I am constantly torn between
"I want to be hot and sexy, especially online, for money"
And
"If I do sex work my ability to get any other job will be ruined because of the society we live in, therefore I should put up with working a job when I'm treated like shit because it's busy or because we don't have a product I risk being shanked"

ppl saying “oh try guys threw him out, there must be more than just cheating” are so fucking annoying. we all know that there is. but even if there wasn’t, why is a man cheating on his wife not good enough reason to throw him out of the club. people are so senseless and braindead and this is why society is crumbling.

somewhat kicking a bees nest here, but hear me out-
"homemade and handcrafted goods should cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars" is why attaching a monetary value to esoteric concepts like "time" and "skill" (and, you know, "a human being") is a bad system.
now, before the pitchforks come out, i am not bitching because i want a handcrafted quilt for $20. i do recognize that it would be unbelievably unfair to the quilter. but like...doesn't that sound obscene? that we live in a system where things that used to be pretty mundane are now only available to the upper class, or the creator just fucking dies? where in order for someone to make anything artistic, they need to be independently wealthy or ONLY cater to wealthy people?
again, i am not suggesting that artists should sell me their shit at a horrific loss. im not really suggesting any solution at all here, we're between a bit of a rock and a hard place. but it feels really inherently fucked up to me that the only options are "Artists taken advantage of" and "only rich people get art."
anyways, UBI huh

me on the internet: marriage is a failed and inherently misogynistic institution and we need to abolish it if we want true equality it’s crazy how in this day and age people are still spending tens of thousands of dollars on their weddings and there are still expectations of whose family pays for what. and gay people are not exempt from this criticism while i recognize that marriage is tied to a number of institutional rights like healthcare and tax benefits and it is important for us to be able to access these rights it’s crazy how we are expected to just fall in line with this cisheteronormative fantasy and many people the lgbtq community do indeed embrace this fantasy uncritically,
me when i get invited to a wedding:

there is no true to the book movie adaptation of Frankenstein out there because then society would be confronted with the fact that it creates its own monsters by pushing non-normative people who are capable of love and kindness, to horrifying deeds. because at its core, Frankenstein's horror consists not of what the creature is capable of doing, but what pushes him to do it. and let's face it, society would often much rather be scared of 'the other' than of the cruelty in oneself.
also, Adam would have to be trans and autistic, but that's just my personal opinion

I was told by someone that I couldn’t call myself a transsexual because I had to go off T for health reasons and I haven’t had any gender affirming surgeries yet since I’m poor and disabled. Is this true? What are like, the requirements to be a transsexual? /gen
The requirements to be transsexual: to identify as transsexual
This might seem too... straightforward, but genuinely, medical transition is so complex and individual that it's worthless to make it so ridged. There are so many reasons you have to stop some aspect(s) of transition, even if you didn't want to! That doesn't mean you never transitioned or that it's "lesser" now that you stopped.
Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, I, for one, couldn't care less if you call yourself a transsexual. To my mind, it is as political as it is an identity. Being a transsexual isn't just about your identity but also your place in this world. "Transsexual menace" isn't just a cutesy little slogan but a political battle cry. It can be an attitude about changing sex, about the lucid and plastic nature of people, and so much more.
The word transsexual was made and popularized, honestly, with the idea that we are separate from others. I think we can take this back and make it ours. We can start by actually making it our own, not the cis world's own.

i'm really curious about what marcille's mother's deal is. seems like she's not too big on the rest of elven society. here's what we know about her so far:
mage at a human royal court (adventurer's bible)
courtship with marcille's father donato lasted 17 years (adventurer's bible)
specialty is roast pork, which was also donato's favorite (chapter 81)
had a cheerful personality up until the point donato got too sick to eat his favorite food. her extreme emotional reaction to this left a lasting impression on marcille (chapter 81)
remarried to a gnome and moved away from the city at some point after donato died (adventurer's bible)
several portraits of her appear in marcille's nightmare (chapter 42); this is the second time we see marcille dream of her (chapter 3)
preferred non-elven food and didn't introduce marcille to any traditional elven dishes (chapter 74)
from the canaries' reactions in chapter 74, it appears elven society looks down on elves who go to live among and work for short-lived races. they seemed especially put off that she would have a mixed-blood child. when they're talking about the lyrikmumare to get marcille to trip up, marcille envisions her mother saying that the food "here" (i.e., the northern continent) tastes so much better. so the picture we're getting here is of an elf who has removed herself from elven culture, but the question is, did she do it willingly or was she forced to?
keeping her other actions in mind, i'm leaning more towards the former. the most intriguing thing for me is that she eventually married a gnome, despite elves and gnomes having infamously waged war against each other over differences in the practice of magic and presently tending to discriminate against the other on sight. (one thing's for sure — marcille's mother is winning the idgaf war!)
marcille never talks about her gnome stepfather though, and it's unclear what she thinks of her mother's remarriage. the timing of the remarriage is also a mystery. donato married marcille's mother when he was 32 (after having courted her for 17 years) and died at 82, meaning they were married for 50 years. marcille is also currently 50 years old, but we know she wasn't born immediately after the marriage: in chapter 81, donato's doppelganger says marcille was born when he'd started "getting on in years." based on marcille's memories of him and the established fact that the average tall-man lifespan is 60 years, i'd hazard that he was in his 50s then. this gives him 30 years or less with marcille — definitely less than 35, which we know is the age at which she left for the magic academy.
we don't know if marcille's mother remarries before or after marcille leaves (if before, than that's definitely a shockingly short time), but it's interesting that she chose to marry someone from a long-lived race this time. maybe this is her way of ensuring she spares herself another heartbreak? or maybe she *is* still heartbroken and is trying to cover it up.
but. i can't help but kind of agree with chilchuck in chapter 81, that marcille's parents are not blameless for marcille becoming the dungeon lord. since it's apparently well-documented, they surely must have known — as well-educated people — that mixed-blood children face not just discrimination but also mental anguish that comes with their unstable aging (not to mention the sterility). so the way they raised marcille feels frankly irresponsible 😭
anyway. i'd love to get spin-off content where post-adventure marcille and her mother meet again. i feel like there's a lot of unresolved issues there (that can of course be hashed out over a good meal).

haunted that lestat is like 21 yrs old leading a society. the other vampires should’ve iced his ass years ago on basic principle. well… i guess they tried several times but like a roach he persevered. I feel like they keep him around bc he’s the only one bringing interesting events to the community he’s like a human soap opera he’s like the personification of Murphy’s law. like he should be sucking and fucking his way across the globe having the vampire equivalent of a spring break trip to malibu as god intended but instead he’s doing paperwork and ruling a society….that’s cruel and unusual punishment for him AND the society like that is NOT his natural environment……..they should put him down humanely….send him to a nice farm upstate where all the other problem-causers run free in the fields etc but no he has the endurance capacity of a New York City roach with immortality to match and he just keeps getting more powerful and more manic-pixie-dream-girled so vampiric society gives up on trying to squash that gay bug and instead puts him in a jar to observe in captivity because the bug is easily the most thing to happen to their society in centuries. he’s like the sliced bread of vampires they’re like what did we even DO before lestat???????? and none of them can even answer because the worlds two oldest living vampires are ALSO obsessed with him. I’d tell them to get well soon but it’s just unrealistic at this point
