The first time that you called Tobio “baby,” he locked up as if you had insulted him. His hand, which you were used to seeing hitting effortless jump serves, setting quicks to Hinata, and generally being the dependable watchtower of Karasuno’s volleyball team, froze on your waist as if he had forgotten how to move his body.

His severe and intense gaze locked on yours as if he were attempting to solve a puzzle—as if he couldn’t believe that you had called him something so sweet and intimate. He gave you a curt nod as he dropped you off at your place, his hand lingering on your waist as he bid you goodnight and your name coming out softer than he intended.

He’d never admit it to anyone, but that night, he felt something stir deep inside his chest, unlike anything he’d ever felt. It wasn’t the same adrenaline he got from playing against hard teams, nor was it the same joy he felt when Karasuno proved victorious over other teams after hard-fought matches.

No, this, you, was different— something simultaneously died and was reborn inside of him when you called him “baby” that night, unlocking an emotion he never entirely understood when he heard others talk about it, but, in your presence, he understood it as if it were a practiced play.

You never pushed him to say it back, satisfied with relishing each time he said your name softly between sweet kisses or tender hugs. You weren’t here to change him. After all, you fell in love with Tobio because of how he is, not out of an aspiration to change him into anyone else. He just didn’t like to use pet names with you, you assumed, and didn’t push him for anything he wasn’t happy to give you.

So it’s safe to say that you didn’t see today coming. At first, you weren’t even really sure what he’d said. Tobio has a habit of mumbling, especially when coming down from the high of a hard match, so you could only make out bits and pieces of his greeting. You were too busy savouring how he held you as you jumped into his arms, congratulating him for a great match and winning against Karasuno’s opponent.

He gave you a tender smile, a rare sight for other people but a mainstay in your relationship, before giving you a soft kiss as he set you down gently. He had murmured your name, that’s for sure, but you couldn’t quite make it all out until you saw the look on the team’s face. Hinata’s and Tanaka’s faces, in particular, urged you to ask him as you gave Tobio a quizzical look.

“Sorry, what did you say, honey? I didn’t quite catch it,” You say, cocking your head softly to the side as his brows knit together, and a blush paints his cheeks at the name you called him.

“I.. didn’t say anything, I just said thank you—” he starts to say, his hand still resting easily on your waist, before he’s interrupted by Tanaka and Hinata running over to hug him, cooing about their friend’s heart finally growing three sizes.

“Wrong!” Tanaka yells as he hugs Tobio, circling his neck with one arm and patting his head with his other hand. “You totally just said ‘baby’! Who knew you had that sweetness inside you, Kageyama!” He teases as Hinata joins in.

“Yeah! You even said it all nice and stuff!” he adds, laughing with his senior as they mimic Tobio’s voice and cadence. “You were all like, ‘Hi, baby! Thanks so much, baby. I’m so happy you were here to watch! Mwah, mwah!!’” Both burst into laughter as they watched Tobio’s glare, waving off his muttered threat of a gruelling time next practice for them as they strode away.

The rest of the team lays off teasing him as they start walking to the locker room, but only after his seniors get their digs in. Azumane and Sugawara give him broad smiles with their thumbs up as they pass the two of you, and Tobio’s blush deepens.

“S-Sorry about them,” he says sheepishly, touching the back of his neck. "I guess it slipped out, and I’m sorry if that made you uncomfortable.” He apologizes genuinely as he looks into your eyes, hoping that his team didn’t scare you off.

You chuckle, circling your arms around his neck as you bring him down for a long kiss. “Don’t worry about it, baby,” you say, relishing the way he softens under the name, his features relaxing as he smiles against you. “You can pay me back by saying it to me so that I actually hear you this time,” you whisper, teasing him but also wanting to hear it clearly so you can store it in your memory.

He leans in close, the two of you the final people on the court as his team filters out completely, and he presses a tender kiss against your forehead. He chuckles softly at your request, an attempt to wave you off, but the glint in his eye tells you that he’s about to indulge you anyway, “Alright, alright.”

He gives you a slow, deep kiss, savouring the heat of your lips against his— a sensation he swears he will never get used to. It always sends that electric jolt throughout his body better than any perfect set or victory. He pulls back, soothing your hair and smiling, “Thank you for coming today, baby. I think I play better when I know you’re watching me.”

He presses a chaste kiss against your lips, “You’re like.. a guardian angel, baby. Did you know that? Maybe I should start calling you angel instead, hm?” He says against you, and his sudden shift in demeanour causes you to shiver.

You nod, running your hand through the hair on the nape of his neck. “I think that’d be great, baby,” You whisper, a blush painting your cheeks as the thought of him calling you “angel” crosses your mind.

“Is that so? Alright, ang—”

He’s cut short by Daichi’s voice ringing clearly in the empty gym as he opens the metal gym door, searching for Tobio. “Kageyama! Meeting!” He yells out from across the gym.

Tobio sighs, pulling away from you only slightly as he nods to his captain. “Okay, I’ll be there in a minute!”

“Now, Kageyama, we already waited five minutes for you. Let’s go!” Daichi calls, the heavy slam of the doors signalling his impatience.

Tobio leans in close, “Another time, baby.” He kisses your forehead as he starts to walk towards their locker room.

The door swings open again. “Kageyama, c’mon! Or do you want me to call you baby, too?” Daichi teases as he waits for Tobio at the door, watching him run up to his captain, apologizing half-heartedly for his tardiness.

You laugh as he teases him, knowing that Tobio’s doing his best not to glare at Daichi. You laugh even harder when you hear their bickering.

“None of you are allowed to call me baby! That’s special, and I’m not about to let you dumbasses ruin that name for me!”

“Alright, we’ll call you King again, how’s that sound?”

You shake your head as you gather your things, knowing that this teasing from the team is far from over as you make your way to wait outside their locker room— giddy at the idea of hearing him call you baby again.

a/n: lol hello, I honestly just come here when I am knees deep in uni shit and I should be writing a paper rn but I am writing this heh. hope you all are happy and healthy, and wishing you a lovely month of May soon!

KAGEYAMA TOBIO

y'all know our boy is dead tired after practice and needed much persuading to finish practice, let alone come home. he only wishes to jump in the shower, eat a hearty meal, lay down in bed, and not move. most of the time he does forget to text you once he's back home, but it's mostly because he's dead tired and wants to chill. he'd be super confused and apologetic at the same time if you were disappointed and/or anxious if he didn't text you that he was home.

if you two don't live together, I imagine him finishing his post-practice routines and then laying down in bed with his washed hair wetting the pillow while he waits for you to video call him. I don't think he'd be the one to initiate a conversation first, especially when he is one minute away from falling asleep, but he does admit that hearing your voice before bed is the best thing ever. while on call, you would do most of the talking, while he nods and occasionally chuckles in amusement, until ultimately dozing off while on call. make sure to take a lot of screenshots of that face because he can either have the most peaceful look on his face and you just have to have that angelic face in your gallery; or he can have the most ridiculous type of face on, with a lil drool, some snoring happening...

if you two do live together, you'd be greeted with a sweaty body just dropping its total weight on you because he's just so tired and also wants to annoy you with him being all sweaty and smelly on you. it's difficult to actually get him to move, especially because he gets rather comfortable in such a position. when you finally get him off, he goes off to shower and spends so much time there you're pretty sure he falls asleep there. he asks you to prepare a hot cup of milk for him once he gets out. you'd get such a gentle kiss on your cheek or lips because he is already dozing off and it'd be such an adorable sight, especially with his freshly washed and dried hair tickling the softness of your cheek and the smell of his body wash enveloping the both of you.

ngl, he would easily fall asleep without you in bed because he's just dead tired lol

AKAASHI KEIJI

he never forgets to call and/or text you once he's done and out of the gym because he knows you'd be worried otherwise. if you live together, he makes sure to ask you if you need anything from the convenience store and also asks you to prepare a hot cup of tea for him (for the two of you if you are also a tea drinker). even if you say you don't need anything from the store, he stops by and buys your favorite snacks and some of his own. i do think his favorite thing to do post-practice is to sit down on the couch with you and talk about your day. i do headcanon him to have a sweet tooth, so he is enjoying that cup of tea with some crackers or cookies and definitely enjoys hearing some of your tea ngl.

even though he is super tired, he cannot fall asleep without you beside him. he finds it interesting how dependent he has become on you, especially if you have moved in together recently. if he is not super tired, he'd move to the bed with a book by his side and read until you're finished with your evening routine and lie down. if he is exhausted, then he forgoes the book, he then lays down and toys with your pillowcase so he doesn't fall asleep. if you take long he definitely closes his eyes and then jolts awake once you get in bed, but he only pulls you closer, kisses you, and falls asleep.

akaashi who does not live with you is fairly similar. while walking back to his house, he'd call you and chat with you until he arrives. you'd end the call while he finishes his shower (maybe not) and dinner, and he'd call you right back once he's done. he then sits down in bed with a cup of tea and a cookie or two on his bedside table, his phone in an active call with you. he may be tired but makes sure to listen to you intently, and when he is almost falling asleep, he apologizes for not paying more attention to you (because he's such a sweetheart like that ngl) and then gives you one of those air kisses before turning around and ultimately falling asleep.

OIKAWA TOORU

he ALWAYS calls you when he's done with practice because this guy has tea to spill from the day. he is so enthusiastic and vibrant that you would think he went out for a cup of coffee and not coming back from volleyball practice. legend says (aka iwaizumi) that he is a part of the Walking Dead in the locker room but always puts on the best version of himself when you're around. when he's finally at the front of his house, he makes sure to be as quiet as possible so he doesn't wake his family up and then says he'll call you once he's in bed.

now, Oikawa does sometimes fall asleep without showering or anything which is definitely a shocking statement for someone as tidy and clean as Oikawa, I can easily imagine him just face-planting on his bed and saying he'd get up in 5 minutes and just falling asleep lol. however, that's a rare occasion and also he'd wake up once you text/call him anyway. you will be on a video call while he's doing his skincare routine because he needs to show you that soft-ass skin and all his products.

oikawa who lives with you is very much needy once he's back home. he wants a hug as soon as he's home because he misses you so much and he'd like to have dinner together with you. i don't think he's the best cook out there, but he knows how to prepare some bomb-ass meals for pre-/post-workouts. of course, if you're not up for that he can stomach a cup of ramen. the night is not complete without him spilling the tea on every mishap that happened during practice and also inquiring about your day. he falls asleep on the couch and spills whatever food he's holding in his hands. this leads to him startling awake and screaming at the mess he's made...it's never a dull moment with this guy.

Pairing(s): Shigeo Kageyama x Gn!Reader

He’s so cute

And really really awkward, almost painfully so

I mean when he first confesses to you it was done two ways

The first was after being continuously hyped by dimple, reigen, and his brother so he decides to buy a bouquet of flowers and go from there

That or it was all spontaneous and you had accidently confessed to him, it was all overwhelming for him and he almost went to ???

But you quickly comforted him and reassured him of how u really felt (although a downside was having to say the truth of your embarrassing feelings)

You were most likely friends with mob or were similar to teruhashi

I’ll go with the first route to start

Since the two of you were friends, he probably had never thought of liking you in that way

Until he did

In this scenario you’d have to be an esper along with mob since you’d have to be close enough to work alongside him with reigen

Anyway, because you’re both esters (especially if you’re a powerful one) then he’d feel really connected to you

I mean, you’re one of the few people who could possibly understand how he feels

If you’re one of the popular kids and are constantly getting love letters then he’d look at you from afar

He really admires and likes you so once you guys get together in this scenario he’s more than pumped and obviously ends up telling anyone he can

More into the relationship hcs-

He’s really cute, which is more than obvious

He’s pretty awkward and if you’d wanna ask him anything you’ll have to give him a few seconds before he manages to say anything

He’s pretty slow on hand holding too

If you were to ever hold his hand he’d have to let go instantly before his powers make it a negative memory

He’ll even go to reigen and his brother for help with gifts and advice too

Anyway, you’ll probably watch a movie and when you feel mob lean on you you decide to just lay him down and go to bed which ends in the two of you cuddling

Of course dimple had to be there for “supervision “ he says

But anyway when you decide to hold mob in your arms you feel him moving and starts mumbling incoherently

Then he gets up abruptly and totally freaks out when he realizes how close you two were

He gets teased endlessly by dimple 😭

Now, speaking of ritsu

He’s really supportive of mobs relationship with you, he was just a lil worried about the confession if he’s gonna be real

He was more worried that you wouldn’t like mob back and even worse, how he’d react

So when the two of you start going out he’s really happy for his older brother

And surprisingly, he thinks good of you before you even meet

(Surprisingly because of how emo he is)

If you ever get in a situation where you can’t defend yourself then he’ll definitely be there

He’d go “???” And go absolute ham on whoever hurt you

He gets seriously upset that he became that way infront of you and needs serious reassurance from you

Eventually you’re introduced to ritsu and it’s goes as best as it could

It’s pretty awkward but atleast ritsu thinks ur good enough lmao

Haikyuu sleeping headcannons

I've only done a few but let me know if you want me to do any other characters. Whether it be from haikyuu or from somewhere else.

Asahi

I feel like this guy would be warm. Not like the melting you from the outside inwards but like a campfire or a fireplace. He wouldn't move if you were with him, he wouldn't dare. He'd hold you tightly but he'd be so careful. Definitely panicked the first time you guys cuddled or fell asleep together. But once he got used to it he turned into a big cuddle bear.

Daichi

To me he seems like he'd sleep like a rock. After such a tiring day with the team he'd just flop onto the bed next to you and not move, like seriously you've probably had to poke him to check he was still alive.

He'd have and arm around you or he'd be leaning on you, either way once this man is asleep it's gonna be a pain to get out. why would you want to anyways?

Hinata

We all know that he's a ray of sunshine in both optimism and energy. cuddling/sleeping with him can go one of two ways

Since he's hyperactive this could carry on into his sleep. He's definitely smacked you a few times thinking you were a volleyball in his dream. Maybe even stolen the blanket a few times. He obviously apologies if you tell him in the morning

OR. He could be all tuckered out, kinda like a sugar crash but instead of a grumpy child you get a droopy hinata (almost the same thing) coming towards you with open arms, dragging you to bed or just leaning on you right then and there if he's really exhausted. He'd definitely use you as a giant pillow and just bury his face anywhere he can. neck? no problem. chest, whether it be flat or with melons? sure he can.

Kageyama

He may not seem it with his resting bitch face but he's definitely a cuddler. He'd definitely be more like daichi, calm and barely moving, unless it was to make you mire comfortable, but let's be honest he probably dreams about volleyball just like hinata and once again...you have been mistaken for a volleyball. Prepare for a bruise.

Im leaning towards him being a big spoon but maybe if he had a bad game or practice he'd want to be comforted, but either way his arms will be around you.

Nishinoya

This man is definitely a blanket theif. Just like hinata, he's a ball of energy and moves SO much while sleeping, not only does his arms flail about but theres a few kung fu moves going on there with his legs. You've definitely woken up with bruises and a leg across your chest while he sleeps like an angel.

If there is a rare occasion where he's not moving he's clinging onto you like a koala, legs around your waist or legs, arms around your torso and head on either your stomach or chest.

Tsukishima

This salty little shit probably isn't very keen on cuddles, but just for you. He'd have an arm around you loosely, maybe even pulling you closer while he's asleep. I feel like he'd be pretty cold (not just in attitude) so he'd be a great icepack for the summer but during winter you'll have to cocoon yourself in a blanket before cuddling up to him. Once you're asleep he's probably secretly affectionate, a few soft head pats while you're completely off in dream land.

Tobio doesn’t always demand your attention.

9 times out of 10, he’s completely self sufficient, being the supplier to affections you need, rather than demanding yours.

And sure, he’s not made of stone, holding your hand is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Kissing you on the cheek while you look over the takeout menu is exactly what the doctor orders.

But sometimes? The 1 time out of 10?

You really just wanna make him work for it.

You’ll always give him the luxury of never having to plead for you attention, and you indulge him in your affections without making him writhe.

Today. Today? Today is not one of those days.

Because today, even though he’s had this plan with Ushijima for the past three weeks to hang out and practice just the two of them, you woke up overly playful.

You wanted to make him squirm juuuuust a hair.

He seemed mindless to it, not thinking twice about the way you duck from his holds or reach away from his hand. It's alright. You've got all the time in the world to annoy him before and after he hangs out with his friend.

But, not-so surprisingly, it comes to a head when you're avoiding his kisses goodbye. This, he's forced to notice, when you turn your head just slightly when he leans over to kiss before he leaves.

His lips get a mouthful of forehead.

Pouting, he pulls back at you with a glare of betrayal, brows furrowed slightly. You snort softly, “what’re you lookin’ at?”

“Why’d you turn your head?” He grumbles, tightening his grip on your hips. Then, his brows shoot up, “is it my breath?” He uses on of his hands to huff and sniff his breath, but he seems to be confused when the smell is normal. “Why didn’t you want to kiss me?”

“What do you mean?” You hum, your arms looping around his neck. “Of course I want to kiss you. I always want to kiss you.”

He looks at you, suspicious, but he does lean down to try and kiss you again, whining out in annoyance when his lips press to your eyebrow. “Come on!”

“What!”

“I want a kiss!” He grumbles, fingers slipping into the waistband of your pants and gently tugging you closer, his refusal to leave without a kiss evident. “Is this because I’m hanging out with Ushijima today? Because I can cancel, I know he’d be just fine with it-“

“Why do you think that? And why would I mind that you’re hanging out with Ushijima? I like Ushijima.”

“I don’t know, you ask your lips!” He snaps, and just as you go to open your mouth to speak, he tugs you closer again, this time, catching you in a dominating kiss that has you giggling into his mouth. His hands come up to cup your cheeks, keeping you close as your teeth start to clack against each other from your laughter and his determination.

“Tobio!” You manage to squeak out, finally parting from him with a dopey smile. Your fingers hook in the collar of his shirt, and he uses one of his free hands to wipe your bottom lip.

“You play around too much,” he murmurs, voice in a rasp from the prior affection. “Why can’t you just love me?”

“EXCUSE ME?” You gasp in outrage, and as he fights back the smirk on his lips, you tug his collar promptly, “I literally love you more than life itself, don’t even try it.”

“You’re the one who refused to kiss me first!” He scoffed, leaning in for another and smiling against your lips when you don’t pull away. “Had to provoke me and shit. Hate it. Just kiss me when I lean in, damn.”

“You will live if I don’t give into your kisses whenever you demand,” you tease, leaning up to him to sink your teeth into his lip, which, even though he gives you an annoyed look, he absolutely pursed out for you to nip. “Now go. Don’t keep your friend waiting. Scram.”

He groans dramatically, "there you go. Trying to get rid of me again." You smack his chest, and he chuckles as he stills your hands. This time, he leans forward for a kiss, and you comply, moving your arms to wrap around his neck. This one is a lot more gentle, paced and familiar, it takes your breath away and you mewl happily into his mouth. In an act of dominance, his massive paws come up to grip the hair at the nape of your neck, and you whimper softly.

He pulls away with a pant, "I fucking love you."

"That's nice," you smile, fighting the laughter that wants to spill from your lips when he looks completely unamused to your next act of rebellion.

"I'll leave you for Ushijima, I swear to god, asshole."

Team Japan x GN! manager

Ok now, hear me out 👀 what if our precious manager YN just so happened to live in the dorms with Team Japan…

Picture it 🙌🏻 originally, you decided to move into the doors for convenience purposes. The dorms are right next to the gym, so you can literally roll out of bed and get to practice.

The food is made by professional chefs so not only is it healthy, but it’s amazing.

You have your own room with en suite bathroom 😱 and probably the best, it’s rent free!! And trust me, in this economy 👀🤚🏻 please we need all the help we can get!

It actually sounds like a pretty solid deal right?

Well you know what they say, there’s always a catch. And your “catch” comes in the form of several very annoying adult men : D

No matter how much the coaches and Iwaizumi threatened these guys, they will never leave you alone. Seriously like a bunch of toddlers 🙄

Literally everyone had a meeting about this specifically!

“And remember, when you get back to the dorms, YN is off duty. And that means what?” Iwaizumi probes the group

“That means YN’s not working?” Bokuto answers

“And?” Iwaizumi continues

“And what?” Hinata asks, confused

“Please don’t lump me in with these idiots,” Sakusa says, standing up and walking out of the gym.

Iwaizumi is probably face palming himself as we speak 🤦🏻‍♂️

“That means you leave Yn alone!”

Audible groans and protest can be heard around the world.

“But why? YN’s right there. What if I need more athletic tape?” Gao groans

“That seems like something that can wait until the next practice day don’t ya think?” You respond as the interruptions continue.

“What if I need a drink?” Kageyama asks, prompting yet another round of thought provoking questions.

Iwaizumi is trying his best not to lash out but it’s only been 2 minutes and he’s at his limits.

“Kageyama, I don’t get your drinks after practice. I have literally never done that!” You retort

“Yeah but what if I really need one made specifically by you?” He questions

“And what after practice scenario would you need that specific request Kags?” You respond

“Ohhh I can think of a few!” Atsumu shouts

At this point, Iwaizumi’s zen has left the building

“ABSOLUTELY NO BOTHERING YN!” He screams

Yaku, being the cheeky man he is, raises his hand, asking, “what about a fire? Should we just let YN burn because we can’t bother them?”

The boys all begin shouting various unreasonable scenarios as you and Iwaizumi just stare in disbelief 😐

“Oh, I think I bit ya too hard last time. The hickey’s still visible.” He chuckles. But the chuckle fades out and a frown takes its place as he notices that the hickey is located at the column of your throat instead of the base of your neck where he loves to mark you.

“Babe?” He calls out quietly. You hum, busy fake-reading the book and biting hard at your lips to keep them from bursting out laughing at the look on Atsumu’s face.

Frowning harder, he grabs you from the couch, ignoring your yelp as he sets you on his lap, face closing in as he studies the hickey-like marking closely. You try pushing him away, but he simply manhandles your hands behind your back and holds them there singlehandedly. With the thumb of his other hand he rubs vigorously at the hickey, successfully smudging the makeup.

His frown turns into a full-blown grin as he observes the red smudge on his thumb, half angry half smug face looking up at you. “Ya really thought ya fooled me, huh?”

You scowl at him, “You weren’t supposed to find out so soon.” You pout, trying to wiggle out of his lap. Atsumu lets out a throaty laugh, his arms coming around you, wrapping you up in a tight embrace, “Where d’ya think ya going, hmm? We still gotta decide on a punishment for ya.” You were bold to assume he would let you off scot-free after that stunt.

ꕤ ᴏɪᴋᴀᴡᴀ – ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴᴇ ᴡʜᴏ ᴋɴᴇᴡ

You were stupid to assume he wouldn’t know of such a commonplace prank. Oikawa is a very popular person.

And that reflects on his social media life too. He knows of all the pranks in existence.

So when he sees you walking around the house flaunting a hickey that he has no idea when he gave you, he freezes for a second before he bursts out laughing. Not expecting that you stop mid-action. You look at h im confused, “What’s wrong?” His laughter only turns harder at your question. You pout, annoyed. Did he not notice the hickey you worked so hard to perfect?

“It’s-” he starts, only to break down into fervent giggles, “It’s nothing, bunny. You are just so cute!” He exclaims, wheezing. You scowl at him. “What’s so funny?” Oikawa looks up at you from the couch, “You really wanna know?”

“Hit me with it.” You jut your chin out stubbornly, putting the hickey on show. Oikawa looks at it for a second and starts laughing again, even harder. He grabs his stomach, “Owh babe, please. I- I can’t- Gosh!”

Grabbing his phone he clicks a quick picture of you standing there. Calming his breathing he types something out on his phone. And as he places it back down, your phone dings. It’s an Instagram notification and when you click it you are directed to Oikawa’s post tagging you, captioned– “Look at them trying to prank me with that barely passable hickey!” What’s even more hilarious is that the photo taken from that angle indeed looks very funny. Your face heats up.

Feeling embarrassed at being found out so quick, you throw your phone onto the couch. “TOOORRUUUUUUU!!!” you yell as you jump at him, ready for a battle. The little playfighting does not go on for long as he has you pinned to the couch in a matter of seconds. “Try something new next time, baby.” He winks at you, swooping down to capture your lips in a hot kiss.

ꕤ ᴋᴀɢᴇʏᴀᴍᴀ – ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴜꜱᴘɪᴄɪᴏᴜꜱ ɪɴᴛᴇʀʀᴏɢᴀᴛᴏʀ

His eyes widen like saucers when he first caught sight of the hickey mark on your neck, and you do your best to hold the laughter in at his comical look. He didn’t say anything though, opting to observe you from afar. Then a bit close. Then very close. You were flipping the pancake as you hummed a random song. Kageyama leans at the counter beside you, casually asking you, “Where were you today?” You smile at him, “I met some friends today!” He tilts his head, giving you long sideglances and hoping he’s being subtle, “Oh? Who are these friends?” You giggle, “My high school friends, idiot! Didn’t I tell you about them?” “Oooh… Those…” he trails off, trying to remember all the names you had said would be there. There’s nobody suspicious that would leave a mark on you like that. “Anyone else joined your meetup?” You gleam, excitedly telling him, “Oooh, yes! There was this hot guy who came up to us and hung out with us! He was cool. Ro took him home.” You play it cool, knowing Kageyama hates it when you call other men adjectives like cool and hot infront of him.

“Nothing else happened?” his eyes narrow. You turn to look a him. Kageyama snaps his head, quickly looking away. You act dumb, “What do you mean?” Kageyama gulps, “You didn’t–” He starts, “You didn’t cheat on me, did you?” Fake-surprised, you gasp, “What? No! Why would you say that?”

He points to your throat, eyes already misty, “There’s- there’s a little something on your neck.” He looks away, trying to hide the moisture slowly collecting on his eyes. Kageyama is a silent lover, and watching him in pain pained you too. Switching off the gas, you cup his face, making him look at you. “Tobio. Tobio, hey!” You say softly, making him focus on you. “I’m sorry. It was just a prank.”

He grimaces, closing his eyes and letting the tears drop on either cheek, “I hate you for this.” He whispers, arms pulling you to his chest. You can feel the rumbling in his chest as he shudders at the possibility of you cheating on him. It makes you sad and guilty, “I’m sorry, Tobio. Promise I won’t do that ever again.” You rub at his back comfortingly. He pulls back, “Promise?” he demands. “Promise.” You nod at him as he pulls you in for a kiss.

ꕤ ꜱᴀᴋᴜꜱᴀ ᴋɪʏᴏᴏᴍɪ – ᴛʜᴇ ᴏʙʟɪᴠɪᴏᴜꜱ ᴏɴᴇ

You close the door gently behind you, not wanting to disturb your boyfriend if he was asleep. As you remove your shoes, Sakusa’s head pops from the bedroom. “You are late.” You chuckle, “No shit, Sherlock. I had to work overtime.”

He hums, looking at the clock that’s striking half past ten. “Did you have dinner?” You shake your head. And as if on cue, your stomach grumbles and he grins at the embarrassed expression on your face. “Come on, I’ll heat up the leftovers for you.” Nodding your head you move to the dining table, cracking your neck strategically as you walk past him, offering him a clear glance at the hickey-like mark decorating your neck.

Sitting at the dining table, you look at the brooding boyfriend. “What’s up?” You ask, knowing well that he saw the faux-hickey. Sakusa’s brows furrow and he shakes his head, “Wait a minute, I’ll be right back.” he says before striding over to the bedroom. You look at the bedroom confused until he returns. And when you see what he brought with him your eyes widen.

Jumping up from your seat you rush to quickly put the dining table between you ans Sakusa. “Come here, y/n.” Sakusa says menacingly, his choice of weapon - a spraybottle filled with liquid hand sanitizer in his hand. “Why the hand sanitizer?” You question. “You need to be cleaned up a bit.”

“No, I don’t?”

“Stop fussing, baby. I’ll clean you up real quick.” You squeal as Sakusa suddenly jumps over the table. You dash away from the table, rushing into the living room with Sakusa hot on your heels. “Stop! Stop chasing me!” You holler as you both circle the sofa, giggling at the same time.

“Can’t, love. I must clean you up this instant.” He somberly states before leaping over the sofa. This time luck is against you as his long arm wraps around your waist, yanking you to his lap as he sits on the sofa. Pinning your hands above your head, he sprays the liquid hand sanitizer on your neck.

You squeal at the unpleasantly wet and cold sensation on your neck. Sakusa grabs a handkerchief from his pajama pocket and rubs vigorously at your neck, easily removing the stain. And he only leaves you once he ensures that your neck is spotless.

”All good.” He smiles looking down at you. “Did you know that was supposed to be a hickey?” Sakusa’s eyes widen momentarily, but then he looks at the color stain on his handkerchief and looks back at you questioningly. You sigh, sitting up in his lap and explaining what a hickey prank is. “But if you wanted a hickey, I could just give you one?” He questions, looking at you judgingly.

💭 what would kageyama be like as a barista or waiter in a cafe au?

🫐 kageyama, for all the great things he can do on the court with the stability and dexerity of his hands, really wants to do latte art. though... he kinda sucks at it.

🫐 kageyama would try to be patient with indecisive customers, though he sometimes mutters under his breath, "just order something..." while his eyes narrow at the customer involuntarily, frightening the customer while he's left confused, not realizing he was looking all intimidating and angry.

🫐kageyama doesn't mind waiting or bussing tables, he finds it a good exercise; he hates being cooped up behind the counter for too long if he's assigned cashier duty.

🫐 kageyama doesn't know what to do when a customer flirts with him. seriously, he's at a loss for what to do or say, especially when they're quite cute to him, example, you.

🫐 kageyama struggles to look at you in the eye whenever you visit the cafe, he sometimes just looks down at the cash register, focuses on the coffee while overthinking if the blend is good enough for you, and stuttering out your order to repeat it when he waits your table.

🫐 kageyama doesn't think too highly of the blends he makes, as long as people come back for it, he's doing a good job. he wants to master his craft, though, so he's constantly reinventing his blends the best he can.

🫐 kageyama always has your usual orders in the back of his mind, just in case you'd come by. he finds himself feeling bored whenever you don't come around to the cafe, like things have become quite slow and uneventful for him that's he's lost interest in most other things, but when you come to the cafe, his mind and heart are racing.

🫐 kageyama always had to kind of force a smile, as per his senior sugawara's suggestion of greeting the customers with a bright, shiny, happy smile. though... his smiles were always pretty scary. he didn't really bother to force himself to smile after that, but until you came, it's like a switch flipped in him.

🫐 kageyama greets you back into the cafe, with you a little surprised and awestruck at the man before you. he wonders if he looks groggy, because he took a nap earlier, but when you point out in a soft gasp that he was smiling, that you weren't scared of him, nor creeped out, but quite enamored with his natural grin... he felt his cheeks flush red, his smile turning into a flustered purse of lips, with him avoiding eye contact with you once more out of bashfulness; but he's glad to see you smile at the sight of his rare beaming grin.

HI THERE!! idk why i just felt like greeting you excitedly. I'm proud that i'm the first ever req receiver of yours😤

I'm actually glad that you're giving me a bit of direction here, I'm always worried that my request went in a way that the person requesting doesn't want it to go😭😭

Today was a beautiful sunny day. I say was because the sky is currently colored a deep gray.

Somehow, that puts you in a gloomy mood too. Especially because you're anticipating the mountain of math homework the teacher dropped upon your class.

You sighed, contuing to walk home. None of your friends live in the same direction as you or simply have a quicker path to their home, so you have no one to complain to about it.

You stopped at the traffic light alongside some other people, waiting for the light to turn green when you felt a droplet of rain fall on your head.

And then another. And another.

Oh great, and it had to start raining too. You didn't check the weather report today so you didn't have the foresight to bring an umbrella with you.

You sighed again, already dreading how cold and icky you're going to feel soon. A significant amount already fell on you at that point.

Suddenly, you saw a hand holding an umbrella next to you, and the rain stopped hitting your head and shoulders.

"You forgot your umbrella... Right?" your gaze moved up the arm holding the umbrella to find your classmate, Kageyama Tobio looking at you. This is a little strange and unexpected, but not unwelcome by any means. It's always better to arrive home dry, after all.

You nodded in response, silently thanking him. The traffic light finally turned green, and the two of you continued on your path home. Now that you think about it, you've always shared a path home with Kageyama.

It's a bit of a shame you two have barely interacted throughout the school year.

But now, when walking home under the same umbrella, you can't help but wonder why he would even do this. You're just one of his classmates he barely talks to, after all.

"Stop staring." his voice snapped you out of your thoughts, only now realising you were looking at him the entire time. It's a miracle you didn't bump into something yet.

He looked away, but not before you could notice his cheeks turn slightly pink.

You couldn't help but smile a little at that despite his harsh way of warning you.

"Well, here's my home." you pointed to your house, making him stop in his tracks, inspecting the way your house looks. "Thanks again!" you waved back to him with a smile as you walked to the doorway, silently reveling in the way his cheeks turned pink and the way he waved back awkwardly.

Maybe you should start talking to him more.

This is my first request from Haikyuu and I got reaaaaaally nervous so i apologize if it isn't that good!! Also I just recovering from all my mess and I'm been lazy so at the end it was a little rushed

Tobio Kageyama

Kageyama has a lot of troubles expressing himself directly so he does it more on indirect ways and you playing, or at least liking volleyball it is of a big help for him to get closer to you, since he is dedicated to volleyball too that could open a door for comunication for you two and make things easier for him

If he has the opportunity he will like a lot to practice with you, although he doesn't say it directly and just invite you and he will try to be as calm as posible, not wanting to become a trouble for you as he did in the past with the rest of his team (but can easily get over excited by the idea of playing with the person he loves)

Although, Kageyama will express this in diferent ways depending the time, if he had met you before the accident he will be really excited and a little pushy about practicing together and learning from each other (he is even being competitive with it but does it for fun, is just the way he is and is happy to share it with you). In the other hand, if he had met you after the accident, when you already can't play anymore it will take him a while to get used to the situation and don't make a big deal out of it (not in the way that he is mad but extremely worried), he doesn't know what to do at first, if it would be alright to talk about volleyball or not, if it will make you uncomfortable or even sad, it could be that he give a try and see how comfortable you are with it or that he finally ask you a out how comfortable you are with talking about it

Although, if it happen that you have the accident while being in a relationship with him Kageyama will be with you during the whole process of healing and will suffer it with you, he can understand perfectly fine what do you feel at the news of don't being able to play anymore and he hates it, but he also understand that if you continue you could put on risk your body. Kageyama feels frustrated and impotent and yet he tries his hardest to help you

Kageyama has the idea that he is playing for both of you, and that idea gives him a lot of determination and helps him throught the hard times of learning (although, if he had been with you during the accident this idea will lead him to overwork himself for a while), he doesn't really share this thought with you, or maybe have done it once while trying to comfort you but is a thought that company him everytime he has a match, he things that he is going to win this game for you

Aside from the volleyball Kageyama is always taking care of you, if is the case he tries to make you company during the rehabilitation or be there for you after the session, he doesn't tell you directly but remember all the needs your injury has or the limitations that cause you and is always looking after you (like, for example, if you can carry heavy things he will do it for you without a second thought). Even after it has passed years and you are fully healed he still takes in consideration your injuries in case you have to take special precautions, at the end he just get used to it and is so normal do him to think on it

Shoyo Hinata

Shoyo can be pretty flustered by the only thought of being in a relasionship and is propably that this is his first relasionship so it would take him a while to get used to it and to don't be a flustered mess all the time. However you liking the volleyboll as much as he does it makes things way easier for him, thanks to that is easier for him to treat you as a best friend while getting used to the romantic part

Shoyo is an entusiast for the volleyboll and you loving it so much too will deepen the conection you tow have and he will be all the time inviting you to train with him and may even will want to introduce you too all his teamates because he is really proud of both, you and all of them

Knowing that you used to play volleyboll and were serious with it is something he really admires, even if you didn't have much time on the court or were a crussial player doesn't matter much since he will admire you anyways (but his admiration will scale depending in how good you play), and the fact that you can play anymore sadden him a lot, it is probably that it affects him as much as it does to you (and will not hesitant on expressing it)

If it happen that you have the accident while already being in a relasionship with him he will suffer the process of healing and recovering with you as if it was happening to him (still you become his priority), he wants to support you and make you smile despite everything but he has a hard time trying to think in other things that isn't your injury or the fact that you won't be able to play again

In the case that the accident happened before you two started dating or even met he will be really sad and shocked by the news but it would also depend in your reaction, if you still seem hurt by that he will be really nervous and won't know if he should support you or avoid the topic, in the other hand if you seem more calm or even already made peace with it he will be a little hesitant but at the end he will grow comfortable to talk about all of this with you

If you are able to play volleyboll sometimes or as a hobby he will be more than happy to play a little with you (but will be a little hesitant at first), and he will end up cheerishing a lot those moments. In the case you can't continue playing volleyball at all he will be really sad again but it won't take him much before that becoming his determination, in a rush of adrenaline and an immense love

Shoyo will promise to you that from now on he will play for both, he become the best player ever, he will make you proud and he will dedicate it to you, it may sound extreme or even silly (considering his lack of skills in certain things of playing) but he mean it and he is planning to become better and stronger, he may even try to add some of the technique you used to have while playing to feel like if you were playing with him too

Plus, you and mob were also childhood friends, only difference is that you and takane stayed friends

I mean how could u not be friends with tsubomi? You both understood each other and you two being aware of mobs crush on you

Well takane was worried about someone who you both still considered a distant friend misunderstanding you

After the two of you start dating and many risky situations you begin letting everyone know

I mean the first day mob was so nervous on letting everyone know and walking in holding hands but once you convinced him he did it

I mean their definition of royalty was walking around with some rando and as time went on they tried their best to tolerate it

Honestly ritsu and dimple probably had to pull some stunts to not have mob being brutally bullied every waking hour-

kageyama cuddle oneshot for the lovely @springevenings! thank you for the request!! sorry it’s so short and over a year late ;u;

also it wasn’t specified whether they wanted this pre or post timeskip, so I did pre-timeskip. I love some awkward highschool romance baybeeeeeee

honestly I had some trouble with this one because this boy has the emotional intelligence of a goddamn brick wall, but I tried my best!

The room was quiet save for the sound of sparse raindrops gently hitting the window pane while thick dark clouds swallowed the sky outside. You sighed and placed your face on your hands propped up by your elbows on the table. Messy stacks of school papers and pencils littered the wooden surface. Your boyfriend sat on the opposite side of the table, eyebrows furrowed in an intense scowl as he stared at his assignment.

“You need help?”

He jolted a little as he snapped out of his confusion-ridden stupor, quickly lifting his head to meet your gaze. You scooted around the edge of the table to sit next to him as he frustratedly ran a hand through his silky black hair, his other hand restlessly spinning a pencil around his thumb.

“I just don’t understand these questions….” he slid the paper closer to you as leaned over to get a better look. The paper under the problem was worn and grey from all the times it had been erased and rewritten, nearly tearing a hole.

You leaned up against him lightly, placing your head on his shoulder. You smiled when you felt him stiffen awkwardly at your touch, but didn’t push you away. You knew that Kageyama wasn’t used to physical displays of affection, much less reciprocating them, but he still relished the feeling of your skin on his.

“Let’s take a break for now and look at it later when we have fresh eyes.”

He merely made a noise of agreement and sighed, dropping the pencil he’d been fidgeting with onto the tabletop. You took this opportunity to gently lace your fingers with his, squeezing his hand softly as you smiled up at him. He averted his gaze as his cheeks flushed pink, but gratefully held your hand in return.

As you sat in comfortable silence with your boyfriend, the sounds of raindrops splattering against the window grew louder and faster. You released his hand and stood up to peer through the blinds. A bolt of lightning tore its way across the sky as hearty thunder rolled through just a moment later, the torrential downpour getting worse by the second.

“Well, looks like I’m not going home any time soon…” you muttered.

Kageyama rose from the desk to stretch and yawn, walking up from behind you blinking blearily.

You turned around and smiled at your big sleepy boyfriend, then moved to lay casually on his bed, your cheek propped up against your hand.

“C’mere, let’s take a quick rest, I promise I won’t let us sleep too long.” you patted the mattress.

He pouted his lips in embarrassment as a light blush dusted over his cheeks, but shuffled over to join you, awkwardly laying down facing you.

You smiled warmly and snuggled into his large frame, pressing a sweet kiss to his cheek before burying your face in his shoulder.

His blush grew more intense at your affections, but he draped an arm over you and quickly placed a shy kiss on your forehead.

It wasn’t long before he was softly snoring next to your ear, chest rising and falling in rhythmic succession.

You smiled as you silently admired his sleeping face. His usual scowl was absent in favor of a peaceful expression, his handsome features unmarred by the usual wrinkles of annoyance that formed around his brow.

The fact that he trusted you enough to be this vulnerable with you filled you with emotion, your heart felt like it was about to burst from adoration.

The warmth from your shared body heat was the perfect temperature to combat the blustering winds outside, and you soon felt yourself drift off in his arms.

Daichi:

"I loved you truly

Gotta laugh at the stupidity"

"I should've known it was strange

You only come out at night"

>> You always found it weird that Daichi would go out around midnight or almost midnight, I'm talking about 10, 11 or 12PM and then come back an hour and a half later. God you hate yourself for falling into his trap when he assures you saying, "It's required for me to patrol around the area" or "you know I'm a police officer, babe" and due to your sincere love for him, you always did understand his responsibilities.

Although you can't help but notice that every time he comes back, he smells and looks.. fresh? Like he had just taken a shower and re-used his clothes.

Maybe he did take a shower with a girl he was giving an after care for. Maybe he was patrolling the area of his girl's apartment. But you can't do anything, you don't have enough evidence.

Sugawara:

"Cause I've made some real big mistakes

But you make the worst one look fine"

"You're so convincing

How do you lie without flinching?"

>> Sugawara gave you an extra key to his class just in case he locks the door and you wanted to visit him. Your relative, who goes to the school that he teaches, called you and told you how amazing his day was, you found it weird that Sugawara isn't home yet. "That's awesome, buddy! But I gotta go, alright? I'll call later on, bye-bye!"

Once you hung up, you drove as fast as you can to the school and came into his classroom without warning.

You saw a woman sitting on Suga's desk, while he has his right arm wrapped around her waist. The woman could only eye you up and down before turning to yell at Suga, "I thought you told them? Gosh Suga! We've been over this for what? A thousand time?!" The said woman jumped out of his grasp, pushed you aside and walked out while slamming the door behind her.

He scoffs at you before opening the door and chasing after the woman.

He left you, huh? Of course he did.

Asahi:

"Bleedin' me dry, like a goddamn vampire"

>> Being an apparel designer and someone who used to get nervous all the time, Asahi gets insecure about the things that he has or had created. He always yearns for your compliment and your opinion both for him and his designs.

And God did it drain you, always saying "you did a great job today, pretty boy" "look at this! One thing missing and after that, it'll be all perfect!" You acted more like his worker rather than his partner, to be honest.

Nishinoya:

"Ooh, what a mesmerizing, paralyzing, fucked-up little thrill

Can't figure out just how you do it, and God knows I never will"

>> Nishinoya takes you with him every time he goes travelling, he winks at you before saying, "It's my treat, love"

After a long day, you both headed onto a nearby hotel before resuming your adventures for tomorrow. The room was spacious, the balcony had the best view and you were busy day dreaming while Noya went into the hotel lobby to fetch you both some food and when he came back, he surprised you with your favorite meal!

You're so easy to distract that you missed the kiss mark on his temple and his neck.

Kageyama:

"The way you sold me for parts

As you sunk your teeth into me, oh

>> Kageyama kept your relationship very lowkey, he didn't wanna make you overwhelmed by the amount of fans and paparazzi that's on his back, but his team does know you.

When Kageyama is fast asleep, you grab his phone and tries to find one of his teammate's number and luckily, you did!

2:09 AM:

"Hi! Kageyama's girlfriend here, I got your number off of his phone. Can you please help me set up a party for him? Thank you and it's no biggie if you decline."

5:31 AM

"Hey, you have a different number? Gosh [random name] you didn't tell me sooner."

"I'm sorry you must've misunderstood, It's actually Y/n!"

"Oh, Y/n? Aren't you his one night stand? Please stop messaging me, i'm uncomfortable knowing Tobio has a girlfriend and you're trying to earn his attention. Thank you for the efforts of reaching out for me."

He kept you a secret because all they know is you were nothing but a fling to him.

Hinata:

"How's the castle built off people you pretend to care about?"

>> When Hinata got home from practice, he could tell that you were tired and he asked about your day, "Nothing much, just stressful customers always making a scene, you know?" You laugh at your words while Hinata looked into your eyes, "That's sad." He coughs "anyways my day was more stressful than yours, I–"

You spaced out while his rambling started.

Did he even put himself into your shoes?

Tsukishima:

"I used to think I was smart

But you made me look so naive"

"And every girl I ever talked to told me you were bad, bad news

You called them crazy, God, I hate the way I called them crazy too"

>> Tsukishima has you wrapped around his fingers and he knows it. He made you so dependent on him that he knows you can't even go on a day without telling him stories. Gosh he loves the way you're so easy to manipulate! you could've lent in some time for the girls to explain themselves but no, you took his words.

What a fool.

Yamaguchi:

'Cause girls your age know better"

>> Yamaguchi likes someone from his class, but when you confessed to him, he can't help but accept it out of pity. And Yamaguchi successfully shaped you into his crush. Making you trim your hair, dress in a different aesthetic and even changing the way you talk, just for him. And gosh when you saw the way he looked at the person he liked, you noticed something similar about them.

Everything. You're like that person's mirror.
