- she's a preteen and a lot of just feels like middle school pains lol especially with the voice acting being what it was (no shade to Tara Strong, she's talented, but she definitely was playing to that preK-12 audience).

If the slamming of a door didn’t startle Steve Rogers from of his sleep, then Nat and her incessant prodding definitely managed to rouse the blond super soldier.
“What happened?”
“Its Y/N.”
I have crossed the horizon to find you.
She was in the fireproof training room Tony had designed specifically for her. Balls of flame flew out of her hands, scorching the targets beyond recognition faster than Steve could register. She was a force to be reckoned with in the state she was currently in. He watched from behind the heatproof, one-way mirrored glass as she blasted through every obstacle that popped up. He knew something was wrong, but until she whipped around to take down the final two planks, he didn’t realise just how bad it was.
Tears streamed down her face, or as far as they could go before they evaporated from her skin. It pained him to see such raw, unconcealed anguish on her features. The despair in her usually bright eyes was suffocating to him, and when she finally dropped to her knees, her energy spent, he silently vowed to do whatever it took to help her.
“I know you’re there,” she said quietly, her voice barely audible over the noise of the sprinklers. He remained quiet, not wanting to attract attention to himself, but when she glanced up at the reflective surface he knew he couldn’t pretend any longer. Not while her eyes were rimmed red like they were. With a step forward and the flick of a switch, the glass in front of him cleared, allowing her to lock eyes with him.
I know your name.
“Y/N.”
“Rogers.” Her voice was rough, almost as if she had been screaming. Steve wouldn’t put it past her, considering the scorch marks in the ceiling. “Did Nat send you?”
“She was worried,” Steve spoke slowly, quietly, so as not to startle her. “So was I.”
“I’m fine.”
“Clearly.”
Nothing more was said for a few minutes, until the sprinklers finally shut themselves off.
“Am I going to boil if I come in?” he asked, hoping she would smile at his pitiful excuse at a joke. She did, barely, and without humour before gesturing to the door with her head as if to say be my guest. He didn’t waste a second, and stepped into the now-drenched room with a towel as she tried to wring out her soaked hair.
He waited patiently as she attempted to dry her body with the towel and used her affinity for heat to deal with her hair. Silently, he lingered, awkwardly waiting for her to decide whether she wanted to talk to him. Finally, after what felt like hours, she looked up at him once more, the agony in her eyes now covered up with a poorly constructed wall.
“I saw my family today.”
They have stolen the heart from inside you.
Steve didn’t know much about Y/N’s life before he met her. In fact, the only person in this tower who seemed to know anything about her at all was Clint. Despite his retirement from the team, he seemed to constantly hang around the compound, sometimes with his infant child, Nathaniel, strapped to him. Unfortunately, the archer wasn’t currently in the building, and was back at his farm with his family. What little Steve did know, however, was more than enough.
But this does not define you.
“They’re in the city, and asked if they could see me.” She was picking at the loose threads on the towel, seemingly unfazed by the puddle she was still sat in. “I figured it had been so long that it would be okay.” She seemed to roll her eyes at herself before dropping the material in her hands. It quickly soaked up the water at her feet, turning the fabric into a darker, blood red colour. “Turns out they only wanted to see me so that they could brag that I was an Avenger and ask for money. When I said no, they called me selfish, amongst other things.”
“Darlin’...”
“They said I was a monster – a freak of nature – and wondered why you guys had picked me, out of everyone else, when I’m nothing but a mistake.” Steve scoffed and tugged her into his arms for a hug before he could process the action.
“The so-called fireproof room you managed to somehow set on fire would beg to differ.”
This is not who you are.
“You’re not a monster,” he continued, pressing his lips to the top of her head gently as he spoke. She shook in his arms, but he didn’t know if that was because she was cold, or still wet, or a mixture of both. He held onto her tighter in response, hoping that some of his body heat would be transferred on to her. Not that she needed it. “No more than Bruce is, or Wanda, or even Bucky. You’re unique, and special, but your differences aren’t what make you who you are.” Steve could feel his shirt grow damp with her tears as she soundlessly started to cry again. He was at a loss of words, seeing one of the strongest people he knew break down like this. So he did the only thing he could think of, and pulled her just a little bit closer as he ducked his head and pressed a kiss to her temple while whispering something against her skin.
You know who you are.

How do you feel about how the Disney Princess franchise has treated Ariel's character? This is a question that sparked upon a debate about how the franchise portraits the princesses vs how they are in the movies - ie, all the princesses are resolute and brave and kind in their own ways yet the franchise during the 2000s used to focus more in giving them sparkling dresses (not saying sparlking dresses are bad though!) and I remember back the Disney Princess magazine had lots of stories featuring the princesses and while some were good, others were kinda OOC (I remember a story where Ariel found out a note of a little human girl she saved wishing she could be a mermaid and Ariel was like "Yeah, being a mermaid is amazing!"...which really contradicts her canon characterization in the movie in how she didn't liked to be a mermaid!). I have noticed in recent times the Disney Princess franchise is now focusing more in the more empowering themes surrounding the princesses and their stories (their new "Dream big princess" slogan for example), but overall how do you feel Ariel has been handled?
PS: If you wish you can also comment on how the franchise has treated your other princess muses! (Snow, Cindy and Aurora).
Tumblr media
This is such an interesting question- thanks for sending this in, friend! My relationship with the princess line is very layered. On one hand, I was a very feminine child who worshipped pink and believed the bigger the ballgown, the closer to God. I totally benefited from them glamourizing Ariel, as a child, to an extent but I also think there's a huge difference between what happened in the beginning of the line and what's been happening for the past fifteen years.
The conceit of the Disney Princess line was an exciting premise- they sought to reunite strong female leads from the most iconic Disney films, almost in the same manner as those screen legend documentaries centered around the top actresses of Old Hollywood. They wanted to maintain who the characters were from the films (Ariel's clipart, for instance, was mostly reused from the 1997 rerelease of the film in the beginning of the Disney Princess line) and, while they attempted to provide a cohesion to the characters, I feel like they still succeeded in allowing their individual voices, appearances, and temperaments be shown. Disney really did want to keep each princess separate, to the point where they famously weren't allowed to interact or exchange eye contact and even when Glen Keane proposed a film based on The Twelve Dancing Princesses, he was told that would be too many princesses in one film to keep separate and unique. However, as the line went on, they began to homogenize them and, unfortunately, aim them toward a younger base which is where a huge dip in quality started. As I mentioned previously, there was always a cohesion to the line, but the late 2000s and 2010s took it to a whole new level. It was the byproduct of Disney becoming increasingly commercialized and making the princesses in the films, themselves, more similar to one another and infantilized.
The older princesses were very mature, and we can see that in their fine art merchandise and the elevated discourse surrounding them. The newer princesses, we all meet as children and just seem more made for an audience under twelve. We can observe this in their design, their character treatments, and the writing of their films. Also, we saw this strange phenomenon where the later princesses were seemingly made to rebel against the line itself, like when Moana famously proclaimed she wasn't a princess in her film...yet was still inducted into the princess line? It's very confusing to me, and I feel like there's no reason why anyone is or isn't a princess anymore. The very mold of the line has become breaking the mold, in a sense, as a delayed response to battling the patriarchy but I feel like it's only succeeding in coming across as belittling femininity. I have so many more things to say about this...like the fact that the princesses are one of the most successful franchise in the world but never get their dues (they're the only reason Ralph Breaks the Internet had any buzz around it, sorry) or that they wouldn't even face a fraction of the criticism they do if they were comprised of male characters or that the line is being led of misogynists parading around as feminists that are meanspirited and want to pit the princesses against one around.
In terms of how the princesses were handled, it definitely depends on the era of the line we're discussing. The 2010s were by far the worst and their horrific redesigns still plague the parks costumes. Take Cinderella, for instance. She's such a lovely character that's drawn with a realistic body type, sensible features, and nothing about her is overtly ornate or unnecessary. The clipart from the 2010s slimmed her down considerably and even went as far as airbrushing bones into her upper chest to make her look more thin. They did that for a lot of princesses and it was honestly disturbing, reducing them to an archetype. In this era, Ariel pretty much had no function outside of the "resident mermaid", Cinderella represented the power of makeovers, Aurora was "nap queen", and Snow White was largely omitted/forgotten about. I think Ariel was more true to herself in the beginning, and despite the fact that the newer artwork that has surfaced is hideous, I think with the biographies and shift in marketing, it seems like a change in the right direction? Ariel's about, for instance, on the princess website is very similar to the character description Jodi received for Ariel all the way back in '85. So, I definitely think that it's getting better than what it devolved to in the 2010s, but I think they're still missing that princess energy that made so much of the princesses special. You felt enchanted by them, that it was magical to be in their presence or to just see them. Now, it's very mundane and I feel like anyone could churn out the content that's being produced- nothing's unique about it.
I definitely see the value in maintaining the line, as I think putting certain characters that have dwindled in popular against the "new, cool ones" keep them relevant, to an extent and prevent them from being forgotten about. But I genuinely do wish that they returned to marketing the movies as individual franchises and The Little Mermaid had easily the best franchise in all of Disneydom! The comics, the read along storybooks, the chapter books, the television show, the magazine line- there was so much and it was mostly great! I also think it will allow us to start seeing them as individual characters, as opposed to viewing each princess as a mascot for the Disney Princess line, and then lobbying criticisms against that. If we took the approach I just described, we'd also get to further explore their universes and use characters that are in dire need of new life that never get to see the light of day! For instance, focusing on Sleeping Beauty's universe would allow us to see more of Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and Phillip! Snow White has sadly been parted from the Dwarfs, as they have no place in the princess line, and I wish we would get to see Ariel's sisters as they originally were and not how the prequel made them out to be.
How I feel each individual princess was handled is as follows:
Snow White: She had beautiful merchandise when the line began, and it was right around the time her film was released on DVD first, so I really adored how she was marketed in the beginning! However, as the line went on, she was largely neglected and forgotten so there isn't much to say in the way of a depiction so she wasn't really depicted. I remember one of the voice replacements for Snow White was even told, "You're not Cinderella. You're not going to be making a living off of Snow White or be able to buy a home from this job- we'll probably only use you once a quarter."
Cinderella: I thought her likeness is the beginning of the line was appropriately mature, appealing, and comforting. I liked that they used her as the representative of the line, but I felt that often led to them making her character too general and they were very quick to exchange her personality for more popular renditions of the character (post the third film, they changed her to reflect that Cinderella and then after the live action, they used her interchangeably with the 2015 Cinderella which is a huge mistake that never should've happened). Also, while Jennifer Hale isn’t horrible, her take on the character isn’t really the character and she’s said things recently that leave a bad taste in my mouth about Cinderella.
Aurora: I think Aurora maintained charm in the beginning with her likeness, but as the line progressed, they never really saw her as anything but a pretty girl in a pretty dress and it kind of shows. I think she probably get shortchanged the most for having to be infantilized because she is among the most mature of the princesses in her sensibilities, temperament, and design.
Ariel: Ariel has always been one of the most popular princesses, so they never messed with her too badly, but they did sometimes make her empty-headed and her sole purpose to be: "let me tell you about my exciting life under the sea!" Which, I guess I understand because many children do want to be mermaids and like Ariel because she is one, but as you mentioned it's counterintuitive to her character. Ariel, and all the princesses, fair better or worse depending on what age range the line is being marketed to. When it was wider and more inclusive to adults in the early 2000s, I felt like they kept her intact pretty well, but as it progressed, she got more and more glittery and interchangeable and it makes me sad.
My personal recommendation is from to begin splitting the marketing up! I think Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty should be marketed together as "Walt's Princesses." Aimed for an older audience of art lovers that are collectors, the line would feature authentic items and continue the tradition of hand drawn animation. A lot of integration about Walt would be abundant here, as his hand was paramount to their creation. I want them to be marketed as the women they are, instead of the weird baby hybrids they sometimes become. I think this move would be able to retain Aurora's operative quality, Cinderella's soft jazz voice, and Snow White's coloratura that is eradicated so often for a generic "pop" feel. They'd also just be able to feel like themselves and they, with the aim of this franchise being marketed to a 30-90+ age base, would help animation be seen as a category of film, as opposed to kids' stuff, the way Walt intended. Another line- "Ready to Stand" would feature Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Esmeralda, Meg, Mulan, Tiana, and Pocahontas! So much great diversity, and keeping them with one another would really allow them to continue looking like products of the 90s, as opposed to whatever they're currently turning into. They're also all Broadway girls! It'd be aimed to a base that's in the 20-40ish age range. It's fancy, has sing along values, and the nostalgia, but also the adult factor with characters like Esmeralda, Pocahontas, and Meg bringing a more serious tone. Lastly, the 3D girls: Rapunzel, Frozen sisters, Moana, Merida, and Raya. They're all 3D and should be aimed toward like a preK-early 20s audience because I feel like they mostly cater to that age range? Part of me almost wants to spilt them up into Rapunzel, Frozen sisters, Giselle, and Merida and then have Raya, Moana, Kida...maybe a grown up Eilowny and Nakoma too???
