Lemme get uh...
11, 23, 42, 56 for Miss Joy
48, 50 for Miss Kara
And 22, 37, 47 for Cliiiiiooooo
- xoxo your biggest fan
For Joy:
11. If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?
This is so tough cuz Joy is such a wild card 😂 you’d have to out-weird whoever was impersonating her. Ask her to touch an obvious trap or other stupid reckless thing, if she doesn’t /at least/ try for it, that’s not Joy. Alternatively, say sexually suggestive stuff around “her” and if she doesn’t make a single awful sex joke then you gotta kill on sight.
23. What do they feel guilty for that the other person(s) doesn’t / don’t even remember?
Joy so rarely feels guilt, but I think she holds a non-zero amount of guilt for her past ruining a lot of the underground network she and her ex partner (???) Norma built for ferrying refugees to safety. I don’t think she ever was able to explain the complexity of her past lives and twin soul, and so Norma doesn’t know the real reasons why it was broken down
42. If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?
Joy’s TED talk would start as a fun lecture on music and performance, and then she would start bringing up really thinly veiled commentary about class inequality and she’d inexplicably intertwine kickass music with a very charged hidden message of “fuck the man.” She’d title it: “lo-fi beats to revolt to”
56. If they’re scared, who do they want comfort from? Does this answer change depending on the type of fear? (Joy)
Joy doesn’t feel fear towards “average” things, but when she was still facing the huge unknown of her lost memories of past lives, that scared her to an existential degree. She did find comfort in her party members, who for some reason stuck around and refused to be swayed by her bad choices. Without them, she’d probably seek the comfort of a good tavern and a nice lay, tbh. and sometimes she’ll do that anyway xD
For Kara:
48. Who would they say ‘yes’ to if invited to do something they abhorred / strongly didn’t want to do? (Kara)
Kara hates going to most large social gatherings, but would always go and keep Hua company as the setting’s companion of the avatar, and she never lets her little brother suffer alone. Sometimes her friends Sakiko and Shisui will talk her out of the air temple to participate in their weird wrestling events, and she’d always sweep the floor on everyone and leave as quickly as possible 😂
50. What belief / moral / personality trait do they stand by that you (mun) personally don’t agree with? (Kara)
Oh this is tough…well I guess for one, Kara is much more willing to go the “murder” route, even if she’s now a serene monk that does peace talks every day, than I am. I also think she’s a lot more devoted to a fault than myself, which I used to be 😅 but Kara has a single minded devotion that led her to some sad consequences and mistakes…
For Clio:
22. What simple activity that most people do / can do scares your character? (Clio)
This is so embarrassing for her, but being a rich kid growing up never having to do the most basic chores…Clio cannot figure out laundry. She’s terrified of ruining her fanciest clothes and is baffled about the concept of clotheslines. “I mean some random stranger can just snatch my stockings whenever they want!”
37. What’s a secret they haven’t told serious romantic partners and don’t plan to tell? (Clio)
Ohohohoh…I don’t think Clio would ever tell anyone, including romantic partners (even her lifelong crush & eventual partner Po), about the origins of some of the scars she has from childhood. Some are self-inflicted, while others were punishments for misbehaving or failing to meet expectations of her parents. Clio would have a very hard time bringing those memories up, and no amount of therapy would make it easier to talk about.
47. Who have they forgotten about that remembers them very well? (Clio)
I think there was a bard we met on the road in the campaign I played her in, and she really heckled him and gave him tons of shit. I bet he remembers her 😂 Alternatively, I think she probably bullied another kid at magic school and it really left an impression on them, but Clio eventually goes through her Redemption Arc (tm) and forgets she did that. Maybe they confront her 50 years later and she’s like, “oh, shit. Sorry, um. Here’s 100gp. Does that..make up for it?”

So we all know how dallas died at the end because johnny died and he thought that johnny was the only one who loved him/ how he loved Johnny (platonicly)
Now idk if you ever watched banana fish its an anime, so if you haven't and want to then don't read the next part (if you do want to watch it look up the tws for it) if you don't care for spoilers then please keep reading
The main character ash dies at the end. He dies because he thinks that it would be better for enji so he wouldn't put him in danger. But also because he believes he isn't good enough for enji. So he dies.
They die for opposite reasons mostly
Dallas dies because he thinks Johnny was the only one who loved him who would love him. While ash dies because he loves enji and didn't want to put him in danger. But one thing they have in common is that they both didn't think they were goos enough to keep living. For both of them dying was for them peaceful.
Idk this was a dumb analysis I did on two very different pieces of media that do not relate to each other in the slightest but I thought was interesting.
i haven't watched it but i've read the original story 😭 it's obviously not incredibly similar but i'll definitely add it to my list of things to watch :D
as i haven't watched it, I can't offer much thought on that part of your analysis, but I agree with your analysis of Dallas's death. It was peaceful for him, even if he did it out of sadness, because he didn't have to worry about anything anymore, he wanted an out and he got one. I'm sure that he knew he'd die young, he was always purposefully getting into fights and causing trouble with the law (more on this later), and I have to assume that he knew he couldn't outrun his fate forever. Dallas sees the good of the world in Johnny, and doesn't in himself. He knew that if the last shred of goodness he saw in the world was gone, that he couldn't carry on anymore. He knew he couldn't contribute the same level of purity and goodness to the world, so he chose to take himself out of it. I think this has a lot to do with what I posted about earlier, about how he's not cold or unfeeling because he doesn't care, but that he's cold and unfeeling because he cares too much.
Clearly, something happened when he was living in New York, something big, and I think it was the first and only time he'd shown any sort of vulnerability. and it backfired on him. He didn't have the emotional support that he needed in that time, and therefore didn't have anyone telling him to get back up and dust himself off, as most of us do when we experience loss or trauma. So, because no one was there to help him through it, he didn't get through it. It hung over his head for the rest of his life, and he let it rule his entire personality. He stopped feeling things, because he never wanted to be as sad as he was that day/period of time ever again. self-preservation was the only way he could survive, but it wasn't out of genuine distaste for the world, it was just because he was so hurt by whatever happened to him while he was still developing, and decided to never feel that way again. I am a huge advocate for the idea that he's not an ass, he's just depressed. Now, of course, he acts like an ass, a lot, but I don't think that's all there is to him. His behavior, that self preservation and numbness is textbook depression, all he wanted was to never break again. Ponyboy observes Dallas as tough, but I perceive him as broken. You can't break something that's tough, but you also can't break what's already broken. He just manages to bury his feelings so deep inside of him that no one thinks they exist anymore, and maybe they don't.
this leads me to my next point, on how i think the only reason he got into all of the trouble that he did was to feel something. He'd shut off his emotions for so long, tried so hard to never feel sad again, that he couldn't come back from it. He went too far, instead of never feeling sadness again, he never felt anything again. He was truly numb, and he realized this, and desperately wanted to feel something again. Which is why I think he caused so much trouble. You can shut off your emotions, but you can't shut off your senses, and getting punched in the face is a hell of a way to feel something. if that was the only thing he could feel, it's no wonder that he sought it out so frequently. Of course he wanted to get kicked in the stomach, because it felt like something, and physical pain sucks, but if it's the only thing you're capable of feeling anymore, that's all you can do.
uh, thank you for coming to my ted talk, i could sit and analyze Dallas Winston for hours. Might just go and write an essay on it, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me! I really enjoyed reading and responding to this, I'll definitely check out Banana Fish :D <33

hello !! i came to say hello but your inbox says cake topics so now i have to ask you about cake topics i suppose. what's your favorite kind of cake to make? what's your favorite kind to eat? in fact what is your favorite thing to bake in general and is it the same as your favorite baked thing to eat? i realize that isn't necessarily cake related but i'm kind of just going with the flow now. circling back: if you encountered cake as in hood/hemmings what cake as in baked good would you want to make them? is this nonsense? maybe. i'm having a cup of tea and when i'm done with it i will have another and i love you!!!!!! let's do a puzzle soon. xoxo bella
hello babe! @clumsyclifford thank u for joining me on cake topics! man these are some QUESTIONS ok i am currently walking to my booster vax appt let’s do this
i love making birthday cakes. and i don’t mean this in the traditional birthday cake sense, i make all sorts of different cakes for birthdays often with many layers and flavours, but making a cake specifically for someone on their birthday is the best.
i feel very strongly about not choosing my favourite cake to eat because i like so much cake. a chocolate fudge cake that’s perfectly moist, a victoria sponge filled with strawberries and cream, a lemon drizzle that’s zesty and sweet at the same time, coffee cake (that actually tastes of coffee) is so good
in terms of everything else love baking bread when you knead it by hand because it’s very therapeutic, but i also like making fun little fancy fiddly things like macarons and meringue kisses. i really like a bakewell tart to eat but don’t often make them myself because there’s lots of steps and it takes a long time
i’d like to invite hood/hemmings to a tea party. i think if i got that opportunity i would go all out; breads, scones, cakes, mini tarts, macarons, the whole shebang. with a big pot of tea and my matching cups and saucers. i would ask calum about his carrot cake recipe and discuss bread with luke
i realise i have not answered a single one of these properly but i hope they will suffice as answers 🥰 i invite any more cake discussion at any point

Dear otonymous, I have read your MLQC character ABCs and i would like to inform you that i am not amused and inquire where do you get these ideas. My husband caught me reading this and afterwards he divorced me. He was wondering if the vivid details were based on our lacking experiences. If there is one message i want to spread is reading these pieces can ruin lives. Sincerely, A former accidental reader (Also otonymous hun, take care of yourself and get your mind out that gutter)
Dearest Nonny,
I have to say that this Ask left me somewhat perplexed when I read it.  It was and remains difficult to tell whether or not it was meant as a joke, and it is after much consideration that I decided to address your comment in the off chance that it wasn’t meant in jest.
Let me begin by offering my sincerest sympathies if you are, indeed, experiencing difficulties in your relationship with your significant other.  I can only imagine that it must be a very distressing and disorienting time for you, and I wish you nothing but the best in navigating the situation.
That being said, I feel your comments bring up a number of important issues that require addressing, the first of which being the role of personal responsibility.
My blog and its contents are meant to be consumed by adults and is clearly labelled as such.  As an adult, one is expected to have the sound judgment to decide on what is considered proper behaviour, and I use the term ‘proper’ very loosely in recognition of the fact that what one feels to be acceptable may not be to another, depending on a wide variety of factors such as education, religion, the circumstances under which we were brought up, etc.  This point will be further elaborated on below.
Part of being recognized as an adult and gaining the liberties that come with it is that we are expected to be responsible for our own actions.  For better or for worse, we bear the consequences of the decisions we make.
You mentioned that you have read my NSFW MLQC character ABCs; not just one, but presumably for each of the 4 male leads.  Each of these pieces takes, on average, 10 minutes to read.  Each post also includes a “Read More” link, specifically put in place so that readers won’t accidentally stumble upon adult-oriented content if they choose not to consume it.  Furthermore, said posts are tagged with warnings about the content contained therein.  Hence, given all the above, dear former accidental reader, I would assume that one would have to go to great lengths to accidentally stumble upon all that NSFW content.
As an adult, which I will assume you are given that you were perusing my blog, you made a conscious decision to continue reading my work.  Thus, any and all consequences of your behaviour — including the unfortunate dissolution of your relationship — lies with you.  It is neither logical nor fair for you to attempt to place blame and guilt on the author.
The second issue in your Ask which warrants discussion is your prescription that I “get my mind out of the gutter.”  As a writer, I enjoy crafting stories that involve elements of love and sexuality, two very important components of the human experience.  I embrace all forms of sexual expression, given that it is consensual, between adults who are capable of making informed decisions, and safe for all parties involved.
As I mentioned above, what one person is comfortable with in terms of sexual behaviour may differ significantly from another’s.  This, I can understand.  What I staunchly oppose, however, is the laying down of judgment on the sexual proclivities of others — especially on strangers that, quite frankly, one knows nothing about.
It is my personal belief that others should never be made to feel ashamed or guilty when it comes to sexual expression, provided that the tenets set out above are satisfied.  For far too long, women and other marginalized members of society have been made to view their sexual desires as “dirty,” topics that need to be suppressed, or — to extrapolate from your words — be relegated to the proverbial gutter, never to see the light of day.
Love is beautiful, intercourse its expression, and great sex an art form.  What you find disgusting may be intensely stimulating to another.  But, as an adult, you have the right to choose what you do and do not consume.  What you do not have is the right to dictate what is and isn’t considered proper behaviour to another such as myself.
So, dear former reader, my mind will happily remain in that gutter of creativity while my heart soars high in the sky with lightness — happy and content in the knowledge that my writing helped save marriages in the course of allowing others to get their proverbial rocks off.
On a final note Nonny, you said that “reading these pieces can ruin lives,” and to that I only seek to ask the following questions:
Have you stopped to consider why you were drawn to my work in the first place?  And have you considered why your significant other reacted so strongly to you reading such material?  Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong, but if he were insecure about the “lacking experiences” in your sexual relationship, would he be willing to remedy that if it were something you truly desired?  If he refused, how would that decision sit with you?
Sometimes, things need to fall apart in order for us to learn more about ourselves and those around us, hopefully growing stronger and more self-aware in the process.
In the off-chance that your Ask really wasn’t meant to be a joke, dear Nonny, I’d still like to thank you for sharing your thoughts because it provided the perfect opportunity for me to share mine. First, that my posts are written for adults, and as adults, I expect us all to have the maturity to take responsibility for our own actions.  No one is being forced to do anything here, and as such, we need to behave accordingly, even when acting under the cover of anonymity.  Second, my blog is a safe space, welcome to those who may have felt or do feel marginalized because of their sexual orientation or desires in any way.  Given that sex is safe and between fully consenting adults who are capable of making their own informed decisions, it’s all love.💕
A giant THANK YOU to those of you who’ve read this to the very end!  Dearest Anon, I hope you can understand where I’m coming from, and please know that I do sincerely wish you the very best.
- XOXO, Otonymous

I want to talk to my therapist about my abuse but I'm really scared. I've mentioned it a couple of times and she knows about it in a very vague sense but I'm getting really paranoid about being abused again and I need help with that but I'm scared. I've had so many people react badly or skeptically and she's been mostly great so far but everyone else seemed that way too. Do you have any advice on talking about it?
Hello,
I understand why you are so nervous to talk to your therapist! So many people haven’t believed you or reacted in a negative way, it’s totally normal for you to try and protect yourself by wondering if your therapist will act the same way.
You don’t have to talk about past abuse if you don’t want to during your sessions, but because you mentioned that you are worried about being abused again, I strongly encourage to open up to your therapist about your current fears. They don’t have to be based on your past if you aren’t comfortable, but you can outline what behaviors are happening now that have you worried, and you don’t have to mention that your worries stem from past experiences.
I wish I could tell you that you should always trust your therapist because they will always react in a supportive way, but I can’t promise that. However, I know that MOST therapists (and I’m in the field myself, so I’m speaking from personal and professional experience) are trained very, very well to do their job, and their job entails believing, listening to, and supporting their client. I believe you and I strongly believe that your therapist will believe you too, especially as you mentioned that so far they have been great so far. It’s uncommon for therapists to turn into a completely different person from topic to topic: there are good therapists and bad therapists, and if you believe you have a good one, then believe they are good through and through.
You don’t have to share all your fears in one session, especially since you are so nervous. You can begin by asking pointed questions like, “What would you suggest to someone who is afraid they are not being treated kindly by their (partner/parent/sibling/co-worker/etc)?” or “Do you have experience with clients who are in abusive relationships? What do you usually do to help them?”
You also don’t have to tell them, “I think I’m in an abusive relationship, help.” You can outline the things that are being done that make you uncomfortable or are hurtful to you and see what they suggest. If after testing the waters you feel more comfortable with their ability to support you, begin sharing more and more information.
Does this all sound like an approach you are able to take? I want you to be as comfortable as possible, but I think it’s important that you open up to your therapist and seek their guidance in this matter. I believe you and I think they will, too.
Some notes that I think are important to cover:
If your therapist does not react in a supportive way and makes you feel worse, then they are a bad therapist and you should try to find a new one.
If you are in immediate danger or feel as if you are going to come to harm, please talk to someone (even if it’s not your therapist) right away and ask for help.
xoxo,
Mod Vivian

dont be so fucking salty that yoi was obviously the better anime. making fucking fanart and shit is just not only rude to the fans, but to the whole fucking show. honestly, you're a fucking prick.
Just gonna say right off the bat, ha lmao u thought i’d ignore this but no im too petty.
Also to anyone who’s interested in my thoughts on the crunchyroll poll results below, please know I am a very vulgar person and that it’s gonna be a L O N G reply.  TL;DR at the bottom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fucking be tch fight me.  Not gonna deny being a prick tbh, I’m the pettiest and saltiest person I know.  It’s almost as if I make art to express personal disappointment towards something.  Amazing, art for expression is such a new concept.  Instead of telling me what fanart “attacks” your limited view of technical animation elements, maybe create some fanart congratulating YOI for the win.
Right off the bat, your over-generalization of the YOI fandom astounds me.  What kind of bullshit “!!1! YOI MUST WIN ALL AWARDS! 1!!!” mentality do you have to group all fans with the likes of you.  And I can assure you many of the people I spoke to about this are huge fans of YOI AND feel the same way.  This is an ANIMATION award, not ANIME please read before bashing.  Am I glad that YOI won anime of the year?  Fuck yes, which show do you think I voted for.  YOI is beautiful in an emotional sense and game-changing in culture towards homosexuals.  Best couple?  Victuuri had my heart from day one.  Best boy?  Debatable (im bias towards reigen if we’re gonna be honest here he the tru mvp).  Being a fan of a show doesn’t mean supporting a show in every single category, especially not “BEST ANIMATION”.
Since we’re on the topic of ANIMATION let’s break down YOI first and dispel some ideas behind why people think it deserves the “Best Animation” award.  It told a beautiful story!!!  It has such emotional intensity in almost every scene!!  It’s wonderful in story telling!!!  And directly speaking, I agree with every single statement but story telling is an overview of a show that is highly subjective to each person.  OH BUT WAIT YOU KNOW WHAT ISN’T???  Animation.  Memes aside, YOI’s animation can not be judged purely on single screenshots cause i guarantee all shows will have shitty stretch frames.  However, the technique of storytelling that makes YOI emotionally compelling is not in the technical aspects of the animation itself.  Literally get off your high horse and just watch YOI without any audio.  Literally in every single skate scene, you’re never focused on the animation, only on the narratives and soundtrack of the routine.  Well rounded characters made the show and I swear to god the only reason you’re still focused on the routines is because of the characters and no more.  Aside from detailed butt grabs from Chris and Gucci lips from Victuuri, YOI’s animation is mediocre at best.  And this is on the good end of the spectrum.  “THAT’S SO OFFENSIVE TO FANS HOW COULD YOU?!?!11?”  This is a given fact with the low budget and rushed schedule to release new episode.  A cut in animation quality is EXPECTED.  The YOI team knew this and animation quality was never their top priority as opposed to a compelling and unique storyline so wherrrrr the fu ck is this insulting to fans.
Now let’s discuss Mob Psycho 100.  You can disagree and hate the STYLE of the animation but you CAN NOT deny the efforts and advancement the show has brought towards the animation industry.  This show ASSAULTED MY EYES.  The emotional intensity of this show was expressed so much more through the animation elements.  Explosion of colors and constant rotating angles provide a whole new dynamic to every single sequence.  Go ahead and claim that “it’s only this way because it’s an action show” all you want but even without fight scenes, the timing of the shots are amazing.  The staggering in Mob’s sprint.  The hallway shot of the Telepathy club walking.  Such simple frames keep me fixated on the show much more than YOI’s parts.  It forces you into this overwhelmed state where you try to keep up with everything that’s happening in the scene and it’s so beautiful with the way it’s all represented.  Best of all, it’s PROGRESSIVE.
Miyo Sato (click her name for her site) is an artist who works in a non-conventional way.  The whole ENDING SEQUENCE was animated by her.  Those weird sketchy, paintery frames? BY HER.  Do you understand how time consuming and painstaking this animation technique is??? DO YOU??  She essentially shifts drying oil paints around on a glass surface to create the the animation, individually or laid over a 2D animated shot.  It is so rare you see a HIGH BUDGET animation willing to take such creative risks as well as introducing a traditional medium as a technique.  Not to mention, Mob Psycho 100 is the epitome of creative expression.  It’s as if the animators gave zero fucks about the sensory overload for viewers and just shoved it in our faces.  Also my weeb ass basically worships Yoshimichi Kameda.  MP100 is an anime with with a HIGH BUDGET.  And again, you CAN NOT DENY that the animation is on a whole other league compared to YOI.  With the team presented and budget given, it was EXPECTED of them to create such a beautiful piece of art.
Before you or anyone else try to accuse me of being “triggered af” look at who was sensitive af in the first place.  I feel very strongly about animation and the doodle was nothing more than a contribution to a running meme and gag between both fandoms.  Am I disappointed????  Fuck yes.  Do you see me bashing other categories cause my votes didn’t win????  At the end of the day, Crunchyroll released a fanpoll that was meant to be a fun “survey” of all anime fans.  Sadly, choices were VERY limited and I wished there were more options for each category.  I was upset that YOI was even considered for “Best Animation” and know VERY well that it was only added to appease the sudden popularity of the show and feed off of the energy of fans.  Unrelated to the two fandoms but I would have also wanted recognition for Ajin with it’s incoorporation of 3D animation.  It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and I highly doubt it would have won, or honestly, deserved to win over Mob Psycho 100.  But it would have been nice to have some recognition for shows that took a step outside of mainstream norms (not that there is anything wrong with that).  On top of that, my doodle was based off my disappointment behind the mentality that YOI had to win everything as if it was a competition for most backed-up fandom.  I’m just extremely upset at the fact that while it claims to be a poll for a “well deserved title”, it ultimately became a imaginary game of popularity.  Before you send another ask saying YOI was pretty good for its budget, ya it was.  But smh if you’re gonna judge the worth of animation based on budget then you’re gonna find yourself facing whether or not paying for specific element was worth the money.
TL;DR:
Fuck you im a tru YOI fan too fight me, I have credentials and official fan certification from my trash retweets.  Smh I can’t believe my disappointment offended a whole fandom, in which I, along with many other YOI fans who agree with the same points are in.  I love generalization.  Point is.  YOI is a beautifully well written show.  However, this was never a battle of fandom strengths and sizes, merely the decently to give credit to a show when it’s due.
xoxo im out bih

My stages of love
Love.  It’s as simple as playing with your partner’s radio station, a kiss on the forehead, or a simple text message in the day.
Love can do crazy things and sometimes leaves you a lacuna in your heart.
He is my love - my future, and he is sulit enough for me to hold on.
I can’t speak for all of the girls out there in the world, but I will speak for myself (and probably a few readers who can relate to this topic).  My stages of love.
Throughout the days, you see him.  You’re somehow very curious about him and will do anything things to grab his attention.  You make a move and when he says his first words to you, your heart melts.  You’re also frozen to the touch of being nervous.
Weeks later, you’re starting to know one another.  You understand each other’s flaws and strengths, but still fall in love with them over and over again.
Months later, he touches you.  He holds you the way you like to be held.  He kisses you while mini shocks of excitement are running down your spine.  He supports your lower back while you run your fingers through that blonde hair of his.  He pulls your closer to his body while you hold onto him tighter.  You can’t do anything but feel so close, safe, and warm next to him.
A year later, you got the hang of things.  You can recognize the touch of his skin, the feeling of his kiss, and the emotions running through your mind when he explains why you are so beautiful through his eyes.  You fall deeply in love with him.
Years later, you come to the point where you feel either lost or strongly committed towards the love the you both built.  Your partner is 100 miles away while you’re still stuck at home.  You find a boy who you’ve been friends with for years.  The both of you start hanging out with each other and attending to local events as each other’s dates.  Then you end up exchanging one another’s love and wonder what life would’ve been like if you said “yes” to the question he asked you, years ago, when the both of you were single.
You realize that you’re lost.
Broken.
Sad.
At the end of the year later, you’re at the stage where no one can make you happy, but you.  You begin to doubt yourself and loose hope in your current relationship.  You contemplate whether or not the two of you are really meant to be.  You prepare when, where, and how you’re going to finally break up with him.
Now, you understand that relationships are not what you see on TV.  It’s not an easy “happily ever after”.  It’s built on hope, love, trust, and courage.  Even though you have your ups and downs, the number one thing you will always have is HIM. He will continue to keep you safe, always support you, and forever love you.

Apps that can help you on the SAT and/or ACT
Apps that can help you on the SAT and/or ACT
Are you getting ready to take the SAT or ACT? Or are you looking from something that can refresh your memory of things you learned in school, whether it be for a college placement test, helping someone to do homework etc.? Do you want it to be easy, free and able to go everywhere with you? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then what I have to share with you in this post is just what you need.
Topic Overview:
I discovered, last year, two apps that help you study for the SAT and the ACT. The two apps are named Ready4SAT and Ready4ACT. They are made by the same people and are very similar in layout and how they work. I will go into detail on what both offer, how they work and steps to take. I will also try and get pictures of the apps in this blog to show you what I mean. They both are free unless you want the premium package which does cost but it give a you even more help to prep for the SAT/ACT.
What is Offered:
What both offer is, after you take the first assessment to see what your weakness is in when it comes to math etc., individualized lessons that can be viewed in two ways. The first way is like a map that you follow and when you get to a certain point there is a little quiz to help test your ability to see how much your weakness has turned to strength. The second way is a list way which allows to focus on one subject. Example, with the one for SAT it goes in order from: Writing, Reading, Math with a calculator and last Math without a calculator. In the list form you can see your progress on each subject while in map for you can see your progress over all, which you can see in both forms at the top. Both apps also give you an estimated score on each test over all and in each subject. There is also a horn icon in the bottom right hand corner on the map view that lets you choose what you want to show up on the map view. After you complete a section the may be a button in the bottom middle that says “update content”. You click that to see if you need anymore practice in something.
Both also have a tab at both the very top left hand corner and right below the estimated score and progress bar. The one in the left hand corner has a list of different things from a question of the day to even tutors, this part costs whether you have the premium package or not. They also offer a school matcher, date of your test, your desired score and your profile.
On the main page, under your estimated score and progress bar, there are 4 tabs. The 4 tabs are: the one that lets you choose if you want the map or lost version of sections/lessons, schools which another way for the app to match you up with schools that nay suite or interest you
How They Work:
After you take the first assessment, the app puts together lesson/sections for you to do that will help you. Typically with the map way you will have between 3-4 different lessons on writing, reading and math. In each section, which have titles like, Algebra 1 or writing style, there are 3-4 card things, like flash card, that given you a subsection on what each topic is about, like solving for a single variable or tone of a text. After you have studied the cards you then have some practices, typically 2-3 different ones, that consist of 4-5 questions. At the end of the practice you will be told how much time you took, how many you got right, some points that go to the leader board(I don’t pay attention to this), a button to press to review the now graded practice, a button to retry and a button to go to the next topic/lesson. In the review part of the practice it will give you the correct answer, whether you got it or not, and how to get that answer below the answer choices step by step.
In the list way it’s the same with the cards, practices etc. The two differences are the fact it’s in a list from by subject and when you click on the specific subject instead of being just titled something like, solving for a single variable, it’s set up as “lesson # of #” like, lesson 1 of 9, followed by what the lesson is on. Example: English,Lesson 1 of 11, Sentence Structure. In this form there is also a quiz after a certain amount of sections to test on all of the section done before the quiz. This is to make sure you remember to do the things covered in the sections. And you do have to do the quizzes to unlock the next sections.
When you click on the section/lesson in both views you will see 3-4 boxes. One will say Theory, which is where you find the flashcards, Practice Set-1 and so on in the practices. Theory is where you must start it will show up white while the rest are blue. After you have completed these they will turn back to blue but with a yellow check mark in the top right hand corner. When you have completed everything in the section/lesson it will turn blue with a yellow check mark in the top right hand corner. Then the next section, in map view will turn yellow which means you need to complete it before continuing. When it comes to the practices they are timed since the SAT and ACT are both timed tests.
Where To Get The Apps:
You can get the apps in both Google Play(how I got both on my phone) and the Apple App Store. I am not sure if you can get it on a tablet or laptop/computer.
Step-by-step How To Use:
1) After you have downloaded them, you will need to create a profile.
2) Tell the app what your desired score it and date and ,if you want to, tell what college you would like to go.
3) When you have created the profile you will need to take the assessment test.
4) After the test click on the lesson/section you want to do.
5) Click on the Theory box.
6) When you come to the first flashcard you can choose to write the notes on the back of the card down(I do this) or not. To see the the information on the back of the card tap the card to flip it around.
7) After you have completed the flashcards take the first practice set.
8) After you have completed the set I strongly recommend that you review your answers, not only to see what you got right but to also see how to get each correct answer.
9) When you have completed the set review you can either go to the next set or go to the next lesson/section.
My tips:
*Don’t just read the notes write them down so not only can you retain the information but also refer back to them when taking the practice sets,or if you need them in the future.
*Don’t try to do the all the sections/lessons in one day. Speed them out otherwise they won’t stick.
*Do 1-2 lessons/sections a day.
*After looking at or taking notes on the flashcards take a 5-10 minute break before doing the practice and maybe look over the notes you took for that section/lesson.
*Don’t rush through it, yes the practices are timed but just ignore the timer tale as much time as needed to make sure you understand it.
*If you feel you still don’t understand a certain sectio, lesson or flashcard do not be afraid to ask for extra help or go to the tutor button(if you can afford it).
*Don’t do all the practices in the section/lesson you will want to be able to got back and have some practices to do to keep the information in your memory.
*Last but not least don’t get discouraged if your score goes down or if you miss some questions on the practice sets. These apps are designed to help you to pass the real tests plus you can always go back and do other practice sets on the same section/lesson.
If you want to see the pictures of the apps check out my Facebook page with this same post that goes up tomorrow. Link: https://www.facebook.com/SarahEbony19/
Remember to be you, Be safe and always stand out from the crowd.

Growing Up In Today's Society Is More Difficult Than Growing Up Back Then
Our parents just don't fully get it. We were your age once, you know, is a common statement that teenagers and young adults hear from their parents -- and sometimes on a daily basis (more often than not). This statement is very true, obviously, because everyone did grow up; I mean, thats just simple anatomy. However, this statement also irks me, and heres why: As much as adults may disagree and naturally argue this point, I strongly believe that growing up in todays world is much more challenging than it was for past generations. Social pressures are more powerful, competition is much greater, technology is skyrocketing and everything said or done can be made public in the span of 5 seconds. Violence and danger are also more prevalent, and it seems as if numbers define a child more so than their actual abilities. Young adults, teenagers, even children, are being faced with greater struggles than any of our parents ever went through. Social pressures these days are everywhere, and children at younger ages are being exposed to them. Everyone is growing up so much quicker, and childrens innocence is being swiped away at a much younger age than necessary. The topic of discussion at a middle school table is all about drugs, alcohol, and sex. Since when has that become OK? The pressure follows teens everywhere they go, from social gatherings to behind closed doors on the internet. Unfortunately, we have social media to thank for that one. Sure, our parents were also worried about fitting in and doing the cool thing, but the peer pressure they faced was not even close to the immense pressure teenagers feel today. Instead of running around outside and playing manhunt, young teens are in someones basement drinking alcohol. Middle schoolers are vaping instead of riding somewhere and getting ice cream. Going on a movie date for the first time creates the question of, Is he going to kiss me the whole time? instead of, Should I ask for popcorn? Kids are growing up too fast, and in todays society, being rebellious and doing bad things are becoming the new norm. Kids get tormented for going against the gradient, so they roll with the flow. Social media has also caused chaos -- a whole new element of drama that adults didnt have to grow up dealing with. Everything one says or does is immediately posted, or saved onto someones camera roll, and usually never gets deleted. Adults can whine to us about how everything is "the same as it was in the past," and how it just has to do with perspective. But that is in fact not true. Social media itself is causing greater social pressures and greater risks. With social media, nothing is private. Growing up today means you grow up in a spotlight, and that comes with great responsibility. You have to constantly be aware of what you are doing, what you are saying, and who you are associating with. Because if you mess up or are with the wrong crowd, even for 10 minutes, that may backfire quicker than you can say the word backfire. Similarly, social media goes hand in hand with giving todays teens false images of perfection and what is expected vs. what is weird. Todays society is obsessed with what makes someone fat or ugly. Models wearing a size 4 are considered overweight, and celebrities walking down the street without makeup on are attacked by being called sickly. Social medias role in this is to make sure these stories and images get shown everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Todays world is so focused on appearance that many young people growing up are brainwashed and manipulated into thinking that they are not pretty enough, not desirable and not wanted. This then leads to more cases of depression, and higher suicide rates. I am not stating that this did not occur back then because I know it did. Depression and the natural instinct to not like yourself (or things about yourself) is inevitable. However, in todays society and with social media crawling at you in every direction, the urgency to be perfect is a much bigger problem now than it was before. There is such an unachievable standard that this society has created for my generation, and all teens seem to fall into its depths to at least some extent. Switching topics, the competition is also greater. Everything is way more difficult than it needs to be, especially the entire process for applying to colleges. You cannot get into your dream school without having a 4.0 GPA, being a varsity athlete for four years, being the president in three clubs, doing 100 hours of community service and having two jobs. Being involved is great, yes, but I do not think that the requirements to get into certain schools should be the way they are. I understand there is a high demand and requirements need to be put into place, but I think this should be done in a more efficient way. High schoolers are constantly thinking about ways to fill up their resume and what they can do to make themselves better than the person sitting next to them. The. Pressure. Never. Ends. Got a C on a test? Thats unheard of. Try again. Only have a 3.4 GPA? Sorry, you must get all As next semester to even stand a chance. The academic pressure is exceeding what it has ever been before, and it takes a toll on students' happiness and freedom to just be a teen and enjoy life! Even after college, it never ends. The competition to get into grad school, or to land that big internship, is so great that it begins to be the only thing on a young adults brain. Our generation needs to learn to relax, breathe, and have some hope that everything will fall into place. Numbers have slowly taken over. Whether it be a simple test grade, a GPA, an ACT score or something as silly as how many followers you have on Instagram and how many comments you get on a post. Your abilities are defined by your ACT scores, because you are only as smart as your test score shows (obviously not true, but thats how it feels). Your popularity is defined by how many likes you get on a picture, and if you get a lot, youre obviously better than Sally who only got 5 (again, NOT true). But you see, we are surrounded by these numbers, and the pressure we face stems from those. It has turned into a life or death situation, and that is not healthy. This is also where social media comes in, again. You know every achievement and every award that someone has ever been granted. People growing up today are so focused on being better than the person beside them, and bragging to all their peers about how successful and amazing they are. Life for todays teens is one giant competition, and it seems to be never ending. Danger and violence are also spiraling out of control, and the political stuff around us. Yes, politics have always been a thing, and so has violence, but it is baffling how much of an effect those are having today. It seems we are moving backward, not forward. Teens have to fear going to the movie theater these days or walking home from the pool at night. You have to get patted down to enter a food festival, and you cant wear long necklaces at schools because they are considered weapons. What is happening here? Every night on the news you hear about a new shooting, or a new person getting arrested on your street; it is truly never ending, and it certainly does not seem to be getting any better. The point Im trying to make is that sometimes adults really dont fully get it. I know they understand similar aspects and have empathy for certain scenarios that we go through, but they will never actually understand what it feels like to grow up now. It really is so different, whether they want to believe it or not. Everyone encounters struggles and challenges, but today it is especially difficult because there is always someone else to please, someone else to compete with and another higher expectation to be met. Nothing nowadays is simple, or easy. Life is not easy, and I get that, but todays youth is growing up with issues and pressures that are greater than theyve ever been. We are constantly having to watch our back, be aware of who is watching us and potentially recording us, wear the best outfit to the concert and get the very best grades to stand a chance in todays competitive world. Numbers are becoming more important than skills, and teenagers are constantly striving for an unachievable goal of perfection. Sometimes I wish I could rewind time and grow up in the time my parents did, or at least wish that the adults in our lives would somehow understand the great pressure and challenges we are all being consumed by. Hi Shwe! As a Burmese, was the term "Rohingya" ever used in your household to refer to the Muslims living in Burma? I am Burmese but we never used that term. I didn't even know about the term until I was reading articles on the issue of the killing of the Rohingya in Burma. I also would like to know how do you feel about Aung San Suu Kyi not speaking out about it (not standing up for the Rohingyas)?
Hello! It was not..In fact, I did not even learn of the Rohingyas until my freshman year in college at 3 in the morning. I remember that very moment precisely. I was reading comments on a post of a picture of a boat full of Rohingyas fleeing persecution, and they were awful. They were so awful and disgusting. What was worse was that it was written in Burmese, a language that was spoken in my home, by my mom, my dad. I had never felt so repulsed by the Burmese language until that moment. All I felt was anger. I felt so angry I started crying. I didn’t know what to do. I called my mom. I called a lady that I knew was a social activist in the Seattle Burmese community (of course she didn’t pick up, it was 3 in the morning). I remember feeling so helpless. That was the first time I learned of the Rohingya community in Burma. I have so many thoughts and feelings when it comes to this topic, and I would love to talk more with you on it, if you’d like!As for Aung San Suu Kyi, I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I am just as puzzled as the global community as to why she is not using her humanitarian status to speak up for the human rights of the Rohingyas. I really wish she would. I believe she has a lot of influence on the people of Burma and what she say and does not say can really make an impact. On the other hand, the majority of Burma is still largely close-minded. Some have advocated on her behalf saying that she is being a smart politician. If she were to speak up for the Rohingyas, she would lose a lot of her supporters. And if that were to happen, she would lose her stature overall. If she is no longer in a position of power, there is no way she can make a difference or bring changes to the government. Some say that she is being strategic by not speaking up as much on the issue. While I can understand this, I can’t agree with it. I believe she is losing the support of humanitarians and human rights activists around the world while winning the support of the islamophobic, close-minded individuals in Burma. I don’t know. It’s hard. She has always been my hero. Her words have always been full of grace and wisdom. It really does hurt to see that she hasn’t spoken up as strongly as I believe she should. Again, I feel so strongly on this issue. Please feel free to contact me on Facebook or over a cup of tea if you’d like to talk more on this (because I would love to!). xoxoShwe
