Azul: Jade, did you hear something about Floyd writing an autobiography of Granny?
Jade: Why, yes.
Azul: ...
Azul: Does he have the motivation to do that?
Jade: *chuckles* I'm not sure. However, you will see him writing in the kitchen.
Azul: ...
Jamil: How's that autobiography you're doing, Floyd?
Floyd: Going well~.
Ace: Are you seriously writing it? You haven't gotten bored on it yet?
Floyd: What are you trying to say, crabby? That I don't have perseverance?
Ace: N-Not at all, but-
Jamil: Can we read it when it's done?
Floyd: Sure. Granny will read it first though. Hehe~.
Floyd: *showing to Granny the autobiography he's written of her*
Floyd: What do you think, Granny?
Grandma MC: Oh, this is beautiful. The cover and your handwriting... Did you make all of these?
Floyd: *happy nod*
Grandma MC: *genuinely happy smile* I am going to treasure this forever.
Floyd: You should, Granny. I will never make this again to anyone.
Grandma MC: *chuckles* Oh, I feel so special knowing that.
Grandma MC: What would you like as a thank you gift?
Floyd: Surprise me, Granny.
Grandma MC: I'm not really good with surprised, but I will try my best, son. *smiles*
Vil: *reading Granny's autobiography* ...
Vil: We need to make a TV series out of this.
Rook: Oui! I completely agree!
Epel: Um... No offense.
Epel: But I would rather not see anything like that...
Vil: Why not?
Epel: ...
Epel: I think no one in Twisted Wonderland can depict what Granny is like.
Vil: ...
Vil: You have a point.
Rook: You're certainly right, himeringo. How about we travel back in time instead?
Vil and Epel: ...
Malleus: I can't travel back in time, however, it is possible for me to view someone's past.
Lilia: Indeed. That would need some magic which will not be a problem for Malleus.
Sebek: Rejoice, human! Waka-sama has granted your wish!
Ace: Should we do like, a movie viewing?
Riddle: If there's a way to record the events-
Idia: I'll do it. With the help of Ortho, of course.
Ortho: Sure thing!
Vil: Have you informed this to Granny?
Deuce: Yes. She told us to enjoy and she'll cook us food while she waits for us.
Trey: *chuckles* We're all getting spoiled.
Vil: I'll be informing Leona, Azul, and Kalim about our plans.
Lilia: It would be easier if we just make an announcement.
Grandma MC: Are you not going to join them, Grim?
Grim: Hmph! It's way better to stay here and enjoy your food, Granny!
Grandma MC: *chuckles* Is that so? Or you just don't want to be jealous?
Grim: Me? Jealous? As if! *has read in the autobiography that Granny had her first-ever cat*
Grim: You know that, Granny! I can't be compared!
Grandma MC: Of course. *cuddling him* Grim is a very handsome and smart kitty. *petting him*
Grim: *giggles* Praise me more, Granny!

bo peep 🦢
wc - 1.1K
🏷️ tags - boyfriend!harry, fem!reader, long distance relationship, fluff, slight angst if you squint.
pairings - boyfriend!harry & fem!reader 🕰️🎧
summary - y/n is hiding something, or someone, from harry, who is on the other side of the world.
(a/n) no spellcheck, so i apologize in advance! i wrote this in like five mins so it’s kinda.. blah but I wanted to share it :)
Tumblr media
“so.. I did a thing.” is the first thing y/n says to him after accepting his facetime.
“oh no..” harry chuckles, his eyes furrowing in confusion, and a little worry.
“please don’t be mad.”
“well.. love, that depends on what it is..” harry says, his once playful mood beginning to diminish. what if it’s something serious?
“it’s something that could change our relationship forever.” y/n says, a blank face staring back at harry through the screen. uncomfortable chills run down his body, and he wishes he wasn’t miles away from her.
“is this something we should be discussing over facetime then..?” harry sighs, a frown taking over his features. he was excited to call y/n after his show, having missed her the whole day, but now this uncertainty is fucking up his day.
“i better just show you now..i think it would be better this way.” y/n explains, shuffling heard from her end. from the background, he can tell y/n is still in their “shared” bedroom in england. (it’s harry’s, but he likes to call it’s theirs) for some reason, this eases his anxiety slightly.
“come here, it’s okay.” he hears y/n whisper.
“did you adopt a baby or summat? why are you cooing..” harry starts, but his words become quiet as the smallest little white kitten enters the frame.
it’s silent for a moment, until the little thing meows, and harry barks out a laugh that startles the kitten.
“oh god, love— i thought— I thought this was something serious!” he says in between laughs, attempting to catch his breath.
y/n pretends to be offended, but the smile she fights off her face says otherwise. “oi! this is very serious. could make or break our relationship, because im not returning her.” she explains, making harry smile at her cuteness.
“i thought we agreed no pets? for now atleast..” harry says. since he’s always touring, traveling, moving, adopting a pet just wouldn’t fit into that lifestyle. they’d have to get pet sitters, who more often than not would be spending more time with the kitten than them.
“i know but.. it’s so lonely here. i need a companion. when me and y’mum visited the animal shelter and i saw this sweet little angel.. I couldn’t leave her there. anne said she kinda looks like you too.”
harry chuckles, “should’ve known my mum had something to do with this. crazy cat lady.”
“don’t call your mother that.” she hisses, although knowing, there is some truth to his words.
harry ignores her comment, “im sorry that you feel lonely. long distance is..hard. but are you sure about this? when you join me on tour it’s gonna be difficult with a kitten.”
“im sure. ill take her everywhere if i have to, she’s the sweetest, calmest girlie ever.”
“and it’s okay, i knew what i was getting myself into when we started dating.”
harry frowns at that. “i feel like a shit boyfriend.” he admits, sighing. y/n frowns back, setting the kitten down on harry’s side of the bed, which he envy’s for a split second.
“your an amazing boyfriend harry. so don’t say that.”
“i feel like i’m neglecting you— i should be with you.”
y/n shakes her head,”y’not. long distance isn’t rare y’know? you love touring, it makes you happy, I’m not upset. sure it gets..lonely, but that’s just part of being miles apart right? would be weird if I didn’t get lonely.. the love of my life is across the world!” she laughs.
harry smiles, making no attempt to cover the blush that tints his cheeks. for the first time in a relationship, he feels theirs a mutual bond of just..love, and needing eachother.
“you make me happy too, more than touring i reckon.” he says, making her pout dramatically through the screen. “don’t make me cry in front of bo peep haz.” she sniffs.
“bo peep? as in… from toy story? you named the kitten bo peep?” harry says, a serious look on his face before he breaks into laughter.
“wha? it’s a good name! i call her bo for short. don’t laugh at it! and also, not just from toy story..it’s a nursery rhyme too.” she says, acting offended.
“sorry love, it’s not a bad name. i kinda love it. bo.” he tries.
y/n smiles, nodding, before she yawns.
“tired babe?” harry asks, remembering it’s pretty early for her right now. it’s ‘twelve am’ for him.. so it’s like, five or six am for her.
“mhmh..couldn’t fall asleep with this little one.. feel like a new parent. im scared something will happen to her. also, wanted to hear your voice.” she says, yawning again at the end of her sentence.
harry coos, “imagine when we have babies, you’re gonna be a wreck.” he laughs. the topic isn’t foreign, or uncomfortable for them. in the two years they’ve been together, talking about babies and marriage is something that always comes up in their conversations, especially late night ones.
in past relationships, talking about children so early on would frighten harry, but with her.. it just seems so normal. he can talk about their nonexistent babies and actually picture their family; curly brown haired babies with harrys green eyes but their mothers face.
“me? y’know your gonna be much worse. i can already see you freaking out.” she tiredly laughs, images of harry frightened when her water breaks, or when their baby takes a small little tumble that wouldn’t leave more than just a tiny scratch.
harry laughs, “your not completely wrong.”
“is bo asleep?” harry asks, watching y/n’s eyes shoot awake. he feels bad, she almost succumbed to her much needed slumber, but harry wasn’t done talking to her.
“umm,” she says, sitting up to look a bo, who is nuzzled comfortably into harrys pillow, soft meows involuntarily leaving her.
“look at her.” y/n coos, moving the camera so harry can see bo.
“awhh, she’s adorable. i can’t wait to meet her. will you send me photos?” harry says. as soon as he’s up tomorrow, he’s gonna show all the crew members their newest addition.
“mhmm.. i already have a photo album for her.”
her words are lazier, indicating harry should let her sleep now, much to his dissatisfaction.
“alright baby, it’s been good talking to you, but I think you need to sleep now.” harry smiles, causing y/n to groan, “m’sorry i couldn’t talk long..will you stay on the phone?”
harry shakes his head, “think we both know that only ends with me talking off y’ear love. you can call me when you wake up.” he says.
y/n frowns, but nods. “g’night harry, i love you. bo loves you.”
“night, love you both, sending my kisses.” he says, finally signing off when y/n blows him a kiss.

"=⌕ CALLING THE FONTAINE GIRLS YOUR GOOD GIRL /
Fontaine girls x Creator!Reader
Furina - I will not only judge travelers from abroad... but even the gods of other lands.
Furina looks up at you in surprise, but she complies with a nod. She folds her legs and sits in your lap, her expression completely innocent as she waits to see what her grace commands her to do. "What a good girl you are~" you say while playing with her hair. Furinas face flushes pink at your praise, and she shifts uncomfortably in your lap; this is much more intimate than she's used to with you. It only lasts for a moment, though, as she quickly regains her composure as she reminds herself of her place in your court.
She smiles up at you, and for a brief moment, a genuine, bright smile spreads across her face; something more suited to a happy child than a Archon. "You sure like being my good girl, hm Furina?" A slight tease in your tone, but it's still layered with genuine curiosity. Furina nods again, a slight blush still spreading across her cheeks.
Her voice is soft, even as he struggles to maintain her composure. "Of course, my grace." She tilts her head up to look at you, those ocean eyes of hers studying you curiously.
*Am I doing a good job, my grace? Am I still your good girl? Is my work pleasing for you?*
You lean forward, your soft lips touching her ear, it's sending enjoyable shivers down her spine as you say "I love you" Furina leans a bit into your touch, her expression softening as she closes her eyes and let's out a whine.
Your gentle caress stirs something deep within her, a sense of warmth that has been vacant for a long time before you spoke those words. Her body shivers at the feel of your breath, and she leans back against you; her face, for the first time, is completely untroubled.
Her voice is still soft, but it holds a sense of quiet certainty now.
"I love you too, my Paradies."
Lynette - Staying silent is beneficial for maintaining focus and gathering intelligence
Lynette can't help her knees to quiver and her ears to tingle. She meets your gaze once more, and the heat of your love burns her cheeks; they redden like the setting sun. What is happening, this is new...what is this
She does as you say, her movements quick but careful. She climbs onto your lap and faces you. Her eyes can't look ag you, staring at the ground— and she feels a sense of tranquility wash over her; as if your presence alone makes her feel like he belongs right in your presence. "You're my good girl, hm? My good girl only..." At your praise, Lynette looks up at you and smiles softly. You're praise is one of the only few things she wants and craves.
"Yes, Your Grace." The words slip from her mouth like sweet syrup. She leans in and nuzzles her head into your neck; but then, when she realizes her action, she freezes— but doesn't pull away. Once again, she doesn't knows what is happening.
Lynettes lips press to your neck, and she kisses you lightly— once, twice, and then again. She can't seem to pull herself away, and her nose nuzzles into your skin, purring. Her movements are soft and light, like a cat's whiskers.
When she finally does pull away, her breath is ragged. Her pupils are wide with awe and admiration, and her face is flushed. She stares up at you, her eyes pleading.
Seems like you got your own personal 'cat' now.
Charlotte
Her heart leaps— did you command her to sit in your lap? What a blessing!
Immediately, she sits on your lap, her legs curled and body pressed against yours. She is so focused on your body that she forgets how cold the throne really is, and how uncomfortable its sharp points are. She doesn't care. Now, she is closer to you.
"What do you wish of me, Your Grace?" she asks softly. "Tell me, are you my good girl?" Her voice trembles as she answers, this clearly took her by surprise. "I am, yes, I am your good girl..."
She is only yours, she wants to add, but to shy to do so. No one else's. Only you are her God, hers, her everything. Only you.
"I am yours." although she is embarrassed, she trys to cover it by as much seriousness in her eyes as she could. After all, what does this magician keep saying? Seeing is believing. "Good" oh she better be your only good girl, and you better be her only 'owner'
Charlotte's breath comes in slow, labored gasps. She is still on your lap, legs curled in front of her, her body pressed against yours. She is utterly and wholly focused on you. Your attention is as vital to her as the air she breathes. Your will is her will. But face you? While sitting in your much comfortable lap? This might be to much now...
She is your good girl. She wants to do nothing but to please you.
Navia
Navia shifts in her seat, as if she were trying to conceal an emotion of some kind— perhaps a wave of nostalgia, or regret? Either way, she remains composed and loyal as she awaits your next instruction. "Your Grace needs me, yes?" she says, her tone formal and respectful.
Navia nods and does as she's told, sliding up to your lap and sitting down neatly. Her expression remains solemn and serene, but the slightest hint of a smile appears upon her face.
"Yes, your Grace," she says with reverence. "I am at your service." "What a good girl you are, listening so well to me.." Navia is positively gleeful by this point, and she smiles widely, her cheeks reddening just a little. Being called a 'good girl' somehow feels like the greatest honor to her. If she could, she would hug you and never let go, but that would be wrong of her.
"Yes, your Grace," Navia says softly, trying to remain composed. "I am so happy to be your good girl..."
Clorinde
The command sends a chill down Clorindes spine. She is trembling at being this close to you; that you desire her to be this close, to be so utterly at your whim. She cannot say no.
And so she does as she was told, straddling your thighs. Her eyes lock on yours without faltering. Her face is inches from yours, close enough to touch. The pulse on her neck thrums, loud in the air as her breath catches in her throat. "My good girl, isn't that right?" you coo at her, getting even closer. "Yes, master," she whispers. She meets your gaze. Hee irises are a deep color of purple. The color of mystery. The color of her powers.
She licks her lips. Her mouth is dry. She is waiting for your touch. Waiting for your command. She craves you. She needs you. She loves you. Her whole body is at your command. "My only good girl"
The words leave Clorinde speechless. She feels lightheaded, overwhelmed by the fact that she is yours, and you are her. She is nothing without you. She is your own. In your presence, she is a completely different person. Her heart is racing as she whispers again,
"Yes, master."

PROMPTS FROM PRACTICAL MAGIC *  assorted dialogue from the 1998 film, adjust as necessary
sometimes i feel like there's a hole inside of me, an emptiness that at times seems to burn.
be careful what you wish for.
wish you could believe in me.
we have to banish him.
he wants me. just me.
what was that, [name]?
you know what? i wished for you, too.
let him take me.
the nudity is entirely optional.
it wasn't me, it was you.
we'll grow old together.
can love really travel back in time and heal a broken heart?
i think if you lifted my heart to your ear, you could probably hear the ocean.
don't die on me, [name], please.
i bet we even die on the same day.
of course you're going to see me again.
hang on to your husbands, girls.
what wouldn't i do... for the right guy?
i have this dream of being whole, of not going to sleep each night, wanting.
i took an oath to uphold the law.
life is perfect.
don't do that.
i'd like to think so.
i have never asked you for anything.
i feel like i'm never going to see you again.
what are you doing?
i came here to bring in the bad guy because generally that's what i do.
sometimes when the wind is warm or the crickets sing, i dream of a love that even time will lie down and be still for.
i just want someone to love me.
i want to be seen.
please do this for me. please?
hold on just a goddamn second. one step at a time.
that's how you came to live with us.
everything is just so blissfully normal.
i wish you could see us.
they like to meddle in people's love lives.
thought you never wanted to fall in love.
you're saying what i'm feeling is just one of your spells?
fall in love whenever you can.
when you find yourself the center of attention... it's not that they hate you. it's that... well. we're different.
you have the worst taste in men.
i was born with them.
since when is being a slut a crime in this family?
you ever put your arms out and spin really, really fast?
maybe i had my happiness.
you promised me that.
so what kind of... uh... craft do you do.
yeah. it's not real.
curses only have power when you believe them. and i don't.
all i want is a normal life.
that's the point.
yeah, well, you know. all relationships have problems.
that's what love is like. it makes your heart race. it turns the world upside down.
when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue?
well... it's what i want.
now that was me.
i don't want them dancing naked under the full moon.
the guy i dreamed of doesn't exist.
is that why they wanted to hang her? because she's a witch?
i don't even mind the beard.
there's a little witch in all of us.
what was that?
i'll tell you all you need to know.
one step at a time.
you think he's dead?
is he cute?
you came for breakfast? we're having pancakes!
what's wrong? cat got your tongue?
someday you'll explain this all to me.

I noticed recently that there are many cat owners in Gaza. I also noticed that my younger cat Bailey is entirely black & white(aside from her eyes, mouth, nose, ears, some of her toe-beans & her belly) & green & red. If she knew what was going on with the world right now I know she'd be proud of me for staying aware, and including her in helping others with the same.
This is a redraw of one of my favorite pictures of her, and though I wish I could draw more, I am currently traveling. I cannot draw with my PC & tablet setup like I could for this piece, but when I can I will, and post more.
Bailey Mage was a rescue kitten. She had a few other siblings when we found her, but unfortunately we couldn't save the whole litter from fleas. She is pretty much grown today, though she still has a rather strong reaction to alcohol wipes/dry-erase markers(taking a long flea-removal-bath when you're smaller will do that). Whenever I see videos/pictures of people in Palestine carrying their cats & kittens(during such a horrible struggle to simply survive), I make sure and remember to hug both of my cats. Nobody's pets are truly safe, until Everyone's pets are truly safe.

LAST CHAPTER ┊ MASTERLIST ┊ NEXT CHAPTER
Tumblr media
“Ready to go?” Chigiri asks, coming inside to assess the situation. He looks at your enormous suitcase and several travel bags before looking back at you with a quirked brow. You look away from him quickly, pretending something on your phone has caught your attention. “You know we’re only going for a week, right?”
“I want to be prepared!”
“It’s crazy,” he laughs, “because I know that somehow you’re gonna come home with more things than you left with.”
“Not true! Your birthday presents are in here!” you smile, shaking the large gift bag in your hand. He tries to take it from you to peak at what’s inside, but you move it out of his reach.
He pouts.
You pout harder.
“Fine, I’ll carry the heavy suitcase. Even though it’s my birthday week.”
“Thank you Chigs~!”
“Don’t call me that~!” he repeats in your sing-song voice.
You laugh, picking up another bag and carrying it to the car. You load them into the back before rushing into your house again and getting the last few bags. He takes them for you, allowing you to lock the door. If you’d had more warning, you definitely would have gotten a house sitter. But you’re trying not to worry about that, you just want to get on the road and leave all of your worries behind.
Worries, including your family. The family who are less than impressed that you’re abandoning them to spend a boozy week with friends instead of them. You don’t care, though. You delivered their gifts and wished them well.
It’s stupid, really, that they’re so frustrated that you won’t be spending time with them. You can’t stomach spending time with your dad and his new girlfriend. He knows you can’t control your face and you say the first thing that comes to your mind.
You inherited that from him.
Your mother however, was devastated when you told her. You figured she’d be okay since she has a larger family to spend the holidays with. But you’re her only child, you suppose you are being a little selfish.
It’s something you have to do though, you feel. You’re not over Rin and you don’t want to spend Christmas with family grieving what should have been you and him spending the day together. This way, you get to actually have fun. It’s not forced or superficial to keep up appearances for your relatives.
No one is going to expect anything of you at the cabin.
“I’m proud of you,” Chigiri smiles, looking at you briefly before focusing back on the road. You scoff, turning the radio up in the car, Mariah Carey blasting through the speakers. You both groan before he hands you the aux cord. “Not in a cringe way. I just mean, I know you’re a people pleaser. So I’m impressed that you put yourself over your parents.”
“Ugh, they were both so disappointed in me. I spent thousands on presents for them both. I even got some toys for my stepdad’s ratty step-kids. What more can I do?”
“God they are ratty.”
“They’re giving Damien from The Omen.” you tell him, both of you laughing loudly as one of your playlists plays softly through the speaker. You turn it up a little, both of you whooping as you hear Boss Bitch by Doja Cat play. “I know I was shitting myself when Sae texted, but I’m so glad we’re doing this.”
“Me too, I was dreading spending my birthday with your miserable ass.” he chuckles and you slap his arm lightly. “Wait! I know you’re still down about Rin, so, this will be a fun distraction. Plus I bet you end up hooking up with one of Sae’s friends, you haven’t had your rebound yet.”
“I am not doing another footballer, I can’t.” you shake your head.
You both laugh lightly and carry on chatting about the events to come. It’s like a weeklong party, essentially. And ever since you’ve known Chigiri, you’ve both loved a party. But it’s never actually the party itself.
The days before a party are always the best. Whether you’re hosting or attending, it’s always exciting. A theme is always ideal but not essential. Either way, you’ll spend weeks talking about it. Who’s going? What will you wear? What are you gonna drink?
You go on numerous shopping trips and buy endless amounts of clothes until you find the perfect outfit. Only to wear it that night and never again. But it’s worth it, every time. Hearing people compliment how gorgeous you look never gets old.
No one’s words meant more to you than Rin’s, though. The way he’d rest his hand in the small of your back while showing you off made you feel like a princess. He’d whisper sweet nothings about how you’re the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen and the things he wanted to do to you when you got home. It made your legs weak and your face flush with heat. And yet, he was always so calm. So cool. He liked to rile you up and pay you no mind as you look up at him expectantly. Acting as if he hadn’t said something so salacious and lewd while chatting with guests.
It drove you wild.
But, truthfully, where your best friend is concerned, your favourite part of a party is the morning after. If he spent the night at your place, especially. You’d wait for him to message you to let you know he’s awake and leave Rin’s side while he was snoring softly. Hyoma can’t handle his drink, and you’re no better. You’d crawl into bed with him and burrow under the duvet after handing him some water and painkillers.
Hungover or not, though, you loved gossiping with him. You’d trade stories about what happened throughout the night and things you heard. It made your day; it made the hangover worth it.
And now, you’re driving towards a week’s worth of that.
You groan as the song changes from Doja Cat to Lust for Life by Lana Del Rey.
“Nope!” he objects, “What kind of psychopath has Doja and Lana on the same playlist?” Chigiri asks, skipping the song. You throw your head back against the headrest, sighing as you think about Rin, again.
The album featuring the eponymous song is one of the first gifts Rin gave you. In vinyl form, of course, along with a pink record player. You had a record player already, but you told him a few times that you’d always wanted a pink one. It was a birthday gift, you remember crying so much as you unwrapped it.
“And I thought we could listen to this together.” you reminisce on him telling you as he handed the album to you. You told him you’d never listened to it before when you were going through her discography. It was a throwaway comment you didn’t think he’d even remember.
You cried listening to the self-titled song, wrapped up in his arms as he held you close. Truthfully, you’ve never felt so loved. And unfortunately, you don’t think you will again. You told him, repeatedly, how in love with him you were.
He couldn’t keep his hands off you after that.
“I need to make a new playlist.” you sigh, Chigiri nods, agreeing. “You’re right, Doja and Lana on the same playlist is psycho behaviour.”
“And you’re only just realising this?” he laughs again.
“I bet he’s got a new girlfriend now. Girls always threw themselves at him, even when we were together.” you tell him. “Oh my God, I miss him. I miss him so much I feel sick. I can’t do this.”
“Shut up.” he tells you, sternly, “I haven’t seen anything on his socials about a girlfriend, but that’s none of your business anymore anyway.”
“You’re still on his socials?”
“… anyway…”
“You know how private he is, Hyoma. If he’s seeing someone he wouldn’t post about her.”
“He posted you.” he reminds you, and you shrug defeatedly. “Besides, you broke up with him. You ended things and you’re still heartbroken. Imagine how depressed he probably is. He’s a workaholic, too. He’s probably distracting himself with work, not girls.”
Hyoma always knows what to say. Deep down, you knew that. But you never would have thought about it until he said. It was a miracle that he even asked you out, after all. His friends never failed to tell you how surprised they were. He’s too focused on football to bother with girls.
But you… you were different.
“You’re self-sabotaging, idiot.” Chigiri tells you. “We’ll get there, we’ll have fun, and you won’t think about Rin at all. I’m banning Rin talk for the rest of the week.”
“Fine fine fine.” you relent, shaking your body in an attempt to dispel any further thoughts of your ex. Though, to be honest, Sae might make it hard to not think about or discuss him. He’s his brother, after all. You can’t expect him to not talk about his little brother. And you certainly can’t ask him not to. “You’re gonna love the cabin. It’s huge. And there’s a lake we can ice skate on.”
“Perfect, can’t wait.”
Tumblr media
There are several cars parked outside as you pull up. Chigiri parks, but is frozen in place as he looks at the cabin. It’s clear that the place is not what he expected. You end up leaving him alone to process his thoughts as he drinks it in. It’s the closest he’ll get to feeling like a celebrity, he suspects.
He follows you out, rushing to help you lift your suitcase as you struggle under the weight of it. You smile, gratefully, as he drags it towards the cabin. You decide to pick up his much smaller suitcase as well as all of your other bags. It isn’t hard to keep up with him as he struggles to pull your luggage through the snow.
“This isn’t a cabin. I was expecting a log shack with a few amenities. This is a mansion.” Chigiri tells you as you walk by his side. You giggle, agreeing, you felt exactly the same way the first time you came here with Rin.
You walk up the stairs ahead of him and knock on the door, starting to shiver as the biting winter air begins to attack you.
Chigiri manages to get your suitcase to the top of the stairs before anyone even knows you’ve knocked. He’s cold, tired, and impatient, and decides to ring the doorbell. You can both hear music playing inside.
It gets louder once the door swings open, and you see a familiar face.
“Oh hey, are you the little sister?” Oliver asks, forgetting that you’ve met before. You assume that’s how Sae has been referring to you as when talking to his friends, so, you nod. He smiles at Chigiri and takes your heavy suitcase from him, lifting it with ease as he welcomes you in. “They’re all in the lounge, grab yourselves a drink from the kitchen.” he tells you, winking as he sets down your case with all of the others at the bottom of the stairs.
There’s a lot of luggage, though the amount seems to double when you and Chigiri put the rest of yours down. You aren’t sure how many people must be here, but the nerves are setting in.
“She’s cute!” you hear Oliver tell the group as he goes into the lounge, it’s quiet, but you hear it clearly.
“You’ve met her before, idiot.” you hear Sae tell him, his voice getting closer to you as he comes to greet you. “Hey you.” he smiles, hugging you and placing a soft kiss on your cheek. You hug him back, feeling surprisingly calmer as you allow yourself to melt into his embrace.
You aren’t sure why, but you were worried he’d be weird with you when he saw you in person. This is only the second time you’ve seen him since you and Rin split, after all. The first was a coffee date to explain your side of things face to face. You’re happy you decided to keep in contact with Sae, he’s been so sweet and supportive through it all.
So, really, you aren’t sure why you expected him to be off with you.
Especially since he invited you here.
“Nice to meet you, man.” Sae smiles at Chigiri, holding his hand out to shake, which he does. “Your birthday is on the 23rd, yeah? We’ll plan something fun.”
“Being here is fun enough, don’t worry.” Hyoma responds, looking around. “This isn’t a cabin, by the way.” he laughs.
Sae laughs too, walking back towards the lounge. “Come meet everyone.” he insists. You and Chigiri look at each other, but follow.
You’re the only girl here, by the looks of things. You aren’t sure if that’ll change or not though. Maybe they all have partners who are arriving together later. You’re a little surprised by the headcount, you were expecting more. Including Sae, there’s only four of them sitting around the fire, drinking together.
“Apparently we’ve met before?” Oliver’s brows knot in contemplation, and you nod. “Sorry, sweetheart. Normally I don’t forget a pretty face.”
“Yeah ya do, bullshitter.” Tabito snickers, looking up at you from his seat on the floor. You’ve never met Karasu, but you’ve heard a lot about him. Mostly from Rin about when they used to play together. And you may or may not have stalked his socials before, so you’re familiar with his face. “Nice to meet’cha, heard a lot about you.”
“Likewise.” you smile.
“Do you smoke?” you hear another voice speak as you get further into the room. Your eyes lie on Eita Otoya as he pulls a blunt from behind his ear, and you shake your head. You’re surprised to see them letting loose like this, though you suppose they mustn’t get the chance to often.
Rin found it hard to relax and unwind. He’s always been so career focused, never wanting to do anything to harm his reputation. And you understand that, you do. You’re the same, really. You have an image to maintain, people seem to think being a model is just turning up and looking pretty. But you take it seriously, like Rin.
Though he doesn’t seem to know how to turn it off.
“No Ryusei?” you ask, a little surprised he couldn’t make it.
“Not yet, he should be here soon.” Sae assures you. You laugh, knowing you’re in for a really fun week once Shidou gets here. Sae turns back to look at you, taking you back to the entrance. “I’ll show you to your rooms. Did you want to share? There’s enough for everyone to have their own.”
“She snores, I’ll take my own.” Hyoma tells Sae, earning a smirk from him. You try to argue, but your best friend seems to be too convincing. The rest of the guys join you, offering to help with your bags and carry them up to your room.
And, really, who are you to say no?
Chigiri rolls his eyes, carrying his own case and entering the room Sae had planned for him. You realise Sae is sleeping in the master bedroom downstairs when you see all of the other rooms have been claimed by sneakers and jackets from the other guests, all of them are just too lazy to bring their luggage up.
Though none of them had a problem helping with yours.
Your heart sinks when you realise Sae saved your usual room for you to take. The room you always shared with your ex whenever he brought you here. The guys don’t give you much time to feel sorrowful, though. Not when they’re laughing and joking beside you. Sae notices your forlorn expression, pulling you aside slightly.
“I thought you’d feel comfortable in here, but we can switch if you want.” he tells you, but you shake your head. “Ryusei will be in the opposite room so I’m sure you won’t be thinking about anything other than how annoying he is.” he smiles.
“Thank you, Sae.” you smile, albeit a little weakly. It’s bittersweet, that’s all. “At least I have the best view.” you tell him, opening the doors to the large balcony that looks over the lake. You think about how the nearby town’s lights twinkle at night.
“Right.” he puts a sympathetic hand on your shoulder. “Everyone out, let’s leave her to unpack.” Sae announces, ushering the other three men out of the room.
You smile, waving at them all as they leave. Once they’re out, Sae closes the door behind himself and leaves you alone with your thoughts. As much as you want to sit and dwell on things, you decide to occupy your mind and unpack instead.
You’re startled, a little, when Chigiri comes in to see you. Though you’re relieved when he starts to help.
“You did not need to bring all of this.” he grabs a gold glittery mini stress and holds it up. “I— I’ve never seen this in my life. Oh my God, did you buy new clothes for this? You are trying to get a rebound.”
“No I’m—”
“Yeah, you are.” he stops you immediately. “I’ve been stalking all of their socials in my room, they’re all single. And they all had their tongues hanging out for you when you came in.”
“You work too fast.” you laugh. He shrugs, grabbing a few items of clothing and hanging them up in the wardrobe for you.
You’re thankful for his help, it goes a lot quicker than it would have otherwise. Plus you get to gossip about the week ahead. You try and dodge his questions, but your facial expressions always give you away. You have quite a good poker face, but it doesn’t matter when it comes to Chigiri. He has a way of making you shy and giggly when you’re trying to keep a secret.
“Which one?” he asks, and you tut. “I feel like they’re all your type.” he tells you, handing you your toothbrush to take to the ensuite.
“They are.” you laugh from the other room. You return, zipping up your case and pushing it away. “I’ve always had the hots for Ryusei low key though, but I think Rin would be livid.”
“Rin isn’t here and he’s not our problem.” Chigiri smiles. You both sit on top of your bed and flop backwards with a sigh. He turns his head to the side to look at you while you’re too busy disassociating, staring at the ceiling. “Don’t just do it because you feel like you have to, by the way.”
“What do you mean?” you ask. “Oh, rebound.”
He nods, “We’re here to have fun. So, if you’re going to fuck one of them, do it because it’s fun.”
“I won’t.” you agree. “I’m worried about feeling guilty too… they’re Rin’s friends, after all. I don’t want to upset him.”
As Chigiri is about to respond, he’s stopped by the sound of the doorbell ringing. You smile, widely, when you realise Ryusei is here. Hyoma knows all about Ryusei. His feral replacement whenever Rin used to take you around the world for his away games.
Hyoma isn’t jealous, of course. Especially when he knew you had a little crush on Ryusei. You and Hyoma have only ever been friends, and you’ll never be closer to anyone than you are with each other.
“Should we wait a few minutes so I don’t look desperate?” you ask, sitting upright and resting your bodyweight on one hand as you look down at him.
“Yeah.” he nods.
You nod too. You start lying back down, slowly, looking around at the room as you do. “I can’t.” you tell him, jumping off the bed and heading towards the door. He sighs, but hurries after you.
All of the guests are gathered in the entryway as they greet Ryusei. They exchange hugs and handshakes as they all chat and catch up. You descend the stairs slowly, but not fully, standing at the halfway point with Chigiri as you watch the scene unfold.
His bright smile turns to a look of wonder when he notices you. Eyes softening as he realises you’re here, you’re really here.
“No way…” he smirks, “Hey, kid, how are ya?”
“I’m good,” you nod, an embarrassingly wide smile on your face. “And you? How are you, Ryu?”
“Better for seeing you,” he laughs. “Didn’t know you were comin’.”
“Shut the door, man, it’s freezing.” Sae tells him, approaching to do it for him. But Ryusei stops him, keeping him at arm’s length so he can’t.
“I actually picked someone up on the way.” Ryusei announces, side stepping a little as he waits for the mystery guest to hurry. Chigiri’s eyes widen in horror, the realisation hitting him before anyone else as he looks at you. You’re too busy feeling deflated that Ryusei has brought a girl along with him.
“Oh no.” Chigiri speaks, and you look at him. “We should go back upstairs.”
“What? Why?” you ask him, confused. Though your attention is forced back downstairs when you see another figure enter the cabin out of your peripheral view.
Your heart sinks.
“Rin?” Sae asks as he watches his younger, yet for some reason taller, brother set down his suitcase.
Your heart keeps plummeting deeper through your body as you watch him, too. God, he looks even better than he did the day you ended things. He’s always been striking, beautiful. Just so God damn handsome. But he looks older, more mature.
You feel your breathing get heavier and more intense the longer you watch him. The way he dusts the snow from his expensive looking coat. And that familiar ruffle of his hair as he fixes it into place.
“You said you weren’t coming.” Sae tells him.
“I changed my mind,” Rin responds, gesturing to Ryusei. “He begged, really.”
Sae holds his eyes shut, sighing. Rin isn’t sure what the issue is. He was invited, after all, he just declined. He expected his brother to be happy to see him, he thought it would be a fun surprise. Though maybe he only invited him out of obligation.
Shidou hadn’t made it seem that way, though.
“Look who’s here.” Ryusei smiles, pointing up at you.
Rin’s weak smile drops to a stoic straight line as he follows his friends directional finger and his sights land on you. You’re frozen. You can’t smile. You can’t say hello. You can’t even wave. You’re just staring at each other, both absolutely paralysed with no idea how to act.
“H— Hi…” you struggle to speak. Hyoma is thankful you’re too distracted looking at Rin to see the way he’s cringing horrendously behind your back, but not showing his face to the lower floor.
“Hey.” Rin responds, even smiling a little when he hears your voice. It’s been so long, after all. “I didn’t know you were coming.” he explains.
“Same…” you tell him, hoping he believes you. “I wouldn’t have come if I knew you were coming. Wait—” you interrupt yourself when you realise how horrible that sounded.
“Stop talking.” Hyoma whispers, and you clear your throat.
Everyone else seems to see the funny side, all except Rin. He appears a little downtrodden, though he disguises it well. You know him, though. You’re sure he knows you didn’t mean it how it sounded, but you can’t help feeling a little guilty.
“You made it very clear you weren’t coming, Rin.” Sae tells him. “If you said you were coming I—”
“It’s fine. I didn’t know you were still talking, though.” Rin says, the annoyance in his voice very evident. You can’t tell if he’s purposefully trying to hurt you or if it’s just Rin being Rin. “But we’re adults. I’m sure we can co-exist for a week, right?” he asks, looking at you with his intense, teal gaze.
“R—Right…”

The heart wants what the heart wants, even dead ones.
He had plenty of lovers, a list he rather not revisit, but friends are few to none. Astarion felt content. You offered him your friendship, your shoulder for support, and your heart.
A heart he wishes was within him.
His heart should have been happy, you are a friend.
Yet, when he looks at you currently explaining how you are going to rip the wallpaper all over Cazador's walls. It is so gaudy and ugly, it's silly to mention but you are really mad about it.
Freedom, free to do whatever he likes. You suggested setting the place on fire but it's too part of Baldur’s Gate to just destroy it. Sadly. So Lady Incognita said why not change it.
"Blue? Maybe she might go with blue." Talking about Lady Incognita as she has free range around the manor.
Astarion's eyes are distracted, not that you notice, his eyes tracing the way your lips move or shape a smile.
"Astarion?"
"Hm?" His eyes move to yours, "Yes, blue."
You look worried, "Are you okay? We can stop talking about it." Fearing you offended him.
His hand takes yours, fingers interlacing with yours, his nibble fingers different from your own.
You don't mind the affection, you are equally affectionate, yet you wonder what is on his mind.
"'We.'" He says, "You always say 'we'."
"Of course!" Excited as you hold his hand, "We’ll travel the lands, cross the seas, and take to the skies upon the eternal wind—and it will be marvelous." Eye full of love and wanderlust, "It will." A promise you intend to keep.
Astarion laughs, "Must everything you say sound like a marriage proposal? Goodness knows how many times you will get me to say yes."
You fluster, you gap at him, then blink, "You… I didn't mean it like that!"
"Oh, so no marriage proposal? You wound me, and I thought we had something special."
"Of course, I would marry you! I— Wait."
The smile on his face is cocky like the cat who got the mouse (fucking Raphael and his rhythms).
"Yes, darling?"
"Please, if you are playing with me this isn't funny."
"Friends to lovers, it seems fitting for us." Astarion says so nonchalantly, "With all those pretty words you say I should have shouldn't have sent you free." But that feeling has a weight of regret.
You hear it, "You needed a friend."
"What I need is you. What I want is you, I want this."

Who Taught You How to Love Like That? - Chapter Three
Pairing: Modern!Aemond Targaryen x female character (third person) Warnings: Sugar daddy/sugar baby dynamics. Smut. Oral (f receiving). Mild angst. Word count: ~3.1k Series masterlist
Chapter summary: The dinner date happens, and much more besides that.
Author's note: No gods, no masters, no tag lists. Only scabs community label fics. If you find yourself tempted to slap a label on this, please block me instead.
She hasn’t been able to shake the memory of Aemond’s lips since they kissed on Wednesday evening. He’d dropped her home shortly afterwards, letting her know he’d pick her up at 7pm on Friday. Since then her tummy has fluttered every time he crosses her mind. If she closes her eyes she can almost taste the red wine and cigarettes on the plushness of his lips as they’d pressed eagerly against her own.
She knows it is foolish to wish for something more, to expect their arrangement to be something other than transactional, but that kiss had felt like he meant it, so she allows herself a tiny slither of hope to believe there is the possibility for a genuine connection to blossom between them.
Relieved when her last minute annual leave request for Friday is approved, she gets to work on making sure she looks her best. She intends to spend the day face masking, exfoliating and shaving until she is the very picture of perfection for her dinner date.
She’s startled by the buzzer to the flat, rushing to the door to answer the intercom. She lets the delivery driver up, assuming it’s something Mysaria has ordered, but balks when three parcels are handed to her, each of them with her name on.
She opens the first, it contains a black floor length Ralph Lauren off the shoulder gown with a thigh high slit. She holds it against herself in front of the mirror, she knows Aemond is generous to her, but she is still awestruck by the sheer extent of how much he is prepared to spoil her.
The second package is a pair of Jimmy Choo black suede open toe platform sandals with a stiletto heel and delicate ankle strap. She turns the shoes over in her hand, marveling at them, but also wondering how on earth she’ll ever manage to walk in them.
Her phone vibrates and she’s unable to keep the Cheshire cat-like grin from her face as she sees it’s from Aemond.
I saw the tracking information for my gifts update to state they had been delivered. Do you like them?
She fires off a quick response.
I love them :) Thank you xoxo
It’s only after she’s set her phone back down that she remembers there’s a third package, hidden among the wrappings of the first two she’d opened. Her eyes widen as she unwraps it. Agent Provocateur. Aemond has sent her lingerie.
Her palms grow sweaty as her heart races and her thoughts travel faster than her mind has the capacity to keep up with. This clearly meant he anticipated something happening between them this evening. What man sends a woman underwear if he doesn’t expect to see her in it? She isn’t experienced at all. What if he’s disappointed? What if he asked for a refund? Fuck, can sugar daddies even ask that of their sugar babies?
She is broken out of her mild panic when Mysaria comes home. “You in?” She calls out as she closes the front door behind her.
“In here.” She shouts back from her room.
She hears her flatmate toe off her shoes and then pad towards her. She leans against the doorframe, eyeing the packaging and clothes that lay scattered on the carpet and lets out a low whistle.
“Daddy been spoiling you? Lucky girl!” Mysaria says with a grin, which disappears when she sees her worried expression. “What’s the matter?”
She holds up the Agent Provocateur lingerie box by means of response and Mysaria nods in understanding.
“Nothing needs to happen until you feel ready. Why not just try it on and see how you feel?”
She sucks in a steadying breath, attempting to calm herself. There was no harm in trying it on.
It turns out to be a playsuit of sorts. An underwired, padded quarter cup bra with a basque constructed using satin covered black boning and satin straps to create a cage-like effect, complete with suspender straps with gold-toned sliders, with subtle, matching black satin bows. Inside the box is also a flimsy black lace thong and black silk stockings.
“The man’s definitely got taste.” Mysaria says, helping her into it.
They’ve had to boot up her laptop and look up the lingerie on the Agent Provocateur website in order to figure out the intricate series of straps and clasps, and she can’t help but notice the eye watering price that’s listed alongside it online. Fuck. There was no way Aemond wasn’t expecting to sleep with her.
She stands in front of her full-length mirror and runs her hands over her body, looking at the way her breasts sit within the cups of the bra and how the straps of the basque dip and flare with the natural curve of her waist and hips.
“It looks different on the model on the website.” She says nervously, chewing her lip. “What if Aemond doesn’t like it?”
Mysaria snorts derisively. “Girl, please, that model has been airbrushed to shit. You are real and you look hot as fuck. Daddy’s gonna lose his mind when he sees you in that.”
“You really think so?” She asks, turning slightly, still studying herself in the mirror.
Mysaria gives her a playful swat on the backside. “Oh, I know so. Now let’s finish getting you ready.”
Two hours later, her hair and make-up have been perfected by her flatmate, and she stands wearing the dress and shoes that Aemond had gifted her - she has done several practice laps of the living room in the heels, to ensure she doesn’t fall over - the lingerie is snug to her body underneath.
Her nerves disappear the moment Aemond steps out of the car to greet her. His long silver-blonde hair is loose. She has never seen it all down at once, it falls thick and lustrous, well past his shoulders. Yet another well-tailored black suit hugs the broadness of his shoulders and the length of his long legs.
Any uncertainty as to how she ought to say hello dissipates as he cups her jaw and presses a soft kiss to her lips.
“Hi.” He murmurs, keeping her close. “You look beautiful.”
“Hi yourself.” She whispers back. “You don’t look so bad either.”
He helps her into the passenger seat and the drive is spent in comfortable silence, though this time his hand lays a possessive hold on her knee whenever he’s not shifting gears. It leaves tingles across her skin in its wake and the gesture makes her feel lightheaded.
They pull up outside a restaurant called SOLA and Aemond takes her hand as he opens the car door for her.
“I took the liberty of choosing this place because it has a Michelin star. Never actually tried it myself.” He tells her as they walk in.
The dining room is small and intimate, elegantly decorated with an abundance of leafy green plants and sculptural lighting, but she is struck by the distinct lack of other diners.
“Why is no one else here?” She whispers to him as they’re ushered towards their table.
He smirks, watching her take in her surroundings with wide eyes once they are seated, his one seeing eye studies her closely. “I hired the place just for us for tonight. Wanted you all to myself.”
She giggles at that. Such a show off. She expects the food to be equally as flashy, a display of wealth for the sake of it. However, Aemond has ordered ahead of time for the both of them, with choices that suggest a more refined palate that goes beyond merely wanting to splash his cash.
They dine on Kindai bluefin tuna and oysters, paired with crisp white wine and the conversation flows as effortlessly as the wine.
She finds out that there isn’t much in the country from a business standpoint that the Targaryens and Hightowers don’t have a hand in. His father had worked to build an empire alongside his partners Otto and Daemon, prior to his death, and much of it has been left for his children to take care of now that he’s passed. Aemond oversees most of the legal aspects of the business, which is unsurprising to her considering how sharp his mind is.
He listens intently as she tells him more about her history degree and love of fine art. It saddens her when he tells her that originally he’d wanted to study history and philosophy, but had had to give that up to pursue a career in law when his family’s expectations were laid out to him.
It’s obvious there is an abundance of complexities and drama surrounding his family, but she knows better than to attempt to unpick all of that now, especially when the evening is going so well.
Her skin feels heated every time he reaches across the table to gently stroke the back of her hand with his thumb. His eye contact is intense and with every moment that passes she finds any apprehension she had about sleeping with him simply fading away. She wants him.
“Dessert?” He asks, as the meal draws to a close.
She shakes her head with a slight smile. “Couldn’t eat another bite.”
“A pity.” He says, taking her hand and tugging her from her seat towards him. “I’m still absolutely ravenous.”
“For what- oh!” She gasps as he sits her on the edge of the table in front of him, lifting the skirt of her dress to the side by its thigh slit.
He hums in approval as his eye roves over the bottom half of her lingerie. She feels like there isn’t enough air in the room, her heart hammers wildly against her ribcage as his hands run up and down her legs. His thumbs stroke the creases where her thighs meet her pelvis as he drinks her in.
“W-what if one of the waiters sees?” She asks nervously, squirming against the heat that pools between her legs.
“Well, I suppose we’d better put on a good show for them.” He tells her with a raise of his eyebrow.
He hooks two fingers into the lace of her thong, pulling it to one side before he leans forward, groaning appreciatively as the flat of his tongue strokes gently through her folds.
A soft moan escapes her. No one has ever taken the time or care to do this to her before, she is unsure of what she’s supposed to do in this situation, but the thought leaves her mind entirely as Aemond begins to flick his tongue against her bud before suckling it harshly. She leans back on her elbows as he devours her with his lips and tongue, doing her best to stifle her noises by biting her lip, her chest heaving with the effort to stay quiet.
Her hands fly to his head, burying themselves in his hair as she bucks against his face when he speeds up his movements. Sounds of enjoyment rumble in his chest, sending shockwaves all the way through her body, causing a telltale tightness to rapidly build within her lower belly.
She finally falls apart, shuddering atop the table with a strangled cry when uses the tip of his tongue to draw tight circles against the most sensitive part of her. He pulls away, his face shining with her slick as he lifts her underwear back into place. He grins, wiping his mouth with a napkin.
“You okay?” He asks.
She nods, feeling dazed. “Yeah…just…I need a minute.”
Aemond chuckles, smoothing her dress back into place. “Understandable.”
“That was…wow.” Is all she’s able to say once she feels lucid enough.
Aemond stands, helping her from the table. “The bill was taken care of in advance. Let’s head back to my place. I want to be somewhere where you don’t have to stifle those pretty noises you make.”
His hand sits higher on her thigh on the drive back. A mixture of nervousness and excitement has her pulse thrumming from thoughts of what he’ll do to her, of what he’s just done to her. Nobody had ever gone down on her before, but now Aemond has, and on top of a fucking restaurant table of all places.
Aemond lives in the penthouse of a modernised high rise. It’s minimalist. All of the fittings and furnishings are a combination of matte black and shiny silver chrome. It’s clean almost to the point of feeling sterile. It’s obvious he doesn’t spend a lot of time here.
She grins when she sees the elderly doberman raise her head from her bed as they walk through to the living room.
“You must be Vhagar.” She coos softly, kneeling and offering a hand for her to sniff. She scratches gently around the dog’s ears, giggling at the way she narrows her eyes in satisfaction, lifting her salt and pepper snout towards the ceiling.
“She’s not normally fond of strangers.” Aemond muses, as he kneels beside her, ruffling Vhagar’s head.
“The trick is to approach from their level and offer your hand before you try to touch.” She tells him. “Most animals that don’t like people just haven’t been approached by the right ones.”
He stares at her for a few moments, a small smile upon his lips, before he finally breaks the silence.
“Can I get you anything?” He asks, standing and walking towards the kitchen.
“I’m good, thanks.” She follows him and they hover by the kitchen island, simply looking at each other before he surges forward to kiss her.
The force of it feels like it knocks all the air from her lungs, it’s hungry and possessive and she returns it with equal enthusiasm, whimpering as her tongue meets his. He dominates the movement, his hand cupping the back of her head as he backs her into the bedroom.
She topples back onto the bed at his soft but insistent shove. Black sheets of a no doubt ridiculously high thread count feel like buttery silk around her as Aemond kneels before her to tug off her dress.
“Fuck.” He mutters as she lays before him in the lingerie he’d bought for her. “Yeah, we’ll be leaving this on. And these.” He grips the heel of her shoe, as he places a kiss to the inside of her ankle, before letting it drop again.
She watches, transfixed as he sheds his own clothing. Aemond is a work of art. His chest and abs subtly toned, he is all lithe, corded muscle, and she clenches at the sight of him. He is already hard when he strips all the way off, and nerves nibble away at her as she looks at the sheer size of him. Long and thick, lightly veined with a blush pink tip, her mouth waters slightly at the sight, yet there is a part of her that worries it might hurt. She had only ever slept with her ex before, and despite her inexperience she knew enough to know he wasn’t well endowed, nothing compared to this.
Aemond crawls over the top of her, trailing hot, open mouthed kisses to her neck and collarbones that make her writhe beneath him, each one sending warm ripples of arousal through her.
His fingers dip between her legs, pushing past her thong to stroke at her. “Shit,” He hisses. “Still so wet for me, I don’t even have to prepare you.”
He takes a condom from the nightstand, tearing it open and rolling it over the length of him before repositioning himself between her legs.
They both suck in a sharp breath as he begins to push inside, the stretch of him against her sensitive walls is both too much and not enough all at the same time.
“So fucking tight.” He grits outs, his grip on her hips vice like as he bottoms out.
He lays like that, forehead rested against hers as they both adjust, only daring to move his hips once she relaxes.
His strokes are smooth, even and precise, tapping a spot inside of her with every thrust that has her clutching his shoulders and moaning his name.
“Feels so good.” She mewls desperately as his hips piston against her own.
“Oh she likes that.” He hisses, almost mockingly, placing one of her legs over his shoulder and pounding harder into her.
Her eyes roll back at the sensation, her hands grip frantically at Aemond’s biceps and then the bedsheets beside her as he rubs at her clit with his thumb in tandem with each of his thrusts.
“You gonna cum again for me, pretty girl?” He asks huskily. “I can feel you squeezing me.”
“Fuck!” Is all she’s able to cry out in response as she feels herself tighten and spasm around him, her back arching off of the bed with the force of the pleasure that washes over her.
Her own release triggers Aemond’s and he snarls, holding her tight against his chest as he stills and spills into the condom.
He pulls out, depositing it into the wastebin and pulls her into his arms.
She feels utterly spent, boneless and dazed in the wake of what she’s just experienced, but Aemond isn’t prepared to let her doze off just yet.
He moves down the bed, unbuckling each of her shoes and removes them. He ushers her to the bathroom with a firm tap to her thigh. Once she’s finished and settled back into bed with a glass of water, he begins to slowly unclasp each of the straps of her body suit, softly rubbing and kissing each of the indentations made by the bones of it as it falls away from her body.
“You’re gorgeous.” He whispers to her, stroking her hair as she drifts off to sleep.
She awakens the next morning, surprised at how refreshed she feels considering the events of the previous evening. She smiles to herself as she snuggles into the luxurious feeling plushness of the bed, thoughts of how good Aemond had made her feel playing on a loop in her mind. She is startled slightly when she rolls over to find his spot empty.
A note has been left on the bedside table.
Sorry, had to run. Have transferred you money for cab fare - A.
She sighs. She hadn’t expected breakfast in bed, but she can’t deny the sinking feeling in her stomach at the fact he hadn’t bothered to stick around. Rummaging through her things that lay scattered on the floor, she retrieves her phone to look at the time when she sees the banking app notification.
£5,000 from A. Targaryen. Her heart twists painfully in her chest. That wasn’t cab fare, it was payment for last night.

Hi!
I have been following this blog for a while now and I love using it to find new podcasts. I was wondering, if you have time, what you think is the scariest podcast you've listened to or what your favorite horror podcasts might be? Thank you, and I hope you have a great day :)
I'm so glad to have helped you find new shows!
I don't really get scared by horror podcasts (not sure why. It isn't some "I'm tough" thing, I get startled by the toaster, and it's not like I never feel unsettled or concerned or icked out at podcasts, just not scared) so I'm not sure I can give you a good answer on that one, but I'll gladly give you ten of my personal favourites instead:
Alice Isn't Dead: The podcast that got me into podcasts. A truck driver travels the USA looking for her wife, who until recently, she had thought was dead. Along the way she has all manner of strange encounters, and sees a side to the world that few truely comprehend.
Archive 81: A young archivist takes a job at a remote outpost organising and digitising a collection of tapes. On the tapes is a series of interviews and investigations made by a social worker in the 90s as she becomes familiar with a bizzare apartment building. The archivist, naturally, has an increasingly bad time. Each season is part of the same story, but they're all a bit different.
Ghost Wax: Recorded interviews conducted by the last surviving necromancer, and various people who died under seemingly otherworldly circumstances.
Hello From The Hallowoods: Supernatural and cosmic horror. A powerful and dramatic entity visits your nightmares to relay stories of the people (to varying degrees of both human and alive) who inhabit the beautiful and deadly Hallowoods. What start off as individual stories quickly connect to a larger narrative.
Hi Nay: A supernatural horror following a young woman named Mari, who's babaylan (shaman) family background draws her into helping people with various horrific supernatural problems around Toronto. Formatted as phone calls to her mother telling her what's happened.
I Am In Eskew: Often-horrific stories from a man living in something that very much wishes to be a city, and a private investigator who was, in her words, hired to kill a ghost. Many people seem to agree this one is scary.
Janus Descending: A xenoarcheologist and a xenopaleontologist are sent to investigate and sample the ruins of a long-dead alien city, and discover more than they anticipated. The format for this one is really clever: you hear her audio logs first to last, and his last to first, and the story is all the more heartbreaking for it. I'd recommend listening to the supercut.
The Lost Cat Podcast: A man befriends strange entities, loses bits of himself and drinks an awful lot of wine while looking for his cat. Soft and cosmic horror.
The Moon Crown: The shortest on this list, but also one of the most fascinating. A disgraced scribe living in a city of humans, beasts, and other bizzare entities, begins to recount recent happenings, and actions she has a hard time explaining, on broadcast. But the people she's hoping to reach might not be the ones listening.
The Silt Verses: In a modern world where gods are plentiful, both illicit and commercialised, two disciples of an outlawed river god go on a pilgrimage.
Although, maybe some other listeners can help me out and share what scared them?

pairing: nanami x reader (sfw, implicit that you have a relationship) summary: the firsts years lost nanami's cat. you were called to help. nanami isn't happy. wc: 2.7 i want to write more about nanami, you and his (yours) cat
requests are open!
"sensei!" itadori feel the relieve filling his body as soon as you pick up the phone.
honestly, you kind of wish to never know what is happening, because if itadori is calling you, certainly, nothing good will come out of it. still, you have a job to do while you are his teacher.
you try to sound as polite as possible when answering him.
"hi yuji! is everything okay?" 'impossible' your mind quickly answer.
you hear some noises in the back of the call, and immediately you recognize the other voices.
"don't sound so hopeless" nobara shout at her friend, and you can perfectly imagine the two of them.
"stop screaming at my ear! she's going to hear you." yuji whisper, or at least try to, but you end up hearing the same way.
you think if yaga is going to be mad if you hang up on three freshmen that can possibly be in a death-or-life situation. maybe he wouldn't mind at all...
"yuji, where are you?" you ask already picking your keys, ready to save their asses.
more noises happen in the background, and you wonder if they are fighting with each other. the phone goes silently for a moment, and have to look down at the scream to see if the call was ended.
unfortunately, it was not. "i'm sorry to bother you, but we need your help" of course, the last one of the trio appears: megumi.
megumi tried his best to get away from the trouble duo but he is sure that you still could hear some screams. itadori's screams, you think. yeah, they are definitely fighting, and apparently, nobara is winning.
you signed trying to think why the bombastic trio of the jujutsu high need your help. neither of the options in your mind is good. "megumi, can you put on the speaker?"
after some seconds, you can hear the trio perfectly. "first of all, you three need to calm down, and explain why you need my help" before any of them talk, you continue "and nobara, you can't kill yuji yet, so stop beating him." she isn't happy to obey, but you hear itadori thanking you.
"okay, now you can tell me what happened" and again you can hear itadori, nobara and megumi talking at the same trying. each of them giving their version of the history. "only one of you!!" you scream interrupting them.
they fight for a little more before itadori finally speak. "you know, nanamin is on a work travel" he starts "and he kindly asked me if i could take care of his cat."
'more like i begged him for that' yuji remembers from a couple of days ago.
last month, gojo asked if nanami could watch itadori on his next mission, and even though he didn't want to, (or at least this was what he tried to convience you about) he accept. after killing the curse, kento offered to buy a snack for yuji (he couldn't let the boy die from hunger, he explained) and that was when itadori discovered that nanami owned a cat.
he saw a picture of it on his wallet. 'her name is angeline' nanami said because yuji keep calling his pretty cat "it".
the boy tried to convince his professor to let him meet angeline in person, but nanami would never let that happen. not when he was still alive.
angeline was a well-being animal. nanami made his number one priority to treat his cat like she deserved. the best food, weekly pet shop appointments, all the toys she needed to entertain herself when he was away, cuddle when he was at home. everything for her to be happy.
meeting anyone from his work (except from you, angeline absolutely adored you), teacher or student, would mean an stressful experience for the poor cat.
on the week nanami would be out of town on a work trip, he was ready to ask if you could take care of angeline, but yuji was faster than him.
"nanamin, please! i promise that i'm going to take good care of her." he begged for the last ten minutes, and kento was closing to explode "i won't make her stressed, and i can even video call you to see her anytime you want."
nanami signed. he would regret this, he was sure. but maybe he should follow your advice. trust people more. he could do this.
"alright itadori, you can take care of her."
but now yuuji was thinking that maybe nanami shouldn't have trust him.
"we were on a mission, so i thought it was a good idea to bring kugisaki and fushiguro with me, and everything was ok, we feed the cat, and played a bit with her, but then-" itadori was growing more and more nervous with each word coming out of his mouth.
megumi and nobara weren't different. the three of them could feel the cold sweat running down their temples.
you were just like them. of course, you knew anything good could come from itadori when he called you. but still, this was going for the worst scenario possible.
"yuji, where is angeline?" you ask, hoping, hell, even praying for the best.
itadori ignores you and continues his story. "we got hungry and run to the convenience, it was really quick, we didn't stay there for more than 10 minutes, but in our way back to the apartment kugisaki saw a dress, and then-"
yuji's voice is cut off and substituted by megumi.
"we got here, and the door was open. the cat was gone. we can't find it." you can hear itadori screaming in the background 'her name is angeline!'
everything pauses for a moment. you can't hear your students fighting. you can't hear any noise. actually, you feel nothing. your mind is completely blank.
and suddenly you remember how much angeline means to kento.
you and nanami been in a relationship for the past months, and since the begginig, he made sure to let you know how much he loved the little cat.
"itadori is the one who let the door open. blame him" nobara's voice took you out of your trance.
"i'm coming, don't move a muscle." you say briefly before ending the call.
---
in your whole life, you never expected to be in such conditions. you, a teacher, someone that can kill the most deadly curses, locked with your three students, desperately trying to find a cat.
you were still at the apartment with megumi, both of you looking everywhere in hope for angeline to still be here.
at this point, you were already using humiliating techniques.
"pspspspspspsps come here, it's me" knelling near the couch, you tried to call one more time "come on, angeline, you like me, yeah? then come here" you looked under the couch again, hoping that the cat would miraculously appear.
nothing, as expected.
even megumi was on the edge now, one of his shinigamis with itadori and nobara, while the other was stucked in the apartment with you. even the divine dog looked tired.
"megumi, don't you have, like, a divine cat? maybe we could pretend angeline was one of your shinigamis the whole time" you said throwing your body on the couch. at this point, you were already thinking of ways to calm nanami down. maybe you could convince him that his cat was something that only existed in his imagination?
"i don't think this will solve the problem" megumi sit on the chair near you, sad that kento would be disappointed at him. "i think that we can blame gojo-sensei, say that he broke into the house and let the cat scape."
you laugh a little, happy and a little worried to see megumi's funny side. "that's a good idea." you hum back, looking directly at the boy sitting next to you, only to get a look of his serious face.
he was talking for real. he won't disappoint nanami.
"let's wait for your friends to return, right? maybe they got luckier than us here." you try to easy the mood a bit, gently petting the divine dog lying on the carpet.
after some minutes, you finally hear running footsteps, which you presume are itadori and nobara. you and megumi quickly stand up, glaring at the door.
when itadori enters in your vision, you are already screaming at him.
"did you find angeline?" both, you and yuuji shout at each other at the same time.
"i think we're fucked" nobara says.
the four of you sit on the couch in completely silence, now, there was only on thing you could do. call kento.
obviously, no one wanted to do that.
'itadori was the one who let the door open." megumi defended himself.
kugisaki is quick to get her ass out of the way too. "he is the one that is responsible for the cat."
now, yuji had to be smart, otherwise, he would really have to call nanami, and he didn't want to get scolded. at least not in front of everyone.
knowing that he couldn't do anything incredible, he used his best technique. puppy eyes.
'damn kiddo' you think looking at the boy. you had nothing to do with the situation, why would you be the one calling nanami? you knew you would regret picking up the phone.
you sigh, feeling defeat by a bunch of kids. "i will do it. but you own me. the three of you." you reach for your phone from the pocket of your jacket.
you swallow the knot on your throat. praying that maybe nanami wouldn't answer.
"hello?"
as always, the world isn't on your side. maybe today wasn't your day at all.
"hey, kento! how is your trip going?" you answer, choosing your best calm voice.
you can feel the trio tensing up by your side, and for a moment you think that nanami will be able to hear their quick heartbeat.
"i'm almost finish, i'll be home tomorrow. why are you calling this time?"
of course, he would suspect. you usually call him at night, when you both would be already lying in bed, ready to sleep. "well, nothing you know, just feeling like checking on you would be good, you know?
nanami is silently for a moment. "why are you repeating sentences?" you fucked up. "what is happening?"
kento knew you better than you had thought previously.
"let's get into a hypothetically situation. if angeline went for a walk outside, and didn't come back until now, how mad would you be on a scale to 1-10?" you try to easy the water you're getting into.
but nanami isn't having any of your bullshit. "what are you saying? did you lose angeline?" you can feel the rage on his voice, and for a moment you think that maybe you should follow megumi's advice and blame gojo.
"so, 10 then?" nanami almost growls, and if this was any other moment, you would actually find it really hot. but not now.
"of course it would be a 10! now tell me, where the fuck is my cat?" oh, he is already cursing. time to hang up.
the trio tremble by your side, clearly hearing how much nanami is pissed off.
"well, so good that angeline is right hear with us, safe and pretty." you say absolutely not convincing the blonde on the other side of the phone. "unfortunately i have to hang up now, but it was a pleasure to talk to you.".
"us? who is there-" you click on the red button on the screen before kento can say another word.
you look at the trio, nobara and megumi by yuji side, both of them gently patting his shoulder. you can even see a dark aura hovering itadori's head. he was depressed.
your heart aches a bit. after all, you took pity on them. of course, yuji had fucked up, no doubt, but he was doing his best, trying to impress his teacher.
"no time to be sad!! get your ass to work!" you say, getting in front of them. you give their heads a little slap, getting their attention. "let's look everywhere again, starting with the apartment."
yuji, megumi and nobara look at you, feeling motivated again. (maybe megumi wasn't, but he wouldn't ruin the mood for his friends). the three of you scream together, ready for another hunting round (megumi think that you lost your mind).
nobara is the first to run around, throwing the cushions off the cushion crazy searching for a cat. yuji follows her, checking the living room cabinet. you look absolutely proud of them (megumi is sure that all of you lost your minds).
itadori is on all fours looking under the sofa. nobara is searching inside the fridge. megumi is almost falling off the window trying to see if angeline is outside. you are standing in the middle of the living room, phone in hand, the screen showing gojo's contact, you were ready to ask for his help. maybe he could expand his cursed energy and search for angeline.
a little meow coming from the door get your attention. four pair of eyes turn to where the sound came from.
a pretty cat sitting by the door. her pink tongue slowly cleaning her little paws.
your world pause for a moment. 'thank you' you thank no one at all.
"hellooooo, why are you calling the stronger sorcerer?" gojo finally answer your call, but now you didn't need him anymore. you just end the call without saying anything.
you walk to angeline, quickly cupping her on your arms, afraid that maybe she could run away again. megumi closes the door, a heavy sigh leaving his throat.
the cat in question only innocent look at you, like she didn't almost killed four (five if you want to count nanami) people from a heart attack.
the cat in question only innocent look at you, like she didn't almost kill four (five if you want to count nanami) people from a heart attack.
"angelineeee!" yuji is... crying? you see the tears running down his face. happy tears. he tried to hug angeline, but she didn't want his fluids on her fresh cleaned fur.
"MEOW!" she protested squirming on your arms, and you giggle getting her message.
"get off from the cat with your catarrh" nobara says pointing to yuji's dirty nose.
itadori stops, and a devilish idea appears on his mind. "then give me a hug yourself, kugisaki." he hums walking to his friend.
you laugh, seeing that even megumi got caught on the little chase. finally able to breathe again, you smile to yourself. angeline was safe. kento would be so happy.
---
"i'm never trusting any of your advices again" nanami murmur to you. he was finally back to home. angeline was on his arms again. "trust people more, you say" he was still a bit irritated.
you roll your eyes, getting comfortable against his shoulder, happy to smell his cologne. "yuji did a good job. in the final moments he screwed up a bit, but in overall, he was great." you defended him as always.
angeline meows at you, almost like she was agreeing with you. even kento was caught by surprise.
"it doesn't matter, next time i'm bringing you with me." nanami says kissing the cat head, but looking right into your eyes.
tilting your head to the side, you ask "are you talking to me, or with angeline?"
"both." he is quick to answer.
---
bonus
yesterday, itadori and kugisaki were searching for angeline
"i found her!" nobara happily says, holding a cat on the air.
yuji looks on her direction, surprised, until he saw the animal she was holding.
a random cat, not even the colors mach.
"kugisaki, this cat looks nothing like angeline." he screams, mad at her.
nobara just put the stray animal on the floor. "i tried.".

chapter twenty-nine | little talks
percy jackson x fem reader
Tumblr media
“Help me,” you whispered, so lowly you worried it was too low for Travis to hear a thing you said. “I can’t stay here.”
The wind howled wherever he was outside of camp, and car horns blared in the background. Outside of your bedroom, your dad raged in the hallway, steadily making his way to your room. One by one, thick bangs indicated new holes in walls. Rachel was screaming, too, but not in anger—she was pleading with him to stop, as the baby screamed like he never had before.
That had set him off—Finney’s screaming in the night. Maybe it was a nightmare, or maybe he was in pain. Nothing changed. And you had no control over it.
“How far even is Sydney from here?” Travis asked desperately, exhaling slowly. “Like, a day’s flight?
There was the issue of getting out. Getting here had been easy—your dad’s money; your dad asking for a do-over; your dad’s want. How was it possible to leave now, with ten dollars to your name, Finney in pain, and Rachel alone with him? How would you make it back to the States without his money? Which, he would without a doubt, notice missing.
“You’ve gotta help me,” you whispered helplessly into Rachel’s stolen phone, watching the sea from your bedroom window. It calmly lapped the shore.
Nothing but Travis, poor Travis, and his helpless breathing on the other end of the line.
“I’ll see you soon, Travis,” you uttered softly, taking the phone away from your ear, ending the call with a press of a button, before smashing it over, and over, against the corner of your drawer.
You’d find a way to pay Rachel back for breaking her phone.
As you threw things into a backpack—leggings, toothbrush, favourite plushie and iPod—you muttered aloud to whatever Gods you could think of.
Hermes, for safety, the patron of travellers.
Ares, for the strength your anger gave you, and bravery you needed, hands shaking.
And your mother, to save your life. To watch over you.
They were so into their arguing, nobody noticed you slip out of your bedroom and racing down the stairs, raincoat on, and sneakers messily laced. Every sense in your body screamed run! and your eyes drifted over a hole in the wall with no photograph to cover it just yet. Your bones physically ached to take Finney in your arms and hush him to sleep, to save his poor throat from the soreness that would come from all his terror.
Maybe Rachel would see sense.
Unbelievable to yourself, Ares was the god you prayed to, not stopping at the bottom of the stairs, heading straight for the front door.
Tumblr media
Annabeth’s house was the exact image of happy, and well-lived in. A little kid’s winter coat lay on the floor, and the whole house smelled of cookies. The coffee table in the living room was stacked high with books of all kinds, from wars to fairy tales, the wood stained with what must have been years of being used.
Her dad, for all the bad that Annabeth had said about him, seemed lovely. He seemingly wasn’t fussed about the children’s clothes on the sofa, or the gaggle of random teens in his house…the kind of parent you wished for.
You sighed, eyeing the home. Annabeth didn’t know how good she had it.
Photographs lined up along the walls, and stood in pretty framed on the windowsill. You were sure, almost certain, that if you moved aside the frames on the walls, there would be no holes underneath them, plaster torn through from anger, covered up in odd places with different-sized frames.
Your fingers itched just to see.
There were Lego robots on the stairs, when you turned around to admire the house, and a cat stretched out in a patch of dying sunlight at the bottom of the staircase. Jazz music floated throughout from the kitchen.
You were so jealous, you could have strangled Annabeth for giving this up.
“Dad!” A little boy screamed. You jumped easily. “He’s taking apart my robots!”
“Bobby,” Mr. Chase called absently, “stop doing that.”
“I’m Bobby!” The boy protested. “He’s Matthew!”
“Matthew, don’t take apart your brother’s robots!”
“Okay!”
Annabeth’s dad turned to you, looking you over properly. He hadn’t so much as really looked at anyone since inviting you in. “Let’s go upstairs and talk in my study…”
You knew what it was the second that he paused.
“Are you…?” He blinked, wide-eyed. “Do you know my Annabeth?”
The eyes. Always the eyes.
“My
Annabeth”
And, Gods, would anyone talk about you like that? Earnestly, and wholeheartedly? Not as a possession to be moved around at will, as you’d experienced, but somebody who was wanted, and very clearly, loved. To belong to somebody with care.
Annabeth was due a lecture. You decided that firmly.
You shifted on your hip, hands in pockets. “She’s my sister.”
He ah’d silently, and then waved his hand briefly to you. “I figured. The—”
“Eyes?” You finished at the same time, and heat spread across your cheeks. “Yeah, I get that a lot.”
“Frederick?”
Your gaze fell behind Annabeth’s dad, to a pretty Asian woman standing in the doorway of the kitchen. She was taller than you, shorter than Mr. Chase, and her hair—god, you would have died for hair like that—was glossy-looking and tinted red, and she held a pair of kids’ shoes in her hand.
“Who are our guests?” She asked.
“Oh, uh…this is…”
He stared at your group blankly.
“Frederick!” She chided. “You forgot to ask them their names?”
You introduced yourselves a little uneasily, but Mrs. Chase seemed nice. Especially when she offered cookies.
“Dear, they came about Annabeth.”
You weren’t sure what you expected from her reaction-wise, but a simple concerned look wasn’t enough for you. “Alright. Go on up to the study and I’ll bring you some food up.” She smiled. “Nice meeting you, Percy. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
It was as if the blood in your body halted, and a strange feeling overcame you. Without really meaning to, you were sure you pulled a face. Thalia, beside you, snickered quietly.
The ‘study’ wasn’t what you’d expected at all, certainly not for a grown man with children. Then again, perhaps he’d built this just for them. The thought made you feel warm inside, and oddly, spiteful; planes you recognised from history movies dangled on clear string from the ceiling, circling over a home-made demonstration of a fort, all cliffs and grass and the sense of death.
A war, Frederick Chase had built in his home.
You didn’t care much for whatever they talked about behind you; Zoe muttering something about enemy lines, Percy’s butting in, and Mr. Chase’s answering patiently. Instead, your interest piqued at a globe sitting on a tabletop to the side of the room, surrounded by well-loved books, slightly dusty and sitting askew atop of one another. You reached your hand out, and gently pushed the globe around, spinning it idly. Your eyes wandered.
A ratty, once-adored stuffed animal, now vaguely resembling an elephant, sat alone in a corner made by books, staring up at you. Was this Annabeth’s? Had she at one point abandoned this little guy in search of peace the way you had recently done to Finney?
It hurt so bad to think about, that it didn’t bear thinking about at all.
Either way, your heart clenched for your family.
The afternoon light was quickly changing, darkening, and you found the strength to speak up and bring to attention the problems that needed solving—ones that you were not at all prepared to take on any time soon alone. Your mind, for all people praised children of Athena, was not well-equipped for these situations. You weren’t smart enough, you felt.
And it was proving itself to be the case, too.
Just luck something in you persuaded. It’s all just bad luck.
You allowed Percy and Thalia to explain everything to Annabeth’s father, who, after paying great attention to even the side-tracking Percy inevitably talked, collapsed into an old armchair beside the desk you perched on the edge of. He laced his hands, looking worn and stressed.
“My poor brave Annabeth,” he said, quietly.
The cookie in your hand crunched and crumbled all over the desk, and pure bitterness scraped your insides.
“Sir,” Zoe brought you out of your thoughts. “We need transportation to Mount Tamalpais. And we need it immediately.”
He nodded. Mr. Chase blinked at his coffee table, absent in thought. “I’ll take you. Hmm…it would be faster to fly in my Camel. But it only seats two…”
Your mind snapped to attention. “Wait, you have an actual Sopwith Camel just chilling around?”
Mr. Chase nodded as though it was normal as anything. “Down at Chrissy Field. That’s the reason I moved here. My sponsor is a private collector with some of the world’s finest World War I relics in the world. He let me restore the Sopwith Camel—”
“Sir,” Thalia cut in, “a car would be just great. And it might be better if we went without you. It’s too dangerous.”
Mr. Chase visibly deflated in his armchair, frowning uncomfortably. “Now wait a minute, young lady. Annabeth is my daughter. Dangerous or not, I can’t just—”
“Snacks!” Mrs. Chase announced, bustling into the room with a tray of goods.
“I can drive, sir,” said Zoe. “I’m not as young as I look. I promise not to destroy your car.”
Mrs. Chase knit her eyebrows. “What’s this about?”
“Annabeth is in danger,” said Mr. Chase. “On Mount Tam. I would take them…but apparently it’s no place for mortals.”
To your surprise, Mrs. Chase nodded, not questioning it. Maybe she was used to this stuff by now. “They’d better get going then.”
“Right!” He jumped up, and started patting his pockets. “I…need to just get my keys…”
His wife sighed. “Honestly, Frederick, you’d lose your head if it wasn’t constantly in your hat.” Relatable. “They’re downstairs, on the peg by the door.”
“Right!”
Zoe grabbed a sandwich, and you stuffed a couple of cookies in your backpack, uncaring for the crumbs. “Thank you both. We should go. Now.”
Everyone headed for the stairs, Mr. Chase first—he walked quickly with urgency in his steps, and you wandered, would anyone ever act this way for you? Travis, maybe, at some point, if the time ever called for it. He’d shown that he cared. Or at least, you thought he did. Percy, too, who pulled you back-to-back with him earlier, protecting one another.
“Percy!” Mrs. Chase called. You waited at Mr. Chase’s side, at the front door, hands in your pockets. “Tell Annabeth…tell her, she still has a home here, will you? Remind her of that.”
For a second, you closed your eyes, and let yourself be lost in imagination. The sound of happy children playing, standing beside a father who cared, who was light with warmth and love. The feeling of pure safety in the home.
For a second, you let yourself feel this.
Tumblr media
After the car blew up, and you spent a good few minutes with Percy picking car pieces out of your hair and skin, you had thought perhaps nothing else could go wrong.
But this was a quest you were supposed to be a part of, so of course something else did go wrong.
“Silence, fool!” Zoe hissed, pulling Percy and big mouth down behind a rock. “Do you want to wake Ladon?”
“You mean we’re here?” You asked. This was it? The road was shrouded with thick fog, ahead of you, the mountain was even darker.
“Very close,” she said. “Follow me.”
Fog drifted across the road, and shivers crawled up your back. Zoe stepped out into it and disappeared completely.
“Focus on her,” said Thalia. “The Mist is really strong here. Just step into the fog and focus on Zoe.”
Apprehension became you, but you did as she said. Zoe was nowhere to be seen at first, but the more you concentrated on finding her, the dog cleared, and the road became dirt, and the dirt lead to the mountain. And then there was Zoe and Thalia, and Percy just behind you.
Your breath was stolen pretty quickly. The grass was thicker, the sunset a bloody slash across the sky, hues of peach and amber colliding. The summit of the mountain was closer, now, swirling with dark clouds and power above. There was only one path right in front of you, leaden with beautiful flowers and trees, pink blossoms and bright purples you couldn’t name. It lead to a darker forest of shadows and flowers that glowed.
You weren’t sure how you knew, but…
“The garden of twilight,” you muttered. Zoe’s head snapped to you.
The grass shimmered with silvery, dewy light, the flowers such brilliant colours they flowed and lit the darkness around you. Black, polished marble steps danced around a five-storey tall golden apple tree, literal golden apples, glimmering and glowing amongst the rich green leaves.
“Hera’s apples of immortality,” Thalia said lowly. “A wedding gift from Zeus.”
You were tempted to step right up and grab one, except you found the danger quickly.
The dragon, curled around the tree. The dragon, bigger than you could have ever imagined one, and with more heads than it was possible to count. He appeared to be sleeping.
Something in the darkness caught your attention. The shadows began to move, an eerie singing beginning. You clutched your dagger harder.
Four figures appeared, girls in white greek chitons. They were beautiful, and, with a shiver, you noticed they resembled Zoe Nightshade. Or, rather, she resembled them.
“Sisters,” Zoe said with a small sigh.
“We do not see any sister,” one of the girls said coldly. “We see three half-bloods and a Hunter. All of whom will soon die.”
“Don’t worry about being pessimistic,” you muttered. Percy elbowed you, firmly.
“You’ve got it wrong,” he stepped forward. “Nobody is going to die.”
But…you had that feeling again. The one before Bianca. And you couldn’t tell if it was anxiety or foreshadowing. Whichever it was, it made you feel sick, nonetheless, and helpless.
“Perseus Jackson,” one of them said.
“Yes, I do not see how he is a threat.”
“Who said I’m a threat?”
The first girl glanced behind her, toward the top of the mountain. “They are unhappy that this one has not yet killed thee,” she pointed to Thalia. “They fear thee.”
“Tempting, sometimes,” Thalia said. “But no, thanks. He’s my friend.”
“There are no friends here, Daughter of Zeus. Only enemies. Turn back.”
“Not without Annabeth,” she moved forward.
“And Artemis. We must approach the mountain.”
“You know he will kill thee. You are no match for him.” One of the girls scoffed.
“Artemis must be freed. Let us pass.”
“You have no rights here anymore.” Harsh. “We have only to raise our voices and Ladon will wake.”
“He will not harm me,” Zoe shook her head gently.
“No? And what about thy so-called friends?”
Then, Zoe did the last thing you wished she would. She clapped her hands, and yelled. “Ladon! Wake!”
The dragon’s eyes snapped open instantly. He glittered like a mountain of coins, just as everything in your body shivered.
Your heart took cover.
Zoe’s sisters scattered. One of the girls was furious. “Are you mad?!”
“You never had any courage, sister. That is thy problem.”
You’d never seen Zoe so forward, and confident. Confidence outside of your comfort zone was different. But you knew to be confident and strong against your family was a different kind.
Ladon was awake, now, a hundred heads hissing and swirling. You wanted to back up, and leave this place. Zoe, standing ahead of you all, looked up at him with nothing but surety. Thalia had shifted, and Percy was still as anything beside you, the two of you looking with your heads tipped back.
Your lungs chose the awfully wrong time to deflate. Because in the light of the glowing flowers, and the danger on the breeze, Percy’s eyes were bright green, his tan skin aglowing, and his dark hair looked glossier than ever. The perfect edge to his nose, shining ever so slightly. His mouth was slightly agape in—shock? Confusion? Horror?
The most heavenly boy to exist.
“Let’s go,” you decided, the first to make a move.
“Ladon is trained to protect the tree,” Zoe said, moving forward toward the dragon. She raised her arms out to him as if she were welcoming a best friend home, not a killing machine. “Skirt around the edges of the garden. I am a bigger threat. Go up toward the mountain. As long as I’m here, he should ignore thee.”
“Should?” Percy snapped. “Not exactly reassuring.”
Your body turned cold. “No. Come on. Let’s all just run for it. Nobody gets left behind.”
Thalia looked at you and nodded. “Zoe. Let’s go.”
“It is the only way. Even the four of us together cannot fight him.”
Ladon opened his mouths. The sound of a hundred heads hissing at once sent a shiver down your back, and that was before his breath hit your nose. The smell was like acid. It made your eyes burn, your skin crawl, and your hair stand on end. Combine all that with spearmint, and you were good to remember it for life.
Thalia and Percy had already left your side, skirting around the edge of the garden as Zoe had told them to. But something didn’t feel right about that, to you.
You crept up beside Zoe. Very firmly, you said, “I’ll stay with you. We ain’t leaving anybody.”
She looked horrified, and it was such an un-Zoe-like expression that it instantly freaked you out. “No—go, now.”
“No! You don’t leave friends behind!” You fought, gripping your dagger for dear life. An awful, awful feeling had taken over your body.
She pressed her mouth together unhappily, but some other look drew over her face, and she nodded once, determinedly.
She walked toward the dragon, voice calm. “It’s me, Ladon. I’m home.”
As long as I’m here, he should ignore thee, she had said. You waited for her to get closer to him before you shifted into gear, too. The aim being to draw attention away from Thalia and Percy. When they were past, you’d try to make your way up the mountain, and hope that Zoe going last would mean the dragon would let you mostly pass before you had to fight for your lives.
The eldest of Zoe’s sisters’ voice flowed in the air as they left. “Fool.”
“I used to feed thee by hand,” Zoe continued in a soothing voice. “Do you remember?”
There were many words you could think of to describe Zoe Nightshade in that moment and what had come before, but only one came to mind, full force—Brave.
She kept talking, and the heads switched their attention between you and her. Trying to keep it all solely off of Zoe, you watched it carefully, walking backward up the mountain, unable to watch your footing. Zoe caught on to what you were doing, and began to move, too.
For whatever reason, the air shifted.
The dragon lunged.
Two thousand years of training kept Zoe alive. She jumped over one set of heads snarling and snapping at her and tumbled under another set, springing to her feet. You ran together, at pace, at the same footsteps, toward the others. Your heart pumped furiously, pushing you onward, getting ready.
Percy had drawn his sword, but Zoe panted. “No! Run!” She screamed.
Something tensed inside of you. You looked to Zoe at your side, and your eyes widened, horrified. “Move!” Your hand reached out…
Too slow.
The dragon snapped at her side, and she yelped, crying out. Her footing slipped, but you didn’t hesitate to snatch her by the arm, holding her up. She didn’t stop, despite the obvious pain she must have been in.
You ran up the mountain, Thalia and Percy not too far behind. The dragon hissed and stomped, but as Zoe had said, he was trained to protect the tree. So he moved no further, no longer persuing you.
A song was in the air. Of sadness, of death.
At the top of mountain were ruins, blocks of black granite and marble as big as houses. Broken columns. Statues of bronze that looked as though they’d been half melted.
“The ruins of Mount Othrys,” Thalia whispered in awe.
“Yes,” Zoe said. “It was not here before. This is bad.” You watched for any aspect of pain, heart pounding.
“What’s Mount Othrys?” Percy asked.
“The mountain fortress of the Titans,” Zoe said. “In the first war, Olympus and Othrys were the two rival capitals of the world. Othrys was—” She winced and held her side.
“You’re hurt,” you said. “Let me see.”
“No! I’m not. It’s fine. I was saying, in the first war, Othrys was blasted to pieces.”
“But…how is it here?”
Thalia looked around cautiously as you picked your way through rubble and dirt, blocks of marble and broken archways.
“It moves in the same way that Olympus moves, right?”
Thalia blinked. “Right. It always exists on the edges of civilisation. But the fact that it is here, on this mountain, is not good.”
“Why?”
“This is Altas’s mountain,” said Zoe. “This is where he holds—” she froze. Her voice was ragged with despair. “Where he held up the world.”
You had reached the summit. A few yards ahead, grey clouds swirled in a heavy vortex, making a funnel cloud that almost touched the mountaintop, but instead rested on the shoulders of a twelve-year-old girl with auburn hair and a tattered silvery dress: Artemis, her legs bound to the rock with celestial bronze chains.
Zoe gasped and rushed forward. “My lady!”
Artemis shook her head as best she could, shaking. “No! It is a trap! You must go now!” Her voice was strained, and she looked to be in so much pain, that your soul cried out to help. She was covered in sweat, and visibly struggling.
Zoe was crying. Despite what Artemis said, she ran forward and dropped to her knees before her, tugging at the chains.
A booming voice spoke from behind you. “Ah, how touching.”
Everyone turned. Zoe sniffled, shifting on her knee to look as well. There the General stood in a brown suit. At his side was Luke Castellan, worn and weary-faced, alongside over a good hundred dracaenae bearing a golden sarcophagus. You didn’t need anyone to explain. You knew who that was for.
A head of dirty hair caught your eye. She was small next to Luke and the monsters, with a gag in her mouth and her hands bound. Luke held the tip of a knife against her throat. Her eyes were wide with pleading, and glassy. Annabeth. Your sister.
She met your gaze. And sent you only one message.
RUN!
“Luke,” Thalia snarled. “Let her go.”
Luke’s smile was weak, so weak, and pale. “That is the General’s decision, Thalia. But it’s good to see you again.”
Thalia spat at him.
Observant, as you always were, you paid attention to many things all at once; Percy’s awestruck eyes on your sister; Thalia’s pure disgust; Annabeth’s pain; Zoe Nightshade falling to rest from her knees; Artemis’s silver eyes drifting between every member present.
The General chuckled. “So much for old friends. And you, Zoe. How is my little traitor? I will enjoy killing you.”
“Do not respond,” Artemis groaned. “Do not challenge him, Zoe.”
It clicked instantly.
“Wait a second.” As it did for Percy, too. “You’re Atlas?”
The General’s eyes laid lazily on him. “So, even the stupidest of heroes can finally figure something out. Yes, I am Atlas, the General of the Titans and the terror of the Gods. Congratulations.” He drawled. “I will kill you presently, as soon as I have dealt with this wretched girl.”
“You’re not going to hurt Zoe,” said Percy. “I won’t let you.”
“You have no right to interfere, little hero. This is a family matter.”
“A family matter?”
“Yes,” Zoe said bleakly. “Atlas is my father.”

The Wall
Polaroid
a Stobin Month 2024 prompt | 1167 words | CW: N/A | Rating: G
--
“I can’t part with it,” Robin says.
Steve stands beside her, hands on his hips. “Me either.”
“We can’t leave it though.”
“But we don’t have space for it at the new place.”
“We’re not living together in the new place,” Robin points out with a sigh.
Steve’s shoulders fall. He keeps forgetting that part. “How do we split it then?”
“I say we don’t and just stay here,” Robin decides. She nods her head once, then claps. “Yup, that’s settled. We’re living here forever.”
“Rob,” Steve sighs, “you know we can’t.”
“Says who? We love this house. It’s our house. Why do we have to leave it?” Robin takes a seat on the floor and stares up at The Wall. Steve doesn’t hesitate to follow, even when his knees pop and protest at the movement. He looks up at The Wall in all its glory, eyes flickering around from one spot to another. It’s their most important wall in the house, their collective prized possession. It’s the most beautiful thing they’ve ever made.
The Wall is the north wall of their living room that connects with the stairs. It’s a boring beige color, but that’s not the important part, it’s what’s on the wall that matters. The very first day Steve and Robin moved into the house, they commemorated the day with a picture using Robin’s brand new Polaroid camera. And since their walls were all bare, they decided to put the picture on this wall that would one day be covered.
He doesn’t remember why they decided to take a picture every day, doesn’t know what possessed them to keep it up for over eight years, but here they are. The wall is covered with almost three thousand polaroids, some better than others, with little dates written on the bottom. The ones celebrating big milestones are the highlights, like special birthdays and graduations or the start of a new job or anniversary, with special attention taken to the doodles along the borders. They even alter the space around them so they sit in little pockets, standing out among the silly and blurred daily shots.
No one else understood why they kept it up, but they’ve never missed a day. Even when traveling, alone or together, they make sure someone took a picture.
And now that they’re moving out of their first home, moving in with their respective partners, the time has come to take it down.
Steve’s more sad to see The Wall go than he is to leave this house and he loves this house. It’s just not big enough for Steve, Eddie, Chrissy, Robin, the cats, and the incoming baby that Chrissy’s carrying for Steve and Eddie. He almost wishes Robin and Chrissy would just stay here, keep the wall up even if they stop taking pictures every day, but Robin didn’t think that was fair. “There’s no way I’m living in this house without you, dingus,” she said, “who would fight the ghost on my behalf?”
The ghost is actually their neighbor’s outdoor cat, Sally, who likes to sneak into their home to play with their cat, Tassel. At first, they thought it was some territory dispute, but it turns out the cats are just star-crossed lovers. So much so that their neighbor’s trying to figure out how Sally can still see Tassel. Steve didn’t peg the old man to be supportive of two lesbian cats, but then again he’s never had a problem with the big rainbow flag hanging in their living room or the fact he’s had to ask Steve and Eddie to keep the noise down a time or two.
Damn, he’s going to miss Nathaniel, too.
“We have to take it down,” Steve says.
“No.”
“Rob.”
“Steve.”
“Would you rather someone else does it?” Steve raises an eyebrow at her.
She rolls her eyes and huffs. “No.”
“Then we have to.”
“Why’d you have to go and make your family bigger, dingus,” Robin whines, leaning into him. “I’m happy to be Aunt Robin and all, and like I know this is what you were meant to do, but it’s really throwing a wrench in our growing old together plan.”
Steve kisses her forehead then rests his cheek against the top of her head. “You’re the one who introduced Eddie and I.”
“And I regret it everyday for him stealing you away from me.”
“Chrissy stole you first.”
“She’s perfect, she can do no wrong,” Robin says. “Eddie’s a gremlin man and took you from me.”
“I resent that,” Eddie says as he and Jonathan walk into the room. The house is pretty bare, minus the big furniture that still needs to be moved tomorrow, but the whole point of today was to take boxes out, yet they’re bringing boxes in. Eddie sets down a box in front of them and opens it to reveal several photo albums.
Jonathan does the same, but he takes out a machine that he plugs into the wall and starts fiddling with.
“What are you doing?” Steve asks.
“We’re here to rescue The Wall,” Eddie says.”
“This is a scanner,” Jonathan explains, “I borrowed it from work. We can take each picture and scan it to make another one and then you both have a copy.”
“And you two can decide who gets the originals but this way neither of you have to cry over losing it anymore.” Eddie holds out identical albums to each of them. “They’re prepped and ready for you to do your thing. But we need to finish this before we call it a day if we want to stay on schedule,” he says.
Steve looks down at the hefty photo album. They’re ornate with little doodles engraved in the leather of ice cream and anchors and VHS tapes and music notes and every other little icon Eddie could come up with to represent the last decade of his and Robin’s friendship. In the center, in what he’s sure is Chrissy’s script, it says “The Wonder Twins Years, Vol. 1” with a blank section to write what dates they can fit into the album.
“Eds,” he whispers.
Eddie darts forward to kiss his cheek. “No more tears, baby.”
Robin sniffles beside him. “Fine,” she huffs, “I guess he can stick around.”
“Was that up for debate?”
“It always was,” Robin says as she heaves herself up. “Dingus, go get the ladder out of the office.”
“On it,” Steve says. He gets up and sets the album on the coffee table. As he passes Jonathan, he squeezes his shoulder. “Thank you.”
Jonathan nods and smiles. “It’s too impressive to destroy,” he says.
Steve’s not sure why he’s surprised that Jonathan, their resident photographer, understands The Wall like he and Robin do, but it still fills him with so much warmth. He excuses himself before he can cry some more. Better to save those tears for when Robin’s decided to go down memory lane with every other picture.
He can’t wait.

You’ve reached the half of your tour, and Wednesday’s show was the most energetic. Now you find yourself yearning for some much needed rest during your month-long break. You can already picture yourself making a nest on your bed, doing nothing but sleeping and watching your favorite tv show.
Life takes unexpected turns, it’s Friday now, and one of your friends has invited you to a party. She said it wasn’t a ‘big thing’ but the house was full, the music wasn’t so loud and you wanted to thank the host for it. You miss your bed, and your cats, but it’s also nice to see some of your… friends. Not that you have too many, there’s always a struggle on trusting new people.
You try to relax your shoulders as you make your way to the kitchen to get a drink. On your way, everyone keeps complimenting you about the successful tour you’ve had.
Since you started making music, the growth of your career has been massive. Rich and famous people often prioritize numbers and records, focused on ‘who does it first’ ‘who wins the next award’ and tons of material shit you don’t care about. You wish someone would appreciate your music as you’ve always seen it, art. It’s an extension of you, a way to feel yourself free while being connected with your fans through truthful and poetic lyrics.
The kitchen is empty, only two people hang around kissing and touching each other like they are invisible. Something in your body aches whenever you get to watch someone giving affection to their partner. It’s inevitable, you yearn for that.
Being a successful person does not always mean you get what you want in your personal life. Sure, you’ve had dates with interesting people but no one sticks around to see the true you. Most of the time they only want to hang out with you, have a date or attend an event only to get their five minutes of fame.
Now that you think about it, maybe you don’t have time to settle down with someone and that’s  disappointing, you really crave for someone to snuggle with and have a fun loving life. Dance around the kitchen, play around at the beach.
It seems everyone has time for love but you. Everyone does the best, or worst, time on dates while your dates always have paparazzi and people at home watching the pictures, focusing on who you are dating instead of what you do, what you feel, and who you are. It’s more exhausting than performing love songs about fictional people that you’ve created in your head.
You wish your personal life was getting better as your professional life, tour, and travel days are planned, you always get your favorite breakfast, and the love that radiates from the fans makes you glow. It’s a different story when you’re alone in a hotel room, you start to feel like the loneliest person in the world. How can someone perform for 30,000 people and yet feel so alone five hours later?
Being on tour is exhausting, but for a couple of minutes on that stage, you feel powerful. It’s the safest place you have, for now.
You are in desperate need of the strongest drink you can get. So, you reach for a bottle but as you reach for it, a hand is pressed against yours. You gasp at the sudden touch and look up to see who it is.
Famous baseball player Steve Harrington appears from out of nowhere. The touch feels warm, you blush as he looks at you with a grin on his face.
“Soft spot for whiskey? This is my favorite one too” he says, your lips parted as you feel the heat on your face.
Keep. Yourself. Together.
“Uh…” you didn’t even realize it was whiskey, I just grabbed the first thing I could find” you confess, biting your lip as you miss the warmth of his hand.
“You weren’t going to pour this fine whiskey on that red cup, were you?” a chuckle escapes from his lips. He is cocky, he grins like he is the king of the world, and you… you like it.
“I- I just wanted something stronger than this beer” You let the red solo cup on the table focusing on his movements.
“Let me handle this” he makes his way through the kitchen looking for a cup worthy of his favorite liquor. He manages to get one, it’s not the same one he hand-picked since the party started but he believes it’ll do the job. He adds a couple of ice cubes and pours the whiskey, just the right amount.
As he hands you the cup, your fingers briefly touch, sending shivers down your spine. You don’t know what’s got you so nervous, please, you are the queen of the world right now.
“Thank you,” you say, taking a sip of the drink. As the liquor travels through your throat, you can feel it burn. It’s a feeling that leaves you pleased, this is exactly what you were looking for. “Wow, it’s delicious”
“I know, the best whiskey in this state,” he says. “I’m Steve Harrington, by the way,” he gets closer to you, his hand reaching out for yours.
You shake his hand, your cheeks feel hotter than ever. “Nice to meet you, I’m-”
“I know who you are,” he whispers, winking with a grin. Letting go of your hand he finishes his drink in a sip. He wipes the corner of his mouth and grabs the bottle of whiskey. “It’s too loud in here, do you want to join me in the backyard?" The house fills with voices as someone else arrives and everyone goes to the front porch to greet them.
“Sure” you nod, now holding your drink between your hands. You follow him to the backyard, small and shy steps– far from your usual confident self.
“Here, I grabbed this blanket earlier. You can sit with me” He offers you a spot on a blanket, sitting down and getting comfortable.
You take another sip of your drink, feeling the whiskey fade the nerves away. “It looks like you had this planned out” You leave your cup on the grass, letting the ice melt a while, to make it less strong.
He laughs, looking at the stars in the sky. You get lost on his features. The way his nose is perfectly shaped, his eyelashes are long, the little freckles on his face lit up by the yellow little lights in the backyard. “I wanted some space. I have a game on Sunday and I got dragged to this party… I tend to just find a place for myself. It looks like you needed a break too”
You notice how his nose scrunches up when he mentions his game. You bet he didn't know that you were aware of his existence, but you did. It was impossible to dismiss him, he has been one of the biggest and most famous players since the season started. Your dad and your friends talk about him. On tour, some people on your team watch his games before the show since the games are early. His face covers some of the biggest places in the cities you visited on tour.
“Is it a big game?” you curse yourself, of course it is. But you know nothing about baseball so he lets it pass. He looks at you with a sympathetic smile.
“It is, the team we are going up against is one of the best. I don’t tend to talk about it days before or I will get nervous” he confesses, leaning his head to one side and looking at you like you are the most beautiful jewel in the world.
“I don’t believe you” you laugh, shaking your head.
“What?”
“You, getting nervous. Your team has won over and over because of you, people on my tour team always brag about how you are the best”
Steve blushes at your words. He is fucking blushing and lets out a nervous but cute laugh.
“Don’t tell me you don’t get nervous after a show” his cocky grin comes back, you reach quickly for your cup to take a sip.
“I don’t,” you say.
He leans back, eyes wide. His lips parted in surprise.
“You don’t? How?” he asks.
“I do the same every night. It’s all choreographed, the one who is always nervous is my tour manager. But me. I don’t know” You let your head fall to look at the cup, and you shake it slowly so the ice cubes make a sparkly sound. “When I get on stage my heart just fills with warmth and I know there are people who are having the best time just because of me”
“That sounds very romantic” he searches for your face, and you look at him.
“It’s the closest I will ever get to romance” you sigh, feeling a sense of shared understanding.
“Hey, cheers to that!” he says.
“Cheers!”
You clink your glasses together. The night slips away, accompanied by Steve, whiskey, and sharing stories.
He is sweet, he has a true passion for his job, loves his career, and his team. You didn’t like to talk about work, but what else would you talk about? Work consumes both of you, it's easy to realize that. He is in every poster, you are in every magazine. Social media is filled with pictures of you, good news, bad news, fake news.
“It’s comforting to know someone is as married to their job as I am,” he says, his words slurred from the whiskey.
“I don't like to call it a work, it’s more like…” you begin.
“A dream come true,” he finishes for you.
“A dream come true, yes” You agree, feeling your head already spinning, the bridge of your nose hurting and your back giving up after sitting on the grass.
“Can I just tell you.. You are not what people say you are, well, not entirely” he says suddenly, whiskey doesn’t make Steve confident, it makes him dumb.
“What do you mean?” you worry, your body tensing in anticipation.  You’ve read all of the nasty things people have said about you, but it only hurts when it comes from someone you like or care about. Was he about to say something mean?
Steve could never say something hurtful. He respects people so he can be respected in return. He’s experienced the harshness of the media as well, he has somewhat of a bad reputation.
“You are an icon. But right now, you are just… you” he shrugs. “You look so unreal in those magazines and right now you look like a fire in a cold winter” he gets closer to you, and the gap between you disappears. “I mean, you are not just a record breaker, you radiate an energy that makes me... too comfortable for my liking”
“Are you…”
“I am serious,” he says, looking at your face, admiring all of your features. He knows you are cute, perfect, and talented. But now he realizes you are also sweet, you have a warm personality and a calm that surrounds you everywhere you go. “Talking to you made me forget everyone in the world knows my name, it’s like you are the only one who knows me”
“Like we know each other's little secrets?” you ask, reciprocating his feelings. Talking to him also made you forget about the millions of people who are listening to your music every night. That your face is on every little girls’ bedroom wall.
“Like we are each other’s secret” he whispers, so close his liquory breath tingles against your lips. “Can I kiss you?”
“Please” you whisper too, your entire body is burning. What you said earlier wasn’t a lie, you don’t experience romance very often.
“So cute and polite” he rests two of his fingers on your chin to bring you closer. Steve gently presses his lips to yours, moving them softly as you catch up with his movements.
The kiss is slow, but your heart is beating faster than ever. You only get this feeling when you are on stage, he only gets this feeling when he wins.
His thumb slides to your neck as his fingers rest in your cheek. Your face is between his hands, and you could swear you see stars, a glowing pink aura surrounding the two of you. This feels too good to be true.
When air is needed, both of you separate from each other. You touch his arm to keep him closer as he looks at your face, lips puffy from kissing.
“Guys! Pizza is here” someone inside the house screams, the scent of greasy food making its way to you.
“I don’t know about you but I'm really hungry,” he says, getting up and offering you a hand to help you get up.
“Me too” Your cheeks are still pink, he notices and almost falls on his knees at how adorable you look. You take his hand and get up, your chest bumps against his.
“There is one thing everyone says and it's that you are beautiful” he looks at you with his pretty brown eyes.
“Do you agree?” you ask.
“You are fucking gorgeous”
You laugh, getting on your tippy toes to leave a kiss on his cheek.
“We are each other’s little secret, remember?”
You nod in agreement, understanding the secret bond you now share. Steve smiles and drops your hand, disappearing into the house. You let out a big sigh, you are so going to make a song about this, but for now, it’s a secret you’ll keep locked away from the world.
