THE ONE WITH THE WEDDING -part 2
Fandom: Marvel, avengers
Note:hey guys!! This is going to be a series and a new chapter will come out on Fridays every week. This series is based on Friends (Monica and Chandler’s relationship)
Warnings: hate for step family, some few bad words, idea of a bit of lovemaking at the end(just mention), alcohol consumption but mainly fluff.
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary: You were invited to your stepsister's wedding at the last minute and your stepmother wants you to bring a date. Bucky Barnes decides to become your so-called date and shenanigans ensue. But will he remain your ‘so-called’ fake date or will he be someone more?
Tumblr media
Thursday. The day which you dreaded the most. The day when you have to attend your stepsister’s wedding. Your alarm blared at 8 in the morning but you still didn't want to get out of your bed. You almost decided against not attending when you realized that you might not get to meet your loved ones too. So you finally managed to pull yourself out of the bed and proceeded towards the bathroom. You brushed your teeth and took a bath as slowly as possible, delaying the day's events. By the time you finished your breakfast, it was 10 am. Since there was no one to accompany you in the kitchen as all of the teammates except Bucky, left for a mission the previous day, you were grumpier than usual. You were just playing with the cereals and the spoon when you heard someone walk in, knowing exactly who the said person was.
Bucky took a milk carton from the fridge to drink while he looked at you, playing. He knew what kind of situation you were in since he knew your history with your family, and since you didn't acknowledge him when he walked in the kitchen, which you tend to do when you were in deep thoughts.
“From the milk carton? Seriously? When will you learn that it's disgusting to drink directly from the carton and that people would rather prefer a glass or a bowl?” you asked, breaking the silence.
Bucky raised his eyebrow at you and purposely drank from the carton right in front of you. You groaned, which made Bucky chuckle.
“Alright, alright I'll stop since you're gonna have to experience more torturing situations today.” he looked at you genuinely, while taking a glass from the cabinets. You smiled a bit, knowing your colleagues and friends, or let's say your second family always had your back.
“So when do we leave?”
“We’ll leave two hours early since it'll only take 45minutes to reach there, but I want to introduce you to my real loved ones, for they are the only reason I want to go to the wedding.”
“Oh wait you mean your dad, grandma and your twin brother right?”
“Yep you got it right Sargent.”
You both chuckled, a few seconds of silence when Bucky said, “Tell me about them.”
“Hm?”
“Your loved ones..tell me about them, if I'm gonna meet my fake date’s family, I'd rather go prepared, don't you think?”
You giggled.
“Well let's start with my grandma. She is the most generous person you're ever going to meet-”
You continued to talk joyfully, which made lucky smile too. He observed how your features carefully. He could memorise all the details and still observe you again all the time. He liked how you were smiling widely, how your cheeks were lifted by the beautiful smile on your face.
You guys talked for an hour when you decided that you should start getting ready so that you guys could leave at the designated time.
It was 3 by the time you guys got ready. You were wearing a decent long sleeveless maroon indigo dress while he wore a black tux with an indigo coloured tie to match your dress. You both wore hair buns, yours being adorned by a floral hair pin.
You both were in the cab, when you started fidgeting and biting your nails. Bucky noticed your nervousness, which made him to hold your hand gently and give you a reassuring look, which made you fidget less. You both held your hands, basking in the silence, not an awkward but a comfortable silence.
As soon as you reached the wedding hall, you dragged Bucky inside the hall, your eyes searching the whole crowd. When you met a familiar pair of eyes, you rushed towards it, still pulling Bucky along you. You both came in from of an old lady, dressed decent but beautiful enough for the wedding.
“Granny!!” you squealed, while hugging her. The sight of both the hugging ladies in front of Bucky, made his heart melt. He tried to give you both privacy by taking a step back. Your grandma noticed him and asked you, smirking, “Now who's that gentleman here y/n? Why don't you introduce him to me?”
“Introduce who?”
“Dad!!” you squealed while hugging him tightly.
“Oh God...i missed you so much baby girl.” he said while holding your face between his hands and kissing your forehead.
“I missed you too?”
“What about me? Did you forget me?” you ran towards your brother and he hugged you tightly lifting you up a bit.
“Whats up bro? Still being a jackass?” you asked slyly and teasingly. “Well now I know you're still the pain in my ass.” your brother retorted making all of you laughed.
Just then your brother’s attention turned towards Bucky.
“Hey I know you. You’re Bucky Barnes. Y/N’s colleague.” he says while shaking Bucky’s hand but also squinting at him suspiciously.
“Its an honour to meet you three. You must be Y/B/N, Y/N’s brother.” “And I am Y/F/N, Y/N’s father” your father chimed him also shaking his hand and squinting at him suspiciously.
“Now now both of you back off from the poor man. Now he may be older than me but I am older than you and I suggest you do not torture the poor man already, since our dear Y/N got him as her date.” your grandmother said, looking at you mischievously.
“Thats the thing...” you started. You then filled the three of them about how your stepmom had called you at the last minute to taking Bucky with you as your fake date.
“Oh then it's fine..” your dad said, “i think we tortured James a bit don't you think Y/B/N?” “I think so too dad.” they both said, but still squinting at him suspiciously. Your grandmother swatted, both of their heads lightly which caused you to chuckle. You then heard someone call out to everyone to take their seats as the wedding was going to start soon. Your grandmother ushered all of you to take your seats, while you joined Bucky.
“Sorry about that,” you said while sitting beside him. “Oh don't, in fact, I quite liked your family, especially how protective your father and brother were. Honestly speaking if I were in their place and if I had a daughter myself then I would have the same reaction too.” he smiled genuinely. “Oh thanks,” you said while your cheeks burned a bit. You two looked at each other for a bit when someone called out that the wedding began, beeaking both of yours stares. You both sat together, watching the ceremony while you and Bucky cracked jokes on the topics of the decoration or the food or the bride or groom. You both had to stifle your laughter to save yourselves from the embarrassment. When the reception began you excused yourself to the restroom. While returning back from the restroom, you were stopped by a shrill voice behind from you, your stepmother. Of course it is. You turned your back slowly and smiled a bit too much, while walking towards her. “Hello Y/N” your stepmother said, walking towards you, having a smile almost as fake as you. “Hello to you too stepmom.”
“Well are you enjoying the wedding?”
“Oh I am, in fact I liked the decorations.”
“Oh thank you. This had to be wonderful since this is the only wedding that was gonna happen besides your brother’s”
You clenched your jaw but still managed to laugh it off.
“Well I have got a wonderful son in law you know, I mean of course no one but my daughter deserves it since she is the only one capable of being successful like this, and you know being this beautiful than anyone in the whole family.”
Every word stung you but you still managed to regain yourself and chanted in your mind that you saw this coming.
“I mean of course she was better, smarter and deserving than both of you”
This bitch wasn't even trying to hide her hatred towards you.
“Oh honey, I'm sorry for the date. I know you are not capable of finding someone-”
“Actually her date is right here.”
You felt hands on your shoulder and a kiss placed on your cheek. Bucky was smiling and chuckling beside you, hugging you tightly sideways.
“Oh I'm sorry how rude of me, I'm James Buchanan Barnes, Y/N’s boyfriend, my friends and Y/N call me Bucky”
And you saw your stepmom have the most surprised look on herself when Bucky introduced himself to her.
“Well honey I think I gotta show you something. How about we take a walk. Now if you'll excuse me-” bucky pulled you towards the end of the hall.
You both sat on the empty chairs, facing towards the balcony.
“Hey Y/N you okay?”
You nodded while rubbing your eyes roughly, “You didn't have to do that James.”
“Well what kind of fake boyfriend would I be if I don't save my own fake girlfriend from her troubles?” he said cheekily which earned a giggle from you. You both looked at each other, observing each others features. You saw how his baby blue eyes shined due to the hall lights, few hair strands falling on his face, his cheeks having a pink flush, a scruff of beard on his face with an adorable smile adorned on his face, making him look more attractive. You both stared at each other intently. “So was it true?” you asked.
“What?”
“That you would have the same reaction if you would have a daughter.”
“Oh that...uh well yea...its true..”
“Do you want a family?”
“Yes....yes I do...”
You both smiled at each other with a comfortable silence between both of you, when one of the bridesmaids came to inform you two that the rooms to stay we're ready. You both parted each other hesitantly but asked Bucky to go ahead to his room since you were the direct family member and had to stay behind to make sure everything was settled. He nodded and headed towards the room.
It was almost midnight when almost the whole staff was clearing out the decorations, you were about to head back when you again saw your stepmom approaching you. You tried to ignore her but she grabbed your arm and turned you towards her. “Now listen here you minx, I know you were the one who tried to steal my precious daughter's spotlight so you better apologize now.” what? What was she talking about?
“What are you talking about? Why would I wanna do that?”
“Oh so now you're gonna play the victim card. Well listen here sweetheart I know how you tried to out best your sister by making yourself pretty and finding an avenger boyfriend for yourself so that everyone could talk only about you. I was surprised that you got a boyfriend for yourself yet alone an Avenger, but now I see it that he is your fake boyfriend, and you just wanna be in the spotlight and want more boys to fuck with. Well hear me out you will never be better than anyone, always be the most dumb one and no one is going go accept you. So I better not see you outshining my daughter again, you hear me you whore? Shame on yourself.”
Your stepmother left you all by yourself in the hall, leaving you in tears. You just couldn't handle it anymore. You saw a bottle of wine on the buffet table and you picked it up, walking towards your room.
1 am
Knock knock.
Bucky was awake due to his nightmares and since he didn't want to scare his neighbor but he got suspicious when he heard knocks at his door.
He slowly approached the door, ready to act on spot, when he saw you at the door, still in your party clothes, but a drinking a glass of wine from a straw. “Hey Y/N” he says a bit surprised. “Hey Buck, cute clothes.” you say making him realise that he was shirtless with him only in his jumptracks and dog tags.
“Well I wasn't exactly expecting company at...1am.” he nodded while looking at the walk clock.
You walked in the room, placing the glass on the table.
“What happened? Are you okay?” he asked, concern etching on his face.
“Well other than the fact that when I was returning to my room, my stepmom accused me of stealing my sisters spotlight, bringing you as a means to my ends of fucking other boys and called me a whore, ...yeah Im fine.” you said with a smile on your face but tears threatening to spill.
“Hey do you want me to talk to her with your dad and brother? Just tell me what to do. I know it's been a real emotional time and you've had a lot to drink so you know..you just gotta let it go, okay? I mean you were the most beautiful woman in the room tonight.”
“Really?” you asked.
“Are you kidding me you were the most beautiful woman in the most rooms-”
You suddenly pounced at Bucky, kissing him passionately, his hands roaming on the back of your body, you both were kissing for a few seconds when he suddenly pushed you a bit, “Woah Woah woah what's going on? You and I just made out. You and I are making out?”
“Well not anymore.” you sassed.
“But we don't do that.” he said
“I know I just thought it would be fun.” you said shyly.
Bucky squinted at you for a second before asking, “how drunk are you?”
“Drunk enough that I know I want to do this, not so drunk that you should feel guilty about taking advantage.” you said too fast as excited.
He started at you for a few seconds.
“Well that's perfect amount.” he said, pulling you towards his bed. You both sat on the bed and started kissing each other when you broke off and said, “ you know what's weird?”
“What?”
”This doesn't feel weird.”
“ I know”
“And you're a really good kisser.”
“Well they didn't call me a ladies man in the 40s for no reason.”
You giggled and continued to kiss him.
“Want to get in the covers?” he asked. You nodded and you both went inside the covers.
You were removing your dress when you saw buck already naked.
“Wow you're really fast.” you said.
“Well it bodes for me that speed impresses.”
You nodded in approval.
“We’re gonna see each other naked.” you said.
“Yep.”
“You wanna do it at the same time?”
“At the count of three?”
“One” you chanted.
“Two” he chanted.
“Three” both of you peeked inside the covers at your bodies and looked at yourselves over the covers with wide eyes.
“ well I think it's safe to say that our friendship is effectively ruined.”
“Well we weren't that close anyway.” you said.
“Yeah” he replied, and you both started making out with each other.
And let's just say all your wild dreams came true...

Night Shift - One Shot
a/n: back at it again with another Halloween themed fic! This was inspired by an ask requesting Harry and Y/N both work/meet in the ER. Slight twist on it, but I hope you like it! Reblogs and feedback are super helpful! (not proofread)
Warnings: friends to lovers, smut at the end
Words: 6.8K
Tumblr media
Becoming a doctor took a lot of hard work dedication. Countless sleepless nights, a large debt to pay back, finding a hospital to become a resident in, and countless seminars to go to, to make sure all practices were up to date. At first, Y/N hated working the graveyard shift. She rarely got to see friends or family, she was getting minimal amounts of sleep because, let’s face it, sleeping during the day never worked out the way you wanted it to. However, she stopped minding it so much when one of the nicest nurses took his turn on the overnight shifts.
Nurse Styles was usually the voice of reason. He could calm any patient down, and the kids in pediatrics loved him. He always had a lollypop ready to go. All of the nurses took turns with the different shifts so it was fair for everyone. He had heard of Dr. Y/L/N, but had never met her. She was newer to the hospital, a white coat, but still baby-faced. Harry really enjoyed being a nurse, he didn’t want to be the person in there doing surgery, but he liked being able to get things started, and ease someone into the more difficult things. He had a way of administering bad news, and easing the pain from it. His broad shoulders were perfect for crying on, and if it was a kid he needed to prep for getting their appendix out, he held their hand the entire way to the operating room.
Y/N was just getting in, putting her things in her breakroom cubby when Harry walked in. He smiles at her, and she smiles back as he also puts his things away.
“Chilly out there tonight.” He says as he puts his scrubs on over his long sleeve under armor. She only looked for a second, his arm muscles were certainly defined. “I don’t think we’ve properly met yet, I’m Harry.” He extends her hand and she takes it.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Y/N.”
“Well, Y/N, lucky for you I’ll be your nurse for the next couple of months.”
“You seem a little too chipper about working overnight.” She chuckles as she gets her white coat on and stethoscope around her neck.
“I don’t mind it.” He shrugs. “A lot of the other nurses have spouses and kids they rarely get to see, so it’s only fair I take my turn on the overnight stuff. I usually take it this time of year anyways.”
“Why’s that?”
“The Halloween crazies start trickling towards the end of September. Think the staff likes having me as extra muscle or whatever.”
Her face pales as she looks at him. She had completely forgotten about Halloween. Last year she worked during the day, but she had heard about all of the nonsense from the entire weekend. Drunk people needing their stomach pumped, car wrecks, people on drugs, etc.
“So, what’s your specialty? You’re not a surgeon are you?” He breaks her from her trance.
“No, I’m not a surgeon, just a regular old doctor. I almost ended up in maternity like a lot of female doctors, but it wasn’t for me.” They both walk into the main area so they can get briefed for the night.
Harry says hello to the other nurses at the desk, and he takes his seat to login into the computer. There was another doctor on the overnight shifts, Dr. Gilles, and Y/N really couldn’t stand him. He was one of those doctors who was sort of rude to the nurses because he had been at the hospital for a while, but he was handsome so a lot of them didn’t even care. He would flirt with Y/N when he’d get the chance, but she didn’t really like it. She’d seen Scrubs, she didn’t need the drama that comes with hooking up with a coworker. Not to mention the guy was, like, forty, and she was only pushing thirty. To some that may not be a big age difference, but it weirded her out nonetheless. It weirded her out more when he’d catch her flirting with some of the younger nurses.
“Evening everyone.” Dr. Gilles. “He says as he walks up to the desk. “Quiet so far?”
“Pretty much.” Nurse Halleran says. “Hope it stays that way. You’ve got a couple of people you just need to check in on.” She hands him a few charts and he nods as he takes them. “How are you, Dr. Y/L/N?”
“Good.” She says as she looks over her cuticles. She feels his eyes burn into her, and she fiddles with some of the pens on the desk. “Nurse Styles, back on the graveyard, huh?”
“Yup.” Harry says with a fake smile. He also did not like Dr. Gilles. He felt protective over the other nurses, and none of them felt uncomfortable by Dr. Gilles, but he was a married man who openly flirted with people, and that kind of behavior just didn’t fly with Harry. “Dr. Y/L/N, one of your patients needs their vitals checked. Young thing, coming down from a bladder and kidney infection.”
“Alright, let’s go.” Harry hands her the chart and she looks it over as they walk to where the patient was sleeping.
Bethany Martin, ten years old, bladder and kidney infection. Another doctor wanted to size her up for an appendix removal, but it was Y/N that discovered that it wasn’t the child’s appendix. The girl had told her the pain had moves from the front of her stomach, to her side, and then to her back. She got major brownie points from the administration for making that catch.
Her and Harry slowly go into the room. Her father was sleeping in one of the fold out chairs provided. He wakes up when he hears the door open.
“Hello, Mr. Martin.” Y/N whispers with a smile. “We’re just going to check on Beth’s vitals, see how her fever’s doing, alright?”
“Sure thing, thank you.” He stands up and goes over to his daughter to help her wake up a little.
“Hmm.” The girl slowly opens her eyes, and then she smiles when she sees Y/N. See, Beth was scared that she was going to get cut open, so she was beyond grateful that she didn’t have to have surgery. “Hello.” She says sleepily.
“Hi, sweetheart, I need to check a few things, would that be alright?” Y/N asks.
“Yes.”
“Hi, Beth, how’s your IV feeling in that hand?” Harry asks her.
“It’s itchy, Nurse Harry.”
He smiles at her. A lot of the kids would call him that instead of Nurse Styles, he thought it was sweet.
“Think we should switch it to your other hand then.”
“Why’s it in her hand and not in her arm?” Y/N questions.
“We had a tough time…this one likes to pull away.” Harry explains and winks at Beth which makes her giggle.
Y/N let’s Harry switch out the IV. She lets Beth hold her hand as she winces from the needle. Once he’s done, Y/N checks everything else. She has Beth roll onto her stomach so she can feel around her back.
“I haven’t been as achy.” Beth says as she gets settled on her back once more. “It still hurts a little though.”
“Mm, I bet. Took us a bit to figure things out with you, but you seem to be doing a lot better. Should only need to be here for another few days. We’ll come back to check on you later this morning.”
“Thank you.” She snuggles back into her blankets and slowly falls back asleep.
Mr. Martin thanks Y/N and Harry before they leave, and she they both go to wash their hands at one of the sink stations.
“Nurse Harry, huh? Do all the little girls call you that?” Y/N smirks.
“Why, jealous?” He bumps his hip to hers before grabbing a paper towel to dry his hands. She rolls her eyes at him, and he chuckles. “The kids just tend to call me that, I don’t mind it.”
“It must ease them a bit more to be on a first name basis, I should remember that. I hate seeing kids in pain, I’m glad she’s doing better.”
“I know it sucks, but I actually like working with the kids more. They at least listen to us. Some of these adult patients…they fight us on every little thing sometimes.” They make their way back to the desk.
“Dr. Y/L/N?” Nurse Stevens says to her. “I’m going on a coffee run, would you like anything?”
“You’re an angel, yes”, she reaches into her pocket for some loose singles, “just a regular with a little cream, no sugar, thank you.”
“Harry?” She says to him.
“Brought my thermos, but thanks Ellie.” He smiles at her and she nods before going on her way.
“She’s the best, I’ve worked with her during the day before.” Y/N says to Harry.
“Yeah, Ellie and I came on together.”
“Oh, really?”
Harry hums his response as he types some notes into the computer. Harry and Ellie had a bit of a past, nothing serious, but they had hooked up on occasion. Being a nurse meant working a lot of long days, and that left little room for a social life or companionship. They may or may not have taken advantage of the beds in the room adjacent to the breakroom a few times, but that was a year or so ago. She had started seeing someone, so they ended things amicably.
“Why just the cream and no sugar?” He asks to change the subject.
“Well, for a while I was doing the keto thing, which is absolute rubbish and I never should have done it, but I got into the habit of not adding sugar to things. I don’t like the taste of black coffee, it’s too bitter, so the cream helps. I don’t miss the sugar, in fact, I can’t stand really sugary drinks in general.”
“Why’d you do the keto in the first place?”
“Oh, I was looking to lose some weight before a wedding I had to go to. I was a bridesmaid so I just wanted to look nice in the pictures, you know? It works when you stick to it, but as soon as I stopped I gained most of it back. Deprivation diets are never a good idea, and I knew it, but did it anyways because it was a quick way to do things.” He goes to say something, but decides against it. Her head tilts as she can tell he’s withholding something. “Go ahead, tell me as a doctor it was stupid of me to jump on a fad diet.” She sighs and leans on the tall desk.
“No, I was just going to say…” He blushes slightly. “Well, I just feel bad that you thought you needed to lose any weight because you…well…you must know how beautiful you are as is.”
She stands up straight. She literally just met this man tonight, what was going on? Just as she was about to say something, Ellie comes back with the coffee.
“Here you go.” She smiles.
“Oh, thank you.” Y/N takes the coffee. “I’m gonna go take a walk to the other nurse’s station, see how they’re doing. Page me if you need anything.”
Harry watches her walk away and he groans with his head in his hands.
“Don’t tell me.” Ellie smirks. “You have a crush on Dr. Y/L/N…shocking.” Ellie giggles and rolls her eyes.
“I just met her, I don’t have a crush on her. But I may have just said something inappropriate.”
“You?!” Ellie was shocked. “Harry, you’re, like, the nicest person I know. What did you say?”
“I just told her she was beautiful.”
“It’s not like it’s a lie, she’s rather pretty. Seems to take care of herself. It’s not an easy thing to do, especially on these shifts.”
“I know! It just felt weird after I said it. I don’t wanna be like Dr. Gilles, you know?”
“Please.” She scoffs. “You’re nothing like him.”
Y/N does her nightly rounds, checking on her various patients. A few people come in that need to be checked right away, but other than that things were quiet. Around six in the morning she and Harry go to check on little Beth again.
“Definitely only need you here another couple of nights. Keep getting those fluids in, and this fever will go away in no time.” Y/N says.
The girl nods at her tiredly before falling back asleep. Y/N helps out with some last minute patients before going to the breakroom to change. Harry was in there taking his shirt off. She tries not to stare as he pulls a sweatshirt on over himself. She wouldn’t have minded a few more moments to examine his tattoos. She knew he had a few just from his left hand alone, but shit, he had them all over his chest and stomach!
“Well, see you tonight. Hope you can get some sleep.” Harry says to her.
“Same to you.” She smiles and goes into her locker.
“I hope, uh, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable earlier in the night…” He rubs the back of his neck.
“You didn’t, it’s fine…I’m just one of those people that has a tough time taking a compliment. Um, it happened to me in school a lot too, like, if someone told me I was smart or something, you know?”
“Okay, I just wanted to make sure.”
“I appreciate that, Harry, thank you.”
He nods and heads out. On his way home he realizes he’s far too awake to be able to fall asleep, so when he gets into his flat he takes a sleeping pill, and nestles down with a cup of tea while he watches a little TV. Once his eyes feel tired he heads to bed, getting cozy under his blankets, and eventually passing out.
Y/N does something similar. She definitely takes a sleeping pill before jumping into a warm shower. She pulls her blackout curtains, and gets into bed. Her eyelids feel heavier and heavier as she listens to a podcast, and she slowly falls asleep.
//
Things went on like that for the next couple of weeks. Harry would often assist Y/N on her rounds. He liked that she wasn’t one of those snooty doctors that discounted the nurses, she really seemed to value their opinions, even consulting with them when she needed to. They became fast friends too, often eating together or taking coffee breaks at the same time. She learned that Harry was a couple of years younger than her, and he had been at this hospital for around five years. He explained he liked working at a hospital rather than a smaller practice so he could help more people, and she said she felt the same way.
“Maybe when I’m, like fifty, I’ll settle and open up my own practice. But only because I might not have the same spring in my step.” She chuckles as they both sit and enjoy some coffee.
“You can really sprint when you need to! You were incredible when that guy came in with that allergic reaction the other night.”
“I was internally freaking out the whole time to be honest with you. I was glad to have you there to help me intubate him.”
“Feel like I can do that with my eyes closed now.” He laughs and finishes his warm drink. “I hate to be one of those people, but you’re looking a little tired tonight.”
“Oh, that’s because I never left this morning. I worked all day, took a nap, and then got right back on it.”
“Y/N, that’s not okay. You can’t do your job properly if you’re tired.”
“I know, but we were short staffed, and I was only going to stay a couple of hours, but I got wrapped up with a couple of people. I’m fine, honest, I’ll have a good sleep when I get home later.”
“Shit like that used to happen to me all the time. I’d work sixteen hour days, and then they’d yell at me because I was getting so much overtime, and I’d tell them to hire more bloody people then. It was infuriating. Then you think the place is gonna fall apart without you when you finally do get some time off.”
“Literally! I think that’s why I got stuck here for so long. I have the next couple of days off, though, so I’m looking forward to that.”
“Yeah? Any big plans?”
“No.” She scoffs. “Not unless you consider binging a fuck ton of television while eating a gallon of ice cream big plans.”
“Depends on the show, what’s on the docket to be binged?”
“I’ve been meaning to sit down and watch Ratched. I’ve heard some mixed reviews, but I’m just so intrigued.”
“Mm, nothing better than a show about a crazy nurse.” He rolls his eyes.
“Aw, feeling a little misrepresented?” She smirks.
“Maybe a wee bit. Let me know if it’s worth the watch, though, yeah?”
“Definitely.” She finishes up her coffee and sighs. “Back to it I suppose.”
“Go lay down if you want, we’re not busy.”
“No, it’s fine. I’m catching a second wind.” She stands up and shakes her body out. “See, awake and ready to-“, her beeper goes off, “Shit, some teenagers were just brought in.”
They both hurry out of the breakroom, and go to where they’re needed. Three teenage boys were laying in hospital beds, clearly in pain.
“Alright, what seems to be the problem here?” Y/N says as Harry works on taking their vitals.
“We…fell off the water tower.” One of them says.
She sighs and starts checking for bumps and bruises. She doesn’t ask why they were there, she was sure their parents would rip them a new one for that. A few sprained ankles, and one broken wrist, but nothing too serious otherwise. Y/N gives her instructions to Harry, and tells the boys they’ll need to switch off between aspirin and ibuprofen to help with pain and inflammation. Harry gets the broken wrist into a splint and sling, and gets the others settled as well.
“Isn’t this a little backwards?” One of them says to him after Y/N’s left. “Isn’t she supposed to be the nurse?”
“Well, considering that she went to school for a lot longer than I did, and probably has a lot more knowledge about the body than I do, I’d say she’s supposed to be the doctor.” Harry says.
“Isn’t it weird being a male nurse though?”
“M’not a male nurse.” He makes some notes on the laptop he was using. “I’m just a nurse.” He closes the laptop and looks at the three of them. “Your parents should be here soon, hope you lot feel better, and be safer out there.”
It wasn’t the first time Harry got a comment like that, and it wouldn’t be the last. He didn’t go to school as premed and then go off to a fancy medical school. He majored in Allied Health in uni, and passed all his tests. That was it, and that was all he wanted to do. There was nothing wrong with that. He was proud of himself. He hoped Y/N was proud of herself too.
//
Flu shot season was in full swing, and there were usually a couple of days a year the hospital did walk-in appointments so people could come in easily to get them. Harry had picked up a shift to administer them. Y/N had come in to be on call so one of the other doctors could have the day off. She smiles when she sees Harry in the cafeteria at lunch.
“Hey, you.” She says as she sits down. “Weird seeing you in the daylight.”
“Could say the same to you. What’s all this about? Don’t tell me you’re working another triple…” He raises an eyebrow at her.
“No, I swapped shifts with Dr. Jollas so she could have the day with her kids. What are you doing here today?”
“I’m on for the flu shots. It’s an easy enough shift to pick up.”
“Get a lot of people in for that?”
“Sure, tons.”
“That makes me happy to hear.” She sighs.
“How were your couple of days off? Did you watch your show?”
“I only watched about two episodes…there was a lot more gore than I was expecting.”
“Y/N…you’re a doctor…”
“Yes, and I can handle small amounts of blood, especially when I’m in the moment helping someone, but there was literally a scene where they were showing how lobotomies were done and a scene where this kid cut off his own arms, so it was a bit much for me. Not something I should be watching alone, anyways.”
“That’s gross.” Harry grimaces. “Don’t blame you for not getting through it.”
“So I ended up just re-watching The Office for the millionth time. It was perfect.” She chuckles. “Are you working all of Halloween weekend?”
“I am.” He nods. “I hope you’ll add some flare to your outfit. The kids like it when we do.”
“Some flare, huh?”
“I have these scrubs that have pumpkins, ghosts, and black cats on them.”
“Hm, I’ll have to think about what I can add. I have some earrings with witches on them, that could be fun.”
“As long as you get into the spirt somehow. We all decorate the nurse’s station and everything. Ellie usually brings in cupcakes too.”
“Speaking of her…” Y/N leans in a bit. “Did you catch the rock on her finger? I’m happy for her and all, but she said she’s only been with her fiancé for eight months. It’s a bit fast.”
“Well, they were casual before they made things official. She was, uh, seeing a couple of people, and then he asked her to get serious and she did.” He shrugs.
“Oh, I see.” She nods and sits back. “I’m not judging or anything, I mean, I guess when you, you know.” She takes a bite of her food, and then leans back in. “Can I ask you something?” She whispers.
“Always.” He leans in as well. Harry be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy a spot of gossip, and Y/N had become his new favorite person to gossip with. It didn’t take them long to become the two bitches that are always talking shit about everyone else.
“Do people use the bunk room to bone?”
His face flushes, and then he clears his throat.
“Why would you ask me that?”
“Because you know everything about this place! I wish it was a singles only room because I swear I saw Nurse Halleran and Dr. Gilles coming out of there, and only one of the beds looked used.”
Harry makes a disgusted face and rolls his eyes.
“I feel bad for whoever he’s married to.” He shakes his head. “Scumbag.”
“Nurse Halleran’s married too! I could never do that. I mean, I’ve been in relationships before, and maybe I’ve thought someone else is attractive, I can appreciate a pretty face, but I would never cheat on my significant other. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”
“Same here. That’s, like, the ultimate betrayal. How do you even come back from that? I get that our jobs can make for lonely lives, but make the time count at home when you can.”
“Does he have kids?”
“No, I think that’s why he doesn’t feel bad about it. She has two kids, though, I don’t know, I only talk to her about work things if I can help it. I miss some of my girls from the day shifts, like, Shauna is super nice and has this really warm smile.”
“Feel like she’s the hospital granny.” Y/N smiles. “I like her a lot too, the few interactions I’ve had with her.”
“How long do you think they’ll keep you on the night shift for?”
“I have no idea, think I’m just paying my dues as the new doctor. I’m getting more used to it, it’s not too bad. If it goes through summer I can drag my bum to the beach and sleep there.” She laughs and so does he.
“Might have to join you for that, I love getting a good tan.”
“It’s a date.” She says, more so as a joke, but from the way he looks at her he may have taken it a different way, so she clears her throat and laughs it off. “Anyways, I better get back to it. Nothing worse than being in the middle of eating and the beeper going off.” She stands up. “Have a good one, Harry.”
“You too.” He watches her walk away, and he sighs.
//
On Halloween, Y/N goes in a few hours early because she was told they let the kids go around the halls to the different nurse’s stations to trick or treat, and she really didn’t want to miss out on it. She puts on her witches earrings, and some spooky pins for her coat, and out she goes. She stops off at the store to buy some extra candy, and puts it in a pumpkin shaped bucket. She smiles when she sees Harry behind the desk already in his Halloween scrubs.
“Excellent effort.” He says, and then taps his finger over his mouth in thought. “Could use a little something extra, though.”
“Yeah? Like what?” She sets the candy down on the desk and he walks around it.
“Follow me.” Y/N follows Harry into the breakroom, and he pulls a bag out of his locker. He has her go into the unisex bathroom wither, and she sits up on the counter for him. “I’m working a double today, I did some face painting earlier for some of the younger kids. Sort of a way to give them a costume for when they walk around.”
“Harry, why don’t you just solely work in pediatrics?”
“Because I did some face painting for the elderly too, now hush. I need to concentrate.”
He takes what looks like a black sharpie out of the bag, but Y/N recognizes it as liquid eye-liner.
“What exactly are you going to do with that? Give me cat eyes?” She chuckles.
“No, you dolt, we’d need hours for that. I’m just gonna draw a little spider web on your cheek, alright?”
“Okay.”
Harry had never been this close to her face before. She got a nice whiff of his cologne, and she liked being able to see the few freckles he had. She notices now he’s painted his nails black and orange, he must really like Halloween. She closes her eyes as he starts drawing on her right cheek. His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration. A slight gasp leaves her lips when his other hand grips her chin to tilt her head.
“Still just me, don’t worry.” He chuckles. “Don’t get jumpy on me.”
“M’not, sorry.” She sucks her lips into her mouth as his hand moves to the side of her neck. Y/N may or may not be a little touch starved.
“Almost done.” He says just as she was opening her eyes back up.
“Harry, has anyone ever told you how pretty your eyes are?”
“Shut up.” He scoffs, and finishes up. “All done, tell me what you think.”
“I mean it!” She says as he backs away enough for her to hop off the counter and turn around in the mirror. “Oh, excellent job. I especially like that you drew a little spider dangling from the web.”
“It’s my signature detail. Now you look perfect.” They look at each other through the mirror. “We should probably get out of here before someone thinks we’re boning.”
She bursts out laughing at that.
“Good one.” She says and shakes her head.
“It wasn’t that funny.” He mutters as he puts the bag back in his locker.
“N-no, it wasn’t.” She clears her throat. “Sorry.”
“Stop apologizing.” He nudges her shoulder and they walk back out to the main area.
The trick or treating was a lot of fun, and the kids seemed to have their spirits lifted. Then shit got real when the drunk people started coming in, the people the police had to bring in for psych evaluations, and the people that had too many edibles. It was crazy busy, Y/N had been running around all night. She was given the okay to go lay down for about thirty minutes since she had come in early. She stops short when she sees Harry laying in one of the bunks. He was laying on his side with his arms crossed over his chest. She quietly slips into one of the other bunks, and takes a deep breath.
“You’re awfully loud.” He says.
“Christ! I was quieter than a mouse!” She says, and turns to face him. He opens his eyes and grins at her. “Ah, you were just fucking with me.”
“Obviously.”
“Busy out there tonight. I mean, I expected it, but still.”
“I know.” He yawns and stretches out. “I’ve been in here too long, I need to go back out before I get groggy.” He swings his legs over the side of the bed and slowly gets up. “Have a nice snooze.”
“Thanks.” She chews her bottom lip for a moment. “Do you have any makeup wipes? I’d hate to wake up with a smudged web.”
“Oh, sure, one second.” He leaves momentarily and comes back in with a wipe for her cheek. Instead of handing it to her, he sits on the edge of her bunk, cups one of her cheeks in his hand, and uses the other to carefully wipe off the drawing. Her eyes flutter closed and she sighs. “There.” Her eyes open back up and she smiles softly at him.
“Thank you.”
There was something brewing between them, they could both feel it. He’s about to lean in to kiss her, but he hears the click of the door open, and stands up immediately. It was another doctor who was I desperate need of a snooze. Harry leaves, and Y/N tries to relax enough to fall asleep.
They don’t see each other again until the morning when they’re both getting ready to leave. He chews on his inner cheek, trying to work up a little bit of courage.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sure you’re probably tired, but…I have these, uh, pancake stencils where you can make pancakes look like pumpkins or ghosts…I thought maybe we could celebrate surviving Halloween together, but I’ll understand if you’re ready to just crash or-“
“I’d love to have breakfast with you.” She smiles as she closes her locker. “I’m gonna go home and shower. Text me your address, yeah?”
“Alright.” He smiles and watches her walk out.
//
Y/N takes a very quick shower so she can freshen up. She wasn’t sure what might go down between them. She felt like she was getting to be a little too old to just be hooking up with someone, but Harry was really great, so she decides to just go with the flow. She heads to his flat after he sent her his address, making sure to buy some orange juice as something to bring over.
He lets her in and she can’t get over how cozy he looks in his sweatpants, graphic tee, and cardigan. She was in a pair of leggings and a sweater.
“It smells so good in here.” She says.
“Thanks, I made some tea too if you want something warm.”
She nods and he pours her a cup. They giggle over the pancakes, and Harry confirms that Halloween is definitely one of his favorite holidays. The two decide it might be fun to watch a Halloween movie, but naturally after a long sift, they fall asleep together on his sofa. She was nestled into his chest with his arms wrapped around her. She would have slept longer, but she woke up to the sound of him snoring. She shuffles a little, but accidentally knees him in the groin, waking up immediately.
“Shit, I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize I was laying on you like this.”
“It’s fine.” He says as he reaches for himself. “I’m good.” He knuckles at one of his eyes, keeping his other arm around her. He looks at the TV screen and sees that something else had come on. “Slept through the movie…”
“Guess we got a little too comfy.” She looks up at him. “Forgot how nice it was to cuddle with someone.” She mumbles tiredly.
“We could…go to my bed if you want, have a proper cuddle.”
“Would you spoon me if we do that?”
“Yeah, if that’s what you want.”
She nods yes, so he manages to pick her up, and carry her to his bedroom. She almost didn’t want to let go him when he sets her down, but all is good once he slides in next to her, pulls the blankets over them, and he wraps himself around her. She sighs as his pelvis aligns with her bum, and his arm wraps around her waist.
“Good?” He asks.
“Mhm.” She wiggles against him to get even more comfortable.
“Don’t do that.”
“Why not.”
“Because I’ll get excited, and that’ll make things awkward.”
“Define excited.”
“You know exactly what I mean, Y/N.” He sighs.
“I wanna hear you say it.”
“I’ll get hard, and it’s already difficult enough to control that around you, so-“
“You can press it against me if you want, I don’t mind.” She looks over her shoulder at him.
“You’re serious?”
“If I wasn’t I certainly wouldn’t have let you carry me to your bed.” She rolls onto her other side to face him. “I like being your friend and all, but I’ve done this with someone who’s just a friend before. I…I feel like we almost kissed earlier…”
“We did. Can we try again now?”
“Please.”
His hand slides to the back of her neck and he pulls her closer to him. His lips still tasted like the syrup they put on their pancakes, and she likes it more than she really should. Her tongue swipes along his bottom lip, and he opens up for her. Their tongues swirl around each other, and she tugs him on top of her as she turns onto her back. One of his legs goes between hers, and she grunts when she feels his thigh right on her. She wraps her arms around his neck as their tongues still mold together.
She slips her other leg around his waist so he could lay full between her. He groans into her mouth as he grinds himself against her. A soft moan leaves her lips when she feels how hard he is. She could feel herself throbbing for him. He sits up a little, just to get his cardigan off, and her hands slide up his stomach under his shirt. He shudders from her touch, and he just takes his shirt off too. Her eyes widen as she can finally look over his tattoos.
“This is beautiful.” She says as her fingers trace over the butterfly on his torso.
“Thanks.” He smiles and gets back down to lay on her chest to chest as he kisses her.
He kisses from her lips, along her jaw, and to her neck, all while she’s grinding herself against him. One of his hands finds her hair and he yanks her head to the side so he can get better access to her neck. He licks over the spot just below her ear, and he sinks his teeth in. He sucks on her soft skin, and her mouth falls open. She normally wasn’t super into biting, but whatever he was doing felt really good. When he pops off her she puts her hand over the new bruise.
“That’s definitely gonna leave a mark.” She says to him.
“Kind of the whole point.” He smirks. “Maybe Dr. Gilles will leave you alone if he thinks you’re already getting it from someone else.”
“Not very professional though, is it?”
“That nice white coat of yours will cover it. Wear your hair down for a few days, no one will notice. Or maybe they will, oh well. I’ve never much cared what other people think.”
“That’s because you’re not the one walking around with a mark on your neck.” She pouts at him.
“I could be if you wanted to give me one.”
She bites her bottom lip to contemplate just about every little thing that’s going on between them. She had her legs around him, she was in his bed, and he was shirtless sucking marks into her neck.
“Are…are you going to fuck me?” She asks.
“Do you want me to?”
“Kinda.” She giggles. “You’re, um, really sexy, Harry.”
“Well, that’s very nice of you to say, but ‘kinda’ isn’t exactly a yes, Y/N.”
“Could we maybe just…touch each other? Below the belt?”
“Yeah, we can do that.”
He rolls them both over so they’re on their sides facing each other again, and he pulls her leg up over his hip. She reaches for him first, skimming her fingers along the band of his sweatpants before dipping her fingers him. His breath hitches as she palms him over his boxers.
“You’re okay with this?” She asks him.
“Very.” He grunts. “Go for it.”
She nods and slips her hand inside his boxers, wrapping her hand around his warm cock. She bites her bottom lip as she runs her thumb over his tip, which was already leaking precome, and she slides it down his length.
His hand grips her ass before sliding it around to her front, and pulling her leggings back so he can get his hand in. A moan leaves his lips when he feels her wetness through her thong. He pets over at first, teasing her a little, but she squeezes him a little too tight, and that was signal enough to get the show on the road. He tugs her thong to the side, and runs his fingers along her slit before dipping his middle finger inside her. She squeezes around the intrusion, and then she relaxes a bit for him.
Harry slides another finger inside her, and works them in and out as his thumb takes care of her clit. He leans in to kiss her as they work each other over. She sucks on his bottom lip as she pumps his slick cock in her hand. He finds himself bucking into her grasp, but neither seem to care since she was grinding against his fingers. He curls them up inside her, and that’s when she starts breathing heavily.
“Oh, shit.” Her mouth falls open and she starts pumping him faster. “Fuck, oh my god, H-Harry, it feels so good, don’t stop.” She was nearly gagging for it, and it shocked him to see her falling apart like this just from him fingering her.
“Y/N.” He moans and presses his forehead to hers. “I’m gonna come.”
“M-me too, shit.”
She feels her hand become warm and sticky as she comes around his fingers. She tightens around him to make it last as long as possible, and then she catches breath. She doesn’t want to make a mess of his sweat pants, so she takes her hand out slowly, keeping as much of his come in her palm as she can. They make eye contact, and she licks her palm clean. He does the same by sucking his fingers into his mouth.
“You’re, like, a little kinky.” She chuckles and so does he.
“You literally just did the same as me!”
“I was trying not to make a mess of your sheets!”
“I can wash ‘em.” He laughs more, and then tucks some hair behind her ear. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”
“I’m thinking you like me a little more than I thought.”
“A lot more, actually. You like me too?”
“Yeah.” She smiles. “I like you, Harry.”
“Thank god, I didn’t want this to be awkward at work.”
“Just don’t try to get busy with me in the bunk room. I will not contribute to that.”
“Listen, when you’re tired and desperate, it’s not such a bad place to get frisky.”
“I’ll take your word for it.” She rolls her eyes. “Could I use your bathroom quick? And then if you don’t mind, I would actually love to sleep a bit more.”
“Of course! And yeah, that sounds good.”
She uses his bathroom, and he cleans himself up. He offers some pajama pants a tee shirt, and she happily accepts. She changes and crawls back into bed with him. He spoons her, and rubs at her side, giving her a kiss once in a while on the back of her neck. As she falls asleep in his arms she thinks she had never been so thankful to work on a holiday in her life.

Always the Bridesmaid, never the bride (A Timo Werner imagine)
This is my first fanfiction so I apologise if it’s not great, I’d love to improve. I’m quite nervous to post this haha. Hope you enjoy nevertheless though and I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
It was the same old story for Y/N. An invitation to a wedding and a request that she’d be a bridesmaid and thus she had a lot of responsibility. This was nothing new however, it was actually the opposite, for Y/N this was the third wedding that she’d be attending as a bridesmaid and whilst she was honoured that her friends wanted her to have such an influential role in their special day, she couldn’t help but be jealous, longing to be in their place, shrouded in white. She longed for the moment where she’d commit to the man she’d love for the rest of her life.
Unfortunately for Y/N, she hadn’t found Mr Right yet and she hadn’t exactly been actively looking. Her love life was pretty much non existent and had been for a while, it had all dried up and there was a drought in her heart that she was waiting for that special person to fill.
After being run off her feet for hours supporting the bride, her dear friend Katie and making sure that her groom (a certain Chelsea left back by the name of Ben Chilwell) wasn’t tempted to peek, Y/N got ready herself in a royal blue dress, chosen by the bride to reflect her groom’s team and then joined the ceremony. It was beautiful and she had to be careful not to shed a tear or two, not wanting to spoil her makeup. Only then did the reception party begin.
Following the first dance of the newly wedded and blissfully happy couple, the party kicked off in full flow with music and dancing and drinks flowing from the bar. Y/N smiled to herself, quietly observing with her drink in the corner, sipping at it occasionally and humming to some of the songs. Unbeknownst to her though, she had an admirer. Timo Werner. The blond haired German was quietly observing her from across the room, taking in how happy and relaxed she looked. He watched her for a short time, trying to work up the courage to talk to her but doubting himself every time. ‘What if she doesn’t want to be disturbed?’, he asked himself. ‘What if you embarrass yourself?’ His train of thought was interrupted by both the groom and his fellow German, Kai Havertz both of whom had noticed him staring, utterly transfixed by the mystery woman. He was startled when they appeared next to him, heart rate spiking in fear and a rush of breath leaving him as he almost jumped out of his skin. They laughed between themselves at his terror,finding it rather amusing and began to tease him. ‘You know Timo’ Kai started, struggling to hide his smile ‘staring is usually considered to be quite rude’
Ben chimed in ‘You should probably go and introduce yourself and try and make conversation like a normal person. You don’t want to give off the wrong impression. Oh and don’t even try and deny it Timo’ he said seeing the faux confusion in Timo’s eyes
‘Alright you got me, I was looking at her but I can’t just go over. What would I say? Hi I’m Timo and I’m the guy who’s been staring at you for the past 5 minutes?’ He blushed, embarrassed to have been caught. He felt to shy to go over, he didn’t have the guts and was worried that she’d think he was strange and that he wouldn’t have a chance with her. She was beautiful and he was sure there was more to her than what met the eye and he felt certain that she would have already have found someone. He felt jealous of that person and hoped that they felt lucky to have her.
‘Well maybe don’t admit to staring at her for 5 minutes’ Ben laughed at his friend ‘but introduce yourself. Talk to her, you never know what might happen. Katie speaks really highly of her’
Timo sighed, he knew his friend was right. There was only one way of finding out and that was to gain some confidence and go over to her so he took a deep breath and went over before he could talk himself out of it, Ben and Kai clapping him on the back in support.
The sound of his dress shoes reverberated against the floor, alerting Y/N to his approach. She looked up slightly, sending Timo a soft, shy smile. She had also been secretly checking him out, admiring his sharp features.
Finally he stood in front of her and was able to see her beauty close up, including the stunning smile she sent him. ‘Hi, I’m Timo’ he said nervously ‘I don’t think we’ve met’
‘You’re right, I don’t think we have. I’m Y/N’ she smiled, reaching out her hand which he shook. She too felt apprehensive, unused to being the centre of attention especially by a man and an attractive one at that. She blushed at the thought, cheeks blooming into a soft pink.
‘Nice to meet you. You were a bridesmaid right?’
‘I was, it’s my third time being one. I think you could say that ‘always the bridesmaid never the bride’ would be an accurate phrase to sum me up’ she laughed awkwardly, cursing herself for admitting that. Great she thought, now he thinks that no one wants you.
Timo just smiled however and made no comment on that. ‘I can’t dance very well but I noticed you looking at the dance floor earlier and I wondered, would you like to dance with me?’ He held out his hand shyly, hope gleaming in his brown eyes. She took his hand, smiling and nodded. She wanted to get to know the German and she felt butterflies in her stomach when he offered to dance with her. She found him endearing, with everything from his strong accent and English to his gentle eyes, warm and comforting.
As they danced albeit a little clumsily with Timo’s footwork not being quite as good as it would be if he had a ball at his feet, they both felt oddly content despite being relative strangers as they conversed gradually learning more about each other. Timo told her what it was like playing football for a club like Chelsea and how it wasn’t always easy, he told her about his hometown Stuttgart and about Leipzig as she listened intently, offering him a comforting ear when he admitted his struggles with Chelsea (he felt oddly at ease telling her despite it being their first meeting) and she reacted with a keen interest when he told her about Germany, having never been herself and in return she told him about her life in England where she’d been born and raised, how she’d become friends with Katie and her job working as a florist, where she’d created the beautiful centrepieces and the bride’s stunning bouquet. She’d thought carefully about the flowers included and the meanings they had and Timo admired her as she told him about her love for the flowers she included and how thoughtful she appeared to be, taking care so that everything would be perfect for her friend.
By the end of the night they’d swapped numbers with a promise to meet up in the week with Timo bucking up the courage to ask her on a date. They left each other reluctantly, both of them excited to see where this would go and Timo couldn’t help but to internally thank Ben and Kai because without them he wouldn’t have had this opportunity. Only time would tell if Y/N would finally be able to call herself the bride one day and neither of them could wait.

The perfect life
This is the third story I wrote today but this time I decided why not go back to my roots and put all the Nalu week prompts together and make one big one-shot so here it is. Disclaimer I didn’t proofread this so I hope it makes sense 😭 sorry for the gaps I am uploading from my phone 🥲
Lucy looked back on the past few years of her life and laughed. She couldn’t believe how much her life had changed over these years.
Little did she know that when she met an obnoxious pink haired boy with an equally obnoxious blue cat that fateful day in that port town of Hargeon that they would change her life.
She remembered how they both found each other annoying but he agreed to help her get into fairy tail so she put how much he annoyed her and left the town with him.
She couldn’t stand being around him and even after she joined his team she found him rude and annoying.
Somehow at some point though they both started getting over themselves and actually developed a relationship that Lucy had never expected they would have. Somehow Natsu went from being the last person she wanted to be around to being one of her best friends. Somehow the blonde found herself trusting her life with Natsu. Somehow she found herself actually enjoying his presence.
And one day during a job she realized she had fallen for him. She didn’t know why but she did. She didn’t want to so she suppressed those feelings she had for her teammate for years, scared of the rejection.
She tried going on dates with other guys, hoping that maybe she could get past her stupid crush, but everytime she was only wishing it was Natsu with her instead of the unforgettable guys who she couldn’t remember the names of now
Everytime she was away from that stupid grin of his she missed it, and she hated that.
She ended up convincing herself that Natsu wasn’t into these types of things so she never chased after him. She never planned on telling him how she felt.
Until one day, she remembered it was winter and the two of them were walking alone, she looks back and wonders where was Happy that night? She doesn’t know, she’s isn’t even sure if she knew that night.
She held onto his hand that no matter what it was always warm when he said the words “you know I love you right!”
“Yeah dummy,” she punched his shoulder playfully before leaning her head against it “I love you too”
“No, I mean… I mean I love you, Lucy” he said in a serious tone which stopped Lucy dead in her tracks. She didn’t believe what she was hearing
“You love me? In what way?” She asked, stunned at his words that were oh to good to be true
“I love ya Lucy, I have for years and I figured if you felt the same you would have said something by now since you are better with emotions then me but honestly I can’t keep it bottled up anymore. I love you” Lucy stood still, scared that if she moved that this would all just be a dream.
So her lips moved for her
“I love you too,” she said softly. Natsu’s body then reacted by leaning down slightly and kissing her lip tenderly. And she enjoyed it.
After their kiss outside the park that cold evening she let him take her out on some dates. They weren’t your average dates and definitely not the dates Lucy had dreamed of but what did she expect when she fell in love with Natsu Dragneel.
He thought that taking jobs alone together counted as a date so sometimes he did what he does best and drag her off on a surprise job. Other times they would actually go to restaurants but Lucy usually was the one who had to pay as he would admit he had spent all his money, Lucy would just roll her eyes and laugh at him. Other times they would just hang out in her apartment and just talk for hours, losing track of time, those were their favorites.
One day however he took her out to just walk. It was a winter night much like the one they had confessed to each other one the year prior. Lucy held onto Natsu’s hand similarly as she did the last time however this time Natsu was the first one to let go, an unwelcome cold engulfed her hand.
“Natsu?” Lucy pouted as he walked a few feet in front of her “is something wrong, love?”
“No” he turned to her with his signature grin present on his face, he then started walking back to her till he was able to grab both of her hands. She smiled at the warmth “have I ever told you how much I love you?” He asked
“Every day” she giggled, he smiled at her laugh
“How about how beautiful you are?” He asked and she smiled and nodded “A bunch actually”
“Good” he smiled down at her before letting go of one of her hands and putting the free hand in his pocket and then pulling out a small box. Lucy looked at him confused, still holding onto his warm hand.
Natsu then got down on one knee and opened up the small box with only one hand. Lucy gasped as she saw the small diamond ring in the box. Natsu looked at her for a second before his face turned completely red and he closed his eyes. The only words he managed to get out at that moment was “marry me”. Lucy smiled at her embarrassed boyfriend before leaning down to grab his face and sweetly kiss him.
As she pulled away she simply said “yes” and that is all either of them needed.
She smiled at herself in the vanity mirror as she gently rocked the baby in her arms to sleep.
“Aunt Lucy!” Both Shutora and Yajeh cried happily as they ran towards Lucy
“You ready?” the happy voice of Levy filled the room as her twins gently hugged Lucy, cautious about the baby in her arms
“I’m nervous” Lucy laughed as she leaned back against the chair
“Aw Lu, there is no need to be nervous” Levy smiled, sitting down in a chair next to her “everything is going to be fine, and then after this you two can make some more cute babies” Levy smiled as she tickled Nasha’s belly. Lucy softly slapped her best friend
“Levy just because that’s what you did doesn’t I should” Lucy rolled her eyes as Levy laughed
“Aw come on it’s not such a bad idea” she grinned, resting a hand on her almost 9 month belly.
“I’ll think about it” Lucy said to get Levy to hush “now can you help get her into her dress?”
The wedding wasn’t very traditional but neither was their relationship. Most people got married in the cathedral while they got married under the tree that he once uprooted and sailed down the canal, something Lucy is still unsure of how he did it. Shutora and Yajeh were the flower girl and ring bearer, Levy was the maid of honor, and Erza, Wendy, and Mira were all bridesmaids. Natsu didn’t necessarily have groomsmen but Levy, Erza, and Juvia all threatened Gajeel, Jellal, and Gray to play the part. Gajeel and Gray booed Natsu when he spoke, which got them momentarily thrown out of the wedding and made Lucy and Natsu laugh. Lucy couldn’t say that it was her fairytale dream wedding but she did know that I sure was a Fairy Tail wedding so what could she expect.
All Lucy’s life she had dreamed of the perfect dream relationship and if little her could see her she would probably be a little upset about how it played out but Lucy isn’t and is glad that finally after all these years she can finally be surrounded by her chosen family, even if they aren’t perfect.

Half As Pretty
Heather Series Part 5
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
The Song Mentioned in the chapter, Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars aka, the song that made me sob because it was too perfect for this damn fic. I recommend listening to it while you read the part its mentioned in.
Tumblr media
Summery: Reader is experiencing her own personal hell, but one midnight confession sets everything ablaze.
Words: 3.4k I told y’all it’d be longer.
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of nicotine addiction, the beginning of an alcohol addiction, suicidal thoughts, slight manipulation from one Derek Morgan, and just a whole lotta hurt.
Paring: Spencer Reid x Heather Charmical, eventual (I promise) Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
A/N: Okay.....I’m finna be real honest.....I was listening to my music on shuffle when Poison and Wine came on, and I started crying while typing, and than I re-listened to it while typing this up and proceeded to cry again. It took me about 3 minutes of psyching myself up to write ONE sentence near the end of it because I knew there was no going back once I wrote it. This was so hard to write in the most beautiful way possible, and I really hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Shout out to @toosassy2handle for the recommendation of Heather's last name. It’s long and annoying and just reminds me of a stuck up bitch so its perfect.
~~~~~~
I used to love weddings.
They were always so well put together.
I’d always admire the pretty bride, the dress, everything.
I dreamed of having one of my own one day. And when I met Spencer, those daydreams changed so that I was walking down the aisle towards him instead of someone whose face I could never quite focus on.
But that’s all I’m ever going to have. Daydreams.
Because here I sit, all dolled up next to his mother, at none other than Spencer Reid’s wedding.
It’s obvious Heather did most of the planning.
I don’t take him as a ‘dusty rose’ type of person.
I stare at the soft colors and delicate flowers, and fire burns deep within me.
I want to burn this place to the ground.
I can’t, though.
I’m supportive.
I’m happy for Spencer.
I’m happy that he’s happy.
I’m happy.
I’m happy.
I’m happy.
I look down at my hands, playing with the hem of my burgundy party dress.
I don’t think I’ve been this dressed up since….
I think I threw that dress away when I got home that night.
I don’t remember much of that night after coming back to the table.
I’m positive I drank at least half the champagne they had.
Derek had to carry me home.
“My son didn’t plan any of this.”
I look over, and see Diana scowling at the decor.
I can’t help but let a small smile spread across my face.
At least she agrees with me.
I lean in closer to her, so our words can only be heard by us.
“I completely agree. He’s more of a ‘dark academia’ kind of guy.”
She smiles at me, reaching her hand over, and patting my leg. “You know when he told me he was getting married, I thought it was going to be to you.”
My heart stops. “Y-You did?”
She nods, looking around the room like she hadn’t just said something that made my world stop spinning. “I didn’t meet Heather until a week after he told me. That’s when I learned that they were dating in the first place. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed.”
I bring a hand up to my mouth, covering the smile and laugh threatening to spill.
“But she makes him happy. Anyone can see that.”
The smile falls, and the laugh dies.
“Though, he did bring you to meet me not too long after meeting you himself.”
I nod, remembering the trip. “It had been a month. I had known him for a month, and he really wanted me to meet you. I was so nervous. I really wanted you to like me.”
Her smile is big, and her hand finds one laying in my lap, squeezing it.
“I liked you the minute he told me about you.”
I loved Diana.
I will always love Diana.
I open my mouth to say something, but someone a few rows back says ‘Here comes the groom.’
I turn my head, and low and behold, there he is, walking with the biggest smile on his face towards the front. He stands, with his hands clasped in front of him, as he waits like the rest of us.
He looks stunning, in a simple black and white tux.
His eyes meet mine, and I smile at him.
He winks back at me.
The moment doesn’t last long before a song starts, and a hush falls over the crowd.
Slowly, one by one, bridesmaids and groomsmen make their way down the aisle.
Derek is the best man, and he pats Spencer's shoulder as he takes his position behind him.
And then the music shifts, and while she starts to walk, something dawns on me.
I will never be as pretty as she is.
She’s breathtaking.
She’s practically glowing in the white satin ballgown, a bouquet of roses clutched in her hands.
She’s looking around at the crowd, smiling and nodding and it’s only when she’s halfway down the aisle that she meets his eyes.
I look at him, and I don’t think there are any words that can explain the look of pure joy written across his face.
JJ, who is sitting beside me, reaches over and grabs my free hand, giving it a comforting squeeze.
She reaches the front, and all eyes are trained on her, but I can’t tear mine away from him.
He holds her hand so delicately, and I can see him fighting back tears.
I don’t even notice when vows are said and rings are exchanged. I only notice when I see JJ look at me from the corner of her eye as the officiant says “If anyone has any objection to the marriage of these two people, speak now, or forever hold your peace.”
For a moment, I think about it.
“Me! I do!”
The crowd gasps as I make my way towards the front.
“I do. I object.”
His eyes are wide and she looks furious.
“Why do you object?” The officiant says, startled.
“Because I love you.” I’m looking directly at him.
“I love you, Spencer.”
No.
No, I can’t.
I’d lose everything.
You’d be a selfish bitch is what you would be.
“Then do you, Heather Charmical, take Spencer Reid to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do.”
Tears are lipping out of my eyes, though my eyes are not the only wet ones in the room.
I can blame it on the emotions. I wouldn’t be technically lying.
“And do you, Spencer Reid, take Heather Charmical, to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
Please say no.
“I do.”
I don’t have a heart anymore.
This just confirmed it.
“Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
He takes her face between her hands, and places his lips on hers in a passionate kiss.
That’s it.
They’re married.
People clap and cheer, and they lock hands, walking back down the aisle, now together by law.
I want to puke.
People start to get up, and I suddenly can’t breath.
My chest rises and falls, and I shoot a glance at JJ, before making my way through the crowd as respectively as possible to leave the room as quickly as I can.
I look down to my bag once I make my way into the vast hallway, digging and searching for my cigarettes when I ram into someone, dropping my purse, and spilling the contents over the smooth tile floor.
“Fuck.”
“Hey hey hey, what’s the rush baby girl?”
I look up to see Derek, kneeling down to help me pick up my stuff.
“I just, I just um,”
Breath, y/n, just fucking breath.
“I just really need to find a bathroom. I shouldnt have drank all that tea before coming here.”
I shove things back into my purse, not even really looking, before standing back up.
“I’ll find you and Pen in a bit. Promise.”
I don’t wait for him to answer, turning and walking away before he gets a chance to speak.
I’ll find a bathroom eventually.
~~~~
When is an appropriate time to leave the wedding of your best friend, whom you're secretly in love with, without seeming rude?
Because I need to leave.
I’m afraid of what I’ll do if I don’t.
My right leg is crossed over my left, shaking with every anxious heartbeat.
People have plates full of food, and are mingling with drinks from the open bar, another thing that I know for a fact Spencer had nothing to do with.
I’ve barely touched the food on my plate, my appetite gone, at least not for anything other than the fruity little cocktails that keep appearing in front of me.
I’m about to get up and find someone, probably JJ, that I got sick in the ladies room, and to tell Spencer I’m sorry, when he walks up to where I’m seated, his hand outstretched for me.
“Come dance with me.”
The liquor in my system makes me giggle.
“I thought you didn’t like dancing?”
“I’ll make an exception for my favorite girl.”
Don’t let Heather hear you say that.
I place my hand in his, and let him lead me to the dance floor, where he spins me, before bringing me in close to him, resting a hand on my hip, and grasping my left hand with his other.
My hand not in his rests comfortably on his upper arm, and we sway, back and forth to the soft music.
My heart is pounding in my chest, and I’m positive he can feel every heartbeat through the layers of our clothing.
The lights are soft, and the music is gentle. If I close my eyes, and don’t think about it, I can imagine that this is our first dance, at our wedding that will never happen.
“Thank you, for coming y/n.”
My eyes open, and I can’t hide from him anymore. His eyes don’t falter from my own, and his smile is small.
“Of course I’d come. Why wouldn’t you think I would?”
“I don’t know. You’ve seemed off these past couple months. I didn’t know if you’d be up for it.”
Shit shit shit.
I laugh off my panic. “Spence, I could be bleeding out on my apartment floor, and I would still make it here. You mean everything to me. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
He grimaces at the thought of me dying, but the words that follow erase the worry on his face. “You’d tell me if something was wrong right? Everything’s okay?”
I smile at him, placing my head against his shoulder so I don’t have to look him in the eye when I lie. “Everything is fine. I’m okay. I promise.”
You’ve gotten way too good at lying to him. What’s gonna happen when he finds out? About your secret? About how it's getting harder and harder for you to get out of bed in the morning because it’s just not worth it anymore? Or about your depleting alcohol cabinet, since every night you seem to think drowning out your sorrows will make it easier to sleep?
He rests his chin on my head and we just sway back and forth to the music.
His fingers start gently playing with my own, and I hear him softly singing to himself as we dance.
“Oh, your hands can heal, your hands can bruise.” His hand moves from my hip to my lower back, holding me there against him as he continues to sing.
“I don’t have a choice, but I still choose you.”
I move my face farther into his shoulder, like I could disappear if I wanted to. This feels too intimate, feels too wrong. I should step away and congratulate him, tell him to go find his wife for god's sake, and leave with my dignity still intact.
But I don’t want to. I’ve dreamed of him holding me like this, and the words he’s whispering I know are for only me to hear.
“Oh I don’t love you, but I always will. I don’t love you, but I always will.”
Whoever the dj is, deserves a raise, because while this song is totally not for a wedding, it’s perfect for this moment.
“I always will. I always will.”
The song ends, and we stand, still together, for a second longer than we probably should.
“I’m sorry to break you two up, but I was wondering if I could convince my son to dance with his mother.”
Diana’s voice is soft, and I smile against his shoulder before moving back, removing myself from him.
His eyes are wet.
“Of course, Diana. He’s all yours.”
She turns to me before I walk away, pushing stray hairs out of my face, fixing my necklaces and smoothing out my dress. “Heather looked like she was about to burst into flames. I thought I’d save you from a public sacrifice.”
Fuck.
“Thank you, Diana.”
She kisses my forehead before turning back to Spencer, and I use the time to walk back over to my table, grab my purse and make my way out of the room.
I find a balcony of sorts, and the cool December air cools my skin.
I once again dig through my purse to find my cigarettes, pulling out the pack once I do. When I open it, however, I find it empty.
I smoked my last one and didn’t even realize it.
“Damnit!” I crush it in my hands, before placing it back in my purse.
The sun is setting, and I can see my breath.
I walk forward to the stone railing, looking out over the small park below the building. The stone is rough beneath my palms, and dark spots appear as I cry for the second time today.
I don’t have a choice, but I still choose you.
He couldn’t have meant it the way I’m thinking he meant it. He was just singing along to a song he’s probably heard thousands of times the past couple months.
But it’s too perfect not to.
Is it possible? Did he love me? If he did, does he still love me?
“Aren’t you cold, sweetheart?” Derek’s voice startles me, and I jump a little.
“Uh, no. It feels nice. It was getting a little stuffy in there so I thought I would come get some air.”
He hums, and walks up to stand beside me, his hands in his pockets.
“You know, when you dropped your purse earlier, an envelope fell out.”
My eyes widen.
“It didn’t have anything written on it, so I just assumed it was for Spencer and Heather and put it with the others. You seemed like you had other things on your mind so I thought I’d help.”
No no no no no no no no this isn’t happening. This isn’t real, he didn’t just give my love confession to the now married man it’s about and his wife. Oh my god, I’m gonna die.
“Y-You what?! No no no, that wasn’t meant for them. No no no. Holy shit.” I start pacing back and forth, combing my hands through what little of my hair was down.
“I need to go get it. He’ll understand. It’s just a big mix up. He can’t have that envelope.”
I turn ready to run back into that room and make a scene when Derek speaks from behind me.
“You mean this envelope?” I turn and there he stands, holding it in his hand.
My stomach rises from my feet. “Jesus fucking christ, Morgan. That’s not fucking funny.” I walk forward to grab it, but he’s taller than I am, and raises it out of my reach. “I never said it was.”
“Give it back, Derek.” Even in heels I can’t quite reach his hand.
“I will, once you tell me what's in it that gets you so worked up at the thought of Spencer having it.”
I don’t meet his eye as I reach for it again. “It’s nothing. It’s none of your business.”
“Baby girl, I see the way you look at him.” He grabs my wrist with his free hand, lowers himself so he can look at me straight on. “And that dance that you two just had? That’s not nothing and you know it.”
My lip trembles and I remove my arm from his grasp, walking back to the railing.
If you jump, this could all end. You wouldn’t have to explain anything. It's a perfect cop out.
I pinch the bridge of my nose, my voice shuddery when I talk. “You have to promise not to tell anyone. Not even Penelope. And especially not Spencer.”
He stands close by my side, his eyes on my face as I stare out over the park. “I promise.”
Is this what having a heart attack feels like?
I take a short breath in, it's all I can muster, and speak.
“It’s a confession. I’m horrible with words, so I wrote it down to give it to him.”
“What were you confessing?”
Tears resume to fall down my face, and I pinch at my cuticles. “That I’m in love with him.”
I feel Derek shift to look down at the railing, the envelope placed in between us.
“I confessed that I’m in love with him. That I have been since the moment I met him. I know how horrible it is, I know but I couldn’t keep it in any longer. Even if he never finds out, I needed to put it out there that I love him.”
“You’re in love with me?”
I choke on my breath, and my nails dig into the stone.
No. Please no. Please tell me this is all just a nightmare, and I’ll wake up this morning and it’ll have never happened.
My body is frozen, but I manage to turn to see him standing in the doorway, a look of pure shock written across his face.
He looks like I just slapped him.
“Spencer, oh my god.” It’s nothing more than a whisper, but it feels like a scream ripping from my chest.
“Y-You’re in love with me? When-, I-,” he runs his hands through his hair, and takes a step forward.
I'm sobbing, and I can’t stop. This wasn’t supposed to happen. This was never supposed to happen. “Spencer, I-I’m sorry. I didn’t plan on you finding out like this.”
“When were you going to tell me?” His voice cracks, and I realize then that he’s not angry. He’s hurt.
I have to be honest with him now. I can’t lie to him. It’s over. The ruse is over.
I’m finished.
My fists clench and unclench as I try my best to keep my emotions under control.
“I was going to tell you the day you introduced me to Heather.”
His eyes flicker to the envelope resting on the railing, and they gloss over for a second as he remembers that day.
“You told me-”
“I lied. I lied and said it was for my mom, but it wasn’t.” I cross my arms in front of me, a chill settling itself on my skin.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
I wish his voice would get louder. I wish he would scream at me. I deserve to be screamed at.
“You were dating someone, Spencer. You had been dating someone, and you had just introduced me to her. What would you have wanted me to do?”
“Not lie to me!” There we go. Get angry. Hate me.
“Why? What would you have done!? What would have happened if I didn’t care about your relationship with her and just given it to you?”
It’s getting darker, and the light pouring outside from the building is the only one to see by, so I can’t really make out his face.
“I don’t know! I have no idea of knowing, but I do know that I wish you wouldn’t have lied to me. You’ve been hiding from me, Y/N. Please stop hiding from me. I can help you.”
I roll my eyes, my vision going blurry from the tears. “No you can’t Spencer. You’re married. Did you forget that?”
He’s quiet, and I can see Derek shift his gaze from between us, not really knowing what to do.
His voice is substantially softer when he speaks next.
“Give me the letter.”
I choke back the noisy sobs. “No.”
He repeats himself, holding out his hand.
“Please, give me the letter.”
“Why?” I’m exhausted. Can’t this conversation just end?
“Because I need to know that you loved me like I loved you.”
Loved?
He just told you to your face, that while he may have loved you once upon a time, he doesn’t anymore. He doesn’t love you anymore. He doesn’t love you.
I can’t fight this anymore.
“Please don’t hide from me anymore.” He pleads, and I can feel myself beginning to go numb. Whether it’s from the cold, or my mind starting to shut down, I have no idea.
I grab the envelope from where it sits, walking forward and handing it to him.
He brings it to his jacket, tucking it safe inside one of the pockets.
“I’ll call you. Okay? And we can talk this out.”
There’s no talking this out, Spencer. What’s done is done.
He looks between me and Derek, and without another word, he walks back into the building, shoulders tense, and head down.
This is it. This is the end of the line. Nothing will be the same.
“Y/n….”
I don’t respond. I just turn, grabbing my purse and walking down the stairway the leads to the park from the balcony.
My tears leave hot streaks against my cold skin.
A snowflake lands on my nose.

Tumblr media
Seth x reader: The Altar
WARNING: Sad af.
***
August of 1998—Pre-K
“HEY! Leave him alone!” Y/n pushes Leo, another kid in your grade, off the new kid at school.
“Y/n! What have I said about pushing other students?” Ms. Carmichael says, going up to Y/n.
“But he was hitting him! And no one was stopping it!” You yelled, stating facts to the wretched woman. She shakes her head and reaches to grab the new kid on the ground.
“Are you okay Seth?” The teacher helps the kid up. He nods his head and looks at you with a smile. “Well then, Seth, Y/n, Leo, follow me. The principal waits for you.” We follow the she-beast and you wait for your punishment. As you’re sitting outside waiting for Leo to get done with his lame of excuse, you sneak a conversation with the kid named Seth.
“Hey, Seth, right?” he looks at you with wide eyes and nods his head. “You okay? Fat butt in there is mean to everyone and tends to hurt the smaller kids.” He smiled at the name.
“I’m okay. Thank you…”
“Y/n, Y/n Y/L/n. at your service sir.” I said with a smile with a missing tooth. He smiles back.
“Woah, you already lost a tooth?”
“I lost three. See!” Y/n proceeds to show him your mouth and all your missing teeth.
“Woah…I’ve only lost two. And they’re a pain in the” looks around, “butt.” They both laugh at the word butt.
“Wanna be my best friend?” Y/n ask randomly.
“SURE!” he says with excitement.
“Ms. Y/L/N, Mr. Clearwater! No talking!” Said the receptionist.
“Sorry.” They said in unison, looking at each other trying to not laugh.
October of 2007—7th grade; Halloween
“Oh, come on Seth! Tell me! Please…I’ll be your best friend!” Seth stops, looks at me with a grin and a side-eye.
“Y/n, we’re already best friends. What!?” he laughs, bumping shoulders with you.
“Okay, yes. But come on. Just tell me!”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“…”
“…”
“Vampire.” I look at him with a blank face. Then start laughing.
“Ugh, this is why I didn’t want to tell you.” He starts walking away.
“No, sorry. I wasn’t laughing at that. I was laughing at the fact that we were almost going as the same thing dum-dum.” He stops and smiles.
“Really?” he smiles.
“Yes. I was debating as a witch or a vampire. So, since you’re the vampire, I’ll be a witch.” You smile next to him. You were low-key laughing at it, but seeing as it is Seth, and anytime he looks anything but happy always hurts you, you could never laugh at him for certain things. He wraps his arm around your shoulder and you guys walk home to get ready.
“Bet I can beat you to my house.” He says pulling you down and taking off.
“NO FAIR!” you state chasing after him.
Summer of 2010—Before 10th-grade year.
Nothing. No call, no text, not even visitation. I had gone over to the Clearwater’s house yesterday, only to be turned away by Harry.
“Sorry Y/n, Seth still isn’t well.” Sue standing behind him with a sad look on her face.
“Can you at least tell him I stopped by, and to call me? I’m worried about him.” You say with tears in your eyes. Desperate to hear from your best friend and crush. You had developed hard feelings for the small raven head boy. He was everything to you always but was more before 8th-grade year. You didn’t know or understand what was happening, but you knew your feelings for Seth were nothing but genuine strong feelings.
The funny thing was you knew he felt it back. Those times where you two would get lost in each other’s eyes, the times where a kiss was almost shared but rudely interrupted by the arguments of Leah and Sue over trivial things. The slight touches and spark that flew between the two. Not even a blind person could miss the way you two responded to each other. Hell, your moms would secretly plan your wedding to one another. They even created a budget for the both of you for damn sakes!
But at that moment, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that boy you’ve always loved was okay. And if you could get one word from him, everything would be fine. You saw Leah coming to the front door about to head off somewhere. She stops and looks at you with a defeated look on her face.
“Y/n/n. I was just heading out. Let me walk you home.” You knew, since childhood, not to question the girl who was, basically, your older sister. She always protected you and, unknowing to her, you idolized her. Her strong will and strength you gained came from watching Leah. You looked down and nodded your head and followed her. At your porch step, she finally said something that broke you to pieces.
“You and Seth are done. I’m sorry Y/n, but…Seth…he’s not the Seth you know. I’m sorry.” She says, running off somewhere. Your eyes followed her until she became blurry with tears. You started to hyperventilate and didn’t want to be home. So, you dropped your bag and ran. You didn’t know where you just ran in the opposite direction and didn’t stop until you were on the edge of the forest. You recall Harry telling you to never step into the forest after a bunch of people from Forks have gone missing. And abiding by his rules, you don’t. You find a spot near the tree line and let it out. You stay there for a while and let all the tears fall as the warm summer rain hits your skin.
May of 2012—Senior year; Graduation day.
After that faithful day where you cried near the forest, you vowed to try to get Seth to talk to you. You were determined to have him to say something, anything, about what the hell was going on. But all you got was the cold shoulder, a growl, or his friends telling you to back off. He wouldn’t even look at you. You became bitter and he became a thing of the past. Your feelings for him came to a halt as you lost touch with the boy you’ve always loved.
It finalized in the middle of the first semester that year. You decided to wait sometime after Harry’s death to return everything. Even at the funeral, he avoided you. It was then, your feelings harden, and everyone could see it. So, it was no shock to Sue when you came by to return his things in exchange for yours. Since he wasn’t home, you took that chance to do so and left without saying a word, a note, or anything. Plus, you doubt he would’ve noticed.
But he did. When he returned home that evening, he instantly knew you were in his room. He could not only feel it, but he smelt your fragrance, he smelt you. He noticed the trinkets, sweaters, and brush all gone. Some clothes you kept in the drawers, gone. Everything was gone. He then saw the box you left on his bed. He lifts the top only to discover everything he’d ever given you. A ring with a wolf on it that you only took off when you washed the dishes, took a shower, or was asleep. His sweaters and shirts he’d leave behind if he slept over. Hair ties you both shared; you guys had to color coordinate occasionally, he had red and you had purple.
On the floor, he noticed a bag of his shoes and clothes that he doubt he could fit any more. He looked at the stuff you returned and just stood there with his eyes closed and let the tears he had been holding in go. He hated everything that he was and everything that had happened. He hated Sam and his gag rule. He hated how because of this, his father died; he never blamed Leah, he blamed his genes. But most of all, he hated how he lost the love of his life, the woman he always saw himself with, who he wanted to marry, to grow old with. He hated how he lost Y/n. He was afraid to look; if she wasn’t his imprint, it would kill him. So, Seth just watched her from afar. He still looked after her when she didn’t notice. But he couldn’t risk it, even when his gut and friends told him to.
He felt two sets of arms wrap around him. Leah and Sue held onto him as he cried all of what he had been holding in. Memories of them since they were kids, those little moments of the almost that they had with one another. The time in 8th grade where he was ready to tell her that he loved her but chickened out when Kyle Graden asked her to the Spring dance.
“She’s gone.” Had been his final words before he broke down and let the pain ooze from him.
December of 2022—Y/n Wedding
“You’re going Seth, and that’s final,” Sue told her youngest cub as he begrudgingly got ready to go to the one celebration he wishes he could run away from. Y/n wedding. When they got the invitation, Seth pulled a Jacob and hightailed out of La Push. It had taken a month or so for him to get back, and when he did, he wasn’t him. He knew he had no right to stop it, he knew he had no say in anything. But it killed him finally having this day to come. A day he knew would come eventually. Her wedding day.
“Come on man. We know it hurts, but you guys haven’t seen each other in, what, 10 years. She’s probably changed! You may realize that she was just a crush and nothing more.” Paul says, attempting to be helpful. Seth cracks a noticeably fake smile and just gets up to go to the ceremony that is being held at the nearby chapel.
Once there, they guys situate in the back and carry on a conversation while Seth looks around the place. He laughed to himself, if he remembered correctly, which he did, he knew this wasn’t Y/n idea of a wedding. It was Christmas themed, with sparkles and fake snow everywhere. You hated the idea of holiday-themed anything (especially Christmas). The overrated holiday, along with Valentine’s Day, bothered you. So seeing this Winter Wonder Land shit, made him realize, this wasn’t you. At all.
“Yeah, Y/n/n did not plan this wedding,” Leah said next to Seth. Only validating what was Seth’s inner monologue. You then herd the music start and the bridesmaid and groomsman walk next to one another towards the front of the church. The groom waiting up there for Y/n; Seth loathed him. A hand was placed on his shoulder by Sam, who made him realize that this isn’t the time nor place. Seth continues to watch the scenery as the flower girls throwing sparkles and peddles on the ground. Leah gagging at the girly-like shit they both knew you hated. Then, the music tempo changed, and the pastor motioned us to rise.
Y/n walked next to her dad down the aisle and from what Seth could see, you were a sight to stare at. Pictures were being taken and smiles were being drawn your way as you continue to the piece of shit you were to marry.
“Yeah, she really had no control. She always hated cake topper dresses.” Everyone nodded at that. You may not have known or met pack, but from what they could tell from the memories Seth and Leah had and when they watched you from afar, they knew you hated the bullshit of the wedding you were having.
The wedding continued, vowels where said, and a kiss was shared. But that’s not what broke Seth, no, out of everything, it's not what killed him. When you turned after being pronounced as Mrs. Forayed, somehow, by the universe screaming, Seth was hit with the realization of his mistake. Air left his body as he fell dead weight to the seat beneath him. The second your eyes locked, everything slowed down, time stopped, even your heart skipped a beat. There was no one in that room except you two and the shadow of regret clouding over him and the love breaking through your heart for the boy you love.
“Seth…Are you-” Jacob said.
“It was her…” Everyone looked at one another, then at you. Your eyes didn’t leave that spot and you felt something stir within you. The arm wrapped around your waist pulled you back to reality as you faked a smile at your husband. Feeling bad that it is not him you want but knowing that you can’t turn back.
Seth left in a hurry, leaving everyone without a second thought. While in the car on her way to the reception, a howl in the distance could be heard.
If only he looked at her once, it would have been them at the altar.

Before He Was JJ - Rudy Pankow Imagine (Part 4)
Hey guys! Here is part 4! Let me know if you want a part five of like a honeymoon or children!! I’m kinda crying at how this turned out...
_________________________________________
As the days turned into weeks, my excitement grew and grew. Everyday felt like a new milestone and I was glad to have my best friends next to me while I did it. Over the past few months I had become really close with Maddie and Madelyn. I had asked both of them to be bridesmaids in my wedding, along with a few other close friends. Rudy and I had planned six people each to stand with us. He had his brothers and the boys. I had asked the two girls, a couple friends from high school, and my cousin who was like a sister to me.
Rudy and I had already made so many decisions crucial to our wedding, but today I would make the biggest one. I brought my friends and mom to the shop with me and was in instant awe at all white. Everything was shiny and new. I ran my fingers across the rack of fabric. My heart was full. I felt overwhelmed by emotion and Maddie came up and hugged me. I watched as a worker came up and asked for me. She asked what kind of wedding dress I was looking for. I thought for a second. I thought about what kind of dress Rudy would want to see me in. I thought about what I imagined myself wearing when I met him at the end of the aisle. I told her I would know when I saw it.
With that, everyone went off in different directions. Everyone grabbed a dress that they thought would look nice on me. They varied in color and style, but none of them felt right. None of them were the dress I wanted Rudy to see me in. I was beginning to feel helpless. I heard my mom say that there were plenty of dress shops all over the area, but that didn’t make me feel better. I went to take the last dress off and as soon as I was in the dressing room, I broke down in tears. Rudes was doing everything in his power to make sure our wedding was perfect and I wouldn’t settle for anything less than that on my dress. The woman helping me, rubbed my back and told me that she had one more dress she wanted me to try on.
I waited for a couple of minutes and she told me to close my eyes. The fabric was light against my skin. I could feel thin straps on my shoulder. It wasn’t tight at all around me. She told me to open my eyes and tears soaked my cheeks immediately. This was it. This was the dress. It was long with a tight bodus, yet it flowed freely from the waist down. It was lace with little flowers. It was perfect. I couldn’t look at myself without crying. This was the dress I wanted Rudy to see me in, but I needed my friends to as well.
They were told to close their eyes as I walked out. I stood in front of them and told them they could open them. The moment my mom saw me, she cried. She told me that I looked beautiful, that I looked like a bride. I turned my attention to Rudy’s mom. She stared at me and smiled. Tears were pooling in her eyes as well. She told me that this was the dress and that was all the reassurance I needed. Both my moms approved.
I didn’t try the dress on again until the morning of the wedding. I had hidden it carefully in my closet and waited. Now, as I stood in it again, it felt like the first time. I told myself I couldn’t cry or I would ruin my makeup. I held my breath and everything was so real. I was so nervous the entire morning that I couldn’t tell you what happened. I couldn’t remember getting ready or pacing at the venue. I couldn’t remember my friends trying to assure me nothing could go wrong. None of that would be as memorable as the walk down the aisle anyways.
I held my dad’s arm so tightly that he was concerned. When the music started and the party began to walk down, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Then it was my turn. For the first time, I would take Kevin Doyle’s advice. I would watch the groom as I walked down the aisle. When he saw me, he had to look away. There were instant tears as he turned back to me. The smile on his face said it all. The ocean breeze pushed my hair around and blew the bottom of my dress as I walked. I felt tears forming in my eyes as I got to the end and my dad kissed my cheek.  He shook Rudy’s hand and told him to take care of me. I stood in front of him and he whispered to me that he was lucky.
“God, you're so beautiful,” he said, wiping his eyes. Him saying that was enough to break the dam and release my own tears. He wiped them gently and we stared at each other. I listened to the officiant go on with the ceremony until it was time for vows. He stared at me and pulled some index cards out of his jacket. He was shaking as he read what he had written.
“I always knew you were going to be the most important person in my life,” he started, sniffling in between words. “But I didn’t know that I loved you until I had to be away from you for months. Ever since we were kids, I knew we would spend the rest of our lives together fulfilling whatever role we needed. As kids we were classmates, playmates, best friends. As teens we were shoulders to cry on, protectors, confidents. Now, we’re even more. We’re soulmates. I’m ready to start a new chapter, with a new title that sums up everything I’ve ever been to you. From today on, I vow to continue being everything you need for the rest of your life as your husband.”
I was sobbing. I was sobbing so hard that I needed a moment before I started my own vows.
“I-I knew I was in love with you from age five. You were this bright eyed kid who hit me in the head with a soccer ball. I was so mad… But then you helped me up and checked my vitals. What kind of 5 year old does that?” I laughed and wiped my tears. “You always cared for me, no matter what. As we grew older, I knew I wanted to protect you and care for you too. I wanted to protect you from everything because you have always been the most important person in my life. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life making sure that you’re happy.”
The rest of the ceremony was perfect. It went off without a hitch. We slipped the rings onto each other's ring fingers and we both said I do. Rudes didn’t even wait for the officiant to finish the sentence when he pulled me into a kiss. I could hear our friends and family cheering, but it almost sounded like I was under water. They sounded like they were a million miles away. At this moment, the only thing that mattered was my husband in front of me and his lips on mine.

About Last Night
Pairing: Adam Driver x Reader
Word Count: 1,602
Warnings: Swearing, Drinking
Requested: Yes🥰
“We need to talk about what happened last night.”
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Wake Up!”
Jessica banged on your bedroom door, rudely waking you up.
“I’m up, I’m up!” Your voice laced with annoyance.
You and Jessica had been friends for the past two years. She was a great friend, but she always had this habit of making the worst decisions, that would leave you to become the problem solver in the friendship.
Groaning, you were not a morning person. Looking over at your alarm clock it read 7:00am. Thankfully you had the next few days off. Just like clock work, you could hear two voices arguing over the Vampire Diaries. Staring at the ceiling, you were wondering why you had given your two best friends keys to your apartment, since they were constantly over every day. They were over so much, a majority of their belongings, were at your apartment, rather than theirs.
“Dude! There is absolutely Elena should’ve ended up with Stefan!” Jessica huffed out in annoyance.
“Dude!” Adam’s tone mocking Jessica’s, “Why should she end up with Damon! Stefan is better for her.”
The day had only just begun, and you were already getting a head ache. Pinching the bridge of your nose, sighing in frustration before you interjected, “Guys! Can we not do this today? The last time you two argued about the Vampire Diaries, neither of you spoke to each other for three weeks!”
Both of their heads snapping towards you.
“It wasn’t my fault!” they both replied in unison.
“I don’t care whose fault it is, I’m ending it.” You replied sassily, making your way over to the coffee pot, before Jessica said, “Someone’s crabby this morning.”
“Gee. I wonder why that is. One of my best friends banged on my door to wake up rather than waking me up like a civil human being, while the other,” you turned to glare at Adam, before continuing, “decided to strike up the age old Vampire Diaries argument.”
“You’re not wrong.” “Yeah, sorry.” They both apologized at the same time.
“Now, please tell me why, both of you are here on my weekend off.”
“That’s why were here, to pppaaarrrttyyyyyyy!” Jessica said in her best Kristen Wiig voice.
“You’ve seen Bridesmaids way too much.”
“It’s a life style. Don’t judge.”
Putting your hands up in surrender, she busted with laughter.
“Alright, peace out Bitches.”
Both you and Adam looked at each other in confusion.
“Some of us,” she started, as she made her way to collect her purse, “have to work on Fridays. Y/N, I’ll see you tonight for Girls Night. Bye, Adam.” With that Jessica, left your apartment.
“So....” you say awkwardly, rocking back and forth on your feet.
“So...” Adam said awkwardly.
Realizing you were still in your pajamas you said, “I’m gonna go, get dressed. It’s your pick today.”
“YES!” Adam maneuvered his way to the couch and made himself confortable.
Chuckling you left the kitchen. Adam was your best friend, but you also had feelings for him. He was practically your dream guy but made into reality.
Adam was an excellent actor. He was the most humble Hollywood actor you’ve ever met regardless, of him being the only actor you’ve ever met and became friends with. His successes made you over the moon. Jessica was always trying to tell you that Adam shared your feelings, but you always rejected her opinion the subject. She was your best friend and she didn’t want you to get hurt.
While you were changing, you suddenly thought of how weird Adam was being lately. Normally, he had coffee every day in a to go cup from the small mom and pop coffee shop that was down the street. The last few weeks, he’s been having coffee at your apartment or not at all.
Shoving the thought from your mind, you made your way to sit on the couch next to Adam.
“Hey.” He said a smile.
“Hey, yourself.” You replied softly.
Adam decided on Bobs Burgers, knowing that it was a favorite of yours. It didn’t take long, before you noticed his actions. He had begun leaning towards, which caused him to fulling lean on you, with his shoulder touching yours. Not wanting him to move, you didn’t say anything while smiling to yourself.
About two hours later, and a plethora of different positions on the couch, you finally settled with bunch your legs up leaning against Adams thigh. His right arm, was lazily draping over your legs. Neither of you said anything in fear of the other moving.
You weren’t sure when, but hours later you and Adam had cuddled up on the couch. He was laying behind you fast asleep, spooning you from behind with his face nuzzling your ear. Your heads resting on your extended arms, opening your eyes you saw your fingers intertwined with each other.
Suddenly, Jessica bursted through the door startling you. Adam, was still sound asleep.
“Y/N!” She whisper yelled, “he does like you!”
“Jessica!” You hissed in annoyance, “now is not the time!”
Eventually, Adam woke up and decided he should leave. Jessica kept pestering you, about how he didn’t want to leave.
After you both got ready for your ‘Girls Night’, Jessica was overwhelmed with excitement. She had been trying to get you to go out with her for week. Apparently, there was a new up and coming bar she wanted you to try out.
It was well into the night, and you were beyond Tipsy. Suddenly, Adam showed up at the bar.
“Adam!” You squealed over the music, leaping at him. Thankfully he caught you, causing you to wrap your legs around his waist.
He was chuckling that you were drunk and beyond thrilled to see him, “Nice to see you too, Y/N.”
“Let’s get you home, yeah?”
“What about Jessica?”
“I’ll have the bartender make sure she gets a cab.”
“Okay.” You replied placing a kiss on his cheek before he put you down.
Adam was able to get you up the stairs, with minimal stumbling on your part. He considered this to be a small victory.
Leading you to your bedroom, he asked, “Do you think you can change by yourself?”
“Yeah, I’m an adult!”
Laughing at your humor even though you were drunk, he left the room so you could change. After a few minutes went by, he knocked on the door before entering. You were already, crawling into bed.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Uh,” he started awkwardly, “that’s my shirt.”
“Oh,” you left out softly looking down at it, “Sorry, I, Uh, could take it off if you wa-“
Before you knew it, he had your head in his hands, moving you to look up at him, while you were still on your knees. He rested his forehead against yours, your breaths mixing with one another. Your hands traveling up to grip his wrists desperate for his touch. Ever so slowly, he inched his face closer to yours, lips barely touching yours. They felt like velvet, with warmth radiating off of them. Kissing him, felt like everything you’ve ever imagined.
Pulling away from the soft kiss, you moved so you were under the blankets, pulling Adam with you.
“I’ve waited so long for his,” he said while cupping your cheek in his hand, “I thought you didn’t want me.” He finally said while, placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
“I’ve only wanted you Adam,” you murmured softly, “it’s always been you. I’m hopelessly in love with you.”
“I’m in love with you too, Y/N. You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to hear you say that.”
Adam began kissing you again, it wasn’t until his tongue was exploring your mouth that he tasted the alcohol, remembering that he had picked you up from the bar only hours ago.
Pulling back slightly from the kiss, earning a whine from you, he began, “If you remember this tomorrow, and that’s a big if, we can talk about this..” sadness was evident in his voice.
The next morning, you woke up to a cold bed. Moving your arm next to you, to search for Adam, you were met with nothing but an empty space.
Groaning, you sat up in bed and looked over to the previously occupied spot. It was barely warm, which meant he hadn’t been up much longer before you. Suddenly, the smell of coffee brewing filled the air. You moved the blankets, to retreat from bed.
Adam was sitting on the couch in the living room, watching a nature documentary before you entered.
“Hey, you’re aw-mph”
You cut him off placing your lips over his, knowing he had widened eyes, you placed yourself in his lap wrapping and arm around his shoulder, while your other hand was tangeling itself into his long dark hair. Biting his bottom lip, he moaned at the sudden sensation, bringing his hands to grip your hips, pulling you closer to him. Opening his mouth, he allowed your tongue to search his mouth. Your senses were overtaken by his sent, with each inhale you could smell his soap, his shampoo, his shaving cream. It was the most delicious smell. His tongue, was gentle yet demanding. The longer we kissed, the more the world fell away, leaving just the two of us entangled in each other.
Pulling the appendage from his throat, you both were out of breath.
“We need to talk about last night,” you panted out.
“Yes,” he planted in agreement, “We do.. Would you like to go on a date sometime?”
“I’m not busy tonight,” you replied
“Great. It’s a date.”
“It’s a date.”

A June Love Story (Pt 2)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Epilogue
June. Three years ago.
Harry: The outdoor garden is alight with laughter and happy greetings as everyone comes together for Jack and Jess’s baby shower. I try to find a familiar face as I walk through the gates, but I only recognise Jack’s family. My eyes continue scanning anyway, barely admitting to myself I was looking for one face in particular.
A small gasp from beside me lets me know my girlfriend had returned with our name tags. Leave it to Jack to have nametags at a baby shower to help everyone mingle. “This is lovely isn’t it?”
I look down at Alyssa, my girlfriend of seven months-the longest I’d kept a girlfriend in a while. Jack’s Jess actually made the introduction, she was her maid of honour at their wedding. And as cliche as it was, the maid of honour did indeed end the night in the best man’s bed.
Alyssa scrunchles her nose and loops her arm through mine, “let’s go find the parents-to-be!”
“Yeah okay,” I laugh. Alyssa was always a bubbly personality, never a mean word out of her. It was refreshing but the complete opposite of how I could get. I always had to watch what I said, she was too soft for harsh words.
“I heard there’s a secret baby wager going around,” Alyssa tells me as we make our way to the deck. “Don’t tell Jess though, I’m pretty sure it was Jack who started it.”
“Oh it was definitely Jack who started it,” I chuckle. “You can get him to bet on anything.”
“So?” Alyssa peers at me. “What did you wager?”
“Why did you think I wagered?” I laugh but Alyssa only raises her eyebrow; I give in. “A boy.”
Alyssa rolls her eyes but we stop the conversation as Jess nears, “There you are!” She hugs the both of us and the girls begin gushing over how big her bump had gotten. As much as I would love to have kids of my own someday, it wasn’t today. I zone out and look around the small garden, I almost don’t catch her.
Y/N, in the flesh. The last time I saw her was Jack’s wedding, she’d been a little cold. I didn’t blame her. After she broke down in front of me at her housewarming, I guessed she was embarassed again. But she stayed away the whole weekend, avoiding me until I cornered her on the dance floor on wedding day.
She’d confessed, she was avoiding me. And she also admitted she was confused anytime she saw me, it complicated her feelings, her relationship with Nate which she was sorting out. She didn’t want to put more strain on it. I told her to break up with him. She got upset and said I would never understand, things were complicated. She left. I decided Y/N was never going to leave Nate, I was putting my love life on hold for her but “we” were never going to happen. So I went to bed with the maid of honour.
When I realised a few weeks ago I was seeing her again, I couldn’t stop thinking about her again: all my old feelings resurfaced. And here I was trying to find her face in the crowd even though I was here with Alyssa. But there was a draw to Y/N I couldn’t deny. It was unhealthy.
She’s talking to Jack, I realise. And her hair was short. Really short. And dyed. She has on a white tee tucked into loose green trousers. There was no Nate in sight. I had to talk to her before he showed up and ruined things as he did.
“Look at Harry eyeing Jack,” Jess’ voice snaps me out of it. I didn’t realise how hard I was staring. “You can be excused from this boring conversation Harry! Go talk to him!”
Alyssa giggles and pecks my cheek before leaving with Jess. I push aside the guilt of what I was really looking at, I do what they say. My heart pounds the closer I get to her.
“The godfather to my unborn child,” Jack spots me first and rushes me. I grapple with his body and hug him.
“I will ruin your child if you make me the godfather,” I swear. “I don’t know the first thing about kids. I’m not worthy.”
“Nah I’ve seen you with your wittle fans,” Jack mocks and looks over at Y/N to include her. “He’s this big softie inside.”
“Y/N,” I acknowledge her, anticipating a cold nod. But surprisingly, her face breaks into a genuine smile and it takes my bloody breath away.
“Harry,” she moves to give me a hug. She’s warm from the sun and smells like lavender. I could stay there longer but we break apart.
“Look at the two of you,” Jack comments as we break. “No fighting, no rudeness. Almost like we’re all adults.”
“I can speak for myself, but I don’t know if we can call Harry that quite yet,” Y/N teases.
“There it is, I should’ve known it was coming.” Jack swings his arm and we all laugh.
“What’s so funny?” Alyssa comes up from behind and she joins the group. With the way Y/N watches her arm wrap around my waist, I realise she didn’t know. She didn’t know. And her face falls now that she does.
“These two finally getting along,” Jack says when nobody talks.
“I don’t think we’ve formally met,” Y/N sticks out her hand. “You’re Jess’ bridesmaid right?”
“Maid of honour,” Alyssa corrects and I watch my worlds collide as they shake hands. “But most people call me Alyssa.”
That earns a laugh but as the group eases into small talk, I avoid looking at Y/N. I didn’t know what I expected today, but the reality of it makes me realise I was in some deep shite.
Y/N: The one time I’m finally single, Harry’s not. It’s my bloody luck! I’m single after years and the one guy I thought I might reconnect with, is taken. The worst part, by a kind and gorgeous woman.
The last time I saw Harry was at Jack’s wedding. I was still with Nate then, we were on the cusp of another breakup. But it felt different that time. Seeing Jack marry the woman he was so clearly in love with, the same woman who’d broken his heart after their split...it made me realise things. Nate and I broke up again and again and every time we got back together, we were just more broken than before. We were papier maché of broken bits acting like a perfect whole-Jack and Jess broke up once, and soon as they got back together, Jack had proposed and she’d said yes. And I was still in the same shitty relationship from my early twenties. I couldn’t even imagine Nate proposing. It was pathetic how I fooled myself into thinking we were worth something together.
What was more pathetic was it took another month to officially break up with Nate. Convince him it was for good, forever. It took a week for him to move on to a girl he met at a club. And another four months of living in the empty house he’d moved out of because it was my name on the lease. As soon as the year was over, I’d found the first decent flat and that marked the end of a shitty almost decade of my life.
And today, it seemed my shitty decade persisted. It was clear I was fated to be alone and miserable.
“So where’s Nate?” Harry asks me and that gets a string of swear words out of Jack. Alyssa looks on confused.
“We broke up,” I say simply, carefully watching Harry’s barelt hide the shock and something that almost looks like regret. I wondered what was going on in his head, and immediately feel like a bad person. He was in a happy relationship, I shouldn’t interfere.
“Thank fuck,” Jack says just as Jess walks up. He winces and covers her stomach.
“You know you’re not covering the baby’s ears, right?” Jess says to Jack.
“I am-I’m a doctor honey, I would know.” Jack says and kisses Jess. My heart twinges, I can’t help it. I missed the feeling of being so in love.
“So as a doctor can you figure out why Alyssa is so afraid of children,” Harry asks, the conversation fast moving away from my breakup thankfully. But moving towards Alyssa and Harry having a baby and the thought makes my stomach drop.
“I just don’t want to bring another human into this world!” Alyssa defends herself, it sounded like it was an argument they’d had before. “I’ll gladly be the godmother though. I just don’t want any of my own.”
“Isn’t it nice the godmother and father of our children made it easy for us, they’re already a couple.” Jack comments.
“Thanks to my matchmaking skills,” Jess says. So that’s how it happened, I think.
***
My cramps kick in later in the day and I scramble to find a painkiller. The intensity makes me sit out of the games, so I settle down on a picnic blanket near a garden patch, happily watching the competition between Jack and Jess’ friends. Three girls and guys stand as their groups try to make diapers out of TP before they tag the next person to change a doll’s diaper. A baby-themed obstacle course, which was probably Jess-inspired. I smile at the thought.
Lost in thought, I pick up a few of the fallen flowers just as a pair of sneakers come into view and breaks me away from my thoughts.
“Can I join you?” Harry’s low voice asks.
“Sure,” I brush aside my mixed feelings and shift to make room. He sits down, leaning back to watch the games. One of the girls being dressed was Alyssa. Her back is mostly to us but he watches her fondly.
“It’s been a while,” Harry finally says, looking over at me.
“Yeah,” I twirl a flower in my fingers, a couple petals fall off. “Feels like a lifetime ago though since we last saw each other. Congrats, by the way, on your awards.”
I’d watched every second of that awards show, attentive to every moment Harry was on screen. I’d gone to text him later that night and realise I never even had his number.
“Thanks,” Harry skims past the accolades humbly. “Seems like a lot has changed between now and then.”
“I know,” I try not to sound bitter. “I finally broke up with Nate, you got together with Alyssa-who is lovely by the way. Let’s see...you won an amazing award-your career’s really taking off, I moved into a flat in central and got a promotion and...am I missing anything else?”
“You changed your hair,” Harry says like duh.
I laugh and point to his buzzcut, “Yeah. I did, so did you.”
It was a rash decision on my part. When I moved into the new flat, I wanted to be done with every part of my old life. So I’d done something drastic. Remembering it dredges up unwanted feelings: loneliness, anger, insecurities, and unhappiness. I go quiet as Harry laughs at something that happens with the obstacle course. It takes me back to when we first met, how I wanted to hear that laugh for the rest of my life. And that wasn’t something I could have anymore.
“Earth to Y/N,” Harry says gently. I’m too lost in thought to look up but he calls my name again, his fingers lifting my chin up so I’m looking at him. He’d shifted closer to call my name, leaning on his hand that’s splayed right beside me, the tips of his fingers a breath away from my thighs. The pain of being so close to him yet not being with him is palpable.
With his fingers still on my chin, my eyes meet his and I realise I’d never seen them this close up with the sunlight leaving no shadows in sight. They ask me a question I don’t know how to answer, they ask if I was okay. But I really didn’t know anymore.
I put on a smile for his sake, so he wouldn’t ask out loud, and push the flower I was playing with behind his ear. He looks cute, and my smile widens as I drop my hand down to lay beside his. His smile stays in place, his pinky reaching out to touch me while his eyes still watch me, asking the same question. My smile drops away and I look down again to our hands so close together. I couldn’t let him see me cry like he did once. I was stronger than I was then-I couldn’t cry.
“Harry there you are! Do you like it?” We both look up as Alyssa comes running up to show off her TP diaper and sash. Harry leans away and I immediately miss the feeling of him being so close. God, what was wrong with me.
“Wow what a look,” Harry stands up and walks towards her. She grins, so clearly in love with him. Like his eyes were only for her-and they probably were. I think I pushed Harry away one time too many. Our chance was gone. Yet to think all he had to say was “yes” four years ago, we could have had our chance all this time.
June. Two Years Ago.
The crowd was huge and I grab Jack’s arm to avoid getting lost. The sun was relentless, shining down her rays until I was sticky and sunburnt.
“Can you believe this?” Jack shouts to me. I mouth an I know as we grin at each other. It was the first festival we’d been to in years, the feeling of hot bodies packed together in the sun was not as fun in your late twenties than your early twenties. The only reason we were here was because Harry was playing and we were stoked, ready to scream with the crowd as he performed. I told him I would wear the neon cowboy hat so he could find us in the crowd.
“Our boy’s a bloody rockstar!” A giddy laugh bubbles up as we make our way into the crowd to find Jess and Alyssa.
It had been a year since I found out about Alyssa and Harry, I was crushed about it. But Harry really was incredibly happy with her, and the more time I spent with her the more I liked her and got over my petty feelings. Jack usually invited me to be their fifth wheel on double-dates or would set me up with a friend of his and Jess’. None of the setups were as good as Harry but a couple did last a few months. I was feeling better than I had in a long time though, and finding my freedom in being single. And Harry and I were actually friends, often texting each other stupid memes and videos.
“There they are!” Jack points to two girls. I slow down as Jack rushes to surprise Jess from behind. I slowly approach and Jess pulls me into her famous hugs.
“It’s so he can spot us,” I say when Jess asks about my choice of hat. “Speaking of the devil...” I look to the front just as Harry walks onstage and the crowd around us becomes one large megaphone.
And the experience is pure magic. Harry becomes otherwordly on stage as he performs the songs I knew every word to and we all shout the lyrics back to him. During his slower songs, the crowd quiets down and my heart bursts realising just how much I loved the man onstage. How loved he was by the enormous crowd.
“I’m so telling Harry he made you cry,” Jack says in my ear and I startle; I didn’t realise I was crying.
“I’ll kill you-“ I say as Jack already snaps a picture. I stick up my finger for the second and he takes a selfie with me for the third. I roll my eyes as Harry introduces his last song.
“It’s not on my album, or any platforms. I think it’s my first time performing it...”
I assume it was a song about Alyssa, he’d already sang two about her. I glance at her to see her reaction but her head is bent over a phone. Curiosity gets the better of me-who would she be texting while Harry was performing?
I could barely make out the name but it’s definitely not Harry’s; I can only see hearts. The texts themselves...I quickly bounce back on my heels and look away just as Alyssa looks back at me. I pretend to be interested in Harry, only glancing at her because she was looking at me. She smiles but she looks guilty and my heart thuds, louder than the crowd, ready to fall out of my chest as I fall back into his fans. I try to push away the ugly truth of it.
“So the working title is Speechless, but don’t hold me to it.” Harry says and I swear he’s looking right at me. My heart takes another beating as the name clicks, I didn’t know how much more my heart could take as it flutters along with the opening notes and into the chorus
Mouth open, shut, she’s speechless. Heart open, shut, I’m speechless.
I listen to his lyrics. They’re about me. About a strong woman who he left speechless, that being the only power he had over her. Because I might love her but she didn’t love me, she gave herself to another and left me lonely.
Harry was with Alyssa, I remind myself. Alyssa might be...cheating on Harry? But they were still together. Harry and Alyssa. Together.
So why was he performing this, in front of me?
***
“You sure you don’t want anything?” Jess asks me, as they order food from a stand. I couldn’t think about eating, I make an excuse that I was staying hydrated. Harry told us about a private area we could meet him, he’d told security we were coming so we were just getting a bite to take to him. I wasn’t sure what I would do when we got to him.
He’s a sweaty happy mess when we do, listening to everyone’s praises with a big grin, laughing and acting shy as we all hug him. This was his first festival!
“How did you like the new song?” Harry asks, his eyes lingering on mine.
“I was speechless,” Jack jokes.
“I’m curious who the inspiration was,” Alyssa teases Harry, I try not to act as flustered.
“Someone long ago,” Harry winks and they pretend to be scandalized.
“I’m starving,” Jess lifts her container. “I’m finding a place to sit.”
Alyssa and her head to an empty spot while the three of us head to the water station first.
“So when are you going to do it?” I hear Jack asking Harry as I fill my bottle.
“Do what?” I ask, looking from Jack to Harry.
“Uhm, I was going to-I was thinking today was a good time to finally-“
“He’s bloody proprosing to Alyssa!” Jack whispers to me. If I thought the song or Alyssa’s texts were going to end me, I was wrong. This was worse. It felt like a trainwreck I could only watch, and not stop. This was going to end horribly, and Harry. Harry...I didn’t want him to end up in a relationship like mine. I had to stop it somehow.
“Y/N?” Jack waves his hand in front of my face.
“Woah!” I try to cover up. “I was waiting for the punchline! Harry, really? You’re ready to-to commit?”
“Yeah,” Harry shrugs. “I think it’s time.”
“Have you guys talked about it?” I ask curiously.
“A couple times. But I know it’s the right time.”
“I asked Jess to marry me before we talked about it,” Jack says, and I know he’s eyeing me suspiciously. He knew me too well. “And look at us now.”
“You and Jess are a golden exception Jack,” I roll my eyes. “I just want to make sure Harry isn’t springing it unexpected.”
Jack’s phone rings-Jess wondering what was taking us so long and asking if he could get her another drink. That leaves Harry and me walking back together alone and the guilt of knowing his girlfriend may be cheating on him eats me up so I burst after we walk in silence.
“Harry, I don’t think you should do it.”
“What?” Harry heard me but he looks confused. “Why would you say that?”
“I just...I can’t...I can’t say. Just trust me.” I didn’t want to be the one to break it to him. But I didn’t want him to fuck his life up either.
“Trust you? Give me something to trust Y/N! Why wouldn’t I propose to the woman I love?”
Ouch. “Just trust me Harry please,” I stop and grab his arm. “I never interfere with your love life unlike you do with mine, but I just think you should wait. Talk to her about it first. I don’t want you to make a mistake.”
Harry scoffs, shaking his head in disbelief. “Why don’t you tell me what this is really about Y/N.”
“What?” Now it was my turn to be confused.
“I know we’ve had a history, and you’ve been out of a relationship for a while. But that song was one I wrote years ago, when you were still with Nate. I was in love with you then-not-not now. I love Alyssa, not you.”
My jaw drops, that was not what I meant but Harry’s bluntness is misdirected, his old mean streak coming out. I wanted to tell him what I saw on her phone even more than before, how did he think I was that...jealous that I would stop him because I wanted him?
“What the fuck!” I finally sputter out after Harry turns to continue walking. “D-do you really-who do you think you are? Who do you think I am? You really think I’m petty enough to try to stop you because I think we belong together or some-you’re a self-centered dick, Harry! I’m just looking out for you!”
“I don’t want you to! I never asked you to!” Harry shouts back. “I don’t need you in my life Y/N! I don’t need your judgements or your advice. I want nothing from you. Unlike you, I have a healthy relationship with an amazing woman and I plan on bloody marrying her whether you want me to or not!”
“I-“ his words sting the back of my eyes and the lump in my throat feels like a tennis ball lodged too tight. I don’t need you in my life. He was right, we weren’t as close ever since he got together with Alyssa...we only ever hung out because of Jack. Harry moved on from me. “You know what, whatever. I cared about you as a friend Harry, that’s why I look out for you. Maybe you should ask yourself why your performed that song in the first place if you love Alyssa so much. But whatever. If I’m nothing to you, do whatever-just do whatever you want. I’m going to find Jack.”
I force my wobbling legs to turn around and go in the direction that Jack left. I find him just as he pays for his drinks and when he sees me he knows something’s wrong but I deny it until he gives up. I claim I felt sick, to let the group know. I let myself cry when I reach my car, not knowing Harry was proposing at the exact same moment.
June 21, One Year Ago
Harry: “Have you spoken to Y/N recently?” Jack asks me over the phone. I could hear Jack’s kid crying in the background, his daughter born in April-who they also named April.
“Not since your baby shower,” I reply. “You know we don’t talk anymore. After I fucked it all up.”
“I thought you patched things up at the baby shower?” Jack asks.
“I tried but Alyssa was there and I was distracted. She was just polite. I think I ruined anything between us for good.” And I felt like an idiot. After the whole disaster between Y/N and I at the festival, what was supposed to be the happiest day turned into the worst when I got back home.
Alyssa confessed to me that night she’d said yes because we were in front of all our friends but she couldn’t marry me. She’d met someone else, nothing actually happened between them but she couldn’t marry me. And it tore me apart. I finally understood why Y/N was trying to stop me, she must’ve known somehow.
And the more I thought about it, the more I realised how hard I was trying to force Alyssa to be my perfect girl. She wasn’t. I could never let go around her, always had to make sure I didn’t offend her. She never wanted kids, one day I did. I wasn’t enough for her, I forced her to be enough for me.
But at the time, I was heartbroken. I drank myself into blackouts and missed so many important meetings. I lost an album deal and set my bloody career back. I lost the only girl who maybe was enough for me, told her she was nothing to me. And I only apologised to her a few months ago. By then, it seemed like she moved on.
“Mate, what the hell are you doing feeling sorry for yourself and not trying harder for her? She doesn’t have a boyfriend, she’s still in love with you-“
“How do you know?” I demand. “She treated me like she was forced to talk to me. She’s over me. We were over before we had any chance!”
“Whenever I bring you up, she flinches Harry. She’s still hurt by what you said, that means she’s not over you. Just talk to her.”
“Is that Harry? Tell him I’ll put these babies down and kick his arse if he doesn’t go after Y/N! Did you see her last time she came over for dinner...” Jess in the background interrupts the conversation. Maybe the worst part of all this was I did give up on Y/N. I was embarassed that she knew about Alyssa and me before I did. And I’d said such stupid things to her. I didn’t think I was redeemable.
Y/N: I check my hair in the mirror one last time before I grab my purse. I was meeting Jack and Jess at a nearby restaurant for dinner, ever since they had their baby in April I had only seen them once. They’d secured a babysitter-Jack’s sister-and we were all planning on just catching up.
On the tube ride there, I can’t help but think about Harry. Usually dinners with J&J meant Harry was there too but ever since the festival, his proposal...the four of us hadn’t hung out. We talked for a bit at Jack’s baby shower, I had tried to act like I moved on and was doing really well. I don’t know if he bought it. Alyssa was there with her new boyfriend and she seemed happier than ever, I noticed how Harry kept looking at her. That had done it for me, he was still hung up over her. Even though Jack told me he was in a bad place after the breakup but better now, it was right before me. And I was done reading in between the lines with Harry.
I get to the restaurant just as Jack’s pulling out Jess’ chair. It was a fanicier restaurant, our table in the middle of the space. Jess springs back up to give me a tight squeeze and we settle in but I notice they glance at each other frequently.
“Is something the matter?” I ask after the fifth time.
“No? Why?” Jack looks at Jess again and I point it out.
“There! Why do you keep looking at each other?”
Jack and Jess’s gaze moves above my shoulders and I feel a presence behind me. I turn around and Harry stares back just as shocked.
“You guys bloody did not,” I stand up and face them. “Is this just an elaborate hoax to get me to talk to him?”
“I didn’t know anything about this,” Harry raises his hands in defence. But he still moves towards the empty seat. Like he was okay with this.
“We didn’t mean to parent trap you two but...” Jess looks to Jack.
“You have a lot to talk about. We hate having to see you guys separately, we miss the gang. Just have one dinner that’s all.”
I want to whip my glass across the wall, I was angrier than I should be. But it wasn’t like they didn’t mean well. So I drop into my seat like a child after a temper tauntrum and glare at Harry. I ignore him up until we order when Jack gets a “text” from his sister about an emergency and just like that, they rush off and leave Harry and I alone.
“We haven’t even ordered yet,” I say. “We could just call it a night ourselves.”
“J&J went through all this to get us to dinner, we could just...have dinner.” Harry looks at me from his menu. It’s like my life had come full circle, Jack setting me up to have dinner with Harry. Except this time, it’s Jack and his wife and I already know Harry would just be a waste of my time.
“You’d like that,” I mutter as I stare at the words without reading them.
“What?” Harry leans in. “Are you talking shite under your breath?”
My brows shoot up, taken aback by Harry’s abrasiveness. I hadn’t seen this side to Harry in a while. “What if I am?”
“I’d like to know what you’re saying,” Harry moves to the seat next to me. “Lay it on me.”
I stare at Harry’s strange behaviour, glance at his glass but it’s untouched.
“This dinner?” I stare him square in the eye.” “Really for your benefit. Jack probably pitied you and decided to try to rekindle the flame he lit in the first place, I don’t bloody care to be here. I’m fine if you’re not in my life.”
“Who said I want this?” Harry asks. “I’m fine if you’re not in my life.”
Even though I’d just said those words to him, when he says them back they sting a little. And it must’ve shown in my face because Harry backs down a little. He reaches for his glass and takes the first sip. The waiter takes our order and I’m left staring at Harry’s side profile as he burns a hole into his glass. I open my mouth to talk but he speaks first.
“I’m sorry for being so horrible to you. All these years, not just at the festival.” Harry finally makes eye contact and it’s my turn to look away. He waits for me to say something and when I don’t he speaks again. “You don’t have to forgive me, I understand if you don’t. But I did lie right now, I wouldn’t be fine if you weren’t in my life. I haven’t been fine. I don’t know what else to say except I’m sorry.”
Tears spring up and I hate them. But remembering Harry’s words from that day, how often I did recall them. And I think he’s done but he continues:
“I really thought I had it all figured out with Alyssa. When I think about it now I know we would never have lasted. I don’t know how you knew she...but she couldn’t...it just wasn’t meant to be. With her and me. And I wish I believed I wasn’t such a dick that day. I think I was just scared what losing her would mean. So I lost you instead.”
I would never admit it, but life was a little less dull without Harry. I missed when we hung out with J&J, the four of us had fun. But I didn’t want my life to be a pattern of crawling back to any man I had history with.
“Thank you for apologising,” I say formally, it was the only way I wouldn’t cry. “But I don’t think we can be friends again.” It’s too painful, too much had happened between us.
Harry doesn’t speak for a while, I thought he wasn’t going to until he does: “Okay, if that’s what you want.” I see him lean back in the chair from the corner of my eyes. He pinches his nose and sighs, “I’ll respect your...what you want.”
It’s awkwardly silent between us as we wait for dinner. Jack texts me just as it arrives and I check it discreetly.
I’m sorryyyy!! False alarm but we decided to take the babies home. Give him a chance Y/N, he’s always asking about you. Don’t shut him out!!!! Xxx
I want to facetime Jack just to flip him off but I turn my phone over and focus on swallowing my food without throwing up.
“So,” Harry starts. “Since we’re havig dinner we should talk.”
“What do you want to talk about?” I decided to stay polite.
Harry looks intensely at me, “What you’ve been up to? Unless you don’t want to get...personal.”
I shrug. “I haven’t had much of a life outside of work. But I booked a month off next month, I’m visiting some American friends.”
“Oh? Where are they located?”
“Some in New York City, LA, Seattle, and one in Chicago.”
“You’re going to visit all of them?” Harry sounds surprised.
“Yep,” the excitement for the trip flares up again and I can’t help but grin. “New York first, then make my way to Chicago and then Seattle. But the most exciting part is I’m going to drive down to LA after that-“
“Alone? That’s cool!” Harry joins in on my excitement.
“Right?! I just needed...” I sputter out as I remember it was Harry I was talking to. But then, I say screw it. “I just feel like the last few years with Nate and stuff, I needed an adventure. To just go out and explore.”
“I think that sounds perfect.” Harry smiles and he looks genuinely happy for me. The way he looks at me, I feel flushed as I concentrare on my food and throw the question back at him.
“Catching up on studio time,” he says. “I missed out on a lot after...Alyssa and I split. I’m going on tour in a month.”
“Local tour?” I ask.
“America, actually.” Harry says and I raise my eyebrow.
“Maybe we’ll bump into each other,” I say without thinking. We pause as we stare at each other. I break eye contact.
“It’s a big country,” Harry says. “But if we’re destined to meet...I’d like that.”
We talk some more, Harry telling me his plan for his new album and accepting my crticism. We decide to skip dessert, I claim I was getting tired but the night was just growing heavy. I missed Harry like you miss a childhood friend. It felt like we might have outgrown each other, I wanted things to go back to simpler times, but it was so easy to fall back into a familiar pattern when we were together. It was confusing and upsetting.
Instead of an Uber this time, Harry had driven himself and he offers to drop me off. He was passing me on his way home apparently.
The ride is silent, but not awkward. An unspoken agreement to just exist beside each other and not force a conversation. As we near my flat, his song comes on. He goes to change it but I swat his hand away and turn the volume up. I catch him glancing at me but I turn my head out my window and let Speechless wash over me. The only song anyone’s ever written for me.
Before I leave, I turn to him, the goodbye a painful one. “Goodnight Harry.”
“Goodnight,” he watches me with sorrow and it makes me pause as I hop out.
“I had a nice dinner even though we were parent trapped together.”
He laughs, relief coating his features. “Me too, it wasn’t as painful as you looked when you first spotted me. I thought you were going to run out of that place.”
“I was not,” I laugh. I decide to lean back in the car and peck his cheek goodbye. “I’m really proud of you Harry. You’re definitely going places.”
He smiles, but his eyes give away the truth behind what he was thinking. It was a thought I couldn’t entertain.
I wish him goodnight again and head to my doors, making sure I didn’t turn around. I wasn’t sure I would have the strength to walk away if I did.
I drop my keys by my door and head to my room, shedding the day as I step out of my oufit and into my sweatpants. My tickets to JFK in two and a half weeks greet me as I open my freezer for ice cream, I might have refused dessert tonight but my heart needed the sweet relief that I was going to be okay. In under three weeks I was going to be halfway across the world tasting freedom and a new adventure! I couldn’t wait. As I dream about what was waiting for me, I begin to think I really was going to be okay.

Happy (late late late) Birthday Part 2 @smmahamazing !
Part 1: The Proposal can be read here
Part 2: The Party: or A Series of Eye Opening Events
Words: 4468
Rated: T for Language
Kagome spent the first half of their flight into LAX filling Inuyasha in on what to expect at the party. She warned him about her crazy aunt who told too many personal stories, about her cousin who would speak Japanese in front of them assuming she wouldn't understand, and about her grandfather's various business connections who would be at the celebration and act like family even with no blood relation. Eventually, Inuyasha had had enough and interrupted her with a loud groan.
 "You're one of those people who are gonna fork over a car worth of cash and invite 300 people to your wedding aren't you?"
 "Our wedding," she corrected in a dry tone. "And there's nothing wrong with having lots of family around for a celebration like that. Plus some of Grandpa's business associates see me more often than family anyway between events and holiday parties, it would feel wrong not to invite them after all this time."
 He frowned, actively not listening anymore as she continued detailing the personality quirks of the entire western seaboard. He started to wonder what Kagome's dream wedding was - where she was going to house these throngs of people. His half of the aisle would look comically underfilled: his brother (maybe) with his wife and kid. Maybe a few guys from the team and from work? His only real friend friend besides Kagome was Sango and he was sure she would be standing up in a horrible green satin bridesmaid dress behind Kagome anyway.
Kagome continued outlining the people who were most likely to be at the party even though she knew Inuyasha had stopped listening. She was stalling, again. Originally she wasn’t going to mention that her ex probably would be at the party. But she'd gotten a text from her mother that morning saying yes, her previous paramour was going to be present. Inuyasha was really being a nice guy about all of this and he deserved a heads-up. She just really really really didn't want to start a fight with him over his famously protective, edging on dickish, behavior.
 "There's one more person I really should point out," she said while poking his shoulder to make sure he was listening.
 "More important than the finance guy from '83?"
 "That was a big year for grandpa! But...yes more important than Frank."
 She bit her lip, and pressed on in a mumble, "My ex from high school is going to be there. Well, kind of. We never really dated but he’s a guy I went on like four “first dates” with over the last decade."
 Well, that certainly had his attention.
 "Why would your grandfather invite your ex to his birthday party?" This was beyond ridiculous now. Who was next, the neighbors' dog groomer's cousin twice removed?
 "Well, he was a neighbor for years and grandfather still talks to the family. Grandfather's been trying to get us together since we were about 14 so his family is always invited to stuff. It would be rude to stop after ten years even though I'm off the market."
 Inuyasha’s brain struggled to understand. Ten years? An entire decade? What was so magical about this guy that her family would spend that much time trying to get them together if Kagome clearly wasn’t interested? If they already had someone lined up for her, how were they going to react to him upsetting all of their plans - even if it was all pretend?
 Finally, he had to ask. “You spent ten years not dating this guy? Can’t he take a hint? Or better yet, can’t you ever say no?”
 She frowned, her eyebrows drawing together in a crease. Inuyasha just didn’t understand. There were so many expectations set for her all the time. Unless she was actively dating someone else, she felt like she had to give Hojo a try: the steady well connected guy her family expected her to marry. Her grandfather wasn’t so old fashioned that he’d arrange the marriage for her, but he was traditional enough to make his preferences very clear. Hojo was a good provider, the fact he was more boring than watching paint dry was far from the point. Plus, how else was she supposed to get Inuyasha out of her head if she never tried finding someone else? Going to a bad movie was better than wallowing at home, right?
 "I don't like turning people down and hurting their feelings. So I go on one date and then call it done. Nobody ever died from one bad date."
 Inuyasha’s eye twitched as he dropped his face into his hands.
 "There is literally a whole genre of television show devoted to how wrong you are about that."
 They didn’t talk the remainder of the flight.
 -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
 Inuyasha immediately hated California. It was hot, it was loud, and it took forever to get to their hotel from the airport. To add insult to injury when they checked into their room there was another surprise waiting for them.
 There was only one bed. Because of fucking course there was, they were engaged and engaged people sleep together. He immediately reprimanded himself for his poor wording. Looking in the bedside drawer he half expected to find a pack of souvenir Mickey Mouse condoms with some tacky tagline. It would have to be horribly tacky wouldn’t it? Something like “Official Uniform of the Happiest Place on Earth”, or “For A Very Happily Ever After”, or maybe “Welcome to the Real Magic Kingdom”. He’d even be pleased with something entirely repurposed but on the nose like “To Infinity and Beyond”. There weren’t any, but he decided to table that idea for later, it might be a moneymaker.
 He moved over to the little not-a-closet and unpacked the one suit he owned, willing the creases to ease before the party tomorrow. He really should learn how to iron. And maybe own a more impressive set of dress clothes- should he have bought a silk tie? Knowing that almost everyone tomorrow would be working in or looking for a career in business he was suddenly convinced he would look like a silver haired deviant even in his black jacket and slacks. But he planned on a career in scrubs, was it really worth spending money he didn’t have for one night? Besides, Kagome kept telling him not to focus too much on the party, that it was one night then a week of actual vacation. It didn’t matter though. If he wasn’t sulking about being a giant walking disappointment, his mind would start to wander. Like now, he was considering if after Kagome’s family had him tar-and-feathered (because what else were they supposed to do when he foiled their decade long attempt to set her up with the perfect literal boy-next-door) if he’d rather go for classic and haunt New Orleans Square or try to shake things up and spook people in Star Wars Land as a dead jedi.
 He had just about convinced himself that Star Wars Land was the way to go when Kagome emerged from the bathroom already dressed for bed. He’s been friends with Kagome for years, seen her in her swimsuit, her jammies, her date night dresses. Yet when she walked out of the bathroom in only the world’s shortest black shorts and a clingy yellow tank top he felt his brain come to a complete halt. He looked away from her and back to the bed they would be sharing for a week. A week of laying next to miles and miles of exposed skin and soft, touchable hair. A week of morning wood and very nice dreams and knowing if she saw any of it she would probably purify him into the next life. He chose just the wrong moment to look up again, Kagome now bending at the waist to grab something from her suitcase on the floor.
 The ass of her shorts said SIT BOY.
 It was going to be the longest week of Inuyasha’s life.
 -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
 Inuyasha awoke the next morning with a weight on his chest. For the first time in a week it wasn’t a metaphorical weight, but the weight of Kagome’s left arm thrown across his body. He wasn’t sure when during the night she’d managed to migrate across the king sized bed and onto his person, but at this exact moment he really didn’t give a fuck. She was warm and snoring, which he was absolutely going to tease her about later, and for just a moment it didn’t feel like they were pretending. He took a slow, deep breath letting her natural scent seep its way into his brain. It didn’t take long before Kagome began to stir, twisting away from him and lazily stretching her arms above her head. After completing her elaborate stretching and twitching routine, she finally pushed off the blanket and sat up, immediately noticing the breeze across her right nipple. Her entire right breast actually. Her entire right breast that had flopped out of her tank top and was currently on full display.
 Now, if she had been more awake she might have tried to be smooth about it and just pop it back into her shirt. Or maybe slide back under the blanket and pretend she hadn’t noticed. But no, no, her sleepy brain that had just woken from a wonderful dream where her and Inuyasha’s wedding had taken front and center decided the best thing to do was scream, clutch the blanket to her chest, and fall off the bed. Removing her face from the plush carpeted floor, she looked over to see Inuyasha blushing all the way up to the tip of his ears.
 It was going to be a very long day.

 Kagome had been right that he shouldn’t focus too much on the party. However, Inuyasha didn’t think that was so much because the party wasn’t a big deal, but more that he should have been much more worried about the “small family” lunch that came first. After hearing the guest list for the shindig, he figured “small family” would still mean fourty people. No, it meant four: grandfather, baby brother Souta, Mama, and Kagome. End of guest list.
 The second surprise of the afternoon came as soon as they sat down and it became very clear that her family was unhappy -- with Kagome. Inuyasha was welcomed to the table with a handshake, a bow, and a deeply uncomfortable attack on his ears by Mama. Kagome, however, was welcomed by a barrage of questions ranging from the simple “why don’t you call more” to the more intense “you aren't dropping out are you?”.  Kagome, though, had been expecting this and was prepared to answer any question in stride, with no input from Inuyasha whatsoever.  She'd decided on a system of actively shortening all her answers to keep them as honest as possible but not so honest as to break her own heart.
 Her mother started the formal questioning as soon as the first round of beverages were poured, “Remind me how you met, dear."
 “Second year, I tutored him for his Japanese language credit.” And I instantly fell in love with his stupid smile and his determination to master a language he was absolutely terrible at.
 “When was your first date?” asked her brother.
 “That October, we went to the pumpkin patch with another couple.” He'd just broken up with someone and was a dick the whole time. Yay first date. It's not like his declaration of not dating for the remainder of his college experience and focusing entirely on classes  made me want to drown in my mulled wine or anything.
 “But engaged? Engaged before we even got to meet him?” said her grandfather, after offering an entire plate of chicken to the young man in question, completely unphased by his inhuman appetite.
 “Well, I knew I wanted to marry him at that first tutoring session, so it just made sense." Do not make eye contact with the smug dog-demon do not make eye contact with the smug dog-demon. "He surprised me with the ring," because he's brilliant and thoughtful like that she added in her head "and there was no way I could even think of saying no even if it wasn’t exactly traditional.”
 “So, you aren’t living together yet?” her grandfather asked as they finished their dessert.
 “No, sir,” Inuyasha answered before Kagome could. He’d spent most of the lunch sitting quietly and enjoying Kagome being raked over the coals for her secrecy. But now he’d had his fun and knew he should step in and save Kagome from what was obviously a sticking point for her grandfather.  “Not yet, anyway. Kagome wanted to wait and I’m in no rush. We still need to finish school before we do any actual wedding planning anyway so a long engagement is exactly what we want.”
 Kagome suddenly wished she’d let Inuyasha field more questions. In one surprisingly sweet reply he’d both soothed her grandfather’s concerns regarding impropriety and shut down any future wedding plan conversations. He might not be her real fiance, but damn if she didn’t want to kiss him at that moment. The realization hit her like a freight train, and she felt herself blush horribly, deeply grateful the meal was over.

 Though Kagome called it a party, the tone was more like the cocktail hour at a corporate conference. There were munchies on trays, an open bar, and smart business clothes as far as the eye could see. Kagome had chosen a conservative navy dress that she definitely owned before Inuyasha presented her with the glorious pink ring that just happened to look absolutely breathtaking against the dark fabric.
 Kagome stopped counting after the fifth person complimented her on the gorgeous jewelry - but everytime it happened she swore Inuyasha's head got one hatsize bigger. He couldn't help it really- both his human and his demon sides were beyond pleased to hear people openly accepting his claim on Kagome but his human side was especially pleased at the attention the ring was getting. Having grown-up in foster homes and working nearly full time from age sixteen, it was a new experience to have people gawk and praise a sparkly thing associated directly with him. But it was his demon side that would spend the rest of the evening humming in absolute delight.
 Inuyasha smelled the wolves as they entered the party and quickly pulled Kagome into the nook next to the coat rack.
 "You didn't say there would be other canine demons here," he said in a harsh whisper.
 "I absolutely did too! Choro and his grandson Kouga run the legal department, of course they would be here."
 "Well you didn't mention they were wolves."
 "What difference does it make?" Kagome didn't understand why it mattered that they were canine. He'd already met two elemental demons and horse-hanyou without batting an eye..
 Inuyasha shook his head, sending his long white hair rippling around his shoulders, "You really have no idea how good my sense of smell is do you?"
 "What does that-"
 "They won't believe we're engaged if we don't smell like each other."
 Oh. Oh, dear. If her holding his arm as they walked around or the few times she'd gripped his hand in her own weren't enough, what did they need? Her knees almost gave out just thinking about it.
 "How do we fix that?" A violent blush was already spreading across her cheeks.
 He smirked at her, the bastard, "Don't look so panicked Kags. We're in public with your family after all so it's not like they'd expect us to smell like sex."
 He should not have said that. At the mere mention of Kagome and sex Inuyasha's brain went into visual overload, imagining all the ways he could make her smell like him inside and out. Well, this was the closest he was ever going to get so waste not want not. He took a confident step forward forcing Kagome to back into the wall. He placed one of her hands flat against his chest and the other on his hip. With Kagome appropriately positioned, he put his own broad, warm hands on her shoulders and whispered, "Trust me."
 He lathed his tongue in one long, broad stroke from her collar bone to her earlobe. Her whole body went stiff -- if she had a tail it would definitely be standing on end. His hands traveled down her arms to her hips where he squeezed her gently before stepping back, all of his energy focusing on not getting an erection that these stupid dress pants absolutely would not hide.
 Kagome stood there completely shell shocked. If the demon sense of smell was anywhere near as good as he claimed then everyone in the room knew she wanted to jump his bones… including him. Was it possible to die of mortification?
 She loudly cleared her throat and asked, "Are we good?"
 Accepting a short nod as his answer she smoothed her dress and pushed away from the wall. She only took two steps before having to stop again as Inuyasha gave her two firm pats on her butt "Just for good measure".
 Oh yes, his demon was quite pleased.
 -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
 Since Kagome had no idea how long scents lasted and didn't trust herself to ask Inuyasha, she decided to make a beeline right for Kouga and Choro. The elder demon made polite chit chat for all of three minutes before bowing out to "leave the cubs to have a good time." Inuyasha really wished he hadn't. As soon as they approached he knew there was something about Kagome and Kouga's history she had failed to mention. The wolf was looking at her less like his boss's granddaughter and more like a menu item. After they survived this he was really going to need to talk to her about prioritizing information.
 It pleased Inuyasha slightly to see that Kagome was just as displeased with being left alone with Kouga. As soon as Choro was out of sight her entire body language changed and her grip on Inuyasha's arm became bruising.
 "Nice talking to you Kouga, but we should really go mingle," she said in a clipped tone.
 "Do you really want to spend your evening with this mutt? Come on, you couldn't find anyone better at that fancy little school you ran off to?"
 Kouga took a predatory step towards her and Inuyasha let out a warning growl without even meaning to. Now that he had Kouga's attention though, he wasn't going to let Kagome try and polite their way out of this.
 "Fuck off, wolf."
 "Language dog breath, so uncivilized. Can't imagine Mr. Higurashi would be pleased to hear just what kind of trash his granddaughter picked up from the east coast. I can tell from the smell of you you're not getting anything out of this relationship besides her grandfather's money. So, tell me, how's it feel to know every guy in the room is imagining what he'd do with her once she finally kicks your ass to the curb?"
  Inuyasha knew better than to try and lie to the wolf demon. So instead, he decided to embrace the one time it would ever be safe to mention the best moment of his life to date in public.
 “Imagine all you want, jackass, I’m the one who got to see her tits this morning.”
 Kagome went bright red, but smartly didn’t correct him that it was an accident. She wasn’t a fan of the way either of them was talking about her, but she also didn’t want to ruin their whole charade, and risk a scene, at the eleventh hour by being indignant out loud. She met her limit though when Inuyasha attempted to end the conversation by sticking his clawed middle finger straight into the air in front of Koga’s face. Koga responded by smirking and sticking his own fingers - his index, middle, and ring - into the air. At first Kagome didn’t understand why he’d stick up three until she saw that two of them had short, smooth, rounded nails while the other had an unaltered claw. Based on how Inuyasha’s ears pinned back, the implication wasn’t lost on him. Kagome decided to join in the juvenile display but sticking up her own finger - her left ring finger adorned with the hefty jewel. Pissing contest effectively ended, Kagome looped her arm around Inuyasha’s and led him back into the main throng of people and decidedly away from vulgar wolf demons.
 -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
 After nearly three hours of too many people and not enough food Inuyasha actually thought he was going to make it the whole night without running into Hojo.
 Inuyasha was an idiot.
 The evening was winding down. He and Kagome had claimed seats at one of the tables, nursing their final drinks of the night. Kagome had made it clear they weren't leaving until all the guests had gone home and Inuyasha was trying desperately to telepathically convince the few stragglers to fuck off. Instead one of them, a plain brunette man of average height, average features, and wearing a boring black suit grossly similar to his own came directly up to their table and hugged Kagome from the back.
 "There you are Kagome! I've been looking all over for you!"
 She started, but turning and making eye contact with her assailant Kagome offered the young man a genuine smile while standing to return the hug.
 "Hojo, it's nice to see you."
 "I thought I missed you, but this is so much better. Now we can talk without me having to share you with a hundred people - you're all mine for now." Hojo placed his hand over Kagome's left, and guided her to sit back down. His hand stayed overtop hers on the table, as if intentionally blocking her engagement ring from view. Inuyasha couldn't decide if the guy was painfully obtuse or a cunning little fucker. Surely he'd heard about her engagement by now?
 Kagome, though, was quick to reply.
 "Not all alone. Hojo, this is my fiance Inuyasha." She removed her hand from under Hojo's and wiggled her fingers in the air, the ring sparkling in the strong overhead lighting.
 Hojo made a polite bow of his head in Inuyasha’s direction but didn't actually address him. Inuyasha could smell the other man's nervous sweat as he looked back at Kagome and said, "That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about Kagome - alone, please?"
 Hojo didn’t wait for her reply before grabbing her wrist and pulling her away from her seat and towards a cocktail table where another man they’d met earlier in the evening was standing. Kagome felt what little patience she had leave her- she didn’t need a tag team telling her she should date Hojo instead. She pulled her wrist from Hojo’s grasp and placed both hands on her hips, the picture of indignant rage. She’d bit her tongue when Kouga berated Inuasha’s character, she wouldn’t do it again.
 Hojo, just stop. You’re a nice guy you really are, but I love Inuyasha. He’s smart and thoughtful, and determined. Sure he’s a little rough around the edges but that just makes really getting to know him that much more rewarding. He makes me feel,” she paused and dropped to a whisper, “he makes me feel special. And I wouldn’t give him up for anything.” She took a deep breath and soldiered on with something she should have said years ago. “I’m sorry I let my family keep trying to get us together when I wasn’t interested. It wasn’t fair to you and I should have been honest. I hope you can forgive me and really give Inuyasha a chance. He’ll surprise you.”
 Kagome thought her eyes were going to pop out of her head when instead of arguing, Hojo started laughing; a full, bubbling laugh that almost had him doubling over. Kagome tapped her foot impatiently waiting to let in on the joke she obviously missed.
 “Oh, Kagome you are so entirely wrong.”
 “Excuse me! How d--”
 “No no no, I mean about me. I’m not trying to convince you to leave him. I’m trying to introduce you to someone.” He turned his head and caught the attention of the exceptionally tall man at the cocktail table, waving him over.
 “Your family wasn’t entirely unsuccessful in setting me up during these endless parties. Even when you were away they still sent me invitations. Jinenji and I usually hung back at a table together, and well, one thing lead to another.” Hojo extended his hand as Jinenji from marketing came to stand next to him, the hanyou absolutely dwarfing him. “We weren’t sure how people would react since you and I have been, well not exactly an item but not-not an item for so long. But seeing you so happy with someone you chose instead of someone chosen for you gave us a lot of confidence. So Kagome, this is Jinenji, my boyfriend.”
 Ah, well, that explained a lot. After a decade of what Kagome thought was Hojo ‘just not getting it’, it turns out she was the one who missed all the signs. She smiled and extended her hand in greeting to Jineji who shook it incredibly gently for how large his hand was compared to hers.  They’d met once or twice at office events and Kagome immediately approved of the match- they were going to be good for eachother.  Kagome felt a decade long weight leave her chest as she listened to the boys gush about their first date after the last Christmas party.  She was pleased down to her toes to know she would be able to keep Hojo as a friend after all these years and even happier to know he’d found someone he really loved. She followed them to the bar for another glass of wine: they had a lot of catching up to do.
 -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
 Alone at their abandoned table Inuyasha sat completely stunned. Kagome really had no idea how good his hearing was, did she? All night when discussing their ‘relationship’ she’d actively avoided using the word love- and he didn’t blame her.  So why had she suddenly shouted it at Hojo? It probably didn’t mean anything.
Unless it did.
 Unless it meant everything: the photo, why it was so easy for her to lie about her feelings for him when usually the smallest fib had her stammering and sweating bullets, why she was so reactive to his scent marking.
 Holy fuck.
 Kagome Higurashi was in love with him.
 Now what?

💖💖💖
How you were up at 3:00am the night before your best friend’s rehearsal dinner and subsequent bachelorette party was beyond you. Well, it wasn’t really beyond you because you knew why. It was that damn Ben. You and he had been texting since that first game night and some nights it lasted until one of you fell asleep in the very early morning, phone in hand.
It stayed… mostly friendly, but every so often it ventured towards flirtation, which you thoroughly appreciated. But then the morning would come and one of you would inevitably make the switch back to just friendly. All in person interactions followed the same type of pattern. A couple more game nights as each other’s partners, dinner parties sitting across from each other and sharing looks and laughs, and brunches with free flowing mimosas and bloody mary’s that turned you both into tipsy, touchy flirts were enough to make both of you desperately want a quick fuck in a wedding reception bathroom (or anyplace and anytime sooner), and maybe more too.
In any sort of wedding related event, the two of you were paired up, and usually by the happy couple themselves. It was some sort of sweet torture that the two of you were walking together. You both greatly enjoyed spending so much time together, talking, flirting, whatever, but the damn rules were always on the edge of your minds.
Not that either of you knew the other was aware of the rules as well. Ben had the tiniest inkling that you might be, but he didn’t want to risk bringing it up in case you didn’t because he would’ve been a little embarrassed. You were completely clueless and were more focused on not breaking the rules than figuring out if Ben had any idea about it, because boy was it getting hard not to break them.
Anyway, it was 3:00am and you were struggling to keep your eyes open, but Ben’s texts always came right when they were about to close.
Ben: So what r u guys doing for Luce’s party?
Y/N: umm i think that’s a secret
Ben: A secret? I already told u what we’re doing 😤
Y/N: that’s on you bud
Ben: Rude
Ben: Whatever it is try not to get too drunk so I don't have to deal with u complaining of a hangover at the wedding
Y/N: says the guy who shows up to most of the brunches hungover or half drunk from the night before. besides, it’ll be hard to get drunk when i don’t have my personal drink maker there
Ben: Ah ur dependent on me now? No one else does it quite like me?
Y/N: that’s right, hardy. no one else keeps me filled up the way you do, it’s why i keep you around
Y/N: *my cup
Ben: It’s not the stimulating conversation or my charming good looks?
Y/N: those help, but no it’s your usefulness as a personal bartender
Ben: If I’m ur personal bartender, where are my tips?
Y/N: i’ll settle up after the wedding
Ben: Looking forward to it
_____
About 16 hours and a rehearsal and rehearsal dinner later, the wedding party was splitting into two groups for the respective bachelor and bachelorette parties.
You saw the boys gathered by one of the tables where the rehearsal dinner had been. Lucy and Rami were talking so everyone was taking a minute before it was time to leave. From where you were you could see Joe and Sami talking in hushed tones and counting what looked like a few hundred dollars in bills ranging from ones to twenties.
Catching Ben’s eye as he was scowling at you, you couldn’t help but laugh. Since he had told you that they were going on a chartered boat that had been set up for poker, you knew exactly what the money was for. Ben walked quickly over to you, crossing his arms and giving you a look once he got there.
When he didn’t say anything you asked, “Can I help you?”
“You haven’t told anyone have you?” Ben asked, still frowning. The little crease between his eyebrows and the slight pout of his lips made it hard to remember to answer his question.
“Of— of course not, I’m not gonna risk ruining the surprise for Rami,” you said, placing your hand on his still crossed forearm before smirking and saying, “Unlike you.”
Ben’s frown deepened for a second and you worried if you had been too mean, but then he just started laughing. You joined in and both of you took a step closer without realizing.
“Shut up,” Ben said, still chuckling.
You looked up at him with a challenge in your eyes and replied, “Make me.”
Ben suppressed a groan and looked down at you, biting his lip. There were a few seconds of heated silence and you felt yourself moving closer to Ben as he was doing the same.
“Y/N, we’re ready to head out, are you?” Emma called from where she and the rest of the bridesmaids were.
Ben cleared his throat and you turned around to tell her yeah. Then you turned back to Ben, putting your hand on his arm again, “See you tomorrow, then.”
“Have fun, be safe,” he told you.
“You too, don’t go falling off the boat,” you said with a smile that he returned.
Then he leaned down and kissed your cheek quickly, saying bye as he stepped back and you waved before turning around and following the group out the door.
_____
The bachelorette party was set up at your apartment because it was bigger than Emma’s and so that it could maintain the surprise for Lucy. It had required a bit of thinking for you and Emma to figure out what to do because Lucy didn’t want to go to a stripclub or anything of the like. Plus, since she was having the party the night before her wedding, she didn’t want a wicked hangover. She also wanted her mom, aunt, and young cousin to come, so it had to be something that they could participate in too.
Everyone went inside, seeing the multiple tables set up in the living room, wondering aloud what the plan was. It was only a couple minutes before there was a knock on the door. Just outside, there were two women wearing aprons that you let in with a smile.
Emma stood up to introduce them, “Everyone, this is Katy and Jay, they’ll be teaching us how to make cocktails tonight!”
Everyone exclaimed happily, and you were glad to see Lucy smiling brightly in excitement. You went to the kitchen and wheeled out a bar cart that had all of the equipment, alcohol, and mixers that would be needed. There were enough tables for everyone to be in pairs, and you were paired with Lucy so that Emma could be with her cousin, May.
One from each pair grabbed one of each of the items that Katy and Jay said to grab. The group included one pregnant bridesmaid, one who just didn’t drink, and the fourteen year old May, so your instructors had planned drinks that would still be good without alcohol.
The class ended up being a lot of fun; they taught different types of martinis, spritzes, mojitos, and G&T’s, so that by the time they were all made and everyone that was drinking tried them all, it was enough to be more than a little tipsy.
Jay and Katy took their leave after many thanks and promises of more cocktail parties in the future. Then you announced the next part of the evening.
“It-- it is now time for a fashion ex-- extara--vangza!” you exclaimed, stumbling over the long word and causing everyone to crack up with you.
Then Emma came out of your room, pulling, along with the help of her mom and aunt, two giant racks of clothes that you and she had spent the past few weeks collecting at different thrift and second-hand stores. You had gotten old wedding dresses, prom dresses, funky patterned shirts, bohemian skirts, oversized blazers with giant shoulder pads, sparkly bralettes, and everything in between.
Seeing the clothes, Lucy jumped up and ran over, immediately looking through them and soon there was a little crowd around the racks.
Emma tried to shout over everyone, “We have seven minutes to create an entire outfit and then we will have our fashion show! Don’t worry, this is only the first of many!”
The whole affair was full of laughs, shouts of excitement, and a couple quick arguments over who got what. Then the runway had to be prepared, which meant turning on the color changing LED lights you had and turning on a playlist of Beyoncé, ABBA, Rihanna, Adele, Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Queen, though only the upbeat songs.
Everyone did their best struts down the runway and then posed strikingly at the end, channeling their inner model. The crowd said their oohs and ahhs and clapped for each one. You and Emma took turns modelling and being a photographer each round so that all of the outfits were captured during their walk.
After about five rounds, the fashion show devolved into a dance party where everyone was laughing and singing along with the songs.
Around midnight, you lost Lucy’s mom, her aunt, and May to tiredness. And once the first group had left, it wasn’t long before others started leaving as well. By 12:30am, the only ones left were Lucy and Emma, to help clean up. But you both tried to make Lucy sit and relax since she was the bride and shouldn’t have to clean up after her own party. She refused and helped anyway, hanging up the clothes that had gotten left on the couches and floor. Though a lot of them ended up in a large tote bag she found in your room that she planned to take home with her.
Once all the trash was thrown away, the dishwasher was running, and the last stray glittery shirt was hung up, you ushered Emma and Lucy out the door with hugs, kisses, and reminders to get a good night’s sleep.
You flopped on your couch, tired out but also somehow wired with energy and you debated over watching one episode of TV or just going to sleep. You were reaching to grab the remote to turn off the music when there was a knock at the door.
Rolling your eyes and smiling on the way, you unlocked it and threw it open, the question, “What, did you realize you left one of the pairs of cute trousers behind?” halfway out of your mouth before you realized that it wasn’t Lucy and Emma.
“Ben,” you said in surprise. Probably the last person you were expecting at this moment was Ben, but there he was, in dark jeans and a plain white t-shirt that fit him too well to leave anything to your imagination, his hair a little messy like he had been running his hands through it and his cheeks flushed pink due to what you could only assume was alcohol.
You opened the door wider and let him in, after you remembered to stop just staring at him and trying to imagine what he’d look like with those clothes off.
Ben smiled at you sweetly and said hi. Then he looked you up and down and a brief look of confusion crossed his face.
You looked down at yourself and realized that you were still wearing one of the sequin bralettes, a black mesh t-shirt underneath that, a high waisted neon purple skater skirt, and a houndstooth yellow and pink blazer with shoulder pads. Chuckling at yourself, you explained, “Oh, we had a fashion show.”
As the two of you walked into your living room, Ben nodded in understanding.
“Sit. How was the boat? Who won big in poker?” you asked as you sat on your feet, kneeling. You asked a little more enthusiastically than usual, but you were still kinda tipsy.
“Boat was good. Ummm I think maybe Rami won, yeah, he has a good poker face, he’s a good actor. Has an Oscar, you know,” Ben rambled, and you nodded with a smile as you thought that he must be kinda tipsy himself. Then he turned so he was facing you more and closed his eyes, shaking his head, “But we didn’t even play poker for long.”
“No?” you asked, leaning closer to him.
“No,” he said, opening his eyes slowly and smiling, “We did karaoke instead.”
“That sounds fun,” you whispered, looking down to his hand that was very close to yours. If you had been sober, you would’ve just looked, but you weren’t, so you grabbed it in yours and started playing with his fingers.
“Mmmm,” Ben hummed and you wondered whether it was in agreement to your statement or because he enjoyed what you were doing.
“What did you sing?” you asked curiously.
Ben flipped your hands so that he was the one doing the playing as he responded, “Me and Joe did a duet of ‘Greased Lightnin’’ from Grease. He was Danny and I was Kenickie.”
“Kenickie was always my favorite,” you commented, looking up from your hands to his eyes.
Ben looked up to your eyes as well, leaning in and asking, “Really?”
You moved closer too, and as you nodded, you felt his breath on your lips yet again.
This time, there were no interruptions and you closed the last few inches together, your lips finally meeting. The first kiss was soft, but the next one was a little more urgent, and the next even more so. Before you knew it, you were parting your mouth for Ben’s tongue and he was teasing along your lower lip, daring you to follow into his mouth.
You moaned as Ben’s hands came to your waist and he helped you straddle his lap. Your hands went to his chest and down to his stomach, feeling the taught muscles that you had seen through his shirt. Ben pushed your blazer off your shoulders and then one of his hands moved to tangle in your hair and the other slid lower and underneath your skirt to your ass
Breaking the kiss, you instead moved to placing kisses along his jaw then down his neck, scraping your teeth lightly on his pulse point and making Ben shudder. He moved his hands back to your waist and pushed down, at the same time grinding his hips up into you from below. You gasped and moaned, feeling his hardness pressing against you through only your underwear.
Kissing back up to his mouth, you bit his lower lip, getting a groan and another grind of his hips in return. Your hands slid up his torso and then to his hair, tugging it lightly and Ben continued to help you move with him as he moaned. Each pass of his hard cock on your clothed pussy made you a little more desperate for more and you whined whenever he grazed your clit.
When you tilted your head back in pleasure, Ben took the opportunity to move to your neck, kissing down the column of your throat before starting a search for your sweet spot. He found it quickly, and started sucking, but as good as it felt, you had to stop him.
“Ben, no marks, the wedding.”
Just that simple sentence knocked the sense back into both of you and you each leaned back, your hands all moving to your own sides.
“We can’t do this,” you said in unison, and then looked at each other in confusion.
“Wait--” you started.
“What--” Ben said at the same time.
“Why can’t we?” you asked him, a few thoughts falling into place as you remembered that initial conversation when Lucy had singled out Ben.
“Well, I’m just not supposed to-- I mean, I probably shouldn’t say…” he trailed off awkwardly and you got off his lap quickly, pacing in front of the couch as you came to a conclusion.
“Did Lucy tell you not to sleep with me?” you asked, turning to Ben quickly.
“No, well yes, well kind of. I guess it’s fine. Rami told me not to sleep with anyone from the wedding party, he didn’t single out you. But I assumed that Lucy felt the same way,” Ben said sheepishly, a blush covering his cheeks.
“Don’t be embarrassed, Lucy told me not to sleep with anyone either. Except she did single you out. She excused that it was because we’re walking together, but it’s probably because we’re both sluts. Nice to know I’ve got an ally out here,” you said wryly but when you looked over at Ben he just looked very confused. You quickly added, “That wasn’t meant as an insult.”
“No, it’s fine. I’m just surprised that they would go to such lengths. And I’m a little mad,” he commented.
You nodded and flopped back down on the couch next to him, “Yeah, me too, but I can see their point.”
Both of you sighed and then laughed.
“And we probably shouldn’t do anything tonight?” you asked, wanting his agreement, because you were close to just saying fuck it and doing something anyway.
“Yeah, we probably shouldn’t tonight,” he said, facing you and you could see that there was still a healthy amount of desire in his eyes. “But I make no promises for the reception.”

The Stars In Your Eyes
THIS IS PART 2 OF TO THE MOON AND BACK
Part 2: Chapter 1
A/N: I’m thinking of starting a one-shot “series” based off of songs, send me a message with any songs you want to see!
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 1,986
6/13/2015
The day of the wedding. You had spent the entire day getting ready and worrying. JJ made sure that everything was going off without a hitch while you got dolled up.
Your makeup was natural, your hair was a curly half-up-half-down and jewels for decoration, and your dress was a floral and lace spaghetti strap gown. This was the wedding of your dreams. Reid had let you take creative control because he knew he’d love whatever you did.
By the time 5 o’clock rolled around, JJ, Prentiss, and Garcia were all dressed in their blush bridesmaid dresses. JJ said that everything was ready downstairs and that the ceremony can begin.
The four of you made your way down to the courtyard, “everything’s going to be fine,” JJ gave you a hug before making her way down the aisle. Reid was at the altar with your bridesmaids and Spencer’s groomsmen.
“Are you ready?” Rossi said from behind you.
You took a deep breath, “I think so.” You found Henry who was holding his little basket of flower petals and Jack who had both the rings, “you guys are gonna kill it,” you knelt down and gave them both a high five before sending them down the aisle.
Within a minute it was time for you to walk to your soon to be husband. You decided you wanted the pianist to play Canon in D major over the traditional Here comes the bride.
The music started and you locked arms with Rossi. The two of you emerged from the bush you were hiding behind and started down the aisle. Your friends and family were standing and looking at you in awe but the only person you focused on was Reid. You felt the tears starting in your eyes and tried to hold them back. Reid was looking at you the same way he looked at you on your first date. The love you felt from just his gaze was enough to know everything was fine.
You reached the altar and stopped to give Rossi a hug and a kiss on the cheek, “you look perfect,” he whispered into your ear. Reid had come down to meet you and bring you to the officiant. When you reached the officiant you turned and gave JJ your bouquet.
“We are gathered here on this beautiful day to witness the union of Y/N and Spencer in holy matrimony,” the minister started. It sucked that you had to face the minister and you couldn’t look at Reid. “This is a day of great celebration, for married life - a shared life - is a great blessing. As Y/N and Spencer embark on this journey together they will be able to nurture a love that makes them better versions of themselves. Marriage is a garden we sow with love and harvest in personal growth. Y/N and Spencer, on your journey together, keep your spouse in the space of the highest priority in your heart. The love that you share must be guarded and cherished forever, for it is your most valuable treasure. Always remember these words; Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. You have chosen to write your vows, and it is with these words you express your binding promises to love, honor, and cherish one another. If you are ready to make these promises to each other I invite you now to face each other and declare your intentions. Y/N when you’re ready you may begin,” he gestured to you.
The two of you turned to face each other and JJ handed you a small sheet of paper. You opened it up and started to laugh a little bit, “Spencer, you are a million dreams and a million prayers of a little girl come true. You are kind. You are intelligent. You are resilient. Your laugh is contagious and you can put away an entire Baskin robbins ice cream like nobody else. You acknowledge my strength and accept my faults. You make me want to be a better person every day. I take you as you are today, tomorrow, and for eternity to come to be my husband. Even when the day comes that we’re old and gray, I promise to always see you with the same eyes and the same heart that I see you within this exact moment. I promise to dream with you, celebrate with you, and walk beside you through whatever life brings. I vow to laugh with you and to comfort you during times of joy and sorrow. I promise to always pursue you, fight for you, and to love you unconditionally and wholeheartedly for the rest of my life. You are my best friend and I’m the luckiest girl in the world that I can call you mine. I love you,” you were in tears by the time you finished, everyone else was too so it seemed.
“Absolutely beautiful,” the minister nodded. “Spencer when you’re ready you may begin.”
“As you may notice I’m standing on the right. This tradition dates back to medieval times where the groom would stand on the right in case he needed to draw his sword and protect his bride. I may not be a knight in shining armor, but I stand here today ready to protect you from whatever life throws our way. I promise to always protect you from the evil in the world and to keep you safe. I promise to take you as you are and to love you every day. You are the best thing to happen to me in a while and I hope I never lose you. Thank you for everything you have done for me and thank you for being so patient. I love you,” you were both crying at this point, but the prospect of marrying your dream man was enough to keep you together.
“Thank you for sharing your vows with all of us. The rings you are about to place on each other's fingers are symbols of the love you expressed. They will remind you of the vows you have just spoken, and of the eternal love that you have for one another. Spencer, place the ring on Y/N's finger and repeat after me. As this ring encircles your finger,” the minister started.
Reid grabbed the ring from Morgan and your hand, “As this ring encircles your finger.”
“From this moment forward,” the minister continued.
“From this moment forward,” Spencer’s hands were shaking.
“So will my love forever encircle you.”
“So will my love forever encircle you,” you could see more tears in Spence’s eyes.
“You will never walk alone.”
“You will never walk alone.”
“My heart will be your shelter.”
“My heart will be your shelter.”
“My arms will be your home.”
“My arms will be your home.”
“We will walk through life as partners & best friends.”
“We will walk through life as partners & best friends,” Spence’s gaze made your soul ache.
“I promise to do my best to love, cherish, and accept you.”
“I promise to do my best to love, cherish, and accept you.”
“Just the way you are.”
“Just the way you are.”
“I give you my heart until the end of time.”
“I give you my heart until the end of time.”
“I have no greater gift to give.”
“I have no greater gift to give,” his voice broke with the last few words as he slid the ring on your finger.
“Now, Y/N, place the ring on Spencer's finger and repeat after me.”
You turned around to grab the ring from JJ and placed it on his finger. The minister started your turn. You stared into Reid’s eyes and repeated the beautiful words to him. Time seemed to be going a million miles an hour and stopped in place at the same time. It felt like your entire life was flashing before your eyes and like it was only you and Spencer in this moment.
“By the power given to me by the American Marriage Ministries and by the State of Virginia,” the minister's voice broke you out of your trance, “I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride.”
You and Reid pulled each other into your most passionate kiss yet. The earth melted away as you kissed the love of your life and you felt as safe as the day he first held you in his arms. You felt indestructible. As long as you two were together there was nothing that could hurt you.
The whoops and cheers from your friends and family came back to your mind as the kiss was broken. The smile on your face could never be wiped away. Reid pulled you into a hug and picked you up off the ground. His smile matched yours in terms of pure joy.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honor to present for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Reid!”
The two of you joined hands and made your way back up the aisle and to the small courtyard before the entrance to the reception hall. The rest of the guests made their way into the reception hall.
Your photographer asked you to join your wedding party at the altar again for pictures. You took photos with your family, Reid’s family, and your team rather quickly. You could sense that Spence was just as excited to start partying as you were.
The group photos were finished with haste and then it was time for you and Spencer to take photos with just the two of you. The photographer made sure to go quickly and take some truly beautiful pictures.
“Thank you,” you shook the photographer’s hand as you made your way to the banquet hall. When you walked in you saw JJ waving you over, “I'll be right back,” you gave your husband a kiss on the cheek and quickly made your way over to her.
“You ready to change?” JJ asked as you finally got to her.
You nodded, “yeah.” The two of you quickly made your way up the stairs and to your bridal suite. She helped you out of your gown and into a similar, but shorter, white dress. You made your way back downstairs to find Reid.
The rest of the special night went off without a hitch. Morgan and JJ gave beautiful speeches followed by Rossi with a special message. When it came time for the first dance, you and Reid were both overflowing with joy. During the dance, Reid whispered a poem into your ear. You recognized it as Istanbul #2461, widely considered the world’s oldest love poem.
It seemed everyone around you was having a blast. They were all dancing and letting loose. In your line of work, it was hard to find moments where you could just be happy and not have to worry about being blown up, poisoned, or shot. Prentiss, JJ, and Garcia made you dance with them, it had been a long time since they could all be together without one of them needing help.
As the night came to a close the dancing became rarer. When everyone left, Reid called a cab to take you back to the apartment. He was being a stickler about tradition so he insisted to carry you over the threshold.
“If you’re sticking to tradition so closely,” you sighed as he set you down, “then you know what happens now.” you reached for his tie. He reached around and started to unzip your dress while simultaneously pushing you into the bedroom.

Wedding Chaos
Tumblr media
I’m clearly in a wedding mood, but hey, June is bride’s month or something like that.
This was requested FOREVER ago but it took me forever to write it, too. I have to admit this is the fourth version of this request that I’ve written, the other three just sitting in my Google Drive unfinished and untitled.
I hope you like this, sorry it took way too long (and yes I still have another request sorry I suck)!
60.  “I can’t sleep without you. I need my personal body heater and cuddles.”
____________________________________
“I now pronounce you, husband and wife!” the minister says, your best friend kissing her now husband as everyone around you cheers.
Since you met, you always said you would be each other maid/matron of honor. You were a long way from Charlie proposing, but you knew that you would be standing up there saying ‘I do’ to him with Natalie by your side, just like you were doing for her now.
The entire wedding, you knew you were supposed to be focused on Natalie and Domenic, but you couldn’t keep your eyes off Charlie, and he couldn’t keep his eyes off you either, making it all the more distracting. Something about the red dress Nat had picked made him unable to look away. The dress fit you perfectly, and he knew how happy you were that Natalie picked a dress that had pockets. He loved how it looked on you and how happy you were wearing it, but damn, was he excited to take it off you tonight.
Natalie’s college roommate, Samantha, nudges you to pay attention as Natalie and Domenic start to leave, “I know your man is hot, but we’ve gotta get to pictures so we can get to our dates faster,” she jokes pushing you towards Vinny. Her boyfriend was sitting by Charlie, probably wanting to do the same thing to her that Charlie wanted to do to you. Leave it to Nat to pick the dresses that made you look so good, your boyfriends wanted them on the hotel room floor.
You walk down the aisle arm-in-arm with Domenic’s best man, waving to Charlie as the wedding party follows so you can take pictures outside. Natalie could not look more beautiful as the two of you took pictures together. “I’m so happy for you!” you tell her, starting to cry a little.
“I can’t wait for this to be you,” she says, smiling at you as the photographer takes pictures.
“Nope. We’re not thinking about that tonight. This day, today, is all about you, babe.”
Even though you were celebrating Nat, you couldn’t help but think of Charlie. Since he wasn’t in the wedding party, he was going to the reception alone while you went over with the rest of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, drinking so much champagne that you probably didn’t need to drink anymore at the wedding, even though you knew you were going to. At least you got to sit with Charlie to eat, thanks to your constant bothering of Natalie and convincing her and Domenic to have their own table while everyone else surrounded them.
“Can we talk about how Payton and Charlie didn’t pay attention the entire wedding?” Samantha says, just loud enough for you to hear it. For being drunk, she was really good at the whispering thing right now.
“I’m so glad you noticed that, too.”
“Well, it’s not like the boys are subtle. But at least it was enjoyable,” she shrugs, sending you both into uncontrollable laughter as one of the groomsmen pours you both more champagne.
Since taking the millions of photos and the drive to the reception in some traffic, it’s been at least an hour since the ceremony is over. You’re just hoping one of Natalie’s cousins or friends from school hasn’t tried to get to Charlie while you’re gone. He was currently hot and alone at a wedding; exactly what Natalie’s single friends would want.
‘Almost there!’ you text him, the champagne making you more excited than you should be.
‘Can’t wait! Everyone’s taking all the cheese! :0’
‘NO. Don’t let that happen!’
“Hey, Nat. Charlie told me that all the guests are eating the cheese. Don’t they know that wine and cheese is our staple girls night dinner?”
“That’s so rude! Babe, make sure no one else takes the cheese. Y/N/N and I need to get some,” she says to Domenic, clearly already drunk.
Everyone starts laughing as you pull up to the reception venue, Domenic taking the glass away from Natalie, “Maybe you don’t drink anymore until we give a toast,” he says. The smile hasn’t left his face the entire day, since seeing Natalie walk down that aisle.
You wonder if Charlie will be the same at your wedding? That’s assuming your suspicions are right that he actually is the one. What color will the wedding party wear; will they have the royal blue that you’ve always wanted, or will Charlie want another color? Where will he want to have it, somewhere in Boston or in one of your hometowns? Why are you even thinking about this? This is your best friend’s big day. Your time will come.
After the introductions, you finally get to sit down with Charlie, a plate at the spot next to him, you still a little drunk from the ride over. Samantha and Payton were off somewhere else, doing something else. You definitely knew what it was, but who really cares?
“What is this?” you look down at the plate filled with food.
“I made sure to get one of everything before it was gone, especially the cheese,” he says, smiling.
“You’re cheesy,” you joke, kissing his cheek as his hand rests on your thigh. The slit in the dress was high enough that he was touching your skin, and combined with the alcohol was sending chills through your body.
“And you’re drunk,” he whispers, his breath tickling your ear, sending you into a fit of giggles as he kisses your cheek. “You look so damn good in that dress, but I think you’d look even better with it off. You know I can’t sleep without you. I need my personal body heater and cuddles, and maybe a little more?”
“And all I can think about is you-”
“Y/N?” a familiar voice interrupts you.
You look away from Charlie to see someone that wasn’t on the guest list. “Andrew. What the fuck are you doing here?”
Andrew was Natalie’s high school boyfriend, the guy she dated right before she met Domenic. You never liked him, and he never liked you. Natalie dumped him after sophomore year of college because he was being a distant ass, but he never told any of his friends or family that they broke up until six months later, which was weird, right? You knew Natalie’s guest list inside and out; he wasn’t on it. No one you invited would have brought him. So why was he here?
“I’m going to go get some drinks for us,” Charlie says, clearly uncomfortable by Andrew’s presence.
“This is not the time for you to leave, no!” you call as he practically runs away anyway, trying to grab him by his sleeve only to nearly fall of your chair.
“Can we talk?” Andrew asks, taking Charlie’s seat next to you.
“You weren’t invited.” One of the biggest rules of your’s and Nat’s friendships was ‘hate the people the other hates, too.’ You hated him before she did, but now you hated him even more.
“Uh, Joy brought me.” He runs his hand through his hair, unable to make eye contact with you. That was his tell when he was lying about something; you had picked up on it about two weeks into meeting when you were younger.
“No, she didn’t. Joy brought her girlfriend,” you point to the dancefloor where the two of them are dancing. You didn’t know Joy’s girlfriend well enough to send her her own invitation, so Joy brought her as her plus one. There was no way Natalie knew that Andrew was here. You didn’t even know he was going to be here. You try to find her in the crowd of her guests, finding her by her parents and brothers, laughing, not even noticing anything outside of their conversation. Thank god. He needed to be gone before she could notice.
“Ok, I convinced someone to bring me. But I wanted to talk to you,” he admits. You roll your eyes as Vinny gets up to give his best man toast. Thank god, because that meant you had to go stand beside him to give your toast right after.
You find Charlie still standing by the bar, switching between giving Andrew a death stare and mentally undressing you, both of which you loved, you had to admit. You didn’t hear any of Vinny’s toast, but you were ready when it came to yours.
“I’ve been slowly crafting this speech since I met Natalie when we were, what, four? Natalie probably knows everything that I’m about to say but because she’s the greatest she’s going to roll her eyes and laugh at the appropriate times like I didn’t call her at two this morning and read this to her so I can make sure she wouldn’t kill me for what I’m about to say.
Nat, you loved me so much that you had to date me, because, as we have pointed out in many situations, Domenic is the male version of me. And now you’re spending the rest of your life with me. I mean, Dom,” you pause as everyone laughs, “No, wait, I mean me.” It was corny, sure, but that’s what Natalie loved. “But really, I’m so glad you found Domenic. He really is the perfect guy for you. And if you hurt her, I will go all Godfather on your ass.”
Your entire speech, you could feel Andrew’s eyes on you, but you didn’t know why, you just knew you didn’t like it. You go back to your seat as Domenic starts to say something, Andrew still sitting in Charlie’s seat, you trying to ignore him until Charlie can get back from the bar without being rude.
“I should have went with you to junior prom and started dating you, not Natalie,” Andrew blurts out as soon as Domenic is done talking, everyone starting to move around again.
“What?” you look at him, both disgusted and confused. Andrew asking Natalie to junior prom was what marked them being together as a couple. “Nope. Not doing this. You need to leave. Goodbye.” You get up and go to Charlie, still standing at the bar waiting for your drinks. “Please tell me you got me something strong.”
“Rum and coke, more rum. Who is that guy and why don’t I like him?” You follow Charlie’s eyes to see Andrew still sitting at your seat, playing with your name card.
“Natalie’s ex who wasn’t invited. He’s being a jackass and needs to leave.”
“Should I do something about it?”
“No, because I don’t need you getting kicked out. I’ll handle it.” The bartender finally gives Charlie the drinks, you taking yours and downing it a lot faster than you probably should. If you had any chance of not killing Andrew for being there in the first place, you couldn’t be sober, as bad as that may be.
Charlie orders you another drink, standing there in awe of how fast you put that back.
You go and try to find Samantha. “Mayday,” you tell her, grabbing her arm and dragging her off the dance floor and towards your table. “Voldemort is here.” After Natalie and Andrew broke up, Samantha had suggested you call him ‘Voldemort’ since the name was now ruined for all three of you.
You go over to your table, just praying that Andrew will actually leave. “So, you know you need to leave before she sees you, right?” you say, the two of you standing over him still sitting at your table.
“No.”
“There’s no way you could be that stupid,” Samantha says, rolling her eyes.
“I told you before that you needed to.”
“I want to talk to you. I want a chance.” You feel yourself ready to hit him across the face, unsure if the feeling is genuine anger or mixed with alcohol
“Ok, one, no. You’re my best friend ex. Two, no. I would never have dated you anyway. Three, no. I have a boyfriend. Four, no. You need to leave.” You start to walk away from him, going to find Vinny or one of the other groomsmen when you feel his hand grab your arm. “Let go of me.”
“Then at least dance with me.” Why was he being like this? He wasn’t being aggressive, but weirdly persistent. There was no reason for this.
“What is the point of this? No. You’re leaving.”
“You weren’t even invited. Get off of her.” Samantha tries to pry him off of you, only for him to push her away, causing her to almost fall back into the chair of another table.
“No.”
“If she told you that you need to leave, then I think you need to leave,” you hear Charlie’s voice from behind you. He walks right up to Andrew, towering over him as Andrew practically shrinks in front of him. “So let go of my girlfriend, and get out of her best friend’s wedding or I’m going to throw you out.”
He lets go of you, not breaking eye contact with Charlie. “You’re really dating this meathead?”
“Excuse me?” Charlie gets in front of you.
You grab Charlie’s collar, pulling him back so he doesn’t hit him like you knew he wanted to. “Charlie, not in here. Andrew, you need to leave before he brings you outside and actually hits you. You know he plays in the NHL, right?”
Andrew’s eyes grow wide, “Holy shit.”
“Yeah, so what are you going to do?” Charlie asks, getting closer to him despite your efforts to keep him away.
“Leave.” Andrew practically runs away, nearly knocking over Natalie in the process.
“Was that?” Natalie comes running towards you, confused.
“Yep.”
“How?”
“Don’t know,” Samantha shrugs, leaving to go join Payton.
“But he’s-”
“Leaving.” Charlie interrupts.
“My hero,” you say to him, throwing yourself in his arms and acting dramatic like in those old movies. The three of you laugh and go out onto the dance floor.
A slow dance starts and Domenic takes Natalie away, Payton and Samantha dancing together, too as Charlie wraps his arms around your waist, your arms draping on his shoulders, your foreheads pressed together as you sway to the music. “You are the most beautiful girl here,” Charlie whispers, his eyes closed.
“I think today you’re supposed to say that about the bride,” you tell him, even though you can’t help but smile at his compliment.
“Well, I think that about you every day.”
You look up to him as the song ends and changes to a faster song. The rest of the wedding melts away as you kiss him. The only person that mattered to you was Charlie. You could just imagine dancing like this at your own wedding to him.
The only thing that broke you out of it was when the DJ announced that it was time to throw the boquet. You didn’t care if you actually caught it, especially since the tradition is for single women, anyway. You knew you would be with Charlie regardless of some superstition. If anyone was getting married next, it was Samantha and Payton; they already knew their wedding date, she just didn’t have the ring yet.
The two of you are in the middle of all the ladies. “Does it really matter if we catch it if we already know we’re getting married?” Samantha asks.
“If neither of us is engaged, do we know that we’re getting married?”
“I’ve been with Payton for eight years. If I don’t marry him, I’m never getting married.”
Natalie turns around, signaling that she’s going to throw the bouquet. She throws it, all the other girls shoving each other as you just try to get your hands in the air. There was no point in you being in the group if you weren’t going to try.
One of Natalie’s cousin’s catches it, running over to her date who looks absolutely terrified. You go back to Charlie, him pulling you onto his lap. “Welp, I guess we’re not getting married yet,” you shrug, draping your arms on his shoulders like you did when you were dancing.
“Maybe not next, but we will.”

You don’t pay attention to the group of guys playing football on the lawn and they don’t pay any to you as you set up your seat. A cooler of drinks sits next to you and Rocket is on his own cushion on the other side of you. Once you sit down to start to try and study your jacket opens up and reveals your bikini top to the group of boys. You hear a “whoa bro, who is that” and look up to wave at them with a smile, not meaning to distract them. You recognize Steve in his confusion on why the game stops and wave specifically towards him with a big smile.
Steve eventually gets the group to stop staring and get back to the game. You had stopped paying attention to them after getting a wave back from Steve. He thinks that it works but the group keeps throwing the ball ‘accidentally’ in your direction so they can come over and say hi. It’s not until the fifth time it happens that you start to get annoyed and begin packing up. You could get more done at the salon anyways.
“Y/n! How are you today hun?” Wanda’s warm smile greets you as you walk into the shop.
“I’m alright, I’ve just been trying to study all day. How are you?” You sit yourself down at a chair in her section and set your bag next to you.
“We’ve been so busy today and it’s finally slowing down.” She huffs as she falls into the seat across from you. Your attentions are drawn to the door as a handsome man in a USPS uniform walks in.
“Hello, ladies!” He announces for the whole shop before turning to speak to the woman at the desk. “How are you doing? Sign here.” You hear Wanda’s breath hitch at the sound of his voice. The man leans on the counter and beams a smile while glancing around the shop. He catches sight of Wanda and winks at her. He turns back to the receptionist to collect his clipboard and while leaving does a double take towards Wanda. You don’t miss how her face glows red or how she bites her lip as she watches him leave.
“Have you been having trouble studying? Maybe you should join a study group.” Wanda is quick to speak up as if she could sense what you were about to ask.
“That’s not a bad idea. Maybe I could make them cookies or something for when I ask.”
“Yes! Come to my place when I’m off and I’ll help you make them.”
***
The next day you wake up excited to join a study group. You get dressed and grab your basket of cookies before heading to the library hoping to find Steve’s study group there. You don’t even want to join because of him, he's just the only person you know. You can’t stop the smile on your face when you spot his group.
“Hi, everybody.” You keep your voice down as you approach the table.
“Y/n, what are you doing here?”
“I’ve come to join your study group.” You turn to the rest of the table with a hopeful smile and hold out the basket. “And look, I brought sustenance.”
Peggy hums and shakes her head. “Our group is full.” She glares at Steve and he just ducks his head.
“Oh, is this, like, an RSVP thing?”
“No. It’s, like, a smart people thing.” You cringe as Sharon, Peggy’s friend speaks to you. “And like Peggy said, we’re full.”
“Come on, guys, we can make room for one more.” Peggy kicks Steve under the table and he gives a little “ow” in response.
“We’ve already assigned the outlines. The answer is no.” Everyone at the table avoids looking at you and Steve sends you a sympathy smile.
“Oh, okay. I’ll just leave, then.” You give one last grateful smile to Steve for trying before turning and letting it fall.
“Hey, maybe there’s, like, a sorority you could, like, join instead, like?” Valkyrie speaks to you from her group as you walk to the door.
“You know, if you had come to a rush party, I would have at least been nice to you.”
“Oh, is that before you voted against me and called me a dyke behind my back.”
“I don’t use that word.” She scoffs at that not believing it. “You must’ve heard it from Peggy.” With that you walk out of the library and head back to your dorm.
You change into pajamas and cuddle up with Rocket before dialing Hope’s number.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it’s me.”
“Oh my god, Y/n, guess what I’m doing right this second?”
“I don’t know, what?”
“I’m picking out my wedding dress!”
“What?” You shoot up into a sitting position in shock.
“Scott proposed!” You can hear her happy giggles in the background.
“Did you get Steve back yet?” Jane is the one to speak this time, Hope must have handed the phone over to her.
“Not yet.”
“Well we miss you hun, come visit us soon.”
“I miss you guys too. The people here are so vile. Hardly anybody speaks to me…”
“Oh I almost forgot to tell you I got bangs now.” Jane interrupts you and then the phone gets taken away from her.
“Keep June 1st open, you’re one of my bridesmaids and give Rocket our love. Love you bye!” You’re faced with silence as the phone is hung up and sighs.
“I’m happy for her Rocket I am but, I do wish I was the one who was at least happy with their life.” All you get is a small yup from him and a lick. Talk of a party from the hallway floats into your ears and immediately excites you.
“No way is somebody at this school actually having a party?” You jump out of bed excited only to stop when you see it was just Peggy and Sharon.
“Yes.” Sharon crosses her arms and purses her lips at you.
“But it’s a costume party. You probably wouldn’t even wanna come.”
“I love costume parties.”
“Oh. Well, then, I guess we’ll see you there.”
“Okay.” You smile at them and they turn to walk down the hallway before turning quickly to give you the address.
***
The brisk night air clings to you as you head towards the house. You shouldn’t have decided to walk but it had been warmer when you left. Now all you wanted to do was get inside and finally make some friends.
The party that was in full swing seems to freeze when you walk into the house full of costumeless people. You freeze in your tracks, you’ve never been more embarrassed in your life. How could anybody be so mean to do this to anyone else. You stood there frozen in place dressed as a playboy bunny for a few seconds before deciding to not let anyone see how embarrassed you were. You looked good and you’d own it. Seeing Peggy and Sharon sitting on a couch together and head towards them. When Peggy sees you she spits her drink out with a laugh.
“Thanks for inviting me, this party is super fun.”
“Nice outfit.”
“Oh, I like your outfit, too. Except when I dress up like a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated.” You take a deep breath in and strut over to the drink table hoping to ease your embarrassment a bit. You don’t hear Peggy say that you’re horrible or Sharon try to comfort her.
“Hey stranger.” You notice Steve just as you get there and he has an astonished look on his face.
“Y/n, wow, what’s with the costume.”
“I just wanted to shake things up a bit.” You figured it was pointless to tattle on Peggy, besides you don’t want to attack her even if she’s rude.
“Yeah, but how come you couldn’t wear this when we were going out?”
“Because I guess you never asked.” He leans back onto the table and caresses your waist like he did when you were together.
“Which is now ranked as the biggest regret of my life.” You both laugh at his joke. “I still can’t get over that you’re here, at Harvard. I mean back at UCLA I never would have guessed it. Sometimes I miss the memories, like those parties senior year, I thought we ruled the world.”
“You funneled all that beer at one and I had to hold your head while you threw up.”
“We felt like gods back then, tell me why can’t it be that way again.”
“You know, dreams don’t just disappear we could keep dreaming them here, like senior year but funner. You have your future all planned, and what if I’m standing there too. I’m here because I understand.”
“I’m not sure if I understand.”
“I’m here cause I’m serious.”
“Yeah right, you look real serious.” You pull away as if his words burned you. How could he still not believe you were serious.
“Steve, don’t forget I got into this school too. And now we’re both studying law together. Maybe we’ll both get Pierce's internship so we can work together too.”
“C’mon, you’re never get the grades for one of those spots. You’re not smart enough sweetie.”
“Y/n, you’re looking fluffy this evening.” Peggy digs into you about your outfit again as she rounds the corner to stand at Steve’s side.
“Look Boobear, Y/n.” Steve is quick to correct himself on his slip up. “You have to ace his course to get that internship.”
“You’re not gonna make it through the semester let alone get Pierce’s internship. Even if you keep going and going and going. Face it bunny, one of these things is not like the other, someday we’ll nominate supreme court justices and you’ll tan.” Your eyes begin to tear up at them both attacking you like this. “Run home Y/n and change out of your skank costume.”
“Oh, is that what you see Peggy, how unfortunate.” You hurry over to someone with glasses and take them from their face. “Because I am Gloria Steinem, circa 1963, researching for her feminist manifesto, I Was A Playboy Bunny. Are you actually calling Gloria Steinem a skank?”
“Who’s calling Gloria Steinem a skank?” Valkyrie comes into the conversation then beginning to fume.
“She is!” You point at Peggy and give the person back their glasses as Valkyrie makes her way towards the culprit. You make your escape from the party then and start to walk home, making it to a bench on the lawn before starting to cry.
Bucky passes by you in regular clothes not recognizing you but doing a double take after glancing at the outfit. “Wow, Y/n, what’s up, Doc?” He chuckles at his own joke and you just give him a funny look.
“Love.”
“Excuse me?”
“I put my faith in love, I followed where it led to my personal circle of hell.”
“Love led you here?”
“None of it has worked out well. And I wish that I were dead, cause instead of a wedding and love, I’m flunking out of school. And I’m someone that he and his friends just mock! So go on, here's my head just hit it with a rock!” You bow your head down, almost losing your ears doing so.
“Wait, go back. You came out here to follow some guy and Harvard was just part of that plan? What rich, romantic planet are you from.” He crosses his arms as he looks down at you.
“Malibu.”
“So instead of lying outside by the pool, you stalked some guy to an Ivy League school. That’s the weirdest reason I’ve ever heard.”
“Well why’d you come then?”
“Okay.” He sits down next to you while taking the jacket from around his waist and placing it on your shoulders. “I grew up in Brooklyn slums with my mom, my sister, and a series of bums. These guys that would show me all the ways a man can fail. I got through law school by busting my ass, I worked two jobs in addition to class. So you’ll have to forgive me for not weeping at your tale.”
“Well excuse me just because you’ve got a chip on your shoulder.”
“You’re right. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder that’s big as a boulder. With the chance I’ve been given I’m gonna be driven as hell. I’m so close that I can taste it, so I’m not gonna waste it. So yeah there’s a chip on my shoulder, you might want to get one as well.” He stands up and starts to walk away after patting your knee.
“Well that sounds highly negative.”
“I’m just being honest, when you aren’t born into privilege you gotta work twice as hard for what you want. I want that jacket back.”
“Wait!” You yell out for him and he stops and turns back to you. “Two jobs and law school, how did you do it?” You get up and meet him halfway.
“Well I didn’t go to parties a lot, it wasn't a good use of my time. Couldn’t spend hours doing my hair and staying in shape. I know it’ll all be worthwhile when I win my first lucrative trial and take care of my mom and sister.” You both start to walk towards your dorm building.
“That’s so sweet.”
“No, that’s the chip on my shoulder. I hugged my mom and told her with the chance I’ve been given I'm gonna be driven as hell. You need a chip on your shoulder.” He looks at the ears on your head and smirks while his eyes fall down to your face.
“No I don’t, I just need to prove to everyone that I’m serious.” You open the door to your room and turn to face Bucky after walking inside. “Make yourself at home.”
Bucky chuckles to himself while looking around your room. When his eyes land on your energy drinks he can’t help but poke fun at you. “You drink a lot of Monster don’t you?”
“It gives me energy!” You yell from your bathroom as you change out of your costume.
“For when you’re up late studying?”
“When I try to study, I’m not very good at it.”
“Well where are your law books?”
“They’re uh, under, um, there!” You snatch a dress off of your desk just to reveal a magazine that Bucky then picks up and raises an eyebrow at you for. “They’re here somewhere. I mainly use my notes.”
“You know this vanity is a real picture but it started as a desk. You should clear it off and find room for books instead.” He hands you a medium sized crate and starts to go through the things on your desk and throwing them in it. “Can you live without this, can you live without that? I don’t know what this is?” He holds up an extension for your hairdryer.
“It’[s for hair.”
“Wear a hat and spend some time improving what’s inside your head. Out, out, put it in storage, sell it on ebay, or leave it behind. What are you angry? Good, so get angry and you may find the chip on your shoulder!” You grunt in anger towards him as you all but throw the crate at him. “Ooh, the room just got colder. There’s no way around it, you’ve got to plow through til you-”
“Found it!” You proudly hold up one of the law books from the pile near your bed. With your luck though it was one you haven’t even unwrapped yet.
“You’ve been reading it hard I can tell.” Bucky unwraps it and hands it back to you.
“I just haven’t gotten around to that one.” You pluck it out of his hand and pick up the rest of your books before placing them on the desk Bucky cleared off. “Like I said before I normally just use my notes. I’m not the best at studying.”
“You should join a study group.” The suggestion is harmless and you know he was just trying to help but it stung. You sadly sigh and sit in your chair, resting your head in your hands.
“I tried that. I went and I tried to join one, just for them to say no, make fun of me, and embarrass me in front of everyone in the library. I don’t understand why everyone here is just so mean.” You didn’t mean to start having a breakdown but that didn’t stop the tears from coming.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. How about I help you study? We can be your own little study group.” Bucky crouches down next to you and starts to rub your back, calming you down a bit.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” Bucky’s heart clenches when you look up at him with your tear streaked face. “We’ll start tomorrow after your classes but for tonight get some sleep.”
***
Bucky has been helping you for a month and it’s helped you so much. Wanda even started to be a part of your small group sometimes. You couldn’t have asked for better friends. It was time for Thanksgiving break and everyone was getting ready to leave.
“Bye Steve, Happy Thanksgiving say hello to your mom and dad for me!” You yell out the door waving to him.
“What is this, my second, my third? I don’t know but I am loving it.” Bucky downs another Monster at your desk with his laptop open and getting some work done while asking you study questions here and there. It became a common occurrence that after some studying he would stick around for a bit. You enjoyed his presence. “Define malum prohibitum .”
“Um it’s..”
“An act prohibi-”
“An act prohibited by law like jay walking or chewing gum in Singapore!”
“Therefore malum in se?”
“Malum in se is an action that is evil in itself. Assault, murder, white shoes after labor day.” Bucky chuckles at the example while typing. Rocket jumps into his carrying bag and you go to put him on your shoulder when Bucky sees you.
“Where are you going?”
“Home of course, it’s Thanksgiving break remember?”
“Interesting.” He shuts his laptop and you hum in response. “I predict you’ll probably pass in the bottom percent of your class. If you’re going for mediocre you’ve done great.”
“What? That’s not fair.”
“Look they laughed at me like they’re laughing at you. We won’t win unless we follow through. Might I venture, your vacation plans can wait?” Bucky stands and walks in front of you with one of your books in his hand.
“Why do you always have to be right?” You take it from him while you both laugh. “Let me call everyone to tell them I’m not coming and we can get back to it.”
***
“Bye Steve, merry Christmas! Enjoy Vail!” You wave to him getting a wave back as he heads to Peggy’s room. You’re gonna miss seeing everyone over break but the outcome after all this studying will be worth it.
“Y/n, focus!” Wanda gets your attention from your bed, notecards in her hands. “Now, the case of Russel versus Sullivan?”
“Determined that Russel was legally the child's father even though he was just a sperm donor.”
“Gold star!” Wanda stands up and embraces you in a hug excited that you finally got it right. That one had been throwing you off for a while.
“Ho! Ho! Ho!” Bucky enters the room with his hand behind his back.
“Bucky!”
“Hi Y/n, Wanda.” He nods respectively at Wanda before turning all his attention onto you. “Ah, for you.” He holds out a wrapped present. “It’s not as good as going home for Christmas but I wanted to make sure you still got something.”
“You are too sweet. I thought we all agreed no presents though?”
“Oh would you just open it!” Wanda seems more excited than you are about it. You take the wrapping off to reveal a shampoo bottle.
“It’s a real time saver shampoo and conditioner in one.” You and Wanda both do a little scream of joy at it.
“Hair care? Where do I find a guy like you? I’ll just leave you two alone, I’ll see you later Y/n!” And with that Wanda walked through the door.
“You are so adorable to think of me!” You pull Bucky into a tight hug before jumping apart when Steve comes into the room.
“Have you seen Peggy? I can’t find her anywhere.”
“Uh, no.”
“Great, we're gonna miss our flight.” Bucky then leaves, sending a small glare at Bucky who just gives him a small wave.
“Um, Y/n. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but each time Steve’s around your IQ drops down to forty, maybe less.”
“Huh?”
“Though it’s hardly my business to say, could it be the real thing in your way is the man you’re trying to impress?” A look of realization washes over your face at his words.
“Yes. I’ve been smiling and sweet and thoroughly beaten, throwing my chance. Let’s not chase him away, let’s face him and say hey punk, let’s dance! This chip on my shoulder will make me smarter and bolder. No more whining or blaming I’m gonna reclaim my pride. Grab that book and let’s do this, instead of doodling hearts all through this!” Bucky gets to work setting up to help you study and you rip a page out of your notebook that had hearts all over it. “Now there’s a chip on my shoulder! Let’s see him knock it aside.” You and Bucky do your handshake and get to work studying.
***
“Yeah but Mr. Latimer wasn’t stalking. He was clearly within his rights to ask for visitation, Russel versus Sullivan.” Steve answers Mr.s Peirce and you scrunch up your nose.
“Yes but Russel was known to the mother, Latimer was an anonymous donor.”
“Well ya but without his sperm, the child in question wouldn’t exist.”
“Now you’re thinking like a lawyer!” The class applauds him but it just sounds wrong to you. Your hand goes up without double thinking it. “Yes Ms. Y/l/n?”
“Mr. Rogers makes an excellent point but did the defendant keep a log of every sperm emission made throughout his life?” The class chuckles at you a bit.
“Interesting. Why do you ask?”
“Well, unless the defendant attempted to contact every sexual encounter to determine if a child resulted in those unions, he has no parental claim over this child whatsoever. Why now? Why this sperm?”
“I see your point.” “And by Mr. Rogers standards all masturbatory emissions where his sperm was clearly not seeking an egg could be called reckless abandonment.”
“I believe you just won your case.” In front of you Steve and Peggy gasp not expecting that. You can’t help but smile to yourself for the win. Bucky can’t help how his heart swells up with pride or the big smile he shoots your way. “Class dismissed. Ms. Y/l/n excellent work today. I assume you’re applying for my internship? Do you have a resume?” Over his shoulder you see Bucky with a smile on his face.
“I am one step ahead of you, here you go.” You pull it out of your bag and hand it to him.
“It’s pink.”
“Oh, and it’s scented. I think it gives it a little something extra, don’t you think? Okay well, see you next class and thanks in advance for your consideration.” You walk out of the room leaving Pierce and Bucky alone.
“You know, three months ago I would’ve recycled this. Make sure to put it on file.” Pierce hands the resume to Bucky before walking out himself. Bucky thinks to himself how you were something to see today and he was just happy that he could be there. He smells the paper while smiling to himself and shaking his head and walks out to do what Pierce had said.

60. Part 2
Tumblr media
I understand Maurice’ dislike for Leon but it’s a bit too much, even making him cry about it. I am a little annoyed at him for it and instead of feeling annoyed about this all day and throughout the flight, I will bring it up. He is currently upstairs on his phone; he is literally working from home when this is our time. He knows we are always busy in New York “mom, I will be back down. We can leave then, guys. Won’t be long” I said to Jay and Matt “as long as you ain’t going up there for sex now” Jay said, he is so cheeky “it won’t be” making my way up the steps “Reign, no you don’t” looking behind me “baby I will be back, stay there” this girl wants to climb the stairs now “I am coming down” Maurice said “well I am coming up and I would like to speak to you please” Maurice turned back on himself and went into the bedroom, this is not an argument at all just a disagreement on a situation. Opening the bedroom door “and why did you close the door?” Maurice grinned “because we can have sex” pointing at him “you are so predictable but no, I want to discuss something, and I think we are grown enough to discuss this don’t you think?” Maurice sat on the edge of the bed “did you make the bed?” I pointed at the bed, I am shocked “I did, thought you was busy downstairs with Reign and did it. Nothing big, I mean I hope I did it right” that is so cute “but you never do things like that?” I am in awe “I watch you; I always watch you do things Robyn” that is the sweetest thing ever “Maurice, I am literally so happy. I mean ok it is just a bed but still, baby!” I yelped out “it’s nothing big but tell what is wrong?” Now I am stuck on the fact my husband made the damn bed, I am so happy “so uhm I just wanted to discuss you working, just that all of this working it not it. This time was supposed to be about us, spending time together because in New York we are always busy. I just thought I would share my annoyance” Maurice is laughing, and I don’t find anything funny “you are cute, I am yours. I just had to deal with that. I am done now, sorry” he held his hands up, I just can’t be mad at him now he made the stupid bed.
I scoffed “I also have another thing, please stop being so harsh on Leon now. Please!” I pleaded with him “he is sorry, he has messed up, and he knows it Maurice. He will be with me for the wedding, you should be glad I didn’t bring him along for this, he is right. He never did us wrong by selling stories, he does love us, and he appreciates what you did for him so for me please” clasping my hands together “I just don’t like that he cried, you can be so stern at times. He did not mean to do it, he is sorry about it” Maurice sighed out “I don’t care anymore about him, I am over it now. But the bond we had; it won’t be there so when I said it will take time I mean that. If he is around I will say hi, that is it, but I won’t be rude to him. I have Shawn to hate, he is just driving me crazy. I have no best man now, so I got that to worry about” poking my lips out at him, he is really sad about that “I understand, I know you must be very upset because I was so hurt about Leon acting funny with me so I get why you feel that way about Shawn. I think with you and him, you both need to talk it out, but he needs to step up as a man to your sister before you can forgive. For the baby at least” Maurice shook his head “Robyn he was using me for my former drug and whore place, I can’t forgive that. I just really can’t Robyn, he wanted bad for me. I mean ok I am fine, what if he took me and I relapsed because that can happen, it’s bullshit and I am angry at him for that” Maurice is right “you have a good heart but I can’t fuck with that, I was a hardcore addict. Taking me there is awful, it’s like he didn’t care for you, my daughter. I mean I can control myself but as you know I can just end up being that person” nodding my head “I understand Maurice, but you and Jay Z are very close, I mean then again I don’t have any bridesmaids. My mother is walking me down the aisle, so I guess we equal baby. We have each other don’t we?” Maurice nodded his head “we do, and that is the best gift Bonita” I cooed out as I clapped and did a little run to Maurice, sitting on his lap “I mean it sounds like hell to you but we have each other forever” kissing his check “we have also Jell-O, and Reign. I mean that is all I need” Maurice is so damn adorable, I love him.
Reign is a pain, I mean it is my mini me but she is doing the most “we might have to get you your own bodyguard little lady” Jay said, Reign wanting to walk all by herself to the jet like we have all the time in the world “Reign, no!” Reign was about to grab something from the floor “come on” grabbing her hand “let mommy walk with you” feeling a tug as Reign decided to sit down on the floor “Reign, honestly. It’s dangerous you doing this” letting her hand go, watching her get back up and proceeding to walk towards the jet but at her own pace “she ain’t listening at all today little stink, you out here being your own boss” rolling my eyes, my mom and Maurice literally left me knowing full well this girl will be doing the most “fine” picking Reign up instead “this is not the damn catwalk nobody has the time for this” Reign is having a full blown fit that I did this, she screamed out crying. Climbing up the steps of the jet with this crying ass child “go and tell your dad how upset you are” placing her down as I reached the top, Reign did what I just said. She is screaming crying down the jet “Mi Amor, what happened?” Maurice is always there ever so concerned; he spoils that child so much and she knows it.
Reign is sat on Maurice’ lap while eating strawberries, I am jealous because I want to sit on his lap eating fruit “would you like anymore?” The flight attendant asked Reign and she nodded her head “uh no, no more” She has enough I quickly answered before they did it “thank you though” I smiled at her, the flight attendant walked off “Reign is acting like I didn’t just feed her, which I did” Reign picked out a watermelon and then reached up to feed Maurice, I swear that makes me so happy to see “thank you baby” he ate it, that is the cutest “she is growing so fast Robbie, I feel like everyday she is just growing and she is learning something new. My second love, you are my first Robbie and she is my second” Maurice kissed the top of Reign’ head “well you will be able to see that Terry, you are going to move in with us right?” looking at my mom, my mom looked at Maurice all wide eyed “you can’t be still decided Terry?” Maurice is right, she can’t be just thinking no “but it’s like I am in the way, that is your home” I was going to say something but Maurice did “no, I know plenty of people that have their mother in laws live with them. Don’t ever think that, I want you with us. The home is so big we may never see each other sometimes but I promise you, live with us I want you too” my mom looked at me “please” I said smiling “but then I am living off you, it’s not right” frowning at her “stop it, I don’t want to hear it” I don’t want to hear that shit from my mother “we don’t think that of you so don’t” she knows this.
I do love staring at Maurice in awe and it is because how of how good he is with Reign, he is a good father. I know his heart and I was never angry at him helping his mother, he has a good heart and I expected that from him “I do hope this baby is a boy, I just think it would be perfect for us. But you know what, even if it is a boy I don’t think it would change much” Maurice laughed “Reign has taken the biggest spot in my heart, she is just the best. She feeds me too, she’s better then Robyn anyways” rolling my eyes at Maurice “she is me thank you, she is just trying to bulk you up like I been saying” pointing at him laughing, Maurice reached over and grabbed my finger “you lied, you said you love my skinny self? Wow, you backtrack and lie a lot” trying to suppress my smile “I think we got issues here, you only want me for my money” trying to yank my hand away from his grip “don’t say that!” I spat “you have a big dick” I added “Robbie!” my mother spat “I am sorry mother, it is him” Maurice let my hand go as he laughed, he is laughing because now I had to say that in front of my mother “you are so annoying” I said side eyeing him “I think I want to stay in Cali” I groaned out now my mom has said that “please don’t say that now, Maurice will change. This was all on him, he keeps trying me about his skinny self and whines that I say it when I am joking” I chuckled, this was all his fault in the first place “but Terry, am I wrong for her saying that? If I told Robyn she snores, she gets offended. Look how annoyed she is and just to add, she does snore” he pointed, hitting his finger “I don’t, that is a lie. I don’t snore!” I spat “how do you know you don’t? Do you hear yourself? Baby it is ok, I love you for you and the light snores you give off, it’s soothing” now he has annoyed me “you kids are going to age me so much, I need to think long and hard about this” he is so annoying.
My phone pinged on the table and then hearing a little chuckle, looking at Maurice before picking my phone up from the table “oh no, listen if it’s a stupid thing you have done now” unlocking my phone and opening my message, seeing the video. Glaring at Maurice “baby it is beautiful, just watch” I am going to kill him “I literally want to jump over this table and kick you” my mother touched my shoulder “let’s see” my mom said, opening the video and pressing play. I am not happy “oh my god, Maurice. Why did you record me sleeping, I look awful. Wow, I look so terrible asleep” pulling a face at the phone as the camera turned to him “I can’t sleep, usually her snores are light and I enjoy them because I know she is there even when we are not touching. But she is not well today” Maurice said on the video as he turned in the bed to face me, I poked my bottom lip out as he checked my forehead with the back of his hand and then pressed a kiss to my nose “we going to try and sleep, it will happen” the video cut off “see” he laughed “I like it, I say it to annoy you but that day you was not well and we argued that day and I was like what if we spilt because I get on your nerves and then I need memories, but you was bring grumpy because you wasn’t well” I scoffed “you are so annoyingly cute, I hate it. Now I can’t be angry” my mom pushed me with her hand lightly “you both make me sick, too much love” my mother joked “it’s him!” I spat “it’s the both of you actually” my mom corrected me.
I am so glad to have landed already, I mean the flight was short, but I felt agitated, wait till the long haul flight comes alone, this was an hour. Stretching my body out as I stood up “no!” I put my hand in his face “what!? Why” Maurice spat but he still hugged me “you know what, I would love to be angry at you because that video is cute. I am now wondering what other shit you got on there” he is very annoying “loads, I mean I found it again when I downloaded my cloud backup on to my phone, I was like damn. I am so in love” I laughed, he just realised this “you are stupid in love with me, but the video is cute. I mean it is romantic at the same time because you like to hear me close, ugh!” I swear I want to be mad; Maurice attacked my neck with kisses “but imagine if you had big bulky arms” I laughed saying “I think you like to annoy me, it’s ok now. I know your game” moving my head back as Maurice pecked my lips “I love you Bonita” I just melt in his arms “I love you more pootie” I love that he is always so emotional with me.
Looking out of the SUV window, there is a lot of greenery where we are “it’s pretty out here” I mumbled saying, it seems so peaceful and I like this “I did mention to my dad that I want it to be smaller, he might have changed where we going” the SUV slowed down to turn off “we getting married in a vineyard? This is very country, pretty though. Unless your dad is bringing us here to murder us and steal Reign?” looking over at Reign “wow Robyn, that was intense. But that sounds perfect for my dad, he would do that” Maurice said which adds to my doubts about him “mhmm, well I will tell him I have baby on board so take Maurice” I laughed pointing it out “you are something else, selling me out like that. I can’t wait to go away with you, it’s going to be so good” the SUV stopped “awww you love me that much” I cooed out “I have no choice now, I am marrying you” he is just playing “I guess this is it, watch how my dad acts like everything is ok and nothing has happened or changed” that sounds about right with Marquis “wow, my uncle out here too. This is weird, ok Robyn they about to kill us” hitting his arm “don’t say that to me, I want you to not say that” got me scared now.
Jay held my hand as I got out of the SUV “hello, hello. You all arrived safely” Marquis said “we did” I said stepping back “why is Freeman here? I mean this is not his day” Maurice jumped out of the SUV saying “well my brother and I are going away for a while after this, that is all” Maurice laughed “oh right, brothers unite now? Oh ok, listen right. You ain’t invited to my wedding, I am telling you now I don’t want you here. Either that or you trying to get some money out of this nigga that is dying” touching Maurice’ arm “let’s leave it now” I don’t want the drama “you’re upset still Maurice, I get it. Listen to Robyn, she has a good mind on her. So” Marquis is a demon, my god “nah, I will listen to Robyn because I love her not because you said it” I don’t wish to be between these “but you are going to do as you’re told right? Maurice, let it go! Please, listen to me on this. I love you and I want the best for you. Freeman and I are just getting away for a while and then coming back, mhmm. How is the bitch of a mother?” he is quick to turn shit “oh my god, my angel. Look at her, Freeman. She is the apple of my eye, watch her. Hey Angel face, awwww you come to me” Reign’ happy self just making her to Marquis “hold this for me” Maurice turned to me “let it happen, for me. The thing you know is that he will die soon, just let him have his time with Reign, this our day. Ok?” Maurice nodded his head “beautiful family Maurice” his uncle said “fuck you” Maurice retorted “Maurice, come on now. You are better then that” my mother came up from behind with the stroller “niggas get on my nerves” Maurice huffed as he walked off, my mom just looked at me but I will give him space, Matt barged by Jay and ran after him.
Reign is really into Marquis; it’s sickening at times “has my spoilt son ran off again?” Marquis said, it didn’t seem like he wanted too but he looked away from Reign, that is really his angel in his eyes “I think he doesn’t like how you speak to him Marquis, he is still upset” I answered, nobody else is going too “If you wasn’t in his life he would be still that confused boy I know, you control him, you fuel him. You are his backbone and I know that, he has bright ideas and has done well but he is stupid in many ways” frowning at him “no, he was set up by your family and by you. This was your mess, but he has to take it, he has a heart and while I am here I am not having people take advantage of that. I think you need to put some respect on his name, if it wasn’t for you I will be in Hilton hotels” turning on my heels “I will be back” let me go and see where Maurice is, he needs to not let his dad get to him. He laughs because he knows that it gets to him. Turning the corner, seeing Maurice pacing and ranting to Matt, poor guy but here he is smoking. I sighed out, making my way over to them. Maurice is incredibly angry “Maurice, stop it please. Stop this, stop the anger. Your dad wants this, he wants you angry. He knows you he has affected you so please” Maurice flicked his cigarette to the ground “I am calm but he is laughing in my face” nodding my head “I know he is, he sees you as a child. You need to just show him you’re not that” Maurice clenched his jaw “that I just hide behind you” he added “and I will never let anyone fuck with you, I got you Maurice” he is very temperamental.
I did think this place was too country but like when I come to think of it, this is actually so perfect. With all the rich people around and will want privacy, this is perfect. It’s in the middle of nowhere but yet it is so beautiful “so we cater to up to a thousand guests if that is what you want?” looking at Maurice “uh no, the max will be two hundred. Not even that, I am keeping it small. You know what Sienna; I really love it. Like I can see it now, at first I was like ok marriage and I didn’t imagine how it would plan out, I leave that to others but being out here. Seeing the outdoor Arbor, the water feature and the vineyard scene at the back, I can imagine the pictures. It’s just perfect you know, I will be sweating out here though” Maurice laughed “that just shows that this place is for you, we have two rooms, ballroom or dining room which is smaller” walking behind the lady “I want ballroom, I want just the whole grand theme going on. Because we have a ballroom in the home in Texas, I always imagined it to be with the person I want to marry and be with so keep the ballroom, it will still be busy” she nodded her head “follow me to the ballroom, you see how yourself and the guests will be able to flow seamless to the ballroom. What people love about this place is how they can have privacy and stay here in the spa resort hotel, exclusive just to the wedding guests. We don’t have nobody else here, just yourselves” I can only imagine how expensive this is but it is on Marquis’ dime so let’s go all out.
Biting on my nail feeling a little nervous now, now that it’s coming a reality to me I feel a little nervous. I say it all the time about being his wife but now it will be official “what are you doing?” I said laughing “nothing, just imagining our first dance” he grabbed my hand without my consent and turned me around before hugging me “see what I mean, I am the dancers in this relationship” Maurice pressed a kiss to my neck “stop it” moving back from him, looking to the side of me at Reign. She is running the whole length of this ballroom, she is crazy. She thinks it’s a game but Marquis is too engrossed with Reign that he is not paying attention to what we doing here, bringing my attention back to Maurice “so we have like big deal people coming, princes, billionaires. I just want to know that this place and it’s workers will keep that enclosed, like my marriage to Robyn it needs to be on the low. Not because I am ashamed or anything but it’s our time so whatever you need to do extra do it, if we having these high profile people stay here in one place, it needs to be above 5 stars so what I want is extra security around here too, I mean they bring their own but we need more and whatever they want I know you can cater to their needs. I suppose I like the idea that the rooms are not basic, they done up to the nines and everything. But it’s the first time ever knowing of this place” I am so quiet and I don’t know, I suppose I am just trying to digest it “well that is fine, I spoke to your dad and he did bring that up also. We have the scheme actually under wraps, he said that was a surprise, but you wanted to see the venue” she seems so nice this lady “I am impressed, thank you. It’s really got me excited now” Maurice is very excited; it is cute to see that from him.
