What writing tips would you give to beginner writers?
These are some general things I wished I had known when I started writing. Keep in mind that everyone is different, so these tips may not be as useful to you as it may be to someone else.
Tropes exist for a reason. If you have an idea, but see that there's already a fic with similar ideas, that's okay. Don't be discouraged. Tropes are loved because people want to read them and reread them. Plus your take will always be different from others because we all have different perspectives, writing styles, and ideas.
Write for the hell of it. If you have an idea, just write. It's okay if it's not good. It's okay if you never go back to it. The more you write, even if it's not to be shared, is good experience and can help you grow as a writer. Keep in mind though, that the more you post, the more feedback you receive which can help you improve greatly. It's always good to get constructive criticism from others. It's also okay to not be interested in constructive criticism. You'll still improve just by writing more.
Write for yourself. This might sound cliché, but it's true. Write what you want to and what you enjoy. Even if it's niche, that's okay since there will still be people interested in it. Interests are not exclusive and you may even be surprised that what you think is niche, might not be at all!
Schedules work for some and don't work for others. If you're a person that knows deadlines work for you and it won't hinder your creativity, then set a schedule for yourself. Set goals of writing a specific amount of words. Set dates when you'll post new chapters. BUT, it's also okay if schedules don't work for you. They personally don't work for me at all. Writing and sharing, especially when it comes to fanfiction is FREE. So don't feel obligated to get a chapter out by this time or that time. Creativity comes and goes, things in life happen, there's so many factors to posting, so don't feel pressured to do as others. Do what suits you! Some people can post every week, some can post every few months, some people need years and that's perfectly okay.
Don't base your success on hits/comments/kudos/etc. Some of the best stories I have ever read on AO3 have had low hits/comments/kudos. There are so many hidden gems out there. But do keep in mind that when you start writing and posting, these things may naturally be lower at the beginning. Over time, as you post more, people can become familiar with your style and what you write. On top of that, this feeds back to just writing. Writing more will improve your skills, which then will draw in more readers and also get them to stay or look at your other works.
Don't be scared to share and self-promote. When you start, it can be daunting to share what you've created. But we all had to start somewhere and if you asked me if I liked my first stories, it would be a hard no. What matters when I do look back at them, is that I see improvement. And as long as you keep working and enjoying the process, then improvement will definitely happen. Finally, when it comes to self-promoting, do it! Sometimes the only time I see a new story that I end up loving is because someone has promoted their own work. They're proud of it and I love to find new things that people were passionate about. I will also shamelessly recommend my own stories if needed. Just don't spam people 😂
Pantser, Plotter, or Plantser. These are three different ways of describing your writing style. Pantsers are more fluid and free with the way they write. Plotters lean toward more strict planning, relying on outlines and following a specific plan. Plantsers are a combination of the two. Try different styles and gradually you'll find what works best for you. I started out as a wildly free, honestly chaotic, Pantser but am very much a Plantser now. Writing styles can change over time, but just know that being comfortable with the style you're using is what's important.
Hopefully some of these things are helpful. They're somewhat vague and not all of them are strictly related to writing, but they are all things that I believe are important to know. These are also some things that can even be helpful to people who aren't new to writing. These are all things that I still follow and practice to this day too.
PS: I like to keep my asks/dms open for people looking for a second eye on their writing. If anyone is interested in having me read anything and share feedback, you're welcome to send me a message. My availability varies due to work, so you may not hear back from me right away though.

How your disabled character's allies react to their disability can make or break the representation in your story: Writing Disability Quick Tips
Tumblr media
[ID: An image with “Writing Disability quick tips: How your character's allies react to their disability matters” written in chalk the colour of the disability pride flag, from left to right, red, yellow, white, blue and green. Beside the text are 2 poorly drawn people icons in green, one is standing with their hand up to the face of the other, who is in a wheelchair. /End ID]
Something I brought up in my big post about Toph Beifong was how the other characters reacted to Toph pointing out that things were not accessible to her and setting boundaries regarding her disability, which were ignored. I had more to say about it than I thought I did, as it turns out (when isn't that the case lol) but I feel like this is an important aspect of disability representation that is all too often over looked.
You can write the best, most accurate portrayal of a specific disability ever put to screen or page, but it won't mean much if all the other characters, specifically those we're supposed to like and empathise with, treat your character terribly for being disabled and having needs relating to said disability, especially if the story justifies their behaviour.
You see this most often with autistic characters and especially autistic-coded characters. The character in question will be given a bunch of autistic traits, most often traits relating to not understanding certain social dynamics or sarcasm, and when they get it wrong, the other characters we are supposed to like jump down their throat, tease them or outright abandon them. Autism isn't the only disability that gets treated this way, but it is one of the more common ones that get this treatment. It doesn't matter if you do everything else right when creating an autistic character if the other "good guys" constantly call them annoying, get angry at them or laugh at them for the very traits that make them autistic, or for advocating for their needs.
Likewise, if you have a leg amputee character who is otherwise done well, but is constantly being criticised by their allies for needing to rest their legs or taking too long to get their prosthetics on, it undermines a lot of the other work you've done. Same goes for having a wheelchair user who is accused of being a bore or a stick in the mud because they point out the places their friends want to go to on a group holiday have no wheelchair access, or a deaf character who is accused of being entitled for wanting their family to learn to sign, or anything else.
This isn't to say you can never have moments like these in your stories, but its important to remember that a) people with the same disability as your character will be in your audience. If you spend a whole season of your TV show shaming your autistic character for real traits that real autistic people have, they're not exactly going to feel welcome and may not want to hang around. b) it's going to very, very heavily impact people's perceptions of your "heros" who do this, especially in they eyes of your audience members who share the character's disability or who have had similar experiences. This isn't like calling someone a mean name or being a bit of a dick when you're sleepy, it's going to take a lot to regain audience appeal for the offending character, and depending on exactly what they do and how frequently they do it, they may not even be able to come back from it at all. And finally, c) there should be a point to it outside of just shaming this character and saying the other guy is an asshole. Like I said before, you're character is criticising real people's real disabilities and the traits or problems that come with them, things that they often have no control over, it shouldn't be used as a cheap, quick way to establish a quirky enemies to lovers dynamic or show that one guy is kind of an ass before his redemption arc. If you really must have your characters do this, be mindful of when and how you use it.

That's all I'm gonna say :)
:))))))))) you are the reason why I am the way I am - ANYWAYS, doing this with the bd gang (big dick gang) who require more preparation than the others; Chris, Minho, Changbin, Hyunjin, and Jeongin!
❣ Summary: Size training with the bd gang [big dick gang]. ❣ Warnings: Mentions of sex toys [dildos], sexting [Chris], cockwarming [Changbin, unprotected], riding [Jeongin, unprotected], degradation [Minho, Hyunjin] ❣ ❣ Word Count: 886 ❣ Female! Reader [No use of Y/n] You/Your pronouns ❣ ❣ Additional Tags: Chan is referred to as Chris, Minho is referred to as Min, Reader is referred to as princess, baby, kitten, bunny, angel, my love
Tumblr media
Chris, who encourages your size training whenever you can; glancing at his phone during a late night at the studio to see a notification from you. He can't help the twitch in his dick as he stares at the picture you sent; you, kneeling on your shared bed, the dildo you both painstakingly searched for to match his cock the best it could currently stretching you open with a shine he can only imagine to be a mixture of your arousal and lube. A small smirk grows from the message attached;
Princess💘: Miss you ❣️
He picks up the device, the work currently on his desktop going forgotten and diminishing in importance the longer he stares at that picture.
Channie💖: Fuck, good girl, make sure you're stretched out well for me, I'll be home soon
-
Minho, who's more solid than anything, thick and veiny with a curve that has you seeing double before he can even begin to fuck you. He prefers opening you up with a toy that mirrors his thickness, but not his length; that part is reserved for him and him alone.
"Kitten, if you're struggling to take this small thing, how do you expect yourself to handle me?" He tuts as he changes the angle of the toy inside of you, your legs quivering around his shoulders that keep you spread open for him.
"M-Min, please, just give it to me already!"
He makes a noise of disagreement, licking his lips as he inches near your soaked pussy, "Not yet, kitten - I think you need a little more training."
-
Changbin, who's preferred method of training you is by having you cockwarm him - specifically during cuddles, or during the night so your pussy remembers his shape before he fucks you the next night.
At first it was only the tip during cuddles, both of you laying on your sides, chest to chest, your leg hitched up on his hip while his thick head rests snug between your tight walls. But eventually, with a little time and a lot of dedication and determination [and mental fortitude], you had graduated into taking his insanely girthy cock like a champ; nestled to the hilt as you lay on top of him, his hands drawing soothing shapes on your lower back.
"Look at you, bunny," he murmurs softly, shifting his hips up ever so slightly, feeling your pussy clench in retaliation, "looks like you're finally ready to take all of me."
-
Hyunjin, whose dick is so long you're not even sure how it'll fit inside of you - so, to prepare you, you both agreed on buying a dildo that was close enough to match his length, and you'd use it whenever he wasn't there to train you himself.
It was... a lot, to say the least, a scheduled routine for you both; one inch with him, two inches with the toy, two inches with him, three inches with the toy, three inches with him, and so on and so forth until you were able to take the toy to it's full length - which meant you were ready to take him.
If course, the moment you were comfortable enough with trying it out, his schedule got in the way and you confined yourself to fucking yourself with the toy until he was able to give you what you wanted. What you didn't expect, however, was for his practice to end early - or for him to come home to you on your knees, ass in the air, arm squeezed between your torso and the mattress as you fucked the silicone toy desperately.
"Oh, angel, look at you," he crawled on the bed behind you, long fingers brushing against your smaller ones as he took the base of the toy in his hand, "so ready to take me, you can't even make yourself come on this silly toy."
You opened your mouth in a plea, but the words are stolen from your tongue once you hear the sound of his belt unbuckling and his zipper sliding down.
"I'm here now, my love, let's see how good this training did, hm?"
-
Jeongin, the second longest, nearly perfect in every other aspect that you almost didn't want to go through the hassle of preparing yourself for him. But, he's a worrier - he knows he's above average and he knows that if things aren't done right, he could seriously hurt you; so, to quell his fear, you offered him a compromise.
That compromise involved you on top of him - he didn't trust himself to top until you could take him with no struggle - slowly riding him inch by inch until you could reach the base with the smallest of bounces along his cock. This took some getting used to for both you and him, seeing as by the time he was fully seated inside of you, you both were three strokes away from finishing.
But, it was well worth it come the night you offered to ride him, determined to see the fruits of your labor realized.
Oh, how realized they were.
You sunk down on him in one go, velvet walls welcoming him almost too easily and his head spun; gripping your hips with trembling breaths and a glowing smile.
"Fuck," he gasped, an airy laugh escaping him, "Fucking ride me, baby."

you were just having fun with your friends at the bar without your lover's permission, how did this even happen?
your arms were wrapped around his neck, his dick buried inside you as your hips continued to move and ride it.
"come on, pup. you can do more than that hm? faster." *he purred seductively in your ear, causing a shiver down your spine.
your pace quickens, earning a shaky groan from him. with a sudden movement, childe pressed his lips forcefully against yours, claiming a passionate kiss that left no room for your objections.
He savored the taste, the way you responded to his dominance, and his fingers tightened on your waist, pulling you closer.
The room was filled with the echoing symphony of your shared pleasure, as he surrendered himself to the intoxicating allure of the forbidden. Your bodies moved in unison, a frenzied dance of desire and arousal, each thrust bringing you closer to the peak of ecstasy.
The sound of your moans and your enticing words filled childe's ears, fuelling the fire of his desire. His body moved in sync with yours, the rhythm becoming fervent and unrestrained.
The intensity of the moment was overwhelming, the sensations intertwining in a kaleidoscope of pleasure.
"yes, just like that pretty boy. you're doing so— nGh! well..! s-shit mm.." he unleashed a series of rough, deep thrusts, his hips meeting yours with a forceful rhythm.
his fingers got a hold of your chin, forcing you to look at him as he smashed his lips against yours causing you to gasp. he took the opportunity and slipped his tongue in, swirling his tongue around yours.
a few seconds later he paused to catch some breath before his hand began traveling down to your neglected cock, his thumb rubbing and teasing the tip earning a yelp from you.
he maintained the relentless thrusts, determined to bring you to the climax you so desperately craved.
"cum for me, puppy. let everyone hear who you- mm.. belong to." *he whispered in your neck, his breath hitching at the tightness before as his movements turned sloppy and messy, a clear sign of climax.
With a final, powerful thrust, childe lost himself in his own release, his hips grinding against your ass as he rode out his climax. But his focus remained solely on you, on your pleasure and the connection you shared.
As the room filled with the sounds of your shared ecstasy, childe's eyes remained fixed on you, your shared gaze a testament to the intimacy you had forged in that moment of unfiltered desire
"don't rest yet, pup. we're not done."

Advice on how to achieve aesthetically pleasing gameplay photos!
UPDATED: 4/22/2024
I made this post earlier today and people were interested in the comments! Which made me more excited to make this post~
this is just some advice from me! this isnt a tutorial or anything of that sort, but I will be linking some things that could be helpful for editing gameplay! :D
First things first, I want to say that I use a graphics overhaul, lighting mods check my resources page for what reshade i use if ur interested.
I use these lighting mods & graphics override specifically:
sunblind
graphics overhaul
Lotharihoe's ootd* curseforge download :)
Northern siberia winds in-game better lighting mod (bright base)
these are some other lighting mods you can try out as well!
Luumia's NoBlu & NoGlo
these are some other lighting mods like sunblind
how to install lighting mod
I just wanted to add these things in since we're talking screenshots + I wanted to share for the no reshade ppl <3
Now we can move on to the advice!
Tumblr media
I love the simple style of gameplay editing so much, but for me I love creating an ambience with my posts and put the audience inside of my gameplay. I also enjoy storytelling with gameplay more than just the "usual" gameplay post (when it comes to me). I am currently playing the globetrotter challenge with my sim Daichi. I really went all out with the editing for that gameplay. For this one its very much a virtual collage of my sim doing things. Trying new things and getting inspired by others is always fun and cool! Remember when u do take inspo: link to the inspiration and @ the simmer that inspired u!!
Tumblr media
In my other save (my cozy save) I also take creative liberties there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
its more of a cozy vibe & silent story-telling (storytelling w/o the dialogue). for my cozy save i take inspiration from @/stellarfalls. er gameplay really helped me find my niche thing in the way i play the game tbh!
Angles/Screenshots
When you're taking your screenshots, angles are important. Depending on the shot, you're putting emphasis on a specific thing. This post is very helpful and talks about different types of angles/shots and what they mean. Check it out especially if you want to play around with the way you take screenshots!
Here’s some editing tips from @stellarfalls !!
simmingstars editing tips
Reshade
If I want to create a moody or dreamy ambience I can use reshade. Looking for a reshade that will fit the overall vibe is a must or you can make your own~
i know not everyone is able to use reshade because they're not on windows. I highly recommend using photoshop actions to create that ambience you're looking for.
*These can be used in photopea, but it cant read topaz clean. If you want to achieve topaz clean in photopea, check this post out! just something i'd like to add in case people are new to all of this + dont use photoshop. Lastly, I want to say if you decide to edit photos on photopea, it does tend to crash if you upload a big number of photos and slows down. I usually upload like 6 or 8 and then save and repeat the process. Its kinda annoying, but ive been using photopea for a while now so im used to it. My mac users, use early-grapes butter action if you want things to look cleaner and less harsh!! + the other ps actions down below. I used these a lot when I was a mac user. Of course, that comes with extra steps, but I feel its worth it in the end.
I like these photoshop action packs bc theres tons of stuff in here that can help create a reshade like look:
intramoon's ps action dump
wooldawn's ps acton dump
smubuh's photoshop actions
early-grape's butter action
hazelminesims's ps actions
Templates!
I loveeeeeee templates so much!! theres so many out there to use for gameplay. It really adds more to gameplay posts! This can be dust/dirt, film burn, that cute camera template etc etc. templates are really fun to use and play around with~
I usually go on deviantart to find templates to use! if you want to check out my deviantart account you can find it here! I favorite a lot of things I can use for gameplay screenies.
Gifs
making gifs is cool because it brings the gameplay "to life" ~
EZgif is a free website that converts videos to gifs. You'll need a recording program like OBS (which is also free).
i like making gifs when i want to capture a (cute) moment (kisses, hugs, cooking etc etc). Its also cool to capture the weather in game like when its snowing or raining.
Little details
Some people really go all out on editing gameplay posts like adding hair strands and adding more details to sims faces (catchlights, tears, blushing, etc). You dont really have to do this, but I want to mention it anyways! I want to try doing this at some point because I enjoy editing my gameplay posts/photos in general and adding tiny details is fun to me lol. It adds realism to posts, but it isnt necessary!
Procreate is a really good program that you can get if you have an ipad. its 10$ and thats, that. You dont have to make any payments. You can also animate on procreate too if you're down for that!
Find inspiration in other simmers!
the sims community on tumblr is filled with such talented people! Theres lots of gameplay simmers who dont do your typical gameplay posts that you can check out and learn from!!! Ive always struggled with getting the right angles when taking screenies. I looked at other simmers and how they take screenshots & it was really helpful for me since I noticed I would take too many over the shoulder photos on my sims lol.
I think thats all the advice I have! I hope this was helpful and if you have any questions please send me an ask or dm! :D

I have shared versions of this on other platforms before, so I might as well make a tumblr edition: here some tips for MtG portfolios I gathered and might be interesting for some people who follow me. 1. Since this is a trading card game, here comes the obvious one first: Always keep in mind that these are card illustrations, they have to be readable in super small. Which means that strong silhouettes and value structures are a must have. If you work digital, check the zoomed out version on regular basis, or even have some jpgs to check their thumbnails in your file browser. That can give you an idea about their readability. Traditionally you can of course take some steps back, or take some photographs to look at smaller previews on your devices. Also: print illustrations often come out darker than their screen versions, be careful with your darks! It's rather easy for things to go muddy, even if they look good on screen. In doubt, increase the brightness a bit. It's okay to have different versions for screen and print to meet their needs.
Tumblr media
2. Be versatile about your topics and compositions. Zoom in, zoom out. Don't fall into the trap of your own comfort zone zoom level of showing things, or one way of doing things. It can be positive to offer purposefully unusual options.
Tumblr media
3. Be aware of the focus. If you have a magician with a staff, ask yourself if the card is about the staff(artifact), the mage (creature) or perhaps even the spell. The composition and focus of the illustration should shift accordingly! Clear action is important for readability – since that is not just visual hierarchy here, but also storytelling. Which brings me to the next point: 4. Good narrative matters, but mechanics matter even more. So, again, be very aware of your illustration's focus. You can potentially add extra elements for the story to make it more fun, but it should not get too convoluted, and even less should it distract from what the card it actually about. If you come up with your very own ideas for a portfolio this is of course much more open than if you work from a description. But you can find a bunch of official MtG descriptions online which are super useful for training.
Tumblr media
5. Show care. Plan the illustration, get the references in place. It's the best time to get good habits in place, and really finish the pieces. Don't make them weaker by going too fast, that is not convincing. It just lets people assume worse things for tight deadlines. This does not mean everything needs to be rendered to death - but shape design should remain thoughtful and purposeful even where soft and lost edges are used.
Tumblr media
6. It's potentially okay to have your specific stylistic or thematic niche. It can mean less assignments at times, but can also mean more special ones. It's cool though for your voice to be visible as long as the other needs of the product are met.
Tumblr media
7. Never stop using those references. Get them, make them, use them - take them seriously. (at least for any of the more realistic styles). It's one of the most repeated tips for any student to actually just use more references. They do a ton to get complicated things like anatomy and lighting right, but also cultural references and versatility. Many of the best Magic artists also make the best references – it's not a coincidence. Learn from the people who have already established themselves, they have great wisdom to share. 8. Your quality has to match the current roster. Yeah, sorry, no way around that one. You need at least to be as good as the currently "worst" artist in the roster to have a chance. And the ADs need to be sure that even on a bad day your art can meet their quality bar. Which is the reason why you likely need several art pieces at the required level, to prove it wasn't just some lucky fluke. Though once you're really there, that also means a bit less pressure to perform, since you're likely comfortable at your skill level and can only go up from there.

Your writing is so good, Bless you for existing🙏❤️ I hope you're doing well :] Can I please request Sanji and his girlfriend? (I'm totally projecting here with this) she has shit self-esteem and is always putting herself down? Like, she'll laugh and make fun of herself like it's no big deal, but deep down she just feels ugly and stupid? How would Sanji go about this with her? Sorry this is kind of depressing haha

“And for you, mon amour?”
You two were currently in the kitchen where Sanji began prepping for lunch. He already had a meal planned out for the rest of the crew, but for you, he always asked you specifically what you wanted.
When you’re the chef’s girlfriend, you can expect these special privileges.
You gave him a request of your favorite food and he wasted no time getting to work. You two made small chat in the meantime while he cooked.
“Here you go, my darling” he smiled lovingly at you.
You took your first bite, and you let out a satisfied hum at the flavors eliciting your tastebuds. Sanji’s eyes warmed at the sight of you enjoying his food.
“Amazing as always,” you say as you finish your last bite.
Sanji chuckles, “Thank you my dear, would you like some more?”
“Oh I really shouldn’t,” you shake your head.
“I’ll make as much as you want, just say the word,” Sanji winks at you.
“Your food is dangerous, ya know ” you chuckle, “Imma wind up fatter than I already am if I don’t have some self control.”
Sanji’s smile faded at your words and an awkward silence fell over you two when you realized you were the only one laughing.
You shifted in your seat uncomfortably, unable to read your boyfriend’s expression.
‘Is he upset with me? ‘
‘Did I offend him by not accepting his offer for more food?’
‘God I’m so stupid’
“Y/N,” Sanji said softly, breaking the silence and taking you out of your thoughts.
“Yes?”
“Why do you say such mean things about yourself?” Sanji said concernedly.
Your eyes widened at his words. You wanted to say that it was just a joke and that it didn’t mean anything. But you would be lying, not only to Sanji but yourself if you were to say that.
Sanji had noticed your sly jabs at yourself throughout the conversations you two have shared and every time you did it, you would laugh it off almost like you were poking fun at yourself.
“I-I don’t-“ you fiddled with your fingers, avoiding eye contact with Sanji.
Suddenly you felt the tip of his fingertips at your chin as he lifts your head to meet his eyes.
“Please tell me why,” Sanji said, you could see the sadness in his eyes and you hated that you were the cause of that.
Your eyes shifted, struggling to look him in the eyes as you confess, “I don’t know what you see in me”
Sanji’s head cocked to side slightly, a confused look on his face.
“I’m not pretty like Nami or as intelligent as Robin. I’m not special in any way. I don’t get why you’re even with me,” you could feel your eyes brim with tears as you finally let out what you’ve been holding in for so long.
You suddenly felt yourself against your lover’s lean chest and his toned arms wrapped around you.
“I wish you could see yourself the way I do,” Sanji whispered in your ear.
You could feel the tears stream down your cheeks as you quietly sob in his chest.
“I’ll tell you what I see,” Sanji says, once again lifting your head to meet his loving gaze, “I see a beautiful girl, inside and out, who has completely stolen my heart.”
The thumb of his hand caressed your tear-stained cheek, “ When I’m with you I feel love-“ he pauses to peck your cheek.
“Lust,” he whispers, his lips grazing your ear down to your jawline, a sigh leaving your lips at the subtle contact.
“I feel like the luckiest man in the world, to get to hold you and kiss you like this,” he says, inches away from your face.
Looking in his eyes, you felt every emotion he was feeling and you started to think if someone like him could love you like this, maybe what he was saying wasn’t so hard to believe.
“I love you, Sanji,” you say, bringing your arms to wrap around his neck.
“I love you more, mon amour” he smiles about to lean in before you press a finger to his lips, stopping him in his tracks.
“Flaws and all?” You say with a cocked eyebrow.
“What flaws?” Sanji says cheekily, before capturing your lips in a kiss.

Semi-Quick Witch Tip: Can we please stop overdressing the damn candles?! I know they look pretty, but they are a serious fire hazard (coming from a firefighting witch). I'm here to explain how to do it, in the safest way possible. Firstly, never dress with more oil than needed. Essential oils and oils with specific intentions (money oil, come-to-me oil, protection, etc.) are what you're looking for, if you're learning how to do this. You can make your own - eventually, in time, I will share my recipes friends. Rub it into your fingertips, clap your fingers together a few times to activate the energy, and start rubbing the candle with it. Upwards to attrract/bring in, downwards to banish/bring away from you. Start with two to three drops and see where it gets you, because it usually is the perfect amount for tapers and chimes. Big pillar candles usually need four to six drops. If we're talking tealights, one to two drops is enough. If you've got a glass-encased 7-day candle, do one to two drops on the top and then as you light it each time, put another drop on so the candle is being dressed throughout the burn. Next step for any candle type: sprinkle your herbs onto the candle. Grind them in a mortar & pestle so you don't have large chunks, which isn't safe as they tend to create large flames or sometimes spark. Once they are nice and ground, sprinkle enough to where the candle is lightly coated with the herbs. Trust me, that is enough for your spell. Heavy coating is not necessary. And please, for the love of the gods, do not leave your candle unattended. Ever. I don't care if someone tells you that seven-day candle can't stop burning. Snuff it out and resume when you can be home and alert to your surroundings. Same goes for sleeping. Have I been to calls where candles are the cause of a house fire while someone is sleeping? Absolutely, it's a common cause of fires. Have people died or gotten seriously injured? Yep. It's not worth it. Trust me.
Crystals, whole flowers, charms, and large chunks of herbs should be taken out if you make or purchased a candle that has a lot going on. While these are beautiful, I find them to be better for decoration elsewhere, never to be burned, as you will need to carefully remove these objects by melting the wax first (take a lighter and carefully run over the top). Not to mention, I think the work of the witches that make them deserves to be displayed. Place them onto an altar or shrine dedicated to a deity, spirit, or daemon that you feel would enjoy it.
Please, please, PLEASE practice fire safety. Get yourself a fire extinguisher. Make sure it's not only full, but in date. If it isn't, it's time for a new one. If anyone has questions about how to use one, feel free to drop your comment below and I will answer :) Sand also helps, but know you may need to use a lot and regardless, keep an extinguisher ready. Type ABC is good for the general house since it is multipurpose, and a type K for the kitchen should be in that room as well.
Perhaps I'll do a fire safety post for witches in the future, that way y'all can hear it from a firefighter. In the meantime, please practice fire safety!

Some of you been trying to get in touch lately. That's cool.
If you're just swinging by to say hi and thanks, then what follows doesn't apply to you.
You want me to talk to you though? Some hints and tips (and very common mistakes to avoid) that will increase your chances of an actual conversation or two and from there, who knows.
The best way is to have a blog with some original content. Pics of you, stories, captions, whatever. I'm looking for commitment and authenticity, some skin in the game, some evidence of actual fucking effort. In your message don't just fawn. I don't need that. Be brief, be articulate, be confident in what you like and what you bring to the table and be clear on why you want a place with me, specifically, over any generic black guy or Dom. Job interview etiquette applies and know I get 4 or 5 'candidates' a day. Respect the fact I am a busy guy with a life away from here, several real life submissives, and several more long distance things going on. My girls, gurls and bois are all different, all exquisite, and they all interest me in different ways. It's on you to show me what i'm missing and why I'm going to make time for you. Be a muse, be amusing. Wow me.
So!
If you have an empty blog, don't bother. I'm not interested in lurkers.
If your blog is just reposts of the usual stuff I've seen 100 times before, don't bother.
If you're just going to start contact with 'hey...', don't bother. I'm not interested.
If you're just looking for someone, anyone, to Dom you for the 2 minutes it takes for you to jerk off, don't bother. I'm not a jack off service.
If your blog is full of explicit hard core porn, don't bother - your account will be deactivated soon and you'll probably be disappeared before we start chatting away from here anyway. You don't represent a good ROI of my time. Of the 4 or 5 of you that make contact today, 2 of you will be gone tomorrow, and at least 1 more within the month.
Unless your wife/gf/mom/daughter is hot, living near me and interested in hooking up, I don't care that you wish you could see them suck a cock like a Blacked girl right in front of you. If I can't see it, smell it, hear it, taste it or feel it - if its not actually going to happen on my cock - I don't care.
Outright headcanon fantasists and part-timers who 'don't need to dress up because they can imagine it so well...', hard pass. If I tell you to feminise yourself, take a pic in a certain pose, jerk off a certain way or make a post about something it isn't a question of whether you feel you need to to sustain your little fantasy. It's a question of whether you're going to pay the price of submission to talk to me. If you can't or won't follow simple instruction, then I have no interest in you.
Those of you who confuse sissy with trans, hard pass. Trans women are women. You are not a woman just because you fantasise about being sexually submissive and effeminate around a black man. You're a sissy, a toy, a whiteboi fuckdoll. That's all. If you can't or don't accept that, don't bother.
FLR, ABDL, Gooners: kittens I adore seeing you relinquish your masculinity and pride to roll around in your own shame and filth. But to be clear: these kinks are your weaknesses, not my interests. I cater to you because my mission is to enable every single last one of you whiteboi fucks to become codependent emasculated bottom-feeders of one kind or another, willingly, done by yourselves to yourselves, stripped of the convenient deniability of coercion. I'm fixing to cook and push good quality junk so you can fuck yourselves up, not share the needle. Definitely not looking to change your fucking diapers.
If you clearly haven't read this pinned note, don't bother.
Stay sticky, losers

How many words is too many? I have written over 80,000 words already and don't have a computer to edit properly. I've already decided to split the story among multiple books. But how many should each be? I am aiming for a basic novel to a little bit longer, but as a first-time author, I don't want to write something too long and not get anyone to read it.
Finding Your Story's Target Word Count
"How many words is too many" depends on what you're writing. Every type of story and every genre has a different word count range, and the specific ranges vary depending on who you ask. Here are some general ranges you can target...
Story Type:
Short Stories - 1,000 - 5,000 words Novellas - 20,000 to 50,000 words Novels - 50,000 - 110,000 words Epic Novel - 110,000 words and up (though these are rare)
Age Category:
Middle Grade novels - 25,000 - 40,000 words Young Adult novels - 45,000 - 80,000 words New Adult novels - 60,000 - 85,000 words Adult novels - 65,000 - 110,000
Genre:
Literary novels - 80,000 to 110,000 words Romance novels - 50,000 to 80,000 words Fantasy novels - 90,000 to 110,000 words Mystery novels - 70,000 to 90,000 words
It's important to remember that a book series isn't one long novel chopped up into smaller books. Each book in a series needs to have its own story arc. In other words, a beginning/inciting incident, middle/rising action, and end/climax and denouement. That said, you will need to look at the completed story and identify the natural story arcs that exist within it to figure out where each book should end and the next book should begin.
Something else to consider is your publishing goal. If you plan on pursuing traditional publishing, you might look into writing an in-depth summary of the entire story and working with a developmental editor or book coach to figure out how to best divvy up the story between books. That way, you'll ensure that book one is as strong as it can be, which will increase the likelihood of getting a book deal. After that, if your book sells well enough to warrant the publishing of the next book, you will have some guidance on where to go from there.
If you're planning to self-publish, you can still look into working with an editor or book coach, or even a critique partner, or you can just make the best decision you're able to about how to divide each book. Again, what matters is that each part of the story centers on its own individual story arc.
Something else to consider: if you have a really long story that you want to chop up into pieces rather than individual books, you might look into posting it as a serial on a site like Wattpad, Kindle Vella, Ream, or similar services. Serialization allows you to take a long story and chop it up into sizeable pieces, such as "episodes," and then you don't have to worry so much about dividing it up into books with their own individual story arcs.
One final consideration: Not having the ability to edit properly is not an excuse to publish an unedited work of fiction. No one wants to read an unedited story, even if it's chopped up into pieces. If you want to publish this story, whether online, traditionally, or self-published, you need to find a way to edit it properly and make sure you're putting a tight and polished version of the story out into the world.

Complete Guide : How to looksmax & drastically improve your appearance
Looksmaxing refers to the practice of enhancing one's physical appearance through various methods like grooming, skincare, fitness, etc. It's about YOU and feeling the need to constantly remind yourself that you can be better. In this guide, I’m sharing with you ridiculously specific tips to drastically improve your appearance.
body language
Being beautiful is not only about having big lips and a striking jawline. No, it's about the feeling you give to other people, about your energy. Furthermore, it's about how you have embodied your energy. The only way you can embody this truly, is by accepting your authentic energy.
· make eye contact
· keep your head up
· don’t play with your jewelry
· be extremely, obnoxiously confident
· stand up straight, push your shoulders back slightly and open up your chest
· smile more often, it will make you look more charismatic & happy, so you will appear more attractive, as many say “be happy and you will be beautiful”
diet
Proper nutrition plays a crucial role in transforming your skin from the inside out. By eating a balanced diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, you can help to maintain healthy, glowing skin. You will not only look your best, but also feel your best. Your diet should look like this :
· low carb
· low sugar
· 3L of water daily
· lots of veggies & fruit
· high protein, fibre & potassium
· only eat organic grass-fed meat (for meat)
· 3 Brazilian nuts a day, they improve your skin health & hair health
· ginger shots, a combination of ginger, freshly squeezed lemon juice & water or coconut water. The health benefits of ginger shots include : decreasing inflammation, calming indigestion, and boosting immunity. Keep in mind that ginger shots are meant to be drunk all at once as a quick shot. Be careful not to drink more than one shot a day since too much ginger can cause heartburn.
makeup
· keep it natural, don’t overdo it and remember, less is more
· curl your lashes & mascara (Dior iconic overcurl is my fave mascara!!)
· contour & bronze cheeks (Chanel bronzer 395)
· wear skin tint, NOT foundation. Less is more.
· sublte white highlight on the inner corner (I recommend dior glow palette) DO NOT grab a white pencil and think it does the job. It doesn’t. It will make you look tacky.
· black or brown liner on the upper waterline
· blend your skin tint in with your hand, then go in bak with a damp beauty blender for a flawless finish
· for a natural eye lift effect, draw a line (with a skin coloured pencil) from your outer crease all the way to the temple & blend in a sculpted effect
lashes & brows
Facial harmony is important to the face, and your eyebrows need to work well with all of your face.
For face harmony ask the eyebrow tech this: the eyebrow arch of the eyebrow should be aligned with the upper orbital rim of your eye, reaching it’s highest point slightly lateral to the outer edge of the iris.
For the length the eyebrow should start at a point above the inner corner of the eye and end diagonally from the outer corner of the eye, extending slightly past it.
Also the thickness of the eyebrows should be balanced and in proportion to your facial features.
Ask to maintain thick eyebrows if you do and ask to get it if you don't. Thick eyebrows are good because thicker eyebrows are preferred for a more youthful appearance like you're still in your 20s. Think of an example as Brooke Shields.
Also the distance between the eyebrows should be approximately equal to the width of one eye.
Furthermore the overall shape of the eyebrows should complement your face natural contours, and tell them to take into account your facial structure and features.
Also, your tech needs to be well skilled and knowledgeable to even know these. So I highly recommend going to a very qualified professional in order to get your brows done. At the end of the day, it’s like you’re giving your beauty in their hands. You alternatively do it at home, remember to be precise.
· get fuller brows : brow serum, micro blading, brow pencil, etc.
· grow out your eyelashes with a mix of aloe vera & castor oil (apply as a serum) or use a lash serum (I recommend Latisse)
· dark brows & lashes are more attractive, in order to darken them here’s some advice :
solutions to darken brows & lashes
· brow tint & eyelash tint
· hybrid dye : lasts up to 7 weeks on the hairs & 10 days on the skin
· tint : lasts up to 4 weeks on the hairs & 3 days on the skin
· brow pommade & brow pencil
skin
· in order to achieve your perfect skin tone, eat more carotenoids.
what are carotenoids?
Carotenoids are yellow, orange & red organic pigments that are produced by plants and algae. Carotenoids give the characteristic color to pumpkins, carrots, corn, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, spinach, salmon, shrimp, kale, broccoli, cantaloupe, papaya, mangoes, oranges, bell peppers, watermelon, apricots, tangerines.
(In summary they are brightly colored fruits and vegetables)
So make sure to include these foods into your diet. If you want a shorter list of the foods that are the highest in carotenoids :
spinach, kale, corn, oranges, bell peppers, tomatoes, watermelon, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, broccoli, carrots.
· get custom spray tan
· get laser hair removal (don’t forget to shave before your appointment)
· smile line removal : volufiline
· for clear skin, STOP eating sugar & dairy
· drink CELERY JUICE everyday for glowing skin
· a rich moisturizer, spf & a good diet is all you need
· it is better to get a real tan, not fake tanner
· laser mole removal
· to prevent ageing, you should SPF every single day, never use tanning beds, never smoke, use a retinoid nightly, wash your makeup off & maintain a skincare routine
· stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated help maintain healthy, hydrated & plump skin
lips
Brushing your lips with a toothbrush. Brushing lips with a toothbrush each day can temporarily increase lip fullness. The brushing may stimulate blood circulation in the lips, leading to temporary redness and slight swelling. This increased blood flow can create the appearance of fuller lips for a short period. Brushing the lips with a toothbrush can help exfoliate the surface layer of dead skin cells, promoting smoother and potentially plumper looking lips, removing the buildup of dead skin cells.
· lip liner (love the Charlotte Tilbury liner & MAC lip pencil)
· ombré lips effect
· keep them plump & glossy
· if you want to whiten your teeth I suggest you get professional teeth whitening or use whitening teeth strips (if you have sensitive teeth, make sure to buy the right kind because you risk damaging the area)
get rid of face fat & bloating
Bloating significantly impacts your appeal by concealing the underlying bone structure, which plays a crucial role in defining the contours of your face.
Without well-defined bone structure, your facial features appear less distinct & with a rounder appearance, and it becomes challenging to achieve the desired prominent cheek bone effect.
This is probably the simplest way to get the perfect jawline ; all you have to do is massage your face regularly. A good massage will boost blood circulation and tone your facial structure. Make sure to start massaging from the bottom to the top, to prevent sagging. In case you’re asking yourself if this really works, believe it does. Stay consistent.
Even though you will hear many people say that 5-6 hours of sleep is sufficient for them, it isn’t enough to look your best. Without 8-10 hours of sleep, your body will start looking tired, and your face will look bloated and fluffy.
· avoid SALT & SUGAR & CARBS
Why? Because salt, sugar & carbohydrates each have distinct effects on your body that contribute to bloating. Refined carbohydrates, as well as excessive sugar intake (particularly added sugars that convert into glucose), can cause blood sugar spikes and subsequently lead to bloating. These substances, such as sugar (glucose), have the ability to draw water from your body or hinder its proper absorption.
· eat POTASSIUM (spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, bananas, avocados, spinach, tomatoes, watermelon)
· do intermittent fasting
· rub an ice cube on your skin in the morning, as ice tightens your skin and helps reduce puffiness.
· drink 3L of water daily
It is very important to prioritize the consumption of a substantial amount of water every day. Water plays a vital role in flushing out sodium from the body, effectively reducing sodium levels. Also, water intake helps regulate the body's water balance, preventing unnecessary water retention that can lead to facial bloating and puffiness.
· do face massages
· contour & bronze your cheeks
· mewing : smile with closed mouth and swallow, don’t force your tongue. It’s about keeping your tongue in the correct position at all times. There is also a bunch of videos on YouTube.
IN SUMMARY
· working out
· intermidate fasting and calorie deficit
· drink a ton of water
· try to eat less salt, sugar, carbs
· eat more potassium (bananas, potatoes...)
· rub an ice cube on your skin
hair
· Kerastase shampoo & conditioner and dyson for styling
· when doing a high ponytail or bun, don’t forget to slick back your baby hairs around your ears
· rinse your conditioner with cold water
(locks in the moisture, makes your hair look smooth, shiny & reduces frizz)
· use a scalp massager 5 minutes
(stimulates & exfoliates the scalp)
· do Aloe Vera hair masks
· use homemade rosemary oil
· microfibre towel - dries your hair x2 faster plus it is so much better than a regular towel! Why? Microfibre treats your hair with care to help prevent frizziness
· add coffee to your shampoo (stimulates and exfoliates the scalp). It’s a great alternative to scalp scrubs
· rice water rinse twice a week
body
The ideal waist to hip ratio backed by science is 0.6. The target 0.6 ratio is ideal and is genetic, so don't blame yourself if your natural physique doesn't fit it. Enhancing it to 0.6 requires hard work & surgery, implants if you're not naturally gifted. 0.6 is ideal and 0.7 is average. It's bone structure / genetic, if you're already slim and don't have 0.6 it's not your fault. You can only get the desired (0.6) by surgery or possibly by extreme diet if you don't have it genetically.
Our bodies as women influences the type of men we attract. You attract and get chased by higher quality, financially well and genetically attractive men. It's because slimness is associated with elegance, higher class and higher social status. It also signals good health and youthfulness and that you respect your body enough to keep it healthy.
Capture body images
Take photos from the front, side, and back angles, along with a face selfie. This step is crucial and can serve as a powerful source of inspiration in the future when you feel demotivated or lose interest.
Measure your weight
I strongly recommend stepping on the scale on day one, the day you genuinely embark on your weight loss journey. This will be another significant step as it helps establish your starting point and, as you make progress, serves as motivation to keep going.
Develop a plan
Whether your plan is to follow a diet (ketogenic diet & intermittent fasting), to get a gym membership or to buy a scale : reflect on your goals and determine what you want to achieve such as how much you want to lose weight. You need to make a plan that you can fully commit to. And get it done.
Portion control
Although what you eat does matter, its about how much of it you eat. You’re going to consume smaller portions of whatever food, but make sure your plate is smaller because it’s all about calorie deficit. Also try to limit snacking as such as you can, because it’s not a little bar that’s going to make you any fuller. For 15 minutes maybe, but at at what cost? Eat proper meals (in smaller plates). But if you really have trouble with restricting yourself to a smaller plate I advise you to eat foods that are voluminous but low in calories. For example one cookie (15g) is small & thin, filled with 150 calories. But on the other hand, 1 kg of lettuce is 150 calories. See the difference? Same calories but different amount.

hi nana!! i want to say that i am somewhat new here and that you're my favorite author!! i really like how you write toji specifically, it feels very unique compared to how most people write him and makes me love toji even more! maybe it comes down to a preference, because i am very picky about how people write some chatacters. i am also very happy you're one of the few people who write for shiu and uraume!! i love these two to death, as well as even the slightest the toji&shiu and sukuna&uraume interactions/mentions :D
but but but! i wanted to say that i really admire and look up to your writing, your posts make me inspired everytime and overall you're a very fun person! i hope you never stop writing, you're very good at it >o<
im very sorry this message is getting too long, but i had a few questions.
1. who is the hardest to write for?
2. what character you will (probably) never write for?
3. are there any writing tips you can share? perhaps it's some tips you've got from someone? or maybe tips you figured out yourself?
i'm sending you my best regards :))
thank you so much :( i’m like you and tend to be really picky about how characters are written so i’m very glad i write toji in a way you like <3 AND YESSS uraume is the loml and shiu is a cutiepie so i have to include them in my stuff ^.^
i find myself being rly into unpopular characters and unpopular ships or pairings which i why u see those kinds of characters for me :3
1. believe it or not, geto. i try to make his personality a mix of his student personality and his cannon adult one, but sometimes ill try to imagine what his personality would be like if he didn’t become a curse user so it sometimes gets hard
2. mahito. i never wanna write for him ever, i despise him and rewatching jjk now im realizing i don’t even think he’s attractive at all
3. hmm the only thing i can suggest is to try and drag out intimate scenes and be descriptive in what the characters are doing (overall) so ur readers are never confused on what their position is or where their hands are lol

Hey! I'm back for another pac reading. If you want a personal reading CHECK MY PINNED POST. alot of my readings are 10 dollars are less. You could get a specific and detailed reading for the price of a lipgloss. 《♡》 today's pac is made for singles but if you are in a relationship it may resonate as well. This explores what you my be doing and exploring in the next few months and what energy you're tryng to embrace in your romantic life!
Tumblr media
Pile one
I see here you're gonna be disconnecting from the outer world to take inventory of how you feel about a certain person or situation. You want clairty and movement, and you know that the only way to achieve that is to get clear on what's happening. I'm being shown here that you might be taking a retreat to examine this situation because there are red flags present. If someone is acting in a destructive, controlling or a negative way, you don't have to tolerate it. I think the ultimate outcome from this situation is feeling like you don't have any good options around you when it comes to dating. It may feel like you have to ghost people or that you end up being ghosted. You may feel like youre missing out on amazing experiences but its because youre not fully present with where you are. You may look around and feel like all the good men are taken or that they dont want you. You feel like theres nothing but dry options. Thats not true. Dont end up settling for less because you feel like theres no one else out there. The advice here is to remain in the now, being present in your situation is gonna help you manifest better romantic options and situations in the future.
What's coming towards you》
"Sudden wealth" you're gonna have very lucky encounters with partners, and in life in general. Things are opening up and expanding, I see many of you entering a connection with someone in a different county or culture. Others are gonna be traveling to another country and coming upon a spectacularly wealthy partner. The anchors are coming off and your ship is sailing, it may be dire or dry situations in your love life at the moment but very good things are comming to you. If it's not financial wealth then it's emotional abundance.
If this message resonated you can tip at sarahx2x on cashapp
Pile two
This pile is embracing their inner child energy to become more flexible with their love life. there may be someone or something you really want right now but I see you in the future becoming more curious about where your love life is gonna take you and thus being more receptive to different outcomes. Your spirit guide has influence over your love life at the moment and they're showing me that there are better things coming to you. Being curious, open and perceptive to these new outcomes is key to unlocking them. I feel like many of you have strong expectations about a situation or person that need softening so that you can embrace the energy of your inner child. Some of you need to be cautious of getting pregnant if you're being intimate with others atm.
What's coming towards you》
You may be meeting someone at your job soon. I see you guys being supported when it comes to your occupation AND in your hobbies. But I do see this pile meeting a romantic partner at their job, and specifically where you live in your community. Intuitively I feel like you will have hobbies that you share with this person that you both enjoy. People who chose this pile have a very cute love language of sharing time with their partner, and I see you finding someone like that. If this message resonated you can tip me at sarahx2x on cashapp.
Pile three
I'm seeing here that this pile needs to have patience and release feelings of desperation. There's unrequired feelings here. One person is putting in more energy than they're getting. Don't waste your energy on trying to force something to happen with them, you deserve better and can spend your energy on manifesting a person who's gonna naturally be prepared to give you what you want right now. I know this message is harsh. If it doesn't resonate this probably isn't the pile for you. But if you chose this pile please keep in mind that someone's lack of intrest in you is not a reflection of your worth. Love will not pass you by. non action and stillness in a situation is ok and it happens to everyone. you can manifest a person who's not gonna be stagnant and leave you wondering if they truly like you back or not. Some of you may be continually assuming that someone doesn't like you when they actually do, but because you keep assuming they don't like you you're actually manifesting stillness in the connection. This is not for everyone
What's coming towards you 》
For what I pulled I got "wealthy man, gift" GIRL if the previous message made you sad or even angry this should dry your tears. I see you encountering a well off man who's gonna be treating you with a gift. Sugar daddy energy for some of you. A rich man is gonna wanna spoil you in your romantic life soon.
If this message resonated you can tip at sarahx2x on cash-app

Hello!
I would like to ask if there's already a post a long the lines of "Why Rosegarden is a good ship" or reasons to ship RG? If none would it be alright to ask for your insights?
It's my first time being interested in them but I just can't wrap it around my head for now. I would love to read about them!
Thank you in advance ^^
Hi Anon!
I have not yet made any posts specifically with these questions in mind, no. Just a small, unfinished, series about why I believe the ship is likely to be canon. I am happy to offer some insight, but I don't know that I'm going to give you the answers you're looking for. 😅
First and foremost, the questions you're asking aren't really ones that can be answered objectively. What makes a ship "good" or "bad" is largely subjective, as there are as many ways to view a ship as there are people viewing it. I could make an argument about how I think it is - objectively speaking - a well written pairing that follows the typical beats and tropes (with delightful subversions) of a good romance arc, that also parallels how other canon ships within RWBY have been established... but at the end of the day, if you're not a fan of what RG is about, then there's not much I can say to change your mind.
Which brings me to your second question. The best reasons to ship RG are going to be the same reasons for why anyone should ship anything: ship it if you want to, ship it if it resonates with you, and ship it if you enjoy it.
If their characters, interactions, themes, parallels, allusions, tropes, symbolisms, foils, designs, messages, etc., aren't your cup of tea, it's completely okay if you pick something else on the menu! So long as you don't like. verbally harass people that do like it or fill the tag w the same discourse that we are all very tired of seeing.
I don't know if that is a sufficient answer to your question, so I'll take a chance and also provide some of my personal reasons as to why I think it's "good" and why I ship it. While there are many reasons I can't all include, the main things are just how much they mirror each other:
From their complementary character designs (red vs. green, silver vs. gold, moon vs. sun, etc.),
To shared fairytale allusions (Little Prince and the Rose, Dorothy and Princess Ozma/Tip, Warrior in the Woods, etc.),
To the narrative parallels (both being the youngest of the group when they joined respectively; how both of their attachments to each other keep being put into focus; to their shared themes around choice and identity: Ruby having chosen adventure but feeling as if she has no choice but to keep moving forward, while Oscar was chosen by adventure but chooses to do what he can despite his circumstances; Oscar not knowing who he is because of the merge and asking: "I'm just going to be another one of his lives, aren't I?", versus Ruby not wanting to be who she is after chasing the the ghost of an unachievable ideal, but being asked "what if you could be anyone?"; how they're both just kids thrown into war and unfair responsibility before they even have a chance to figure out the kinds of people they want to be, etc.),
to perhaps, most importantly, the show of mutual support between the two of them.
Ruby supports everyone as best she can. She is always giving to and supporting others as a show companionship and leadership. But thanks to V9 and also E4 of RWBY Beyond, we know this was not sustainable or sufficiently reciprocated.
She was let down by Weiss who constantly managed to hit her right in her insecurities; let down by Blake who - even while trying to uplift her - just ended up adding more pressure by treating Ruby like a role model; to Yang and Qrow who both tried to support her as best they could, but kept comparing her to Summer in the process; to Penny having so much of her own lack of experience, stressors, and very immediate worries going on that she couldn't offer Ruby the support she needed even if she wanted to; to Jaune flipping his lid at her and pointing the blame even when he himself was guilty and knew he was out of line; to Ozpin, Qrow, Maria, Tai, Summer, Cordovin, Ironwood, etc., all being adults who could have taken responsibility or done the right thing, but fumbled or failed leaving her to pick up the pieces in their wake. But Oscar? We see it from Oscar's introduction that he - like their shared fairytale allusions - is in awe from the moment he meets her. But after one conversation about the weight of her grief, trauma, and the responsibilities she is carrying - a conversation she has not had with anyone else up to this point - he immediately sees how heavy Ruby's burdens are. Saying, as early as V5: "This must be really hard on her too". And while it is subtle, he never stops looking after her as best he can as the volumes go onward ("Looks like you're needed elsewhere."/"You're sure?"/"Yeah, I've got it."). However, it's only in V9 that her sister Yang is asking "why didn't she just talk to us?". It is only in V9 when her partner Weiss admits: "Maybe it's because she didn't feel like she could". It is only V9 when Ruby finally lays her burdens out to someone else again, this time to the Blacksmith, after almost having given up completely.
For a character who's 116 episode long arc has been about carrying the weight of responsibility far beyond her limits, never asking for anything in return no matter how difficult it gets... to meet another character that instantly notices her struggles and makes a conscious effort to help where all others have failed? To have one conversation and say "that looks heavy, let me help you carry that" without her asking or waiting for an answer? It's just one of the most beautiful acts of care I can think of. The themes and the parallels all resonate very strongly with me on a personal level, making it - in my humble opinion - a brilliant, and very stable foundation for a relationship, and for a story.
Thank you for your question, I hope I was able to offer some of the insight you were looking for. 💕

do you have any tips for speaking to/reaching out to recruiters? i'm looking for new grad roles and ppl keep telling me to but i don't even know where to start or find any and all the articles online are so intimidating
Tumblr media
Hiya 💗
The people are right, it's one of the best ways to put yourself out there! Oh, this is going to be a long one~!
Tumblr media
I'll share tips from my own experience, this might help you, this might because I did it any other way but this:
I applied to a bunch of jobs: like for 5 days straight I was just apply just for the sake of it. The more jobs, the more recruiters have my CV/Resume in their database. I recommend LinkedIn the most as it's super easy to drop a message to the recruiter.
Applied to jobs that I had 50%+ chance of getting a call to: Obviously this means apply to jobs where you have the skills and the experience (work or in building projects etc). I say this because say they do call you but they ask you if you have this certain tech stack and you say no... end of call really. So, for me, I had like 2 or 3 things they were asking for in a candidate so I got through to the calling stage!
LinkedIn is actually your friend, don't be afraid: During my random job searching and whilst I was in my job, I had recruiters message me about job opportunities. Why? Because of my profile. You need to have your LinkedIn vamped up, check mine out for reference (click the LinkedIn icon). But make sure to have your skills e.g. About > Top skills, your work experience (paid or volunteer) and any certificates you have! If you're brave, not like me, start posting on there for a while.
LinkedIn again but Connections: Oh my days please follow people, even if you don't know them personally. I have 300+ connections (not to brag) but I only know like two handful of the people, the rest are of people who connect with people who I follow, I have met like 5 recruiters through this way.
Actually message the recruiters???: Okay so you followed the people, your CV/Resume is done and dusted and now you're ready to message those recruiters! In my case, I had more recruiters message me than the other way round only because I'm shy hehe so I wait for them to make the first move. They would probably send a whole message about the new job that have posted and see if you're interested and then, if you like the job, you can say "Yes please" or whatever is the appropriate reply is, and then they will send further information or arrange a phone call! If you want to message them first, I would find them more after applying for a job on LinkedIn, they usually add the recruiter in the job posting as a way for people to message them.
DO NOT FEEL AFRAID IN MESSAGING RECRUITERS: I say this because a) imagine 100 people apply for the job, only 5 would message the recruiter (I don't know if the stats are right, I just remembered that from bootcamp-) because everyone else is too afraid to do it! Missed opportunity! b) recruiters actually want people to message them. Now in terms of what to write to them? I don't know really. I would always go for the classic "don't repeat what's on your resume", they're going to read it anyways, so just talk a bit about your experience and skills A BIT like
"Hello/Hi, my name is [name]. I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to express my strong interest in the [Job Title] position at [Company Name], for which I recently submitted my application. I'm enthusiastic about the opportunity to join [Company Name] and contribute to [mention something specific you find appealing about the company or role, if possible]. I believe my skills and experience align well with the requirements of the position. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the possibility of discussing my qualifications in more detail. Best regards, [name]
No hire, don't be sad: Even if they don't hire you, or go through the next stages, keep in touch by even asking questions about what's on the market/what's new, how you could do better for other jobs you want to apply to that were similar to the ones you failed at. They could point you to the right direction! One recruiter said she wanted me to have more projects I was passionate about online like on GitHub or GitLab, even if they were "silly" projects - at the time, I didn't have much projects online so it made sense! See, I took that advice and now I'm a project making machine (a bit)! Advice they give sticks forever!
Tumblr media
Remember, reaching out to recruiters and applying for jobs is a numbers game. The more applications you submit, the better your chances of landing interviews. I really hope this helps and I didn't make too many spelling mistakes! This is all of the things I could note down from the top of my head!

First of all I want to say that I love your art and I really admire it. It has kind of make me want to go back to drawing again. I used to draw a lot a few years ago but I stopped because I became unhappy with my progress. Now I want to go back to making art but I'm insecure about it because I'm worried I'm too old to start again (I'm 19) and whether I'm capable of relearning it properly. Do you have any tips about where to begin to learn art basics (specifically anatomy)? I would appreciate any advice.
Hello!!! Firstly thank you so much for the compliments, it really does mean so much <333
I'm nineteen, too! Of course you can start art again. I've taken a lot of breaks in between my own art, too, and it's only very recently that I started enjoying making art again (after .... like.... a year or two. lord) so I really do understand how you feel. But we're nineteen years young, and have so much time ahead of us to get back on our feet.
In my experience, improving comes quickest when you focus on one very specific skill at a time—and I mean SPECIFIC. Practicing gestures with torsos only, the muscles of the upper arm, skeleton heads in different angles. I've been studying arm anatomy (and only arm anatomy) recently, and I'm already miles ahead of how I used to draw arms in the past.
If you want a specific step by step on how I personally draw anatomy, I don't mind sharing a quick tutorial! But for general advice—form follows gesture, and gesture follows movement. The biggest mistake someone can make while drawing a body is focusing on the accuracy of the muscles/bones before getting the flow of the gesture down.
Even if the anatomy looks a bit wonky with the gesture, it's important that you capture the movement of the pose first, and then build muscle on top of that. Proko on Youtube has a very good quick drawing series on this, and explains it way better than I do, but that's the gist of it.
Also, PLEASE always use references! I know that hearing that gets old, but it's really important. If you'd like, I can make a quick tutorial on how to use references properly, too. Reference everything—pose, lighting, even art style if you're looking to switch things up (i have about 10 different tabs open on my computer with different artists I admire so I can reference their art religiously).
Speaking of referencing art styles, it's important to gather a bunch of artists you like in terms of style, and not just one. The trick is to separate them by skill—"this artist is for lining refs", "this artist is for anatomy refs", "this artist is for face refs", etc, etc.
And to jump off of That: I find that with anatomy, looking at other peoples' anatomy studies on pinterest is also very helpful. Obviously you should be referencing from real life too, but with art, it can be difficult to pin down what to put on the page and what to leave to the imagination. You wouldn't want to actually draw every single muscle in the arm individually, right? So I go and look at other artists' anatomy studies to see what they keep and what they don't keep.
(usually i find them on pinterest, and they look smth like this. the color coded ones especially help me.)
Tumblr media
I'd recommend learning gesture and anatomy first, then building off of that to learn how to draw faces, then lining/coloring, just so that you have a solid base to work off on when it is finally time to color. (also because coloring/lighting requires a fair bit of how body anatomy works as well!!)
But yes, that's all the advice I can give from laying in my bed. I hope it helped somewhat, and if you'd like tips on how to do something more specific, I'm always willing to draw it out or go more in depth ^^ Best of luck on your art journey!
