yes i did make a tumblr purely because i did not see enough discussion about the relationship that is fearnechetney yes i did do that. the tag is dry and it bothers me because it’s easily top three favorite dynamics of bells hells for me. 
oh so you have a really gorgeous, mischievous, hundred year old six foot tall faun who likes to steal stuff that is so cool oh and what if i told you that the number one character that is making moves on her is a three foot tall four hundred year old werewolf gnome that makes wooden toys, and WHAT IF i told you that she is totally into it. 
and maybe you’re like oh that’s interesting! okay so what, is it just a joke or something? well, yes at first it is! it’s a game of chicken, of flirting and poking fun at each other hahaha oh WAIT but then it’s MORE.
it’s chetney talking about how much joy it brings him to see people play with his creations, getting to see fearne play with multiple wooden toys he made (dorian’s ship, her wolf, her dolls). it’s chetney being the one to first find out fearne’s postcards aren’t real, and gently asking her questions about them instead of giving it to her bluntly, because it would have hurt her to know the truth. it’s chetney using CLOTH to make fearne little dolls for her to use to vent her frustration. chetney reminding fearne to ask morri about her parents, because it had been bothering her so much.
it’s fearne telling chetney the wooden wolf is maybe her favorite thing she owns, when she has so many things. it’s fearne trusting chetney with the one thing her parents left her, letting him hold it and inspect it. it’s fearne reassuring chetney after he wolfed out that they all had problems. it’s fearne gripping onto the net that chetney is trapped in, holding on and defending him from the hunter. and when she casts stoneskin, which only requires touch, she chooses to kiss him.
a lot of people have insinuated that fearnechetney is one sided, or just a joke, or anything but a romance, but i disagree. i think it started as a joke for sure, but as the episodes progress, it feels more and more like these two characters really care about each other, and understand each other. and the idea that the ship is one sided is so strange to me, because fearne has actively flirted back with chetney since the beginning. fearne got up at 3 AM to wait outside his door, fearne chose to kiss him to cast stoneshape, and fearne was the one that held onto the net and told the hunter to fuck off. i think writing off their dynamic/relationship as a joke just because you don’t ship it does both characters a big disservice when we talk about their growth and how they’ve come to care about one another.

More Midoaka thoughts...
Call this a headcanon or not but either way, I was thinking again about Midoaka's dynamic and how Akashi kinda gives off that irritating but clever younger brother vibe when he's around Midorima.
One instance I can think of is that time when they were playing shogi back in Teiko and when Akashi was about to win the game he was like "By the way, Shintarou..." as if he was about to point it out and Midorima was like "Shut up, I concede."
There were other moments (in the NG Shuu) where Akashi was spending too much time finishing a game of shogi and Midorima asked how long he was going to take and Akashi was like "An hour? Just wait for a bit." Or that time when Midorima is like "Give me my scissors back" and that it was kinda crazy what he just did with them (referring to almost stabbing Kagami) and Akashi just looks at him with this put-out expression like "you mean (what I did to) my hair...?" and both times Midorima was at a loss for what to say.
There was even a time during the Drama CD when Kuroko was supposed to introduce the basketball club during lunchtime announcements and Akashi gave him some "countermeasure" memos that essentially threw all the other GoM including Midorima under the bus for the sake of leaving an impression.
Basically what I'm trying to get at is that in all of these instances (and also no matter which personality is in control), Akashi kind of has a thing for deliberately pushing Midorima's buttons because he can and because it's probably funny to him. And since Midorima is older, that's why I said Akashi reminds me of an irritating but clever younger brother in that regard.
It kind of adds to their competitive dynamic because Midorima does everything in his power to achieve success while Akashi doesn't have to try too hard. That's why it infuriates Midorima that despite all his precautions with Oha Asa and the rituals/routines he does every day, he would still come second in academics to Akashi, whose study methods are quite literally just "if you memorize everything the first time you don't have to study as hard".
These micro-competitions they had in Teiko are more of friendly fire because they didn't sour their dynamic in any noticeable way, but it's just interesting to see how all of this plays into how they interact with each other. It's almost like this dynamic they had gave Akashi an outlet to be a bit more loose? If that makes sense. Idk, I just always noticed that with Midorima, he seemed to speak and behave a lot more casually. Maybe because Midorima understood Akashi more and also knew more about Akashi's family life than the others, Akashi felt comfortable putting down at least some of his walls when it was just them two.
So I'd like to think that around Midorima, Akashi slips more into that sort of endearingly bratty little prince role and Midorima indulges him all the time.
Anyway, this is getting long, so I'll stop talking, but I just wanted to put some observations out there.

Tim&Danny Twins au
Just an idea. I can't write a story to save my dog's life. Can someone come to take it out of my hand? (the idea, not my dog, go away)
Kon is heartbroken after Tim has a boyfriend (Bernard). He travels (soul searching and shit) and meets Dani, and like, becomes friends with her. Maybe they tell each other they're clones. Maybe Dani senses something. After months of knowing each other, Dani introduces Kon to team Phantom as her clone friend and Kon gets to meet Phantom who looks just like Tim. But he's dead? Does Tim have a dead twin he doesn't know about? He's not telling Tim though, he's a teenager with feelings and it hurts too much thinking about Tim rn. His gut also tells him he's gonna mysteriously disappear if he babbles.
After many visits to Amity Park, Kon slowly develops feeling for Phantom but not pursuing him because he thinks he'll do Tim and Phantom a disservice, repleacing one with another (not quite true Phantom pulls him in at first bc he looks dead tired like Tim after tearing through four cases in three days (still sharp and competent but needs some rest), but they have their own charms). Danny's still unsure about letting an outsider into Amity Park's and his own business. Team Phantom isn't worried though. They went through Kon's life story after the first time Dani showed up with him. Some (Jazz) thinks Kon's gonna be good for Danny, some (Sam, Tuck) aren't that optimistic but placate with the knowledge that he has weakness and if push comes to shove, they can take him. Despite being the first to acknowledge their friendship, even Dani isn't above overshadowing Kon if he becomes a threat to Danny and Danny's.
They end up setting up a date for Kon and Phantom and with Danny's luck, it becomes their first team-up against a horde of ghosts on another ghost-steroid Jack tries to create to weaken the ghosts but fails. While spliting his focus to keep Kon from being overshadow, Phantom's human identity gets exposed in front of Kon. "Wait. You're alive?" "Eh, yes. But also no." They go on another date after this. With Danny as human and all. I don't know where they go but they really enjoy themselves, being all lovey-dovey (as much as two smartasses with existential crisis can be, that is). Somehow Bernard runs into them (can be literally, can be just seeing from afar). I don't know where to go from here, a timbern drama seems to be a logical leap but I want to add some conspiracy theorist!Bernard to this too. "Conner's tricked by Tim's evil clone from a shadow organization! I have to tell Tim!" (the irony alone...) Or something. IDK.
Eventually the truth comes out that they're twins and the plot proceeds like the usual twins au. I have no brain juice left y'all. The most important thing is the feels between Kon and Danny though. And Kon/Danny and Timbern drama (i.e. Danny feels inadequate, Kon's afraid Danny's gonna think Kon deceives him, Tim with his "I hAve a TwIn alL AloNg? WhY diD I haVe tO be AloNe All my cHilDhOod tHen???" breakdown, and Bernard's "Kon liked Tim? Am I the third party that broke their relationship?")
Batman is not (much of) a paranoid jacka*s here. Or maybe bc he's no screen time lol. Maybe he can shut down GIW for Danny, as a treat.

I read somewhere that Tristan (Bruces actor) is like 5'5 so like since Brady (Vances actor) is almost the same height as him so I'd like to assume Vance is pretty much is the same height maybe shorter so here's this lmao

Vance and you have been friends through social media because of some cocky thing he had said on an app and when it found you, you decided to say something though it had nothing to do with you, you decided it would be funny to see how he'd respond.
So from then on you two continued to "bully" eachother or just tease a little but after around two weeks of nonsense you added eachother, both not going a day without talking since then. Due to you guys living in different states though, you've never seen one another in real life, but as soon as you got your first vehicle at 17 you decided your first big trip should be to Denver where your good, old dear pal, Vance was at, you didn't tell him though and truth be told you didn't know what to expect he never wanted to face time you, you knew he was your age though, because what type of weird middle aged man say they're 5'5? And he would show you pictures of him beating his personal high scores in pinball, but you did add him not knowing he was the school "bully" however he seemed to be nice to you, plus you'd stay there too short of a time to really know the reputation he built in his hometown.
So as you got closer to your designated spot you began to ask Vance a tad bit too many personal questions about where he hangs out the most at, and where he lives so he soon got suspicious and began connecting the dots from when you told him 3 weeks ago that you got your driver's license to when you said your parents got you a car as to when you said what his reaction would be if you drove to Denver to meet him and to now when you wouldn't stop spamming him questions along the lines of "do you live in a big neighborhood or?". So yeah your surprise was a bit of a fail but here you were now at a convenient store with a worn out logo up front, 'grab n go' and surprisingly to anyone else but you he bought all the stuff you picked out.
You couldn't lie about the fact that you felt people staring at you two inside the store, you thought maybe he was popular here, maybe that explains why they're staring at him, but if he was popular why would everybody shuffle a little further away from the both of you each step yo- he took. You didn't care too much to dig into it further as you guys left but you did end up asking him.
"Are you popular here or something Vance, because you never told me that."
"Eh, I suppose it's something like that"
"Huh?" "Doesn't matter here lets go up that hill over there" "okay!"
As you made your way up the hill he pointed at earlier, you asked if he could show you the pinball machine he always uses or if he could show you how to play, you already know to play but you wanted him to show you how he plays because if he could best his high score every time he must be doing something very right. "we already passed it y/n"
"what, where we only went to that old store down there- oh, oh was it over at the corner crowded by everybody" "mhmm"
"so I assume it's hard to get a chance to play, right?"
"Not necessarily a problem for me, I mean it basically has my name all over it but maybe for other people" "wow"

"You know I expected you to be a bit taller Vance, yeah you told me your height but I thought maybe you were exaggerating like you knew you were short but wanted to get the point across so you lowered the numbers a bit,"
"That makes no sense y/n, literally, what part of that was logical to you" he rolled his eyes at you.
"Hey, you don't get to make fun of me, atleast I can reach the top shelf at libraries" you knew you were exaggerating he most likely could reach it just fine but just like the first time you both talked to eachother you wanted to see how he'd respond.
"I so can reach the top shelf we're legit the same size" he replied feigning offense in his voice or maybe he was offended you couldn't really tell "you probably wouldn't know if you could or not, it's not like you've ever touched a book anyway." As he was about to snap back you grabbed one of his candies, stood up and held it high standing on your tippy toes and extending your arm as far as it can go, you knew he could pretty much reach it if he really tried because as mentioned you were pretty much the same height but he seemed to be struggling

"Holy cow your short Vance"
"Shut up stop saying that, I just don't want to hurt you, stop making my height a bigger deal than it is"
"Ill pray for you to grow Vance, don't you worry" you gave him his wrapped candy back.
"Geez so generous thank you, humble friend" he had a sarcastic tone to it while letting out an annoyed sigh as he finished. "You're so welcomed, Vance" you said having the biggest smile on your face. You wanted to enjoy the few days you'll be staying and what other way to do that than to annoy good ol' Vance Hopper.

Someone needs to make a proper analysis about that Vegas Pete teaser - I would eat it up...
When I was watching it for the first time I actually didn't realize that those were flowers in the bath? I don't know why but looking at Vegas's arm while he's touching Pete I legit thought that was a torn on his arm... It might sound stupid but idk, my brain just went, "oh they created smtg like torns and put it on his body???? that's dope"
But aside of that, their behavior in the teaser is just... *chef's kiss* Vegas being rough at first and the changing his touches to almost gentle ones and Pete's harsh breathing, the way he's absolutely eating it up like a starved kitten, no matter what he's given, whether it's Vegas grabbing him by throat or worshipping his face with his hand... I will shut up now.
It's a hard one for me to analyze because there's so, so little there. And everything is just body language which is maybe not my strong point all the time?
But it is absolutely gorgeous.
Especially when you add the Pete-specific teaser to it and see him brokenly entering the weapon room and just weeping into his hands... the two paired, themed red and blue, pain and agony and wine and weapons and a hand on his throat but a thumb on his cheek it's just so much.
There's so much and yet so little in that preview and I'm sure someone who isn't me has written a much better analysis of what we were shown.
But what were shown truly does illustrate Vegas and Pete together.
Vegas calm, with his wine, in a dark bathtub with a messy floor, barely glancing at anyone. The man, the snake, the monster... we've seen him manipulate everyone, we've seen him work different angles... but this is the only time we've seen him in his own place, in a place where he is control. He's calm, cool, collected, sipping his wine.

This is Vegas as he wants to be, Vegas as he would be if he had the power he wished he did. This is Vegas in control.
And then he crawls his hand up Pete's chest. Pete watches and Pete never, ever looks away as he crawls his hand up his chest in a parody of compassion and love to a chokehold. He isn't trying to be nice yet. He's teasing, he's mocking Pete.

But then he smiles. And Pete smiles. They smile at each other, neither one truly happy but they smile nonetheless. Vegas smiles in power and in certainty and Pete smiles because he smiles. That is what he does. You can see the pain in his smile but he still smiles. He still smiles. Pete laughs as Vegas smiles and they look at each other, they stare at each other.

And then Pete's smile fails... but instead of that bringing Vegas joy, it hurts him just as much. Vegas' smile falls and collapses and he doesn't understand it. He's so lost as to why Pete's smile fading isn't bringing him pleasure. And Pete closes his eyes. The smile fades when Pete finally closes his eyes.
The first time Pete looks away from Vegas and the first time we see Vegas take no pleasure in this.

And that's when the chokehold turns into a caress instead. Vegas shifts from hurting Pete to caressing him, to touching him, and Pete leans into that newer touch. He doesn't reject the caress. He doesn't turn away or stay still. He leans in, he turns, he is caressed and he does not shy away.

This is Pete's power. And when he opens his eyes again? The caress is gentle and he's truly leaning into the touch, seeking out the gentleness that Vegas is showing him. He looks at him and the caress continues, gentle, soft, full of love.

And then they meet each other's eyes. And this time, the watching is reciprocated. This time Vegas is watching Pete with the same sense that Pete has been watching him.

this fic means so so much to me and I'm so glad that I finally got it published, but also that I ended up publishing it like this, like I definitely could have added more but I think it would have ended up kind of bloated, and it's already such a huge fic 😅😅 the vignette style makes me feel like I'm getting snapshots of the important moments while still getting the sense of the reader having a life between scenes, and the rest of the dsmp plot still going on around them
I mean this so genuinely, WIPS are always In Progress, I never forget a fic, I still reread what I have of my Mafia!Corpse AU from 2019 and wonder what I should add next, same with the other like, 20 drafts I have. 😅😅 I hope they all get published eventually, but I feel very lucky to have come back to this and recognise that it's good enough to put out there ☺️☺️
but OKAY I WANNA TALK ABOUT THE READER'S RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALL THESE FUCKING CHARACTERS BECAUSE THEY MAKE ME YELL !! im making this into it's own post because i literally wrote so much just talking about the reader and dream and i have so much to say about them and Q and WILBUR and i'll tag u xx i LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND I LOVE THIS FIC IT STILL MAKES ME FERAL

Lol there's two anon eve asks!! Which is great cause that means more people are watching the show (I'm the first anon who sent the one about rael and eunpyeong)
But I realized I didn't say everything I wanted to cause is it just me or do I REALLY not like yoongkyeong. Like idk I just really don't like that man's face?? I also don't think he's phenomenal as an actor, I've literally seen him make 1 expression this entire time aksjsjd. Especially since he's up against two stunning actresses? I mean yes we hate sora but you have to admit the actress is doing an amazing job, especially with her meltdowns this last episode.
And speaking of amazing actresses, I cannot shut up about seo yeji. Rael is SUCH a complex and interesting character because even though it's a revenge story (which has been down hundreds of times) yeji is perfectly balancing the confidant and traumatized parts of her character. We see her fail in her plans when yoonkyeong rejects her (twice!!) but she's always able to come back around. Idk it's so hard to explain
Also … I thought we were gonna have more confirmation about what happened to Rael that night. Honesty I have a theory that she was raped, but the show hasn't confirmed that yet. I don't wanna say I hope she was because that's such a horrible thing, but it really would add to her trauma and there's some signs (her first reaction after seeing the dude who beat her father being a panic attack, the deal with her husband that he doesn't touch her when she's vulnerable, and her self harm habit on her thighs is often done by sexual abuse victims)
And last but not least, these last two episodes really gave me faith in rael ending up with eunpyeong. Rael has expressed many times that she's uncomfortable with bedding him, and only in it for the revenge. Plus there was SO MANY scenes with eunpyeong where he was either watching her or caring for her, their romance makes so much more sense because literally he would fall for HER, where yoonkyeong is falling for seonbin. Also rael and eunpyeong have wayyy better chemistry
Did we also see boytoy these episodes??? I didn't think he was the same as yoonkyeongs driver that sora fucked on her birthday, but if we was I'm just blind. I miss mr toy and I hope he's doing ok 😭
i'm getting so many asks right now and i have to get ready for my brother's graduation so excuse me if this is a bit rushed dksjsl
no but for real i actually looked up that actor because i was like did he act in anything substential or highly rated cause his acting is so underwhelming it's crazyyy. but then again this could be blamed on the director for directing him to act like this. he's definitely being outacted.
i'm not going to comment much on yeji, she's a great actress i'll give her that, she really does bring that dangerous femme fatale role extremely well and it suits her so much.
i didn't actually think of that but that could be true like every time she sees that guy she has a very visceral reaction and has a panic attack almost every time so maybe something else happened besides her dad getting killed.
she said she doesn't like to sleep with the enemy but i kinda got the impression that she's rushing things so much suddenly because she's afraid she'll feel compassion and fondness for him if she keeps delaying it so she has to strike now. rael being vulnerable and crying in front of eunpyeong while he was hugging her did give me a bit of hope and he already indicated that he has feelings for her ("my heart beats for you") so i'm really hoping they're going to go in that direction

Oh yeah Wilson is definitely right, but here's the thing: House knows this too. He just... doesn't want it to be true hence he avoids dealing with the issue. (which evolves into a working mechanism over time to the point of him barely having to actively think about it) All of this actually leans into a whole other dimension which is the nature of House's leg pain in general (is it purely physical? is it psychological? is it phantom pain?). There are a couple of instances throughout the show where we kind of get a closer look at the possible solution to this dilemma, but it's never clearly resolved which is done purposely. (and quite masterfully, if I may add, but I'll shut up about that cause I don't wanna spoil you!) It's not that House can't solve the puzzle that's his own mind, it's that he doesn't want to. Which is why he's forced to do it by none other than his own mind (oh god the human brain. let me take a breath. 😵💫😵💫😵💫) several times throughout the course of the show. And that's when he's faced with a difficult realization: you stay in your own mind too much -> you risk losing it which manifests in that reality vs imagination dance the show does so well. It's real if the brain tells you that it's real. AND THIS is where primarily Wilson, but also Cuddy (tho it's a bit different with her because she's more similar to House than she lets on) come in. It's the two of them that represent House's connection to the real world which, most of the time, he isn't too thrilled about. And why is that? Because he cares about them. Which makes him dependent on them and that ultimately makes him dependent on the real world. (the cane symbolizes that dependence as well! so do his team(s) who are essential to his case-solving, but Wilson and Cuddy are more about emotional dependence which is why I'm leaving the other stuff for some other post) And that's why the truth and his cases and solving the puzzle are so freaking important to him. If he HAS to be dependent on the real world, he also has to make it make sense, make it mean something, make life worth it. It is, and I know House would hate me for saying this (precisely for how true it is. me? wilson-blogging? never.), all about hope really. It's all about hope. In whatever cruel, twisted way it presents itself in. (check. this. out.)
Now, let's go back to what Allison says to House in s1: "the world doesn't disappear just because you want it to". Oh wait... isn't that... that's right:

And it's no coincidence that it's Cuddy, one of two valuable connections to the world he hates, that tells him that. And it's no coincidence that later on, House admits that he needs both Wilson and Cuddy. (+ when he first mentions the lyric, he doesn't mention the second part. he doesn't want to think about it or assign any importance to it) Idk man, the whole show circles back to that one line. So we all know how dallas died at the end because johnny died and he thought that johnny was the only one who loved him/ how he loved Johnny (platonicly)
Now idk if you ever watched banana fish its an anime, so if you haven't and want to then don't read the next part (if you do want to watch it look up the tws for it) if you don't care for spoilers then please keep reading
The main character ash dies at the end. He dies because he thinks that it would be better for enji so he wouldn't put him in danger. But also because he believes he isn't good enough for enji. So he dies.
They die for opposite reasons mostly
Dallas dies because he thinks Johnny was the only one who loved him who would love him. While ash dies because he loves enji and didn't want to put him in danger. But one thing they have in common is that they both didn't think they were goos enough to keep living. For both of them dying was for them peaceful.
Idk this was a dumb analysis I did on two very different pieces of media that do not relate to each other in the slightest but I thought was interesting.
i haven't watched it but i've read the original story 😭 it's obviously not incredibly similar but i'll definitely add it to my list of things to watch :D
as i haven't watched it, I can't offer much thought on that part of your analysis, but I agree with your analysis of Dallas's death. It was peaceful for him, even if he did it out of sadness, because he didn't have to worry about anything anymore, he wanted an out and he got one. I'm sure that he knew he'd die young, he was always purposefully getting into fights and causing trouble with the law (more on this later), and I have to assume that he knew he couldn't outrun his fate forever. Dallas sees the good of the world in Johnny, and doesn't in himself. He knew that if the last shred of goodness he saw in the world was gone, that he couldn't carry on anymore. He knew he couldn't contribute the same level of purity and goodness to the world, so he chose to take himself out of it. I think this has a lot to do with what I posted about earlier, about how he's not cold or unfeeling because he doesn't care, but that he's cold and unfeeling because he cares too much.
Clearly, something happened when he was living in New York, something big, and I think it was the first and only time he'd shown any sort of vulnerability. and it backfired on him. He didn't have the emotional support that he needed in that time, and therefore didn't have anyone telling him to get back up and dust himself off, as most of us do when we experience loss or trauma. So, because no one was there to help him through it, he didn't get through it. It hung over his head for the rest of his life, and he let it rule his entire personality. He stopped feeling things, because he never wanted to be as sad as he was that day/period of time ever again. self-preservation was the only way he could survive, but it wasn't out of genuine distaste for the world, it was just because he was so hurt by whatever happened to him while he was still developing, and decided to never feel that way again. I am a huge advocate for the idea that he's not an ass, he's just depressed. Now, of course, he acts like an ass, a lot, but I don't think that's all there is to him. His behavior, that self preservation and numbness is textbook depression, all he wanted was to never break again. Ponyboy observes Dallas as tough, but I perceive him as broken. You can't break something that's tough, but you also can't break what's already broken. He just manages to bury his feelings so deep inside of him that no one thinks they exist anymore, and maybe they don't.
this leads me to my next point, on how i think the only reason he got into all of the trouble that he did was to feel something. He'd shut off his emotions for so long, tried so hard to never feel sad again, that he couldn't come back from it. He went too far, instead of never feeling sadness again, he never felt anything again. He was truly numb, and he realized this, and desperately wanted to feel something again. Which is why I think he caused so much trouble. You can shut off your emotions, but you can't shut off your senses, and getting punched in the face is a hell of a way to feel something. if that was the only thing he could feel, it's no wonder that he sought it out so frequently. Of course he wanted to get kicked in the stomach, because it felt like something, and physical pain sucks, but if it's the only thing you're capable of feeling anymore, that's all you can do.

i don't know if i'm the only one but i've often wondered exactly how hard it was to convince julian mcmahon to stick around for season five. they took his character, a feared powerful half demon and made him into the butt of the joke and the whole joke was basically ha ha look at this lovestruck fool obsessing and suicidal because he's got nothing to live with but can't die. ain't that funny? like how the fuck did the writers sell that to julian is my question
i find the entirety of season five just so goddamn insulting to cole's character. hell the fact that he got possessed by the source and this was treated as him turning evil instead of a shitty situation that got out of hand. like it wasn't bad enough he was villified for something that he wasn't even in control of half the time they couldn't even just vanquish the dude, they dragged it on and ridiculed him. i hate it here
lol. i mean. yeah. i really. like. it's like. like okay we all know cole was a fan favorite right and he & phoebe were really meant to like. be the sex appeal to the show no one else was really filling that role they were charmed's Sexy Couple tm. so like. in a sense i get the notion ab wanting to keep him around. because everyone loves him! he's bad boy! he adds this dangerous edge love balancing on a knife's point stuff like that. so like. that being said. u wanna keep him around. i just like Do Not Get how you opt to keep him around Like That. tbh. as w all things. i am blaming brad kern. i think it all really started to tank s4 (well, with mortal cole, but like) with source cole. that was bad, but i know it was part of the push to have like long form season drama character driven plots conflict between the sisters themselves it just like. sucked ass and balls imo. like i mean the fact they had to do the source as a possession just so they could get demon cole and lover cole,,, i mean it speaks to how stupid it was. the fact that u wanted cole to be a villain So Bad but the only way to do it was like. possession? sign that u should not do that like. like. like. i don't know how we're supposed to feel ab that.
and then. the vanquish. not sticking. i think like. i think they probably had the vague idea that cole having a mortal soul would not be able to be vanquished properly right? like. demons get destroyed into nothingness, but the human part of him lives, so i think they probably knew that was what they were going to do, that's what they sold to jmm and like. we sowed those seeds in the s4 finale w his ghost whispers and materialization. so i think like. they knew they wanted to Not Kill Him because he was such a fan favorite. maybe there was an intention to do a will they won't they variant of phole? and then. of course. there was the whole idea of paige cole, which, as the rumor goes, was meant to kick of in the s5 pilot, but both julian and rose shut it down. but i feel like. assuming that's true (which i 100% do assume that's true absolutely and i'm not endorsing it i don't think it would have been good or well written or whatever but like. 👀. you know?) but yeah. assuming that's true, i feel like that piece really speaks to what their designs for cole were: man meat. he was meant to be their male sex appeal and they weren't going to be picky about the narrative itself as long as he was still kicking.
but like honestly? i mean i shouldn't have to say this it's a given: it's not enough to just put your sexy man in front of a camera and call it a day like imo even a man who is not sexy can be made appealing through the power of the narrative. like, to level with you, i never really ever shipped phole nor found cole attractive at all like ever, but i can see like the fucking support beams you know i can see the infrastructure on which this whole thing can you know take on a life of its own in the earlier seasons because they very consciously put it there!! people shipped it for a reason n not just because they were two people standing next to each other on a tv screen i mean hello almost sinking a dagger in her heart but can't do it sends her away back to her sisters because he can't act out on his evil plan!! that's something!!!! that's so very something and they gave us Nothing they gave us nothing in the later seasons. and still expected it to fly. like. tbh julian was probably just like unwittingly duped like dragged along for the ride s5 which is likely why he was vanquished halfway through because i'd imagine roughly three episode in he went okay! um. what's this? guys? what's this? and then they said cole<3 you know he like knew he had to get the hell outta dodge.
anyways. if i were to resuscitate phole in s5. which like. to level w u. i wouldn’t. because they would need a lot of one-on-one screentime and we already spent so much of s4 splitting up the sisterhood in the name of phole i wouldn’t really want to continue with that per se But. if i were. this ask is getting long it’s under a cut 
something something demon of the week something something realms the point is cole is there when he very much shouldn’t be and like. he and phoebe get knocked into a different plane. so their bodies are fine and at the manor, but their minds are elsewhere and they need to solve whatever it is in order to get back. and we’ll say there’s a fuckin deadline because the girls need the power of three and right now they are sealed off from accessing it. and you know phoebe’s pretty fuckin pissed with cole because you know. he dragged her down to hell and she almost gave birth to the antichrist. actually source’s heir might be fun to keep around in this au idk. the point is phoebe’s pissed at cole and cole’s pissed at phoebe because phoebe’s pissed at him but he literally didn’t have control over himself in that era and he’s not getting the space he needs to justify himself because phoebe keeps stepping over him. but they gotta work together to get out of here. and were kinda doing enemies to lover 2.0 but like now they have History. of course we’ve gotta do a moment where cole has idk done something normal and phoebe’s so riled up that she does something rash and almost dies cole saves her like catches her bridal style or something faces inches apart breathing heavy and there’s a moment. like a we’re back in early s4 moment. which phoebe immediately breaks from and like walls going flying up but just for a moment there we see it it’s obvious: she’s still in love with cole. which then segues into an argument because like. cole wasn’t sure. right? he wasn’t sure if phoebe now just genuinely hated him. but now he knows right he knows better now so why are you acting like this? why are you taking every opportunity to shut me down to shut me out? why are you acting like you hate me when you know that’s not true right that whole thing to phoebe who gets the Classic because i do hate you. i hate you for what you did to me for what you did to my family and i hate you because i loved you so much and you destroyed me and i hate you because no matter how hard i try that love is still there and i know that for a second if i stop hating you i’m going to love you just like before and you can destroy me again and i hate myself because i’d let you because i love you. you know? big speech. big reveal. i have No Idea what piper and paige are up to right now. the point is. after this big confession we get the lull the cards are on the table what the fuck do we do now which is when cole Finally gets to opportunity to say he was actually possessed by the source and manipulated by the seer and the only thing that kept him holding on was his love for her and after she became queen of hell after he saw what the source had done to her he knew it had to end he doesn’t hold it against her for vanquishing him right this is where we exonerate all wrongs we’re just saying anything bad that has happened ever? scrub it. it’s the source’s fault. cole has no resentment against phoebe. he loves her a healthy, normal, non-possessive amount, so much so He Loves Her So Much he let her kill him and like honestly would probably do it again. idk and then they make out or something. and then they’re out of whatever plane they were in by the end of the episode. And Then we get a buddy cop episode with paige and cole where they bond and also sort through everything that happened there. slowly but surely. and then we do a real phole wedding a super small affair in the manor lowkey bc i hated their wedding episode it blowed we give them a good one. wallah <3

i'm curious, what are your top 10 favorite rinharu moments in high speed and high speed 2?? i love the books. i don't understand why people say is impossible to ship rinharu if you read them...
Lmao who are those “people”? As in multiple? And are they from Mars? I do not get this. You cannot be serious. You probably meant “impossible not to ship”?
I don’t know about top ten, I love all of their interractions tbh, they just remind me of my fav type of romance in general. I know what are my top 5 I think, but after that I love everything, so it’s hard to rate.
1. My absolutely favorite moment will forever be the one, where Rin describes the way he sees Haru in the water, I’m seriously forever in awe, because, I’ve read a lot of books, and like... even period dramas got nothing on Rin Matsuoka, when he describes the love of his life. I mean, seriously, find yourself a person who sees you the way Rin sees Haru lol
Rin felt like he was touched by the light, that surrounded him with warmth. He turned around to see Haruka, who was glowing. Shining. Haruka was shining with every strong and confident stroke that he made. The outstanding energy, emitted from him, surrounded Haruka with the dazzling light and Rin froze, unable to look away. Rin’s heart was beating so hard in his chest, that he forgot how to breathe. Haruka stole his heart. And the further away he got from him, the more distance grew between them, the more uneasy Rin felt, like he was losing the control over his emotions. He was possesed by Haruka’s shining. His strokes looked as if he was hugging the water, his leg movements were so effortless and so elegant, as if water herself was moving him to the finish line. But in all these deceptively smooth and unhurried motions were so much strength and power and such incredible speed, that all his opponents didn’t stand a chance. His swimming was that transcendent reality. He was like a bird dancing in the sky with its wings spread wide.”
Dude... I’m like... still speechless. I mean, and not just this, but everytime Rin talks about Haru, even when he jokes about his stupid habbits, you still feel that he finds him so beautiful, inside and outside, that it just makes my heart melt. 
2. When Aki tells Rin that if you put him and Haru together, you get a perfection. 
“That guy has no sense of humor. He should learn by watching me, don't you think?" Rin joked lightly.
Aki laughed a bit at his words. "It's true. Add the two of you together and divide by two, and it would be perfect."
But I mainly love that moment, because like... Aki starts telling him, that Haru is not what he's pretending to be (like for some idiots in the fandom who call him selfish, that was the explanation for them xD) and how everyone always want something from him, and he never asks for anything in return and doesn’t have anyone to lean on (yup that’s what I said all along, too, with Makoto’s dumb behavior in difficult situations, he’s on his own there lmao). And she waits for Rin to deny it or like be surprised, but it turned out that that’s exactly how Rin sees him and that he cracked him from the very beginning. BTW, here’s your addition to the ask about Rin loving Haru for who he is and seeing him for who he is. I’m just in love with that moment, because I’m happy that he just... not only he knows him, but bc he’s not one of those many idiots who just don’t get it.
"Nanase-kun seems like he can do anything all by himself, doesn't he? He's good at studying and sports and even art. He really can do anything, right? That's why everyone relies on him, but it would really be something for Nanase-kun to rely on anyone, wouldn't it?"
Rin certainly thought this was true. He had only just transferred, but the image that Rin had of Haruka was exactly that. But even if Haruka didn't have the will to go out and get involved with other people on his own, it wasn't like he was completely isolated. On the contrary, he was considered the most reliable person in their class, and when people relied on him, he always did his best to meet their expectations. This was the strange balance that people around Haruka had to maintain.
3. The one when Haru calls Rin by his name for the first time. And I honestly for some reason didn’t even realize that this moment was in the anime until my 3rd rewatch (lol), but, man, little Rin’s reaction is the most adorable ever. I cry.
4. When Gou meets Haru for the first time and immediately goes “ah so you’re Haruka Nanase, the one, who my brother talks about 24/7...‘Nanase is so cool, Nananse is so fast!’” and Rin just goes red lmfaaaaaooooo.
5. When Haru says that he feels the fever running through his body each time he just sees Rin, but he doesn’t understand what it means... ahem.... OH WELL
6. When Rin tells them he’s leaving and Haru gets absolutely furious and calls him a selfish jerk, but then he feels his legs giving out and he thinks that he needs to be in the water, but then he realizes, that for the first time in his life it won’t save him and he’s so lost and fucking crushed. "you can’t just mess up my whole life and leave me like that” and “this can’t be true, I can’t be this weak.” aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa fucking hellish angst... that mix of emotions was seriously hideous, at first he was so confused and in denial, he couldn’t even think, he literally went “who is leaving?” and then it just all blew up. Poor baby.
7. Just all the little moments, when Rin notices everything Haru does and falls in love a bit more each time. Like when Haru slowed down, when he saw that Nagisa is having troubles of keeping up with him.
Nagisa was earnestly trying to keep up with Haruka. If he kept up that pace, he wouldn't be able to run next to Haruka for the whole trip. That was how it had been yesterday. Nagisa's breath was coming short, and when Haruka saw him slow down a pace, he lightly turned his eyes downward. I guess that's as far as he goes.
A sigh mixed with Haruka's long breaths. Then, by just a tiny increment, Haruka let his pace slacken.
"Oh?" Rin said quietly. Haruka could almost hear him saying "You're so nice, Nanase," and he tsked inwardly. Nagisa caught up to him, smiling as if it hurt a bit. It looked like he'd lost the energy to keep talking.
Just cute, and they watched each other all the time, it’d be a bitch to count each one, but god, all of them were cute.
8. All the moments of Haru pulling Rin’s pigtails... hilarious, especially the RinRin one, but the funniest and my favorite was when Nagisa turned to Haru to ask him for a permision to call Rin Rin-Rin, like... all the rights to Rin belong to Haru and vice versa lmao I agree. “I’ll allow it” lolz shut it, Haru.
9. This moment: “Something happened inside of him that made Haruka incredibly angry, he was so pissed, that he didn’t even want to swim anymore. To think that someone like Rin could make him feel such powerful swirl of emotions and make him such a mess... he felt disgusted with himself.” Yeah, Haru, love is dat bitch when you’re 13 lol
10. The one where Haru whispers “sorry for making you feel that way” to Rin? The one where Rin’s grandma doesn’t want to go to see the relay, but then she suddenly does, when she finds out that her grandson’s future husband is in it? The “he at that moment realized that the only thing Rin was concerned about was Haruka” one? I don’t fucking know, you pick haha ANY MOMENT, ALL THE MOMENTS XD

BUT in all seriousness, I do not get how you can love Makoharu after the novels. Like do people just ignore these moments:
“Haru waved Makoto off like an annoying fly”, “feeling annoyed by his obnoxious care, Haruka went right past him”, “feeling like Makoto’s smile could turn into tears any second now, Haru turned away and went to the showers” (fuck this shit I’m out lmao), “complitely ignoring him, Haru kept walking”.
??????? is this... does anyone find this amazing??????!!!!!!!!!!!
Or when Haru was literally fucking losing it, cause Makoto just repeated everything after him and how he just lost all the respect in that moment.
“I feel like I should also get into running.” Makoto said it as it was a joke, but Haru knew for sure that it wasn’t. More than that, he knew, that Makoto was going to ask him that ever since the moment he found out that Haru was running this morning. Haruka fel annoyed, because he couldn’t find the excuse to refuse him.
Or this moment:
“Makoto was late and Haruka didn’t have any reasons to wait for him. Makoto can catch up with him on the way, they’ll meet at the swimming club either way. For both of them it’ll be better, if Haru went by himself, than stood there and waited Makoto, slowly losing his temper.”
“Haruka felt uncomfortable, cause Makoto looked at him, as if was a weak”
Or this:
"Did you know I was going to come out here?" Even though he knew it was impossible, Makoto couldn't stop himself from asking.
"Nope."
"Then, why…" are you standing in a place like this?
"Watching the sunset."
and I can go on and on and on
and the fishies... oh my fucking god, the fishies

I’m just saying, all these moments are not even funny. My point in all this, that like no matter how much Haru loves Makoto as a friend... or got used to him is what I personally think, I don’t think he’s ever gonna idk how to say this... respect him as a human being? admire him? And this whole situation... I just can’t appreciate such kind of relationships even in a friends way. 
1stly because Makoto’s behavior in general makes me have war flashbacks to some of my real life experiences (and yeah, I confess, it affected me and that’s why I don’t like his character a lot; because I don’t think many people know what it’s like to deal with these kind of people in general). 2ndly, cause Makoto fans keep trashing Haru and many call him selfish bc of the way he treats him, but what they don’t understand is that if it wasn’t for Haru being this harsh, Makoto would literally became even doormat-y than he is now (yes, it’s possible lmao). 
P.S. my favorite in the novels tbh is all the Haru “I’m surrounded by idiots” moments, like when they started to dig the frozen soil with little scrapes and he was looking at them like they’re morons and then just silently walked away and came back with a giant shovel... “if you keep doing this with your tiny scoopers, we’re gonna be here all night” and they then they just watched him as he did everything himself LMFAO I just love him so freaking much. I also think his relationship with Nagisa are incredible and so underrated, since it’s a huge and incredible part of the books. I just keep saying, Haru’d be an amazing dad, so I can’t wait for him and Rin to adopt xD

TPN Vol 8 - Chapter 62-65 First Thoughts
note: some of the content here might be redundant with standalone posts. I sometimes add in thoughts when I get them later.
when geezer's thoughts said "thats not it" it reminded me of his attack in vol 7 where he said "that's not true", and I was honestly expecting for Lucas that it would be "you need to shut up" and im kind of disappointed that it wasn't bc that would have been so emotional jesus christ
also, that his name is blurred out.... I have a hard time believing its just meta, so do you think he's actually forgotten his name or sth? i feel like you could have easily just not have him say his name then like whats the point of putting it there just to blur it aside from trolling your readers i guess
and your anime-onlies who know his name but have agreed not to name-drop so it's just suffering now pff-

it's a hunting ground for nobles, huh? how do you know? Aren't the nobles also in charge of the farms? So they... follow the promise by doing production but then ALSO...... give children to a hunting ground? (but I guess only humans can break the promise so IHDKJKDS OKAY THEN-)
Like there's the two options here:
it's a SECRET hunting ground - the children there are escapees + probably the stolen children Sonju has mentioned he hears about. But demons PROBABLY can't steal from the highest farms right and we've heard that the children in the mass production farms can't even TALK, much less be fun to hunt (now, of course, the validity of Sonju's claims is starkly questioned by geezer-senpai's existence to begin with; so it might just be unreliable exposition).
it's a "secret" hunting ground - escapees are captured and more children are given to the hunting ground by the farms. This could be to appease the demon nobles who "want to hunt humans", so they don't cause problems for the power system the farm nobles have build up. And the "stealing children" is just a cover up for the public (would make sense with the IMMENSE security farms have AND would lign up with what Sonju said not being the entire truth)
IF option 2) is the case, it would imply that not EVERY child shipped out would be gupna'd on the spot (and instead delivered to a hunting ground) - I have accepted it as the procedure but actually, we've only confirmed it with Conny. the only other case we could have - Norman - wasn't seen being gupna'd.
But what doesn't make sense to me is that: the nobles want their highest grade meat, right?
So two options again: 1) there's 2 groups of nobles - ones that just eat them gupna'd and one that wants to hunt them (GP) - OR 2) there is only one group, the latter.
That would be easy to think about but is probably not the case. not every gourmet wants to kill it himself.
And while I think it'd be more reasonable for the farms to be in on it, I think it causes an inconsistency: If escapees get captured by GP, it'd have to be in secret because there's no way the nobles would let up on their meal, right? UNLESS every high quality meat ends up in GP and GP is just what is referred to as the "tifari ceremony" by grandma Sarah. I'm not sure if that is the case though, especially because "the 3 can be shipped out as scheduled" but Emma's birthday hasn't happened yet so she'd not be there normally by now.
IT COULD BE completely off of the farm nobles, but I just have a hard time believing they'd never notice the hunting grounds NOR notice any BIG DEMON, yknow, swooping over the fence and stealing a CHILD. IDK haha- it seems like it'd be a lot smarter to just give them food voluntarily to avoid possible chaos.
But maybe not the highest grade and that's why they're also always on the lookout for escapees - which I STILL THINK aren't common enough to warrant keeping an eye on the ENTIRE territory and which demons are regenerated a lot BUT HEY THAT'S JUST ME. So they are appeased by the government (essentially) but they also keep highest grade escapees on their own terms.
or maybe I'm wrong and escapees really ARE common enough to fill an entire hunting ground. But if that is the case, it DEFINITELY is behind the farm nobles' back (unless they're all part of it).
SO MANY UNLESSES HELP. my brain is melting.

it's sus! It's also quite sus because the promise is to "not hunt each other anymore" BUT humans are the only ones who can break it? It seems so in favor of the demons, but the HUMANS had the UPPER HAND- so what gives? Maybe the promise is something inherently tied to demons, so without them it couldn't exist at all and that's their "upper hand" in the deal?

Although I don't really know much about Wally or Kyle. ❤
RUBS HANDS TOGETHER
Hello? This is the greatest ask anyone’s ever sent me. Kyle is a lovey-dovey dumbass who falls in love after two seconds of knowing someone, so like. It’s real. It’s very real. He and Wally would’ve had their thing first? Because of their whole enemies to lovers arc in JL, except - because of that whole dynamic where they started off ragging on each other, I feel like they both would’ve been oblivious to their feelings. Add in a healthy dose of compulsory heterosexuality from Kyle, and yeah... the adults of the League have probably been waiting years for that ship to sail, except the babies just keep being oblivious dunderheads.
(Wally realized in his teen years that he’s not strictly heterosexual, because being on a team with Dick Grayson when you’re male tends to draw out any bent inclinations very, very quickly. It’s just. Kyle is the snot-nosed rookie too big for his britches. He’s a baby? He’s an infant. Wally is not attracted to an infant, wtf.)
And then Kyle goes off on his journey of self-discovery with Donna and Jason. Well, journey of self-discovery for him, because Jason’s ass and body and his devil-may-care tough guy attitude is the culmination of Kyle’s bisexual crisis. Seriously, countdown is basically Kyle going “ugh, that stupid hot sexy asshole is so hot and sexy around Donna, there’s no way she can resist him. Why is he attractive? He needs to stop. I’m going to fight him because he’s TOO HOT.” It’s incredible. If the writers weren’t cowards, countdown would’ve ended with them being in a triad.
Donna’s probably the one who points out that mayhaps... Kyle’s constant mooning over Jason might mean something different... and Kyle’s like wtf, no. And then he actually thinks about it, because Kyle’s one of maybe two (2) men in the dcu who has a semblance of emotional intelligence (idk who the other one is, but I’m sure he’s out there) (edit: it’s Connor. Connor Hawke. Connor is the other man. I was going to say Clark but Clark keeps going to extremes whenever he or his are threatened and. like. he tries, bless his heart, but there’s still a lot of repression going on with him) and he’s like wait. Fuck. Well what do I do with this information!! It’s not like Jason is into guys!!!
To which Donna just looks at him like, how are you so smart yet so stupid at the same time. She remembers how baby Jason mooned over Roy and Dick as much as he mooned over her. She Remembers.
(Also, lbr, Donna’s very experienced by now at dealing with dumb boys in denial about their non-het leanings. See previous statements about being on a team with Dick Grayson. She saw all of it, man. She’s seen so much.)
Cue Kyle, sitting bolt upright in bed after they’ve just wound down for the night and just saying, “Oh my god, Wally.”
And Donna’s just like, yup.
And Jason’s just like ? wtf is that asshole up to now. Whatever, idc, blissfully unaware of Kyle’s bi panic.
Anyway. The world is saved, and they get back to their Earth, and Kyle manages to put it aside because Everything Happens So Much. He’s the Green fking Lantern, okay, he doesn’t have time to deal with sexuality crises, except. Except. It won’t leave him alone?
Like, in his downtime he hangs out with Wally a lot since they’re friends, and oh yes, hello raging crush that he can no longer pretend isn’t a thing, because once Kyle acknowledges his attraction? That is it, man, there’s no turning back from that point. And ik that in canon, Jason threw a snitfit and left Kyle and Donna in the middle of their happy fun space adventure fieldtrip, but let’s say he didn’t have a sudden ooc personality turn because of writer mandate, and he stayed with Kyle and Donna until the end of their journey, and they stayed in touch.
And Kyle realizes, to his horror, that Jason is charming, and funny, and not bad on the eyes, and fuuuuck. This isn’t really helping his stupid dumb crush. Stupid dumb crushes. Goddamn.
(Sometimes Jason even joins him in his Space Adventures because of his new team. More specifically, Kori and her shiny new spaceship that can sustain humans in space conditions, and he is not jealous, shut up, Roy.)
(Roy caught on pretty quickly, because he’s much more empathetic and in tune with other peoples emotions than he pretends to be 90% of the time. Unfortunately, he only uses his powers for chaos.)
Ofc, Wally would start getting curious about Jason eventually because suddenly this kid is fucking everywhere? Dick’s calling on him for intel in the middle of a firefight, and he’s ragging on Roy’s atrocious dress sense, and he’s joking with Donna and Kyle’s giving him the same shit that he used to give to Wally, excuse me. Wasn’t he a villain or something? The last time Wally paid attention to him, he was sawing heads off in Gotham, and now Wally can’t seem to turn without tripping over him. When the fuck did that even happen?
(I’m not sure if Wally ever met Robin!Jason. Hm. Were Jason’s guest-appearances on the team during when Wally was pulling one of his stints of... I don’t WANT to be a hero, I want to be a NORMAL BOY who goes to COLLEGE, even though I literally re-created the Flash’s lab accident down to the letter just so I can have his powers and be a hero and save the world? ... ykw, we don’t acknowledge that era of Wally. This was back when he was a meninist incel or something. Ick.)
... and damn, Wally really can trip over him now, huh. Because he sure did grow up big, and strong, and rugged, and haha fuck now Dick is starting to glare at him, too, and not just at Roy, abort, abort.
...... Wally does attempt to subtly ask Roy, later, if there’s any truth to the statements about him and Jason and Kori that Roy says to Dick to get him all riled up. I say “attempt to” because Wally is bad at subtlety. It’s part of why he and Kyle get along so well. Roy realizes what he’s asking and he about has an apoplexy because Wally? Wally? Now there’s a surprise contender he did not expect, tossing his hat into the ring.
But also. Also... hot.
Roy and Kori are watching all of this while munching popcorn like damn, this is better than TV. Because Kyle’s having his crisis, his Love crisis, and Wally’s having his oh my god why do I find my best friend’s little brother hot crisis, and Jason is just happily oblivious to all of this, because he’s too busy angsting over his dad not loving him enough and dismantling trafficking rings and being the big, bad scourge of Gotham to notice Kyle pining after him like a lovelorn puppy, and Wally eyeing him appreciatively like he hasn’t eaten in a whole hour and Jason is a tender piece of marbled steak roasted on both sides to perfection. He does notice the way Kyle and Wally look at each other, though, because he’s only observant when it comes to the positive emotions of other people. And he is not stepping in the middle of that, tyvm, because from what Roy’s told him the two of them have a looooong history and he does not want to get caught in the middle of that crossfire.
Roy and Kori are both like, what makes you think it’s going to get messy, anyway? And Jason, whose real world examples of functioning relationships are 1. Willis and Catherine Todd, 2. Bruce and Selina, 3. Bruce and Talia, 4. Dick and all his exes, 5. Roy and all of his not-exes because he doesn’t date but people keep falling in love with him anyway and he panics and ghosts them because he is Roy William Commitment Issues Harper, 6. Kori and whatever the fuck she’s got going on with Dick and like, an ex? back on Tamaran? who she might still be married to?? what the fuck, 7. Kyle and Donna and their messy breakup(s)(?) (Jason doesn’t ask, because he Does Not Want To Know) (he’s too busy repressing to realize it’s half because of jealousy), is just like, that’s just how things go.
And Roy and Kori, both having mentally run through all of those ^ options while Jason was thinking of a response, are just like. ... yeah, alright, that’s fair enough.
God, every single relationship in DC is a mess.
Where was I even going with this?
Oh, right. Basically, Kyle is pining like a lovelorn idiot, Wally doesn’t know what the fuck he’s feeling and it’s making him confused, and Jason is ignoring his feelings because maybe if he just represses them hard enough, they won’t spill over and punch him in the face. Honestly, I see Wally making the first move, because his inadequacy issues don’t run as deep as Jason and Kyle’s do, and Kyle’s just like :D and Jason’s like, what the fuck. What the fuck? Because it literally blindsides him, even though it’s stupidly, painfully obvious to everyone else around him.
Either that, or Roy gets sick enough of watching their lovelorn pining, and employs Dick’s help to lock them all in a closet, naked, and fuck it out.
(Dick doesn’t actually disapprove of Jason sleeping with his friends, he just needs to get over his mental block of still seeing Jason as a baby)
Anyway. They’re all a whole-ass mess.

but I Do Not Care it's RAE hours right now so uhhh here's some headcannons that probably aren't Canon compliant very much because I just got into RAE like last week
So like. I feel like Mitzi is a Good Amount younger than the rest of the band like she was in highschool when she joined, the rest of em were all Adults™ and she was a little bit nervous about it because...... ADULTS™
She was just lookin for a place to get her singing voice out there, because ya girl REALLY wanted to perform, and showbiz happened to have a slot open, but she did not expect all of the members to be older than her (although looking back, she realized she probably should have expected that)
It was intimidating at first but Billy Bob and Fatz were just the absolute sweetest and they introduced her properly to the rest of the band because she was like "oh I barely talk to them because I get nervous :(" and the resident dads p much said "aight we can do all the talking for you then, how about that?" And badabing badaboom she's now attached to these two and like honestly who isn't or maybe that's just me but ANYWAYS I feel like the band would become a second home/safe space for her
Yeah fr some reason I have BIG long headcannon for her joining the band but the rest of them? Nobody knows how they got there for all I know they just Showed Up One Day

Which got me thinkin about what my headcannons were as far as sexuality/gender stuff
And I find the concept of Billy Bob being Very Much Straight And Ignorant but trying his hardest to be a good ally SO funny like if someone came out to him he'd probably be like "oh!! I don't understand why you would choose that lifestyle but I respect you!!" not realizing how incredibly stupid he sounds sjkrjh like I don't think he can very easily wrap his head around how people are just. not cishet. so he's like "OH then it must be a choice, right? like you can choose to be gay but you're born straight. Right?" and everyone just shakes their heads in the background but he does earnestly try his best and my man would rather DIE than disrespect someone's pronouns I know this for sure
Fatz is pretty similar, straight ally and a lil confused but he's got the spirit, you know? He still least knows being gay (as well as,,, m o s t sexualities that aren't straight, although some he doesn't get/know about at all) isn't a choice but he hasn't quite grasped that being trans is also not a choice. He will respect your pronouns to hell and back but by god he doesn't get it,,, he's trying though and he feels very accomplished in himself that he's starting to get the hang of using they/them even though he slips up a lot
The rest of the band encourages the HELL out of these two because they're. Trying their best and making an honest effort which is more than a pretty good chunk of people would give
Rolfe, Earl, and Dook are the reasons Billy Bob and Fatz are trying so hard to understand it lmao
Rolfe took it upon himself to hang up a MASSIVE gay pride flag backstage, being the flaming homosexual that he is, and the rest of the squad quickly realized "oh he's GAY gay he wasn't kidding" because at first they literally thought he was joking as he was actually just being openly and obnoxiously a raging mlm (and like I mean no shade to him this isn't me tryna to make fun of it because my dumb sapphic ass almost crashed my car once because I saw a pretty girl walk down the street. And by "once" I mean. Yesterday.) Anyways yeah that's when the rest of em Realized and were like "OH" but after the massive pride flag was hung up that prompted Dook to come out and they were all like "???? YOU TOO????"
Dook is a non-binary ICON he's a demiboy and goes by both he/him and they/them and probably would have a bunch of pride pins I think,,, I'm not really sure of his sexuality though!! honestly he kinda gives me bisexual vibes but Who Knows . Not me. He has a HELL of a time trying to explain his gender to the rest of the band (except for Rolfe because like. He's a part of the community so he knows) and basically he was met with "so you're just a dude but ✨spicy✨?" and it was like, "no, but I have no idea how to explain it in a way that will make sense to you, so. yes?" And that explanation seemed to suffice for most of them
Mitzi went in knowing NOTHING about what being non-binary was so she asked a l o t of questions about it, which Dook just kinda dealt with answering (he's heard most of it before, and it gets tiring after a while. if you're nb or trans or honestly any part of LGBTQ+ you know what I mean) but he thought it was really sweet of her to be so determined to learn about it and eventually she did get a grasp on it ish, so she was able to understand why it wasn't just ✨spicy male✨ (the conversation pretty much went "well if i was just male, don't you think I would label myself that way instead?" "....oH TRUE!!!") and she ended up a VERY passionate ally, and she'll ask occasionally about how to be better at it, bein a queen as she is 👉👉 also definitely started questioning her sexuality after a while and just went with "maybe bicurious" and Rolfe, Dook, and Earl were all like "ONE OF US, ONE OF US"
Earl has never once spoken about his sexuality in his life, because 1. He's very aware that's an awkward conversation to have with a puppet, and 2. He's aroace anyways, which is basically what people assume even if they don't realize it just for their own peace of mind, because seriously, puppets and any identity that ISN'T aroace creates a really uncomfortable mental image for... Most people, pretty much. So it's not like he ever needed to say anything about it, which is convenient for him because he wouldn't want to say anything either way. not worth the risk of embarrassing himself and making everyone feel awkward
(side note ish though Rolfe 100% came out to Earl first and was met with "I already knew that but okay." Rolfe was mildly offended)
And spEAKING OF EARL he's VERY much sentient but he can't say he's particularly enthusiastic about it because Rolfe has to carry him around everywhere
He can move on his own but it's limited and generally annoying to maneuver around with his tiny body so he just says screw it half the time and stays on Rolfe's arm or hitch a ride on Random Object, but like... Yeah, the majority of the time Rolfe just has to deal with only having one arm available and a puppet directly next to him making fun of him at every possible chance
They high-key have chaotic and unorganized college roommate vibes (like they're actually roommates because... Where tf is Earl supposed to go?? So Rolfe took him in) and idk if this is really like a part of my headcannons or if I just think it's funny so I keep entertaining the idea of it but I think it would be Fantastic if Rolfe had no idea how to cook but Earl somehow did so this idiot is trying to take instructions from a puppet, who can't physically show him what to do, and it's like Hell's Kitchen live featuring a furry and a sentient stuffed animal
Aaaaamd going off of my Rolfe and Earl headcannons still Rolfe for SURE has some sort of executive dysfunction issue. ADD or ADHD I'm not sure (probably ADHD) but he definitely has it also this totally isn't just me projecting how dare you accuse me of that
And!!! More about Dook!!!! I don't know how or why I thought up of this but I cannot possibly imagine him any other way now-- he's autistic and space is his Big Huge special interest, and if you ever ask him about it you have to be prepared to get infodumped or possibly even shown a PowerPoint presentation, because GOD he loves space!!! He wants everyone to know all about it!! He knows not everyone thinks it's as cool as he does so he tries to keep his mouth shut but when someone asks about it he can't help himself and will infodump a LOT, also haha drumming stims go brrrr, playing the drums isn't really a stim but he likes to just take his drumsticks and whack em around in the air and get that good ol Wavy Arm Action (wavy arms is best stim change my mind you can't it's GOOD)
Also i bbbbelieve earlier I reposted somethin about someone else headcannoning that he has echolalia, which I don't really know enough about to say anything on it?? But even if he doesn't have echolalia he'd probably repeat phrases over and over until he gets tired of them (which is,,, something I do lmao, it's either memes I get stuck in my head or things I've heard from various medias I like the inflections in (like one tiktokker I saw was talking about their tourettes and their vocal tics and one of them was "uh oh! How unfortunate!" and now I CAN'T STOP SAYING IT)) but like uhhh yeah :))) repeating phrases that get stuck in your head for various reasons for the win

I am! I’ve fallen into (back) into SPN hell recently and gotten a ton of feels I did not expect, thank you very damn much. But anyway, yes I am happy to oblige. 
Dean’s voice is very distinct, but I can see why it’s hard to grapple with for many writers because very seldom does he say what he means and very often when he does it’s wrapped up in humour or pain. It’s often quippy as a means of deflecting emotion or maintaining a status quo or emotional handle over a situation. He uses commands and charm and pop culture references but he’s a very complex character so sometimes that all disappears and he’s open and vulnerable and raw, and those lines can be hard to draw.

Notes 
To understand Dean’s focal speech patterns, we first to recognize that we’ve known Dean for 15 years, and that people’s modes of speaking can and will change over time. We’re gonna focus on things that have stayed more or less consistent over time, and his ‘base’ speech patterns that make his dialogue him. I’ll mostly shy away from different eras but may highlight a few things, and the same goes for who he’s talking to because he’s pretty similar with his only major differences being a function of closeness. He’s not much of a conversational mimic so we don’t have to worry about that. 
We’re also gonna state the obvious and contrast the type of conversation he might be having - whether he’s tied up or in danger vs. expressing emotions vs. focused on the job. That’s probably where the meat of this is for people who are interested in these kinds of analyses anyway :)
Also - this is 4200 words so I’m sure there are typos so just acknowledging that up front.

Sentence Style
Let’s start with overall style.
Dean’s speech is generally straightforward (when he’s not being referential) with a low proportion of adjectives and a decent amount of degree modifiers (more on that below). He uses simple sentences with clear statements, though will add clauses to clarify, reference, or add degree fairly frequently. 
For example:

”Like you said” is acting here as a way to refer back to a previous conversation. Dean does this more when he’s stating something not about himself/his subjective experience, but stating an absolute (or at least something to be taken as absolute). 
Also something to point out about this example: like I said he uses shorter, simpler sentences. While that isn’t always true of course, it definitely it is the case that he doesn’t tend toward long, breathless sentences. Even here he could have said this in one sentence and instead split it into two concrete points. A person could transcribe it differently (”Like you said, we’re family, and we don’t leave family behind.”) but he tends to speak in this manner that implies full stops between these separate statements. 
(Later I’m gonna completely contradict myself by talking about his longer statements btw. He tends to use longer sentences in more serious conversations, and includes clauses that qualify the statement).

Declarative I-Statements
Dean uses a ton of declarative sentences starting with I. Like - a lot of people do. But Dean’s iconic quotes are often “I”, and a large proportion of his sentences are declarative sentences in the active voice centring around him, his opinion, or his experience of the world. From “I think he wants us to pick up where he left off - saving people, hunting things, the family business.” to “I think I’m adorable”, Dean likes to tell us what he thinks and what he is.

You can also extend this pattern to other sentences that might start with different words but carry the same thesis “Demons I get - people are crazy.” It could be reworded just as simply as “I get demons - people are crazy.” But if Sam were the one saying it? “People are crazy” seems just as likely (although I’d put my money on “what is wrong with people?” as Sam’s most likely statement if he were trying to get the same sentiment across). Sam would express it as an absolute about the world or a rhetorical question, rather than one focused around his view of the world. Which doesn’t make Sam less self-focused or idiocentric than Dean, but their speech patterns express different modes of seeing the world, and in some ways Dean’s vocal patterns do more to acknowledge that his view of the world is subjective (but also that his subjective view is all he really cares about anyway).

Imperative and Commands
Dean speaks in a lot of commands. Idk what else to tell you. He’s a natural leader and he takes charge of situations, so it’s just kind of a natural facet of his speech.

Word Choices
One thing I like to always examine is word choice, contractions, and negation, so let’s dive in to that. 
Diction
While Dean doesn’t flower up his language much in terms of verb and noun choice, that isn’t because he has a small vocabulary. I’d wager it’s a choice to being unpretentious because of the world he lives in. He never has any issue pulling out technical or clinical language:

(Also seen here: he tends to be very pithy and flippant, especially when he’s unimpressed with someone or with a situation, or wants to express annoyance and frustration. It’s his first-stop for “I dislike this”.)
We’ve seen him use words like Achilles’ Heel and describe how he made an EMF using technical language, so there’s no hesitancy to drop these terms, but for him it’s a matter of expressing what he wants to in a manner that will be easily understood by the person with whom he’s speaking.

Negation
For how he uses negation - Dean doesn’t say “ain’t” and he seldom said “[x]’s not”. His typical negation is “isn’t”.

(Not “this ain’t the Scooby Gang” and not “it’s not / we’re not the Scooby Gang”. Isn’t. And yes, the line “there ain’t no me if there ain’t no you” bugs the hell out of me for this specific reason. When else have we ever heard him say ain’t? “There is no me if there is no you” is way more in keeping with his usual negation style.)  
He also negates using the word Never. “I’ve never had anything this nice.”

This is interesting because it fits into Dean’s pattern (discussed below) of using words (adverbs and swears alike) as ways to modify the intensity of his sentences. A lot of people use qualifiers to create this sense of degree (words like “really” and “very”). While Dean sometimes uses or combines those words with others (”really freakin’ hate this”), he does something that very few people do, which is use the qualifying word ‘never’ to express an absolute quality. Most of us can’t say we’ve never done something. We might say we “didn’t” do something, but we don’t express it as absolute as “never”. Dean does. Dean makes it clear what things simply do not get to be attributed to him or are not to be counted within his sphere of existence.
(He says it under less extreme circumstances too though...)

Contractions
Dean is liberal with his use of contractions and word shortenings. I’d recommend writing his use of words like “freaking” as “freakin’” “nothin’” and so forth. Can’t, not cannot.

Gonna, wanna. You are going to want to = You’re gonna wanna. (Also “you’re gonna have to trust me”. He tells people what they’re gonna have to do a lot).
He uses other shortenings like “y’know” and “’cause” as well, when he’s relaxed at least. Like all of us, if he’s emphasizing those words he’ll enunciate fully, so try to match the contraction use to what you want to emphasize and to the tone you want to convey.

Addressing Others
I wasn’t sure what else to call these (linguists might have some idea), but I’m talking about the use of words like “man” “dude” and “y’know” (and even his “Listen Velma” above). He uses these words like we all do - to ensure the person we’re talking to is clear that we’re addressing them directly, calling them into the conversation. Dean uses ‘dude’ a frequent amount for Sam (and others) but also “Man” at times (especially when annoyed). He uses “brother” for Benny as well in S8 in the same manner.

Conversely, “y’know” tends to come up when he’s being sly or pithy. He doesn’t really use ‘Buddy’ except for strangers (but not like Sam who essentially uses it as a threat) and I can’t recall him saying ‘pal’.

Expressing Emphasis
Look - Dean doesn’t use a lot of adjectives, but he does use a lot of degree modifiers/adverbs. One of those is “just”. “Just do [x].” “Just so you know.” Just.

He also does a very neat thing with the word “Uh.” It’s used not to hesitate or equivocate, like most people might use it, but instead to increase attention to what he’s saying. A false-hesitancy which tends to both emphasize and diffuse what he’s saying a bit.

Swearing
There is absolutely no doubt that Dean is an avid curser. There’s an excellent 4th-wall-bending implication from 3x13 (Ghostfacers) where we see Dean (and Sam) dropping f-bombs and other swears that get bleeped out in the Ghostfacers documentary. Which allows us as the audience to realize they’re swearing all the time, but that the network doesn’t allow that kind of swearing, so we see a watered down version of their dialogue on screen.

Dean says “freaking” a lot, and I feel like we can assume that 9 times out of 10, he’s dropping an f bomb. His favourite exclamation is “son of a bitch”, but when he’s really pissed off, we get a “motherf*cker”. Seasons 4-8 his favourite thing to call people is a douche or douchebag if he looks down on them. In general my advice to authors would be not to hesitate to have Dean swear, but make sure you’re using them right. 
While many swears are just exclamations or word replacement (”kicked my ass” instead of “kicked my butt”), a lot of the swearing that Dean does is specifically to increase emphasis to something in his speech. Adding in freaking/f*cking as an intensifier is probably its most common use for him.

For the record, he uses “hell” in a similar fashion. What the hell, how the hell, where the hell - etc. Expressing intense emotions via swears that increase the degree/magnitude/intensity of the statement.

(Oddly enough, although Dean will insult people casually calling them douche, etc, when he’s pressed and angry and aggressive, his insults toward people don’t become vitriolic diatribes. Threats are more common, typically without an upscale in cursing, and so is being pithy to get them mad and distracted.)

Questions, Answers, and Emotions
Okay so one thing I have to address: I kind of setup a strawman in the opening about sentence length. Because sure, Dean uses a lot of shorter and more declarative sentences. But he’s a person, which means that the bulk of his speech is just speech. While all else being equal, he uses more shorter, i-statements, and more commanding language than others, he also has conversations. He’s got a great sense of humour and a bit of an acid tongue, even under pressure, so if you’re not writing him with some some glibness or humour (even when it comes out biting, frustrated or falls completely flat) you’re probably missing something.
And often, he expresses himself in questions. This humour and glibness can come out like:  "What are you, the Dog Whisperer now?" in a less strained situation, or it can come out to try to keep his feels under wraps while seeking insight:

Of course it’s not all questions. Sometimes his glibness, including for his own life, comes out in the form of answers:

He’s being serious but totally glib about life and death, having accepted his fate. (Dean accepting his own mortality is kind of also a must, especially post S1 finale).
And sometimes he expresses pain and feeling as questions without any glibness at all:

So to be clear, don’t write him as only ever using short i-declarations. Pepper those in, but remember that if he’s expressing an emotion or a vulnerability (even if he’s covering it with glibness), he’ll be using this roundabout way with questions or with indirect answers that don’t directly state his feelings but still manage to convey what he’s thinking.

Pleading
One more thing I want to touch on in this section: there are (probably surprising to some who aren’t looking) a lot of notes of supplication when he’s talking to others and feeling vulnerable. It’s very easy to think of Dean as someone who’ll never ask, never beg or plead. Because that’s what he wants you to think, because he’s the cool, in charge Han Solo type. 
But Dean does ask. He pleads. He pleads to God/Chuck, he pleads to his father, to Sam, to Cass. A major difference between he and Sam is actually the situations in which they’re likely to say “please”. Sam’s likely to use it as a first response (and therefore says it waaaay more) but absolutely refuse to under duress. Dean will never ever use it as a first response, but will fall back and resort to it in the end. We could unpack what that means about their psyche, but we’re here for language.
Not too surprisingly, I’m having a hard time getting the gif search to grant me specific gifs of Dean saying ‘please’, but I can recall some instances. S1 finale, when Azazel is possessing John. First he starts with quips and pissing Azazel off, and then it’s “Don’t you let him hurt me!” and then when that fails, he begs his father to help him. 
He pleads in S1 for Sam not to leave, because Sam is all he has left. He pleads with an angelic APB at the opening of S9 for an angel to save Sam. He tells Cass he needs him when Cass his pulverizing his face. “Please, he’s my brother”. Is that what he says to Lilith? Or was the ‘please’ implied there?
Here, instead of single gifs, you should get the full experience of the duress under which Dean will say please:
To God
To his dad
To his dad again
To Bobby
To Sam in an alternate timeline
And when he wants to be left alone the same thing occurs:
To his mother
To Sam
You get the idea. He doesn’t always say please. Sometimes it’s notes of supplication in his voice and sometimes it’s a somewhat desperate “c’mon man” when he doesn’t want to have to ask but he’s at the end of his rope.
(Okay final characterization note for this section - I also think Dean is probably useless against someone who looks up at him with wide sad eyes and says ‘please’ to him. I suspect part of why it’s his final defense is because he himself would be defenseless to that kind of plea from others, because he was hardwired from a young age to look after his infant little brother, and that involves a certain amount of responding to pleading and helplessness).

Pop Culture References

Dean uses a lot of highly referential language. He refers to bands and musicians, films, pop culture, current events and modern history, etc. Despite him not being overly tapped into social media (e.g., not knowing what myspace is in early seasons, among other things), it’s equally clear that he’s tapped into film, TV, music - any means through which he can consume content. This makes sense given how much driving time and downtime his life must have, with time in motels and between jobs to watch and rewatch the same media. Try to pepper in these sorts of references in as ways for Dean to describe what’s going on and relate new experiences to what makes sense to him.
If you’re a non-American writing him, or a very young American, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on music and media that were popular from the 80s and 90s, which will make up the core of Dean’s formative years and therefore references. There’s also evidence he knows a lot of pop culture history though so don’t hesitate to make references to films etc from any decade of the 20th century. He’s also a bit of a sci-fi nerd and we know he reads (including Vonnegut) so literary references are perfectly in order. I would shy away from references to historical fiction, Shakespeare, and instead keep it to genres we know he consumes (including cartoons!).

Deeper Emotional Conversations
While I mentioned above that he uses questions and answers to roundabout discuss his feelings, not all chick flick moments can be handled in that manner, and many can’t be handled with glibness at all.
For Dean, directly addressing his deeper negative emotions is difficult, and thus becomes a pained pronouncement. The nuance tends to come through in his face and nonverbal cues so focus on those, but linguistic choices are pretty important here. And this is where directly naming his emotions comes in. Unlike that question/answer section above where his thoughts and feelings are conveyed without directly naming his sentiment, sometimes he is called upon to express his feelings more specifically.
Because let’s be honest, he’s got his A Single Man Tear(TM) and he’s got deep, painful feelings, but he sucks at talking about them.

Let’s create an example that isn’t something that specifically happened in canon, but easily could. So - let’s say that Dean might need to say he’s scared of losing Sam. That would come after some pained discussion and Dean will act like he’s having his teeth pulled, but he will say it. And when he does, it’s either an angry proclamation (”you want me to say it? fine! i’m scared, sam - i’m scared as hell that one day i’ll wake up and you’ll be gone.”) or he cracks himself open completely exposed and vulnerable, and all the air rushes from the room when you see it because his eyes are shining and it’s visceral and real and been sitting right below the surface, suffocated until this moment (”i’m scared, sam,” a crack in his voice, an inhale of breath, and he looks a second from losing it. but it’s dean so he won’t, he’ll hold on by the skin of his teeth with his heart spilling out of his mouth, red with the blood of his own truths. “i’m terrified of losing you.”). 
There’s very little in between. There’s almost never any emotionally removed or more clinical discussion of his feelings like you might get with Sam. (”you want me to say i’m scared? of course i’m scared. i’m terrified, dean, but that’s not the point here. the point is -”). Because Dean struggles to accept and avow his painful internal emotional landscape, he struggles to discuss it in a way that’s removed, so it becomes very intense when he does.

What this also means for writing emotional dialogue is that although Dean does not lack insight into his emotions, where they come from, and why he’s feeling the way he is, he’ll very seldom provide you an in depth explanation. This may make him seem less emotionally mature, but really what’s happening is a struggle to put those feelings into words. Discussion of anxiety, insecurity, and trauma are put into boxes he can more easily communicate - fear, anger, violence. Less “I overreacted because I was scared of losing you” and more “I’m fucking terrified of losing you. And yeah, it pisses me off.” Dean doesn’t tend to use explanatory statements (”because”), he tends to present emotions and even concepts outside of emotional discussions as separate statements, and it becomes your job to then connect those statements (as the one he’s talking to, and as the audience).

Like I said near the start, Dean also uses longer sentences when having serious conversations. “As long as I’m around, nothing bad’s gonna happen to you.” Note the first half of that sentence acting as a qualifier (implying something bad could happen, but not when Dean is around, creating the condition upon which the whole sentence and sentiment hangs).
Less Declarative Expression
Dean expresses negative emotions like disappointment and frustration as well, but unlike his more intense/extreme negative emotions (terror, fear of abandonment, deep anger) he very seldom will declare those emotions. While he might use question and answer format, he might also control the conversation with a straightforward expression that saves him from having to say what he’s feeling while still getting it across.
For example, "Well that's great, because without your power, you're basically just a baby in a trench coat." Instead of saying he’s frustrated, he says something that gets to the point of what he’s mad about without saying he’s mad. (This is especially true when what he’s mad about is the situation. Because while these statements are about people, on the balance of things, they’re not really directed at them. Because often he’s frustrated because of something they can’t solve and he knows that). 
He’s also liable to not-declare-but-express pent up feelings he’s not ready to unpack in the same manner:

He’s obviously stressed and angry, but he doesn’t want to have to avow that anger and unpack all of where it’s coming from. It’s not the feeling of the emotion he dislikes so much as it is the examination of the underpinning reasons for it, because the dredge it up and unpack it is more painful than to let himself to continue to feel it at this low consistent level while he processes.

Outliers and End Notes
No post can fully capture and analyze 15 years of dialogue. There’s probably a million important elements to Dean’s speech that I missed. I think I want to emphasize a few things before we part. 
First - if you really want to write Dean, make sure you write him as charismatic. He uses humor, charm, deflection, questions, commands, and confidence all to control conversations and he does it seamlessly. Despite his rakish nature, he seldom if ever seems to offend people (unless he’s deliberately trying to piss them off) and you should take that into consideration when writing him. 
Keeping him fully in character will therefore involve a sort of fluidity about his speech, and those references. He is personable and exceptionally confident. He does not tend to hesitate or apologize (except in a flippant, superficial way, or in very strained emotional conversations and then only to those he loves deeply). His volume and tone are probably as or more important than his words, so consider when he’s saying something with a purr vs. with a snarl vs. shouting vs. having his voice crack into a whisper. He’s incredibly expressive with his face, but not overly gesticular with his hands (though he does gesture, just not in a way that stands out a great deal).
If you want or need him to give some type of confession in what you’re writing, you pretty much have two options. Either expressing his emotions in ways I’ve described here, or giving it the good ol’ S12 monologue where he bares his soul (when he’s inside Mary’s head). That should be reserved only for very extreme circumstances though - circumstances like saving his mother from brainwashing, discussing his hell trauma, or declaring that there’s nothing on heaven or earth he’d put before his little brother. Because in general long speeches aren’t his style.
And if you can, give some thought to what season you’re writing in. Is he still calling everyone and everything douch-y? Is he in the later seasons and more capable of unpacking his emotions directly? Is he in the early seasons where he’s trying to be Han Solo and too damn cool and smooth about everything, even his impending death?
At the end of the day - Dean is a wonderful, complex character and I hope this analysis helps some writers understanding his speech and character better!
