#link: that's okay i'm fine with adopting

just so obsessed with the idea of revali silently loving link and pining so much for him, but holding back because he's already created this facade that he despises link, because zelda and mipha already loved him first, because why would link ever choose him? so revali keeps it all inside and tries to display his bitterness at unreciprocated love as jealousy and arrogance at the imbalance of their roles, and tries desperately to fall out of love with link.
but it's as though the little hylian won't let him.
link, who practically insists on staying by revali during battle, who stares at revali with that wide blue-eyed gaze, who naps peacefully with his head in revali's lap when they're alone. and revali should be ecstatic at how close they are, but it hurts more than anything. this isn't fair to him, to be so tantalizingly close to link but to never be able to have him more than this. it's so suffocating, revali doesn't think he can stand to do this any longer, or else it might kill him.
but he continues to let link do whatever he pleases; silently tagging along after revali to the archery range, sitting beside him at mealtimes and letting him sneak more bites from revali's plate as though revali doesn't see him, even going as far as to let link sleep with him in his hammock after what revali assumed to have been a very bad nightmare. no one says a single word when revali and link arrive late to breakfast, with link clinging sleepily to revali's wing and revali looking strangely peaceful.
try as he might (he's not trying at all), revali can't say no to link (and neither does he want to), so he supposes he might as well endure this suffering a little longer.
"why do you let me do all this?" link whispers to him once, in the dead of the night, wrapped around revali in his hammock. and revali is silent for a moment, trying to come up with some sort of answer that could defend his actions. but he can't.
"i don't know," he says simply. he can't tell link the truth.
"does it bother you?"
"do you think you'd still be in my bed practically choking me to death with how tightly you're wrapped around me if it did?" revali winces at how biting his words are, but link just hums and snuggles deeper into revali's neck. he doesn't stop link.
"if it bothered you, you'd tell me, right?" the little hylian murmurs.
revali thinks about it for a moment. and he decides, no, i wouldn't. if you wished to be warm, i'd let you use my body as fuel for a campfire.
"go to sleep," he says aloud instead, softly, gently. he couldn't tell link that either, and he probably never would be able to. he wouldn't ever have the chance. "we have battles to prepare for in the morning."
revali wraps his wings snug around the blond, and link practically purrs in content, dozing off immediately into the warmth. like this, the rito almost smiles. if burning himself alive was the only way to have link, even for just a moment that couldn't always be guaranteed, then revali would just have to make sure he stayed alight; to be the bonfire keeping link warm throughout the night.

pairings: chris evans x vet!reader
warnings: a whole bunch of fluff
summary: an ordinary day at the shelter turns into something... unexpected
a/n: trust chris to get me out of writers block. also holy fuck that outfit has a fucking chokehold on me ithinkiforgothowtobreathelohmygod
***********************************************************************
You weren't told about this. Well... you were told someone was coming in for a collaborative video linked to the dogs... but you definitely weren't expecting this.
Chris-fucking-Evans.
You watched as he walked in, his broad figure hugged by a too-tight shirt, a small chain peeking through the collar, his hair messy under his cap and his blue eyes sparkling through his glasses. A large grin adored his face as he clapped his hands excitedly. You couldn't help discretely looking him up and down and your thoughts took over, momentarily distracting you. You took a deep breath and walked into your treatment room.
You were the resident vet at the shelter, looking after all the dogs that were brought in. You loved your job, being able to hang out with the dogs all day, it was both fun and rewarding. You knew them all at this point and made it your habit to see all of them first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
You had actually adopted your pup, Buzz, from the shelter, a beautiful baby chocolate lab. To be fair, you would've gladly adopted them all if your landlord hadn't forbade you and you had enough money and space. Now you just brought him into work, letting him run around and socialise as you did your thing.
You were doing a checkup on a dalmatian that had been brought in the week before when the camera crew came in, Chris-fucking-Evans tailing along behind them with a large smile. You momentarily paused, your eyes widening slightly before you put on a smile and made more room. You introduced yourself and the dog, Coco and they asked you a couple questions then let you work, filming you doing the checkup. Chris stood to the side watching intently as you worked with the dalmatian, wearing the scrubs and gloves you had leant him. You were glad Coco was calm throughout the checkup, not getting spooked by the amount of people in the room.
You smiled as you deemed everything fine with her and stepped aside as Chris came forward to give her a treat. Your heart almost burst when you saw how soft he was with her, raising his voice a couple octaves higher as he pet her gently. Once your piece was over, the crew left as you got ready to take Coco back to her room. You clipped on the leash as you looked for anything you had maybe left, when you saw Chris standing by your equipment, a smile still on his face.
"Hi?"
"Uh hey! Hey. I'm Chris." He looked at you and stepped forward, extending his hand for a handshake. You took his hand in yours as you smiled shyly.
"Yeah, I know. It's really nice to meet you sir."
Chris gave out a breathy laugh as his cheeks became dusted with a slight pink.
"Please no need for that, just call me Chris."
"Okay... Chris. Was there anything you needed?"
"Nah, I just wanted to say that's it's great y'know... what you do for the dogs here."
Your cheeks heated at the compliment as you smiled wider.
"Thank you! But honestly, it's not much. I love what I do."
"Still, it's exceptional.... hey... i was wondering if you're free after this?"
You froze slightly as your eyes widened a fraction. Your jaw almost dropped as you took in the man in front of you. He couldn't possibly want to go out with you..? You mentally shook the thought off and heat rose to your cheeks as you realise you kept him waiting.
"Y-yep! I'm free."
"Great! What time do you get off?"
"7."
"I'll be waiting..."
He winked and walked out of the room, leaving you slightly flustered and confused, but it a good way. And you couldn't help thinking that was something... unexpected.

▽ Subway to Stardew - Adoptable Joltik ⚡️
This would play after Emmet's 8 heart event and getting Joltik up to 8 hearts as well.
I released a separate mod specifically for adopting Joltik, so you only need to get them up to 8 hearts to adopt them! You can do it right now!
Adoptable Joltik Mod Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21002
Tumblr media
And of course... Commentary under the read-more.
Joltik's adoption event sat in the drafts for quite a while. It took me whole a day to implement and I didn't let myself sleep until I finished everything. (It's 1 PM now...)
The event ended up wildly different because of how extra custom pets are implemented. You would think that they would be added in the same way as you get your cat/dog that you select during character creation. No. You have to buy a license. Only Marnie is authorized to sell them.
Here's the original script for Joltik's adoption event:
[Joltik Adoption Event]
Emmet: @! Joltik likes you verrrrry much. They want to stay with you. I'm letting you adopt them. Yup. I filled out all the paperwork. The Joltiks are legally documented now.
I never gave ours a name... Galvantula wouldn't let me. She is verrrry picky about it. But that's okay. Joltik is yours. You should name them. She came along for approval. So. What name should I put on the adoption form?
[Name input box like Marnie's adoption thing...]
[Galvantula pauses for a moment to think and then offhandedly agrees.]
Emmet: Galvantula didn't shock me for that. That name is okay. Yup. I will file that with the Ferngill Republic. Don't worry about it. Make sure you take verrrry good care of our little Joltik!
[Joltik jumps and heart emotes]
◇──◆──◇──◆
The whole naming portion was a source of much more frustration than it should have been. In events, the name input box is brought up by the "catQuestion" command (which applies to dogs chosen at the start, too...
Tumblr media
If you refuse, then Marnie also shows up no matter what you do. Farmhouse positions are also tricky and made even harder to find reference for after 1.6 added the farmhouse being moveable. Joltik kept spawning where Emmet was supposed to be so I had to use a move command just to get them to spawn one tile to the side. Galvantula was fine. I didn't get to updating her vanilla portraits yet so she's staying quiet.
The catQuestion command also only adds the pet you pick during character creation. There's no fields to target the usage. You have to buy a license. It's the only way to get another pet. I didn't want Joltik to replace a cat either since in-story you would have to earn the trust of both Emmet and Galvantula... There's no way you can do that by the first 25 days of spring. It's immersion breaking and you lose a cat.
I did find the license aspect funny though. It was oddly fitting for the mod's lore of Pokemon being pretty much banned from the region. Emmet is a threat to Stardew Valley's ecosystem. Not the best guy for the task of combating anti-Pokemon xenophobia.
Pet sizes are apparently hardcoded so I had to make a new spritesheet for Joltik as if they even need a 32 x 32 pixel area per frame. I did end up making new sprites for them while I was at it. I tried to base it off of the cat's behaviors so I have less animation fields to edit (I was tired). The cat loafs a lot. Trying to convey that in a tiny spider posed quite the challenge.
Tumblr media
After everything was done, I figured that the whole adoption portion of the mod could easilly be taken apart to be its own mod as a demo of sorts for the expansion. So I went and made a content pack to post.
Bringing up your starter pet's friendship level takes quite some time, so it would be awkward if I let the event play with no preconditions. Because of that, I ended up including Joltik as an NPC and locking their adoption behind their heart level.
We actually only had two lines per day of the week (not including season) for daily dialogue. That shot up to six lines per day of the week for a full 0-2-4-6-8-10 in spring because I was determined to publish a mod. (I've been modding for nearly a year nonstop and I don't have anything playable... humiliating...)
Anyways! I hope you're all having fun with 1.6! It certainly brought new challenges and opportunities to the modding scene!

== Love Notes ==
Hey lovelies. We're coming up on another week. It's only been a few days since Chaos Dad made the announcement, but I gotta say, it feels almost like a month. I been feeling it pretty hard, and I know so many of you have been struggling. We're all working through things in our own way, and in our own time, slowly but surely.
You really should be proud of yourselves. Look at you. Look at everything you've done in just a few days, hell in a couple months. The amount of people you've sent love to. The amount of lives you made better with a kudos/heart, or a kind word, or a message. None of us, no matter how well we know each other, know how much each of us is going through, and yet you still, throughout it all, put more love into the world. The world is such a better place with you, and your art, and your words, and your kindness, and you should be so incredibly proud of yourself. I know I'm proud of you. I know we're all so very proud of you. And you know what else? You're doing so much better than you think you are. These days especially, everything feels so much worse. Crappy things, compacting on crappy things, and then they try to take our solace away from us. But you know what? You're treading water, even if it feels like you're drowning, and sooner or later, you'll be able to swim again. Don't give up lovelies. We're all still here with you, and we're all so proud of you, and we all love you. Keep on sharing that beautiful spark of yours, it's catching, and it's making the world a much more beautifully bright place.
Tumblr media
I hope the beginning of your week is kind to you <3 Sweet Dreams and Pleasant Days.

Kirishima Eijiro is everything you never thought you'd find when you packed up your car and moved to a dilapidated fishing town.  He was handsome, funny, and kind; the sort of man who took your breath away.
And that might actually be a bit of a problem.
---
"Good girl ," Eijiro praised, his hands like a vice on your hips as he pulled away from your mouth with a satisfied grin.  You returned his smile with one of your own; the vibrant joy that had churned in your belly unfurled throughout your body, leaving you feeling breathless and lightheaded.
"Eiji," you gasped, eyes widening in panic as your lungs seemed to seize in your chest.  "I- can't breathe!"

It was an indescribably gorgeous day out in the water, the waves lapping at your shoulders were the perfect temperature to cool your sun-warmed skin without chilling you.  The sky was a solid bright blue with no variation in its hue, making it look like whoever was in charge of coloring the sky that morning just stuck a paint sample card up and called it a day.
"We've been out here for a long time," you mentioned offhandedly, heaving yourself up onto your raft inelegantly, grunting as you struggled to get a leg up and roll onto the wildly bobbing flotation device.
"Oh!" Kirishima exclaimed, startled by how much the sun had shifted in the sky.  "Yeah, we have!  Geeze, it's already way past noon!"
Finally fully on your raft, you let out a whoosh of air as exhaustion settled  into your muscles as you sprawled out under the warm sun.
"Do you wanna' try and squeeze up into the raft with me?" You offered, patting the narrow sliver of remaining raft at your side.  "It'll be a snug fit, but we can make it work."
"As much as I'd love to join you up there, I don't think It'd be a good fit," Kirishima admitted regretfully, his throat bobbing as his eyes over the curve of your hip where your rash guard had crept up and exposed a strip of sun-warmed skin.
"Yeah, you're probably right," you laughed nervously, doing your best to banish the thought of the two of you on the raft together, limbs tangled up and chests pressing closer as you struggled to make room for each other.  "I'm just worried your legs are getting tired."
"Why would they be?" Kirishima asked with a furrowed brow, snagging a bit of seagrass floating by and twirling it about on his finger.
"Because you've been treading water for hours now?"
"Oh, right!  My legs are so tired right now!" He laughed uneasily, balling up and crushing the seagrass in his fist.
"Are you going to be okay to get back to shore?  I'd hate for you to get caught in a current and be too tired to make it back to shore safely," you told him, concern seeping into your tone as you rested your hand across Kirishima's muscled forearm.
"I'll be fine," he beamed at you, gazing at you with soft eyes as he ran his thumb tenderly over the back of your hand.  "But it's sweet that you're worried about me."
Breath catching somewhere in the vicinity of your diaphragm, you smile bashfully in response, turning your hand in his to lace your fingers tightly with his as the two of you lazily paddled back towards the shore.
Tumblr media
It hadn't been in your plans to move in with your Grandpa after graduation, but it also hadn't been in your plans to be buried so deeply in educational debt you weren't sure you'd ever manage to pay it back.  Your chosen field was competitive and potential employers weren't calling back, so with the move-out date for student housing fast approaching you weren't left with a ton of options.
Gran-Gran had passed a couple years prior and Gramps had done a good job carrying on without her, even though you tell by his wistful sigh when he walked by the framed photographs in the hallway that he missed her dearly.  But as he marched steadily towards the end of his life the list of things he was able to do independently dwindled with each passing month.  He'd nearly broken a hip during your final semester when he'd fallen off a chair trying to replace a burnt out bulb in his porch sconce.
That event had gotten the family chat buzzing with concern; people expressing their displeasure that he was living alone but unwilling to personally do anything to remedy the issue.
Suddenly flush with time, you'd loaded up your car and made the long trip up to the seaside house your Grandparents had lived in for far longer than you'd been alive.  Your friends had been jealous of your relocation at first, imagining your new life to be the glamorous sort that they had seen in movies and the obligatory beach episodes of their favorite shows.  Their excitement for you had quickly evaporated when you finally arrived and started sending them photos from your new town.
Every picture you sent was overwhelmingly brown.  Everything from the buildings to the sand and even the ocean itself was a murky russet color, a far cry from the pristine blue they had been picturing in their heads.  Even the food did its best to conform to the town's limited color palette; the beige of fresh fried seafood and potatoes that made up the majority of your meals made for a sad entry whenever you compared snapshots of meals.
It had saddened you at first, the oppressive brown atmosphere, but in the end it had turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  The blandness of your surroundings had made you notice the brilliant crimson spot bobbing across the distant waves, a beacon luring you out into the water to investigate.
Hastily donning a life vest, you set out from shore on your trusty inflatable raft, making a horrifying discovery as you neared the mysterious red blob in the distance.
It was a person.
Ice cold panic crashed through your veins as you frantically paddled out towards the man, the head disappearing beneath the waves for longer and longer stretches of time, your lungs aching in sympathy for how long they were staying submerged between breaths.
After what felt like an eternity you were finally upon them, limbs shaking from adrenaline.
"Are you okay?" You called out, chest heaving from exertion.
The man spun towards you in the water, eyes wide in shock, before he let out an ear piercing shriek and disappeared beneath the waves with a large splash.
"Hey!" You screeched, shoving your arm down into the area where his head had submerged, bright red hair completely hidden by the murky ocean water.  "Can you hear me?  Swim towards my voice!"
Your shoulder was aching with how violently you were waving it about, desperate to make contact with the struggling man losing his fight with the sea.
"Please," you begged whatever Gods above or below might be listening.  "Don't let me be too late- I couldn't paddle any faster!  I'm sorry!  I'm sorry!" You wailed, throwing yourself half over the side so you could reach in with your other arm, hoping to double your chances for finding the drowning man.
"If you can hear me, just- just hold on!" You cried, tears blurring your vision as salty water splashed across your face.  "Please!  Just grab hold of my hand!  I won't let go, I promise!"
Uncountable, anxious moments passed before you felt fingers gently graze across your palm.  You surged forward, wrapping both your hands around the man's wrist and then hauling yourself backwards, pulling the man towards the surface with all your might.
"I caught you!" You sobbed in delight when his head breached the surface.  You tugged him further up to hang off the edge of your raft while you collapsed next to him, chest heaving in exhaustion.
"Yeah," the man gasped, looking at you with wide, dazed eyes.  "I guess you did."
Tumblr media
That man was Kirishima Eijiro and you two had been inseparable ever since, spending lazy days floating out on the ocean and enjoying each other's company.  Sometimes you would lay quietly along the bottom of your raft, watching the horizon for the tell-tale spouting of water that heralded the arrival of a surfacing whale.  Kirishima loved to show off his diving prowess when you were in shallower waters, sliding beneath the choppy waters with a sharp grin, returning moments later with interesting shells, bits of bone, and wriggling starfish with too many legs.
You had thought about asking him into town with you, but that notion was immediately discarded because what would you even do there?  Visit the only restaurant in town that served the exact same fried fish your Grandpa made while you withered under the judgmental gazes of the old fishermen playing dominoes at the corner table?
Hard pass.
So you woke up before the sun with your Grandpa, dodging all his attempts to coax you into sitting on a whoopie cushion or trying out a new bottle of perfume you knew with utter certainty was just a dolled up bottle of fart spray; and paddled out in the early morning light to spend the beginning of the day with Kirishima.  Once the sun's rays became unbearable you'd return to shore and join your Grandpa and his friends down on the dock, mending nets and patching crab pots while they doled out unsolicited life advice.
You accepted their wisdom with a polite nod, knowing that they meant well.  Their own children and grandkids had left the town years ago and never looked back, so you were a convenient outlet for all the paternal advice they so rarely had the opportunity to dispense.
Days crawled by, each much the same as the one before, and you tried not to think about how easily you had settled into life in this moldering town that seemed to decay before your very eyes.
You expressed this to Kirishima; your worries and fears about identifying so strongly with a lifestyle that would likely be buried alongside the aging townsfolk.
"What will you do then?" He asked, staring intently into your eyes as his fingers tightly gripped the rope running around the side of your raft. "Will you stay?  Even when your Grandfather is gone?"
You didn't like to think of it- of your Grandpa dying.  He was such a spitfire of an old man whose playfully nature seemed immune to fading like his eyesight and hearing had.
"I don't know.  But I think there might be more reasons to stay than to go," you whispered, returning his meaningful glance; the moment ruined by the choking squawk of seagulls passing overhead.
Tumblr media
"Is there anything here, do you think?  Between us?" You asked Kirishima one cloudy day, your nerves jumping as you mustered up the courage to broach the subject that had been on the forefront of your mind for weeks.
"Nah," Kirishima scoffs, waving a hand dismissively.  Your stomach twists in on itself in embarrassment and you rush to find some excuse to change the subject when Kirishima continues talking.  "There was a shark around earlier, but it's gone now."
"Wait, what?" You screech, tucking your legs up to your chest protectively.  "There was a shark and you didn't think to tell me?"
"You didn't notice?" He asks, face scrunched up in confusion. "Weird."
"It's not weird!  How would I even be able to notice something like that?  You can't see anything in this water!  Did you like, kick it or something?"
"Yes," Kirishima coughs uneasily.  "I know it was there because I kicked it.  With my feet.  Of which I have two."
"Oh God, it was that close?" You whine, burying your face into your hands while Kirishima seemed to be experiencing a delayed revelation.
"Hold on- what were you talking about before if it wasn't the shark?"
"Oh, uh," you stammer uneasily, fiddling with the zipper of the emergency bag strapped to your waist.  "Nothing!  Don't worry about it."
"Were you talking about us, us?" Kirishima groaned, rubbing a wet hand down his face with a rugged groan.  "Oh, man!  I've totally messed this up, haven't I?"
"No!  Of course not!" You quickly reassured him, still not brave enough to meet his eyes after his casual rejection.  "This is all on me.  I shouldn't have assumed- I should have realized that what I was feeling was one-sided."
"Hush," Kirishima rumbled, a gravely sort of sound that sent shivers down your spine.  Fingers ran across your forearm, leaving gooseflesh in their wake as you hesitantly lifted your gaze to his.
"Whatever feelings you have- however you might see me, believe me when I say that I feel the same."
"So, we're friends," you offer tentatively with a wobbly smile.
"The very best," Kirishima agreed readily.
"And…also something more?  If you'd like?"
"Oh, I'd like that," he grinned wildly. "I'd like that very much."
Tumblr media
Grandpa wasn't in a good way when he woke, his joints stiffer than normal and a delay in the movement on his left side that had you contemplating loading him up into your beater of a car and driving him inland to find a doctor.  You decided to spend the morning with him, despite his colorful protests, and called down to the dock to let his friends know that he was alright.
You could tell he was frustrated by the shaking of his hand and how often he had dropped his toothbrush in the sink, so you let him slip you a piece of chewing gum that turned your teeth black in an effort to cheer him up.  He was delighted by your coal-black smile, letting out a wheezing guffaw every time you grinned at him.  Your teeth would be a touch gray for a couple of days, but it was worth it to see your Grandpa's spirits bolstered.
After escorting Gramps down to the docks and fetching him a large glass of water, you bid the group of old curmudgeons farewell and darted down to the shore.  Kirishima didn't own a phone, which was usual in this day and age, but not unheard of in the area.  Paranoia ran thick through people's blood and many of the old guard were happiest living as far off-grid as they could reasonably manage.  Kirishima's lack of phone wasn't typically an issue so long as you stuck to your established routine, but it did make it difficult to coordinate whenever things went awry.
Hands cupped above your eyes, you peered out into the water and saw Kirishima's brilliant red hair far closer to shore than was typical.  He was swimming back and forth in tight circles as if he was pacing, anxiously awaiting your arrival.
You raised your hands above your head and waved frantically to catch his attention, snorting in amusement when he finally noticed you and lost his focus,  getting pushed under water by a passing wave.
"That yer friend?" One of the old men combing the beach with a metal detector asked.
"Sure is," you reply tightly, not thrilled by the notion of your personal life becoming this week's town gossip fodder.
"Be careful with that one," the man warned with a snort, hocking a thick brown loogie down onto the sand by your feet.  "He's got red hair.  That's bad luck out on a boat."
"Everything is bad luck out on a boat," you mutter sourly.
"Yer not wrong," the old man wheezed in amusement. "Just be careful.  The sea is greedy for beautiful things, and yer the prettiest thing that's been 'round here in a long, long time."
"Aww," you coo, savoring the way the rare compliment settled warmly in your chest.
"Don't let it go to yer head," the man sniffed, pulling his headset back over his ears as his wand started beeping enthusiastically about something further inland. "Yer just a fairer sight than the rest of us old farts, but that ain't saying much."
"I hope you find nothing but bottle caps until the day you die," you grumble peevishly, blowing a dramatic kiss out to Kirishima, who dove to catch it in midair before holding it fast to his heart.
"If only," the man sighed as he limped away. "But I ain't never been that lucky."
Tumblr media
You were startled by your Grandpa coughing loudly while he worked on slicing up his fish fry into bite sized pieces.
"One of the boys told me they saw you out on the beach this morning," he said, dipping a small piece of fish into a heaping pile of ketchup and horseradish.
"Of course they did.  You're all a bunch of nosey busy bodies," you huff in irritation, shoving a large spoonful of canned peas into your mouth and wincing at their lack of flavor.
"I trust you and your judgment," Grandpa assured you as you picked up the salt shaker in the middle of the table.  "But just be careful, alright?  I've been a man for many years now and up to no good for nearly all of them."
"I will, Gramps.  Thanks for worrying," you said with a smile, giving the shaker a hearty jiggle and watching in horror as the lid fell clean off into your peas along with the entire contents of the salt shaker.
"Ya' see?" Gramps hollered, slapping his knee in delight.  "Totally untrustworthy- the lot of us!"
Tumblr media
Your relationship with Kirishima, while good, was innocent on the best days and positively chaste on the worst.  You had vivid memories of participating in far more brazen displays of affection with your middle school boyfriend than what Kirishima seemed comfortable with.
Wandering hands were constantly redirected to areas safely above the water line and attempts at kisses were redirected at the last moment onto turned cheeks and noses.
You didn't mind the slow pace at first, respecting Kirishima's personal boundaries and desire to not rush into anything physical. But as the weeks ticked by the speed of your developing relationship shifted from glacial to stagnant, you couldn't help but be frustrated and more than a little confused.
"Ugh!" You screeched in irritation when your kiss landed across his jaw instead of your intended target of his lips.  With a huff, you push on Kirishima's shoulders to propel yourself backwards in the water and away from him.
"What's wrong?" He asked, brow wrinkled in confusion as he reached out for you, hands flexing in a grabby motion to lure you back to him.
"That's what I want to know!" You yell, slamming your hands down on the surface of the water, the sudden impact stinging your skin.  "You just push me away every time I try to get close to you!"
"I- I'm sorry," Kirishima whimpers.
"Do you- do you want to break up?" You ask, voice quiet and cracking.
"No!  No, of course not!" Kirishima rushes to reassure you, closing the distance between you in an instant, pulling you against his chest and running comforting fingers across your cheeks, leaving trails of water in their wake.  "I care about you so much."
"Then what's going on?" You sniff miserably, nuzzling the space between Kirishima's pecs to comfort yourself.  "Why won't you kiss me?"
"I just- I feel really bad when I try to kiss you."
"Really not helping out my self-confidence here, Eijiro," you wince, the sound of his heart beat thundering under your ear.
"Ah, geez!  No!  Not like that!  I just, maybe, haven't been completely honest with you about something," he admits hesitantly.  "And I feel guilty."
"Oh."
"Yeah," he shifts uneasily, kicking up a strong current that lashes against your legs.  "It doesn't feel right, getting closer to you while I'm keeping a secret."
"Can you tell me?  Your secret, I mean," You ask hesitantly, staring up into his warm eyes.
"I want to," he says, dropping his forehead down onto yours with a heavy thunk that sends stars flying across your vision.  "I'm just scared."
"You don't have to be scared," you assured him honestly, looping your arms around his neck to pull yourself closer to him.  "I'm already halfway in love with you.  It'll take a lot to frighten me away."
"Yeah," Kirishima sighed morosely.  "I know."
Tumblr media
Kirishima wrapped the tow line of your raft around his chest and swam out towards a rocky outcropping further up the shore and away from town.  You hadn't explored this far North before because the tides were fairly strong in this area and it was easier on your arms to drift and explore the areas to the South.
"Here we are," Eijiro announced, lashing the rope of your boat around a half-rotten piling; evidence of a past pier claimed by the sea.  You scuttled out of your raft as smoothly as you could, the waves breaking on the rocks making your exit maneuvers more bumbling than you would have liked.  But you managed to get to the top of the slick rocks without slipping, so it was an overall win in your book.
"Alright," you said with a firm head nod, focusing on Eijiro's serious expression and not the unpleasant feeling of algae squishing under your hands.  "What is it you want to tell me?"
"Okay," Kirishima sighed, his chest visibly sinking with the force of his exhale.  "Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yeah, just- give me a minute?" He squeaked, running his shaking hands through his damp hair, the bright red tresses clumping together into rows between his fingers.  "This is harder than I thought it would be."
"Maybe just say it really quick?" You offer.  "Just get it over with- like pulling off a bandaid."
"A what?"
"Do you…not know what a bandaid is?" You ask, utterly flummoxed by his question.
"Not important right now," Kirishima waved his hand dismissively.  "We'll circle back to that later."
"Of course.  Right.  We need to stay focused here."
Moments pass in silence as you wiggle your fingers in the squishy algae beneath you while Kirishima's skin seems to turn ghastly pale before your eyes.  You were about to ask if he was okay when he suddenly released a powerful roar that seemed to rattle your bones with its intensity.
"C'mon, Kirishima!  Man up!  You've got this!" He bellowed, suddenly pointing at you with one of his long fingers.  "Are you ready!?"
"I-," You stammered, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his demeanor.  "Yes?"
"That's the spirit!" He cheered, pumping a fist into the air.  "Here I come!"
And then Kirishima surged up and out of the water, his arms tensing as he caught the edge of the rock face and began pulling himself up in an impressive show of strength.  He scrambled for purchase across the slippery stone, eventually letting out a triumphant grunt when he found a foothold and was able to push himself up.
And up.
And up.
Kirishima was towering high above you now, his torso stretched far above where a normal human chest would be.  His monumental form blocked out the sun and cast a shadow down onto your shivering body- either from the sudden chill of the shade or the prickles of fear jolting down your spine; you weren't entirely certain.
As your eyes trailed down his elongated body it suddenly became clear as to why you'd never seen Eijiro out of the water.
Starting at his waist and proceeding downwards were rows and rows of chitinous plating that nestled and slotted I to each other to form a massive lobster tail.  Eight spindly legs clicked loudly across the rock as he swayed nervously from side to side; arms crossing and uncrossing as he waited for you to respond.
Overwhelmed by his revelation, you inhaled a great shaky breath and promptly burst into tears.
"H-hey," Kirishima stuttered, reaching for you on instinct; second guessing his actions at the last moment and pulling his hands away with a pained grimace.  "It's okay!  I know I look scary, but I promise I won't hurt you!"
"It's not- it's not that," you wailed, blowing your nose into the hem of your rash guard.  "I could never be scared of you, Eijiro!"
"Spirits be praised," Kirishima whispered, visibly deflating in relief as his arms shot out once again to embrace you, running his hands soothingly down your back as he made quiet shushing noises to soothe you.  "If you aren't scared, then why are you so upset?"
"Because I'm allergic to shellfish!" You cried, burying your face into his shoulder as another wave of sobs overtook you.
"I don't- what does that mean?"
"It means that lobsters make me sick!"
"Oh," Kirishima muttered numbly, his hands stilling against your back as dread welled up in his belly.  "Well, shit."
Tumblr media
The two of you lay sprawled out on that rocky outcropping, idly watching the clouds shift by.  Kirishima was on his back, his numerous lobster legs folded and tucked close to his body while his feathery swimmerets fluttered anxiously in the air.
"So, how allergic are you exactly?"  Kirishima asked, his tail slapping against the ground mindlessly as his thoughts raced.
"Allergic enough to carry this," you sighed as you unzipped your emergency pack and pulled out an EpiPen.  "I've had to carry one ever since I was a kid.  I used to eat a ton of lobster- wait.  That must sound awful to you!"
"Nah," Kirishima said, waving off your distress with a hand and a couple of legs thrown in for good measure.  "I eat lobsters all the time.  They're delicious."
"I- well.  Okay, then," you replied uneasily, trying not to dwell on the potential moral ramifications of Kirishima's lobster consumption.  "Anyway, I had ordered some lobster tails like I normally did, but once I started eating them I began itching like crazy.  I've avoided shellfish ever since."
Kirishima blew out a frustrated breath as his hand crept towards you, weaving his fingers through yours.
"What are we going to do?" Eijiro murmured dejectedly, squeezing your hand tightly as the clouds tumbled through the sky above you.
"I don't know."

It's intro post time!
Hi! I'm KitCat!
~The end~
Okay okay maybe you need a little bit more.
As I already said, I'm KitCat, master procatsinator and moving catastrophe, nice to meet you. (Though, everybody calls me KitKat, Kit or Chocosy, which is perfectly fine as well as any other name you want to give me ;)
I'm a minor, so all the creeps please leave now. My motto in life is "live and let live", so if you're here to hurt somebody, please leave too. Thank you :).
The typical things (that I actually forgot when I first posted this): I'm a straight white European Christian girl (teenager) and therefore probably the person with the most boring background, according to Tumblr ;).
I have two "adopted daughters": 1. My Killercat and tuna-demanding master Pauline 2. ";)", the bracket face (she can adapt any form of bracket face if she wants to, but the winking one is her favourite)
Some random facts about me: - my favourite colour is something between purple and dark blue - I have no clue how to write the word color/colour - I'm a German and from Germany (obviously) - I have no clue about the 'typical German culture', since my family was in Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia for around three hundred years and only came back to Germany 30 years ago or so - I love brackets and bracket faces - I have no clue about aesthetics - I consider myself a writer - I have no clue how to continue my stories - I love cats (who would have guessed that) - I have no clue how to make an intro post - I have a stupid sense humour - I have no clue in general but I'm trying :)
You can consider me as: Your silly Tumblr neighborhood KitCat and founder of the hug-ducks ;).
Do I take Tumblr serious? No. I'm that one friend that will be hyperactive the one day and then just dissappear for the next three weeks without a word. But if you ever need me, my inbox is always open. Vent as much as you want to, I'll try to comfort you.
Random stuff: I often misunderstand stuff, so if I'm acting weird, there is a 1/3 chance that I misunderstood you, a 1/3 chance I wanted to make a silly joke and you misunderstood me, and a 1/3 chance that I'm just weird ;). I'm a "Very vibey" (@mushroomcarrotstick) person, btw. @hijabi-desi-bookworm told me once I was "literally one of the best and ~vibest~ people" she knows. Do with that whatever you want, but my name is KitCat Chaos Vibey Clueless Badass Silly for a reason. Oh and if ANYBODY tells you that I'm cute, they are liars. All lies. I'm a pure badass and never ever search after the leta vs. kitkat war. It's better to let the past behind us and move on.
Sooooo, what else can I write here? Hmmm.... AH! MY MOOTS! I FORGOT MY MOOTS!!!
How do I do this now... you know what? I'll just make a list of the moots and then put the link here.
What else? Fandoms, maybe? (current obsession right on the top) - Worm (Parahumans) - Renegades - Claim the Stars (still waiting for the second book) - pjo, hoo, toa - The Inheritance Games (currently reading the second book) - tpq - kotlc - Warrior Cats (don't make fun of me. These books are my childhood and I will read them until I die) - Shadow League (never read the fourth book as it wasn't translated)
Also I enjoy listening music by Imagine Dragons :).
Yeah well, that's it, I suppose. I have an ao3 account as well, but that's only Renegades fanfiction so far. If you want the link just ask or smth.
Since everybody does this, I'll drop an "aesthetic picture" that should give the same vibes as my blog:

OKAY SO this dynamic was gifted upon me by divine prophecy (/silly) so this is my propaganda about why silver and moon should be half siblings and why their dynamic would fuck severely in an interesting way.
- both silver and moon have, on account of circumstances, been forced into a position where they have to be strong. moon, after nearly dying and getting saved by a legendary pokemon, is pushed by the adults around them into being strong and a protector on account of them viewing moon as being "chosen" by tapu koko. silver, on the other hand, is pushed into being strong by his lack of adult support — he's left homeless and abandoned by his own fucking father and so he has no choice but to get stronger, mentally and with pokemon.
- it's an interesting juxtaposition how moon, despite being literally pushed into everything (example: guzma trying to fight prof. kukuu only for the professor to turn around and force moon to fight him instead), canonically treats their pokemon with love and care and has this series of winning and winning and winning. they get pushed into becoming the champion against their will by circumstances out of their control and they get stronger at a rate so rapid that they can't properly handle it and they're always winning and beating people. because they have to. silver on the other hand, despite actively seeking out strength, struggles to gain it on account of not having any support or love or knowing how to care for others (even if he starts to learn) both human and pokemon wise — and he loses. he loses consistently against ethan/lyra/kris. he loses against lance. both of them have been put into a position where they have to be strong but despite silver actively seeking to be strong on his own, he can't do it to the same amount of success.
- i think it'd make silver so Much Worse to have a little sibling. it'd definitely take him a while to find out about moon for like. Obvious reasons. but finding out about them would cause a like massive internal conflict. about. the desire (though suppressed) to have a family and how even if he has lance and ethan and kris and lyra there still is that *ache* over being abandoned and wishing that his bio family was good and he didn't have to go through that. i could see him finding out about moon when he's around the age of like. 16. the alola protagonist was originally from kanto and is like significantly younger than blue, who's only around 2-3 years younger than silver. so they'd probably be a Small Child. also it'd made silver worse by making him absolutely Terrified of accidentally mistreating moon because Small Defenselesss Child and him who has a History with mistreatment of others
- despite that it'd be. kinda good. for silver. to have to decide if he wants to try to have a relationship with this Child so is only related to him via the man who so badly harmed him. he's learning to bond with his pokemon and others, however, bonding with a child requires a lot of patience and things silver struggles with. if he Wants to pursue a relationship with the only link he has to his bio family, it'd force him to have a completely different dynamic and figure out how to Deal with that.
- also this is a sillier reason but lance gets yet another kid to adopt. win for the serial adopter !
- also THEY WOULD HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH ABANDONMENT. lillie fucked off and left alola and tried not to say goodbye but moon found them at the last second — and giovanni fucked off and left silver and tried not to say goodbye and silver only caught him at the last second.
- also moon moving to alola would like destroy a small part of silver. even if his reaction would be to just go "i'm fine it's fine it's fine i'm an adult i can handle this. i can handle it."
- but also. if silver is aware of lillie because of moon, when she goes to kanto (he'd be an adult at this time) he can bring the serial adopter lance around and help lillie properly heal. because even if she's been healing she still feels a sense of obligation towards lusamine that they could help her shake off.
- aside from the temptation of angst. the dynamic would also be kinda funny. moon giving silver (and by extension lance ethan kris and lyra) 10 000 heart attacks whenever they tell him about their pokemon journey because what do you MEAN you fell off a bridge what the FUCK moon— don't even get me started on rainbow rocket. the way moon would text silver "hey team rocket's in alola ????" and silver would find a way to literally teleport there that Second to kill a bitch (giovanni)
oh also there's this:
silver, looking at moon: .....what do you.... what the....
moon, who has lunala and zygarde: these are nebby and ziggy !!! :DD

can you pls summarize the jaiden lore? i really want to start watching her in qsmp but i don't have the energy to watch all of those streams
yeah yeah ofc!! i'm gonna do a quick summary, but for some more in-depth, but still not stream-length overviews, i'm also dropping the wiki link here -> [link]. this got a Bit long so i'm putting it under the cut ^_^
so. at the beginning, jaiden lived in the wall with wilbur and slime in la ciudad del sacapuntas! she had been one of the people climbing the wall when it was first blown up, and the event marked her first death on the server, which is why she's often depicted with burn scars! she was the first (?) to discover the census bureau, having heard its voice in one of the empty buildings around spawn and being jumpscared by it. it would later jumpscare her again when she was mining, and after answering some of its questions, it gifted her a blue parrot she named ari!
the egg event began, pairing players together in order to look after an egg, and jaiden got paired with roier! they adopted the egg in overalls, which they named bobby, and it was decided that jaiden and bobby would move into roier's house, as jaiden's wall overhang wasn't really fit for raising a kid. the three of them quickly grew to become one of the Healthiest families of the server, to the point where they even offered to adopt two other eggs who had bad family lives in order to give them a more stable childhood. roier and jaiden became close quickly, with roier trusting jaiden with his and spreen's past and his issues with trust and betrayal. jaiden, in turn, trusted roier with everything, and the two grew to rely on each other.
after his egg's death, slimecicle went on a rampage, attempting to kill all the remaining eggs. roier and jaiden's place became a safehouse for most of the eggs at this time, and jaiden was left looking after a good 4 or 5 eggs while the other parents went out and attempted to calm down charlie. during a confrontation, jaiden accidentally blew him up with a landmine, which was enough to snap him out of his rage. charlie would go on to sue his wife, mariana, for their egg's death, recruiting jaiden as one of his lawyers. mariana ended up hiring roier as his lawyer, however, this spawned no bad blood between jaiden and roier.
for the next while, the three just lived in relative peace. bobby had a nightmare, but he got better, so all was fine. most importantly, the three of them went on a family road trip, wherein they encountered a field of roses. they decided to take some family photos there, as the location was one of the most beautiful things they'd seen on the island. the brazilians arrive, then the french. roier becomes a stripper under the name of "melissa" at the local strip club. the two assert that, while not a romantic pair, they are a couple, and care deeply for each other. life continues.
bobby dies when jaiden is offline. he and roier had been exploring a dungeon, and bobby didn't make it out. when roier informs jaiden about what happened, he tells her that there's a chance bobby may be okay, as the server was lagging that day and it might've been enough to retcon his death. all they could do was wait for the server's ruling.
the next day, the census bureau gave them a quest. they needed to wrangle all their friends and make their way to the coordinates given, with the added clause that neither roier nor jaiden could die during the trek. it told them that, if they were to do this, they'd be able to see bobby again. after making it to the designated coordinates and fighting their way through a dungeon, they arrived in a white room full of bobby's favorite things. bobby was there, as promised, but he wouldn't be leaving with them. bobby was dead, and the two were given ten minutes to say their last goodbyes to their son. the two returned to roier's castle to mourn. bobby would always be with them, in the sunsets, and jaiden ran to not miss him before logging off.
she didn't stream for a while, spending her time offline on a secret project. this project ended up being bobby fields, a house she built in the field of roses the three of them had previously explored, calling it her "perfect day". the house was a tribute to bobby, and in her words, it was "perfect", filled with roses and bobby's favorite things, as well as a balcony to overlook the sunset. everything in the house was built for three people.
when she did stream again, she showed the house to roier, explaining what she'd been doing and her reasoning behind it. during said tour, the census bureau appeared, asking jaiden what she'd need to be happy. she replied that the only way she'd truly be happy was the guarantee the eggs' safety, to which the census bureau handed her a series of tasks she'd need to complete in order to fulfill said goal. among these tasks were things like gathering materials, bettering her weapons and pvp skills, and choosing someone to go adventuring with. she, of course, chose roier. while explaining what she needed to baghera, though, the french egg was attacked. jaiden was immediately suspected to having something to do with it, as she'd taken baghera aside for the conversation, and was accused of distracting baghera so there would be one less person guarding pomme. jaiden denied having any involvement, but baghera, alongside a few others, didn't quite believe her.
after discussing the issue with cellbit and philza, she and cellbit talked about the federation, and the dangers of trusting the census bureau. cellbit had previously attempted to infiltrate them, and got himself kidnapped and parts of his memory wiped when he attempted to tell the others about the truth. he also informs jaiden that he and roier are getting married. with his help, the misunderstanding with baghera is largely cleared up, although suspicions aren't fully off jaiden yet. she was most notably mistrusted by forever, who had been asking her about her missions and what the census bureau wanted of her. despite telling him everything she knew, he still thought she was hiding something. to make things worse, sofia, maximus' supercomputer/daughter, had had its satellite broken, something jaiden was also accused of, despite having had no clue who sofia was until that moment.
after finishing her initial tasks, the census bureau gave jaiden a new mission: clear the dungeon it directed her to without dying. it told her she could bring at least one friend, so she took up the mission with bad, etoiles, baghera, and dapper. they cleared the dungeon without her dying, and the census bureau congratulated her on it, saying it would see her soon.
during festa junina, a brazilian holiday, cellbit fake-married quackity in order to see if roier would speak up and interrupt the wedding. at quackity's suggestion, he wanted to see if he could make roier jealous/if roier still loved him, but all it did was make roier angry, and he stormed out of the chapel. jaiden followed to check on him, and it was there that roier revealed that cellbit had admitted to killing his grandpa, abueloier, and that their relationship was (understandably) rocky because of it now. jaiden agreed, and said she didn't know if cellbit was the right choice for him due to the way he'd attempted to get roier back. she cared a lot for him, and didn't want him to end up in a relationship where he was treated badly, like she felt cellbit was treating him then. after talking to roier, she wrote an additional note to cellbit, where she asserted that she didn't think he was right for roier and needed to work on himself before continuing the relationship, as well as if he ever hurt roier again, she would personally hunt him down and kill him.
jaiden was offline for the next few days, and when she returned, it was the day of cellbit and roier's wedding. abueloier hadn't died, it turned out, meaning roier was no longer angry at cellbit, so the wedding was back on! the ceremony was held with, all things considered, fairly minor casualties. the groom were both killed when charlie tried to interrupt, and the spot itself ended up being blown up by quackity, but luckily, everyone was outside of the blast radius at the time. while the after party raged on, jaiden decided to follow quackity, as he'd also split away from the group, and she was suspicious towards what he was planning. she witnessed him speaking to the census bureau, then disappearing down what she presumed to be an elevator. quackity logged off not much later, and jaiden ended up relaying what she saw to bad and philza. they came to the conclusion that quackity had likely been kidnapped. (they were right.) jaiden attempted to talk to the census bureau about it, but it never came, so she decided to log off for the day.
the elections had begun at this point, to which she was hired as foolish's campaign manager/ghostwriter for his speeches. foolish was one of the few islanders who, much like jaiden, didn't fully distrust the census bureau/see it as evil, and the two bonded as foolish asked what he could do to get on the census bureau's good side. foolish ends up being the first person outside from roier that jaiden lets visit bobby fields.
cellbit and jaiden have their first real bonding moment when abueloier shows up again, tormenting the two for a while. the encounter makes jaiden realize that she couldn't fully blame cellbit for killing abueloier earlier, as he's somewhat impossible to deal with. even his own grandson, the brazilian's egg, spent the night attempting to kill him.
after the first presidential debate, jaiden was blown up by the tnt elquackity (quackity's federation replacement) had placed underneath "wilbur's party". in reality, wilbur was nowhere to be seen, and the party was just a ploy in order to kill everyone, including the eggs. fit and his egg uncovered the tnt and got mostly everyone away in time, but due to having crashed shortly before, jaiden logged back in unaware of the danger and got blown up. afterwards, at home, she called to the census bureau again, who appeared this time. a few people had suspected it was the one behind the tnt, but jaiden didn't believe so. despite everything, she still trusts the census bureau. while it laughed at all the questions she asked it, it responded "yes" when she asked if she was in the right to trust it, only enforcing her belief that it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
jaiden would go on to show cellbit and his egg bobby fields after encountering them building starbobby, a cafe near the beach made in bobby's memory. both cellbit and richarlyson (said egg) were overwhelmed with emotions when she showed them around, as it was clear every nook and cranny of the place was filled with overwhelming love she felt for bobby. cellbit confided in her that a huge reasons he trusts her so much is due to the low-key death threat she'd sent him during festa junina, as it made him realize how much she truly loved and cared for the people close to her. additionally, he knew how much roier trusted her, and how much she meant to him. he revealed to her that some people (maximus and forever, although he didn't give her the names) had visited bobby fields without her knowledge, and took pictures of parts of her house. they had thought it was weird and somewhat obsessive, and used it as reasoning to why she may not be trusted, but cellbit only found it beautiful, saying he would likely do the same if richarlyson were to perish. she also showed him her basement, something she had yet to show on-stream, as she'd hastily built it as a sort of panic room after dying and losing all her stuff during the debate. the two of them bonded over both having died during the explosions, before cellbit and richarlyson left her to her own devices.
jaiden was the moderator for the final presidential debate, which went somewhat well, for the most part. cellbit ended up killing himself at the end of it, ending his presidential campaign, as he never had any plans to become president, and was only running to deflect danger away from forever. while she questioned his motives, she had no time to speak to him about it before logging off for the night.
finally, she was given what appeared to be her final task from the census bureau. it instructed her to head to another dungeon thousands of blocks away, something she immediately shared with bad, foolish, cellbit, and richarlyson, as they'd met up with her to check if she would be okay. (cellbit had another reason, as he'd been contacted by an outside force and told to keep track of everything she encountered, or else his son would die. jaiden was referred to as the "blue bird" here, although it's hard to say if that was directed at her specifically, or towards her bird, ari.) it was only after she'd shared everything that the census bureau interrupted and told her to keep things a secret. it was too late at that point, obviously, so jaiden went out on her journey with an invisible party in tow. despite technically not having been allowed to be there, when they arrived at the location, the four invisible members were given permission to help her take down the dungeon, and the group joked about how "coincidental" it was that all five of them were there at the same time. their help ended up being paramount, as the dungeon was extremely difficult, and would've been impossible for jaiden to clear out on her own. the last floor of the dungeon revealed a restricted area, which housed multiple shulker boxes for jaiden to place the supplies she'd collected into, as well as 8 containers of ice that were suspiciously player-sized. after depositing her supplies, a timer appeared on the wall, counting down to a little less than 3 days until . . . something.
cellbit invited jaiden down to the ordo theoristas headquarters, the base which he, maximus, bad, and others use to theorize about events on the island and against the federation. he'd revealed what he'd found during his investigation of the dungeon after everyone had left, and that it had likely been a base for the federation at one point.
back at bobby fields, the census bureau appeared again, revealing that that was not, in fact, the end of her mission, and there was still more that would need to be done. it questioned her again, like it did when she was gifted ari, and jaiden noticed that, weirdly, all the questions were in past tense. she answered them anyways, logging off shortly after.
the day the timer was to hit 0, everyone was once again summoned back to the dungeon. they had to fight their way through once more, though with more members online, it was made relatively easier. once down there, they were told to split into two teams and fix some redstone near spawn. once the redstone was fixed and the buttons were pressed, a train noise was heard, and they all rushed to the train station, where they caught glimpse of a train leaving. while they all rushed after it, they were too late to truly catch up, and the train disappeared into the nether. after a while of bouncing around and theorizing, jaiden ended up in cellbit's castle with roier and richarlyson. cellbit confided in them that richarlyson had been having weird dreams and fits of sleepwalking, and as roier was the server's only therapist, he asked if roier could help. roier agreed to do so, but when cellbit left the room, he admitted to jaiden that he absolutely does not think he can help. cellbit left the two in charge of richarlyson before logging off for the day, and after a while of hanging out, jaiden logged off, too, leaving him in the care of other parents.
and that's everything so far! a few other notes include how she's often depicted as an avian due to her connection with birds, that she and baghera vowed to stick together due to being the only two women on the server, and that she has a close relationship with slimecicle, as well as quackity! she's spent a lot of time with them both, helping charlie home when he was drunk and frequently reaching out to talk to quackity, but i wasn't quite sure how to fit that into the post in a way that made sense ^^

Maribat Ships and My Vibe Explanations
These are based on the most popular tropes and scenarios I've seen particularly for a specific ship, but some are my own vision:) Moodboards I made for each ship, which are partially inspired by the below thoughts, are linked in the ship name.
Brucinette:
Boss x Secretary trope or Socialite meets Other Socialite and Both Discover each other is Less Shallow than they Thought
Alternatively,
Hero x Villain Love story.
Look, we all know Bruce has a bad track record with his Rogues and also Love in general
Black Cat Mari is the most popular, probably, but I think we should see more Villain/ Morally Grey Mari with other Miraculi
Not my favourite ship but it can be fun
Particularly when we add Dad Bruce and Mari gets to adopt the Batkids and be a Cool MomTM.
Dickinette:
Often a Villain x Hero romance, usually Black Cat Marinette and Nightwing.
A good trope to be sure, but I think we should spice it up more.
Vampire Dick Truthers (you know who you are) have a point with their Vampire Dick and Mari fics. Why not make Dick the villain in Mari's Rogue Gallery???
Overall a great trope, especially if you really delve into their characters: both are 'sunshine' characters who fight everyday to be the nice, kind heroes everyone thinks they are and expects them to be, even though it's the hardest route to take.
Jasonette:
(I'm biased as it's my #1 Maribat ship, but I'll try not to go on too long >.<)
Villain x Hero? Hero x Hero? Amazing, outstanding. What about Villain x Villain? I myself would love to see more Rogue Jason and Rogue Mari fics.
Any AU is amazing. I admit to having a fondness for Mob Boss Jason, partly because he is one in canon, at least for a while, and because I'm addicted to dark/mafia romance novels. Lieutenant Mari? Yes, please. Rival Mob Boss Mari? Heck yeah! Bat-affiliate Mari? Gimme. Please.
The amount of character exploration you could do if you wrote a romance where they actually stayed together, looking at you, DC is intriguing. Would Jason change for someone he loved? Would he give up crime lording? Would Mari accept him anyways but then they'd have to deal with one half running from the law/vigilantes and the other half being on the vigilantes' side?
Also, soft Jason. Nerding out over books and music and fashion and appreciating the fine things in life and meeting this cute fashion designer with a penchant to listen to Jagged Stone-
So many AU opportunities!! Bakery AU! Mafia AU! Coffee Shop AU! Meetcute at the Museum AU!...
Okay I'll move on now:(
Timari:
LISTEN
This ship IS THE DEFINITION OF THE CEO X SECRETARY TROPE!
I need more, I don't care if it's overused
Also, rival hackers or geniuses.
OR COFFEE SHOP AU
They're both coffee monsters, it's perfect
No I don't care that there are two dozen coffee shop Timari AUs, give me more.
Daminette:
ACADEMIC RIVALS TO LOVERS
Or just rivals to lovers is fine too
YOU REALLY THINK THESE TWO 'MUST BE THE TOP IN CLASS' WOULDN'T BE FIGHTING OVER GRADES AND THEN PAIRED UP ON AN ASSIGNMENT BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO INTENSE TO WORK WITH ANYONE ELSE AND THEN THEY HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER AT ALL TIMES LEST THE OTHER SABOTAGE THEIR PROJECT AND THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE-
anyways
I'm not even into HP but I want a Hogwarts AU with these two-
or any dark academia rivals to lovers au
Roynette:
Enemies or Rivals to Lovers
It's just a simple misunderstanding, as all large rifts start off with.
There's a translation issue or an eavesdropping that is taken out of context
(they're both idiots your honour)
But then something happens and they have to work together or they're made to talk and they realize it's all just a misunderstanding
And then they're like... " while we're clearing the air...so uh, I kinda have a crush on you'
"no way, me too!!"
And Mari meets Lian (or maybe that's what starts this, Jason and Mari are hanging out babysitting Lian and Roy comes to pick Lian up and they start talking and and and-)
And Mari loves Lian immediately of course, who wouldn't?
And so Roy likes her more because she likes Lian so automatically she's not as bad as he thought, and Lian really likes her too
And then they fall in love and Jason and Lian are the master matchmakers behind the scenes
You can pry OTP Jason & Lian setting up Roynette out of my cold dead hands
Konette:
I haven't seen or read a ton of Konette, but they usually meet at the Titans
Friends to Lovers 100%
They're both quiet and new and feeling out the dynamics
so they're often pushed together on purpose or by accident because the others are just so loud and chaotic
And then they become BFFs and are less inclined to join the others' chaos and so spend more time together, and so the cycle continues
And then one day something happens
Kon is Kryptonian and Mari had the Miraculous, they're usually the least-damaged members, but something happens, there's Kryptonite or magic or Something and one or both gets hurt.
The other jumps in front of them to take the blow because they can't let the other get hurt
"Why did you do that?!"
"I couldn't let you get hurt. You need to save our teammates."
Then the hurt one faints or passes out and the other confesses and thinks they can't hear them
They get back to the Tower safely and get treated and wake up and then they see the other
"Did you say you loved me, when I was passed out?"
"You heard that? Uh...yeah, I love you."
"I love you too!"
I haven't read much of any of the other ships to get a good feel on them, so I'm stopping here:)

Comfortably numb
Is there anybody in there?
“Anna?” Elsa said, blinking a few times as she realised her sister was standing in the kitchen, her forearms casually resting on the top rail of the opposite chair. “What are you doing here?”
“Hey, you.” Anna smiled at her and sat down on the chair. “Kristoff called me this morning. He said you weren't doing so well. I wanted to give you some time to get better, but I just had to come, you know? Make sure you are alright after everything that happened.”
“I'm fine.” The answer came automatically, and Elsa wondered how long she had stayed sitting there, unmoving. It couldn’t be long, if not, Gerda would’ve dragged her to bed. She remembered ending a call with Marshall but she couldn't for the life of her remember what she had planned to do afterwards. Hadn't she been planning to go to bed? She raised her head and saw Anna, looking at her with a puzzled expression. How long had she stayed silent? Her mind kept lagging and the fog kept getting thicker. "You shouldn't have bothered coming. It's just a fever."
"No offence," Anna said, dropping her smile. "But you look terrible. Are you sure you're okay?"
"The drugs make me dizzy, that's all." No matter how hard she tried to downplay it, something told Elsa she was not fooling anyone this time. She was feeling weaker than she had in years and the dull ache all over her body was becoming difficult to ignore.
"Do you want me to come back another time? I totally don't mind—"
"Stay," Elsa ordered, not giving Anna much of an option. "This nausea will go away…" She couldn’t remember the amount of times she had repeated that over the day and hoped her sister could become a needed distraction.
"It’s nice to see you’re finally eating something.” Anna pointed with her head to the brunost toasts that were still waiting to be eaten. “Seriously, I wonder how you manage to go on for hours without food in your stomach. We skipped lunch today and I can barely think of anything else.”
"You like it, don't you?” Elsa pushed the tray closer to Anna, showing no intention of eating the food in it. She had given her best trying to drink the tea Gerda had made, but all she had managed was half a cup.
Anna’s cheeks flushed red. "Are you sure?"
Elsa smiled and thought of how truly endearing her sister could be without realising. Her eyes were shining at the mere prospect of eating something as simple as some toast with cheese on top. She pushed the tray closer and nodded.
Without a second thought, Anna grabbed one of the toasts and took a bite without decorum. "Thank you. I love these," she said with her mouth full.
Elsa smiled again and enjoyed the silence that surrounded them while Anna preoccupied herself with the food. Even if it only lasted a few seconds.
And true to it, Anna carried on the conversation as soon as her mouth could articulate the sounds. "So…?" she said, as if she was expecting Elsa to start talking.
"Huh?"
"Will you tell me what happened the other night?"
"What do you mean?"
"The last time we saw each other," Anna began to say as she grabbed a second toast. "You left Kristoff’s place to go after Marshall. You can’t expect me not to ask about it." She then took another big bite, making Elsa wonder what would happen if Anna ever had to go without food for more than ten hours.
“So…” Anna insisted when she noticed Elsa had yet again got distracted.
It had only been a day and a half since those things had happened, but to Elsa it felt much longer. The fever had made her lose track of time in the worst sense and she felt the hours stretch for as long as they could at times. It was yet another way she felt she was losing control and she couldn’t stand it.
"We talked and…" Sighing tiredly, Elsa tried to come up with something to say that wouldn’t force her to talk about all that again. "You were right, I guess. I had to have more faith in him."
"I knew it!" Anna said with a triumphant laugh. "Now give me the details."
"There isn’t much to say." She was happy about having talked to Marshmallow, but she didn't have the energy to truly dwell on it, at least not the way Anna was expecting.
Just as Anna was opening her mouth to complain, Gerda walked into the kitchen, giving a fleeting glance to the tray in front of Anna. Her mouth twitched in disapproval for just a split of a moment and Elsa looked away, not wanting to see her disappointed look.
"Sorry to interrupt," Gerda said with a smile, pretending to ignore Elsa’s lack of appetite. "It’s time for Elsa to take these."
Elsa pulled a face as soon as her mother placed the small pill cup in front of her. “Is it really necessary?”
“Anna, would you like something to drink?” Gerda asked her daughter-in-law, paying no mind to Elsa’s question.
“I guess it is,” Elsa murmured to herself, knowing perfectly well when Gerda’s lack of an answer was an answer in itself.
Anna smiled and answered Gerda's question before she turned to Elsa to continue their conversation. “You didn’t return. You must have gone somewhere.”
“I just went home.” Elsa made an effort to sit up straighter on her chair and picked the cup, not without looking at the pills inside with disgust.
“Kristoff said Marshall brought you here yesterday,” Anna suggested, hoping it would get Elsa to say something about it.
To Anna’s disappointment, Elsa didn’t answer. She was too concerned about the pills she had to take and the presence of her mother, who was still in the kitchen. She was certain her Gerda wouldn't leave any time soon, and she needed to find a way to take them without making her stomach turn. Deep down she knew her legs wouldn't support her weight on the way to the bathroom if she couldn't keep them in.
Being so focused on the medicine, Elsa failed to notice Gerda, who was calling Anna's attention over her shoulder. She had been paying attention to their conversation and decided to point out one important detail Anna hadn't noticed.
Anna understood there was something the old woman was trying to tell her, but she couldn’t interpret what it was. Until, after a few seconds of Gerda’s exasperated looks and mimics, the realisation dawned on her. Gerda was playfully trying to show her Elsa's extremely oversized t-shirt. A t-shirt Anna was sure didn’t belong to Kristoff.
The moment Elsa raised her eyes again, she was surprised to see Anna's accusatory finger pointing at her. "You stinker…” Anna said, a grin slowly drawing on her face as she spoke. "You're wearing one of his t-shirts!"
Elsa put the cup down and looked at her sister again before she looked down at the clothes she was wearing. She breathed out in irritation when she noticed she was in fact still wearing the t-shirt Marshall had lent her the previous day.
“You two spent the night together, didn’t you?” Anna amusingly accused, not being able to hide her excitement.
“No, we didn’t.” Elsa knew there was nothing she could say or do at this point to convince Anna otherwise, but somehow she had to try. At least to save Marshall from whatever story Anna was coming up with in her head.
Before Anna had the chance to protest, however, Gerda spoke again. And what Elsa originally thought to be her mother coming to her rescue, turned out to be an act of treachery. "It’s none of my business," Gerda said, pretending to be on Elsa's side. "But the blanket in her room is not hers either."
Turning around, as fast as her headache and dizziness allowed her, Elsa fulminated the old woman with a simple look. "Gerda, please, you’re not helping," she said between her teeth.
"Thank you for showing me your daughter is a barefaced liar, Gerda," Anna laughed and Elsa wished the earth could swallow her at that moment.
Once again, she couldn't help thinking how stupid she had been for not trusting Marshall the night she lost control of her powers. Staying at the mountain and talking to him — even if she suffered a second panic attack — had to be better than suffering from high fever, pain, and now feeling as if she'd die of embarrassment. "You two are getting it all wrong," she said in a small voice.
Not knowing what to do to hide her mortification, she leaned on the table and hid her face in the crook of her good arm. She could feel her head becoming extremely hot, making her feel even sicker than before. She wasn't sure if it was the embarrassment or her body choosing the worst possible time to raise its temperature, but she wanted the insufferable feeling to go away.
"Not to go against your word, dear.” She could hear Gerda say, as she lay a comforting hand on her back. “But, you’re the one who came home in your friend’s arms, wrapped up in one of his blankets and wearing his clothes. I think we are getting it just right."
"I don’t know why I even bother," Elsa murmured, her arm and the wooden table muffling her voice. Even if she had a justified reason to explain everything that had happened, she was too tired to deal with any of it anymore. All she wanted to do was go to bed and ignore Anna and Gerda, as well as the headache.
The older woman smiled sadly at her daughter and gently stroked her back. She reminded Elsa to take her pills, and with an excuse of needing to make a phone call in the other room, she left both girls alone once again.
Even if deep down Anna knew there was no need to keep dragging Elsa over the mud, she couldn’t let the chance of finally knowing what was really going on between her sister and the mountaineer escape. "You’re a terrible liar, you know?" she commented nonchalantly, unaware of Elsa's discomfort. “At this point I don’t even know why you try.”
"You make a big deal out of everything," Elsa said in a low voice.
The table tilted under the palm of her hand, and she raised her head to try and regain some stability. Her breathing was becoming more elaborated and her head was spinning. Knowing she couldn’t stay where she was for much longer, she tried to stand up but her legs wouldn’t cooperate, forcing her to use both arms to hold her weight on the table.
"Of course I make a big deal out of everything you two do. You're the only one blind enough not to see—  Hey! Wow, Elsa, are you okay?” Anna stood up and tried to catch her before she fell to the ground.
Cursing out loud at the pain, Elsa let her body slump into the chair before Anna reached her. The sudden movement and pain that coursed through her hand left Elsa gasping for breath. She wasn’t supposed to be feeling this way. It was just a fever…
Get you on your feet again.
“What?” Elsa said breathlessly, looking up and finding Anna leaning over her.
“I asked if you were okay. What happened?”
Realising her mind was playing tricks, bringing back memories she wished she could erase, she nodded and tried to get a hold of her breathing. "Can you help me get to my room?"
--
"Help you get–” Anna repeated, still trying to make sense of everything that had happened in an instant. She was aware Elsa had not been feeling well, yet she hadn't imagined her body was so weak it wouldn't support its own weight. “Are you sure you're okay?"
“Please…” Elsa begged Anna to help her and she cursed under her breath for not noticing Elsa was so sick sooner. “I don't want Gerda to worry. The dizziness will go away, but I need to lay down."
"Sure, let me– I'm sorry,” Anna said as she put an arm around her sister’s waist. “I didn't realise. I'm sorry."
After insisting Elsa leaned all her weight on her, Anna walked her out of the kitchen and straight into her bedroom. The moment they got there, Elsa allowed her body to sink into the bed with a heavy sight.
Sitting on the bed next to her sister, Anna cupped Elsa's face with one hand and exclaimed, “God, Elsa… You’re burning.”
“I can’t feel my powers anymore.”
Anna couldn't understand what she meant, but something told her Elsa had no energy left to explain it, and so she didn't ask.
“Elsa…” Anna called her name as she gently pushed her bangs away from her eyes. “Are you sure you don't want us to call a doctor? You don't look good.”
“All he does is put me to sleep,” Elsa explained through laboured breaths. “Making me sicker by the time I wake up again. I’ll be fine, I promise.”
Anna looked at her with a pained expression, feeling conflicted. She knew how much Elsa despised the way drugs, and being in the presence of a doctor, made her feel, but she looked too sick to convince her she would get well on her own anytime soon. “I don’t know, Elsa. At least we should let Gerda know.”
“You know,” Elsa said, ignoring Anna’s concern. She was looking at her, but she didn't seem to be able to stay focused. “When I was a child I had a fever. Now I've got that feeling once again.”
‘I had the worst fever I’ve ever had that night…’ The memory of their conversation about her childhood all those months ago slammed back into Anna's memories, making her shudder. Was her sister feeling the same way she had felt back then? “I'm calling Gerda.”
But before Anna could leave her side, Elsa stopped her by holding her wrist. The grab was weak, but it meant enough to stop Anna from leaving. "Els, please, at least let me go get your medicine."
"Stay…" Elsa insisted, tightening her hold on Anna's wrist slightly.
She was certain Elsa's frown was meant to appease her pain and Anna felt like an idiot for letting her sister fool her. The first thing she had noticed when she got in the kitchen was how weak and tired she looked sitting alone, unaware of her presence. It should've been plain obvious she had been lying about the way she was feeling.
Making up her mind, Anna decided to sit back down next to Elsa, hoping she would fall asleep soon. Only then, she would tell Gerda what was going on. She wouldn't be respecting her sister's wishes exactly, but at least she'd let her sleep for a while before Gerda or anyone started prodding at her.
Absent-mindedly, Anna began to comb her sister's bangs with her fingers. Trying to keep them away from her eyes and not let them stick to her clammy forehead. She stayed by her side for several minutes until, as she had expected, Elsa's eyelids began to close. In less than half an hour, Elsa fell into a deep sleep and Anna took the opportunity to go out of the room and find Gerda.
She had only walked a few steps into the living room when she found her standing by the door with Kai and an older man she didn’t know.
"Anna, I'm glad you're here,” Gerda said, walking towards her as soon as she saw her. “I was on my way to tell you and Elsa that the doctor has arrived."
Breathing out in relief, Anna nodded. "I’m so glad to hear that. She fell asleep some minutes ago, but wasn't doing so well.”
"Something told me she wasn’t being honest." Walking past Anna, Gerda went into Elsa's room. "She's gotten worse in the last couple of hours. I called Jonnas as soon as I noticed her fever had gone up again."
"She said she was feeling dizzy when we were in the kitchen earlier." She didn't think 'dizzy' would describe the way Elsa almost fell to the ground, but she had no better word for it. "I had to help her get to bed. I think she's in pain too."
"Pain?" Gerda said, turning back to her. "Like a headache?"
"I don't know. I don't know how to describe it.” Anna said, getting closer. Gerda was already sitting by Elsa’s side and about to measure her temperature. “You could see she was trying to hide it. She didn’t want to worry you."
Gerda shook her head a few times, worry written all over her face. “If only she’d let me help her, it wouldn’t come to this.” A frown appeared on Gerda’s face when she checked the thermometer. “I'll let the doctor in. You can stay if you want, Anna, but we need to make sure—"
"Don't worry about me," Anna said, shaking her hands in front of her. "I was planning on going home, but I wanted to make sure someone checked on her before I did."
Gerda smiled at her and then turned her attention back to her daughter. "Could you please tell Jonnas to come into Elsa's room? He's talking with Kai in the living room."
With a nod, Anna exited her sister's room and headed to the living room to give the doctor the message as well as pick up her things.
"It's not my place to say if what happened was right or wrong." Anna heard the man say to Kai from the hallway. "But all his colleagues were on his side. He's an emotional man and made a mistake, Kai."
"He's been spending a lot of time with Elsa lately."
Kai's seriousness caught Anna's attention, and she couldn't stop herself from listening a bit more while she picked her jacket and the bag she had been carrying.
"You say that as if it's a bad thing."
"I'm afraid he might do something to her, Jonnas."
Jonnas laughed and Anna thought it didn't make much sense for the doctor to be acting so nonchalantly while Kai seemed so concerned.
"Do you want my opinion?" Jonnas said, resting a comforting hand on Kai's shoulder. "He's a little rough around the edges, but he has a sense of justice worth admiring. He wears his heart upon his sleeve too. I'd say it's a good thing if he keeps Elsa company in the mountains."
It certainly seemed like they were talking about Marshall but, no matter how intrigued she was, it was not her place to ask. She gathered her things and decided to stop their conversation before they got carried away. "Excuse me, Dr. Jonnas?" Anna called their attention. "Gerda asked me to tell you you should go see Elsa. She's in her bedroom."
Turning in her direction, the man smiled and thanked her for letting him know. He picked a bag he had at his feet and left her standing with Kai.
"How's Elsa?" Kai asked, ignoring that she had been listening to their conversation.
"I think it's a good thing the doctor came to see her."
--
Closing the door behind her, Anna looked at her watch and wondered which bus would be best for her to take. It was still early evening, but she had planned to have dinner with her parents and she wanted to have a moment to talk with Idunn while she cooked. Watching her mother cook was one of Anna's favourite family moments ever since she was a kid. And one she wished Elsa could one day enjoy alongside them, but she was trying to stay realistic about it. If she was honest, the day the three of them could sit down to talk seemed too far into the future to even picture it at that moment.
Finally making up her mind on which bus to take, she walked a few metres down the street and noticed there was a familiar SUV parked only a house away from the Bjorgmans'. A mischievous smile drew on her face and she walked straight to the vehicle.
Anna knocked twice on the passenger's window, and laughed at the driver's startled face. "I knew this truck was familiar." Anna said loudly, making sure Marshall heard her from inside.
Marshall leaned over the passenger’s seat and rolled down the window. He looked quite annoyed at her interruption, but Anna knew he was probably only ashamed he had been caught.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, leaning on her elbows over the open window.
"The man who just entered the house is Dr Nielsen, isn’t he?" Marshall asked, not paying attention to Anna's question.
"Is his first name Jonnas?"
Breathing out, doing nothing to conceal his annoyance, he nodded.
"Then that's him. What's wrong?" Deep down she hoped his discontent had nothing to do with the kind of professional the man was.
"Is Mr Bjorgman in the house?"
There was clearly something on Marsh's mind and Anna was too curious on what it was to start complaining about him ignoring her questions. "The two of them were talking in the living room when I left."
"Damn it," Marshal said under his breath and rested his forehead on the steering wheel.
"Everything okay, big guy?" Anna couldn't pretend she wasn't intrigued at that point. One thing was for him to be asking about the doctor and another too different was Kai's presence to be a problem.
"It doesn’t matter…" he said and leaned over towards the passenger's door once again to unlock it. He then gestured to Anna to get inside. "How’s Elsa?" he asked as soon as Anna was sitting by his side.
"You could easily knock on the door and visit her, you know?” she said playfully. “I just did."
Breathing out exasperatedly once again, Marshall tried to keep his irritation under control. "Forget about it."
"I’m just messing with you." Anna laughed and gently pushed his arm. "So, why are you lurking in the shadows again?"
"I think it's pretty obvious."
Anna looked at him and then at Kai and Gerda's house that could be seen from where they were parked. "You know, I fully support you and I’d like for you to become my brother-in-law one day, but this is borderline stalker behaviour."
Turning red as a beet, Marshall avoided Anna's gaze. "I'm not stalking. I was trying to make up my mind about visiting Elsa when you knocked on my window."
The fact he ignored her comment about them becoming family made Anna grin from ear to ear. His silence on the matter was all the confirmation that she needed at this point. "You don't need to be so shy, you know? Her family won't mind you visiting."
"I wouldn't be so sure," he said, still not meeting her eyes.
"Don’t be ridiculous." She felt as if he was exaggerating, but she could remember how nervous she'd been about meeting the Bjorgmans the first time. She could understand Marshall's apprehension about making the right impression. "You mean the world to Elsa, there's no way they won't—"
"Kai kicked me out last night."
"—welcome you and make you feel… Wait, what?” Anna stopped talking abruptly, trying to make sense of what he had just said. She couldn’t think of a single reason Kai could do something like that. The man was even sweeter than Gerda, for heaven’s sake. "No way,” she said in disbelief. “Did something happen between you two?"
"He blames me for what happened to Elsa.”
"Why would he blame—?"
“We argued and he kicked me out." He stopped her before she sidetracked and their conversation ended up revolving around himself. "Can you tell me how Elsa’s doing?"
It took a moment for Anna to come out of her shock, as she kept trying to find reasonable explanations to Kai acting in such a way. But she decided to leave it for another time.
"I’m not sure… She was too sick to even stand.” She felt awful about giving him bad news, but the last thing she’d do was lie to him. Maybe knowing Elsa’s condition would give him the push he needed to finally go knock on the Bjorgmans’ door and visit her.
"Did you get to talk to her?"
The concern written in his eyes melted Anna's heart, making her realise what Elsa meant when she said he was the softest person she knew. “She didn't say much,” Anna said, shaking her head. “She was weak, dizzy… and I think she was in pain.”
“How about the fever?”
“High.”
Marshall ran his good hand through his hair and let it rest on the back of his neck, softly massaging it to release some tension. “She called me earlier today, she insisted she was okay but– I don't know…”
Anna looked at the Bjorgmans’ house and wondered if there was something serious going on with Elsa. Gerda was more worried than she remembered ever seeing her, and now Marshall seemed to be concerned as well. Sure, they both loved Elsa, but they were usually more calm and collected than the rest of them. “The doctor's with her right now… Is there a reason we should be worried?”
“Ugh? No. No…” He hesitated. “Don’t worry. Are you staying with Kristoff? Is he picking you up?”
“Oh?” The sudden change of topic made her wonder if there was something he wasn’t telling her; but then again, Anna had no reason not to trust him. If the situation was truly concerning, she was certain he’d be knocking down the Bjorgmans’ door by now. “No. He’s working late today. I was on my way to take a bus home when I saw your car.”
“I'll drive you home, then.” Not waiting for an answer, Marshall started the car and drove off.
“It's not necessary,” Anna tried to say, but he was already focused on his task.
“I’ll feel more useful taking you home than sitting in the car, debating about knocking on Kai’s door or not.”
Understanding he needed to feel useful somehow, Anna ended up accepting his offer. She told him her parents’ address and then let him drive her there in almost complete silence. One thing was to be annoying and talkative when she wanted to get on his nerves or tease him about Elsa, but another thing was to act that way when she could see he was feeling so uneasy about everything that was going on.
To Anna’s surprise, however, he broke the silence before she did. “You’re rarely this quiet,” he said, turning to look at her.
“So… You now know about Elsa, right?” Anna asked, understanding that too quiet could be as bothersome as too talkative sometimes.
With a small smile, he nodded. “We talked the other night. I’ll be honest, I don't understand it. But I want to try…”
“We were all there…” Anna agreed, understanding exactly how he felt. Even if she had been completely accepting of Elsa’s powers, she couldn’t deny the strange feeling she got whenever she looked at her the first few weeks. It wasn’t fear. It wasn't a lack of comfort around her either. But there was this constant feeling of things not making sense. Even to this day, whenever she stopped to think about her sister, Anna had to accept Elsa didn’t make sense. And no doubt Marshall was feeling the same way. “I mean, we still are,” she clarified. “I don’t think any of us really understand.”
“Have you known for a long time?”
“Six or seven months… It seems longer, though.” On the inside, Anna felt as if she had known Elsa for years at this point. So much had happened between their families, it almost felt ridiculous to say she had known about her powers for only seven months.
“I wish she would’ve had more faith in me…” He said in a low voice. His eyes were fixed in the lights and cars in front of him, yet his mind was far away. “At least enough to tell me before all of this happened.”
“She didn’t ‘tell me’ tell me,” Anna reassured him. By all means, the two of them had been friends for a lot longer than Elsa and she had, it was only logical he felt somewhat hurt about finding out several months after her. Though the truth is there was no reason to compare. Things had been so extraordinarily different for them both. To mention one thing, she owed her friendship with Elsa to an accident in which she had almost died. “She lost control and the truth came to light. She didn’t tell anyone as far as I’m aware. She’s afraid of people leaving her behind, that’s why it’s hard for her to open up. But I’m sure she’s thrilled with the idea of you knowing. You mean so much more to her than you imagine.”
Even if he tried to keep a straight face, Anna noticed the small smile that drew on his face, making her smile as well. It was in moments like this Anna wished Elsa could see Marshall, truly see him, and notice the immeasurable devotion he had for her. He probably smiled that way in front of her too, but her sister was too blind to see it.
The two of them remained silent for the rest of the trip after that. They were both absorbed in their own thoughts and the atmosphere was too peaceful to disturb with small talk. When Marshall finally came to a full stop in front of her parents’ house, Anna turned to him and thanked him for the ride.
“It’s the least I could do.” Marshall said with an honest smile. “You stood by my side the other night, telling Elsa to give us a chance to talk.”
Anna felt proud she had stood by what she thought was right that night, and knowing Marshall appreciated it, made her feel even better about it. At least she hadn't intervened for naught. “My pleasure.”
Getting out of the car, Anna realised it wasn't usual for them to have a chance to talk so openly to one another. She could see Marshall was slowly but steadily letting her in, and allowing her to see a side he usually reserved for Elsa exclusively. Taking advantage of this strange opportunity and Marshall's good predisposition, Anna dared say, “Could I ask you a favour?"
"Sure."
"Please, go visit her.” It may seem as if Anna was just teasing him once again, though she truly wanted Marshall to see Elsa. There were things her sister only confided in him, and she was certain Elsa would love to see him. “She couldn’t even keep her head up but she took the time to call you. You have to agree with me that means something."
"Stop playing tricks,” he said, his voice serious.
"No need to be so distrustful,” Anna complained. “It’s not like you haven’t won her affection already. She’s wearing your clothes after all…” She rejoiced in watching his stoic attitude crumbling and being replaced by deep mortification. “See you, big guy."
She had only walked a few metres when Marshall called her again, making Anna smile. She was certain he had finally come up with an excuse.
“Anna, wait! Wait,” he repeated as he came out of the vehicle. “I have something for you. I just remembered.”
“Something for me?”
“When Elsa called me earlier today, she said to please bring these clothes back.” He handed her a brown paper bag. “I think it’s easier to just give them to you directly. I washed them this morning.”
Looking inside the bag, she noticed there were in fact clothes inside. It was not a joke or something of the sort. “Clothes?”
“The ones she was wearing yesterday?” Marshall tried to explain. His flushed face made Anna smile again, but she couldn’t come up with something to say, too surprised about the clothes in her hand. “She said they’re yours and insisted I bring them. For a moment I thought she was afraid of me losing them or something.”
“Are you sure she said they were mine?” She took the hoodie out of the bag and opened her eyes in surprise when she noticed the worn out stamp on its front. It was the one they had both been talking about the night they went out looking for food.
“Yes,” Marshal insisted. “Do you want me to take them to Elsa anyway? I thought it was easier this way.”
“No,” Anna said, swiftly putting the things inside the bag once again. “No, it’s okay. Thank you for washing them. And thanks again for the ride.” She couldn’t really explain how Elsa had got her clothes, but Anna was certain she hadn’t left them in her house and much less lent them.
--
His conversation with Anna kept replaying in Marshall’s head on his way to the Bjorgmans’. His brain kept telling him not to trust Anna’s word, there always existed the possibility of her trying to play tricks on him or Elsa, and he was not willing to walk straight into one of her ruses. But despite what his most sensible side kept repeating, his heart urged him to go and see Elsa. First and foremost, he wanted to make sure she was getting the medical help she needed. Next in order, was finding out if she had called him earlier because she actually wanted him by her side. And if that were the case, then he would fight tooth and nail until Kai allowed him to stay. He wasn’t planning on leaving her side until she said otherwise. He knew coming to a common ground with Bjorgman was going to be difficult, but he wasn’t planning on giving up so easily.
He knew there existed the possibility of things going south easily, but he wasn’t planning on making a u-turn and going back to the mountain this time. No matter how tempting it was. He needed to face the music and be the bigger person if he wanted to see Elsa and stay by her side for as long as she needed him.
As he was getting closer to the Bjorgmans' household, some blue and white lights called his attention. The yellow vehicle was parked a few blocks ahead, right in front of his destination, and it made Marshall’s blood run cold. He had driven those ambulances long enough to recognise them from a distance and know the blinking lights meant there was an emergency.
Once he was in front of the house, he parked his car as best as he could, without wasting too much time, and he stepped out to see what was going on. As a former paramedic he knew how incredibly inconvenient it was to work with people gathering around, but still he couldn’t stop himself from dashing to the front door of the house which was wide open.
From the threshold, he could hear people giving orders and he knew it was a matter of time until the paramedics carried someone to the ambulance. Not wanting to interrupt their work, he made an effort to stay outside the house, silently begging they weren’t there for Elsa. To his consternation, a few moments later a pair of paramedics walked out of Elsa’s room rolling a gurney with them.
Marshall stepped back, clearing their path, and he tried to take a moment to calm his racing heart. He knew what the men were doing was part of a routine procedure. One he had done hundreds of times. And he reminded himself that Elsa being taken to a hospital didn’t mean anything in particular. But, regardless of it all, as soon as the paramedics walked out the house and he saw Elsa struggling to breathe, his own breath caught in his throat.
A sudden need to feel useful and help pushed him to their side, offering his help. It was then he realised one of the paramedics was one of his former colleagues. He noticed Karl stopping for a fraction of a second, almost giving him a task, but the man then shook his head, stopping himself in time. "I need you to step back."
"Karl, please—"
"You hated people who did this, Marshall, step back," he ordered, and Marshall obeyed.
People getting in the way only made the work more difficult, he knew that, even if his heart told him he was supposed to help the girl on that gurney. He shook his head and he cursed under his breath for letting the situation affect him so much.
Nielsen and Gerda came out of the house a moment after, Nielsen wasting no time in giving the paramedics some orders Marshall couldn't quite hear. And Gerda, on her part, stopped halfway to the ambulance, coming to a stop only to talk with her husband.
“Find Elsa’s medical record. The green folder.” She ordered. “I'll call you as soon as I can."
"Are you going to the central hospital?"
“I don’t know.” She yelled, as she hurried to the ambulance.
“Why?”
"It's too far away. People are commuting at this hour and it's an emergency…" Marshall answered automatically, not even thinking about the fact that Bjorgman had asked his wife, who was already getting in the ambulance, and not him.
With surprise, Kai turned to look at him, and even if his eyes narrowed for a short moment, the old man brushed aside their previous confrontations and said, "You were a paramedic, kid, were you not? What am I supposed to do in this situation? Is there anything I can do?"
"Not much,” he said honestly. His attention on the ambulance moving and the siren that had just turned on. Being on their side meant waiting, no matter how much they hated it. “It's either watch them go and hope for a call soon enough, or follow them."
When he didn’t answer, Marshall looked at Kai and immediately noticed his trembling hands. He was so nervous he couldn’t think straight, making his experience as a police officer useless at that point. Feeling bad for the old man, he offered the only thing he could. "Come on, we'll follow," he suggested. "No one will tell us anything when we get there, but at least you won't be waiting for a call in an empty house."
"I should—" Turning around, Kai looked at the garage door, debating what to do.
"You're in no condition to drive right now, Mr Bjorgman. Go get the folder. I'll drive you to the hospital and back if you need. Don’t worry."
--
She could sense people around her. They were moving her, holding her, keeping her in place. And even though her mind cried for her to stay awake and alert, she realised didn’t care too much this time. She had lived through this before. She couldn’t remember when, but she recognised the feeling: The shortness of breath. The pain. She was at the mercy of strangers once again and her memories served her well to remind her there was no point in fighting. No matter how distressingly familiar it felt, she didn’t have the strength.
A man placed a mask over her face, but for the first time in her life, she didn’t care. She welcomed being deprived of all sensations.
“You'll be fine, Elsa. I promise.”
The voice felt distant but she recognised it.
“I’ll be by your side at all times.” The voice raised her hand and placed a soft kiss on its palm. “I promise.”
She forced an eyelid to open and from the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of Gerda. She wasn’t sure if it was real or part of her delusion, but in the numbness and loneliness she felt, the old woman became her anchor, and she allowed her mind to drift off to sleep.

Any Pink Floyd fans out there? Did you see what I did? I’m proud of it. As several other titles and chapters in this story, this chapter was inspired by music. This time around it was Pink Floyd’s song Comfortably Numb. I recommend you listen to it if you haven't. It's a masterpiece.
About the chapter, it wasn’t difficult to plan, but it was to execute. I couldn’t find the character’s inner voices. I found myself writing and rewriting scenes all the time. But, I like how it turned out.
About the cliffhanger. This time I tried, my cat knows I tried as hard as I could not to end the chapter in a cliffhanger, but no matter which scene I chose, it felt like one. So, at the end I said, “Oh, f*ck it” and ended it here. I’m sorry.
Feel free to leave all the comments you want. I don’t mind you cursing me. And as always, while you’re at it, let me know what you think of the chapter! Haha.
Thank you all for your reviews and awesome comments. They make my day.
I hope you have a great weekend and that we can read each other soon.
Take care.

Devotion - Chapter 4: "Four More Heroes"
Some people face their internal troubles… others adopt children so they can ignore it. (Aka, Dev is basically batman in that way)
AO3 Link
Previous Tumblr Links: 1, 2, 3
Dev stayed dormant for a little while, just residing in the sort of mindscape of the Golden Sword before he reached out and began to wander the Sacred Realm.
The Sacred Realm was... dull by now, after the time he spent there when he had first become a sword spirit, and just the sheer brightness of it... Even if the light rapidly replenished his magic and therefore his energy, spirit, and his ability to function, it was a lot.
Then he heard whispers.
"You think he's real? Or another lost ghost? — I don't know... I don't know how he could've even gotten here."
Dev turned, eyes landing exactly where the voice came from. It was just one voice, though disjointed and a little staticky, broken apart and shattered yet mended as one. The voice went silent the moment he looked the direction the source was.
"You're not as quiet as you think you are," he said bluntly. "Who are you? How and why are you here?"
Nobody should be here.
A kid came out from around a corner. Dev stared at the kid in the Sacred Realm. His soul was familiar, but it wasn't one he knew.
The kid stared at him, giving a weak smile. He wore a multicolored tunic and looked a bit unsure.
Dev softened. The soul was—that alone led him to being kind, to trusting them. There was divine courage, though it had faded and was just a ghost of itself, but it was there and it was inside this boy.
"Hey, are you alright?" Dev asked.
"I... Well, umm..." they glanced around. "I... Don't know."
"You don't know if you're alright?" Dev chuckled softly, he moved closer very slowly and carefully.
They made a slight face. "No, it's... Where am I?"
"You don't know?"
"No... sir."
Dev knelt in front of them. "My name's Dev. What's yours?"
"It's..." they hesitated, looking confused before it visibly hit them. "I don't know." They looked at Dev with maybe a bit of fear and grief in their eyes. "I don't know my name."
"What do you remember about yourself?" Dev asked softly.
The kid shook his head. "I... We don't. We were... just here."
"Well, kid. You're in the Sacred Realm, regular hylians shouldn't be here, so why don't we figure out how to get you out, okay?"
The kid nodded slowly and took Dev's offered hand. Dev led them out of the pyramid and he, with a gentle warning about what he was going to do, he prodded at the kid's magical signature.
What he found was... shocking.
They turned out to be a sword spirit, Dev had to search Hyrule just to find their sword form. After a while of Dev teaching them and coaching them into leaving the Sacred Realm, he was there on the other side and helped them to change forms.
The kid looked a bit shaken. Dev knelt in front of them.
"Hey, you alright? I know it's a bit disorienting."
"N-No, I'm fine, it's just..." he stared at the ground before shaking his head and looking at Dev. "I wasn't ready for the memories."
"Oh? Can you tell me about you then?" Dev asked. "Your name?"
"Link," the kid said. "My name is—was Link, I'm—I was a blacksmith, and the Heroes of the Four Sword. It's... it's been a long time, hasn't it?"
Dev stared for the briefest moment before nodding. "It has. Around... 2300 years."
The kid inhaled sharply.
"I'm sorry," Dev offered.
"No, it's... not your fault," he managed, clearly shaken. "I just... over two thousand... goddesses."
Some centuries later, everything suddenly warped. Everything changed, ripping and pulling and pushing and stitching back together.
He was back. Back in that light, that warmth, that lackluster realm that was just him, his awareness, some mindscape formed. But it was wrong. It wasn't just his, there were things here that weren't him.
It wasn't the familiar forest, the endless, sunlit forest with unending changes that he was trying to map out and always finding new things, a true paradise for an explorer like he'd been.
This was a sort of temple, a forest beyond the windows but also an ocean and mountains, but there was no way out. The windows were stained and depicted different people, heroes, he'd realized.
"How are you here?"
Dev whirled around, well not really, he redirected his awareness to the spirit behind him that had evaded his notice... somehow.
"Fi?" He breathed.
The woman, far more Hylian-like than he had ever seen her, standing not far from him, cloak billowing around her. Blue hair, pale nearly-white skin, purple and blue eyes, otherwise she was the same as he remembered, just... less broken, less decayed.
She floated toward him, landing neatly in front of him. She visibly studied him, eyes flicking up and down his appearance. An oddly human action for a spirit that claimed to have always been a spirit.
"This is... unforeseen."
"How are you... What do you know?" Dev asked.
"The timeline split," she surmised. "There were three. I decayed in one of them, and that is where you are from."
Dev nodded. "Yeah, I... I wanted to help the next hero, like you did for me. Help and protect them."
And he'd failed, he added bitterly to himself.
"I see." She seemed thoughtful for a moment. "There were two other timelines, myself in each, we became one as did with the Master Sword of your time."
She paused for a moment. Dev mentally traced this supposed timeline, a singular line that split into three, remaining separate for centuries, and was now clicking back into a single line. One of the three lines was him, the other two was Fi.
"There is a new hero."
"We can find him."
She shook her head, a bit of a stilted movement, but Dev remembered her becoming more human for him as a child.
"I don't have the power to take physical form anymore."
Dev decided not to just say that he did. Instead he shrugged. "Alright, let's wait then."
He didn't like it. He was worried, but Fi wanted to stay put supposedly. The kid, Link, Heroes of the Four Sword in singular form —he found out that there was actually four of them, unsurprising since he'd read their stories dozens of times— had been with Dev when everything warped and he ended up with Fi. He hoped the kid, wherever he was, was safe.
"Thank you, Link," Fi said.
"Dev," he corrected her. "The heroes are Link, I'm... more of a guide now."
There was something behind those heterochromatic eyes, he wanted to say pride or something similar —but wasn't that odd? Within the confines of the sword, Fi looked Hylian, but every single time he saw her outside, she was crystalline. How... interesting.
"You determined my full designation."
"Fidelity?" He guessed, giving a small, wry smile.
Though it was unsurprising that she figured his out so easily, it was surprising when she returned his smile with a small, uncertain one of her own. "Yes, and yours is Devotion?"
He hummed and nodded.
The newest Link was a soldier, barely an adult. He was prideful at first glance, but Dev could feel, sense, and see the way his hands trembled as he grabbed the hilt of their sword.
There was a fierceness behind those sharp, cobalt-blue eyes. A ferocity that vowed protection, but also a meekness, a fear hiding beneath that ferocity, a need to prove— no, a determination to prove themselves. It was a weak determination, one forged out of a fear of failure, not a necessity to succeed.
He let Fi act as she wished, and to his own surprise, because it was something she never did for him, she tested him.
She denied him her loyalty for the briefest moment. For a brief moment that had the fierce warrior faltering and a fear that already existed, that fear of failure, becoming far stronger behind cobalt curtains.
Then determination steeled in front of the fear and he pulled again, harder.
Fi gave in.
She said nothing, so Dev stepped up. He let some of his power seep into the blade, giving it some encouragement and letting it glow slightly golden.
"Hello, Link," he greeted gently, the name coming to him without any real logic as to where, his words a hum in the boy's mind. The boy startled but there was no time for that, something appeared behind him. Dev gave a sharp warning.
The boy's eyes widened and he spun, slashing the Master Sword through a blast of magic that had been shot.
Dev stepped back, studying the way the boy fought. He was skilled, it was undeniable. He was trained, a knight, but there was so much that he could improve on.
This Link was fairly respectful, easygoing, and calm, but Dev could recognize fear and determination in his eyes. Dev offered guidance where he could, whispering battle strategy in Link's mind during meetings and helping him learn to find the best way himself.
He didn't take physical form, too many people and he didn't want to deal with being a person just yet.
Fi told Dev she didn't like to speak to her wielders if she did not need to. Though her words were different, Dev was good at reading between the lines: She didn't want to get attached, likely so the parting wouldn't hurt more than necessary.
Dev couldn't care. Not that he didn't care, but he could not. He refused to care about getting hurt. He learned during his mortal life that you couldn't avoid people for fear of hurting when you lose them.
He also promised Zelda he wouldn't avoid people to avoid being hurt, so he refused to do that.
The first time he took a true physical form was when Link had passed out after a battle and one of the little displaced heroes had grabbed his sword.
"Hi, you remember me?" Tune asked, eyes filled with curiosity as he set the sword on the table and sat on the chair to stare at it. "Captain Link says you can talk, but you never talked to me... I'm sorry I left you under the ocean."
Fi offered some quiet insight, giving Dev some context and her thoughts on the matter.
In a moment, the sword was replaced by a person and Tune yelped, jumping back as Dev took form, sitting on the table. He stumbled back, staring at him in shock.
"Don't apologize for that, little pirate," Dev said, lighthearted and warm.
Tune gaped. "Y-You—You're the sword!"
He laughed. "I am. I am part of it, at least. I have not met you before this war."
Tune looked confused. "But..."
"My partner did." Dev slid of the table and knelt in front of Tune, the young boy was fairly short for his age, not even coming up to Dev's shoulder when he had been standing. If Dev understood right, and he had been getting good at telling age from magical signatures, Tune was about twelve, maybe thirteen.
Tune nodded. "Yes—please."
"Well, a very long time ago, the timeline split into two, and then it split again. Not too long ago, there were three separate timelines." Dev informed the young hero. The courage in his heart was unlike even that in the current Link or Dev's dear Sprite. "When this war began, that changed. The timelines merged together, a convergence."
In the air, Dev drew a line with some magic lingering behind his movements to let that line remain visible, then he split it into three and brought them back together at the bottom.
"Fi is the other spirit of the Master Sword, she is who was with you throughout your journey. She is weaker than I, as she is much, much older, and sealed many, many more evils than I have."
Tune made an 'o' with his mouth, drawing the sound out. "And you?"
"I'm Dev. I am very young in comparison to Fi, and my power replenishes independently whereas hers is bound and limited as a result of our different creations. I used to be Hylian, she has always been a spirit." He tapped one of the timelines. "I formed sometime in one of the three, where Fi had faded away, and when the timelines merged, Fi and I now share the space of the Master Sword.
"Grabe!" Tune gasped, almost startling Dev with the use of a once familiar island language, then Tune visibly realized something as he beamed. "Do you know Mask? Or does Fi know Mask?"
Fi made a slightly pained and guilty chime. Dev gave a soft smile.
"Fi does. I've never met Mask."
"Then you have to! Come on, I'll introduce you. Captain Link's healing and I bet Mask is probably super worried, so we should distract him."
Dev could feel the older brother energy that Tune just radiated. He nodded.
"Lead the way, little pirate."
Tune led the way out and Dev followed him. He wove through the crowds of the military camp and Dev ignored the questioning looks shot his way.
Tune lit up and he ran and tackled someone. A small boy, in green just like Tune was, though this boy's was a darker green.
"Gah! Tune no!"
"Hey, Mask!" Tune wrangled the kicking child under one arm, stealing his floppy green cap and mussing yellow-blond hair.
"Oh—Ge'off!" Mask struggled until Tune released him.
"Cap'n Link's in good shape, Mask, stop being such a worry wart," Tune teased lightly, though it was clear his words were genuine.
"Who's this?" Mask demanded instead of addressing the chide. He eyed Dev warily.
"This is Dev! He's..."
"A sword spirit," Dev offered. He tilted his head a bit, recognizing the very faint sugary magic on the kid. "You like fairies?"
Mask startled. "Huh?"
"You have a bit of fairy magic on you," Dev tapped his nose and Mask scrunched his face up, annoyance joining the shock. "Do you like them?"
"I... I was raised by the Kokiri," Mask offered carefully. "But— Yeah, I like them. They're nice."
"Hmm, how about we do some plotting?" Dev looked over at Tune with a glitter of mischief in his eyes. "So when Link's all better and back to being reckless on the battlefield, we can give him a little... scare."
He knew he had their full attention with that suggestion. Two little gremlins these two were. He should be too old for this sort of thing, but he had a soft spot for kids. Especially ones where he could feel a connection that went deeper than sword and wielder.
The three heroes, Tune, Mask, and Link, they reminded Dev of the kid, the younger sword spirit had that same curiosity, the same determination, the same determination to help out, and the same steadiness that the three had displayed. Tune also looked a lot like the kid. Dev knew, objectively, that the kid wasn't going to get hurt, he was a sword spirit after all and almost nothing in existence could even hurt him, but that didn't stop him from worrying. It only stopped him from going out and abandoning this war to find the kid.

hey I just saw your post about the minister and the ace community, do you perhaps have a link or somethin? thanks
Okay, so I'm sorry but I'm gonna use your ask to talk about the so-called 'trans law' in Spain because IT JUST GOT APPROVED!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!!!!
First of all, I am having a lot of trouble finding links to English-speaking news outlets talking about it so all links are gonna be in Spanish for now, I'm sorry. Please, if anyone finds stuff in English let me know and I'll edit this post!!
Anyways, let's start answering your ask lol. She said this this morning (December 22nd 2022), before they voted for the law. Her name is Irene Montero, and she's the Minister of Equality and creator of the law. Here's a twitter clip where she says it, I'll translate it in English:
"... there's also the rights that are still missing. I know that today is a difficult day for non-binary people, who celebrate the advances that they have also conquered but who need the legal recognition of their reality. In the last few years, you have succeded in letting a very important part of society know you exist; may there be more and more respect and less discrimination, mockery or misunderstandings for your lives and your identities' sake. But I am aware that you also need your rights to be recognized; we will continue to protect and care for you, we know we have to keep advancing. We also know this is the case for trans and LGBTI immigrants, for ace people, for all those lives who are still invisible in the eyes of society and who are going to keep pushing the transformations that your lives need."
After it, Congress voted for this new law. It ended up passing with 188 votes in favour, 150 against, and 7 abstentions; it'll now have to be ratified by the Senate before finally being effective. This finally put an end to a months-old drag and trampling of the law by T*RFs all over the country (and of course the usual conservatives and fascists but that was expected), an extensive hate campaign towards Irene Montero herself (although tbh ever since she started in politics the poor woman has been submitted through continuous heckling and disinformation campaigns) and serious doubts on its approval, many thought it would change too much or be indefinitely delayed; in this article they neatly talk about how many hardships it has gone through if you're interested. But it's finally here. It's finally approved.
So, what's this law about? Well, it basically aspires to recognize a series of rights and protections to LGBT people in Spain, focusing mainly on trans people. As you could imagine, seeing the word T*RF in this post, this was what generated the most controversy and overall bullshit. For what I've gathered, these are the main points of the law:
It facilitates sex change. Under this law, a person who wants to change their sex being between 12 to 14 years old will need a court endorsment, from 14 to 16 the parents' approval, and from 16 on they don't need any documents or permission, they can just go to the corresponding office to change it.
It depathologises transexuality. This means that for the sex change no hormones or medical report will be needed; you can just go to change your sex without any clinical data.
It protects detransitioning. Detransitioning will be able to happen if the person wants to, changing their sex the same way as mentioned above. If there's more than two sex changes, then they will have to go to court for it.
It bans conversion therapies and sets a fine for them of 150,000€.
It protects queer families. Until now, when a queer family had a baby, the non-pregnant partner had to adopt the kid to be recognized as their parent; under this law, they just need to express it so when the kid is born and has to be registered.
It protects intersex people, by banning genital modification for those younger than 12 yo unless it poses an urgent health issue, and from 12-16 yo they can be performed only if the intersex person consents to it.
It protects LGBT people in rural areas, establishing their right to have the same resources and services than their urban folks have.
It studies 'sexile', that is, having to abandon your place of birth due to issues pertaining your sexuality or gender identity, especially in rural areas. Its main objective is for sexile to be recognized as one of the causes of depopulation within the larger measures against depopulation in the country.
There are also general measures that protect LGBT people in hostile environments and instaurate anti-discriminatory measures.
Hope this was clear enough, I'm so happy this law was finally approved, I feel it was so mentally tiring for all progressists in the country, it was a lot. But finally ES LEY!!!!!!!
Also, I'm not really an expert on it so if I've said something wrong or if I'm missing stuff please feel free to add to this post!

I have an argument... (P-shifting vs. Delusions)
Okay, so you know how people often try to claim shifters are delusional, mentally ill or must be suffering from something, right? We all know that's wrong (and other shifters and I have addressed it before), but I think I have a more coherent argument against shifting being considered a delusion specifically, as that seems harder to confront.
(Note: You can be a shifter and also be mentally ill, delusional, etc. however the two are not inherently associated with one another.)
Here are the diagnostic criteria for Delusional Disorder, as listed in the DSM-5. I'm aware other countries may use the ICD-11, here's a link to the criteria for delusional disorder as listed there.
Diagnostic criteria for delusions are broad, since delusions can take many forms and impact people in a variety of ways. However, in order to qualify as delusional you need to have one or more delusions lasting a duration of one month or longer.
Tumblr media
Generally delusions are suspected when a belief conflicts with someone's (sub)culture or deeply held beliefs. If a belief is found within someone's culture or subculture it doesn't typically qualify as a delusion, because it is then understandable and may serve other functions. Physical therianthropy (the act of physically shapeshifting into another animal) has existed as a belief in all sorts of cultures, and the Western shifter community is one form of this. So that reduces the possibility that shifters are all delusional - if we were this belief would not have persisted for so long throughout the ages.
Delusions can be neutral or rarely positive, but generally they tend to impact people (or occasionally others) negatively, hence why they're listed in the DSM. Unlike religious, spiritual or supernatural beliefs they are not adopted and practiced; you cannot decide to become delusional or learn how to be delusional like how some people claim to have learned shifting. If a delusion is positive and doesn't appear to be affecting one negatively in other ways, psychiatrists may leave it alone, treating it similarly to other religious beliefs.
The ICD-11 says this about the boundary with normality:
A continuum of delusional beliefs, attenuated delusional beliefs, overvalued ideas, and unusual or eccentric beliefs has been observed in the general population. Such beliefs may be more common among people under conditions of adversity. People with Delusional Disorder may display greater psychological distress, greater preoccupation, and higher degree of conviction compared to people in the general population with beliefs that are similar in nature to beliefs that could be characterized as delusional.
So generally, unless you're distressed, highly preoccupied (to the point of it affecting your life negatively) and unreasonably closed off to other possible explanations, your beliefs are not indicative of an illness. Many people have some kind of odd, unusual, or borderline delusional beliefs, but they don't usually become a cause for concern until they affect someone's life negatively.
A delusional syndrome that people often try to link to shifting is clinical lycanthropy. However, in both clinical and modern cases I've seen it is typically a distressing and dysfunctional syndrome to live with. Clinical lycanthropes don't generally enjoy shifting or being an animal the same way shifters do, and often experience other symptoms that signal a psychiatric or physical disorder, such as inability to control shifting and other negative supernatural phenomena, distress or inability to function, or disorganized thoughts.
I hope this reassures anybody who was worried that shifting might be delusional for them due to the stigma surrounding it. Other people may freak out about physical shifting because it's not the norm, but it isn't an inherently delusional or pathological condition or belief. If it isn't causing issues in your day-to-day life and you're not distressed by it, you're fine. (And if you are distressed/having issues, you should seek help. You deserve to feel comfortable in your body!)

My Best Friend's Family: Prologue
Tumblr media
Christopher Herrmann x Teen!Fem!Reader, Herrmann Family x Teen!Reader
Series MasterList
Summary: When everything seems to be falling apart your best friend, Lee Henry and his family are there to help.
Warnings: Single parent, death of a parent, child abuse, physical and mental abuse, adoption
Tumblr media
First day of 6th grade. You didn't have many friends from Elementary school and the ones you did have were going to a different middle school. So you were starting over in the department. Which was fine, you could do that easily. Maybe. So here you were climbing onto the bus looking for an empty seat. Your eyes locked with a boy as he moves his bag from the seat before waving you over to sit next to him.
"Hi! I'm Lee Henry." He grins at you.
"I'm y/n. Why do you have two names?" You asked him smiling.
"I don't know my mom and dad never told me why."
"Oh. That's okay, your cool can we be friends?"
"Yeah!"
—— 4 years later
Now four years later you spend most of your time at his house with his family. They're different than what you're used to. You love it at his house it's never quiet, and there's always something going on. While at your house it's usually just you by yourself since your mom works a lot to support two of you and your dad was in jail last time you heard.
"Good morning kids." Herrmann walks down the stairs with his work bag seeing you on his couch with his kids as he has for over 3 years.
"Good morning."
"Y/n where's rent huh? With you here so much you otta start paying."
"Oh come on im practically your sixth kid you can't get rid of me." You laugh looking back at him.
"Didn't say I was getting rid of you. Just charging you." He laughs setting his bag down behind the couch.
"Same difference." You glared at him playfully. He smiles ruffling your hair.
"Sure." He chuckled. "Where's you mom at?" He directs the question to his oldest son.
"Kitchen."
"Okay go back to your game." He says walking out of the room.
"When did your mom say you had to be home anyway?" Lee Henry asks you.
"You tired of me already?" You laugh.
"No just wanted to know how much time we have."
"Before 7, she wants to have a movie night." You say not taking your eyes off the TV.
"Eh, you get to spend most of the day with your favorite herrmann." Lee Henry jokes.
"For the first time your right. I love spending time with Kenny." You joke motioning to the 3-year-old who sat in front of you drawing.
"Don't worry I prefer his company over you too." Lee pushes you gently.
"As you should."

20 questions for writers, tagged by @aobawilliams
how many works do you have on ao3? 76!! If i hadn't purged a few a couple years ago (and they truly were ones that needed to be gone forever and i feel no guilt bc they all had like 3 views and i think they were all mine tbh.) it'd probably be nearly 200 by now.
what's your total ao3 word count? 1,126,631... hm. Maybe i have a problem? nah. I'm sure it's fine.
What fandoms do you write for? My Hero Acadamia; Trash of the Count's Family; Person 5; Batman; Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild; Danny Phantom; Justice League; Miraculous Ladybug; Fire Emblem: Three Houses; SK8 the Infinity; Megamind; Kiss the Abyss; White Collar; Dio Field; Scum Villain Self-saving System
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1) The old bait and switch 2) Uncle John 3) #NewestWayne is trending 4) Blood Stains the skin red 5) Rooks and Bishops don't get to choose their moves
Do you respond to comments? why/why not? I do occasionally. I guess it depends on what kind of comment it is? If it's a 'More!' or 'Update?' comment i just ignore it. I also tend to leave like emoji comments on their own bc honestly like thank you for giving me an emoji but i am a bit lost as to what I'm exactly meant to respond with you know? Longer comments or compound sentence comments are the ones i tend to respond to purely because there tends to be something to respond to!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh god... uh. I had to have a quick glance and... i don't really know? There's a few options okay! You have 'Fine, I'll do it Myself' as a strong contender because of the whole 'the person you most love is trapped an entire universe away and you have to wait years to see him again' vibe going on. There's 'Blood Stains the Skin red' because it's literally about what if shit was even more fucked than canon and Midoriya had blood in his hands. Oh! Or "We Don't Remember a Boat in a Bottle" which damn... forget how angsty that one was ngl. I mean there's also 'Group hug' where the champions reunite post BOTW only for Link to die in their arms... (These are the especially angsty ones like the question asked bc honestly... most of my fics are angsty.. hehe.)
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Between 'well then...' and 'This is Love' both Trash of the count's family fics. Well Then is a strong contender because it's just a silly little 'identity reveal is so misconstrued everyone thinks there's *so* much angst and the protag is just vibing. like cale literally starts having a canon-typical spiral bc he thinks people are trying to intimidate him and it's kike a 17 year old being like 'im telling my adopted dad/adopted big brother about all the fun me and my younger siblings have had!' And 'This is Love' is still in progress but each chapter end is a comedy so ya know.
Do you get hate on fics? I used to. I don't really clean my fics up all that well since i tend to miss things so i just stopped and the only times i ever tried to get a beta i got blew off so.. Anyway. I used to get shit and told my work was so horrendous that I was lying about english being my first language. Even looking back at it now it's horseshit that it was 'that bad' bc it really wasn't. I also got this one guy who got really pressed because he didn't have the reading comp to see the tags 'canon divergence' and 'crack treated seriously' and then understand why the characters in the fic weren't acting canon compliant.
Do you write smut? if so, what kind? I do, kind of? Like I've written something that *I* would class as smut but it's not like *full on* explicit descriptions of stuff so it is smut but not in the way people would probably normally think? It's my fic 'pretty boy' and im not even going to lie it was my excuse to write a praise kink fic for Cloeph/Cale.
Do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one? OH DO I. I don't publish nearly as many crossovers as I used to. When I had a wattpad that bitch was almost nothing BUT crossovers. I've written: Ass Class/OHSHC, Ass Class/BNHA, DC/MLB. Those are my tame ones. I have 2 in the works and i think they fit the 'craziest crossovers you've written.' They are: Scum Villain/Trash of the Counts family (aka woke up as a scum villain show down) and Persona 5/BNHA (aka i make Akechi's life so much worse)
have you ever had a fic stolen? Yeah, I had one of my Miraculous Ladybug fics stolen, but i contacted AO3 and it got taken down.
have you ever had a fic translated? No, not with my permission at least. I've had a few people as permission that I've given but they haven't been uploaded so. I have a rule that if it's translated i'd like it to stay on ao3 and unfortunately not a lot of the people interested in translating my fics want to translate them on the archive so i've said no a bunch of times.
have you ever co-written a fic? Yep. A friend-insert fic from when i was 12 with my friend cookie on wattpad. Alas, it is lost to time.
what's your all-time fave ship? There is not a singular answer to this so imma pass-
what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will? All of them. But probably my Persona 5/BNHA crossover. Like I really want to write it but every time i open the document i just sit there like 'eugh.'
what are your writing strengths? According to my creative writing class leader, it's my descriptions and suspense build ups.
writing weaknesses? Again, according to my class leader, it's my inability to resist telling rather than showing. Also I sometimes make my sentences too long, when i could cut them shorter.
thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? It depends? For example if it's something that *absolutely* must be there - for example if I was to write a Percy Jackson fanfic and some exchange in the book was in broken greek/english then YES, but if its not something like that then no i just slap the text in italics and make sure it's obvious somewhere in text a non-english language is being spoken.
first fandom you wrote for? Batman. Self insert fan fic.
fave fic you've ever written?
Ooh..mm.
So. Proper hard question here because like how am i supposed to choose ya know?
It comes down to though, when im pushed to answer, probably 'the old bait and switch'.
I wrote that bitch in the car to high school and between revising for exams so it holds a special place in my heart.
